- 2:42Speaker 4: Association with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Hannah,
- 2:46Speaker 4: good morning, welcome to the show.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Good morning.
- 2:50Speaker 4: I am doing fine. Last week we had Angie on
- 2:53Speaker 4: the show because I think you had some some things
- 2:54Speaker 4: that you had to take care of, and Angie did
- 2:57Speaker 4: a great job. But you know she's not Hannah. I'm kidding.
- 3:00Speaker 4: If Angel Liz, I'm kidding, I'm kidding and you did
- 3:03Speaker 4: a great job. But welcome back.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Well, thank you.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Our pet of the week is Pepper. And when I'll
- 3:10Speaker 4: get the picture as always posted Dave aland Radio and
- 3:12Speaker 4: Facebook at the Dave Alan Show at Dave A seventy
- 3:15Speaker 4: on X. Tell us all about Pepper.
- 3:18Speaker 5: All right, Well, Pepper, she is a female and I
- 3:23Speaker 5: do not think she's fixed yet, but she will be.
- 3:26Speaker 5: She's around two years old. She's microchipped already, and I
- 3:31Speaker 5: believe she has all her vaccines up to date. I
- 3:34Speaker 5: think the only vaccine she will need us through rabies
- 3:37Speaker 5: vaccine when she gets sixed, and then she'll be ready
- 3:39Speaker 5: to go home. Now, she did come in as astray
- 3:44Speaker 5: to us, and we don't really know her background or
- 3:48Speaker 5: anything like that. But she is a very very sweet girl.
- 3:51Speaker 5: She's a little dashful, for she can be a little headshine.
- 3:56Speaker 5: What I mean by that is whenever you're going into
- 4:00Speaker 5: pet a dog, or if you're going like if you're
- 4:02Speaker 5: taking your hand over their head or something like that,
- 4:05Speaker 5: it can make a dog very headshy to where they
- 4:07Speaker 5: will like huck her down a little bit and they
- 4:10Speaker 5: will be a little bit more fearful of what you're doing,
- 4:13Speaker 5: because you know, you're a big, tall person coming over
- 4:16Speaker 5: them and they are smaller than you. So some dogs
- 4:21Speaker 5: prefer you to kind of, you know, let them come
- 4:22Speaker 5: up to you. Smiss you, and she has fine. She's
- 4:25Speaker 5: definitely gotten a lot better with it. She's very very sweet.
- 4:29Speaker 5: She actually loves other dogs. She's very playful with them.
- 4:32Speaker 5: She prefers playful dogs because she's playful herself. When she
- 4:36Speaker 5: first came in, she was very shy.
- 4:38Speaker 4: To the other dogs.
- 4:38Speaker 5: But she's definitely opened up a lot more, and she
- 4:41Speaker 5: has pool in the leasha a little bit, but she
- 4:44Speaker 5: is doing a little better with that. And of course,
- 4:47Speaker 5: with some guidance and some training, she will be very
- 4:52Speaker 5: good at times.
- 4:52Speaker 6: Very sure.
- 4:53Speaker 5: She's a good bustener, So she would be a good
- 4:56Speaker 5: family dog, I would say, but of course if there
- 4:59Speaker 5: are ki and I would say this with any dog,
- 5:01Speaker 5: even if they're the sweetest. Always always, always a dogged
- 5:05Speaker 5: caution with kids. I always teach your kids boundaries as
- 5:08Speaker 5: well as the dog. But other than that, she is
- 5:11Speaker 5: a really all around the dog. And I believe she
- 5:14Speaker 5: is a round fortyish pound so and she's a full
- 5:17Speaker 5: grown so she might fill out a little bit more,
- 5:19Speaker 5: but she's not going to give any figger.
- 5:21Speaker 4: And you said that she loves car rides.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, she has been out to a foster home before,
- 5:28Speaker 5: and they did let us know that she absolutely loved
- 5:31Speaker 5: the car rides and that she was shy with the
- 5:36Speaker 5: kids that were in her home, so very very kind
- 5:39Speaker 5: of shy with the kids. But that's why I always say,
- 5:42Speaker 5: you know, just to be cautious. She didn't show any
- 5:45Speaker 5: red flags or anything with the kids, but of course
- 5:47Speaker 5: again always added caution.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and again that's just that's not necessarily as you'd
- 5:52Speaker 4: like to use the term red flag. It's not necessarily
- 5:54Speaker 4: a red flag. It just means that he just takes
- 5:57Speaker 4: a little bit of time to warm up. The day
- 6:00Speaker 4: Island showing five Indie line Bright to you apart by
- 6:01Speaker 4: your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds. Birds are
- 6:04Speaker 4: on the road starting tonight for the next week and
- 6:06Speaker 4: I had this high point folltow by a series in Lexington.
- 6:09Speaker 4: They're back at home one week from the night. Tickets, schedules, promotions,
- 6:11Speaker 4: dirty Birds gear and more. This is a Dirty Birds
- 6:14Speaker 4: Baseball dot Com checking out your social media, Hannah. Not
- 6:17Speaker 4: a good day there at the shelter yesterday you took
- 6:20Speaker 4: in some parvo dogs. You had a dog who was
- 6:23Speaker 4: hit by a train. You know, as the old song says,
- 6:26Speaker 4: Mama said, there'd be days like this, But that's I
- 6:28Speaker 4: guess that's part of it, right.
- 6:30Speaker 5: Yes, Yes, we've had a lot of days lately where
- 6:32Speaker 5: they have just been back to that crazy chaotic and
- 6:37Speaker 5: you know, we're just pushing through them. We did have
- 6:39Speaker 5: a lot of stuff come in yesterday, but again we
- 6:42Speaker 5: are very very very tim team worked here, so definitely
- 6:47Speaker 5: all taking our hands in and helping in every way
- 6:50Speaker 5: that we can.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Well, actually, we had a text of the show somebody
- 6:52Speaker 4: wanted to ask you how was the dog that was
- 6:54Speaker 4: hit by the train?
- 6:56Speaker 5: I personally I'm not hudd of that sure, but I
- 6:59Speaker 5: do say that that dog is not doing very well,
- 7:03Speaker 5: or maybe it already had packed.
- 7:05Speaker 4: I believe that's horrible. Getting back to the parvo dogs,
- 7:09Speaker 4: how exactly does the shelter handle dogs that come in
- 7:12Speaker 4: with parvo?
- 7:13Speaker 5: So whenever they come in, if they are showing sounds
- 7:16Speaker 5: of parvo, any symptoms or anything like that of parvo,
- 7:20Speaker 5: which could be a wide variety of things, and if
- 7:22Speaker 5: you call up to the shelter, we could even give
- 7:23Speaker 5: you a full list of those. We could even tell you,
- 7:27Speaker 5: you know, things to look out for. But whenever they
- 7:30Speaker 5: come in, we will take if they are and we
- 7:32Speaker 5: do a parvo test on them, we will take them
- 7:34Speaker 5: down to our cargo ward which is downstairs kind of
- 7:38Speaker 5: where Fixed Charleston is, but it's in like a separate
- 7:41Speaker 5: little area, and we will treat them until they are
- 7:46Speaker 5: cleared for parvo and then they will be available for adoption.
