- 0:00Hello and welcome to Anime Club Way.
- 0:03So me and Thebes tonight have two very special guests, all
- 0:07three. And we've got Kyle and Erin, who
- 0:09are the writers and director of a film called Zombiecon Volume
- 0:131. It's a film about cosplayers who
- 0:16accidentally trigger a zombie apocalypse.
- 0:19Me and Thebes have seen it. It's amazing.
- 0:21If you want to check that for yourself, the links are in the
- 0:24description. You can even buy a physical copy
- 0:27of the DVD which is amazing but we didn't want to waste Kyle and
- 0:33Erin's time with intros and stuff like that.
- 0:36So I'm just inserting this but on with Phoebes amazing
- 0:40presenting skills. Awesome.
- 0:43Welcome to this week's Anime Club and this week's very
- 0:47special because we have some very special guests with us all
- 0:50the way over from the States. Thank you so much for making
- 0:52time in the middle of the day because for us it's evening for
- 0:56you, your time travelling. And it's Carl and Erin from
- 1:01Zombie Com Volume 1, which Chris and I have both seen.
- 1:05We absolutely loved it and we're very excited to have you here
- 1:08because not only is it a horror film, it's I think an anime film
- 1:12first and foremost. I mean, it's great to have you.
- 1:16Thank you. Thank you both for having us.
- 1:18This is like a dream come true. I mean, you saw the film.
- 1:21We're huge anime nerds. So coming on an anime centric
- 1:24podcast. Oh yeah, thank you for having
- 1:26us. And our daughter, Anya is
- 1:28joining us because? Yes, of course.
- 1:30Sorry, star of the show. Right, she's going to take all
- 1:33the attention away from us, but we'll do our best to come.
- 1:36That's OK. And she also has like the one
- 1:38name like Kylie Madonna. Hey.
- 1:41Share. Anya.
- 1:42That's right. Anya.
- 1:44Yeah, Fab. Yeah.
- 1:47So one of the questions that we always ask people, the whole
- 1:50premise of the podcast is we watch 3 episodes of an anime
- 1:54that we like and then we decide, would you keep watching?
- 1:57This week we're doing Spy Times Family or Spy X Family.
- 2:01We had some debate on how do you say it or would you just say Spy
- 2:05Family because that was the other, that's what Chris was
- 2:07proposing. And that feels preposterous to
- 2:09me. We're saying spy X family, just
- 2:12like, just like spy family. We just now say spy family,
- 2:16Yeah. What?
- 2:16Oh. No how numbered.
- 2:18Hunter. I like hunter, Hunter.
- 2:20It's like, do you say Hunter X Hunter?
- 2:22Yes, Hunter. So we just like drop the X and
- 2:26like, OK, just go with that. Yeah, fair enough.
- 2:30So before we all. Yeah.
- 2:32Now go on Chris, gloat a little bit, why don't you?
- 2:34Yeah, I'm just trying to take that moment in a bit.
- 2:38I was so ready to just move past it because it's like, so are you
- 2:42going to say you were wrong? No, we're going to move into one
- 2:46of the questions we always ask people when they come on is what
- 2:49was your gateway anime? Can you remember the first anime
- 2:53that you saw where you were like, oh, this is a bit of me?
- 2:57I was like, so I was, I grew up in the early 90s.
- 3:00I'll date myself. And I was about 5:00, so it was
- 3:03like 1992. And Dragon Ball Z was syndicated
- 3:07on like the public access television network.
- 3:09So you got like 1 disjointed episode every like week that
- 3:14nothing to do with what happened next week.
- 3:17And so I started watching it like randomly catching it just
- 3:21periodically. And I'd be like, Oh yeah, this
- 3:23is really cool. Like they're shooting these
- 3:25waves and and I found an action figure and it was like, I
- 3:28remember I had two or three Dragon Ball Z action figures
- 3:31growing up and they were all like the fixed arm statues.
- 3:34So it was like Goku had his arms like fixed, like he's doing a
- 3:37commandment wave and you like pushed it in and you know that
- 3:40little spring and shot it out. And Piccolo was just doing a
- 3:43special beam cannon. And then there was a Vegeta who
- 3:46was doing I guess final flash or something like, but he was stuck
- 3:50in a weird position too. And that was a lot of my
- 3:53childhood was trying to take these three immovable action
- 3:56figures with no movable joints. I have a lot of combat editor.
- 4:01Yeah, yeah. I'm like the classic.
- 4:04I was obsessed with Pokémon in the heyday of Pokémon, and I
- 4:08remember specifically that I would be evastated if I woke up
- 4:13on a Saturday morning and I missed even a minute of that
- 4:16anime. I mean, like bawling.
- 4:19I had my whole routine. It was best thing ever.
- 4:21The cards, the whole deal. But as an adult and
- 4:25rediscovering anime and getting deeper into it, like diving head
- 4:28first, I would say thanks to Kyle and particular Attack on
- 4:32Titan. I mean, yeah, it was Naruto and
- 4:35one piece of everything. But he really like had the, you
- 4:38know, a sit down and he's like, you know, you really need to get
- 4:40into this. And it was Berserk.
- 4:43Actually, we had the the Rockets, rockets of Zombiecon
- 4:47volume 1. He's he lured us and he's like,
- 4:49we're going to do a BBQ. We're going to have sangria.
- 4:52We're going to have lots of, you know, drinks flowing.
- 4:54It's all great. We're gonna sit down and we're
- 4:56just going to watch a casual anime.
- 4:58We're a diamond. And I'm going to emotionally
- 5:00damage you for life with Bizarre.
- 5:03Or life. Oh yeah.
- 5:04Why? I don't know.
- 5:05I don't know if Funky had ever seen.
- 5:07Like, I know I'm sure that everyone had casually seen an
- 5:09anime or whatever, but I was by far like the biggest anime fan.
- 5:13I mean I've literally watched as much as I could since I was
- 5:16literally 5 years old and she was watching the eclipse
- 5:20sequence and she started freaking out like like just I
- 5:25think she jumped off the couch and like ran across the room
- 5:28screaming. She's like what the fuck is
- 5:29happening it? Was it was an epic, yeah, cast
- 5:34rehearsal day. But we also did Attack on Titan,
- 5:36which was of course just incredible.
- 5:38I think that's such a good gateway anime to introduce
- 5:41people to be like, especially that or My Hero.
- 5:44And we filmed this film in 2016. So back then in particular, like
- 5:49they were really just getting going.
