- 1:22I have been a certified fitness trainer and certified life coach since 2002.
- 1:28On this channel, we talk about healthy habits, having a growth mindset, fitness and even some Reality Transurfing.
- 1:36Let's get into the episode.
- 1:39This concept of going beyond the expected or required effort has become an essential characteristic of high achievers.
- 1:47Going the extra mile is a combination of a positive attitude and dedication, and can quite honestly be very easy to do.
- 1:55It means doing more than what is expected, exceeding expectations, and consistently putting in extra effort to achieve a goal or task.
- 2:05Going the extra mile is not just about putting in more hours, but it also involves an attitude of excellence, a willingness to take on challenges, and a commitment to do things with a high level of excellence.
- 2:19It is about going beyond the minimum requirements and striving to be the best in everything that you do.
- 2:27Now this may sound difficult and I get that.
- 2:30And if you put a lot of pressure on yourself, it will be difficult.
- 2:34That is why I recommend making flow a priority in your life because when you come from a place of flow, which is where challenge meets skill, you will find this to be easy.
- 2:46Flow is a different style of doing things, and you will find this helping you to go a very.
- 2:53Way.
- 2:54I will have a link in the show notes and description below that.
- 2:58Talk about an article that I wrote on flow..
- 3:03The virtue of going the extra mile is something that can be implied in all areas of life.
- 3:09You know, think of the following, when considering going the extra mile as a virtue your career life, your personal life, your relationships, and going the extra mile.
- 3:21And these areas can make a significant difference.
- 3:25For example, in your career, going the extra mile could mean staying late to complete a project, going beyond your job description, to assist a colleague or consistently striving to improve your skills and knowledge.
- 3:38In your personal life going the extra mile might mean taking the time to help a friend in need, showing appreciation for others or consistently showing up for loved ones.
- 3:48And when you come from a place of flow, you will find this to be easy, not hard, and no burnout will be involved.
- 3:58Going the extra mile requires a mindset that focuses on the bigger picture and not just the immediate task at hand.
- 4:05It means being proactive and seeking out opportunities to make a positive impact.
- 4:10A person with the mindset of going the extra mile does not wait for someone else to take action, but rather takes the initiative to create the positive change.
- 4:22The mindset of going the extra mile can also be seen as a form of leadership.
- 4:26Leaders are individuals who are willing to take risks, be innovative, and inspire others to achieve more than they thought that was possible.
- 4:36When you go the extra mile, you become a leader in your own right.
- 4:39Setting an example for others to follow and inspiring them to be the best they can be.
- 4:47So what does Napoleon Hill say about going the extra mile?
- 4:52He was a strong advocate for going the extra mile, and in his book, the Law of a Success, he dedicated an entire chapter to the topic, emphasizing the importance of going above and beyond what is expected.
- 5:07Actually, this is exactly where I came up with the idea of using this virtue of the week.
- 5:14According to Hill going the extra mile involves the willingness to put in extra effort to do more than what is required or expected, and to focus on delivering a high level of service or quality.
- 5:27Hill believed that going the extra mile is a characteristic of successful people.
- 5:33And those who consistently practice it are more likely to achieve their goals and dreams.
- 5:39In the book, the Law of Success Hill shared several stories of successful individuals who had gone the extra mile and reaped the rewards of their efforts.
- 5:49He also emphasized that going the extra mile is not just about working hard, thank goodness, but it also requires a positive mental attitude, a willingness to serve others, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
- 6:04He taught us that those who adopt the mindset of going the extra mile are more likely to attract opportunities and create success in their lives.
- 6:13He wrote this, the habit of going the extra mile is the difference between the average person and the successful person.
- 6:21It is the difference between mediocrity and excellence.
- 6:27Talk about a powerful quote right there.
- 6:30Napoleon Hill believed that going the extra mile is a vital concept for achieving success in life.
- 6:35By putting in extra effort, focusing on delivering a higher level of service and adopting a positive mindset, individuals can create more opportunities for themselves and achieve their goals and dreams.
- 6:49So what he wrote in there made me instantly go to the book, the Slight Edge, and that's what we're gonna talk about next.
- 6:57Jeff Olson is the author of the book, the Slight Edge, and he also emphasizes the importance of going the extra mile in his book.
- 7:04And I found his book helpful and thought that his concepts would be a great way to provide further input on this virtue.
- 7:13Because Jeff Olson teaches us that small, consistent actions over time can create huge results.
- 7:19And going the extra mile is one of those small actions that can make a big difference.
- 7:25And in my opinion, this makes this easy, which is why I included this as a method to help us to go the extra mile.
- 7:34In this book olson explains that going the extra mile is about doing just a little bit more than what is expected or required.
- 7:44It's about taking a little extra time, putting in a little more effort or doing something a little bit better than usual.
- 7:51These small, incremental improvements can compound over time and create significant results.
- 7:59He states that going the extra mile is a habit that successful people practice consistently.
- 8:04He writes The difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is that successful people are willing to do the things that unsuccessful people are not willing to do.
- 8:15They are willing to go the extra mile.
- 8:19Olson also notes that going the extra mile requires a shift in mindset.
- 8:24It's about choosing to take responsibility for your own success and committing to do whatever it takes to achieve your goals.
- 8:33I just talked about responsibility the other day.
- 8:36I will have a link in the show notes and the description to the article that includes the video and podcast episode on responsibility,.
- 8:44But this responsibility requires a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, to take risks and be persistent and consistent in the face of challenges and obstacles.
- 8:56In the slight edge, Olson provides numerous examples of individuals who have achieved success by going the extra mile from business leaders to athletes to everyday people.
- 9:07He shows us how this simple habit can create a significant.
- 9:12Edge in any area of life.

- 9:21By consistently doing a little bit more than what is expected or required, individuals can create a significant results over time, and it requires a shift in mindset and a willingness to take responsibility for your own success.
