- 0:00Speaker 1: You know that storm last night. I got that alert
- 0:02Speaker 1: on my phone and it's still on my phone.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Was critical, didn't it?
- 0:06Speaker 1: Yeah? But does it not?
- 0:07Speaker 3: Just dismiss it? Yeah? Where how You just swipe it?
- 0:13Speaker 4: Yeah, swipe it to the left.
- 0:17Speaker 1: What it's gone?
- 0:18Speaker 3: Now? Hey technology, you guys weather alert.
- 0:25Speaker 1: If you're like us and you have that alert and
- 0:27Speaker 1: will come off your phone, swipe to the left and
- 0:29Speaker 1: it's gone to the left, to the left. Dylan is
- 0:32Speaker 1: in here because she had a different take. We had
- 0:34Speaker 1: this deal with the storm last night, and we have
- 0:36Speaker 1: different versions of the story of the storm. But her
- 0:38Speaker 1: story is a little relatable because I had something with
- 0:41Speaker 1: the airport. Is I think I saw this morning the
- 0:42Speaker 1: airport was shut down or something?
- 0:44Speaker 4: Uh huh.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 4: So Max, my long distance boyfriend, has been here for
- 0:48Speaker 4: the weekend, and he was supposed to fly out back
- 0:50Speaker 4: to San Francisco last night, and so I dropped him
- 0:53Speaker 4: off at the airport and it wasn't looking good. He
- 0:55Speaker 4: was already delayed an hour by the time I dropped
- 0:57Speaker 4: him off, and so we decided, Okay, he'll just stay there.
- 1:00Speaker 4: I'm gonna come back and if it gets canceled, he'll
- 1:02Speaker 4: just super back to my house. But already I was
- 1:04Speaker 4: driving home and I could barely see the road, like
- 1:06Speaker 4: it was so bad.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So I was like, one of the things the alert
- 1:08Speaker 1: says is don't drive.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Yeah, so I was like, there's no way he's going
- 1:11Speaker 4: up in the sky. Mind you were driving there and
- 1:12Speaker 4: I'm seeing lightning, crash all of those guys.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I'm like, I want you to go.
- 1:15Speaker 3: The same time, I was like.
- 1:17Speaker 4: You're going up there in the middle tube, Like, no,
- 1:19Speaker 4: you're not. So I was kind of hoping it would
- 1:22Speaker 4: get canceled and then yeah, like right when I got home.
- 1:24Speaker 4: It was kind of a back and forth of like
- 1:26Speaker 4: it literally got delayed until midnight to where he wouldn't
- 1:29Speaker 4: get in until two am. Mind you, he starts work
- 1:32Speaker 4: at six am, so that would not have been good.
- 1:34Speaker 4: But yeah, it ended up he was able to rebook
- 1:37Speaker 4: for free, so he rebooked for five PM, so we
- 1:40Speaker 4: get one extra.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Oh that's nice. You can have yourself a nice date lunch.
- 1:44Speaker 2: So nice.
- 1:45Speaker 4: It's like the long distance couple like dream. It's like
- 1:47Speaker 4: what you wish would happen that one of your flights
- 1:49Speaker 4: gets canceled and it actually happens.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Especially since it's you and you're still at home.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So you took him to the airport. I took him to there,
- 1:56Speaker 1: went home, yeah, fully, and then you picked him back up.
- 1:59Speaker 1: At what time he ubered back?
- 2:01Speaker 3: I was like, I can't drive.
- 2:02Speaker 4: So he got back to your house at the time
- 2:04Speaker 4: at like I want to see, like nine thirty.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Okay. So yeah, and when he's at your house, could
- 2:10Speaker 1: you live at home with your parents? Does he sleep
- 2:11Speaker 1: in your room? Yeah?
- 2:13Speaker 2: He was.
- 2:13Speaker 4: He's allowed to. That's never been allowed before, but for him,
- 2:17Speaker 4: my parents allow it. Yeah, he's actually asleep when.
- 2:19Speaker 1: He says they been allowed before. Was that a situation before,
- 2:22Speaker 1: like you'd have guys come over?
- 2:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I've never had a boy spend the
- 2:26Speaker 4: night before. My parents are pretty traditional, so but they
- 2:29Speaker 4: would always sleep in the guest room.
- 2:30Speaker 1: If there was I would tell you. I as a parent,
- 2:34Speaker 1: thought that I would never let that happen. But it's happened.
