- 0:09Speaker 2: Now, I've got a trailer I would like to show you,
- 0:12Speaker 2: uh huh, but because the Federal Communications Commission thinks you're
- 0:16Speaker 2: all nine, I can't. But millions of people have been
- 0:22Speaker 2: watching this trailer. It's for a movie called The Monkey.
- 0:27Speaker 2: The Monkey, the Monkey. In the Monkey's case, you know,
- 0:32Speaker 2: studios left touting trailer views when possible to show how
- 0:36Speaker 2: much hype is behind their movies. And in the Monkey's case,
- 0:39Speaker 2: it has a few things going for It's based off
- 0:41Speaker 2: of Stephen King. Short story comes from Osgoode Perkins, who
- 0:46Speaker 2: did Long Legs last year for Neone, and that that
- 0:50Speaker 2: was a big hit for him. Nicholas Cage odd and creepy. Indeed,
- 0:58Speaker 2: so the Monkey's trailer. Go and watch it. It's got
- 1:04Speaker 2: shocking deaths, really dark humor, and a lot of people
- 1:08Speaker 2: are digging it. So this is what they're saying. The
- 1:12Speaker 2: Monkey now holds the title of having the most watched
- 1:14Speaker 2: independent horror film trailer ever. It hit over forty three
- 1:19Speaker 2: million worldwide views within twenty four hours of launch, and
- 1:23Speaker 2: then it blew up to over one hundred in seventy
- 1:26Speaker 2: two hours. At the time of the press release, that
- 1:29Speaker 2: number went up to one hundred and nine million across
- 1:33Speaker 2: all platforms, managed to beat out the trailers for non
- 1:37Speaker 2: indie horror films like Smile and The Black Phone and
- 1:40Speaker 2: Talk to Me and all those that were very popular,
- 1:42Speaker 2: even Nosferatu. So people are digging this trailer for the Monkey. Now,
- 1:47Speaker 2: whether that means it's a good movie or not, I
- 1:49Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:50Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 1:52Speaker 2: So go watch the Monkey trailer because you're a grown
- 1:56Speaker 2: up and you can't do it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: This blood.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah, people on people with their heads on fire. I mean,
- 2:03Speaker 2: oh geez, it's crazy.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Ah. So that's that's coming up.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Speaking of horror movies, Okay, Barbarian, you remember that movie?
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yeah, vaguely.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Oh man, It's it's really rare that a horror movie
- 2:18Speaker 2: really scares me, you know, like the last time I remember,
- 2:22Speaker 2: Baba Duke scared me.
- 2:23Speaker 1: What what's what's Barbarian about?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Barbarian is about they go to an airbnb and apparently
- 2:29Speaker 2: there's somebody living in the basement. That's right, okay, and
- 2:34Speaker 2: it's a bunch of tunnels and.
- 2:37Speaker 1: You know, a Barbarian is living there.
- 2:39Speaker 2: It's got nothing to do with I don't know why
- 2:40Speaker 2: it's called Barbarian. I really don't, but it's it's a
- 2:44Speaker 2: scary movie about this crazy person living in the basement
- 2:50Speaker 2: of an Airbnb. But the guy who made that movie,
- 2:53Speaker 2: Zach Kraiger, he has decided that he wants to do
- 2:58Speaker 2: a reboot of the Resident than Evil movies. Now, ordinarily
- 3:03Speaker 2: Hollywood had go yeah, whatever, But because this guy is
- 3:06Speaker 2: doing it, we got a bidding war. Four studios are
- 3:10Speaker 2: elbowing for the win. Warner Brothers, Netflix, a.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Bunch of them.
- 3:15Speaker 2: He is apparently a big fan of the games Resident
- 3:18Speaker 2: Evil and he wants to do something a little closer
- 3:22Speaker 2: to the games. But because this guy is involved, and
- 3:26Speaker 2: he's got this new movie called called The Companion coming
- 3:29Speaker 2: up this weekend, which I'm sure Sean Means will review.
- 3:33Speaker 2: But this guy's at Craiger knows his horror, and Hollywood
- 3:36Speaker 2: is paying attention and want to work with him. Neil Gamon, Mmm,
- 3:44Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not going about it. I'm not going
- 3:46Speaker 2: to tell you about the Neil game and stuff. If
- 3:50Speaker 2: you really want to know, which I'm sure you do,
- 3:54Speaker 2: just google Vulture Neil Gamon.
- 3:58Speaker 1: That's that's all you need.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Because vaults sure as the ones who are covering it
- 4:02Speaker 2: a lot of recent allegations of sexual assault and abuse
- 4:05Speaker 2: against the writer Neil Gaman, and following through comics publisher,
- 4:11Speaker 2: dark Horse Comics has ended its relationship with him. Said,
- 4:14Speaker 2: we take seriously the allegations against him. We are no
- 4:17Speaker 2: longer publishing his works. They were just getting ready to
- 4:21Speaker 2: release a comic book adaptation of his book, The Nancy Boys,
- 4:28Speaker 2: that Mark Bernard and co wrote with him. He says
- 4:31Speaker 2: he's incredibly proud of the work he did on the
- 4:34Speaker 2: comic book, but it all pales next to Gayman's actions.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Dark Horse will not release the trade.
- 4:39Speaker 2: My heartbreaks for the survivors and any pain seeing these
- 4:42Speaker 2: books on the shelves might have caused.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Of course, the Good Omens got.
- 4:47Speaker 2: A ninety minute finale from Amazon.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And now the question is is, oh, it's coming up. Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 2: And now the question is is what are they going
- 4:58Speaker 2: to do about the Nanci Boys adaptive which they were
- 5:01Speaker 2: gonna do on television and also season two of The Sandman.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah, they were supposed to have another season of the Yeah,
- 5:09Speaker 1: which I really enjoyed that show. It was good, It
- 5:12Speaker 1: was pretty damn good. But there you go.
- 5:16Speaker 2: We got another writer on Daisy Ridley's Star Wars movie
- 5:19Speaker 2: that brings us up to now five different writers.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Does that make you nervous?
- 5:25Speaker 2: It just says more about Lucasfilm's fear of the Star
- 5:28Speaker 2: Wars fan, which you get too many fingers in there
- 5:32Speaker 2: and then it doesn't end up being anything.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Well, this guy's more of an action writer.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Apparently he did like Ocean's twelve and one of the
- 5:40Speaker 2: Bourne movies.
- 5:42Speaker 1: So we'll see. I you know, you don't sound hopeful, Lucasfilm.
- 5:46Speaker 2: They're just so terrified of the Star Wars fan and them,
- 5:49Speaker 2: I just say, just make a Star Wars.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Movie and you know, either they like it or they
- 5:54Speaker 1: don't exactly. And finally, this back to horror.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Robert Eggers, who did Faratu and he's doing were Wolf,
- 6:03Speaker 2: w U l F coming up and also the sequel
- 6:08Speaker 2: to Labyrinth.
- 6:11Speaker 1: He had this to say. He's glad to tell stories
- 6:14Speaker 1: in the past.
- 6:16Speaker 2: He says, the idea of having to photograph a car
- 6:19Speaker 2: makes me ill, and the idea of photographing a cell
- 6:23Speaker 2: phone is just death. To make a contemporary to make
- 6:27Speaker 2: a contemporary story, you have to photograph a cell phone.
- 6:30Speaker 2: It's just how life is. So no, I won't be
- 6:33Speaker 2: making any modern set films. Wow, that's how he consists
- 6:39Speaker 2: on living in the past.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So good Luck seems to be working all right.
