- 1:12Hey, what's up man? How you doing?
- 1:13I'm. Blessed my brother.
- 1:14I'm good, man, I'm good. Hey, did you see the game last
- 1:16night? I was your game.
- 1:17But did you see the shot? I lost money from that.
- 1:20Oh man, that shot was old man. But.
- 1:22It was good, yeah. What's the name?
- 1:31You really want to know. I do.
- 1:37Exhaustion, muscle spasm, Asthmatic issues, Unexpected
- 1:42sickle cell trait type. Are.
- 1:44You serious? When I was young I found out I
- 1:47had sickle cell trait. My mom's told me but I ain't
- 1:50have no knowledge of it. But when I got older I had a
- 1:52child and the doctor told me my daughter has sickle cell trait.
- 1:55You know, the fact that both parents have sickle cell trait,
- 1:58there's a 50% chance the child may have the trait and 25%
- 2:01chance the child may have the disease.
- 2:03And that's what's the count. Do you know that 2.5 million
- 2:06people in the United States have sickle cell trait?
- 2:08300 million people globally. I didn't find out I had sickle
- 2:11cell trait until I was in the Army 10 years.
- 2:13Next thing you know I had a sickle cell trait Exertion site
- 2:16April so. I thought that was a.
- 2:17Black gene or something? Nah man, the black community is
- 2:20number 21 out of 36,000 babies are being born with sickle cell
- 2:24disease. You could be Caucasian,
- 2:25Mediterranean, European. You got rid of a bloodline man.
- 2:31There is an inherited gene in our community that has been
- 2:34forgotten. The name is sickle cell trait.
- 2:37WDCONSCT, also known as What's the Count, is out to bring

- 3:08Some of us still carry the burden of battle.
- 3:11It threatens to drown us in our everyday lives.
- 3:15In battle, we had our weapons and combat gear to keep us safe,
- 3:18to keep us confident, but when we returned home, we were not
- 3:23armed with weapons and gear to cope with our own minds.
- 3:26I was lucky to find my combat gear, my mental weapon and it's
- 3:30called Kamago. Kamago is a drug free device
- 3:34that allows you to achieve calm in less than 3 minutes and
- 3:37moments of anxiety, stress, anger, panic or insomnia.
- 3:43Not with medication, but rather by activating the
- 3:46parasympathetic nervous system through a breathing regulation
- 3:48and multisensory stimulation. A recent study has shown that
- 3:52Comago decreases PTSD and anxiety levels in veterans,
- 3:56helping those who are suffering and having a long lasting
- 3:58effect. Visit comago.com to learn how
- 4:01you can get Comago through the VA or with a special Veterans
- 4:05discount code. All right, good afternoon.
- 4:10Can y'all hear me out there? Is everything good out there?
- 4:12I appreciate your opportunity listening in.
- 4:14This is French talk edition right here on MB radio dot USI
- 4:19want to thank you for tune listening today.
- 4:21We have a full, full show for you today.
- 4:25I'm blessed to have an opportunity to have some
- 4:28conversations that are important, especially to me
- 4:33dealing with the mental health, mental toughness aspect of life
- 4:38transition out of the military. However, we care about causes as
- 4:43well. So I'm an advocate for not just
- 4:46sickle cell trade as you saw in the PSA, or for veteran suicide,
- 4:49but there are other conversations in the world like
- 4:51lupus, chronic illnesses like sickle cell disease.
- 4:56So I have someone that's going to help me deliver some of those
- 5:00conversations today. Also, it is a veteran platform
- 5:03so we got some veterans here. So with the variety of shows on
- 5:06NBR, we got some. I got 2 guests that are actually
- 5:11have a show on NBR radio as well.
- 5:14So just having a great time today.
- 5:16Thanks for listening in. If you want more information
- 5:18again, go to WDCON sct.org for your sickle cell trade talk.
- 5:22If you want to find out what I'm up to in the community, you can
- 5:25go to farandi.com as well or on Instagram at Farandosi.
