- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the best of Stu Gotson Company Live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio. This might be the first time in
- 0:25Speaker 2: the history of Fox Sports Radio that bucking fits has
- 0:31Speaker 2: been ever called an upgrade and professionalism. Because we're filling
- 0:34Speaker 2: it for Studiott's close friend, I can say that I
- 0:36Speaker 2: love the man we are sitting in.
- 0:38Speaker 3: He's Buck Rising. I'm Jason Fitz. We don't say Happy
- 0:42Speaker 3: Memorial Day. I get corrected on this every time I've
- 0:44Speaker 3: filled in on morning or on radio. So we'll just
- 0:47Speaker 3: say I hope everybody is having a safe Memorial Day
- 0:49Speaker 3: and taking this opportunity to celebrate the holiday however they
- 0:53Speaker 3: see fit to celebrate Memorial Day. It's just it's in
- 0:57Speaker 3: my nature to say happy Memorial happy whatever. This is
- 1:00Speaker 3: not supposed to be a happy holiday. Twitter reminds me
- 1:04Speaker 3: of that every single time I do radio on Memorial Day.
- 1:06Speaker 3: So I will just say I hope everybody is having
- 1:09Speaker 3: a safe holiday and they are enjoying it with their
- 1:12Speaker 3: family celebrating it the best way they see.
- 1:15Speaker 4: I can't get in trouble for that kind.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I buck like I think I've covered it politically enough
- 1:18Speaker 3: at this point that I can't get in trouble.
- 1:20Speaker 5: No, you can get in trouble with me, because it's
- 1:22Speaker 5: just a weird thing for you to fixate on, like
- 1:24Speaker 5: you have these fairy No. I don't think I just
- 1:27Speaker 5: get right.
- 1:27Speaker 4: I's corrected every year on Memorial.
- 1:29Speaker 5: You are someone who fixates on things. Ian is here today.
- 1:34Speaker 5: He can support me on this. We've heard the kind
- 1:37Speaker 5: of tangents that you get on. It's okay. We've sought
- 1:41Speaker 5: help for you in a number of different ways. I
- 1:44Speaker 5: don't know what the cure is, but it's a weird
- 1:46Speaker 5: thing for you to fixate on. To start fix on
- 1:48Speaker 5: the first two minutes of the show.
- 1:50Speaker 3: No, I just I started to say Happy Memorial Day,
- 1:53Speaker 3: and frankly, ESPN sends on an annual memo that says
- 1:56Speaker 3: you're not supposed to say that. So it started to
- 1:58Speaker 3: come out of my mouth and years of here you're
- 2:00Speaker 3: not allowed to say that. Then maybe say, oh my god,
- 2:02Speaker 3: I'm not supposed to say that. We went off the
- 2:04Speaker 3: rails before we even got two minutes in. I'm not fixating.
- 2:06Speaker 3: I'm just trying to.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Run the offense the right way. That's all.
- 2:08Speaker 5: That's all. But you have this very and I don't
- 2:12Speaker 5: know that. I don't know that it's necessarily a bad quality,
- 2:17Speaker 5: but you have this tendency. I mean, I would tell
- 2:20Speaker 5: you if I thought it was truly a bad quality.
- 2:23Speaker 5: I have no problem telling pretty such your other bad qualities.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Now that is fine.
- 2:26Speaker 5: But for me, it's your very unique way of walking
- 2:32Speaker 5: every single person that is within the sound of your
- 2:36Speaker 5: voice through your thought process. When a lot of this
- 2:40Speaker 5: can be done internally, you, my friend, are the definition
- 2:44Speaker 5: of this could have been an email every time you
- 2:47Speaker 5: describe to me your process now, I will say, I'm
- 2:50Speaker 5: very grateful for your process because it makes for I think,
- 2:54Speaker 5: better hosting abilities. It's a quality that I'm not sure
- 2:59Speaker 5: that I'm yell us of necessarily, but I would like
- 3:03Speaker 5: a little more of that focus and that attention to detail.
- 3:06Speaker 5: I'm just saying you have a tick, and it's okay,
- 3:08Speaker 5: we still love you.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I like to get ahead of stupid, and so whatever
- 3:13Speaker 3: I can do to get ahead of stupid, I try
- 3:15Speaker 3: to do.
- 3:15Speaker 4: And I have found in my.
- 3:16Speaker 5: Life for you, by the way, in this in this
- 3:19Speaker 5: particular situation, I feel like we just veer right and
- 3:23Speaker 5: into stupid, out of stupid, into stupid all the time.
- 3:25Speaker 4: That's what I love about that show.
- 3:27Speaker 3: That's why I I do radio because I love doing
- 3:30Speaker 3: radio with you. That's that's why I do this. I
- 3:33Speaker 3: say this, that's true. That's a rare See the audience
- 3:36Speaker 3: that's just listening.
- 3:37Speaker 4: To us for the first time.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I have bad tone. It's okay, I have bad tone.
- 3:41Speaker 5: I just I blushed a little. People don't know.
- 3:43Speaker 4: That that's fair.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Here's the thing for me, I long ago figured out
- 3:48Speaker 3: that what really drives me crazy in my life for
- 3:51Speaker 3: follow up questions that I don't deem necessary. And I
- 3:54Speaker 3: know that this is you want to talk about the tick.
- 3:57Speaker 3: For me, it's that I live by the adders if
- 4:00Speaker 3: there's no further questions, so to me, in my mind,
- 4:03Speaker 3: it's just a I said it. I don't really want
- 4:05Speaker 3: to follow up question. But I feel like everybody has
- 4:07Speaker 3: fifty two follow up questions. So part of the reason
- 4:09Speaker 3: I explained my process is I feel like if I
- 4:12Speaker 3: explain the entirety of my process, maybe I can avoid
- 4:15Speaker 3: the stupid follow up question.
- 4:16Speaker 4: I didn't want to answer the first place.
- 4:18Speaker 3: I gave up on just saying I want pizza tonight
- 4:20Speaker 3: in my life because I feel like every time I
- 4:22Speaker 3: say I want pizza tonight, somebody is like, well what
- 4:25Speaker 3: about this? So now I'm just the type of person
- 4:27Speaker 3: that turns around and says, okay, I have Mexican food yesterday.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I'm tracking this. I don't want to eat this. I
- 4:31Speaker 3: don't like this. I don't like this, and I don't
- 4:33Speaker 3: like this. So as a result, there's this pizza place
- 4:35Speaker 3: down the road that I really liked that I've wanted
- 4:36Speaker 3: to try. I want pizza tonight. Now I've eliminated follow
- 4:39Speaker 3: up questions. The problem with you is that then I
- 4:42Speaker 3: give you all of this detail and then you turn
- 4:44Speaker 3: it around like, well, I don't like pizza, and now
- 4:46Speaker 3: I feel fomax.
- 4:47Speaker 4: I don't know what to do.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Like I walk you through my process, and you look
- 4:51Speaker 3: at my process, you look at my math, you look
- 4:53Speaker 3: at the way I got there, and you simply don't
- 4:55Speaker 3: accept it.
- 4:56Speaker 4: This is my reality.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean some of the things you do stupid,
- 5:00Speaker 5: even if you can explain them like that's that's not
- 5:02Speaker 5: my fault.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Looks this is you're in for four hours, not not
- 5:07Speaker 3: two hours, you were in for four hours. A buck
- 5:09Speaker 3: rising telling me I'm stupid every time we disagree, because well.
