- 0:15in this country, in this whole beautiful universe.
- 0:19We're going to grab a topic, and we're going to deconstruct and talk about a
- 0:23little bit of everything you already know.
- 0:24But once again, welcome to the Deconstructing Topic Podcast.
- 0:28Once again, it's David, your host Of the Legendary Podcast And once again,
- 0:33we got a good one We got so much going on You know, so much to talk about But once and for,
- 0:38I want to thank everybody that's been following me Giving me support I see my
- 0:42numbers have been increasing through my platform Whether it's Podbean, Spotify,
- 0:48Apple Podcasts, and on YouTube I want to appreciate my legendary People out
- 0:52there, my brothers and sisters Keep up the good work You already know all the
- 0:56information And once again, I tell people, hey, listen.
- 1:00Liking it, commenting, sharing. My podcast is going to bring joy all over the
- 1:05place, all over the world, because that's what we need.
- 1:07We need a little bit of everything. We need a little bit of joy. We need that, I tell you.
- 1:12We also need something that I always have said, is that you people,
- 1:15we need more independent-minded people that just think on their own,
- 1:20and don't let the masses or don't let some of these things
- 1:24that are going on in this world to trying to like break you in
- 1:27and take a side or anything to that effect this is the deconstructing topic
- 1:30podcast and i'm as independent as one can be because you already know saving
- 1:36the mind is saving the life that's for sure and i think a couple of i'm not
- 1:39gonna say a couple a handful more than a handful people have reached out to
- 1:43me and be like hey david what's going on talk to me,
- 1:46what's your take on the bat bunny situation and so on and so forth and i'm gonna
- 1:50say is this your legendary host of this podcast months ago way months ago before it was announced.
- 1:57I've uh kind of have told people hey listen he's gonna
- 2:00be in the halftime show and then two or three weeks later he was in a halftime
- 2:04show and we're talking about bad money i kind of knew that there was something
- 2:07was gonna happen because i think that he was performing to rehearse in the super
- 2:12bowl halftime and you know a lot of people are just like hey listen david so
- 2:17talk to me and And everybody,
- 2:19I mean, I think I've done heard every opinion that one can count.
- 2:22But let me just tell you this side of things.
- 2:25Because I'm one to say, look, I'm Puerto Rican, born in Puerto Rico.
- 2:29So shout out to the brother Benito out there. He did his thing.
- 2:33Whatever he did, he did his thing. I'm one in the mindset that now is our time.
- 2:38The ball, you know, he did the halftime show right there in the Super Bowl.
- 2:43And then the Super Bowl is key, and football is key when you have to,
- 2:47there's a saying that when you have the ball in your court, then you got to score, right?
- 2:52And I want to say that the Puerto Rican and the Latino community,
- 2:55we have the ball in our court.
- 2:58Tenemos el balón, I'm going to say in Spanish. I'm going to hear a little bit of Spanish.
- 3:03Pero tenemos el balón en nuestra cancha. And we dictate what's going to happen
- 3:07next, and we need to dictate what's going to happen.
- 3:10But I always, and I've mentioned a couple of times, And I, you know,
- 3:13if you're listening to my podcast, please feel free to follow me on my socials,
- 3:18Instagram, the X platform and so on and so forth in my email.
- 3:22It's always on the description.
- 3:24If there was a little inspiration to the halftime show would be one and none
- 3:30other than Pedro Albizu Campo, which, you know, I definitely got to do my podcast work on that situation.
- 3:36When he won state in the 1950s.
- 3:40Each generation has to gather the ashes of their elders.
- 3:45Those who do not revere the ashes of their elders are truly dead, the elders.
- 3:50Think about that. And I'm saying, and every time that there's a situation where
- 3:54we are put in a spotlight, and I'm trying to explain to people,
- 3:57for those people that were not a fan, claiming that he doesn't represent us,
- 4:01and et cetera, et cetera, all I'm saying is this.
- 4:05It's very seldom when somebody is put in that pedestal that it's us, right?
- 4:12Whether you are, you know, some of his music early on, he has mature.
- 4:16Keep in mind is this, that when you're like 21, 20, you're going to be rapping
- 4:20about something different than when you're 30.
