Transcript
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to jag Zam.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Kind of Honey Stevens here, Brian Sexton, John Oser with
- 0:19Speaker 2: me today after an eventful weekend. It was draft weekend
- 0:22Speaker 2: here in duvall and it was a little bit different
- 0:24Speaker 2: than it normally goes because there was no first round picked,
- 0:27Speaker 2: but still eventful. Nonetheless, let's get into our big things today,
- 0:30Speaker 2: and our first big thing is hurry up and wait.
- 0:32Speaker 2: As mentioned, there was no first round pick, but it's
- 0:34Speaker 2: a familiar spot for GM James Gladstone, who previously worked
- 0:37Speaker 2: in LA. They're used to not having first round picks
- 0:40Speaker 2: but still finding some talent later in the draft.
- 0:42Speaker 3: I certainly think you can find quality players at a
- 0:46Speaker 3: ton of different intervals, and we certainly had success towards
- 0:49Speaker 3: the latter half in latter portion of drafts and also
- 0:53Speaker 3: undrafted college free agency in Los Angeles, specifically at the
- 0:56Speaker 3: linebacker position. But nonetheless, I think that instincts are certainly
- 1:01Speaker 3: going to be something that reigns supreme in that space.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Knowing that a lot happens fast and in the specific
- 1:07Speaker 3: inserts of Parker that stands out in a real.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Way, Brian, we thought maybe they'd go linebacker earlier, there
- 1:14Speaker 2: was a lot of predictions. They definitely didn't do anything
- 1:16Speaker 2: of what we thought they were going to do.
- 1:18Speaker 1: But James Gladstone.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Still thinks he can get some serious contributors from this chunk.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Of players well, and he referenced to the rams and
- 1:25Speaker 4: I think we did in our instant analysis several times.
- 1:28Speaker 5: Over the course of the weekend.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Listen the Lutney the laundry list of players around the
- 1:33Speaker 4: league who were either second or third day draft picks
- 1:36Speaker 4: or undrafted rookie free agents who've made it and had
- 1:39Speaker 4: significant careers is significant. They needed a tight end, they
- 1:44Speaker 4: took two. You know, they needed a safety, they found one.
- 1:48Speaker 4: They needed edge players, they found a couple. They knew
- 1:51Speaker 4: what their list was. They were very specific in what
- 1:54Speaker 4: they were looking for, and we've talked a lot about
- 1:56Speaker 4: it and we will continue to talk a lot about it.
- 1:58Speaker 4: They feel really good about finding eyes that fit their system.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Did they find all pros? Those are hard enough to
- 2:04Speaker 4: find anywhere in the draft, But did they find good
- 2:06Speaker 4: football players?
- 2:07Speaker 5: They think so.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 6: If you want some insight into this, James Gladstone's on
- 2:12Speaker 6: the ozone pod this week. He actually talked about their
- 2:14Speaker 6: early draft strategy, and it really was they had efforts
- 2:21Speaker 6: to move up. They had areas that they made calls
- 2:24Speaker 6: to move up into, but they had very specific parameters
- 2:28Speaker 6: that they were going to follow to be in that
- 2:31Speaker 6: And that's why he used the word strategically bold. Sometimes
- 2:35Speaker 6: when a GM doesn't make a pick, people think, oh,
- 2:37Speaker 6: well he wasn't aggressive. Well, you know, you can be aggressive,
- 2:41Speaker 6: but you don't want to be stupid. So the idea
- 2:44Speaker 6: was to see if it was possible to move up,
- 2:46Speaker 6: and then if they didn't, then the idea was to
- 2:49Speaker 6: have multiple picks late in the round to give themselves
- 2:52Speaker 6: percentage chances of succeeding, where your percentage are a little
- 2:56Speaker 6: better up top. But that's the strategy they used at
- 2:58Speaker 6: the RAMS and that they used this weekend.
- 3:01Speaker 2: It's got to our next big thing, which as you mentioned,
- 3:02Speaker 2: is strategically gold. James Gladstone talked about when they make
- 3:06Speaker 2: those decisions, they're not just going with maybe who is
- 3:08Speaker 2: always the highest ranking, but who's going to fit in here.
- 3:12Speaker 3: You know, we're not going to invite anybody into this
- 3:14Speaker 3: building who isn't a strong match for it. And you know,
- 3:17Speaker 3: the idea that those that we have are in fact
- 3:21Speaker 3: built to thrive and be the best versions of themselves
- 3:24Speaker 3: because of the the environment, and that alignment was what
- 3:28Speaker 3: they're actually built up and made of. I think is
- 3:31Speaker 3: really queer in this crop.
- 3:34Speaker 2: John, When we look it back at the draft, the
- 3:35Speaker 2: Jaguars picking a tight end early. Maybe none of us
- 3:38Speaker 2: really predicted that happening, but it did kick off a
- 3:40Speaker 2: huge run of tight ends, and when you're looking at
- 3:42Speaker 2: where they're picking and where their picks are available to them,
- 3:45Speaker 2: it does make sense when you look back at it
- 3:47Speaker 2: like that, Well.
- 3:48Speaker 6: They really liked Nate Bower Kirscher. I think I'm saying
- 3:51Speaker 6: his name right, workure. So there's a little bit in
- 3:57Speaker 6: the draft here of sometimes people and it from the
- 4:01Speaker 6: big picture, whereas teams have to look at specifics. They
- 4:04Speaker 6: liked him at fifty six. Could they have gotten him
- 4:08Speaker 6: at seventy maybe? Were they going to get him at
- 4:11Speaker 6: eighty eight? Probably not? So you got to take your
- 4:13Speaker 6: guy when you take your guy, And Brian Kay's exactly right.
- 4:16Speaker 6: You could tell by the way of the draft. I
- 4:18Speaker 6: don't think people before the draft, when they were preanalyzing it,
- 4:23Speaker 6: realized that there was going to be this tight end demand.
- 4:26Speaker 6: If you wanted your guy, you were going to have
- 4:28Speaker 6: to take it because they went off the board fast
- 4:30Speaker 6: after the Jaguars picked at fifty seven.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Yeah, there weren't many of them.
- 4:33Speaker 4: There were two that went in front of where the
- 4:35Speaker 4: Draguars picked at fifty six. But then there was a
- 4:37Speaker 4: group of guys that all sort of had the same qualities.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Now you get to choose the one that fits you best,
- 4:44Speaker 4: whether we're talking about the fit in the locker room,
- 4:46Speaker 4: whether it's you put value on really long arms and
- 4:49Speaker 4: really big hands, right, whatever it is that you value. John,
- 4:52Speaker 4: You and I've covered this because you covered the Patriots.