- 5:13Speaker 5: You know what's stupid those stupid is not having stut
- 5:15Speaker 5: Gotz here to talk about the next I understand it's
- 5:17Speaker 5: a holiday, uh, But like as somebody who has listened
- 5:21Speaker 5: to him and Levatard for I don't know my entire
- 5:24Speaker 5: adult life, it feels like I find myself I don't
- 5:28Speaker 5: find myself happy for New York very often. I mean,
- 5:31Speaker 5: and I don't. I'm not down on New York by
- 5:34Speaker 5: any stretch of the imagination. I just think they kind
- 5:36Speaker 5: of exist. It's as sports fans, and some of them
- 5:39Speaker 5: are tortured enough, especially with their football teams. And I
- 5:42Speaker 5: don't feel like I need to twist the knife, but
- 5:44Speaker 5: I you know, I don't necessarily look at the Knicks
- 5:46Speaker 5: and think America's team, even though they are delightful and
- 5:50Speaker 5: I very much enjoy them, and i'd love to see
- 5:52Speaker 5: them in the finals, and i'd certainly not like to
- 5:53Speaker 5: see Cleveland there unless they get their act together. We're
- 5:56Speaker 5: going to talk about Nny Actinson at some point. But
- 5:58Speaker 5: what's dumb is the fact that Stu Gotts is not
- 6:01Speaker 5: here at every opportunity to celebrate his Knicks, because it
- 6:05Speaker 5: feels like a party that's just waiting to happen. Should
- 6:10Speaker 5: they go on to sweep the Calves the way that
- 6:13Speaker 5: we all very much expect them to do. And I
- 6:16Speaker 5: don't know, I don't know what the temperature is like
- 6:19Speaker 5: in New York, because every time they win a game,
- 6:21Speaker 5: regardless of what round it is, it turns into the
- 6:24Speaker 5: biggest party you've ever seen in the streets of New York.
- 6:26Speaker 5: It is enough to give anybody you know, joy or
- 6:31Speaker 5: appreciation of how like the best part of being a
- 6:36Speaker 5: sports fan. But yeah, I can't I can't find a
- 6:41Speaker 5: reason to say that they shouldn't just walk through this
- 6:45Speaker 5: final game against Cleveland, even if I think they're not
- 6:47Speaker 5: gonna win it in the end, because I think both
- 6:49Speaker 5: of those teams are better than they are.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Well, that's why it's stupid for Stu Gotts not to
- 6:53Speaker 3: be on the radio today, because frankly, when the Knicks
- 6:57Speaker 3: finish the Calves, and I think we're all sitting like
- 7:00Speaker 3: Mortal Kombat, just could me finish them? Like we don't
- 7:03Speaker 3: need any more of this pludgeting, Like just just do it.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Do all of America favor although the NBA would like
- 7:08Speaker 3: more revenue, so maybe they want a couple extra games
- 7:10Speaker 3: out of this.
- 7:10Speaker 6: But look, the world just knows what's gonna happen.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Eliminate the calves so that we can stop talking about
- 7:15Speaker 3: the calves, number one, but number two, You're a thousand
- 7:18Speaker 3: percent right, Stuc gott should be on because this is
- 7:20Speaker 3: going to be the end of the celebration. Like they'll
- 7:22Speaker 3: win something in the finals, but like they're not going
- 7:25Speaker 3: to win the Larria. Like and I'm saying that really
- 7:29Speaker 3: definitively knowing you can clip it off, you can play
- 7:31Speaker 3: it for Stu Gotts. You can tell them to call
- 7:32Speaker 3: me like this is congratulations, you made it to the
- 7:36Speaker 3: NBA finals. What I think is hysterical, when I think
- 7:38Speaker 3: is almost laughable about that, is that, you know, the
- 7:41Speaker 3: the Stu Gotts of the world that has the asterisk
- 7:44Speaker 3: on as we heard coming in Kad doesn't have a
- 7:47Speaker 3: ring in his opinion.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Stu Gotts.
- 7:48Speaker 3: That's been tough on so many different NBA players for
- 7:52Speaker 3: only winning one championship, and teams that have wasted the
- 7:55Speaker 3: fact that they've only got one is going to try
- 7:58Speaker 3: and tell.
- 7:58Speaker 6: Me that simply making it to the NBA.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Finals is significant because it's the next It isn't like
- 8:04Speaker 3: they're gonna get their asses kicked by whoever makes.
- 8:07Speaker 4: It from the West.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I feel really confident about that the West is giving
- 8:10Speaker 3: us our true NBA Finals right now, and all of
- 8:13Speaker 3: this rejoicing from the city of New York is going
- 8:15Speaker 3: to turn into an absolute river of tears as they
- 8:18Speaker 3: watch their team lose in the finals and finish in second.
- 8:22Speaker 3: It's been a fun run. But the very same fans
- 8:25Speaker 3: that will sit there and say you can't give certain
- 8:27Speaker 3: players credit because they don't have enough championships are gonna
- 8:30Speaker 3: have to justify a way. A run that ends in
- 8:33Speaker 3: second place was absolutely remarkable because we didn't expect it
- 8:36Speaker 3: from the Knicks.
- 8:37Speaker 5: I at some point, we've been doing this together for
- 8:40Speaker 5: I don't know, I mean it's been more than a year.
- 8:43Speaker 5: I think at this point in time, I'm not I'm
- 8:45Speaker 5: not quite over the idea of you just being this
- 8:48Speaker 5: thief of joy, thief of sports joy. Yeah, at every turn,
- 8:51Speaker 5: I know you're a Warrior fan. We've had this conversation
- 8:55Speaker 5: just correct such a such a bizarre individual, a Jets
- 8:59Speaker 5: fan and Warriors fan. You have a reasonable explanation, but well, I.
- 9:02Speaker 7: Feel like this is like the ultimate indicator that I'm
- 9:05Speaker 7: not a bandwagon though, because I've had to deal with
- 9:07Speaker 7: the Warriors bandwagon accusations forever and now the Knicks are
- 9:10Speaker 7: in the Conference finals and I'm standing strong.
- 9:12Speaker 5: You know what?
- 9:13Speaker 3: Wait wait, wait, so, so Ian, how old are you
- 9:16Speaker 3: at this point twenty six, twenty six? What's the worst
- 9:20Speaker 3: Warriors season you've ever seen?
- 9:23Speaker 7: It's probably the early years of when I was a fan,
- 9:25Speaker 7: the Monte Ellis years.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Okay, And you were how old at that point? Eleven
- 9:30Speaker 4: twelve okay?
- 9:32Speaker 3: So to be clear, fifteen years of total dominance through
- 9:36Speaker 3: the majority of your adolescence and to your young adult life.
- 9:40Speaker 3: And the reason you're not a bandwagon fan is because
- 9:43Speaker 3: you're not hopping on the Knicks bandwagon the first time.
- 9:47Speaker 4: The Knicks are actually better than the worst.
- 9:49Speaker 7: I just want to Jean, let's remember that part of
- 9:51Speaker 7: this whole equation.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I'm just making sure that we're getting your Warriors take
- 9:55Speaker 3: exactly right here, because to me, it seems like there
- 9:58Speaker 3: were a little bit of leap to say that you
- 10:01Speaker 3: don't deserve any bandwagon convo because you're not jumping on
- 10:05Speaker 3: with the Knicks right now.
- 10:07Speaker 8: If I've learned anything about coming out to California as
- 10:09Speaker 8: he died in the world Detroit, everything, guy, is that
- 10:12Speaker 8: football allegiances out here tend to be a little more
- 10:17Speaker 8: what's the word I'm looking for, fluid compared to everything else.
- 10:20Speaker 8: So like you will see, like, yeah, it's like Jet's
- 10:23Speaker 8: paired up with Warriors, does not does not surprise me
- 10:26Speaker 8: when I've run into so many like Vikings and Lakers
- 10:29Speaker 8: fans or something like that.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Yeah, but Ian has a good explanation for it. It's just,
- 10:35Speaker 5: you know, Kenny Atkinson has a good explanation for why
- 10:37Speaker 5: the Calves are down for nothing.