- 5:30If you want to be a guest on the on the show here.
- 5:34Just want to cover some things this week.
- 5:36This past week, I had an opportunity to speak at church
- 5:40at the ministry of reconciliation, my main church.
- 5:43And there's the the, the topic that we had this quarter was
- 5:51about revelations, right? And I've grown up in church and
- 5:54a lot of times the revelation talk was a scary, you know, it's
- 5:58like it almost scares you straight to be a Christian for
- 6:01what those times talk about. But during the lessons I was
- 6:06struggling because as they were talking about crisis coming back
- 6:12for his bride, right? And so I'm listening to that
- 6:16from a perspective of relationship, men and women,
- 6:21husband, wife, bride and and being divorced.
- 6:23It was like, I don't want to hear nothing about no marriage
- 6:25talk. I like I'm that that was just
- 6:28being blocked out, right? And so I brought it up, you
- 6:31know, to the church on the Bible study and they were like, you
- 6:33know, Farhan, it's a different, it's a different context.
- 6:35You got to catch that in the spirit.
- 6:37It's a whole parable and, and things like that, that, that it
- 6:40refers to. So I'm like, OK, cool, I'll,
- 6:43I'll, I'll go and, and, and meditate on that and, and take a
- 6:45look and see what I get for, you know, for myself.
- 6:49And so that, that last week I started to studying and praying
- 6:53and asking the Holy Spirit to like, OK, what is, what am I,
- 6:56what am I missing here? And let me tell you, I got it.
- 7:02What I got is one of the things I listened to was Tony Evans.
- 7:07My mom turned me on to him a while back and he had a
- 7:09conversation in James Three talking about the horses and the
- 7:16bits that are in their mouth and how they're controlled by the
- 7:19bridle is like self is control. And so I'm listening and, and
- 7:23all of a sudden, out of all the stuff I have been meditating on
- 7:26that week, I heard it finally for myself that the bride that
- 7:32Christ is coming back for is a particular kind of people,
- 7:38right? And I, and then so I looked at
- 7:40it like, OK, what it, what is that?
- 7:41What does that mean? And so when I looked it up for
- 7:43myself, I saw that he's coming back from what we've, what I've
- 7:46heard before in the, in the, in the, in conversations, people
- 7:50who are set apart, people who are pure in heart, people who
- 7:53are mature in faith and people who are disciplined in speech.
- 7:56And when I, I'm like, Oh, the bride is not the wedding bride.
- 8:01It's the particular kind of people.
- 8:04And so I got revelation for myself.
- 8:05I understood the passage more and I actually found a lot of
- 8:09peace in that conversation around revelation.
- 8:11And so if you want, you know, to find out more about that the
- 8:16scriptures that that I I learned that from is James 3.
- 8:20And the way that the bride and the bit and the self-control
- 8:24came into play is because the power of our tongue and how you
- 8:29talk, if you really pay attention, how you talk and the
- 8:32words that you use. Sometimes our own languages, our
- 8:36own trap, sometimes how we talk. They say the life and death is
- 8:39in the power of the tongue. And if you believe that that's
- 8:44true, just listen. Listen to how you talk to
- 8:45yourself. Listen to how we talk to one
- 8:47another. And so when I got that
- 8:49revelation for that passage, I got my understanding about
- 8:54revelations and, and, and so to be able to now, you know, apply
- 9:01that to my life and apply that what it looks like.
- 9:04I have already been being that person because I've learned to
- 9:07take responsibility from my language, what I talk, what I
- 9:09say. And in the spiritual context,
- 9:12that is really most important because it's how you treat how
- 9:16you talk to one another is, is very important.
- 9:19So that's, you know, from that aspect of my spiritual journey
- 9:23this week had AI really had a good time.
- 9:26So I delivered that message at church and, and, and from what I
- 9:30was told it did, it did land because I said, what are you
- 9:33filtering your, your, your life through?