- 7:50Speaker 5: So we have a very very successful pargo savory. We're
- 7:54Speaker 5: very very proud of that. So the ones that do
- 7:57Speaker 5: not make it is very far few, but we always
- 8:00Speaker 5: have you know, there is always, of course, unfortunately some
- 8:03Speaker 5: that are already too far into it. But yes, we
- 8:06Speaker 5: definitely treat them as soon as they come in.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Right. You guys did another event with Fitz Charleston. Thea
- 8:13Speaker 4: that it's a great organization to deal with, and I
- 8:15Speaker 4: know that they do these pop ups around the valley
- 8:17Speaker 4: from time to time, so it really would behoove people
- 8:20Speaker 4: to take advantage of them when they're out there. You
- 8:22Speaker 4: were I think, I want to say it was Wednesday
- 8:24Speaker 4: of this week, I think is what it was. But regardless,
- 8:26Speaker 4: it was one day this week, and you always post
- 8:28Speaker 4: about it on your Facebook page of the of the
- 8:31Speaker 4: animal shelter, so it would be a great opportunity for
- 8:33Speaker 4: people to kind of follow along, follow your page and
- 8:35Speaker 4: see when they're going to be out and about. Again.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Yes, yes, we definitely do vac seeing clinics here and there,
- 8:41Speaker 5: and they are very very helpful to a lot of people.
- 8:44Speaker 5: We always get a lot of people to show up.
- 8:46Speaker 5: So if we do another one, please keep an eye
- 8:49Speaker 5: on our Facebook page. We always post when we do this,
- 8:51Speaker 5: and come on out and get all the vaccines that
- 8:54Speaker 5: you can for your animals.
- 8:55Speaker 4: All right, and as we all, I'd like to close
- 8:57Speaker 4: the segments each week by asking you how are the
- 8:59Speaker 4: numbers at the sh shelter looking and what do you
- 9:01Speaker 4: need there?
- 9:03Speaker 5: Of course, we always need blankets and towels. We've been
- 9:07Speaker 5: really really using a lot of those. Where we have
- 9:10Speaker 5: so many animals going to foster homes as well as
- 9:13Speaker 5: in the shelter, our numbers are still very high. I
- 9:17Speaker 5: think we are still in critical condition right now where
- 9:21Speaker 5: we do have so many. I think we still are upward.
- 9:25Speaker 5: I think we're at like three seventy six animals total
- 9:28Speaker 5: in our care, and that is in foster and in shelter.
- 9:32Speaker 5: So that is a lot, and that is.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Very very high for us, all right, Well as always, Hannah,
- 9:37Speaker 4: it is a pleasure to talk to you, and we'll
- 9:39Speaker 4: talk to you again next week. Thanks a lot, all right,
- 9:41Speaker 4: thank you. Nine to seventeen of Dave Valid Show and

- 9:53Speaker 4: let's review. Pepper is our dog, two year old female,
- 9:56Speaker 4: not fixed yet but will be soon. Love's other friendly dogs.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Loves car rides, coop that's perfect for you. Loves car
- 10:03Speaker 4: rides and does pull slightly on the leash. Can be
- 10:08Speaker 4: a little bit shy at first, but once she warms
- 10:09Speaker 4: up to you, she's a fantastic dog. And she's probably
- 10:13Speaker 4: not going to get a lot bigger. She's pretty good
- 10:15Speaker 4: sized dog. I think around forty pounds or so, but
- 10:19Speaker 4: she's probably not gonna get any bigger. She's like the
- 10:21Speaker 4: rest of us. She's gonna get a little bit more round,
- 10:23Speaker 4: but she's probably not going to grow anymore. So go
- 10:27Speaker 4: get the dog. I've got the dog's picture posted as
- 10:29Speaker 4: I always do, Dave aland Radio on Facebook and at
- 10:32Speaker 4: Dave A seventy and the artists formally known as Twitter.
- 10:34Speaker 4: So go check out Pepper and let's get Pepper home today,

- 10:47Speaker 4: comeing up to talk about Live on the Levee. Girls'
- 10:49Speaker 4: Night Out is tomorrow night, and plus we'll talk a
- 10:51Speaker 4: little golf coming up a little bit later on. But
- 10:53Speaker 4: I gotta tell you a quick story though, before we
- 10:55Speaker 4: go to break. Earlier this week, I had Conan County
- 10:59Speaker 4: Commisster Ben Salang on the show, and when Commissioner Selango
- 11:03Speaker 4: was on, we had a texture to the show who
- 11:06Speaker 4: suggested to Commissioner Selango that it would be nice if
- 11:09Speaker 4: the county were to offer some sort of a discount
- 11:13Speaker 4: for active and former military members and for first responders. Well,
- 11:19Speaker 4: Commissioner Solango and if you go, if you go, and
- 11:23Speaker 4: you listen to the interview, which I listened to a
- 11:25Speaker 4: little bit of it yesterday. I read the text on
- 11:27Speaker 4: the air and Ben was sitting over over to my
- 11:31Speaker 4: left and he said, you know what, and he kind
- 11:32Speaker 4: of shook. He said, that's a good idea. So yesterday
- 11:35Speaker 4: afternoon I get a text from Commissioner Selango that says
- 11:39Speaker 4: that's and it was announced formally yesterday. Starting today, there
- 11:43Speaker 4: is now a ten percent discount offered to current and
- 11:47Speaker 4: past military members and first responders. Again, the Texter had said,
- 11:50Speaker 4: why can't we do this for those that like to
- 11:52Speaker 4: play golf here in the area, and Commissioner Selango thought
- 11:56Speaker 4: it was a good idea, got the wheels in motion,
- 11:58Speaker 4: and they officially announced it yesterday. That's starting today, there
- 12:01Speaker 4: is now a ten percent discount offered to current and
- 12:04Speaker 4: past military members and to first responders. Now the discount
- 12:07Speaker 4: is good at the short course at Coonskin and also
- 12:10Speaker 4: at Big Bed And all you got to do is
- 12:12Speaker 4: show them your ID to get the discounts. So there,
- 12:16Speaker 4: How cool is that? And Coop, it all came from
- 12:18Speaker 4: a texture to the show. That's where it all. That's
- 12:20Speaker 4: where it all came from. In the heart of West Virginia,
- 12:22Speaker 4: there exists a profound force that goes beyond the realm
- 12:25Speaker 4: of sports, transcending limitations and fostering the sense of belonging.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Special Olympics is what I'm talking about, and there is
- 12:31Speaker 4: a remarkable initiative that showcase of the latest episode of

- 13:00Speaker 2: Texas.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Why do outside city limits but still Knawk County do
- 13:03Speaker 4: you have to pay for the vaccines and microchips but
- 13:05Speaker 4: Charleston gets them free at these pop ups? Well, what
- 13:08Speaker 4: that is that's the organization that is doing that. That
- 13:11Speaker 4: is the Fixed Charleston organization that is waving unless I'm wrong,
- 13:15Speaker 4: that's who's waving the fees at those things, and they
- 13:19Speaker 4: run off donations. So that's how that happens. It's not
- 13:23Speaker 4: necessarily the shelter that's doing that. It is groups, and
- 13:25Speaker 4: there are several groups around here that do great things.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Fixed Charleston is one of them. So that's kind of
- 13:30Speaker 4: that's kind of how that happens. It's based on donations
- 13:34Speaker 4: that are given from them. And again follow the Knaw
- 13:36Speaker 4: Charleston Main Association on Facebook and their social media. They
- 13:39Speaker 4: do a really good job of telling you where these
- 13:41Speaker 4: pop ups were going to be. This last one I
- 13:42Speaker 4: think was it was at one of the Airy Big
- 13:44Speaker 4: Lot stores. So there you go. All right, we're going
- 13:47Speaker 4: to take a break. Tonight is the final night for
- 13:49Speaker 4: the Moses Sider Group live on the Levy. Jim Strawn

- 16:30Speaker 11: thought I would go ahead and do that.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Always a sad day for me.
