- 0:00Speaker 1: Ether Chapter one. And now I maron, I proceed to
- 0:05Speaker 1: give an account of those ancient inhabitants who were destroyed
- 0:07Speaker 1: by the hand of the Lord upon the face of
- 0:09Speaker 1: this north country. And I take mine account from the
- 0:12Speaker 1: twenty and four plates which were found by the people
- 0:14Speaker 1: of Limhai, which is called the Book of Ether. And
- 0:17Speaker 1: as I suppose that the first part of this record,
- 0:19Speaker 1: which speaks concerning the creation of the world, and also
- 0:22Speaker 1: of Adam, and an account from that time even to
- 0:24Speaker 1: the Great Tower, and whatsoever things transpired among the children
- 0:27Speaker 1: of men until that time, is had among the Jews.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Therefore I do not write those things which transpired from
- 0:33Speaker 1: the days of Adam until that time. They are had
- 0:35Speaker 1: upon the plates, and whoso findeth them the same will
- 0:38Speaker 1: have power that he may get the full account. But behold,
- 0:41Speaker 1: I give not the full account, but a part of
- 0:43Speaker 1: the account I give from the tower down until they
- 0:45Speaker 1: were destroyed. And on this wise do I give the account.
- 0:49Speaker 1: He that wrote this record was Ether, and he was
- 0:51Speaker 1: a descendant of Krianterer, and Krianter was the son of Morn,
- 0:55Speaker 1: and Morn was the son of Ethem, and Ethel was
- 0:58Speaker 1: the son of Aha, and Deha was the son of Seth,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and Seth was the son of Shiblin, and Shiblin was
- 1:04Speaker 1: the son of Coombe, and Coombe was the son of Kriantum,
- 1:07Speaker 1: and Kriantum was the son of Amnagada, and Amnagada was
- 1:11Speaker 1: the son of Erin, and Erin was a descendant of Heath,
- 1:14Speaker 1: who was the son of h Artham, and he Artham
- 1:16Speaker 1: was the son of Lib, and Lib was the son
- 1:18Speaker 1: of Kish, and Kish was the son of Koram, and
- 1:21Speaker 1: Koram was the son of Levi, and Levi was the
- 1:24Speaker 1: son of Kim, and Kim was the son of Moriantin,
- 1:28Speaker 1: and Moriantin was a descendant of Ripley Kish and replay
- 1:31Speaker 1: Kish was the son of Shez, and Schez was the
- 1:34Speaker 1: son of Heth, and Heth was the son of Comb
- 1:37Speaker 1: and Combe was the son of Koorantum, and Koreantem was
- 1:40Speaker 1: the son of Emr and Emer was the son of Omer,
- 1:43Speaker 1: and Omer was the son of Shul, and Shul was
- 1:46Speaker 1: the son of KiB, and KiB was the son of Araha,
- 1:48Speaker 1: who was the son of Jared, which Jared came forth
- 1:51Speaker 1: with his brother and their families with some others, and
- 1:54Speaker 1: their families from the Great Tower. At the time the
- 1:56Speaker 1: Lord confounded the language of the people and swore in
- 1:59Speaker 1: his wrath that they should be scattered upon all the
- 2:01Speaker 1: face of the earth. And according to the word of
- 2:03Speaker 1: the Lord, the people were scattered. And the brother of Jared,
- 2:07Speaker 1: being a large and mighty man and a man highly
- 2:09Speaker 1: favored of the Lord, Jared his brother said unto him,
- 2:12Speaker 1: cry unto the Lord, that he will not confound us,
- 2:15Speaker 1: that we may not understand our words. And it came
- 2:18Speaker 1: to pass that the brother of Jared did cry unto
- 2:20Speaker 1: the Lord, and the Lord had compassion upon Jared. Therefore
- 2:23Speaker 1: he did not confound the language of Jared, and Jared
- 2:26Speaker 1: and his brother were not confounded. Then Jared said unto
- 2:29Speaker 1: his brother, cry again unto the Lord, and it may
- 2:32Speaker 1: be that he will turn away his anger from them
- 2:33Speaker 1: who are our friends, that he confound not their language.
