Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: News breaks out in every show, Mark simone on seven
- 0:04Speaker 1: to ten, wor.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hey, lots to get to this hour. You know a
- 0:14Speaker 2: lot of stuff is up there on that Amazon cloud.
- 0:17Speaker 2: A lot of business and all sorts of stuff operates
- 0:20Speaker 2: through that Amazon cloud. So there was a widespread disruption
- 0:25Speaker 2: early this morning of the Amazon Cloud computing service that
- 0:29Speaker 2: took out dozens of major airline services. Social media sites
- 0:34Speaker 2: went you know that Snapchat went out? Did you know
- 0:38Speaker 2: there still was a Snapchat? Do you know that somebody
- 0:42Speaker 2: was still using Snapchat Fortnite? Video games were disrupted. The
- 0:46Speaker 2: Chat app signal, which is that's used by a lot
- 0:48Speaker 2: of government officials, took three hours totally out and it
- 0:54Speaker 2: slowly started to recover and came back. Online outages included Snapchat, fortnighte,
- 1:03Speaker 2: the McDonald's app down detector. Well that's the problem. Everything,
- 1:10Speaker 2: you know, goes more and more and more digital. You
- 1:12Speaker 2: can knock got more stuff with one bad outage. So
- 1:17Speaker 2: the Mayor ol Race, Hey, there was a Mayor Old debate.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Is this Saturday Night Live? Yeah, Saturday Night Live. Uh
- 1:24Speaker 2: you know it was the first week on Saturday Night
- 1:25Speaker 2: Live where the opening sketch the cold openers, they say
- 1:30Speaker 2: not political It wasn't Trump bashing us the first time
- 1:32Speaker 2: in years. They didn't do any Trump bashing on it.
- 1:35Speaker 2: But then the there's only two things anybody watches, that
- 1:37Speaker 2: opening sketch and then that fake newscast a weekend update.
- 1:42Speaker 2: This is from weekend update.
- 1:43Speaker 3: During the first New York mayoral debate Andrew Cuomo attacks
- 1:46Speaker 3: are on mom Donnie's saying that he once gave the
- 1:50Speaker 3: finger to the Columbus Day statue, whereas Cuomo snuck up
- 1:53Speaker 3: behind the statue and grabbed about of hips.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 2: See that's the thing. Even these Democrats can't stay in Cuomo.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Remember he lost by a lot. He lost the Democratic primary.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Democrats rejected him in the primary. He's running as a
- 2:08Speaker 2: third party candidate now although we say running, but he's
- 2:11Speaker 2: not actively campaigning. There's been no there's no campaign headquarters, shet.
- 2:16Speaker 2: He's taken like ten days off from the race. Now
- 2:19Speaker 2: here's Cuomo right away.
- 2:20Speaker 5: First one hundred days in office, five thousand new police officers,
- 2:24Speaker 5: fifteen hundred in the subway. Number two, We're gonna start
- 2:28Speaker 5: construction on eighty thousand new affordable units. The only way
- 2:31Speaker 5: you're gonna get the rents down is by increasing the supply.
- 2:35Speaker 5: That's what has happened. We have been super rests on
- 2:37Speaker 5: short term before you start building. You can't no now
- 2:41Speaker 5: without a gimmick that comes back and bite you in.
- 2:44Speaker 2: That took us later on. Yeah, see, he got all
- 2:46Speaker 2: kinds of plants. First hundred days, first one hundred day.
- 2:49Speaker 2: One of the reasons is he tends to leave office
- 2:51Speaker 2: early in disgrace. Last time hesing off. We gotta leave
- 2:54Speaker 2: early in disgrace. So that's why the first hundred days
- 2:56Speaker 2: is important. You know, they keep talking about this affordability problem,
- 2:59Speaker 2: housing affordable. This is the problem. It's a crisis, big
- 3:02Speaker 2: crisis affordability. Then why would you vote for the Democrats.
- 3:06Speaker 2: They've been running everything in New York for fifteen years.
- 3:09Speaker 2: The mayor, the governor, the legislature of the city council,
- 3:12Speaker 2: everything is Democrat. If they've created such a crisis, switch parties.
- 3:17Speaker 2: That's enough. President Trump, I think.
- 3:20Speaker 4: It's a joke. I looked at the people.
- 3:22Speaker 6: They're not representative of this kunjaint.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Oh he's talking about the No King's rally. I think
- 3:26Speaker 2: it's a joke. I looked at the people.
- 3:27Speaker 7: They're not representative of this kunjact.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it was mostly senior citizens. It's the people in
- 3:34Speaker 2: the nursing homes that survived Cuomo. They were the ones
- 3:36Speaker 2: out there with no kings stuff. Trump is not a
- 3:41Speaker 2: Curtis fan. He does not like Curtis. But remember on
- 3:45Speaker 2: the radio for years, Remember Curtis had like the number
- 3:47Speaker 2: one morning show for twenty years and he was bashing
- 3:50Speaker 2: Trump all the time, and Trump was listing. So he
- 3:54Speaker 2: hasn't forgotten that this is Trump on Sleewey Am.
- 3:56Speaker 6: I a big fan. This isn't exactly idea where he
- 3:59Speaker 6: wants to make Gracie Mansion a home for the cats.