- 16:33Speaker 11: Been a great, truly remarkable, fantabulous summer no rain now
- 16:37Speaker 11: Season twenty has been mis because we don't have rain anymore.
- 16:40Speaker 3: This just nobody had rainow this summer, at.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Least not here. You and I were talking to hereing
- 16:45Speaker 4: the break the State Fair West Virginia started hands vain
- 16:48Speaker 4: last night. They had to cancel the concert last unfortunate,
- 16:50Speaker 4: but there's true and good on live on the LEVEO.
- 16:52Speaker 11: Yeah, we've had some pretty good luck in tonight. I
- 16:54Speaker 11: think it's going to be a picture perfect weather.
- 16:57Speaker 6: Night.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Started out a.
- 16:58Speaker 11: Little warm, but then the cool front coming in, maybe
- 17:00Speaker 11: a nice little breeze. It could drop dare I say
- 17:03Speaker 11: it into the seventies by the end of the night.
- 17:05Speaker 11: Seventy seventies. So yeah, it's going to be a nice evening.
- 17:08Speaker 11: It's a special evening too, not just because it's the
- 17:10Speaker 11: last one, but the city has really done a nice
- 17:13Speaker 11: job rolling out the red carpet for the kiddos, really
- 17:16Speaker 11: catering to the children. It's back to school night, So
- 17:19Speaker 11: not only are we going to have about twenty vendors
- 17:21Speaker 11: that are going to be handing out things getting you
- 17:24Speaker 11: ready for school, tools for school, all the essentials that
- 17:27Speaker 11: you may need, but it's also the University of Charles tonight.
- 17:31Speaker 11: It's also West Virginia State University Night. It's also Girls
- 17:34Speaker 11: Scout Night. A lot of special nights tonight, but most
- 17:37Speaker 11: of it kind of revolves around children and getting back
- 17:41Speaker 11: to school. And then, oh, by the way, there's going
- 17:43Speaker 11: to be some music, Dave.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:44Speaker 6: Oh by the way.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Before we get to these, I want to talk about
- 17:47Speaker 4: some of the activities you got down there. There's a
- 17:48Speaker 4: bike helmet giveaway, donkey booth, face painting, finger printing, a
- 17:54Speaker 4: phone machine. This is why Coop's going now yet tonight
- 17:57Speaker 4: Inflatables ConA Ice Library, folks would be signing people up
- 18:01Speaker 4: for library cards.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Boy Scouts will be there along with the Girls Scouts.
- 18:05Speaker 4: You can meet the Queens of the Regatta.
- 18:06Speaker 3: The Regotta Queens will be there.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Yeah, snack bags. As I said, there's all kinds of
- 18:10Speaker 4: there's a Young Entrepreneurs Market.
- 18:12Speaker 11: For Gotta Committee. They're handing out some school supply giveaways
- 18:15Speaker 11: as well. So when I say you know ten, fifteen,
- 18:17Speaker 11: twenty vendors handing out stuff, it's it's going to be
- 18:21Speaker 11: really great for children of all ages.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Yeah, come on down.
- 18:25Speaker 11: I'm glad you got those out there. The city did
- 18:28Speaker 11: a nice job putting this together, and then at six
- 18:30Speaker 11: thirty regular time music at the Hadad Riverfront Park on
- 18:33Speaker 11: the Show and Bomb Stage. Local Favorite really got a
- 18:36Speaker 11: nice name, Emma Deal and the Hot Mess. I love
- 18:39Speaker 11: her name, Emma Deal and the Hot Mess. Local Favorite
- 18:42Speaker 11: got her own little version of rock and roll. Local
- 18:44Speaker 11: Gal doing really well and we're keeping it local. At
- 18:46Speaker 11: seven forty five, Ny'll play two forty five minute says
- 18:50Speaker 11: up until nine thirty. Golden another band from right here
- 18:53Speaker 11: in the Charleston area. Four guys Mikey and Matt, Cody
- 18:57Speaker 11: and Greg and they have their own little version of
- 18:59Speaker 11: rock and roll as well, and they got a little
- 19:01Speaker 11: pop and they really have created something really unique and
- 19:04Speaker 11: they got a really neat, harmonizing, cohesive sound. So I
- 19:07Speaker 11: look forward to hearing Golden. And I think we got
- 19:10Speaker 11: both of these bands because I think the kids like
- 19:12Speaker 11: these kind of bands.
- 19:13Speaker 3: So great for the family Tonight special thanks to the
- 19:16Speaker 3: City of Charleston.
- 19:17Speaker 11: Season twenty has been fantabulous and we want to thank
- 19:20Speaker 11: Brewer and Company, Lou Wendel, Marine, the Health Plan, all
- 19:23Speaker 11: over television stations. You guys have been great to support it.
- 19:26Speaker 11: The WBrC family right here WBrC Media Talk Radio. You
- 19:31Speaker 11: have me on every every week has just been really
- 19:33Speaker 11: kind of kind of special for me and I love
- 19:36Speaker 11: talking to the audience out there. It again just we've
- 19:40Speaker 11: had a I can't believe it's over, but twenty years
- 19:42Speaker 11: is in the books and tonight's going to be a
- 19:44Speaker 11: special night.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Has all the makings of an epic night.
- 19:47Speaker 11: A breakout a dollar or two or five and buy
- 19:50Speaker 11: a fifty to fifty ticket to help our charities, our CCR,
- 19:53Speaker 11: Covenant House, the Sojourn, our shelter Man and Meal and
- 19:56Speaker 11: Canall Valley Collective. They've After tonight, we're probably going to
- 19:59Speaker 11: be about a hunt than twenty five thousand dollars that
- 20:01Speaker 11: we've raised in twenty seasons for those charities. So thank
- 20:05Speaker 11: you very much for your continued kindness and generosity, and
- 20:09Speaker 11: thanks for coming down.
