- 0:10OK, so welcome to the Slippery Slope podcast, and I'm Jay
- 0:14Fallon, obviously. So today want to have a look at
- 0:19what what I think is one of the biggest misinformation campaigns
- 0:23coming out of Canberra. Canberra, if you don't know, if
- 0:26you're not from Australia, that's the capital of Australia.
- 0:28That's where our you know, it's like the Washington of America,
- 0:33it's the capital. It's not necessarily that's not
- 0:36the biggest city, it's just rare politicians govern from.
- 0:40So I want to look at this misinformation campaign coming
- 0:43out of Canberra, the this fantasy that the federal
- 0:46government is helping in quotation marks, helping young
- 0:52Australians into their first home while simultaneously
- 0:56creating the very conditions that make home ownership
- 1:01impossible. Because So what we're seeing
- 1:05coming out of Canberra isn't, it's not just bad policy and
- 1:09it's not even, it's not even incompetence, it's deliberate
- 1:15misdirection. And I believe it's the
- 1:18deliberate destruction of the Australian economy because
- 1:23obviously I've spoken several times about the the great
- 1:26resets, my thoughts on the great resets.
- 1:29But if you want to have this reset of the global financial
- 1:34system, you have to destroy the one that's currently operating.
- 1:38So that's what I think, that's what I believe is currently at
- 1:41play here. This is what I think is is
- 1:43happening and I think the Australian government is a part
- 1:47of it. This is what they're doing.
- 1:48So we've got this, this first home buyer mirage.
- 1:52So I did a live a live episode today on, on YouTube and the
- 1:58last story, the last, the last part of the episode that I that
- 2:02I spoke on was to do with this article, an article coming out
- 2:05of the career male. The career male where what we
- 2:10learned was that one in five recipients of the government's
- 2:16first home buyer scheme, the 5% deposit guarantee.
- 2:22So one in five of those recipients are not Australian
- 2:26citizens. That equates to 51,000 permanent
- 2:32residents accessing a programme sold to the public as a lifeline
- 2:38for young Australians trying to get into the market.
- 2:41So that came out today in the career mail.
- 2:45So now the housing the housing minister rushed out to defend
- 2:49it. She said permanent residents
- 2:52aren't aren't the problem in quotation marks.
- 2:55And she accused critics of racing one nation as a one
- 2:59nation, the political party. So she's accused critics of
- 3:03racing one nation to the bottom. What she, what she's, what she's
- 3:10saying there, what she's trying to trying to accuse people of is
- 3:14racism. She's trying to, she's trying to
- 3:18say, well, if this is how you think, if you agree with One
- 3:21Nation and this is, this is the kind of rhetoric that you
- 3:23believe, you're obviously racist.
- 3:27You can't just be looking at the facts and stating facts.
- 3:30You must be racist. They always deflect people
- 3:34without an actual argument. People who can't defend
- 3:37themselves with facts always, always go to some other
- 3:42accusation. Well, then you must be racist.
- 3:44Well, then the problem is you, you're the one that's done that
- 3:46you're, it's your, you know, put in whatever phobia they accuse
- 3:51you of. This is you're the problem.
- 3:54You're you know, you've got this racist attitude.
- 3:57That's what's that's what the she's accusing us of.
- 3:59But the real issue, this government keeps telling
- 4:03Australians, telling us, me and you, they're helping you buy a
- 4:08home while quietly expanding the pool of people competing for the
- 4:13same limited supply. Go figure.
- 4:17But yet if you, if you notice this, if you say this, if you
- 4:21say anything about it, well, racist.
- 4:23So they want the headline, you know, we're helping first home
- 4:28buyers, but they don't want the truth.
- 4:32The truth is we're helping more people chase fewer houses.
- 4:37The headlines they want is that we're helping first home buyers.
- 4:40The truth is we're helping more people chase fewer houses.
- 4:45We've seen these broken promises of new housing over the last
- 4:48couple of years. Remember the promise?
- 4:51A couple of years ago they said 1.2 million new homes, a
- 4:54historic housing accord, a once in a generation building boom.
- 5:02This is what they promised us, the Albanese government.
- 5:05Except we already know they're falling catastrophically short.
- 5:10Not a little short, not you know, we'll catch up next year.
- 5:15Kind of short, mathematically impossible short.
- 5:19That's that's where we're going with this.
- 5:21So, and if you ask yourself why, well if you ask why, because
- 5:29Australians, Australia doesn't have the workers, we don't have
- 5:34the materials, we don't have the land release, we got the land,
- 5:39we don't have the land release, which is a government issue
- 5:43again. And we don't have the
- 5:44construction capacity. And the government knows this.
