- 0:00You're starting drama. Sounds like it.
- 0:03Have you been like manifesting that?
- 0:04For sure. I think I manifested everything
- 0:06I'm doing right now because I really had no other option.
- 0:10I was like, this is what I'm going to do and it's going to
- 0:12happen and it did happen. Here we go.
- 0:29Hello Bestie Lulus, and welcome back to Delulu.
- 0:32Today's guestie is a fashion designer and the founder of
- 0:35Velocor, whose designs have graced LA and New York Fashion
- 0:40Weeks, and she is also a model for Delulu.
- 0:44Would you consider yourself a model?
- 0:46Now I would I never just before you.
- 0:48Thank you. I can't believe.
- 0:49That I appreciate you being my like breakout modeling game.
- 0:52You're so fucking good at. You're such a natural addict.
- 0:54Thank you. That's crazy.
- 0:55And she is a model for Delulu, So we're adding that to the
- 0:57resume here. So this is Ella Titus.
- 1:01Hi. Thank you so much for joining.
- 1:03Thanks. For having me, I'm so excited.
- 1:04We've been wanting you on the show for I'm not even getting my
- 1:06Co writer and I for I want to say since June since we started
- 1:10the show. Oh my.
- 1:10Gosh, thank you. I'm flattered.
- 1:11Oh my God, And we caught you at such a good time because you're
- 1:14in the middle of your tour for Velocor, and we're definitely
- 1:18going to get into that. But we wanted to start by
- 1:20talking about who you are. We want to get a little bit of
- 1:23your origin story, a little bit of the Ella lore before we get
- 1:26into the Velocor. Cute.
- 1:29A bar. That was a bar.
- 1:31Thank you. Well, tell us about yourself.
- 1:32Yeah, so I mean, you covered it really well, but I, my name is
- 1:36Ella. I'm originally from Des Moines,
- 1:38IA and then I moved out here to LA when I was 18, right after
- 1:41high school to go to school. I went to Fidham, the fashion
- 1:44school and. Were you always like interested
- 1:45in fashion like. Sure.
- 1:47Yeah. It's kind of always been like
- 1:48the dream, the goal and like my thing.
- 1:51Oh my God. I taught myself to sew when I
- 1:53was 5 and then. So you're self-taught?
- 1:55Yeah, I mean, like my grandma helped me a little bit, but I
- 1:58when I say when I was 5, I wasn't good at it.
- 2:00Like I made my mom a halter top thing and it's the ugliest thing
- 2:04you've ever seen. And it was like 10 sizes too
- 2:06big. And I probably really hurt her
- 2:07feelings because I was like. Does she still have it?
- 2:09I actually have it. Is that my apartment?
- 2:10She just shipped it to me. I'm gonna hang it on my wall
- 2:12with like I have a couple other like of my favorite pieces that
- 2:15I so I'm gonna do like a gallery.
- 2:17Oh, I fucking love a gallery. Me too.
- 2:18When I was at your apartment, your old apartment, and you had
- 2:21your little design corner, it was that was art itself.
- 2:24No, totally. So it's gonna be like part of
- 2:26that. But thank you.
- 2:27I always feel like it's just a disaster.
- 2:28And when people come over, I'm like, I'm so sorry.
- 2:30You literally, and they're like, no, it's cool.
- 2:32It's literally art. It's like, Oh my God, can I tell
- 2:34you? I wrote in my journal when I
- 2:35went over to see your apartment for the first time and I was
- 2:38like, this is what I think the inside of an artist's mind looks
- 2:41like, 'cause it, it felt like it, you know?
- 2:43No, it definitely normally my apartment is a disaster and it
- 2:46definitely is like the inside of my mind.
- 2:48No, no, no, it was beautiful. Thank you.
- 2:49Like I felt like every little corner felt like very
- 2:51intentional and like it was art. That's the craziest part.
- 2:54And I was actually thinking about it too, 'cause it was like
- 2:56when you're putting up your like designs and your pieces, I think
- 2:58you're literally just doing it. So you're referencing while
- 3:00you're working. But I'm like, no, this is like
- 3:02this itself. It's like I would use it as just
- 3:03as like decoration. Thanks.
- 3:05Yeah, no, I do. I put up whenever I'm working on
- 3:07a collection, I like put all my sketches up on the wall.
- 3:09So then one of my teachers that fit on told me to do and I've
- 3:11just like, always done it. So it's kind of so I can like
- 3:13keep myself on track, but also if I feel like something's not
- 3:15working, I can like step away and look at it.
- 3:17But it does kind of turn into wall art.
- 3:19So I just like leave it there. You just leave it all at all
- 3:21times. For the yeah, it's always up
- 3:23until I in theory until I finished like the collection,
- 3:26but normally I just leave it up until I start.
- 3:28I mean, it's so gorgeous. Thanks.
- 3:30OK, so I met Ella. Do you remember how we met?
- 3:33It's kind of random. It was very.
- 3:34Random at the I don't remember what the party was for.
- 3:36It was the all like white. Party.
- 3:38Yes, yes, yes. All white attire.
- 3:40Yes, yes, yes. I met you because you, the
- 3:42person you were with at the time, they were wearing one of
- 3:44your pieces. And I'm, I'm friends with him
- 3:46and it was so sick. And then he introduced me to
- 3:48you, and I started inviting you to my parties you started coming
- 3:51to. All my parties, No, no, for
- 3:52sure. Yeah.
- 3:53And then. Oh my God, you've always been so
- 3:55sweet and fun. And yeah, then you ended up
- 3:56modelling for my delulu merge. An honour?
- 3:59Oh. My God, are you kidding?
- 4:00I'm honoured you're so good at it.
- 4:01I'm surprised that you don't consider yourself a model.
- 4:03The thing is I've just like never done it.
- 4:05I mean, it sounds like something that would be fun.
- 4:07I've just, I don't know. I've been so fashion focused my
- 4:09whole life that I'm like, I've always been like, Nope, I'm for
- 4:12behind the camera. I'm making this stuff.
- 4:13What about for your own pieces? Would you ever model it
- 4:15yourself? I would, I my, I've been asked
- 4:20that before and like even people have been like, you should just
- 4:22model this. And I'm like, I'll leave it to
- 4:23the professionals because like I am also so self critical that
- 4:27I'm like, yeah. And so I'm like, I feel like I'm
- 4:29always going to like the pictures of the like
- 4:31professional models more than the photos of me, even if
- 4:35they're good. I'm like, no, like she's like an
- 4:37actual model. Like she'll do better and.
- 4:38You need to like give yourself way more credit.
- 4:40Thank you. Because I feel like after we
- 4:42shot for my merch, we've done it twice now, like your photos and
- 4:45you're just so easy to work with.
- 4:47Because that was actually my first time like creative
- 4:49directing a shoot. And you like Mina always asked
- 4:51me and she's like, is this like your vision?
- 4:53Like this is literally is my vision.
- 4:54Like this is what I see in my head.
- 4:55And you're good at like snapping into it.
- 4:56And then our photographer also praises you a lot.
- 4:59Super easy to work with. You and Victoria are very easy
- 5:01to work with, so. Yeah.
- 5:03And it's such a great process. It's super fun.
- 5:05I was actually, it's crazy because like I really love
- 5:07performing and being in front of the camera, but I was like, I'm
- 5:09really finding myself enjoying directing this too.
- 5:12And it's like what you do too. No, absolutely.
- 5:14Like that's kind of like the opposite of me because normally
- 5:17I'm directing the shoots like putting all together and I love
- 5:19that. But for yours I was like wait,
- 5:20it is kind of fun to. Be in front of the.
- 5:22Camera. Yeah, we swapped.
- 5:24Yeah, because actually the first shoot that we did, I wasn't in
- 5:26it, that that wasn't really in it.
- 5:28I had a bunch of models do it, you know, I had you and a bunch
- 5:30of of my friends model for me and a part of me was like, oh, I
- 5:34wish I was the one in there. But my specific vision was that
- 5:36I wouldn't be the face of delulu, which is so crazy.
- 5:39Don't. Make sense for you to be the
- 5:41face of? I mean, I don't know why in my
- 5:43head I was like, cuz then the second shoot we did, we just
- 5:45shot it and I love these pictures.
- 5:48So cute. I I put myself in and I was like
- 5:50this, yeah, this makes more sense or whatever.
- 5:52We're figuring it out. But yeah, we totally swapped.
- 5:55Yeah, which is fun. Which, Yeah, it was a great
- 5:57experience. I love, I love a little.
- 5:59Please do more. Anytime.
- 6:01You're genuinely so easy to work with, I really appreciate it.
- 6:04I think it helps that like I've been on the other side of it.
- 6:06So I'm like, I don't, I know what causes headaches for me and
- 6:09I don't want to 'cause that for you.
- 6:10So I kind of get. That's totally how I feel when
- 6:12I'm doing any sort of like collaboration.
- 6:14I'm always like, I know what frustrates me and I know it
- 6:16doesn't. And yeah, I just want to be easy
- 6:18for whoever I'm doing anything with 100%.
- 6:21So where did your interest in fashion begin?
- 6:23Honest OK so I would say partially like I just kind of
- 6:26always been like, I don't really know first like it's just really
- 6:29always been something I loved. But I was also a dancer growing
- 6:32up. I was like really into ballet
- 6:33and all of that all like from I was like 2 until high school.
- 6:37A very popular thing for an Ella Titus to be.
- 6:39Interested is actually, believe it or not, it is.
- 6:42We love it. Yeah.
- 6:45But with that, growing up, my dance teacher was, like, really
- 6:50unique where it was this guy who owned the dance studio.
- 6:54He would choreograph everything, like, do everything.
- 6:56He'd make all the costumes. And when I was like probably 12
- 7:00or 13, my mom started helping him with the costumes and I
- 7:03would go in and help and I fell in love with it.
- 7:05And I kind of started to realize I actually liked that more than
- 7:09the dancing thing. So that's probably when I like
- 7:12first was really like, oh, actually like I would rather do
- 7:15this as a job than dance, but but yeah, so kind of my whole
- 7:20life, but also the dance thing helped.
- 7:22Was there like a specific moment that you're like, actually I
- 7:24think this is a career I want to pursue?
- 7:27Like seriously, I would say probably more when I was in high
- 7:31school. My, I was also a theater kid
- 7:36growing up and so I would do costumes for our shows and
- 7:39stuff. And I won an award my sophomore
- 7:42year. We won like my like team member
- 7:45on the costume department or whatever and I won like what was
- 7:48it best costume design for the state of Iowa or something.
- 7:53And then I was like the. Entire state of Iowa.
- 7:55Yeah, the like at the musical theatre awards like.
- 7:58OK. It's a very cool big deal.
- 7:59It was very big deal. But absolutely.