- 20:10Speaker 3: We couldn't do lot well.
- 20:12Speaker 11: Live a Levee would not be Live on Levey unless
- 20:14Speaker 11: people came down to enjoy it. Yeah, So everybody's had
- 20:16Speaker 11: a great time, and I'm still trying to find that
- 20:19Speaker 11: one person that I look up and see in a
- 20:21Speaker 11: bad mood.
- 20:21Speaker 3: And I haven't found that person yet. You come to
- 20:23Speaker 3: the Live on levee. You're going to have a good time.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Indeed, But Davey Island showing five any live Bright too.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Party about Husband's Pizza. This month's your favorite husbands get
- 20:30Speaker 4: large eighteen inch pepperoni pizza and an eight inch chocolate
- 20:33Speaker 4: chip cookie for only twenty three to ninety nine. And
- 20:35Speaker 4: I just can't get over the weather here, Jim. I mean,
- 20:38Speaker 4: you know, knock on Wood next year could be a
- 20:41Speaker 4: total disaster. But this year it's been hot, because everybody
- 20:44Speaker 4: knows it's been hot. But there hasn't been a single
- 20:47Speaker 4: right now delay because of lightning or anything. I know,
- 20:50Speaker 4: we've had that in the past. Yeah, we've had nothing
- 20:52Speaker 4: at all.
- 20:53Speaker 3: We've had some tough summers.
- 20:54Speaker 11: You know, in West Virginia, right here in the heart
- 20:56Speaker 11: of Appalaccha, we're known for some pop up showers and
- 20:59Speaker 11: storm stiers.
- 21:00Speaker 3: A lot of folks are.
- 21:01Speaker 11: You know, my grandma's and my aunts and nuncles, we
- 21:03Speaker 11: used to love sitting on the front porch and just
- 21:05Speaker 11: listening to the summer storm and the lightning and the thunder,
- 21:08Speaker 11: and that was kind of a thing. We haven't had
- 21:10Speaker 11: that now this summer, and it's it's been again a
- 21:14Speaker 11: nice summer for the fans to come down a little
- 21:19Speaker 11: bit warm. But we've had plenty of fans down there.
- 21:21Speaker 11: Sometimes we get the awning back. We have lots of
- 21:24Speaker 11: refreshing drinks down there. People stayed hydrated and really enjoyed it.
- 21:28Speaker 11: So your reward for sticking with us is seventy seven
- 21:31Speaker 11: degrees tonight. Yeah, I mean, because you know, the weather
- 21:35Speaker 11: is taking a definite turn.
- 21:37Speaker 4: And I stepped out of the house this morning thinking
- 21:39Speaker 4: it was going to be a lot cooler, and it
- 21:41Speaker 4: was still still like a sauna, or as my grandmother
- 21:43Speaker 4: used to say, it feels like a sainty out here.
- 21:46Speaker 4: I think I was twelve before I realized that the
- 21:47Speaker 4: word is sauna, not sainty. But anyway, it's the logan
- 21:51Speaker 4: county than logan thing. But when I stepped out of
- 21:53Speaker 4: the house where I was like, yeah, it's a little
- 21:54Speaker 4: bit more. But they tell us that the Brian Hugheses
- 21:56Speaker 4: and the Spencer Adkins of the world say that at
- 21:58Speaker 4: some point we're going to get like some jet stream
- 22:00Speaker 4: something or another, and.
- 22:01Speaker 11: So really we're going to feel at about two and
- 22:03Speaker 11: three o'clock and then we're going to feel it again
- 22:05Speaker 11: about seven or eight o'clock tonight.
- 22:07Speaker 3: So it's it's going to.
- 22:08Speaker 4: No other better place to be than to be live
- 22:12Speaker 4: on the levy seeing the boats when it's not sweltering
- 22:15Speaker 4: hot and you've got a little breeze blowing off the river.
- 22:18Speaker 4: It's good times, man.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I look forward to all the children tonight.
- 22:22Speaker 11: Families, if you're listening to me right now, please, if
- 22:24Speaker 11: you haven't been down, bring the kids down. The kids
- 22:27Speaker 11: are going to have a blast with all the fun
- 22:29Speaker 11: things and all the essentials that they may need. A
- 22:31Speaker 11: lot of vendors handing out some really good products for
- 22:34Speaker 11: you and some good information about getting ready for the
- 22:36Speaker 11: school year. I'm going to say it again, this was
- 22:39Speaker 11: This was Mayor Goodwin's vision, and she's done a great
- 22:41Speaker 11: job the past couple of years with this back to
- 22:43Speaker 11: the school night.
- 22:44Speaker 3: The city just blows it up. So parents, bring the
- 22:47Speaker 3: kids down.
- 22:48Speaker 4: A lot of people there.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it should be fun.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Should people want to come out and meet Dale Cooper?
- 22:51Speaker 4: Well he Coop should be there, right, you're coming out
- 22:54Speaker 4: on't you, Coop? Yeah, I'll be there. Okay, that Coop
- 23:02Speaker 4: is multi task see him back there. You're bringing the
- 23:05Speaker 4: little one out tonight to see this.
- 23:07Speaker 6: I think that my wife and kid will both come out. Yes,
- 23:09Speaker 6: I love it, Thank you, Coop.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Well, there's a lot of lot of cool things therefore,
- 23:12Speaker 4: and phone, you're gonna let Her're gonna throw in the phone,
- 23:14Speaker 4: not throw in the phone. That's when CPS gets involved.
- 23:16Speaker 2: But I think, are you going?
- 23:17Speaker 4: Are you going to? Is this kind of stuff that
- 23:19Speaker 4: she's into? She liked that kind of stuff.
- 23:21Speaker 12: Oh Sie loves just being out around all a lot
- 23:23Speaker 12: of people, So she'll have a good time there regardless.
- 23:26Speaker 11: Yeah, the City of Chawston Parks and rerec they got
- 23:27Speaker 11: that phone machine, that's what you're talking about.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so yeah, please.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Do not toss your children into the phone though I
- 23:33Speaker 4: probably should have said a lot.
- 23:34Speaker 11: Of games, the inflatable firehouse just to name a few.
- 23:37Speaker 11: You mentioned the bike helmet giveaway. Are artists just tons
- 23:40Speaker 11: of giveaways, and there's going to be some other giveaways
- 23:44Speaker 11: from some of the vendors doing raffles. So the break
- 23:48Speaker 11: from seven thirty to seven forty five might be a
- 23:50Speaker 11: break from seven thirty to seven fifty. We have so
- 23:53Speaker 11: much to do tonight, but it should be fun. Come down,
- 23:55Speaker 11: had ed to the front parks the place to be
- 23:57Speaker 11: the season finale season number twenty. The more it was
- 24:00Speaker 11: this outter group live on Levy.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Thank you, Dave.
