- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host, Clay, and with me like always,
- 0:28Speaker 2: and a little under the weather is Katie. Katie, I'm
- 0:36Speaker 2: sure I can already tell how but how are you doing?
- 0:41Speaker 3: You can hear it in my laugh? No, guys, I
- 0:46Speaker 3: had completely lost my voice and I'm making a slow recovery.
- 0:50Speaker 3: So we're gonna try and keep this one a little
- 0:52Speaker 3: bit short so I can continue to recover for our
- 0:57Speaker 3: grand live review of Mandalar and Grogu on Friday. Klay,
- 1:00Speaker 3: why don't you tell them about that?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yes, of course tonight, of course we're going to be
- 1:06Speaker 2: talking about the Mandalorian and Grogu theories and predictions because
- 1:11Speaker 2: it is finally releasing. Guys, we are finally getting a
- 1:14Speaker 2: Star Wars movie in theaters tomorrow. I am watching it
- 1:19Speaker 2: tomorrow at three. I believe Katie is as well.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Eight.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I might be able to get a second viewing on
- 1:28Speaker 2: Friday morning, and then we will record Friday evening at
- 1:35Speaker 2: eight pm here right on the gig First YouTube channel,
- 1:42Speaker 2: where we will of course review the movie in full.
- 1:48Speaker 3: So yeah, and guys, we will be talking like LGBTQ
- 1:53Speaker 3: rep diversity, like everything that we typically do for our
- 1:56Speaker 3: book review, we will be talking about that for our
- 1:59Speaker 3: movie review of bringing it down non spoiler and spoiler.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Sorry I like to talk too much.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Oh thank you, because I totally forgot to mention that part. Anyway. Yes,
- 2:13Speaker 2: if you are newer to the Star Wars Alliance, welcome.
- 2:18Speaker 2: But also we review a lot of books and that
- 2:22Speaker 2: is kind of our focal point when it comes to reviews.
- 2:28Speaker 2: We will, of course, like Katie said, talk about the inclusion.
- 2:32Speaker 2: We will talk about character development, how it moves the
- 2:35Speaker 2: story forward. Of course, especially with there being so much
- 2:40Speaker 2: talk about the future and possibly the non future of
- 2:47Speaker 2: the Mando Verse and everything else. We will definitely see
- 2:51Speaker 2: how things will progress after watching the movie. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 2: that'll be very very interesting.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Oh shoot, I say one more thing.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I'm sure now. Uh. We do have some unfortunate news
- 3:15Speaker 2: for people who have not heard. As far as our
- 3:18Speaker 2: first topic of the day, we lost an icon this week.
- 3:25Speaker 2: One of the biggest voice actors in quite possibly uh
- 3:31Speaker 2: uh millennial era. This man, of course, being Tom Kane
- 3:39Speaker 2: uh had a immense resume. Guys. He of course did
- 3:45Speaker 2: voices for Disney Uh. He did a voice over work
- 3:51Speaker 2: for Disney DVD was something that I showed Katie. He
- 3:55Speaker 2: does the Mono rail narration at uh Disney World. He
- 4:02Speaker 2: also does Happily ever After, so when they do all
- 4:05Speaker 2: the fireworks and stuff at the very end of the night,
- 4:08Speaker 2: Tom Cain is the narrator of that as well. He
- 4:12Speaker 2: has done, of course work with Cartoon Network, with Powerpuff Girls,
- 4:18Speaker 2: with Home for Imaginary Friends, so much work. But I
- 4:25Speaker 2: actually wanted to highlight the work that he's done for
- 4:31Speaker 2: Star Wars specifically. I'm I can't name all the characters,
- 4:36Speaker 2: but I am gonna name all the titles, Okay. So
- 4:41Speaker 2: in his lifetime, tom Kin did work for Shadows of
- 4:44Speaker 2: the Empire, X Wing Versus the Fighter, Rebellion, Droid Works
- 4:50Speaker 2: Episode one, Insider Guide Episode one, Racer, Phantom Menace, Game,
- 4:55Speaker 2: X Wing Alliances, Demolition, Jedi Power Battles, Force Commander, Rogue
- 4:59Speaker 2: Squadron two, Rogue Leader, Super Bombard Racing, Starfighter, Galactic Battlegrounds,
- 5:06Speaker 2: Clone Wars, Game, Jedi Night two, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Starfighter,
- 5:12Speaker 2: Bounty Hunder, Racer, Revenge, Galactic Battlegrounds, Clone Wars two thousand
- 5:17Speaker 2: and three, Rogue Squadron three, Rebel Strike, Jedi Knight, Jedi Academy,
- 5:23Speaker 2: Knights of the Old Republic, Knights of the Old Republic two, Battlefront,
- 5:27Speaker 2: Battlefront two, Revenge of the Sith, video game Republic Commander,