- 10:40Speaker 3: It's just Kenny Atkinson has taken.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Why you are what you are. I love you, buddy,
- 10:47Speaker 5: but you just walked yourself right into that. I could
- 10:49Speaker 5: see him setting you up. It was very cruel what
- 10:50Speaker 5: he did. Just remember that. I think the next time
- 10:54Speaker 5: that he gallivants off to do an IFL championship game
- 10:58Speaker 5: from a closet in New York, is that where you
- 10:59Speaker 5: all so broadcast the game? Listen how much chestier he sounds.
- 11:04Speaker 5: He's he's coming into Stugatts's uh audio and Digital home
- 11:10Speaker 5: and he's uh Rick James and Charlie Murphy.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Uh.
- 11:14Speaker 5: In the situation, he's just he's kicking mud all over
- 11:18Speaker 5: the couch, he's breaking things, he's being very, very unruling.
- 11:22Speaker 5: It's all because he's no longer broadcasting into a potato
- 11:26Speaker 5: the way that he was yesterday or when the saturdays
- 11:30Speaker 5: ago that we were doing the show.
- 11:31Speaker 9: Uh.
- 11:31Speaker 5: These all these all tend to blend together, except you
- 11:34Speaker 5: know when he's actually sounds like he's got quality audio.
- 11:37Speaker 5: So now he feels confident enough when a man and
- 11:40Speaker 5: a group of people have welcomed us into their home
- 11:43Speaker 5: for a day while they take vacation. I'll be it.
- 11:46Speaker 5: But still, let's see you're you'd be a terrible house guest.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Uh Ian Can we can we have an honest moment.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Let's just pretend Bucks not in the room. I feel
- 11:54Speaker 3: like ever since Buck started working with Bridget, when I'm
- 11:56Speaker 3: out on our show, I feel.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Like Buck's got a little leedgi here.
- 11:59Speaker 3: I think Buck is taken in a little of that
- 12:00Speaker 3: bridge of beating and he's bringing it over to the
- 12:02Speaker 3: show when I'm here because he's he's like a kid,
- 12:05Speaker 3: where like the disciplinarian's not home and so all of
- 12:08Speaker 3: a sudden he feels like he can act out.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Can we agree on this? He is, Yeah, I agree.
- 12:11Speaker 7: He's like a grizzled veteran coming out of the Bridget
- 12:13Speaker 7: shows for sure.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Yeah, he comes out of those and he's like, I've
- 12:16Speaker 4: seen things. I have seen some things that you know.
- 12:19Speaker 5: But I forget one how much smarter Bridget is than
- 12:22Speaker 5: me on a regular basis. So when I throw barbs
- 12:25Speaker 5: at her, it's not quite I don't know.
- 12:27Speaker 7: I guess she was like a like a very well
- 12:29Speaker 7: thought out response that gets to buck.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Yeah, except when she's talking to me about the calves
- 12:35Speaker 5: and the pistons, because she tried to She tried to
- 12:37Speaker 5: bury me on that, and she could not have looked
- 12:39Speaker 5: worse for the way that that series ended up playing out.
- 12:42Speaker 5: Horrible take by Bridget. Anyway, My point is I feel
- 12:47Speaker 5: like it's a lot easier to bully somebody on the
- 12:50Speaker 5: air or be combative on the air the way that
- 12:53Speaker 5: I very much like to when I don't have to
- 12:55Speaker 5: drive the show, when I have to be the professional broadcaster.
- 12:58Speaker 5: This is why I'm grateful for you, so really, so
- 13:00Speaker 5: I don't have to work as hard and I can
- 13:03Speaker 5: just sit back and shut you down at every turn.
- 13:05Speaker 5: And I really don't have to make that coherent of
- 13:07Speaker 5: an argument. I just have to be super dismissive. It's
- 13:10Speaker 5: my secret sauce.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I feel like the Memorial Day equivalent of this is
- 13:14Speaker 3: Buck has shown up. He has told me that I
- 13:17Speaker 3: have not properly lit my grill. He has told me
- 13:21Speaker 3: every turn that my hamburger is overdone. And then he's
- 13:24Speaker 3: told me every turn of the way that I should
- 13:26Speaker 3: have used a different blend of beef, and then every
- 13:28Speaker 3: process of the way, I didn't use the right cheese.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I don't have the right condiments. He does not enjoy
- 13:33Speaker 3: my potato salad. Now he has completed his meal and
- 13:36Speaker 3: he comes up and he says, hey, man, thanks for
- 13:37Speaker 3: hanging out with me.
- 13:38Speaker 6: That's a compliment I just got for Buck Rising.

- 14:13Speaker 3: into the finals. But after what we saw last night
- 14:15Speaker 3: in the Western Conference Finals, who will they be taking on?
- 14:18Speaker 4: We will figure that out. Next. He's Buck Rising.

- 14:46Speaker 4: Fox Sports Radio.
- 14:48Speaker 10: Asked me to do a promo, but I'm here to
- 14:50Speaker 10: do a no Mo as in, don't listen to this show.
- 14:53Speaker 10: No Mo the host of two fools from Philly who
- 14:57Speaker 10: have the dumbest takes ever in all of talk. And
- 15:00Speaker 10: you know if I'm saying that they must really be bad.
- 15:04Speaker 10: I have no idea why Fox Sports Radio picked this up,
- 15:07Speaker 10: but I know where to put it down in the
- 15:10Speaker 10: trash can. So please don't listen to the Paulie and
- 15:14Speaker 10: Tony Fusco show.
- 15:16Speaker 4: No way, no how. I'll be honest, I think fireworks
- 15:21Speaker 4: kind of overrated.
- 15:22Speaker 6: Like, I'll be honest, Like it's really the sweaty crowds.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Like there's just a lot of bunch sweat throughout the
- 15:27Speaker 3: course of this like especially down in the South where
- 15:29Speaker 3: everybody's it's just hot and humid and like in fact
- 15:33Speaker 3: and just yeah, there's a lot of that.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Are you are you a pro? Tell you fireworks? Kind of?
- 15:37Speaker 5: I hate fireworks. I think they're a giant pain in
- 15:39Speaker 5: the ass. I think that there is not a more
- 15:41Speaker 5: overrated way of celebrating in this world than the shooting
- 15:46Speaker 5: off of fireworks. Bro it takes me two hours to
- 15:50Speaker 5: get in a situation for me to properly see the fireworks.
- 15:53Speaker 5: It is such a pain in the ass for like
- 15:55Speaker 5: seven minutes of actual payoff.
- 16:02Speaker 6: He's Buck Rising.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I'm Jason fitz Bucket Fits taken over on Fox Sports
- 16:05Speaker 3: Radio today.
- 16:08Speaker 6: Buck always gonna tell you what's overrated?
- 16:09Speaker 4: Buck? How we feel about the enhanced Games.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I don't know if anybody saw this, but over the
- 16:14Speaker 3: course of the weekend we were getting the Enhanced Games
- 16:17Speaker 3: in Vegas, where they basically say, you can do whatever
- 16:19Speaker 3: you want. You can pump whatever you want into your body.
- 16:22Speaker 3: We're gonna let as long as it's legal, you can
- 16:25Speaker 3: inject it, you can put it on whatever you want.
- 16:28Speaker 3: As long as it's legal, it can go into your body.
- 16:31Speaker 3: But interestingly, some of the speeds have been slower than expected,
- 16:35Speaker 3: some of the weights have been lighter than expected. In fact,
- 16:38Speaker 3: the one player that entered the Enhanced Games non enhanced
- 16:43Speaker 3: won the fifty meters breastroke in male swimming, So it
- 16:47Speaker 3: is interesting that the enhanced games haven't given us enhanced results.
