- 0:01Speaker 1: I love that you did this.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Obviously, it was Labor Day yesterday. And so the kids
- 0:05Speaker 2: were off school. Mikey, who's a teacher, was off school.
- 0:08Speaker 2: But like the world keeps turning. So I was here
- 0:12Speaker 2: doing my Labor Day shift.
- 0:14Speaker 3: And then we had other stuff we wanted to do.
- 0:15Speaker 3: So they just came with me. OK, so whatever. I'm
- 0:18Speaker 3: doing my thing.
- 0:20Speaker 2: And they didn't even mean it in like, oh, what
- 0:23Speaker 2: you do looks easy.
- 0:25Speaker 3: But just kind of like I could probably do that.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I could probably do what mom does on air.
- 0:31Speaker 1: In theory, you're pushing a button.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Right.
- 0:33Speaker 1: And then you just begin to talk.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Yes.
- 0:35Speaker 1: In the most basic level.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 0:37Speaker 2: So I was like, okay, let's put this to the test.
- 0:41Speaker 2: And I let each of them, Mikey, Aiden, and Liam,
- 0:46Speaker 2: I let each of them do their thing as though
- 0:49Speaker 2: they were me.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I was like, pretend you're me.
- 0:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:51Speaker 2: And then do just one little talking segment.
- 0:56Speaker 3: So let me tell you. These are my favorite thing ever,
- 1:00Speaker 3: so naturally we have to share. So this is Liam.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Okay, this would be Liam as a Big 98.7 host.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:09Speaker 6: Hi, it's the Big 98.7 show, and Labor Day is here.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Happy birthday. Hey, we give birthday shout-outs.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Yeah, but I was like, sir, what? And he's like,
- 1:22Speaker 3: I don't know what to say at the end.
- 1:25Speaker 2: So happy birthday it is. Okay, so now here's Aiden.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Today's variety, big 98.7.
- 1:33Speaker 6: Hope you guys are having a great Labor Day weekend,
- 1:37Speaker 6: and hopefully you don't have to do any labor yourself.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm Angie, and goodbye. You know what? I did like
- 1:42Speaker 1: the line in there.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I liked it, too.
- 1:45Speaker 2: What I thought was funny was afterwards, When I was like, okay, Mikey,
- 1:48Speaker 2: it's your turn.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Aiden goes, wait, no, no, no. I want to do
- 1:51Speaker 3: it again. I want to do it again.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And I was like, that's the beauty of it. You
- 1:55Speaker 2: can't do it again.
- 1:57Speaker 1: You don't get another shot.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't get another shot.
- 1:59Speaker 2: And so finally, Mikey did his take on the weather.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Fargo, Moorhead.
- 2:07Speaker 4: It's the big 98.7 and it's 83 degrees outside.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Isn't that nice? It's a nice Labor Day weekend. Oh,
- 2:15Speaker 1: that's not terrible.
- 2:16Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Afterwards, he was like, I didn't even say the big 98.7
- 2:21Speaker 2: morning show.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I just said it's the big 98.7.
- 2:25Speaker 2: All that to say, even if it sounds like it's
- 2:28Speaker 2: super easy, it's harder than you think.
- 2:30Speaker 1: That's right.
- 2:31Speaker 5: I think that's the trick because I've had buddies like
- 2:33Speaker 5: want to do that as well and just try it.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It is kind of interesting.
- 2:37Speaker 5: It's the starting and the stopping that people who have
- 2:40Speaker 5: never done this.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 5: Always struggle the most with. I do like that line.
- 2:44Speaker 5: I'm going to borrow that for next year's Labor Day, though.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Hopefully you didn't have to do any labor yourself.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Celebrating life's little victories. Victory.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Every morning we practice gratitude on Big 98.7. If I could,
- 2:59Speaker 4: I would.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Keep this feeling in a plastic jar. Bust it out
- 3:02Speaker 1: whenever someone's acting hard. I just really needed a win,
- 3:05Speaker 1: you know. Share your little victories with us at 701-280-1987.
- 3:11Speaker 5: Angie, do you have a little victory from your Labor
- 3:14Speaker 5: Day weekend?
- 3:15Speaker 2: We had a family date and went to go see
- 3:18Speaker 2: Coyote vs.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Acme in theaters and it was so fun.