- 9:36Are you filtering what you say to yourself and about life
- 9:40through the world or are you saying things through what the
- 9:44word has to say? And you have a choice, right?
- 9:46And, and those worlds are two different worlds.
- 9:48And sometimes we try to use the spiritual context in the world
- 9:52and it doesn't align because it has, it has a totally different
- 9:55meaning in the spirit. So again, thank you for for
- 9:59listening and tuning in. I'm going to bring up the guests
- 10:02because we're going to have a, a, a particular kind of
- 10:04conversation. So I'm going to start with my
- 10:06guy, Big Dre. Hey, what's happening, Big Dre?
- 10:09Hey, I'm doing it, man. Thank you again for you and Mr.
- 10:13Dolger. Man, no, man.
- 10:14Thank you for hanging out man. Always, man.
- 10:17That's why he's humble man. We had technical difficulties
- 10:19before the show, but King is always there.
- 10:21Man, he was having technical difficulties.
- 10:23Yeah, he was the dude. Next year.
- 10:25Yeah, exactly. You know what I mean.
- 10:26See. Look, look.
- 10:26He froze already. No, but man, thank you.
- 10:30Yeah, we had a great week with y'all.
- 10:32For those who don't understand you living in California, we got
- 10:37a spot June 21st that we're going to do a live broadcast
- 10:41from. It's called Hammer and Nails,
- 10:4312121 W Olympic St. in Los Angeles, a block from Bunny
- 10:48Drive. Yeah, it's, it's the man cave
- 10:51for me. And ladies and gentlemen, so you
- 10:53bring out to your family, it's going to be Family Day and
- 10:55members only day going to do on our show live, man.
- 10:58But first of all, I'll give my thanks to all our veterans, men
- 11:00and women that's fighting this country, the ones who gave their
- 11:03lives and everything else. And I I guess it's coming out
- 11:05today. Mr. you know, Gary, Gary had a
- 11:08phenomenal story and and it's going to be it's going to be a
- 11:11great show, man. I can't wait to watch Amanda and
- 11:14and my country boy from North Carolina.
- 11:15You know what I mean? Lord cast South Carolina.
- 11:19Yeah, you keep following you keep following South Carolina.
- 11:24You know what I mean? I can't wait to talk to each
- 11:26other. OK, great show ladies and
- 11:29gentlemen. Let's go, let's go.
- 11:31Let's bring up Amanda first. What's up, ladies?
- 11:35Hi. How you doing?
- 11:37I'm OK, it's hot today so just trying to stay cool.
- 11:41It is, it is. Thank you for accepting
- 11:43invitation to hang out with us today.
- 11:45Appreciate you. Yeah, of course.
- 11:48Yes, we're not strangers. She's She's.
- 11:50Me and her have been hanging out with some conversations for
- 11:52She's. A sports manager.
- 11:54She's a sports manager. We love sports managers.
- 11:57Yeah, and I'm a big supporter of veterans too, so thank you for
- 12:01your service. Appreciate you.
- 12:03Thank you. And.
- 12:05Your taxes. Your lovely dog, too.
- 12:10He's your master. But I'm gonna tell you.
- 12:18I'm gonna tell you something real fine.
- 12:20You know, I'm my my sisters both passed away from lupus and my
- 12:26oldest sister and my sister Darlene, she passed away about a
- 12:31year after my mom passed away a year later.
- 12:33She didn't waited for my mother to to transition and she said
- 12:35now that she was gone, it's her turn.
- 12:37So she we lost her back in 2015, you know, six months after my
- 12:41mom died in 2014 and my oldest sister shortly been dead since
- 12:4594. A lupus got hurt, you know, so
- 12:49it had the same thing, a sticker to a trait.
- 12:51Also, if I know it's in my family in history, but you know,
- 12:54I'm a big time advocate of it too.
- 12:56And I, I, I support any kind of things we got going on.
