underestimated China for decades now and we are now vulnerable. James or Bradley,

the flora is yours. Tell us what you mean by all that, Well,

it's wonderful to join you. What we mean by that is the United

States won the Cold War, but essentially lost the peace. What we did

is we scondered every asset and the ability that we had at the wake of
21:36
the Cold War due to Dung Jao Ping communist leader's strategy that he executed against
21:42
us, what's called the Hide and by strategy, where what he did is
21:48
he reached out to American firms, the US Chamber of Commerce, Wall Street
21:52
investors and made them partners in the growth and thus the survival of the Chinese
21:57
Communist Party by having them come into China, do their manufacturing there, use
22:03
their money, that is American money, to build China, and as a
22:08
consequence of that, the American business community and the political parties, sadly,
22:15
both political parties, although this really happened and started under Bill Clinton's presidency,
22:22
contributed to what we call the Engagement school, where engagement with China, working
22:29
with China in the hope of reforming it, perhaps making it more democratic and
22:36
more if you will, Western. It was a foolish belief, but so
22:41
many people believed it. The Engagement school basically dominated the American national security community

and contributed to what we call threat deflation, where the US national security community,
22:55
our military, our intelligence community consistently year after year underestimated the growth of

China's military and China's power, So year after year it was underestimated, while
23:08
at the same time it grew again year after year to become the great power
23:14
that it is today. In nineteen ninety, it was about zero point six
23:18
percent of world gross domestic product. In twenty nineteen, it was about nineteen
23:22
percent of world gross domestic product. That was a remarkable development, and it
23:27
was largely the US that was responsible for it. And that's the argument of
23:33
the book. We explained the causes of how this happened, and we explained
23:37
the major consequences of this and what the US should do about it today.

All right, So, James Bradley, whoever wants to grab this one,

I mean, my belief is that China's at the root of all of our

problems. Their buy off the politicians, especially they brought the Democrat politicians to

destroy our country, to be dominant, off to worry about climate change well,

and make ourselves energy dependent instead of under Trump we were energy independent,

to make us spend so much money on green energy while they're building coal plants

and gas plants and they're destroying us and leaving the border open for their fentanyl.

All of our problems are because our politicians have been bribed by the Chinese.

Your thoughts, well, I think it's pretty clear with this administration that

we were seeing a lot of evidence at the top where there's the you know,

the reports of the receipts that the Congress has brought showing evidence that you

know, there's direct payments to the top of the top of the White House,

and that's still to be resolved in terms of the Congress. But the

implications of what you said are really revealed in the laws that are not passed,

the defense of our border, the defense of our nation. Just in

terms of the military, the things that Brad described in terms of how we
25:06
funded the PRC's rise over the last thirty five years has had gone into their
25:11
building up of their military. So we have a clear and unambiguous evidence that

the PRC intends to displace the United States of America, not destroy it.

And it doesn't seem that anybody in Washington was really interested in that. And

we explain to the book that a lot of that started off for reasons because

we wanted to put pressure on the Soviet Union back in the early seventies when

Nixon and Kissinger and went to China. But by nineteen eighty nine and we

saw Tenem and Square and what the Chinese had done, it was pretty clear

then that they were not just some peaceful, loving Chinese people that wanted to
25:53
get rich. They were communists, and we've seen that grow over the years,

and now with g it's unambiguous that they're using all the elements of national

power to achieve their goals, which is this great rejuvenation that they want to

have where they become the number one superpower in the world. And that's why

you have things like the Belton Road Initiative. Now they're talking about a Global

Development Initiative, a Global Security Initiative, and now the newest one is a

Global Civilization Initiative. And the Chinese Communist Party will be in charge of all

of that, and they will use bribery to help them achieve their goals.

And so we shouldn't be surprised about that. But what we should be saying

to ourselves is what are we doing to make sure that we don't have people

that are bribed and corrupt in our system? And let's get them out.

mean, if we had a war with China, our military is falling apart,

They make all the antibiotics and most of our drugs, and at the same

time that's happening. If they decide to take over Taiwan, Taiwan controls all

of the computer chips that we need to run our cars. Our computers are

tanks. So I mean, how would we even fight a war against China

at this point, Well, it would be terribly difficult. But it's again

a situation that we caused. It was we shifted American manufacturing and knowledge right

ways of operating how to do things to China. We did that right so

Wall Street could make more money, right, so investors could profit a little

bit more. Our factories left Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and surfaced

in China where they could exploit the labor of the Chinese people. And as

a result of that, of course, as we saw with covid away with

the personal productive equipment, right, the pharmaceuticals penicillin, right, these the

drugs that we need, as well as the personal protective equipment, the masks

were there. It all came from China, and that the beginning of it.

So the pandemic did as well. So what does that tell a ship

fact that they're the world's largest manufacture of vessels airplanes, Right, they're basically