- 3:22Speaker 2: That movie is fun and what I like is that
- 3:26Speaker 2: It got saved from being just scrapped. Like there was
- 3:28Speaker 2: the whole they made the movie and then I was like,
- 3:31Speaker 2: and we're not even going to release this in theaters.
- 3:33Speaker 2: But people banded together and they posted and they tweeted
- 3:37Speaker 2: and all the things saying, no, give us Coyote versus
- 3:39Speaker 2: Acme in theaters.
- 3:41Speaker 3: And so we got it.
- 3:43Speaker 2: And I think it looks like they're going to at
- 3:45Speaker 2: the very least break even or actually make some money
- 3:49Speaker 2: on it. But even at the end of the credits,
- 3:52Speaker 2: there's like a thank you note to everyone who pushed
- 3:55Speaker 2: for this movie to be released in theaters.
- 3:57Speaker 3: And honestly, it was so fun. It was funny.
- 4:00Speaker 2: The Looney Tunes gags, I feel like they still hit.
- 4:04Speaker 2: And Mikey was really excited because, you know, he's old
- 4:07Speaker 2: and he watched Looney Tunes like in their first iteration. Right.
- 4:12Speaker 1: He's seen the original black and white version.
- 4:16Speaker 2: But yeah, it was just a good family time to
- 4:19Speaker 2: watch the movie.
- 4:19Speaker 3: And I feel like there are these stretches of time
- 4:22Speaker 3: where we can't really.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Go to the movies to satisfy everybody's like genre and
- 4:28Speaker 2: like how old they are, because I've got an almost
- 4:31Speaker 2: 16-year-old and a 9-year-old, and they can't be watching the
- 4:33Speaker 2: same thing sometimes. So it's nice when you find a
- 4:36Speaker 2: movie that everybody can enjoy as a family.
- 4:39Speaker 3: So that was nice.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I have not even heard of this movie.
- 4:42Speaker 3: What? It's so good. What is it? Wild E.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Coyote sues Acme for all of those products that he
- 4:51Speaker 2: tries to use to catch the Roadrunner, but they always
- 4:53Speaker 2: backfire on him.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Like, that's the gag.
- 4:54Speaker 1: It's always falling off mountains and stuff.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And Will Forte is in it. John Cena is in it. Like,
- 5:01Speaker 3: it's a legit movie, and it was great.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I don't even think I've seen any, like, promo for
- 5:07Speaker 1: this at all.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Well, they were trying to shelve it. They were trying
- 5:10Speaker 2: to not even have it come out. So it was,
- 5:12Speaker 2: I recommend. I thought it was a great time.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Good for you for supporting the arts.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right. What about you, Gabe? What's your little victory?
- 5:19Speaker 5: My little victory yesterday on Labor Day, my wife, my dog,
- 5:23Speaker 5: my daughter, and myself went to, I believe it's pronounced
- 5:28Speaker 5: Ewen Park. OK, which is a park that Corey and
- 5:32Speaker 5: I have driven past. I'm not even kidding. Thousands of times. OK,
- 5:37Speaker 5: it's off of like university and we have driven past
- 5:41Speaker 5: like we need to.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Like go there one of these days and just never
- 5:44Speaker 1: made it.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Well, on Monday, we had a little extra time on
- 5:47Speaker 5: our hands and we're like, all right, we're going to
- 5:49Speaker 5: take the kid and the dog for a walk. And
- 5:51Speaker 5: really what it is, is it's kind of more of
- 5:53Speaker 5: like just a disc golf course with a walking path
- 5:56Speaker 5: on it.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Oh, that's cool. You love disc golf.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I do, yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 5: So it was very cool to go see, and now
- 6:02Speaker 5: I can finally say, like, oh, I've been there.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Okay, well, I want to go there, too. Thanks for
- 6:06Speaker 3: the heads up.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it was very, very cool.
- 6:08Speaker 5: And just an awesome-looking disc golf course, by the way,
- 6:11Speaker 5: for anybody who enjoys disc golf.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Go check it out.
- 6:15Speaker 5: And it was just kind of a fun family Monday
- 6:17Speaker 5: at the park for the gliddons yesterday.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Drop it, drop it.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Big 98.7. Now, according to the calendar, it is not.
