- 1:08theresa: Mackenzie, welcome.
- 1:10theresa: Thank you for joining me.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Thank you for having me.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I'm very excited to chat with you.
- 1:16theresa: Yeah, this is awesome.
- 1:18theresa: So you basically, your, part of your story is the burnout.
- 1:22theresa: Tell us about that.
- 1:23theresa: Strive, all that stuff that goes with it
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Uh, I went from being a woman who thought that I had to do it all- Mm and do it all perfectly to- Mm um, someone who was just burnt out, exhausted, um, full of anxiety.
- 1:47theresa: Mm.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Uh, it was just not a great place to be.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 2: And, um, I realized that my only real path out of kind of that dark place was to lean into my faith and- Mm um, make some pretty big changes in my life so that I could, um, be a better mom, a better wife, and a better business owner.
- 2:13theresa: Take me through that journey of when you, once when you realized,"This has got to stop," and what were the steps you took to kind of get out of that whirlwind of feeling stuck, anxiety, you know the whole thing.
- 2:25theresa: We all know it.
- 2:26theresa: We're just lying if we say we don't.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yes, that's so true, so true.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Well, uh, my story unfortunately is, um, definitely a sad one.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Um, I- Mm was a woman who was, uh, like I said, kind of burning the candle at all ends, um, at all times, and, um, uh, very unexpectedly found myself pregnant with my, um, fourth child, uh, at the beginning of 2020.
- 2:57Speaker 2: And, um, unfortunately had a pretty, uh, horrific miscarriage at about- Oh, I'm sorry 10 weeks.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Um, yeah, I, uh, I ended up having some complications and, um, it was just, uh, it was one of those moments where you kind of go,"Okay, I cannot continue on this path," um- Mm both physically and mentally, um, if I, you know, if I want to, um, have a, a healthy and fulfilling life.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Um, and, uh, the first thing for me was, um, because I had some physical limitations, um, pretty, you know, I- Mm I ended up almost, I was like right on the edge of needing a blood transfusion.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And, um- Wow so I just, I just really didn't feel good for months, um, because my body was obviously recovering, and it forced me to have to slow down.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Um, but the, the truly difficult part of that was, um, I had done such a great job the last six years prior of building up my business, and so it was something where I couldn't really stop the train from moving.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Like, it, it's not like I could just- Put everything down and, and really rest how I needed to.
- 4:26theresa: Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 2: And so it really forced me to look at how do I add leverage, um- Mm to my business in order, um, to keep that train moving, and yet be able to recover in the way that I needed to.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:44Speaker 2: So, um, that was really kind of the start of this, uh, transformation into like, gosh, how, how do I stop being so stressed out so that I can get better physically?
- 4:59Speaker 2: Um, and, and a lot of it came down to just, you know, these small things of like saying,"I don't have to carry all of this.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I can ask other people to help me."
- 5:08theresa: Mm.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I can hire other people to help me.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I can, um, ask my husband to help me when it's something that-" Yeah you know, I just really can't put on my plate at that time.
- 5:19Speaker 2: And so yeah, it was a lot of just baby steps in that direction.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:23theresa: Takes a lot of maturity in a person to realize, hey, I can't do it all.
- 5:29theresa: How did your relationship with God help you st- but st- stabilize you through all that?
- 5:36Speaker 2: You know, it was one of those things where, um, I, I would not say that I, uh, was leaning on my faith a whole lot in the, in the early growth of my business.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Um, I was, I was very focused on, um, you know, hiring a business coach and- Mm-hmm you know, I was just, I w- I was, I was very, like, secular in, in how I was growing, right?
- 6:03Speaker 2: Um, and so it, it really kind of forced me to, not only because I wanted to feel better physically, um, you know, I, I- of course, I'm, I'm gonna pray about that.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Um, but- Mm-hmm it kind of forced, it kind of forced me to say,"Okay, I really probably cannot do all of this on my own." Mm-hmm.
