- 0:00Coming up... Oh my god, Ouija boards are egregores?
- 0:03Oh no... Ouija boards are egregores? Okay, do
- 0:08you guys know that game where someone says something,
- 0:11like a word, and then you guys just write off,
- 0:14like, top of head, what... Yes. Yeah, what word
- 0:18first comes to mind? You know what I'm talking
- 0:19about? Yeah. So I'm gonna go around, I'm gonna
- 0:22go, Angela Brie, Angela Brie. I'm gonna say a
- 0:24word, and then you say the first word that comes
- 0:25to mind. So who's first? Uh, Ange. Elephants.
- 0:30Elephants. Trunk. Bree. Ghost. Hunting. Angela.
- 0:37Basket. Cool hoop. Okay. Brianna. Oh shit, this
- 0:46is actually harder for me to think of a word
- 0:48to say to you guys. Keep going, it's fun. Brianna,
- 0:52your word is going to be avocado. Thanks. Thanks?
- 0:57Thanks. Thanks? Yes. Thanks. What does that mean?
- 1:01It's an avocado. Thanks. Angela, your word is
- 1:10going to be stop. Sign. Okay, Bree, your word
- 1:16is going to be Chipotle. Chicken? Incorrect.
- 1:24According to ChristianLife .com, the word that
- 1:28you should associate with Chipotle is demonic,
- 1:31evil, and satanic. So, that was how we were setting
- 1:42up this episode. Okay. I don't know if you've
- 1:45seen the headlines, but let me just read one
- 1:48headline to you. Demonic burritos? Evangelicals
- 1:51think Chipotle's Halloween commercial attacks
- 1:53Christianity. And they're not alone. If you go
- 1:57on any Chipotle post in the past, like, two weeks,
- 1:59the comments sound something like this. I screenshotted
- 2:03a bunch of them. This is witchcraft. I'm dumb
- 2:05with Chipotle. Bye, Chipotle. You're summoning
- 2:09spirits now. I stand with Jesus Christ. Demonic!
- 2:13You pushed us out. With your witchcraft and Ouija
- 2:16board. Hello, Kodoba. Get ready. Here we come.
- 2:19Nope, nope, nope. Never eating there again. No
- 2:22witchcraft. No Chipotle for my family. The only
- 2:25spirit I want to summon is the Holy Spirit of
- 2:28Jesus Christ. Amen. Done with this Chipotle place.
- 2:31Amen. They lost me. Deliberate witchcraft marketing.
- 2:34This is not cool. cries in small town michigan
- 2:39cries in small town michigan it's i'm sure it
- 2:43doesn't actually say that um no no it did that
- 2:46was one of the comments cries in small town michigan
- 2:49yeah so um but anyways this is all over an ad
- 2:54chipotle did like a quick advertisement for halloween
- 2:57it was like a spooky ad they did a number of
- 2:59them but the one in question is they use like
- 3:02a tortilla chip and you know like the chipotle
- 3:04like paper or whatever like the Yeah, they had
- 3:08like a pretend Ouija board and the tortilla chip
- 3:11like spout out like that. Margaritas are coming
- 3:13back or something like that. I don't think they
- 3:17sell margaritas. It doesn't make sense. No, no.
- 3:19I swear that's what it was about. Hold on. Maybe
- 3:23it was like a margarita style. Yes. Yeah. Not
- 3:27like actual margaritas. They are doing margaritas.
- 3:31Yeah. But like, you know how they have margarita
- 3:33pizzas? No, no, no. But it's margarita. Because,
- 3:39like, that style. It's not... I think it's literally
- 3:42a margarita. Yeah. It's a real margarita for
- 3:46Halloween to bring them back. But it's a fast
- 3:49food place. They can't have alcohol. Well, somehow
- 3:52they can. Because, like, the whole point of the
- 3:54ad was, like, summoning spirits. Like, we're
- 3:56bringing the spirits back, you know? So they
- 3:58had, like, a little tortilla. I knew I wasn't
- 4:01crazy here. Food! It's inconceivable to us. Because,
- 4:05like... since when do they have margaritas but
- 4:07that's legit they wanted to get a make a splash
- 4:09and announce margaritas they were summoning the
- 4:12spirits literally haha spirits by having a tortilla
- 4:15chip spell out margarita on a fake ouija board
- 4:18and like clearly fake and whatever but like ouija
- 4:22boards are real well i wanted to talk about ouija
- 4:28boards in a way that wasn't talking about ouija
- 4:30boards because we haven't talked about ouija
- 4:32boards yet on the main pod and i don't really
- 4:34want to go down the whole like Are they real?
