0:42
[SPEAKER_06]: I, in the rest of us, will be officially driving back next Friday, and then we will be on air in Wilmington, I believe that is Monday, is that May 18th, Bob, is that we're looking out here?
0:54
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
0:55
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
0:55
[SPEAKER_06]: And then we'll all be together again in the same place, in the same facility, but we kind of had to move in sections here, so apologies, but you know, the rules, show goes on kids, no matter rain, shine, aids, or whatever, and yeah, it was a period of time,
1:12
[SPEAKER_06]: I was I was out.
1:14
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, the good old days when I was in a coma for five and days I wouldn't call them gold.
1:18
[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe my wife would but we'll see.
1:20
[SPEAKER_06]: That's another show for another day Right now welcome back to the show Gerard Michaels put that mic about an instrument face What's up everybody?
1:29
[SPEAKER_04]: How are you doing?
1:29
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what's going on there.
1:30
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, why went on why I don't
1:32
[SPEAKER_04]: You had it, do you see this?
1:34
[SPEAKER_04]: So the natural way I went to creating it now?
1:37
[SPEAKER_04]: That's a black man's car.
1:38
[SPEAKER_04]: Don't write it.
1:39
[SPEAKER_04]: And I get it.
1:40
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, those 8% start hitting hard.
1:42
[SPEAKER_06]: I know it.
1:44
[SPEAKER_06]: And you brought your friend Donna Lee.
1:46
[SPEAKER_06]: Hello?
1:47
[SPEAKER_06]: Who you might know from, thank you.
1:49
[SPEAKER_06]: Look at that.
1:50
[SPEAKER_06]: Listen to that intro.
1:52
[SPEAKER_06]: That's the applause.
1:53
[SPEAKER_06]: From Kill Tony, yep, now that's how I know you and I'm going to give you guys a bit of a backstory here Here's what I want to have you both on six and I'm going to turn town to and stand up and and all the fun stuff there But everybody who comes who has come over the last six years When the mothership was built, comedy mothership and all that other stuff We'll usually fly in and make a weekend of it So they'll come in on Thursday.
2:16
[SPEAKER_06]: We want to see fake news and then they'll end up going to the comedy store The ones who come in on a Monday
2:22
[SPEAKER_06]: always say the same thing hey we're here to see you guys and we love you but we're also going to kill Tony tonight's right's if they got tickets if they were lucky enough it sells out months and months and advance and we've got one of our favorite listeners Matt Devlin you actually took a picture with them the other nice and mad yeah on the streets and uh eat pops in and out has been a friend of the show for years and we love them his lifelong dream was to be a stand up and he you know he's got he's got some issues
2:51
[SPEAKER_06]: He'll tell you about it and he's told us about it on air and he goes he's fuck it I'm just gonna do it.
2:57
[SPEAKER_06]: It's my dream and this is all I want to do and in particular part of that dream is doing killtowning Now we've had Bob how many people over the years who've wanted to do killtowning or been on killtowning?
3:07
[SPEAKER_10]: Jason's granny was on there, and she's been on there, Matt's trying to get on there.
3:13
[SPEAKER_10]: Adam Ray, what's his name, fucking, from two broke girls.
3:18
[SPEAKER_06]: John and Kai, John and Kai, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, so these are all our homies.
3:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, your boy Uncle Laser.
3:23
[SPEAKER_06]: Uncle Laser's been on there a million times, right?
3:25
[SPEAKER_06]: But they're friends in real life, so that's a different story.
3:29
[SPEAKER_06]: Donna, for you, you had an interesting story when you went, but let's start with the process first.
3:36
[SPEAKER_06]: How do they do it?
3:37
[SPEAKER_06]: Is it real?
3:38
[SPEAKER_06]: Are they booking advanced?
3:39
[SPEAKER_06]: Do you wait?
3:39
[SPEAKER_01]: What's this situation?
3:41
[SPEAKER_01]: It is an actual lottery system.
3:42
[SPEAKER_06]: So that is real.
3:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you show up to Shakespeare with 300 other comedians.
3:46
[SPEAKER_01]: And the air conditioner doesn't work very well.
3:48
[SPEAKER_04]: You thrown away that you thrown at term comedian around very loose.
3:51
[SPEAKER_04]: Really?
3:52
[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, yeah, you're a real comedian.
3:54
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yeah, yeah.
3:55
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
3:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Lots of comedians and a lot of hopeful.
3:57
[SPEAKER_04]: It's an open, as a former actor, you'll know, it's an open casting call.
4:01
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's just open casting.
4:03
[SPEAKER_06]: Or I guess I was like, when I was going to stand up, it was like, open mic night, right?
4:07
[SPEAKER_06]: And some nights to get on, some nights you don't.
4:10
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
4:11
[SPEAKER_06]: You know, when you're very, very first starting out, and you have no idea, or you're like, okay, cool, man, and then you tell your friends, and you're like, shit, I didn't get on.
4:18
[SPEAKER_06]: Now, we've a lot of people come back and say, dude, I didn't get on.
4:21
[SPEAKER_06]: So you're saying it's 300,
4:23
[SPEAKER_04]: hopeful comedians in a room well i i don't want to sound like you know and a leadist prick here when i say it's like i'm throwing around that term comedian like these are people that just want to be famous a lot of there there are comedians don't get me wrong and there are people that want like this is this is their break but you know american idol style there's a lot there's a lot of people that are like William hung to we're like
4:42
[SPEAKER_04]: you know, they'll show up.
4:44
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what it seemed like to me.
4:45
[SPEAKER_06]: They'll show up and that there was one guy who was dressed up like a Jedi and he had a lightsaber and the whole thing and you know, so I think does he let those people on the show because because of we shoot so many out of here, we do 120 shows a month out of here.
5:01
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't have time really to watch kill time.
5:03
[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of really great comics that have
5:05
[SPEAKER_04]: Really launched their career from campus.
5:08
[SPEAKER_04]: Like me Yeah, I'm yeah, Hans Kim already mad like it like it's like.
5:15
[SPEAKER_04]: It's old fans outside stuff.
5:16
[SPEAKER_04]: What what You know a Tony what Tony it does and a lot of you know, it's become very like You know the internet turns on people and they turn on like Nickelback and they are a Nickelback sucks even though every time you put on Nickelback song everybody knows every word
5:30
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he was fantastic with me.
5:41
[SPEAKER_01]: He was nothing but professional and kind and encouraging and engaging.
5:45
[SPEAKER_01]: He made fun of my boobs for a long time, but after we got over that.
5:47
[SPEAKER_01]: He was really cool and I was on twice and it just absolutely did wonders for my career now I'm national and national touring comedian.
5:54
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, because when Jard hit me up, I didn't even who you were and I was like oh, but I'd seen your clips because right now with podcast
6:02
[SPEAKER_06]: In particular obviously we got to promote the shows and here's on the show and everything else.
6:07
[SPEAKER_06]: I saw a clip of you going on Kill Tony and then you told this story about how you used to be a comedian and I think you won some national...
6:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I was a finalist on search for the funniest mom in America, but I also, and that was the same show that Leanne Morgan did.
6:22
[SPEAKER_01]: She did season one, I did season two and she didn't win season one and I didn't win season two, so I'm playing a big thanks for me.
6:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
6:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but that was a long time ago, and I took 12 years off, and then I got back into comedy May 2024, and then I had a goal to get on Killtony, and I manifested it one day, one night, and then I ended up on the show that day, and then I did it again.
6:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I went back another time and got on again to Killtony, and it's been amazing.
6:44
[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be a revenge.
6:45
[SPEAKER_01]: It gave me the secret show twice, so I advanced to the secret show invitation both times.
6:49
[SPEAKER_01]: okay and so what what happened the first time you were there were you part of that 300 of our herds yeah totally literally just pick you out of a fucking bucket they do it's random as it can be and i tried four times before i got chosen the first time i was on seven episode seven twenty two okay and then i went back for episode seven thirty eight and made it on that's that occasion you went four times so it was the fifth time it's the fifth time but i know
7:16
[SPEAKER_01]: It is.
7:17
[SPEAKER_04]: Is it really?
7:17
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
7:18
[SPEAKER_04]: You've got to sign up at five o'clock six o'clock and you're there.
7:21
[SPEAKER_04]: You've got to stay through the end of the show because it's a live poll.
7:24
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
7:24
[SPEAKER_06]: You can't leave.
7:25
[SPEAKER_06]: So I've had two friends.
7:27
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, two friends and listeners who have been on the one has actually been on the show.
7:32
[SPEAKER_06]: The other one's never made it.
7:33
[SPEAKER_06]: And he's done it.
7:35
[SPEAKER_06]: Jesus, man.
7:36
[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe ten times.
7:37
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
7:37
[SPEAKER_06]: He showed up ten times.
7:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I know people that go every single Monday and they've gone for years and they still haven't gotten pulled.
7:43
[SPEAKER_06]: uh... so our friend just in a build the wall governor uh... he went i think for like a year and a half for something like that and then he finally got on uh... and do they know he went every monday when every man he was driving in from san Antonio which is now it's a good hour fifteen
8:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, traffic over there over five or six.
8:03
[SPEAKER_01]: There were two guys last Monday when I went back.
8:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I hadn't gone in a long time.
8:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So I just went back to kind of feel the scene out.
8:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Two guys were called.
8:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Their names were pulled and they weren't there.
8:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Or they didn't hear their names.
8:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought, what a horrible feel.
8:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the entire room was like, oh, no.
8:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
8:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that happened.
8:21
[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought, if I was drinking or they'd go, you know, everything you're describing is prices right.
8:26
[SPEAKER_06]: That's very pricey.
8:27
[SPEAKER_06]: That's how it is, too, where it's like you wait up in line.
8:29
[SPEAKER_06]: And the price is right with Whippets.
8:32
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, exactly.
8:35
[SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
8:35
[SPEAKER_06]: But there was a girl that I was dating in LA.
8:38
[SPEAKER_06]: This was 20 something years ago.
8:40
[SPEAKER_06]: So it was a long before I met my wife and everything.
8:43
[SPEAKER_06]: But she didn't have any money at the time.
8:46
[SPEAKER_06]: And she was in grad school.
8:48
[SPEAKER_06]: And she goes, hey, do you think I get on like the price is right or something?
8:52
[SPEAKER_06]: And I go, look, I watch this kid.
8:55
[SPEAKER_06]: So I go, I think I know all the tricks.
8:57
[SPEAKER_06]: And she was like, what is it?
8:58
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, if you wear something with like a Midwestern logo on it, then it makes you feel like you're an all-american person.
9:05
[SPEAKER_06]: And I go, I think they'll choose you.
9:06
[SPEAKER_06]: And she goes, all right, what do you, what do you got?
9:09
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, it is a highest state sweatshirt.
9:11
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, you weren't a high-est state sweatshirt?
9:13
[SPEAKER_06]: It's red, it's bright red, and then it'll pop out, and it says you're from Ohio over the Midwest.
9:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
9:19
[SPEAKER_06]: And she got chosen.
9:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
9:21
[SPEAKER_06]: She goes down there, but it's the same thing.
9:22
[SPEAKER_06]: You have to wait in line for three fucking hours.
9:25
[SPEAKER_06]: Now, this case was in LA, so you're on the street.
9:27
[SPEAKER_06]: There is no bar restaurant for you to hang out in.
9:29
[SPEAKER_06]: We were literally just lined up around a gate, going around the back of this thing, and then you finally get in.
9:36
[SPEAKER_06]: I think they shoot like four or five shows a day and then they do this small interview with you Where they're like, hey, where are you from?
9:42
[SPEAKER_06]: Bubble, bubble, and it's older, so you're from Ohio You'll have a better shot telling because of the demographics and the test audience like that's
9:51
[SPEAKER_06]: People on television want to see where they're from to think that they might have that chance to get on to whatever their favorite show is.
9:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Right, they're relatable.
10:00
[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, and so she did it.
10:02
[SPEAKER_06]: Now she goes, and I didn't see the episode we broke up.
10:06
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, here's the fine that hang on.
10:08
[SPEAKER_06]: It does in air for six to eight months.
10:11
[SPEAKER_06]: You also don't get paid for six to eight months later So like by the time that it actually aired.
10:17
[SPEAKER_06]: No, we were no longer together, but she came home and she got on the show Second to the last thing which she was like, I didn't know if I was gonna get on and want to die net set
10:27
[SPEAKER_06]: It was like 2,800 bucks and then won something else and the next round and lost on the spin.
10:33
[SPEAKER_06]: You know how you try to get to a dollar or whatever and then as soon as you get off the show like hey, you're done.
10:39
[SPEAKER_06]: They pull you into a back room and it's tax forms.
10:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure.
10:42
[SPEAKER_06]: And so they hold of these tax forms and they say, hey, fill these out.
10:46
[SPEAKER_06]: Also, do you want the actual shit?
10:49
[SPEAKER_06]: She's like, what do you mean?
10:50
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, the Dynat set to when I get to keep the Dynat set?
10:52
[SPEAKER_06]: And they're like, no, no, no, you can have that.
10:54
[SPEAKER_06]: Or you can just have the cash value of that.
10:55
[SPEAKER_06]: And then we'll mail you your check.
10:57
[SPEAKER_06]: Huh, that's a deal with that.
10:59
[SPEAKER_06]: And because she needed money, she was like, well, I was gonna sell that shit anyways.
11:01
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I'll take the fucking check.
11:03
[SPEAKER_06]: So, they tally up what your shit is, you know, the vacuum cleaners and whatever else you've won and then they write you a check for it.
11:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Huh, didn't know that.
11:12
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and that's the same thing with Kill Tony, where everybody watches this show has the same questions.
11:20
[SPEAKER_06]: Is it live where, hey, Donnelly, come on down.
11:24
[SPEAKER_06]: It's, you immediately just get shot out on the stage.
11:27
[SPEAKER_01]: You do.
11:27
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's, it's pretty genious how they have it set up.
11:29
[SPEAKER_01]: So you're in the room with 300 comedians at Shakespeare's and whether if it's hot outside the air conditioner's not working, if it's cold outside the heaters not working.
11:35
[SPEAKER_01]: But you're watching the big screen of two weeks ago, the show that was on two weeks prior on YouTube.
11:41
[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
11:41
[SPEAKER_01]: and so it feels like you're in a live show because they'll pause the live TV from the two weeks ago show and they'll call a name and it feels like you're walking onto the show you're watching but you're actually walking onto the current show.
11:53
[SPEAKER_06]: Interesting.
11:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah and it's the most terrifying thing I've ever done in my whole life.
11:56
[SPEAKER_06]: That's what so the people that have gone on said the same thing.
11:59
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like an experience I can explain to you.
12:01
[SPEAKER_01]: It's I've been in front of 600 people sold out crowds at a comedy show.
12:05
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is much more terrifying.
12:06
[SPEAKER_06]: This is nerve-wracking.
12:07
[SPEAKER_06]: Why is that?
12:08
[SPEAKER_06]: Because you guys know these people and they're like heroes or what it means.
12:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the speaker's more the interview because you don't know how it's going to go.
12:15
[SPEAKER_01]: And I wasn't too worried about my minute, although I bomb the first time.
12:19
[SPEAKER_01]: But then they immediately, yeah, it was bad.
12:21
[SPEAKER_01]: But they immediately started making fun of my boobs and I was like, thank God.
12:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about my booths because I'll do that all the time.
12:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I had a tight shirt on.
12:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't really think that through.
12:29
[SPEAKER_01]: And then, um, because they, they get like, So maybe not, maybe.
12:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
12:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
12:34
[SPEAKER_01]: But then the interview went great.
12:36
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Red band said, Do you remember the first shift that got you on search for the funny story in America?
12:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And they let me do my Closer, my big Closer.
12:43
[SPEAKER_01]: and that killed and I did really well and then I got invited to do the secret show and then when I went back the second time it was just as terrifying with just his fun and I were really loose clothing the second time and I still did well.
12:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay so it wasn't just your test.
12:56
[SPEAKER_06]: No good.
12:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah it was me and then I'm clean middle-aged mom and not the typical demographics so I'm very proud of having gone through the process and doing well.
13:05
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, because after I saw your clip and I was falling on social media in your bio, it actually says clean comedian and that you're one of the very few people that I've seen that for like very proud of that why Because it's harder to do clean comedy.
13:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I can get corporate gigs.
13:19
[SPEAKER_01]: I can do comedy clubs and not, you know, offend anybody, but they know that I'm working hard and they know my sets are good
13:26
[SPEAKER_01]: but I promised my son when he was little when I did comedy the first time I promised him even though he was a little bit away.
13:31
[SPEAKER_01]: I thought I never want him to find something online that would embarrass him.
13:34
[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
13:35
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's now the most proud child he's 23 and he comes to my shows and we curse together off.
13:40
[SPEAKER_04]: No, you're you're clean but you're funny, right?
13:43
[SPEAKER_04]: Like so it's hard it's it's it's it's not hard to do clean comedy it's hard to do clean comedy that isn't corny.
13:50
[SPEAKER_04]: right like so you know like nobody wouldn't when you hear a really good clean comic it doesn't register to you that this is clean like you you don't watch Nate Bargaz here Brian Regan and be like oh this is good clean comedy you're like this is just funny dude yeah he's gonna say who are the top clean comics right now Nate Bargaz we in Morgan we in Morgan uh you know uh Brian Regan's been doing it forever Jim Gaffigan's been doing it forever oh you're right Jim Gaffigan yeah
14:16
[SPEAKER_04]: I remember being at the stand and, you know, as a house comic, you know, when famous people drop in, they do what's called bumping you.
14:24
[SPEAKER_04]: So you have like a 10 minute time slot and then you lose your time slot because somebody famous comes in.
14:29
[SPEAKER_04]: So have it a man.
14:30
[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, so gaffing comes in one night and he rips like a 30 minute, you know, he's getting ready for, you know, a new special and he's.
14:36
[SPEAKER_04]: Hot crowd and he's just ripping 30 minutes and you know guys are sitting at the bar like this guy doesn't get enough stage time There's mother then and then he's like oh, what's he gonna do go up there and be like hot pockets and I'm sitting there like Bro, did you sell out the guard like I can't do five minutes without talking about sex or cursing like that's just how I grew up This is who I am so it you know trying to be clean Feels in authentic to me and I and I don't land the joke well Sidebar and land out is helping me with that because he's like land out said Dave land up
15:06
[SPEAKER_04]: yeah when you get when you have a family clean comedy becomes much easier because the material is literally family oriented so that's just a sidebar on that but anyway these guys were ripping gaff again i'm sitting here like this dude sold out medicine square guard if he sucks i want to suck that bad like what are you even
15:26
[SPEAKER_04]: And then there did that.
15:27
[SPEAKER_04]: I was a whole different.
15:28
[SPEAKER_04]: That was the writing on the wall that communism was taking over.
15:31
[SPEAKER_04]: When I got into comedy, I thought it was not going to be like Carlin.
15:34
[SPEAKER_04]: And it was going to be like Stan Hope and Bill Hicks and like free speech, like individualist.
15:39
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's all just been disaffected theater kids, man.
15:43
[SPEAKER_06]: Like you know, it's yeah, I let's see.
15:47
[SPEAKER_06]: My last night, when I was talking about the sea of the night, um, my last night, because I just stand up for a long time.
15:52
[SPEAKER_06]: And I just, it was in a period of time where Stina was dead, it really was.
15:57
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, you were lucky if there was 30 people in the crowd, 40 people in the crowd.
16:00
[SPEAKER_06]: And it since changed, I always credit Dane Cook with changing that.
16:05
[SPEAKER_06]: At that time period was when I got out and Dane was starting to get hot a little bit and then there was lines.
16:13
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, where the fuck was this?
16:15
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I shot this movie and gone away for four months and then came back to LA.
16:19
[SPEAKER_06]: And I said, the line outside the comedy store and it was Dane Cook.
16:21
[SPEAKER_06]: And then he went on to do those stadium tours.
16:23
[SPEAKER_06]: He's the first one.
16:24
[SPEAKER_06]: I can remember Besides like a Steve Martin or something who was doing stadiums Steve Martin did like one or two nights, right?
16:31
[SPEAKER_06]: Right, Dean Cook was doing it every night in a circular thing so like the thing we see now What he had created 20 years ago he embraced my space and he embraced social media before anybody else anybody else And forget the fact that you know
16:46
[SPEAKER_06]: He's with like 14-year-of-girls at the time, but like, uh, whatever.
16:49
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, so I write that up, uh, I've already said that for another year.
16:53
[SPEAKER_01]: So whatever, yeah, exactly.
16:55
[SPEAKER_06]: Check that, check that wife there, right?
16:57
[SPEAKER_04]: Really?
16:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Check that wife's wife's wife's 30 years old.
16:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Check it.
17:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
17:01
[SPEAKER_04]: It really was the Elvis economy.
17:03
[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
17:04
[SPEAKER_10]: He married her when she was 24 they met when she was 18 but he does have like game nights or had game nights at his house But like kids Yeah, younger one Like like High school girls.
17:21
[SPEAKER_04]: It's alright.
17:21
[SPEAKER_04]: He's Muslim.
17:22
[SPEAKER_04]: It's just his religion.
17:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Is it?
17:24
[SPEAKER_04]: Is he Muslim?
17:24
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm kidding But with that being said like it wasn't an exciting time It's for comedy.
17:32
[SPEAKER_06]: So like
17:34
[SPEAKER_06]: It was in, uh, and we were just grad school in New York when I started meet like really famous comedians like Mark Marin and David Talon those guys and they were still doing it, but there was still 30, 40 people out there It was just a county was dead and they didn't know what was gonna happen with it because at that time sitcoms were at their fucking zenith, so people wanted to stay home and watch sitcoms because Every night of the week monday through Friday you were loaded dude including Friday night was TGI a Friday, right?
18:01
[SPEAKER_06]: He was like, yeah, man, I was just like, oh, I'm not going to
18:03
[SPEAKER_06]: anywhere, T.G.I.
18:04
[SPEAKER_06]: Friday, I was on it, and then sent me a life, sent me a life, and it's fucking hate-a.
18:08
[SPEAKER_06]: So it was like late 90s, early 2000s, and we were just like, shit, dude, I have no need to go out and watch the stand-up comedian, I'm watching the best comedy at home in my television, so I don't have any need to go out, and then there was this gap, and then Dan Cook filled it, and then he started to explode, and then everybody else.
18:23
[SPEAKER_06]: Sheppel and all those other guys, and yeah, my last, I'll put up with it as ways.
18:28
[SPEAKER_06]: a couple summers older than Gerard.
18:30
[SPEAKER_06]: But my last night of it where I just got fed up with the comedy store, and I got bumped by Andrew Dicequite, and he hadn't done comedy in like 10 years.
18:40
[SPEAKER_06]: He came in and just does like two and a half hours.
18:42
[SPEAKER_06]: So I didn't go on to like two, 15, 2, 3 in the morning, whatever it was.
18:46
[SPEAKER_06]: The same thing where you said 10 minutes said, whatever, and I'm like,
18:50
[SPEAKER_06]: Fuck this dude, and you know the audience had gotten up out to that and he's telling all jokes and I was just like I can't This is myth yeah, hey my x-wife, I need the coin out of a shit And I'm just sitting in the back.
19:02
[SPEAKER_06]: The room is going oh my god dude.
19:05
[SPEAKER_06]: This can't be my life
19:07
[SPEAKER_06]: Luckily, I've gotten a film and all the other shit in the film career took off, so I didn't have to worry about it.
19:11
[SPEAKER_06]: But when I came back, like I said, that's when the wine started forming around the thing, and it was a stained cook guy.
19:18
[SPEAKER_06]: Also, because there's a, you know, when you go out to Los Angeles, you see the huge billboards above these places of who's playing.
19:25
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
19:25
[SPEAKER_06]: And Daniel Tosh, Daniel Tosh was always on the board, right?
19:29
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, man, I thought, because I'd never met him.
19:31
[SPEAKER_06]: And there was no internet.
19:33
[SPEAKER_06]: So I thought it was Peter Tosh's brother.
19:37
[SPEAKER_06]: I thought that's got to be the Jamaican singer's brother.
19:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to touch.
19:42
[SPEAKER_06]: That's the only touch that I knew.
19:43
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm dead serious.
19:44
[SPEAKER_06]: And then one night, we went in and saw him and I was like, all right, shit.
19:47
[SPEAKER_06]: And then he didn't break out.
19:49
[SPEAKER_06]: And so he did that clip show on Comedy Central with the name of bump.
19:54
[SPEAKER_04]: Tash point no, he had an HBO special before that.
19:57
[SPEAKER_06]: That was phenomenal.
19:58
[SPEAKER_06]: But I didn't see it.
19:59
[SPEAKER_06]: So like everybody else was just talking about the comedy central thing So then I popped in on that and that's that's kind of where I first learned about him and now flash forward to where we're at now comedians are fucking rock stars and podcasts and everything and selling out these crazy arenas and all this shit That was not even a thought when I was coming up where I was just like the only I there was two before us
20:24
[SPEAKER_06]: Eddie Murphy, but he just did it for a special, Steve Martin, who had done it for a special on a stadium, but like, I didn't think that was possible.
20:30
[SPEAKER_06]: And I didn't know how you got more than 50 people to come to one of these guys.
20:34
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's an interesting thing.
20:35
[SPEAKER_04]: And Donna and I were talking about it in a way here, all art in general, but comedy and music, one of the big problems that we're having right now is kind of specific to what you're saying.
20:45
[SPEAKER_04]: And maybe this is cyclical, but the middle class is dying.
20:49
[SPEAKER_04]: And across America, the middle class is dying.
20:52
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, the people that are doing the arenas, they're crushing it and they're doing, you know, $350 tickets for Matt Ryf and he's selling out of arenas and got it.
20:59
[SPEAKER_06]: Price your dude.
21:00
[SPEAKER_06]: We couldn't get our listeners into a goddamn dinner after a live show.
21:04
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, I look over and I was like, it was Bert Krisher who had sold out this Tampa Bay Lightning Arena.
21:08
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
21:09
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, for the rest of us that are working comics, you know, where you used to be able to go into a comedy club and you always had to sell tickets done when you're wrong, but the comedy club would have a built-in audience as well.
21:20
[SPEAKER_04]: If you're doing a weekend at a funny bone somewhere, you sell a hundred tickets, the house sells a hundred tickets.
21:25
[SPEAKER_04]: You got a 200 seed audience.
21:27
[SPEAKER_04]: Now if you sell a hundred tickets, there's 105 people there.
21:29
[SPEAKER_04]: The houses aren't selling at all for your range of comedian or you talking about it.
21:38
[SPEAKER_04]: across the board ticket sales are down for almost every, you said 30% by the board that I understand it and here's why.
21:45
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, we even meanings about this night one this morning about it.
21:48
[SPEAKER_06]: It's the cost of living and if you go to a comedy club, it's usually a two drink minimum for, let's say, you take a date.
21:56
[SPEAKER_06]: And it's four drinks, plus the cost to get in and everything else.
21:59
[SPEAKER_06]: And then how long the show goes.
22:00
[SPEAKER_06]: And then obviously it's never two drinks.
22:03
[SPEAKER_06]: Two drinks and four for turns in the six.
22:04
[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, exactly.
22:05
[SPEAKER_06]: And by the end of the night, you're like, well, shit.
22:07
[SPEAKER_04]: And by the way, when I started in comedy, you could go to the stress factory in New Jersey.
22:11
[SPEAKER_04]: You see the best comics on earth.
22:13
[SPEAKER_04]: The tickets were $10.
22:15
[SPEAKER_04]: The drinks were $5.
22:16
[SPEAKER_04]: It was a $20 date night.
22:17
[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
22:18
[SPEAKER_04]: So that's how it was, it George Carlin said it.
22:22
[SPEAKER_04]: It's the low man's art.
22:26
[SPEAKER_04]: Sports all of its suffers as it becomes a rich man's game.
22:30
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, you know, and I'm not trying to like say anything that about rich get rich Be rich.
22:34
[SPEAKER_04]: I love it, but there's that old Chinese saying the The oh
22:43
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, if you give your kids everything you never have, they become everything that you're not, right?
22:49
[SPEAKER_04]: So like, it's the struggle that made you successful.
22:52
[SPEAKER_04]: And if you remove that struggle, then the younger generation is unsuccessful, right?
22:57
[SPEAKER_04]: But now you look at the NBA.
22:57
[SPEAKER_04]: The NBA is all rich kids now.
22:59
[SPEAKER_04]: There's not kids from the streets playing in the NBA anymore.
23:02
[SPEAKER_04]: It's all second generation third generation NBA play.
23:04
[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
23:04
[SPEAKER_06]: And I were talking about the sun sportsman.
23:07
[SPEAKER_06]: It's Europeans.
23:08
[SPEAKER_06]: That's why they're taking over, too, because they're so lazy.
23:11
[SPEAKER_06]: and they don't really learn the skills and everything else that's uh, Europeans that you're taking away from your family at 13, 14 years old plan of probably.
23:18
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
23:18
[SPEAKER_04]: So comedy has become like a trust fund baby thing.
23:22
[SPEAKER_04]: and like people at that have built in wealth, they can market themselves, they get all their followers, their followers, they're like, so that you're your best comedy and your best social commentary doesn't generally come from the trust fund class, right?
23:38
[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, kind of losing those voices, and this is why Kiltoni and the mothership are so important because this is one of those places where you can.
23:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Now what they do and maybe this is what I'm driving at is
23:47
[SPEAKER_04]: The mothership and kiltony specifically are the only places in America that market to the blue collar male audience.
23:57
[SPEAKER_04]: All of comedy for 20 years was a gender studies lecture.
24:02
[SPEAKER_04]: It was far left wing tip of the spear.
24:04
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, and half of the population said, I'm not paying $150 to sit and get fucking browbeat.
24:11
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
24:11
[SPEAKER_04]: So that audience disappeared.
24:12
[SPEAKER_04]: When I started in comedy, there'd be bachelor parties, there'd be, you know, groups of cops, there'd be dudes, and that's a fun audience.
24:19
[SPEAKER_04]: That audience does not yet offend it.
24:21
[SPEAKER_04]: That audience, you can fuck with them and bring the room wherever you want it to.
24:24
[SPEAKER_06]: That audience is also hard to control.
24:26
[SPEAKER_06]: Those bachelor at parties?
24:27
[SPEAKER_06]: Goddamn, dude.
24:28
[SPEAKER_06]: I saw bachelor at party walking in a room.
24:30
[SPEAKER_06]: I was like,
24:31
[SPEAKER_06]: It's going to be a rough one, dude, and I'll get back there.
24:35
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, well, there's always one, though, that's just so goddamn loud.
24:39
[SPEAKER_06]: We were just like, all right, cool, but let's take the reverse to this, and we'll go back to comedians that are kind of popping.
24:47
[SPEAKER_06]: This is simply because the clips go viral and then they end up building a career.
24:50
[SPEAKER_06]: Matt Rife, start with him.
24:53
[SPEAKER_06]: Matt Rife came out of nowhere for me.
24:55
[SPEAKER_06]: I'd never heard of this guy, nothing was during COVID.
24:58
[SPEAKER_06]: When everybody's on their phones and they're bored, they're at home and all this other shit and pop soft there.
25:04
[SPEAKER_06]: He's got a million clips.
25:06
[SPEAKER_06]: What's his story?
25:07
[SPEAKER_01]: See, if I can, you know, he started when he was 16.
25:09
[SPEAKER_06]: He did.
25:10
[SPEAKER_01]: But his grandfather would take him to clubs.
25:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
25:12
[SPEAKER_01]: And he started a long time before people.
25:14
[SPEAKER_01]: But I found him during COVID too.
25:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
25:17
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I, I think Matt, what I like about Matt is that he's, he's very self-aware, you know, like a lot of people kill him, you know, because you know, in the comedy community, crowdwork is seen as cheap.
25:29
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, right.
25:30
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, you know, I don't know why.
25:32
[SPEAKER_04]: Well because you're seeing the end of a clip right then people see that and they go oh this is this is what comedy is and then they want to be a crowdwork comic and they start roasting the crowd and they're just antagonistic and they're nasty and they're mean
25:47
[SPEAKER_04]: Right, and then when the audience doesn't give them that interaction that they see then they turn on the audience and now You know because when you're doing a showcase show and you're one of five comics on a show It's not fair to the rest of the comics that you're just using your 10 minutes to try to clip harvest and you're destroying the room Right plus the people that are seeing know that going on stage that they're clip harvesting.