- 16:51Speaker 5: How we feel about it, Yeah, I was curious about
- 16:56Speaker 5: this because as entertainment in theory, I'm like, yeah, okay,
- 17:02Speaker 5: I'll watch, I'll screw around and see how this goes.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Because I mean, we've all made the jokes. I'm sure,
- 17:08Speaker 5: I don't know, maybe not all of us, but I
- 17:11Speaker 5: feel like enough of us have made jokes about Yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 5: how much more fun would baseball be if they just
- 17:16Speaker 5: let them do steroids, and everybody was hitting homers. They're
- 17:18Speaker 5: already hitting homers all the time on a regular basis.
- 17:21Speaker 5: Like it's one of these science experiment, literal science experiment
- 17:25Speaker 5: type of deals where you're gonna be intrigued the first
- 17:29Speaker 5: time around, and then when you're super soldier athlete types
- 17:37Speaker 5: just kind of fizzle out the way that they did.
- 17:40Speaker 5: I know there was a swimmer that broke a record,
- 17:43Speaker 5: but beyond that, there was not a lot that seemed
- 17:47Speaker 5: to actually come out of as far as athletic feats
- 17:51Speaker 5: and accomplishment goes the enhanced games. I don't want to say, well,
- 17:57Speaker 5: you didn't you know, they didn't juice hard enough or whatever. Right,
- 18:01Speaker 5: this is like a weird, a weird thing to talk
- 18:04Speaker 5: about it, because I don't know if I'm morally okay
- 18:06Speaker 5: with it. I'm I am. I wonder how much of
- 18:11Speaker 5: an audience it got and how sustainable the interest in
- 18:16Speaker 5: it is. If the first time that you try it
- 18:19Speaker 5: it's not spectacular, you're going to come back and say, well, no,
- 18:22Speaker 5: next time will be different. They'll be even bigger and
- 18:25Speaker 5: faster and stronger and whatever. Because you're you're already riding
- 18:29Speaker 5: a fine line here and On top of that, athletes
- 18:33Speaker 5: who are still competing at the highest level, they're not
- 18:37Speaker 5: going to want to participate in this. You're going to
- 18:40Speaker 5: have a lot of different leagues and conferences and all
- 18:43Speaker 5: manner of different governing bodies in professional athletics and international
- 18:48Speaker 5: athletics saying no, if you do this, you can't come
- 18:50Speaker 5: back in here, almost like a you know, a more
- 18:53Speaker 5: extreme version of what happened and live with the PGA Tour.
- 18:58Speaker 3: I think to your point, you were going to have
- 19:00Speaker 3: to have something absolutely so insane that it was can't miss.
- 19:06Speaker 3: You're gonna have to have something that's just absolutely and
- 19:08Speaker 3: like I said earlier, I mean shout out to Hunt Armstrong.
- 19:10Speaker 3: That's the name of the swimmer that one first place
- 19:12Speaker 3: in the men's fifty meters backstroke, giving him a shout
- 19:14Speaker 3: out because he came in and said, hey, I'll take
- 19:16Speaker 3: everybody on.
- 19:17Speaker 4: They've all juiced. I haven't.
- 19:18Speaker 6: So he came in non enhanced and then won. And
- 19:21Speaker 6: then to your point, we did get one and by
- 19:23Speaker 6: the way, for winning, he got two hundred and fifty
- 19:25Speaker 6: thousand bucks. But also Greek Olympian Christian Glauck home that's
- 19:30Speaker 6: the perfect pronunciation of that did walk away with a
- 19:33Speaker 6: million dollars for setting a record pace on that, So
- 19:37Speaker 6: that's the enticing moment of it, But you didn't get
- 19:40Speaker 6: enough of that. If you're gonna let everybody juice, and
- 19:43Speaker 6: you're gonna let everybody.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Take a bunch of drugs, and you let everybody put
- 19:45Speaker 3: whatever they want their bodies to come in, then you
- 19:48Speaker 3: need to see these sorts of results that we associate
- 19:51Speaker 3: with he man, like you need to see the sorts
- 19:53Speaker 3: of results that we associate with superheroes. So to me,
- 19:57Speaker 3: the biggest downfall of the enhanced games is that you
- 19:59Speaker 3: can't have normal human results to what was expected to
- 20:03Speaker 3: be superhuman as an event. If you're letting everybody juice
- 20:07Speaker 3: and everybody inject and everybody get weird through the whole
- 20:10Speaker 3: portion and portion of this, then it's got to get
- 20:12Speaker 3: absolutely massive for it to work. So that's my my kids.
- 20:17Speaker 3: I'm all, I don't care. I don't care what people
- 20:19Speaker 3: injecting their body, your body, your choice.
- 20:21Speaker 5: I don't love like the promotion of it. I feel
- 20:25Speaker 5: like it's going to cause some level of harm for
- 20:29Speaker 5: people who are just trying to, you know, outjuice the
- 20:32Speaker 5: other person in this in a competition like this, but
- 20:35Speaker 5: I don't know. I mean, you're probably right.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Yeah, but if you're stupid enough to outjuice somebody else
- 20:39Speaker 3: and cause harm to yourself, then man, like Darwinism, at
- 20:43Speaker 3: some point, I just no longer care.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I just no longer like.
- 20:45Speaker 5: I would like to avoid some level of tragic outcome.
- 20:51Speaker 6: I am I I the older I get.
- 20:53Speaker 3: This is my old man statement. Buck started with his
- 20:55Speaker 3: old man statement about the NBA. I am at this
- 20:58Speaker 3: spot in my life where I'm like, Man, if you're
- 21:00Speaker 3: gonna put yourself in that level of risk and you
- 21:03Speaker 3: don't manage.
- 21:03Speaker 4: It, well, I can't fix stupid.
- 21:05Speaker 3: And you know the Keanu Reeves thing where he said,
- 21:08Speaker 3: I'm done trying to argue with anybody that tells me
- 21:10Speaker 3: one plus one equals three. Good on you, Like I'm
- 21:12Speaker 3: just done. Like if somebody wants to inject fifty thousand
- 21:15Speaker 3: things into their body because they think it's going to
- 21:17Speaker 3: make them faster, and in the process they keel over. Man,
- 21:20Speaker 3: I can't fix stupid. I can't help that person. I
- 21:23Speaker 3: just got to let them help themselves. However, they need
- 21:25Speaker 3: to get a personal responsibility. We all need a little
- 21:28Speaker 3: more personal responsibility. Go out and own your own you
- 21:32Speaker 3: know what. That's all I'm saying. So let's do this.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Let's bring in a guest now as we Mark Stein
- 21:36Speaker 3: joins us, gonna figure out what we make of what
- 21:39Speaker 3: we've seen so far. Mark, thanks for the time, man,
- 21:42Speaker 3: especially a memorial. They really appreciate you hanging out with us.
- 21:44Speaker 3: I keep hearing now that San Antonio went one game
- 21:47Speaker 3: without a bunch of turnovers, they've solved it. Have they
- 21:50Speaker 3: actually solved their turnover issue against Okac?
- 21:53Speaker 9: I don't know if they've solved it, but they've certainly
- 21:55Speaker 9: given the Thunder a lot to worry about, a lot
- 21:58Speaker 9: to be concerned about. And no, the Knicks are so
- 22:03Speaker 9: hot that Game four was a win for them too,
- 22:06Speaker 9: because the Knicks have a chance to finish off a
- 22:10Speaker 9: sweep now and buy themselves eight full days of rest.
