- 0:10Welcome to Brad's graphers episode.
- 0:16Who knows at this point I will just insert that at a later
- 0:21date. However, this episode we are
- 0:26going to be looking back at Atomic Nuclear Winter free and I
- 0:34am joined by friend of the show Miles Smith.
- 0:39Good evening, Miles. Good evening, happy festivities
- 0:44to everyone. Yeah, we are.
- 0:48We're getting nearer Christmas, which which I hate, but there we
- 0:55go every day. We are slowly building towards
- 1:01December 25th and seeing as we are having a show every single
- 1:08day today show as I say, we are talking about atomic Nuclear
- 1:15Winter free at content in Liverpool.
- 1:23We, well, we'll talk about the overall thing right at the end
- 1:28because that seems more appropriate.
- 1:35Before we go into what happened, was there any matches on this
- 1:41card that you were looking forward to before we got to the
- 1:47results? So I suppose effectively I'm
- 1:50asking was was there any match she was looking forward to
- 1:53beforehand? The main event, there's been a
- 1:57storyline. It's been over a year in the
- 1:59making, so the final bit of that made an event for the title.
- 2:06Yeah, yeah. There was a couple of matches
- 2:11that I was looking forward to the the Lally winter and fierce
- 2:19match. But I think the title match kind
- 2:22of took president over anything else on this card, and with good
- 2:28reason as we will come to later on.
- 2:33So let's start with match #1 which originally was going to be
- 2:412 semi final matches in the eliminate tournament as it
- 2:47should have been. I think it was Chris Ridgeway.
- 2:51And who was was that McCarthy? Who was?
- 2:57AI think it was Ridgeway versus dynamite and Dec versus Jack
- 3:01Johnson or Flip. It might have been the other way
- 3:03round, but yeah, Jack Johnson was supposed to be in the final,
- 3:06but sadly he was injured. Yeah, on unfortunately Jack
- 3:12picked up an an injury which has effectively ruled him out for
- 3:16the rest of the year. So hopefully you're recovering
- 3:23well Jack from everyone here. But then we got, I'd say we have
- 3:30a better idea of things of effectively just having a triple
- 3:36fret match for it. Oh yeah, 100%.
- 3:39Because I mean, two matches would have, both of these
- 3:43matches would have been fun, but having the final being between
- 3:47these three made a whole lot of sense.
- 3:51The participants were that of Chris Ridgway, Declan McCarthy
- 3:57and Dynamite Lee Dawson. I've made the point that this
- 4:04match felt like it could have gone on a bit longer because it
- 4:10just felt like a it felt a bit short to me.
- 4:14I don't know if if you can remember that far back if.
- 4:17Yeah, I felt the same as well. It felt like it was a, it was a
- 4:21good match, but it was like a slow burner which ended like I
- 4:25think it was only like a 6-7 minute match.
- 4:27Yeah, because I think we, I think we expected there was
- 4:32going to be more stuff that was going to be included.
- 4:35But I'm you did get your money's worth in this match.
- 4:40A lot of technical wrestling, a lot a lot of chops as well,
- 4:47which is always good to see, especially on my end.
- 4:50At least Ridgway won with a brain Buster on Declan McCarthy
- 4:58to win the eliminate tournament, and if memory serves, that means
- 5:05he will now get a title shot in the near future.
- 5:09Yeah, he gets a title shot in the new year for we guess he's
- 5:14going to cash in for the Atomic title.
- 5:16I don't don't think Ridgeway is going to go for the tag titles.
- 5:20No, because it seems a case of I don't think Ridgeway has many
- 5:27friends in Atomic, so I think the tag title seems very much
- 5:33ruled out on that basis. But I enjoyed this match.
- 5:39It was it didn't overstate Welcome, if anything could have
- 5:46gone longer, which is the the only kind of nitpicking you can
- 5:51do on this match. But solid opener.
- 5:56So we then moved to match #2 in a stipulation that got added
- 6:02very late. Yeah, this was last minute.
- 6:05This come out of nowhere, this stipulation.
- 6:06It wasn't on social media or anything.
- 6:08It just come out when the match got announced.
- 6:12So yeah. Yeah, because it had us all kind
- 6:15of looking at each other asking did we know about this rule, but
- 6:21obviously something had changed in the the last couple of days
- 6:25or hours, but we're not Privy to.
- 6:30So it was as has been put on cage match, the whoever is
- 6:35pinned retires tag team match. So we had Trail of Dead with
- 6:43Chase Alcala and Max Brooker. They took on the team of made to
- 6:50last in Leon Grey and Ryan Vaughan.