- 5:51And yeah, Attack on Titan, I would say, and we Naruto, we've
- 5:55binge watched One Piece, we've binge watched.
- 5:57I mean, we just, it was off to the races.
- 6:00Excellent. I think that feels like a strong
- 6:02starting starting foundation for anime.
- 6:07In Attack on Titan is one of my favourites.
- 6:10And also any series that starts with someone watching their own
- 6:13mother being like dangled into a giant's mouth.
- 6:16You're like, how can some of things sustain that in terms of
- 6:20tension? And yet it somehow manages to
- 6:22just get bigger and more dramatic as it goes on.
- 6:25He's a masterpiece. Absolutely.
- 6:29Although, I mean, I felt like it was just like every other Disney
- 6:32movie I've seen. Yeah, parents died.
- 6:39Guy has to go and save the world.
- 6:41Kind of. Bye parents.
- 6:45Yeah, the ending might have changed a little bit.
- 6:48Yeah, yeah. I mean, that does say something
- 6:51about Disney, but it's not that kind of podcast.
- 6:53So we're moving on. So when you look at because
- 6:58obviously we can't have you on here without talking about the
- 7:00film that you had, you guys have made, which is awesome.
- 7:03And thank you so much for letting Chris and I watch it
- 7:07because we had a ball watching it together when you were
- 7:11sitting down to first create it. What what made you want to do
- 7:15anime? Convention is like a starting
- 7:17point. Oh, we were.
- 7:19We went through this whole process of how to get to a
- 7:23feature film, like short films, web series, finally landed on
- 7:27zombies thinking that would be like an A good entry point for
- 7:30like an indie, you know, first kind of film makers film.
- 7:34And from there we were trying to like, well, how do we make the
- 7:36zombies different? And I've always like wanted to
- 7:38do live action adaptation of an anime and obviously need to have
- 7:43the rights for that. And it's an expensive process.
- 7:45And someone, you know, with a much bigger budget than what
- 7:47we've had, which was like, 60, is going to be tackling that,
- 7:51though. We were kind of scouring the
- 7:55ideas of how to make the zombies different.
- 7:58We're actually at my brother's house, and I saw, I think he's
- 8:01got like, a bunch of movie props.
- 8:03And he had a Captain America shield on the wall.
- 8:05And I was like, ah, it would be really cool to, you know, kill a
- 8:08zombie with that and you could use it as a defensive weapon.
- 8:11And I start, like, looking at all the other props.
- 8:13And I'm like, yeah, do you got held up in this house?
- 8:15Like, you could use that Predator mask.
- 8:17You do this and that. And then I was like, well, how
- 8:20do we weave that in? I'm like who would have this
- 8:23stuff other than like a prop collector?
- 8:26Top collectors don't usually destroy their props.
- 8:28They're kind of like cosplayers. I'm a cosplayer.
- 8:33I've got a lot of this stuff. I would definitely would love to
- 8:37use this stuff against zombies. And that is kind of got the ball
- 8:41rolling with OK, well now we got to do like in a con convention
- 8:45type thing. As soon as we started going down
- 8:47that path, I got to kind of choose my own like specific con.
- 8:52I was like I. Can.
- 8:53Make this anime inspired. This could be my like way to
- 8:58make an anime, but using a film to do it I can't.
- 9:02Like I can draw a little bit but I can't draw like you know, real
- 9:05anime and manga artists. So this was kind of my version
- 9:09of drawing an anime. The camera.
- 9:12Yeah, yeah, I love that. And I also loved in like Chris
- 9:16and I was spotting the different anime references as well through
- 9:19like costumes and props. Was that all from your personal
- 9:22collection or did you manage to? Did you like use it as an excuse
- 9:25to acquire some more like? How much he did already have
- 9:31though, and was from a special collection.
- 9:33Yeah, well, a lot of, so a lot of the stuff like the figures
- 9:36and stuff that, you know, that was all my stuff.
- 9:38But for like the katanas especially, because we had to
- 9:41get multiple variants of all the swords because you know,
- 9:45whenever you use a spec, a sword for a special effect, you've got
- 9:47to saw them in half or you've got to dull them.
- 9:50You've got to kind of destroy them.
- 9:51And you have to have always a secondary prop just in case
- 9:54something goes wrong. It can get a ton of fake blood
- 9:57on it or it can get lost or broken and transiting from set
- 10:01to set. So you just always want to have
- 10:02a backup. So because of that went on
- 10:06Amazon and was able to like have my dream shopping cart get as a
- 10:11child I used to have one. Finally that wish list cuz I can
- 10:14like crack into it with no. Guilt.
- 10:19Yeah, it was. I I've likened it to like James
- 10:21Cameron using the Titanic as an excuse to go down to actually
- 10:25see the ship. This was my version of that,
- 10:28just on a little bit smaller budget.
- 10:31Yeah, and because it's funny you should, you should mention the
- 10:36Captain America Shields, because when I was watching the film, I
- 10:39was like, oh, I didn't realise how like every nerd group I've
- 10:43ever been in, the conversation of how do you survive a zombie
- 10:46apocalypse? Comes up every time.
- 10:48And every nerd has a has their own plan.
- 10:51I also didn't realize, like, because you have, like, doomsday
- 10:54preppers, how much in common they have in terms of their,
- 10:57like, living room decor with nerds as well.
- 11:01So there was a kind of beautiful moment where I was like, Oh
- 11:03yeah, no, these are the people who would survive the zombie
- 11:05apocalypse. Need an inherent need to collect
- 11:10and knowing that there's no bounds?
- 11:14Absolutely. Chris, sorry you had some
- 11:19questions. I just like jumped right in but.
- 11:23Don't say it's fine. We we we fights went blunt.
- 11:25That was just isn't Yuka, sorry. Grand I'll in that case, I'll
- 11:33crack up. I'll Yeah.
- 11:36So yeah. So you had the we did the
- 11:37Zombiecon. The other question I wanted to
- 11:39ask actually, because in the film you have you, you'd like to
- 11:43have created your own anime for bits of it as well, because that
- 11:49was another like, delightful moment of like, oh, there's like
- 11:51you Because there was a moment of like, it's not a real.
- 11:54No, that's not a real. I'm pretty sure I would know it
- 11:56if I'd see if I'd seen that anime before.
- 11:59And so that was kind of like a fun kind of, yeah, that was
- 12:04like, it felt felt like a fun thing for an anime fan to be
- 12:07able to do with their film. It was a fast, it was difficult.
- 12:12It was so much more difficult than I thought.