- 4:55Speaker 4: All those years that the Patriots were winning. They were
- 4:58Speaker 4: taking guys that other teams didn't necessarily value as high
- 5:02Speaker 4: as they did. Why Well, because Belichick had the Patriot
- 5:05Speaker 4: weigh and the things that they valued were very specific
- 5:09Speaker 4: to their roster. With Tom Brady on it, what he
- 5:12Speaker 4: could overcome their salary cap with heavy with stars. Same
- 5:16Speaker 4: thing with the Steelers back in the nineties. They were
- 5:18Speaker 4: able to draft from a completely different paradigm because they
- 5:21Speaker 4: were one of the few three four teams back then.
- 5:24Speaker 5: So they would take a six foot three, two hundred.
- 5:26Speaker 4: And ninety five pound defensive tackle because they played it
- 5:29Speaker 4: differently Each team has what they think is important for them,
- 5:34Speaker 4: which adjusts where you rank a player and how it
- 5:37Speaker 4: fits what you want.
- 5:39Speaker 6: And Kay has all this talk about how you know
- 5:42Speaker 6: Nate the second round pick with a fifth round forget
- 5:46Speaker 6: that there were teams that were going to take him
- 5:48Speaker 6: in the second round.
- 5:49Speaker 1: The Jaguars had so.
- 5:51Speaker 6: A lot of what you read and feel in the
- 5:54Speaker 6: in the.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Interweb, Kai either grands salt.
- 5:58Speaker 2: The interwebs can't always be trust. Our final big thing
- 6:01Speaker 2: today is going to be roster spots with ten new
- 6:04Speaker 2: editions via the draft and then over a dozen editions
- 6:07Speaker 2: via undrafted free agents. Brian, this roster might look a
- 6:10Speaker 2: lot different in the upcoming season, because it's important to
- 6:13Speaker 2: mention this is only the second season for this current administration.
- 6:16Speaker 2: They're still trying to get their guys in there.
- 6:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 5: I said this to a couple of different people over
- 6:20Speaker 5: the weekend.
- 6:20Speaker 4: It was so impressive what they did last year, going
- 6:22Speaker 4: from four to thirteen to thirteen and four with largely
- 6:26Speaker 4: the previous year's roster. They added a few guys here
- 6:29Speaker 4: and there. Now they have a chance to bring their
- 6:31Speaker 4: own guys in. John, Guys, you look at the roster
- 6:34Speaker 4: turnover on average, it's about thirty percent year to year.
- 6:39Speaker 4: So you're going to lean towards the guys that you
- 6:42Speaker 4: drafted to fit your specific needs. And I would imagine
- 6:46Speaker 4: that twelve fourteen of these guys are going.
- 6:49Speaker 5: To be on the roster.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I'd say a number is probably accurate.
- 6:54Speaker 6: And you also got to remember, now the whole idea
- 6:56Speaker 6: of the fifty three in the NFL is a little
- 6:58Speaker 6: bit andicated you're sixteen guys on the practice squad. Figure in,
- 7:03Speaker 6: you're really caring about sixty nine and four or five
- 7:06Speaker 6: of those guys in the practice squad are coming up
- 7:09Speaker 6: and into your roster.
- 7:10Speaker 1: So I got emails for the draft guy, Oh.
- 7:12Speaker 6: Can bet eleven picks? Can eleven guys make this team? Absolutely?
- 7:17Speaker 6: And I with Brian, I would expect ten eleven, twelve
- 7:20Speaker 6: guys out of this draft class. And as you said,
- 7:23Speaker 6: couple it with last year. Now you're at twenty seven
- 7:25Speaker 6: to twenty eight guys that this regime has brought in
- 7:28Speaker 6: as young rookies. A life comes at you fast, and
- 7:32Speaker 6: rosters changed fast in the NFL.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Absolutely more changes to come. Stay with stern Jack Zama.
- 7:36Speaker 2: We're going to talk about every single player they picked
- 7:38Speaker 2: in this draft over.
- 7:39Speaker 8: The weekend.
- 8:10Speaker 2: At the Big Guys, Emmanuel Craig on there with his
- 8:12Speaker 2: family celebrating. I love those videos. We're going to release
- 8:15Speaker 2: some of the phone calls, I think today, and it's
- 8:17Speaker 2: just so cool to obviously have kind of be sharing
- 8:20Speaker 2: that moment with them, their dreams being realized.
- 8:21Speaker 5: You see the size of that guy's arms. I mean,
- 8:23Speaker 5: we heard he's big, but my goodness, we'll.
- 8:26Speaker 2: See he's gonna be a He told me his strategy
- 8:29Speaker 2: for protecting a quarterback is giving them as much time
- 8:31Speaker 2: as they need and if they want to sit on
- 8:33Speaker 2: Trevor wants to sit on the toilet back there, he said,
- 8:35Speaker 2: he'll have time to do that.
- 8:36Speaker 5: That's good.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Let's take a look at we have a full screen.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I think of all the picks there ten overall, they
- 8:43Speaker 2: had eleven picks going into the day. Fairly decent split.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Five offense, five defense, A couple of tight ends obviously,
- 8:49Speaker 2: we'll talk about that. Some big guys defensive tackle, offensive line,
- 8:53Speaker 2: and then a little bit later on some edge rushers,
- 8:55Speaker 2: wide receivers. It's a mix of everything. A lot of
- 8:57Speaker 2: guys that contribute on special teams. A lot of these
- 9:00Speaker 2: as captains of their teams five six years in college.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Some of these guys experience coming and ready to play.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Let's talk a little bit about the tight ends because
- 9:09Speaker 2: obviously a Berkshire going early in that run of tight
- 9:13Speaker 2: ends that we talked about, and then everyone's like, oh,
- 9:14Speaker 2: we took a blocking tight end so early, but then
- 9:17Speaker 2: you know they add another tight end a little bit later.
- 9:19Speaker 2: So we've heard a little bit from them, but it
- 9:22Speaker 2: sounds like they want to kind of run with two
- 9:24Speaker 2: tight ends, and that's where this is coming in well.