- 4:36Are they evil? So I was trying to think of a
- 4:40way to talk about them without talking about
- 4:41them. And then Chipotle makes this ad. Perfect!
- 4:46It's almost like the universe spoke to us. I
- 4:50know. Kind of like Ouija boards. That was so
- 4:57cute. For the two people that watch the YouTube,
- 5:00they know that she just kissed a dog. Everyone
- 5:02else is just like, why is Brianna kissing? Like
- 5:06a Ouija board. Yes. So would you ever kiss a
- 5:12Ouija board, Bri? No, I would not kiss a Ouija
- 5:14board. I knew you would want to put that on record.
- 5:19It's just mind -boggling to me, the response.
- 5:21I don't know. It's just kind of like the mindset
- 5:25and kind of like the framework I wanted to use
- 5:29to talk about Ouija boards before this ad. And
- 5:32this is kind of just solidifying that. is why
- 5:35are Ouija boards different? Or how, as well,
- 5:39I guess. Are they different than other ghost
- 5:41hunting tools? Because you hear talk like this
- 5:43all the time. For some reason, Ouija boards are
- 5:46like the token for all things evil and satanic
- 5:49and demonic and occult. Yeah. Why isn't an EMF
- 5:53meter? Or why aren't dowsing rods? Why isn't
- 5:56the spirit box? In what ways is the Ouija board
- 5:59different than these tools? Without getting into
- 6:01an argument or saying if... one is good one is
- 6:05bad or whatever but like it's just do you equate
- 6:09them any differently like ouija boards and other
- 6:11ghost hunting tools i think that's a really really
- 6:15good question and it's also a really hard one
- 6:19welcome to our podcast where we take deep dives
- 6:22looking at various topics through a paranormal
- 6:24lens we've had the stigma for so long that Ouija
- 6:31boards are bad and you should not use Ouija boards
- 6:34and you're going to open portals and summon things
- 6:38that you don't intend and you won't be able to
- 6:40control it. But really, how different from other
- 6:44paranormal equipment are they? Because it is
- 6:48still like you were comparing it to an EMF or
- 6:54dowsing rods. It is still a piece of equipment.
- 6:58that is used to communicate. And no matter what,
- 7:03you are still opening yourself up or accepting
- 7:06that, oh, I'm using this tool to try to communicate
- 7:10with something. You're just as easily and likely
- 7:14to summon something or open said portal with
- 7:20any piece of equipment because it's all an intent,
- 7:24right? We talk a lot about intent with stuff
- 7:26here. And so how is a Ouija board different from
- 7:31really any other piece? That is the big question.
- 7:34I agree. And my whole thing with Ouija boards,
- 7:37like as a response to the people that do have
- 7:40extreme reactions to them. And I think it's important
- 7:42just to note real quick, like, I feel like every
- 7:44generation has like that one. big scare around
- 7:50ouija boards like you had the exorcist book and
- 7:52then movie and then you had to panic you know
- 7:54every decade there seems to be like one thing
- 7:56that comes up um that just solidifies it um if
- 8:01in the exorcist movie they had emf meters i i
- 8:05think it would have been uh emf meters or evil
- 8:09i mean and also the spiritualist movement and
- 8:11all that stuff too um plays into it but i always
- 8:14look at Ouija boards and their reactions to them
- 8:17as, okay, so using this tool to communicate with
- 8:23the dead, do you think communicating with the
- 8:25dead is bad? If so, your point about Ouija boards
- 8:28is valid if you think that way about all tools.
- 8:30But if you're just singling out Ouija boards
- 8:32as being really bad and evil and demonic and
- 8:36somehow vastly different in terms of its summoning
- 8:39abilities and it being a portal, but something
- 8:42like the Estus method is okay. How many times
- 8:45have we done this method and we seem to like
- 8:49channel something like it puts you in a meditative
- 8:51state. Like why? Just in my head, I'm just a
- 8:55little confused by the whole like, if you think
- 8:58Ouija boards are dangerous and you should fear
- 9:01them, fear that as well. And you're consistent.
- 9:04Consistency is good. I like the consistent thinking.