- 22:15Speaker 11: Whereas the Spurs and Thunder, whether their turnover issues are over,
- 22:19Speaker 11: they're going at least six, could be going seven. And
- 22:25Speaker 11: the Knicks are living right right.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Now well, and the Calves are just in such a
- 22:31Speaker 5: terrible situation a lot of their own making. Mark, what
- 22:34Speaker 5: did you make of Kenny Atkinson's explanation that seems to
- 22:38Speaker 5: have caught a lot of attention because in principle, I
- 22:40Speaker 5: understand what he's trying to say, it's just such a
- 22:42Speaker 5: poorly time moment to say it.
- 22:45Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean he's getting beat up for it pretty good.
- 22:49Speaker 9: But you know, look, this series is over. There's no
- 22:54Speaker 9: way the Knicks are going to blow a three to
- 22:55Speaker 9: zero lead, and the kind of dialogue and students that
- 23:01Speaker 9: are going to be asked about the Calves, it's going
- 23:03Speaker 9: to get a lot more uncomfortable for everybody there, including
- 23:07Speaker 9: Kenny Atkinson, because you know, they need a home win
- 23:10Speaker 9: tonight just to avoid a sweep. If they can't avoid
- 23:13Speaker 9: the sweep, It's just all the stuff that was being
- 23:16Speaker 9: talked about when the Calves were struggling with Detroit. It's
- 23:20Speaker 9: all going to come back. And the Calves get Donovan
- 23:25Speaker 9: Mitchell to sign a contract extension and he's contract extension
- 23:28Speaker 9: eligible on July seventh. If Donovan Mitchell does not want
- 23:32Speaker 9: to do a contract extension, does that mean the Calves
- 23:35Speaker 9: have to listen to trade offers for him? The Calves
- 23:38Speaker 9: phone is going to ring for Jared Allen. How do
- 23:40Speaker 9: the Calves handle that? Is Kenny Atkinson going to continue
- 23:44Speaker 9: as their coach after another postseason disappointment. Yes, the Calves
- 23:48Speaker 9: got to the conference finals this time, but if they
- 23:51Speaker 9: go out in four or five, I mean, that is
- 23:53Speaker 9: a rough ending when let's face it. Apart from the
- 23:56Speaker 9: final three games in the Detroit series, they haven't looked
- 23:59Speaker 9: good in these playoffs. And James Harden. You know, James
- 24:03Speaker 9: Harden would not have forced a trade to Cleveland if
- 24:06Speaker 9: he didn't think he was getting a multi year deal.
- 24:08Speaker 9: The Cavs are going to have to deal with all
- 24:10Speaker 9: of these things as soon as Tuesday. So the Kenny
- 24:15Speaker 9: Atkinson comment about expected shot qualities obviously getting a lot
- 24:19Speaker 9: of focus right now. But they have such more daunting
- 24:24Speaker 9: things to worry about in Cleveland unless they are somehow
- 24:28Speaker 9: the first team in NBA history that ever overcomes a
- 24:31Speaker 9: three to zero deficit in a best of seven.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Mark Stein is with us here on Fox Sports Radio.
- 24:37Speaker 5: You can follow him at the Stein Line. You can
- 24:39Speaker 5: also check out his sub stack while you're there. Are
- 24:43Speaker 5: we still treating the Knicks like a novelty from your perspective?
- 24:47Speaker 9: I don't think so. Not when you win ten in
- 24:49Speaker 9: a row, not when you're running up the point margin
- 24:52Speaker 9: differentials that they are. I mean, and again I just
- 24:56Speaker 9: you know, normally I wouldn't want eight days of rest,
- 24:59Speaker 9: but if if that's my choice, when you know that
- 25:04Speaker 9: the other two teams are just beating each other up,
- 25:10Speaker 9: and of course Okse's got I mean, both teams have
- 25:13Speaker 9: injury concerns, but I mean the Thunder right now, no
- 25:16Speaker 9: Jalen Williams, no AJ Mitchell, and chet Holmgren is getting
- 25:19Speaker 9: completely outplayed. It's not even close in the center matchup.
- 25:24Speaker 9: So you know, the Knicks, I think, look, we are
- 25:31Speaker 9: headed one way or another for an absolutely it's going
- 25:34Speaker 9: to be an absolutely momentous outcome in the NBA Finals.
- 25:38Speaker 9: You're either going to see the Thunder repeat, which is
- 25:41Speaker 9: something we haven't seen in the NBA since the Warriors
- 25:43Speaker 9: in twenty seventeen and twenty eighteen. Or you're going to
- 25:46Speaker 9: see Wemby's first ring, or you're going to see the
- 25:49Speaker 9: Knicks win their first championship in more than fifty years.
- 25:52Speaker 9: Any of those outcomes are going to be a real
- 25:56Speaker 9: statement maker. And the Knicks are playing the best basketball
- 26:01Speaker 9: in the league right now, the best two way basketball
- 26:03Speaker 9: in the league. You have to take them seriously.
- 26:06Speaker 3: So Mark, let me be a little bit of a
- 26:08Speaker 3: contrarian and I'll just get off Twitter for the day
- 26:10Speaker 3: because this isn't going to go over well. But like,
- 26:12Speaker 3: the Knicks beat a Hawks team that frankly sucks, the
- 26:15Speaker 3: Knicks beat to seventy six ers who are fine, and
- 26:18Speaker 3: now they're beating the Calves, who are fine at best.
- 26:21Speaker 3: I mean, is there some port like the Knicks are
- 26:24Speaker 3: not going through this juggernaut and I know they're kicking
- 26:26Speaker 3: butt now I understand that it looks really good. None
- 26:29Speaker 3: of these teams that they've beaten or will have beaten
- 26:32Speaker 3: are anywhere near the team they're going to be playing
- 26:34Speaker 3: in the finals, even if it's a team injury riddle
- 26:37Speaker 3: by injury. Are is there some level of the Knicks
- 26:39Speaker 3: that we need to at least account for who they
- 26:41Speaker 3: played for how they get there.
- 26:43Speaker 9: There's no way you can distribute any of that. Everything
- 26:46Speaker 9: you said is fact. But and look, the East has
- 26:50Speaker 9: been perceived as inferior to the West for the last
- 26:53Speaker 9: you know, since Michael Jordan's second retirement in Chicago. I mean,
- 26:57Speaker 9: the West is always you know, for literally thirty years,
- 27:01Speaker 9: the West has been the stronger, deeper conference. But I
- 27:03Speaker 9: think the argument that you would hear back from Knicks
- 27:07Speaker 9: fans is, well, Okay, the Spurs and the thunder are
- 27:10Speaker 9: going up against each other now, but who did they
- 27:13Speaker 9: see in the first two rounds? Now the West, you
- 27:17Speaker 9: had Minnesota and Denver, who have become such that's become
- 27:23Speaker 9: such a fierce rivalry here in recent years. That's a
- 27:26Speaker 9: killer first round matchup that one of those teams is
- 27:29Speaker 9: going to lose and then Minnesota advances, but as injury
- 27:32Speaker 9: compromise because they've lost Dante DiVincenzo and Anthony Edwards played somehow.
- 27:37Speaker 9: I still don't know how he came back from that
- 27:39Speaker 9: knee injury. But I don't think Anthony Edwards was at
- 27:42Speaker 9: his best. But you know, when you win, you don't
- 27:47Speaker 9: have to apologize, and the Knicks will apologize to no one.