- 5:49They know it all too well. They've been told repeatedly by
- 5:53industry, by economists, by their own advisory bodies.
- 5:58But instead of instead of admitting the truth, they keep
- 6:03repeating the same line. We're on track, everything is
- 6:07fine. The plan is working, but it's
- 6:10not working. It was never going to work and
- 6:14they knew it. And so the issue we have now is
- 6:19the migration math. They they don't want you.
- 6:23They don't want you and I to do the migration math.
- 6:26And this is where the misinformation becomes
- 6:30undeniable. Australia already has a housing
- 6:35shortfall. You cannot deny that.
- 6:37We all know this. We have a housing shortfall.
- 6:39We cannot build fast enough to catch up with the shortfall.
- 6:44And yet the federal government continues to bring in record
- 6:48numbers of migrants while insisting migration has nothing
- 6:54to do with housing. Nothing to do with housing
- 6:59really. That's what they're saying is if
- 7:01if you have a shortage of homes, a shrinking construction
- 7:06workforce, a government missing its own building targets, and
- 7:11then you add hundreds of thousands of new arrivals every
- 7:15year, what do you think happens? This isn't ideology.
- 7:21This isn't racism, this isn't political spin.
- 7:25This is just basic math. You have more people plus fewer
- 7:31houses equals higher prices, higher rents and fewer
- 7:36opportunities for young Australians, the very ones who
- 7:41they keep telling us they're helping get into the housing
- 7:44market. But instead of acknowledging the
- 7:48obvious, the blatant obvious, the government tells you and I
- 7:54no, migration is not the issue. Trust us, Trust us.
- 8:00The same people who promised 1.2 million homes they can't build.
- 8:06The same people who say the market is fine while first home
- 8:10buyers face negative equity risks.
- 8:13The same people who say they're helping Australians while
- 8:18expanding the scheme to non citizens.
- 8:22They say it's all right, just trust us.
- 8:27And then you've got the real problem is you've got this
- 8:31narrative that they want, they want to sell us, they want to
- 8:34tell us. But then you've got reality.
- 8:37Narrative over reality. This is the pattern.
- 8:41When the numbers don't add up, they change the narrative.
- 8:46The government changes the narrative.
- 8:47And when the public gets frustrated, they blame
- 8:51misinformation. We change the narrative one
- 8:53point, then they blame misinformation.
- 8:56When the housing crisis worsens, they insist it's unexpected.
- 9:02When migration surges, they say it's not related, it's got
- 9:07nothing to do with it. So what?
- 9:11They just go and just live somewhere?
- 9:13Just go into the ether? It's got nothing to do with
- 9:15housing short shortfalls. It's not leadership, it's not
- 9:20transparency, It's storytelling or lying.
- 9:26And the story is always the same from the Australian government.
- 9:30Everything is fine. Don't look too closely.
- 9:35But Australians, we are looking closely.
- 9:40We're living the consequences. We're watching our kids give up
- 9:46on home ownership, We're watching rents explode.
- 9:52I I talk to people, friends, acquaintances all the time about
- 9:58the housing market and I'm seeing these people talk with
- 10:03great concern because of the cost of renting a home.
- 10:08It's just unbelievable. We're watching these rents
- 10:11explode. We're watching governments
- 10:13promise the impossible and then pretend they delivered it.
- 10:20It's just straight up storytelling or lying.
- 10:25The truth is simple. You cannot solve the housing
- 10:29crisis by importing more demand. That will never happen.
- 10:35You cannot build your way out of a shortage when you don't have
- 10:40the workforce. And you cannot keep telling
- 10:43Australians you and I. You cannot keep telling us
- 10:49everything is fine when every indicator says the opposite.
- 10:55This isn't it's, this isn't about left or right, Liberal,
- 10:59Labour, 1 nation, what anything like that.
- 11:02It's about honesty, asking the government what is truth.
- 11:09I always think of Pilot standing before Jesus saying what is
- 11:14truth? It's about honesty.
- 11:20It's about leadership and it's about a government that refuses
- 11:26to confront the reality it's created.
- 11:31And I believe it's it refuses to confront the reality it created
- 11:35because it wants to destroy our economy.
- 11:41It wants the Great Reset. Like I, like I said at the
- 11:46start, the only way to have the Great Reset to own nothing and
- 11:53you'd be happy is if you destroy the current, the current
- 11:59economic structure, it has to be destroyed and then you'll have
- 12:04the Great Reset. But we've got a government that
- 12:08refuses to confront the reality that it created and refuses to
- 12:15to tell us the truth. As always, this is just my
- 12:21opinion. I'm Jay Fallon and thanks for