- 12:15But that's like 3rd iteration of the animes that I was working on
- 12:19it at first. They started very basically and
- 12:23as we kept cutting the film and time kept expanding, I was like,
- 12:26I've got to like really put in effort.
- 12:28I've got to do the best I can, animate something to do justice.
- 12:33So I tried to a take different genres.
- 12:36So one was called Dragon Samurai, which is the first one
- 12:39you see. I tried to take Ronnie Kenshin
- 12:41and Dragon Ball Z and like smash them together.
- 12:44So it's, you know, you're only seeing it in clips, but there's
- 12:47actually 15 minutes of that anime that exists.
- 12:50There's a whole it's I didn't want to have to like, I wanted
- 12:55it to be in sequence. I didn't want to just like cut
- 12:57to random scenes. So there's actually a story
- 12:59that's happening, you know, in the.
- 13:01Background in the background of the film.
- 13:04It kind of mirrors what happens in the film to a certain extent.
- 13:07And the second one was lovingly called the Toe and I'm a
- 13:13notoriously terrible speller. And so when I was writing really
- 13:18quickly for the first iteration of that, whatever, the animation
- 13:21was like just static kind of I wrote, I was just quickly going
- 13:25and I was like the Toe. And I might have been
- 13:26autocorrect or anything else, but it did TOE&J.
- 13:30Michael Troutman, who plays the Mystic man who gives Claire the
- 13:33rock in the movie, is a huge, huge start to a fan.
- 13:37He's I don't read. He's like, like looking at my
- 13:39work desk. He's like, so he's like, I think
- 13:42that's funny. That's funny.
- 13:43You spelled it like that. He's like, I bet the live action
- 13:47or the Netflix adaptation would have like a bunch of people's
- 13:50feet going around. And I was like, oh, yeah, I like
- 13:56that. I think we'll keep that in.
- 13:57Anyone with a foot fetish must watch.
- 14:00Yeah, yeah. What's his face?
- 14:03Tarantino's out here like, oh, I could go behind this.
- 14:05He's. Already adapting the live
- 14:08action. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:11He's like, this will be the one movie I direct where I won't
- 14:14write it. It's fine.
- 14:15Yeah, but I'll still be in it. Yeah, three times and.
- 14:23It was really cool watching him develop those anime too, because
- 14:26some of them, if you'll notice, I mean obviously we've rewatched
- 14:29this film insane amounts of times and so if you notice upon
- 14:35rewatch, especially the very first one, which was.
- 14:38Called Dragon Samurai. Dragon Samurai, it's the bad guy
- 14:41and his three girls. He's like girls.
- 14:43And if you've seen Zombiecon and you're looking at the one of the
- 14:46end fights, you know there's a similar theme of foreshadowing
- 14:50going on here. Yeah.
- 14:51And the same with the toe. It's again, yeah, if you hear, I
- 14:55mean, it's also very Naruto issue.
- 14:56Like it's like the power of friendship and groups and get
- 14:59all this dialogue. I felt I did all the voices
- 15:01myself. They all they all have scripts.
- 15:04It all gets totally drowned out by the actual actors in the film
- 15:08like. One day we'll release it, one
- 15:11day it'll be like all three together in its own DVD or
- 15:14something. We'll make it look like an art
- 15:16and old VHS tape. It looks super old school.
- 15:19Do something. With it.
- 15:21It will be like one of those hidden Easter egg like meant old
- 15:24DVD menus where you had to like get the buttons to go right over
- 15:28the right combination and then bams hidden scene.
- 15:33And but it's funny you should mention the rock thing, because
- 15:36this is a question that Chris and I had, which is like, was
- 15:39there a reason for the trip? Like so you get a lot of zombie
- 15:43films that are kind of like where it's disease based or it's
- 15:47kind of more scientific technological.
- 15:50Was there a reason for like, going down a kind of more
- 15:52magical mystical? Rock.
- 15:55Based Zombie Law for the film. Trying to interject, I wanted to
- 16:01create basically my again, like I said said before, this is like
- 16:04my version of an anime, but new film or I wanted to create a
- 16:09world mechanic life beyond just the singular film, not just a
- 16:14virus or something like that. And again, try to put a twist on
- 16:17it. Oh, in a deleted scene that's
- 16:20available on the DVD that we had to cut for time or wasn't like
- 16:25basically an opening that explained the history of that
- 16:28particular object and other objects like it.
- 16:31You can liken them like somewhat to Devil Fruits in a way.
- 16:36And they they do have a fleshed out back story and an origin.
- 16:40And as the films progress through, like Volume 10, they
- 16:43start to play a more impactful role, you know, as like the
- 16:48world mechanic, and they become kind of a central part of the
- 16:51story as we continue through. And then I'll give the more
- 16:54generic answer, which is how loves fantasy, some sci-fi and
- 16:59associate. Yeah.
- 17:01If he is writing like a Christmas ROM com, he will try
- 17:04and find a way to throw some fantasy.
- 17:07Santa's a wizard, Yes. No, that's happening.
- 17:12You agree? Yeah.
- 17:18So moving into thank you very much because yeah, great film,
- 17:21highly recommend it. We'll put the description in our
- 17:24description below. We'll put a link to all the
- 17:27socials and things so you can go check out if you're watching
- 17:30this or listening on Spotify, you can go check out Zombie Con
- 17:33Volume 1 and in terms of spy family, Spy Ex family.
- 17:40Spy family. Duck it right in if you were
- 17:43going to like describe or some like describe this to someone
- 17:46who'd never seen anime before. What's your like elevator pitch
- 17:49for why this is a good choice for to recommend to people?
- 17:55My gosh, that's so good. OK, I guess I would say there's
- 17:58you in thinking that it's going to be just this sweet, kind of
- 18:01almost like PG for adults though anime where it's a setup of
- 18:06maybe there's going to be romance between a secret spy and
- 18:11a secret assassin and then a little girl who they adopt who
- 18:16they don't even know has got telepathy.
- 18:18But that would be your mistake, because what it really is, is a
- 18:23heart filled beautiful adventure, deep action filled
- 18:28suspenseful drama. It's got shades of everything
- 18:31and it's especially being you surprised as the show goes on,
- 18:36somehow it gets better and better.
- 18:39Oh, am I pitching this? Just to be clear, am I pitching
- 18:41this to a person who's anime fan or a nor me?
- 18:46Oh. I would say normie.
- 18:50I I say no let's go normie first.
- 18:52What's your like? You could hook anyone into this
- 18:55anime. Just be like and I'm trying to
- 18:58keep it much simpler, Aaron. Much more is like.