- 9:06I can get behind that. Cool. I think it's just
- 9:09that it's just a lot of superstition that goes
- 9:12on. long as Ouija boards. It's been around for
- 9:16a while. And longer than the other ghost hunting
- 9:20tools, not counting the dowsing rods, but for
- 9:23a very long time. And so I just think it has
- 9:26that added on fear to it. But it doesn't explain
- 9:30why people aren't afraid of the other ghost hunting
- 9:35tools and not. I don't know. Maybe it's just
- 9:39the lack of knowledge when it comes to ghost
- 9:41hunting and the paranormal and stuff like that.
- 9:45Something that just came across my brain is when
- 9:53you're ghost hunting, Ouija boards aren't always
- 9:58the first thing that we leap to. We have the
- 10:00spirit box. We have EMF. We have dusting rods.
- 10:03We have many other different pieces of equipment.
- 10:06And we'll have... interactions or like things
- 10:11with potential spirits and have experiences that
- 10:15to us it's like okay we are trying to do like
- 10:18the paranormal and get these sorts of responses
- 10:21the ouija board it came out originally as a game
- 10:26and people got this game to play and then it
- 10:30turned into like oh we're gonna do a party game
- 10:33oh it's a girl's night let's get all spooky so
- 10:36they're people who are using ouija boards aren't
- 10:40always people who are in the paranormal field
- 10:44so things that are happening to them if they
- 10:47are having things happen they may seem absolutely
- 10:51crazy or terrifying to them but right to a paranormal
- 10:56investigator it may be just the run -of -the
- 11:00-mill interaction so they could be like oh my
- 11:04god i felt like i was touched and like something
- 11:06grabbed me and right we could be at a different
- 11:10location and like we're using spirit box and
- 11:12have the same thing happen but because they aren't
- 11:15paranormal investigators and they're using a
- 11:18ouija board that already has this bad stigma
- 11:21behind it it just amplifies, oh, Ouija boards
- 11:24are bad. Ouija boards are bad. I had this crazy
- 11:27experience with a Ouija board. So to clarify
- 11:31at this point, if you're at a girls' night and
- 11:35you have no experience ghost hunting, and suddenly
- 11:38in the dungeon of your jail that you're doing
- 11:42girls' night at, something flicks your boob,
- 11:44you'd blame a Ouija board. But if you're using
- 11:47a spirit box during a TikTok live, and the same
- 11:52thing happens, you wouldn't blame the spirit
- 11:55box. Yeah. I mean, you're not, exactly. That
- 12:04came up. For anyone wondering, check out our
- 12:08investigation of the Canberra County Old Stone
- 12:11Jail. It's on YouTube right now. It's 25 minutes
- 12:13long. I'm going to post a link to it that actually
- 12:15happened. It's not a spoiler. Brianna's boob
- 12:19got flicked. It was an interesting night. Interesting
- 12:24video. That's only like five seconds out of the
- 12:26whole thing. Yeah. But I had to put it in because
- 12:29then Angela goes, which was the highlight of
- 12:33the whole video. But Angela going, is everyone
- 12:38that's like five years old using a Ouija board,
- 12:41probably doing Bloody Mary in the mirror. They
- 12:44don't. I mean, Ouija boards are easily accessible.
- 12:46You can find them anywhere at any toy store.
- 12:48Five Below sells them now. You can't buy an EMF
- 12:51meter. And also, one of you alluded to this,
- 12:55maybe Angela. There's ghost hunting tools. Like,
- 12:57we know what a REM pod is. No one knows what
- 12:59a REM pod is. People may know, like, EMF from,
- 13:02like, Supernatural or something. But unless you
- 13:05watch Sam and Kobe, hashtag Sam and Kobe, you're
- 13:07not going to know any. ghost hunting tools or
- 13:10what they are how many times do we do a public
- 13:12ghost hunt or whatever or uh have our you know
- 13:15equipment laid out on a table and people are
- 13:17like what's that what's that then they see a
- 13:19ouija board like oh hell no everyone knows what
- 13:21a ouija block that no yeah not a ouija board
- 13:24yeah so maybe it's like they're not intentionally
- 13:27calling out ouija boards they just don't know
- 13:30that there's other stuff Because we're so involved.
- 13:33But also, there isn't that stigma behind other
- 13:36stuff. Because, like, I've always thought, like...