- 4:03Speaker 6: You know, Gracie Mansion is a magnificent home of Fiorello
- 4:07Speaker 6: LaGuardia and the great Mayor's Rudy Julian. Yeah, Rudy Giuliani
- 4:11Speaker 6: was the greatest mayor in the history of New York.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Well, if that's the case, Rudy is telling everybody to
- 4:17Speaker 2: vote for Curtis. Rudy is saying the Curtis will keep
- 4:21Speaker 2: going what he started. Rudy Giuliani has a one thousand
- 4:25Speaker 2: percent endorsed Curtis. So now, as far as sending the
- 4:30Speaker 2: National Guard or troops into cities into states, why that's awful.
- 4:34Speaker 2: It's unheard of Trump talking about using the Insurrection Act.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Why that's unheard of. That's ridiculous, that's unlawful. Well, if
- 4:42Speaker 2: you check the record, it's done all the time. Every
- 4:46Speaker 2: president has sent troops into cities and states. Every president
- 4:49Speaker 2: has used the Insurrection Act. It's done all the time.
- 4:54Speaker 2: You could just google it. How many president Google how
- 4:56Speaker 2: many presidents have used the Insurrection Act. You'll get hundreds
- 4:59Speaker 2: of hundreds of answers. How many times is a president
- 5:02Speaker 2: send troops into a city or a state? You'll get
- 5:05Speaker 2: hundreds and hundreds and hundreds. You know, when Kennedy wanted it,
- 5:09Speaker 2: was having trouble with these schools in the South. They
- 5:11Speaker 2: wouldn't let black students in. Even the Southern governors would
- 5:15Speaker 2: stand in the doorways to block it. When Kennedy was
- 5:18Speaker 2: fighting that, at one point he had to send seventy
- 5:21Speaker 2: five thousand troops into the Southern States military to get
- 5:27Speaker 2: that done. So it's done all the time. You can
- 5:30Speaker 2: find almost every president in a riot in all sorts
- 5:33Speaker 2: of situations. You remember the George Floyd riots, for the
- 5:37Speaker 2: troops were sent into many, many cities in those cases.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Here's Trump on the insurrection Act.
- 5:43Speaker 6: But don't forget I can use the Insurrection Act. Fifty
- 5:48Speaker 6: percent of the presidents almost have used that, and that's
- 5:52Speaker 6: unquestioned power. I choose not to. I'd rather do this,
- 5:56Speaker 6: but I'm met constantly by fake politicians, politicians that think
- 6:03Speaker 6: that you know, it's not like part of the radical
- 6:06Speaker 6: left movement to have safety. These cities have to be safe.
- 6:12Speaker 6: Are cities that are Democrat run exclusively? Just about our
- 6:17Speaker 6: unsafe cities.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, so we'll see no Kings. I think they enjoyed themselves.
- 6:24Speaker 2: They get to give them something to do. These angry,
- 6:27Speaker 2: crazy left wingers, mostly senior citizens. They were out there
- 6:29Speaker 2: yelling and screaming and chanting. Maybe you should every week.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Let me give them something to do every week. Set
- 6:35Speaker 2: up like a No King's field where they can go
- 6:37Speaker 2: do this every week. They did it all over the place.
- 6:40Speaker 2: If you were out in the suburbs, you'd see it
- 6:41Speaker 2: in your town. Connecticut. There was a No King's rally
- 6:45Speaker 2: in Greenwich, Connecticut, where the governor himself Ned Lamont, left
- 6:48Speaker 2: wing Democrat, although very often a common sense Democrat, but
- 6:52Speaker 2: there he was leading the No Kings march. It was
- 6:57Speaker 2: quite something. It must have been thirty people, forty people.
- 7:01Speaker 2: It was quite a march right in front of Restoration
- 7:05Speaker 2: Hardware They're rh store. Lasted a couple hours, then they
- 7:09Speaker 2: went home. Hey, you know Twitter, of course, you know
- 7:13Speaker 2: Twitter x. When Elon Musk bought it and he took
- 7:18Speaker 2: away the censorship. Under the old owners, conservatives were getting censored.
- 7:25Speaker 2: They would what they call shadow ban you. They make
- 7:27Speaker 2: sure nobody saw your feed. I had that happened to me.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Everybody had it happened to them. And then there was
- 7:32Speaker 2: out and out censorship where they removed people's accounts. The
- 7:35Speaker 2: New York Post they took away their account because the
- 7:38Speaker 2: Post published the story about Hunter's laptop. So they let
- 7:41Speaker 2: mean think about this. This is hard to believe this
- 7:44Speaker 2: kind of censorship could exist in America. They literally took
- 7:47Speaker 2: down band, took away the New York Post Twitter account.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Even President Trump, the actual president the United States, they
- 7:55Speaker 2: took away his Twitter account. This unbelievable censorship. So Elon
- 7:59Speaker 2: Musk bought it and took away the censorship, the bias
- 8:03Speaker 2: and made it fair balanced. Well, this drove liberals nuts.
- 8:07Speaker 2: They wanted no part of this, so they went and
- 8:11Speaker 2: formed their own Twitter. It's called Blue Sky. Most of
- 8:13Speaker 2: the left wing people, most of the liberals, most of
- 8:16Speaker 2: the Democrats don't go on Twitter anymore. They go on
- 8:19Speaker 2: Blue Sky. That's their version of Twitter, left wing Twitter.