- 2:37Speaker 1: And it came to pass that the brother of Jared
- 2:39Speaker 1: did cry unto the Lord, and the Lord had compassion
- 2:41Speaker 1: upon their friends and their families also that they were
- 2:43Speaker 1: not confounded. And it came to pass that Jared spake
- 2:47Speaker 1: again unto his brother, saying, go and inquire of the
- 2:49Speaker 1: Lord whether he will drive us out of the land.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And if you will drive us out of the land,
- 2:54Speaker 1: cry unto him whither we shall go. And who knoweth
- 2:56Speaker 1: but the Lord will carry us forth into a land
- 2:58Speaker 1: which is choice above all the earth. And if it
- 3:01Speaker 1: so be, let us be faithful unto the Lord, that
- 3:03Speaker 1: we may receive it for our inheritance. And it came
- 3:07Speaker 1: to pass that the brother of Jared did cry into
- 3:09Speaker 1: the Lord according to that which had been spoken by
- 3:11Speaker 1: the mouth of Jared. And it came to pass that
- 3:13Speaker 1: the Lord did hear the brother of Jared, and had
- 3:15Speaker 1: compassion upon him, and said unto him, go too, and
- 3:18Speaker 1: gather together thy flocks, both male and female, of every kind,
- 3:22Speaker 1: and also of the seed of the earth, of every kind,
- 3:24Speaker 1: and thy families, and also Jared, thy brother and his family,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and also thy friends and their families, and the friends
- 3:30Speaker 1: of Jared and their families. And when thou hast done this,
- 3:33Speaker 1: thou shalt go at the head of them down into
- 3:35Speaker 1: the valley which is northward, And there will I meet Thee.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And I will go before THEE into a land which
- 3:40Speaker 1: is choice above all the lands of the earth. And
- 3:43Speaker 1: there will I bless THEE and thy seed, and raise
- 3:45Speaker 1: up unto me of thy seed and of the seed
- 3:47Speaker 1: of thy brother. And they who shall go with THEE
- 3:49Speaker 1: a great nation. And there shall be none greater than
- 3:52Speaker 1: the nation which I will raise up unto me of
- 3:54Speaker 1: thy seed upon all the face of the earth. And
- 3:56Speaker 1: this I will do unto THEE, because this long time
- 3:59Speaker 1: ye have cried unto me ether Chapter two. And it
- 4:06Speaker 1: came to pass that Jared and his brother and their families,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and also the friends of Jared and his brother and
- 4:11Speaker 1: their families, went down into the valley which was northward,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and the name of the valley was Nimrad, being called
- 4:17Speaker 1: after the mighty hunter, with their flocks, which they had
- 4:20Speaker 1: gathered together, male and female of every kind. And they
- 4:23Speaker 1: did also lay snares and catch fowls of the air.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And they did also prepare a vessel, in which they
- 4:27Speaker 1: did carry with them the fish of the waters. And
- 4:30Speaker 1: they did also carry with them deseret, which by interpretation
- 4:33Speaker 1: is a honey bee. And thus they did carry with
- 4:35Speaker 1: them swarms of bees, and all manner of that which
- 4:38Speaker 1: was upon the face of the land, seeds of every kind.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And it came to pass that when they had come
- 4:43Speaker 1: down into the valley of Nimrad, the Lord came down
- 4:45Speaker 1: and talked with the brother of Jared, and he was
- 4:47Speaker 1: in a cloud, and the brother of Jared saw him not.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And it came to pass that the Lord commanded them
- 4:52Speaker 1: that they should go forth into the wilderness, ye ate
- 4:55Speaker 1: into that quarter where there never had man been. And
- 4:58Speaker 1: it came to pass that the Lord did go before
- 5:00Speaker 1: them and did talk with them as he stood in
- 5:02Speaker 1: a cloud, and gave directions whether they should travel. And
- 5:05Speaker 1: it came to pass that they did travel in the wilderness,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and did build barges in which they did cross many waters,
- 5:10Speaker 1: being directed continually by the hand of the Lord. And
