- 0:09Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning. Welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I'm home with a pro. We've got Valor Construction in here.
- 0:14Speaker 2: How are we doing, fellas?
- 0:15Speaker 1: Doing great.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Doing fantastic.
- 0:17Speaker 2: It's not a bad time of year to be doing
- 0:20Speaker 2: construction and roofing.
- 0:21Speaker 1: That is correct.
- 0:22Speaker 4: This weather is definitely much needed and all the guys
- 0:26Speaker 4: are loving this nice, cool weather nowadays.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Oh, man, this is great. Great to have you guys back. Nice,
- 0:31Speaker 2: great veteran-owned local business.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Tell us how local we really are. Well, you don't
- 0:36Speaker 1: get much local than this.
- 0:37Speaker 5: Yeah, we've we've been ingrained in the community for a
- 0:41Speaker 5: long time. Um, done all kinds of things. I, I
- 0:44Speaker 5: actually own about 50 or 60 properties here in town.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Also on the Copan truck stop. Um, so we're, we,
- 0:51Speaker 5: we've fed a lot of Barshans over the years. And, uh,
- 0:55Speaker 5: so yeah, I mean, we're just, uh, trying to incorporate and, and,
- 1:00Speaker 5: and dig in and, and work with the people of Bartlesville,
- 1:02Speaker 5: work with the churches, work with, uh, you know, all
- 1:05Speaker 5: the residents of Bartlesville and maintain that local presence guys. That's,
- 1:09Speaker 5: Let's stand up for our community and work together.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And one of the things we just heard in that
- 1:15Speaker 2: Dynamite commercial just a little bit ago, veteran owned and operated.
- 1:18Speaker 1: You served, right? Yes, sir.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Army for five years, two tours in Iraq.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And, you know, you hire the best.
- 1:27Speaker 2: And when it comes to getting the job done, Ballard
- 1:31Speaker 2: just kind of makes you feel like, I'm proud.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I'm patriotic. I'm with the right guys here, you know, and.
- 1:37Speaker 2: It really says a lot because, you know, they're doing
- 1:41Speaker 2: the job, but they're doing it valiantly.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yes, correct.
- 1:44Speaker 4: So, you know, one of the things that we pride
- 1:46Speaker 4: ourselves on is obviously our roots and being a veteran
- 1:49Speaker 4: is important and bringing those values that you learn in
- 1:53Speaker 4: the service to the service on your homes.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Now, what kind of, I know you do roofing. What
- 1:59Speaker 1: else do you do?
- 2:00Speaker 4: So we do, uh, ground up builds. We've done, uh,
- 2:03Speaker 4: we've built a few houses up in Copan. We've got, um,
- 2:06Speaker 4: a lot of, you know, just redoing people's patios from
- 2:10Speaker 4: the windstorm in July. I mean, that's a lot of
- 2:12Speaker 4: patios got damaged and, you know, this gives people the
- 2:15Speaker 4: opportunity to do some upgrades, you know, insurance is paying
- 2:17Speaker 4: for X amount of dollars. And, you know, if you
- 2:20Speaker 4: want to upgrade it, then, Hey, let's, now's the time
- 2:22Speaker 4: to do it. And we, we just completed one, uh, on, uh,
- 2:27Speaker 4: last week and it came out really beautiful and the
- 2:29Speaker 4: customer loves it. So we're real excited about that.
- 2:32Speaker 1: My goodness sakes.
- 2:33Speaker 2: You know, fall is also a time to, like you said,
- 2:36Speaker 2: you know, summertime can really beat on your roof. It
- 2:39Speaker 2: can beat on your home. It can beat on your
- 2:41Speaker 2: business and you don't just stop at homes. You work
- 2:44Speaker 2: on businesses too, don't you?
- 2:46Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 2:46Speaker 5: We can do commercial work. There's, there's, uh, no problem
- 2:50Speaker 5: that there's really nothing we can't do.
- 2:52Speaker 3: We have, we have connects.
- 2:54Speaker 5: If they don't work in house for us, we have, plumbers, electricians,
- 2:59Speaker 5: you know, all kinds of trades that we can bring
- 3:02Speaker 5: onto the job site.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Like Dan said, we can do ground up builds.