- 9:26Speaker 4: And we talked about the rams all weekend long and
- 9:29Speaker 4: the connection between Lee and Coleen and Sean McVeigh. I
- 9:31Speaker 4: also remember an la connection when Mercedes Lewis was this
- 9:35Speaker 4: team's draft choice in two thousand and six. He caught
- 9:38Speaker 4: ninety six passes his senior year at UCLA, but he
- 9:41Speaker 4: came in and became a blocking tight end early in
- 9:44Speaker 4: his career. That's because the Jaguars loved the size and
- 9:46Speaker 4: the length that he had. You see, this guy can
- 9:49Speaker 4: do a lot of different things. When you watch the tape,
- 9:51Speaker 4: how they intend to use him is how they intend
- 9:54Speaker 4: to use him. You can't necessarily and they don't just
- 9:57Speaker 4: look at what he did and say, well, that's all
- 9:59Speaker 4: he and be clearly he's a guy who moves, he's
- 10:02Speaker 4: got length. There's a shot of a ball in the
- 10:04Speaker 4: end zone that he catches where he's having to avoid
- 10:07Speaker 4: a defender. I wouldn't make the mistake of saying he
- 10:09Speaker 4: was a nineteen catch guy and so he's only going
- 10:12Speaker 4: to be a blocking tight end because we've seen it
- 10:14Speaker 4: flip in this league.
- 10:14Speaker 6: John, Yeah, they don't believe that's what he is. And
- 10:18Speaker 6: remember everybody like raised their eyebrows at Brent and Strange
- 10:21Speaker 6: and he's one.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Of the best two three players in the team. The
- 10:24Speaker 1: tight end is interesting.
- 10:25Speaker 6: If you want a really good synopsis of it, Bucky Brooks,
- 10:31Speaker 6: in a story that I'm writing I think for Today,
- 10:34Speaker 6: has a really good quote explaining exactly what teams are doing.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Essentially as teams, as defenses.
- 10:41Speaker 6: Play more nickel and play more multi defensive back defenses,
- 10:47Speaker 6: teams are wanting to go to more tight ends because
- 10:49Speaker 6: you can either run on it or the tight ends
- 10:51Speaker 6: give them fits because it's designed to stop receiver routes.
- 10:54Speaker 1: That's the simple version of it. But that's the way
- 10:57Speaker 1: teams are going.
- 10:58Speaker 6: And in order to take advantage of that, they had
- 11:01Speaker 6: to pivot a little bit hard to go get to
- 11:04Speaker 6: free agent tight ends to fill that because everybody's keeping
- 11:09Speaker 6: their tight ends. So the way to do it was
- 11:11Speaker 6: the draft. It's an interesting move, but you saw the
- 11:14Speaker 6: league trending toward that.
- 11:16Speaker 1: As soon as the Jaguars drafted.
- 11:18Speaker 6: There was an az I think it was nine on
- 11:20Speaker 6: the first two days, and then there were four or
- 11:23Speaker 6: five more in round four.
- 11:26Speaker 1: This was a thirst for tight ends.
- 11:28Speaker 4: And we saw what the Rams did to the rest
- 11:30Speaker 4: of the league. I mean, they were one of the
- 11:31Speaker 4: best teams in football all year. Matthew Stafford was the
- 11:34Speaker 4: MVP with forty six touchdowns. Seventeen touchdowns went to his
- 11:38Speaker 4: tight ends, and Kay they had eleven catches for more
- 11:41Speaker 4: than one hundred yards and a touchdown against the Jaguars
- 11:43Speaker 4: in London, and you could just see the Jaguars couldn't
- 11:46Speaker 4: match up with a bunch of these six foot five,
- 11:48Speaker 4: six foot six tight ends, none of whom went to
- 11:51Speaker 4: the Pro Bowl, but all of them were contributors to
- 11:53Speaker 4: one of the most explosive offenses in the game and having.
- 11:56Speaker 2: That ability to kind of have breakout games. We didn't
- 11:58Speaker 2: touch on it fully, but ten Ozil has those touchdowns
- 12:01Speaker 2: if you're worried about saying Borkishire doesn't have the touchdowns
- 12:04Speaker 2: Cozial does. So having both of those skills plus what
- 12:07Speaker 2: brent Strange brings to the field, it feels like it's
- 12:09Speaker 2: giving them a lot more options on offense. And I'm
- 12:11Speaker 2: sure Liam Cohen loves extra options on it.
- 12:13Speaker 6: Well, that's that's the whole key last year, and I
- 12:15Speaker 6: think Liam said it maybe to you or on the
- 12:18Speaker 6: podium when Brenton got injured last year they had three losses.
- 12:25Speaker 6: I think two of them or three of them were
- 12:27Speaker 6: when he was out. It was a significant drop in
- 12:31Speaker 6: the offense. And they knew that if they want to
- 12:35Speaker 6: be able to lean into this scheme a little bit,
- 12:37Speaker 6: you can't just have Brenton Strange.
- 12:40Speaker 1: It's not like they're going to come out and only
- 12:42Speaker 1: be in that formation.
- 12:43Speaker 6: But last year they couldn't run those things effectively that
- 12:48Speaker 6: they saw other teams were able to take advantages of
- 12:52Speaker 6: defenses with. And look, if you like Liam, which all
- 12:57Speaker 6: Jaguars fans should, you got to know that if there's
- 13:02Speaker 6: something going on with defenses that can be taken advantage of,
- 13:06Speaker 6: he's going to want to get to that.
- 13:07Speaker 1: So I think this is what that was about.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Loss to Seattle, Los Angeles and Houston without Breton, and
- 13:14Speaker 4: that Houston game in particular in the fourth quarter where
- 13:16Speaker 4: they couldn't get a first down, you have to think
- 13:18Speaker 4: that one of the quarterback's favorite targets would have helped them.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Move the chains.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Absolutely. Let's talk about a little bit about some of
- 13:24Speaker 2: the big guys. Albert Regis out of Texas, A and
- 13:26Speaker 2: M defensive tackle, and then Emmanuel Pregnant who we saw
- 13:29Speaker 2: celebrating offensive lineman out of Oregon, and we just we talked,
- 13:36Speaker 2: right We were like, hey, we need defensive tackle obviously
- 13:39Speaker 2: more presence inside, and I think what they like about
- 13:41Speaker 2: him is some versatility to then move some other pieces
- 13:44Speaker 2: around well.
