- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by Chinook Cedry. This is episode 556.
- 0:20I'll be your host, Kyle Corwin. I'm here with my Co host on
- 0:24trade deadline day. Nate Good Lord, man, just trying
- 0:32to keep up. I mean, there's, there are fake.
- 0:38The fake ones are I? Bro, I just saw MLB on Fox just
- 0:45tweeted out Joe Ryan has been traded to the Red Sox.
- 0:49Seconds later, it gets pulled. What are we doing, man?
- 0:55This trade devil, Hey, you know, props of props of baseball,
- 0:59props of Major League Baseball. It's been a heck of a trade
- 1:03deadline. I'll give them that.
- 1:06But like, at this very moment, we're in crunch time and I'm
- 1:12getting I'm getting reports pulled out from underneath me.
- 1:15This is crazy. You sure it wasn't MLB on fax?
- 1:20No bro, I checked when I see MLB, yes when I see an MLB on
- 1:25Fox tweet, I triple checked to make sure it's not MLB on fax.
- 1:29This was MLB on FOX. Seconds later it got pulled.
- 1:34Unbelievable. But holy cow what a deadline.
- 1:38Man. We have so much to talk about
- 1:40and, and quite, quite honestly, not enough time.
- 1:47We, like I said before we hopped on, we're just flying by the
- 1:49seat of our pants right now. So we, there's really no
- 1:52direction here. We can just get right into it.
- 1:54Let me start by asking you because I know you've been I I
- 2:01got to tip my cap to you, my friend.
- 2:03You've been dialed in today. I've I feel like I've done well.
- 2:06Yeah, I've been very impressed. So let me start.
- 2:09Let me start by asking you what has really moved the needle most
- 2:14for you today or I mean we can call it the last couple days,
- 2:17but like I mean we'll get into some of the, the more we'll call
- 2:20it outdated moves from the last few days, hopefully later.
- 2:23But in terms of today, we'll just say today what has really
- 2:26moved the needle for you? I'd say 2, like I, I feel like
- 2:36there's two that are really high for me.
- 2:38And to be honest, like it could be this could be outdated in 5
- 2:43minutes, I don't know. But the, the one late last
- 2:47night, Geno Suarez to the Mariners was like, look, let's,
- 2:50let's face it, like I, I understand there's been a flurry
- 2:53of deals today, specifically in the last few hours, but like we
- 2:56can't just overlook that Geno Suarez was the the number one
- 3:00power bat on the market. And for for what seems to be
- 3:06like this weird stretch over the last few years of the Mariners
- 3:11just not really getting their pitching staff is the offensive
- 3:15support that they need. There's glaring holes in their
- 3:18lineup. They they've done really, really
- 3:21well. I love that they went and got
- 3:23Josh Naylor earlier in the deadline.
- 3:25And then now it's like you got to you got to give them some
- 3:29credit for going and getting their guy.
- 3:32And I don't know, maybe there's something about the, you know,
- 3:35sneaking it in on the West Coast late last night because I think
- 3:39it was like after midnight last night, Eastern Time, right?
- 3:41So I like that. So you're taking, you're taking
- 3:46my question very literally then like?
- 3:48To that dude, I think that's like, I guess that's true.
- 3:51That's true. Yeah, I I would say that.
- 3:56And then honestly, the, the Mason Miller deal, I just
- 4:00didn't, I, I, I heard that name a few times.
- 4:05And I wonder if the if the A's were just like, you know what,
- 4:09hearing what these teams are getting for relievers, we got to
- 4:14hop in the mix here and. They did.
- 4:20They did. They said here we go, let's get
- 4:23in. And I'm sure they're not done
- 4:26because Severino's got to go right?
- 4:28And I don't know, minutes. We could go anywhere, we could
- 4:32go any direction with this. But those are probably my 2, my
- 4:38two favorite deals specifically for what they mean to those
- 4:42contenders. Because the Padres now like that
- 4:45bullpen is no. Joke dude, so many, so many
- 4:50bullpens were upgraded to this deadline and to the point where
- 4:55multiple, multiple bullpens became instant threats come post
- 5:02season time almost overnight. Like you, you had some bullpens
- 5:06that were doing all right, but really upgraded like really, you
- 5:09know, bolstered it. And then you had some that were
- 5:13just like, yeah, this is a massive need for us.
- 5:15We need to, we need to make some, some moves here.
- 5:17And they did. And some of these bullpens or
- 5:23are going to give nightmares come October.
- 5:26I mean, what, what do you want to do?
- 5:27How do you, I know we're we didn't really discuss structure
- 5:30with this. It's probably going to be
- 5:32interrupted by reports in the middle.
- 5:37But like, do you want to kind of run through and just like grade
- 5:39some of these moves and just give it like a quick reaction
- 5:44letter grade? Yeah, I mean, we can do that.
- 5:48Let's let's, I'm following trade trackers as they're updated
- 5:53because like we said, I mean, stuff's happening.
- 5:54We, we, we timed it so that we could get the last trickling
- 6:01trades in and then, you know, maybe on the, on the other side
- 6:05of the deadline for half hour or so, get some, some moves.
- 6:08That it's always that 1015 minutes after that.
- 6:11Get reported after the fact, yeah.
- 6:14So yeah, let's, I'm, I'm just looking at the the trade track
- 6:17here. I mean, you mentioned the Mason
- 6:20Miller deal. Padres acquire Mason, Mason
- 6:22Miller and JP Sears from the A's.
- 6:24How do we how do we feel about the Padres once again showing
- 6:29that they're willing to do whatever it takes and to offload
- 6:34whatever it takes to make the moves that they feel, maybe not
- 6:37the rest of baseball, but the make the moves that they feel
- 6:41improve their chances of winning the World Series?
- 6:44I like it a lot, man. I really do.
- 6:48And I kind of heard the take, I don't remember from who on on
- 6:51MLB Network when I was watching it earlier is like I, I think
- 6:56because we all kind of give AJ Perler crap for like just saying
- 7:01screw it, like I'm going to move any and all prospects every
- 7:04year. But I think you could also look
- 7:08at it in a way and what this guy was mentioning is like there is
- 7:11a confidence in their development.
- 7:13There's a confidence in their scouting, like they're able to
- 7:16go and find these guys, you know what I mean?
- 7:19Like they're they're finding CJ Abrams, they're finding James
- 7:22Wood, they're finding Mackenzie Gore.
- 7:25They're like they're confident in saying, you know what, Like I
- 7:30understand we're giving up big prospects, but we can go find
- 7:33it. And let's face it, when you're
- 7:36committed to a Manny Machado, when you're committed to a
- 7:38Xander Bogarts, the way that you are, financially speaking, your
- 7:43window is now. It can't just be, I'm going to
- 7:49sit back on my hands and hope that the roster I configured at
- 7:51the beginning of the year does what it needs to do.
- 7:54So I got to give him credit for it.