- 24:02Speaker 4: So what are we gonna tell me? What am I
- 24:03Speaker 4: gonna do?
- 24:04Speaker 13: Well?
- 24:04Speaker 11: You know, well, next week we have the live golf tournament.
- 24:06Speaker 11: I'm gonna be working out a little bit. There will
- 24:08Speaker 11: always be something. Maybe we did this a couple of
- 24:10Speaker 11: years ago. I just kept coming in on Friday to
- 24:12Speaker 11: talking about what was happening because we were so used
- 24:13Speaker 11: to talking about what was happening.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I know you're welcome. I know you're welcome me, so
- 24:17Speaker 3: I'll let you know. I'll keep you posting. Thanks for
- 24:19Speaker 3: the summer. Business Man in the world, man, bless your heart.
- 24:21Speaker 4: I love it.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Though idle hands they'll get you in trouble. So that's
- 24:24Speaker 3: why I try to stay busy. That's so I can say,
- 24:26Speaker 3: out of trouble.
- 24:28Speaker 4: How's it working out?
- 24:29Speaker 5: Well? So far?
- 24:30Speaker 3: We'll go there. That's another show, all right, Jail.
- 24:34Speaker 4: We'll see it tonight at Live on the Levee. Man,
- 24:35Speaker 4: and again, some of our folks are going to be there.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Dale Cooper is going to be hanging out there tonight
- 24:40Speaker 4: at Live on the Levee, So come on and check
- 24:42Speaker 4: it out. The Dave Land Show on five Any Live

- 24:58Speaker 4: golf discount, so can you repeat it? Yes, absolutely so,
- 25:02Speaker 4: in case you were tuning in too late. Earlier this week,
- 25:04Speaker 4: I had knock Any commission Ben Slango on the show
- 25:08Speaker 4: and a text to the show texted in and said,
- 25:11Speaker 4: is there anything we could do for some of the
- 25:13Speaker 4: golf places golf courses for our first responders? And the
- 25:18Speaker 4: commissioners seemed to like the idea, and yesterday afternoon they
- 25:21Speaker 4: made it public, he texted me yesterday afternoon and then
- 25:24Speaker 4: I think they made it the public after that that
- 25:26Speaker 4: based on the text to this show that we had
- 25:30Speaker 4: with Commissioner Salango was on earlier this week. Starting today,
- 25:33Speaker 4: there is now a ten percent discount offered to current
- 25:37Speaker 4: and pass military members and first responders. Now the discount
- 25:40Speaker 4: is good at the short course of coon Skin and
- 25:42Speaker 4: also at Big Ben. All you got to do is
- 25:44Speaker 4: show them, your military, your first responders ID and you're
- 25:47Speaker 4: going to get ten percent off for first responders and
- 25:51Speaker 4: passed or present military folks. Appreciate Commissioner Selango for taking
- 25:55Speaker 4: that to heart and kind of running with it in
- 25:57Speaker 4: the county and everybody that's involved, and appreciate the text

- 30:10Speaker 4: all dulled up.
- 30:11Speaker 16: Yes, sir, this is our twenty six Girls' Night Out.
- 30:14Speaker 17: We are the state's largest women only fundraiser, raising funds
- 30:18Speaker 17: for the awareness and funds for domestic violence and Family
- 30:22Speaker 17: Resolve program with at myw.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Now for Sandy cal. Why are you involved in this?
- 30:26Speaker 4: I mean, well, what makes this appealing to you? Because
- 30:28Speaker 4: there's ten thousand other charitable things are all great here
- 30:31Speaker 4: in the Canal Valley, But what is it about this?
- 30:33Speaker 4: That that said, I want to get involved with this.
- 30:35Speaker 16: Well, a little backstory real quick.
- 30:37Speaker 17: Mike Fulio, the amazing Mike folio from North Central Distributing,
- 30:40Speaker 17: gave me my first ticket and I was working for
- 30:43Speaker 17: red Bull North America at the time, and it was
- 30:46Speaker 17: my first event attending Girls' night Out. It was up
- 30:48Speaker 17: at the old former Clinbing Campbell Sunrise Museum and I
- 30:52Speaker 17: arrived donated some red Bull was totally consumed with how
- 30:56Speaker 17: the women came together and the camaraderie to make a
- 30:59Speaker 17: difference in our community. It was such a strong impact
- 31:02Speaker 17: on me that I am now still involved twenty years later.
- 31:05Speaker 4: I was going to say, what was the timeframe when
- 31:07Speaker 4: it twenty years ago?
- 31:07Speaker 17: Twenty years ago? Yeah, it really touched my heart. The
- 31:10Speaker 17: women really embraced me. It's a program that's well needed
- 31:14Speaker 17: in our area, especially in West Virginia. Domestic balance is
- 31:17Speaker 17: so prevalent right now, especially with the economy. You know,
- 31:19Speaker 17: most arguments and things like that happened from you know,
- 31:23Speaker 17: money paying the bills, and so I just felt like,
- 31:27Speaker 17: you know, what an impact I could make if I
- 31:30Speaker 17: just started being more involved and just every year I
- 31:32Speaker 17: would be more and more involved. When I was with
- 31:34Speaker 17: Nhezer Bush and then of course with bridgro Pistro, and
- 31:37Speaker 17: now just doing it because it's in my heart. I
- 31:40Speaker 17: believe I've wove it through my life. You know, everywhere
- 31:43Speaker 17: I go I talk about it. I try to get
- 31:45Speaker 17: food vendors, people involved. If you don't even go, just
- 31:48Speaker 17: get online at YWCA Charleston dot org and donate. You know,
- 31:52Speaker 17: we're just out here trying to give everyone a hands up,
- 31:55Speaker 17: you know, men, women. We even have a place for
- 31:58Speaker 17: children and pets, you know, because folks they threaten to
- 32:02Speaker 17: harm the pets. You know, if you leave, I'm going
- 32:04Speaker 17: to harm you know, little spot. So we want you
- 32:07Speaker 17: to have a place to bring your pets in our
- 32:09Speaker 17: secret shelter.
- 32:11Speaker 4: And there are so many things that go into this
- 32:13Speaker 4: that people. I mean, obviously you hear the words letters
- 32:16Speaker 4: why you know YWCA, and you think about a few
- 32:17Speaker 4: of the things that they do. But some things that
- 32:20Speaker 4: the organization does that I wasn't even aware of until
- 32:23Speaker 4: I started hosting folks like yourself, Marrily McAuliffe and others
- 32:26Speaker 4: come in and talking about this and seeing some of
- 32:27Speaker 4: the TV interviews with various people. One of those things
- 32:31Speaker 4: is sometimes there needs to be safe spaces for meetups, indeed,
- 32:37Speaker 4: for child transfers or something like that.