- 19:00She that was, that was not an elevator pitch, that was like a
- 19:02long like car ride pitch. It was a love letter, Aaron, and
- 19:06I was here for it. I was absorbed.
- 19:07I'm going to go watch it. I would, I would just be like,
- 19:11this is the James Bond you've always wanted to see with heart
- 19:14and family. And I would just be like, just
- 19:17have to watch it. Hey James Bond, if he got over
- 19:20his weird toxic male thing. Settle down had a family.
- 19:25I mean I honestly like Boyd is like also way more capable than
- 19:29James Bond, but if someone's not familiar with like.
- 19:32If they're an army. Yeah, I wouldn't want to like
- 19:34put down their spy hero or something.
- 19:37So I try to like lure them in with like honey as opposed to
- 19:40vinegar. And I have to throw in there
- 19:43because I would feel stupid later not saying our daughter's
- 19:46name is Anya. And so I mean that alone from
- 19:50us. Got to watch by family.
- 19:53Yeah, Yeah. You're basically living the live
- 19:56action version on a daily basis. It's.
- 19:59Not saying that we're secret spies or assassins, but.
- 20:04If you are saying it on YouTube is probably like if you like
- 20:08kicked out. Or it's the perfect cover
- 20:11because no real spy would say they were a spy.
- 20:14The double bluff. That's true.
- 20:16Like no real spy would go and make films because it's too high
- 20:20profile. But actually, maybe, yeah.
- 20:24We'll never know. I'll just keep you guessing.
- 20:26I want to agree. I'll soon.
- 20:32Aren't you as Lloyd, me as your and Anya next year, next year,
- 20:36next year? Sold for next year.
- 20:38Yeah, I kind of agree with you, both of you.
- 20:40I think it's a for me, my elevator pitch is this is a if
- 20:44you like Raymond Chandler and you also happen to like When
- 20:49Harry Met Sally and you've always wanted both of those
- 20:52things to meet. This is the anime where it will
- 20:54happen and you'll also be like riveted the whole time.
- 20:58Also, you're who's like the mum kind of in this sort of little
- 21:03configuration of a family is an absolute bad ass.
- 21:07And I'm all for, as Chris like Boringly knows, because I say
- 21:12nearly every every podcast, I just want the women in anime to
- 21:15really kick ass and I want them to do it better than the men and
- 21:19to look great while they do it. And I think she did delivers on
- 21:22every count in that in that way. Do you have like in terms of
- 21:29favorite characters or characters that you obviously
- 21:31you've got to have a little bit of extra love for Anya because
- 21:33it's there's like a daughter thing going on there.
- 21:36It's hard not to. But in terms of like favorite
- 21:39characters, have you got any that are kind of your standouts
- 21:43from the anime? I mean, I would be boring and go
- 21:46with Lloyd and I would say you are, but I did not be boring
- 21:52Borf and I'd say I actually kind of like Desmond, the kid, like
- 21:56he's kind of like he he you could tell that he's got like a
- 22:01good heart in there and it's had a really like tough upbringing
- 22:05with that family. Like I can't even imagine.
- 22:07And after just meeting the mom this season, you're kind of
- 22:10like, oh God, this kid had it even worse than I thought he had
- 22:12it with the damn. So I don't know.
- 22:16I think that, I don't know, I don't want to spoil anything,
- 22:19but I'm really pumped to see how just took place in the last
- 22:24episode unfolds and I think. We're current.
- 22:28I think that it will be. I just think it's going to be
- 22:31exciting and it's going to bring a lot of those kind of smaller
- 22:34characters who have had like little side eye rolls to the
- 22:37forefront. So I can't wait to see how they
- 22:40solve that issue together without the help of Lloyd and
- 22:43your. I'm not sure if they come in or
- 22:45not but pretty pumped with that. It feels like it's getting a bit
- 22:49more ensemble anime now, which is quite fun.
- 22:54And it also does this really good thing in terms of its
- 22:56character development, where every every character is more
- 23:00complex than you initially think.
- 23:03So it doesn't, it pulls heavily from like, spy tropes, but it
- 23:08hasn't. It has a bit more kind of Shades
- 23:10of Grey in there as well, which is, yeah, lovely.
- 23:13That old psychic child trope. It's 5 films.
- 23:19And I've I've been dying waiting to say this is my favorite
- 23:22character cuz I can't actually remember his name but elegant.
- 23:27Yeah, a teacher. I love him and he's got Anya.
- 23:32Like he's got a lot on his hands even just like at the rest of
- 23:36the classmates. Just dealing with Anya alone and
- 23:38how to like categorize her is just, it's awesome.
- 23:42Yeah, I like the Oh my gosh, is it Roz Bell, the little girl
- 23:48who's Anya's like best friend Becky, Becky, but her last
- 23:51anyway, that love her and I have to also throw in Frankie.
- 23:55I love Frankie. Because I think that I think his
- 23:57character arc is also been picking up as we kind of got
- 24:00through, you know, this season especially.
- 24:03I liked his last, oh, cosplay in this.
- 24:08Like I think it was like the last it said yeah I thought that
- 24:10was or maybe it was 2 episodes ago, I can't remember, but I
- 24:13thought that was pretty cool. Yeah, yeah, it's genuinely also
- 24:19the kid. The kids in this, I think are
- 24:21the like standout characters because they're so
- 24:24heartwarmingly cute and they are kids.
- 24:27Not there's no like trying to pretend to be kids, but you do
- 24:30see them trying to emulate. So one of the things I really
- 24:33love is when Anya's like basically setting herself a
- 24:36mission of like, how do I make this a real family?
- 24:40So she's kind of and she's like picking up on on everyone's
- 24:43thoughts around her. And so it becomes like her own
- 24:46personal spy mission, which is secondary to like the job that
- 24:51they're there to do, which is great.
- 24:53What about you, Chris? Who's your favorite character?
- 24:57He Lloyd because he's a development as well, because
- 24:59when he First off, because we only watched the first three.
- 25:03Well, I only watched the first 3 episodes.
- 25:05Well, was meant to and then got episode 8.
- 25:08And so obviously I'm going to continue it.
- 25:11But it starts off and he's like, oh, I don't want a family.
- 25:13And then he just instantly warms to it.
- 25:15And you're like, yeah, he's a likable, growable character.
- 25:18And I want to see where it where it leads him and how he
- 25:21navigates having a kid in these in his profession as well.
- 25:27I kind. Of also love, I mean.
- 25:29Oh sorry, crack on. I've got a 5 year old now.