- 7:56And it's just like I, I don't know why we're shocked every
- 7:58year. I think I was just more shocked
- 8:00at the fact that, like Mason Miller, I didn't think was
- 8:03necessarily available because he was a hard no last.
- 8:06Year, yeah, I think it's, I think, well, yeah, I think with
- 8:12the Padres being as aggressive as they were, you know,
- 8:15including Devries in that it sounded.
- 8:17For no, it's a win, win. Everything I hear Devries was
- 8:21gone regardless. He was either going to be, you
- 8:24know, pushed the envelope was going to be pushed and
- 8:27potentially move for Duran. A guy to the Padres were very
- 8:30much after and we're probably willing to to offer whatever
- 8:35they needed to to get a guy with control in Duran.
- 8:38But you know, they they they ship him out for Mason Miller.
- 8:41So one way or another, I think Devreeze was gone.
- 8:44So I mean that I think that's the take away obviously that
- 8:48that return. Yeah, I'm just getting into like
- 8:50what that or the, excuse me, that bullpen looks like.
- 8:52I mean, Mason Miller, Estrada Suarez, like there's pieces back
- 8:57there that are going to be they're going to be a problem
- 9:02real quick and we can move on from the Padres.
- 9:06At least there's only, you know, 15 ish minutes left is do you
- 9:10think Cease gets gets dealt because the Red Sox said no to a
- 9:14Cease deal that is rumored to have had to try and get Duran
- 9:19over to San Diego. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:22The last I saw was that the Astros were looking to close a
- 9:26deal on I. Saw that too.
- 9:27That was a while ago. It was like an hour ago when I
- 9:29saw that rumor. I.
- 9:32I unless somebody pivots or panics in the next 15 minutes at
- 9:36I feel like if Cecil was going to go, he would have already
- 9:38gone. Yeah, I I, I maybe, maybe not.
- 9:41I, I don't know. But I, you know, you mentioned
- 9:44the Astros. The Astros, in the meantime,
- 9:47went out and got their former shortstop, Carlos Correa.
- 9:54Nate, I know, I know you're going to hate this.
- 9:59I know you're going to hate this, but that Loki and people
- 10:04may disagree. This is actually one of my
- 10:06favorite deals at the deadline. Not going to say my favorite,
- 10:10but oh boy. I mean, come on now.
- 10:15I'm come on now. The Stroh's again, we talked to
- 10:20I mean, let's let's look at let's look at what we're dealing
- 10:22with right now in the American League West.
- 10:24They're currently up five games. As we mentioned, the Mariners
- 10:28let the West slip away weeks ago.
- 10:31The Astros have have sort of held pat.
- 10:35And I feel like something that maybe they were missing was a
- 10:38little bit of that edge that they once had.
- 10:40And I feel like going to get the guy that was the singular source
- 10:47of that edge only improves their chances of doing what they're
- 10:52hoping to accomplish this year. And that's that's huge.
- 10:56That's huge. And people can point it how how
- 10:58he performed in Minnesota, but something has to be said about a
- 11:03guy like that going back home. I mean, come on.
- 11:06Fully agree. This gives me if we weren't in
- 11:10the in the age of like immediate updates and like getting
- 11:13everything we need right to our phone or, you know, having
- 11:17access the way we do. Like it kind of brings me back
- 11:20to like when Rodger Clemens was in the booth saying and then
- 11:25there's like a new an announcement on the scoreboard
- 11:27in Yankee Stadium saying he's and he goes on the mic and he's
- 11:29like, I'm coming back. It kind of feels like like it's
- 11:33like when it's all said and done, I could honestly look that
- 11:40Carlos, Carlos Correa's career and just be like, that was just
- 11:43a blip in the radar when you were in Minnesota.
- 11:45You're going to go in the Hall. If you get in the Hall, you're
- 11:48going to be wearing an Astros hat.
- 11:49Do you know what I mean? It's the very least Astros, the
- 11:54Astros Hall of Fame, like, yeah, you're good.
- 11:56You're going to be there. You're going to be 100%.
- 11:59They're going to send out an invite the first, second.
- 12:01That's that's an option. 100% So by the way, we forgot to grade
- 12:05the Mason Miller trade. I'm going to go B plus on that.
- 12:16Well, I think if if what I was saying earlier was in fact the
- 12:19case about Devreeze being gone regardless, like it sounds like
- 12:22they were just kind of like, you know, you get money burning a
- 12:25hole in your pocket. Sounds like Devreeze was just
- 12:26burning a hole in their pocket. And they're like, we got to give
- 12:28this guy to somebody. And that's what the Padres do.
- 12:30So if if they're, you know, fire from the hip mentality, it's
- 12:35kind. Of like what, four years left of
- 12:37control? Devreeze No.
- 12:40No, no. Mason Miller.
- 12:41Oh, Mason Miller. I was like, what are we talking
- 12:45about? Four.
- 12:46Plus I think it's 4 after this year.
- 12:48Let's see, he's not a free agent until 2030.
- 12:54Five years of control, guy. That's pretty good.
- 12:59So well, four and four and change 4 plus.
- 13:03Yeah, 4 plus. Yeah, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go
- 13:07B plus. I mean, again, the breeze is the
- 13:10the sticking point here for a lot of people.
- 13:11But yeah, now, now is your time. Like you, you got to, you got to
- 13:15go. I'll go Correa.
- 13:17I'm going to give ABI like the move.
- 13:20I think there's some edge there. I'm just curious of like Red Sox
- 13:25are getting dust in May from the Dodgers.
- 13:30Wow, Stuff is just OK B on Carlos Correa.
- 13:34I think there's vibes that are involved, but like overall, what
- 13:37kind of performance are we going to get?
- 13:39And the Astros still need to go get a starter.
- 13:41Like they need starting pitching depth.
- 13:44So this can't be the number one move for the Astros, OK?
- 13:48So many moves man, I love this. Live reaction Dustin made of the
- 13:52Red Sox Go. If you would have asked me this
- 13:56before this year, I would have been so amped.
- 13:59A little bit of a pedestrian year, I believe this year, but
- 14:06you know, rotation depth got like guys that have, you know,
- 14:11shown you at at various times and maybe for decimae infrequent
- 14:15times what they're capable of doing.
- 14:17I think I think decimae will will fit in well.
- 14:20I would like one more sort of front end arm to supplement
- 14:27that. And then I think I think that
- 14:30would be quite, quite the the deadline for the the Sox.
- 14:34But Padres getting Nestor Cortez from the Brewers, Sandia Contra
- 14:44staying in Miami. Whack dude.
- 14:47A lot of a lot of LS, a lot of LS around base part now like.
- 14:51We'll get into some LS because we we need to pass out some LS
- 14:54if, if there's nothing coming in the next 9 minutes for teams,
- 14:58all right? We mentioned, we mentioned
- 15:00Suarez. I mean, that's.
- 15:05Bailey Falter to the Royals there.
