- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 197! Can you believe it? Lucas: I know. And today we're going to stay in the park, but move away from the trees. Luna: Last time we described that tall tree. Now what? Lucas: Now we're going to talk about the path. The path under our feet. In Italian, that's 'il sentiero'. Luna: Il sentiero. The path. I like that. Lucas: Il sentiero. Let's repeat it together. Il sentiero. Luna: Il sentiero. Lucas: Good. Now, if the path is long, we say 'il sentiero è lungo'. Luna: Il sentiero è lungo. The path is long. Lucas: Exactly. And if it's narrow, 'il sentiero è stretto'. Luna: Il sentiero è stretto. Stretto means narrow, right? Lucas: Right. Stretto. Like 'stretto' for tight. So here, the path is narrow. Luna: Okay, so we have il sentiero è lungo and il sentiero è stretto. But what if it's both? Lucas: Then you say 'il sentiero è lungo e stretto'. But let's keep it simple for now. Let me use them in a sentence: camminiamo sul sentiero. Luna: Camminiamo sul sentiero. That means 'we walk on the path'? Lucas: Yes. Camminiamo is 'we walk', sul sentiero is 'on the path'. So 'camminiamo sul sentiero'. Luna: Camminiamo sul sentiero. I can picture us walking on that narrow path. Lucas: Now, where is this path? Perhaps 'il sentiero è nel bosco'. Luna: Il sentiero è nel bosco. The path is in the woods. Lucas: Bosco is woods or forest. So if the path is in the woods, we say that. Let's practice a little conversation. Imagine we're walking. I say: 'Camminiamo sul sentiero.' You reply: 'Il sentiero è stretto.' Then I say: 'Sì, ma è bello.' Luna: Okay, I try. 'Camminiamo sul sentiero.' Lucas: Il sentiero è stretto. Luna: Oh, I'm supposed to say that. 'Il sentiero è stretto.' Lucas: Exactly. And then I say: 'Sì, ma è bello.' Yes, but it's beautiful. So the path is narrow but beautiful. Luna: Ah, capisco. So we have il sentiero is the path, and it can be lungo, stretto, nel bosco. Lucas: Precisely. Now, let me give you another: 'Il sentiero è nel bosco e è lungo.' The path is in the woods and it's long. Luna: Il sentiero è nel bosco e è lungo. Lucas: Perfect. And we are on that path: camminiamo sul sentiero. Luna: Camminiamo sul sentiero. This is a nice walk.