- 3:06Speaker 5: We did three small houses in Copan for Hammer Time Construction. And,
- 3:13Speaker 5: you know, we worked with them hand in hand. They're
- 3:15Speaker 5: a property management company here in town. And so, you know,
- 3:19Speaker 5: we're just constantly, you know, I mean, whether it be
- 3:22Speaker 5: rebuilding a fence, I mean, we're not, like you said,
- 3:24Speaker 5: we're not just about roofing. I mean, if we show
- 3:27Speaker 5: up on the job site, we can do your soffit.
- 3:29Speaker 5: We can do your fascia. We've got guttering guys. We
- 3:32Speaker 5: have tree trimming services we work with constantly. And we
- 3:38Speaker 5: bring on contractors that have the same values as us,
- 3:42Speaker 5: not just your typical, you know, the cheapest guy gets
- 3:45Speaker 5: the job mentality.
- 3:47Speaker 3: We want it done. We want it done right. And,
- 3:49Speaker 3: you know, if.
- 3:51Speaker 5: That's the kind of service that you want for your
- 3:53Speaker 5: property and you put value into your home, That's what.
- 3:57Speaker 3: We're here to do.
- 3:58Speaker 1: So you're looking for the best fit all the way around. Absolutely.
- 4:01Speaker 2: You're going to look for what works best for the
- 4:04Speaker 2: customer and what's going to give you the best outcome, too.
- 4:08Speaker 1: That's great.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Being on the job with several other different trades, you
- 4:13Speaker 2: build different kinds of networking along with that too. And
- 4:18Speaker 2: you get a little bit of a handle on what
- 4:20Speaker 2: they're all about and who might be best for some
- 4:23Speaker 2: of the jobs you're doing.
- 4:24Speaker 1: To work side by side with you. Yep.
- 4:26Speaker 4: So we're very particular on what subcontractors we bring in
- 4:30Speaker 4: to do certain specific jobs. One of the things that
- 4:34Speaker 4: I really enjoy doing is working directly with the customer
- 4:37Speaker 4: and making sure that All the fine details of the
- 4:40Speaker 4: project get done the way they want it done. And
- 4:43Speaker 4: at the end of the day, we're not done with
- 4:45Speaker 4: that job until that customer is happy.
- 4:47Speaker 1: That's great.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And sometimes somebody might just say, well, can you just
- 4:51Speaker 2: fix it?
- 4:52Speaker 1: Well, what do you want it to look like?
- 4:54Speaker 2: And it's not, you know, we want to, everybody needs
- 4:58Speaker 2: to share the same view of what the outcome is
- 5:00Speaker 2: going to be.
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's great. It takes a great deal of patience sometimes
- 5:03Speaker 1: on that. Oh, yeah. Indeed. Indeed. where can we find you?
- 5:06Speaker 2: I mean, uh, you've got the Facebook and, uh, websites
- 5:11Speaker 2: and things like that.
- 5:12Speaker 5: Yeah, we've got a website. Um, and we got, we
- 5:16Speaker 5: got a website. You can just look us up, Ballard Construction.
- 5:19Speaker 5: I mean, a good way to find us is on, is,
- 5:21Speaker 5: is through Facebook and social media.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Um, we do have an office right here in town.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Um, Chelsea, our office manager is usually in there from
- 5:28Speaker 5: about eight to four and it's right off highway 75.
- 5:31Speaker 3: It's right next door to, uh, Tallgrass Motors.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Oh, okay. I know exactly where you are.
- 5:36Speaker 5: So he's been there a long time. Everybody kind of
- 5:38Speaker 5: seems to know where Tallgrass is. But we're right next
- 5:40Speaker 5: door to them across the street. And, you know, there's
- 5:44Speaker 5: just anybody that's looking for us, you can find us.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You can find us.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Yeah, we've got our numbers plastered on our vehicles. We're
- 5:52Speaker 5: in all the neighborhoods. And, you know, we're just trying
- 5:57Speaker 5: to do people right. It's hard times right now. I mean,
- 6:01Speaker 5: gasoline is extremely... expensive right now and we're trying to
- 6:05Speaker 5: uh you know keep away from fuel surcharges and increase
- 6:09Speaker 5: pricing and all that as best we can i'm obviously
- 6:12Speaker 5: some of that comes along and trickles into the business
- 6:14Speaker 5: but so.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Far we've we've held pretty strong we've held pretty strong.
