- 0:00Hey everybody, are you having a great day?
- 0:02Yes.
- 0:03Oh no, you're not?
- 0:05It's okay, I got you.
- 0:07I'm Tif Loeffler, welcome to Positively Yours.
- 0:10I'm gonna share Tif's tips, techniques,
- 0:12and a little bit of magic to help you up level
- 0:15and have a great day every day.
- 0:18Are you ready to get started?
- 0:20Yeah!
- 0:21Oh, you're not?
- 0:22That's okay, I still got you.
- 0:24Let's go.
- 0:27Hey everybody, welcome to season two, episode one.
- 0:32I am super excited to be here
- 0:34because I am here to talk about time.
- 0:37And now, for our tip of the day for this session,
- 0:43I wanna talk about timers.
- 0:45Yes, I wanna get right to it and say,
- 0:48if you only have a few minutes to listen to me, I get ya.
- 0:51And here's what we're talking about, timers.
- 0:54I love timers.
- 0:55I am currently holding up my phone.
- 0:57Now, this can be the biggest distraction on the planet.
- 1:00I have worked through some stuff this summer.
- 1:03And also, it can be such a gift,
- 1:06and it is the gift of timers.
- 1:08I am going to start my timer right now
- 1:11and I'm gonna show it to you.
- 1:12Ta-da, it's countdown.
- 1:14I set up five minutes because I wanted to make sure
- 1:19that I had enough time to explain why I feel timers
- 1:22are so important before introducing the guest
- 1:25for this entire season, Danielle Benzon,
- 1:28and I'm super excited.
- 1:30Now, the reason I love timers is, well, for many reasons.
- 1:36Number one, I don't know about you,
- 1:39but you can get quite distracted throughout your day.
- 1:42And if we're talking about how to have a great day,
- 1:45if you have distractions that keep you
- 1:48from acknowledging your great day,
- 1:51that can be a problem or at least a little bit of an issue.
- 1:54Therefore, when you set a timer for yourself,
- 1:57you are giving yourself permission to celebrate
- 2:00when that timer arrives in whatever melodious tone you want.
- 2:05Now, another reason that I absolutely love timers
- 2:08is because you get to customize the melodious tones
- 2:11that come out of it when the timer is ready to announce
- 2:15that you have something
- 2:16that you are either going to think about.
- 2:20It could be something as simple as taking a breath.
- 2:23I don't know if you're thinking,
- 2:25hey, we do breathe on our own, thank goodness.
- 2:29But there are times where we're really either involved
- 2:33in a project or in a stressful situation.
- 2:35We're super busy.
- 2:37Maybe we're not busy at all.
- 2:39It's nice to have a timer set
- 2:41to give yourself a time to reset.
- 2:44Now, I am absolutely fascinated by how the mind works,
- 2:49how the brain engages
- 2:51with all of those different neural pathways.
- 2:54And sometimes it's a well-worn groove,
- 2:57especially if you have been in a rut.
- 3:01You are doing the same thing over and over.
- 3:03The days look the same.
- 3:05They're blending into each other.
- 3:07I don't know what day it is.
- 3:08I don't know what I'm doing.
- 3:10Does that sound familiar?
- 3:12It could be familiar once in a while
- 3:13or familiar a lot.
- 3:15And in this case, when you set a timer,
- 3:18you are giving your body, your magnificent brain,
- 3:21a chance to go, boing, wait a minute,
- 3:24I want to reset my thought.
- 3:26And it can be as simple as when the timer goes off,
- 3:30look down, what does it say?
- 3:32Here's another reason I love timers.
- 3:34You can customize what they say
- 3:35when they are ready to reveal themselves to you.
- 3:38It can be as simple as, hey, you've got a call coming up.
- 3:41Yes, that's super fun.
- 3:43Breathing much, question mark?
- 3:45Make it funny.
- 3:46Just like, did you eat today?
- 3:49Where's your snack?
- 3:51Do you need a nap?
- 3:54How's your hair?
- 3:56Is there anything in your teeth?
- 3:57I'm just coming up with just anything
- 3:59I can think of off the top of my head
- 4:00because it really doesn't matter.
- 4:03What matters is that you have taken the time
- 4:07to give yourself those moments
- 4:09of bringing yourself into the present
- 4:11because that's where all the power is, people.
- 4:13I will be on that.
- 4:15It's gonna be on like Donkey Kong, okay?
- 4:17You got to know that you're in the present moment
- 4:19and that's where the power is.
- 4:23So when would you set these timers?
- 4:25Oh, I'm so glad I asked that question
- 4:27because guess what?
- 4:28This is also customizable.
- 4:30You can start it off in the evening.
- 4:33You can just have a bunch of timers.
- 4:36Get ready.
- 4:37Or you could have your timer set
- 4:41whenever you feel like it.
- 4:43You can set a timer for when you have a sudden thought,
- 4:49maybe, oh my gosh, I just realized.
- 4:52I have an appointment in like an hour.
- 4:54Set a timer.
- 4:55I know you're thinking,
- 4:56well, I'm sure I can remember in an hour.
- 4:58Oh no, oh no.
- 5:00I assure you there are so many times
- 5:02when I have thought, oh, it's no problem.
- 5:04I'm gonna remember this.
- 5:06And then I get a text from someone that says,
- 5:08were we supposed to be meeting?
- 5:09Oh, let's eliminate that problem.
- 5:11Let's celebrate the fact that there's the timer happening.
- 5:16And I'm looking down, I'm like,
- 5:17oh, I got about 53 seconds left.
- 5:20Oh, here is one more thing I love about looking at my phone
- 5:24is that when you look at your screen,
- 5:28I've been told, now this is just a bit of a non sequitur,
- 5:31but I got a few seconds.
- 5:32To put something on your home screen,
- 5:35it is people, places, or things that inspire you.
- 5:40Why are you doing what you're doing?
- 5:42Okay, when we're in business, it can be so easy.
- 5:43Oh gosh, why am I even doing this?
- 5:44Well, on my screen, I have these three cute little girls.
- 5:49They are my boyfriend's grandchildren
- 5:51and they are all so adorable.
- 5:54They are the sweetest girls.
- 5:55I love them so much.
- 5:56And it's so fun when I open my screen, I look at it.
- 5:59And if I'm checking my timer, you know what?
- 6:01It's just a beautiful, conscious reminder.
- 6:04We are here to connect with people.
- 6:07And that reminds me after this,
- 6:08I'm gonna set a timer to check my calendar
- 6:11to schedule a call with them.
- 6:12But guess what?
- 6:13Now I'm hearing some melodious sounds,
- 6:16which means that that wraps it up for my tips tip
- 6:20for the day on how to have a great day.
- 6:22And it is all about setting timers.
- 6:25Choose what you're gonna say on it.
- 6:27Choose your own melody.
- 6:28And when that timer arrives,
- 6:31be present with it for just a moment.