- 12:59So definitely, I can't wait to see what Amanda has to say when
- 13:03she's doing her stuff and everything her trash.
- 13:05Thank you and I'm so sorry to hear your loss.
- 13:07Thank you. Thank you.
- 13:08Appreciate it all. Right.
- 13:09Let's bring up Gary real quick. Gary, how you doing?
- 13:14Hey, man, I'm here. I'm.
- 13:15I'm getting better, man. You know, on the West Coast, you
- 13:18know, Creek making dreams come true, you know, Hey, I want to
- 13:25shout out to all the veterans. Hey, what I like about what I
- 13:28see in veterans is that you don't hear a lot of stories of
- 13:33veterans going berserk and doing crazy things, shooting up people
- 13:37with the PT with the PTSD that you don't hear all anything
- 13:43negative about veterans. And that's a good thing, you
- 13:48know, and, and I, and I think because we're strong in so many
- 13:52ways and from the trainings we had and we just got to keep up
- 13:56that good mindset. And also I'm going to do some
- 14:01more research, but sickle cell trades and all that.
- 14:04I was, I heard a little bit of something yesterday.
- 14:06It was real quick because I'm frequency, I'm all about tuning
- 14:09that frequency and what I'm understanding about sickle cell.
- 14:13And I got to go more into it before I can really speak on it.
- 14:16But you know, you guys know how to Google this stuff too.
- 14:19It's a, it's a frequency, a positive frequency that God has
- 14:24given us the people who have that.
- 14:27So it's something special that you have, but you got to know
- 14:29how to operate it from within. Exactly.
- 14:32Exactly. But that frequency is so fun.
- 14:35I appreciate you saying that because they touch on that as a
- 14:38navigate for sickle cell trait. Sickle cell disease has its own
- 14:41conversation. But again, I, I hear no
- 14:44different than veterans, right? That sometimes I said how we
- 14:47talk and sometimes I hear my community talk about their
- 14:50illness like it's outside of them, like it's like it's
- 14:55outside of them. But it's, it's a part of your
- 14:56DNA, right? And if you're, if you're born
- 15:00with that gene, then like you said, there is a purpose for
- 15:03that and you got to tap in to figure out what that purpose is.
- 15:07And turn it into a positive. Exactly.
- 15:09So I appreciate you. Saying that, I love that man
- 15:11right there Gary, because he we go way back.
- 15:15Hey, God been good to to us, you know, back with me, Andrea.
- 15:19My son was just a a baby. What, 344?
- 15:22Yeah, me and Fred. We and now you're grown man, 21
- 15:25years old. You're grown man now.
- 15:26Right, he got the scene today. I told him when he go meet you
- 15:29today to put to let him see his your his muscles muscles.
- 15:33And he? Said no, I ain't nothing to try
- 15:34to see my muscles. I saw a pre cut of them, you
- 15:38know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:39OK, so you got Amanda. We got an athlete waiting for
- 15:41him, man you, you know, we're inside of an athlete, so it's a
- 15:46beautiful sight. Let me bring up the two more,
- 15:48two more guests and then we're going to get this this
- 15:51conversation started. All right, gentlemen, how are
- 15:53you? What's up?
- 15:54What's going on with everybody? How y'all feeling?
- 15:58You know North Carolina in the house.
- 16:07That's right. I could easily send them into
- 16:10the waiting room. Y'all just let me know when.
- 16:12You have a dog. I'm mad to stick that dog out.
- 16:15You know, brother, that dog. Get them.
- 16:18Get them. No, this part of it, man, you
- 16:20know, everybody getting together, chopping it up, having
- 16:23fun, you know and all man. It's good man.
- 16:25We appreciate y'all bringing us in on y'all show, man, from the
- 16:27West Coast, you know, and you know.
- 16:30Thanks buddy. I heard yeah, and I heard, I
- 16:32heard y'all talking. I heard y'all talk about the
- 16:34sick of sale too. And one of my my oldest
- 16:38daughter, she has like the S the NC Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:42Aaron probably know more about that.