26:06
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know There's there's a lot of people that want to be famous.
26:08
[SPEAKER_04]: They don't want to be good.
26:09
[SPEAKER_06]: That's what you know That's what I think too.
26:11
[SPEAKER_06]: So when I see some of these clips.
26:13
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm like man
26:14
[SPEAKER_06]: I wonder if I saw them in person if it would actually be a good set or if they're just looking for clips to child.
26:20
[SPEAKER_04]: I'll talk shit.
26:20
[SPEAKER_04]: I'll talk shit about Steve Hofstetter and he sells out fucking everywhere and like, you know, he's got 18, 19, you know, comic owns heckler videos that go super viral and I'm like,
26:29
[SPEAKER_04]: Dude, if you're getting heckled 18 fucking times in a year, what is going on with your sad?
26:34
[SPEAKER_04]: Hold him up, Bob.
26:35
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know who this is.
26:36
[SPEAKER_04]: I just saw a left wing dude, like, and it's like, oh, he owns heckler now.
26:41
[SPEAKER_04]: Also, I don't, you know, this is a rumor.
26:43
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to make unsubstantiated claims, but I'm gonna.
26:46
[SPEAKER_04]: I heard he does plants now because those videos do so well.
26:48
[SPEAKER_04]: He has a plant to heckle them and I'm like, bro, your sad is so fucking bad.
26:53
[SPEAKER_04]: You have to have a plant to heckle you?
26:59
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah, good.
27:02
[SPEAKER_06]: Play a clip.
27:04
[SPEAKER_06]: Is this him and in crowdwork?
27:05
[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, and I want to get breakfast.
27:09
[SPEAKER_09]: I want to do this grocery store and fashion's self-lettuff-gullet lift.
27:14
[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, I could go for some hash browns.
27:17
[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
27:30
[SPEAKER_07]: Yep, I'll go.
27:31
[SPEAKER_07]: You can cut that clip there, Bob.
27:34
[SPEAKER_07]: I know that you guys need fucking sucks.
27:36
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so like, if you're, Canadian should not be getting heckled.
27:39
[SPEAKER_04]: You have rough crowds.
27:40
[SPEAKER_04]: You have what Routy crowds, but if you're getting heckled that often, means you weren't good.
27:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, brother.
27:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
27:45
[SPEAKER_04]: You don't, so anyway, so the thing with that right from the thing with all crowd or comics and Donna, you know, you're opinion on this too.
27:53
[SPEAKER_04]: that you build up that trust with the audience.
27:55
[SPEAKER_04]: Dave Landau is one of the best crowdwork comics in the world.
27:58
[SPEAKER_04]: But his material is fantastic.
28:00
[SPEAKER_04]: He does material.
28:01
[SPEAKER_04]: He builds up trust.
28:03
[SPEAKER_04]: He doesn't just say, oh, you're in a accountant.
28:04
[SPEAKER_04]: You must not give me a pussy.
28:05
[SPEAKER_04]: Asshole, am I right?
28:06
[SPEAKER_04]: No, like the beauty of crowdwork is, you know, you're an asshole.
28:12
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm an asshole too.
28:13
[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm the biggest jerk here and then if I go to you and you're the asshole and you don't like it.
28:19
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, why not?
28:20
[SPEAKER_04]: We're in this thing together.
28:22
[SPEAKER_04]: All of us, this the whole beauty, all of us are assholes.
28:24
[SPEAKER_04]: That's why we're here.
28:25
[SPEAKER_04]: So you're left, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're black, you're gay, you're straight.
28:29
[SPEAKER_04]: We're all us, baby.
28:30
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, we're in this thing together.
28:31
[SPEAKER_04]: We're all assholes.
28:33
[SPEAKER_04]: That's crowdwork when it's done well.
28:34
[SPEAKER_04]: Big J. Oakerson, phenomenal at it.
28:36
[SPEAKER_04]: you know, Dave Landow, incredible crowd work guy.
28:39
[SPEAKER_04]: But what's happening with this younger crop, this new crop, and all this goes back to why people aren't, you know, buying tickets is because they see this TikTok famous people who are roasting the audience essentially without doing any of this legwork of building that trust and, you know, familiarity.
28:56
[SPEAKER_04]: And then you pay $200 to see them and then you're like, the comedy sucks.
29:02
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
29:02
[SPEAKER_04]: And then you know, I'm like, how bad was the show that, you know, and I hear this too was like, ah, we went to a comedy show last month.
29:07
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not really for us.
29:08
[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, how bad was that comedy show that you're turned off from the entire genre?
29:12
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
29:12
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, that's crazy.
29:13
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I know why if that's your one date night, like I always used to put it in terms of like just small.
29:19
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, all right, let's just put all this in a box.
29:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Why is somebody here tonight?
29:24
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
29:26
[SPEAKER_06]: So that's why I try to be the best on podcast every day that I possibly can be stand up every night that I did want to use to do it is think of what the audience did to get them out of the house to go and see your show or listen to your podcast.
29:39
[SPEAKER_06]: Think of the money they spent the time they spent.
29:42
[SPEAKER_06]: This is a one night off.
29:43
[SPEAKER_06]: They might have, you know, some blue collar jobs or hardworking whatever it is.
29:48
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I try to give the best possible job on the podcast every day you have to and if you don't and then you get out there and let's say one guy ruins it And you get there and it's your favorite comedian and then he fucking sucks You're just like God damn dude.
30:02
[SPEAKER_06]: I just blew two hundred and eighty dollars on this I'm not going back again if this is what's damn if this is what stand-up comedy is this is not what I saw in the internet Right, this isn't what I signed up for these aren't the fucking clips that I saw so I'm not going back to to that that's I'm just in a you know
30:17
[SPEAKER_06]: working class kind of vibe here of like of of why what they're thinking and why they're not coming back to comedy well it's like a restaurant we have a really bad food experience you're not gonna go back to that restaurant right yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah do you watch uh the that's ever guy
30:35
[SPEAKER_04]: The bar rescue.
30:36
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, my friend Ali Torres is on that show.
30:38
[SPEAKER_04]: Ali Torres is the best shout out to Torres.
30:40
[SPEAKER_04]: You're amazing.
30:41
[SPEAKER_04]: She got stuck up.
30:42
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if I'm lucky.
30:43
[SPEAKER_04]: What's the name of the restaurant?
30:44
[SPEAKER_04]: What's the name of the restaurant?
30:45
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think I'm allowed to tell the story.
30:47
[SPEAKER_04]: Because the name of the restaurant.
30:48
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
30:50
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not, I'm actually, I've, I've said too much.
30:54
[SPEAKER_06]: Lovely.
30:54
[SPEAKER_06]: Lovely.
30:55
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm sorry.
30:55
[SPEAKER_06]: With, with Tapper, I saw him on our interview.
30:57
[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, he was on a, he was on a podcast.
30:59
[SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, and he said, it was similar.
31:01
[SPEAKER_06]: Where he goes, look, man, with restaurants.
31:03
[SPEAKER_06]: Um, just trying to get somebody out the door.
31:05
[SPEAKER_06]: So you go to restaurant.
31:07
[SPEAKER_06]: Fucking hard, dude.
31:09
[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, but once they're in there.
31:10
[SPEAKER_06]: A repeat customer is like, man, you're looking at 30%.
31:12
[SPEAKER_06]: Just to come back to that same restaurant.
31:15
[SPEAKER_06]: Right?
31:16
[SPEAKER_06]: Second time, 45%.
31:17
[SPEAKER_06]: And it goes, third time, 65%.
31:20
[SPEAKER_06]: It goes, if you can get them the fourth time.
31:22
[SPEAKER_06]: That's when you know you probably have a customer for life.
31:25
[SPEAKER_06]: Problem is, you've got to be the best you possibly can all four of those nights.
31:30
[SPEAKER_06]: Those strangers that are coming into that restaurant that
31:32
[SPEAKER_06]: They want to come back to your restaurant forever and they will always support you right I think comedy is the exact same way and that's what's getting spoiled by it Well, what's so different about food?
31:42
[SPEAKER_04]: Did you're going to that restaurant if you know the type of food you're probably gonna get you don't know what you're gonna get when you go to a comedy No, right I also think it over exposed to like you could be really excited about seeing Carlin once a year or Tosh once a year
31:54
[SPEAKER_04]: Because they put out a special once a year and weren't seeing their content on social media every day.
32:00
[SPEAKER_04]: You weren't seeing their opinion on podcasts, there's a lot of people that used the love being and I said something wrong about something they cared about and now they don't love me anymore.
32:06
[SPEAKER_04]: And so the more you speak, the more you expose yourself, sure you pick up new followers, but you also lose people too.
32:12
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, because God forbid, you know, like to rise on the rights.
32:15
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no, or I thought George was one of us, how dare you, you know, say Trump is trying to turn Persian to Mark Levinistan.
32:21
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, like, yes.
32:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because he is, you know, but you said the bachelor that's before her audience terrified of me.
32:29
[SPEAKER_04]: What is your heart walking into her room?
32:32
[SPEAKER_04]: Wood.
32:33
[SPEAKER_04]: Is it moms?
32:34
[SPEAKER_04]: Is it all fucking dripping down her house?
32:37
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's moms and older people.
32:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Older people love me.
32:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I should live in Florida.
32:42
[SPEAKER_01]: I did the best time in Naples and Book of Return.
32:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Something about me brings in.
32:46
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's also the neighbor gotsy thing.
32:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you see all these old people going to see neighbor gotsy because they know he's clean.
32:53
[SPEAKER_01]: And they know they're going to laugh.
32:54
[SPEAKER_01]: And I get on a much smaller scale.
32:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that's with me.
32:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Because my other comedian friends give me shit about it all the time.
32:59
[SPEAKER_01]: You see all the blue hairs you brought this time and I'm like, yep, they paid money.
33:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Good money.
33:02
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
33:03
[SPEAKER_01]: They paid 30 bucks a second.
33:05
[SPEAKER_06]: Do you mind me asking all of you?
33:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm 54.
33:07
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so that's, but that's your demographic.
33:10
[SPEAKER_01]: That's my demographic.
33:10
[SPEAKER_06]: And you're also going to go back to what Jarrod said earlier in the show of you are a mom, proud to be a mom, proud to be a clean comic.
33:17
[SPEAKER_06]: Obviously is you wrote in your bio and all that other stuff.
33:19
[SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, that chances are that that's the audience you're going to get.
33:23

41:19
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
41:19
[SPEAKER_01]: I did a show with him and that was fine.
41:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Why did you go after him?
41:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a follow anyway.
41:23
[SPEAKER_06]: Not that.
41:25
[SPEAKER_06]: But let's say you have this aggressive community that comes out there and he fucking kills, right?
41:30
[SPEAKER_06]: And he's awesome.
41:31
[SPEAKER_06]: And then there's a clean mom.
41:33
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... you guys are not the same fucking audience so that's a good show together and for a very fantastic yeah we were but i bet it was i was his feature so i didn't obviously go after him that wouldn't have gone well me going before him i think was good she's a pro man she's great and but we kind of had a last night at the mother ship and it's
41:50
[SPEAKER_04]: There's a very competitive nature.
41:52
[SPEAKER_04]: They're bottom of the barrel's fantastic.
41:53
[SPEAKER_04]: You don't know what you're going to say.
41:54
[SPEAKER_04]: You pull it out of the barrel, and then you're supposed to riff on the topic.
41:58
[SPEAKER_04]: That's right up my alley.
41:59
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I've been talking shit forever.
42:00
[SPEAKER_04]: I got out of raw brain.
42:01
[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I got this.
42:03
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's go.
42:04
[SPEAKER_04]: And you had before me, it was tomorrow neighbors.
42:07
[SPEAKER_04]: He's fantastic.
42:09
[SPEAKER_04]: Sam Lopez is great.
42:10
[SPEAKER_04]: Then he got, you know, Casey Rocket dropped in.
42:13
[SPEAKER_04]: And then it was me.
42:15
[SPEAKER_04]: I love Casey.
42:16
[SPEAKER_06]: So you got energy energy.
42:17
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that's one of my best memories from moving here, by the way.
42:20
[SPEAKER_04]: Casey's great, and then you got me, and I got to give all the credit in the world the Casey gave me the hot, the room was smoking hot, and passed the baton, and that's what you're trying to do in that situation to keep the room hot, and I walked off, and then the room was hot, and then the person that followed me has a very more quiet, demure.
42:39
[SPEAKER_04]: It was me, but it was tough act of follow, it's tough act of follow, like you know, when the room's at that kind of energy, you got to try to match that energy, and if that's
42:50
[SPEAKER_06]: If that's not your lane man that could that could be a that could be a an intimidating thing Yeah, because with Casey like you know we got five days left until we move out of here We are only that we're probably the only studio in town That would just let everybody come and shoot and try shit and everything else We did from day one and then say hey just pay the producer separately.
43:11
[SPEAKER_06]: I think you shot slick and thick here with yeah with everybody else and like
43:16
[SPEAKER_06]: Bill Burr has been in Adam Ray, you name it.
43:18
[SPEAKER_06]: They've come and do shows here, fighter in the kid, whoever, right?
43:21
[SPEAKER_06]: We don't care.
43:22
[SPEAKER_06]: Like just pay the producers and you're good.
43:24
[SPEAKER_06]: This is what the community should be about, but nobody else does it.
43:27
[SPEAKER_06]: Now, with Casey Rocket, there was a show that I had tried to launch.
43:32
[SPEAKER_06]: It was called Giggle Boys, and it was with Eli, Halpern, and
43:37
[SPEAKER_06]: Mike Eaton, and they brought Casey Rockin' in, and I had no idea who this was.
43:43
[SPEAKER_04]: That was a kill tone he got.
43:45
[SPEAKER_06]: But that is his way, way before a kill tone.
43:47
[SPEAKER_06]: And this is 2020.
43:48
[SPEAKER_06]: So like, no one knew who Casey Rockin' was.
43:50
[SPEAKER_06]: Like he was just here, local, I thought he was on meth.
43:54
[SPEAKER_06]: He was missing it tooth.
43:56
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I mean, no, I mean, you've seen him, right?
43:57
[SPEAKER_06]: So like, he still looks the same.
44:00
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
44:00
[SPEAKER_06]: Same dude, right?
44:01
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, what's the story?
44:02
[SPEAKER_06]: And I saw him pacing back and forth in the hallway.
44:04
[SPEAKER_06]: And Mike Eaton was the one who came out and grabbed me and he goes, uh, he goes, hey, stick around and watch this guy and I was like, okay, I was like, on a podcast and he's like, yeah, and he goes, uh, we, we write this segment called the worm report.
44:16
[SPEAKER_06]: and it's just for him and it's just like, hey, this is Casey Rockett and this is the worm report.
44:20
[SPEAKER_06]: And he would just walk in, grab a mic, and then talk about worms for six to eight minutes, and about their day, about the weather, about what happened to them throughout the day, about their fears, about 80 words per minute, by the way.
44:34
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, my God.
44:36
[SPEAKER_06]: And it was, and I sat there and I was out, because it was a, you know, we've got seven sets in here, and like I was outside.
44:41
[SPEAKER_06]: It was a set like that was in the back and I was looking at the set and I'm watching him do this And I'm like who the fuck is this guy like I never seen anything like it And then he would just get up and leave It'll the show like you did a segment then he would get up and leave or whatever and Second of the time I never seen him watching him back in the back office and then he walks out and I'm gonna hit me what's your name And he goes I get he goes kids rock it and I go
45:03
[SPEAKER_06]: I've never seen anything like you in my entire life.
45:06
[SPEAKER_06]: And I go, I think you're brilliant.
45:08
[SPEAKER_06]: And I think you could be something.
45:10
[SPEAKER_06]: You're going to literally have to do this on your own because I don't even know who to compare you to.
45:15
[SPEAKER_06]: Robin Williams.
45:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Ah.
45:17
[SPEAKER_06]: Trailer Park Robin Williams.
45:18
[SPEAKER_06]: Robin Williams though was very structured and he had writers.
45:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Like a lot of people don't know that.