- 4:22So, you know, I want to remind people that he's been performing for quite a while.
- 4:26I know that some people, you know, some of the music in his early,
- 4:29it's a little bit, you know, questionable, but he's moving on to a different stage in his life.
- 4:35To talk about a little bit of everything. Now, my thing is this.
- 4:37And I'm one that have been critical of Bad Bunny in the past.
- 4:41And this is anybody who's in the pro-LBGT movement.
- 4:45And sometimes it's just so weird how we could say, oh, yeah,
- 4:49we're in the LBGT plus movement.
- 4:51You know, we believe in equality, but then at the same time,
- 4:55promote products of companies that have, let's say, business with countries
- 5:00that are anti-LBGT. You understand?
- 5:03So it's kind of like hypocritical and I was kind of critical about that with Bad Bunny years ago.
- 5:09And people was like, hey, you know, that makes sense.
- 5:13But this happens a lot. This is what America is.
- 5:17America is like that propaganda machine. You dance with the devil and you dance with angels.
- 5:22You eat with both at the same table. And one can say that hey,
- 5:26listen, if we boycott everything, we redo everything, we'll be on total shutdown.
- 5:32And what I'm saying is this.
- 5:34If this individual was the number one worldwide streaming music or anything
- 5:40to that effect, he's from Puerto Rico, Latino, whatever you think about his
- 5:45music, whatever you think about him, all I'm saying, guess what?
- 5:50You have a business. You're doing content like myself.
- 5:53You're doing, you know, independent thing. You're doing whatever it is.
- 5:57It's your time to grab the board and be like, okay, it's that time to make it happen.
- 6:02For me, I'm not one to, you know, he did his thing. You know,
- 6:06I'm mature to say, well, he's an entertainment.
- 6:09I can't use his message. I'm going to use the message of those elders that have
- 6:14been there, such as Pedro Alvizo Campo, United States, Malcolm X.
- 6:19There's so many people out there of some of these elders that we tend to forget
- 6:24because sadly in the United States, you know, capitalist country,
- 6:28even corporations co-op a movement I'm telling you.
- 6:33And that I could understand for those people who were not too fond because he sold out.
- 6:39And then there's Puerto Ricans that he's like, oh, who is he to talk about the
- 6:42independence when I'm over here and then so on and I'm struggling and so on
- 6:46and so forth. You know, it's like a domino effect.
- 6:49All I'm saying is, what are you doing? What are you going to do now?
- 6:52I don't want to, like I said, I'm not going to just go back and be like,
- 6:56oh, the inspiration of our people was at Bizzou Campo in the halftime show.
- 7:00I'm not going to do that. No.
- 7:02I appreciate what he did. He did what he could best do in a limited spot, no matter what it is.
- 7:07But guess what? Now it's our turn to shine. Now it's our turn to talk about
- 7:11our history, the elders that fall. Now it's our turn.
- 7:16And when I say that it's the turn because he mentioned a lot of countries and
- 7:21primary Puerto Rico, think on your own and stop being dependent,
- 7:25especially dependent of the United States of America.
- 7:29Wherever the United States goes, Puerto Rico goes.
- 7:31And I was in Puerto Rico a long time, my homeland.
- 7:35I'm over here taking a picture of the mountain. There's a Walmart.
- 7:38Walmart is owned by a corporate American company.
- 7:42Where are we as people that we could say, you know what?
- 7:45We need to do better. We can do better. Even something where people in the Bronx,
- 7:50people in the Gattles, in the hood.
- 7:51We depend on these things. And I'm saying to myself, what can we do to gravitate
- 7:56and say, listen, listen.
- 7:59Because people just was thinking about, oh, you know, it was political.
- 8:02It was this and that and that. And I'm like, look, number one. He was number one.
- 8:07It's like he's the number one artist, right? Michael Jackson appeared.
- 8:10You know, Beyonce. Now, sadly, the Super Bowl, the halftime show,
- 8:13the NFL halftime show, they get co-opted.
- 8:16It's like a corporation taking it, like I said, taking a movement,
- 8:21whether it's Black Lights Matter, whether it's, you know, ICE,
- 8:24whatever it is, whatever movement.