- 8:22Speaker 2: So this will be interesting to watch what happens here.
- 8:26Speaker 2: President Trump this weekend, for the first time, opened an
- 8:29Speaker 2: account on blue Sky and started tweeting on Blue Sky.
- 8:34Speaker 2: He made his debut. He took some of his best
- 8:38Speaker 2: memes and clips and put him into a montage. That
- 8:40Speaker 2: was his opening. He wrote, what's up blue Sky. We
- 8:43Speaker 2: thought you might have missed some of our greatest hits,
- 8:45Speaker 2: so we put this together for you. Now this is
- 8:47Speaker 2: taunting liberals. It'll be interesting to see what Blue Sky does.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Do they ban him, do they remove his account? Do
- 8:54Speaker 2: they shadow ban him, which means they'd leave you there,
- 8:56Speaker 2: But they can fix the algorithm so your feet doesn't
- 9:00Speaker 2: go to anybody, So keep an eye on that. James
- 9:04Speaker 2: call me His defense will make their first motions today
- 9:09Speaker 2: in court. Looks like with John Bolton, they absolutely have
- 9:12Speaker 2: him convicted. If you look at all the evidence, it
- 9:14Speaker 2: looks like there's no way out of this for Bolton.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Looks like a very easy conviction. Call me, should be convicted,
- 9:22Speaker 2: But you never know. It's a smaller charge. There may
- 9:25Speaker 2: be more charges coming against call me h. He's a
- 9:30Speaker 2: very bizarre guy. You know, he's a former Communist. You've
- 9:34Speaker 2: seen that Rush Limbaugh clip that's going around the internet. Yeah,
- 9:37Speaker 2: he was actual, he became he called himself a Republican.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Now most people think he was never ever really a Republican.
- 9:44Speaker 2: He just declared himself a Republican at one point, but
- 9:47Speaker 2: that was so he could be in the Bush administration
- 9:50Speaker 2: and it was more for you know, for his job
- 9:55Speaker 2: prospects to become a Republican. At that time, Republicans were
- 9:59Speaker 2: in power, so he declared himself for a Republican. But
- 10:02Speaker 2: he admits he was actually an active communist to member
- 10:05Speaker 2: the Communist Party. Same thing with the James Clapper, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 2: the CIA director, And these are two guys that were
- 10:11Speaker 2: responsible for all the dirty, sleazy stuff that went on
- 10:14Speaker 2: in the Deep State. Clapper was an actual member of
- 10:17Speaker 2: the Communist Party. He admits he voted for the Communist
- 10:20Speaker 2: candidate for president, so Comby as well. They were both
- 10:23Speaker 2: actual members of the Communist Party. We're just goes to
- 10:27Speaker 2: show you we came a long way from Joe McCarthy
- 10:30Speaker 2: used to be if you went to a meeting of
- 10:31Speaker 2: the Communist Party, were banned from everything forever. Now you
- 10:35Speaker 2: can be an actual registered Communist like Comy or Clapper,
- 10:39Speaker 2: and then you become the FBI director of the CIA director.
- 10:42Speaker 2: So things have definitely changed. Government shutdown continues. I just
- 10:46Speaker 2: mentioned that because most people won't notice. The Democrats kept saying, well, right,
- 10:51Speaker 2: we can't do anything until the No Kings March. Well
- 10:53Speaker 2: they did the No Kings March. Let's see if they
- 10:56Speaker 2: make any progress this week. The New York Jets, should
- 11:00Speaker 2: they be allowed to continue to play? There's a debate
- 11:04Speaker 2: going on. Should the New York Jets just stop playing?
- 11:08Speaker 2: Give up? Nobody knows what to do. There's an actual movement.
- 11:12Speaker 2: The problem is Woody Johnson is a very nice guy
- 11:15Speaker 2: and does a lot of great things in the real world.
- 11:18Speaker 2: But he bought the New York Jets years ago, and
- 11:20Speaker 2: he is, without question. I think everybody agrees on this,
- 11:24Speaker 2: the single worst owner in the history of sports. Nobody
- 11:28Speaker 2: has been. There's never been an owner this bad. They
- 11:31Speaker 2: just lose every game this season. They're zero to seven.
- 11:35Speaker 2: There are people yelling and screaming in the sports world
- 11:38Speaker 2: that there should be some mechanism to remove a team
- 11:42Speaker 2: from its owner, to force an owner out if he
- 11:45Speaker 2: really stinks as an owner, and it wouldn't be a
- 11:48Speaker 2: bad thing for Woody Johnson. I think he bought the team.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I think for I think it was six hundred or
- 11:54Speaker 2: seven hundred million, and they say now the team is
- 11:59Speaker 2: probably worth eight billion, possibly ten billion, So it'd be
- 12:03Speaker 2: a great deal for him to get out. Were people
- 12:06Speaker 2: were praying Trump would appoint him to something or make
- 12:09Speaker 2: him an ambassador, just to get him the hell out
- 12:11Speaker 2: of here. But that won't work either. The last time
- 12:13Speaker 2: that happened, his son took over and the Sun was
- 12:15Speaker 2: just as bad as an owner. But it's a total disaster,
- 12:18Speaker 2: zero and seven. They lose every game, doesn't matter, he said, Well,
- 12:22Speaker 2: maybe they should get some better players, doesn't matter. Whoever
- 12:25Speaker 2: they get, they ruin them. Remember Aaron Rodgers or whoever
- 12:28Speaker 2: they bring in, they ruin. It's it's just the worst
- 12:31Speaker 2: owner ever, the worst team ever. Hey, George Santos, this
- 12:35Speaker 2: was surprised to everybody. President Trump commuted his sentence. A
- 12:39Speaker 2: lot of people were pressuring him to do it. Santos,
- 12:43Speaker 2: he says, it's a nice guy. He's a cute guy Santos.