- 25:31I wouldn't take him into work. He'd be all over, starting
- 25:35fires, everything, yeah. Yeah, to be fair, your work is a
- 25:39very dangerous place for a 5 year old so.
- 25:48In so in like favorite characters, were there any
- 25:52characters that you wanted to see less or more of?
- 25:55So we've talked a bit about like some of the kids.
- 25:57You're starting to see kind of a bit more Desmond, you're
- 25:59starting to see a bit more of him as well.
- 26:02Was there anywhere, anyone, if you had like the cutting room
- 26:05shares, who are you cutting? Who are you kind of putting more
- 26:08in? My my immediate answer to that
- 26:13would be. Fiona.
- 26:14Oh, I would just want us like cut them longer and cut them
- 26:18fast because I get I hate the cliffhangers and I the I feel
- 26:24like the series and I could be totally wrong, but I feel like
- 26:27the series is driving to a point where we'll eventually have
- 26:30them, you know, coalesce as an actual family and they'll be
- 26:34kind of caught in the crossfire between West and east.
- 26:37And like, I feel like that's going to be our like big ending
- 26:40arc. And it'll be like that may be
- 26:42escaping together and Lloyd and you're will finally kind of
- 26:45recognize what each other are and kind of come together and
- 26:50like they kind of use their skills together now.
- 26:52But it's always by accident where you know, once over here,
- 26:54once over there, like an actual genuine team up between the two
- 26:59where they're like using both their powers at the same time.
- 27:02OK, so I'm sorry, here's a good question.
- 27:05So if you agree, oh if you had your pick, would you prefer to
- 27:11see you could say neither. Either The R and Lloyd discover
- 27:16first that they have feelings for each other and develop like
- 27:18a romantic relationship, or discover first that they are
- 27:23each basically having these secret identities.
- 27:27Oh, oh, I think I would want the Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
- 27:30I'd want them to have the feelings 1st and then they
- 27:32discover the secret identities. I think that's more well, I love
- 27:38this series and I want it to go for longer and I think you can
- 27:40sustain that more. I think the I actually think the
- 27:43moment that they discover who each other's true identities,
- 27:46that's you're right. There is a kind of like that's
- 27:48the trajectory into whatever the end is.
- 27:54And there is also something about that I really love is, is
- 27:57how long can you hold the suspense of something?
- 28:01And I think it takes a real skill to have.
- 28:04Like, it's basically the punchline that they're never
- 28:07giving you for a joke that they keep making and is still funny
- 28:10in Season 2 as it was in Season 1.
- 28:15So yeah, I think I'd want to see feelings 1st.
- 28:17And then but also I kind of, there is part of me that's like,
- 28:21like, I'm here for their romance.
- 28:22But what I really want is for them to look after this little
- 28:25girl with like, genuine love. And, like, I want to see them
- 28:28fall in love as parents more than I want to see them fall in
- 28:33love with each other in a way, because it's like Anne Anya's
- 28:36just had like, such, like, AI don't know.
- 28:39You just want to see her find her place.
- 28:44Yeah. It's about that.
- 28:45I didn't even consider that. I was just considering their
- 28:48feelings. I was just I want them to
- 28:51discover their identity, then fall in love.
- 28:55I thought you want to do it the opposite way.
- 28:56Why would you do it the opposite way?
- 28:58I don't know because then they can be completely honest with
- 29:01each other when they fall in love, as opposed to fall in love
- 29:06with each other's identities at the portrayal.
- 29:10Nice, I like how you're taking this from like a that would be
- 29:14the healthier relationship to have is like don't start off on
- 29:17a lie and I'm just like lie to each other but fall in love.
- 29:22And I just, I went down I think it was like 5 years ago, the
- 29:27romance anime Train. Like I must have binge watched
- 29:32I-20 of these series in the space of two weeks.
- 29:35And it's funny because when you do, you know the tropes, you
- 29:40know what's coming, and you know they're going to drag it out as
- 29:43long as they possibly can. Like you were just describing.
- 29:46And yet still you're here for it.
- 29:48You're like, yeah, I love this pain.
- 29:51Like make it last long. See how?
- 29:54Will they? Won't they?
- 29:55It's how Will they? How?
- 29:58Will they when? See, me and Phoebe started this
- 30:03because we wanted to, because I'm.
- 30:04I'm setting me shown and and be Death Note or, you know, stuff
- 30:10like that I haven't experienced. Yeah, but I wanted to branch
- 30:16out. And I think we kind of watched a
- 30:18romance one for the first time, which would have been my first
- 30:22because it's it's diabetes. Months of thought it'd be funny
- 30:24to watch an anime called Iwani Pancreas.
- 30:27And it was it was all right. I don't know if I'll get into
- 30:32more of them, but I'm glad that I tried one.
- 30:36I would. I'd quite like to watch one
- 30:38where the like main character doesn't die tragically young.
- 30:45Anime. That's right.
- 30:46I haven't seen that one, but I I've heard enough.
- 30:49I've heard enough. I know that it will destroy me.
- 30:51Much like you're lying, April, like you just dove head first
- 30:54into the most painful romance anime.
- 30:59Talk about emotional damage. Step aside, Berserk.
- 31:01We're here to break your heart. The romance anime.
- 31:06No, Yes. Well, anybody cases that you
- 31:08will never recover from, right? Yeah.
- 31:11It's a pad that makes us want to watch it now, yeah.
- 31:15But actually I, I think we should add April to our list
- 31:18because it's, I've been seeing, I've been seeing Instagram
- 31:22stories about it and I'm like, maybe.
- 31:24Right, right. Definitely wait until April and
- 31:27then all you'll yelled hard to everybody do it the month before
- 31:30at March and then you'll be able to participate in all the posts
- 31:33that come in April. Everyone's like, it's that time
- 31:35for me to just destroy my heart yet again.
- 31:37And the yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:40There's nothing like communal heartbreak.
- 31:43Yes, yes, shared suffering. You know I will.
- 31:46That's because the Rockets, rockets and we were all good
- 31:50friends in real life very close before filming.
- 31:53We'd work together. We were friends for a while then
- 31:56filming this movie. Yes, it was fun, but yes, it was
- 31:59also an insane grueling amount of work.
- 32:02And the shared suffering aspect, like we really, really bonded
- 32:06it. Not just the whole indie film,
- 32:10you know, crew. It's like, yeah, you, you go
- 32:12through something insanely grueling like that with that
- 32:15much passion as well, where everyone's putting everything
- 32:17they have out there and how can you not get extra close?