- 6:25Speaker 5: the official start of fall, but we all know when
- 6:29Speaker 5: Labor Day comes and goes, it's fall.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And Angie, do you want to know how I want
- 6:34Speaker 1: to celebrate fall today?
- 6:35Speaker 3: I'm concerned, but sure.
- 6:37Speaker 5: I have compiled a list of some artists, some musicians,
- 6:41Speaker 5: some musical acts, and we're going to hear what they
- 6:44Speaker 5: would sound like if they were falling down some steps, okay?
- 6:48Speaker 3: You are a ridiculous human.
- 6:50Speaker 6: All right.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Take a listen. Who would this be, Angie? Ah! Ah!
- 6:57Speaker 1: Happy unofficial start to fall.
- 7:00Speaker 3: That's Michael Jackson.
- 7:01Speaker 1: That is Michael Jackson. Who is this? Oh, went down, down, down.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I fell. Johnny Cash.
- 7:12Speaker 1: That is Johnny Cash. We are celebrating the unofficial start
- 7:15Speaker 1: of fall today. Who would this be falling down some steps? Mama!
- 7:26Speaker 3: Okay. Freddie Mercury.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Did the ending give it away there?
- 7:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Okay. How about this? Who is this falling down some steps?
- 7:40Speaker 5: I have one more for you as we celebrate the
- 7:42Speaker 5: unofficial start of fall.
- 7:44Speaker 3: We are so. That's good old Whitney.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Someone had way too much time on his hands.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I love it.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Happy unofficial official first day of fall here from the
- 7:59Speaker 5: Big 98.7 Morning Show. Well, I got some kind of
- 8:07Speaker 5: scary news for you, but streaming prices are rising more
- 8:12Speaker 5: than cable and much faster than the rate of inflation.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Since 2022, streaming prices have jumped more than three times
- 8:21Speaker 5: the rate of inflation, to be exact.
- 8:23Speaker 1: What?
- 8:24Speaker 5: Which, as you've probably noticed, is pretty high itself right now.
- 8:28Speaker 5: For example, Apple TV launched at $ 4. 99 a month back
- 8:34Speaker 5: in 2019.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I literally just got charged. Is it at $ 12. 99 right now?
- 8:38Speaker 1: It's tripled. So do you have commercials? That might be
- 8:41Speaker 1: why it's $ 12. 99.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 5: Disney launched the same year at $ 6. 99 without ads. Now
- 8:47Speaker 5: it's $ 12 with ads. And then finally, Netflix is up
- 8:50Speaker 5: like 125%. I'm not even making that number up.
- 8:52Speaker 3: 125% since 2013.
- 8:52Speaker 5: The cheapest tier of Paramount Plus is up over 80%.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Over the past five years, everything is cyclical.
- 9:12Speaker 5: We're all going to be watching basic cable again at
- 9:15Speaker 5: some point because we can't afford streaming.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Paramount Plus just charged and it charged me $ 15.
- 9:19Speaker 3: 44.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Do you know off the top of your head if
- 9:23Speaker 5: you could add all of them up that you have?
- 9:26Speaker 1: Bro, way too much. Do you want to know the number?
- 9:29Speaker 3: No, fine. Tell me.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Well, I'm asking you. I don't know what it is. Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 3: No, you know what?
- 9:33Speaker 2: I feel like I should because it's getting to the
- 9:36Speaker 2: point where I'll check my bank statement, which I hate
- 9:40Speaker 2: to do in general, but it'll be like little charge,
- 9:42Speaker 2: little charge.
- 9:43Speaker 3: And it's like, I know this is adding up.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I know.
- 9:45Speaker 3: But the problem is.
- 9:47Speaker 2: You can't just decide, okay, fine, I'll just go to
- 9:50Speaker 2: cable because it'll be cheaper in the long run because
- 9:53Speaker 2: they do not have the things on cable that they
- 9:56Speaker 2: have on these streaming services, and they know that. And
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's why I keep paying $ 525, 600 for streaming.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Well, if you have all eight Of the major streaming services.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:10Speaker 5: You know what's crazy? We might have all eight of them.