- 15:07There's going to be so many deals we can't we won't be able
- 15:10to get. To just because of our.
- 15:12Our time crunch that we're on, but Philly's acquiring Duron as
- 15:18their new closer. I'm a little jealous, to be
- 15:29honest. I'm going to say I'm going to
- 15:31say a minus because of the need that the Phillies had.
- 15:36This was the need. They kind of took a took a half
- 15:42court shot and Jordan Romano in the offseason and it missed and
- 15:45that's OK. Like that was a that was a buy
- 15:47low, you know, low risk, high reward scenario.
- 15:50And it's just it didn't work out.
- 15:53But shout out this prediction, by the way, because I was on
- 15:58Beyond the Bank podcast last week.
- 16:00Then I I said Duran. I actually said Duran and Bader.
- 16:04I don't know if it was on the recording, but when we finished
- 16:07because it cut off, I was talking to them.
- 16:09I was like, Yo, I've I'm hearing Bader to the Phillies would be
- 16:13kind of a vibe. Like that's a good vibe.
- 16:15Guy doesn't have to play every day but like has good.
- 16:18Hold on, you're saying, you're saying Duran was your
- 16:21prediction? And well, when I hold on, when I
- 16:24said Bader, they were like and I was like, what if Duran is in
- 16:27that? What if Johan Duran is in
- 16:29involved with that same move? And they were like, well, yeah,
- 16:31let's go with that then. So but the Phillies end up
- 16:34getting both. So check and check off the
- 16:39record. You can text Henry.
- 16:40You can double check on that. Yeah, I know that's that would
- 16:46be ideal. Like, like I said, I was Jelly.
- 16:51I'm going to need you to stop stealing my grades because
- 16:53that's probably what I would give.
- 16:55That was yeah, that was one of the the rather clear needs
- 16:59across all of baseball was to feel it again, going back to the
- 17:04the bro, I'm blank. What's his name?
- 17:09Alvarez. No, not Alvarez.
- 17:14What's up man? The.
- 17:14Closer that got busted. Oh, Alvarado.
- 17:19Alvarado, Yeah. Why is Alvarez, especially with
- 17:22him being out, you, you absolutely need to fill that
- 17:25void again for a Phillies team that you can, dare I say, lock
- 17:32into the postseason knowing that you're not going to be able to
- 17:35use him during that stretch. You need a closer.
- 17:38You go out and get one of the best, one of the best available
- 17:40that were on the market with control, with control.
- 17:47Let's go. Speaking of closers, let's let's
- 17:51look at the Yankees move. I'm just again, I'm sort of
- 17:53running down the trade tracker list here.
- 17:56Yankees acquired David Bednar. Yeah, man.
- 18:02I mean quick thoughts, Obviously I can ramble for a while.
- 18:06They I didn't feel like they needed a closer necessarily.
- 18:09There are other pieces that they got in the bullpen that we can
- 18:11talk about, but when you look at it like Luke Weaver and Devin
- 18:17Williams are set to be free agents at the end of the year.
- 18:21So I think it gives them a little bit of flexibility and
- 18:23leverage come this offseason because David Bednar has
- 18:27control. And, you know, in reality, of
- 18:30those three guys, who has the most closing experience?
- 18:35It's it's David Bednar. You know, I know he had kind of
- 18:38a rough year last year, but he's just coming off like a really
- 18:41long scoreless streak. He looks like he's kind of come
- 18:44back. I think there were rumors of him
- 18:45tipping pitches for a bit. Seems like he's out of that
- 18:48funk. I think it was a good get.
- 18:51I I would say I just there's there's three potential closers
- 18:58in that bullpen that I don't have like complete confidence
- 19:04in. I don't really know Bednar
- 19:06enough but I just based on what I've seen over the last year and
- 19:10a half I'm like it comes and goes so I'll go B plus because
- 19:16it was an obvious need. Their bullpen has been in
- 19:18shambles for like 6 weeks now so good job.
- 19:25I'd give it ABI like I like the move.
- 19:31Caballero going to the Yankees, All he's going to do is walk
- 19:34across to the other dog out crazy.
- 19:36I'll give it ABI like the move, especially since we're with as
- 19:40well as Bednar has seemingly turned it around.
- 19:44However, I just feel like you're in this.
- 19:50You're in this weird position right now where you've just got
- 19:55a little like would you say too many high leverage arms in the
- 19:59back end out? Not that like you, not that you
- 20:01can have too many, but it's. You're going to I feel like if
- 20:05if, if other guys in the back end turn it around, you're going
- 20:08to have a log jam. And we've seen that play out
- 20:10with other teams across the league where it's like, OK, we,
- 20:12we don't have like a guy that we can really you.
- 20:15Know we do and say. That's our guy A.
- 20:17Lot like who was it was Liam Hendricks and and Kim.
- 20:23Craig Kimbrough in the white in the white box.
- 20:25Where there was like, who's the guy, right?
- 20:27We don't know which one's who. I think with that Weaver is very
- 20:32open and flexible to doing whatever.
- 20:33And he's he's been that fireman guy of like if it's the 6th, if
- 20:37it's the 7th, if it's the 8th, whatever.
- 20:39Devin Williams just doesn't. He has not He's got an ERA over
- 20:435 this year, bro. Like that's that's just not
- 20:45going to get it done. And you got to remember he was
- 20:49the setup guy when hater was in town in Milwaukee.
- 20:53So I just, it makes me feel like that should be the setup.
- 20:56I'm curious to see how it goes. It could be just kind of closing
- 20:59by committee until someone really just dominates Rangers.
- 21:05Acquire Meryl Kelly from the D backs.
- 21:08Today it was reported that the Red Sox, I think we're we're in
- 21:14on him. I think that's who did we both
- 21:17have Kelly going to the Sox. I feel like, I feel like I, I
- 21:24know I did. I can't remember if you did or
- 21:25not. I feel like I did too.
- 21:28Not to be, though. Merrill Kelly to the Rangers.
- 21:32I'm I'm very excited to see how this American League West pans
- 21:40out over the next two months. As am I, because the Rangers
- 21:45been hot lately, I think when we were doing the predictions a few
- 21:49weeks ago. Since then, the Rangers have
- 21:52have picked it up. They're 7-7 and three in their
- 21:54last ten, currently five games back, five games over 500.
- 21:59They're tied with Seattle for second place in the division,
- 22:04and they currently are tied with the Seattle Mariners for the
- 22:07last spot in the wild card. I did not see them as buyers,
- 22:15but I kind of like it. This rotation's going to be
- 22:19sick, dude. Degrom, a healthy degrom that's
- 22:22been pitching very well, Nathan Giovaldi, who's also been
- 22:26pitching well, Meryl Kelly, Tyler Mailee.
- 22:29And then to round out the back end, you could you could take
- 22:33your pick of Patrick Corbin who? Who has been good?
- 22:35Has been having a good year or Jack Wyder who at any moment in
- 22:39time if I could give you a a a spark.