- 6:34And as a bonus, every time a timer goes off,
- 6:37just take a nice full breath.
- 6:39I know you're breathing on autopilot,
- 6:40but just take an awesome breath.
- 6:43And now without further ado,
- 6:46I am so excited that I am bringing to the stage
- 6:50basically my co-host for this season.
- 6:52And I am absolutely thrilled.
- 6:54Danielle Benzon of Inspired Speaker Academy
- 6:57had graciously invited me into the podcasting realm.
- 7:02And oh boy, has it been an awesome ride.
- 7:04And today she is actually going to be talking with me
- 7:08about the theme today is about scheduling time, schedules.
- 7:13It can be a big thing, but if you break it down
- 7:15and Danielle is gonna share with you how she's helping me.
- 7:19And I'll give you a couple examples also,
- 7:21because it's really important for you to schedule your time
- 7:24for you above all else.
- 7:27Without further ado, I'm so delighted.
- 7:29I get to share the stage today with Danielle.
- 7:31Danielle, thank you so much for being here today.
- 7:34Round of applause.
- 7:35Oh, I love the round of applause.
- 7:37Thank you so much, Tif.
- 7:39I am so happy to be here.
- 7:40Time is one of my favorite things to geek out about
- 7:44outside of what I do in my career.
- 7:46I get really, really geeky about different ways
- 7:48to save time and productivity and all that kind of stuff.
- 7:51So I'm really excited to talk about this.
- 7:52I also wanted to say,
- 7:54because I was listening to your tip.
- 7:57I only use one sound on my alarm,
- 8:00but it is the most beautiful.
- 8:02It's birds singing in the morning
- 8:04and it's just the birds start.
- 8:06And by the time there is a kind of melody to it,
- 8:09but it's about 10 seconds in.
- 8:12And I always hear the timer.
- 8:13I always hear it and catch it before the melody hits.
- 8:16And I love it because it's just like,
- 8:17oh, birds are singing.
- 8:19It just makes me so happy.
- 8:20So yeah, I love it.
- 8:24Oh, thank you for that.
- 8:25I love that.
- 8:26And you know what?
- 8:27Thank you for the option.
- 8:29Is there just your go-to timer?
- 8:31Yes.
- 8:32I myself like the experimentation
- 8:34because I'll tell you some timers,
- 8:37I will not be paying attention.
- 8:39They're really pretty, but they're a little subtle.
- 8:42Not that I want the,
- 8:44that jumps me out of my seat,
- 8:47but you might want to enjoy trying out a few
- 8:51and seeing which works for you.
- 8:54Yeah.
- 8:55If I have too much novelty, I won't recognize it.
- 8:57So for me, I have to,
- 8:59I've got that stimulus response thing going.
- 9:01So I need to have the same timer every time
- 9:02because within two seconds, as soon as it starts,
- 9:06I hear it and my body is primed.
- 9:08I'll hear it.
- 9:08No one else can hear it in the other room, but I can hear it.
- 9:10So it's one of those, everyone's different.
- 9:12So some people need novelty.
- 9:13Some people need that consistency.
- 9:18Danielle, this is just one of the reasons
- 9:20that I love being a part of your world.
- 9:22Thank you.
- 9:23Because you just brought something that,
- 9:26you know, you can think about what you're going to say
- 9:28and then someone brings a new element to it
- 9:29and you think, aha, that's brilliant.
- 9:31I love that.
- 9:32Thank you for sharing.
- 9:33So thank you for sharing.
- 9:37Now, thank you.
- 9:38Today is all about,
- 9:41well, I'm going to say scheduling, calendars and time.
- 9:45If I were to start, and then Danielle,
- 9:47if you could please offer your thoughts,
- 9:50because there are many and I appreciate all of them.
- 9:53When I first became Danielle's client,
- 9:56I had a crazy, full, busy calendar, or was it?
- 10:05I can't say that it, to me, I thought it was being busy
- 10:09and being very, like, I had it color-coded.
- 10:13There were a couple things.
- 10:14I don't know if you can remember.
- 10:16I can remember too, but I wanted you to start off like,
- 10:18when you are with a client,
- 10:19you're trying to help them get their calendar straight.
- 10:22Yeah.
- 10:23What are some of the common themes?
- 10:24And if you think of anything about me personally,
- 10:25please feel free to share,
- 10:26because we're here to get this figured out for people,
- 10:29myself included.
- 10:30Well, you know, this isn't really a service
- 10:33that I kind of think that I offer.
- 10:35This is something I more do with my friends
- 10:36more than my clients,
- 10:37but, you know, we end up doing,
- 10:39this is the wonderful thing about what I do
- 10:40is that I just kind of show up
- 10:42and give my clients whatever they need.
- 10:44I have a speciality, which is the voice and speaking,
- 10:47but occasionally-
- 10:48Yes, yes, you do, yes.
- 10:49You know, occasionally, speakers need,
- 10:51well, this is the fun thing, right?
- 10:52It keeps my life exciting,
- 10:54because occasionally, the speaker's like,
- 10:56you know what, yes, we're working on the speaking,
- 10:58but also, my life's a mess
- 11:00and I need to schedule it a bit better.
- 11:02And I'm like, oh, I love scheduling, let's do that.
- 11:04And so it keeps my life really, really fun.
- 11:06And I really enjoy doing it.
- 11:08So, this is really fun.
- 11:10I'm like, I'm not like a professional gibber or anything,
- 11:12but I really do enjoy it.
- 11:14And I've had to wrangle my own schedule so much.
- 11:18And I've been-
- 11:19Love that word.
- 11:20I've been in charge of my own time for-
- 11:23Yes.
- 11:24Oh, goodness, like the last 15 years.
- 11:26So, I've had a lot of practice.
- 11:28One of the things that I see the most
- 11:30is that people try to keep everything in their head.
- 11:33They don't write it down.
- 11:34And when you don't write it down,
- 11:36especially if you write some things down,
- 11:38but not everything down,
- 11:40you can overload and double book
- 11:42without realizing you're doing it.
- 11:43Well, I don't have that much on today.
- 11:45Oh, I also have this regular call,
- 11:47but I don't write on my calendar
- 11:48because it happens every week.
- 11:50And I also have to do this work.
- 11:52And I also have to go for a walk.
- 11:53And I also have to go shopping.
- 11:55And then suddenly you're looking at your day and going,
- 11:58well, that's about 47 hours in that day.
- 12:02How am I going to do that today?
- 12:04So, forcing yourself to write everything down
- 12:07and get in reality about it.
- 12:09That is one of the most important things, I think,
- 12:12because we tend to gloss over things.
- 12:17Like, oh, I don't need, that's not important.
- 12:19I'll remember that.
- 12:19I don't need to write it down.
- 12:20You're not writing it down to remember it.
- 12:22You're writing it down to see the relationship
- 12:24between the different activities that you've got.