- 13:44Speaker 4: And this is also a strategic pick for the future
- 13:47Speaker 4: of the franchise because Devon Hamilton is in the final
- 13:50Speaker 4: year of his contract, so you're always looking to find
- 13:54Speaker 4: guys for depth and quality, but also for the future.
- 13:57Speaker 4: And he's a second pardon me, a third round pick,
- 14:00Speaker 4: and you expect a guy who's a third round pick
- 14:02Speaker 4: to be capable coming in and being a starter. There
- 14:04Speaker 4: were a couple of selections that they made over the
- 14:06Speaker 4: weekend where you could see strategically how they were setting
- 14:09Speaker 4: themselves up to be able to fill gaps when they
- 14:12Speaker 4: lose players to either retirement or free agency.
- 14:14Speaker 6: Yeah, my guess I think Devon will be here for
- 14:17Speaker 6: a little longer than that. But I think the key
- 14:21Speaker 6: here with regis this was a draft that it was
- 14:24Speaker 6: very difficult to find pass.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Rush at the defensive tackle position.
- 14:28Speaker 6: His stats don't say he's a pass rusher, but when
- 14:30Speaker 6: you listen to people talk about him, he's got quickness,
- 14:33Speaker 6: he's got penetration ability. I don't know that he's going
- 14:37Speaker 6: to be an Aaron Donald, a twelve sack pass rusher.
- 14:40Speaker 6: Those guys are very, very rare, but I think they
- 14:43Speaker 6: had to look in this draft for sort of hidden
- 14:46Speaker 6: guys who could get some penetration that maybe everybody else
- 14:50Speaker 6: didn't think could get penetration. So I think they think
- 14:53Speaker 6: there's some ability there with this guy.
- 14:55Speaker 5: To do that.
- 14:55Speaker 2: And I feel like at least the last couple of years,
- 14:58Speaker 2: a lot of some of the issues with the pass rushes,
- 15:01Speaker 2: no penetration in the middle, is making it more difficult
- 15:04Speaker 2: for them to keep the edge, and that'll only help
- 15:06Speaker 2: everybody else out right. It's a team sport at the
- 15:08Speaker 2: end of the day, and we talk about when you
- 15:09Speaker 2: can get a little push from from inside, that's only
- 15:11Speaker 2: gonna help Josh Heinzellen and Traymon Walker on the outside.
- 15:13Speaker 4: If the quarterback can't step up, he has to choose
- 15:16Speaker 4: forty one or forty four?
- 15:18Speaker 5: Which one can I be.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Emmanuel Pregnant coming out of Oregon. Can never have enough lineman.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I knew Tony wasn't gonna let us get out of
- 15:24Speaker 2: the weekend without adding to the offensive line. But another
- 15:27Speaker 2: big body, and it's when it comes to lineman. Obviously
- 15:31Speaker 2: you have to get him in here and see where
- 15:32Speaker 2: they are. But just energy wise, feels like he's on
- 15:34Speaker 2: the right page.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Well it.
- 15:39Speaker 6: Linemen ideally, unless they're first rounders, you don't want them
- 15:45Speaker 6: playing early. You led to have them have time to develop.
- 15:48Speaker 6: Right now, they have Milon and Pregnant, who they have
- 15:51Speaker 6: brought in who you could easily see being the starting
- 15:55Speaker 6: guards for this team from twenty seven to forward, and
- 15:59Speaker 6: Bank Milon might be this year. So if there was
- 16:03Speaker 6: a guy who is sort of the consensus, why did
- 16:07Speaker 6: he go solo guy.
- 16:08Speaker 1: In this Jaguars draft. It's Pregnant.
- 16:11Speaker 6: A lot of people like him and he certainly has
- 16:13Speaker 6: the traits to make you think that he could. It's
- 16:17Speaker 6: hard to change an entire offensive line on the fly.
- 16:20Speaker 6: They started to do it last year. You can see
- 16:22Speaker 6: the direction that they want to go with this pigwack.
- 16:24Speaker 4: And he's a left guard, right you talk to people,
- 16:27Speaker 4: you told that he is primarily a left side player.
- 16:30Speaker 4: And go back to the contracts and the roster. You've
- 16:33Speaker 4: got Ezra Klin, Ezra Cleveland who's going into the final
- 16:37Speaker 4: year of his deal. So you need a young body
- 16:40Speaker 4: that can compete this year and eventually take over. And
- 16:42Speaker 4: when you look at it, you've got Anton Harrison, you
- 16:45Speaker 4: got Wyatt Milam. Joan Manheim is a guy that they
- 16:47Speaker 4: have some affection for that they think can become a player.
- 16:50Speaker 4: And now you plug in Emmanuel Pregnant. You feel pretty good,
- 16:53Speaker 4: especially with Cole coming back from his injury, of having
- 16:56Speaker 4: your offensive line of the future in place.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Perhaps this year.
- 17:00Speaker 2: The offensive line is just such an injury plagued position too.
- 17:02Speaker 2: You can really never have enough, because I mean, I
- 17:04Speaker 2: can't remember a season where any team I've covered made
- 17:08Speaker 2: it through with the exact same five starting five the
- 17:10Speaker 2: entire year without any injury. So it's definitely a position
- 17:13Speaker 2: where you want to have that flexibility.
- 17:14Speaker 6: And you have eight who have started coming back on
- 17:17Speaker 6: the line that doesn't include myelin or pregnant. So if
- 17:21Speaker 6: you're wondering how you keep a group replenished, how you
- 17:26Speaker 6: bring along depth behind an already functioning group, they've clearly
- 17:31Speaker 6: got their system in place at linebacker.
- 17:34Speaker 1: We see how they're going to try.
- 17:35Speaker 5: To approach this.
- 17:35Speaker 4: It's been a really good coaching staff too. They got
- 17:38Speaker 4: the most out of players last year. I mean Trevor Lawrence,
- 17:41Speaker 4: Anton Harrison, Devin Lloyd, Antonio Johnson. I mean you go
- 17:47Speaker 4: down the list, Breton Strange, Parker Washington, they get the
- 17:49Speaker 4: most out of these guys. They got more out of
- 17:51Speaker 4: them than the previous staff did. And so from that perspective,
- 17:54Speaker 4: you've got these young guys and you feel good about
- 17:56Speaker 4: their ability to develop.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Them the right way.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Do so to go a little bit later in the draft,
- 18:01Speaker 2: two wide receivers and a couple edge players and a safety,
- 18:05Speaker 2: Jalen Husky, the safety out of Maryland. I know coach
- 18:08Speaker 2: Campanelle talking to me about it. First thing he said,
- 18:11Speaker 2: He's like, he's a hitter. That's all you want to
- 18:13Speaker 2: hear from defensive coach, he couldn't be more excited about it.