- 8:01But when I won that, I was kind of like, oh, I am good at this,
- 8:05I guess, and it could be a job. And then I also had a teacher in
- 8:10high school who taught our fashion.
- 8:13I was really lucky that my high school had like a fashion class.
- 8:15Was it like an artsy high school or is it just like not?
- 8:18Not like it was a regular public school, but we did have randomly
- 8:22a lot of we had a really good theater department.
- 8:24A really we had a really good just arts program.
- 8:27I guess I was really lucky in that way and she was very much
- 8:31supportive of it as a career and like kind of showing me that it
- 8:34was possible to like go on and do that.
- 8:36So definitely high school is when I really started to take it
- 8:39super seriously as like a career path.
- 8:42And then you ended up in LA from Iowa.
- 8:44Yes. So that's interesting because I
- 8:45feel like New York is like very like fashion, right?
- 8:47Like what was the decision to come out to LA?
- 8:50It's kind of funny. So I also, I always thought I
- 8:53was going to go to New York after graduate.
- 8:55That was kind of, and I still see it in my future, like live
- 8:58there at some point. Really.
- 8:59Oh, for sure. The goal would be to have a
- 9:01place here and a place there. I literally been saying this
- 9:04like I I'm trying to manifest being bicoastal.
- 9:06No, for sure, 100%. But I definitely want to at some
- 9:09point in my life live in New York, even if it's for just a
- 9:11year. I love it there.
- 9:12Oh. That's what I did.
- 9:13I lived in New York for two years.
- 9:14Yeah, yeah. So I would do that and maybe
- 9:15come back like you should do that, right.
- 9:17I've been thinking about it, but what?
- 9:20Oh my gosh. Wait, I'll visit you, please.
- 9:21OK. It is fun.
- 9:22OK, yeah, let's do it. I'll.
- 9:24I'll come, yeah. No.
- 9:25Great. Amazing.
- 9:26Yeah, let me move. But anyway, so when I was
- 9:30graduating or when I was looking at colleges, I loved New York.
- 9:35But the summer before my senior of high school, Fiddam was doing
- 9:39a summer intensive kind of thing.
- 9:41It was a two week summer camp thing where they partnered with
- 9:44USC and like another company where we would go and take
- 9:47classes that fit them during the day.
- 9:49And then we stayed at the USC dorms and they would take us
- 9:52around like all the LA spots at night and on the weekends.
- 9:55And I fell in love with just the vibe of Fiddam.
- 9:58And like the school itself. I remember I always said that if
- 10:01Fiddam had been in New York, it would have been my dream.
- 10:04I liked the the schools in New York a lot, but again, I was 18
- 10:09and I don't know if I was picking schools for like the
- 10:11right. I think necessarily fiddam was
- 10:12like super bright colored and like decorated really cute.
- 10:15Oh my God, you're so funny. No, the aesthetic was like, and
- 10:17I loved it. And I had taken classes there
- 10:19through the summer program, and then I went and toured the ones
- 10:21in New York, which like, arguably are a little bit more
- 10:24prestigious than Fiddam is, or maybe was at the time.
- 10:29But I remember being like, it's just grey and like, it's a
- 10:32little stabbing. Yeah, I was like.
- 10:34That is so funny. Not you're picking a school
- 10:36based on. Aesthetic.
- 10:37And would I change anything now? No, because I love where I ended
- 10:40up. But like, yeah, we probably
- 10:42could have looked more at the like.
- 10:43No, I mean obviously happened exactly how I knew.
- 10:45Down no for sure, but love New York.
- 10:48Almost went to New York. Could have gone to any of those
- 10:50schools. I mean, you could still go to
- 10:51New York, I mean. No for sure.
- 10:53You're going to New York and we'll talk about that for sure.
- 10:56Yeah. And that was my other thing when
- 10:57I picked Fiddam. I remember when I was 18 being
- 10:59like, I don't see myself going to school in New York and then
- 11:02moving to LA, but I could see myself going to school in LA and
- 11:05I love New York so much that I would still move there.
- 11:07I was like, I don't think I need school to get out there.
- 11:10So I guess I'm I thought that this is my way to do both.
- 11:13I know FIDDAM is a fashion school.
- 11:15What is what is? What do these little acronyms?
- 11:18Mean right. So it's was the is I don't know
- 11:21the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
- 11:24And when I went it was a sandal in school.
- 11:26Since I've graduated, it's different now.
- 11:29Yeah, it's like Arizona's. Arizona State, yeah, that's so
- 11:32random. I don't know exactly what
- 11:33they're going on. It's still, I think they split
- 11:36time between Arizona and like I said, I haven't gone there since
- 11:39the merge. I don't really know the details.
- 11:41Right, but you weren't a part of that.
- 11:43I wasn't a part, I was a part of like when Fiddum was just.
- 11:45When was Fiddum? Yeah.
- 11:47Did you like your experience there?
- 11:48Honestly, yeah, I, I did. I mean, I made some of my like,
- 11:51very best friends like. I was literally gonna say at
- 11:53your friends giving. I felt like everyone I met there
- 11:55was like, oh, I went to school. For yeah, no, totally yeah, I
- 11:57met it took I was second to find like my people there, but once I
- 12:02did like they're some of my best friends now and I learned a lot
- 12:07about like the industry and stuff.
- 12:08I always tell people you don't really need fashion school to be
- 12:11a designer. It helps I think.
- 12:13But no, I I liked it. Like I'm glad I went and I'm
- 12:16glad that I have a degree to fall back on if I need it.
- 12:19I guess when? You left Iowa, you didn't know
- 12:21anyone in LA. No, you just can't.
- 12:23You're. So brave.
- 12:24Thanks. That's actually what I did want
- 12:25to move to New York too, but I guess I was like, I was just
- 12:28jumping. I was like, whatever.
- 12:29No, totally. Like I was like, I'll make
- 12:30friends there. I didn't make friends there.
- 12:33That's OK. I was like, I think it's easier
- 12:35to move to a new city. Yeah.
- 12:36For school because you you're going to meet people.
- 12:39There the community is like a rebuilt.
- 12:40In yeah so that made it feel a little less scary but it was
- 12:44very scary and also LA because Fiddum is right in downtown LA
- 12:47yeah yeah and the like student housing is also right down there
- 12:51so I moved from Iowa to the middle of downtown LA and I've
- 12:54never really been there except for the yeah week I spent at
- 12:57the. Giant jump.
- 12:58It was a big well. What's Iowa like?
- 13:01Like cornfields everywhere. Oh my God, I was.
- 13:05Granted I was in Des Moines, which is more like the capital
- 13:07of Iowa. So it's not as rural as like
- 13:10people think, but but still like a lot slower pace.
- 13:14I mean, everyone there is so friendly and so nice, but it's
- 13:16not a big city. Got it.
- 13:19So it's like a giant shift for you.
- 13:20Big shift for sure. That's how I felt because then
- 13:23I'm originally from Georgia, the state, and then when it came out
- 13:25to LA, yeah, I was like, this is so different for.
- 13:28Me absolutely, you know what I mean?
- 13:30But even like downtown Des Moines is not like kind of
- 13:34reminds me like maybe I don't even know it's.
- 13:36Just yeah, it's great comparison.
- 13:37I'm trying to and I'm really horrible.
- 13:38I'm probably going to say this. People are going to be like,
- 13:40that's an awful comparison. But downtown Des Moines to me is
- 13:43almost like Culver City, downtown Santa Monica.
- 13:47I was like size wise, right? It's great and I love it.
- 13:49Or like almost like, you know, like the fun part of the arts
- 13:52district in downtown. Yeah, kind of like that.
- 13:55But so. But it's not a big city that's
- 13:57by any. Means OK, so Lynn, yeah.
- 13:59Do you feel like making that shift?
- 14:00Like what do you, what's your preference now that now that
- 14:02you've been there, you've lived there, you grew up there, now
- 14:04you're in LA? Oh for sure, Lai have always I.
- 14:07Love a city girl. For sure.
- 14:08I from when I was really little, I was always like, I want to
- 14:11live in a city. I'm still the same.
- 14:12Like I'm like LA is a little bit too slow paced for me.
- 14:14I want to go to New York. I I like the hustle and bustle.
- 14:17Oh my God, I so get that. New York aged me so drastically,
- 14:21I'm sure. Oh my God.
- 14:22Like. I.
- 14:23Mean, yeah, I love the hustle and bustle of New York, too.
- 14:26When I left New York and I came to Lai feel like I restored my
- 14:28age. But when I lived in New York, I
- 14:30was like, I was like, Oh my God, I'm 10 years.
- 14:32Older and I, I. Saw it on my face it was the
- 14:34craziest thing. Like, I physically looked older,
- 14:37like I felt like, I felt like I had more like, like wrinkles or
- 14:40lines or whatever on my face. And then it came to LA and it
- 14:42was like kind of disappeared, you know, I'm saying, yeah,
- 14:45super random. I'll.
- 14:46Keep that in mind if I move. I mean, you're probably built
- 14:48for it. You're definitely.
- 14:50Feel like I am. And you're also a lot younger
- 14:52than me, so you're fine. I am.
- 14:54Yes. What?
- 14:56Yeah. OK.
- 15:00We're not we're not the same age I.
- 15:01Kind of thought you were. Really.
- 15:03Oh, my God. Wait.
- 15:04I'm so flattered. Thank you.
- 15:05Yeah. Wait, that's amazing.
- 15:07Because you're super young. OK, cool.
- 15:09I have no idea. I'm 25 like.
- 15:13He's super young. Oh, OK, cool.
- 15:15I'm turning 29 this month. That's not that much older than
- 15:19me, that's. Like what, four years?
- 15:20Four years older than you? Nothing.
- 15:22OK, OK, we'll take it. We'll take.
- 15:24It so I loved growing up in Iowa and I wouldn't change a thing.
- 15:28Like so glad I got. Did you ever go back?
- 15:29No, I don't think so. Just it's just not for me.
- 15:32And also like there's really not a fashion industry in Iowa.
- 15:36That was a big part of it. Like I was obviously sad to
- 15:39leave my family and move away, but I kind of had.
- 15:42I always knew that if I was going to be a designer, I
- 15:44probably wasn't going to be in Iowa.
- 15:46A little more possible now with social media and all of that,
- 15:50but there's just something industry there.
- 15:52Maybe if I like, had kids and a family someday, but I I don't
- 15:55know, I think I'd be kind of bored.
- 15:57That's how I feel. I feel like maybe like when I'm
- 15:5940 or something. I'll have like I'll raise.
- 16:01A family back in Georgia. Totally, yeah.
- 16:02And I and I love going back to visit and I love my family there
- 16:05and like everything. I don't think I'd live there
- 16:06again. Definitely, definitely LA or New
- 16:09York. That's how I feel right now.