- 12:26So that I think is the biggest one.
- 12:29And then something else that I find extremely useful.
- 12:32I use timers all the time for so many different things.
- 12:36If you don't know how to spend your time,
- 12:39this is one of the best things that I've ever done.
- 12:41If you don't know how you spend your time,
- 12:43set a timer for every 10 or 15 minutes
- 12:46and just write down what you're doing.
- 12:49Every 10 or 15 minutes, write down what you're doing.
- 12:52Just have like a little spreadsheet or something.
- 12:53Do it for a week or two.
- 12:56It's amazing.
- 12:58And also, it's amazing how you think,
- 13:01oh, those dishes are going to take hours.
- 13:03They took 15 minutes.
- 13:04You watch YouTube for three hours.
- 13:06You know, it's all these little things
- 13:08that we lie to ourselves about.
- 13:10So it's a humbling experience,
- 13:14but it's very, very necessary to get.
- 13:17If you're going to get productive,
- 13:19if you're going to get real about where you are
- 13:21and what you're doing,
- 13:22it is necessary to track everything.
- 13:26I so appreciate that you brought that up.
- 13:29And I certainly, let's be clear, everybody.
- 13:32Danielle is a speaker coach, correct?
- 13:36This is about being a speaker.
- 13:38And also, if you don't manage your time.
- 13:43So I appreciate that you offer,
- 13:45I'm going to call it super awesome bonus,
- 13:47super awesome bonus happy time,
- 13:49because I did do that for a few days.
- 13:52Yes, it is.
- 13:53It's what it is.
- 13:54And I will say curated, okay?
- 13:57And this is why I highly recommend working with Danielle,
- 13:59because throughout this season,
- 14:01we're going to be talking about all manner of things.
- 14:03And that's why I'm so thrilled
- 14:05that she has graciously gifted me her time
- 14:09to be with me on this season,
- 14:10simply because I just love being with you.
- 14:14And also, I just love hearing what you have to say,
- 14:17because it's amazing.
- 14:19I would also like to add, I did do that for a few days.
- 14:23I appreciate, Danielle, that you told me you need some data.
- 14:26When you have the data, now we can work with it.
- 14:30Ladies and gentlemen, I went through the numbers.
- 14:33There were two things that, wow.
- 14:37Yes, there was that I wasn't keeping track of my time
- 14:39with all of the distractions, doom scrolling much.
- 14:43And also, there was one other aspect
- 14:46that you have helped me with.
- 14:49And I'd like to talk about that just a little bit.
- 14:51And it's just about, are you in the day for yourself,
- 14:55or have you given your day away to other people?
- 15:00And that was the revelation this summer for me.
- 15:04And it was very, not only humbling, it was embarrassing.
- 15:07I swear, I felt shameful.
- 15:09That was not on Danielle.
- 15:10That was me feeling, and she helped me through that.
- 15:12I felt just completely gobsmacked.
- 15:17I just wanted to use that word.
- 15:18Because when I started to add up the hours,
- 15:21and I was doing all these other things for people
- 15:23that were not myself or my business,
- 15:26it added up so quickly.
- 15:27I have to admit, I almost lost my lunch at one point,
- 15:31because I started adding up the hours,
- 15:34the days, the weeks, the months, the years.
- 15:40I suddenly had a lot of data to look at.
- 15:43Danielle, I appreciate so much
- 15:46that you have helped me understand,
- 15:50what are you doing for yourself?
- 15:52Are you in your business, your day?
- 15:54What's going on?
- 15:55And this is part of why you almost kind of treat your life
- 15:58like a project manager.
- 15:59Okay, which project does this belong to?
- 16:00Does this belong to self-care?
- 16:02Does this belong to my business?
- 16:04Does this belong to relationships?
- 16:06Does this belong to potential client relationships?
- 16:09Does this belong to delivering my product?
- 16:12Does this belong to marketing?
- 16:13You've got to get serious about your categories as well.
- 16:16And it's not that, ah, we should be unbalanced.
- 16:20You need rest.
- 16:21You need social time.
- 16:22You need all of those things.
- 16:24And I think actually that's,
- 16:26and for you as well, and for me,
- 16:28those were the things that were getting dropped
- 16:31was the social time and the rest and the self-care
- 16:34because we're like, oh, I'm so busy all the time.
- 16:36I'm working so hard.
- 16:37So you've got to schedule those things in too.
- 16:39And you've got to treat those as important
- 16:43as an appointment with your clients.
- 16:45So if I have an appointment with myself
- 16:47to look after myself or a date night with my spouse
- 16:50or whatever it is, I need to keep that appointment
- 16:53and treat it as it has that same hierarchy
- 16:57as a sales call.
- 16:59Know what I mean?
- 17:01Yes, well, now I do.
- 17:06And are we there yet?
- 17:07No, everyone, life is many.
- 17:10And what I love is having someone, a mentor,
- 17:16a coach like Danielle, who there's no judgment here.
- 17:19It's just, okay, you got some data.
- 17:20All right, this is what you've been doing.
- 17:21Okay, let's make a few tweaks.
- 17:23The next week, looking it over.
- 17:26And of course, I would love to hang out with you
- 17:28all the time, but as things change,
- 17:31then you're not able to as much with people,
- 17:34but that's okay because it's so much fun
- 17:37to schedule that time.
- 17:39And if I were to also say, it's so fun
- 17:41to very consciously schedule time with your team.
- 17:47And your team is whoever you want it to be.
- 17:49Your team, I certainly hope,
- 17:51and this is something that I'm now adjusting
- 17:53as we are in fall, we're in the autumnal time.
- 17:57And I am looking at something to work on happily
- 18:03is to be more solid on my team,
- 18:06scheduling time with the people
- 18:08who are helping me move forward
- 18:11and not using up my time, not draining my energy.
- 18:15It happens once in a while, I get it.
- 18:17I'm sure I do that to people.
- 18:19I love my high energy level,
- 18:20but once in a while, I'm sure it gets a little much
- 18:22and that's okay, know thyself.
- 18:25However, I also know that it's really important
- 18:30to be there for people and to schedule time with them.
- 18:34The number one person I want you to think about
- 18:38who's listening today is,
- 18:41are you scheduling time for yourself?
- 18:43And I did hear this a few years ago from someone
- 18:46and he told me, he said, schedule time for yourself
- 18:50and guard it, be a warrior for your time.
- 18:53And admittedly that had fallen away.
- 18:55So that's another reason why I really wanted this time
- 18:57with Danielle, because I wanted to express
- 19:01how important I feel it is to make sure
- 19:04that you take the time to schedule time for yourself.
- 19:10And this is the thing, and this is a word
- 19:12we haven't said yet, but we've been kind of circling around,
- 19:15intention.
- 19:17Your timers are making you very intentional.