- 13:41taking this back a little bit to to the other
- 13:43pieces of equipment and the stigma behind it
- 13:46and what it does like some people believe like
- 13:48i said ouija boards are opening portals because
- 13:51you're trying to like communicate with something
- 13:54and i've always thought of spirit boxes as like
- 13:58a modern ouija board almost because it you're
- 14:02creating white noise Which in itself has energy,
- 14:07just like a Ouija board might. So you have just
- 14:10as much potential of opening a portal with a
- 14:14spirit box as you do with a Ouija board. And
- 14:18to be honest, I feel like, personally speaking,
- 14:22we've had a lot more scary experiences using
- 14:26spirit boxes compared to a Ouija board. But you
- 14:31guys also use spirit box a lot more than Ouija
- 14:33boards. Yeah, but you can't have a mimic come
- 14:37through a Ouija board. How many times have we
- 14:41heard our own voices or other people we know's
- 14:44voices come through the spirit box? That doesn't
- 14:46happen on a Ouija board. If anything, I feel
- 14:49like people should have... Spirit boxes should
- 14:55be feared more than Ouija boards. If people knew
- 14:58what they were, those would be feared way more,
- 15:02I feel like. Because it doesn't have that stigma
- 15:06of people who don't, like, like I said, the people
- 15:09who are using these, these tools like Ouija boards,
- 15:13their first go to for these sort of like, I'm
- 15:17going to have a spooky night is to get a Ouija
- 15:20board, not a spirit box. I mean, nowadays, they
- 15:22do have like apps like ghost tube that people
- 15:25get. But like, yeah. because it's linked on your
- 15:29phone like i feel like there isn't that stigma
- 15:31behind it nobody thinks if their phone is bad
- 15:34yeah i mean there are some people who think of
- 15:36their phone as bad but i was gonna say about
- 15:39the spirit box too well firstly i want to say
- 15:42i do agree with you brie i've even said multiple
- 15:44times like about when we were in Gettysburg or
- 15:47in New Orleans, I feel like there's been a couple
- 15:49times where the spirit box literally sounds like
- 15:53it's a portal because you turn it on and it's
- 15:55just static. And suddenly there's a million voices,
- 15:57you know, a woman saying, hi, then a guy saying,
- 15:59hi, then, you know, a bunch of other random voice.
- 16:02It sounds like a portal is open and all these
- 16:04voices coming through. So yes, I do think of
- 16:07all equipment or tools that are most. like a
- 16:11quote portal or what you would think one is spirit
- 16:14box also the rebuttal i feel like to all these
- 16:17people who would you know let's say you say uh
- 16:20let me bring a spirit box to our girls and they'd
- 16:22say that's just a radio a lot of people say that's
- 16:24just a radio it is just a broken radio like that's
- 16:27the whole point of a spirit box so the ouija
- 16:30board was its own thing and is its own thing
- 16:33it's you you can turn any radio into Maybe that's
- 16:39why this ad struck such a nerve the Chipotle
- 16:42ad because you were turning the Ouija board is
- 16:45supposed to be its own thing It's not Like, you
- 16:48pick up any phone, any radio, and turn it into
- 16:51a spirit box. This is a Ouija board. It is made
- 16:54to be a Ouija board. It has a unique look, a
- 16:57unique feel. Now you're turning my tortilla chips
- 17:00and telling me my tortilla chips can summon ghosts
- 17:02now, you know? It's turning something that's
- 17:06not supposed to be a ghost hunting tool into
- 17:08a ghost hunting tool. Like, you know what I mean?
- 17:10I get what you mean. It's its own thing. So a
- 17:15lot of people say two. And this is a, so we kind
- 17:19of don't agree, I think, on, even though it's
- 17:22interesting, we all have differing opinions on
- 17:24Ouija boards and if we would use them or not.
- 17:26Spoiler alert, some of us here would use one,
- 17:30have used one, refuse to use one. We don't need
- 17:33to go into that whole debate again. But another
- 17:35rebuttal is that because you use it with your
- 17:39hands and you're essentially moving it and you
- 17:43are the medium. Like, you know what I mean? Like,
- 17:46through your hands, the spirits are speaking.
- 17:48I never understood that. Because that's the same
- 17:53thing you do with, like, dowsing rods. Yeah.
- 17:56Yeah. And also, the Estus method is literally,
- 18:01like I said, priming you. Like, you're essentially
- 18:04channeling the spirit. And you're meditating.
