- 0:00Speaker 1: A couple of things yesterday that were kind of odd.
- 0:04Speaker 1: One is that I was I was home and I
- 0:07Speaker 1: was working on some I don't know, some paperwork of
- 0:10Speaker 1: some sort, I mean, knocks at the door. I go
- 0:13Speaker 1: to the door and there's a couple standing there, a
- 0:15Speaker 1: man and a woman and the guy. At first I
- 0:18Speaker 1: thought the guy was Paul Wilson. But and but then
- 0:22Speaker 1: I realized, no, he looks like Paul Wilson looked, you know,
- 0:26Speaker 1: twenty thirty years ago.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I probably I'm.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Sure it was time warp.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Paul Wilson was an old program director and radio colleague
- 0:34Speaker 1: of ours. So I'm sure Paul Wilson does not look
- 0:36Speaker 1: like that any Probably not. And he was, but he
- 0:39Speaker 1: had that kind of scruffy beard looking you know, and
- 0:41Speaker 1: yuh and uh. And then he was with a woman
- 0:44Speaker 1: who was wearing an iHeart Beaver T shirt. And I said, yes,
- 0:49Speaker 1: can I help you the thrill of living downtown?
- 0:53Speaker 2: They said it's colorful?
- 0:56Speaker 1: They said it does. And they said the name of
- 1:00Speaker 1: my youngest child, does so and so live here? And
- 1:04Speaker 1: I said, yeah, why why do you want to know?
- 1:08Speaker 2: What is it?
- 1:09Speaker 1: And then they held up this beautiful wallet that my
- 1:13Speaker 1: child has it's this beautiful brocade wallet with all full
- 1:20Speaker 1: of ideas. It's like an id case and it's small.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And they said, we were out on a walk and
- 1:26Speaker 1: we found this that was and I said, oh, that's
- 1:29Speaker 1: so nice. I mean I recognized it immediately. It's a
- 1:32Speaker 1: beautiful up and I said, that's very real. That's so nice.
- 1:35Speaker 1: If you thank you so much. And they said, no,
- 1:37Speaker 1: no big deal. Just you know, we were all that.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Is a big deal. Though a lot of people wouldn't
- 1:41Speaker 3: bother me to do that.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I said, where where did you Yeah, like the person
- 1:44Speaker 1: who took your luggage from the airport exactly. And I
- 1:46Speaker 1: said where did you find it? And they told me
- 1:48Speaker 1: and I said, oh, yeah, that's kind of like around
- 1:50Speaker 1: the bus stop. I think, I guess. I hope. I
- 1:55Speaker 1: hope my kid got home on the.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Bus okay, because they weren't home.
- 1:59Speaker 1: No, no, and the because the I'm sure the bus
- 2:03Speaker 1: passed was in the in the wallet, you know, and
- 2:06Speaker 1: uh uh And they said, well I hope so too,
- 2:09Speaker 1: but there you go. Said well, thanks a lot, and
- 2:11Speaker 1: then the phone rang and it was my my kid saying, uh,
- 2:16Speaker 1: they had gotten home on the bus or gotten to
- 2:18Speaker 1: the bus stop, and they were walking toward the house
- 2:22Speaker 1: and then realized the wallet was not in their pocket,
- 2:27Speaker 1: so it just it fell out somehow, and uh in
- 2:31Speaker 1: the process of going back to look for it, and
- 2:34Speaker 1: had kind of a panic in the voice. I've been
- 2:36Speaker 1: retracing my steps, and I said, no, no, don't worry,
- 2:39Speaker 1: I've got it right here.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Didn't teach them a lesson. I don't know. That's unfortunate.
- 2:47Speaker 2: You got to keep better track, you know that.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I mean, that was really nice of them and I
- 2:51Speaker 1: and I thought God should have given given them a
- 2:53Speaker 1: reward or something. But I'm sure if I had said, well, here,
- 2:57Speaker 1: you know, let me give you something for your trouble,
- 2:58Speaker 1: they would have said no, no, no no. And then
- 3:01Speaker 1: the other thing that was odd that happened and I
- 3:03Speaker 1: didn't even notice that.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Notice it.