- 19:20Even if all you're doing is checking in,
- 19:22even if that's the only thing you're doing
- 19:24with your timer is going, oh, how am I feeling?
- 19:26What am I doing right now?
- 19:28Suddenly your awareness is open, turned on, switched on,
- 19:32and you're like, oh, I'm being intentional
- 19:34about my time now.
- 19:35I may not make my choices any different,
- 19:37but it's intentional now, it's not on autopilot.
- 19:40And the same for scheduling.
- 19:43If I'm being intentional about who I'm spending time with,
- 19:47curating all of that stuff, it's so important.
- 19:53Oh, I really appreciate that you talked
- 19:54about the intentionality.
- 19:56And another thing that I appreciated was,
- 20:01now everyone, it doesn't have to be,
- 20:03it could be whoever you want it to be,
- 20:05but I highly recommend that initially
- 20:08you can just sit down with a friend.
- 20:09It can even be on the phone.
- 20:10You can just say, hey, guess what?
- 20:12I need to schedule some time to schedule some time.
- 20:15And what are you doing right now?
- 20:17Because my bestie, she works at home
- 20:19and I could call her up and go,
- 20:21hey, can you just be on the phone with me for a little bit
- 20:23while I work on something?
- 20:24And she'd be like, no problem, I'm working on emails.
- 20:26I get you.
- 20:27I had one person help me set up an account
- 20:31while they were just doing their thing
- 20:32and I'm doing my thing.
- 20:34But it is really nice to have someone that,
- 20:40and Daniel, I know this isn't so much about scheduling,
- 20:42but that whole accountability thing,
- 20:44up until working with you, I always felt,
- 20:47well, accountability means they're gonna show up
- 20:49and say, well, did you get it all done?
- 20:50And I'm gonna say no.
- 20:51And they're gonna say, well, that's bad.
- 20:52And then I'll feel bad.
- 20:53So I don't want an accountability person.
- 20:55I don't like the word accountability.
- 20:56I don't want to be accountable at all.
- 20:58Fine.
- 20:59Then the sassy bratty inner four-year-old said, no.
- 21:03But now I understand that it really is nice
- 21:06to have someone that you can connect with and say,
- 21:10okay, I am going to schedule some time.
- 21:15And Daniel, can we talk about the recurring?
- 21:18Because recurring is so important too.
- 21:22Unless there's something else you wanna say first.
- 21:24Unless there's something else you wanna say first.
- 21:26Because I also have, I have that little inner teenager
- 21:28who gets really defiant.
- 21:31So the first thing I wanna say is,
- 21:34accountability is not about punishment
- 21:37or it's not like we think about school and homework
- 21:39and that kind of thing.
- 21:41Accountability is just about ownership.
- 21:44And just own your choices.
- 21:45Say, you know what?
- 21:46I didn't do that because this was more important.
- 21:49Great.
- 21:50There's nothing wrong with that.
- 21:51Own your choices.
- 21:53Don't stress about, well, other people think
- 21:56this might, this must be more important
- 21:58or I set that goal and then I didn't reach it.
- 22:00Okay.
- 22:01You probably had a really good reason.
- 22:03If you didn't have a really good reason
- 22:04and you feel like you're betraying yourself,
- 22:08okay, great, we get to work on that.
- 22:11It's not a, you didn't do the thing,
- 22:14punish, punish, punish.
- 22:16It's an awareness tool.
- 22:17That's what accountability is.
- 22:18Ownership and awareness.
- 22:19So that's the first thing.
- 22:20And then the other thing you said,
- 22:23and I just really wanted to hit on,
- 22:24oh no, it's gone.
- 22:26Oh yeah, the inner teenager.
- 22:29I prefer to track my time.
- 22:31I do schedule my time.
- 22:33But I don't schedule my time as granularly
- 22:37as I track it.
- 22:41I track my time to every 15 minutes.
- 22:44I schedule my time in big chunks
- 22:47because I am not one of those people
- 22:49who can schedule every five to 10 minutes.
- 22:52The inner teenager will just cancel everything.
- 22:58So if I feel restricted, if I feel overly controlled,
- 23:02I need the space to be spontaneous.
- 23:04I need to be able to follow what I'm feeling.
- 23:07If I'm in the zone, I want to be able to continue
- 23:09working on this project for the next three hours,
- 23:11even though I hadn't planned it.
- 23:12So I allow myself, I give myself chunks
- 23:15and I allow myself to decide
- 23:17what is happening in those chunks,
- 23:19depending on what it is, sometimes in the moment.
- 23:23So, I mean, if it's an appointment,
- 23:25obviously you've got to keep the appointment.
- 23:26But if I'm scheduling my own time,
- 23:28I'll be like, okay, I've got these chunks.
- 23:29I have to do this today.
- 23:30And it's more like check-in points than scheduled time.
- 23:38I have a priority list.
- 23:39I know what's on my priority list,
- 23:41but I also know what my energy levels are like
- 23:43and that kind of thing.
- 23:44So my schedule looks more like a template.
- 23:49My tracking is extremely detailed
- 23:53because if I tried to detail my schedule,
- 23:56it wouldn't work at all.
- 23:57And every personality is different.
- 23:59What were you asking about recurring tasks?
- 24:02I came back to it.
- 24:03I did, I remembered.
- 24:05I was gonna say, everybody, brava, brava, Danielle,
- 24:08because I know sometimes I'm,
- 24:10and here are 37 parts, go.
- 24:13All right, so getting back to,
- 24:15well, okay, for example, the reoccurring,
- 24:18I just like how, well, I'm just gonna show,
- 24:23well, I'll talk about it and show it.
- 24:25So this is today.
- 24:26And I had a call with my friend, Sinead,
- 24:28which we have every week, we schedule.
- 24:30And now this says Tif time, and it says see description.
- 24:34So let's click on that and see what it says.
- 24:37It says, Tif time is whatever Tif wants,
- 24:40but there are a few things that are listed, okay?
- 24:43It could be eating, reading, writing, singing,
- 24:48yoga, Qigong, drawing, connecting with someone,
- 24:53scheduling a call, nap time, creative endeavors,
- 24:57besides what I've just listed.
- 24:59I mean, I actually have like this whole,
- 25:01it's a beautiful litany of things.
- 25:03And thank you for the reminder that
- 25:05perhaps there are two camps, know thyself.
- 25:09Either I like to schedule things down to the minute,
- 25:13or I like to have a beautiful open time,
- 25:16and then we'll just see where things go.
- 25:18And I'm tracking, and I think that was
- 25:21what I might have been missing up until this point,
- 25:26which I'm looking forward to now adding, which is okay.
- 25:29I like the idea.
- 25:30I don't think that I'm tracking enough, and that's okay.
- 25:34But again, we're kind of just kind of workshopping this
- 25:36in real time, people, which is what I love,
- 25:38because it's important to have, yeah.
- 25:42You need to keep changing.
- 25:43I don't track as much.