- 5:13Speaker 1: the Lord would not suffer that they should stop beyond
- 5:15Speaker 1: the sea in the wilderness, but he would that they
- 5:18Speaker 1: should come forth even into the land of Promise, which
- 5:20Speaker 1: was choice above all other lands, which the Lord God
- 5:23Speaker 1: had preserved for a righteous people. And he had sworn
- 5:26Speaker 1: in his wrath unto the brother of Jared, that whoso
- 5:29Speaker 1: should possess this land of Promise from that time henceforth
- 5:31Speaker 1: and forever should serve him the True and only God,
- 5:35Speaker 1: or they should be swept off when the fullness of
- 5:36Speaker 1: his wrath should come upon them. And now we can
- 5:39Speaker 1: behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it
- 5:42Speaker 1: is a land of promise, and whatsoever nation shall possess
- 5:45Speaker 1: it shall serve God, or they shall be swept off
- 5:48Speaker 1: when the fullness of His wrath shall come upon them,
- 5:50Speaker 1: And the fullness of His wrath cometh upon them when
- 5:52Speaker 1: they are ripened in iniquity. For behold, this is a
- 5:55Speaker 1: land which is choice above all other lands. Wherefore he
- 5:58Speaker 1: that doth possess it shall serve God, or or shall
- 6:00Speaker 1: be swept off. For it is the everlasting decree of God.
- 6:03Speaker 1: And it is not until the fullness of iniquity among
- 6:06Speaker 1: the children of the land that they are swept off.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And this cometh unto you, o, you gentiles, that ye
- 6:11Speaker 1: may know the decrees of God, that ye may repent
- 6:13Speaker 1: and not continue in your iniquities until the fullness come,
- 6:16Speaker 1: that ye may not bring down the fullness of the
- 6:18Speaker 1: wrath of God upon you, as the inhabitants of the
- 6:20Speaker 1: land have hitherto done. Behold, this is a choice land,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and whatsoever nations shall possess it shall be free from
- 6:26Speaker 1: bondage and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven,
- 6:30Speaker 1: if they will but serve the God of the land.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Who is Jesus Christ, who hath been manifested by the
- 6:35Speaker 1: things which we have written. And now I proceed with
- 6:38Speaker 1: my record. For behold, it came to pass that the
- 6:40Speaker 1: Lord did bring Jared and his brethren forth, even to
- 6:43Speaker 1: that great sea which divideth the lands. And as they
- 6:46Speaker 1: came to the sea, they pitched their tents, and they
- 6:48Speaker 1: called the name of the place more Aancomer. And they
- 6:50Speaker 1: dwelt intense, and dwelt in tents upon the sea shore
- 6:53Speaker 1: for the space of four years. And it came to
- 6:56Speaker 1: pass at the end of four years that the Lord
- 6:57Speaker 1: came again unto the brother of Jared, and in a cloud,
- 7:00Speaker 1: and talked with him. And for the space of three
- 7:02Speaker 1: hours did the Lord talk with the brother of Jared,
- 7:05Speaker 1: and chastened him because he remembered not to call upon
- 7:07Speaker 1: the name of the Lord. And the brother of Jared
- 7:09Speaker 1: repented of the evil which he had done, and did
- 7:11Speaker 1: call upon the name of the Lord for his brethren
- 7:13Speaker 1: who were with him. And the Lord said unto him,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I will forgive thee and thy brethren of their sins,
- 7:19Speaker 1: but thou shalt not sin any more, for ye shall
- 7:21Speaker 1: remember that my spirit will not always strive with man. Wherefore,
- 7:24Speaker 1: if ye will sin until ye are fully ripe, ye
- 7:26Speaker 1: shall be cut off from the presence of the Lord.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And these are my thoughts upon the land which I
- 7:30Speaker 1: shall give you for your inheritance, for it shall be
- 7:33Speaker 1: a land choice above all other lands. And the Lord said,
- 7:36Speaker 1: go to work and build after the manner of barges
- 7:38Speaker 1: which he have hitherto built. And it came to pass
- 7:41Speaker 1: that the brother of Jared did go to work, and
- 7:43Speaker 1: also his brethren, and built barges after the manner which
- 7:45Speaker 1: they had built, according to the instructions of the Lord.