- 6:57Beforehand, we were doing that game of predict who we think
- 7:02he's going to lose and kind of crossing out who we think it
- 7:08wouldn't be we. Said Max Brooker was clear.
- 7:12Yeah, out of all of them I think we said Brooker was the clear
- 7:16favourite not to get pinned in this, especially as he is the
- 7:24OTP champion. So that kind of narrowed it down
- 7:32to three. This was a good match.
- 7:36I thought it started off a lot with made to last having the the
- 7:43early going trail of dead would kind of like fight their way
- 7:49back into this contest. It was very I'll tell you one
- 7:56thing I liked about this match. They didn't.
- 8:00They kept you guessing on what was going to happen because at
- 8:04one point you felt it was going to be Chase that was going to be
- 8:10the the loser. And then it switched to Leon,
- 8:16then it switched to Ryan. And as the match went on and on,
- 8:22you really could not tell who was going to win this match.
- 8:28And I think that's what made it kind of more interesting to
- 8:34watch. But unfortunately, it saw Ryan
- 8:39Vaughan taking the loss and seeing him sadly having to
- 8:46retire. That was after he took a what
- 8:51was it AI? Think it was like an yeah, it
- 8:54was like an assisted pile driver.
- 8:56And then Max broke up in him to make him retire, which was a
- 8:59shame. So we we had chasing Max from
- 9:05trailer dead with Lewis Johnson kind of celebrating their
- 9:09victory. And we then had Ryan sat in the
- 9:13ring on lacing his boots with Leon kind of giving him a hug.
- 9:22It's it felt like it almost felt like it was a storyline when
- 9:31they first announced it. And even when the match ended,
- 9:36yes, still felt that they were going to do something.
- 9:40But they could have asked or they could have said to Ryan,
- 9:43right? You can choose between retiring
- 9:46or joining the trail of dead. But obviously it wasn't and it
- 9:54really was a retirement, which I mean, I haven't seen too much of
- 10:01Ryan on all a lot of shows because it it seems to be mostly
- 10:07kind of Merseyside or. Still that.
- 10:12Yeah, of that way that he appears on shows.
- 10:15I know you've probably seen far more than than I have, Miles.
- 10:19Mostly in atomic in like the earlier shows.
- 10:24So it it's it's sad to see Ryan go because the more I've seen
- 10:30made to last, the more I've kind of gotten to know them a bit and
- 10:35actually look forward to their matches.
- 10:37So it was a it was a bit of a bobber that kind of like this
- 10:41happened. But again, it's we don't know
- 10:45what's going on, like personal things like job wise.
- 10:50So if this is kind of like what Ryan's had to do kind of it's
- 10:58fair enough. And just like good Luck and his
- 11:03whatever he's, he's up to moving forward, really he's he's had a,
- 11:08a solid career, it's fair to say.
- 11:14So we then move to match #3 which was almost the comedy
- 11:21match of the whole show, wasn't the only comedic spot that
- 11:29occurred on this show, but we'll come to that further down the
- 11:32line as we saw that damn dirty dog Gene Money taking on be
- 11:40more. Bailey, Sam Bailey, what was
- 11:46your take on this? I'll, I'll, I'll let you go on
- 11:49on this. I enjoyed this match.
- 11:51This match was a load of fun. It was just Gene Money just
- 11:54mocking Sam Bailey all much long.
- 11:56I felt like Money dominated this match.
- 11:59Bailey got a little bit in on money, but money was just fired
- 12:03up. The the start of the match was
- 12:08almost a call back to the previous show where.
- 12:11Yeah, against. Bailey lost.
- 12:13Yeah, where Bailey lost in about, I don't know, 1020
- 12:17seconds against AJ to a roll up. And then later that show we had
- 12:26the rumble, Bailey went over the top rope.
- 12:31So there was little callbacks to that in the in the beginning
- 12:35with money going for the the early roll up, which Bailey
- 12:38kicks out of. Bailey then nearly went over the
- 12:43the top rope, but didn't. But yeah, this this was just a
- 12:51bit of a palate cleanser to kind of like on this show.
- 12:58It wasn't the most serious match, but it was having your
- 13:04best two workers. I feel just putting on a bit of
- 13:07a a comedic match, but still showing that they are two very
- 13:13competent and very good wrestlers.
- 13:22But it ended with Gene Money hitting the Ainsley Lariat for
- 13:27the 1-2 and the three. And obviously Bailey just kind
- 13:36of got left in the ring for a good few minutes after the match
- 13:41claiming that. Did he?
