Transcript
- Chesla Wechsler: This is the episode that I've been asked for the most. Judy the newbie coming back for season 10. I feel as if we ought to have some sort of a graduation ceremony as Judy will now be a know it all. So welcome back to Podcast Portwenn Judy: Hello, thank you for having me. Chesla Wechsler: You know you're welcome anytime. We'll have to transition you to some new role now if you're interested. All So you have, you've had season 10 and the Last Christmas in Portwenn, I presume, under your belt for a while now, maybe a month or so? Judy: Okay. Yes. I'd say so, yeah, yeah. And then life got a little crazy, so couldn't get together, but ⁓ we are. Chesla Wechsler: Here we are, which is good. So where have we left our heroes? Judy: So Al and Morwenna get married. Martin one of his tests to ⁓ perhaps get his, back to practicing medicine was a surgery had to assist on where the doctor had macular degeneration and he kind of took over and the doctor kind of wanted him to overlook ⁓ ailment and he would overlook Martin's blood phobia and Martin ⁓ instead chooses to resign. ⁓ No jumping through for him. Yeah. And then we find that at that same time, Louisa tells him she's pregnant. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Correct. Yep. Yes, that's right, that's right. Judy: Yeah. Yeah. And we come, we start season 10 with Martin not working, which, you ⁓ was a I think, for him. And Louisa was, now have they, Louisa and Martin now have a baby girl. And ⁓ Louisa is her and ⁓ Martin is the Mom. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. And when you think about it, mean, so she finds out that she's pregnant. what is she maybe six weeks along, but Mary's maybe two or three months old. So Martin's been out of work for a bit. Judy: I think it says he hadn't been working for a year. So, yeah, I'm surprised he wasn't jumping out of his skin a little bit more than the episode led on, but clearly he missed the patient interaction and doing what he does best. And I never... Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yes. Although he fixed many, many, many, many clocks. Judy: Yes, he worked on that. I think the whole community missed him. And I guess now Morwenna, because the surgery is closed, is now working as a real estate agent. Al's, is it this point? Yeah, his food truck business is doing well. And Caitlin and Bert get into a riff and she throws him out. What else? Chesla Wechsler: Got Joe and Janice. Judy: Yeah, so Joe and Janice are kind of a thing now. Chesla Wechsler: Well, Joe is certainly mooning over Janice at the beginning. Judy: Yes, yes, I don't know that that she was as, as on board as he was ⁓ initially. ⁓ then see, Mrs. Tishell, I'm trying to remember. She's just, ⁓ you know, trying to get doctor to, having petitions signed and, you know, yes. ⁓ And, and like, Ooh, maybe if has a real emergency, he'll want to, he'll realize how much he misses it. So she staples herself. Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Yeah. haha Yes. Multiple times. Judy: she's. I always said she was nutty from the beginning. Chesla Wechsler: Yep, yep. She does a great job being crazy. Yeah. Judy: ⁓ she does. Yes, she does. And then, Martin, Chris tells him, know, you got to admit that you were wrong and say you're sorry. And ⁓ he actually does. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, you have to grovel, Martin. Judy: Yeah, yeah, which not really his thing. Although I do feel like this season, a lot of things that he wouldn't normally do, he started to do. You know, a little bit more empathy, a little bit more concern for other people's feelings. And I think by little that started to show. And his willingness to admit he was wrong and... that he needed help in trying to get his way back to getting his license renewed or reinstated, I guess. You know, that was a vulnerability that he opened himself up to. And definitely feel like we've seen a softening of Martin, you know. Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Yeah. And his willingness to down his dream job because ⁓ didn't want to pull Louisa out of Portwenn or take the children out of their house. Judy: Yeah, I thought that was, you know, both of them were really being willing to sacrifice and not be ⁓ She telling him, let's do it, let's go to London for this, job he was offered. Yeah, so it was, thought that was very, sweet that was like, follow your dreams. Let's do it. and she was trying to be so positive and you could tell she would longingly look over the sea and, and, I thought it was very emotional when she read. ⁓ her friend from work shared with her, the letter she wrote to her adult self when she was 10 years old. That's very sweet. ⁓ Yeah, very moving. Yeah, I got up for sure. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: Yes, yeah. Yes. This was always the plan. Yeah, yeah, you're gonna marry a doctor, have two children and a dog. Judy: Yep. I'm trying to think at what moment was it when Martin ⁓ Almost froze. No, no, no, no, no. It was when Martin. was either they were driving to the hospital or from the hospital when he cut his arm on the barbed wire. Chesla Wechsler: ⁓ was, that was, yeah, that's episode eight of this season. yeah, so a lot, a lot led up to that. That was, I mean, we have a lot of stuff that came before that, right? We've got the whole process of him groveling to Professor Langan and Mrs. Tishell showing up and eating his keys. Judy: Yeah, I think that was... Yeah. Yeah. Mrs. Tishell coming out of the bushes, yeah, ⁓ his keys. my God. Chesla Wechsler: I thought that was great because Martin's basically like, you can have Joe arrest me or you can reinstate my license because have a duty of care. Judy: Mm-hmm. Yes, yes, and town needs him. I guess they couldn't get another doctor to work in a rural area to fill his, ⁓ yes, yeah. Chesla Wechsler: You know. Yeah, yeah, the office was gonna have to close if he left, you figure he's been gone, he was gone for a year. So they didn't have anybody presumably and they were going to Wadebridge for that time. ⁓ And when he came back, ⁓ Chris to really go through hoops in order to get that to be reinstated. then when Martin, poor Chris, Chris was pissed. ⁓ Judy: Yep. Yep. Yeah, he was. took the academic job. Yeah, and he's like, are you kidding me? Chesla Wechsler: when he decides to leave again. Yeah, what I've done for you, I mean, you've got the emotional awareness of a breadstick or something like that, he says. love Chris Parsons, he really is one of my favorite recurring characters. Judy: Yeah, he's pretty good. And he's a good friend to Martin, despite all of it. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. And Martin never thanks him. Ever. So, yeah. Judy: No, no. But so Chris, you know, jumps through Hoops, Martin gets reinstated. Chesla Wechsler: He has his blood phobia and it's bad. Judy: Yeah, yeah, it's bad. love how... Chesla Wechsler: Aunt Ruth. Judy: Aunt Ruth is trying to help him. like, there isn't going to be a in my briefcases. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, I was trying to remember that exact line and I don't remember it, but was it like something like a pancreas in my sock drawer? Judy: I don't know. But then when he was packing to go to London, he's like, there isn't going to be a spleen in my suitcase or something like that. Chesla Wechsler: Yes, yes, yes. I love Aunt Ruth. I was so glad that, she was still vibrant and, And we get to see, we get to see Stewart again, the forest ranger. He goes off the rails. Judy: She's, ⁓ Yep. Yes. Yes. You know, again, it's, it's, there's a bunch of kind of crazy people, but they're not. I don't know, they're not annoying crazy. They're just kind of quirky crazy, you know, but not... only ones that are a little annoying is the teenage girls who always are just so mean. Yeah, ⁓ can't walk by without saying something, ⁓ ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, yeah, the Greek chorus. We always them the Greek chorus. Yep, yep, but it's generally a pertinent thing, you know? It sort of does instruct add to whatever's going on. You you kind of get a sense for they just summarized whatever it is he just did. Judy: ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: And we've got ⁓ the herbalist who doesn't believe in vaccines and... There's sort of a theme and I didn't realize this until I was talking with Pauline about Last Christmas in Portwenn. And she did point out that ⁓ a number of like sort of safety, health and safety things that get distributed throughout right? You've got making sure your child has a car seat and making sure that you're vaccinated and all the health, know, diet things. Judy: Yeah. Well, and then one of the ⁓ he tells, he asked how long the food was sitting out and she should have a hair net. and they make mention, ⁓ well, they make of in the Christmas episode, the, the turkey, the live turkey being near the food and, the ⁓ lanterns being kind of. Chesla Wechsler: Yes. Judy: concern of a fire hazard, which as we know. Yeah, yeah. And I swear it's because he's like, you're not suggesting lighting that lantern for my mother. she's like, no, it's for you. And of course, that's the one that up in smoke. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: Right. Yes, yeah, we know how that turned out. Mm-hmm. Right, right, but I still think of that as as Margaret's, like it's for you to let go of Margaret. Yeah, but then Margaret, in my mind, it's Margaret who sort of circles back. Judy: ⁓ yeah. Yes, yeah. ⁓ and when she, when he thought he was having a hallucination due to the hypothermia and it was her. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: Is Claire Bloom not amazing? Judy: Oh, she just plays a nasty, nasty, character. Chesla Wechsler: And she's such a good actress. I mean, I've seen her in other parts. I watched Through the Shadowlands, which is... Have you ever seen Shadowlands with Anthony Hopkins? It's a great movie. I love that movie. It's about the life of C.S. Lewis and his relationship with the woman that he married. But she's in an earlier version of it, Claire Bloom is, and she plays the Joy Grisham part. but wow, plays an American with a perfect American accent, and she's wonderful and lovely and all this stuff, and ⁓ yeah, and then she's this evil Margaret Ellingham. Judy: Yeah, and evil with like a smile on her face too, you know, just. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, she vindictive, malignant, you know, like when she, ⁓ man, we'll get to that episode. That is actually one of my favorite episodes on the whole series, which is a nice way to end things, you know? ⁓ What other good things? We've got ⁓ Bert trying to run the caravan park. Judy: I always. it was. again, he's back to his, Keystone whatever could go wrong would go wrong for him. ⁓ You I, yeah. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: Yep. And it's his own dereliction that ends up screwing him with that camper van because if he had gotten everything fixed, the guy would have, yeah, they probably could have evicted the guy, you know. Bert. What did you, go ahead. Judy: Yes. And it was funny, at one point, Caitlin's, the bar basement was flooding and it was as a result of his still being tapped into the pipes and then not being fixed properly and he leaves. Chesla Wechsler: Yes. Yeah. Yep. But it is nice that he does actually say, it was probably somebody who had an illegal still, right? So he does admit culpability. And name of the plumber there is Bob Jackson. And I don't know if I've mentioned this to you before, but the names of both Ellingham children, Bob Jackson and Arthur Collins, Judy: Yes. Chesla Wechsler: are all names of the Clunes's dogs. Judy: Oh really? Chesla Wechsler: Yes, so they instead of like they named their dogs after the characters in the TV show they produced, they actually named the children in the TV show that they produced after their dogs. So they had a Bob Jackson and Arthur Collin was one of their dogs, so they made him Arthur Collins at the end. Judy: Okay, and then it's Mary Elizabeth. Chesla Wechsler: Yep, and James Henry, and that's actually the names of their dogs. Judy: I never thought to give my dogs a middle name, but I like that. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, yeah. I had a gerbil named Cary Grant. Yeah, and I called him Ceeg, CG. But his full name was Cary Grant. Judy: ⁓ that's funny. yeah. okay, I'm trying to, so let's, so there were only. Chesla Wechsler: So we got, Judy: Were there only eight episodes? Or eight Chesla Wechsler: there were eight and then ninth one was the Last Christmas. sort of, guess the pivotal in season 10 is when Sophie, who is Martin's old flame, shows up, right? Judy: yes, yes, yes. And ⁓ invites to present a paper, I guess, event in ⁓ London. she is coming on to him or reading the signals wrong or what have you, also from, was it? diabetic and insulin deficiency or something. Chesla Wechsler: It's a Yes, she had something going on and she certainly was diabetic and wasn't taking her insulin, but it almost seemed like she had something else and I don't remember what it was. Judy: Yeah. And, um, and also quite a bit of jealousy, of the success that Martin has had versus her own, which is, it's kind of interesting because so many people, I actually was feeling bad for him for where everyone would say, you're a GP in this rural. What a waste. What a waste. Oh, this is a wasted talent. Oh, you know, and it's no wonder he Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Judy: felt like he was less than his potential. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Well, certainly, you know, when he was a London surgeon, he was the top, like the top of his field. And then I'm sure he even had it in his head that a GP was just like, it's all he could do. Like it was like the bottom of the barrel, but then he became the top GP basically. Yeah. Judy: Mm-hmm. Yeah. beneath. Yes, yes, that the entire community really, really, really, relied on or relies on. ⁓ And, yet I, everybody he talk to back from, his old days or, that I guess were London based just kept saying, what a shame, what a waste of a talent, and so when ⁓ approached about this position, this academic position, which seemed Perfect, right? Although he did say he would still do some, clinical day, but maybe wouldn't be an issue with the blood phobia, cause he'd be more instructional as opposed to, you know, right in the, the, the nitty gritty of it all. And yeah, it like now his career was back up again, back on the ⁓ And It's such a shame because he really was or is instrumental in the community in Portwenn and, I'm glad that he finally kind of came to the realization that, he's serving a great purpose where he is. Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, yeah. And Ruth, I think, helps him with that because not only does she try to get him over the blood phobia, but she, I think she really kind of says, you won't be practicing and I think that's a shame. You know, because he's wasted if he's not practicing medicine. You know. Yeah. Judy: Yes. And she's really the only person who said that. Like everybody else was saying, you're being wasted as a GP. And so it was... Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Louisa defends him too, which is good. And I did notice that when he was walking around that conference center, before they even offered him the job, he had some serious swagger, I think, going on. I think he felt good being back in that environment and being the keynote speaker. So it was almost like, you yeah, I fell to the quote unquote bottom of the medical ladder, but you've asked me to be the keynote speaker. Judy: And I think that's why Sophie was so, taken aback by, he being the one asked to speak and, but, it kind of comes out casually that he modified an invention to make it even better. And that's a big thing to do, which. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. that's why they recruited him. Like, I guess that's something he did when he was not working. He invented the Ellingham Cup. And it sounds like that was something he figured was necessary for ⁓ what was it, geriatric mothers. ⁓ ⁓ Louisa had no idea she was the cervix. ⁓ Judy: Yes. Geriatric mothers, yes. She was the geriatric mother, yeah. Chesla Wechsler: That was a funny discovery to have made when you're just about to have your slides presented. Judy: Yes, yes, was pretty funny. She handled it well. Chesla Wechsler: Yes. It took me the longest time to figure out, know, Martin gets head-butted on the plane. And he's got this, black eye, and it's like, they're making all this fuss about this whole thing, and why the heck does that need to happen? And, the show so good. Like, I always say that Doc Martin feels like a ⁓ documentary to me, because these like you said, they're quirky, but they're real. Judy: Mm-hmm. Chesla Wechsler: So they just feel like real people. So when something like that happens, I don't necessarily think, oh, the plot needs to use this. I just think, well, he helped this woman by smacking her and getting the food out of her throat. But then you realize that he needs that bruise later because that's what Sophie starts looking at. She's looking at his eye. And she grabs his face and he grabs her because he sees there's something wrong with her and that's when she misinterprets and tries to kiss him. Judy: Yeah, right, right. Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: So it's like a slow burn of a plot arc. Judy: Yeah, for sure. Let's see, so I'm trying to think after that he. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: Well, before we move on with Sophie, this is one thing I like to ask people. I feel like he treats Sophie with more tenderness than anyone in the whole series. Judy: Hmm. Chesla Wechsler: His voice is just like Sophie, you have to take better care of yourself. got sense that ⁓ like and he were, he was gonna marry Edith, but you never got any sense of tenderness with those two. They were just sort of like equal intellectuals. Whereas he and Sophie, looks like there was a real fondness there. Judy: Right. Yes. Well, she did say he wrote her poetry, which wouldn't expect coming from Martin, right? Chesla Wechsler: Didn't he write that for Edith or did he write it for Sophie? I forget. Okay, so maybe both, who knows. Judy: Rupfi mentions the poetry in this. Yeah. You know, I didn't really pick up him seeming more tender towards her. I didn't really pick up on that. as you're saying it, I'm just thinking of the Sophie character and how she, said she was broken hearted and, and. you know, maybe the reason their relationship didn't work is that she was a lot more emotional And he knows that she's she has a tendency to be more vulnerable and fragile. Chesla Wechsler: which is not something he could really deal with probably. Yeah. Judy: Yeah, yeah. Chesla Wechsler: Cool. Judy: Louisa is kind of tough, I think, and very, very logical. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. She's emotional, but she's, like you say, she's tough. Judy: Yeah, yeah, and not illogical in her thinking, ⁓ know, whereas Sophie, again, that's why their relationship didn't work out because she was a bit more emotional. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, could be. Because there was never any, there wasn't an engagement with them. mean, Edith, he had an engagement, supposedly. He wanted to marry her. Judy: Yeah. Yeah. And then fast forward towards the end when Ruth says she doesn't think he had a blood phobia at all, but an emotional phobia. maybe, I'm just doing, making a here, but maybe that's why they didn't work out because she was too emotional for him. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: Yes. Yeah, maybe. And I thought it was hilarious that here's Martin. He does this whole paper Louisa's cervix that he's gonna present at a conference. And he finds out ⁓ gonna write a book on ⁓ And he's like, you can't do that. ⁓ Judy: I think that's been talked about plenty. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, yeah. It's like, you can't write a book about me? Like, karma, instant karma. I loved it. I thought it was nice. Last episode of season 10 before Christmas in Portwenn, you've got the whole, we're taking this job, we're moving to London, I'm selling my clocks, although he can't, because he can't part with them. And Chicken is lost. Judy: Right. Yeah. Yes. At the chickens Last, I mean, they have the whole house packed up. And I thought that was when Chicken was lost, that that was very, again, a softening of Martin making flyers. He was up all night worrying about it makes flyers and goes around putting them all over town. And, you know, even says, Joe, I'm asking your help. And again, normally he just would brush Joe off. But Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm Yeah. Judy: Again, I think that was definitely a softening of him. Chesla Wechsler: Did you notice early on when they first talked about Buddy having died and they still had the dog bed and Martin couldn't throw it out? Judy: Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: So yeah, and I, it's funny cause Martin says with respect to finding Chicken that he didn't want their departure to be delayed, but it's like, that's not his motivation. It's either he's okay with the dog or in fact, James's dog. So. Judy: Right, right, yeah, no. Yeah. But again, I think at the end when they decide not to leave ⁓ looking over his view their front door and he shuts the door and then Chicken is at the door barking ⁓ and who the door and lets him in the house? Martin. And the fact that Chicken was on the bed at one point, know, like ⁓ maybe that the Christmas episode, but these are things ⁓ he would have never Chesla Wechsler: Yes. Yeah. Yeah. No, no, no. But I'll tell ya, when that brachial artery thing... Judy: You didn't want the dog. Chesla Wechsler: I was in pain with him. Judy: when she had to put her finger in his arm. Chesla Wechsler: When she's like cleaning out the clotted blood and do I was like, ow. And just very convincingly portrayed person who's really in pain. Judy: Right, yes, yes. And somebody who's lost a lot of Although I will say... Chesla Wechsler: Yes, And Louisa doing, mean, Caroline Catz also doing a phenomenal job, like stealing herself for having to do this thing that you know she's terribly uncomfortable doing, but she's got to save her husband. Judy: Right? and showing that she's terrified do it, but on the verge of tears saying, I don't want to hurt you. But that was, my husband was those two episodes ⁓ and. ⁓ was like, come on. ⁓ that ⁓ and the one in episode, the Christmas episode where he's like almost freezes to death. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: No! These men! ⁓ Judy: he was just like, Chesla Wechsler: boy, you know, maybe he was hiding, Well, see, he wasn't as emotionally attached to these people as we were. Yeah, like Chris was definitely, he was with me on that. You know, both of us are kind of like, with the arm and, ⁓ yeah. that, Last Christmas episode, like I said, that was one of my favorites. And I just love how they did a nice job, I thought, of tidying things up. Judy: No, not at all, Yeah, no, that was pretty gruesome. ⁓ Yes. Chesla Wechsler: Like it didn't seem contrived. You could have said, yeah, I'll predict that Joe's gonna get married to Janice and, you know, Morwenna and Al will have, like everything that you wanted to happen was basically happening. ⁓ But at the same time, it worked. Like I don't think they force fit anything. Judy: Yeah. Now, the only thing I was left questioning was, I guess the caravan park is still operational after the big explosion. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, that was just one caravan. One valuable caravan. Judy: Yeah, yeah. So I don't know where he's getting his money, but I guess it's doing well enough. but yeah, he and Caitlin back together, it the fairy ending, you know, and even for James Henry to ⁓ finally see Santa coming the sled and, know. Chesla Wechsler: Right, right. And you know, the- Judy: from the tree burning down everything was fairy tale ending Chesla Wechsler: And you'll learn more things about, there's a lot that you learn in that episode, I think, which is, mother dies and he's really not broken up about it. mean, he just doesn't want the fish to get dry. Like Louisa's giving him a hug and he's like, I just don't want the fish to get dry. So like done with her. But when he has the car accident and he hallucinates her, Judy: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: What it does bring to his mind is he's projecting to her that he's losing James. And everything that came before that in the episode where he closes down the grotto and James is upset with him and then James runs away and Martin starts recalling his own horrible Christmases where his parents would leave him as a five-year-old or whatever. yeah, they're one day to get away from him. Judy: Yes. Yeah, wouldn't even be there Christmas day. Chesla Wechsler: You know, just what a horrible woman. Judy: But doesn't he in that when he hallucinates her and he's about to get out of the car doesn't he say I forgive you Chesla Wechsler: Yes, and she