- 7:48Speaker 1: And they were small, and they were light upon the water,
- 7:51Speaker 1: even like unto the lightness of a fowl upon the water.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And they were built after a manner that they were
- 7:56Speaker 1: exceedingly tight, even that they would hold water like unto
- 7:59Speaker 1: a dish. And the bottom thereof was tight like unto
- 8:02Speaker 1: a dish, and the sides thereof were tight like unto
- 8:05Speaker 1: a dish, and the ends thereof were peaked, and the
- 8:07Speaker 1: top thereof was tight like unto a dish. And the
- 8:10Speaker 1: length thereof was the length of a tree. And the
- 8:12Speaker 1: door thereof, when it was shut, was tight like unto
- 8:15Speaker 1: a dish, And it came to pass that the brother
- 8:17Speaker 1: of Jared cried unto the Lord, saying, O Lord, I
- 8:20Speaker 1: have performed the work which thou hast commanded me, and
- 8:22Speaker 1: I have made the barges according as thou hast directed me.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And behold, O Lord, in them there is no light
- 8:28Speaker 1: whither shall we steer, And also we shall perish, for
- 8:32Speaker 1: in them we cannot breathe save it is the air
- 8:34Speaker 1: which is in them. Therefore we shall perish. And the
- 8:37Speaker 1: Lord said unto the brother of Jared, behold, thou shalt
- 8:40Speaker 1: make a hole in the top and also in the bottom.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And when thou shalt suffer for air, thou shalt unstop
- 8:45Speaker 1: the hole and receive air. And if it be so
- 8:47Speaker 1: that the water coming upon thee, behold, ye shall stop
- 8:50Speaker 1: the hole, that ye may not perish in the flood.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And it came to pass that the brother of Jared
- 8:55Speaker 1: did so according as the Lord had commanded, and he
- 8:57Speaker 1: cried again unto the Lord, saying, O Lord, behold, I
- 9:00Speaker 1: have done even as thou hast commanded me, and I
- 9:02Speaker 1: have prepared the vessels for my people. And behold there
- 9:05Speaker 1: is no light in them. Behold, O Lord, wilt thou
- 9:07Speaker 1: suffer that we shall cross this great water in darkness.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And the Lord said, unto the brother of Gered, what
- 9:13Speaker 1: will ye that I should do that ye may have
- 9:15Speaker 1: light in your vessels? For behold, ye cannot have windows,
- 9:17Speaker 1: for they will be dashed in pieces. Neither shall ye
- 9:20Speaker 1: take fire with you, for ye shall not go by
- 9:22Speaker 1: the light of fire. For behold, ye shall be as
- 9:24Speaker 1: a wail in the midst of the sea, for the
- 9:26Speaker 1: mountain a wave shall dash upon you. Nevertheless, I will
- 9:30Speaker 1: bring you up again out of the depths of the sea.