- 12:45Speaker 2: He you know, he lied in the race. He lied
- 12:49Speaker 2: about his resume, lied about everything. Well, so that Tim Waltz.
- 12:53Speaker 2: But and the problem was in the congressional race he
- 12:57Speaker 2: was in. He was up against a whole bunch of
- 12:58Speaker 2: amateurs who there was no real opposition, and they forgot
- 13:02Speaker 2: to do opposition research. They would have discovered these lives,
- 13:05Speaker 2: but they didn't until he got elected. Then people started
- 13:09Speaker 2: looking at him. But the bad part was he did
- 13:11Speaker 2: stuff where he defrauded people to get money out of them.
- 13:17Speaker 2: He did defraud people get money. So that's the criminal problem,
- 13:20Speaker 2: and that's the criminal charge. But he went through hell
- 13:22Speaker 2: in prison for a month or two, a couple of months,
- 13:25Speaker 2: three months, i think, and apparently the warden headed in
- 13:28Speaker 2: for him and was really rough on him. People were
- 13:31Speaker 2: appealing to President Trump over and over, political people, congress people, friends.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Finally Trump decided the guy was being treated in and
- 13:41Speaker 2: humanely in prison, so commuted his sentence. Now, the other
- 13:44Speaker 2: thing that got commuted, he did have to pay a
- 13:47Speaker 2: six hundred thousand dollars fine that got commuted as well,
- 13:50Speaker 2: So they have been a little over commuting there. But
- 13:54Speaker 2: here's George Santas. He got out of prison, and.
- 13:57Speaker 1: He's President Trump for and see and for having such
- 14:02Speaker 1: an amazing will for second chances.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:05Speaker 1: So I've made some poor choices in my life, but
- 14:09Speaker 1: nothing would warrant an insane, arbitrary sentence. But on top
- 14:13Speaker 1: of that, a sentence that no one else would have gotten,
- 14:17Speaker 1: a treatment that no one else would have gotten, forty
- 14:19Speaker 1: one days in isolation in the shoe.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yeah, they put him in solitary for forty one days.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I understand people want to make this into a He's
- 14:27Speaker 1: getting away with it, right. I'm not getting away with it.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I was the first person to ever go to federal
- 14:34Speaker 1: prison for this type of civil FEC violation. These are
- 14:37Speaker 1: usually solved in penalties, and I don't want to focus
- 14:41Speaker 1: on trying to rehash the pass. I want to take
- 14:43Speaker 1: this experience and do good and move on with the future.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Repentance is an understatement. It's like I have been dealt
- 14:51Speaker 1: a second chance.
- 14:52Speaker 8: I have.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I have a lot to prove to a lot of people,
- 14:56Speaker 1: and I have to make sure President Trump understands that
- 14:58Speaker 1: I am not going to this appoint.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Now. He did, you know, the fraud people get a
- 15:04Speaker 2: lot of money and he spent it on luxuries, on clothes,
- 15:08Speaker 2: on cars, on watches, all this stuff. But he has
- 15:13Speaker 2: been telling people after he got out of prison now
- 15:15Speaker 2: that it changed everything as far as wealth goes. And
- 15:18Speaker 2: he realized, you know, when you get out of prison,
- 15:21Speaker 2: he said, just to have your own toilet, just to
- 15:23Speaker 2: have your own bathroom, to be able to go to
- 15:25Speaker 2: the bathroom in private and closed doors, to have your
- 15:27Speaker 2: own shower and do it privately. And to have eat
- 15:31Speaker 2: actual real food instead of the worst food in the world.
- 15:35Speaker 2: To be able to, you know, go to bed when
- 15:37Speaker 2: you want. And he said, they realize that's the real wealth.
- 15:42Speaker 2: It changed everything. He no longer cares about the material
- 15:45Speaker 2: luxuries that he understands what real wealth is have your family,
- 15:49Speaker 2: your friends with you. So it's an interesting lesson for
- 15:52Speaker 2: everybody to remember. Hey, we'll take some calls in a moment.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is the number.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. Back to Marchmont. Hey,
- 16:07Speaker 2: let's take some calls. Let's go to Jimmy and New Milford. Jimmy,
- 16:11Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 16:14Speaker 9: Good morning, Mark Hawaiia.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I'm good Mark.
- 16:18Speaker 9: Did you know Shelley Fireman when he had the ten
- 16:21Speaker 9: Lizzy Steakhouse.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Well, a little before my time, but I knew Shelley
- 16:24Speaker 2: Fireman very well. He was one of the great restaurant
- 16:26Speaker 2: tours in New York. He owns the Red Eye Grill
- 16:28Speaker 2: Trotteria de Larte Fiorilla Bond forty five and he just
- 16:33Speaker 2: died at the end of ninety three. Yeah, he was
- 16:36Speaker 2: a great guy.