- 2:36Speaker 1: There's a girl in my son's room right now.
- 2:38Speaker 3: You really, I know.
- 2:40Speaker 5: I think Camp's girlfriend came to stay with you for
- 2:43Speaker 5: the summer. I was like, so are they just they're
- 2:46Speaker 5: just sleeping together like, which never a discussion.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Just because they lived in Hawaii and they slept together
- 2:52Speaker 1: there all the time, so it's like, how can you
- 2:54Speaker 1: come here and then be like no, you know what.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I told my parents because the first few times he visited,
- 2:58Speaker 4: he was in the guest room and I was like,
- 3:00Speaker 4: I was like, come on, we were just at school,
- 3:02Speaker 4: and like my parents got married like a year after
- 3:05Speaker 4: they graduated, so I'm like, I know y'all were doing
- 3:07Speaker 4: the same thing.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure.
- 3:11Speaker 1: At one point my son and his girlfriend though, they
- 3:15Speaker 1: like in a Bible study. They each they read the
- 3:17Speaker 1: Bible every night. They're like the Bibles by their bed.
- 3:19Speaker 1: They do all something thinking do they do.
- 3:22Speaker 3: They That's what I will tell you too.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I see them doing it.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Because you read the Bible doesn't mean that.
- 3:36Speaker 4: You know, school kids are the most crazy.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I still think my sister doesn't have sex and she's
- 3:42Speaker 1: got two kids, so I somehow we talked about TV earlier.
- 3:47Speaker 1: But one thing we forgot, which is the biggest thing
- 3:49Speaker 1: in the world, is the World Cup soccer. Yeah. Today,
- 3:52Speaker 1: it's it's today, there's a there's a game today, and
- 3:54Speaker 1: then there's a game in a couple days. Right, I
- 3:55Speaker 1: think there's only four teams left, right, and the championship
- 3:58Speaker 1: is Sunday and that's where the biggest thing in the
- 4:00Speaker 1: world would be justin bieber Us. That's here's what I
- 4:05Speaker 1: understand about that that's gonna be the halftime show. However,
- 4:08Speaker 1: it works in soccer and it's all those artists in
- 4:11Speaker 1: eleven minutes. That's eleven minutes, and the super Bowl we
- 4:15Speaker 1: have more than that.
- 4:16Speaker 3: It's like thirty minutes.
- 4:17Speaker 1: The super bowlty minutes. The only one song like We
- 4:21Speaker 1: Are the World. Like they're gonna do one song.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Remember when it.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Was like who was It? It was like fifty cent
- 4:28Speaker 2: and they had Eminem and they had who.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Was Snoop Dog?
- 4:31Speaker 1: They had all those people.
- 4:31Speaker 3: They're gonna be able to do it those people and
- 4:33Speaker 3: they had thirty minutes.
- 4:35Speaker 2: They don't know halftime is it's probably right around eleven
- 4:39Speaker 2: twelve minutes. Yeah, for the halftime show.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Okay, so if the halftime show is eleven twelve minutes
- 4:44Speaker 1: in the super Bowl, which I think is longer than
- 4:47Speaker 1: it is, they still got to set it up and
- 4:48Speaker 1: do it all. So how are they gonna set it
- 4:50Speaker 1: up and do it? So maybe the performance then will
- 4:52Speaker 1: be format they.
- 4:53Speaker 5: Get twelve to fifteen minutes. Yeah, the performance, Well, halftime show.
- 4:56Speaker 3: No, really, that's what was longer than that?
- 4:58Speaker 5: No, may just seen the last time break stretches twenty
- 5:01Speaker 5: to thirty minutes, but the actual on stage set is
- 5:05Speaker 5: twelve to fifteen.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Well, to think about the the World Cup is tonight
- 5:08Speaker 1: and it's the I'm just kind of bombed. I was
- 5:10Speaker 1: a big fan of the Norway guy.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Yeah, he is literally dominating my feed right now. I
- 5:15Speaker 5: don't know how, Like I am not into soccer. I
- 5:18Speaker 5: was like, all for the USA getting far. I was
- 5:20Speaker 5: really proud of him.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That was great.
- 5:21Speaker 5: And afterwards kind of like fell off and then all
- 5:23Speaker 5: of a sudden, slowly but surely Earling Holland is all
- 5:26Speaker 5: that's in my feet because that's hair.