- 9:32Speaker 1: For the winds have gone forth out of my mouth,
- 9:34Speaker 1: and also the rains and the floods have I sent forth.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And behold, I prepare you against these things, for ye
- 9:40Speaker 1: cannot cross this great deep. Save I prepare you against
- 9:42Speaker 1: the waves of the sea, and the winds which have
- 9:44Speaker 1: gone forth, and the floods which shall come. Therefore, what
- 9:47Speaker 1: will ye that I should prepare for you, that ye
- 9:50Speaker 1: may have light when ye are swallowed up in the
- 9:51Speaker 1: depths of the sea? Ether Chapter three. Then it came
- 9:59Speaker 1: to that the brother of Jared, now the number of
- 10:02Speaker 1: the vessels which had been prepared was eight, went forth
- 10:05Speaker 1: unto the mount which they called the Mount shelam because
- 10:07Speaker 1: of its exceeding height, and did molten out of a
- 10:10Speaker 1: rock sixteen small stones, and they were white and clear,
- 10:13Speaker 1: even his transparent glass. And he did carry them in
- 10:16Speaker 1: his hands upon the top of the mount, and cried
- 10:18Speaker 1: again unto the Lord, saying, O Lord, thou hast said
- 10:21Speaker 1: that we must be encompassed about by the floods. Now, behold,
- 10:24Speaker 1: o Lord, and do not be angry with thy servant
- 10:26Speaker 1: because of his weakness before THEE. For we know that
- 10:29Speaker 1: thou art holy and dwellest in the heavens, and that
- 10:31Speaker 1: we are unworthy before THEE because of the fall. Our
- 10:34Speaker 1: natures have become evil continually. Nevertheless, O Lord, thou hast
- 10:38Speaker 1: given us a commandment that we must call upon THEE,
- 10:41Speaker 1: that from THEE we may receive according to our desires. Behold,
- 10:44Speaker 1: O Lord, thou hast smitten us because of our iniquity,
- 10:47Speaker 1: and hath driven us forth, and for these many years
- 10:49Speaker 1: we have been in the wilderness. Nevertheless, thou hast been
- 10:52Speaker 1: merciful unto us, O Lord, look upon me in pity,
- 10:55Speaker 1: and turn away thine anger from this thy people, and
- 10:57Speaker 1: suffer not that they shall go forth across this rage
- 11:00Speaker 1: deep in darkness, but behold these things which I have
- 11:02Speaker 1: molted out of the rock. And I know, O Lord,
- 11:05Speaker 1: that thou hast all power and can do whatsoever thou
- 11:07Speaker 1: wilt for the benefit of man. Therefore, touch these stones,
- 11:11Speaker 1: o Lord, with thy finger, and prepare them that they
- 11:13Speaker 1: may shine forth in darkness. And they shall shine forth
- 11:16Speaker 1: unto us in the vessels which we have prepared, that
- 11:18Speaker 1: we may have light while we cross the sea. Behold,
- 11:21Speaker 1: O Lord, thou canst do this. We know that thou
- 11:24Speaker 1: art able to show forth great power, which looks small,
- 11:26Speaker 1: into the understanding of men. And it came to pass that,
- 11:29Speaker 1: when the brother of Jared had said these words, behold,
- 11:32Speaker 1: the Lord stretched forth his hand and touched the stones
- 11:34Speaker 1: one by one with his finger, and the veil was
- 11:36Speaker 1: taken from off the eyes of the brother of Jared.
- 11:39Speaker 1: And he saw the finger of the Lord, and it
- 11:41Speaker 1: was as the finger of a man like unto flesh
- 11:43Speaker 1: and blood. And the brother of Jared fell down before
- 11:46Speaker 1: the Lord, for he was struck with fear. And the
- 11:48Speaker 1: Lord saw that the brother of Jared had fallen to
- 11:50Speaker 1: the earth. And the Lord said unto him, arise, why
- 11:53Speaker 1: hast thou fallen? And he saith unto the Lord. I
- 11:56Speaker 1: saw the finger of the Lord, and I feared lest
- 11:58Speaker 1: he should smite me, for I know not that the
- 12:00Speaker 1: Lord had flesh and blood. And the Lord said, unto him,
- 12:04Speaker 1: because of thy faith, thou hast seen that I shall
- 12:06Speaker 1: take upon me flesh and blood. And never has man
- 12:08Speaker 1: come before me with such exceeding faith as thou hast.