- 32:39Speaker 17: Talk about that, Well, the McDonald's is not working anymore,
- 32:42Speaker 17: So we offer a safe space for you to come
- 32:44Speaker 17: and transfer your children's You don't have to go out
- 32:47Speaker 17: into the public. It's just a safe space. We also
- 32:50Speaker 17: have advocates that help you with the courts system. You know,
- 32:52Speaker 17: it can be confusing, it can be overwhelming, and we
- 32:55Speaker 17: have folks that can really help you fill out that
- 32:57Speaker 17: sixteen page form and go to the those you know,
- 33:01Speaker 17: court scenarios where you need support, you know, and a
- 33:04Speaker 17: lot of folks are not knowing what to do. And
- 33:08Speaker 17: so we have advocates out there helping these folks. You know,
- 33:11Speaker 17: they actually can come and get them, you know, give
- 33:13Speaker 17: them advice, get them back on their feet. We have
- 33:16Speaker 17: a wonderful shelter that we raise these funds for that
- 33:19Speaker 17: goes you know. We just put in new AC units.
- 33:21Speaker 17: We have vehicles that we have to provide insurance for.
- 33:24Speaker 17: We have salaries we need to pay for these folks
- 33:26Speaker 17: at the YWCA. So there's a lot of things that
- 33:29Speaker 17: the budget is needed for. And girls ride out. We
- 33:32Speaker 17: fill a lot of that budget with the funds we raise.
- 33:34Speaker 4: It's amazing all the things that go into that. Like
- 33:36Speaker 4: I said, you may think of one or two things
- 33:38Speaker 4: on the top of your head, but there are so
- 33:39Speaker 4: many other things and other programs and services that the
- 33:42Speaker 4: organization offers. But it all costs money.
- 33:45Speaker 3: It does it does.
- 33:46Speaker 17: They help on average eighteen to two thousand people eighteen
- 33:50Speaker 17: hundred to two thousand people a year, you know, go
- 33:52Speaker 17: through our system. So it's a very important event. And
- 33:55Speaker 17: the more the merrier, and we have slid auction items,
- 33:58Speaker 17: food vendors, you know, all the things at our event tomorrow,
- 34:01Speaker 17: so we're super excited about it. Tickets are still for sale.
- 34:04Speaker 17: You can go on my w CAA Charleston dot org
- 34:07Speaker 17: and still get your tickets. We're still taking sponsorships. And
- 34:10Speaker 17: you know, if it's not for you, if this event's
- 34:11Speaker 17: not for you and you just don't want to go
- 34:13Speaker 17: out you're not into it, you're more than welcome to
- 34:15Speaker 17: go online and donate whatever you wish. We really welcome
- 34:18Speaker 17: anything you have, especially with the economy right now, you know,
- 34:21Speaker 17: we're just needing those numbers to hit, you know, every
- 34:24Speaker 17: year to keep this program going so we can keep
- 34:27Speaker 17: those safe places, you know, and.
- 34:28Speaker 4: This event, Sandy has become one of the premier Charleston
- 34:33Speaker 4: and Kanaw Valley events. You know, there's those four or
- 34:35Speaker 4: five things that you think about every year, you know,
- 34:38Speaker 4: I think about the Dancing with the Stars thing with
- 34:40Speaker 4: the United Way, or or of course for Gotta and
- 34:42Speaker 4: some of the big events like that. But this forra
- 34:44Speaker 4: one night event, this has become one of those iconic
- 34:48Speaker 4: things for Charleston.
- 34:48Speaker 16: Oh my gosh, thank you so much. That's just music
- 34:51Speaker 16: to my ear.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Well, I mean, you know it's been going on as
- 34:53Speaker 4: long as it has and it's kind of one of
- 34:55Speaker 4: those things too where you could kind of look at
- 34:57Speaker 4: your calendar and see where we are in summer, you know,
- 35:00Speaker 4: when Girls Not Out.
- 35:01Speaker 17: Has Indeed, Yeah, we try to schedule it about the
- 35:04Speaker 17: first or second week of August every year, you know,
- 35:07Speaker 17: let the kids get settled back in with their sports
- 35:10Speaker 17: and getting ready to go back to school, you know,
- 35:11Speaker 17: the vacations are ending. We try to be accommodating to
- 35:14Speaker 17: most women so they can attend you know, this event
- 35:16Speaker 17: and have some camaraderie with other women. And you know,
- 35:19Speaker 17: it's not all about the theme either. You know, you
- 35:22Speaker 17: can come as you are, you can feel all dolled
- 35:24Speaker 17: up and fatigues you can feel all dolled.
- 35:25Speaker 4: Up, however you feel dolled up.
- 35:27Speaker 16: Indeed, indeed, just come, you know, have a good time
- 35:30Speaker 16: with them.
- 35:31Speaker 4: It's very much and you gotta admit though that. I mean,
- 35:33Speaker 4: people look forward to this theme indeed every year, and
- 35:36Speaker 4: this year it's all dolled up and merely tells me
- 35:38Speaker 4: it was based on I guess a little bit of
- 35:41Speaker 4: the Barbie movie and the whole thing. Let's talk about that.
- 35:44Speaker 17: Yep, we we were dancing around the idea of the
- 35:47Speaker 17: Barbie theme, but of course it's trademark, so we had
- 35:49Speaker 17: to be very very very careful how we walked around that.
- 35:53Speaker 17: So we use the little font and basically it's more
- 35:56Speaker 17: welcoming to anyone that wants to come. You know, you
- 35:59Speaker 17: can be all all up in pink. I know, Marrily's
- 36:01Speaker 17: got a cute little dress coming and we're all excited
- 36:04Speaker 17: about it. You know, it's just a really good time
- 36:05Speaker 17: to get together with your friends once a year at least.
- 36:08Speaker 4: But if you don't want to do the all, you
- 36:10Speaker 4: can just show up. I mean, they're not going to
- 36:12Speaker 4: turn anybody away and volunteer.
- 36:14Speaker 17: You know, we love volunteers. Volunteers help make this all
- 36:16Speaker 17: come together. You know, of course you're looking at one
- 36:19Speaker 17: right here. I don't, you know, get any funds. I
- 36:21Speaker 17: enjoyed doing it. It's in my heart, it's what I
- 36:23Speaker 17: want to do. So, yeah, we love volunteers.
- 36:25Speaker 4: The men are allowed, but if they're gonna men are
- 36:27Speaker 4: going to come, they're going to have to work right.
- 36:29Speaker 17: Indeed, they need to go online, and we make sure
- 36:32Speaker 17: we do a background check, you know, because we don't
- 36:34Speaker 17: want any instances where we've had in the past where
- 36:37Speaker 17: passive users have used fake names and gotten into our
- 36:41Speaker 17: event and kind of made a less of things. Yes, yes,
- 36:44Speaker 17: it's gone that far as literally as last year. So
- 36:47Speaker 17: we do do background checks. We make sure that we
- 36:50Speaker 17: have proper security for the ladies. We want them to
- 36:52Speaker 17: feel safe at the event.