- 5:33Speaker 2: Lego Star Wars two, Empire of War, Robot Chicken, Clone Wars,
- 5:38Speaker 2: the actual film, Forced Unleashed, Clone Wars, the series, Clone Wars,
- 5:45Speaker 2: Lightsaber Duels, Clone Wars, Republic Heroes, Clone Wars, Adventures, Forced
- 5:49Speaker 2: Unleashed to the Old Republic, Lego Star Wars three, Clone Wars,
- 5:52Speaker 2: Lego Star Wars, padw Menace, Smuggler's Gambit, Connect Star Wars,
- 5:58Speaker 2: The Old School three XBOS, three sixty Gimmick, Droid's Jawa Adventure,
- 6:05Speaker 2: Lego Star Wars, Empire Strikes Out, Lego Star Wars, The
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yoda Chronicles, Pinball, Old Republic, Rise of the Hut Cartel
- 6:12Speaker 2: Battlefront twenty fifteen, Force Awakens Old Republican, Knights of the
- 6:15Speaker 2: Fallen Empire, Lego Star Wars, Droid Tales, Rogue One, Lego
- 6:20Speaker 2: Star Wars, TFA Rebels, Forces of Destiny, Battlefront to the
- 6:27Speaker 2: Last Jedi. And you think, oh, you've already said Battlefront two. No,
- 6:30Speaker 2: this is the twenty seventeen version Old Republic, Osla Squadrons,
- 6:35Speaker 2: Lego Star Wars, Holiday Special bad Batch, and Lego Star
- 6:37Speaker 2: Wars sty Walker Saga, And in each one of those
- 6:44Speaker 2: the bare minimum is two voices, whereas in something like
- 6:50Speaker 2: Clone Wars there is like fifteen to twenty. This man
- 6:57Speaker 2: was an icon. This one knew how to work. And
- 7:06Speaker 2: it's just like when I saw that he had passed,
- 7:13Speaker 2: my my whole world kind of froze for a second.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Oh are you muted?
- 7:21Speaker 3: Sorry, y'all. I coughed, and I was trying to save
- 7:24Speaker 3: Clay at any time, and I forgot it's un him mute.
- 7:28Speaker 3: It's a huge loss to the voice acting community. And
- 7:32Speaker 3: I know he hadn't voiced anything quite some time because
- 7:35Speaker 3: he had this stroke, but it still sucks to see
- 7:39Speaker 3: him go. And you sent me that, yes, shir, I
- 7:40Speaker 3: was like no, like so, uh yeah, a huge loss,
- 7:49Speaker 3: and I know he'll be missed.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Uh And I'm I'm just gonna go ahead and and
- 7:54Speaker 2: speak what you would put in the chat, because you
- 7:57Speaker 2: did remember what your thought was. Usually. I believe that
- 8:06Speaker 2: the Marvel Alliance guys and the DC guys still do
- 8:11Speaker 2: this on some capacity. Rating the movie. I don't think
- 8:17Speaker 2: we're going to give it a like traditional score. I
- 8:22Speaker 2: think we you guys, will know the way we think
- 8:26Speaker 2: about the film, the way we're going to talk about it. Yeah,
- 8:29Speaker 2: I think putting a score on it is either going
- 8:32Speaker 2: to be beating a dead horse or just like putting
- 8:37Speaker 2: it into high praises that we're already putting into our
- 8:39Speaker 2: review you know.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's that's what we've stuck with with our
- 8:43Speaker 3: book reviews. Guys. Is like, hey, we don't need to
- 8:46Speaker 3: rate this on a letter grade or a numerical like
- 8:51Speaker 3: because you should know how we feel about it. And
- 8:54Speaker 3: but also like I tend to think about, oh, well,
- 8:57Speaker 3: like this was okay, Like I'm gonna give it a three, like,
- 9:01Speaker 3: but like if it's okay to somebody else, that's going
- 9:04Speaker 3: to be like a one or two. Like, So numerical
- 9:08Speaker 3: scores are all up to interpretation for what your point
- 9:12Speaker 3: of view is. Our goal as reviewers and podcasters is
- 9:16Speaker 3: to give you, guys, our thoughts, and if you value
- 9:20Speaker 3: our thoughts, great, But otherwise, like you don't need to
- 9:24Speaker 3: know what our score is because you get a throw
- 9:27Speaker 3: at interpretation.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I feel like, so, yeah, one one hundred percent trying
- 9:35Speaker 2: to think of what else is on the table for news.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Oh yes, well, speaking of Mandalorian Grogu, the tomato meter
- 9:49Speaker 2: has come out, as well as some quotes, some pool
- 9:53Speaker 2: quotes for thoughts of the movie. I already sent these
- 9:58Speaker 2: two screens shots. We are not going to let these
- 10:03Speaker 2: sway our opinions, because of course we haven't even seen
- 10:06Speaker 2: the movie yet. We're gonna watch the movie. We're gonna
- 10:08Speaker 2: gather own thoughts and everything else. But as of not
- 10:13Speaker 2: as of right now, but as of yesterday, it was
- 10:20Speaker 2: at nine forty five AM at a fifty eight percent.