- 12:11Speaker 1: For were it not so, ye could not have seen
- 12:13Speaker 1: my finger. Sawest thou more than this? And he answered, nay, Lord,
- 12:18Speaker 1: show thyself unto me. And the Lord said, unto him,
- 12:22Speaker 1: believest thou the words which I shall speak. And he answered,
- 12:25Speaker 1: yea Lord, I know that thou speakest the truth, for
- 12:28Speaker 1: thou art a God of truth, and canst not lie.
- 12:31Speaker 1: And when he had said these words, behold, the Lord
- 12:33Speaker 1: showed himself unto him and said, because thou knowest these things,
- 12:37Speaker 1: ye are redeemed from the fall. Therefore ye are brought
- 12:39Speaker 1: back into my presence. Therefore I show myself unto you. Behold,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I am he who was prepared from the foundation of
- 12:46Speaker 1: the world to redeem my people. Behold, I am Jesus Christ.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I am the Father and the Son. In me, shall
- 12:52Speaker 1: all mankind have life, And that eternally, even they who
- 12:55Speaker 1: shall believe on my name, and they shall become my
- 12:58Speaker 1: sons and my daughters. And never have I showed myself
- 13:01Speaker 1: unto man whom I have created. For never has man
- 13:03Speaker 1: believed in me, as thou hast seest thou that ye
- 13:06Speaker 1: are created after Mine own image. Yea, even all men
- 13:09Speaker 1: were created in the beginning after mine own image. Behold,
- 13:12Speaker 1: this body, which ye now behold, is the body of
- 13:15Speaker 1: my Spirit. And man have I created after the body
- 13:18Speaker 1: of my Spirit. And even as I appear unto thee
- 13:21Speaker 1: to be in the spirit, while I appear unto my
- 13:22Speaker 1: people in the flesh. And now as I moron, I said,
- 13:27Speaker 1: I could not make a full account of these things
- 13:29Speaker 1: which are written. Therefore it sufficeth me to say that
- 13:31Speaker 1: Jesus showed himself unto this man in the spirit, even
- 13:34Speaker 1: after the manner, and in the likeness of the same body,
- 13:37Speaker 1: even as he showed himself unto the Nephites, and he
- 13:40Speaker 1: ministered unto him, even as he ministered unto the Nephites.
- 13:43Speaker 1: And all this that this man might know that he
- 13:45Speaker 1: was God, because of the many great works which the
- 13:48Speaker 1: Lord had shown unto him, and because of the knowledge
- 13:50Speaker 1: of this man, he could not be kept from beholding
- 13:52Speaker 1: within the veil. And he saw the finger of Jesus,
- 13:55Speaker 1: which when he saw he fell with fear, for he
- 13:58Speaker 1: knew that it was the finger of the Lord, and
- 14:00Speaker 1: he had faith no longer, for he knew nothing doubting. Wherefore,
- 14:03Speaker 1: having this perfect knowledge of God, he could not be
- 14:06Speaker 1: kept from within the veil. Therefore he saw Jesus, and
- 14:09Speaker 1: he did minister unto him. And it came to pass
- 14:11Speaker 1: that the Lord said unto the brother of Jared, Behold,
- 14:14Speaker 1: thou shalt not suffer these things which ye have seen
- 14:16Speaker 1: and heard to go forth unto the world, until the
- 14:18Speaker 1: time cometh that I shall glorify my name in the flesh.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Wherefore ye shall treasure up the things which ye have
- 14:23Speaker 1: seen and heard, and show it to no man. And behold,
- 14:26Speaker 1: when ye shall come unto me, ye shall write them
- 14:28Speaker 1: and shall seal them up that no one can interpret them,
- 14:31Speaker 1: for ye shall write them in a language that they
- 14:33Speaker 1: cannot be read. And behold, these two stones will I
- 14:36Speaker 1: give unto thee, and ye shall seal them up also
- 14:39Speaker 1: with the things which ye shall write. For behold, the
- 14:41Speaker 1: language which ye shall write, I have confounded wherefore I