- 25:45I don't check in as often as I used to,
- 25:47because I now automatically check in
- 25:50every time I finish a task or every time I get distracted.
- 25:52So I don't need to set the alarm for myself anymore,
- 25:54because it's become automatic.
- 25:56So there's, you know, your needs shift,
- 25:58depending on what you're doing and where you are
- 26:00and all that stuff.
- 26:02I do love that you wrote in your tip time
- 26:05all these things that you could be doing,
- 26:06but I know that you have boundaries around that too.
- 26:08I know doom scrolling is not allowed during tip time.
- 26:12No, no.
- 26:13So it's about these categorizations again,
- 26:16and I don't have huge chunks of time.
- 26:18I mean, unless I'm on holiday,
- 26:20I don't have huge chunks of time
- 26:21when I don't know what I'm doing.
- 26:22I tend to chunk in two or three hours,
- 26:27but they're themed.
- 26:29So Mike Vardy, he's the productivityist, he's amazing.
- 26:33He talks about theming time.
- 26:34You know, you can theme it horizontally
- 26:36or you can theme it vertically.
- 26:38You can have a day that is dedicated to something
- 26:40or you can have nine to 11 every day
- 26:42or a combination of the two.
- 26:45My schedule's all over the place.
- 26:46So I tend to kind of theme almost by month,
- 26:50more than by day or by week.
- 26:52Awesome.
- 26:53And everyone's in a different level of complexity
- 26:55and that's fine.
- 26:57But, you know, I have chunks that are like,
- 26:59this is self-care time and I can only do self-care things.
- 27:03This is do the difficult thing time
- 27:06because I know I'll have a lot of energy
- 27:09at this point of the day
- 27:10and I need to do the difficult thing.
- 27:12So I can only do difficult things during this time.
- 27:16And, you know, so you learn your rhythms too.
- 27:18I work better either very early in the morning,
- 27:22just after I've woken up,
- 27:24not very early in the morning, I wake up late,
- 27:25but, you know, first thing after I wake up
- 27:28or the last few hours before I go to bed.
- 27:31I don't concentrate very well in the middle of the day
- 27:33for myself.
- 27:35So I know that.
- 27:36So if I'm gonna do focus work,
- 27:37it's gonna be first thing or last thing.
- 27:39But some people, they need a bit of a run up
- 27:41and they only really get going
- 27:43about halfway through the day.
- 27:45So I don't know if that answered your question.
- 27:48Here's why it answered it and expanded.
- 27:54Because now in talking with you,
- 27:57I am thinking about my schedule
- 28:04in a way that still feels good.
- 28:07It's just those chunks of time,
- 28:10they served me during the summer,
- 28:12during this first season.
- 28:14And now in season two,
- 28:16I would like to spend a little more time tracking.
- 28:22I think at first it was just getting used to something.
- 28:25The biggest one I will say was the letting go
- 28:29of the time that I was spending so much time
- 28:33for other people, not with other people,
- 28:34but for other people.
- 28:36And guess what?
- 28:37That was on me.
- 28:39It wasn't like, you know, I was available
- 28:41and they knew it and good for them.
- 28:43And also now I'm not available and good for me.
- 28:47And that's kind of fun to say.
- 28:49And good for you, yes.
- 28:51I love it.
- 28:54It's fun to celebrate.
- 28:57And I love celebrating.
- 28:59I love celebrating with Danielle and celebration is fun.
- 29:02And celebrating that you are taking time for yourself.
- 29:06Because if I were to talk about the realm
- 29:09of being an entrepreneur, a solopreneur, being in business,
- 29:13it is so very, very easy for me.
- 29:17I'll just use myself as an example.
- 29:18It is so very easy to become exhausted with options
- 29:24or to become exhausted because I feel I don't have options.
- 29:29Oh my gosh, what are you gonna do?
- 29:30Well, just start with where am I right now?
- 29:34I'm here.
- 29:35Okay, what does my schedule say?
- 29:37And just look at it.
- 29:38Maybe Danielle, for the person who's like,
- 29:40okay, I'm gonna look at my schedule.
- 29:42Oh my God.
- 29:44I don't even wanna look at it
- 29:45because there's so much stuff going on.
- 29:49I feel-
- 29:50You're just playing while you're doing it.
- 29:52Yeah.
- 29:54There we go.
- 29:55That's about it.
- 29:56That is about it.
- 29:57What would be a,
- 29:58cause I also love to hear your tips for having a great day.
- 30:00And if they are connected to a schedule, fantastic.
- 30:05If somebody is just getting started,
- 30:06what would be the,
- 30:07just if there was just one thing that you could do
- 30:10to help reign your schedule in that it's for you
- 30:14and not for somebody else,
- 30:16do you have an idea for us?
- 30:19I have many ideas.
- 30:21Awesome.
- 30:22I think most people overschedule
- 30:25instead of underscheduling.
- 30:27So lead time for spontaneity.
- 30:30If you're feeling trapped,
- 30:32if you are feeling claustrophobic
- 30:34when you look at your schedule,
- 30:35you need more unstructured time.
- 30:38And you can have just one,
- 30:39make one day,
- 30:40Saturday's your unstructured day.
- 30:42It's wild card day.
- 30:43I have no idea what I'm gonna do on Saturday.
- 30:45Make it fun and let yourself have that spontaneous time
- 30:51or maybe every time after six o'clock is spontaneous time
- 30:55or whenever it can realistically fit
- 30:58in your realistic life.
- 31:01Don't let yourself get trapped.
- 31:03Have things to look forward to.
- 31:04Have something to look forward to every single day.
- 31:07Even if it's a small thing like a snack or a nap
- 31:11or I'm gonna watch an episode of my favorite thing
- 31:13when I go to gym today.
- 31:15Have little treats.
- 31:17Put little treats in your calendar for yourself
- 31:19every single day.
- 31:20They don't need to be huge.
- 31:22Little treats like I'm gonna see a favorite friend
- 31:25or I'm gonna spend some time in the garden
- 31:27or if there's a sunny day today I'm going to
- 31:30or this week I'm gonna sit outside with my laptop
- 31:34or things like that.
- 31:36The biggest change for me came kind of in a larger sense,
- 31:43not in the day-to-day sense,
- 31:44but I was really struggling and I still,
- 31:48I still wrestle with consistency.
- 31:51I'm getting better at it,
- 31:52but consistency is like my big, my life lesson, you know?
- 31:58And I was talking to a business coach.
- 32:02I don't remember who it was anymore.
- 32:03Otherwise, I don't remember who it was.
- 32:05Otherwise, I'd give him credit.
- 32:07It was just one of those like random,
- 32:08someone I didn't know very well, didn't work with.
- 32:10It was just one of those random conversations.
- 32:13And I said something about,
- 32:15I didn't realize I was so cyclical
- 32:16and especially with the seasons
- 32:18because I grew up in South Africa
- 32:20where we don't really have seasons so much.