- 32:21It's very, I think make, as you say, it's very make or break
- 32:25when you're actually working with your friends because you
- 32:27can get on someone with someone amazingly, but as soon as you
- 32:31have to sit beside them and do something productive with them,
- 32:34it's a real test of whether you want to see this person again.
- 32:39Yeah. No, absolutely.
- 32:40Why are you looking at me? No reason.
- 32:44There's a reason that we're 300 miles away from each other.
- 32:51Yeah. I used to work in doing theatre
- 32:54shows, and it would always be like the closing night.
- 32:56You'd always have this, like, moment of like, Oh my God, we'll
- 32:58never see each. It'll never be the same again.
- 33:01And of course you then worked. You will work together on
- 33:04another play like a year later. You're like.
- 33:07Closing. Chapter though of a reality.
- 33:09Yeah. Together and you know it will
- 33:11never be the same until, like you said, it's time to start the
- 33:14next production. Yeah.
- 33:17Can I ask how many of the cast had were like into anime when
- 33:20you started? Was it was it just Kyle or did
- 33:26or were there a few others? I was already and Manny, Manny
- 33:30was he was more of a gamer, but Manny was as well.
- 33:33Christian had from growing. Dragon Balls.
- 33:36He was a Dragon Ball Z fan and a St.
- 33:38Saya. Saint Saya fan growing up and
- 33:40I'm sure he like St. Saya was like his ride or die if
- 33:47he had to like only watch one anime for the rest of his life
- 33:50and be St. Saya without even a question.
- 33:53Yeah, I don't. I don't know if I don't think
- 33:55I'd ever watched anime, but I feel like Punky is always open
- 33:58minded and down for anything. I don't.
- 34:00Think she is like a real life anime character.
- 34:02She's really like the coolest. I don't know.
- 34:05She can walk into any room I know anyone and somehow be the
- 34:09center of attention and everyone would be laughing and having a
- 34:11better time as soon as they meet her.
- 34:13She's like way cooler in real life than she is in the film.
- 34:17Like by 1000? She's funnier, she's pretty
- 34:19cool. In the film as well, though, she
- 34:21has some like she has some proper moments.
- 34:25I agree. It's it's insane.
- 34:27Yeah. I I echo Kyle.
- 34:29We have introduced her to so many friends and family members.
- 34:32And it doesn't matter who she's with, where they're from, what
- 34:35they're all about. They leave and they're like,
- 34:37want to be best friends with her.
- 34:38I love her. We need to, like, protect her.
- 34:40I want to see her again. Yeah, yeah, that's so lovely.
- 34:46It's nice to have. It's it's nice to have that
- 34:49experience with friends where you're like, oh, you just these
- 34:51people can slot in anywhere. It's a real skill.
- 34:57So in terms of like obviously we've we've all watched past
- 35:01episode 3. I think we can safely say that.
- 35:03So we are saying, yes, we would recommend this wholeheartedly
- 35:06and excitedly to other people in terms of the current series.
- 35:12And I think this is where we can like, we'll put a spoiler alert
- 35:15for people coming, like skip ahead 10 minutes or something.
- 35:18Where do you want to see this anime go?
- 35:20What's your kind of like hopes before it closes in the current
- 35:24season? Oh my God, I think, I mean, I
- 35:28obviously want to see the end of the arc that we just started,
- 35:33you know, and however that resolves apart from that, I
- 35:41don't know. I mean it would be.
- 35:44I want to see Anya make waves in terms of the Second Sun plan.
- 35:49I want to see Lloyd like so surprised by how she's like
- 35:54weaseled her way into either like their house or gotten a
- 35:58meeting with the family. I want her to really, you know,
- 36:01show up and accomplish it in some way, make make big moves in
- 36:06that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:08I like the idea. I think it'd be nice to see her
- 36:13kind of, I kind of want to see, I always want to see her
- 36:16outsmart everyone because she when she has those moments where
- 36:18she's just like 2 steps ahead of everyone, you're like, Oh yes,
- 36:23go. And but, but also we'd like a
- 36:25kind of, there's like a naivety to the way she thinks because
- 36:28it's just like child thought, child logic, which is really
- 36:33sweet. So apart from seeing obviously
- 36:36the conclusion of the arc we just started and, you know,
- 36:39seeing the relationship between Desmond and Anya kind of grow a
- 36:42little bit, I would like to see her get a Stella or at least a
- 36:45tourist removed or something arc.
- 36:52Nice Chris on episode 8. Yeah, I didn't know something.
- 36:59It is the stuff I want to see though.
- 37:03Yeah, what's what's, what are your some of the hope?
- 37:06What are your hopes at Episode 8?
- 37:07Where do you want it to go? I just want to because I had I,
- 37:11it didn't really explain that much about the West alias and
- 37:14why he's a spy. I want to, I want to go back in
- 37:17that into that a bit more. I kind of want them to get found
- 37:21out a little bit as well. I think you're going to love the
- 37:27beginning of this car as three we're on now.
- 37:30Yeah. So you're going to love the
- 37:31beginning of this season, obviously, Definitely.
- 37:34Yeah. Definitely I've, I've got a,
- 37:36I've got a bit of time off, so I'm going to, I've got a lot of
- 37:38animate binge. I've always because we're just
- 37:40watching first 3 episodes and it says, Oh yeah, I'll go back to
- 37:43it. It always gets put on a list and
- 37:45then that list gets forgotten. So I this will be the time where
- 37:48I'll go back to this. It's like the blessing and the
- 37:52curse of doing a different anime every week.
- 37:54You're like, oh, that's a good one.
- 37:55Yeah, yeah, yeah. But then run out of hours.
- 37:59Yeah, especially being a parent as well, because some things you
- 38:03just can't watch your own kids, especially when that can repeat
- 38:05things from the telly. So yeah.
- 38:11Yeah, you don't. You don't know what that's like
- 38:13at all. Kids make life.
- 38:14Yeah, Yeah. I don't know why, but she's
- 38:19obsessed with our sparkling water bottles like ever since we
- 38:23I guess we drink a lot of sparkling water.
- 38:25So this is her number one boy and has to be made of glue.
- 38:29A very sharp, you know, edge top, of course.
- 38:33Oh, the worst thing for a baby to hold.
- 38:36That's the thing. Yeah.
- 38:38That's one thing they want. Yeah, yeah.
- 38:43Oh, so sweet. OK and then my my last question
- 38:47is that OK, you're in the world of spy family.