- 18:16Speaker 2: But adding some depth to a position we feel like
- 18:18Speaker 2: is pretty well staffed at this point but was really
- 18:20Speaker 2: plagued by injury last year.
- 18:21Speaker 6: With a safety position, he's depth. But the way they
- 18:26Speaker 6: play safety around here, they like to play three, right,
- 18:29Speaker 6: And you have Antonio Johnson, you have Eric Murray, and
- 18:32Speaker 6: you have Caleb Ransall coming back.
- 18:34Speaker 1: But that's three.
- 18:35Speaker 6: And now if you get an injury, Raylan Lane and
- 18:41Speaker 6: Husky are both guys who can play. So I think
- 18:44Speaker 6: this it's some I apologize for that. This is a
- 18:50Speaker 6: guy who at some point will be on the field
- 18:52Speaker 6: this year.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Well, if you're going to play against more call if
- 18:56Speaker 4: you're going to see three tight ends, you're.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Gonna need more safeties.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:58Speaker 4: If that's the trend in the league on offense they
- 19:01Speaker 4: have more tight ends, you're going to want bigger safeties
- 19:03Speaker 4: who can match up better with tight ends than perhaps.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Linebackers, and this might be your guy. He not only
- 19:10Speaker 2: is bigger, hits interceptions, is a bit of a ballhawk
- 19:13Speaker 2: as well. He's had a good amount of interceptions during
- 19:15Speaker 2: his college career, and we all know they like to
- 19:18Speaker 2: take the ball away and.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Antonio Johnson's going into the final year PiZZ deal.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Yes, then said he's ready to get.
- 19:23Speaker 2: He said he want talk about it more.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Who are some of the other guys that you're kind
- 19:27Speaker 2: of looking at later? I mean, obviously we don't know
- 19:29Speaker 2: a ton of them until they get in here, and
- 19:30Speaker 2: then there's some of the lesser known guys, But any
- 19:32Speaker 2: names stand out? Well.
- 19:33Speaker 5: I listened Wesley Williams.
- 19:34Speaker 4: I watched your interview with him and was just captivated
- 19:37Speaker 4: by his intensity, the way that he is a gifted communicator. Right,
- 19:44Speaker 4: He's a duke with a degree in public policy and
- 19:47Speaker 4: headed to law school afterwards. But he is a guy
- 19:49Speaker 4: who john they can do a lot of interesting things
- 19:52Speaker 4: with him. They can put him outside and we've trade
- 19:53Speaker 4: on inside.
- 19:54Speaker 5: He's built.
- 19:55Speaker 4: I mean, I saw a video of him squatting in
- 19:57Speaker 4: the duke locker room with his teammates around him. He's
- 19:59Speaker 4: strong enough that you can put him inside with Trayvon
- 20:02Speaker 4: perhaps and have two of those undersized, quick, strong pass
- 20:06Speaker 4: rushers and be able to do something else on the outside.
- 20:09Speaker 4: I mean, I just I think he's a chess piece,
- 20:11Speaker 4: and I'm excited about seeing what he brings.
- 20:14Speaker 5: To the table.
- 20:14Speaker 6: Well, James Glastone likes talking about at bats late in
- 20:17Speaker 6: the draft, and it feels like between Strigau Green Wessey Williams,
- 20:23Speaker 6: you've got some at bats now outside defensive end where okay,
- 20:28Speaker 6: let's see who's ready. Let's see who can give us something.
- 20:31Speaker 6: The wide receivers are interesting CJ. Williams and Josh Cameron.
- 20:36Speaker 6: One of Phukan Nakua's superpowers is strength, you know, very
- 20:43Speaker 6: hard to bring down.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Josh Cameron. Squats was a five twenty eight.
- 20:47Speaker 6: Yeah, you can do that, John, right, Well, if I
- 20:51Speaker 6: do it five hundred and twenty eight times, yes to it.
- 20:55Speaker 6: So but I do think that that is something that
- 20:59Speaker 6: you know was in LA and certainly was there when
- 21:03Speaker 6: he saw Puka developing. So I think that sort of
- 21:06Speaker 6: correlation you're looking for traits in the sixth and seventh round.
- 21:11Speaker 1: To me, that was probably a trait they saw with
- 21:13Speaker 1: this guy.
- 21:13Speaker 6: And so well, let's see if that can translate a
- 21:15Speaker 6: little bit to how the leagues being or the game
- 21:16Speaker 6: is being played.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Right now.
- 21:18Speaker 4: I think the roster was pretty good. We all would
- 21:20Speaker 4: agree with that. That was why they didn't have to
- 21:21Speaker 4: go for need. I'm sorry, A glaring right, you start
- 21:26Speaker 4: looking at these guys and what they bring to the
- 21:28Speaker 4: table and you realize that they have restocked the cupboard
- 21:31Speaker 4: with guys now developmental. Sure, But we just talked about
- 21:34Speaker 4: how the coaching staff does a good job with that,
- 21:36Speaker 4: how they have filled some gaps and given themselves a
- 21:39Speaker 4: level of depth and competition that makes everyone around them better,
- 21:42Speaker 4: makes the roster, makes training camp, makes the preseason more competitive,
- 21:46Speaker 4: and that's always good for a football team.
- 21:48Speaker 2: All Right. We talked about the draft picks, and we
- 21:50Speaker 2: talked about being strategically bold coming up, were in and go
- 21:52Speaker 2: over some of these other draft terms that came up
- 21:54Speaker 2: over the weekend.
- 22:05Speaker 9: The players make up his personal character's football character and
- 22:10Speaker 9: continuing to try to bring in those type of players
- 22:12Speaker 9: and to add to the culture in the locker room
- 22:15Speaker 9: and getting guys that are super competitive, that love football,
- 22:18Speaker 9: they love to compete, and the process.
- 22:20Speaker 7: That goes along with it. So it's always at the
- 22:22Speaker 7: forefront of every pick that we make, and you know,
- 22:26Speaker 7: you're trying to challenge the locker room, challenge it with
- 22:29Speaker 7: both both on the field and off the field.