- 3:05Speaker 1: My my car has been in the autobody shop. I
- 3:10Speaker 1: ripped the mirror off of the off of it in
- 3:13Speaker 1: a stupid maneuver on the garage, and so it's been
- 3:17Speaker 1: in the in the body shop for a few days.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And I got it back yesterday and it looks great.
- 3:22Speaker 1: They did a great job, and I was happy to
- 3:25Speaker 1: have my car back and I went home and then
- 3:28Speaker 1: my wife took the car and went someplace and then
- 3:30Speaker 1: texted me and said, and texted me a picture. The
- 3:35Speaker 1: front license plate of the car is exactly upside down.
- 3:41Speaker 3: So they took it off to do work and put it.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Back on upside down.
- 3:45Speaker 1: You know, the license I've got a stocked in twelve
- 3:48Speaker 1: Honda license plate frame that's upside down and the license
- 3:53Speaker 1: plate is upside down.
- 3:55Speaker 2: They did they allow a blind person.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Do that?
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I thought it was pretty funny.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I said, well, it's I'll drive by there today and
- 4:08Speaker 1: and and say could you could you could you fix
- 4:12Speaker 1: this please? I mean, I guess I could probably do
- 4:14Speaker 1: it myself. It's just a matter of some screws, I think.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But I think they should know about it, just say, uh,
- 4:21Speaker 1: look at that. It's that interesting. And it was. I
- 4:24Speaker 1: thought it was pretty funny, and I said yeah. My
- 4:26Speaker 1: wife said, yeah, you'll think it's funny. When the cops
- 4:28Speaker 1: pull you over. I said, I said, I think I
- 4:31Speaker 1: just stole a car. Maybe I'll just leave it like that,
- 4:33Speaker 1: And they said, no, you no, you don't do that.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I don't think the police probably front Yeah, the front.
- 4:39Speaker 3: One, Well, you don't need a front plate.
- 4:42Speaker 2: That's true at all. That's true.
- 4:44Speaker 1: That's the that's the latest thing is that the front
- 4:46Speaker 1: plate is not necessary. Well, I have one, and I'm
- 4:48Speaker 1: going to keep it. I I am a two plate person.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I want the black and white plate backlogged. I love
- 4:58Speaker 3: the black and white.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I got mine. There wasn't much of a weight at all.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Somebody told me the other day said, I said, I
- 5:05Speaker 1: think those are ugly. I'm just ugly. They're not colorful,
- 5:09Speaker 1: They're just I said. I kind of like it, but
- 5:14Speaker 1: I don't. I generally don't go out of my way
- 5:16Speaker 1: to get special plates of any kind, though I did
- 5:19Speaker 1: once and I and I felt I don't want.
- 5:22Speaker 2: To ever do it again.
- 5:23Speaker 3: You were coarse.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I was kind of coerced. I was also coerced.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Carrie cannot be coerced. He does exactly what he wants
- 5:31Speaker 3: to do when he wants to do.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Oh, I remember that was well, you really got to
- 5:35Speaker 2: get that light.
- 5:36Speaker 1: You know. I wasn't really coerced. I felt that I
- 5:39Speaker 1: was being supportive. I thought, yeah, you know, no, I'll
- 5:42Speaker 1: do that. I'm being supportive of of of a worthy cause.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I guess worthy cause, well, of a cause.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I'm trying to be supportive to say, Look, I'm a
- 5:52Speaker 1: company man and.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I will live again. Look for being a company man
- 5:59Speaker 2: gets you. But those those black what are they black
- 6:02Speaker 2: and white? Yeah?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Those that's what the Utah license plates looked like when
- 6:08Speaker 1: I was a little kid.
- 6:09Speaker 2: That's why I like it.
- 6:10Speaker 3: They're super retro.
- 6:12Speaker 2: And I don't know who's telling you their backlog. I
- 6:14Speaker 2: got mine in a timely fashion.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Well that's why I don't have it is when I
- 6:17Speaker 3: got mine. They said their backlog.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Maybe they're maybe they're they caught up. Well, they wanted
- 6:22Speaker 2: to know, they wanted to step up.