- 36:54Speaker 4: And again it's at the Cattle Seeman Convention Center, and
- 36:56Speaker 4: it's been I think at a couple of different places,
- 36:59Speaker 4: as you mentioned. I was at the one on the
- 37:00Speaker 4: Capitols a couple of years ago. Yeah, I was one
- 37:03Speaker 4: of the volunteers for that. It was at the Culture
- 37:05Speaker 4: Center that was there. But I think there's probably no
- 37:08Speaker 4: better place to have it. In my opinion than the
- 37:09Speaker 4: coliseum and convention solf.
- 37:11Speaker 16: Indeed, we're spoiled.
- 37:12Speaker 17: We have ac we're protected, we're inside security, parking, all
- 37:15Speaker 17: the things.
- 37:15Speaker 4: And once people are there, as you said, a variety
- 37:18Speaker 4: of different things, all kinds of food. Yes, indeed you
- 37:21Speaker 4: have my interest when you talk about the food.
- 37:23Speaker 17: Oh yes, And I need to brag on them please,
- 37:26Speaker 17: because you know these restaurants they really need supported.
- 37:28Speaker 16: We have the Great Venetian down in Milton.
- 37:30Speaker 17: They're on board for the first time this year with
- 37:33Speaker 17: their Italian concept LeBlanc. We have bricks and barrels on
- 37:37Speaker 17: board and I just learned this this year. Those folks
- 37:40Speaker 17: over there just brought smoking rolling smoke, so they're bringing
- 37:43Speaker 17: their barbecue concept as well. And we have Sergio's the
- 37:47Speaker 17: talk of the town. You know, he's he's coming on
- 37:50Speaker 17: board with his great Italian concept. And he also is
- 37:52Speaker 17: bringing on Guadalara, his Mexican restaurant concept, which he's got
- 37:55Speaker 17: a new one opening in Barbersville.
- 37:57Speaker 4: To Tanied Station.
- 37:58Speaker 17: I think, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's uh, it's pretty some
- 38:02Speaker 17: exciting stuff. We have Chick fil A on board, great, great,
- 38:05Speaker 17: great company. They support our volunteers every year. They do
- 38:08Speaker 17: all the things, Texas Roadhouse for the first time, bar
- 38:11Speaker 17: one oh one, them three brothers. My girl actually over there,
- 38:14Speaker 17: she's doing amazing things. Valley Cakes down in PoCA. They're
- 38:18Speaker 17: on board this year. Girl Scout Cookies, Shape Shop, and
- 38:21Speaker 17: Embassy Suites. We've got a great lineup this year with
- 38:24Speaker 17: Little Caesars, all the things. We could not do this
- 38:27Speaker 17: without our community pulling together for us. Dave, and thank
- 38:30Speaker 17: you so much for what you do for our event
- 38:32Speaker 17: as well well.
- 38:33Speaker 4: And I know this is not all about Sandy, but
- 38:35Speaker 4: you know, but no, no, totally unrelated to this event.
- 38:38Speaker 4: You know what, I'm gonna ask you, what do you
- 38:40Speaker 4: what do you do in zan I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 38:42Speaker 4: ask you. I'm gonna ask you is it? Are you
- 38:45Speaker 4: missing it? Are you missing the restaurant thing?
- 38:47Speaker 7: No?
- 38:48Speaker 3: I have a love.
- 38:49Speaker 16: She has a little little PTSD in the morning. Sometimes
- 38:52Speaker 16: I did. I think I'm enjoying my little sabbatical.
- 38:55Speaker 8: But who knows.
- 38:56Speaker 17: I may jump back in the pool, but right now
- 38:58Speaker 17: I'm just kind of enjoying the God Dot and my husband.
- 39:01Speaker 4: And you'll get back in it one way or the other.
- 39:04Speaker 16: You'll hear news. You'll hear news. Don't worry, but.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Enjoy your time away. All right, So let's talk about
- 39:09Speaker 4: again where people can learn more. Give us the website.
- 39:11Speaker 4: Tickets are still available, donations, the.
- 39:13Speaker 16: Whole deal, all the things.
- 39:15Speaker 17: Yes, go to YWCA Charleston dot org. Grab your tickets.
- 39:18Speaker 17: You can get hostess tickets. If you get a host's ticket,
- 39:21Speaker 17: you're guaranteed a bag ladies. So that's the way to go,
- 39:24Speaker 17: like swag bag, swag bag and it's a nice little
- 39:27Speaker 17: pink cooler. You can take a boating picnicking here at
- 39:30Speaker 17: the office. All the things. I will have great fantastic
- 39:33Speaker 17: food vendors. As I talked about libations, EJ the DJ
- 39:36Speaker 17: is going to be our DJ. Amazing, just amazing night
- 39:39Speaker 17: for all the gals to dance, hang out with each other.
- 39:42Speaker 17: See silent auction items. We have a great trip for
- 39:44Speaker 17: two for hiltonhead up for grabs. You can probably get
- 39:47Speaker 17: that for a really good deal. I'm hearing through the
- 39:50Speaker 17: great mone We've got Cincinnati Red's tickets coming. So we
- 39:53Speaker 17: got all kinds of great things that Ellen slant Nick
- 39:55Speaker 17: has put together for us. But the team of YWCA,
- 39:58Speaker 17: I tell you what day, we couldn't do any of
- 39:59Speaker 17: this without them. They are really hustling right now and
- 40:02Speaker 17: pulling together this event, and it's not easy pulling off
- 40:05Speaker 17: the state's largest woman only fundraiser.
- 40:07Speaker 4: I can imagine we'll have a good time, be safe
- 40:09Speaker 4: tomorrow night. I'm sure it'll be a great event at
- 40:11Speaker 4: the Kyle Seam And Convention Center, the annual Girls Night
- 40:13Speaker 4: Out to benefit the YWCAA Sandy call, I'll always appreciate

- 45:10Speaker 6: calls everywhere. But yeah, the event's gonna be great. We
- 45:14Speaker 6: are have some great sponsors. Betterhams and Garden is our
- 45:19Speaker 6: biggest sponsor. Again, you know, Josh McGrath are our broker,
- 45:24Speaker 6: is great at what he does in the community and
- 45:28Speaker 6: support ours agents and everything. So we also have in
- 45:32Speaker 6: Cova is one of our other sponsors. Best Title, Mark
- 45:38Speaker 6: Slotnik and Bailey and Whyatt. They're great. If you need
- 45:42Speaker 6: to close on a house or something, they are the
- 45:45Speaker 6: people to do it. Also we have Fife Street will
- 45:49Speaker 6: be out there and Johnny Thompson with Ian J. Thompson,
- 45:56Speaker 6: Heaty and Cooling is one of our other sponsors. They're
- 45:59Speaker 6: great people. His lovely wife Elizabeth just they do a
- 46:04Speaker 6: lot of things in the community. Louis Payne is another
- 46:08Speaker 6: one with Dickinson Salt Works. Uh, he's great in the
- 46:13Speaker 6: community too, and his lovely wife page. Uh. They're constantly
- 46:17Speaker 6: doing something, you know, to help others. He's also a
- 46:21Speaker 6: great friend. Just I love these people. When they you
- 46:25Speaker 6: ask him for something, they're right in there to jump
- 46:28Speaker 6: in there and help.