45:23
[SPEAKER_06]: We also stole a lot of material back in the day.
45:26
[SPEAKER_04]: He admitted it, though.
45:27
[SPEAKER_04]: He did?
45:27
[SPEAKER_06]: No, no, no, you're not.
45:29
[SPEAKER_06]: But Casey doesn't.
45:30
[SPEAKER_06]: And like Casey was so unusual that it was just like, I mean, I didn't even see notes on him when he was in the office.
45:37
[SPEAKER_06]: So like, I don't know.
45:38
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what's real.
45:39
[SPEAKER_06]: It's not with him.
45:40
[SPEAKER_06]: But he was brilliant.
45:41
[SPEAKER_06]: And watching him go now when he comes into a room because of Kiltowni and everything else to the world stops when he's on.
45:48
[SPEAKER_06]: And you're like, holy shit, following him would be rough because I've never seen anything like that in my life.
45:55
[SPEAKER_06]: It's just so off the wall like Robin Williams, yes, it was off the wall, but it was still topical where it was like Casey will talk about fucking shoes at a trailer park for fucking ten minutes or just like jelly shoes or something and you're like all right.
46:07
[SPEAKER_04]: I think yeah, but I think you're remembering Robin Williams at the end when he was refined and more mature.
46:12
[SPEAKER_04]: Go watch some young Robin Williams from like the late seventies early eighties.
46:15
[SPEAKER_04]: It's
46:15
[SPEAKER_04]: bonkers.
46:17
[SPEAKER_04]: It's it's bonkers.
46:19
[SPEAKER_04]: There's no he he he didn't he had not refined that yet.
46:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, it's I think he was still doing cocaine performance enhancing, you know, so early Robin Williams is some bonkers stuff.
46:32
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, you can tell he's the most talented guy in the room my god, but you're like
46:35
[SPEAKER_04]: What fucking acid dream that I just step into this is crazy?
46:39
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I loved him like when he got big obviously and like I was old enough to to know who he was and enjoyed him and all that other shit And then I finally got to meet him in real life once in Los Angeles.
46:49
[SPEAKER_06]: No, no, it was depressing.
46:51
[SPEAKER_01]: What don't you hear us?
46:52
[SPEAKER_04]: What I got to do a better job of
46:54
[SPEAKER_04]: And I was talking about this last night, my clips online suck.
47:02
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm fucking dynamite, but my clips suck.
47:05
[SPEAKER_04]: And writing for TV is a completely different thing than writing for your stage.
47:10
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what that was your background.
47:12
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, yeah, but I wrote on TV, but I'm saying like writing the jokes for TV, like joke structure.
47:18
[SPEAKER_04]: You almost have to write it like a sitcom.
47:20
[SPEAKER_04]: and perform it to be edited.
47:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, for, and like, when you talk about like Matt, right, and stuff like that.
47:26
[SPEAKER_04]: One of the things that's very underrated is like, he is very clearly performing for the clip.
47:33
[SPEAKER_04]: He's not taking a great moment in the show and clipping it, because when you try to do that, it never translates, it doesn't translate, right?
47:43
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, he is writing and performing specifically to then take the Andrew Schultz does as well as him, unbelievably good at it.
47:56
[SPEAKER_04]: for the internet.
47:58
[SPEAKER_06]: Does that make sense when I'm saying it does because I watched his last two specials and I think he's become a very very great stand-up comedian who enjoyed yes I don't but he's unreal I personally like love his stand-up is podcasts whatever but as a stand-up comedian and
48:17
[SPEAKER_06]: There was one thing that I needed help for, and I was tagged.
48:20
[SPEAKER_06]: I was like, hey, you know what?
48:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Whatever you respond in like five minutes, and I don't know.
48:23
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm like, at all.
48:24
[SPEAKER_06]: It's part of your spend on the show, though.
48:26
[SPEAKER_06]: And either way, his stand-up is excellence, and you almost sit there and watch it, and you're like, man, because it's very rare that people can do both good.
48:35
[SPEAKER_06]: Podcasts and stand-up.
48:36
[SPEAKER_06]: I think Shultz should just be a professional stand-up comedian.
48:39
[SPEAKER_06]: You don't like playwright?
48:42
[SPEAKER_06]: No, I mean, it's flip too much for me back and forth, where it's just like, where is both of those guys this stand-up comedian's now?
48:49
[SPEAKER_06]: Both.
48:50
[SPEAKER_06]: I think we're excellent, and it's like, when you start to get great at it, you can tell that it's almost like they don't wanna do podcast anymore.
48:57
[SPEAKER_06]: That's, I guess that's the best way to stay it.
49:00
[SPEAKER_06]: And there's a few other comedians that I feel that way about.
49:03
[SPEAKER_06]: They're podcasts are big.
49:05
[SPEAKER_06]: But you can tell they're making so much money to do and stand up and they enjoy it more.
49:08
[SPEAKER_06]: They're just like, man, I gotta go back and do the podcast to have the fans to go to the fucking stand-up thing.
49:12
[SPEAKER_04]: Right, but I mean, that goes back to what we were saying before, like Brett Cooper's doing stand-up now.
49:17
[SPEAKER_04]: And she's like selling out, she goes in Nashville, and you're like, okay, yeah, I don't want to get keep comedy from anybody.
49:25
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to be that guy, but also at the same time,
49:28
[SPEAKER_04]: Why's Breck Cooper doing stand-up now, but it's the same way with me.
49:31
[SPEAKER_06]: So when the podcasts took off and all the other shit for for us Agents immediately called say hey go back and just stand up and sell it all the shit and I go no I go I'm not good at anymore It takes time work.
49:42
[SPEAKER_06]: It's a craft.
49:43
[SPEAKER_06]: You have to go up there every single night.
49:44
[SPEAKER_06]: I go I got wife kids all that stuff I go I want to spend time with them and I don't want to spend time at getting good at comedy anymore
49:52
[SPEAKER_06]: And here's where my agent said, it doesn't matter.
49:54
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
49:55
[SPEAKER_06]: There we go.
49:56
[SPEAKER_06]: It does.
49:57
[SPEAKER_06]: And I go, well, and here was my pushback.
50:00
[SPEAKER_06]: And this is why I haven't done it.
50:02
[SPEAKER_06]: And this was my pushback to hit my go look.
50:05
[SPEAKER_06]: Here's why I'm not doing that.
50:06
[SPEAKER_06]: Let's say somebody who watches my podcast on a daily basis comes out and sees me do stand up in its shitty.
50:12
[SPEAKER_06]: They will not listen to my podcast anymore.
50:14
[SPEAKER_06]: So, good point.
50:16
[SPEAKER_06]: You're stealing from people.
50:17
[SPEAKER_06]: Basically, you're stealing money from people.
50:19
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
50:20
[SPEAKER_06]: 100% agree.
50:21
[SPEAKER_06]: And like, I don't want to do that.
50:23
[SPEAKER_06]: I didn't want to do that.
50:24
[SPEAKER_06]: And I said no for three, four years.
50:26
[SPEAKER_06]: And then finally they just stopped asking.
50:28
[SPEAKER_04]: But why not just do a live podcast.
50:29
[SPEAKER_04]: Like I understand.
50:30
[SPEAKER_04]: We did.
50:31
[SPEAKER_04]: We did.
50:31
[SPEAKER_04]: We did more about like Brett Cooper.
50:33
[SPEAKER_04]: Who I enjoy.
50:34
[SPEAKER_04]: I like Brett Cooper.
50:35
[SPEAKER_04]: I think her podcast is good.
50:37
[SPEAKER_04]: Is that a car daddy?
50:37
[SPEAKER_04]: No, uh, Brett Cooper was the chick who looked like Ben Shapiro and then got fired with her.
50:42
[SPEAKER_04]: She's doing stand-up?
50:43
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yeah.
50:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, boy.
50:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Why, yeah.
50:45
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I'm saying, dude.
50:46
[SPEAKER_04]: Ah, it's not.
50:47
[SPEAKER_04]: No.
50:48
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, sir?
50:48
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, dude.
50:49
[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm on my high horse here.
50:52
[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like such an elitist prick so far.
50:54
[SPEAKER_04]: This episode.
50:54
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god, I'm the arbiter of comedy.
50:57
[SPEAKER_04]: No, but it's like, you know, the comedy community.
51:01
[SPEAKER_04]: getting past at a club used to really mean something because the club took on the the responsibility of vetting for the audience.
51:10
[SPEAKER_04]: If this person is playing at the comedy seller, do you know that they are fucking good?
51:16
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and the seller still has that standard.
51:19
[SPEAKER_06]: And well, and it was hard to get in there.
51:20
[SPEAKER_06]: You had to, your agent had to call or you had to know somebody or whatever it was.
51:24
[SPEAKER_06]: That's all I got on.
51:25
[SPEAKER_06]: Um, was that.
51:27
[SPEAKER_06]: And yeah, I couldn't imagine just walking into a place.
51:29
[SPEAKER_06]: And then, oh, hey, I'm up on stage.
51:31
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, that isn't.
51:32
[SPEAKER_04]: Or I got 200,000 followers doing lip sync videos.
51:36
[SPEAKER_04]: So let me get a weekend at the Miami improv.
51:38
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, oh, what the, like, what?
51:39
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you know, like it, and then we wonder why nobody is going to the comedy clubs.
51:46
[SPEAKER_04]: Like you like theoretically speaking, we should all do a Doug Stan hope does if we have to sell 100% of the tickets Like I'm not a comedian anymore.
51:55
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a I'm a ticket sales man.
51:57
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a I'm a promoter.
51:58
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you know like I told you I don't consider myself a comedian.
52:01
[SPEAKER_04]: I consider myself an open road trucker who has to deliver the world's worst fucking product me
52:05
[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, you know what I mean?
52:06
[SPEAKER_04]: Like that's my job is to drive me from place to place.
52:09
[SPEAKER_04]: Right?
52:09
[SPEAKER_04]: Like that's, you know, the comedy is a reward I get for not dying along the way.
52:13
[SPEAKER_04]: Like this is, but would Stan hope does, as he says, fuck it.
52:17
[SPEAKER_04]: And if I, if I'm getting 100% door deal, I'm going to do a VFW.
52:21
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to do a Ritz theater.
52:22
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to, somebody have a big enough backyard.
52:24
[SPEAKER_04]: We'll do it there.
52:26
[SPEAKER_04]: Like like the venue,
52:28
[SPEAKER_04]: The venue has a responsibility.
52:30
[SPEAKER_04]: These massive venues have a responsibility to the industry that you have to a provide the,
52:40
[SPEAKER_04]: What would you consider it?
52:41
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not excellence.
52:44
[SPEAKER_04]: What do you like the vetting?
52:46
[SPEAKER_04]: Like you're vetting these products out.
52:48
[SPEAKER_04]: If you're on the stage at the Kansas City Funnybone, this is a very good professional act, right?
52:54
[SPEAKER_04]: And then you want to that in and of itself when you have a good product,
52:58
[SPEAKER_04]: will engender more business people again when i was coming up in comment back in my day but when i was coming up in comedy and i was starting as a host at the stress factory in New Jersey there was a hundred people every friday didn't matter who was on states because they knew whoever viny booked was going to be unreal they had never heard of Greg Gerardo but they did after the show was over sure the rich voss wasn't rich voss but then they see rich voss you know i'm saying you got chappelle you got Jim brewer you got these got and it's like hey what are you doing on friday we're going on the stress factory
53:28
[SPEAKER_04]: We have dinner before we go to the stress factory after we go to the bar after, and that was a part of their Friday routine, and that is now gone.
53:37
[SPEAKER_04]: Does that make sense?
53:38
[SPEAKER_06]: It is.
53:39
[SPEAKER_06]: And again, the time we're in, money's tight for a lot of Americans, at factors in, obviously.
53:47
[SPEAKER_06]: And if they're going out, they want to go and see somebody famous.
53:51
[SPEAKER_06]: As I said at the top of the show, when people come here and they go to Kiltoni or whatever, like,
53:55
[SPEAKER_04]: want to see Tony Henskler if they want to see the famous people that are there right people go to the mothership they want to see fucking hopefully we will get less so that you get less or so what you're saying is if I may understand you correctly because I think you just really might hit hit on something right there instead of going to the stress factory every weekend on Friday
54:13
[SPEAKER_06]: Now they're saving up and going once every three months to the hard rock to see their favorite comedian right because that is that's the money they have and To be fair.
54:24
[SPEAKER_06]: I would feel the same way where Look, I'll I'll switch it from comedy to music, right?
54:30
[SPEAKER_06]: What I showed to music festival that I didn't know anybody was playing yet?
54:34
[SPEAKER_06]: No, I wouldn't and I'm sorry
54:36
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I love music.
54:38
[SPEAKER_06]: Listen to music all fucking day long, and I'll genre everything else.
54:42
[SPEAKER_06]: Don't wanna gamble a ticket on who's gonna be playing there.
54:45
[SPEAKER_06]: And...
54:47
[SPEAKER_06]: What Joe Rogan and the comedy mother ship is an excellent job at is every night you go.
54:53
[SPEAKER_06]: No matter what, you're going to see somebody famous that you know and you love and everything else.
54:57
[SPEAKER_06]: And that's why it's so hard to get tickets.
54:59
[SPEAKER_06]: That's why it's sold out.
55:00
[SPEAKER_06]: It's worth the money.
55:01
[SPEAKER_06]: It is definitely worth the price of admission.
55:03
[SPEAKER_06]: And I'll go back to a recent experience that I had where it was Brian County, our friend, our buddy.
55:10
[SPEAKER_06]: And we were having dinner and he goes, hey man, his phone goes off and he goes, I shit, Joe just, Joe.
55:16
[SPEAKER_06]: He just texted me, you know, it's a come on and do a set.
55:18
[SPEAKER_06]: It's a mothership.
55:19
[SPEAKER_06]: Now, at this point, it was me and his wife, Dan, and his girlfriend, and she's gotten out of dinner, and he's like, hey, you want to go?
55:28
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, man, I just don't like to see Stan up anymore.
55:33
[SPEAKER_06]: You know, I'm good, I've seen it all, right?
55:35
[SPEAKER_06]: And he goes, I'll do something for you tonight.
55:37
[SPEAKER_06]: And I go, okay.
55:38
[SPEAKER_06]: And I go, I know what that meant.
55:40
[SPEAKER_06]: And it was gonna be super fucked up.
55:41
[SPEAKER_06]: I did it.
55:42
[SPEAKER_06]: Half a set in French.
55:44
[SPEAKER_06]: And it's a great, but fucking de-stroyed.
55:48
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I haven't laughed that time.
55:51
[SPEAKER_06]: I'd laugh that hard at a stand-up in a very, very long time, right?
55:54
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, holy shit.
55:56
[SPEAKER_06]: But as I grabbed my wife, and I was like, go, hey, let's get out of here, like, Count's Dawn, whatever she goes.
56:03
[SPEAKER_06]: No, no, let's say, let's see, just one more.
56:05
[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe one maybe one more, you know, and getting her out.
56:08
[SPEAKER_06]: It's like she's typically sleep by like 11.
56:10
[SPEAKER_06]: And getting her out of the house was tough.
56:11
[SPEAKER_06]: But hey, did I go, you want to stay?
56:13
[SPEAKER_06]: I go, I look, I'm down.
56:15
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't really care, whatever.
56:16
[SPEAKER_06]: And then I think it was Ben Bank his that came afterwards.
56:19
[SPEAKER_11]: And it was just, oh wow.
56:21
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, Ben is out of control and awesome and on fire and everything else, he's just dying lavish.
56:27
[SPEAKER_06]: Holy shit.
56:28
[SPEAKER_06]: This is what the mother ship is.
56:30
[SPEAKER_06]: And I go, yep, this is what the mother ship is, but everybody in the audience that you're looking down, it was we're up in the VIP thing or whatever it was.
56:36
[SPEAKER_06]: Because of talent.
56:37
[SPEAKER_06]: And the green room and all that shit, and I go, everybody down there on the floor.
56:41
[SPEAKER_06]: they knew that they were going to see somebody famous tonight's and then you hear this roar from the room next door because there's like how many rooms is in that fucking place okay the roar next door and so we go back down to the bar later on Iran is a stranger listening around out in the lobby and I go what was that fucking
56:58
[SPEAKER_06]: And they were like, oh, Shane Gillis walked in, and I was like, oh, Jesus cried.