- 16:44Oh yeah, for sure. I think it's I think it's three
- 16:46kinds. I forgot no one is a s s.
- 16:48There's the SSSCSD, there's a actually there's a a bunch of
- 16:52different conversations in our community.
- 16:55We have about four or five that we expressed in our community,
- 16:58but there's thousands. Yeah, there's different types of
- 17:02SC is one of those for. Sure, yeah, yeah.
- 17:04So, yeah. So pretty good topic.
- 17:07Yeah. So like I say, you know, she's
- 17:08older now, she's about 26 and, you know, she's doing well, you
- 17:13know, but she has that form, I guess the SC, the form that, you
- 17:16know, like 'cause you know, I think it's a certain form that,
- 17:19you know, their people are kind of frail, but she don't, she
- 17:23doesn't have that. So you wouldn't, you couldn't
- 17:24tell that she has it, you know, so you know.
- 17:27Do you know do you know which who has the S and who has the C?
- 17:33I can't remember hey, 'cause you know, you know that that was all
- 17:36you know, I know y'all said something about the exes
- 17:38earlier. So there was an ex and you know.
- 17:43We'll leave that for the man talk, then we'll leave.
- 17:45There you go. There you go.
- 17:50He's safe. So I want, I want to start off
- 17:53with Amanda, to just kind of have a conversation.
- 17:58I want you to do me a favor, introduce yourself to the to the
- 18:01listeners, and then we'll just have a conversation with you.
- 18:05Excuse me, I'm really shy. My name is Amanda Ishi.
- 18:09I'm the CEO and founder of Kaizen Sports Management.
- 18:13I'm also a cancer survivor of colon cancer.
- 18:17I also was diagnosed with lupus, 2012 I believe.
- 18:24And yeah, I coach basketball. I love everything basketball.
- 18:29I'm trying to create a global market and network.
- 18:34And yeah, that's pretty much it. And my service dog, Tomas, she's
- 18:37with me too. I love.
- 18:42It, it is, it is, it is Lupus Awareness Month.
- 18:45And so I definitely want to touch on that.
- 18:48I can say we're not strangers, but what do you want people to
- 18:51know about lupus as? As conversation, I want people
- 18:57to know that it's like everyone when they find out lupus, they
- 19:04just automatically refer to Selena Gomez.
- 19:07And I want people to remember, you know, she's you know, she
- 19:12has a lot of rich rich. She has like a lot of wealth and
- 19:16fame. So she has a lot more resources
- 19:19than someone like me who, you know, it's not as easy.
- 19:24And also it's a big mental health hurdle as well.
- 19:29It affects mental health greatly because people look at you and
- 19:34they think you're OK. You don't look sick, you know,
- 19:38But you know, it's, it's very physically burdening on me.
- 19:42I get tired a lot. The pain is really bad too.
- 19:48And I get rashes sometimes. My heart gets attacked by the
- 19:52lupus, My lungs get attacked. Right now my kidneys are being
- 19:57affected by it. So yeah, it comes with a lot of
- 20:00burden. But when people first look at
- 20:03me, they don't really think there's anything wrong.
- 20:05But yeah, I have a lot of health conditions going on though.
- 20:09Yeah, thank you. We talked, you and I talked
- 20:13offline and I was, I was pleasantly surprised to hear
- 20:16that your basketball career may take a, a, a turn for the good.
- 20:22What's what's going on with that opportunity to continue your
- 20:24basketball, that chasing hoop dream conversation we have?
- 20:27Well, I don't want to get my hopes set or say too much, but
- 20:32because I'm still, you know, trying to get things going and
- 20:36I'm trying to get things established.
- 20:38But I recently did a media shoot with Rui Hatchimura from the
- 20:42Lakers, and so I've been in talks with his team.