- 16:10I feel like LA is like this is where I'm meant to be right now.
- 16:13Totally. You know.
- 16:14No, I agree. I don't want to.
- 16:15I do want to go back to New York.
- 16:16I miss New York so bad. Like I long for New York, but I
- 16:19really feel like I long in LA. And also I was thinking that
- 16:22before I came to set today, I was journaling because I was
- 16:24excited about your episode and I was like, this is so cool.
- 16:27Like I'm like, I get to do this and like I live in LA and
- 16:29everyone I love is in LA. So it's like really easy for
- 16:32everyone to like, I mean, LA is so.
- 16:34Big I know that is. And it takes so long for anyone
- 16:37to like, meet up with anything because it's LA.
- 16:39But like, I'm still like, but everyone's here.
- 16:41Yeah, no, for sure. And that that's part of why,
- 16:43like I haven't moved to New York because I would love everyone
- 16:45that I have here. So I just want to have a place
- 16:47everywhere. Me too.
- 16:48I want to be by cold still. OK, You know what?
- 16:50We should, we should go have these on an apartment in New
- 16:52York and we'll split time there. Down.
- 16:53I'm so down. Down and then if we're not
- 16:55there, we sublease it to someone.
- 16:56I have so many friends out there who would like rent it for a
- 16:58couple. Months.
- 16:59Oh my God 100% OK I'm so down. So to help us fund that, please
- 17:02rate the Show 5 star if you're watching right now, I would
- 17:05really appreciate it. And buy the merge.
- 17:06Thank you so much. And please buy the merge that
- 17:09you know you're going to see Ella wearing it and you're going
- 17:12to want to buy it. So please, please, please buy
- 17:14the merge. OK, so you come out to LA and
- 17:16you're studying fashion. So at what point when you're
- 17:19studying and you're working on this, do you begin Bella Core,
- 17:22your brand? Yeah, I mean, it was always the
- 17:25goal moving out here. I like from when I was a little,
- 17:28I grew up, my dad was an entrepreneur and I was always
- 17:31like, I want to own my own business too and do all that.
- 17:33So it was always the goal and the plan which fit them.
- 17:38Didn't necessarily love like they're very much geared towards
- 17:42as a school. They're very not in a bad way,
- 17:44but geared towards like getting people jobs in the industry.
- 17:47Like they want you to get to the program, get you into the
- 17:49industry, which is great. And so a lot of projects they'd
- 17:51be like gear this towards your dream company to work for.
- 17:54And I was like. It'd be my son.
- 17:56It'd be me. It'd be my brand.
- 17:58Yeah. So it was always in the back of
- 17:59my mind. And I, I guess technically
- 18:02started my brand when I was in high school, but I used to just
- 18:04call it Ella Catherine, which is my middle name.
- 18:06It was Ella Catherine Designs. And there we go.
- 18:10But I launched, I changed the name and I came up with the name
- 18:13Velocor in 2022 and then launched my first collection
- 18:18Volume 1, which was just I was just doing corsets made out of
- 18:21these imported tapestries that I found that had like art looking
- 18:26designs on them. 100% very like Victorian vibes.
- 18:28I. Was gonna say you're like, your
- 18:29work is so renaissance. Too.
- 18:31Thank you. Yeah, I love that era of art.
- 18:33And so that's. Very.
- 18:34It's strong influence, Yeah. It's very apparent in your work
- 18:38and it's so beautiful and it makes it whimsical, romantic
- 18:41artistry and romance nostalgic. Yes got it.
- 18:46Nice. I'm so proud.
- 18:47Sometimes I forget them so like I'm.
- 18:49They these are the four words that you would describe Velcor
- 18:52As for sure and give us the lore behind Velocor because.
- 18:54Like the name? The name.
- 18:56Yeah. So I honestly, I had a teacher
- 19:00at Fitom tell me that maybe using my actual name wasn't the
- 19:04best idea for a brand just from a legality standpoint.
- 19:09Then like, sometimes maybe something could go wrong.
- 19:12Your name is not your own anymore.
- 19:14It happened to a designer, a bridal designer named Hayley
- 19:16Page recently. She had a, I don't know the
- 19:19details exactly, but basically she can't design under her name,
- 19:21Haley Page anymore because she sold the, I don't know exactly
- 19:25what happened. So my teacher was like, if
- 19:27you're going to use your name, just be really careful.
- 19:29Maybe look into something else. And then I also kind of like the
- 19:32idea of just having one word rather than two and make it a
- 19:35little bit shorter. I don't know.
- 19:37So then I was just sitting in a coffee shop downtown and I was
- 19:41like, all right, got to come up with a name.
- 19:43I'm horrible at naming things. I'm awful.
- 19:45I have tried to name things since it hasn't happened for me,
- 19:49but I just started Googling words and my brand is really
- 19:51inspired by antiques and art. And I was like what?
- 19:55What's a word that has that vibe?
- 19:58And I start I just start Googling like synonyms of
- 20:01nostalgia or artistry or whatever.
- 20:02And this word valicor, but it's spelled differently pops up and
- 20:07it's a made-up word that someone made-up to describe the feeling
- 20:11of nostalgia you get when you smell old books and like and
- 20:14antiques. I kind of add in there and then
- 20:17I was looking at it and I was like if I.
- 20:18I changed the I to an A. My name is right in the middle.
- 20:21You're good at naming things. Thank you.
- 20:23It was a fluke, but but I'm very proud of this one.
- 20:26And then I was like, and I like the idea I and then I came up
- 20:29with my logo, which is the V with like the flowers and I was
- 20:31like, that's really pretty. I like that.
- 20:33So it kind of just fell into place A. 100% yeah.
- 20:36I love that your name's in it. Me too, I was like wait because
- 20:38I also can't remember why. I think I looked it up and I
- 20:41think maybe someone had it or I was like, I don't know if I can
- 20:43actually use this word. I was like, but the spelling and
- 20:46I mean there, yeah, I was like, and then and then I was like,
- 20:49probably no one has the Instagram handle or like the
- 20:51domain because you're right. I mean I.
- 20:54Mean you made it up. Exactly.
- 20:55Hopefully. There you go.
- 20:56So yeah. So you had a relationship with
- 20:59Antique SO prior? Yeah, so my grandpa, on my mom's
- 21:03side, he was an antique dealer and he owned antique stores.
- 21:06And I would always go visit as a kid.
- 21:07And it was my favorite thing ever.
- 21:10Yeah, I just would like kind of go explore.
- 21:12And I've always really felt drawn to antiques and stuff.
- 21:15And I, it always made me feel really creative being in there.
- 21:17And I'd start to like, imagine like, what stories could these
- 21:20things tell? Or if, if this could talk like
- 21:23that would be so cool. And that's just really where I
- 21:26felt like I kind of found my creative voice.
- 21:29I get a lot of my creativity from both sides of the family,
- 21:31but especially my mom's side. And yeah, so it was just very
- 21:35nostalgic for me. And it has always kind of
- 21:37influenced, I think, I think my love for antiques pairs well
- 21:42with my like, brought on my love for art and then that just
- 21:45naturally kind of flew into my designs.
- 21:47But. I feel like what you're
- 21:49describing reminds me like Beauty and the Beast with the
- 21:51little yeah the furnitures. Yeah, you know for sure.
- 21:54Yeah, that'd be so cool. Yeah.
- 21:55Because like something in an antique store has probably been
- 21:58through so many hands and like so many conversations and like,
- 22:02it'd be so cool if. You that's such a like a
- 22:04romantic way to view it too. You know what I mean?
- 22:06I like. That I love romanticizing
- 22:07things. Oh.
- 22:08My God, I'm sure. Oh my God, me too.
- 22:10Trust me. In fact, I'm very delulu about
- 22:12how I romanticize everything. Me too.
- 22:14Wait, so do you feel like, wouldn't it be cool if you think
- 22:16about like the, the pieces that you're making, right?
- 22:18And it's like they're going to be living a lot of lives too,
- 22:19and they're probably going to see some shit.
- 22:21No, for sure, which I also love. And that's I think part of the
- 22:24reason I love doing wedding dresses too, because what a cool
- 22:27story, that. So much like memories and like,
- 22:29yeah, nothing that's more sentimental than a wedding
- 22:31dress. No, for sure.
- 22:32And we're. Going to be trying on a wedding
- 22:33dress right here on delulu in a bit, Little bit, yeah.
- 22:36You're going to put it on I. Would love to.
- 22:38I was literally telling Elliot out there.
- 22:40I was like, there's a wedding dress in there.
- 22:42I was like, I would love to put it on.
- 22:43I would love to look great. On you.
- 22:47OK, I will. Great.
- 22:48I would love to wear it. So I think what's really
- 22:51interesting and great about your brand that was like how
- 22:53intentional you are with it, not just with designing it, but also
- 22:55like the sustainability factors and kind of like the intention
- 22:58that you put in creating it. Do you want to?
- 23:00Talk about that. Yeah, absolutely.
- 23:01So sustainability is really important to me just because the
- 23:04fashion industry is the worst and we only have one planet and
- 23:09you know all of that, but. It's my phone background
- 23:12actually. The earth.
- 23:13Oh, I love that. Yeah.
- 23:15Oh, cute. It's cute.
- 23:16It like changes like day and night.
- 23:17Oh wait, that's cool. It's sick.
- 23:19I'll show you. I know how.
- 23:19My phone OK. Well, after all, I want to see
- 23:21that. But yeah, so I try to be as
- 23:24sustainable as possible, which also helps from a small brand
- 23:27standpoint. Like I don't go into major
- 23:30manufacturing or like fast fashion, all of that.
- 23:33A lot of my designs are so complicated, I really couldn't
- 23:35right without forking over like so much money to get them
- 23:39manufactured. So.
- 23:40Everything's handmade. Yeah, everything's handmade in
- 23:42LA in my studio, pretty much by me.
- 23:44I'm slowly bringing on a team, so they're helping out.
- 23:48But if you buy something from me, I probably made it.
- 23:52That's so right now. I also kind of love it because I
- 23:54love getting to be a part. So personal.
- 23:57Yeah, no, for sure. And then I try to source
- 24:00especially for my runway samples and as much as I can for the
- 24:02pieces I sell. I try to source dead stock
- 24:04fabrics, which basically just means that.
- 24:10So a lot of times it's where a company ordered maybe 100,000
- 24:14yards of something and they only used 90,000.
- 24:16So then these deadstock warehouses will take that extra
- 24:1910,000 and sell it to other designers.
- 24:22But it helps with sustainability because then I'm not getting new
- 24:26fabric produced for my things, I'm using something that already
- 24:29exists. Yeah, it's way more conscious.