57:04
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, it was like fucking Trump had walked in the goddamn building the place erupted, right?
57:09
[SPEAKER_06]: But that's what you get with the mothership.
57:10
[SPEAKER_06]: So like, that's why he sold out every day, and that's why I understand it.
57:13
[SPEAKER_06]: However, if you go to the Miami Improv or the fucking Ha Ha hole, or whatever, and it's not somebody you like, or somebody you recognize, people aren't.
57:22
[SPEAKER_06]: going to fucking pull out the money and their wallet to go and see it.
57:25
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just... My stage name, by the way.
57:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it?
57:28
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you should.
57:29
[SPEAKER_06]: You should change it soon.
57:31
[SPEAKER_06]: I like that, but that's the truth.
57:33
[SPEAKER_06]: Right now.
57:34
[SPEAKER_06]: Now, it'll change when the economy changes, I think.
57:38
[SPEAKER_06]: But also, in a way, you have to promote yourself online and do these clips, or whatever.
57:44
[SPEAKER_06]: God, I don't even know why that guy posted that clip.
57:46
[SPEAKER_06]: Who is that guy, Steve?
57:47
[SPEAKER_06]: Hosteller?
57:47
[SPEAKER_06]: Hosteller?
57:49
[SPEAKER_06]: I would not have posted that clip, man, at all, but whatever.
57:51
[SPEAKER_06]: Every one of his clips.
57:55
[SPEAKER_06]: T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T
58:17
[SPEAKER_06]: You've really got to earn somebody's fucking dollar to go out into the world.
58:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Now, podcast is free.
58:22
[SPEAKER_06]: Come on man, I'm on iTunes and fucking Spotify every day.
58:25
[SPEAKER_06]: If you hate it, sorry, it's fucking free.
58:28
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I don't, here's you know.
58:30
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
58:31
[SPEAKER_06]: Now, if I'm on Patreon and somebody bitches, then I respond.
58:33
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I will be like, hey dude, I'm sorry.
58:35
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, here's what went on, or I apologize or whatever the thing is, right?
58:39
[SPEAKER_11]: Right.
58:39
[SPEAKER_06]: Because you feel, I personally feel guilty.
58:41
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, that's somebody else's money.
58:42
[SPEAKER_06]: And if I wasn't my best that day, fuck, it bothers me, and I don't give a shit that it's a podcast.
58:49
[SPEAKER_06]: I want to be the best I can every single day.
58:51
[SPEAKER_06]: And I think that mentality is probably going to switch over in a comedy.
58:55
[SPEAKER_06]: But like you said, if the girl who looks like the female Shapiro's going up, you know, fucking angry I'd be if I took my wife out for a date.
59:04
[SPEAKER_06]: And that's what I was served.
59:06
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, it'd be like going into a fucking steak house.
59:09
[SPEAKER_06]: And they're like, sorry, we don't want to make steak tonight.
59:11
[SPEAKER_06]: But we got this one scallop.
59:12
[SPEAKER_06]: You good?
59:13
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just afraid it's a death spiral because the club is putting her up because she has a massive audience, because tickets are down 30%.
59:20
[SPEAKER_04]: But that's what they offered me.
59:21
[SPEAKER_04]: And I said no.
59:22
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
59:24
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I, you know.
59:26
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe it's going to go the way of the movie theater, maybe it has to evolve into something else.
59:30
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe live podcasts are going to be the future, maybe something interactive.
59:35
[SPEAKER_04]: Comedy in general, it's a very new art form.
59:38
[SPEAKER_04]: The stand up, long form stand up comedy.
59:41
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, Dangerfield wasn't doing 60 minutes sets, you know, I'm saying like it was a showcase.
59:46
[SPEAKER_04]: It was Vaudeville.
59:46
[SPEAKER_04]: There was music.
59:47
[SPEAKER_04]: There was dancing.
59:49
[SPEAKER_04]: There was dinner.
59:49
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, maybe it has to get back to some sort of a variety show conceptually.
59:55
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe it shouldn't just be three people talking for 90 minutes.
59:58
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
59:59
[SPEAKER_04]: And also, I don't know, Donna's how a whole pretty good idea.
1:00:03
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you can go down the Florida and do, uh,
1:00:05
[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's how we're going to get the people here.
1:00:14
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we'll do a fuck up around for a massage.
1:00:17
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
1:00:18
[SPEAKER_04]: He's stuck around.
1:00:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Congratulations.
1:00:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the whole.
1:00:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:00:22
[SPEAKER_01]: He's tied.
1:00:22
[SPEAKER_01]: She gives a good massage.
1:00:23
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
1:00:25
[SPEAKER_06]: No offense.
1:00:26
[SPEAKER_06]: But when they won't line him up, like you're the one I pick out of line up.
1:00:29
[SPEAKER_06]: But like, okay, you.
1:00:31
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, well, I wouldn't care.
1:00:33
[SPEAKER_04]: You wouldn't pick me up.
1:00:34
[SPEAKER_06]: That's terrible.
1:00:34
[SPEAKER_06]: No, I wouldn't.
1:00:36
[SPEAKER_06]: But I think there is something to that.
1:00:38
[SPEAKER_06]: And then they also, if you see the same clips, and then you go to see the committee and they're doing the clips.
1:00:43
[SPEAKER_06]: And they're like, all right, shit.
1:00:44
[SPEAKER_06]: The first time I heard my stepdad swear in my life, right?
1:00:48
[SPEAKER_06]: And he's been like my, I always say that I have two fathers.
1:00:51
[SPEAKER_06]: because they were both excellence, and he put on a record of Roger Nagerfield, and it was a fucking vinyl.
1:00:58
[SPEAKER_06]: And he's listening to it, and I see him, and I see him, and he's not laughing, I'm laughing.
1:01:03
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm a kid, and I'm like, holy shit, I shouldn't be hearing this, so whatever, right?
1:01:06
[SPEAKER_06]: And he just goes, it gets up, turns it off, and he goes, God fucking dammit.
1:01:10
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, oh, I was like, what happened?
1:01:13
[SPEAKER_06]: I was like, do you not like this?
1:01:14
[SPEAKER_06]: I was like, it seems really funny, and he goes, I went and saw him.
1:01:17
[SPEAKER_06]: to stand up.
1:01:18
[SPEAKER_06]: The exact same set is on this fucking record.
1:01:21
[SPEAKER_04]: That's a shame.
1:01:22
[SPEAKER_04]: So when I started in comedy, they told you never post your joke, save it for the special special.
1:01:27
[SPEAKER_04]: And once you do your special, it's burned.
1:01:29
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
1:01:29
[SPEAKER_04]: Now, I think because of the internet, way things are, you have to stake your claim to that joke.
1:01:36
[SPEAKER_04]: Otherwise, somebody else will be like, he stole that joke.
1:01:38
[SPEAKER_04]: So it's, you know, we're putting out jokes really before they're ready.
1:01:41
[SPEAKER_04]: It's more of like a premise and like,
1:01:43
[SPEAKER_04]: That's like a Kanye album.
1:01:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Well now it is.
1:01:45
[SPEAKER_04]: It's almost like rappers in a mix.
1:01:46
[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, we're just testing this and then if you like it But you're gonna get bully a year later, right?
1:01:51
[SPEAKER_04]: The audience kind of comes along with you now and they're like, oh I like the way you told this one better or all this is, you know, this is getting tighter and then if if people come to my show
1:02:00
[SPEAKER_04]: I get it.
1:02:00
[SPEAKER_04]: I hear it now at the end.
1:02:02
[SPEAKER_04]: They're like, Oh, I thought you were going to do that.
1:02:03
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, Epstein Island joke.
1:02:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:02:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I get that.
1:02:05
[SPEAKER_04]: I posted it.
1:02:06
[SPEAKER_04]: That's my most viral joke.
1:02:07
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I'm not.
1:02:08
[SPEAKER_04]: I can't do that.
1:02:08
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I'm like, Oh, well, that's my favorite joke.
1:02:10
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
1:02:10
[SPEAKER_04]: It's almost, you said it's like rock stars.
1:02:12
[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of going that music way.
1:02:13
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, I think it's a free bird, man.
1:02:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:02:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:02:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I have that almost every time.
1:02:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Now some over later, my age, she's she'll say something like,
1:02:21
[SPEAKER_01]: you did that last donkey joke at the end.
1:02:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I was so scared you weren't going to do it.
1:02:25
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why we came to see you.
1:02:27
[SPEAKER_01]: That was for that show.
1:02:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Really.
1:02:28
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be close.
1:02:29
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like a hit song.
1:02:30
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, and what happens is the one person that's your fan tells the group that they bring like, oh, you got to love this person.
1:02:38
[SPEAKER_04]: And then you don't do it.
1:02:38
[SPEAKER_04]: And you don't do that one.
1:02:40
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that was my favorite.
1:02:41
[SPEAKER_04]: And like, so that meant how it's been tough.
1:02:43
[SPEAKER_04]: It's been tough kind of unlearning these rules that I learned when I got in and I got in it the like the old style.
1:02:50
[SPEAKER_04]: Like I was the old style.
1:02:51
[SPEAKER_04]: Old style.
1:02:51
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know this new world.
1:02:52
[SPEAKER_04]: Do your tight five.
1:02:54
[SPEAKER_04]: Get on, get on late night.
1:02:56
[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
1:02:57
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
1:02:57
[SPEAKER_04]: That was late night.
1:02:58
[SPEAKER_06]: If you don't know, you couldn't make it.
1:03:00
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
1:03:00
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
1:03:00
[SPEAKER_06]: To pilot.
1:03:01
[SPEAKER_04]: And but now it's like,
1:03:04
[SPEAKER_04]: behind the scenes, post everything, shameless, and just, you know, post and ghost, don't read the comments, man.
1:03:09
[SPEAKER_04]: And then I don't read the comments.
1:03:11
[SPEAKER_04]: And just when you do your set, play the hits, right?
1:03:14
[SPEAKER_06]: Play this.
1:03:15
[SPEAKER_06]: It's interesting.
1:03:15
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
1:03:16
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, because it's new Kanye album, that crush and my kids.
1:03:20
[SPEAKER_06]: I love it, my kids love it.
1:03:21
[SPEAKER_06]: And then everybody at their fucking school loves it, middle school, you know.
1:03:25
[SPEAKER_06]: That was put out a year in advance.
1:03:27
[SPEAKER_06]: It was a test, and then shit that he likes, ended up on the album a year later, or he made better, and I've never seen that before my life.
1:03:36
[SPEAKER_06]: We're putting it up on iTunes for 72 hours.
1:03:42
[SPEAKER_06]: We all ripped it, listened to it, and everything else, and then we waited a year.
1:03:46
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, what's going to make this album?
1:03:48
[SPEAKER_06]: And my kid was like, what do you think dad is it going to be this song or this song?
1:03:51
[SPEAKER_06]: Or this song?
1:03:51
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, I don't know.
1:03:52
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm hoping for this one or this one or this one.
1:03:54
[SPEAKER_06]: And then when the album came out,
1:03:55
[SPEAKER_06]: Listen to it together and he was disappointed at some of the songs were better I thought you were gonna play
1:04:05
[SPEAKER_06]: It was waiting for a while to learn and just did make the album and he was really pissed at 12 But um, no kidding, I'm totally kidding.
1:04:13
[SPEAKER_06]: No, no, Jonathan, she's surprised.
1:04:15
[SPEAKER_06]: The fuck, Donna, I know you're clean comedian, but I'm not.
1:04:19
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm just disgusting human being.
1:04:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Um, but I wish it would have been a banger.
1:04:24
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, God, is anybody ever met a banger Hitler song than that?
1:04:26
[SPEAKER_01]: No, that's the only one.
1:04:28
[SPEAKER_01]: It is great.
1:04:28
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't give a shit.
1:04:29
[SPEAKER_06]: We played, that beat goes hard.
1:04:32
[SPEAKER_06]: It was a week ago.
1:04:33
[SPEAKER_06]: We do these memes on the Monday show.
1:04:36
[SPEAKER_06]: The listeners send in.
1:04:37
[SPEAKER_06]: As soon as you hear the beat, we all know what the fucking song is.
1:04:40
[SPEAKER_06]: We know it worked for Word.
1:04:42
[SPEAKER_06]: We all know it worked for Word.
1:04:43
[SPEAKER_04]: Now, if it was, if it was, if it was to admit that we know it worked for Word, but we all know it.
1:04:46
[SPEAKER_04]: If it was in the 2000s, man, but they always had that radio dub.
1:04:49
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, like, you like, you know, DMX would be like, oh, my partners, you know, like, you know,
1:04:54
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I wasn't with my friends.
1:04:56
[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, my friend.
1:04:57
[SPEAKER_08]: Exactly.
1:04:57
[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
1:04:58
[SPEAKER_07]: And you think the radio at it would be for that?
1:05:03
[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
1:05:04
[SPEAKER_06]: But when we were in Atlanta, we were, we were high spinners.
1:05:07
[SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
1:05:08
[SPEAKER_06]: We were, we were shooting a show for the Masters and DMX is on the card.
1:05:14
[SPEAKER_06]: It was on local Atlanta radio.
1:05:17
[SPEAKER_06]: And he goes, man, DMX, man, he's got a lot of friends.
1:05:19
[SPEAKER_06]: Like we keep talking with friends.
1:05:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Dan and I looked at him.
1:05:23
[SPEAKER_06]: Are you fucking, are you part of it or are you kidding?
1:05:26
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, it's not, no, I don't know what this is.
1:05:27
[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, it's fucking DMX and I was like, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know DMX is, but it goes, oh, my friends and I was like, replace that with the end word.
1:05:35
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that's what he's actually saying in the song.
1:05:37
[SPEAKER_06]: And he was just,
1:05:38
[SPEAKER_06]: fucking is mine exploded.
1:05:40
[SPEAKER_06]: He couldn't believe it.
1:05:40
[SPEAKER_06]: He was just like, why would he say that?
1:05:42
[SPEAKER_06]: Now go, well, those are his friends too.
1:05:44
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
1:05:45
[SPEAKER_06]: But he, the friends don't go on a different term analogy for what our friends are.
1:05:51
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, maybe, maybe the future is just, you know, pushing forward through canon.
1:05:57
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, look at what Star Wars, they're, they're floating that idea out.
1:06:00
[SPEAKER_04]: Their Disney's going to just ignore the last, like, five or six Star Wars and start over from,
1:06:06
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, really, that's just gonna, they're just gonna retcon the franchise because, you know, it's like, oh, man, we've We've really destroyed this thing the only way like an honest that would be if if game of thrones came out and Redid season seven and eight and like brand woke up and it was like, whoa, that was a weird dream and just they just started Picked up from the end of season five.
1:06:27
[SPEAKER_04]: I'd be all for it, man.
1:06:29
[SPEAKER_06]: I'd be 100% that happens more than you think
1:06:31
[SPEAKER_06]: And then they'll test out these writers' rooms.
1:06:33
[SPEAKER_06]: So like, you know, I've rewritten like 80 big budget movies, right?
1:06:37
[SPEAKER_06]: Nobody knows because you don't get credit for it.
1:06:39
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm signing NDA, whatever, but they pay great.
1:06:41
[SPEAKER_06]: And you're just like, cool man, I don't really give a shit at the end of the day.
1:06:44
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't take my friends on our Friday night and see what scenes made it.
1:06:47
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know, I would kind of nod you and be like, I got four scenes in this movie.
1:06:50
[SPEAKER_06]: You know, like, yeah, but it was one in particular.
1:06:55
[SPEAKER_06]: It was a shitty movie that I loved, because I love all those shitty 70s and 80s movies.
1:07:00
[SPEAKER_06]: Toxic Avenger, you guys remember that?
1:07:02
[SPEAKER_06]: Uh-huh.
1:07:03
[SPEAKER_06]: And when Vieting pulled up Bob on screen and he was a really low budget.
1:07:09
[SPEAKER_06]: I think it was Roger Corman, there you go.
1:07:12
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, the talk's the adventure?
1:07:13
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, yeah.
1:07:14
[SPEAKER_06]: It's a trauma movie, right?
1:07:15
[SPEAKER_06]: Sure, it's yeah.
1:07:16
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, there you go.