- 22:32Speaker 2: It was my post draft interview with Liam Cohen, and
- 22:35Speaker 2: he's filling me in on Douval Dna. That was a
- 22:37Speaker 2: term we heard throughout the entire weekend. What does that mean.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Obviously they're trying to get culture fits in here right now,
- 22:42Speaker 2: but it's only the second year, the second draft that
- 22:44Speaker 2: they've had, so they're not going to bring in anybody
- 22:46Speaker 2: that's not going to help this team get to the
- 22:48Speaker 2: point where they want to be in terms of stettying
- 22:50Speaker 2: that culture, being tough, being physical, and I felt like
- 22:53Speaker 2: that was a focus for all of these players that
- 22:55Speaker 2: you brought in. I don't think anybody is not willing
- 22:58Speaker 2: to make a blog or participate on special teams. These
- 23:01Speaker 2: are all guys that will do whatever they need to
- 23:03Speaker 2: do to be on.
- 23:03Speaker 5: The football field.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Listen, this is just a feeling. I can't back it
- 23:07Speaker 4: up with anything. Just my you know, visceral observation. These
- 23:10Speaker 4: guys are all on the same page. Tony, Liam and
- 23:13Speaker 4: James know exactly what they want. I didn't feel that
- 23:17Speaker 4: with the administration before. I don't think I felt that
- 23:21Speaker 4: since there was one voice in this building and Tom
- 23:23Speaker 4: Kaughlin back in the day. Listen, there can be disagreements
- 23:27Speaker 4: on players and positions and things like that, but they
- 23:31Speaker 4: know exactly what they want.
- 23:33Speaker 5: They communicate on such.
- 23:35Speaker 4: A shared level right that they know the kind of
- 23:40Speaker 4: player that they that they hope to bring in here.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Maybe that's why I trust them so much, because they're
- 23:46Speaker 4: so consistent in their approach and the way that they
- 23:48Speaker 4: go about gathering the information and trying to create this
- 23:52Speaker 4: environment where everybody feels like they can speak their mind.
- 23:55Speaker 4: What was the word that we heard, authentic? They wanted
- 23:58Speaker 4: authentic information. But man, when he's there talking, I feel
- 24:03Speaker 4: like I'm listening to Gladstone or Biselli and they are
- 24:07Speaker 4: defined as to the type of player, kind of like
- 24:10Speaker 4: we talked about earlier, the Brady led Patriots, where the
- 24:14Speaker 4: Belichick l at Patriots work and the Steelers have always
- 24:16Speaker 4: been It's.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Good to have that sort of definition.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yeah, And James talked a lot about this on the
- 24:21Speaker 1: pod too, how.
- 24:25Speaker 6: It's easy and every team I've been around has always
- 24:29Speaker 6: said we're tough and always wanted to be physical. It's
- 24:34Speaker 6: one thing to say that and think that that's what
- 24:37Speaker 6: you are. It's another thing to sort of bring it
- 24:40Speaker 6: into the process the way they do. You really get
- 24:44Speaker 6: the feeling that no player gets in here without them
- 24:49Speaker 6: passing that test.
- 24:50Speaker 1: And James says, there's certain measurements they have for it.
- 24:53Speaker 6: I kind of visualize it every time conversation is Tony
- 24:56Speaker 6: Goner They tough. Yeah, but regardless, that's the spirit of it,
- 25:00Speaker 6: and I'm saying that is a very positive thing. Hey,
- 25:03Speaker 6: let's not forget when we like this guy's speed that
- 25:07Speaker 6: we need him to be playing physical football for us
- 25:10Speaker 6: on Sunday. So I think the fact that that is
- 25:12Speaker 6: so much in the forefront of their mind, as Brian said,
- 25:17Speaker 6: it has been impressive around here in what thirteen or
- 25:21Speaker 6: fourteen months of how it's now easy to see what
- 25:26Speaker 6: they're about on the field when they talk it. And
- 25:28Speaker 6: at the end of last season, teams started realizing. I'm
- 25:32Speaker 6: not sure fans realized how tough this team was, but
- 25:35Speaker 6: teams playing against them they won games at the end
- 25:39Speaker 6: of last year, not just because Trevor was running for
- 25:41Speaker 6: touchdowns with the long hair. They were out physically and
- 25:45Speaker 6: teams were backing down from them a little bit.
- 25:47Speaker 4: It's easy to get on board when there's no gray
- 25:50Speaker 4: right when it's black or white. When you know exactly
- 25:53Speaker 4: what the expectation is, it is easy to get on board.
- 25:57Speaker 4: And when they bring players in who all know that
- 26:00Speaker 4: you could just feel it in this building. It's very
- 26:02Speaker 4: hard to translate through a television camera, but you understand
- 26:05Speaker 4: what they're doing and why they're.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Doing it and making that commitment to a john when
- 26:08Speaker 2: you talk about it's not always easy to remain on that.
- 26:11Speaker 2: You want to be tough, but okay, well we need
- 26:13Speaker 2: to make some picks.
- 26:14Speaker 1: That maybe I love this guy who runs a four
- 26:15Speaker 1: to three. Maybe not a sexy pick, but yeah, remember.
- 26:18Speaker 6: He doesn't block, and that's what the draft conversations are about. Hey, yes,
- 26:22Speaker 6: he does these things well, but then you back up
- 26:25Speaker 6: and say, h yeah, but we're going to be running
- 26:27Speaker 6: the ball forty percent of the plays and if this
- 26:29Speaker 6: receiver doesn't block, that stuff doesn't work. And teams can
- 26:33Speaker 6: really talk themselves into guys who aren't what they are,
- 26:38Speaker 6: who aren't what they want. But I think this team
- 26:42Speaker 6: does a great job of making sure, hey, you know,
- 26:45Speaker 6: remember what we're about before we let this guy come
- 26:47Speaker 6: in here.
- 26:48Speaker 2: So that's our analysis of at least do vall DNA
- 26:50Speaker 2: for now. But we also want to touch on the
- 26:52Speaker 2: consensus board because that's been a big topic on social
- 26:55Speaker 2: media over the weekend. James Glatzone was on the Zone
- 26:58Speaker 2: podcast this week, and he kind of dress that issue.