- 22:42Yeah, absolutely fantastic. Good on the Rangers.
- 22:47I would give that and also. Kumar Rocker if if if you just
- 22:56want to lump him into that. I'd give it AB.
- 23:02I'm going to, I'm going to go B plus.
- 23:05Fair. I was in between it.
- 23:11Another another American League arm, Shane Bieber to the Blue
- 23:15Jays. For not that much either.
- 23:22I'm. Not going to lie, I, I didn't
- 23:24see this until 4 hours later because I, I was caught up with
- 23:29work today and then I see the Blue Jays tweeting about Shane
- 23:33Bieber and I'm like, I heard nothing of this today.
- 23:37And I go and check four hours ago from when I when I saw that
- 23:41he had been acquired by the Blue Jays.
- 23:45Yeah, not very much for a Blue Jays team that currently sits
- 23:52four games atop or sits atop the American League games by four
- 23:57games. This is and not to mention Max
- 24:03Scherzer sort of showing signs of life the last few starts.
- 24:07I believe so. What do you think?
- 24:14I was trying to read up on Bieber of like when he's set to
- 24:18come back. Wow, the Yankees just got Camilo
- 24:23Duvall. Wow.
- 24:26See, this is what I'm saying. I mean, wow.
- 24:31How many back? Yeah, Yeah, OK, Yeah.
- 24:36How many How many, how many back end guys can you have?
- 24:44How many backing you have Devin Williams, David Bednar, Luke
- 24:49Weaver and Camilo Duvall? That's I'm and I'm look, I'm not
- 24:55being a hater. I'm genuinely like objectively,
- 24:59I think that's I mean. I like it.
- 25:05I'm sure you have, but all of those guys have closed it.
- 25:08This isn't just like oh, we're acquiring like our 789 guys.
- 25:12Those are all all have been or currently are closers.
- 25:21So like what? What are we doing?
- 25:25I don't know, man. I like it.
- 25:27The live reaction, I like it. It feels good.
- 25:31I haven't really paid a ton of attention to him.
- 25:36Let me kind of see what things have been looking like numbers
- 25:40wise. Yeah, man, he's got 15 saves
- 25:44this year. That's what I'm saying.
- 25:47All four of the guys that they have now have been or currently
- 25:53currently closers. I think it's a little bit of a
- 25:56different look. I don't know.
- 25:57We're going to have to see how it pans out.
- 25:59I think it's one thing when you have two, it's a whole another
- 26:03thing when you have 4 and say, hey look boys, you got to buy in
- 26:07because this is how we're rolling it out there.
- 26:11I don't know man, going. Back to that example of of Liam
- 26:14Hendrickson, Craig Kimbrough. When, if the when when can you
- 26:18go back in in time and say there's been a scenario of four?
- 26:22That's my point is I remember the conversations that
- 26:25surrounded that deal and it was like, we're just going to have
- 26:28to buy in and like everybody's going to be a team player here.
- 26:30And it was disastrous, absolutely disastrous.
- 26:33Now you have. Four guys crazy.
- 26:36You also have to understand that that was done in the offseason,
- 26:39right? White Sox did that before the
- 26:42season. This is kind of like a deadline
- 26:45thing of like, hey, you're immediately going to a
- 26:47contender. I maybe that changes stuff a
- 26:49little bit. We're officially 3 minutes past
- 26:52the deadline by the way, but still got stuff obviously
- 26:55trickling in. Give me give me an I'm I'm going
- 27:01to go a minus on cumulative all. I like that more than Bednar,
- 27:05not necessarily for the fact of him being like a better closer
- 27:09than Bednar. I just like the fact that
- 27:12bullpen needed massive help and they got massive.
- 27:15They brought in three guys, Bednar Duvall, Jake Bird.
- 27:21I'm a huge fan of the Yankees deadline.
- 27:25Like, I I'm feeling good. I'm feeling good guys.
- 27:31Yeah, must be a good deadline that I like.
- 27:34We don't have to speak on it, but like the Jose Caballero
- 27:36thing, like Volpe's been a black hole at shortstop defensively
- 27:41and Caballero is super athletic. Play all the infield positions.
- 27:45Sign me up all day. Charlie Morton to the Tigers.
- 27:52Charlie Morton to the Tigers, Griffin Jacks to the Rays.
- 28:00Dude, this deadline. I didn't see the Jacks one.
- 28:06This deadline was on one. I mean, there's quite literally
- 28:14no way we're going to be able to get to everything.
- 28:16Like we, like I said, we have we have a hard stop, but.
- 28:19It's my fault. Sorry guys.
- 28:21No, it's fine. Like even if we didn't there's,
- 28:24there's still no way we'd be able to get to all these deals
- 28:26because I mean, this is insane. We let me go down the list here.
- 28:32Mets bolstering their back end a little bit.
- 28:35Tyler Rogers, they added. Who else did they add?
- 28:40Ryan Helsley, the. I want to credit them.
- 28:46Let me find the tweet here the All right, yeah.
- 28:56So take a pitch on Twitter looking at some of the well,
- 29:04we've, we've already touched on it briefly, but looking at some
- 29:08of the, the arms that the National League acquired or you
- 29:13know, some of these teams that they acquired, Padres getting
- 29:17Mason Miller, you got Suarez like you mentioned, the Mets
- 29:22read. Gary, I know we're on arms right
- 29:25now. We didn't even mention the fact
- 29:26that Ryan O'hearn going to the Padres too.
- 29:30It's good. Get Padres.
- 29:32Had a good solid deadline. Rogers, Helsley, Diaz, Phillies.
- 29:42This this isn't who they acquire, but just like who who
- 29:44they're working with. You got Romano, Strom, Duron.
- 29:48Dodgers have Vesia, Scott, Trinon Stewart.
- 29:56It's going to be very exciting if you're a fan of pitching come
- 30:01time for the for October. Yeah, man, this is this is what?
- 30:08Do you want to? Where do you want to go from
- 30:11here? Well, let's talk about the Ryan
- 30:13O'hearn one. I I you briefly mentioned that
- 30:15Padres get o'hearn. I think I had him going to San
- 30:19Francisco because I just feel like that fit made sense.
- 30:23But they not only they get o'hearn, they get Loriano as
- 30:26well from the OS. Depth, man, I just a straight
- 30:34depth. I mean, I don't like, do the
- 30:38Padres understand that? Like they have a finite amount
- 30:41of roster spots. I don't think they care.
- 30:45I feel like in just the moves that we've seen today, it's like
- 30:49where where all these names going to play or, or or how are
- 30:55they going to contribute most effectively with with this quote
- 30:59UN quote depth that we have. Well, I think what's cool is
- 31:03when, like when you have a team that and I, I haven't, I'm not
- 31:07staring at the roster. Sorry, guys, there's a lot going
- 31:09on here. But like with the Padres, you
- 31:11got to assume that they have guys that have options and, and
- 31:16when you have a bench or the back half of your roster that
- 31:19has options and you can send them down and make some move,
- 31:22make some moves like this and kind of solidify your bench.