- 10:26Speaker 3: That's at sixty one percent.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Right now it's at sixty one percent. So it's the
- 10:31Speaker 2: needle has moved a little bit, but not by much.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I had told I think, uh the keekers uh discord
- 10:41Speaker 2: that I believe there is a possibility that it goes
- 10:46Speaker 2: up to like the sixty nine, sixty eight, uh what
- 10:57Speaker 2: you mnna call it level on the tomay. Now that
- 11:02Speaker 2: you tell me that it's sixty one, I don't know
- 11:06Speaker 2: if I don't know if it does. I don't know
- 11:08Speaker 2: if it does, but I do believe that the popcorn meter,
- 11:14Speaker 2: of course, which is the general audience I believe that
- 11:19Speaker 2: will not break ninety, but it will not fall below seventy.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I would agree with that. I think we're gonna be
- 11:33Speaker 3: like like a B range, yeah, because I do think
- 11:40Speaker 3: this is more accessible movie for people to jump into.
- 11:46Speaker 3: And like, I've read a lot where people have been like, oh, well,
- 11:50Speaker 3: we're like trying to start fresh basically so you don't
- 11:53Speaker 3: have to go watch the show. So do you think
- 11:56Speaker 3: that's gonna be the capable And it looks like, based
- 11:59Speaker 3: on some of these quotes, like I could potentially even
- 12:01Speaker 3: show this tomorrow and like it might be like the
- 12:06Speaker 3: best at watching grow.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Gu Right now, I was gonna say, I that's what
- 12:10Speaker 2: these first two viewings for me are going to be.
- 12:16Speaker 2: It's of course, one is for just the hell of
- 12:19Speaker 2: it and just having fun with it. Two is going
- 12:22Speaker 2: to be more critical, more of the super observations and
- 12:28Speaker 2: also looking out for is this something that I could
- 12:32Speaker 2: put on for the entire family once this does hit
- 12:36Speaker 2: Disney Plus? You know ye So one of the other
- 12:41Speaker 2: quotes that had us a little like yeh, and I
- 12:46Speaker 2: kind of thought about it. I don't know if it's
- 12:50Speaker 2: necessarily a bad thing because of today, And this is
- 12:56Speaker 2: gonna sound crazy, but because of today's demographic, and I
- 13:06Speaker 2: feel like, uh, what's what's It's gen Z and then
- 13:10Speaker 2: what's below gen Z? It's Gin Alpha, So I believe
- 13:14Speaker 2: Gen Alpha is from and and again technically Amberln is
- 13:26Speaker 2: uh Gin right after Alpha, I think.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Uh oh, I don't even know what that one would be.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I can't remember what it is. But again, I'm only
- 13:36Speaker 2: taking care of her, so I don't really spend a
- 13:39Speaker 2: whole lot of time with Gen Alpha. But from what
- 13:42Speaker 2: I am seeing online, they're not as like hardcore like
- 13:49Speaker 2: it needs to be kind and blah blah blah. Like yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 2: but again I'm not surrounding myself around that demographic. But
- 13:58Speaker 2: the quote is the man Ilarian Grogu an efficient adventure
- 14:04Speaker 2: that only pretends to be a real Star Wars movie,
- 14:08Speaker 2: And I was like pretends e Yeah, somebody else worded
- 14:13Speaker 2: it in a way that was like, oh, it's a
- 14:19Speaker 2: it's it's Star Wars Light. It's more action adventure Star
- 14:26Speaker 2: Wars Light. So technically I think the closest thing to
- 14:32Speaker 2: this would be Skeleton Crew. Yeah, Skeleton Crew Forward and
- 14:42Speaker 2: Backwards was a space adventure. The lore is what made
- 14:49Speaker 2: it Star Wars related. And then of course, at the
- 14:51Speaker 2: very end of the show spoilers for anybody who hasn't
- 14:56Speaker 2: watched it yet, the appearance of a lightsaber, right, yeah,
- 15:00Speaker 2: like that was really it And people enjoyed Skeleton Crew
- 15:09Speaker 2: for Yeah, we're a majority of people, So I think
- 15:12Speaker 2: that this will be okay.