- 8:25And it's in the center stage and it becomes a little political or whatever,
- 8:29but I'm like, that's United States in a nutshell.
- 8:34And I once told people, because there are people,
- 8:38in the independence movement and we have an artist before, Bad Bunny,
- 8:42who was talking and setting light about Puerto Rico, but he was showing because,
- 8:47ah, whatever, from Calle 13.
- 8:52And people were like, oh, how can he be independent, But yet,
- 8:55you know, talk crap about government, but yet reap the benefits of living here
- 8:58and being an artist in the United States. I say it's this.
- 9:01There's a lot of LBGT people who go out there and promote equality.
- 9:06Hey, listen, by all means.
- 9:08But then they wear certain brands, certain clothes. They work for certain companies
- 9:13that have business in countries that are against them.
- 9:18But then I say to myself, is this, if I had a chance to say,
- 9:22you know what, I'm going to work for this company and I'm going to make,
- 9:26you know, I'm just using an example.
- 9:27I'm going to make a million dollars per year, a company that I might not agree
- 9:30that they have business doing this versus a company, let's say, I'm using an example.
- 9:37If they probe whatever it is that I'm fighting for and they're only going to
- 9:40give me $200,000 a year doing the same thing, guess what I'm going to take?
- 9:44I'm going to take the money. Why am I going to take the money?
- 9:47Because with money, then you can have more to make spaces of the things that you're fighting for.
- 9:54And this is what exactly I've been telling people in regards to the bad bunny.
- 9:58Is that, okay, enough. I'm with you. And enough with the people that's against
- 10:03it. Enough with the people that's pro.
- 10:05What are we going to do? Now, there's situations where, again,
- 10:10we go with the money situation.
- 10:12You need money in order to promote something. Let's be straight up.
- 10:17And I'm not saying that, listen, David, doesn't that mean that you're selling
- 10:21to the devil? And that means you're selling your soul? No.
- 10:24Selling your soul would be that you change your tune on whatever it is, right?
- 10:28And that's where I want people to understand is that, hey, you're not going
- 10:33to agree with a lot of things in this life, with companies, corporations.
- 10:37You're not going to agree with that. But if it brings some benefits,
- 10:41if it brings money to help others, by all means.
- 10:45And that's what I try to explain to people hey listen you
- 10:48have the right to do whatever it is now people
- 10:51want to say well you know how can I say hey
- 10:55listen that there's other Latinos or better artists or
- 10:58whatever it's not that there's a better artist I'm pretty sure there's
- 11:00a thousand better artists than Bad Bunny but guess
- 11:04who's number one you understand what I'm saying what
- 11:07now now that you you know in Puerto Ricans now that we
- 11:10here we people are talking about Puerto rico what are we gonna do whatever whatever
- 11:14you know you know especially those people in the in the oh yeah he's not latino
- 11:20he doesn't represent no he's not he doesn't represent puerto ricas i'm like
- 11:23shut the up and just what are you gonna do now not that the focus on you that means,
- 11:30example if you're puerto rica living in puerto rica if you know that tourism
- 11:33is gonna go up after the superbowl what are you gonna do i'm just saying what
- 11:37kind of business you have What kind of thing that you want to do?
- 11:40I remember years ago when I went to my island.
- 11:44A gentleman, you know, from Georgia, he got off. I know Georgia had the conversation.
- 11:49Imagine this. He stood in this hotel and he's asking one of the workers in Puerto
- 11:56Rico, where can I eat good food?
- 11:59The young brother's telling that gentleman, oh, Applebee's.
- 12:03And I'm like, Jesus, you see what I'm talking about? This is the point,
- 12:06what I'm trying to say here.
- 12:08I stood there and I told the gentleman once he stopped talking,
- 12:11I'm like, why is he sending to Applebee's? Don't you got an apple because you're in the United States?
- 12:16Here's a local shop here. You see, this is exactly what I'm trying to tell the
- 12:19Puerto Rican people, the Puerto Rican community.
- 12:23If you're negative, turn something into something.
- 12:27If you don't agree with it, that's fine. But let's turn something positive to positive.
- 12:33If Puerto Ricans that are out there in Puerto Rico, you got a business.
- 12:36If you're listening to this, small business independent.