- 31:25I this is good. I mean, where does that?
- 31:31Has Cronenworth had like any like a decent year at all?
- 31:38Let's see 239 Eight homers, 2 swipes, 32 ribbies.
- 31:47Yeah, this is a good move. This is a good move.
- 31:51And in a pinch can give you some innings in the outfield too.
- 32:00I like it. Taj Taj Bradley going to the
- 32:04Twins in the Griffin. Jack Steel.
- 32:08Interesting. The rays are interesting to me
- 32:15because they've been scuffling, haven't they?
- 32:22Three bat two and eight. Yeah, in the last. 10310 it's. 3
- 32:26Back in the wild card. Well, I mean, I wonder if I feel
- 32:33like that's a good get. I think Griffin Jax has been was
- 32:36one of the popular names that was tossed out there this
- 32:38deadline. I'm kind of surprised that it's
- 32:41the Rays that get them, but I wonder if maybe the twins kind
- 32:46of overplayed their hand a little bit and said, hey, this
- 32:49is this is his value and no one was willing to pay that prospect
- 32:54capital to get them. And then here at the at the
- 32:57finish line, they're like, hey, you know what?
- 32:59Let's just get it done. And Taj Bradley, I all right, I
- 33:04mean no disrespect. No disrespect.
- 33:06Let's play this game. I like playing this game around
- 33:09the deadline. Where do you want to draw the
- 33:10line for the American League wild card teams?
- 33:15As in OS? Yeah, the OS we're pretty much
- 33:20call them dead on arrival. The, I would say the Twins
- 33:24probably where you you cut off even though they're six games
- 33:27under their 5 1/2 back. I mean, do I believe the twins
- 33:33are going to be a, a playoff team by the end of the year or
- 33:37by the end of the regular season?
- 33:38No. But like from a, from a, from an
- 33:45objective standpoint, can can we say that the twins are still
- 33:49within reason, like within striking distance?
- 33:53Are you calling? I'm calling, I'm calling that
- 33:55and I'll go one above and say I'm out on the angels too.
- 33:58OK, so who by the way, if you want to start grading?
- 34:07Nice deadline, what are you doing?
- 34:10Let's finish this conversation, then maybe we'll switch gears.
- 34:14Talk about some LS here real quick.
- 34:16I'm I'm I'm with you out on the twins, out on the Angels.
- 34:20And quite frankly, I'm surprised that the angels are at least at
- 34:23this very moment having a better year than the twins.
- 34:25Don't know how that makes any sense.
- 34:28But with that said, that leaves seven teams outside of the
- 34:31current division leaders fighting for.
- 34:34Wild card spots, I think that's a safe, safe place just because
- 34:38of the fact that like you can see any of these teams going on
- 34:40a rough skid at any point, at any point.
- 34:45Yeah, right now you've got the Yankees in the top spot, the Red
- 34:48Sox in the second wild card spot, you've got the Mariners
- 34:51and Rangers tied for the third spot.
- 34:54And then outside looking in, you've got the Guardians, Royals
- 34:58and Rays who, as we just said, sort of in a a buying kind of
- 35:05situation so. And they are.
- 35:10It's currently in the bottom of the eighth.
- 35:11They're down 3 to the Yanks. They had a rain delay earlier.
- 35:14So there's a point where, yeah, I mean, they could be 1 and 9 in
- 35:22their last ten or two and eight in their last 10, whatever that
- 35:25was anyway. No, it'd be 1 and 9 in their
- 35:31last ten, Yeah. Let's talk about some LS.
- 35:42I saw people saying, what's that look?
- 35:47I was just reading this tweet. Astros are done.
- 35:51It's basically it's saying that they they got some good pieces.
- 35:54The Dylan C's conversations were serious, just never got over the
- 35:58finish line. Thai France and Louis Varlen
- 36:04have been traded to the Blue Jays.
- 36:11Doesn't particularly move the needle for me, but in terms of
- 36:14what I was saying, what I was saying about the LS, I saw
- 36:18Louise Roberts still being on the White Sox was a a point of
- 36:21contention for a lot of people. And I have to say I I would call
- 36:29it an L on behalf of the White Sox for the return that I saw.
- 36:33Rose reported that they were hoping for a Major League ready
- 36:38player. And then I think 2 top top 100
- 36:42prospects or something. I don't remember what it said.
- 36:46That's just like. That's insane.
- 36:48Why are you holding on to needing a big league ready
- 36:51player? You're not ready to compete
- 36:53anytime soon. Why is that so important?
- 36:55I don't see why that matters. But I mean, you go back a few
- 37:00weeks ago, I, I kind of felt like what's the point of selling
- 37:04Luis Robert? He's having a down year.
- 37:06Like why would you sell low? He's still under control.
- 37:09He's still in his contract. It's like just try again next
- 37:11year. Maybe he gets hot and and maybe
- 37:13you move him, but don't wait too long if you're the White Sox, if
- 37:18he's having great numbers and it's may move him.
- 37:22Don't let things slide and and get to this this point in the
- 37:25deadline where you could you could lose leverage again.
- 37:27So I I wouldn't give them a full L that's.
- 37:30What I'm saying that's, yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 37:32I, I give them an L from the point of view of what they were
- 37:35asking for, but in terms of not panicking and just trying to
- 37:39offload them and instead keeping them around to, like you said,
- 37:43try again, you know, in the offseason or or next year.
- 37:46That's I'm fine with that. Like there, there's no no sense,
- 37:49but you're going to have to adjust your expectations if if
- 37:52this level performance continues another L I've I've I've been
- 38:00reading about the fact that Marcelo Zuna is still with the
- 38:03Braves. Braves have a fat L This is a
- 38:06fat L. I don't know, man, I don't
- 38:12understand. There's certain things, there's
- 38:16certain personnel situations around the league that you look
- 38:20at and you're like, maybe there's more to what's going on
- 38:24behind closed doors. Because like I always say, as
- 38:27fans, we don't have the luxury of, of hearing, you know, every
- 38:31conversation that happens on trade deadline day.
- 38:33That's that's obvious. However, there are certain
- 38:37personnel scenarios and situations where I feel like are
- 38:41pretty common sense, and I feel like offloading Marcelo Zuna was
- 38:46one of those. I think that and I also think of
- 38:51because of their catching scenario.
- 38:54Like Drake Baldwin looks legit. Yeah, Sean Murphy, I think, I
- 38:58feel like Sean. Murphy needed to get moved.
- 39:00Sean, the Red Sox, I think, were sniffing around that slightly.
- 39:05So the fact that he's still there, or at least as of this
- 39:09moment, he's still there, who's to say what What'll come in the
- 39:11next few minutes, But the Royals acquiring Mike Yastremsky from
- 39:22the Giants. Whoa.