- 24:30Right, exactly. So I try to do that whenever I
- 24:33can every night. Like sometimes it's dead sock,
- 24:36so once it's gone, it's gone. So sometimes I have to
- 24:38supplement, but I do my best to use all deadstock and then it's
- 24:41made to order. So I'm also not really sitting
- 24:42on a bunch of units. Like when someone buys a jacket,
- 24:46you make it and then send it. So I'm not making a billion tops
- 24:49that I'm going to just throw away.
- 24:50You don't have anything like that.
- 24:51You don't have like back stock of it.
- 24:53Right. It was made to order.
- 24:54Yeah, exactly. I think that's so personal too
- 24:57and especially with like everything with Ella core is
- 24:59very whimsy and romantic. And I think the aspect of like
- 25:02you hand making it, hand sewing, like that's so pretty.
- 25:06That's just a Pretty Little. Thought no, I love it as I grow
- 25:09and stuff of course, like well I'll just my goal.
- 25:12My goal is to just build out an atelier and like have a team in
- 25:15house. I don't really ever want to go
- 25:17into mass manufacturing. Like maybe I'll have a small
- 25:22team that all outsource like 50 units here or there, but nothing
- 25:26crazy. The goal has always been to
- 25:27really just have it in house because I also like being able
- 25:29to customize orders for people. Like can you do this?
- 25:33They're like, I want this top for my wedding, but because you
- 25:35make it a little bit different, like absolutely they can.
- 25:38Request that too, because you're literally making it.
- 25:40Yeah, I know exactly. Yeah, which makes it fun.
- 25:42That's so special. So if you're ordering anything
- 25:44from Bellcore, just know that she's touched.
- 25:46It. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 25:47Oh my gosh. Well, I heard a little rumor
- 25:49that we will be going to New York Fashion Week.
- 25:53You debuted New York Fashion Week this year, right?
- 25:55Yeah, this past season in February was my first one.
- 25:58And now you're going again. You're actually in the middle of
- 26:01it. You're in the middle of a little
- 26:02world tour for Velocor. Yes, I just did New York Fashion
- 26:05Week. And then congratulations.
- 26:07You. It looks so sickening.
- 26:08Thank you. I'm, I was.
- 26:10So I'm so excited to like get to do it again.
- 26:13That's so amazing. It's it's crazy because New York
- 26:15Fashion Week has been like my dream my whole life.
- 26:18Have you been like manifesting that?
- 26:20For sure. I think I manifested everything
- 26:22I'm doing right now because I really had no other option.
- 26:25I was like, this is what I'm going to do and it's going to
- 26:27happen. And it did happen.
- 26:28Here we go and. It's still growing.
- 26:30That's. So cool, which is so fun and I
- 26:31feel so lucky that I got to do it Like I'm kind of, I guess
- 26:34young to be doing it and like, yeah, you are.
- 26:36It's happened a lot quicker than I thought it would.
- 26:38That's awesome. I'm doing like smaller, you
- 26:40know, it's not like massive runways, Yeah, but still just
- 26:43getting my foot in the door in those cities.
- 26:44Has been. I mean, the fact that you're
- 26:45even being able to do that and that you're doing New York
- 26:47Fashion Weekend, You're doing it again, Yeah.
- 26:49And you're also doing London and Paris and.
- 26:52Milan. Milan is.
- 26:54What? I'm so excited.
- 26:55So it'll be my first time showing in any of those cities
- 26:58and it'll be my first time going to London or Milan as well.
- 27:00I've been to Paris once, but again, crazy.
- 27:03I never, I never thought that I would do New York Fashion Week
- 27:06by now, let alone international shows.
- 27:09And like Paris, Fashion Week is crazy.
- 27:11Milan is crazy. London's crazy.
- 27:13I mean, all of it's crazy. I feel like especially New York
- 27:15Fashion Week is so like pivotal and like.
- 27:18Yeah, that was like a big deal that that.
- 27:21I mean, they're all big deals, but doing my first New York
- 27:23Fashion Week was so cool and it was crazy because I got there to
- 27:28do my show and people knew like people showed up and like knew
- 27:31who I was and like they were excited to see the brand I had.
- 27:34Were you nervous? Yes and no, Not I don't know,
- 27:40like I get a little nervous, but not really just because I mean,
- 27:44at that point, by the time I'm there, there's not really much I
- 27:45can do. Like I've already read this
- 27:46stuff and so I'm. Like well here.
- 27:48We go, I hate it. It's too.
- 27:49I can't change it now but but I do feel like it's like and
- 27:54people always ask because I'm normally making my collections
- 27:55on like a very short time frame. Yes, a known procrastinator.
- 27:58A little. Bit or like I just I over I have
- 28:01so many projects going on that unfortunately things.
- 28:04You're busy a little. Bit busy, yeah, but I'm normally
- 28:08doing it so quick and people are always like, are you like, how
- 28:10are you not so freaked out and stressed right now?
- 28:12But it's kind of the one thing that I think I can really trust
- 28:14myself on, and I'm really like. Yeah.
- 28:17I guess believe in myself. I don't know.
- 28:18I really, I feel very strong, like I'm also not trying to
- 28:21design things necessarily with sales in mind.
- 28:25Obviously it's great that I get sales and stuff, but really I'm
- 28:29designing things that I love and genuinely enjoy.
- 28:33And I've just gotten really lucky.
- 28:34Thank you. And I've just gotten really
- 28:36lucky that I've found a pocket of people who also, I guess,
- 28:40like the same things I like and really enjoy the design.
- 28:42So I don't normally get too nervous.
- 28:44I mean, every time I'm making a collection, I go through a
- 28:47phase, normally a couple weeks into it where I'm like, I hate
- 28:51it all. This is awful.
- 28:51This is not. I mean, I'm like, that's so.
- 28:53Standard for like artists. No, for sure.
- 28:55But by the time I get to the show, I'm like, OK, actually I
- 28:58did good this time. I think.
- 28:59Oh my God. What's your favorite like
- 29:01Fashion Week that you do, What city?
- 29:03Oh, I think New York. I mean, I've only done, well,
- 29:06New York, not twice, but I would have to say New York.
- 29:09I'm about to do London and the Europe shows so who knows that
- 29:13might. It might take the cake.
- 29:14I feel like New York's always going to be the one though,
- 29:16'cause that's such a like. Like you said, it's such a
- 29:17dream. Yeah, again, just cause I've
- 29:19been like thinking about New York my whole life.
- 29:21Like to me, like New York was always the goal and Europe was
- 29:25always like, yeah, like maybe if that happened, like, but I'm not
- 29:29going to even, you know, but you should dream.
- 29:31Well, totally. And like, well, I thought New
- 29:32York was dreaming really big. And so I was like, that's the
- 29:35dream. I'll be so happy if the other
- 29:37ones happened. Wow.
- 29:39Well, delulu becomes true Lulu, no.
- 29:41I guess so, yeah. OK, so we actually heard another
- 29:44rumor. OK, so this morning the Delulu
- 29:48PR team just received an article and I wanted to share it with
- 29:52you. OK, could you read it for us?
- 29:53This is Delulu Daily. I'm so scared.
- 29:56It is a little a little tabloid something that came in.
- 29:59I didn't see it yet, but I saw our names in it.
- 30:02Could you read it for? US, yeah.
- 30:04OK. Delulu drama hits New York
- 30:07Fashion Week Fashion Week just got a major dose of
- 30:10manifestation filled mayhem. Sources tell that Delulu Daily
- 30:14that Ryan Liu's delulu merch line has sparked outrage right
- 30:18after allegedly snagging a prime New York Fashion week showcase
- 30:21slot originally I. Are you taking away your Fashion
- 30:24Week slot? Is that what you're saying I.
- 30:27Didn't want you to have to find out like this.
- 30:29I'm so I don't. Know if I want to read the rest
- 30:31of this? Should I keep going?
- 30:32You have to keep going, OK? I all right, let me start over a
- 30:37little bit. Sparked outrage OK?
- 30:39Allegedly snagging a prime New York Fashion Week showcase slot
- 30:42originally eyed by fashion darling Ella Titus and her brand
- 30:47Bellacour. Industry insiders claim the
- 30:50scheduling shake up has fueled behind the scenes tension, with
- 30:52whispers of friendly competition turning icy.
- 30:55While Ryan has built his brand on empowerment and positivity,
- 31:00critics say this move feels more like a power grab than a cosmic
- 31:04alignment. You're starting drama.
- 31:08Sounds like it. I manifested that I don't know
- 31:10what to tell you. Interesting fans are split, some
- 31:14praising Lou for manifesting his runway dreams, other siding with
- 31:18Titus, saying the designers lux high fashion vision was
- 31:21overshadowed by hoodies and slogan tease.
- 31:24New York Fashion Week producers are keeping quiet, but trust us,
- 31:28this is 1 manifestation the fashion world won't forget
- 31:31anytime soon. Let's talk about.
- 31:35It let's talk about it. So you're coming from my spot?
- 31:38Well, I'm sorry about that, I am.
- 31:41But now that you're available, could you actually model my
- 31:44merch? For this, yeah, yeah, on the
- 31:45runway. Yeah, now that you're free.
- 31:48We compromise, you move your date one over and then deal.
- 31:52We don't do it. I don't.
- 31:53I'm so proud of you. Thank you.
- 31:54New York Fashion Week debut is huge.
- 31:56Thank you, I manifested that. I know I I can tell.
- 32:00Yeah, you actually had a huge hand in it helping me model the
- 32:03merch, having the besties purchase the merch.
- 32:07So thank you. So.
- 32:08Much. Oh, you're welcome.
- 32:09So could you model for the show? I can't move the date, I'm
- 32:13sorry. Well, I mean, you're free now,
- 32:15aren't? You, I mean, I guess apparently
- 32:18sure. OK.
- 32:20Thank you. We'll have you fitted.
- 32:22So sorry. About that again, I can't wait
- 32:24to wear your T-shirt on the runway.
- 32:26Thank you so much. I would be honored if it wasn't
- 32:29the same day. Thank you.
- 32:29Thank you, Thank you. So yeah, this new collection
- 32:31that we're actually debuting on New York Fashion Week again, so
- 32:34sorry. It's actually really inspired
- 32:35by, like, you know, Greco and Renaissance and just like
- 32:41Romanticism, it's a beautiful collection.
- 32:45I don't want to spoil anything, but the new logo actually has
- 32:49some florals in. It wow, okay.
- 32:51It's, it's inspired by, like the feeling you get when you go to,
- 32:53like, an antique store or when you're reading a book, you know?
- 32:58Yeah. Well, what do they say?
- 32:59Like imitation is the best form of flattery.
- 33:01Like, I'll take it. Well, the Lulu core is all
- 33:04original. Sure.