- 13:44Did he get pinned because he had no recollection of it?
- 13:50All the all the scouses in the audience chanting Bailey's going
- 13:56to cry, going to cry and Sam who he knows kind of what to do in
- 14:04them situations, did play very much up to that.
- 14:12One thing I enjoy about especially Atomic is when there
- 14:19are Manchester wrestlers on and it's always you mank so and so
- 14:28because I I mean, I could get slightly triggered by some of
- 14:31these, some of these chants, but it's it's a it's a bit of fun.
- 14:39So that that was a that was a good match.
- 14:44I think this was the yeah, it was, I was, this was the what
- 14:50you would call the main event of the first half, which isn't
- 14:54really a main event. But before we had the tag title
- 14:59match, we had Troy Ryan, formerly of the Meat Waggon,
- 15:05coming out with both of the Atomic Tag Team titles, of which
- 15:11him and Anderson Daniels are the were the current tag team
- 15:16champions. For those that don't know, a few
- 15:22weeks ago it saw Anderson Daniels sustaining a triple leg
- 15:28break and Daniels had always stressed that if he sustained a
- 15:34serious injury that he would walk away.
- 15:39Unfortunately, that is what's happened.
- 15:45So heading into this show and even moving forward, it was a
- 15:52case of what's going to happen with Troy Ryan moving forward.
- 15:59Troy grabbed the microphone, cut a promo and kind of explained
- 16:05the situation. However, he's not going to
- 16:12defend the tag titles. Instead, he was informed
- 16:18everyone that the following contest, which was originally
- 16:22scheduled to be for the Burning Heart Pro Tag Team Titles, that
- 16:29this would also be now for the Atomic Tag Team Titles, meaning
- 16:35that two sets of belts would be up for grabs.
- 16:42So we had the four teams being Act 2, FTM quintessential and
- 16:54the current at the time Burning Heart Pro Tag Team Champions in
- 16:59the Grizzled Young Veterans. Where do we start with this
- 17:07Miles? Where do we start?
- 17:11So just before that Rogan come out and just.
- 17:16Oh. Yeah, Rogan come out and said
- 17:18he'd break his leg if he was Troy Ryan's partner, and then
- 17:22Troy Ryan beat up Rogan and then we got into the match after
- 17:26Rogan left the premises. To yeah, there was a the chance
- 17:37of Yorkshire PUD aim towards Rogan.
- 17:42But I we we were kind of saying before we did the recording that
- 17:48this feels like it's going to be Troy and Rogan in singles action
- 17:53moving forward because I think they're going to try and make
- 17:58the best out of the bad situation.
- 18:04But who knows, they may try and still do A tag team match and
- 18:09have Troy find a partner or whether they're just going to go
- 18:15down singles routes. We don't know.
- 18:19That's for for later on to decide.
- 18:24But as I say, we had this four way tag team title match.
- 18:33It was, it was chaotic, I think is one way to describe this.
- 18:41Not as chaotic as the Meltdown match that was that this year?
- 18:47Or was that last year? Yeah, that was this year at
- 18:49Content. Yeah, it was the first one.
- 18:55To be fair, the IT seems so long ago now that that shell that I
- 19:01can't remember if it was last year or if it was this year.
- 19:05I think it was this year. I think it was like April time.
- 19:10It was very early on, yeah. Yeah, I'm, I'm just very quickly
- 19:14now running through. Yes, it was back in April.
- 19:21Yeah, it was the first content for it was.
- 19:23Yeah, Atomic 10 if that's the the right one.
- 19:34But yeah, this this is just chaos from from start to finish.
- 19:40Grizzled Young veterans who are not really known for doing high
- 19:45flying moves. Drake can pull them off now and
- 19:49then. But it seemed very much like
- 19:53Quintessential and Act Two were the the high flies of this
- 19:57match, and FTM and the Grizzled Young Veterans were more the the
- 20:04kind of mat and technical. Sides in this one we did get the
- 20:14fun little standoff between Critcher, who claims that he is
- 20:20the real Liverpool #1 against Zach Gibson, who as we all know
- 20:27has had that moniker for quite a while.
- 20:32And having these two face to face was quite humorous, I
- 20:39thought, especially as Gibson kind of smacked Critchy and just
- 20:46basically gave him the the wanker sign, which I think cops
- 20:52a lot of people. But then we kind of had all the
- 20:59the high flying spots with put doing a yeah twisting Corkscrew
- 21:08moonsault. And then McCall did like a front
- 21:10flip. But I I would love to know what
- 21:14McCall was thinking when he went to do that because he went from
- 21:18the turnbuckle bouncing the middle.
