- Lucas: Hey everyone. Welcome back to Learn German with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is good to be back with you all. We are doing great so far. Lucas: We really are. Last episode we talked about depth. Is the water shallow or deep? This is important. Luna: Right. Because if you do not know the depth, you might swim somewhere dangerous. Lucas: Exactly. So today, we are staying at the pool. But we are looking at signs. Rules. Safety. Luna: Oh, I see them everywhere. Red circles with a line through them. They look serious. Lucas: They are very clear. Let us start with one big sign. One that people often ignore. Luna: Is it the one near the diving board? The one that says no diving? Lucas: Good guess. But let us start with something even bigger. Walking into the main hall. Luna: I see a sign right by the door. It has a picture of a person swimming with a red line. Lucas: Yes. That is the first rule. Listen carefully. Schwimmen verboten. Luna: Schwimmen verboten. That means swimming forbidden? Lucas: Exactly. No swimming allowed. Maybe the water is too cold. Or maybe it is just for exercise. Luna: Ah. So if I want to swim, I must find another area. Otherwise, it is verboten. Lucas: Correct. Schwimmen verboten. Let me say it slowly. Schwimmen verboten. Luna: Schwimmen verboten. Okay. I remember that one. It is very strict. Lucas: It is for safety. Now, look deeper into the pool area. Do you see another sign? Luna: Yes. There is a sign pointing down. With a diver and a red line through him. Lucas: Perfect. That is for jumping in. We call this Kein Tauchen. Luna: Kein Tauchen. No diving. I have seen this many times. It keeps people from hitting their heads. Lucas: It does. Especially in shallow water. Keep your head up. Kein Tauchen. Luna: Kein Tauchen. Got it. No diving. I will keep my feet on the floor then. Lucas: Good choice. Now, imagine you are sitting on the edge. Your phone falls in. Luna: Oh no. My worst fear. What should I do? Jump in? Lucas: No. Wait. Look at the lifeguard. He points at you. He shouts a phrase. Luna: He wants me out? Raus aus dem Wasser? Lucas: Yes. Raus aus dem Wasser. Out of the water. Immediately. Luna: Raus aus dem Wasser. That sounds urgent. Like a command. Lucas: It is a command. You follow it fast. Raus aus dem Wasser. Luna: Raus aus dem Wasser. Okay. I am out. I am on the deck now. Lucas: Good. Now you are walking away. You are excited about your phone. Luna: I run a little bit. Fast steps. Slippery floor. Lucas: Stop. Look at the wall. A big yellow sign. Nicht rennen. Luna: Nicht rennen. Not running. Oh. I see why. Wet floors are slippery. Lucas: Very slippery. And dangerous. Nicht rennen. Walk calmly. Luna: Nicht rennen. I slow down. I walk carefully. Better safe than sorry. Lucas: Exactly. One last thing. Before you leave the pool area. Luna: What is it? Another sign? Lucas: It is a general feeling. A warning. Aufpassen. Luna: Aufpassen. Be careful. Watch out. Like pay attention. Lucas: Yes. Use your eyes. Use your brain. Aufpassen. Luna: Aufpassen. I feel much safer knowing these words. Thank you, Lucas. Lucas: You are welcome. Luna: Schwimmen verboten. No swimming allowed. I see the sign clearly now. Lucas: Kein Tauchen. No diving. Important for the deep end. Luna: Raus aus dem Wasser. Out of the water. If the lifeguard says so. Lucas: Nicht rennen. No running. Walk on the wet tiles. Luna: Aufpassen. Be careful. Always watch where you go. Lucas: Great job. Practice these until we chat again. See you next time.