- 5:28Speaker 2: People are freaking out of those hair.
- 5:30Speaker 5: He's just like this remarkable guy that like and you want,
- 5:33Speaker 5: I think is so cool. On the Norway team, there's
- 5:36Speaker 5: three guys whose dad's played in the World Cup team
- 5:39Speaker 5: in nineteen ninety six, the same three guys, three's dads.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Like, how does that happen?
- 5:44Speaker 2: That's insane? That Norway in England game? What was it
- 5:46Speaker 2: last week when Nory got booted out and they made
- 5:48Speaker 2: that goal and they took it away. Me and my
- 5:50Speaker 2: memy were watching it and we're literally screaming at the TV.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I've never been invested into soccer.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I know, it's my life. It's like, yeah, it's going
- 6:00Speaker 3: to be bigger now than ever, doesn't it any say,
- 6:02Speaker 3: like sixty five America million people watched it, feel like it's.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Been big everywhere else.
- 6:06Speaker 2: But because we have games in the States, I think
- 6:09Speaker 2: we feel a little bit more.
- 6:11Speaker 1: It was a big it's it's we have more people
- 6:13Speaker 1: living in America.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Hasn't been invested as much.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Right, No, that's true. But that's becoming bigger, just like everything,
- 6:18Speaker 1: Just like the Super Bowl. Everything's getting bigger, bigger, bigger
- 6:20Speaker 1: every year. But I'll tell you about the Norway guy.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of his, and he's a psycho eater.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Exercise like he fixed thousand couns flew in all his
- 6:28Speaker 1: food because only because of all the chemicals and crap hair.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So he did all that and then I saw his
- 6:34Speaker 1: Have you seen his house? His house is freaking awesome.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You know, he's the highest paid athlete under twenty five
- 6:39Speaker 1: in the world. He gets eighty million a year.
- 6:42Speaker 3: And that's just from soccer, not not that doesn't include endorsement.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I know. And now that he's such this lovable character.
- 6:47Speaker 3: He's going to be even more rich. I know, the Brandy.
- 6:50Speaker 5: He's about to have way more coming his way.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I know.
- 6:52Speaker 5: I watched this video of him as a kid, and
- 6:54Speaker 5: there was like a scout that watched him and literally
- 6:56Speaker 5: said like, he's not destined for anything.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Right I saw that.
- 7:00Speaker 5: Oh he proved them wrong.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So you know, the best soccer playing in the world,
- 7:02Speaker 1: they say, is that Lionel Messi. Yeah, and we all
- 7:05Speaker 1: know I've heard his name. He's massive. In fact, he's playing,
- 7:08Speaker 1: he's for Argentina, playing whatever. I saw this thing that
- 7:11Speaker 1: said that Lionel Messi, who's hit all these incredible milestones
- 7:14Speaker 1: like the Lebron James of soccer. This Norway kid has
- 7:18Speaker 1: hit those milestones before him. He's way ahead of Lionel Messi.
- 7:22Speaker 3: He just all he doesn't score. Did I tell you
- 7:25Speaker 3: that the US soccer team was at the hotel? I
- 7:27Speaker 3: was staying at two, which was okay, So I go
- 7:31Speaker 3: down to the gym to do my tai chi walking.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Of course, as you know, God, I'm sure Travis Kelsey
- 7:37Speaker 3: didn't want to bother you.
- 7:39Speaker 1: There's just a normal guy doing walking over there.
- 7:42Speaker 3: I mean, what I call the good enough for today workout,
- 7:44Speaker 3: which is if you're in a hotel on vacation, that's
- 7:47Speaker 3: what you should be doing. So as I walk into
- 7:49Speaker 3: the hotel, all I see is merch for USA soccer.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I mean shirts, robes like little little do rags everywhere,
- 7:57Speaker 3: and I'm like, do they not sell any just regular
- 7:59Speaker 3: clothes here? It's I thought, maybe it's the hype because
- 8:02Speaker 3: of soccer. They had some guns in La and it's
- 8:04Speaker 3: in La, so I see these two guys get on
- 8:07Speaker 3: the treadmills and they crank the ramps all the way
- 8:10Speaker 3: up and they are running their asses off, and I'm like, dudes,
- 8:14Speaker 3: you guys need to go have a waffle. This is
- 8:15Speaker 3: this is a Marriott. You shouldn't be working out this hard.