- 6:17Speaker 2: On that so chelsea's the one that's got like three
- 6:20Speaker 2: or four phones going at the same time.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Right yeah so she's she's always on the on the
- 6:25Speaker 4: move on the phone you know getting things handled Turning
- 6:28Speaker 4: in warranties, all kinds of paperwork. I mean, it's, you know,
- 6:31Speaker 4: the stuff that I really don't like doing. I'd rather
- 6:34Speaker 4: be out talking to the people, you know.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I understand how that goes. I really do.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Now, when it comes down to, you know, the business
- 6:41Speaker 2: end of it, too, everybody needs to know, bought it, insured,
- 6:45Speaker 2: everything ready to go.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Because sometimes that kind.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Of gets missed, especially after a storm when you maybe
- 6:54Speaker 2: are working with folks you don't know. That's why I
- 6:57Speaker 2: strongly suggest you work with people you do know right
- 6:59Speaker 2: here in our area of valor.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I'm glad you brought that up.
- 7:02Speaker 4: You know, this is an important thing for our customers
- 7:04Speaker 4: to understand is that, you know, whenever you're vetting your company,
- 7:08Speaker 4: whatever company you're choosing to go with, you know, you can,
- 7:11Speaker 4: if it was me, I would do the follow-up call. Say, hey, look,
- 7:14Speaker 4: I want to find out who do you guys source
- 7:16Speaker 4: your material from? Call the material company. Ask them if
- 7:19Speaker 4: they're in good standing. If that company isn't in good
- 7:21Speaker 4: standing with their accounts, what makes, you know, what at
- 7:25Speaker 4: what point do you think they're going to do a
- 7:26Speaker 4: good job on your roof? And then, and then also
- 7:28Speaker 4: it opens you up for liability. Uh, if they get
- 7:30Speaker 4: material and they don't pay their bill, then that company can,
- 7:34Speaker 4: at that point, put a lien on the customer's house.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I mean, I didn't know that.
- 7:37Speaker 4: These are all things that are important that, uh, you know,
- 7:41Speaker 4: check out your roofing company, check out your contractor that
- 7:44Speaker 4: for your remodel, uh, do your due diligence. And, you know,
- 7:48Speaker 4: for us, you know, we, we pride ourselves on doing
- 7:50Speaker 4: the things the right way and, making sure all of
- 7:52Speaker 4: our bills are paid and nobody's going to be filing
- 7:55Speaker 4: a lien on your property when you do business with us.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Boy, that's reassurance and a half. Thanks for letting people
- 8:01Speaker 2: know that. That's awesome. Now, you've owned several properties in
- 8:06Speaker 2: the area, but prior to getting into Ballard Construction, with
- 8:11Speaker 2: properties come repairs, come upgrades, come things like this. So
- 8:15Speaker 2: you didn't come into this blindly, did you?
- 8:18Speaker 5: No, I've been, I've been buying properties since 2004 in
- 8:23Speaker 5: the Barsville area and, you know, Copan Dewey all the
- 8:26Speaker 5: way up into Caney, Kansas, Ramona, Oceleta. So I've been
- 8:30Speaker 5: down every street. I've been down every, I've, I've, I've
- 8:33Speaker 5: scanned everywhere. I know the, the main thing that I
- 8:36Speaker 5: know is the good guys to work with. I know who,
- 8:39Speaker 5: I know the guys in town that are going to
- 8:41Speaker 5: do the job that are going to do it right.
- 8:43Speaker 3: That have the insurance that are going to, going to work. Um,
- 8:48Speaker 3: They're going to work out.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Usually people, you know, and we do sometimes, but if
- 8:53Speaker 5: they're begging for work and knocking on doors and things
- 8:56Speaker 5: like that and just you got to be careful with
- 8:58Speaker 5: that kind of stuff because you don't know nothing about
- 9:00Speaker 5: those people.
- 9:01Speaker 3: And it's just, you know, we're here. We're here to stay. And,
- 9:05Speaker 3: you know, we're here to win.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I like that. I like that. And, of course, what
- 9:09Speaker 2: is your phone number, by the way? You got plastered
- 9:11Speaker 2: all over your truck.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It's 918-805-2898.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Well, there you go. Commit that to memory, everybody. And
- 9:18Speaker 2: if you didn't get it, just get on the Facebook
- 9:20Speaker 2: or the Googles. Look for Valor Construction and Roofing. Now,
- 9:25Speaker 2: getting into the roofing thing. This summer's been brutal.