- 18:06And it's odd to me that, like, using your hands
- 18:10on a Ouija board is... Like, that in and of itself
- 18:12makes it worse. Do you guys... Have thoughts
- 18:16on that aspect? I have no issue with using my
- 18:21body to channel spirits. What? You phrased that
- 18:26so weirdly. I have no issue if any November fans
- 18:33use my body to channel spirits. No, I don't want
- 18:40no November fans using my body to channel spirits,
- 18:44man. Oh, God. Yeah, I don't know how... What
- 18:52was the question again? So the topic was, basically,
- 18:57you being the human vessel, so to speak, so,
- 19:00like, physically, you're the one moving it. The
- 19:03spirits, allegedly, are speaking through you,
- 19:04quote -unquote. So, does that make it somehow
- 19:08worse than you using your hands to move dowsing
- 19:12rods? Like, shouldn't dowsing rods be bad? Yeah,
- 19:19I mean, I guess if you think of it that way,
- 19:21I haven't really thought of it that way, but
- 19:23I mean. Like, is, do you, in your head, do you,
- 19:26is that the part of it that concerns you about
- 19:29Ouija boards, or? That's not the part of it that
- 19:31can, I don't, I can't say what, it's, it's, it's
- 19:35still the stigma that, behind Ouija boards that
- 19:38gets me with Ouija boards. I don't know, I don't
- 19:41have an explanation for it. But I was gonna say,
- 19:43that's. The decades of stigma and stereotyping.
- 19:48The decades of fear and stereotyping. And, you
- 19:52know, scapegoating, you know, during the satanic
- 19:54panic. But I do think of all the concerns about
- 19:58Ouija boards, that's the only valid one, to be
- 20:03honest. If your hesitation is, for decades people
- 20:06have feared this thing, so I don't want to touch
- 20:09it. That sounds a lot like someone that might
- 20:11believe in egregores. You know what I mean? Oh
- 20:15my god, Ouija boards are egregores? Oh no. Ouija
- 20:19boards are egregores? If you believe in egregores,
- 20:23you should be hesitant of using the one ghost
- 20:27hunting tool that decades of people have feared
- 20:30and placed fear upon. Why can't - Why - Ooh.
- 20:35Ooh. I really - We should bring - I would love
- 20:42to have a debate with someone about this. This
- 20:45would be fun. Like, bring one of the evangelicals
- 20:48on? I don't know, something like that. They don't
- 20:52know about egregores. What if they do, though?
- 20:56So, this person is crying in a small town in
- 21:00Michigan. Should I message them? No. Because
- 21:07then what if they find us? Which small town?
- 21:11Which small town? There is one out of hundreds
- 21:15that it could potentially be my small town. Let's
- 21:22see. Yeah, we don't want that. Because here's
- 21:25this thing, Ben. If they're commenting on whatever
- 21:30platform this is about this whole Chipotle ad,
- 21:33and then you message them asking us... asking
- 21:37them to come on the podcast about this, they're
- 21:39going to probably make a post in a bunch of different
- 21:42forums complaining about how we're demonic. I
- 21:47don't want to deal with that. According to their
- 21:50Facebook, they're from Kalamazoo. That's not
- 21:52a small town. No, that's not small at all. Unless
- 21:56they just marked Kalamazoo, but they're really
- 21:58from a surrounding town. Yeah, you never know.
- 22:03Anyways, I don't think we know them. I can message
- 22:06them. They probably don't want to be on anyways
- 22:07because you're just... No. No, don't. Because
- 22:10now they're going to be offended we said they're
- 22:11from Kalamazoo. As if they listened to the episode.
- 22:16I doubt they did by now. Back to Ouija boards.
- 22:21The whole egregorical talk. That was a word we
- 22:24made up a few episodes ago. Yeah. Egregorical.
- 22:28Egregorical. Kind of makes sense. And also, it...
- 22:35kind of as i'm saying it now equates back to
- 22:40our conversations about uh what we were talking
- 22:44about where okay yes it was god what i'm about
- 22:52to say here i thought it was like our conversation
- 22:54about like the hat man or something serious no
- 22:58this was during our spongebob episode this came
- 23:00up oh we were talking about how spongebob could
- 23:04be an egregore to some people But that doesn't
- 23:07mean everyone's perception of Spongebob. Like,
- 23:11everyone's Spongebob isn't necessarily an evil
- 23:14demon, just because for one person, their egregore
- 23:17is an evil demon Spongebob. You know what I'm
- 23:21talking about? Like, just because one person
- 23:23has an egregore doesn't mean everyone. Does that
- 23:29still apply to Ouija boards? If one person had
- 23:31a bad experience with Ouija boards and placed
- 23:35fear in it, does... That mean if Brianna picks
- 23:38it up, she'd encounter the Egregore version of
- 23:41it? So, that's the thing, too, though, with these
- 23:45hypothetical Egregore situations, is that - This
- 23:48is more real than the Spongebob one, though.