- 15:21Speaker 3: And I definitely think, like reading these rotten Tomato pull quotes, like,
- 15:27Speaker 3: I feel like that's like the main vibe is like
- 15:30Speaker 3: it all depends on if people are like, it's okay
- 15:33Speaker 3: for it to be an okay movie, or it's not
- 15:36Speaker 3: okay for Star Wars to have an okay movie. Like
- 15:39Speaker 3: rachel Leischman from The Mary Sue who I Trust is
- 15:42Speaker 3: a reviewer, said this isn't going to reinvent Star Wars
- 15:45Speaker 3: as a whole, and it isn't changing movie history. But
- 15:48Speaker 3: I do think that the Mandalori Grugu is the kind
- 15:50Speaker 3: of fun family adventure that fans of the show will enjoy. Now,
- 15:54Speaker 3: another reviewer that I enjoy GERMANE. Lucier. I think is
- 15:59Speaker 3: how you print it's his name from ion nine dot com.
- 16:03Speaker 3: It can be more than a movie. It can be
- 16:05Speaker 3: a life changing experience. Not every Star Wars movie is,
- 16:08Speaker 3: and the Mendalorian and Grogoon never had to be. But
- 16:11Speaker 3: in the words of Yoda, it chooses do not instead
- 16:13Speaker 3: of do it doesn't even try.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Oh okay, yeah, So like that's like a backhanded comment,
- 16:22Speaker 2: like it's it's like like it it like a backhanded compliment,
- 16:27Speaker 2: like what what do they call it? The compliment sandwich
- 16:30Speaker 2: where it's like, oh, we'll give you something nice and
- 16:33Speaker 2: then we'll like just throw something in your face and
- 16:35Speaker 2: then we'll say something nice to you again. I the
- 16:41Speaker 2: way that I feel going into this, I think that
- 16:45Speaker 2: there is a lot of fun characters that we are
- 16:49Speaker 2: going to see. The way that we reviewed season three, yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 2: just this past week when doing our retro, we had
- 17:03Speaker 2: opposite opinions about the kind of the exactly the comedic
- 17:15Speaker 2: direction that season three took, and so I think we
- 17:24Speaker 2: could see a little bit more of that, which I
- 17:26Speaker 2: am not hugely looking forward to. But again I am
- 17:32Speaker 2: looking for how are you moving the story forward? That's
- 17:35Speaker 2: mainly what I'm looking at. And so when it comes
- 17:39Speaker 2: to the characters of Mandalorian Grogu, I need to see
- 17:45Speaker 2: Grogu develop more. And again that doesn't mean he needs
- 17:52Speaker 2: to talk. It literally just means develop character wise, whether
- 17:58Speaker 2: that mean he be a little bit more independent, whether
- 18:02Speaker 2: that be uh, they become an a legitimate a legitimate
- 18:06Speaker 2: team where you see them do a lot more together
- 18:10Speaker 2: and things like that. So that's where I kind of
- 18:14Speaker 2: sit with, like where my expectations are for how this
- 18:19Speaker 2: moves the story of Star Wars towards where we will
- 18:24Speaker 2: eventually be in the Force Awakens, right.
- 18:27Speaker 3: And I think that makes sense, Like we do want
- 18:31Speaker 3: to see crow Goo grow as a character in this
- 18:35Speaker 3: and progress in a way that makes him feel a
- 18:38Speaker 3: little bit more independent because you and that was like
- 18:41Speaker 3: the whole goal right at the end of season three,
- 18:43Speaker 3: it was like Dinn was like, Okay, we have to
- 18:47Speaker 3: proceed forward, Like we can't just keep going on the run.
- 18:51Speaker 3: We can't run away. We have to face our problems.
- 18:54Speaker 3: And is that a cheesy like trope, like, oh, we
- 18:58Speaker 3: we have to face the problem. Yes, But in this case,
- 19:03Speaker 3: if it's the story vibe, so I am perfectly fine.
- 19:08Speaker 3: If this is a family fun adventure that's supposed to
- 19:11Speaker 3: be reminiscent of a Saturday morning cartoon or something, and
- 19:15Speaker 3: that's fully what I'm going into this expecting it to be.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I'm not expecting super deep plot, but like fun family
- 19:25Speaker 3: adventure is the vibe I'm looking for. We gotta meet that.
- 19:30Speaker 2: You need to remember, I was first in line for
- 19:33Speaker 2: Dave Filoni's Clone Wars movie back in freaking what twenty
- 19:40Speaker 2: twenty twenty twelve and eight? Was it two thousand and eight?