- 12:39Or if you anyone out there try to push people in
- 12:42these service to go to places that's going to support the island go to your
- 12:46local supermarket go to whatever the case don't go to no apple bees or chili
- 12:51or anything like that what the hell is the apple bees in puerto rico right i'm
- 12:55just saying sadly they can't get away with walmart but i'm just saying what avenues can we bring,
- 13:01and the same applies here in this united states now that we have people talking
- 13:07about puerto rico and whatever, and what are we going to learn?
- 13:10And one thing, Pedro Albizu Campo, one thing, the Puerto Rican diaspora here
- 13:14in the United States, we're going to unite everybody, Puerto Ricans,
- 13:18all South American, Central American, Canadian, obviously, I see.
- 13:22We're going to unite because, sadly, in this country, in this beautiful country.
- 13:27The benefits of you being divided, and when it's your turn to do something,
- 13:32you don't have the energy to fight your fight.
- 13:34And the people that you fought along, It's not the same people that's going
- 13:37to fight your fight. You fought their fight, but they're not here to fight your fight.
- 13:43Oh, that, you know, Bad Bunny, he doesn't represent us. And I'm like,
- 13:46blah, blah, blah. So then who represents you? I'm just saying. My point is this.
- 13:51You're going to go in crazy.
- 13:54What are we going to do? What's in your hands? What's the power in your hands?
- 13:57What are we going to do going after or going forward?
- 14:02Again, I want Puerto Ricans out there who are in the pro Bad Bunny situation.
- 14:10I get it. We appreciate what the young brother did,
- 14:14But again, like Brother Macamac said These are entertainers And we can't cling
- 14:19on entertainers And we can't cling on politicians That want to be entertainers
- 14:23If you know what I mean Got a couple of Puerto Rican politicians That want to be entertainers.
- 14:29What is the power that we're going to do to educate people on our history, on our culture?
- 14:34I often have told people when they be like, oh, I'm going to go to Europe.
- 14:37With all due respect to my European brothers and sisters, I'll be there one day.
- 14:42But I tell people, especially my people, when I say my people,
- 14:46the marginalized groups, blacks, Latinos, whatever it is, I tell them,
- 14:50you don't need to go to Europe.
- 14:51If you're going to go on vacation, go to the Caribbean. We got to think.
- 14:55Jamaica Dominican Republic Haiti I'm pretty sure we'll get You know there's
- 15:00a couple of spots But hey listen Cuba,
- 15:03The low-end seals The higher-end seals Barbados Puerto Rico obviously I'm just
- 15:07saying You know get that sun But just going forward.
- 15:14The spotlight is on us My Puerto Rican people And my Latinos And all these people
- 15:19that feel marginalized The spotlight is on us What are we gonna do?
- 15:24Please do something. I urge you to grab something, learn something, follow my podcast.
- 15:30Let's make it happen. Do something.
- 15:34Reap the benefits for not only yourself, but for those in our community.
- 15:39Because at the end of the day, we only have each other.
- 15:43And trust me, you don't need to wait another halftime show to be inspired.
- 15:47You don't need to wait for another the music or let's say sports entertainer,
- 15:53actor, actress, whatever it is.
- 15:54You don't need that. There's always been heroes, both men and women who fought
- 15:58that fight for us, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Cubans, Haitians,
- 16:03Jamaican, the Caribbean, South American, Central American, all that good stuff.
- 16:08There's those people who fought that fight. And if you want us to learn from
- 16:12them, start talking about them instead of going out there, buddy,
- 16:16you know, just make it happen for once and for all.
- 16:20Let's make it happen. That's why you're listening to my podcast.
- 16:22Once again, hit the like button, share, all that.
- 16:26Once you listen to my podcast, if you are a follower or if this is the first time that you.
- 16:32Get off. Listen to my podcast. Put everybody down. Put everybody down.
- 16:37Put everybody. Sit them down.
- 16:39Listen to my podcast. Ride a car. Do this. Do that.
- 16:42Let's make it happen. Because I am that legendary podcast. But without you,
- 16:46there will be no legendary. Because you are my legendary people and my legendary family.
- 16:50Let's make it happen. I'm out of here. Peace.