- 20:47I work directly with Wasserman Group, so as infinite
- 20:51contractors. So a lot of times there's
- 20:54projects for media shoots where they need a location or facility
- 20:58for basketball. So because I know so many
- 21:01facilities in LA and California and I'm so well connected with
- 21:05the basketball committee and just different people in this
- 21:09industry, they always reach out to me.
- 21:13And I'm going to be teaming up with a facility in LA this
- 21:16summer and we're going to be hosting some international
- 21:19professional teams out here and do some scrimmages.
- 21:24I'm going to have Phil Handy come in and help out with me.
- 21:26So I'm really. Excited.
- 21:28And what about? I got trouble now.
- 21:31Thank you. What?
- 21:32About your personal basketball journey, Are you?
- 21:34Can you allow to talk? Can you say something about
- 21:36that? All that.
- 21:37Yeah. So I, I thought you were talking
- 21:41about the other one. So I did meet someone at a
- 21:45coaching conference for Nike and he is a coach for wheelchair
- 21:50basketball. And I shared with him my story
- 21:53and how I told him I had to retire from basketball because
- 21:56after the cancer and like the Crohn's disease and I had 12
- 22:00surgeries, I now have a permanent ileostomy bag.
- 22:04So because I have such a short amount of my intestine left,
- 22:09it's too dangerous to play basketball because, you know,
- 22:12wrong one wrong move and someone hits it, then that's it.
- 22:16I'm done. I don't have it anymore.
- 22:17And I'm going to have to live on tubes the rest of my life.
- 22:20So I love basketball so much. I was like thinking, like, what
- 22:25can I do so I can still play and be active and, you know, be
- 22:29around the game I love instead of on the sideline.
- 22:32And then I discovered wheelchair basketball.
- 22:34And so I tried it out for a day with him and it was so hard.
- 22:39It really humbled me. Like all those years of me
- 22:44playing like even overseas for short season, like I thought,
- 22:48you know, like, oh, I got this. But it's very hard and I have so
- 22:52much more respect for those players and I'm excited to start
- 22:55that journey. So yeah, let's see.
- 22:58What about what about what coaching you've done about head
- 23:00coaching you've done about coaching?
- 23:02I'm taking a break 'cause I was coaching a lot of like local
- 23:08leagues here in LA and I wasn't getting the respect I felt like
- 23:14I deserved from players. And it just wasn't like I, I
- 23:20hate to say this, but it just, it was ruining the game.
- 23:22I love it started to become more about money and the attitudes
- 23:27and just people like not working hard, you know, And it's just
- 23:31goes against everything I believe in and what I stand for.
- 23:34And so I just, you know, I said I'm not going to do this
- 23:38anymore. I'm going to stick to the pro.
- 23:40Level, yeah. Alright, and I appreciate you
- 23:43for saying that because that's that being my taste in hoop.
- 23:46Dream is still connected to basketball.
- 23:49Only the AB, we got three ABA teams now.
- 23:51And so I, I can definitely relate to you as far as how do
- 23:54we stay connected to that game of basketball.
- 23:57I really appreciate. You for saying?
- 24:00Anybody have any questions before I move?
- 24:02I just want to get somebody. Do anybody have any?
- 24:04Questions. No, we're good.
- 24:06OK. Yeah.
- 24:08OK. One of the other conversations
- 24:10that we're going to get into is around mental health.
- 24:13And you kind of said it earlier in your, in your topic, I posted
- 24:18a, a, a flyer that had complex post traumatic stress disorder
- 24:24and, and it had about 20 different things on there.
- 24:28And one of them is I feel like I'm a burden, right?
- 24:33And and so when I look at even myself after my transition out
- 24:38of the service and, you know, not taking on the label as a
- 24:41disabled veteran, but also have to be, you know, responsible for
- 24:45that because I do have some injuries.
- 24:48Sometimes you do feel like you're a burden on people.
- 24:50Sometimes I had to learn that if I ask for help and the person
- 24:55says no, like I have to allow them to say yes or no.