1:07:17
[SPEAKER_06]: So, that's the same.
1:07:19
[SPEAKER_06]: Massive, massive cult classic.
1:07:20
[SPEAKER_06]: This thing is, and I'm from the Roger Corman School.
1:07:24
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
1:07:25
[SPEAKER_06]: And I use that in the center of the same James book, like I put him in there for this exact reason.
1:07:29
[SPEAKER_06]: So, I get cold and they were like, hey, it's a top secret project, and we call him the top commentaries, and I was like, cool, you can save it.
1:07:36
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not gonna tell anybody or whatever, right?
1:07:38
[SPEAKER_06]: Getting this room, and it's to rewrite the talk's a good venture.
1:07:41
[SPEAKER_06]: I was like, fuck, I go, I know exactly what you called me.
1:07:43
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm like, I'm in, let's go.
1:07:45
[SPEAKER_06]: So we start chopping it up and I go, who is it first?
1:07:48
[SPEAKER_06]: Let's start there.
1:07:49
[SPEAKER_06]: And they said it was Arnold Schwarzenegger.
1:07:51
[SPEAKER_06]: Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to play the toxic adventure.
1:07:54
[SPEAKER_06]: And, um, Wallen.
1:07:57
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, if you exactly.
1:07:58
[SPEAKER_06]: So we started writing lines for him and everything else.
1:08:01
[SPEAKER_06]: And blah, blah, blah.
1:08:02
[SPEAKER_06]: And then, uh,
1:08:04
[SPEAKER_06]: He came in and just didn't know what the fuck this was.
1:08:07
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh no, not, it was a horrific, low-bit budget movie that exploded because it was so bad.
1:08:15
[SPEAKER_06]: It was one of those movies of so bad it was good.
1:08:18
[SPEAKER_06]: And that was kind of the inspiration for the Saint James Street James shit that I did for all those years out there.
1:08:22
[SPEAKER_06]: And he didn't understand, man, like at all.
1:08:25
[SPEAKER_06]: Bob, you can look it up.
1:08:27
[SPEAKER_06]: I want to say Peter Dinklage to end it up doing it after that.
1:08:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
1:08:32
[SPEAKER_06]: It's a different direction.
1:08:34
[SPEAKER_06]: And by the way, still has not been released.
1:08:36
[SPEAKER_06]: And this was like fucking 12, 13 years ago.
1:08:39
[SPEAKER_06]: The talk, yeah, it's Dinklage.
1:08:41
[SPEAKER_06]: It is Dinklage.
1:08:41
[SPEAKER_06]: So is it out?
1:08:42
[SPEAKER_06]: It says 2023.
1:08:44
[SPEAKER_06]: Wow, I never fucking saw it, man, I can't see it.
1:08:49
[SPEAKER_06]: No, no, I do, but like, I want to say I do this rear-it's like 20, 11 or something, but yeah, Schwarzenegger was just like, I don't understand what this is.
1:08:57
[SPEAKER_06]: And he's just like, you can see the look in his eyes and he's like, I'm in the fuck out of here.
1:09:02
[SPEAKER_04]: See, out of all of the like race swapping and gender swapping, like old IPs to try to like, you know, make it new again.
1:09:08
[SPEAKER_04]: Like this would have been perfect for Amber heard.
1:09:10
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
1:09:11
[SPEAKER_04]: Look.
1:09:13
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
1:09:13
[SPEAKER_07]: But who else was in there?
1:09:15
[SPEAKER_07]: You remember who it is, the toxic advantage.
1:09:16
[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't say.
1:09:17
[SPEAKER_07]: I'll put do on your bed this summer.
1:09:19
[SPEAKER_07]: Exactly.
1:09:20
[SPEAKER_07]: But I don't.
1:09:21
[SPEAKER_10]: Who else is in there?
1:09:21
[SPEAKER_10]: Jacob Tremblay, Elijah Wooden, Kevin Bacon.
1:09:25
[SPEAKER_06]: Wow, that's how many people heard of this.
1:09:28
[SPEAKER_06]: What I'm telling you.
1:09:29
[SPEAKER_06]: This was a massive cult classic and everybody wanted to do it And then they switched to niggers.
1:09:34
[SPEAKER_06]: So I go when he got out of there.
1:09:35
[SPEAKER_06]: I go who the fuck told him to do this?
1:09:37
[SPEAKER_06]: Because his agent did I go he didn't watch the movie the original or anything.
1:09:41
[SPEAKER_06]: I was like if he watched that Is it so bad?
1:09:44
[SPEAKER_06]: It's hard to get through You have to be a fan of that genre.
1:09:47
[SPEAKER_06]: We got to go get cool
1:09:48
[SPEAKER_06]: it's like it's so bad it's a good type of a deal like like warriors exactly what it is yes and he just couldn't wrap his mind around it sure at all but everybody else loves this movie so like every celebrity in their mother was gonna sign on we knew it so we were excited for the gig and uh but you know sometimes you don't get to see the shit play out until
1:10:08
[SPEAKER_06]: forever later, right?
1:10:10
[SPEAKER_06]: But that's another part about understanding your audience and the things that you're doing.
1:10:14
[SPEAKER_06]: And you've really got to stand top a ship on a daily basis where you lose touch with the fucking world dude.
1:10:20
[SPEAKER_06]: That's the other part about what's going on right now is everybody's wrapped up in a politics.
1:10:25
[SPEAKER_06]: And that's what they're following, versus movies, and culture, and things like money as a man.
1:10:30
[SPEAKER_06]: I understand sucks, I wish it wasn't, but do you want to be a political comedian?
1:10:35
[SPEAKER_06]: You probably don't, don't I?
1:10:37
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I can't even spell political.
1:10:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
1:10:39
[SPEAKER_01]: No, nope, nope.
1:10:40
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I don't even know how to fail for later courses.
1:10:43
[SPEAKER_07]: Man, you just have to do some, but only when he's around black people.
1:10:46
[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
1:10:47
[SPEAKER_07]: But you tell jokes like that.
1:10:49
[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, but a lot of months ago.
1:10:51
[SPEAKER_06]: I never did that.
1:10:53
[SPEAKER_06]: A lot of people and they leave the house they're like, man, I was watching the news.
1:10:57
[SPEAKER_06]: Fucking this and this and this, right?
1:10:58
[SPEAKER_06]: This is my favorite podcast today.
1:11:00
[SPEAKER_06]: which is probably what it is, because I'm watching the fucking news.
1:11:02
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm the only one who does.
1:11:04
[SPEAKER_06]: Talking about politics or whatever's going on life, and you're trying to figure out what's going on, and then they go out that night, they don't want to hear about politics.
1:11:09
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
1:11:10
[SPEAKER_06]: And even in some of like Ben Bankers' clips that get served to me, it's a love of them.
1:11:16
[SPEAKER_06]: People are walking out of a show.
1:11:17
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, they're just like, oh man, this is not, I didn't know that.
1:11:19
[SPEAKER_06]: I thought I was signin' up for here comin' tonight.
1:11:21
[SPEAKER_04]: That's something I got to keep in mind, and I got to be better about too, because if I'm in a room,
1:11:27
[SPEAKER_04]: where there's like a bunch of very left wing or woke, you know, people that none of comics that are brow-beating the audience.
1:11:39
[SPEAKER_04]: I get a hair up my ass to be like, oh yeah.
1:11:41
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:11:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
1:11:45
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's see how, let's see how you like it when the rabbit's got the gun.
1:11:48
[SPEAKER_04]: And then I forget about servicing the audience and attaining them.
1:11:53
[SPEAKER_04]: And I just want to tell the back of the room, hey, Kobe has my ass tastes.
1:11:57
[SPEAKER_04]: Right on him, so, and that's, because, again, so much of it is like opening up scars from like the last 10, 12 years.
1:12:04
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, oh, yeah, you're doing fucking white guys.
1:12:06
[SPEAKER_04]: Don't know how to dance jokes.
1:12:07
[SPEAKER_04]: You fucking hack, like, you know what I'm saying?
1:12:10
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
1:12:10
[SPEAKER_04]: Now, I gotta go the other way and be like, you know, you know, say something that's edgy, but I'm doing it specifically to piss the person off, which is really the antithesis of what comedy.
1:12:24
[SPEAKER_04]: When we see the person, you mean the comedian in the movie?
1:12:26
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm speaking completely over the crowd to the back of the room.
1:12:30
[SPEAKER_04]: Can't do it.
1:12:31
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
1:12:33
[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, hey, we had a lot today.
1:12:35
[SPEAKER_06]: We learned a lot.
1:12:35
[SPEAKER_04]: I scratched the edge and then I get back to my set, but I just can't not do it.
1:12:40
[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
1:12:41
[SPEAKER_04]: There was a dude I was doing a show in Fort Lauderdale.
1:12:45
[SPEAKER_04]: And there was a guy he's kind of famous and he dropped in, right?
1:12:50
[SPEAKER_04]: And the promoter was like, hey, do you mind if this dude drops in?
1:12:52
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, yeah, sure, whatever, I'm okay.
1:12:54
[SPEAKER_04]: And he rips like 40 fucking minutes first of all no before I go up and I'm now I'm like I I'm texting the I'm getting the show no okay And I'm texting the guy running the show and I'm like should I leave or is this dude cut in a special?
1:13:09
[SPEAKER_04]: What's going on?
1:13:10
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he's like oh, I'm sorry blah blah blah
1:13:12
[SPEAKER_04]: because he wasn't hitting with the crowd because it was my audience.
1:13:15
[SPEAKER_04]: And he's a guy from New York, he lives in LA, he's doing this, you know, left-wing white people with the worst men suck thing, and the crowd's dying.
1:13:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Now he's starting to turn on my audience and I'm like, brother, get off the stage.
1:13:26
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
1:13:27
[SPEAKER_04]: And now the first thing I get up is I get on and I was like, if I were going to hear it.
1:13:30
[SPEAKER_04]: I was like we're in Fort Lauderdale and it's my own and so I was like if I wanted to hear a Faggot tell hack jokes about the state of New York and all right guys and I hear him and I was like what did he just say?
1:13:39
[SPEAKER_04]: I was like that's why you're fucking going on in front of me fucking jerk off And that's the first two things I said from the stage.
1:13:46
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and you know like that's not comedy now I think out of was my audience my I was like yeah fucking get them but like
1:13:53
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sitting here the whole time and not even thinking about entertaining the people.
1:13:57
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, I want to fucking make this dude quit.
1:14:01
[SPEAKER_04]: I want to use my time to make sure he knows never to fucking look me in the eyes ever again.
1:14:07
[SPEAKER_04]: I can't believe you had the fucking audacity to do that.
1:14:10
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that.
1:14:11
[SPEAKER_04]: Well.
1:14:12
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but, you know, I am as the good Lord made me Ross, I'm trying to be better.
1:14:19
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like Russell Brand, you know, I act like I'm contrite, but I'm actually bragging the whole time, right?
1:14:24
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I know it was bad when I was buying the 17 strippers at the same time.
1:14:29
[SPEAKER_02]: And I know that I said that I had sex with everyone in London and I got awards for it.
1:14:33
[SPEAKER_02]: But that was a bad thing for me so when I realized I was just serving me loins and not me Lord.
1:14:38
[SPEAKER_02]: So now I'm a Christian yet.
1:14:40
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't feel- Is that your best Russell Brand?
1:14:42
[SPEAKER_04]: That's just bad as good as I can do.
1:14:43
[SPEAKER_04]: That's good.
1:14:43
[SPEAKER_02]: That's good enough.
1:14:44
[SPEAKER_02]: It's good for me, though.
1:14:45
[SPEAKER_04]: But I think it's like, I don't think you're sorry at all.
1:14:48
[SPEAKER_04]: I think you're bragging.
1:14:49
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
1:14:49
[SPEAKER_04]: You know?
1:14:50
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I don't- Why the only one that feels that way?
1:14:52
[SPEAKER_06]: I like- I can't figure him out, so I- I've him, I've- I've- I've never touched on because I don't know.
1:14:59
[SPEAKER_06]: Um, and my experience with him was one night.
1:15:03
[SPEAKER_06]: Just one thing, I got, uh, invited for- for getting sort of martial premiere.
1:15:07
[SPEAKER_06]: from now on.
1:15:08
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh my god.
1:15:09
[SPEAKER_06]: Totally.
1:15:09
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe.
1:15:11
[SPEAKER_06]: And I mean.
1:15:12
[SPEAKER_06]: I think we're promoting accepted or something.
1:15:14
[SPEAKER_06]: They sent the answer to other premieres to do shit or whatever it was, right?
1:15:17
[SPEAKER_06]: And I didn't know anything about it.
1:15:19
[SPEAKER_06]: All I knew was Jason Seagull and I was like, very cool.
1:15:22
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, and sitting there in the audience, and it's incredible, but then Russell Brand comes on screen.
1:15:27
[SPEAKER_06]: and I mean, people erupts in the fucking premiere.
1:15:30
[SPEAKER_06]: So this is before the rest of the world sees it.
1:15:32
[SPEAKER_06]: And you're looking at this guy and you're like, that guy's gonna be a fucking rock star.
1:15:36
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, well, I think he already was.
1:15:37
[SPEAKER_04]: He was already overseas.
1:15:38
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
1:15:39
[SPEAKER_04]: Right, right, but not here.
1:15:40
[SPEAKER_06]: So like, I think we didn't know, and I didn't know anything about him.
1:15:43
[SPEAKER_06]: He had hosted the MTV VMAs afterwards.
1:15:46
[SPEAKER_06]: Was that after?
1:15:47
[SPEAKER_06]: Yep.
1:15:47
[SPEAKER_06]: It was right afterwards, because, and still Bob, with only one movie under his belt to host the MTV,
1:15:53
[SPEAKER_06]: VMAs.
1:15:55
[SPEAKER_06]: It's a big fucking deal.
1:15:56
[SPEAKER_06]: That's how amazing he was in that that movie that exploded and I Watch him.
1:16:02
[SPEAKER_06]: Here's the hilarious part because you you see these guys in the way in on the red carpet And then you go you there's literally your inner theater so you get popcorn candy whatever you want soda
1:16:12
[SPEAKER_06]: go to your seats.
1:16:14
[SPEAKER_06]: And this guy, is I don't read carpets trying to get, you know, people to notice him, shit, why'd open the whole fucking shit.
1:16:21
[SPEAKER_06]: It was like, I don't know.
1:16:22
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know the fuck you ever, right?
1:16:24
[SPEAKER_06]: I get it to tell now.
1:16:26
[SPEAKER_04]: And that was over here, Russell branding.
1:16:28
[SPEAKER_06]: I know.
1:16:29
[SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, nobody knew who this guy was and I was like, and I remember thinking on the way and I was like,
1:16:33
[SPEAKER_06]: the fuck is this guy like and it was all like jangly chains and fucking wide open shirt and here like you just woke up and uh any atmosphere on those crazy shit and I was like I didn't know because I didn't see the movie yet and then I go in and I watched the movie
1:16:50
[SPEAKER_06]: And you're watching this guy on screen right in front of you become a mega star and you're just like, holy fuck.
1:16:57
[SPEAKER_06]: And the rest of the world doesn't know it yet, right?
1:16:59
[SPEAKER_06]: Now cuts the after party after party dude.
1:17:03
[SPEAKER_06]: All those people that were in the premiere, and it was like, I don't know, 500 people there, whatever.
1:17:07
[SPEAKER_06]: It wasn't Jason Seagull that was surrounding.
1:17:09
[SPEAKER_06]: It was Russell Brands table and he became Russell Brand that night and you were like, oh, shit.
1:17:13
[SPEAKER_06]: This is going to be a fucking out of control.
1:17:15
[SPEAKER_06]: Now, he,
1:17:17
[SPEAKER_03]: Just embraced it and was just like fucking, that's God, that's have a party and it was like awesome man That's what you should do But I don't know who the real person is I spent my 20s having sex with every super more early in the UK and it was ostentatious and pretentious And it was not serviceable to anything that was making me so better But now I'm a Christian man, and I and I still sin from time to time But the Lord accepts me back in and I don't even mind it
1:17:44
[SPEAKER_06]: I look, I'm with you, and all I remember is the Katy Perry wheelchair porn thing.
1:17:50
[SPEAKER_06]: I was just like, okay, cool.