- 33:07Well, that's. Thank you so much for hilarious
- 33:10sharing your date. Thank you.
- 33:12Yeah, it's because you're super wholesome.
- 33:16You're so wholesome. So I feel like.
- 33:17She won't get that mad. Yeah, I was like, she'll
- 33:19probably let me have the date, Yeah.
- 33:22I'm really wholesome, but like with business customer ground.
- 33:26Oh, OK, OK, well, we'll see. We'll see who ends up who ends
- 33:30up. We'll see who shows up.
- 33:33It would show. OK, we'll see.
- 33:34We'll see. I love a little competition.
- 33:36Me too, OK. All right, Well, come see my
- 33:39show for the delulu merge in New York.
- 33:41OK, Well, congratulations. Thank you on New York Graduation
- 33:44Week. So when you're like designing
- 33:46everything and you're thinking about it, I want to talk about
- 33:48your manifestation journey. You said that you manifested all
- 33:51of this. You manifested your entire
- 33:52career. Yeah, totally.
- 33:53I mean, I, I think so. Yeah, you absolutely.
- 33:56I've spoken into existence. I would say like, I've always
- 33:57just been like, yeah, I'm going to do it.
- 33:59Do you feel confident about that?
- 33:59Like, do you ever have any doubts when you're like talking
- 34:01about or like trying to manifest?
- 34:04Now, not really like I've kind of, I definitely used to and I
- 34:08mean every now and then like I'll have kind of that imposter
- 34:11syndrome moment or kind of that's.
- 34:13So normal for creative, right? I got that so much all the time
- 34:16all. My God, totally.
- 34:17It's like I go through that like I like and I definitely know
- 34:20that I have room to grow and I can't wait to continue to grow.
- 34:22It's like I have moments where I'm like down on myself, but for
- 34:24the most part, I really am like, no, like I very much like trust
- 34:30my path and my journey. I've always believed that like
- 34:32everything happens for a reason. So I'm like if something feels
- 34:34like it's not working out right now.
- 34:36That's a really good attitude. Thank you.
- 34:38And I haven't always felt like that, but but I'm like if, if
- 34:41something's not working out, it's like not meant to be.
- 34:43I mean, you're right now or whatever, like you're going
- 34:45international developer. That's crazy.
- 34:47That's kind of crazy. That's insane.
- 34:49Thanks. So yeah, I mean, I definitely
- 34:50like, I consider myself really like humble and like I do get
- 34:53down on myself, but I also am very just confident and like
- 34:58whatever is meant to be will be. That's kind of how I feel too.
- 35:01Like, I mean, I have those moments where I get really like
- 35:03in my head about things too. But then I also feel like like
- 35:06that, I don't want to say it's an unearned sense of like, you
- 35:10know, like I'm going to be able to do whatever I want, but I do
- 35:12kind of feel that way too. But I feel like you have to.
- 35:15I feel like that's what being delulu is.
- 35:16Absolutely, absolutely no, for sure.
- 35:18And like, I mean, I think you have to because like if you
- 35:21don't believe you're going to do it, like why would anyone else?
- 35:23Cuz for me, like I'm like, why would anyone else believe that I
- 35:27could do it and like put stock into my brand or like invite me
- 35:29to these shows or whatever if I don't believe that I deserve to
- 35:33be there in some capacity, right?
- 35:36Yeah, let's throw it back a little bit and let's get a
- 35:38little vulnerable here. So you know, when you're growing
- 35:41up, you're thinking about fashion, you're thinking about
- 35:43Velocor and the brand that you want to have, right?
- 35:46Do you feel like it's scary or intimidating for you to like be
- 35:49like, I'm going to start this brand, I'm going to be founder
- 35:51of this, I'm going to hand make it.
- 35:53Yeah, like when I when I was actually starting it, like
- 35:55growing up thinking about it or both.
- 35:57I guess like growing up and then really committing to it, sitting
- 36:00down like I'm going to do this now.
- 36:01No, I mean, yeah. I mean, growing up, I was kind
- 36:05of, I mean, there, there weren't any stakes yet.
- 36:08Like I was like, this is my dream, this is what I want to
- 36:09do. And it felt scary, of course,
- 36:12especially when I was going to school for fashion design
- 36:16because also not a ton of people, I mean, people in Iowa
- 36:18do it, but it's not the same mindset in terms of like a
- 36:22creative career path isn't necessarily.
- 36:25Is there like a big creative like energy in Iowa in general
- 36:28or do you feel like? It's a lot of it is in Des
- 36:29Moines, but there's also the majority of people will like,
- 36:33which is great for them, like go to school in Iowa, marry someone
- 36:36that they met in college, get married, like have like a very
- 36:39like like regular job and like get married and have kids, like
- 36:43do the whole thing. And so something a little bit
- 36:45more out of the norm while people do it.
- 36:47Like, I'm not saying I broke out of some like tiny town or like
- 36:50no one ever leaves, but like, but let's.
- 36:52Say it for the show. Right.
- 36:53Yeah, Well, I there were four people in my high school.
- 36:56No, but I think I'm a very big school and like everything.
- 36:58But it was you, 4 people in a cow, right?
- 37:00That's kind of what people think, I think when I say Iowa.
- 37:02But but like definitely when I was talking about going to
- 37:05school for fashion design, I did get asked a couple times by
- 37:08people like, OK, like when are you going to like consider a
- 37:10career that like will actually make money or like, what's your
- 37:13back? Like I got asked a lot.
- 37:14What's your backup plan? I heard that a lot too.
- 37:17Which that was a little bit discouraging, but I kind of was
- 37:20like, I don't have a backup plan.
- 37:21I'm going to. I'm going to make it work.
- 37:23Oh my gosh, Not to get like dark, but like literally exactly
- 37:26same ZS. Like I never considered like
- 37:29anything else for myself. Like I just wanted to entertain.
- 37:31Not necessarily content creation, but just anything in
- 37:32the entertainment industry that's front facing.
- 37:35And I would always be like, yeah, I don't have a backup
- 37:37plan. I don't have a Plan B.
- 37:38There is no Plan B. It's plan or I die.
- 37:41Kind of, yeah, I was like, my biggest fear is like going in
- 37:44like a nine to five job and like working for Also, like I said,
- 37:46my dad was an entrepreneur. So like I saw him start
- 37:49businesses and stuff. And so to me, I was really
- 37:51inspired by that, but it also felt kind of attainable because
- 37:54I was like, well, if he can do it, he can help me through that
- 37:56and like, teach me how to do that and all of that.
- 37:58Absolutely. But I was like, I really want to
- 38:01be able to work for myself someday.
- 38:02No 9:00 to 5:00. No 9:00 to 5:00.
- 38:04That sounds terrifying 20. 47 instead.
- 38:06Right. Yeah, Now I'm working like, So
- 38:08sometimes I am like, hmm, if I had like a corporate job, I
- 38:10probably would, I don't know, sleep more, sleep more.
- 38:12I'd probably have more money actually, because I'm not
- 38:14putting it into my business. Like everything I make goes
- 38:16right back. I kind of I get that like a.
- 38:18Lot too, yeah, but, but no. So I mean, it was a little bit,
- 38:22again, I just really trusted myself and really knew that that
- 38:24was kind of my only option that would truly feel fulfilling, I
- 38:28think. So it was a little bit scary.
- 38:30It sounds crazy like this is the only thing I'm going to do.
- 38:33I'm going to make it happen, but the same time, like I, I'm in
- 38:36such a, like a, it's such a fine line because sometimes I, when I
- 38:39talk to people about it, I'm like, do I encourage you to drop
- 38:41everything and go after your dreams?
- 38:42Like yes, in theory, but also like I'm always like, just make
- 38:45sure it's like you, you got, you have to make sure you're covered
- 38:48first before you get there. You know what I mean?
- 38:51Oh my gosh, that's the thing when it comes to manifestation.
- 38:53It's like when you're the Lulu about it, I feel like you give
- 38:56the universe no choice but to make it manifest for you.
- 38:59And I feel like that's kind of where I am right now because
- 39:00like you said about the 9:00 to 5:00, I remember during the
- 39:03pandemic, Lovato, I'd be on my knees before bed and I'd pray to
- 39:06God and I'd cry and I'd be like, please do not have me work in
- 39:10office shop. I do not want to work in 95.
- 39:11Like I just want to entertain like God, please save me.
- 39:13And I would like do that every night.
- 39:15And I would like cry like while I'm praying because I was just
- 39:16like I was like 23 and I was like, this is them too old to do
- 39:22this now, which is insane. Which is crazy because not at
- 39:25all. I looking back now I'm like damn
- 39:2723 was super young. I don't know why I thought I was
- 39:30like a hagger, little like. I was.
- 39:32Like I'm done, like I peeked already, which is so crazy, but
- 39:37did not want to do an out of five.
- 39:38No, yeah, traded for the 24/7 for sure.
- 39:42But I'm also like, I'm like, I am.
- 39:44I do feel lucky where I'm like my worst case scenario if like
- 39:47everything falls apart, doesn't happen.
- 39:49It's like a lot of people's like what they what they do is like
- 39:52the nine to five thing. So I'm like, well, at least.
- 39:53You could fall back on. That I really don't want that
- 39:55little. Safety net in your head.
- 39:56Right. But I really don't want to and
- 39:57like I really really. Yeah.
- 39:58I mean, I have a degree too, but I don't even have, I don't think
- 40:00I have that safety net because I know I can do nothing with my
- 40:03degree that would fulfill. Me, I've been kind of sane, like
- 40:05I, I guess like I guess I get a corporate fashion job, but like
- 40:07at this point I've been out of school for so long doing my own
- 40:10thing. I don't have like a work
- 40:12background other than like my brand and my clients because I
- 40:15was working with startups for a long time too.
- 40:17Yeah, doing development for them, but still it's not like
- 40:20corporate experience at what? Point did you like fully decide
- 40:24like I'm just going to commit all my time to Velcor because I
- 40:26remember you posted this year, you said I'm making that jump
- 40:29and I'm going to fully commit to my brand now.
- 40:31Yeah, really. This year I when I was in school
- 40:35still, I had my first client, Troy, reach out to me.
- 40:40No way. Yeah.
- 40:41Is that how you met him? Yeah, actually he found me on
- 40:43TikTok. I was just posting sewing videos
- 40:45of my projects at Fidom and he was starting a brand and he was
- 40:50like, I just need to find a seamstress or and like a
- 40:52designer to help me with that because he had the vision and
- 40:54the idea, but he doesn't know how to sew stuff like that,
- 40:56which is like most of my clients.
- 40:59So I was still in school, it was my senior year and he reached
- 41:03out and he was like, I'm doing LA Fashion Week, I have a show
- 41:05figured out. I need help making the
- 41:06collection. I was like great.