- 27:50Speaker 9: They are redling in this ride. And I think when
- 27:54Speaker 9: most analysts would look at this in the NBA, and
- 27:57Speaker 9: I'm talking about analysts within team walls, not talking about
- 28:00Speaker 9: TV analysts. Right point, differential always is seen as a
- 28:05Speaker 9: great indicator of future success. So if the Knicks are
- 28:08Speaker 9: playing supposed subpar competition, the scores they're running up, Bill
- 28:14Speaker 9: tell you this is a dangerous team. I mean what
- 28:17Speaker 9: they did to atlant you know they lost two one
- 28:19Speaker 9: point games to Atlanta and then ended up finishing that
- 28:21Speaker 9: series in a fifty one point rop, so you know,
- 28:27Speaker 9: and knowing the Knicks, I think they'll use that talk
- 28:30Speaker 9: as fuel as well. I mean, I really I can't
- 28:33Speaker 9: wait for these finals. I think either matchup is going
- 28:35Speaker 9: to be really interesting with so much riding on it.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Real quick before we get you out of here. Mark,
- 28:41Speaker 3: We appreciate your time, Spurs. Okay, see best of three. Now,
- 28:44Speaker 3: who do you think wins?
- 28:47Speaker 4: I mean if.
- 28:50Speaker 9: If Jalen Williams and A. J. Mitchell continue to miss
- 28:53Speaker 9: time and Holm Grin doesn't come back with an answer here,
- 28:58Speaker 9: I mean, the Spurs have an incredible opera even without
- 29:00Speaker 9: home court advantage to go to the finals in Wemby's
- 29:05Speaker 9: first ever playoff one, which is that is ridiculous, but
- 29:08Speaker 9: it's on the table.
- 29:10Speaker 4: You're not wrong.
- 29:11Speaker 3: You guys can follow him on Twitter x at the
- 29:13Speaker 3: Steinliners I check it out. Check it out his substack
- 29:16Speaker 3: as well. That's Mark Stein dot substack dot com. Mark,
- 29:18Speaker 3: longtime vann of your work man. Thanks so much for
- 29:20Speaker 3: hanging out with us. We appreciate it.
- 29:21Speaker 9: Thanks more, guys, appreciate the kind words.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Talk so great stuff from Mark who does a great
- 29:26Speaker 3: job covering and he's right. The point differential for the
- 29:28Speaker 3: Knicks is staggering. There is no.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Doubt about that.
- 29:32Speaker 3: All of this brings us to the controversy in Cleveland.
- 29:35Speaker 3: It's not what you say sometimes, it's how and when
- 29:37Speaker 3: you say it. Should the Cavs be looking at their
- 29:40Speaker 3: head coach for a different tone. We'll talk about it next.
- 29:43Speaker 3: He's Buck Rising. I'm Jason Fitzbucket Fits on Fox Sports Radio.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 29:51Speaker 2: Live weekdacent three pm Eastern, twelve pm Pacific.
- 29:56Speaker 3: The New York Football Giants haven't even gotten anywhere near kickoff,
- 30:01Speaker 3: but that hasn't stopped the conversation, a conversation we knew
- 30:04Speaker 3: would be loud about this team anyway, because expectations are
- 30:07Speaker 3: through the roof. But now as we inch towards the
- 30:11Speaker 3: actual training camp period, seems to be at least some
- 30:15Speaker 3: drama on social media that may or may not leak
- 30:19Speaker 3: into how this team starts and performs and what it
- 30:22Speaker 3: looks like for everything for the Giants. Behind the scenes,
- 30:25Speaker 3: It's Bucking Fits. He's Buck Rising. I'm Jason fitz if
- 30:27Speaker 3: anyone didn't see this, particularly Jackson Dart, quarterback of the
- 30:32Speaker 3: New York Football Giants, on social media went everywhere. He
- 30:35Speaker 3: was introducing the president for a speech, something that for
- 30:38Speaker 3: many of you listening you may not have a problem with.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Something for many of you listening, you may have a
- 30:42Speaker 4: problem with that.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Everybody feels differently about this, and Buck and I we
- 30:46Speaker 3: do a good job, I think in our show every
- 30:47Speaker 3: Saturday of keeping politics out of sports, but there are
- 30:50Speaker 3: times that these conversations leak over because these conversations are
- 30:54Speaker 3: real in locker rooms. And so when all of a
- 30:57Speaker 3: sudden you see Jackson Darton introducing the president, then you
- 31:00Speaker 3: saw a reaction on social media from Abdul Carter.
- 31:03Speaker 6: Star player as he posted on Twitter.
- 31:06Speaker 3: X I thought that this was ai and then Abdul
- 31:09Speaker 3: Carter then later went in and said, we talked about it,
- 31:11Speaker 3: and you know, you guys can keep your narratives. So
- 31:15Speaker 3: Abdul Carter created a conversation about Jackson Dart and then
- 31:20Speaker 3: faulted everybody for wondering what that conversation was going to
- 31:23Speaker 3: sound like it.
- 31:23Speaker 6: Buck, I'm interesting and you interested your thoughts.
- 31:25Speaker 3: In case anyone's new to this audience, you cover the Titans,
- 31:29Speaker 3: You're around NFL locker rooms all the time. That's part
- 31:31Speaker 3: of why I think it's interesting because locker rooms are
- 31:34Speaker 3: definitely you know, there are groups of a lot of people.
- 31:37Speaker 4: From a lot of different backgrounds, with a lot of beliefs.
- 31:39Speaker 3: It'd be fools gold to think that there are people
- 31:41Speaker 3: politically divided in locker rooms.
- 31:44Speaker 5: Yeah, and for the most part, I'm again as a
- 31:48Speaker 5: media member. We get access to the locker room during
- 31:53Speaker 5: a normal like during the regular season fitsie. Just for
- 31:56Speaker 5: the audience's reference, it's Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, forty five minutes
- 32:00Speaker 5: a day, and then obviously postgame on Sundays after whatever's happened, right,
- 32:07Speaker 5: And there are some visceral moments. It's not the entire
- 32:10Speaker 5: picture of who these guys are or every one of
- 32:13Speaker 5: their different conversations or interactions or dynamics in a locker room,
- 32:18Speaker 5: but you do get a snapshot, right. And this, for
- 32:23Speaker 5: again the audience's reference, is my tenth year covering a
- 32:26Speaker 5: team on a daily day or day to day basis.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Things may be different in New York versus what I've
- 32:34Speaker 5: experienced here in Tennessee. You've got a lot of guys
- 32:36Speaker 5: who go through all different kinds of markets, all different
- 32:40Speaker 5: kinds of stops, some with different beliefs, some from different
- 32:43Speaker 5: parts of the country, some who played in the SEC,
- 32:46Speaker 5: some who have played FCS football. Right, it's a very
- 32:49Speaker 5: very diverse collection of human beings with all manner of
- 32:54Speaker 5: different beliefs on things. So you have in this situation.
- 33:00Speaker 5: From my understanding, and in fact, I've talked to a
- 33:02Speaker 5: couple of people who help set the Dart thing up. Okay,
- 33:08Speaker 5: just for reference, because obviously this is not a spur
- 33:12Speaker 5: of the moment type of situation. These things have to
- 33:14Speaker 5: be orchestrated. There are marketing teams involved, there are agents involved,
- 33:19Speaker 5: There's all manner manner, so many different levels of things
- 33:25Speaker 5: that have to be done before a an NFL quarterback
- 33:29Speaker 5: can get on stage at a political rally, before the
- 33:31Speaker 5: President of the United States speaks in New York City. Right,
- 33:36Speaker 5: it's all man or of different thing. So Dart had
- 33:40Speaker 5: the opportunity to attend as a spectator and just sit
- 33:45Speaker 5: in the background or introduce the president, which is what
- 33:51Speaker 5: he chose to do. So that's a choice that Jackson
- 33:55Speaker 5: Dart made. Okay, you immediately have to understand because a
- 33:59Speaker 5: lot of I say all this to preface and start
- 34:02Speaker 5: with Jackson Dart because I feel like a lot of
- 34:03Speaker 5: heat is going to come Abdul Carter's way, and I
- 34:06Speaker 5: think a lot of it, justifiably so. But because he
- 34:10Speaker 5: I think screwed up his own messaging, he's an easier
- 34:13Speaker 5: target than Dart, who I also think deserves at least
- 34:16Speaker 5: some scrutiny. I'm not saying criticism. I'm saying scrutiny. There
- 34:20Speaker 5: is a difference. Maybe you consider it criticism. I do
- 34:23Speaker 5: think that I'm I'm trying to be more sensitive around
- 34:27Speaker 5: people's political feelings and just focus on what was chosen
- 34:31Speaker 5: to be done here. Okay, so Dart made a choice
- 34:34Speaker 5: just introduce the president, and that set off a chain
- 34:38Speaker 5: of events. There are going to be people in his
- 34:40Speaker 5: locker room, in his cafeteria, on his strength and conditioning staff.