- 21:23Row then to the top. And then it was like a
- 21:26springboard. I'm thinking, where the hell
- 21:28have you learnt this from Tom? Yeah, it's like a springboard
- 21:31front flip. Yeah, just it seems so out of
- 21:35character for Tom when you watch these when you watch these
- 21:39matches, because normally he's more the the technically sound
- 21:45wrestle, but it's again, when it's a title match, you do pull
- 21:51things out of your backside. And I mean, he he only just
- 21:56managed to to get everyone, but it still looks spectacular no
- 22:03matter what. And then we got towards the
- 22:08closing stages, which saw the grizzled young veterans having
- 22:17Patrick Quinlan on their on his on Gibson shoulders hit the
- 22:25almost like the doomsday device with Drake knocking PUD.
- 22:31It looked an awkward, very awkward landing.
- 22:36Hood gets up, staggers back. Ireland smacks him on the back.
- 22:43Yeah. I thought, yeah, we're going to
- 22:45win because if McCall kicked out a Grit your teeth, if you
- 22:48remember. Yes, which I think at that point
- 22:53we all realised that we were probably going to get a title
- 22:57change because if you kick out of that, that's normally an
- 23:03indication that you're going to get something different.
- 23:11But as I say, Patrick staggers backwards.
- 23:18Benjamin Harlan does the blind tag.
- 23:24Chris Old Young Veterans then hit a double team.
- 23:31Drake goes to pin. Referee James Greenwood informs
- 23:37him that he is not the legal man.
- 23:40This leads to Jack Nutson bringing in A tag title belt,
- 23:44distracting the ref so Howland can clock both Drake and Gibson.
- 23:53And then it sees Howland pinning Drake to get the 123.
- 24:00Act 2 are your both your Burning Heart Pro Tag team champions and
- 24:07your new Atomic Tag team champions.
- 24:15I think we both said we did not fully expect Act 2 to win this
- 24:20match. They were, they were up there,
- 24:24but we didn't think it was. We thought it might have been
- 24:27FTM or Quintessential that win this.
- 24:31But Act 2, it's it's in keeping with them winning a lot of tag
- 24:36titles of late. So I'm not against it, but it's
- 24:43it's going to be interesting I feel now with them holding the
- 24:47titles and what they do because they they held the tag titles
- 24:52for quite a while with Memories. Second time right now.
- 24:57So I wonder if we'll get the if we'll bring the little tag
- 25:02titles back as the. Mini ones are they were classic.
- 25:08Which did used to make me laugh when they came out with them.
- 25:13But yeah, that what was. What was your whole take on that
- 25:17tag title? I was surprised at 21 because
- 25:20they've never been on a Burning Heart show before.
- 25:22I thought it was going to be FTM because Critchy's been on
- 25:25Burning Heart. I think that's where we went
- 25:29down. I think when McCall kicked out
- 25:32of Grit Your Teeth, I think because he had Louise that were
- 25:38stuck with us and Mike and we were all convinced that it was
- 25:45looking like it could be FTM. But obviously that did not
- 25:50happen. And in truth it's probably a
- 25:55good thing because it wasn't hugely obvious of what happened.
- 26:02No one really predicted Act 2. So it's nice when you you get a
- 26:07result that's a bit unexpected. So we then came out of the
- 26:15interval and headed to the tag team match between Lally, that
- 26:22being Holly Barlow and Lana Austin taking on the unofficial
- 26:28team of Fire and Ice off Fierce Winter, whichever you want to
- 26:34call them, that being Lily Winter and Melissa Fierce.
- 26:41This was a really fun match to watch.
- 26:47All four are hugely entertaining to to see in the ring.
- 26:54You kind of know what you're getting with Lally, you're going
- 26:57to get kind of Holly Barlow with her Scrappy Doo approach to to
- 27:05wrestling matches. I feel Lana Austin, who almost
- 27:12seems like she's having to babysit at times, Holly just due
- 27:18to the exuberance that Holly has and also not wanting to be
- 27:25around her at the same time. While on the flip side, you've
- 27:29got Lily Winter, who I keep saying improves every single
- 27:35time I see her and is becoming one of the top female wrestlers
- 27:42in the Northwest, I feel. And then you've got Melissa
- 27:46Fears, who I mean, she just seems to be all over the place
- 27:50at the moment. She's she's recently just been
- 27:56in Cyprus. She won the Trying to remember
- 28:02the actual name of the title, the Nancy Benoit Fallen Angel
- 28:10Tournament at Pew. And the Wrestling in Newcastle
- 28:15champion as well. Yeah, she recently won that
- 28:18title. She is collecting honours like
- 28:23Oberman used to collect belts is one way to put it.