- 14:44Speaker 1: will cause in my own due time that these stones
- 14:46Speaker 1: shall magnify to the eyes of men, these things which
- 14:49Speaker 1: ye shall write. And when the Lord had said these words,
- 14:52Speaker 1: he showed unto the brother of Jared all the inhabitants
- 14:54Speaker 1: of the earth which had been, and also all that
- 14:56Speaker 1: would be. And he withheld them not from his sight,
- 14:59Speaker 1: even unto the ends of the earth. For he had
- 15:01Speaker 1: said unto him in times before that if he would
- 15:03Speaker 1: believe in him that he could show unto him all things,
- 15:06Speaker 1: it should be shown unto him. Therefore the Lord could
- 15:08Speaker 1: not withhold anything from him, for he knew that the
- 15:11Speaker 1: Lord could show him all things. And the Lord said
- 15:13Speaker 1: unto him, write these things and seal them up, and
- 15:16Speaker 1: I will show them in mine own due time unto
- 15:18Speaker 1: the children of men. And it came to pass that
- 15:20Speaker 1: the Lord commanded him that he should seal up the
- 15:22Speaker 1: two stones which he had received, and show them not
- 15:25Speaker 1: until the Lord should show them unto the children of
- 15:27Speaker 1: men ether chapter four. And the Lord commanded the brother
- 15:32Speaker 1: of Jared to go down out of the mount from
- 15:34Speaker 1: the presence of the Lord and write the things which
- 15:36Speaker 1: he had seen. And they were forbidden to come unto
- 15:39Speaker 1: the children of men until after that he should be
- 15:41Speaker 1: lifted up upon the cross. And for this cause did
- 15:44Speaker 1: King Mosiah keep them that they should not come into
- 15:46Speaker 1: the world until after Christ should show himself unto the people.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And after Christ truly had shown himself unto his people,
- 15:52Speaker 1: he commanded that they should be made manifest. And now
- 15:55Speaker 1: after that they have all dwindled an unbelief, and there
- 15:58Speaker 1: is none save it be the Lamanites, and they have
- 16:00Speaker 1: rejected the Gospel of Christ. Therefore I am commanded that
- 16:03Speaker 1: I should hide them up again in the earth. Behold,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I have written upon these plates the very things which
- 16:08Speaker 1: the brother of Jared saw. And there never were greater
- 16:11Speaker 1: things made manifest than those which were made manifest unto
- 16:14Speaker 1: the brother of Jared. Wherefore the Lord hath commanded me
- 16:17Speaker 1: to write them, and I have written them, and he
- 16:19Speaker 1: commanded me that I should seal them up. And he
- 16:21Speaker 1: also hath commanded that I should seal up the interpretation
- 16:24Speaker 1: thereof Wherefore I have sealed up the interpreters according to
- 16:27Speaker 1: the commandment of the Lord. For the Lord said unto me,
- 16:30Speaker 1: they shall not go forth unto the gentiles until the
- 16:32Speaker 1: day that they shall repent of their iniquity and become
- 16:34Speaker 1: clean before the Lord. And in that day that they
- 16:37Speaker 1: shall exercise faith in me, Saith the Lord, even as
- 16:40Speaker 1: the brother of Jared did, that they may become sanctified
- 16:42Speaker 1: in me. Then will I manifest unto them the things
- 16:45Speaker 1: which the brother of Jared saw, even to the unfolding
- 16:48Speaker 1: unto them all my revelations, Saith Jesus Christ, the Son
- 16:51Speaker 1: of God, the Father of the heavens and of the earth,
- 16:53Speaker 1: and all things that in them are. And he that
- 16:57Speaker 1: will contend against the word of the Lord, let him
- 16:59Speaker 1: be accursed. And he that shall deny these things, let
- 17:01Speaker 1: him be accursed. Friend to them, Will I show no
- 17:04Speaker 1: greater things, Saith Jesus Christ. For I am he who speaketh.