- 10:13Speaker 5: So I'm kind of bummed to know this number. Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 5: If you have all eight, it costs $ 151 a month
- 10:21Speaker 5: for all of these without ads or bundle commitment. So
- 10:24Speaker 5: if you have the ads, first off, if you don't
- 10:28Speaker 5: have ads, you're rich. If you have the ads, it's
- 10:31Speaker 5: still a gajillion dollars.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I was watching at my sister's one day. We were
- 10:36Speaker 2: watching Peacock. And we were watching a Love Island something.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And there were no ads.
- 10:42Speaker 3: And I was like, you rich.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, right. You're rich.
- 10:44Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 10:45Speaker 2: And she was like, well, this is someone else's account.
- 10:48Speaker 6: Right.
- 10:49Speaker 5: There is a trick to doing this. If you did
- 10:51Speaker 5: want to be able to watch your favorite shows. And
- 10:54Speaker 5: the trick is to sadly. cycle through them if you
- 10:58Speaker 5: really want to save money it's find the one that
- 11:00Speaker 5: you're using for that month and you realize you know
- 11:03Speaker 5: i haven't used hulu a lot the past two months
- 11:06Speaker 5: is to just cancel it and not get hulu back
- 11:08Speaker 5: until you need it or netflix or you know vice
- 11:11Speaker 5: versa if you could only pick one for this month
- 11:14Speaker 5: okay it's september 8th we're still in the early portion
- 11:16Speaker 5: of the month Which one would you want for the
- 11:18Speaker 5: month of September?
- 11:20Speaker 1: 701-280-1987.
- 11:21Speaker 5: You only get one streaming service this month and then
- 11:25Speaker 5: in October you could change it.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Okay.
- 11:27Speaker 5: But what one are you keeping and why are you
- 11:30Speaker 5: keeping it? What are you watching? 701-280-1987. Which one are
- 11:34Speaker 5: you keeping, Angie?
- 11:34Speaker 2: I have to keep Peacock because I'm a Bravo-holic and
- 11:39Speaker 2: Bravo is on Peacock and there's so many I mean,
- 11:42Speaker 2: Ultimate Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. There's a new season of.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Some Housewives franchise. Oh, the New York. There's just so
- 11:51Speaker 2: much happening on Bravo that if only for that, I
- 11:54Speaker 2: have to keep Peacock.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I probably would keep Peacock as well. There's a
- 11:58Speaker 5: lot of football games that are on Peacock and golf
- 12:02Speaker 5: that is on Peacock.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 12:04Speaker 5: And with the NFL coming back, probably you'd get the
- 12:08Speaker 5: most bang for your buck.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:10Speaker 5: You know what's crazy? Out of all of them, the
- 12:12Speaker 5: one I could probably do without for maybe ever is.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Netflix. Really? We never use it.
- 12:19Speaker 5: And I'm sure we're paying the 20 bucks or whatever
- 12:22Speaker 5: relative we're borrowing it from. And then we're borrowing whatever
- 12:25Speaker 5: to whatever relative. We never have Netflix on other than
- 12:29Speaker 5: to watch like documentaries.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I was going to say that makes me know you're
- 12:32Speaker 2: not obsessed with true crime. I think if you're obsessed
- 12:34Speaker 2: with true crime.
- 12:35Speaker 3: You keep Netflix.
- 12:37Speaker 5: Yeah, 701-280-1987. You only get one streaming service for the
- 12:41Speaker 5: month of September. Then you can switch, obviously, in October.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Which one are you picking and why are you picking it?
- 12:47Speaker 1: Let us know. $ 151 a month.
- 12:49Speaker 5: I could have gone my entire Tuesday and not learned that.
- 12:58Speaker 5: This story has been all over my algorithm. Have you
- 13:02Speaker 5: heard about this duo? These two guys who were pretending, catfishing,
- 13:08Speaker 5: scamming ladies on dating apps, dating sites, pretending to be...
- 13:16Speaker 5: a player in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers.
- 13:19Speaker 1: This is a very real story.
- 13:21Speaker 6: The FBI has arrested two men, including one who pretended
- 13:25Speaker 6: to be a 49ers player to defraud dozens of women
- 13:29Speaker 6: out of millions of dollars. The U.S. Attorney's Office in
- 13:32Speaker 6: Oregon said the pair stole more than a million dollars
- 13:35Speaker 6: from 2022 till now. They targeted at least 26 victims
- 13:40Speaker 6: on dating apps and social media and Investigators say they
- 13:43Speaker 6: would create fake financial documents to make them seem wealthy.