- 6:25Speaker 2: And how, uh, you know, if I'm, if I'm talking about leaning into other people, why am I not leaning into God to help me get through this difficult season and figure out- Yeah the best way to end up on the other side of it?
- 6:40Speaker 2: So.
- 6:40theresa: That's good.
- 6:41theresa: So that's very honest, too.
- 6:43theresa: So there is a book about all this.
- 6:46theresa: Why don't you share a little bit about that?
- 6:48theresa: I think that's exciting.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:50theresa: You were able to put that-
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so
- 6:52theresa: Yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 2: It's called The Serenity Solution.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 6:56Speaker 2: It's freedom from control, perfectionism, and the pressure to do it all.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Um- Mm-hmm and really the, the message is if you are a naturally high-achieving woman, um, whether, whether you work or not, whether you are a-
- 7:13theresa: Mm-hmm
- 7:14Speaker 2: a, uh, stay-at-home mom or a business owner of many, you know, uh, we all, uh, naturally high-achieving women kind of like just wanna control everything and take it all on.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 2: And, and, and that's where the burnout happens, and that's- Yeah where the, the unnecessary stress comes from, and feeling anxious all the time, and- Yeah being irritable with our families.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Like all- Yeah of those things usu- Sure ally stem from the fact that we're taking too much on.
- 7:48theresa: Yeah.
- 7:49Speaker 2: So.
- 7:50theresa: You know, we Uh, I think what happens, we moms take so much things on, and then when we try to chill out, my, we might do the Instagram scroll and not realizing you're looking at people who are 15, 20 years into their career, and no.
- 8:07theresa: That, that'll burn you out faster than anything.
- 8:10theresa: So what's your primary offer?
- 8:12theresa: Is it the book?
- 8:16Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Um, so I, I am just kind of at this place where I really felt a calling, um, and honestly, I think, I think God was pretty much knocking me over the head to write this book.
- 8:31Speaker 2: So
- 8:31theresa: cool.
- 8:31theresa: Um,
- 8:32Speaker 2: and, and I just...
- 8:34theresa: That's good.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Um, and so I just know that there are women out there who would benefit from the message, um- Mm-hmm and kind of learn this path to spirit-led living, which is- Mm-hmm ultimately where you get that peace and serenity from.
- 8:50theresa: So good.
- 8:50theresa: You've said,"I believe you can have it all, but you don't have to do it all." Share some of the- Yeah thoughts and the story behind that phrase.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So, um, I, I always lean into this story because it's just something very simple.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 2: And I understand that this might not be for everyone and, and, you know, wherever you are at in your life.
- 9:13Speaker 2: But for me, um, I, I was already fairly successful in my career.
- 9:19theresa: Yeah.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Um, my husband and I were very blessed financially to be doing very well.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 9:24Speaker 2: And I looked at him and I said,"All right, for my sanity, I need to have a professional cleaner come once a month to our house because then at least for a few hours every..." Because we have four kids, you know.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Oof.
- 9:39Speaker 2: At least for a few hours every month- Yeah my house is as perfectly clean as I would like it to be.
- 9:47theresa: Good for you.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Um.
- 9:49theresa: Oh, my gosh.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And so, and so a lot of the, the things in the book are just these, these very small, minute things that you can be doing- Oh, minute, yeah every day that, that, that have a big impact.
- 10:03Speaker 2: And you wanna know what?
- 10:04Speaker 2: I hired my friend to start cleaning our home, and she, I was one of her very first clients, and now she has a multi s- six-figure cleaning business with all of these em- employees and everything like this.
- 10:18Speaker 2: So you don't know, even just by that one small action of hel- honestly, I was helping her as much as she was helping me.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Um, and now both of us, you know, get, reap the benefits from it.
- 10:31Speaker 2: So.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Do
- 10:31theresa: you know, this is gonna sound crazy, but this is what I think happened.