- 17:08Speaker 1: And at my command the heavens are opened and are shut.
- 17:11Speaker 1: And at my word the earth shall shake, and at
- 17:13Speaker 1: my command the inhabitants thereof shall pass away. Even so
- 17:16Speaker 1: is by fire. And he that believeth not my words,
- 17:19Speaker 1: believeth not my disciples. And if it so be that
- 17:21Speaker 1: I do not speak, judge ye, for ye shall know
- 17:24Speaker 1: that it is I that speaketh at the last Day.
- 17:27Speaker 1: But he that believeth these things which I have spoken
- 17:29Speaker 1: him will I visit with the manifestations of my spirit,
- 17:32Speaker 1: and he shall know and bear record. For because of
- 17:35Speaker 1: my spirit, he shall know that these things are true.
- 17:37Speaker 1: For it persuadeth men to do good. And whatsoever thing
- 17:40Speaker 1: persuadeth men to do good, is of me. For good
- 17:43Speaker 1: cometh of none, save it be of me. I am
- 17:46Speaker 1: the same that leadeth men to all good. He that
- 17:48Speaker 1: will not believe my words will not believe me that
- 17:51Speaker 1: I am. And he that will not believe me will
- 17:53Speaker 1: not believe the Father who sent me. For Behold, I
- 17:56Speaker 1: am the Father. I am the Light and the life
- 17:58Speaker 1: and the truth of the world. World. Come unto me, o,
- 18:01Speaker 1: you gentiles, and I will show unto you the greater things,
- 18:05Speaker 1: the knowledge which is hit up because of unbelief. Come
- 18:07Speaker 1: unto me, o, ye house of Israel, and it shall
- 18:10Speaker 1: be made manifest unto you, how great things the Father
- 18:13Speaker 1: hath laid up for you from the foundation of the world,
- 18:15Speaker 1: and it hath not come unto you because of unbelief. Behold,
- 18:19Speaker 1: when ye shall render that veil of unbelief which hath
- 18:21Speaker 1: cause you to remain in your awful state of wickedness
- 18:24Speaker 1: and hardness of heart and blindness of mind, then shall
- 18:27Speaker 1: the great and marvelous things which have been hit up
- 18:29Speaker 1: from the foundation of the world from you, YEA. When
- 18:32Speaker 1: ye shall call upon the Father in my name with
- 18:34Speaker 1: a broken heart and a contrite spirit, then shall ye
- 18:37Speaker 1: know that the Father hath remembered the covenant which ye
- 18:39Speaker 1: made unto your fathers, O house of Israel. And then
- 18:42Speaker 1: shall my revelations, which I have caused to be written
- 18:44Speaker 1: by my servant John, be unfolded in the eyes of
- 18:47Speaker 1: all the people. Remember, when ye see these things, ye
- 18:50Speaker 1: shall know that the time is at hand that they
- 18:52Speaker 1: shall be made manifest in the very deed. Therefore, when
- 18:55Speaker 1: ye shall receive this record, ye may know that the
- 18:57Speaker 1: work of the Father has commenced upon all the face
- 19:00Speaker 1: of the land. Therefore, repent all ye ends of the earth,
- 19:03Speaker 1: and come unto Me and believe in my Gospel, and
- 19:06Speaker 1: be baptized in my name. For he that believeth and
- 19:09Speaker 1: is baptized shall be saved. But he that believeth not
- 19:12Speaker 1: shall be damned, and signs shall follow them that believe
- 19:15Speaker 1: in my name. And blessed is he that is found
- 19:18Speaker 1: faithful unto my name with the last day, for he
- 19:20Speaker 1: shall be lifted up to dwell in the kingdom prepared
- 19:22Speaker 1: for him from the foundation of the world. And behold,
- 19:25Speaker 1: it is I that hath spoken it Amen. End of Ether,
- 19:32Speaker 1: Chapters one through four.