- 19:45Speaker 2: Holy cow? Okay, yeah, two thousand and eight, Like I
- 19:48Speaker 2: was first one in line, so like, I'm going to
- 19:53Speaker 2: be here for this. And also I said the Force Awakens,
- 19:58Speaker 2: I probably should back to just a little bit because
- 20:01Speaker 2: we know that the Mando verse in the way this
- 20:05Speaker 2: was kind of set up was to possibly set us
- 20:08Speaker 2: up for Ahsoka season two. So those are some of
- 20:12Speaker 2: the key things that I will be looking for as well,
- 20:16Speaker 2: like if there's anything there to set that up.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Yeah, And I'm not even necessarily looking for like that,
- 20:26Speaker 3: Like I'm thinking I'm going into this like this the
- 20:30Speaker 3: one off. Like I know people are like, oh, is
- 20:32Speaker 3: this gonna span like a new trilogy. I'm not going
- 20:36Speaker 3: into that with that expectation. I am like fully in
- 20:39Speaker 3: the zone of the Mandalorian crew. Gu a Star Wars
- 20:43Speaker 3: story like comes to the big screen. Sure, Yeah, Like
- 20:49Speaker 3: that's the vibe I'm looking for, is.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Well, let's go ahead in and jump into because we
- 20:55Speaker 2: are going, of course, to try to make this a
- 20:57Speaker 2: short episodes already at twenty minutes. Let's go ahead and
- 21:01Speaker 2: jump into that topic. Of course.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Well, can we hit box office first? Box Office?
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we we haven't really talked about that, and on
- 21:11Speaker 2: we did tell a lot of people that we would
- 21:14Speaker 2: talk about this on this episode. So box office, let's
- 21:20Speaker 2: go ahead and talk about it. What do you want
- 21:21Speaker 2: to talk about?
- 21:22Speaker 3: Okay, So I've got I've got it's the Hollywood Reporters
- 21:30Speaker 3: article on the box office predictions. Because I don't know
- 21:35Speaker 3: where to look these numbers up now that I'm not
- 21:37Speaker 3: on Twitter, so I needed an article to kind of
- 21:40Speaker 3: tell me. So they've got the tracking services say Mandoin
- 21:46Speaker 3: Grogu should open directly eighty two million at the domestic
- 21:51Speaker 3: box office for the four days, which I believe our Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday,
- 21:56Speaker 3: with some exhibitors see it coming in as high as
- 22:00Speaker 3: ninety five to one hundred million dollars.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Yes, that's what I have as well.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Okay, they're predicting. Disney insiders expect that Mandoin Groogo will
- 22:13Speaker 3: earn at least one hundred and sixty million globally.
- 22:17Speaker 2: For the weekend.
- 22:22Speaker 3: It just says it's just as globally, So.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I would assume so because one hundred and sixties So
- 22:33Speaker 2: they're they're expecting that everywhere else be basically on par
- 22:42Speaker 2: with just America.
- 22:44Speaker 3: See, I I don't think that's accurate because, like I
- 22:49Speaker 3: think that means like at least one hundred and sixty million,
- 22:53Speaker 3: like during the box office run. Because this next quote says,
- 22:56Speaker 3: word of mouth across social media is the key critics
- 22:59Speaker 3: have become large irrelevant to performance. So a top Hollywood
- 23:03Speaker 3: financier who still believes Mando has a shot at scoring
- 23:08Speaker 3: as much as one hundred and five million for the
- 23:10Speaker 3: four day weekend in North America and another eighty five
- 23:13Speaker 3: million overseas, that sounds bock number. I would say one
- 23:19Speaker 3: hundred and sixty million in its box office run.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Okay, okay, oh hold on, hold see but you say
- 23:31Speaker 2: in his box office run, I feel like that's theatrical run.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I guess that's the difference box office run and theatrical run.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Because if you're saying one hundred and eighty five for
- 23:42Speaker 2: its box office run, that makes me think like it's
- 23:47Speaker 2: only making one hundred and eighty five dollars one hundred
- 23:49Speaker 2: and eighty five million dollars. But you're talking about opening
- 23:52Speaker 2: weekend box office.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Yeah, one hundred five million in North America and eighty
- 23:57Speaker 3: five million overseas for a four day weekend.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah okay, okay, that makes me make.
- 24:04Speaker 3: One hundred and sixty million globally means box office run.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Yes, I I can agree with that. We have like honestly,
- 24:21Speaker 2: and again this may be just my disassociation with like
- 24:26Speaker 2: social media as a whole lately, but like I feel
- 24:31Speaker 2: like people do not talk about pop culture movies as
- 24:41Speaker 2: much anymore. Yeah, it's it's not like a big bombastic
- 24:46Speaker 2: thing anymore. Now, again, that may be my corner of
- 24:51Speaker 2: the internet because of course, algorithms and everything else is
- 24:54Speaker 2: just the way it works. I like when it comes
- 24:59Speaker 2: to things like Venom, Like I remember hearing all about
- 25:03Speaker 2: how other countries just love the crap out of Venom, right,
- 25:09Speaker 2: and the same thing went for oh what was it
- 25:15Speaker 2: back a couple of years ago, like, uh, the Incredibles too,
- 25:20Speaker 2: and like all of these things, Like I remember like
- 25:24Speaker 2: hearing about the hype in other countries for these types
- 25:28Speaker 2: of movies. I don't hear that much about bigger pop
- 25:33Speaker 2: culture movies anymore. Yeah, I did see a really cool
- 25:40Speaker 2: poster I think for either Japan or China. I can't
- 25:45Speaker 2: remember which one it was of the huts, and it
- 25:49Speaker 2: looked really dope, And I hope we get that poster
- 25:55Speaker 2: here or even so I might just like scan it
- 25:58Speaker 2: and see if I can't printed out. But still, like
- 26:04Speaker 2: I I do think that it has if if it's
- 26:10Speaker 2: already saying like, hey, we could see one hundred and
- 26:13Speaker 2: eighty million globally, I'm gonna go ahead and say we
- 26:20Speaker 2: could probably see two hundred. Probably it's it's not in
- 26:28Speaker 2: the realm of impossible, But I do believe that the
- 26:37Speaker 2: eighty five to one hundred in the US, I think
- 26:44Speaker 2: that is probably on par see.