- 16:37Speaker 9: What happened, Mark, He had a ten Lsey car in
- 16:41Speaker 9: the center of the restaurant. And at the time I
- 16:44Speaker 9: was dating my wife, so to be a big shot,
- 16:47Speaker 9: what I did is I got my wife and her
- 16:50Speaker 9: parents tickets to the diata and dinner at the ten
- 16:54Speaker 9: Lizzy restaurant. And what happened when Shelley knew that it
- 16:58Speaker 9: was me who was making the arrangements, he shot them
- 17:02Speaker 9: in the living.
- 17:05Speaker 7: Parents said to me, not to me, said to Barbara.
- 17:09Speaker 9: Barbara, that guy should winner. For him to have the
- 17:13Speaker 9: older in a restaurant, it is for us. He has
- 17:16Speaker 9: to be great.
- 17:17Speaker 8: Wow, that was fifty three years ago.
- 17:19Speaker 2: He is great. That's a little again, a little before
- 17:21Speaker 2: our time, but he is great. It's Shelley Fireman. He
- 17:23Speaker 2: just passed away last week, ninety three years old. You know,
- 17:26Speaker 2: at ninety three, he was still working every day, going
- 17:28Speaker 2: to work every day. In fact, he just opened a
- 17:30Speaker 2: new restaurant called the Paris Bart's on fifty seventh between
- 17:35Speaker 2: sixth and seventh, but going to work every day. I
- 17:38Speaker 2: saw him a few months ago. He's very, very active,
- 17:41Speaker 2: and his restaurants are still great. Tritoria del Arte is great,
- 17:45Speaker 2: Red Eye Grill, Fiorella Cross from Lincoln Center, Bond forty five.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike, how you doing?
- 17:52Speaker 8: Good morning, Mark, Yes, Mike, I just wanted to mention
- 17:56Speaker 8: that today would Makeey Mantles ninety four birthday, So now
- 18:02Speaker 8: my fellow in New Yorkers would appreciate that.
- 18:04Speaker 10: I'm sure old number seven.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Yeah. That his restaurant on fifty ninth Street, Mickey Mantles.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Remember I did my show from there for one year
- 18:13Speaker 2: every day for Live from Mickey Mantles. We used to
- 18:15Speaker 2: have an audience every day. Mickey was there every day.
- 18:18Speaker 8: I saw him in there a couple of times.
- 18:19Speaker 9: Yeah, times I was there.
- 18:21Speaker 2: We could never put him on the air because he.
- 18:23Speaker 8: Was no.
- 18:26Speaker 9: He was taste testing the products.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Yes, thanks for calling. Yeah, I did my show there
- 18:31Speaker 2: live every day for a year and people say, why
- 18:33Speaker 2: don't you have Mickey Manlin, Why didn't you ever have
- 18:34Speaker 2: Mickey May? It was a no shape to go on
- 18:38Speaker 2: the air, but he was there every day with us,
- 18:40Speaker 2: and it was always an inspiration. You know, you're on
- 18:42Speaker 2: the air, but you can look over there and sitting
- 18:45Speaker 2: there was Mickey Mantle. I mean his head was kind
- 18:48Speaker 2: of slumped over, but it was Mickey Mantle.
- 18:50Speaker 7: Mom.
- 18:50Speaker 2: No less, Let's go to Rich and Myrtle Beach. Rich,
- 18:52Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 18:54Speaker 8: And thanks Mark? That brings that good memories. I was
- 18:56Speaker 8: born in the Bronx. I remember seeing Mickey play and
- 18:58Speaker 8: some of those terrible Yankee seams in the early seventies
- 19:01Speaker 8: and late sixties. You know this, George Santo's pardon was
- 19:04Speaker 8: the greatest fu to the Democrats, Bloominghroal Biden, all these
- 19:09Speaker 8: Plagiariyes and lion Democrats and Liberals, and it was just
- 19:13Speaker 8: a big, you know, f you to all those people.
- 19:15Speaker 8: Trumpted an awesome thing by that. I couldn't be happier
- 19:17Speaker 8: for that guy.
- 19:17Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, but you know.
- 19:19Speaker 8: They've a't done the same thing, they'ven't done the exact
- 19:21Speaker 8: same thing and got away with it.
- 19:22Speaker 2: No, he does a lot of these FEUs to the liberals,
- 19:24Speaker 2: but you got to be carey. You don't want to
- 19:25Speaker 2: do too many of them. But what do I know?
- 19:27Speaker 2: I mean, every time I tell him he's gone too far,
- 19:29Speaker 2: as too much, he always turns out to be right
- 19:32Speaker 2: in the end. Let's go to Vincent and Brooklyn.
- 19:34Speaker 10: Vincent, how you doing, Good morning, Mark, Good morning Mara.
- 19:38Speaker 10: As far as George Santo's getting out of the joint,
- 19:41Speaker 10: the after forty days, he was in forty days in
- 19:45Speaker 10: solitary confinement, as George Santos said it, the cell had
- 19:50Speaker 10: bed bugs and lice and eating that crappy food. As
- 19:54Speaker 10: you pointed out that I'm sure every cook and every
- 19:58Speaker 10: handler in the kitchen, you know, spit in his food.