- 32:22We've got a summer and a winter.
- 32:25One is wet and one is dry.
- 32:26That's, you know, in Durban where I grew up,
- 32:28that's pretty much it.
- 32:30Then I moved to Vancouver, Canada.
- 32:31I couldn't keep up.
- 32:33Seasons kept changing.
- 32:34And I would just get into my schedule
- 32:36and then the season would change.
- 32:37I'm like, no, my schedule doesn't work anymore
- 32:39because it's dark or it's light at the wrong time.
- 32:42And I was really, really struggling with this
- 32:44because I just wanted to build something consistent.
- 32:47And I was also noticing I get sad.
- 32:50So in the wintertime,
- 32:52my energy level is way lower than in the summertime.
- 32:57And she's like, why don't you,
- 32:59if you know that about yourself,
- 33:00why don't you just build your business around it?
- 33:03And my mind just went, what?
- 33:07I can do that.
- 33:07I'm allowed.
- 33:09I don't have to do everything all the time.
- 33:11So now, depending on where I am,
- 33:14what part of the world I'm in,
- 33:16but the winter months, the colder months are now for me.
- 33:21That's when I get to do overhaul systems.
- 33:24That's when I'm doing a lot of, you know,
- 33:26laptop and pajama work.
- 33:27I'm not doing a lot of calls.
- 33:29I'll do, you know, the delivery calls of my client calls,
- 33:33but I'm not doing a lot of promotion.
- 33:35I'm not doing a lot of networking,
- 33:36those kinds of things.
- 33:38I love them, but they take a lot out of me.
- 33:40So that's summer work.
- 33:41Spring and summer, I'm doing networking.
- 33:43I'm doing promotion.
- 33:44I'm out there and I'm being energized.
- 33:47But in the wintertime, when I want to just cuddle up,
- 33:50you know, with a hot beverage and sleep,
- 33:52two thirds of the day.
- 33:55That's my time for just, you know,
- 33:57I can sit on the couch and just do admin
- 34:02and catch up on my bookkeeping.
- 34:05And I schedule my life that way.
- 34:07And it helps a lot, yeah.
- 34:13That sounds marvelous.
- 34:15And I am so glad that you took us through that journey.
- 34:19That is so cool because what are we talking about?
- 34:23Curating your time.
- 34:25This is customization.
- 34:26This is not, well, whoever, whatever,
- 34:29I'm going to say guru of the month, flavor of the month says
- 34:32in order to have a successful business,
- 34:34you must do this, this, and this.
- 34:36Yes, there are some universals.
- 34:38However, I love that you brought up what I feel too often.
- 34:41People think I have to do it a certain way.
- 34:43If I don't do it a certain way,
- 34:44then I'm not doing it right.
- 34:45And if I'm not doing it right, it's not going to happen.
- 34:47And then it doesn't happen.
- 34:47And then I feel bad.
- 34:48Wait a minute.
- 34:51Yeah, I love what you're doing right there.
- 34:53They're putting us in their box.
- 34:53Like they're putting us.
- 34:54It's a square hole round thing.
- 34:59If not, why?
- 35:02And you said their box.
- 35:03And I love that.
- 35:04They're trying to put you in the box that worked for them.
- 35:07Perhaps there are elements
- 35:09that can also work for you.
- 35:10Marvelous.
- 35:11I really appreciate that before this call,
- 35:14I can't remember how you said it was like
- 35:16hyperboland or something like,
- 35:18oh, here's me.
- 35:19Like, you know, when you say it's always this way
- 35:22or she never talks to me about this
- 35:25or he always does this one thing.
- 35:28And now I just say to myself, really?
- 35:31Really?
- 35:31But then I kind of got caught, but I think it's funny.
- 35:34So thank you for, it's not about,
- 35:36it always has to be this way or could never be this way.
- 35:39We can leave hyperboland over in the distance
- 35:41and not make it a fixture.
- 35:44Hyperboland is because we get overwhelmed
- 35:46and we want to make things simple.
- 35:48But life is complex.
- 35:50Life is, the universe is chaotic and complex.
- 35:54And if we try to oversimplify things,
- 35:58it always ends up backfiring.
- 36:01And not that things can't be simple.
- 36:03They absolutely can.
- 36:05But when we try to oversimplify something that's complex,
- 36:08we typically hurt ourselves, I think.
- 36:11And I think hyperbolizing is one of those things
- 36:13where like, oh, I don't have the time to like,
- 36:16get real about this bit was good
- 36:18and this bit isn't good.
- 36:19Because then I have to get really conscious
- 36:22and really aware and I have to be very honest with myself.
- 36:28Because I'm getting granular about things.
- 36:30It's much easier to say, I'm wonderful or I'm terrible.
- 36:34And it's almost a form of narcissism in that, I feel.
- 36:38And I definitely, I'm saying that as someone who does it.
- 36:41I feel the narcissism in myself come out
- 36:45when I tend to hyperbolize.
- 36:47Especially if I'm like, oh, I was amazing.
- 36:48Or, oh, I'm so awful.
- 36:51That's when I'm moving into this not real,
- 36:57not honest, non-vulnerable state.
- 37:00And I'm not really in myself
- 37:03and I'm not being honest with myself.
- 37:05You know what I mean?
- 37:07I do.
- 37:08I love that we've brought up that being real with yourself.
- 37:12It's okay.
- 37:14And dare I say, we could even schedule time
- 37:17to have check-ins for just a moment.
- 37:21I love that you've shown me both parts.
- 37:25And I think sometimes I'm a hybrid, crazy hybrid.
- 37:28There are times I'll have the blocks of time.
- 37:30There are times I'm like, this is for this,
- 37:31this is for this, this is for this.
- 37:32Usually talking to people and what it's about.
- 37:35Right?
- 37:37And guess what?
- 37:38We are already here on this third rock from the sun.
- 37:41So let's just acknowledge
- 37:44that we're here in the 3D time realm experience.
- 37:49And it's got a few parameters
- 37:51that maybe aren't the funnest all the time.
- 37:54And speaking of maybe not the funnest all the time,
- 37:58I just want to touch for a moment.
- 38:01One of the reasons I feel it is so nice
- 38:03to have blocks of time for yourself
- 38:06is actually for both the great and the not so great
- 38:12and the really not so great.
- 38:13I can't remember how I said that in season one.
- 38:15I'm still workshopping it.
- 38:17But if you're having some great days,
- 38:19it really is nice to have a space
- 38:22to allow yourself some time to acknowledge that
- 38:25and celebrate it and have fun with it and be happy with it.
- 38:28We get to celebrate our successes.
- 38:31Success begets success.
- 38:33And I don't want to say failure begets failure.
- 38:35It's just failure can create some feedback
- 38:38that will help you towards your next success.
- 38:40So, but you're having a great day.