- 10:36theresa: There's anointing on your life and your husband's for kingdom building, for wealth, and y- your friend came in and got a taste of that anointing.
- 10:45theresa: God, the Lord did something, because that's an amazing story.
- 10:48theresa: From your house to now six figures, come on now.
- 10:52theresa: That tells me a lot.
- 10:53theresa: How old are your- Right kids, by chance?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Uh, 18, 16, nine, and five
- 11:00theresa: Good job.
- 11:01theresa: You raised up an 18-year-old.
- 11:02theresa: I have to s- always congratulate someone.
- 11:04theresa: You got an adult in there, but what a handful.
- 11:07theresa: Yes.
- 11:08theresa: So you say you believe you can be a fantastic mother, wife, and an entrepreneur without giving something up.
- 11:18theresa: That's powerful.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:19theresa: Speak to a woman- I, and I- Go ahead.
- 11:22theresa: Go ahead.
- 11:23theresa: I'm sorry.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and I, and I really, and I really do live that every single day.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I have people tell me all of the time, like, I'll run into people at the store, you know, at an event that we have going on, and they will say,"Oh my gosh, I see you on social media doing all of these things, and I just don't know how you do it all." And I'm like,"I don't.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I don't do it all myself." I, I have help in multiple ways, and I've set up Even, even the things that I do do, I'm, I'm very systematized and process- Mm-hmm oriented and, and that's what helps keep the chaos down.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 2: So, um, any, any time I feel super chaotic, it's because I don't have a really great system for something.
- 12:07theresa: Sure.
- 12:07theresa: That is, is smart.
- 12:08theresa: So it here says here you also run a real estate team as well?
- 12:14theresa: Tell us about that.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Yes, that's correct.
- 12:17theresa: That's awesome.
- 12:17theresa: Tell us about that.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:18Speaker 2: So, um, so that...
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's been kind of the start of my entrepreneurship journey.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Um, I, uh, got licensed back in 2014, was a solo agent for several years, started my team in 2019 and, um, so we've been in business now for seven years and I am so blessed and honestly honored that, um, I have the opportunity to now mentor, coach and, um, help train agents- It's true to also make multiple six figures a year.
- 12:52theresa: Yeah.
- 12:52Speaker 2: And I have agents who make, uh, uh, the average agent on our real estate team makes$150,000 a year, and most of those ladies who are on my team just happen to be single moms who are also having- Wow to, you know, operate their lives with systems- Unbelievable and processes and really, and really just kind of run things well.
- 13:15Speaker 2: So, um, and then it kind of blossomed into my husband and I own, um, a, a, a real estate investment business.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Nice.
- 13:23Speaker 2: And then we also three years ago, um, bought a, a small 40 acre farm, um, outside of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
- 13:31Speaker 2: So we have, we have multiple businesses that we're running and, um, it's one of those things where when you get really, really good at another one, that gives you the opportunity to kind of go- Yeah and be creative with something else, so.
- 13:45theresa: I know.
- 13:46theresa: I think you got an anointing for kingdom wealth, girl.
- 13:49theresa: Yeah.
- 13:49theresa: I mean, that is unbelievable.
- 13:50theresa: It's so exciting.
- 13:52theresa: It's so exciting because some people think, oh, you're a Christian, then they think low.
- 13:57theresa: You know, low money, low, beat up cars.
- 14:00theresa: But no, you can shoot.
- 14:02theresa: You can do what you guys are doing.
- 14:03theresa: I, I still think the house, the housekeeper story's gotta be one of the best I've ever heard.
- 14:09theresa: So listen, listen.
- 14:10theresa: How can people get a- You know, I just am really thrilled because I'm all about kingdom wealth, girl.
- 14:16theresa: How can, uh, someone get ahold of you?
- 14:19theresa: Or what, what's, what's an offer or how can they get in touch with you?
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 14:26Speaker 2: So, um, I will send, um, you the link for my book.

- 15:53theresa: So Mackenzie, thank you so much for being with us.