- 34:45Speaker 5: And again I say that not knowing everybody in New York,
- 34:48Speaker 5: but I do know some people. Hell a lot of
- 34:50Speaker 5: them passed through Tennessee as a matter of fact, as
- 34:52Speaker 5: far as the coaching trees go, and all manner of
- 34:55Speaker 5: different things. So I know that there are different kinds
- 34:57Speaker 5: of people in that locker room, in that Bill So
- 35:01Speaker 5: Dart made a choice and a polarizing one. No matter
- 35:05Speaker 5: what you think of political discourse, no matter what you
- 35:09Speaker 5: think of his right to do what he did, and
- 35:10Speaker 5: he does have a right to do what he did.
- 35:13Speaker 5: It's a choice and it's a polarizing one. Now is
- 35:17Speaker 5: the correct way to handle it? If you're abdul Carter
- 35:20Speaker 5: to say, I thought this bleep was ai what are
- 35:22Speaker 5: we doing? And that's not exactly the wording on the tweet,
- 35:26Speaker 5: but that was that was the tweet. Maybe you call
- 35:30Speaker 5: Dart first before you fire off the tweet and turn
- 35:34Speaker 5: this into a speculative story about the divisive nature of
- 35:41Speaker 5: what it is. Potentially potentially divisive, although there's gonna be
- 35:45Speaker 5: some repercussions even if it doesn't make it to public
- 35:50Speaker 5: discourse or online discourse or even between player to player
- 35:53Speaker 5: person A person whoever feels strongly about what Dart did
- 35:57Speaker 5: can feel strongly about it in private versus what appen
- 36:00Speaker 5: abdul Carter did. Abdul Carter made it public. He aired
- 36:03Speaker 5: the laundry. Whether it's dirty or not, you can have
- 36:05Speaker 5: that conversation. So then he's upset because he made something
- 36:10Speaker 5: very very public and predictably around this, it's like, you know,
- 36:15Speaker 5: it's like, uh, I mean, I want to call it
- 36:18Speaker 5: moth to a flame, but it feels more like flies
- 36:20Speaker 5: around a dung heap, the way that people just de
- 36:23Speaker 5: send on this crap, and it is crap for the
- 36:25Speaker 5: most part. But Abdul Carter can't you know, then wag
- 36:30Speaker 5: the finger at the Internet for being the Internet about
- 36:32Speaker 5: the most Internet story ever. Like that's it's flawed on
- 36:36Speaker 5: a number of different fronts on both sides. I don't
- 36:39Speaker 5: know that there's a right or wrong here. I think
- 36:42Speaker 5: too often, and especially when it comes to a political
- 36:45Speaker 5: figure being involved, especially this particular president, because people have
- 36:49Speaker 5: strong opinions about him on either side, you have to
- 36:54Speaker 5: understand that this is going to create a spike that
- 36:59Speaker 5: in some ways you simply can't control.
- 37:02Speaker 3: I mean, look, as I've told you before in our
- 37:04Speaker 3: friendship over the years, when I was a kid, I
- 37:07Speaker 3: played for I played the violin for Reagan, I played
- 37:10Speaker 3: the violin for George H.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Bush, I played the violin for Bill Clinton. Those were all.
- 37:14Speaker 6: Things that were basically decided for me.
- 37:16Speaker 4: I was a kid.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Right as an adult that process continued and I played
- 37:23Speaker 3: for a coachry music artist at one point that was
- 37:25Speaker 3: invited to play for George W.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Bush and at a time that that was not.
- 37:29Speaker 3: Necessarily an easy decision for everybody, depending on where you
- 37:33Speaker 3: aligned politically. But the artist I was playing for sat
- 37:35Speaker 3: down and had to make a decision did he want
- 37:38Speaker 3: to be aligned with whatever that meant even though he
- 37:40Speaker 3: didn't necessarily I'm not going to speak to his politics,
- 37:43Speaker 3: but it seemed to me in the moment like he
- 37:45Speaker 3: didn't necessarily align with the way that George W. Bush
- 37:48Speaker 3: saw policy. He looked at it and said, it's a
- 37:51Speaker 3: chance to perform on the White House lawn. This is
- 37:53Speaker 3: a really cool thing. I think we should do it
- 37:54Speaker 3: made that decision. I was part of an artist that
- 37:57Speaker 3: had the opportunity to play for Obama, and there was
- 38:00Speaker 3: a conversation because that artist did not align with Obama politically.
- 38:04Speaker 3: There was a conversation that happened on that bus about
- 38:06Speaker 3: whether or not do you want to be associated? Do
- 38:08Speaker 3: you have to worry about association that's for less, far
- 38:12Speaker 3: less polarizing my presidents. And I use those examples not
- 38:15Speaker 3: to speak to any of my politics, because frankly, my
- 38:17Speaker 3: politics ain't any of y'all's business to me. I think
- 38:21Speaker 3: the most important part of that is even in country music,
- 38:24Speaker 3: you had to sit down and say, Okay, we're going
- 38:27Speaker 3: to go play at the White House for this president.
- 38:31Speaker 3: How does the artist feel about the person whose face
- 38:33Speaker 3: is going to be had, the person whose media is
- 38:34Speaker 3: going to be on this. How do you feel about
- 38:36Speaker 3: it that you have to be aware of that. That's
- 38:37Speaker 3: at least something you had to make a part of
- 38:39Speaker 3: your decision. For me personally, I would always go play
- 38:41Speaker 3: for a president because I think the White House has
- 38:43Speaker 3: such a tremendous importance to our country and it means.
- 38:46Speaker 4: So much so I absolutely love it.
- 38:48Speaker 3: The decision to speak to introduce a president at a
- 38:53Speaker 3: speech is one that you have to understand comes with
- 38:57Speaker 3: some level of the opinion's.
- 38:59Speaker 4: Going to be they're going to fire for.
- 39:00Speaker 3: And it comes back to the thing that I say
- 39:02Speaker 3: to you all the time that Kenny Rogers said to
- 39:04Speaker 3: me that you know perception's reality because you created it
- 39:08Speaker 3: and now you live in it. So whatever media storm
- 39:11Speaker 3: was created by Jackson Dart deciding to introduce the president.
- 39:17Speaker 4: Well he helped create that. Now he has to live
- 39:19Speaker 4: in it.
- 39:19Speaker 3: For Abdul Carter, whatever media storm is created by his
- 39:23Speaker 3: reaction he created and he has to live in it.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Like these are just real things now, locker rooms like
- 39:29Speaker 3: anything else. You know, grown ass adults should be able
- 39:32Speaker 3: to sit down and figure out how to bury those differences.
- 39:34Speaker 3: That's not where this started. So to your point, Abdul Carter,
- 39:38Speaker 3: you know, kind of finger wagging after initially going to
- 39:41Speaker 3: social media bothers me. You know, it just bothers me
- 39:44Speaker 3: because if I did something that you didn't like, Buck,
- 39:47Speaker 3: and we're teammates, I would think that you would text me.