- 39:23Friend of the pod Mike Yastremsky.
- 39:26Wow. The Royals are weird man.
- 39:31Dude. What is happening?
- 39:33They've been hot. They're looking.
- 39:35They were inside that that that seven team spread that we you're
- 39:39right. Hey, you're right.
- 39:41Hey. You know what?
- 39:42Let's let's go Royals. Let's go Royals A.
- 39:45Little bit, you know, we talk, we, we talk all the time about
- 39:47like, why don't? And I remember having this
- 39:49conversation last year. Wasn't it last year that we said
- 39:52the same thing for the, for the angels?
- 39:54Or was that the year before where we're like, this makes no
- 39:57sense, but the fact that you're like you're, you're committing
- 40:00to a direction. Is is commendable, I guess, like
- 40:03even though it may be the wrong 1 and it ended up being the
- 40:05wrong decision to, to ultimately go for it, at least you're doing
- 40:08stuff. Oh no, you know what it was?
- 40:10It was the last year they had show hey, wasn't it where they
- 40:13kept show hey, and people were like, what's going on?
- 40:15Do you remember this conversation we had?
- 40:17Yeah. I think that's what it was.
- 40:20That's that's sort of a similar similar I.
- 40:22Think I was kind of in the camp of the Angels needing to sell at
- 40:25that point, but yeah, imagine the hall you would have gotten
- 40:28back. Whatever.
- 40:30Yeah. But anyway, the Royals slightly
- 40:33similar situation, but also slightly different because I
- 40:36think the Royals are are are much, much better suited to to
- 40:40actually commit and actually make a legitimate run.
- 40:44Than a than if they're in the NL, then we're not having this
- 40:47conversation. But the fact that they're in the
- 40:49AL and this year specifically with the AL, I'm a fan.
- 40:53So back to the LS. Who else gets an L?
- 40:56Who? Who are we dishing it out to?
- 41:01Trying to think, Was there anybody?
- 41:05How about the O's? Trying to think.
- 41:09Anybody was missing, so Seti Mullins got dealt.
- 41:12Yeah, yeah. So the Mets.
- 41:17Which How do we feel about that while we're on the topic?
- 41:22I give AC plus I think the Mets needed a center fielder,
- 41:26clearly. And dudes a vet.
- 41:31Dudes a solid vet. We're going to give you tough
- 41:33ABS and play good defense. He's not really going to mess up
- 41:36that often. I think you got what you needed.
- 41:43Again, forgive me, I'm trying to keep track of all these moves.
- 41:46Did, did or did not the Phillies acquire the outfielder that they
- 41:52were looking for? Am I?
- 41:54Am I forgetting a move that happened?
- 41:57I think it was. Just yeah, just Vader and Duran.
- 42:00We talked about that. That's right.
- 42:01OK. Yeah, Because the only reason I
- 42:03was asking because I remember Cedric Mullins being a potential
- 42:06target for the Phillies as well. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:09And look, I mean, like for what? Again, just touching on that,
- 42:12for what Vader brings to the table.
- 42:14Like he's, he doesn't need to play every day, but he's going
- 42:16to give you outstanding defense. So yeah.
- 42:20Speaking of outstanding defense, we haven't even mentioned this
- 42:24name yet. Kabrine Hayes going to the Reds.
- 42:28How do we feel about the Reds? Can we just talk a minute about
- 42:31the Reds right now? Three games out of a wild card
- 42:34spot. Five games over 500.
- 42:41Didn't they sell an arm too? They they got, didn't they get
- 42:51Zach Latell? They bought an arm.
- 42:56Am I? Am I?
- 42:58They got Zach Latell. Zach Latell?
- 43:01Yeah. Brian Hayes.
- 43:04Did they sell an arm? Maybe they didn't.
- 43:07I think. I think that's it, those two
- 43:10moves. Yeah, that's the one.
- 43:14Those are the two I should say. I like the Brian Hayes move.
- 43:23I mean, it was, I kind of got him for pretty cheap.
- 43:28The outer for control. It's obviously excellent
- 43:31defense. Maybe a change of scenery helps
- 43:34the offense Brian Hayes wanted out, but I don't know.
- 43:40I don't want to burn more time on it to be honest.
- 43:43I'll go. I'll go see.
- 43:46Plus, yeah, our, our grades have been spotty.
- 43:49We've been just moving at speed of light.
- 43:52So I think we've missed a few grades.
- 43:53But yeah, I'm, I'm not wild about Kebron Hayes from a, a, a
- 43:59full package point of view. Again, we know what this guy's
- 44:03what you know what tool he best brings to the table.
- 44:08It's no mystery, but what was it that I said yesterday Like a 650
- 44:14OPS guy? Yeah, I think he's really only
- 44:17had like 3/4 of a good season offensively.
- 44:22I mean, I hear you, those of you trying to, you know, talk about
- 44:26the quality of defense, but at what cost?
- 44:30Truly, at what cost? I mean, I'm with you.
- 44:36I don't want to spend any more time on it, but I just, that's
- 44:41why I'm, I'm, I'm sort of, you know, 1 foot in one foot out on
- 44:44this deal. I'm like, I don't know.
- 44:49The Joe Ryan stays with the twins, in case that was in
- 44:54doubt. Yeah.
- 44:55Thanks. Appreciate that.
- 44:57It's later. Just trying to see here.
- 45:01What did we miss? We talked to O'hearn Helsley,
- 45:04Bednar, Kelly Suarez, Correa, Mason Miller, Adrian Houser.
- 45:13I think happened right at the buzzer.
- 45:17Where did he go again? He is going to it was a flurry.
- 45:25It was one of a flurry of like 3 or 4 moves.
- 45:27So I'm, I'm, forgive me, Adrian Houser, Ray's Ray's of acquired
- 45:34Adrian Houser. OK, good deal.
- 45:41I again the razor just in a weird spot.
- 45:45I I think I don't I'm not sure off hand of how much control him
- 45:50and and Jax have. So maybe it's one of those
- 45:54things were like it was out there for the taking.
- 45:57Even though we haven't had a good few weeks.
- 45:58It's out there for the taking. We can always run it back next
- 46:00year. That's maybe the thought
- 46:02process, I guess. See.
- 46:10What else did we go into into much depth about the Korea
- 46:18thing? I talked about why, you know why
- 46:19I liked it. But the yeah, no, I think we I
- 46:26think we covered that. We got, we talked Suarez.
- 46:32Let's talk else. Let's talk else.
- 46:34I mean, let look, let's be real, the Red Sox, I, I'm, I can argue
- 46:43putting in the L camp just based on what they've dealt with in,
- 46:48in a log jam in the outfield. They had needs.
- 46:52And I mean no disrespect. I I think destiny is good.
- 46:56Probably a lot of upside. Well, this blends.