- 41:07So I helped him do that and I loved it.
- 41:09I love working. I do love working with clients,
- 41:12working with people and again, working for myself and like the
- 41:15entrepreneurial side of. Things.
- 41:16I mean you could do it. All.
- 41:17No, Exactly. Yeah.
- 41:17And I was like, being a freelancer is fun.
- 41:19And so then I graduated college and I kind of had him as a
- 41:23client and I was like, let me see if I can get a couple more.
- 41:26I was also working part time at a bridal boutique, so I selling
- 41:29wedding dresses. So I was like, I have that if I
- 41:31need to go full time there or whatever.
- 41:34And I started just kind of reaching out and trying to get
- 41:35more clients and I built up a fairly good client.
- 41:38It was very up and down, especially for the first year
- 41:40which? I feel like for business in
- 41:41general. Right now for sure.
- 41:43And just like making like finding clients and all of that.
- 41:47And I continued doing that while I was then I launched Velcor,
- 41:51but then I, I launched Velcor and I didn't really do much with
- 41:53it for a year. Like I did my first collection
- 41:55and then for a lot of reasons just kind of didn't.
- 41:59I feel motivated to kind of keep doing it and it's.
- 42:01Also kind of intimidating. No, for sure.
- 42:02And I got really focused on the my clients and stuff.
- 42:07And that has kind of been up until my first LA Fashion Week
- 42:13with Velcor, they reached out to do like a show and I was like,
- 42:16OK, like, I guess I'll do another collection.
- 42:18And then I was doing both and it was a lot.
- 42:21But Velcor slowly had been kind of like, I would say up until
- 42:24this year, it was like 80% clients, 20% Velcor for me.
- 42:28And then Velcor just kind of kept like going and growing.
- 42:32And so this year I was like, you know what, I'm going to, I have
- 42:34one or two clients where if they reach out and they really need
- 42:36something, I'll still do it because I love them as people,
- 42:39right? But I pretty much finished up
- 42:41all my clients and now I'm, yeah, fully just focusing.
- 42:44Oh my God, I'm gonna give myself the year to just really go all
- 42:48in on Velcor. Congratulations.
- 42:50Thanks. That's insane.
- 42:50Like I'm so proud of you. Especially like, because I feel
- 42:53like I've known you for like, I would say 2 years now and I'm
- 42:55like, I, I think I told you I was like, I'm watching you grow
- 42:58and it's so exciting and I know this is going to be like the
- 43:01biggest thing ever. So I'm so honored that you're
- 43:04here on Tulu before this even happens.
- 43:07But that's super, super exciting.
- 43:09And I think, you know, I didn't know that about you and Troy,
- 43:11because Troy's one of her best friends.
- 43:13Yeah, he started as a client. Now he's my best friend in the
- 43:15entire world. Wait, I have a quick question
- 43:16about your TikTok. Yeah, so you said he found you.
- 43:19He said he found you on TikTok. So we were researching you and
- 43:25we found a tick tock account that has you all over it.
- 43:29But it's not you. But it's not me.
- 43:31It's not you. So that was my tick tock account
- 43:33and I woke up 1 morning a couple months ago completely locked out
- 43:36of it and now it's like now it's like some weird AI like girl for
- 43:40the profile picture and they're posting like brain rot stuff.
- 43:43But they kept all my videos anyway they somehow got I woke
- 43:46up I had a text at like 2:00 AM and they and it was TikTok being
- 43:49like you try to change your phone number here's the code.
- 43:52Don't you know how they do that again, send the code.
- 43:54But I didn't see it because it was 2:00 AM and I woke up and I
- 43:56was like that's weird but I never typed in the code so we
- 43:58should be fine. Go to open TikTok, fully logged
- 44:01out of everything. Oh my God.
- 44:03I guess somehow they got in, change my phone number, e-mail,
- 44:06everything associated with it. So TikTok is not great when it
- 44:10comes to recovering your account.
- 44:11And also it wasn't, I wasn't like I had like maybe like
- 44:1430,000 followers when they got it.
- 44:16So it's not like I was a massive creator that they were going to
- 44:19like prioritize getting, you know what I mean?
- 44:21Like I was so anyway, and I hadn't been posting in a long
- 44:25time. So they probably thought it was
- 44:26a dead account, but it was a part of the creator fund.
- 44:28So somehow they saw that and took.
- 44:29Anyway, I got hacked. I couldn't because I couldn't
- 44:32log into the account to file the.
- 44:36Complaint. Or whatever or the appeal.
- 44:37You're right, I just couldn't get back and.
- 44:39So I. Really didn't try that hard so
- 44:41now it's their account I guess. Oh my God, you're so chill about
- 44:44it. Yeah, I mean, had I been posting
- 44:46regularly on TikTok? I mean, I am kind of bummed now
- 44:49because I've started getting back into TikTok a little bit
- 44:51more and I have 200 followers. Congratulations on the 200.
- 44:54Thank you, I posted on my story it was supposed to be sarcastic
- 44:56and I'm hoping people have. Really, I was like huge
- 44:59milestone. I hit 200 followers.
- 45:01Oh, I thought you're a dead ass. That's what I was afraid of.
- 45:03Oh my God, no, I thought you were dead ass.
- 45:04I was telling my Co writer I was like she's so cute.
- 45:06Like that was so cute like and I was like 200 is a lot of people
- 45:09and I was I was dead. Ass no, well, because right
- 45:11before that I posted, I was like I hit 120 K on Instagram and
- 45:14then I was like also a bigger milestone 200 vintage and come
- 45:16office. Well, congratulations on your
- 45:19200 on Tiktok. And I love every single one of
- 45:21them as you. Should.
- 45:22Oh my gosh. But yeah, so that Tiktok account
- 45:25is dead. Couldn't get it back.
- 45:26You know what my Co writer was researching You and then he was
- 45:29like I think this is her TikTok and he showed it to me.
- 45:32I was like no it's this other bitch.
- 45:33And then he was like, no. No, these are her.
- 45:35They've always stole it from me. Thieves gone.
- 45:39I'm happy we cleared that up because I was like, yeah, what
- 45:41is I was like, what is this? Yeah, no, that if anyone knows
- 45:44how to get it back, like would love it I guess, but whatever.
- 45:47The Ella Titus TikTok lore is crazy because you also have a
- 45:51doppelganger. Yes, and I love her so much.
- 45:54She's actually so sweet. Her name is also Ella Titus.
- 45:58Hi, Ella. Hi, Ella.
- 45:59We met each other on Instagram. She like DM me one day and she's
- 46:02like, Oh my God, we have the same name.
- 46:03Yeah, no way. What's crazy though is like she
- 46:06we don't look similar, but we don't look not like.
- 46:09She's blonde and like has very fair features.
- 46:12Like I'm going to be so honest with you, when I found her
- 46:14TikTok I dead ass thought it was.
- 46:15You I've had so many people confuse us because.
- 46:17She follows me too, So I was like, yeah.
- 46:18So I was like, oh. And I was like, wait.
- 46:20I've been like working with brands and like doing brand
- 46:22deals with my Instagram and they'll be like, we need a
- 46:24headshot for your thing and they'll send me a picture of her
- 46:26and I'm like, so I'm like, I'm like, I agree.
- 46:29It's a great photo. She looks amazing, but that's
- 46:31not me. I'm like, let me send you one.
- 46:33Or I one time was out at a bar and met a guy and told him my
- 46:38name and I thought I gave him my Instagram, but I must not have.
- 46:42And he DMS me later that like the next day and he's like, Hey,
- 46:45hello, it's really great meeting you.
- 46:47I looked up your Instagram like I see you have a boyfriend, but
- 46:50and I don't want to step on any toes, but like would love to
- 46:52still be friends. And I was like, I don't have a
- 46:54boyfriend. Yeah, you're like what I was
- 46:55like, huh? Yeah.
- 46:55And then I look at his age and I see that he's following her and
- 46:59me. He followed both Elletitis's and
- 47:01he's like, oh, I thought that was just like, he's like, I
- 47:04thought that was your personal account and this is your fashion
- 47:06account. I was like, no, I was like, we
- 47:08don't look that similar. That's great.
- 47:10But no, she's so sweet. So yeah, she used to live in
- 47:12Miami, and when I was doing Miami Swim Week with Troy every
- 47:15summer, I would see her every time I go to Miami.
- 47:18We'd get coffee and like meet up and talk about how our names are
- 47:20the same. But yeah, so she's so.
- 47:22Sweet, I know. It's really it's kind of fun,
- 47:23but I hope she's doing amazing. Her friends are going to be
- 47:26like, oh, I didn't know that you went on a podcast.
- 47:28Like, what are you doing here? But no, she's so sweet.
- 47:31She's so tall. She's an amazing.
- 47:33Like I say, I was a dancer growing up, but not anything
- 47:34like her. She's incredible.
- 47:36She is incredible. We also researched her as well.
- 47:40OK, well we're going to play a quick cute little game with you.
- 47:42OK, this is our game. Claim or rebuke.
- 47:46So claim is you accept it, you want this, and rebuke is you're
- 47:49rejecting it. You do not want this and we're
- 47:51going to wrap the fire. Some topics for you.
- 47:53You can give context for your answers or you could just claim
- 47:56a rebuke. Are you ready?
- 47:59No, no, it's going to be good. You might be scared about this
- 48:01one. OK, ready.
- 48:02The first one is are you claiming you're rebuking
- 48:05becoming first Lady? I knew that's what was going to
- 48:09be. Depends on who the president is.
- 48:14Do you think you'll ever become First Lady?
- 48:16I know why you're asking me this.
- 48:19If it is someone who I cuz you're you're first lady you're
- 48:23married right? OK.
- 48:24If it's someone who I love and I like everything that they are
- 48:28running for, absolutely claim first lady now.
- 48:32Definitely not. It's not my dream, but if that
- 48:36is my partner at the time. Stream Would you rather be
- 48:39president? I mean, yeah, like, I like being
- 48:41in charge, so I feel like I'd rather yeah, but.
- 48:44I think me too. Yeah, but also, but, but
- 48:47actually I don't think I would want to be president.
- 48:49Yeah, like I just seems like I don't know.
- 48:53Yeah, it's a big, big role to fill.
- 48:55Yeah. Delulu, 2028.
- 48:57Can't wait to vote. OK, so right now you're claiming
- 49:00if it's the right partner. Yeah, OK.
- 49:02I'd love to support. How?
- 49:04How? Close Have you been to becoming
- 49:05First Lady? Well, like, so far not.
- 49:12I haven't dated any of the presidential candidates that
- 49:15have run. Let's.
