  Speaker 1: Real grateful for that. You know, it's funny. I remember

  Speaker 1: when I first started out in the radio. A lot

  Speaker 1: of my peers laughed at me. Some of it was

  Speaker 1: being mean spirited, some of it was just you know,

  Speaker 1: marcking me. I'm used to stuff like that. But I

  Speaker 1: had a special guest on my show, Joe Oldstein, and
• 0:32
  Speaker 1: you know something, man, he said something that was I
• 0:36
  Speaker 1: can't remember the scripture. I don't know exactly how it
• 0:38
  Speaker 1: were like we were having a long conversation, but the
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: gist of it was, don't be upset with where you
• 0:44
  Speaker 1: are now, and don't be upset with the small things
• 0:47
  Speaker 1: in your life. Be grateful for the small things and
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: the small position that you have right now, because you
• 0:53
  Speaker 1: don't know where that's going. You don't know what that's
• 0:55
  Speaker 1: gonna be one day, you don't know what that's gonna
• 0:57
  Speaker 1: lead to. And that was very warming to hear him

  Speaker 1: say that. But it also reminded me of when I
• 1:03
  Speaker 1: started in radio, how small it was. It reminded me
• 1:07
  Speaker 1: of when I started in stand up making twenty five
• 1:10
  Speaker 1: dollars a show. It reminds me of not having a

  Speaker 1: home at a period in my life and what God

  Speaker 1: has allowed me to live in now. So don't be
• 1:22
  Speaker 1: distraught over your position now, and don't be ungrateful or
• 1:26
  Speaker 1: unappreciative for the things you have now because you don't
• 1:29
  Speaker 1: know what that's going to grow into. And that's really
• 1:31
  Speaker 1: the gist of that I got from what he was saying.

  Speaker 1: I just wanted to share that with you, that where
• 1:36
  Speaker 1: you are now is so temporary because now, like I've
• 1:40
  Speaker 1: said before, now is a fleeting moment. Right after you

  Speaker 1: finish saying now, that moment that you claimed as now,
• 1:47
  Speaker 1: that's gone. So the where you are now is a
• 1:51
  Speaker 1: very fleeting process. Now. You can change where you are now,
• 1:55
  Speaker 1: and you can change how you feel about where you're
• 1:57
  Speaker 1: at now, and you can change where you're going by
• 2:01
  Speaker 1: simply changing your mind. It is no difference. I'm telling you, folks.

  Speaker 1: The thing that I've learned about successful people is not
• 2:11
  Speaker 1: so much of what they do. It's not what they have.

  Speaker 1: The biggest thing I've learned about successful people is how
• 2:18
  Speaker 1: they think. That's the thing that's different. It's how they think.

  Speaker 1: And I'm telling you that you can change the way
• 2:27
  Speaker 1: you think on any subject and start becoming successful towards
• 2:32
  Speaker 1: that starting now, you have to understand that. Man, the
• 2:37
  Speaker 1: biggest difference I've noticed between successful people and non successful
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: people is how they think. I was reading what God
• 2:47
  Speaker 1: said that he was taught all wrong about money. He
• 2:51
  Speaker 1: said that his father was very negative about money. He
• 2:54
  Speaker 1: all throughout his life he heard his father say, you know,
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: people who got money have walked on somebody to get it,
• 3:01
  Speaker 1: or cheated somebody to get it. People who have money,
• 3:04
  Speaker 1: money is the root of all evil. Money is money
• 3:07
  Speaker 1: is this And people who got money, you know, don't
• 3:10
  Speaker 1: deserve it. They've done something wrong to get it. Yah
• 3:13
  Speaker 1: to y'all. So he said, he grew up the whole
• 3:15
  Speaker 1: time thinking that having money was something was wrong with that.

  Speaker 1: He discovered that it wasn't. Look. You can choose to
• 3:22
  Speaker 1: be successful anywhere you want to. I've chosen several ways
• 3:25
  Speaker 1: to be successful. I want to be a very very
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: successful father. I think that's one of the things that's
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: paramount in my life. That I really am working hard
• 3:35
  Speaker 1: right now to become a successful father, not a successful
• 3:40
  Speaker 1: father in terms of money, but a successful father in
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: terms of offering the amount of love and guidance and
• 3:48
  Speaker 1: leadership and the example that my children need to look at.

  Speaker 1: That's what I'm really really working hard at now. I
• 3:54
  Speaker 1: want to be successful as a father, but also I
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: want to be successful as a husband. You know. I

  Speaker 1: want Marjorie to always know that she can count on me,
• 4:03
  Speaker 1: to not have to wonder about me or look for me.