- 13:47Speaker 6: They would then convince the women to send them money
- 13:50Speaker 6: and even take out loans to invest.
- 13:52Speaker 5: Now, first, I will say I do feel bad for
- 13:56Speaker 5: these people that were taken advantage of. But I'll let
- 13:59Speaker 5: you know right now. If you see someone on a
- 14:03Speaker 5: dating website, dating app that says wide receiver for the
- 14:06Speaker 5: San Francisco 49ers, and you see this man wearing a helmet,
- 14:12Speaker 5: Running routes at the beach. That is not a real
- 14:15Speaker 5: player for the San Francisco 49ers, okay? He is not
- 14:18Speaker 5: busting out his game day helmet and running go routes
- 14:21Speaker 5: at the beach.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I mean, that screams, I'm trying to prove I'm a 49er.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Look, I'll put helmet on. Like, listen, it is not
- 14:31Speaker 3: great what these dudes did, obviously.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Not great.
- 14:34Speaker 3: However....
- 14:37Speaker 2: Hey, isn't this like Darwin said, like, we got to
- 14:41Speaker 2: weed out the women.
- 14:42Speaker 3: What are you doing? What are you doing?
- 14:45Speaker 2: First of all, you don't have Google. You can't just
- 14:47Speaker 2: Google what the players.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Are on the roster.
- 14:51Speaker 3: This is crazy work to me.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Second of all, if you're on a dating app and
- 14:56Speaker 2: the guy says he's rich and then asks you for money,
- 14:59Speaker 2: that's not a red flag.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Right.
- 15:01Speaker 3: That's not a red flag. Who's just giving? Well, them.
- 15:05Speaker 3: They are.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I don't think that they should get in trouble. As
- 15:08Speaker 2: much as I think that it's horrible what they did,
- 15:10Speaker 2: I think if you're a woman who met a guy
- 15:13Speaker 2: on a dating app and you're dumb enough to send
- 15:16Speaker 2: him a bunch of money, that's your fault.
- 15:18Speaker 3: That's your fault.
- 15:19Speaker 2: You made the dumbest choice ever, and now you got
- 15:21Speaker 2: to learn.
- 15:22Speaker 1: It is kind of funny.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Now you got to learn. Who told you to do that?
- 15:26Speaker 5: Yeah, it is kind of funny that someone who would
- 15:29Speaker 5: presumably be in the NFL is asking you for $ 20, 000, $ 30, 000.
- 15:32Speaker 1: And I don't care. They're millionaires.
- 15:35Speaker 2: It was, oh, they made these documents to act like
- 15:39Speaker 2: they were wealthy and then ask for money. If I
- 15:41Speaker 2: saw those documents, I would say, why you need my
- 15:44Speaker 2: money then?
- 15:45Speaker 3: If you got money, why you need mine? And then
- 15:48Speaker 3: if it's, oh, well, because I'm an investor. You know what?
- 15:52Speaker 5: If somebody.
- 15:53Speaker 2: A man is asking me to invest in something after
- 15:55Speaker 2: we met on a dating app that screams scam. And
- 15:59Speaker 2: if it doesn't scream scam to you, then you deserve
- 16:03Speaker 2: to be scammed.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I don't feel bad for you.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Drop it. Drop it. Big 98.7. This is Am I
- 16:09Speaker 1: the Problem? It's me. We'll hear one side of the story.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And with your help. Am I the problem? Decide if
- 16:19Speaker 1: it's right or if maybe you're the problem. I'm hardly
- 16:23Speaker 1: the problem. On Big 98.7.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Is Kristen the one to blame or was her would-be
- 16:30Speaker 2: date out of line? Am I the problem for not
- 16:33Speaker 2: being able to pick a restaurant for a date? A
- 16:36Speaker 2: guy legit broke off going on a first date with
- 16:40Speaker 2: me over it. After going back and forth over text
- 16:43Speaker 2: for a couple of days trying to nail down a restaurant,
- 16:45Speaker 2: he finally called me and said we should just call
- 16:49Speaker 2: it off. No hard feelings, but it was giving incompatible
- 16:53Speaker 2: and just wants to save us the time. I will
- 16:55Speaker 2: admit that I have a limited palate. Like chicken tenders,
- 16:59Speaker 2: no condiments type palate. But I don't see why that
- 17:03Speaker 2: should be a deal breaker. I wasn't going to break
- 17:05Speaker 2: it off because he only wanted to go to more
- 17:08Speaker 2: exotic cuisine places. Why are his tastes okay but mine aren't?