- 46:58This blends perfectly. I'm glad you brought up the Red
- 47:00Sox because I was going to bring up, do we feel like the
- 47:03Diamondbacks offloaded enough? And what I was going to say is,
- 47:09you know, the Red Sox being tied to Kelly being tied potentially
- 47:132 gallon as well. And I think even in the mix for
- 47:18Suarez, although I think that that faded away within the last
- 47:22few days because I think it came down to like three or four teams
- 47:25as of yesterday or like 2 days ago for Suarez.
- 47:27So I don't think they're in that.
- 47:28But the yeah, I it's weird, man. Because like with the Red Sox,
- 47:35if there wasn't a trade deadline this year, just like in a
- 47:38hypothetical situation, hey, there's no trade deadline,
- 47:41You're just going to have to go with what you got.
- 47:43With the way things. Are going right now, honestly,
- 47:46I'm fine, but it's when it's when you get teased like Joe
- 47:49Ryan, potentially Merrill Kelly, Zach Gallen, other names around
- 47:53the league, Sandy Alcantara like you, you start hearing these
- 47:58things and then when you end up with Dustin May and Steven Matz.
- 48:03Yeah, it's like I forgot about Stephen Mass.
- 48:06Who's having a good like a good year and and well.
- 48:09It's an inning eater. Depending upon what role they
- 48:12want to use with him because he's been out of the pen this
- 48:14year. But if they want to, you know,
- 48:15stretch him out for spot starts or even put him on the back end
- 48:18for the second for these last couple months, you know, I guess
- 48:21we'll see. But if that like if that's what
- 48:24you end up with, it's like, I wish you just wouldn't have even
- 48:28bothered and just told me that you weren't going to do anything
- 48:31and I could have just put my blinders on and we just could
- 48:34have kept things going because you just came off a a serious
- 48:36win against the twins 2. I think two straight series wins
- 48:42after dropping the the 1st 2 series after the break.
- 48:45So sort of riding the ship there.
- 48:47But I think specifically when you look at like the teams
- 48:50around then that they're competing with, I feel like the
- 48:52Yankees got better. I feel like the Mariners got
- 48:54better. I feel like the Rangers got
- 48:57better. So it's like I.
- 48:59The Jays can we the Jays got better who like let's not let's
- 49:04not like ignore the fact that this is still a three like this
- 49:08is a three team race in the. Division for the, for the East
- 49:12and for the for the Blue Jays look like I, I can, I can't.
- 49:16They've been hot. I think at one point it was like
- 49:1921 out of the last 25 games they've won.
- 49:22Like it's some, some crazy stretch like that.
- 49:27It's not sustainable. I think they had a, a better
- 49:31deadline. But like either way, back to the
- 49:32Red Sox, I, I just, I feel like the teams that you're definitely
- 49:36competing with got took two steps forward, maybe 3 steps
- 49:40forward today and the Red Sox maybe took a half a step.
- 49:44So I I'm going to pass him an L I'm going to give him an L.
- 49:52I'm going to give them an L, but I'm going to give them like an L
- 49:54light because again, I know I got I know I said what I just
- 49:58said about like, you know, you, you get teased with some of
- 50:01these names and then you end up with Steven Mads and Dustin May.
- 50:03However, if if this was a decision and I I don't want to
- 50:09be gas lit. So like, I'm not even really
- 50:12interested in what Craig Bresso has a say.
- 50:14Yeah. After the fact, but behind
- 50:17closed doors, if if the situation was like, hey, we're
- 50:21willing to give you X or Y or Z, but we want, we want Jaron Duran
- 50:28and the Red Sox didn't feel like that was an adequate return.
- 50:31Then I'm. Then I'm I'm.
- 50:32I'm fine with not having not made those moves.
- 50:36No, I hear you. I think it's I think it's just
- 50:38the fact that the log jam is still there.
- 50:40And, and I think they're, I don't know, I think they're in
- 50:46good shape. And I, I thought they would have
- 50:48been in better shape if they made a better move, but touching
- 50:53on the Diamondbacks real quick. And then we got to get back to
- 50:57the Mets because they upgraded their bullpen significantly.
- 51:00And that's a big move we can't ignore.
- 51:03But with the Diamondbacks, it makes me wonder if, like, you
- 51:07didn't get any offers that you wanted for Gallon because of how
- 51:11bad he's been this year. And at the same time, I think if
- 51:15that's the case, if you're the Diamondbacks, maybe you're the
- 51:19one of the few teams that says, hey, we'll take a shot.
- 51:23We'll take a shot this offseason.
- 51:25We'll bring you back, we'll run it back, see if it goes well.
- 51:28And like, maybe that's the move for them.
- 51:33Kind of thought that Guriel might have gotten moved, but I
- 51:38don't know. I mean, the Diamondbacks didn't
- 51:39need to do a ton. They're they just underperformed
- 51:41this year. I think they're still really
- 51:44good. I think they have a really good
- 51:45roster. Just a bad year.
- 51:49But yeah, Mets. Ryan Helsley.
- 51:54Who I mentioned earlier, but we didn't really talk talk in depth
- 51:57about. I think I was tuned out.
- 51:59Thanks. B Plus it would be an A if his
- 52:05numbers were a little bit better, but I feel like it's
- 52:07kind of been like trending down the last few years.
- 52:15I think a lot of that, a lot of his numbers have been trending
- 52:17down. Strikeout percentage has been
- 52:20trending, down 21. Saves on the air.
- 52:23I think this year has been better.
- 52:26Let's look at the What's the savant looking like right now?
- 52:34All right, decent amount of red chase percentage with percentage
- 52:39K percentage. All looking pretty good,
- 52:41especially the chase percentage I think.
- 52:44It's a great move though. He's walking at a higher clip
- 52:48than he would like, but again, it's a good, it's a good, it's a
- 52:53good move. And again, this is one of those
- 52:55moves that supplements. Some interesting things in the
- 52:59bullpen, by the way, with those two closers.
- 53:00Right. But that's what I'm saying.
- 53:02Is it it supplements a a bullpen that I think will create
- 53:10nightmares in October, One of one of many I think are are
- 53:15gearing up to do that very thing this October.
- 53:20Yeah, yeah. And that could kind of be a part
- 53:25of this conversation. You know what I mean?
- 53:29I understand about the adrenaline of having multiple
- 53:32closers in your bullpen and like, what if you take him out
- 53:35of that role? How does he do in a different
- 53:37role? I get that.
- 53:38I definitely get that conversation.
- 53:42But when you're talking about being in the postseason, I don't
- 53:45think there's any lack of adrenaline.
- 53:48I don't think there's any, you know what I mean?
- 53:50And when you have potential stretches where you got to get
- 53:56through a wild card round to be able to advance, maybe you maybe
- 54:04you need another guy that can close games down and you can't
- 54:07expect a guy to be available, you know, pretty much every day
- 54:10for a month straight. It's just not feasible.
- 54:13So I think the Mets did a really good job.
- 54:16Let's not forget the Gregory Soto move.
- 54:17That what happened last week too.