- 20:04Speaker 10: So doing forty days in solitary confinement is like doing
- 20:08Speaker 10: four months and better. And I believe he really got
- 20:13Speaker 10: a good taste of, no pun intended, what it's like
- 20:17Speaker 10: being in the joint.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Mark. I'm no fan of Andrew Cuomo, but in response
- 20:24Speaker 4: to what Zorn Mandani said at that stupid debate the
- 20:27Speaker 4: other night, when he leans across the podium the table
- 20:32Speaker 4: and goes, how many mosques have you visited? Andrew well, conversely, Zoren,
- 20:39Speaker 4: how many synagogues have you gone into? Have you gone
- 20:42Speaker 4: into the biggest synagogue in New York City down on
- 20:44Speaker 4: the Eastern Parkway where the sap pot Vincent.
- 20:48Speaker 2: That's a brilliant point. Why didn't Cuomo think of that?
- 20:50Speaker 4: That's pro well because his brain is as you said,
- 20:53Speaker 4: he's taken too many of those shots, and I think
- 20:56Speaker 4: it's actually shrinking the size of his brain.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Not only is uh we got the picture.
- 21:04Speaker 4: And another thing I want to say. Saturday, I'm listening
- 21:07Speaker 4: to one of the shows up the dial, a financial show,
- 21:12Speaker 4: and this economist sometimes he's like, comes on your show
- 21:16Speaker 4: and his sick liberal that was thrown off all the
- 21:19Speaker 4: other shows at night, the over shows at night, the
- 21:22Speaker 4: guys about seventy four years old from the Bronx, a
- 21:25Speaker 4: Jewish liberal fins gets on the economist show. I'm not
- 21:31Speaker 4: going to mention his name and start screaming everything in
- 21:34Speaker 4: the world. Trump is this, that and the other, and
- 21:37Speaker 4: then the last one. Trump weaponizes the Justice Department to
- 21:42Speaker 4: go after his is these individuals, and this economist says,
- 21:47Speaker 4: I'm against tariffs and I'm also against weaponizing the justice.
- 21:53Speaker 2: But let me just explain that's not lawfair. Lawfairs. When
- 21:55Speaker 2: you get in lawfairs, when you get yeah, lawfairs, when
- 21:59Speaker 2: you're get in dieted four cities at the same time,
- 22:01Speaker 2: that's one man.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Can I say that he forgets to mention that all
- 22:05Speaker 4: these companies and the countries are putting twenty seven thirty
- 22:10Speaker 4: fifty percent tariffs on us. And also the fact that Vincent.
- 22:15Speaker 2: We we gotta go though, because we got a great call.
- 22:17Speaker 2: We got the greatest living DJ in the world waiting.
- 22:20Speaker 2: We're going to talk to Scott Shannon next on seven
- 22:24Speaker 2: to ten WR. If you're listening to Mark on the
- 22:27Speaker 2: iHeartRadio app, save time and tap the Breeset button now.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Now back to the Mark Simone Show on wor Well,
- 22:35Speaker 2: Ladies and Doublin a radio god. You know they got
- 22:38Speaker 2: the Radio Hall of Fame. This is like he would
- 22:40Speaker 2: be on the radio Mount Rushmore, the greatest living DJ.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Scott Shannon of course of the true oldies channel. You
- 22:46Speaker 2: can listen to that and it's great to happen with us.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Scott Shannon, how you doing.
- 22:51Speaker 7: I'm so happy to be here on seven ten wor
- 22:55Speaker 7: home of the Sean Hennity Show and the legendary Marks.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Moon and you are the voice of the Sean Hannity
- 23:03Speaker 2: Show of course every day.
- 23:05Speaker 7: But he's a neighbor of mine, you know.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Oh you mean in Florida. Yeah, yeah, I.
- 23:11Speaker 7: Mean I don't live right down the street from him,
- 23:15Speaker 7: but I'm close by. Let's put it that way. It's
- 23:17Speaker 7: a different area, let's put it that way.
- 23:20Speaker 2: And when you're near his house, tell us about the noise,
- 23:22Speaker 2: the loud parties. Is that what's going on there?
- 23:25Speaker 7: No, there's nothing going on. By the way, I thought
- 23:29Speaker 7: about you the other night. I was my wife's birthday
- 23:32Speaker 7: was on Saturday, and we went to eat probably a
- 23:37Speaker 7: place you go to La Penguin.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Penguin is Greenwich, right, that's correct.
- 23:45Speaker 7: Yes, Well, we were going in there and I noticed
- 23:49Speaker 7: the guy's sitting on the table next to me. He
- 23:52Speaker 7: kept looking at me and he said, aren't you Scott Shannon.
- 23:55Speaker 7: I said yeah, And I thought he might listen to
- 23:58Speaker 7: me on the True Oldies chap or an old PLJ. Listen.
- 24:03Speaker 7: I listened to you all the time on Mark some
- 24:05Speaker 7: own show.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Well, you see, that's our audience, that very upscale, well
- 24:10Speaker 2: to do love Penguin type crowd. That's who listens to.