1:17:51
[SPEAKER_06]: I was going to let him get off.
1:17:52
[SPEAKER_06]: So, I assume the stories are true because anybody watching Wheelchair porn, that's the last level that can only get you off.
1:18:01
[SPEAKER_06]: Then, chances are you've done some shit, you said you shouldn't shit.
1:18:04
[SPEAKER_04]: This is a hot button topic for porn against an evangelical, you know, they want to let everybody know that you're forgiven and you can't be forgiven.
1:18:11
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't like to get out of jail free cart, man.
1:18:14
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't like to show on Michaels, he's not out of jail, that's a fair point.
1:18:19
[SPEAKER_06]: But he's got three four trials coming up in England right now and what it's basically what way that England is already headed yeah I don't know how they post denying climate change or what Brussels brand yeah oh you don't know this no no I know I know what he did but I think it's okay as long as he again converts to oh well apparently but the court system ain't gonna see that way in England I can tell you that way that that country's gone
1:18:44
[SPEAKER_06]: He'd get easily go to fucking jail like that is one that I'm definitely going to keep my eyes on because freedom of speech There's no longer there and who's a care starmer who said Muslim is the face of England.
1:18:55
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that is that star we we need to embrace it because that's the face of of England now and I was like whoa boy You're about to go on trial over their home boy.
1:19:04
[SPEAKER_06]: So good luck with that And your Christian I'm a born again Christian tell that to whoever that Muslim jury is and have fun So I don't know that's going to shake out for him
1:19:14
[SPEAKER_04]: Wasn't there just a guy who grape the three and a half year old and got like three months or something like that?
1:19:20
[SPEAKER_06]: You got two and a half years two and a half years.
1:19:22
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
1:19:22
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh my god.
1:19:23
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah.
1:19:24
[SPEAKER_06]: And it was one of those leftist judges.
1:19:25
[SPEAKER_06]: I was here.
1:19:25
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
1:19:26
[SPEAKER_06]: Sorry.
1:19:27
[SPEAKER_06]: There.
1:19:27
[SPEAKER_06]: It was there.
1:19:28
[SPEAKER_06]: And there was another one that was similar here.
1:19:30
[SPEAKER_06]: But he fucking killed somebody and even get the death, death sentence.
1:19:34
[SPEAKER_06]: And all this shit is changing depending upon what city you're in.
1:19:38
[SPEAKER_06]: He's going back to London for that trial.
1:19:39
[SPEAKER_06]: And that city is going to be important for what he's about to go through.
1:19:42
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah.
1:19:43
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, just keep an eye on him, so I'm saying, but in the future, the fucking thing that I've always lived and died by was like, if you started off as one person, you can completely change whoever the fucking person is.
1:19:55
[SPEAKER_06]: Dude, I don't think the audience will ever go along with you.
1:19:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:19:57
[SPEAKER_06]: I've been a dirt bag for 26 years now, so it's like, cool.
1:20:00
[SPEAKER_06]: I never changed.
1:20:00
[SPEAKER_01]: They trust you.
1:20:02
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I've also never changed.
1:20:03
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, literally never changed.
1:20:05
[SPEAKER_06]: wife will probably say that's a bad thing, but uh... audience wise you know what you're getting every day when you show up yes and consistency is the fucking key no matter what business you're in i don't give a fuck if you're uh... you know blame some men somewhere like as long as you're for your laying it consistent you'll keep getting the next job the next job and uh... that is something i never fucking changed
1:20:29
[SPEAKER_06]: Where's all these other people?
1:20:30
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, the porn again shit and everything else.
1:20:32
[SPEAKER_06]: It's like cool man We know you used to be like, I don't know how you get that off your mind But it is what it is same with Michael Jackson or something like that.
1:20:41
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah I think you can evolve and I think your audience evolves with you like staying true to yourself 100% being authentic But you know George Harlem started as the hippie to be weatherman
1:20:50
[SPEAKER_04]: And when your audience is 18 years old and smoke and weed, that's cool.
1:20:54
[SPEAKER_04]: But then 30 years later, you know, your audience is 40.
1:20:59
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
1:21:00
[SPEAKER_04]: Totally.
1:21:00
[SPEAKER_06]: And that's why we've done, you know, more political shit where it's just like, but also on a daily show, that's what's eating up the headlines and news and all this so they're shit and because there's no television shows or sign-felt or whatever, so it's a kind of sit-around the water cooler and talk about, but he wants to talk about politics.
1:21:17
[SPEAKER_06]: So,
1:21:18
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's changed over the years.
1:21:21
[SPEAKER_06]: But either way, man, I'm grateful you guys are here.
1:21:24
[SPEAKER_06]: Like I said, this is our last week in Austin and Austin comedians and people who come in here and travel all the time.
1:21:30
[SPEAKER_06]: Always been amazing guests on the show and everything else and we root for you guys because
1:21:37
[SPEAKER_06]: It's hard and there's not a lot of money and you got to make it through a certain level to a fucking survive and eat and put food on the table So we try to help out whoever we can occasionally get shipped in the audience of like I want full comedies coming to the show I don't really give a fuck like hey dude everybody's trying to work and eat and if we can introduce you to somebody rad
1:21:56
[SPEAKER_06]: Then you love us, you know fuck dude case you rock it all those other guys who've been through you're like I cool man, what's just a show with JP seers yesterday and I told you he's been on the podcast a million Tell them that you guys were leaving and he was genuinely upset it goes that's an Austin institution.
1:22:10
[SPEAKER_06]: I know yeah, well
1:22:12
[SPEAKER_06]: They made us in Austin Institution.
1:22:14
[SPEAKER_06]: So it was Joe and everybody else who moved here and all that other stuff.
1:22:18
[SPEAKER_06]: And then we would have JP on or whoever was cool and we thought was cool or whatever.
1:22:23
[SPEAKER_06]: And but now after, you know, 2003 and our episodes were the fuck, it's been in 11 years.
1:22:31
[SPEAKER_06]: Like we've learned that we are not a guest to pen to show.
1:22:34
[SPEAKER_06]: Like luckily, because that's the kiss of death.
1:22:38
[SPEAKER_06]: you got to wait for a celebrity to come in or something like that like holy shit yeah then you're entertainment tonight well not only that but average celebrity's legs oh you're there all fucking day yeah good point yeah there's been some days where it was one day we sat around all day no one no one showed up so it was like okay cool man what do we do here
1:22:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Where are y'all moving?
1:22:58
[SPEAKER_06]: It was somebody else's fault.
1:23:00
[SPEAKER_06]: Hard to have a self-served took off.
1:23:01
[SPEAKER_06]: We get a deal with Circle K in the southeast.
1:23:04
[SPEAKER_06]: We keep flying back southeast.
1:23:06
[SPEAKER_06]: And we're in a lot of schools in the big tent in the SEC.
1:23:09
[SPEAKER_06]: Dan and I are in flights every single fucking weekend.
1:23:13
[SPEAKER_06]: And it gets exhausting at a certain point.
1:23:14
[SPEAKER_06]: I asked him, shit, a week ago on the show, I go, dude, how do you do?
1:23:19
[SPEAKER_06]: He did 280 days last year.
1:23:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Now he's 186.
1:23:22
[SPEAKER_06]: He's single.
1:23:23
[SPEAKER_06]: He's single, and I've got wife and kids.
1:23:27
[SPEAKER_06]: about to have done some more path.
1:23:29
[SPEAKER_06]: And I just said, hey, dude, I, like, I'm going to miss their lives.
1:23:33
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't want to do that.
1:23:35
[SPEAKER_06]: And luckily,
1:23:36
[SPEAKER_06]: The audience doesn't give a shit who the guest is.
1:23:38
[SPEAKER_06]: So it's like, okay, cool, great.
1:23:40
[SPEAKER_06]: All the ratings do the same, essentially.
1:23:42
[SPEAKER_06]: But for you, I don't know how old you are in real life.
1:23:46
[SPEAKER_06]: How about 30, nine?
1:23:48
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm assuming you want to get married and have kids in all of this.
1:23:50
[SPEAKER_04]: Sure, yeah.
1:23:51
[SPEAKER_06]: So two, two a girl.
1:23:53
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, hopefully, right?
1:23:54
[SPEAKER_04]: That's a good idea.
1:23:55
[SPEAKER_06]: What about the black trans quadriplegic from the Matt Gallo, the other night?
1:24:00
[SPEAKER_06]: It'd be better for my career.
1:24:01
[SPEAKER_06]: She, yeah.
1:24:02
[SPEAKER_06]: She puts out because she has, too, like she doesn't have much choice.
1:24:06
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, that's quite a collegiate.
1:24:08
[SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, being bring up that full fucking bra in the big grades.
1:24:12
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, this, because she gave a, you see, she gave a speech afterwards, but I was unaware of this.
1:24:17
[SPEAKER_06]: Did not see that.
1:24:18
[SPEAKER_06]: Please play the speech.
1:24:19
[SPEAKER_06]: Yep, play this video first and play the speech.
1:24:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
1:24:22
[SPEAKER_06]: And then that'll be the end of our show.
1:24:23
[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see you.
1:24:24
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I find a boss that she and actress, she is a model.
1:24:28
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
1:24:29
[SPEAKER_06]: A model for what?
1:24:30
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
1:24:32
[SPEAKER_06]: Now, look up her interview, what's her name, Mason?
1:24:35
[SPEAKER_06]: That's it.
1:24:37
[SPEAKER_06]: Was I close with Mason?
1:24:39
[SPEAKER_10]: Not really.
1:24:41
[SPEAKER_06]: I just picked a fucking name out of thin air, said, hey, are we good here?
1:24:46
[SPEAKER_06]: There we go, that's it.
1:24:47
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
1:24:48
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
1:24:48
[SPEAKER_06]: And one of those two.
1:24:49
[SPEAKER_06]: All right.
1:24:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:24:51
[SPEAKER_00]: When I first started working, I wasn't anomaly to the industry.
1:24:56
[SPEAKER_00]: All you were bullying in many ways today, really, I still amned.
1:25:00
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's time to see the choir part out loud.
1:25:03
[SPEAKER_00]: The fashion industry is unlikely to book or pay Black Transfeminine and or physically disabled models to do runway, editorial, and or campaign because of an absence of whiteness.
1:25:22
[SPEAKER_06]: There you go.
1:25:24
[SPEAKER_06]: There you go, Gerard.
1:25:25
[SPEAKER_06]: Donna, you, and by the way, you're welcome for this tonight's tonight's tee-up.
1:25:29
[SPEAKER_06]: You can, you can use that tonight's.
1:25:31
[SPEAKER_04]: Donna, your father did three tours of Vietnam for, for that woman to not walk the runway.
1:25:37
[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, there you go.
1:25:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank God he's dead.
1:25:39
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, right?
1:25:40
[SPEAKER_07]: Well, he was, well, he was, well, he was fucking brilliant, right now.
1:25:42
[SPEAKER_07]: He didn't have that father to think watching that, right?
1:25:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, my dad would just see things that upset him and he would always have a cigarette in his hand because he gave smoke three packs a day and he would just look at me and go, God, damn it.
1:25:53
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
1:25:54
[SPEAKER_01]: And just keep smoking and walk away.
1:25:56
[SPEAKER_01]: That's, he was responsible.
1:25:57
[SPEAKER_06]: I had dinner with my stepdad for his birthday the night in North Carolina because I was in for like two days.
1:26:02
[SPEAKER_06]: And went out to dinner and, you know, simple dude.
1:26:05
[SPEAKER_06]: He's just like, hey, I want to go to a movie.
1:26:07
[SPEAKER_06]: I want to go to this barbecue place.
1:26:08
[SPEAKER_06]: Great.
1:26:09
[SPEAKER_06]: It saves my wallet.
1:26:10
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm down.
1:26:11
[SPEAKER_06]: Right?
1:26:12
[SPEAKER_06]: And I'm sitting there and I go, you know, he's 74.
1:26:15
[SPEAKER_06]: And I go, do you ever think you get to 74 and he goes, you know, my, my is six brothers.
1:26:21
[SPEAKER_06]: They're all dead.
1:26:22
[SPEAKER_06]: He was the youngest of them and he goes, you know, most of them, 73 is, like, the longest because only one made it to 80 and he was going to be a non-bet, it was my uncle.
1:26:30
[SPEAKER_06]: And I just look at him and I go, well, it's shit that's going on in the world today.
1:26:37
[SPEAKER_06]: politics, this is property taxes, all these price jackups for no reason.
1:26:41
[SPEAKER_06]: It doesn't matter who we vote for or whatever, I go, how do you feel about all this stuff?
1:26:46
[SPEAKER_06]: Are you excited to keep going and, you know, hey, to 80, you know, 90, whatever it is, and he just goes, nah, I'm good, good, I was like, what?
1:26:56
[SPEAKER_06]: And he goes, yeah, yeah, I mean, I just, I don't even know how to describe this anymore.
1:27:02
[SPEAKER_06]: And this clip we just played is part of the reason.
1:27:06
[SPEAKER_06]: 50 years ago there's he would have been that would have been an alien and that goddamn chair who just landed on earth and said hey dude this is who I am and why aren't we fighting for this?
1:27:17
[SPEAKER_06]: fighting for what?
1:27:19
[SPEAKER_06]: A model?
1:27:20
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm sorry, as she goes, I'm gonna say the quiet part out loud.
1:27:23
[SPEAKER_06]: They're fucking not letting us be in fashion.
1:27:25
[SPEAKER_06]: You have to walk.
1:27:27
[SPEAKER_06]: It's called a runway.
1:27:28
[SPEAKER_06]: But you ain't got no legs, you can't get in there.
1:27:32
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
1:27:33
[SPEAKER_07]: How you gonna walk the roadway without the use of your legs, you can't get in there.
1:27:37
[SPEAKER_06]: It's not a rollway.
1:27:39
[SPEAKER_06]: It's a runway.
1:27:40
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, you are using your legs.
1:27:43
[SPEAKER_04]: They're the biggest.
1:27:45
[SPEAKER_04]: They are the biggest hype men for white people of all time.
1:27:49
[SPEAKER_04]: And they say, it's the absence of whiteness.
1:27:52
[SPEAKER_04]: Like what does whiteness mean in this regard?
1:27:53
[SPEAKER_04]: Being capable and being pretty, being able to walk?
1:27:56
[SPEAKER_04]: Why are you a quadriplegic?
1:27:58
[SPEAKER_06]: Did you get hit by a white man like this?
1:28:00
[SPEAKER_06]: And that, that I can understand.
1:28:02
[SPEAKER_06]: Stan's like, yeah, great.
1:28:04
[SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, dude, it was probably dawn of the way she drives beyond the position.
1:28:07
[SPEAKER_06]: She should be careful.
1:28:08
[SPEAKER_04]: He's Asian.
1:28:08
[SPEAKER_06]: Asian driving.
1:28:09
[SPEAKER_06]: And a female.
1:28:10
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, God.
1:28:11
[SPEAKER_06]: Hello.
1:28:11
[SPEAKER_06]: Just strike one, strike two.
1:28:13
[SPEAKER_06]: Are you voting in America too?
1:28:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Am I voting?
1:28:16
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
1:28:16
[SPEAKER_06]: I try not to.
1:28:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I do.
1:28:18
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
1:28:19
[SPEAKER_06]: Strike three.
1:28:20
[SPEAKER_06]: Women should not be doing that either.
1:28:21
[SPEAKER_06]: Like dragon voting.
1:28:22
[SPEAKER_06]: Talking.
1:28:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
1:28:23
[SPEAKER_04]: You don't want the Muslims to take over.
1:28:25
[SPEAKER_04]: There's a real simple solution for all this man.
1:28:28
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh.
1:28:28
[SPEAKER_06]: You should re-all this place up.
1:28:30
[SPEAKER_06]: And I almost feel like.
1:28:32
[SPEAKER_06]: with all these women in the last year who want to do this shit.
1:28:34
[SPEAKER_06]: It's like it's almost like they want it.
1:28:36
[SPEAKER_06]: Go for it.
1:28:36
[SPEAKER_06]: Like they're like dude, I want that back here.
1:28:38
[SPEAKER_06]: They're fucking bad.
1:28:39
[SPEAKER_12]: They yearn for the belt.
1:28:40
[SPEAKER_12]: They do.