- 28:30This is 1 match I was really looking forward to because I
- 28:33love all four and this match didn't disappoint.
- 28:40It was, I think we can fairly say it was a bit of a slow
- 28:44burner because it felt like all four were baby faces in this
- 28:53match. And then I think very kind of
- 28:583/4 in Winter and Fierce took it upon themselves to slightly bend
- 29:05the rules slightly so we we could distinguish between the
- 29:10two who was good and who was bad ended up at the end with, I
- 29:19mean, whichever tag team name you want to go by, but Winter
- 29:25and Fear take the victory. This is after Holly tried to, I
- 29:31think she tried to do a like a son, almost like a sunset
- 29:35flipper that very well fisted an incredible job of saving Holly's
- 29:47life as sheep on Instagram where Holly kind of went to jump over
- 29:54like a sunset flip. Did not get it that well.
- 30:01Almost fell. Fierce used all her strength to
- 30:05kind of like pick her up and put her on her shoulders.
- 30:10Lana pulls Holly off Fierce's shoulders.
- 30:16This then sees Lana and Holly being pushed in together by
- 30:21Fierce which causes Lilly Winter to run in and roll up Lana
- 30:27Austin for the 123. And we will now, because Atomic
- 30:35said this, we will now get an official team name for Lily
- 30:40Winter and Melissa Fierce moving forward.
- 30:44So, but the ball is in their court, so to speak, on what the
- 30:49name is. What was your what was your take
- 30:53on this contest? It was very fun to watch to
- 30:59teams just with a lot of charisma, just bouncing off top
- 31:02of each other. It's as I say, I went into this
- 31:09looking forward to this match and as I say, I was not
- 31:13disappointed in any way. Though if you did see the
- 31:20Instagram story that I posted, our little corner seems to be
- 31:25the only ones that cheered for winter in Fierce, which I did
- 31:32feel find quite humorous. But everyone was cheering for
- 31:37Lolly because it's Lolly and they're they're extremely over
- 31:41with the fans. Then we came to the penultimate
- 31:47match of the night, which was a four way contest with Joe
- 31:53Kessler, Joe Blazer, Rob Drake, I'm the leading man, Tony
- 32:00Wright, I will let you take this one on.
- 32:08This match was chaos as well like where'd you go with this
- 32:13match? I felt like majority of the
- 32:16match it was like Tesla and Drake looking like they were
- 32:22going to have a one-on-one match and then Blazer was going for
- 32:25Tony Wright. It was like everyone was going
- 32:28for each of at one point it was like it was like, where's Wally
- 32:32body in the ring? Like Chaos.
- 32:38It was the thing as well of it felt like they were trying to
- 32:41set up possible angles with Blazer and Tony Kessler and
- 32:48Drake. And we seem to kind of just
- 32:52rotate them round and see which one fitted best.
- 32:58And I think following this match, it feels like it's going
- 33:02to be Kessler and Drake, Blazer and Wright, if the if that's the
- 33:07route they go down as like possible feuds, which I will not
- 33:13be against. I'll be happy a lot.
- 33:15Yeah is having seen Blazer and Wright feud future shock, they
- 33:21put on some really fun storylines.
- 33:29Kessler and Drake. It's it's literally 2 men, 2
- 33:33meaty men slapping meat, which is what they did the whole the
- 33:43match itself I thought was a really good match on till we got
- 33:52to the closing stages. Then it kind of went a bit off
- 33:59the rails. Yeah, unfortunately.
- 34:03Not due to the wrestlers. No, absolutely nothing with the
- 34:09wrestlers. If anything they tried to save
- 34:13or salvage something from the the mess.
- 34:18The ref Watch. I've, I've shown it to a couple
- 34:22of friends at referees and they just said it, it was just a
- 34:27miscommunication that did not look good.
- 34:33Just one of those things. There's been a couple this year
- 34:37that's it's just been like a, a miscommunication that's not
- 34:43helped a match. But at the same time, they've
- 34:47done well to kind of cover it up.
- 34:51Unfortunately, you could not do that on this one.