- 24:13Speaker 7: That's amazing, I said, yeah, the fact I'm going to
- 24:17Speaker 7: be on there coming Monday, I said, you know, we
- 24:22Speaker 7: often discuss the power of the Swifties. Yeah, and you're
- 24:26Speaker 7: always amazed at how popular she is and how many
- 24:30Speaker 7: albums she sells. But now this is kind of weird.
- 24:34Speaker 7: Did you hear about the museum in Germany? No, Well,
- 24:40Speaker 7: there's a big, famous museum there. I don't know what
- 24:44Speaker 7: the name of the place is. But they have a
- 24:46Speaker 7: picture of the Shakespeare character Ophelia. And there's a song
- 24:53Speaker 7: on her album, you know, the very popular Life of
- 24:57Speaker 7: a Showgirl, and it's the first single, I believe, And
- 25:01Speaker 7: that's all these Swifties are flocking to the museum to
- 25:07Speaker 7: take pictures and to be there and look at Ophelia.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Hey, how does that what? You say?
- 25:14Speaker 8: No?
- 25:14Speaker 7: And also she's doing she has a video of it
- 25:17Speaker 7: that they've had like, I don't know, some like seventy
- 25:21Speaker 7: million views already. In the video she becomes she plays Ophelia,
- 25:29Speaker 7: and she's, you know, has some kind of white gown
- 25:32Speaker 7: and she's in a bed of water lilies and all that.
- 25:35Speaker 7: And I think the play the museum weiss modern. Do
- 25:39Speaker 7: I say that.
- 25:40Speaker 10: Right, yeah, yeah, oh yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 7: But just more more proof that these Swifties are such
- 25:47Speaker 7: big fans.
- 25:48Speaker 2: So how does this work? They make an album, there's
- 25:50Speaker 2: twelve songs, and then they tell all the radio stations
- 25:53Speaker 2: this will be the first single, this is the one
- 25:54Speaker 2: we want you to play.
- 25:56Speaker 7: That's how it works. However, believe it or not, I
- 25:59Speaker 7: think he occupied the top ten places with singles from
- 26:04Speaker 7: the album, just songs from the album.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but there have been cases where you guys, like
- 26:11Speaker 2: a smart guy with great ears, like you'll hear another
- 26:14Speaker 2: said wait a minute, this is the one and you'll
- 26:16Speaker 2: play that and that'll be coming hit.
- 26:18Speaker 7: Without the That happened has happened to me several times
- 26:21Speaker 7: in my life. Want to involved the group that's been
- 26:24Speaker 7: in the headlines lately. Kiss. Yeah, you know. I left
- 26:30Speaker 7: the radio business for a short period back in the seventies.
- 26:33Speaker 7: I was young and crazy and wanted to live in
- 26:36Speaker 7: La I didn't know, I didn't understand what a hell hole.
- 26:42Speaker 7: But I got a job at Casa Blanca Records, which
- 26:46Speaker 7: had Kiss on their label. I happened. I knew the CEO,
- 26:51Speaker 7: the owner, Neil Bogard, you know his name. They had
- 26:54Speaker 7: a movie about him. That was a big flop I had.
- 26:57Speaker 7: When Kiss first started. He won. All he wanted to
- 27:00Speaker 7: do was get Kiss played on top forty radio. So
- 27:04Speaker 7: I suggested that they record this song I thought to
- 27:07Speaker 7: be cute. It was an oldie from the sixties done
- 27:11Speaker 7: by maybe you remember Bobby Rydell and Kissing Time.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Bobby Rydell's still around, isn't he?
- 27:18Speaker 7: No, he's passed. I'm sorry.
- 27:20Speaker 2: A couple of years ago he was still around.
- 27:23Speaker 7: But the group Kiss actually we had to record that
- 27:27Speaker 7: because I said that, and Gene Simmons never let me
- 27:30Speaker 7: forget that year the A hole made us record that song,
- 27:35Speaker 7: Kissing Time. And I also actually toured with the band.
- 27:41Speaker 7: He put me on the road with the band to
- 27:44Speaker 7: go around the different cities and get them interviewed on
- 27:48Speaker 7: the radio stations and possibly they would play their music
- 27:53Speaker 7: and we were doing And you got to understand, Ace
- 27:56Speaker 7: Frehley was a different kind of musician. He was, you know,
- 28:02Speaker 7: he was a little whacky, but he a little bit
- 28:08Speaker 7: more whacky, but he was a great guitar player. Ace
- 28:12Speaker 7: Frayley was an awesome guitar player, and as you know,
- 28:16Speaker 7: he just died at the age of seventy four, he
- 28:19Speaker 7: fell at his home. He's got a home studio, and
- 28:23Speaker 7: he got a brain bleed and they kept him alive
- 28:27Speaker 7: like four or five weeks, and he finally passed away
- 28:31Speaker 7: on Friday. But he was a very special guy. And
- 28:36Speaker 7: the funny part about it is the guys who actually
- 28:39Speaker 7: threw him out of the band all of a sudden
- 28:42Speaker 7: love him. They put out these statements about Ace Frayley
- 28:46Speaker 7: and Gene Simmons and the singer Paul Stanley actually run
- 28:51Speaker 7: that thing. You know, that's the that's their baby. And
- 28:56Speaker 7: if you were if you worked in the band, you
- 28:58Speaker 7: had a salary, but they owned the band, so to speak.