- 17:13Speaker 1: I love the self-awareness. Her name's Kristen.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Yeah. I love the self-awareness from Kristen. Like, hey, I
- 17:18Speaker 5: like my chicken tendies.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:20Speaker 5: And that's just the way it is. I'm a fan
- 17:23Speaker 5: of the self-awareness. What I'll say, Kristen, I don't think
- 17:26Speaker 5: you're the problem. This sounds like the dude, if we
- 17:30Speaker 5: peel back the layers of this onion, had one too
- 17:33Speaker 5: many convos with an ex about... Well, what should we
- 17:36Speaker 5: have for dinner, honey? And could never get an answer.
- 17:40Speaker 5: And now you are getting that taken out on you.
- 17:42Speaker 5: So this, I think the dude is the problem, but
- 17:45Speaker 5: it's not his fault necessarily either. He has just been
- 17:48Speaker 5: pummeled and beat down after convo and convo and convo
- 17:54Speaker 5: with his ex about what should we have for dinner tonight, honey,
- 17:58Speaker 5: which is a question that dudes only ask when they
- 18:00Speaker 5: are ready for 35 minutes of nothing.
- 18:03Speaker 2: What are your thoughts? 701-280-1987. I actually... I don't know
- 18:09Speaker 2: that I think she's the problem. I think that's too
- 18:12Speaker 2: strong a word. But I do not fault this guy.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Because I feel like the one thing in life that
- 18:18Speaker 2: you should not settle on is who you choose to
- 18:21Speaker 2: be your life partner.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Okay? Because you gotta be with this person.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:24Speaker 3: And so if for him.
- 18:26Speaker 2: It is too annoying in the beginning to not be
- 18:29Speaker 2: able to nail down a restaurant. And he doesn't want
- 18:31Speaker 2: to deal with that. And he doesn't want that in
- 18:33Speaker 2: his future. Then he doesn't want it in his future.
- 18:35Speaker 3: And he called. First of all, I don't know of
- 18:37Speaker 3: any man who calls.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So that's a plus one called.
- 18:42Speaker 3: And that no, no hard feelings. But that's not he.
- 18:45Speaker 3: It's just not compatible.
- 18:46Speaker 1: He's already annoyed.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 3: So I feel like that's fine.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I feel like he actually did you a service because
- 18:52Speaker 2: I feel like Moving forward, it would become annoying anytime
- 18:59Speaker 2: he wants to go somewhere and you're like, but do
- 19:01Speaker 2: they have chicken tenders on the menu? The same way
- 19:04Speaker 2: if you were the one like, I want to go
- 19:06Speaker 2: to Applebee's because I know they got chicken tenders.
- 19:09Speaker 3: And he's like, great.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I want to go to Lila Thai. And then you're
- 19:13Speaker 2: going to be like, oh, exotic cuisine every day.
- 19:16Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 19:17Speaker 3: He saved you. Some trouble. I don't think that you're
- 19:20Speaker 3: a problem, but he's not.
- 19:22Speaker 1: A problem either. All right.
- 19:26Speaker 4: 701-280-1987.
- 19:26Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 19:27Speaker 5: I think Angie and I, in a roundabout way, kind
- 19:30Speaker 5: of agree that it was maybe just best at the
- 19:32Speaker 5: very beginning to just part ways. Because you know the
- 19:34Speaker 5: crazy thing about eating? You got to do it every
- 19:37Speaker 5: single day. And if you're living with someone and you're
- 19:40Speaker 5: figuring out what to eat every day, that's already a
- 19:43Speaker 5: chore in and of itself.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 5: Much less if you can't agree on, you know, certain
- 19:47Speaker 5: food choices on a regular basis. So let us know
- 19:50Speaker 5: what you think. 701-280-1987. And guys, was I on to something?