- 34:55So the scenario was Rob Drake had Tony Wright in AI don't
- 35:05know, something no one Drake had right?
- 35:09And he had him in a submission hold.
- 35:12I think someone said it was a cross face.
- 35:14Yeah, it looked like a cross face.
- 35:15I can't remember. Yeah, because we couldn't see
- 35:18from from our vantage point because we had Joe Kessler
- 35:23putting Joe Blazer in a sleeper hold and then kind of fell back.
- 35:31So we couldn't see what Drake was doing to Tony.
- 35:36Blazer taps a fair few times and the crowd is saying Joe's
- 35:42tapping, Joe's tapping. And the referee seemed to be
- 35:46more interested in what was going on with Drake and then
- 35:50looked over at Kessler and then didn't know what to do.
- 35:56And then Kessler let go of Blazer.
- 36:01Drake let go of right. Both men stood up.
- 36:05And then Kessler put the sleeper hold immediately back onto
- 36:09Blazer. And after a few seconds, Blazer
- 36:13taps out again and the referee instantly goes, Oh, yeah, OK.
- 36:19He tapped ring the bell, ring the bell.
- 36:22And Drake, just Drake was not a happy man, I think it's fair to
- 36:28say. And I don't think Kessler
- 36:32particularly was Eva with how this panned out.
- 36:36Even during his kind of post match celebrations, he did not
- 36:44really look a happy camper. Eva, the only person that well,
- 36:51we can't remember how Wright reacted, but Joe was still
- 36:56falling all over the place having been in the sleeper hold.
- 37:01So I don't think he he knew what was going on, but it it kind of
- 37:07put a dampener on what was a really good match, which is
- 37:12which was a shame really. But any any more to add to that
- 37:19or? I feel Rob Drake's been very
- 37:22unlucky in Atomic this year with the matches that like, I feel
- 37:27sorry for Rob. Yeah, I I made the point on the
- 37:33OPW podcast, which I think will come out today or will come out
- 37:43tomorrow, depending how I work these.
- 37:47And I've made the point of Drake this year having really the only
- 37:54times I've seen him is Atomic and he's had three of the
- 37:59stinkers this year. But the more I've seen him it
- 38:04feels very much like it wasn't him.
- 38:09For why the matches were not particularly good.
- 38:15It's he's been very unlucky. As you say, at Atomic he was in
- 38:19a feud that was awful and thankfully they they've
- 38:24scrapped. I do get slightly worried at GPW
- 38:32because the same two men look like they're going to be
- 38:35involved in in an angle there, which I am not looking forward
- 38:41to. But his match against Joey Hayes
- 38:46at Odyssey was a really fun match.
- 38:51His match at Wigan against Dylan Roberts was good.
- 38:55So while the first half of this year I was thinking that could
- 39:01be a problem, the second-half of this year has been a much better
- 39:06year. But he has definitely had a lot
- 39:09of bad luck at Atomic this year it feels, so hopefully 2026 is a
- 39:17better one for him. But now we come to your main
- 39:25event of the evening, which was for the Atomic Championship
- 39:32between Scott Olbermann defending and putting up his 609
- 39:40day title run against the winner of the Monster Mash Rumble in
- 39:48the returning Teddy Ray a match. As Adam, I think you might have
- 39:57said this off there a year in the making almost with Teddy Ray
- 40:03having gone over to well, he travelled to Australia, done a
- 40:10fair few months there. He has come back a.
- 40:14A new man, so to speak, has the rat King and the way they did
- 40:21the rumble to set up Teddy and Olbermann was really well done.
- 40:28I actually thought the promos, especially Scott, who's seems to
- 40:35be the king of the promos this year because Anthony editor has
- 40:41definitely got his his miles in this year.
- 40:45At this point, every promo I think he's Dunn's almost been
- 40:51with Olbermann. We were all looking forward to
- 40:56this title match. I think it went about 25, maybe
- 41:04a bit longer 20. Five.
- 41:07Half an hour. Yeah, it it was a long old
- 41:11match. However, as I say, it did not
- 41:16outstay it's welcome at all. It it slowly built because the
- 41:24start of the match. So the majority of it being
- 41:28Teddy Ray outsmarting Scott, which normally is the other way
- 41:34around. It's normally Scott gets the
- 41:36upper hand on everyone to begin with and then it turns.
- 41:42But Ray, as we said, is a different person since he's come
- 41:47back and it almost felt like Ray was having, well, he did feel
- 41:53like he had the majority of the the offence in this match, I
- 41:59think. We were saying yeah.