- 38:52What do you think your code name is and what's your like
- 38:56specialism? Like talk to me about your anime
- 38:58persona. So if you were going to self
- 39:01insert your into spy family. OK, well, we were kind of joking
- 39:08about this a bit before because I was like, I could be
- 39:11moonlight, but I think I'll go a little bit farther off the mark
- 39:15and I'll say sunshine be mine. Yeah, a little play on twilight
- 39:22there. I'm going to take a pause and
- 39:24think about my special. So I would be.
- 39:27I like. But sorry.
- 39:29Oh, no, sorry. I was just going to say I like
- 39:30Sunshine as a code name because there's no way that that can be
- 39:34sinister it at all. So it kind of drifts under the
- 39:36radar in a way, in a way that she's good.
- 39:38Sorry, Carla interrupted you. What you were saying?
- 39:40Oh no, you're fine, you're fine. I was going to say my code name
- 39:43would be and would be dependent on, you know, what role I was
- 39:47taking on, but the code name would still stick.
- 39:49It'd be Mr. Mustache and the Master of Disguise is super
- 39:57strength. Oh, OK.
- 39:59Nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:02A little bit of a bit of, you know, a Full Metal Alchemist nod
- 40:08there. OK, I'm going to give myself the
- 40:11power of friendship and I can disarm.
- 40:15I can disarm even the most deadly of opponents with my
- 40:19natural charisma and charm because they.
- 40:21And your wits? Yeah.
- 40:22And the diplomacy? Kind of, yeah.
- 40:27Sunshine's walking in, playing poker.
- 40:29Meanwhile, Master of disguise has infiltrated the kitchens.
- 40:33Mr. Marshall, she's on the move. Perfect.
- 40:36Oh, Mr. Chris Sass was on the move.
- 40:40I think she didn't think you were going to hear today, Chris,
- 40:48what's your, what's your code name and is it Pyre based?
- 40:53Of course, something welding based M Bright.
- 40:57Spock. Oh, OK.
- 41:01And something to do. It's going to have to be
- 41:04something gadget related because I'm 54 and put pudgy so.
- 41:12You need the technological ascents.
- 41:14Yeah, yeah, I need all the help I can get.
- 41:17Yeah, yeah. And.
- 41:18These full inches on me, you're towering.
- 41:24Chris, you're tall. Finally.
- 41:26I know, I know, but. I think you might actually have
- 41:29three 3 or 4 inches on her. Hey hey 52 according to IMDb
- 41:35layoff me. We're taking that as the gospel.
- 41:42Yeah, and my weight's still at 185 lbs.
- 41:45Absolutely. Well, you're 29 and slow, right?
- 41:50Perpetually. Perfect.
- 41:53Of course, have been for years doing very well in it.
- 41:59I literally, yeah. I think I'd like to go for like,
- 42:02you know, the people who are in the rooms with all the screens
- 42:04and they're kind of monitoring the spies.
- 42:06I want to be that person who like, at some point in a
- 42:08dramatic moment, like, slams their hands on the table and
- 42:11goes, God damn it, bright spot, get your shit together.
- 42:18So I think I'd have like just like some sort of like code
- 42:20letter, just like P And then that would be funny because.
- 42:24You don't want to be pee. I do it.
- 42:32Makes just that much better. Perfect.
- 42:34I think it does. I think it underscores the
- 42:37seriousness because I think in this world I wouldn't giggle at
- 42:42everything. I'd be like a hard ass.
- 42:44I'd be all serious all the time. It reminds me of James Bond like
- 42:48Q. Yeah, I would like to see like
- 42:51AQ to M kind of situation. That's the kind of situation I'm
- 42:54going for. Is there?
- 42:56Yeah, Yeah, for sure. The John Cleese of the of the
- 43:01spy family, he plays Q don't look at me like that.
- 43:07He's Q in the Pierce Brosnan bonds.
- 43:10Here I was, I met M In my mind I was describing Q and I'm getting
- 43:14my letters mixed up so you know P will fit.
- 43:16That's OK, this is fine. Just to like, pick a letter in
- 43:20the alphabet. I'll be that one.
- 43:23You were thinking more like Judi Dench.
- 43:26Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I could do that too.
- 43:29I although I feel like Judi Dench would never, never swear.
- 43:31She's too like she'd have like a, you know, some Shakespearean
- 43:35monologue to dress you down instead.
- 43:38And it would feel so much worse. 100%.
- 43:42Sure, I've heard Judi Dench swear.
- 43:46Oh my God, Chris, you can't say that that's treason.
- 43:53Oh no, The Kingsmen not. The Kingsmen will come for you,
- 43:57not national treasure. Judi Dench.
- 44:01She and Dame, because if not, she should be.
- 44:04She is, yeah. Yeah, she is.
- 44:06She's OBE, I think so like for for honors, for entertainment.
- 44:12More or less. More or less, yeah.
- 44:17Yeah, she's M She's OBE. Working up to 26.
- 44:21Just give her give her other roles should be there.
- 44:27Yeah, exactly. So that was last question.
- 44:32Any kind of closing thoughts on Spy family?
- 44:34Anything you want to leave the people with in terms of
- 44:37encouraging people to go check out anime?
- 44:40Any sideways recommendations like a if you like this, try
- 44:44this Oh. Spy Family, I'd say.
- 44:49I don't know. There's probably more of Beer
- 44:50Alley because I would throw them in a totally different
- 44:53direction. Oh, where would you throw them?
- 44:58So I would say that, man, I'm really into the IT just came
- 45:04out. I can't pronounce it for the
- 45:05life of me, Gart. Gabachaga, or.
- 45:07Something Bachaga got Chikuza chikuza.
- 45:11Thank you. Just been watching that, how to?
- 45:13Pronounce it. We're going to do that in a
- 45:17couple of weeks. I'm excited.
- 45:19Yeah. Oh nice.
- 45:20I would kind of throw that in as like a sideway recommendation
- 45:23because it has the same dynamic with like, you know, you've got
- 45:26younger characters, right? Our protagonist in that is, you
- 45:30know, a younger kid. We've got some really cool kind
- 45:33of not really psychic powers, but you've got some, you know,
- 45:36special power situation going on.
- 45:39And it's kind of his relationship with, I don't know
- 45:42if you guys have watched it yet or but you know, it has a lot to
- 45:45do with his relationship and a mentorship with kind of, you
- 45:48know, an older, more seasoned kind of Lloyd esque, you know,
- 45:53character. So his name is engine in the
- 45:57show. But anyway, it's I found it to
- 45:59be a really fun series. Like it totally caught me off
- 46:02guard. We actually started watching it.