- 6:24Speaker 1: They said they were trying to step up because they're
- 6:25Speaker 1: making a ton of money on them, because I mean,
- 6:29Speaker 1: you don't get them for nothing.
- 6:30Speaker 2: You got to pay extra. Somebody says it took them
- 6:32Speaker 2: only three weeks. There's somebody who says a week and
- 6:35Speaker 2: a half.
- 6:36Speaker 1: So they must be catching Yeah, I think they're caught
- 6:38Speaker 1: up now. I think they put on they put some extra.
- 6:40Speaker 1: They got they got more prisoners.
- 6:43Speaker 3: You know, I have the one when we went out
- 6:45Speaker 3: to the prison, remember when we did our show at
- 6:47Speaker 3: the Doing Time Cafe, which is not there because none
- 6:52Speaker 3: of it's there anymore. But they gave us all Yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 3: personalized plates that they had made.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I think mine is on my desk.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I've got mine at home, personalized license plate that they
- 7:03Speaker 1: made for us at the Utah State Prison with prisoner
- 7:07Speaker 1: fingerprints all over it. So but I think, yeah, they
- 7:11Speaker 1: stepped up the production of those black and white ones
- 7:13Speaker 1: because they were.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Making a ton of money on them. People love them. Yeah, Oh,
- 7:19Speaker 2: I like mine. They're just they're sleek, sleek. It's a
- 7:23Speaker 2: good way to put it. Let's see.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Uh, well mine has mine has delicate arch on it,
- 7:31Speaker 1: and that's my son in law asked for one when registering,
- 7:37Speaker 1: asked if he could trade out the plate for the
- 7:39Speaker 1: black one, and they just handed him one.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I guess they're I guess they're allows.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Now.
- 7:44Speaker 2: They got plenty of them. If you want one, that
- 7:45Speaker 2: would be the time to do it.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Somebody says, I just ordered personalized plates. Well what does
- 7:50Speaker 3: it say? We want to know what your personalized plates say.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I can't just say you got to personalize and not
- 7:56Speaker 3: tell us.
- 7:57Speaker 2: What it is. Yeah, come on you to see.
- 8:00Speaker 3: If we get it or is it so inside that
- 8:03Speaker 3: you're the only one that gets it.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Let's see. People.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Uh, yeah, it looks like they're a little oh The
- 8:13Speaker 1: money from that plate goes to the Historical Society of Utah.
- 8:18Speaker 1: But I think I read a story a while ago
- 8:21Speaker 1: that the legislature, Uh, they because they're making so much money.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I think it's too much money to give to.
- 8:27Speaker 1: The historical sotty, and they want they want some of
- 8:30Speaker 1: it to go to something in the legislature.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I would like to buy it and be able to
- 8:35Speaker 3: direct where the money goes. Yeah, should get a choice,
- 8:38Speaker 3: that would be nice.
- 8:41Speaker 2: What are they called it? So they don't cost that
- 8:43Speaker 2: much more, do they?
- 8:44Speaker 1: It's like twenty five bucks something year, twenty five every
- 8:49Speaker 1: year you have to pay twenty five bucks to have it.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Okay, that's what I want for my birthday.
- 8:54Speaker 2: What are you well? Yeah, what are you telling me?
- 8:56Speaker 3: You're just saying it out into the universe.
- 8:58Speaker 1: What because you expect the universe to buy you a
- 9:01Speaker 1: birthday present?
- 9:02Speaker 2: Here? Let me text your husband, Hey, Universe, Gina needs
- 9:06Speaker 2: a present.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Okay, Dear Joe, Gina wants the black plate for a
- 9:12Speaker 1: birthday signed the universe.
- 9:14Speaker 2: One other things. Speaking of the universe, I wrote this
- 9:17Speaker 2: quote down. It was so good.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Uh.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Now, deceased humorous Art Buckwald said this. I don't know
- 9:22Speaker 1: what happens when we die. The real question is what
- 9:26Speaker 1: are we doing here in the first place?
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought that was brilliant. What are we doing
- 9:32Speaker 2: here in the first place? Answer? Figure that out.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Do you remember Art buckwaldh I used to have a
- 9:40Speaker 1: column and