- 38:43Take a moment to just go,
- 38:44I really am having a great day.
- 38:46This is awesome.
- 38:46You get off a great call, yes.
- 38:49Or you see something pop up in an email.
- 38:52You're like, oh, this is awesome.
- 38:53And you see you're gonna meet someone today
- 38:55that you haven't seen in a while, yes.
- 38:57And then there are those not so great days.
- 38:58Okay, I gotta do some paperwork.
- 39:01Maybe I have to talk to someone
- 39:02that isn't exactly the most thrilling.
- 39:05But you are acknowledging that, hey, you know what?
- 39:07I've scheduled some time and it's gonna be okay.
- 39:10And there are those certain days
- 39:12where, yeah, everything's shattered.
- 39:16I'll just say it.
- 39:17Yeah, it's shattered.
- 39:19And this day, and to have time scheduled
- 39:23for the option to take extra care of yourself,
- 39:28I feel is key.
- 39:29And I didn't know if you had a thought on that, Danielle,
- 39:31just because I do think positive,
- 39:35but I don't wanna be toxic going,
- 39:36everything's great all the time.
- 39:37No, there are moments where I'm shutting down.
- 39:41I was thinking about this.
- 39:42I think of your thinking positive
- 39:44less about putting those sunglasses and everything
- 39:49and more about being dedicated to a positive outcome.
- 39:52When I talk to you, that's your positive thinking,
- 39:57is you're dedicated to a positive outcome.
- 39:59You're not trying to pretend that everything's okay.
- 40:01And yes, that's why I plan my life on Google Calendar,
- 40:05because if I need to cancel everything,
- 40:07I can just pick that block up and move it somewhere else.
- 40:13I cannot survive on a pen and paper calendar
- 40:17because I change things all the time.
- 40:20My plans shift day-to-day, hour-to-hour, week-to-week.
- 40:24They are not consistent at all.
- 40:26Still get to make sure everything gets done,
- 40:28but my priorities are always shifting.
- 40:31And life happens, life lies.
- 40:32So I have my task list of my priority list
- 40:36of things that need to get done.
- 40:37I have my chunks of time where I can get things done.
- 40:40And then some days, if I'm having the worst day of my life,
- 40:45which happens once every month or two,
- 40:49then by midday, I'm aware I'm having
- 40:52the worst day of my life.
- 40:53I'll go, you know what?
- 40:54I'm just gonna take the rest of the afternoon off.
- 40:56And I'm gonna mindfully reschedule.
- 40:58If I have calls, then I'll do my best to show up for those.
- 41:03Sometimes we have to reschedule them
- 41:05because I just have to for my mental health.
- 41:07But I do my best not to.
- 41:09And then I just take the rest of that.
- 41:11I'm like, okay.
- 41:11And then until I go to bed, that is vacation time.
- 41:16That is holiday time.
- 41:17That is self-destruct time if I need to.
- 41:19If I need to curl up and hate my life for a few hours,
- 41:26I'm allowed.
- 41:27And then I will go to bed.
- 41:29And then I will wake up the next morning
- 41:30and everything will have been intentionally rescheduled
- 41:33on my calendar and I can pick up and I can move on.
- 41:36But I really don't fill in the gaps of my calendar
- 41:41really until the morning of.
- 41:42Like I have a vague idea, I have a shape to my week
- 41:45and I have a task list.
- 41:47But I don't, I schedule my day-to-day
- 41:50because I try to do it the other way.
- 41:52It just really didn't work for me.
- 41:55But also, yeah, schedule yourself treats.
- 41:58If you know something difficult is coming up,
- 42:00schedule time not only to recover after,
- 42:02but schedule times to psych yourself up beforehand.
- 42:06Are you the type of person who needs to be distracted
- 42:08and needs to be really busy that morning
- 42:11so that you don't think about it?
- 42:13Or are you the type of person
- 42:14who isn't gonna get anything done
- 42:15and you need to keep that whole morning clear
- 42:18so that you can just focus on yourself
- 42:20and breathe and be intentional
- 42:22and do self-care until that time?
- 42:24Everybody's different.
- 42:25You need to know yourself.
- 42:26What do you need to deal with
- 42:29whatever that difficult thing is?
- 42:31And the most important thing,
- 42:32and I've done a video about this,
- 42:36remember that rest is an investment
- 42:39in your future productivity.
- 42:41It is not a reward.
- 42:43It is not something that comes after.
- 42:46It is something that you do first
- 42:48as an investment towards your future happiness,
- 42:52health, productivity, all of it.
- 42:54So that is also really important.
- 42:57And something I should listen to myself
- 42:59about more often too.
- 43:01We're all growing, we're all in process here.
- 43:03You know, we're all in process.
- 43:06I, oh my gosh, there's just so much.
- 43:07We could go on and on and on,
- 43:08but I do wanna have the recap of,
- 43:11maybe more of a reminder.
- 43:12Also, my celestial reminder that we are mostly water,
- 43:15and it's always good to have a sip of water once in a while.
- 43:17And if you have to set a timer to remind yourself,
- 43:19now this isn't about the eight glasses,
- 43:21you have to do eight glasses a day.
- 43:22I'm not talking about that.
- 43:23I'm just saying once in a while,
- 43:24I get so busy throughout the day
- 43:25and all of a sudden I'm,
- 43:26did I even drink water?
- 43:31Now I did.
- 43:32And now to get into something,
- 43:34if I were to have my,
- 43:36a reminder to all of us,
- 43:38that there are some tracks that track better
- 43:43for a certain group of people.
- 43:45If you're somebody that likes to have things very scheduled,
- 43:47then absolutely do that.
- 43:49What I love here is that we have options
- 43:51that if we feel like, oh, so flighty,
- 43:55and you know, I just wanna be,
- 43:56you know, with the winds,
- 43:57I'm not really sure.
- 44:00To a certain extent, yes.
- 44:01And also you get to a point where you got some priorities,
- 44:06and I really want that priority to be you and your time.
- 44:09Because what I feel,
- 44:11what I've heard from what Danielle has been saying today,
- 44:13and what I love,
- 44:15is we are talking about freedom.
- 44:18Because I used to think,
- 44:20schedule yourself in any realm.
- 44:22I'm not talking bit by bit.
- 44:23I'm talking just anything.
- 44:24It was like, oh, I don't know if I can do that.
- 44:27I'm an artist.
- 44:28I need to be free to be creative.
- 44:29Oh, yeah, do scrolling for two hours on Instagram.
- 44:31How'd that work out for you?
- 44:33No, it didn't.
- 44:33So the number one that I've gotten
- 44:36from our discussions, Danielle, thank you,
- 44:38that I am moving toward is,
- 44:40there is freedom in the structure of your day
- 44:44that works for you.
- 44:45Because guess what?
- 44:46I love to hear people talk about,
- 44:48oh, yes, you're gonna have time and financial freedom.