- 26:47Speaker 3: I'm thinking probably like eighty to ninety is what I'm thinking.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I know with like and I haven't looked at box
- 26:54Speaker 3: office predictions recently, but I feel like from what I remember,
- 26:58Speaker 3: box office predictions would always come in a little bit
- 27:02Speaker 3: higher than they actually were. Something in eighty two, Like,
- 27:05Speaker 3: I feel like eighty to ninety, maybe seventy five to ninety.
- 27:09Speaker 3: I still feel like seventy five is a great number
- 27:12Speaker 3: for right now. I think people don't get that because.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I actually thereators seventy five feels a little small.
- 27:21Speaker 3: You think seventy five is a little small.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Feels a little small, but silly because if you said
- 27:27Speaker 2: seventy eight, I feel like, hey, that would be okay,
- 27:30Speaker 2: you know, just three million more.
- 27:33Speaker 3: See I'm a five, five and zero number person. I
- 27:38Speaker 3: always like that makes sun of me because I will
- 27:41Speaker 3: turn the temperature dial to seventy or seventy five. There
- 27:45Speaker 3: is no in between.
- 27:53Speaker 2: I genuinely think that either way, whether it does make
- 28:00Speaker 2: seventy five, if it does make one hundred, I think
- 28:04Speaker 2: overall this movie will be a technical success, whether that
- 28:12Speaker 2: be from the money that it makes or the word
- 28:20Speaker 2: amount that it gets. Like regardless now, whether the suits
- 28:27Speaker 2: find that to be a success or not, that'll be
- 28:32Speaker 2: up in the air. We'll really see how it goes
- 28:35Speaker 2: after that Monday, I think. More so we will probably
- 28:40Speaker 2: see either on Thursday of or I would say either
- 28:46Speaker 2: Wednesday of next week or Friday of next week, we
- 28:51Speaker 2: will start to hear the like, oh, this movie is
- 28:56Speaker 2: definitely in trouble type of reports, which I mean those
- 29:02Speaker 2: can be a little eye rolling, but that's when we
- 29:05Speaker 2: will probably start to hear the rumblings of like, hey,
- 29:08Speaker 2: this is probably what the suits think, you know, type
- 29:11Speaker 2: of thing. So we'll see, we're gonna we're gonna go
- 29:23Speaker 2: over thirty. I know we are.
- 29:25Speaker 3: It's gonna be It's gonna be fine. It's gonna be fine.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Okay, So theories and predictions, Katie, do you have, like
- 29:34Speaker 2: I'll leave I'll leave it open ended. So, even if
- 29:37Speaker 2: this doesn't need to be a huge conversation, do you
- 29:42Speaker 2: have any big theories or any big predictions for the
- 29:48Speaker 2: Mandalorian grogu.
- 29:51Speaker 3: I think we talked about this last week, but I
- 29:53Speaker 3: feel like, and I agree with you on this. I
- 29:56Speaker 3: think we're definitely gonna get a post credit. I feel
- 30:02Speaker 3: like we need to be family friendly, action adventure one shot.
- 30:09Speaker 3: I need Star Wars story vibes. We don't care about
- 30:14Speaker 3: a sequel in this case. We just want to have fun.
- 30:17Speaker 3: We want to bring Star Wars back to movie theaters
- 30:20Speaker 3: just for the fudzies of it. Like, that's all I
- 30:22Speaker 3: need is the end of the day. Obviously, we've already
- 30:28Speaker 3: seen Patro Pascal without his helmet. I have question for you,
- 30:33Speaker 3: do you think we get another Order sixty six flashback?