- 19:55Speaker 5: The trick when you need 30 minutes of privacy is
- 19:57Speaker 5: to ask your wife what she wants for dinner.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Drop it, drop it.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Big 98.7.
- 20:01Speaker 1: It's me. Hi.
- 20:01Speaker 3: I'm the problem.
- 20:02Speaker 5: It's me.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Kristen had a guy break it off before they even
- 20:11Speaker 2: went on their first date because she couldn't pick a restaurant.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Didn't even get that first sip of coffee.
- 20:16Speaker 2: No, she has a really picky palate. She's somewhat no condiments,
- 20:20Speaker 2: chicken tendies are her jam while he likes more exotic cuisine.
- 20:24Speaker 2: So he called her and was like, you know, let's
- 20:26Speaker 2: just not. And so she wants to know if she
- 20:30Speaker 2: was the problem or if he was being a bit ridiculous.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I think he was not being ridiculous. I think that's
- 20:35Speaker 2: a fair reason to break it off. I don't think
- 20:38Speaker 2: that anytime you break off a relationship or a dating, whatever,
- 20:42Speaker 2: I don't think it always is like deal breaker because
- 20:46Speaker 2: it's red flag. Sometimes it's just little things you're not compatible.
- 20:50Speaker 2: And if you don't feel like dealing with it, then
- 20:51Speaker 2: you don't feel like dealing with it. And you end
- 20:53Speaker 2: it because at the end of the day, I don't
- 20:55Speaker 2: think you should settle with who you choose as your partner.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Taiza said he's not the problem.
- 21:01Speaker 5: I'm picky and can't eat certain foods, but my fiance isn't.
- 21:05Speaker 5: And it can be so hard to find food where
- 21:08Speaker 5: multiple times we've had to go to different places for dinner.
- 21:11Speaker 5: I think it's okay to not want to have to
- 21:13Speaker 5: accommodate your meals for someone. That is the tricky thing
- 21:16Speaker 5: about food and relationships, is you do have to eat,
- 21:19Speaker 5: you know, in theory, every day.
- 21:22Speaker 1: You gotta eat something.
- 21:24Speaker 5: That alone is hard enough to do when you have
- 21:26Speaker 5: a family, is we gotta figure out what's for lunch,
- 21:29Speaker 5: what's for dinner.
- 21:30Speaker 1: And so to have to.
- 21:32Speaker 5: already be staring that in the face before you've even
- 21:35Speaker 5: been on a first date. I don't blame him. I don't,
- 21:37Speaker 5: I wouldn't blame her if this, this was the other way.
- 21:39Speaker 5: And she was like, nah, I'm not doing this.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I'm vegan, which automatically is annoying for all parties involved.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Okay. Just kidding.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Because it's really.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Hard for me to find places that have, you know,
- 21:52Speaker 2: vegan options that aren't just French fries. And I love
- 21:55Speaker 2: a French fry, but sometimes I want some variety and,
- 21:58Speaker 2: And then, you know, if it's like, I want to
- 22:00Speaker 2: go to a steakhouse, I'm probably not the most inclined
- 22:02Speaker 2: to go to a steakhouse, but Mikey's not vegan.
- 22:05Speaker 3: My kids are not vegan.
- 22:07Speaker 2: And so it does, like, you have to really like
- 22:10Speaker 2: me to want to deal with that. And so I
- 22:13Speaker 2: get it if Mikey was like, in the early days,
- 22:16Speaker 2: if Mikey was like, It's a no, I don't want
- 22:19Speaker 2: to deal with all this, whatever.
- 22:20Speaker 3: It'd be like, fair.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Fair.
- 22:23Speaker 1: I do have some advice. I used this just yesterday.
- 22:26Speaker 5: I have advice for couples if they're ever doing the,
- 22:29Speaker 5: which restaurant do you want to go to? And you
- 22:31Speaker 5: have the two or three or four options on the table. And,
- 22:34Speaker 5: you know, the wife doesn't care, but the hubby's undecided. Or,
- 22:37Speaker 5: you know, the wife's undecided, the hubby doesn't care. You
- 22:39Speaker 5: know the trick? I'm not even kidding. You say, hey,
- 22:42Speaker 5: you grab a coin. Heads will go here. Tails will
- 22:45Speaker 5: go here. And what's funny, it doesn't matter which one
- 22:48Speaker 5: is which. You flip the coin, when that coin is
- 22:50Speaker 5: in the air, the person who's undecided will instantly have
- 22:55Speaker 5: the one they hope it lands on, no matter what.