- 44:50And they paint this airy fairy picture in the future.
- 44:53And I'm just not there.
- 44:55I'm here today.
- 44:56So what I love is,
- 44:58it's about the day to day.
- 45:01That's, we're here now today.
- 45:03Absolutely.
- 45:03Yeah.
- 45:04So let's schedule today and just go from there.
- 45:07See how it works.
- 45:09And that's really,
- 45:12oh, go ahead.
- 45:13I was just like, that's really all you can do,
- 45:14but that's everything, really,
- 45:16is just being in the present moment today.
- 45:18Mm-hmm.
- 45:19And how much of that person that you wanna be
- 45:22and that life that you wanna build,
- 45:24can you build incrementally today?
- 45:27Because a lot of us live in the future
- 45:29and we almost push it off.
- 45:31We put it off to the future.
- 45:33I'll be happy when.
- 45:35I'll take walks on the beach every morning when.
- 45:39You could take a walk on the beach today.
- 45:42You don't have to wait until you're rich
- 45:45and famous and successful.
- 45:47The beach exists.
- 45:48Okay, maybe you don't live close enough.
- 45:50Maybe you need to do it just on the weekends for now.
- 45:52But finding ways to bring that life that you wanna build,
- 45:56bring it into now because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
- 46:02No.
- 46:06So how can you live the life you want today?
- 46:11And it's not gonna be 100%.
- 46:13That's okay.
- 46:13How can you bring little bits in?
- 46:15Little bits.
- 46:17I'd love that.
- 46:18And the number one word,
- 46:19the number one takeaway for me today is the word treats.
- 46:24Of course it is.
- 46:26What can I say?
- 46:27Well, I love treats.
- 46:30That was number one.
- 46:31So scheduled treats and I think that's fun.
- 46:34I had a birthday this month and I admit I went to one of,
- 46:37there's a bakery that makes this very special cake
- 46:40with a very special frosting.
- 46:42And it was so yummy.
- 46:44You know what?
- 46:44This is my birthday.
- 46:45That was fun.
- 46:45That was a treat.
- 46:46What my second takeaway,
- 46:48which I feel is also very important is
- 46:51when you talked about rest is not a reward.
- 46:56So you're telling me that a person,
- 46:59I would just say a woman in business
- 47:01should not be wearing herself out with,
- 47:05well, if you have kids, if you have a husband,
- 47:07okay, what if you have a significant other and a dog?
- 47:10What if you have a cat?
- 47:12What if you have a goldfish?
- 47:14What if you don't?
- 47:15It's okay.
- 47:16What if you are working in a team
- 47:18or if you're working by yourself?
- 47:19But what I'm hoping that you're saying is
- 47:22perhaps I should not schedule myself into exhaustion
- 47:26and let the exhaustion allow me to have the reward of rest.
- 47:32Because-
- 47:32It's so toxic.
- 47:34Thank you.
- 47:35We all do it.
- 47:35I'm so glad.
- 47:37I'm so guilty of it, but it's so bad for you.
- 47:41It is.
- 47:42Yeah.
- 47:43And I am so glad that I am here to take a stand
- 47:46for our greatness and say,
- 47:49ladies and gentlemen,
- 47:51whether you are in business or not,
- 47:53you get to control your time.
- 47:55Cause I love talking about choice.
- 47:56Oh, I love choices.
- 47:59Big nightmare is not having choice.
- 48:01So sometimes it feels like you don't have choice.
- 48:04What, oh, what did you say?
- 48:06Choices are almost as good as treats.
- 48:08You know they are almost, almost, Teehee.
- 48:12What I love is, guess what?
- 48:14We get to make choices.
- 48:15And I love that you talked about incrementally
- 48:20because it just needs the dramatic pause
- 48:24and the one hyperboland.
- 48:26We are never guaranteed tomorrow.
- 48:29But each day we wake up is that opportunity
- 48:32to have a great day and to make a choice.
- 48:35And part of that, I truly feel,
- 48:37includes scheduling time how you need it for you
- 48:43in whatever way you see a flow and an ease that works.
- 48:49And thank you once more for the reminder of life changes.
- 48:53It's already changed from the beginning of summer
- 48:56now into fall, as far as how I'm looking at my time
- 48:59and the amount of time and the type of time
- 49:01that I get to spend with Danielle.
- 49:03And you know what, that's okay
- 49:03because she did prepare me that, you know what,
- 49:06things change.
- 49:08I used to not like change.
- 49:10I'm trying to like it more.
- 49:12And I don't mean trying it's a do or do not,
- 49:13but guess what, everybody?
- 49:14You do have a choice.
- 49:16Just this moment, I really appreciate
- 49:17that you took the time to spend time with us
- 49:21to talk about time and scheduling.
- 49:24Danielle, was there anything else that you wanted to add
- 49:28about, because we could go on.
- 49:30We could go on forever.
- 49:31It is time.
- 49:33It is time to call time, I do think.
- 49:38I did way too many corny quotes
- 49:41that I want to fit in here,
- 49:42but I do want to say just a silly, a silly little tidbit.
- 49:48Time waits for no man.
- 49:51And if you want to check out that ex-KCD comic
- 49:54about no man, it's pretty hilarious.
- 49:57I will put the link in the show notes
- 50:00because it's very funny.
- 50:02Oh my gosh, thank you.
- 50:04Okay, thank you for the fun.
- 50:06And thank you for dropping those links.
- 50:08I love a good name drop for sure.
- 50:13And I would like to celebrate.
- 50:18This was a treat for me this week
- 50:19because it was on my calendar
- 50:20and I was so looking forward to it.
- 50:22And it's been marvelous.
- 50:24And there are so many other things
- 50:25we're going to be talking about throughout this season.
- 50:28And I really appreciate everybody listening.
- 50:30So one more time, you have your day to schedule your way.
- 50:35And if you like it very structured, fantastic.
- 50:38If you like to have lots of open spaces, fantastic.
- 50:42The number one thing I want you to remember
- 50:44is that I have to use the word deserve.
- 50:46You deserve to have the time for yourself,
- 50:50to have a great day.
- 50:51Give yourself space to have a great day.
- 50:53However you need to schedule that in your calendar.
- 50:56There you go.
- 50:57And timers are awesome.
- 50:59Yes.
- 50:59And Danielle, I thank you for this.
- 51:03And we will, oh, and I'm very excited.
- 51:07We actually scheduled time after this call
- 51:09to plan many a fabulous thing.
- 51:11So ladies and gentlemen, that's why we must go for it today.
- 51:14So I must give it up for Danielle Benzon.
- 51:16Thank you very much of Inspired Speakers Academy.
- 51:17And now the Inspired Speakers Podcast Network.
- 51:22Woo!
- 51:23I want to talk more about that too.
- 51:25This was awesome.
- 51:26I loved it.
- 51:27Had the time of my life.
- 51:29Yes.