- 30:38Speaker 2: So it was kind of gonna be my question more
- 30:41Speaker 2: so because well, because the thing is, and we talked
- 30:44Speaker 2: about this in our Mandalorian season one review that like, oh,
- 30:49Speaker 2: everybody calls this the show with no like this was
- 30:54Speaker 2: one of the like, oh, you can do Star Wars
- 30:57Speaker 2: without lightsabers, but of course there was the dark Saber.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Dark Stabor is technically a lightsaber, and I was gonna ask,
- 31:04Speaker 2: do you think we have any lightsabers in this? And
- 31:09Speaker 2: I didn't really think about Order sixty six. I think, well, again,
- 31:17Speaker 2: just like how we talked in our retro for season three,
- 31:22Speaker 2: I think we need to see more about what happens
- 31:27Speaker 2: after Beck helps Rogu, whether that be in what we
- 31:32Speaker 2: talked about, maybe a comic book series, or you know,
- 31:35Speaker 2: maybe they throw it in as like some sort of
- 31:38Speaker 2: small cut scene in a video game or like something.
- 31:41Speaker 2: We need something to cut that that little tiny you know,
- 31:47Speaker 2: I say tiny, but you know those years of time
- 31:52Speaker 2: between Order sixty six and that very first episode of
- 31:56Speaker 2: Mandalorian see.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Because I think that's like one of the big things
- 32:00Speaker 3: that Grogu needs to explore, is like how he got
- 32:03Speaker 3: caught by the Empire, Like I don't necessarily need to
- 32:07Speaker 3: see like, oh, that got Grogu to Naboo kind of thing,
- 32:11Speaker 3: Like I want to see how he comes to term.
- 32:17Speaker 3: I need him to come to terms with Hey, I
- 32:19Speaker 3: got got but it wasn't the end of the world.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Basically, yes, I do think that, like, in order to
- 32:27Speaker 2: get past this trauma. And I'm not saying every Jedi
- 32:33Speaker 2: does get past the trauma, but they learned how to
- 32:37Speaker 2: cope with it in a different way. And we've seen
- 32:41Speaker 2: plenty of Jedi survivors do this in real time sometimes,
- 32:46Speaker 2: whether it be in a comic, whether it be of
- 32:47Speaker 2: course uh with cal Cassis in a video game, and
- 32:50Speaker 2: all these other things. We need that for Grogu, And
- 32:55Speaker 2: a lot of people are like, why would you need
- 32:57Speaker 2: that for Grogu. He's a childhood He's fifty years old, Okay,
- 33:03Speaker 2: he's not a child. I do think that if we
- 33:11Speaker 2: are ever going to separate Grogu, and I don't even
- 33:18Speaker 2: know if people want to separate Grogu, but if people
- 33:21Speaker 2: if because this is the way that I see Grogu.
- 33:25Speaker 2: I don't see Grogu as crazy as it sounds, as
- 33:29Speaker 2: a Jedi. I don't see Grogu as this like identity
- 33:36Speaker 2: with the Jedi Order and Order sixty six and everything else.
- 33:39Speaker 2: I see him as a partner of the Mandalorian Yeah,
- 33:44Speaker 2: and if he himself, if Filoni and lucasfilm wants to
- 33:49Speaker 2: show us how he gets away from what he had
- 33:52Speaker 2: in the past to just being with Mando, he needs
- 33:56Speaker 2: to jump over this hoop of that trauma. And I
- 34:00Speaker 2: do think we do need to see some sort of
- 34:03Speaker 2: either flashback or if we don't get a flashback, maybe
- 34:07Speaker 2: we have somebody talk about it.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Yeah, And I know, like we already said guys like, oh,
- 34:14Speaker 3: family friendly doesn't have to be deep lat but I
- 34:17Speaker 3: also do think it for grog Whu's growth. I think
- 34:21Speaker 3: that's like the final step for him to move forward,
- 34:25Speaker 3: and his story is dealing with that aspect of hey,
- 34:32Speaker 3: I got got yep. So that's my thought there. I
- 34:38Speaker 3: don't know if we'll see lightsabers. My thought would have
- 34:42Speaker 3: been dark saber like maybe like both talks about, oh,
- 34:45Speaker 3: I'm trying to repair it or something, because like we
- 34:49Speaker 3: all know how Mandalorians can't let go of anything like yeah,
- 34:53Speaker 3: so I feel like they're going to try to get
- 34:57Speaker 3: it repaired.
- 34:59Speaker 2: So so I think there is a possibility. So here's
- 35:08Speaker 2: here's the other question, because here's would you count the
- 35:12Speaker 2: post credit as part of part of the movie always okay?
- 35:18Speaker 2: If that case, I do think we're going to see lightsabers.
- 35:21Speaker 3: So you think we might see like Ahsoka.
- 35:24Speaker 2: I think there's a I think there's a possibility to
- 35:29Speaker 2: see Ahsoka. Now again, they're stuck in another universe.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Would you say Ahsoka or would you say Ezra and Haarrah?