- 29:02Speaker 2: I didn't know. Now this year, you spent a year
- 29:05Speaker 2: on the road with him, I imagine, do a concert,
- 29:07Speaker 2: go right back to hotel, go right to sleep.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Right.
- 29:09Speaker 2: No, there were no parties nothing.
- 29:12Speaker 7: They had parties every night. Don't remember that song rock
- 29:16Speaker 7: and roll all night and party every day. That's kiss.
- 29:20Speaker 7: And it's a funny thing about it too, that the
- 29:23Speaker 7: Ace Ace and Peter Chris, the drummer, both had problems
- 29:30Speaker 7: in certain areas. All right. Every every time I'd go
- 29:34Speaker 7: out with Ace Frehley to the radio station, he always
- 29:38Speaker 7: had a bottle of Blue Nun, remember that wine. He
- 29:43Speaker 7: would carry the Blue Nun bottle with him everywhere he
- 29:47Speaker 7: went and just sip off of it. And I remember
- 29:50Speaker 7: we were we were doing an autograph party in Atlanta,
- 29:54Speaker 7: Remember the Peaches record stores. They were huge, and we
- 30:00Speaker 7: were doing a personal appearance. And back then, they wore
- 30:04Speaker 7: all those Kiss outfits everywhere they went. That was what
- 30:08Speaker 7: they did. So they get up and get They wanted
- 30:10Speaker 7: to be famous and successful so bad. They had makeup
- 30:15Speaker 7: artists and makeup do all their makeup and get in
- 30:17Speaker 7: those big stupid boots and they would it would go
- 30:21Speaker 7: to the station with me, and also I would take
- 30:24Speaker 7: them to We set up this big, big promotion at
- 30:28Speaker 7: the Peaches store. So there was probably five thousand kids
- 30:34Speaker 7: in line to meet Kiss, and all of a sudden
- 30:37Speaker 7: they got ready to leave. They had a couple of
- 30:40Speaker 7: limos out front, and Jeane Simmons says, Hey, Scott, where
- 30:45Speaker 7: the hell is Ace. I said, I don't know, I
- 30:48Speaker 7: don't know where Ace is. Let me look around. So
- 30:50Speaker 7: I found him. I came back out and he was
- 30:52Speaker 7: talking to the manager of the Peaches store and they
- 30:56Speaker 7: were sipping his Blue Nun bottle. Back in the store
- 31:00Speaker 7: room and I came back. I said, Ace, it's time
- 31:03Speaker 7: to go, and Jeane says, he's going to leave without
- 31:06Speaker 7: you taking the limos. So sure enough, Simmons just took
- 31:11Speaker 7: off and took the other two members, Peter and Paul,
- 31:16Speaker 7: but left Ace in full uniform in the back room
- 31:19Speaker 7: at the Peaches with me.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Hard to hail a cab dressed.
- 31:23Speaker 7: Like that, So I was going to get a cab.
- 31:26Speaker 7: He's got those big booths on. He says, Nah, it's
- 31:29Speaker 7: right down the street. Let's just walk down there. So
- 31:32Speaker 7: we're in right on Peachtree Boulevard in Atlanta, walking down
- 31:37Speaker 7: the street and some kids come by. They were at
- 31:41Speaker 7: the I guess, at the thing and they had like
- 31:43Speaker 7: this little Ford, I don't know what it was, a
- 31:47Speaker 7: very small Ford Falcon or something like that, and say,
- 31:51Speaker 7: you guys want to ride and he said, yeah, we'll
- 31:55Speaker 7: go with you. And he had to put his friend
- 31:58Speaker 7: in the back seat because Ace could and sit back
- 32:00Speaker 7: there because they had the big boots on. So we're going.
- 32:03Speaker 7: There's only two blocks down the road and the kid says, hey,
- 32:07Speaker 7: you're funny.
- 32:08Speaker 4: You dressed up like Ace Frayley to come to the
- 32:11Speaker 4: Teacher Store.
- 32:12Speaker 7: I said no, no, this is Ace, and the kid swat.
- 32:16Speaker 7: He pulled the car over and he says, oh my god,
- 32:20Speaker 7: Ace Frayley's in my car and he looks over him
- 32:22Speaker 7: and they can't even talk at that point, and so
- 32:26Speaker 7: finally they drop us off at the hotel. That was
- 32:29Speaker 7: pretty funny. And you got to remember when when Kiss
- 32:33Speaker 7: finally got fairly successful, they all four put out solo albums.
- 32:38Speaker 7: That was Neil Bogart's idea. They put out solo albums
- 32:42Speaker 7: and Kiss I mean and Ace had the only one
- 32:45Speaker 7: that really sold. That was the biggest of all four.
- 32:48Speaker 7: He had the biggest following and the only and the
- 32:51Speaker 7: only big hit. You remember that song called back in
- 32:55Speaker 7: the New York Group.
- 32:56Speaker 2: I love that song. That's right, huge shit. Hey we
- 32:58Speaker 2: got to We're out of time, but continue this next time.
- 33:01Speaker 7: Yeah, I got a lot, I got I'll go wait,