- 46:29Speaker 4: So, you know, a lot of people again coming out
- 46:32Speaker 4: for this thing. I want to talk about West Virginia
- 46:33Speaker 4: State a little bit. That's your that's your alma mater.
- 46:35Speaker 4: I mean I think you said, and uh, you and
- 46:37Speaker 4: Sandy were actually talking to the green room. You and
- 46:39Speaker 4: Sandy Call were there together.
- 46:41Speaker 6: We had a speech communication class which was hilarious.
- 46:45Speaker 4: I was gonna say we neither one of you had
- 46:46Speaker 4: had trouble with that class. I'm sure, I'm sure, but
- 46:48Speaker 4: they did did fine with that class. But but West
- 46:51Speaker 4: Virginia State, I mean, I have doctor Cage on the show,
- 46:54Speaker 4: you know, like once a month or so, just talk
- 46:57Speaker 4: about the different things going on there. It's really a
- 46:58Speaker 4: special place here in West Virginia with a whole lot
- 47:01Speaker 4: of folks that went that went to that institution.
- 47:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean President Cage is doing a great job,
- 47:08Speaker 6: you know, raising money and supporting my Actually my dad
- 47:12Speaker 6: went there in nineteen fifty four. Really yeah, So and
- 47:17Speaker 6: then I went in eighty nine of my age a
- 47:20Speaker 6: little bit, but that's.
- 47:21Speaker 4: That's why I was in college at that time too.
- 47:22Speaker 6: Go ahead, But yeah, the atmosphere there was great. You
- 47:28Speaker 6: know the campus I was. I loved it there. It's
- 47:31Speaker 6: very beautiful there and got a great education.
- 47:35Speaker 4: And specifically, when you're raising money for this at this
- 47:38Speaker 4: golf outing, which is going to be Monday, Sleepy Hollow, weird,
- 47:40Speaker 4: does that money go, It'll.
- 47:42Speaker 6: Go to the golf program. Right now, we're trying to
- 47:45Speaker 6: get enough money to have assimilator so when the students
- 47:49Speaker 6: are on campus they can come and use that. I
- 47:52Speaker 6: would like. The long goal was that open it up
- 47:55Speaker 6: and down the road. Does even let like middle school
- 47:58Speaker 6: and high school first Tea program, you know, to come
- 48:02Speaker 6: and use the facility. So I'm looking at a building
- 48:05Speaker 6: and you know, really out reach out to the community
- 48:10Speaker 6: for you know, the use.
- 48:12Speaker 4: I've had people from that first Tea program on the
- 48:14Speaker 4: show in the past, and it's a great it's a
- 48:16Speaker 4: wonderful program, and it's designed to try to get kids
- 48:20Speaker 4: involved in golf. And it's designed not to get how
- 48:24Speaker 4: can I say this, make it politically correct, not just
- 48:26Speaker 4: to get what you think of when you think of golfers.
- 48:28Speaker 4: They're really working like what otherwise would be disadvantaged kids
- 48:32Speaker 4: to try to get them to pick up the sport.
- 48:35Speaker 6: Yeah, Jeff, the directors does a great job. The teachers
- 48:39Speaker 6: they have out there, you know, Chuck Rose and Sarah,
- 48:44Speaker 6: they're just I'm amazed by it. And they have great
- 48:47Speaker 6: numbers out there. A lot of kids come out there.
- 48:50Speaker 6: They have a women's program out there. It's a very
- 48:53Speaker 6: good program. I enjoy helping them.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Yeah. And again we're talking with Sonny Anderson here from
- 49:00Speaker 4: I was gonna say from West Virginia State. But you're
- 49:02Speaker 4: not technically, you're just raising money for West Virginia State,
- 49:04Speaker 4: right right, right?
- 49:06Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 49:06Speaker 4: Yeah, but Dave Alan Chilling five any Lie Bright too
- 49:09Speaker 4: part by Morgan to Oregon, America's largest injury law firm.
- 49:12Speaker 6: So you a golfer yourself, Yes, And actually I am
- 49:15Speaker 6: the golf coach at West Virginia State, right.
- 49:17Speaker 7: I knew that?
- 49:18Speaker 4: Why did I'm sorry? Yeah, I actually knew that. I
- 49:20Speaker 4: actually forgot that. I know the state had a golf program.
- 49:25Speaker 6: I it was off and on. But I've been the
- 49:28Speaker 6: golf coach for about seven years now. Yeah, when I
- 49:31Speaker 6: went in eighty nine, of course, they didn't have it then.
- 49:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:35Speaker 6: And I was actually sitting at a basketball game and
- 49:41Speaker 6: at that time was Sean Lloyd and he was the
- 49:46Speaker 6: acting athletic director and baseball coach, and he was complaining
- 49:51Speaker 6: that he didn't have a coach. And I turned around,
- 49:53Speaker 6: I was like, I can do that. He is ad
- 49:56Speaker 6: come in and he hired me the next day and
- 49:58Speaker 6: I've been the coach since.
- 50:00Speaker 4: Is this I mean part of the I guess the
- 50:01Speaker 4: whole Mountain Conference thing. And you play the other schools
- 50:04Speaker 4: in West Virginia primarily.
- 50:05Speaker 6: We have about ten in that conference and you know
- 50:10Speaker 6: U S and it's probably the most dominant in there.
- 50:14Speaker 6: But I think we'll catch them here sooner or later.
- 50:17Speaker 4: Has the challenge been lady been thrown down? Sonny? Is
- 50:19Speaker 4: that what you're saying?
- 50:20Speaker 6: Yeah, that's right. Will Johnson as their coach.
- 50:22Speaker 10: I'm always on him.
- 50:25Speaker 6: With my program. We do have a lot of local talent.
- 50:29Speaker 6: I have kids from Herbert Hoover, Capital Point, Pleasant, Saint
- 50:34Speaker 6: Albans and Nitro. So I love recruiting local kids.
- 50:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll give them something to do and plus getting
- 50:41Speaker 4: an education too is and that's West Virginia State I
- 50:44Speaker 4: think just does as you mentioned Eric Cage and the
- 50:47Speaker 4: fantastic things that they do there. I mean, it's just
- 50:50Speaker 4: they've they's always been a great institution, Sonny, but it's
- 50:53Speaker 4: grown so much under him. It's just a wonderful place.
- 50:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:55Speaker 6: He's added you know, programs to it, doctor and programs,
- 51:00Speaker 6: and he's.
- 51:00Speaker 4: Doing good to get that School of Agriculture finally too,
- 51:02Speaker 4: which is what it was all based on to begin with.
- 51:05Speaker 6: Yeah, when my dad went, he you could take your
- 51:08Speaker 6: pilot's license. Oh really, Yeah, yeah, it's pretty neat.