- 8:18Speaker 3: And then I found out that the team was staying
- 8:20Speaker 3: at that hotel. Those were two of the soccer players
- 8:22Speaker 3: and they just lost everything, but they're still working their
- 8:24Speaker 3: butts off.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Sure now they got to go back to work. Are
- 8:28Speaker 1: in unusually insane shape. Well, Kyle, you're talking about your
- 8:31Speaker 1: algorithm being the Norway guy. It's funny because it's so
- 8:34Speaker 1: interesting how algorithm rhythms go for certain people. My wife
- 8:39Speaker 1: over last week concerned is hacked about what's going on?
- 8:42Speaker 1: And I ran and Iraq and whatever and the bomb
- 8:44Speaker 1: or bombing them, and they, oh, my god, Trump's gonna
- 8:46Speaker 1: do this. Then I'm like, huh, chase all over my feet.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I go, I'm seeing one thing about that. I got
- 8:51Speaker 1: wold cup soccer, I got biohacking stuff and feet. I
- 8:56Speaker 1: don't know anything about it. What's going on with the
- 8:58Speaker 1: IRA's not one thing. The problem is if you pause
- 9:02Speaker 1: for more than a second or two on one of
- 9:05Speaker 1: those videos and then you get thousands of other way
- 9:07Speaker 1: so at some point you must have found something interesting
- 9:10Speaker 1: with the Norway guy and maybe spent more than half
- 9:11Speaker 1: a second on it, and then they sent it's funny
- 9:14Speaker 1: and it cut and it was wild about it is
- 9:16Speaker 1: it comes immediate. It's like the next post is like, oh,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and it's so brilliant how they've done that. Because if
- 9:23Speaker 1: you look at a clip of the office, just a
- 9:25Speaker 1: random clip of the office, Oh, that's a cute scene.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I remember that next clip. More office, yep, more office.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Wait.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I only wanted to see that one clip with Office.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I don't need to see everything about the office just.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Because I watched it one time. Although I don't mind.
- 9:36Speaker 5: I do find the stories about Earling Holland like very lovable.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I do too. We got a four pack of diamondback
- 9:43Speaker 1: tickets on the line in less than twenty minutes. Also
- 9:45Speaker 1: got to tell you this, yesterday I taped another episode
- 9:49Speaker 1: of the highly successful John J. Vanes podcast, and I
- 9:53Speaker 1: am now I think I've done fifty three fifty three episodes.
- 9:57Speaker 1: And I didn't know this until yesterday. I have five
- 10:01Speaker 1: hundred and three followers on my YouTube channel. Oh go
- 10:04Speaker 1: you five hundred, Lets go three, five hundred and three, which,
- 10:08Speaker 1: by the way, I found out yesterday, when you have
- 10:10Speaker 1: over five hundred followers on your YouTube channel, you can
- 10:13Speaker 1: start to monetize. We have thousands on John Jay and
- 10:18Speaker 1: Rich who gets that money? Never know?
- 10:22Speaker 3: How come we don't just click that button?
- 10:27Speaker 1: The guy interviewed yesterday, this is fascinating. His name is
- 10:30Speaker 1: he goes by the garden Nerd, and he lives over
- 10:33Speaker 1: He lives over by you guys, the garden Nerd, and
- 10:35Speaker 1: he is such an interesting guy. He even has a
- 10:37Speaker 1: segment on TV. But did you know he grows He
- 10:40Speaker 1: has hundreds, he said, hundreds of trees in his backyard.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And the trees in his backyard, grow mangoes, bananas, all
- 10:47Speaker 1: kinds of fruit and vegetables, tell trees like, I didn't
- 10:49Speaker 1: know you can grow mangos here. He says, this is
- 10:51Speaker 1: some of the best place to grow mangos. So he
- 10:53Speaker 1: has mangoes and bananas a dangle over the backyard of
- 10:55Speaker 1: his neighbors. He's got kettlops, he's got everything, avocados. You
- 10:58Speaker 1: can do it all here in this way, which I
- 11:00Speaker 1: didn't think you could do that. It's really good for
- 11:03Speaker 1: the heat. Haar is really good. It's a really interesting podcast.
- 11:06Speaker 1: When it drops, I'll make sure to promote it. Yeah,
- 11:08Speaker 1: or go follow the John J. Vans Podcast on YouTube.
