On Sunday, December 15, 1974, the New York Jets faced the Baltimore Colts at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore for a week 14 of the 1974 NFL season.

The Jets were coached by Charlie Winner, who had taken over for Weeb U-Bank after he moved to the front office following the 1973 season.

U-Bank resigned from GM halfway through the season, however, after starting off with a 1-7 record.

That lit a fire under the team, and they entered this game on a five-game win streak.

The Colts were coached by Joe Thomas, who had taken over for Howard Schellenberger after an 0-3 start.

But the team was still abysmal, entering this game with a 2-11 record, which continued their seller-dweller status after having won just four games in 1973, following the loss of Johnny Unitus.

While we have a moment or two, there's been a great deal of talk from last week to now about whether or not Joe will be with the ball club next year.

And Dave Herman, who broke the story last week on the free game show, when Joe said he did not think he'd be back with the Jets next year,

Well, I haven't heard anything differently, Marty, but I think, really, that I think Joe will be back next year.

I think there's going to be a financial decision he has to make, and I think the owners of the New York Jets are going to make that decision for him.

They're going to give him what he needs to come back and play.

And I say this for a lot of reasons.

Number one, they have a great combination going out there now.

They're on a six-game winning streak, and if they win the day, it'll be a six-game winning streak, that they will have won the last six games.

Not only that, the New York Jets, you have to remember, cannot play any exhibition games at home.

And so their big attraction to get exhibition games, where a lot of money is being made, is because they have a Joe name.

People will give them a game in another state, in Princeton, in Dallas, or in New England Patriots, or something like that.

They will want to play the New York Jets because Joe is there.