- 49:16Clear that out. Okay yes I have had a partner
- 49:19who one day would love to run for office and I can't wait to
- 49:22vote for him and I don't know if I don't think I will be first
- 49:25lady with him but and that's okay but I can't wait to vote
- 49:28for him and create. You know what, I will vote for
- 49:30him too in solidarity with you if after I find out his, you
- 49:33know, views on things and policies.
- 49:35I think, I think we, I think we'd be good.
- 49:36Not going to speak for him, but I think, oh, really?
- 49:38I think we're yeah. OK, yeah, yeah.
- 49:40Wait, you got my vote. OK, can't wait to vote.
- 49:42For him, well, he's actually my competition for Dilulu 2028.
- 49:45That will be a tough run. For him.
- 49:48OK, so I want you to claim a dream celebrity to design for.
- 49:51Oh. That is, and I get asked this a
- 49:54lot, and I never really know who to say.
- 49:58I mean, Taylor Swift, just because she's like insane and
- 50:01huge and like, that would be like crazy.
- 50:04But also, I don't know if I don't know if you count her, but
- 50:08I love Emma Chamberlain style, actually, and I think she would
- 50:11be fun. Yeah, we count her.
- 50:12Absolutely. She's a guest next week.
- 50:15Oh cool. Well, I don't know, Lana Del Rey
- 50:19would be cool too, just because her music is very much the
- 50:21valcour vibe and. I feel like when you mentioned
- 50:23Taylor, like I feel like with folklore evermore for.
- 50:25Sure. Now, right now, for sure.
- 50:27A whimsical and, like, you know, fairy tale.
- 50:29So Brina would be fun too. She's a little bit different
- 50:31vibe than myself, but I feel like I could.
- 50:33Do would you like adopt her style?
- 50:34I think I'd do like a fun Little Mix like so because like I can
- 50:37do like the cute little like. I mean, I feel like you're like
- 50:41the bows that you have on now. Yeah, I think.
- 50:42She would like, yeah, 100% I think.
- 50:44I don't think it would be that hard to to come up with oh, or
- 50:46Chapel Rome just because she's so fun because like I said, I
- 50:48love doing like costumes and stuff.
- 50:50So I feel like I could get really creative with something
- 50:52for her. OK, with the pieces that you
- 50:53brought behind Ella right now, who would you dress in what?
- 50:58Oh, that's tough. Oh, OK, the jacket.
- 51:05So the jackets could be a guy or a girl.
- 51:08Oh, a guy has good style. I'm also foremost celebrities.
- 51:11I'm secretly like an 80 year old woman at heart.
- 51:13Like I'm like. So my sewing machine constant.
- 51:15Oh yeah. Maybe give it to Cha.
- 51:17No, I would. I would put her in the dress.
- 51:19I would put her in the dress or in the dress.
- 51:20This one normally has like a big skirt that goes underneath it.
- 51:23I feel like Chapel. This one's very like it's a
- 51:25little edgier. I think that'd be good for.
- 51:26Her totally. I can see that.
- 51:27I can also see Sabrina in that. Yeah, I could see like Gracie
- 51:29Abrams and. That's gorgeous that that one's
- 51:32a wedding. Dress.
- 51:33It is technically a wedding dress, yeah, but I mean.
- 51:35Just wear it, yeah. Just wear it, wear it around.
- 51:38OK, Well, I like that. Yeah.
- 51:40With a jacket. I feel like anyone with like
- 51:41cool St. wear Yeah. Style, maybe.
- 51:43I don't know. Is this one the girl with the
- 51:46Pearl earring? Yeah, it is.
- 51:48Oh my God, can we see it? Yeah.
- 51:53This one's fun. This one took forever.
- 51:55Oh my God, that's gorgeous. Wait, you're so talented?
- 51:57Thanks. So this one took forever.
- 51:59Yeah. Yeah.
- 52:01No, it's fun. Yeah.
- 52:01This is one of my favorite paintings and so I just wanted
- 52:03to put it on a jacket. I love this too.
- 52:05Thank you. It's fun.
- 52:06So like every single color is a different piece of fabric that I
- 52:09like so. No fucking so I. 1st I first I
- 52:13printed out a picture of the painting and then I had to scale
- 52:16it up because the printer paper was anyway.
- 52:19So I processed. I hand drew it like from looking
- 52:22at it, I like drew it larger and then my drawing I like sectioned
- 52:26out into where the colors would go.
- 52:28Turned that into a little pattern and then cut out.
- 52:31I think it's like 150 pattern pieces.
- 52:33Damn, you're so talented. Thanks.
- 52:35I think I'm just crazy. Like I think I'm just insane.
- 52:39But yeah. And then like you so like
- 52:40everywhere where like there's a different colour, it's a seam.
- 52:44So you sew that together and then I put it on the batting and
- 52:46like quilted over it. Oh my God, it's so beautiful.
- 52:49Thanks. OK, who's going to wear this?
- 52:52I could see Taylor. I could see Taylor like an 89
- 52:54era. I would say yeah, for sure.
- 52:55Like a little casual vibe. Totally.
- 52:57Fun. Yeah.
- 52:58OK, we'll give it to Taylor. Sweet.
- 53:00OK. Yay.
- 53:01So are we claiming A rebuking ballet?
- 53:04You're actually a ballet dancer. Very well trained.
- 53:08You also do Pilates and you teach yoga.
- 53:12So that's the other Ella. Not you.
- 53:15I don't teach Pilates, I'm not that good, but I did grow up as
- 53:18a ballet. Dancer The other alletitis is
- 53:20that she. Definitely should claim it.
- 53:21She's amazing at all of that. I would love.
- 53:25Getting a lot of love on this. Show she well we love her, she's
- 53:27so nice. But which is funny she like
- 53:30texted me as I was like sitting in here.
- 53:32I was so randomly out of the blue.
- 53:33I haven't talked to her in a long time and she just happened
- 53:34to text me. That's what.
- 53:35She knew 'cause I wrote her into the show.
- 53:37There we go. There you go.
- 53:38Hi, Ella. Hey, but no, I I would
- 53:42definitely claim that. I've actually been thinking I
- 53:43would love to get back into it. So I think, I think it's hard to
- 53:46find like adult ballet glasses. Do you?
- 53:49Have time though. No.
- 53:50So that's why I haven't done it. If I had time, I would love to
- 53:53get back. I love dancing and I really miss
- 53:55it a lot. It just doesn't really make
- 53:58sense with my I like fashion more.
- 53:59It's like, I'm not going to. I got it pause fashion to try to
- 54:03dance. You found what you love and
- 54:04you're. Going with it, yeah, but for
- 54:05fun. Would love to claim ballet
- 54:07again. Oh yeah, maybe you and Elder
- 54:08Ella Twin could do it together. There we go.
- 54:10Absolutely. She can teach you.
- 54:11She. She could definitely teach me
- 54:12there. You go, yeah, OK.
- 54:14Are we claiming A rebuking Project Runway?
- 54:17Oh, I would love to claim that one.
- 54:18Yeah, I would. I would.
- 54:21I think it'd be such a fun show. I also, I love the idea of like
- 54:26the challenge of it, 'cause they're making, well, I don't
- 54:29know, I, I don't know they make something in what they have like
- 54:32a day or two to make a look. I just I know nothing about
- 54:34Project Runway. Yeah.
- 54:35So they get like a challenge for the week and then they have
- 54:38normally it's like a day or two days to make the whole thing and
- 54:41then they do a runway and then the judges vote someone off if
- 54:43they don't like their thing. OK.
- 54:44Which is like the whole point is that it's really high stakes and
- 54:47stressful. I was.
- 54:47Gonna say are you getting under pressure?
- 54:49Yeah, so I kind of live my life as a project.
- 54:52I was gonna. Say I was like, I mean, you'd be
- 54:53procrastinating so I feel. Like I currently feel like I'm
- 54:56on Project Runway because I'm making an 18 piece collection
- 54:59and basically 30 days. Yeah, it's not the first.
- 55:01Time on top of all my other like I have brides and like clients
- 55:04right now it's like on top of everything else yeah so I feel
- 55:06like honestly, I would thrive because I feel like I have been
- 55:10training I've been training for it yeah, I've been training for
- 55:12Project Runway so I would love call me next season.
- 55:15OK, yeah. Wait, Project Runway?
- 55:18Hit us up. Hit me up and I'll.
- 55:20Pass it to her. I'll do it.
- 55:22Fuck it, we. Can go on as a team.
- 55:24Yeah, Oh my God, I'd be really good at that.
- 55:27I'm also great under pressure. OK, so we're going to do another
- 55:31segment here. OK, this is WWADGD, which is
- 55:34what would a delulu girl do? We have our followers submit
- 55:38questions, concerns, situations and dilemmas and they want our
- 55:41advice for. It OK, I love giving advice.
- 55:44I don't know. I don't know.
- 55:45I'm good. I wouldn't say I don't know.
- 55:46I'm good at giving advice, but I love to give it.
- 55:48We're about to find out. OK so our first question is from
- 55:52an anonymous delulu we have. I have a crush on my coworker
- 55:56and I'm not sure how they feel about me.
- 55:58Do I tell them? Would I risk it being oco Taco?
- 56:03Okay that's tough considering like I said I've never really
- 56:05had like a regular job so I don't have coworkers.
- 56:08My only real coworkers is I've worked at the bridal boutique
- 56:11where I was selling wedding dresses.
- 56:13Worked with some really lovely women, loved them but I never
- 56:16had a crush on any of them. And then I worked at a dance
- 56:19store growing up and same thing. So you've never been in this
- 56:23situation? Not really, no.
- 56:24OK. What would you do though?
- 56:27I would. You know what?
- 56:28Depends on the job. Like if it's a corporate job,
- 56:30that's could be messy. A little HR situation.
- 56:33In a coffee shop, like with someone and like, it's a little
- 56:36bit like, yeah, maybe more relaxed than how much do you
- 56:39like him? Interesting.
- 56:41You know what I'm a huge fan of? Telling people I feel OK fair,
- 56:43giant fan of that. So like to be honest exactly
- 56:46what you said. I haven't worked a traditional
- 56:48job in like 5 years so I actually wouldn't know that
- 56:50circumstance. Or the situation I.
- 56:53Don't know either so the Lulu HR teams like panicking right now.
- 56:59But yeah, I think because I think it's also not like great
- 57:04to really hold in your thoughts and.
- 57:06Feelings. No, I'm a huge fan of telling.
- 57:07People, if you can tell them how you feel without risking your
- 57:12job, go for it. Oh my gosh, yeah.
- 57:16But maybe I. Don't get fired.
- 57:17OK, you know what, let's let's extrapolate the situation.