- 42:02Scott seemed to hit the the bigger moves and like the bigger
- 42:08moments, but Ray almost seemed to out wrestle Scott in the
- 42:14contest. But once kind of like Olbermann
- 42:20saw a chance to just punish Ray, he did.
- 42:26And there was there was a lot that happened, but also there
- 42:30wasn't a whole lot. But that said, it was a really,
- 42:37it was a good title match. Oberman, I don't think he's
- 42:43capable of having a bad title match with anyone who feels.
- 42:47I've not seen one bad title match from him.
- 42:49No, which is considering he's got so many belts, the fact that
- 42:59every title match he has had has been absolute bangers.
- 43:06His feud with Tony Wright this year, which I'd say is up there
- 43:10for feud of the year, but I'd probably say if Ray was here as
- 43:18well, they would have had equally as kind of watchable
- 43:26title bangers. But this match, as I said, went
- 43:33about half an hour, went back and forth towards the end.
- 43:38Teddy Ray ends finally the streak at Atomic for Scott
- 43:47Oberman hitting a twisting crossbody, the second one to win
- 43:56the atomic title. But one thing I've kind of
- 44:02bypassed was Olbermann hitting Ray with almost every signature
- 44:08and finishing move he had in his arsenal.
- 44:11He. Hit every move.
- 44:13Yeah, he. Hit he hit the stomp, he hit how
- 44:16he lost count of how many corner space he did to Teddy Ray
- 44:20because like I thought he was just going to call the match
- 44:22because I think he hit Teddy Ray with like 6 corner space.
- 44:26He hit Ride the Lightning, he hit Spirit of the Blues, he hit
- 44:30literally every move he could. And Ray would not stay down.
- 44:38And it almost felt like Olbermann kind of expected that
- 44:43Ray would not give up, so he didn't get as clustered.
- 44:51But I think as it went on and Ray kind of got a second wind
- 44:57hitting the the crossbody and then hitting that second
- 45:01crossbody from the top rope, the explosion from the crowd when
- 45:09when that free count hits, I think tells you 2 things.
- 45:16I think it's told you that Teddy Ray is a huge fan favourite at
- 45:21Atomic and it also tells you that how massive that title
- 45:28reign was for Scott Olbermann. To have that crowd explode with
- 45:36a new title change, I think it just shows how good that reign
- 45:40was of Olbermann. But it's, I don't know if I'd
- 45:47put it up there with the best title matches we've seen this
- 45:52year, Anatomic, but it's definitely one of the more
- 45:59important matches we've saw this year in the Northwest.
- 46:07But that said, it was still an absolute banging match.
- 46:11Anything else you would care to add or?
- 46:14There's definitely worth a watch when it drops onto YouTube.
- 46:16Honestly, like the storytelling in this match, it felt like a
- 46:23movie. Yeah, it it was a really
- 46:29exciting match. Even being a slow burner as
- 46:33well. It it helped it.
- 46:36Sometimes the match can start off slow and meander a bit
- 46:42before you get to the end. But the pacing of this match
- 46:47really did help how this contest went.
- 46:53But yeah, so as I say, we have a new champion at Atomic.
- 47:00The reign of Oberman is over. Long live the Rat King.
- 47:07And now we look forward to the next show at Atomic, which is
- 47:16March the 6th, I believe. Or is it March?
- 47:19No March the 8th, yes, March the 8th.
- 47:26I was trying to think because I know I am not there.
- 47:30I'm in London because it's Eve. Wrestle Queendom because it
- 47:36clashes unfortunately. So I won't be there.
- 47:41But Atomic and Burning Car are doing a crossover event at
- 47:47Content. Get your tickets for that show
- 47:53because I feel that is going to be an extremely entertaining
- 47:59show. Might.
- 48:00Even be a first sell out for content I think.
- 48:04It's one thing I will I'll ask you about Content since they've
- 48:13kind of changed the setup at content now putting like the
- 48:18black curtains in the venue to make it look a bit more intimate
- 48:24as a as a part from being very open.
- 48:30Would you say that's helped the the atmosphere and everything on
- 48:34the shows? Oh yeah, 100%.
- 48:36It's made it feel a lot more enclosed.
- 48:40Yeah, it's, I think the the thing with content is because
- 48:45it's such a big venue, having it closed off or half of it closed
- 48:51off, even though you're losing a bit of Fair bit of space, you're
- 48:58actually helping to make it more of an intimate venue, which for
- 49:05a wrestling show I think does help quite a lot.