- 39:50Speaker 3: If you didn't text me, and then you go to
- 39:52Speaker 3: social media and you say my Fox Sports radio co
- 39:54Speaker 3: host is a moron.
- 39:56Speaker 4: Well, if at that.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Point awful announcing picks it up, that's not that's our fault.
- 40:01Speaker 3: That's our fault for not communicating like adults. That's our
- 40:04Speaker 3: fault for not just talking to each other instead of
- 40:07Speaker 3: talking to each other.
- 40:07Speaker 4: On social media. That part of it.
- 40:10Speaker 3: You have to understand when you play for the Giants
- 40:12Speaker 3: that everything that happens is going to be magnified. It's
- 40:15Speaker 3: just going to be a bigger deal because it's New York.
- 40:18Speaker 5: So I think what we're also dealing with here, in
- 40:22Speaker 5: part is a generational you know, divide because I'm not
- 40:27Speaker 5: saying you're not wrong about what Abdol Carter did and
- 40:31Speaker 5: how to handle it, right, But I do think that
- 40:35Speaker 5: a lot of these dudes are on social media and
- 40:37Speaker 5: communicate via social media almost as much as they do text.
- 40:41Speaker 5: In fact, some of them probably more than they do text.
- 40:44Speaker 5: Especially if you're a pro athlete in the New York market.
- 40:46Speaker 5: God knows who has your number and how many unread
- 40:49Speaker 5: texts do you have, or who's responsible for making sure
- 40:52Speaker 5: that you respond to messages and things like that, for
- 40:55Speaker 5: all we know, and again just Devil's advocate on basically
- 41:01Speaker 5: every side that I can on this to cover as
- 41:03Speaker 5: much ground as we can on this on a talking
- 41:08Speaker 5: point that should not be as big of one as
- 41:12Speaker 5: I think it's going to be. But for all we know,
- 41:17Speaker 5: Carter did text Dart, and Dart didn't check his texts, right,
- 41:21Speaker 5: I mean that's fair, And I don't know that there's
- 41:25Speaker 5: there's just an.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I honestlyn't thought of that, Like to give you credit,
- 41:28Speaker 3: I hadn't thought of that.
- 41:29Speaker 5: Well, I mean, FITZI I don't check my text you know,
- 41:32Speaker 5: I don't. I've had I've got four different email accounts.
- 41:35Speaker 5: I don't check my email. It's one of my worst qualities. Uh.
- 41:38Speaker 5: The only time that I look at my email is
- 41:40Speaker 5: when you you and I do this show because I
- 41:43Speaker 5: know Ian has sent me some things that I need
- 41:44Speaker 5: to read and then you end up reading in them anyway,
- 41:46Speaker 5: because I forget. Like that's that's my level of responsiveness.
- 41:50Speaker 5: I'm not Jackson Dart, you know what I'm saying. One
- 41:53Speaker 5: of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard is that
- 41:54Speaker 5: Adam Schefter doesn't have a single unread text message, which
- 41:58Speaker 5: just sounds like a hell on like any other whatever
- 42:01Speaker 5: people feel, like even the strongest, most visceral hate for email,
- 42:05Speaker 5: Adam Schefter has to I think in my brain feel
- 42:08Speaker 5: that way about text messages. But even still, I don't
- 42:12Speaker 5: check all my text messages. I leave, you know, I
- 42:16Speaker 5: leave some things loose or I don't follow up or whatever.
- 42:19Speaker 5: I forget I open it and I forget to respond.
- 42:21Speaker 5: I have my read receipts on to help remind me,
- 42:23Speaker 5: and sometimes people will get upset at me about that.
- 42:25Speaker 5: But still, so for all I know, Dart didn't look
- 42:28Speaker 5: at his texts and was like, yeah, okay, whatever it happened.
- 42:32Speaker 5: So social media is gonna get a lot more attention
- 42:34Speaker 5: than a text to Jackson dart May in that situation. Again,
- 42:38Speaker 5: I'm not saying we don't know. I'm creating a hypothetical
- 42:42Speaker 5: in which Abdol Carter may have done something better in
- 42:45Speaker 5: this than what he did, because I do think he
- 42:47Speaker 5: made it messier. It's it's like worst case in maybe
- 42:50Speaker 5: not worst case scenario, but like an instantaneous reaction to
- 42:54Speaker 5: the thing that we all thought was going to be
- 42:55Speaker 5: reactive anyway, right, and it's from one of his guys,
- 42:58Speaker 5: Like it's from the best I mean, maybe not the
- 42:59Speaker 5: best pass rusher, but like the future best pass rusher
- 43:02Speaker 5: on the Giants if all things go to plan for
- 43:05Speaker 5: Abdul Carter talking about the franchise quarterback and a political
- 43:08Speaker 5: statement that the franchise quarterback made, because that is a statement. Right.
- 43:12Speaker 5: It's different to go, as you mentioned, to go to
- 43:15Speaker 5: the White House to celebrate a national championship or an
- 43:18Speaker 5: NBA Finals winner, a Stanley Cup or whatever, or you know,
- 43:22Speaker 5: a musical celebration, Kennedy Center whatever is right, the Trump
- 43:26Speaker 5: Kennedy Center, whatever we're calling it now. I like all
- 43:29Speaker 5: these different things. That's different than being willing to introduce
- 43:34Speaker 5: the political figure, whomever the political figure is at a rally.
- 43:37Speaker 5: So Dart made a statement, Carter made his, It got
- 43:41Speaker 5: immediate headlines. And because it's in the most flammable of
- 43:44Speaker 5: the media markets that we have, it turns into a
- 43:47Speaker 5: national story right where you're on NBC Nightly News, and
- 43:50Speaker 5: you're on CNN and you're on Fox and not just
- 43:53Speaker 5: Sports Center at six o'clock or whatever. Just it magnifies
- 43:57Speaker 5: this to a level that, especially in a slow news time,
- 44:02Speaker 5: it's all really anybody has to just flap their mouths.
- 44:06Speaker 3: About to your point, I have one thousand and seven
- 44:09Speaker 3: unread texts right now, in one hundred and forty seven
- 44:14Speaker 3: ten unread emails.
- 44:15Speaker 5: You know what I mean.
- 44:16Speaker 4: I can't I can't judge. You're right. I hadn't even
- 44:18Speaker 4: thought of that angle.
- 44:20Speaker 3: But I appreciate you making me think of that because
- 44:22Speaker 3: it makes you approach all of this differently.
- 44:23Speaker 12: What we know is that just made mistakes with pro
- 44:26Speaker 12: athletes before, as somebody who covers them on a daily basis,
- 44:30Speaker 12: And you know Jef Simmons trying to take my head
- 44:32Speaker 12: off one time, like say, you know you you understand
- 44:34Speaker 12: that there may be additional context.
- 44:36Speaker 5: Again, I have no idea, but it's possible.
- 44:39Speaker 4: It's it's a fair point.
- 44:40Speaker 3: And look, the other thing about this that I will
- 44:42Speaker 3: remind the world is that if the Giants come out
- 44:44Speaker 3: and win four straight games, nobody's going to give a
- 44:46Speaker 3: damn about any of this. This will only matter if
- 44:48Speaker 3: things get fractured. We'll keep breaking down the NFL because
- 44:51Speaker 3: for all the conversation about the Giants, there's a conversation
- 44:54Speaker 3: about the way the NFL schedule has lined up that
- 44:56Speaker 3: has us wondering what the future of Sundays actually looks like.
- 45:00Speaker 4: Talk about the next Sea's Buck Rising. I'm Jason fitz
- 45:02Speaker 4: Bucking Fits with you on Fox Sports Radio.