- 23:51Yeah. The stigma behind - Can you explain, like,
- 23:57how Spongebob compares to Ouija boards in, like,
- 23:59simple terms in terms of stigma and Egregores?
- 24:01So, Spongebob, shut the fuck up. is happy, fun
- 24:04children's TV show that some people have nightmares
- 24:08about occasionally. Ouija boards are something
- 24:13that has had a bad stigma and is always attributed
- 24:17to terrible interactions or potential demonic
- 24:21possessions. So there is more likely a chance
- 24:25that people who have the Ouija board egregore
- 24:27experience, it is... going to be a negative experience
- 24:32or a negative egregore compared to spongebob
- 24:36who is like i said a happy children's tv show
- 24:41character okay no offense but we need to take
- 24:44this back to 1920. so you yourself said that
- 24:49ouija boards were girls night game night so do
- 24:54we just give it another 100 years where uh spongebob
- 24:58which is girls night game night is now something
- 25:00that everyone fears and is horrific. Because
- 25:03Ouija boards weren't always horrible. Think back
- 25:08to when it first became an egregore. It had to
- 25:10take one person, and then another person, and
- 25:13then another person, and then another person,
- 25:14and then another person. Now, a hundred years
- 25:16later, you're at this point where Spongebob is
- 25:20cool, Ouija boards are cruel. Why are we talking
- 25:29about Spongebob again? Why is... Can we... can
- 25:33we let go of spongebob no but do you do you understand
- 25:35my point here yeah i do but i still think it's
- 25:38stupid it's actually not in the point we're making
- 25:42here of yeah it is stupid that this came out
- 25:45of a conversation about spongebob but now it's
- 25:47turning real in terms of if one person had a
- 25:50bad experience with a ouija board and that created
- 25:53an egregore for them at what point does it become
- 25:57everyone's egregore like is it still individualistic
- 26:02And it just so happens, like, and it's just a
- 26:04matter of if you, because everyone else around
- 26:07you fears it, you fear it as much as them, then
- 26:10you have the potential to create an Egregore
- 26:12for yourself, or are you experiencing someone
- 26:14else's Egregore? Like, if your mom says, I had
- 26:17a terrible experience with Ouija boards, and
- 26:19just tells you as a kid that they're terrible,
- 26:21are you experiencing, if you were to pick up
- 26:24a Ouija board and encounter an Egregore type
- 26:26of haunting, you know, something that's not...
- 26:29You know, it's more of a thought form based on
- 26:31the fear. Are you encountering her, Egregore?
- 26:34Or did you create one for yourself? Ben, that
- 26:48was a lot. Again, again, separate it from Spongebob.
- 26:56It just so happened to come out of her. What?
- 27:02There isn't an answer. But that's where my...
- 27:06We're evolving. This podcast should be called
- 27:09Egregorical Lens because we - It really should
- 27:12be. It's brought up every single episode. We've
- 27:16evolved how we think about egregores. Yeah, but
- 27:19I feel like I also have never actually, like,
- 27:23googled, what is an egregore? And - it's to actually
- 27:29understand and know like i'm just going off of
- 27:32our experience and like what we've talked about
- 27:34and well that's what we are i don't know if that's
- 27:37how like egregores work or how they're viewed
- 27:41or like what what really is an egregore i actually
- 27:45have no freaking idea i'm just like some guy
- 27:50on the internet says i know everything about
- 27:52egregores Like, I'd have a lot of questions.
- 27:55I wouldn't try. No one knows. No one has. I feel
- 27:58like we talk so much about egregores within this
- 28:05podcast and with each other. Do we? I feel like
- 28:09we also need to, like, understand what other
- 28:13people think of egregores. We should get someone
- 28:15on here. Yeah, let's let's let's get someone
- 28:19on. Let's let's have an egregore. dedicated egregore
- 28:23episode soon yes um now they're still going to
- 28:28come up in conversation oh 100 because we're
- 28:31going to not talk about egregores i don't know
- 28:33but honestly ironically for a concept that's
- 28:38so you know uh that that's all about thought
- 28:43forms and thought creations Our own thoughts
- 28:46and theories on them, independently from others'
- 28:49experiences and their own research, is creating
- 28:52canon and our own definition within this podcast.