- 49:12So that's it is one bonus that atomic have done and I think
- 49:21they're they're going to continue going down that route
- 49:26now of also they mean if a few shows they may choose to kind of
- 49:32like move it back a bit more if more fans come.
- 49:38One thing they did have a massive bit of help with, there
- 49:44were no football matches that clashed with content.
- 49:49Every show they have done at content has seen a Liverpool
- 49:55match or a Merseyside Derby clash with a content show.
- 50:02So the first one they held was, as I say, back in April when it
- 50:07was the Merseyside Derby and lost, I think we were told
- 50:15they'd lost a lot of fans because obviously the the
- 50:20fixture clash which didn't see a massive crowd, but it's a decent
- 50:25sized crowd. The next show they did as I go
- 50:32back, so they did one in August which was the day of the Charity
- 50:40Shield when Liverpool, when Liverpool played Crystal Palace
- 50:47and Despite that being on a Sunday it still did not help.
- 50:56And then the last show they did on the 29th, which is was
- 51:01Halloween, Liverpool played, I think it was Alice again in a
- 51:08League Cup match and of course affected crowds then.
- 51:13So this was the first time we actually had a non football
- 51:20match affecting attendances. The worry we had kind of in the
- 51:2920 minutes before the show, it looked empty and we were worried
- 51:35there wasn't going to be a lot of people there.
- 51:38And then everyone just seemed to come through that curtain about
- 51:4210 minutes before and it I think we said it could be close to a
- 51:49sell out crowd. But it's I think this is what
- 51:55they're looking for, getting big crowds to come to Atomic because
- 51:59it is easily one of the best shows in the Northwest.
- 52:05There's an argument to say it's the best show in Liverpool.
- 52:13I leave people to argue that point because I can censor a few
- 52:21people immediately shouting just going no, I can think of another
- 52:27show. But yeah, It's Atomic is one of
- 52:33my favourite promotions. I don't drag my sorry ass from
- 52:39Manchester to Liverpool just because I have to.
- 52:43I I enjoy going there. It's good to see something
- 52:48different. What's your takes on Atomic as a
- 52:56as a promotion? I don't think I've ever.
- 53:00One of the hottest rising promotions in the whole of the
- 53:06UK, I'd say, not just Northwest. I feel like Atomic have just
- 53:10gone from strength to strength. The fact that they've managed to
- 53:14pull a partnership with Burning Heart just shows there's a good
- 53:18group of people run this show. Like a lot of the people on the
- 53:23show were Burning Heart trainees.
- 53:25Because I know that that McCarthy owns the Atomic with a
- 53:29few other people behind the scenes.
- 53:32These guys did Burning Heart. So the fact that they've managed
- 53:35to get Gibson and Drake on the show is mega.
- 53:38Like we've not seen Gibson and Drake in Liverpool since their
- 53:43Burning Heart show. So the fact that they've come
- 53:45out of their way from Florida just to come to Burning Heart is
- 53:49not come to Atomic is mega. Yeah, it's again if you haven't
- 53:58been to an Atomic show, highly recommend.
- 54:01It is one of the best shows in the northwest, if not one of the
- 54:09best shows in the UK. Like Miles has just said.
- 54:14I will put a link up on their YouTube page and other socials
- 54:21to give them a shout out. But before we go, I have a
- 54:29feeling what you're going to say, but I will ask anyhow.
- 54:34Anything you would like to plug? You know what I'll plug?
- 54:40I'll plug my axe for once. Go on.
- 54:45So it's Miles Smith, 2001, MYLESSMITH and then 2001.
- 54:55That will be on the socials underneath in the description.
- 55:01For me. I have now got a wrestle free
- 55:06year till January 4th, but I still have the rest of the year
- 55:14off obviously because I'm trying to review all the shows I've
- 55:19been to and this will not be the last time that you hear Miles in
- 55:25me discussing A wrestling show. We will hopefully, fingers
- 55:33crossed in touch Wood. Yeah, just making sure this is
- 55:36made out of wood. We will be looking back at what
- 55:41happened at both Future Shock and at Catch Pro Wrestling.
- 55:49So you, you lovely people have that to look forward to.
- 55:56Socials for me. Brad's grappas on Instagram,
- 56:03PETA Bradders Capital P Capital B on XI am in the process of
- 56:12creating a page for Bradd's grappas as a kind of like an
- 56:16extra social thing. But for now at least, thank you
- 56:25very much before listening. I have been better.
- 56:30He has been Miles. And we will catch you on the
- 56:36next episode.