- 57:20OK, let's say you're doing like you're doing your fashion,
- 57:22right? Yeah, it's someone you're
- 57:23working with creatively. Like what would you do if you
- 57:25follow type of way about them? I mean, I I guess it also is
- 57:28kind of like reading the room, like if it were like a model or
- 57:31something, I think that would be unprofessional because
- 57:33technically I'm the one bringing them on like hiring like then
- 57:36it's I'm not there boss, but like, yeah, but it is a like
- 57:40that feels like. Personal to me.
- 57:42Yeah, 100% if I was like collaborating on a collection
- 57:45with another designer and like started to feel some type of way
- 57:49like I don't really see AII like to not mix work and like dating
- 57:55just cuz I think I don't like burning bridges or like it could
- 57:58get messy but it could also not. You're so responsible, I.
- 58:01Try but like who knows? But but I mean, again, I've
- 58:05never really had this happen so I have no idea.
- 58:07But I again, I think if it's not going to put my career at stake
- 58:12or really hurt anyone or cause a ton of drama, then I think it's
- 58:17OK. That's how I feel too.
- 58:18I'm very like, I'm always like career first.
- 58:21So I'm always like, if it's going to do something to harm my
- 58:24career, it has to be nipped in the ass, you know what I mean?
- 58:27Or I can't do it. Yeah.
- 58:28Which I get and like. Yeah.
- 58:30Like or like, even like dating another design.
- 58:32Like. I like the idea.
- 58:33I like dating people who are really passionate about what
- 58:35they do. Yeah.
- 58:36And I love. Creatives, yeah.
- 58:37And I, yeah, me too. And creatives, maybe if I were
- 58:40to date a designer, I just probably wouldn't have our
- 58:41brands collab and like keep that a little.
- 58:44I don't know. I have no idea.
- 58:46So the Lulu core is not happening.
- 58:49So sorry. Well, we can collab, we just
- 58:52can't fall in love. OK, well, I I can't promise
- 58:54that. Ella.
- 58:54Me. Neither.
- 58:56Actually, I was the one who asked this question because you
- 58:58model for me. So he's like, am I allowed to
- 59:02tell you how I feel? This is actually me telling you
- 59:04how I feel. Oh my gosh, I'm so flattered.
- 59:08You can't reject me on my show. You're.
- 59:09Right. Yeah, you don't take me on a
- 59:11good date and we'll see. Let's go.
- 59:13OK, All right. We have another one.
- 59:15OK, so this one's not from me. This is from another anonymous
- 59:18to Lulu. We have My friends are hanging
- 59:20out without me. What should I do?
- 59:22Or drop them. Yeah, I think that's the worst,
- 59:24Yeah. I mean, obviously there's always
- 59:26contacts. Like, did they hang out with you
- 59:28once? Because like, you were out of
- 59:29town and you know what I like? Yeah.
- 59:31What are the circumstances? What are the circumstances?
- 59:33But if they're just like they're.
- 59:34They're purposely like if they're.
- 59:36Purposely excluding you? Then they're not your friends
- 59:39100% unless you did something like really shitty to them and
- 59:42they have like a good reason but.
- 59:43True, but I would at that point I would still drop.
- 59:45Them, but still drop them. Yeah, if they're like
- 59:46purposefully excluding you in a malicious way, like, yeah, you
- 59:50don't need to deal with that. How would you be able to tell if
- 59:52it's malicious or not? What do you think?
- 59:54I mean, I'm like, I think talk to them about it and be like,
- 59:57hey, what happened? I think you can also kind of
- 59:59feel a vibe. You can totally feel a vibe.
- 1:00:01I'm like thinking of it as like female friendships can get.
- 1:00:05Either really amazing or can get caddy if it's the wrong like
- 1:00:08I've definitely had my fair share of like not great friends.
- 1:00:10Name them right now. So no, I no, but but but like
- 1:00:16and like, you know, like especially like especially like
- 1:00:18through high school and stuff. Just like girls can be mean.
- 1:00:21And so I think you can definitely feel a vibe if if
- 1:00:24they're excluding you to be mean or if they.
- 1:00:27Just I think you're like, only thought you were.
- 1:00:28Busy yeah feel the vibe I. Feel like I thought you were
- 1:00:31busy. Which can also.
- 1:00:32Be it is, yeah. So yeah, feel the vibe but.
- 1:00:36Drop their ass. But yeah, if you feel bad about
- 1:00:37it, drop them. Drop their ass.
- 1:00:39Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:00:39OK, so this one's from Anonymous Bestie.
- 1:00:43My boyfriend's always hang out with his best friend and I hate
- 1:00:46him. What would we do?
- 1:00:51I would sabotage the friendship so they would dedicate all their
- 1:00:54time to me. So.
- 1:00:56Oh, is that is that a bad thing to say?
- 1:00:57No. That's that's your Vine bad.
- 1:01:00I think that interesting. I mean, I have always tried to
- 1:01:03be really careful and because I've hadn't had that happen in
- 1:01:05relationships where like they were hanging out with a friend
- 1:01:07that like I maybe either didn't love or like didn't love their
- 1:01:10behavior with that friend or things like that.
- 1:01:13I've always been really careful to not.
- 1:01:15I don't want to be the person who's like you can't hang out
- 1:01:17with this person. But I think if you really, I
- 1:01:21think really clearly define your boundaries with that him and
- 1:01:24that friend and then if boundaries are overstepped, then
- 1:01:27I think it's probably time to move on or like.
- 1:01:29That is so so do you mean move on from like this boyfriend this
- 1:01:33partner or move on from like the situation?
- 1:01:35It depends on like how strong the boundaries are.
- 1:01:37But like I don't I cuz I don't think it's fair to tell a
- 1:01:40partner like you can't be friends with that person unless
- 1:01:43something crazy happens. But but I think that if you're
- 1:01:48like I have told you how I feel and like I said you could still
- 1:01:50be friends with them. But I have these boundaries.
- 1:01:52You're so grown and evolved and mature.
- 1:01:54I mean, I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:01:57But then I but then I think it's like if, if boundaries aren't
- 1:01:59being respected, then it's like either talk more about I.
- 1:02:02I think it depends on the situation, but I think at that
- 1:02:05point. I'll sprinkle the manipulation
- 1:02:07in and I would make sure that like.
- 1:02:09This isn't flash of guys tires and you can't come over anymore.
- 1:02:12I mean, flash of guys tires and then blame it on someone else.
- 1:02:16We got, we got a little plots and plans happening over here.
- 1:02:18So ruffled a little feathers. I I know I'm going to I'm going
- 1:02:23to hear about that one. OK.
- 1:02:25Well, Ella, we've gone to know you so much during this entire
- 1:02:29podcast and I've actually been trying to clock like, I don't
- 1:02:32know your Zodiac sign. Actually, I don't think I know
- 1:02:34your birthday either. So I've been trying to figure
- 1:02:37out what your Zodiac sign is. And for any listeners at home
- 1:02:40with everything about Ella that we've learned, go ahead and make
- 1:02:43a guess. So I'm going to give some
- 1:02:45qualities that I've picked up on.
- 1:02:47I think you're a hustler. You're hard working.
- 1:02:49You do. I don't want to say you
- 1:02:50procrastinate, but you get overwhelmed and you push things
- 1:02:53off a little bit. OK, yes, you're a big dreamer.
- 1:02:57You also seem really grounded and, you know, very, very
- 1:03:00humble. So I think I have two guesses
- 1:03:04here and I feel like I'm either going to be completely right
- 1:03:06about both of them. I'm going to be so.
- 1:03:08Far off. OK, I'm excited.
- 1:03:10Oh God. OK, I'm going to start best.
- 1:03:12Do you have a guess? I'm going to give you a second
- 1:03:14to guess. Good guess.
- 1:03:16OK. My guess is I'm going to go for
- 1:03:18it. I think you're I think you're a
- 1:03:19Taurus. No, Fuck I wait.
- 1:03:22You're a Scorpio. No, OK.
- 1:03:23I don't know. I'm a Libra.
- 1:03:25Oh my God. Which like I I'll be honest, I
- 1:03:27don't know much about like the Zodiac signs and stuff, but.
- 1:03:29You're so Libra. That's that's what I've been
- 1:03:31told and that's every time you have an.
- 1:03:32Aphrodite. Oh, thank you.
- 1:03:34You have an Aphrodite vibe. Thank you.
- 1:03:35And so does your work. Thank you.
- 1:03:36Yeah, no for. Sure, Oh my God, because like
- 1:03:38Libra's Robai Venus and that's romance and beauty and love and
- 1:03:42like, I feel like I could see that in your.
- 1:03:43Work. No, for sure, yeah.
- 1:03:44I should have said Libra. OK, but everything I've ever
- 1:03:46read about Libras, I'm like yeah, that, that makes sense.
- 1:03:49Totally. I can see that too.
- 1:03:51Oh my gosh damn. Hey, it's OK.
- 1:03:54But do you know my zodiacs? I have no idea.
- 1:03:55Oh do. You want to guess?
- 1:03:56I don't even know if. I could list them all probably
- 1:03:59like a what are because I I know.
- 1:04:03About I told you earlier. You did today.
- 1:04:06Yeah, on this show. Why do you want to guess?
- 1:04:11No, I promise I was listening the whole time.
- 1:04:14I believe you. Taurus.
- 1:04:17No, Virgo. Wait, you got your Virgo?
- 1:04:19OK, Yeah, I've heard you say that before.
- 1:04:21OK, there you go. Yes, I'm a Virgo mean as a
- 1:04:23Taurus. OK.
- 1:04:24OK. So that's where you got.
- 1:04:26The Taurus energy, you got the. Energy OK OK OK, I can totally
- 1:04:29see Libra for you. That makes sense and Libras are
- 1:04:31so fucking beautiful so. Thanks, I love being a Libra
- 1:04:34from what I've heard about it. Oh.
- 1:04:36My God, I love Libras. I love, love, love, love Libras.
- 1:04:38I think I love every sign actually, but I really love
- 1:04:40Libras. I think they're really beautiful
- 1:04:42and I think they have a good like actually, you know, I take
- 1:04:44it back. Libras can be kind of annoying.
- 1:04:46Like, you know what? You are such a Libra because
- 1:04:48then you're like you. Are like, really annoying.
- 1:04:50You're like, not that actually, yeah.
- 1:04:52You're Libra derogatory because to be honest, like literally
- 1:04:55you're like, you're like, oh, but maybe the situation you're
- 1:04:58like, oh, but let's give grace or you don't know how this is
- 1:05:01happening. Yeah, that's so Libra of you
- 1:05:04little mediator. Yeah, OK, very Libra.
- 1:05:06I should have. It's OK.
- 1:05:08That's a good quality. I'm glad I stumped you.
- 1:05:10You did. You got me.
- 1:05:11Guessing a little mystery. You got me.
- 1:05:13Good. Damn.
- 1:05:14I like that. OK, well, Ella, we close out