  Speaker 1: You know. I want her to feel secure in the
• 4:09
  Speaker 1: fact that I really have gotten it right, that I
• 4:13
  Speaker 1: really am focused on being a good husband to her
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: because it means so much to me, you know. So
• 4:20
  Speaker 1: I'm working hard on a lot of levels. I'm working
• 4:22
  Speaker 1: hard and trying very strong to be a successful motivator
• 4:26
  Speaker 1: of people. I want to be a share of information
• 4:30
  Speaker 1: to people that will uplift others and give others the
• 4:33
  Speaker 1: same things that I've learned through the trials and tribulations
• 4:37
  Speaker 1: of my life. But at the same time share that
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: information and use the power of this microphone to uplift people,
• 4:44
  Speaker 1: you know, not to destroy it. My show is not
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: about Ooh, guess what so and so said? Guess what
• 4:48
  Speaker 1: so and so did. I don't like mean spirited things
• 4:51
  Speaker 1: about people. You know, I joke with people who calling
• 4:54
  Speaker 1: this that's another thing. But I don't like destroying people
• 4:57
  Speaker 1: with the power of the microphone. So I'm working very
• 4:59
  Speaker 1: hard on being successful in a lot of areas of
• 5:01
  Speaker 1: my life now. Also I do care about being financially
• 5:04
  Speaker 1: successful too, because my father. One of the gifts he
• 5:08
  Speaker 1: gave me was very simple gift. He told me a
• 5:10
  Speaker 1: long time ago. He said, son, the best thing you
• 5:13
  Speaker 1: can do for poor people is not be one of them.
• 5:17
  Speaker 1: And that stuck with me. And this was a hard
• 5:20
  Speaker 1: working man who was a coal miner who worked construction
• 5:23
  Speaker 1: his entire life. My father didn't have an easy life. Man.
• 5:27
  Speaker 1: My father didn't sit behind a microphone. My father didn't
• 5:30
  Speaker 1: come to work and people cheered for him. My father
• 5:33
  Speaker 1: wasn't famous. My father was just a go get it dude.
• 5:38
  Speaker 1: That he instilled that in me. And I've taken that
• 5:40
  Speaker 1: and applied it to my craft and I thank God
• 5:43
  Speaker 1: for him for that. But I do try to be
• 5:45
  Speaker 1: financially successful so that I can do some things with
• 5:48
  Speaker 1: it to help some other people. Now, am I opposed
• 5:52
  Speaker 1: to having nice things? No? Do I apologize for having
• 5:55
  Speaker 1: nice things? No? And why should I I work? You know,
• 5:59
  Speaker 1: I'm done. I'm not on the radio asking to give
• 6:02
  Speaker 1: me money, you know, so I can go buy a car.
• 6:06
  Speaker 1: I'm working, so I don't feel how you want to feel,
• 6:09
  Speaker 1: and other people do feel that way about it. But
• 6:11
  Speaker 1: if success in terms of finance is what you're lacking,
• 6:15
  Speaker 1: you can go about the business of doing that. I'm
• 6:18
  Speaker 1: writing a book, and that whole book is about teaching
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: people how to become successful. And man, I'm breaking it
• 6:24
  Speaker 1: down in a way where everybody can get it, man,
• 6:27
  Speaker 1: because I want the college student to get it, you know.
• 6:30
  Speaker 1: I want the working mom to get it, the single
• 6:33
  Speaker 1: mom to get it. The hard working father that has
• 6:36
  Speaker 1: been trying to hold his family together can get it.
• 6:38
  Speaker 1: The father that ain't ever got it together and feel
• 6:41
  Speaker 1: that because of that reason, he can't be the father
• 6:44
  Speaker 1: he needs to be. I'm writing something, man, to put
• 6:47
  Speaker 1: it into words, to let you know that God is
• 6:50
  Speaker 1: a forgiving God, and that God is a merciful God,
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: and that God can get you out of any situation
• 6:57
  Speaker 1: you find yourself in. You just can't beat yourself up

  Speaker 1: every time you make a mistake. I make mistakes all
• 7:03
  Speaker 1: the time, man, I just got to remind myself to
• 7:05
  Speaker 1: get up. I ask God for forgiveness. I call on
• 7:09
  Speaker 1: his mercy and his grace and I get up and
• 7:11
  Speaker 1: I go again. But it's coming, man. And if finance
• 7:14
  Speaker 1: success is what you want, you got to change your mind.

  Speaker 1: You got to start thinking about how to produce it.

  Speaker 1: The first thing you do is you got to ask.

  Speaker 1: You got to ask to have a life and have
• 7:26
  Speaker 1: a life more abundantly. That's a scripture that He comes

  Speaker 1: to you to give you life and to give you
• 7:32
  Speaker 1: life more abundantly. That's a scripture. That ain't a joke,
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: that ain't a theory. That's a fact, and the fact
• 7:39
  Speaker 1: that if you don't have a life of abundance, you
• 7:42
  Speaker 1: can get that by asking. Then it starts by believing.
• 7:45
  Speaker 1: And how too, don't even worry about that. He takes
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: care of that himself. He'll send the stuff your way.

  Speaker 1: But you got to be willing to put some effort
• 7:52
  Speaker 1: in this thing now, and you can do it. Okay.

  Speaker 1: I know I was a little around the place today,

  Speaker 1: but that's what it was, so you know, let's go