- 46:04We had done an interview like 2 weeks ago, someone had
- 46:07recommended it and I was like, oh, to check it out.
- 46:09And it did not disappoint at all.
- 46:12OK, I have mine and actually I'm so glad that you asked that
- 46:15question because I forgot how good this one was.
- 46:18Buddy daddies just had to remember and look up the name.
- 46:21Have you heard of this? No I haven't, but I sounds like
- 46:25something that I will love. I swear it's like the same thing
- 46:28when Hollywood has got like 2 films that come out at the same
- 46:31time and they're like basically the same plot.
- 46:32Like friends with benefits or what the it's no.
- 46:36I have seen this and I have seen this and there's like a yeah,
- 46:41there's like a blonde one and a dark haired one.
- 46:43Yeah, yeah. And they're both trying to raise
- 46:45a kid. Yeah, yeah.
- 46:46Yes, and the two of them there are two spies happen to, you
- 46:50know, come upon this girl. I won't give anything away but
- 46:52it's a little girl that they then become the like parental
- 46:55figure figures for cuz she has no one else and they're still
- 46:59continuing to be spies. And I watched that following Spy
- 47:03Family season 1, I think because I needed more of the similar
- 47:06type tapes. While I wouldn't say that it was
- 47:09on the level of Spy Family, I thought it was charming and fun
- 47:12and I really loved it, so I would recommend that.
- 47:16And for any of you out there who love Anya and spy family and in
- 47:22love with her in the 1st 2 episodes, there's a little known
- 47:25anime. The adaptations aren't great,
- 47:28it's called Berserk and I would highly feel like it's gonna have
- 47:32a lot of similar feels. Heartfelt.
- 47:36You're Eagle. I thought you actually were
- 47:39gonna lead us into thought no. Of Tanya the Eagle.
- 47:41That's another grind. Yeah, that's you caught.
- 47:45Thorough. Woods.
- 47:46Towers, that's a better. That's a better part.
- 47:49If you send people from spy family to Berserk, you are a
- 47:52cruel man. It's like a touch of sadism for
- 47:57that. Yeah.
- 48:00For me it has to be like a. Year.
- 48:03Yeah, Mr. Mustache, Is he working for the bad guys?
- 48:06Is he a double agent? What's going on?
- 48:11Sakamoto days for me would be the one that I would send people
- 48:15to from this because it's a similar kind of except for it's
- 48:18not spies, it's yakuza assassins.
- 48:22Love it. But it's also got the one of my
- 48:25favorite my new favorite tropes, which is man in 30s struggles to
- 48:31cope with being middle-aged but also is like Opie.
- 48:36Yeah. And it's like Madden 30s who
- 48:38think you think has given up on his dreams.
- 48:43I. Love that in Kaiju #8.
- 48:46I love it and I love it in Sakamoto days.
- 48:48So it's. I can't believe where they left
- 48:51Kaiju #8 at the end of this last season.
- 48:53I didn't know the season ended either, so I kept coming back
- 48:56every week because, you know, sometimes they skip.
- 48:58Maybe they're just taking a little break.
- 49:00No, no, no, no. They also started it in such a
- 49:02delightful way as well with the like the day off kind of energy
- 49:07and they that completely floored me that they then go from that
- 49:11into utter devastation. Complete.
- 49:16Like. Absolute chaos.
- 49:17Learn us in I'm so glad you said Kaiju #8, because when you're
- 49:20describing the middle age, like in the 30s, you thought the man
- 49:24had given up by his dreams. I'm like, oh, Kaiju #8, you had
- 49:27a. Kaiju #8 Yeah, yeah.
- 49:30There's like a theme emerging for me, and I think it's that
- 49:32I'm secretly a a middle-aged man giving up on their dreams.
- 49:38I love it. And then that leads me to think
- 49:41about solo levelling, just because it came out when prize
- 49:43#8 around the same time, first seasons.
- 49:46And that one's just a banger, too.
- 49:48Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's a bit of a sleeper
- 49:50hit for me because at first I was like, I'm not sure, but it
- 49:53builds, I think. And I think that's one way if
- 49:56you need to watch the first 3 episodes before you make a
- 50:00judgement call on it for sure. Yeah, absolutely.
- 50:04Yeah, sorry. He is becoming sorry.
- 50:07And he is. Becoming your sound technician
- 50:09now. Yeah, don't do it.
- 50:13I think that's a good place to wrap.
- 50:14I think Anya's, Anya's, Anya's ready to go.
- 50:17She's like, we've got a cast party to get to.
- 50:21Let's wrap up you. Hear there's sangria, there's
- 50:23milk for me. It's great, yeah.
- 50:26Yeah, I'm gonna dance the night away.
- 50:29Mom, let's go. I'm.
- 50:30Not gonna watch Turk? Not till she's 16 at least.
- 50:38She can. She can handle it at 14130 God
- 50:41maybe 12. OK.
- 50:42Now, when it comes to dating, Kyle's like, yeah, you can wait
- 50:45till you're like 30. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:48Probably different. Watch Turk and then make your
- 50:50mind up about men. That's true.
- 50:53I can use it as a scare tactic. I love this.
- 50:56Parenting lessons. Fantastic.
- 51:01Fabulous. Well, thank you both so much for
- 51:04giving us some time in your day. We'll we'll let you go because
- 51:06obviously Anya's anya's on the move again.
- 51:09Yeah. Thanks very much.
- 51:12Thank you both so much, absolutely fantastic.
- 51:15Listen, Phoebe, thank you for having us.
- 51:17I mean, we could aside from her, we could sit here and talk anime
- 51:20all day with you guys. Thank you so much for having.
- 51:23It's a thank you. No, it's a pleasure.
- 51:26Yeah. We just like to talk about
- 51:27cartoons with cool people. So it's, yeah, it's easy.
- 51:32Bye. Sweet.
- 51:35Thank you guys for having us. And if you ever are looking for
- 51:38more guests, Anya is throwing her hat in the ring first.
- 51:41We'll be close, you know, hopefully second and third.
- 51:43Yeah, yeah, I'm back. She's like bring this down for
- 51:47my close up, let's go. Thank you.
- 51:53Thank you and. We, we just, we have her on
- 51:56stream just because we know it's great for the numbers, you know,
- 51:58adds a little bit of. Movie I I'm still going with our
- 52:04Sunshine and Mr. Mustache. Are they?
- 52:07And are they not spies with their daughter Anya?
- 52:10Just We'll leave it at that. Yeah, I think that's perfect.