- 24:59I and I can't think that if I say ask for help, everybody's
- 25:02going to say yes. And a lot of times we make that
- 25:05no mean something about us, right?
- 25:08And if that happens when we're children, how do you think that
- 25:13plays out when we become adults? Wanted to ask for support and
- 25:16help. And so she responded, Amanda
- 25:19responded to that one about the burden.
- 25:22I'm like, hey, can you come on and share that?
- 25:24Because I really believe a lot of people may deal with this
- 25:28aspect of life that we don't talk about it.
- 25:32We don't know how to talk about it or or afraid to even say
- 25:34that, hey, this is how I feel. I like a burden.
- 25:37And then when I listen to my sickle cell community, same
- 25:39thing. It's like I hear people say, oh,
- 25:44I don't have any support. I don't have this, I don't have
- 25:46that. But then when you talk to them
- 25:47more, you hear, well, you don't even ask for help, but why don't
- 25:51you ask for help in this? Because I've been told no so
- 25:53many times in the past that that no is in the future.
- 25:57And now you feel like you're by yourself.
- 25:59And so I want to do, Amanda, to kind of share that experience
- 26:03for yourself around that burden conversation.
- 26:07Yeah. So for me, I come from an Asian
- 26:10background, so if you know anything about Asians, we're
- 26:13very prideful and we never talk about emotions.
- 26:17We don't ask for help. We just kind of figure it out.
- 26:21So there's that background that is contributing to me being that
- 26:25way. And also, I was diagnosed in
- 26:282016, so I was only 26 years old, but I was diagnosed with
- 26:33lupus before that, and I had Crohn's.
- 26:35But when I was diagnosed with cancers 2016 after surgery, but
- 26:40they did remove it during surgery.
- 26:42So my experience wasn't too bad with that.
- 26:46But when you're so young and you're diagnosed with an illness
- 26:49like that, especially having a bag, it's like, who can you
- 26:54relate to? Because in the doctor's office,
- 26:57there's no pamphlet or anything telling you what your life will
- 27:00be like. It's just when you open a
- 27:03pamphlet, it's just directions how to change it.
- 27:05And everyone in the pamphlet was like old people.
- 27:09There's like no one young. So I had no one to relate to.
- 27:12And I was in the hospital the majority of my 20s.
- 27:16So I missed out a lot of things. And a lot of my friends didn't
- 27:20understand what I was going through.
- 27:22And I didn't get a lot of visits.
- 27:25I didn't get people like, you know, trying to include me like
- 27:28Facetiming while they're out, you know, and that's something I
- 27:31would have done for them, but I just felt like a burden because
- 27:36it was like, I don't want to ask, you know, because then I
- 27:38feel ashamed. But then at the same time I was
- 27:40angry and resentful because it's like, why aren't they asking me?
- 27:44So it was like a catch 22, you know, and, and especially with
- 27:49family too, you know, like I had a rough childhood and I got shut
- 27:54down a lot if I asked for help. So like what Veron was saying,
- 27:58that affects me a lot too, in my adult, in my adult ears.
- 28:03It's very intimidating for me to ask for help 'cause I'm just so
- 28:06used to like having to figure it out on my own.
- 28:09And there's been times where I need to go to the hospital for
- 28:12emergency and I would just take an Uber instead of asking
- 28:15someone to drive me. Yeah, no, thank you again.
- 28:20Thank you for that. Because I just, I just want
- 28:22people to to hear the different aspects of life and how
- 28:26important it is because we're social beings and we want to be
- 28:30with people, we want family around us.
- 28:32But sometimes those experiences, those we think we're protecting
- 28:36ourselves at the same time we're also hurting ourselves.
- 28:38And then then what do we do after that or, or who do we
- 28:41become after that? You know, I just knew.
- 28:44But what we get to be in those situations.