1:28:41
[SPEAKER_12]: They miss the belt.
1:28:42
[SPEAKER_12]: I think that's it.
1:28:43
[SPEAKER_12]: They yearn for it.
1:28:44
[SPEAKER_06]: They're like, not dammit.
1:28:46
[SPEAKER_06]: How did my father treat me when I was, when I was a kid?
1:28:48
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, that was bad.
1:28:49
[SPEAKER_06]: I got hit.
1:28:50
[SPEAKER_06]: Shit.
1:28:50
[SPEAKER_06]: How can I go back to that?
1:28:52
[SPEAKER_06]: I know.
1:28:53
[SPEAKER_06]: If I become a Muslim, fuck yeah, dude.
1:28:55
[SPEAKER_06]: Don't beat the shit out of me, dude.
1:28:58
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, don't beat the shit out of me, let's go.
1:29:03
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't have to show ankle ever again, fucking yeah, they'll beat the hell out of me and get raped whenever I want All right cool, maybe that's what I want who knows.
1:29:12
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what people aren't to we don't kink shame on the show We never haven't ever will we do do is the drink and bro the week Which is someone who has inspired you or helps you become the person you are today Droid's been on a million times.

[SPEAKER_06]: He doesn't get to give it anymore.
1:29:22
[SPEAKER_06]: No fuck off to rug Nice goes to Donnelly
1:29:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Donna Rhee is Donna Rhee if you're Asian.
1:29:28
[SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
1:29:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Or Gerard.
1:29:30
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
1:29:31
[SPEAKER_06]: So Donna, who is somebody that inspired you or helps you become the person you are today?
1:29:36
[SPEAKER_06]: Is there have to be somebody famous?
1:29:38
[SPEAKER_06]: No.
1:29:38
[SPEAKER_06]: Anybody in your life.
1:29:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
1:29:41
[SPEAKER_06]: They're talking about your dad, Vietnam.
1:29:43
[SPEAKER_01]: My dad, y'all.
1:29:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
1:29:46
[SPEAKER_06]: Something happened there.
1:29:47
[SPEAKER_01]: We have this very difficult relationship.
1:29:49
[SPEAKER_06]: Probably my wife is in the family dog.
1:29:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
1:29:52
[SPEAKER_06]: Do you guys use it for dinner?
1:29:53
[SPEAKER_06]: I do it.
1:29:54
[SPEAKER_06]: No, we don't do it.
1:29:54
[SPEAKER_06]: There is a raven story.
1:29:57
[SPEAKER_06]: You do it.
1:29:58
[SPEAKER_06]: Many pack you out.
1:29:59
[SPEAKER_06]: Had one, too.
1:29:59
[SPEAKER_06]: About his dad.
1:30:00
[SPEAKER_06]: You know, that's why they never talk again.
1:30:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
1:30:02
[SPEAKER_06]: The dog is the family dog.
1:30:03
[SPEAKER_06]: Yep, no.
1:30:04
[SPEAKER_06]: The family dog.
1:30:06
[SPEAKER_06]: So what he says?
1:30:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I was just telling Gerard that my mom cooked up the family rabbit.
1:30:10
[SPEAKER_01]: It was my pet rabbit.
1:30:11
[SPEAKER_06]: There you go.
1:30:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I said fucks.
1:30:13
[SPEAKER_06]: God, you're better and you're smarter than all of us, and I like that about your culture.
1:30:17
[SPEAKER_06]: It actually blends with America.
1:30:19
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, that's when nobody bitches about Asians.
1:30:21
[SPEAKER_06]: You notice that?
1:30:22
[SPEAKER_06]: That's true.
1:30:23
[SPEAKER_06]: Do you notice cops aren't pulling over Asians and fucking blowing them away?
1:30:27
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, they're not.
1:30:28
[SPEAKER_06]: Apparently, it's a way with a lot, man.
1:30:30
[SPEAKER_07]: What Japan did to Korea?
1:30:33
[SPEAKER_07]: China Bob has always been a Japan that back in the day.
1:30:36
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
1:30:37
[SPEAKER_06]: Japan was the one that is like me on that story.
1:30:39
[SPEAKER_07]: He was the one that liked me on that story and I had no idea.
1:30:43
[SPEAKER_04]: Japan did shit that makes the Holocaust look like they can.
1:30:47
[SPEAKER_10]: That's what exactly is said today.
1:30:49
[SPEAKER_04]: They don't know.
1:30:49
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's like, woo, woo.
1:30:51
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's all forgotten, dude.
1:30:52
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean look Asian knows like the Chinese didn't even get but the rest of the world does doesn't give a fuck they were every ounce is bad every ounce yeah Bob told me that's and I didn't know nobody knows I'm not a big yeah history dude so it's not called the consent of main king yeah but I've always said on this show as if it happened before 1960 I'm like eh all right I can kind of move on you know
1:31:17
[SPEAKER_06]: Right, that's my time period of like, it's really all I can care about.
1:31:22
[SPEAKER_06]: Past that, it's like when people talk about reparations and everything else, it was like, go, man, we're looking at like four, five generations ago.
1:31:27
[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not going to do that.
1:31:28
[SPEAKER_04]: I'll send board reparations.
1:31:30
[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
1:31:31
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's do it.
1:31:32
[SPEAKER_04]: We should go conquer all the African nations that rounded up those people and sold them.
1:31:36
[SPEAKER_04]: I am absolutely on board.
1:31:37
[SPEAKER_04]: And for reparations, we should go conquer those nations.
1:31:40
[SPEAKER_04]: I would love to.
1:31:41
[SPEAKER_04]: But with this award, just wipe it off.
1:31:42
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, what?
1:31:42
[SPEAKER_04]: I thought we wanted reparations.
1:31:45
[SPEAKER_04]: That is not a good solution.
1:31:46
[SPEAKER_06]: great.
1:31:47
[SPEAKER_06]: But Donna, who do you want to give Dream Brother Wee so it's not your dad who cooked up your family rabbit.
1:31:51
[SPEAKER_01]: No, my mom cooked the family rabbit.
1:31:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Jesus Christ.
1:31:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my my my Asian mom, I came home one day and I said, what happened to Thumper?
1:31:57
[SPEAKER_01]: She said, Oh, Thumper get away.
1:31:58
[SPEAKER_01]: He run away to on the grass.
1:32:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, what?
1:32:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And then years later, she admitted that she ate eight Thumper.
1:32:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I hadn't like 10 years.
1:32:05
[SPEAKER_01]: It was very wow.
1:32:07
[SPEAKER_06]: That's a hard one man.
1:32:09
[SPEAKER_01]: It was 10 years.
1:32:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
1:32:11
[SPEAKER_01]: But my dad didn't bring home the pig and told me not to get it close to the pig.
1:32:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Because we're going to cook this pig in a few months.
1:32:16
[SPEAKER_01]: But of course, I was in only child in the middle of nowhere in Lockhart, Texas.
1:32:20
[SPEAKER_06]: And I got that's actually very common though here.
1:32:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the pig thing is more common in the rabbit.
1:32:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
1:32:26
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm so excited to answer this question.
1:32:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Personally, we my son has changed my life because he's fantastic.
1:32:31
[SPEAKER_01]: And then professionally and Morgan inspired me to come back to comedy.
1:32:35
[SPEAKER_06]: My wife loves her.
1:32:36
[SPEAKER_01]: She's trying to, I opened for her three times and I do this on stage when I know there's a big audience for Lee and Morgan, I'll say, well, who knows Lee and Morgan and people go crazy and I say, well, a long time ago when I was doing comedy and I opened for her, she would say, don't only in your tiny little breaches, don't ever quit comedy because this is our thing.
1:32:52
[SPEAKER_01]: We had there's an audience out there for us, don't ever quit.
1:32:55
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I quit because she was making money and I wasn't, but then coming back in, she's fantastic.
1:33:01
[SPEAKER_06]: She liked it in real life.
1:33:02
[SPEAKER_01]: She as I saw her recently after her one of her shows, and she remembered things she told that we talked about 18 years ago.
1:33:07
[SPEAKER_01]: She remembered my son.
1:33:08
[SPEAKER_01]: She remembered I went through a divorce.
1:33:09
[SPEAKER_01]: She remembered fans and everything.
1:33:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's that genuine and that amazing.
1:33:13
[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
1:33:14
[SPEAKER_06]: That's good to hear.
1:33:14
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, my wife loves her, and you never know.
1:33:16
[SPEAKER_06]: It's hitting me.
1:33:17
[SPEAKER_06]: And to be good, met most of the people.
1:33:19
[SPEAKER_06]: I know nothing about her whatsoever.
1:33:21
[SPEAKER_06]: She came out of nowhere.
1:33:22
[SPEAKER_06]: What was her thing?
1:33:23
[SPEAKER_01]: She was doing comedy for 25 years and just about to quit.
1:33:26
[SPEAKER_01]: She went to her husband and said, I think this isn't going anyway.
1:33:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I've been traveling the country for 25 years, headlining, but not really getting anywhere.
1:33:33
[SPEAKER_01]: And she as she puts it, some little precious boy that was handle in my social media, put up this bit that I did about it going to see, uh, journey, or no death leopard.
1:33:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
1:33:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And as she said, everybody's standing up and we're like, whoa.
1:33:45
[SPEAKER_01]: But we're so also old and our knees hurt and our hips hurt and but that she acts out this whole scene of going to see Def Leppard with everybody her age and that went viral and within two weeks She said within two weeks her entire life changed and she was uberving no fucking way Bert said that about the machine story and Deborah Kretcher, and I was just like and I remember seeing it on the internet and I was just like Holy shit.
1:34:07
[SPEAKER_06]: That's got a lot of views.
1:34:08
[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
1:34:08
[SPEAKER_06]: I just didn't think anything about it after that and then
1:34:11
[SPEAKER_06]: you know, you take off right and you don't know what it's going to be the industry out of for a long time.
1:34:16
[SPEAKER_06]: I his his wife was my landlord was I really yeah and so that was one of the first people in that no way well you know they stole van wilder from it he didn't steal it he he got paid for it he got paid for it yeah yeah okay they bought it off so it was in a rolling stone and that's where it was and then they bought it off of them so he's fine on that okay but
1:34:37
[SPEAKER_06]: He was doing all kinds of weird discovery, channel shows, and some other shit, and just trying to put food on the table.
1:34:45
[SPEAKER_06]: And it just doesn't pay.
1:34:47
[SPEAKER_06]: People see these shows, and they think everybody's rich, and like discovery, or whatever, and it's like, yeah.
1:34:51
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it gets to like your six or seven to really make some money there.
1:34:54
[SPEAKER_06]: But, and then, you know, he told the story on Rogan, how Rogan said, hey, you got a stretcher and stand up and get stuff doing the shit.
1:35:00
[SPEAKER_06]: He's like, I got a feed, kids and everything else.
1:35:03
[SPEAKER_06]: You're going to listen to his show for that.
1:35:04
[SPEAKER_06]: But, yeah, he was one of my first friends in Los Angeles.
1:35:08
[SPEAKER_06]: And so, and then when I went in for this application, his wife was there and I was like, hey,
1:35:13
[SPEAKER_06]: She goes, you know, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes
1:35:41
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and I had never known this when they stopped giving the chemo therapy medication to the AIDS patients, they the AIDS patients all stopped dying, according to him.
1:35:54
[SPEAKER_04]: I, that was that was a, that was a, well, he was, well, he was using it as a premise to get into something else about the Fauci, but,
1:36:02
[SPEAKER_04]: The Dallas buyers club whole thing the bad guy and that is Anthony Fauci, but apparently they're well I didn't know that.
1:36:07
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, the bad guy and the Dallas buyers club is Anthony Fauci I didn't know that either.
1:36:11
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, now I'm gonna go back and watch the good That was just a movie that he's the master bait to now
1:36:17
[SPEAKER_06]: And that's a lot.
1:36:18
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but Fauci.
1:36:20
[SPEAKER_04]: Funny me too.
1:36:20
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
1:36:21
[SPEAKER_04]: The whole AIDS thing, like these guys, they were taking the medication, but it was already approved for chemotherapy.
1:36:31
[SPEAKER_04]: So they didn't have to go through all these FDA trials and all this stuff.
1:36:33
[SPEAKER_04]: So Fauci just kind of fast-tracked that they made them.
1:36:35
[SPEAKER_04]: buttload of money on this stuff and as soon as they stopped giving that medication I don't know what the TZA I don't I don't know what it's called but once they stopped giving the medication the that's when you start seeing all the the AIDS deaths just plummet drop off and now you know when I was a kid when I was younger there was a you know after it happened magic Johnson and like there was a PSA all the time like AIDS and you know well safe sex and drug use
1:37:00
[SPEAKER_04]: Nobody even talks about it anymore.
1:37:02
[SPEAKER_06]: Like nobody, like, if you're rich enough, you can beat it.
1:37:04
[SPEAKER_06]: And it doesn't matter for real.
1:37:06
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, the cocktail will beat it.
1:37:08
[SPEAKER_06]: Magic Johnson is so undetectable that I think he went through six blood work exams for them to finally find it again.
1:37:16
[SPEAKER_06]: Or they're just like, oh, man, it's like 0.001 in your system.
1:37:20
[SPEAKER_06]: You're going to live it to your fucking 90.
1:37:22
[SPEAKER_06]: Like a good.
1:37:23
[SPEAKER_06]: So it is possible.
1:37:24
[SPEAKER_06]: And Charlie Sheen is.
1:37:26
[SPEAKER_06]: So I like it's all fine.
1:37:28
[SPEAKER_04]: That was the original thing.
1:37:29
[SPEAKER_04]: He did that the actor with californication.
1:37:32
[SPEAKER_06]: Who's that guy?
1:37:33
[SPEAKER_06]: David a company.
1:37:34
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, David a company and they were doing a podcast and I guess you know, obviously they're both recovering addicts And the company in front of the whole crowd is like asking him what his biggest regret is and he goes on this tattoo
1:37:46
[SPEAKER_04]: And David a couple you're biggest for that is a tattoo.
1:37:49
[SPEAKER_04]: He goes, yes, it's such a pain in the ass.
1:37:51
[SPEAKER_04]: It's also harder to remove Like people would think all I want to see is he goes, he's on just take a pill.
1:37:55
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm fine.
1:37:56
[SPEAKER_06]: Yep That's the tattoo and like to cover these like I did not expect that answer No, whatever you think we're seeing is the opposite and he doesn't shy away from any of it He's just like, and then I got my dick sucked by this guy and whatever and then like to you regret that and he goes
1:38:12
[SPEAKER_06]: That was an experience.
1:38:13
[SPEAKER_04]: And I flip the menu over.
1:38:15
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's it.
1:38:15
[SPEAKER_04]: I flip the menu over.
1:38:17
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
1:38:18
[SPEAKER_04]: I was running so much testosterone.
1:38:20
[SPEAKER_04]: It made me gay.
1:38:22
[SPEAKER_04]: What?
1:38:22
[SPEAKER_04]: That's amazing.
1:38:23
[SPEAKER_06]: And then, Donna, you brought a bottle of booze for us and some cookies.
1:38:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I did a very fancy bottle of booze.
1:38:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
1:38:30
[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
1:38:31
[SPEAKER_06]: And I'd say, well, I'll take a shot live on here here and close this out.
1:38:35
[SPEAKER_06]: And I'll take a cookie.
1:38:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I have cookies every audience will understand that.
1:38:42
[SPEAKER_06]: What a great mom you are.
1:38:44
[SPEAKER_06]: You got.
1:38:44
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, I've been messing so I can do this for your older child.
1:38:47
[SPEAKER_06]: And then cookies for your younger child.
1:38:50
[SPEAKER_06]: I like it.
1:38:51
[SPEAKER_07]: Donna, you're cookies are so good.
1:38:56
[SPEAKER_01]: That would be the thing I have at home.
1:38:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I was in H-D.
1:39:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to do more.
1:39:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I have H-B stickers at home, so I put them on all the containers.
1:39:04
[SPEAKER_04]: Nobody got that reference, and that makes me feel very old for you.
1:39:08
[SPEAKER_06]: What is this?
1:39:09
[SPEAKER_06]: This is very good, by the way.
1:39:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
1:39:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I just thought the bottle was pretty.
1:39:12