says, no you don't. bugger or something. when she, of all, I thought his performance as a very cold person was very good. Because I don't know if you've ever been, I went to Montreal as a kid and I remember, I'm sure I had frostbitten toes because they felt like they're gonna explode. But like, you're so cold that your muscles don't work. Judy: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: And the way he's just like trying to get back to the car, he's like a robot. And he gets in the car and he's describing these symptoms. It's like, you you're not a person, you're a symptom. And he's talking and there's frost. And she's talking and there's no frost. So it's like, yeah, she's definitely, she's not there. Judy: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, ooh, I that. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, I pointed that out to Pauline too. It's like the special effects folks a nice little detail there. Yep, but when he starts the car and he's so excited and boy then she touches his hand, maybe not. ⁓ yeah, yeah. What did I want to mention to you? One thing that I would recommend you go look at. Judy: Ooh, now we have to go back and watch. that it never would. Yeah, oof, oof, just awful. Chesla Wechsler: is when Terry Glasson comes back, Louisa's dad, ⁓ sprained his ankle and he's on the couch getting checked and Louisa says, I told him he could stay here tonight. Just watch that scene again and just watch Martin Clunes. It's just, it's so easy to miss, wrap up for you. Judy: No. Okay. Does he make a face or something? Chesla Wechsler: It's just one of these... Like, ⁓ my god, did you really promise him that? ⁓ Little touch. Did you pick up the names? The funny names? Judy: Funny. Yeah. You know, I had and I didn't write them down. There were a couple that when they said them, I laughed. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, we've got Scott Chegg again, I think. Kay Cole is cake hole, which is a British thing. The one I thought was funniest was Pam Demmick. Judy: Okay, Scott Chegg. Chesla Wechsler: because this was filmed after the pandemic. ⁓ Martin calls somebody Mr. Herpes because that was the diagnosis the guy had, but he forgot his actual name. He called him Mr. Herpes. Jean Simmons, Robin Banks. Judy: Yeah. Jean Simmons is I definitely up on. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, Robin Banks and Mick Sturbs. Judy: ⁓ mixed herbs. Takes me a second. ⁓ Chesla Wechsler: mixed herbs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And ⁓ yes. And there are some very good lines. know, the more one I think says, you know the doc, a never ending flood of emotions. And with, please don't hug me. Judy: You know, that to me, was also a very emotional moment when she's leaving the surgery and she has like tears in her eyes and she's like, well, you know, and it does for a moment there, you think she's gonna hug him and that's, yeah, please don't hug me. And she's like, I know you better than that. And that was just so. Chesla Wechsler: Right. Yeah. Yeah, come on, doc. I know you better than that. And then thank you, Morwenna You've been very, very good. Judy: Yeah, she's, you know, that's high praise. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, and she's just like, Judy: was high praise from him. it just, to me, I thought that was such a, yeah, I definitely, that's another moment I got choked up because it was that, you know, gosh, he walked her down the aisle, Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Another moment that got me was when he was at, this was in the ⁓ regular episode with Arthur Collins, when he treats his leg and then he spots the growth chart on the wall. Judy: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: And he's sitting there saying, I'm not a local. And Arthur's like, you spent your summers here, you came back here as an adult, like, you've married and raised a family here. But yeah, yeah. And then we've got, when they're dealing with them leaving, Joe says, Judy: ⁓ huh. Yeah, your family's here. Yeah, yeah. Chesla Wechsler: That's the best way to deal with uncomfortable emotions, isn't it? Push them to the pit of your stomach and hope they go away. ⁓ don't know if that's the best way. And Joe says, now you've learned something new. ⁓ Judy: It was. He's so funny. He's so funny. None whatsoever. But I do think it's interesting that, know, Martin kept getting choked or ⁓ to point of vomiting when he, was looking around the packed up office. And, when he saw the ⁓ growth chart on the wall so maybe Ruth ⁓ has a point there, right? Chesla Wechsler: Like no awareness whatsoever. Yeah, yeah Yeah, ⁓ absolutely, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, you know, you can pray for a movie. That's what I'm always doing. we've got Best Medicine of course, that we can watch. But it'll never beat the original, I don't think. Judy: Yeah, don't think so. I don't think so. Chesla Wechsler: of TV shows that you have watched and liked, where would you put this one? Judy: Yeah, I might say it's right up there.