- 9:30Speaker 1: First part, we.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Had the torrential rains and storms.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Then it got hot.
- 9:34Speaker 2: We had a couple more storms. Then it got hot again.
- 9:38Speaker 2: What kind of a beating does that do to what's
- 9:41Speaker 2: up above you?
- 9:42Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 9:42Speaker 4: So, you know, the roof, your roof surface is susceptible
- 9:45Speaker 4: to all of the elements of our weather. It does
- 9:50Speaker 4: get beat up pretty hard, especially on an older roof.
- 9:53Speaker 4: It's even harder on that older roof in the heat.
- 9:57Speaker 4: It starts losing granules over time. and all of these
- 10:01Speaker 4: things are just are problems waiting to happen now a
- 10:05Speaker 4: lot of times on these older roofs sometimes we can
- 10:07Speaker 4: go up and patch patch them up and repair them
- 10:09Speaker 4: and it doesn't need a full replacement if it's in
- 10:11Speaker 4: good enough shape we're not going to always offer a
- 10:15Speaker 4: full replacement if it doesn't need it you know we're
- 10:17Speaker 4: We pride ourselves on, hey, if it just needs a
- 10:19Speaker 4: simple $ 200, $ 300 repair, let's go ahead and just do
- 10:22Speaker 4: the repair. No need to spend $ 20, 000 when $ 500 will
- 10:27Speaker 4: fix it.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:28Speaker 3: I'll give you an example.
- 10:29Speaker 5: One of my properties I purchased in Bartlesville, we had
- 10:32Speaker 5: a tree limb fall on it. And Dan got up
- 10:36Speaker 5: there and the team got up there. They inspected the roof. Well,
- 10:38Speaker 5: one thing that we found that the decking was not
- 10:40Speaker 5: up to code. So we reached out to the insurance company.
- 10:45Speaker 5: The roof was only four years old. So we had
- 10:48Speaker 5: a four-year-old roof that was laid and installed on the
- 10:52Speaker 5: decking that was not up to code. So somebody, they
- 10:58Speaker 5: slapped a Band-Aid on that house. But luckily, Dan caught
- 11:02Speaker 5: it in the inspection. The insurance company stepped up. They
- 11:04Speaker 5: did their job. They covered it.
- 11:06Speaker 3: And we got new decking, got a new roof on
- 11:08Speaker 3: that property.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Good eye. Good eye. It's a great nose.
- 11:12Speaker 4: If your roofer isn't looking in your attic, that's an issue.
- 11:15Speaker 4: You always need to be checking the attic, looking at
- 11:17Speaker 4: the decking and the underside, making sure that that substrate
- 11:20Speaker 4: that the shingles are going to go on is in
- 11:22Speaker 4: good shape because the shingles are only as good as
- 11:25Speaker 4: what's underneath them.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 2: If it's not good, they're going to fall in or
- 11:29Speaker 2: fall away. Neither one is going to do you any good.
- 11:33Speaker 2: This is great to have you guys here in town
- 11:36Speaker 2: and in our area and solidly placed. A veteran owned
- 11:39Speaker 2: and operated. And, of course, you know, just the right
- 11:44Speaker 2: people for the right job. And, folks, I want you
- 11:48Speaker 2: to give them a call if you're in the market
- 11:49Speaker 2: for this. Or if you're just thinking. You were mentioning,
- 11:52Speaker 2: if you just have an idea, it doesn't hurt to
- 11:54Speaker 2: talk about ideas just to get like a ballpark figure.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Yep, absolutely. We'll do that, too.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Yep.
- 12:00Speaker 2: You have no problem sitting down and asking questions and
- 12:03Speaker 2: getting a vision, do you?
- 12:04Speaker 4: No.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Give us a call.
- 12:05Speaker 5: We'll give you an inspection. We'll look things over. And
- 12:07Speaker 5: if the job comes to fruition, we'll get it taken care.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Of for you. All right.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Hey, guys, thanks again for coming in. Appreciate it. Enjoy
- 12:17Speaker 2: the nice weather. I understand that fall is the best
- 12:19Speaker 2: two weeks we got around here in Oklahoma.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Don't last long. Valor Construction.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Remember that name, Valor Construction, folks. You're watching and listening
- 12:28Speaker 2: to our Community Connection and one-on-one with the pros.
