- 0:00For a minute, I mean, seriously, I'll, I'll just read to you from
- 0:04the actual poll itself. In the Democratic primary for
- 0:07the US House of Representatives in Maine Second District, 23% of
- 0:10likely voters say their first choice would be former
- 0:13congressional aide Jordan Wood. Jordan Wood.
- 0:18If the primary were held today, 22% would say Joe Baldacci, 17%
- 0:24would say Maine State Auditor Matt Dunlap, and 14% would vote
- 0:28for apparently Paige Loud, which is the other candidate running
- 0:33there, while less than 1% would vote for another candidate.
- 0:37Wood is the most personally popular candidate among the
- 0:40Democratic primary voters in CD, 240% of the people who answered
- 0:45the poll have a favorable opinion of Wood, 8% have an
- 0:49unfavorable favorable opinion, and 24% are neutral. 27% don't
- 0:53know enough about him to say yielding in that favorability of
- 0:56plus 32. Dunlap is the next most popular
- 1:00with a + 25 rating, followed by Loudon Baldacci, both at 13 and
- 1:0512 respectively. I mean, come on, does anybody
- 1:09believe that? Does anybody believe that?
- 1:13And I, I chose this one specifically to talk about
- 1:15briefly before I go back to the calls and do more phones just to
- 1:19try to justify my constant criticism of the polling you're
- 1:25getting in Maine. Because it seems like every poll
- 1:26that comes out, Matt says something like this poll is crap
- 1:31and you shouldn't really watch it or listen to it.
- 1:32This is really, really unreliable.
- 1:34This is bad. This they're they're doing it
- 1:36wrong or some version of that. And I feel kind of guilty saying
- 1:40that because it just sounds like I'm a pole doubter now.
- 1:42And I suppose in some respects I am because they have such a
- 1:45terrible track record. But I guess the real point here
- 1:49is that they just can't give me anything that I can say anything
- 1:54positive about. No one in this planet believes
- 1:57that Jordan would has 23% of the vote in the Democratic primary
- 2:01for CD2. It's the wrong district for him.
- 2:04He's barely doing any media. The other candidates are
- 2:06attracting all the media attention.
- 2:08They're attracting all the voter attention.
- 2:10They're attracting all the everybody attention.
- 2:12You know, it's really Baldacci and Dunlap that you really pay
- 2:15attention to. And Jordan Woods and also ran.
- 2:17But no, he's leading apparently and is the most popular among
- 2:21them. I mean, if that and I will
- 2:23happily eat my hat if that guy ends up winning or that result
- 2:27looks even remotely close to true when they actually start
- 2:31voting in that first round. I'll, I'll, I'll eat crow over
- 2:34it. I'm happy to do that, but I
- 2:36mean, come on, Not only is this the only pole that has ever
- 2:39shown anything like this, it also just flies directly in the
- 2:41face of what we anecdotally know about that that race.
- 2:44And then you start applying that same skepticism to everything
- 2:49else that's in these poles from the gubernatorial results on on
- 2:53down. And Plattner Collins, yes, I
- 2:56mean, it just strikes you as a very, very unreliable, mixed up,
- 3:00poorly designed pole again. And honestly, UNH is worse than
- 3:05Pan Atlantic to me and they always have been.
- 3:07They're not good at Maine. They're not, I don't know, I
- 3:09don't even think they're that good period.
- 3:11But they just can't do Maine right.
- 3:13And a Maine primary. Are you kidding?
- 3:15You guys should throw all this stuff in the trash bin.
- 3:18You really should. I suppose we have to cover it, I
- 3:22guess. But man, we shouldn't 'cause it
- 3:26sucks. It is not reliable.
- 3:28I mean, they, they have like 20 something percent independence
- 3:32as a respondent in the poll for primary elections.
- 3:36And we all know that the independence will be voting in
- 3:37this because of course they can. Now they can pick a party and
- 3:40they can pull a pull a ballot and they'll do it, but not 20%.
- 3:44It'll be more like 5-6 probably. So it's just everything about
- 3:48it's wrong. Everything about it's wrong.
