- 0:04Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief, your

- 0:11ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Wednesday,
- 0:16June 24th, 2026. Let's get you caught up. A woman
- 0:19is in custody after a high -speed chase involving
- 0:21a stolen vehicle entered in Yolo County yesterday
- 0:24evening. According to California Highway Patrol,
- 0:28The incident began shortly after 5 .30 p .m.
- 0:31when authorities received reports of a stolen
- 0:332025 Honda Accord in Rio Linda. The vehicle was
- 0:37initially pursued by the Citrus Heights Police
- 0:39before that chase was terminated. The Sacramento
- 0:42County Sheriff's Office later located the vehicle
- 0:44and initiated a second pursuit. Deputies say
- 0:47the driver maintained speeds near 100 mph for
- 0:51much of the chase and at one point reached approximately
- 0:53150 mph. The pursuit traveled along Interstate
- 0:5780 and northbound Interstate 505 before ending
- 1:01in the community of Madison in Yolo County, where
- 1:04deputies successfully used the pit maneuver to
- 1:07stop the vehicle. The female driver was arrested.
- 1:11Additional charges have not yet been released.
- 1:14In another incident on Tuesday, a woman was taken
- 1:17into custody following a foot pursuit in Sacramento's
- 1:20Greenhaven Pocket area. The pursuit reportedly
- 1:23began near Riverside Boulevard and Florin Road
- 1:26before moving into a residential neighborhood.
- 1:28Witnesses reported the suspect jumped several
- 1:31fences before entering Lake Greenhaven and swimming
- 1:34across the water. She was initially taken into
- 1:37custody near Shoal Court. Authorities have not
- 1:40yet released information regarding the possible
- 1:42charges. As Sacramento families head outdoors
- 1:47this summer, Sacramento County officials are
- 1:50reminding parents and caregivers that water safety
- 1:53should remain top priority. County leaders say
- 1:56drowning remains one of the leading causes of
- 1:59injury -related deaths among children. But many
- 2:05incidents can be prevented through proper supervision
- 2:08and preparation. Officials recommend assigning
- 2:11a dedicated water watcher whenever children are
- 2:15swimming, ensuring pools are properly secured,
- 2:18and enrolling children in age -appropriate swim
- 2:22lessons whenever possible. Parents are also reminded
- 2:26that Sacramento County requires children under
- 2:2913 to wear approved life jackets when boating
- 2:31or entering local lakes or rivers. County officials
- 2:35note that water hazards aren't just limited to
- 2:38pools and waterways. Even bathtubs, buckets,
- 2:41and other containers with standing water can
- 2:43pose serious risk for young children. Regional
- 2:48park officials are also encouraging visitors
- 2:50to exercise caution around local rivers where
- 2:54strong currents, cold water, and hidden hazards
- 2:58can quickly create dangerous conditions. You're