- 54:19Like I think they they had a good deadline.
- 54:22I'm going to give the Mets credit.
- 54:24I thought they should have added to their rotation but or give me
- 54:29a good deadline. Which just reminded me I had
- 54:35Severino going back to the Mets and last I checked, Severino was
- 54:39staying put. Feel bad?
- 54:42For him, I feel like he kind of aired out all of his.
- 54:44Yeah, yeah, all of. His grievances and then didn't
- 54:47get moved. Kind of awkward.
- 54:51Yeah, I mean, if yeah, that's that sucks for him with some of
- 54:55the other arms that got moved around.
- 54:57I just wonder why Severino wasn't one of them.
- 55:02I can't, I can't imagine him airing those grievances, being
- 55:05like a detractor for him. Because I feel like if you're
- 55:07anybody that's a like a rationally minded baseball
- 55:11person, you look at that situation and go, I yeah, makes
- 55:14sense. Attracts like course you're
- 55:18playing. Like, look at where he's playing
- 55:19and look at the splits. Like it all.
- 55:21It all adds up. I thought the Mets made a lot of
- 55:24sense. I thought that would have been a
- 55:26really good fit. Did you did you give your
- 55:31thoughts on the on the what's his face, Nestor Cortez move?
- 55:39I haven't really paid attention to how he's done this year.
- 55:42How? How's it been?
- 55:43Do you know? I don't.
- 55:44Who did I even say that was? That was one of the other names.
- 55:48I think that was in the flurry of moves last minute.
- 55:51Oh, oh, he's been out a while. Oh, going to the Padres?
- 55:56That's right. He's on the 60 J IL set your
- 56:00return in August. It's only made two starts this
- 56:05year. Side note this I don't know if
- 56:12maybe it's just a little brain fart action, but like kind of
- 56:15forgot guys on the IO could get moved.
- 56:20Yeah, I don't know pass out any other LS.
- 56:25How do you feel about the Guardians?
- 56:27How do you feel about Cleveland? This was a weird one because we
- 56:29had some big names floated that end up ended up not getting
- 56:34moved for different reasons. Dude, I think the, I mean, I
- 56:38think the Guardians have bigger, bigger fish to fry right now.
- 56:41Like it's as crazy as it sounds like.
- 56:43I think they're in the middle of something where they probably
- 56:48didn't have 100% focus attributed to this deadline.
- 56:53And it's all this was all because of what, you know,
- 56:55obviously what happened with the the scandal and everything.
- 56:58I think they've just got too much going on.
- 57:01And at the end of the day, I'm, I'm glad that we can finally
- 57:04sort of put a bow on the Bieber. I won't call it a saga, but you
- 57:09know, he, I mean, he's been floated out there for some time
- 57:12now. And it's like, OK, when, when is
- 57:14Bieber going to eventually, you know, end up in another uniform?
- 57:17So I'm, I'm glad to see that's finally the case.
- 57:19Not that I wanted him to. I don't know, it's weird.
- 57:24Like I I wanted Shane Beaver to stay a guardian, but it's like,
- 57:28if you're going to continually float him out there, it's like,
- 57:30OK, just RIP the Band-Aid off or just say that like this is our
- 57:33guy. We're he's going to be the, he's
- 57:36going to be the Kershaw kind of guy just wearing the same
- 57:38uniform. What you know that?
- 57:40Whatever, but. I didn't think they needed to
- 57:43move Quan, I think Class A just kind of really put him in a bind
- 57:47with everything. Yeah, the Quan things did that
- 57:50sort of fall from the clouds? I feel like I didn't really.
- 57:53I don't know if I had heard too much noise on that.
- 57:55And then what was it yesterday, the day before?
- 57:57Like, yeah, teams are sniff around on what it would take to
- 58:01get Quan. I'm like.
- 58:02Yeah, strange for. What?
- 58:04I don't know, but yeah, not, not like a huge, I don't think too
- 58:10big of an L and needs to be handed out for the Guardians,
- 58:13but I feel like they they kind of, they did, I guess they did
- 58:19the best they could given the circumstances.
- 58:23Shelby Miller and Jordan Montgomery traded to the
- 58:26Brewers. I don't know.
- 58:28I don't got time for this. Yeah.
- 58:30I mean, what are we doing? Jesus Sanchez going to the going
- 58:34to the Astros. I mean this.
- 58:36That one was earlier. I I didn't hate that move.
- 58:38They needed some outfield depth and still a change of scenery.
- 58:41Dudes got crazy pop. Maybe you can put it together
- 58:44there. Dodgers acquired Alex Call from
- 58:48the Nationals. Yeah, a lot of I.
- 58:51Don't even know who that is. No disrespect.
- 58:53Well, the only reason I know of him is because I've been to
- 58:56nationals game this year and like lightly followed the
- 59:00personnel they have anticipating that they would be sound at the
- 59:04deadline. But yeah, a lot of lower tier
- 59:08moves, no disrespect to supplement all these ones that
- 59:11we've talked about thus far, but I think we've we've arrived at
- 59:17our at our stopping point. Yeah, and I think we'll have a
- 59:21good time, you know, kind of seeing what these next few days
- 59:25look like, getting a look at these guys in new uniforms and
- 59:28seeing what roles they hop into. It's going to be fun.
- 59:30It's this is I think that's what makes the trade deadline.
- 59:34We own the trade deadline, by the way, as well as the All Star
- 59:37game. We own both in all sports.
- 59:39So suck on that and it's going to be cool to see.
- 59:43I don't know, isn't NB as trade deadline period like kind of
- 59:49insane? Their their stuff is just
- 59:52because it's like right after and they have like a weird
- 59:54window. Ours is cool because it's cool.
- 1:00:00How's that? How's that for analysis?
- 1:00:02Well said. Yeah, all right, I got to roll.
- 1:00:04All right, apologies if we missed any, you know, major
- 1:00:09moves, but I think we touched on the majority of the the the real
- 1:00:12needle movers, if you will, but we we were in sort of a time
- 1:00:16crunch here, but glad to get a little bit of pre deadline convo
- 1:00:21and a little bit of post deadline combo here.
- 1:00:23So as Nate said, we'll we'll be anxiously waiting to see how
- 1:00:27some of. These Maybe next year we just
- 1:00:28take the whole day off from work.
- 1:00:29What? Do you maybe we meet up and just
- 1:00:31do stream it? I like it.
- 1:00:35But yeah, we'll wait, be waiting to see how some of these moves
- 1:00:38play out, new faces and new places.
- 1:00:40But other than that, that's that's that's all I really got.
- 1:00:49I had to sneak one in. You know, it's it's the end of
- 1:00:51the week pod. So yeah, unless you got anything
- 1:00:54else we can get out of here, I'll go chasing.
- 1:00:56Curve balls, we love you. All and as always, looking
- 1:00:58forward to talking more baseball with you guys soon.
- 1:01:00Until next time, stay filthy.