- 27:01Speaker 3: I listen to what's being said about players in a
- 27:05Speaker 3: very real way. I care about it. I listen to
- 27:07Speaker 3: those in this building and the people that we have
- 27:10Speaker 3: invited into this building, right and what their perspective is
- 27:13Speaker 3: on these players. We build consensus internally, and that is
- 27:17Speaker 3: leveraged at every pickpoint. Our wisdom of the collective is
- 27:21Speaker 3: how we phrase it, and it is what guides our
- 27:24Speaker 3: decision making. And I can tell you that when we
- 27:26Speaker 3: get up on the clock, we're looking at the draft
- 27:31Speaker 3: board and we see on it our sentiment and douvall DNA,
- 27:37Speaker 3: and those are the two north stars, so to speak,
- 27:40Speaker 3: and that is a collective output. And ultimately, when we
- 27:44Speaker 3: look at the guys that we select, we're not selecting
- 27:47Speaker 3: them without some version of consensus.
- 27:50Speaker 2: John, I know that was part of a longer conversation
- 27:52Speaker 2: with him, But it's not like he's just ignoring everybody
- 27:55Speaker 2: else's thoughts and analysis. It's just a matter of not
- 27:59Speaker 2: wanting to. I know they've talked a lot about not
- 28:01Speaker 2: wanting that group think right. They want to think independently
- 28:04Speaker 2: and then come together and see what everybody's values are
- 28:06Speaker 2: and where there's crossover and where that meets.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Yeah, how much time do we have?
- 28:09Speaker 6: Because I can afra about this And I even told
- 28:12Speaker 6: James maybe we saw it on that I didn't do
- 28:15Speaker 6: a great job asking the question, partly because I was
- 28:18Speaker 6: so flummoxed with the whole idea of.
- 28:20Speaker 1: It that I thought it was ridiculous.
- 28:23Speaker 6: But it was such a topic this weekend that I
- 28:25Speaker 6: did want to get his thoughts on it. The idea
- 28:29Speaker 6: of a consensus board that teams should be paying attention
- 28:34Speaker 6: to what is quote out there at Let me clarify this.
- 28:41Speaker 6: Teams should be aware of what they believe that other
- 28:46Speaker 6: teams are thinking during the draft so that you can
- 28:49Speaker 6: plot your strategy. And a GM should never be thinking
- 28:58Speaker 6: what does this website say about this guy's value? There's
- 29:02Speaker 6: a huge difference in that, and I love James answer.
- 29:07Speaker 6: It was what I thought he would say. Their consensus, Brian,
- 29:10Speaker 6: is built on all of the information that they spend
- 29:14Speaker 6: countless hours and countless equity gathering.
- 29:17Speaker 1: It's why they're here.
- 29:18Speaker 6: And you know, so if I ever heard a GM say, hey,
- 29:21Speaker 6: you know, draft tech dot com said this guy was.
- 29:24Speaker 1: A second round pick, So I rolled the dice and
- 29:26Speaker 1: went with it. Okay, great, listen.
- 29:28Speaker 5: I have done.
- 29:30Speaker 4: This is my thirty second draft. I've never heard the
- 29:33Speaker 4: term collective board. I had never heard the term consensus
- 29:36Speaker 4: board in the Over the weekend after the draft, I
- 29:39Speaker 4: read it. I thought, what the hell does that mean?
- 29:41Speaker 4: There's no consensus. You work to build consensus in your room,
- 29:46Speaker 4: but there's no consensus around the league. There's no one
- 29:49Speaker 4: shared board that everyone goes to. It's preposterous. And you
- 29:53Speaker 4: talk about knowing what other teams are thinking, they've always
- 29:58Speaker 4: worked to know that.
- 29:59Speaker 5: They pick ap the phone.
- 30:00Speaker 4: They call other scouts scouts, not web draft internet gurus.
- 30:06Speaker 5: They go scouts and they talk to them.
- 30:09Speaker 4: They share information, they get a little information, they give
- 30:11Speaker 4: a little bit of information. But it's frustrating because and
- 30:16Speaker 4: Mel Kuiper Junior has to do this right. I mean,
- 30:18Speaker 4: he has built this industry and everyone has followed in
- 30:21Speaker 4: his footsteps.
- 30:22Speaker 5: But his analysis of.
- 30:23Speaker 4: The Jaguars draft said, well, I had this guy as
- 30:27Speaker 4: a fifth round pick.
- 30:29Speaker 5: Who cares. You're not a general manager, You're not picking
- 30:32Speaker 5: for these teams.
- 30:33Speaker 4: And listen, Mel doesn't care what you think because he's
- 30:35Speaker 4: just to chang to ching to ching, making money. And God,
- 30:37Speaker 4: blessed him. Good for him, But it doesn't matter what
- 30:40Speaker 4: Dan Brugler or Mel Kuiper or even Pete Prisco right,
- 30:44Speaker 4: who we love. Their opinions are their opinions, and they
- 30:48Speaker 4: don't make decisions here based on that. So they thought
- 30:51Speaker 4: that Nate Borkacher was a fifth round pick. They didn't
- 30:54Speaker 4: see it in this draft room that way. And we
- 30:56Speaker 4: were just talking about the Duval DNA and how dialed
- 30:59Speaker 4: in they are.
- 31:00Speaker 5: On what's important to them. Once they get what's important to.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Them, they don't pay attention to what draft analysts are
- 31:08Speaker 4: saying on ESPN or Jaguars dot com.
- 31:11Speaker 6: The nice thing about this is the course of a
- 31:14Speaker 6: couple of years, we're gonna find out. And that's really
- 31:17Speaker 6: That's always the amazingly comical thing to me about the drafts.
- 31:20Speaker 6: And I struggle with it because I tried to give
- 31:23Speaker 6: some you know, real information.
- 31:26Speaker 1: When I write and speak, I always do a great job.
- 31:28Speaker 1: That's the effort. With the draft. It's very, very difficult
- 31:31Speaker 1: because people want to know right now what it is,
- 31:33Speaker 1: and the reality is you don't know.
- 31:36Speaker 6: If you're talking about well I graded them this way, well, okay, great.
- 31:42Speaker 1: When they drafted Britain, Strange and Parker Washington.
- 31:45Speaker 6: Had I been an independent app analyst, I probably would
- 31:48Speaker 6: have said DS because I hadn't heard of right, well
- 31:51Speaker 6: egg on my face, right. So that's what I always
- 31:54Speaker 6: try to keep in mind whenever I look at a
- 31:56Speaker 6: draft of Hey, this is great, but you just don't know.
- 32:01Speaker 6: The Seahawks, famously in twenty twelve was it I won
- 32:05Speaker 6: the Super Bowl with the with the core of their
- 32:08Speaker 6: team and draft class, they got resounding fs. So at
- 32:11Speaker 6: that point you should know what draft grades mean.