- 35:39Speaker 3: And the whole tie in is going to.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Be Yes, I think that there is a better possibility
- 35:48Speaker 2: now that you've said it, Yes, I do think there
- 35:50Speaker 2: is a better possibility of seeing Ezra. And if we
- 35:53Speaker 2: see Ezra, there's most likely we're going to see his lightsaber.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say it we see Harrah. If that
- 36:02Speaker 3: is the case with the post credit, you have to
- 36:04Speaker 3: see Harah because you need the New Republic pie in. Yeah,
- 36:08Speaker 3: because his whole point right now with the missions is
- 36:11Speaker 3: that he's doing missions for the New Republic on the side.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Here is the person to know he's doing this on
- 36:17Speaker 3: the side. What's he doing?
- 36:20Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I agree, I think that I think that
- 36:24Speaker 2: is the only way we see a lightsaber, now that
- 36:28Speaker 2: you've said that, because I was like, oh, well, do
- 36:30Speaker 2: you think that they would actually like be like post
- 36:33Speaker 2: credit scene and then like ah, Soka feel you know,
- 36:38Speaker 2: force wise outside of the universe. I don't think or
- 36:42Speaker 2: another galaxy, not universe. Sorry, I don't think they would
- 36:47Speaker 2: go that far. But Ezra for sure. Lucasfilm, Lucasfilm. I
- 36:56Speaker 2: was gonna look at this looking at you, Lucasfilm. To God,
- 37:00Speaker 2: this movie doesn't need Luke Skywalker. You got it.
- 37:04Speaker 3: No, it doesn't.
- 37:05Speaker 2: It does not leak. I don't need to see Luke Skywalker.
- 37:08Speaker 2: I don't need to see Han Solo. I don't need
- 37:10Speaker 2: to see Princess Leah. I don't need to see Chewbacca.
- 37:14Speaker 2: I don't need to see any of them.
- 37:17Speaker 3: I had the most hysterical thought. Thank you us. This
- 37:23Speaker 3: is totally unrelated to the original trilogy people, by the way,
- 37:26Speaker 3: I do apologize, but I just this is so funny.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Roda is job of the huts.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Baby, Okay, you.
- 37:37Speaker 3: See Ezra come down the arena steps and go down again.
- 37:46Speaker 3: It's not gonna happen.
- 37:48Speaker 2: But I actually, actually I would love a callback if
- 37:54Speaker 2: in this conversation of the Huts and they're like and
- 37:58Speaker 2: somebody is looking up Java and a picture of Ezra
- 38:02Speaker 2: Ezra's face comes up. I think that that would be hilarious.
- 38:08Speaker 2: That would be an amazing callback.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Actually, I think that would sneaky Easter egg Like.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that would be what. It would be hilarious,
- 38:17Speaker 2: more so because there's gonna be people who have never
- 38:20Speaker 2: seen Rebels before watching this movie that have watched the
- 38:24Speaker 2: original trilogy and they're like, who.
- 38:27Speaker 3: The hell is that?
- 38:29Speaker 2: That would be hilarious? Actually, that would actually be hilarious. Well, yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 2: well you just brought up Easter eggs. Do you think
- 38:39Speaker 2: we're gonna see a lot of them? Do you think
- 38:40Speaker 2: that we will see? I would say like even in
- 38:52Speaker 2: recent movies, as of course the sequel trilogy, there wasn't
- 38:58Speaker 2: a whole lot of Easter eggs.
- 39:00Speaker 3: But I feel like more of the Easter eggs with
- 39:03Speaker 3: Star Wars have been offshoot stories. Yeah, like they're not
- 39:08Speaker 3: necessarily like and Or had a lot of Easter eggs.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, that's true.
- 39:14Speaker 3: I like that. Yeah, So I feel like there's more
- 39:18Speaker 3: potential for that here versus the sequel trilogy.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Oh gosh, are we gonna see and doors Child in
- 39:29Speaker 2: this movie?
- 39:30Speaker 3: I hope not.
- 39:33Speaker 2: I opened that can of worms. Please Lucas soon, don't
- 39:36Speaker 2: do this to me. But yeah, that's that's really all
- 39:42Speaker 2: I have.
- 39:44Speaker 3: I think that's about all I had too, And I
- 39:46Speaker 3: could feel my voice slipping more and more, so.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, that's totally fine. We we talked about box office,
- 39:55Speaker 2: talked about theories, we talked about tomato meters and all
- 39:58Speaker 2: of that jazz. Of course, guys, we will be back

- 41:21Speaker 3: Before I share that, Kevin popped into the chat, he said,
- 41:24Speaker 3: Star Wars is for kids. Everything doesn't need to be
- 41:27Speaker 3: serious to make a profit at the box office.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Yes, yes, always remember, yes, always remember Freddy Prince Junior
- 41:37Speaker 2: in his giant Star Wars rants, Star Wars is for
- 41:42Speaker 2: kids and I to stay family friendly. I can't say
- 41:46Speaker 2: the rest of that quote, but it's it's an amazing quote.
- 41:50Speaker 2: If you haven't heard it, just look up Fredy Prince
- 41:54Speaker 2: Junior Star Wars rant. It's beautiful.