- 28:55And as it evolves, we are in a way creating our
- 28:58own egregore of the concept of egregores. Yeah.
- 29:02Yeah. So I don't think there is a right or wrong
- 29:05interpretation, but it would be really cool to
- 29:08compare notes, if anything. It's just like at
- 29:12the beginning of this podcast. we ask the question
- 29:17of what do we define as a ghost? And it's an
- 29:22ever -changing and ever -evolving definition.
- 29:26We don't have a specific good definition for
- 29:31egregores because it's continually evolving for
- 29:35us, and it may be different from what another
- 29:38person views as an egregore. This is why I think...
- 29:43No matter how much you might hate someone else's
- 29:45opinion, it's still good to hear their opinion.
- 29:48I don't hate anyone's opinions, yeah. Well, some
- 29:53people don't have good opinions. I mean, true.
- 29:57But that's why you still need to listen to them.
- 29:59I don't hate that they have an opinion. You can
- 30:00better your own knowledge and your own opinion.
- 30:04But back to Ouija boards, because somehow on
- 30:08this episode about Ouija boards, we've talked
- 30:10more about Chipotle and SpongeBob. You guys did
- 30:16that thing. No one wants to hear this nonsense,
- 30:22okay? Keep going, keep going, keep going. That's
- 30:26all I had on Ouija boards, guys. Because you
- 30:31said, back to Ouija boards, and then listed off
- 30:33all the things that we had talked about besides
- 30:35Ouija boards, and then it was like, okay, are
- 30:38we still talking about Ouija boards? I hope someone
- 30:41had something to say about Ouija boards. I don't,
- 30:43I don't. No, I think we said everything. Yeah.
- 30:47So, okay. I mean, there's a lot of things to
- 30:49say about Ouija boards, but, you know, I don't
- 30:52know. That's the boring stuff. We're talking
- 30:54about the fun stuff and the good stuff. The fun
- 30:57stuff. last question do we think the symbol of
- 31:02a ouija board because this is coming up a lot
- 31:04in the comments the symbol of a ouija board you
- 31:07know planchette or the you know the letters all
- 31:09around okay yeah yeah is that image or images
- 31:13a symbol that means you are like in league with
- 31:23satan or anti -christianity like is the ouija
- 31:26board symbol itself a satanic symbol that is
- 31:31anti -christianity is it anti -religion um okay
- 31:38because that's coming up a lot i didn't even
- 31:40know that was an extreme viewpoint until the
- 31:43last couple of weeks and i think the ouija board
- 31:48is essentially like a poster child of all things
- 31:52i mean the cult isn't anti -religion either or
- 31:55anti -christianity but you know what i mean like
- 31:57all the evangelical people use the ouija board
- 32:01as like a visual representation of all things
- 32:05anti -church and stuff which is odd to me i never
- 32:09knew that i'm not i'm not saying i'm not trying
- 32:13to generalize i'm just looking at these comments
- 32:15that are coming in and i get these are extreme
- 32:17people but yeah it's just odd to me the chipotle
- 32:22used a tortilla chip to spell out like margarita
- 32:26on a pretend ouija board and it's creating such
- 32:29an uproar that news stations are covering like
- 32:32the backlash like do you think we're entering
- 32:37a new stage of satanic panic or something it's
- 32:40like i feel like we are on the verge of like
- 32:44we i feel like we definitely are on the verge
- 32:47of another like oh yeah i feel like we're already
- 32:50like in the midst of it somehow a little bit
- 32:53yeah a little bit stages of it I feel like there's
- 32:57gonna be people burned at the stake for being
- 32:59witches again. I hope not. Well, you're safe.
- 33:04Or metaphorically burned at the stake. Metaphorically,
- 33:08yeah. Probably. I was gonna say, like, shit,
- 33:13I'm dead then. Like, I'm not no hardcore witch,
- 33:16but... Close enough. Close enough, yeah. You're
- 33:21the most hardcore I know. Keep a fire extinguisher
- 33:25on hand, Ben. We just had our checks in our apartment,
- 33:27so I know it works. It works. Good, good. Thanks