- 22:58Speaker 5: You can't help it, but have one that you would prefer.
- 23:02Speaker 5: And when the coin is in the air, no matter
- 23:04Speaker 5: what it lands on, that's the one you go to.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Yeah, your brain does kind of make a decision as
- 23:10Speaker 2: soon as it gets flipped.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Look at you having a smart life, Mac.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Who'd have thought?
- 23:14Speaker 5: If it lands on heads and it's the one you
- 23:16Speaker 5: really secretly wanted to go to, off you go. If
- 23:19Speaker 5: it lands on tails, you can go, actually, the coin
- 23:22Speaker 5: was in the air. I really wanted to go to
- 23:23Speaker 5: this place instead. See?
- 23:24Speaker 3: Oh, that's smart.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Yeah, never, ever fails. So a little free tip for
- 23:28Speaker 1: you here on Big 98.7. Drop it, drop it.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Big 98.7.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I need some gold.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Starting off the day with something good. This is Gabe's
- 23:38Speaker 4: Good News on Big 98.7.
- 23:43Speaker 5: If you're looking for good food and good company this month,
- 23:47Speaker 5: mark your calendar. Dotcom Connections on the move is hosting
- 23:53Speaker 5: their free monthly community meal Friday, September 18th from 530
- 23:58Speaker 5: to 7 at Faith United Methodist Church in Fargo. And
- 24:02Speaker 5: this month's menu is pizza. The group is all about
- 24:05Speaker 5: building connections right here in the FM area. And this
- 24:08Speaker 5: is just kind of a laid back chance, a laid
- 24:10Speaker 5: back gathering for to swap recommendations, meet your neighbors, or
- 24:15Speaker 5: just skip cooking dinner for once. No membership, no church
- 24:19Speaker 5: ties needed. Organizers say it's for anyone from all walks
- 24:23Speaker 5: of life. So come and go as you please. And
- 24:25Speaker 5: we got to give a big shout out to Micah,
- 24:28Speaker 5: who is someone who hangs out with us here on
- 24:30Speaker 5: Big 98.7 in the mornings, who made us aware of this.
- 24:33Speaker 5: And this is a wonderful time to also remind you, hey,
- 24:36Speaker 5: if you ever have something in your life or you
- 24:38Speaker 5: see something interesting, in your neighborhood or your community or
- 24:41Speaker 5: in Fargo in general, and you're like, oh, that would
- 24:44Speaker 5: work for Gabe's Good News of the Day, send them
- 24:47Speaker 5: to us. It's wonderful to find out the successes going
- 24:50Speaker 5: on in your world, in your neighborhood, in your community,
- 24:53Speaker 5: the whole nine yards. So I love when people go, hey,
- 24:55Speaker 5: would this work for Gabe's Good News of the Day?
- 24:57Speaker 5: And we can actually use it. So big shout out
- 24:59Speaker 5: to Micah this morning.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and I love this.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I feel like, especially as an adult, and let's say
- 25:05Speaker 2: you're new to the area, it is hard to make friends.
- 25:08Speaker 2: as an adult, or when you're new somewhere. So stuff
- 25:11Speaker 2: like this is like, okay, a big sense of community.
- 25:15Speaker 3: We can all connect. We're here for the same reason,
- 25:17Speaker 3: to make connections.
- 25:18Speaker 2: So it doesn't matter if you know one person, you
- 25:21Speaker 2: know no one, you know 50.
- 25:22Speaker 3: People that go. And so I think this is a
- 25:25Speaker 3: really cool event.
- 25:26Speaker 5: That's exactly right. Once again, that's coming up Thursday, September 18th.
- 25:30Speaker 5: And you know my favorite quote? If you don't, here
- 25:32Speaker 5: it is. The world is full of nice people. If
- 25:33Speaker 5: you can't find one, you gotta be one. And broken crayons,
- 25:37Speaker 5: they still color.