- 32:13Speaker 4: The draft process, by its nature kai is subjective, right,
- 32:17Speaker 4: It's an opinion based on facts. You put data there
- 32:21Speaker 4: and they come up with their board. But the result,
- 32:24Speaker 4: which we always have said is three years from now,
- 32:26Speaker 4: is very objective. You can go and see how many
- 32:29Speaker 4: games did they play, how many guys are still on
- 32:30Speaker 4: the roster, what kind of results did they create. So
- 32:35Speaker 4: we're going from all this subjective to now a very
- 32:38Speaker 4: objective at the end of the twenty twenty seven season,
- 32:40Speaker 4: you put a grade on what they did. You just
- 32:43Speaker 4: can't do it instantly.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It's too early to know, but it will be interesting
- 32:47Speaker 2: to see how it progresses. Certainly, and it was a
- 32:49Speaker 2: different draft force around here in Jacksonville, so that makes
- 32:52Speaker 2: it unique in its own self. Stay with us here
- 32:54Speaker 2: on jag Zam. We'll tell you what's coming up the
- 32:55Speaker 2: rest of the week.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Welcome back.
- 33:03Speaker 2: As Jaguars get ready for the twenty twenty six season,
- 33:06Speaker 2: make your deposits for your tickets now. It's limited seating,
- 33:09Speaker 2: so the stadium will be opened, but the upper deck
- 33:12Speaker 2: is closed. It looks different every time we come in.
- 33:14Speaker 2: There's some other giant piece of concrete moving in. They're
- 33:16Speaker 2: building the outer concourse. It's looking really cool, but there
- 33:19Speaker 2: will be less seatings, so make sure you check out
- 33:20Speaker 2: Jaguars dot com, slash ticketing and get your get locked
- 33:23Speaker 2: in for your tickets now so you don't miss any
- 33:25Speaker 2: of those matchups.
- 33:25Speaker 5: I think it's gonna be kind of cool. She was like, Hey,
- 33:27Speaker 5: I got this idea.
- 33:28Speaker 10: Let's let a Cary, you know, put out some cups.
- 33:31Speaker 10: Let's let her crawl what she thinks. And I was
- 33:33Speaker 10: like whatever, Like I don't really not whatever in a
- 33:36Speaker 10: way of like I don't care, but like I was
- 33:38Speaker 10: like sure. I was like why not? And then I'll
- 33:40Speaker 10: go and play the game. And then her family's in town.
- 33:43Speaker 10: So they all did it, and I'm watching in the background,
- 33:45Speaker 10: and then every time they're like, she went to Jacksonville.
- 33:48Speaker 5: She went to Jacksonville.
- 33:48Speaker 10: She went to Jacksonville, and I was like, well, since
- 33:51Speaker 10: the end of the season, I've been saying, do ball
- 33:53Speaker 10: is where I want to be? And she went three
- 33:56Speaker 10: times and then it was just like, well, God gets
- 34:01Speaker 10: written in the books.
- 34:02Speaker 5: I was God never lies, and I mean, I'm hearing it.
- 34:06Speaker 5: It's just amazing.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Alb Regis his daughter had a little esp picked out
- 34:11Speaker 2: the Jaguars Cup when given the options of where he
- 34:13Speaker 2: wanted to go. Maybe she likes kitty cats, not really sure,
- 34:16Speaker 2: or maybe there's a couple of videos.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Of that versions.
- 34:19Speaker 4: The irony is that it says in his bio grew
- 34:23Speaker 4: up a diehard Houston Texans fan.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Converted, converting some fans in the family. I'm sure, absolutely
- 34:31Speaker 2: such a cool experience. Obviously, the rookies aren't in this week.
- 34:33Speaker 2: I think is it next week?
- 34:35Speaker 1: Mini Camp next Friday and Saturday.
- 34:38Speaker 2: So we'll get him in here. A big class of
- 34:42Speaker 2: undrafted free agents as well. And what's cool about what
- 34:45Speaker 2: they did last year is we got some really good
- 34:47Speaker 2: contributions out of bj Green and Danny Striga. We're both undrafted,
- 34:50Speaker 2: So there's that's a group as well that when we
- 34:52Speaker 2: get them in here, we'll get to see some other
- 34:54Speaker 2: new faces that maybe we hadn't heard of before that
- 34:56Speaker 2: could be contributors.
- 34:57Speaker 6: Yeah, there's some guys running back from Virginia, uh and
- 35:01Speaker 6: offensive tackle from you.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I mean, I lie from UCLA. Three guys went to.
- 35:05Speaker 6: The combine, but the combine doesn't always indicate who the
- 35:10Speaker 6: really good guys are. Some of the guys last year
- 35:12Speaker 6: who were really good were not guys that you thought
- 35:15Speaker 6: initially serg All and Green when you first looked at
- 35:18Speaker 6: the bios probably didn't translate into being what they were.
- 35:22Speaker 6: So point being these eighteen, I think there's probably four
- 35:27Speaker 6: or five guys they really like, who are very excited
- 35:30Speaker 6: about who could contribute.
- 35:32Speaker 4: No grade, but I thought it was a really solid
- 35:34Speaker 4: effort and feeling a lot of spots where you needed competition.
- 35:38Speaker 4: But you also get Caleb Bransaw and Jayala McLoud back
- 35:41Speaker 4: and you hope to have Wyatt Milem healthy through training camp.
- 35:44Speaker 4: So I mean those are three guys that you kind
- 35:46Speaker 4: of added this class and say there is a lot
- 35:48Speaker 4: of potential for this team to be better this year
- 35:51Speaker 4: because of young players Also.
- 35:53Speaker 2: If you guys haven't seen it, Zach Durphy, who was
- 35:55Speaker 2: picked the edge player picked in the seventh round, was
- 35:57Speaker 2: player accent for the ESPN article this year, which is
- 36:00Speaker 2: just with a blind item they do about what they
- 36:02Speaker 2: think is the most underrated prospect. That's a pretty interesting
- 36:04Speaker 2: story and they have an update to it now that
- 36:06Speaker 2: it's been revealed, so that's interesting. You definitely want to
- 36:08Speaker 2: check that out. We'll be here kind of analyzing everything
- 36:12Speaker 2: and we'll be back with you again next week, so
- 36:14Speaker 2: have a good one.