- 28:46And so I appreciate you, you know, for for saying that since
- 28:49Mr. Health Awareness month. And so that is something that we
- 28:52wanted to touch on as well, especially from a woman's
- 28:55perspective of what that looks like.
- 28:57Yeah, that's, that's deep. Yeah, that's real.
- 28:59That's really deep. You know, a lot of people, like
- 29:02you said, a lot of people don't express it, you know, the way,
- 29:04like the way you're doing it to us or letting us know about it.
- 29:08Like I said, that's that's really deep though.
- 29:11Yeah, it is. Also let me ask you this after
- 29:15going through all of that, how does it affect you?
- 29:19Like now in your life now you do you still what's the effects of
- 29:25it? I'm not going to lie.
- 29:29Yeah, I'm not going to lie. It's very hard because people
- 29:34forget that if, if you're going to be in the hospital that many
- 29:38times and that long of a period, like bad things will happen, you
- 29:43know, the chances of that happening, like your interaction
- 29:46with nurses or doctors. So it wasn't like I was in the
- 29:50hospital just laying in bed, like just smooth sailing.
- 29:53Like I went through a lot of trauma in there and I was even
- 29:56assaulted once by a male nurse. And I after that, I just never
- 30:01felt safe with male nurses, you know, 'cause when you're that
- 30:04vulnerable, it's hard. And even now as an adult, I
- 30:09still struggle with relating to people because, you know, it's
- 30:12like, who can I find that can understand this, You know?
- 30:16And the truth is no one really can unless they're in my shoes.
- 30:21And that's something I have to set that the same time, it's
- 30:25like an everyday burden that I have to carry.
- 30:27And it's something I'm still navigating.
- 30:29I'm in therapy and I'm learning how to communicate better and
- 30:33open up to people. Gotcha.
- 30:37OK, Yeah, that's a tough pill to swallow, man.
- 30:40That's a lot. Especially when you're running
- 30:44your own business, you know, and like, you're a coach, you're
- 30:48managing all these players. It's a lot.
- 30:50And no one ever stops to like, you know, remind themselves
- 30:54like, oh, she's going through a lot because I get my phone goes
- 30:58crazy, you know, people contacting me demanding things
- 31:02and I'm like, I need to rest, Like, give me a break.
- 31:06So having boundaries helps. Putting up boundaries definitely
- 31:09helps. Yeah, like you said with the
- 31:12phone calls and everybody coming at you, that's yeah, they're
- 31:15stressed within itself, you know?
- 31:16Yeah, definitely. Yeah.
- 31:20Keep it positive like you are. That's what's going to keep you
- 31:23going. You know that's.
- 31:24Positive energy, I commend you for that.
- 31:29You're my you're my zero. I'm I'm unless you like me.
- 31:34I'm about to cry over here, man. I I can cry.
- 31:37I can. Cry you can cry.
- 31:39You good you. Good.
- 31:40You good. I know how to lose my friend a
- 31:41lot like I lose my sister. Lupus.
- 31:43And what you? Going through.
- 31:44I want to tell everybody, man, stress that when it comes to
- 31:46colon exams. I got my schedule in two weeks.
- 31:49My second one, I don't play with that man.
- 31:50My son just had a colon gas scare and he's only 38 years old
- 31:54and they found someone and removed it and he's happy.
- 31:57Now I'm going myself with my second one.
- 31:59You just don't know. You walk around and smile and
- 32:01think you're in the healthiest person.
- 32:02Before you know it, boom and you're interested.
- 32:04In care too. It's called comments though.
- 32:07You know you have a dream but don't let them fool you to like
- 32:10he said earlier about putting things out of the atmosphere
- 32:13with what you say. Your mouth is dangerous.
- 32:15God tells you every time this is a weapon.
- 32:17You got to be careful. So God got a mission for you,
- 32:19girl, I don't think he don't. I can see in your eye.
- 32:21He got a mission for you. Oh.
- 32:24She's legit. She's legit.
- 32:25She's got this right now, but she's legit on there.
- 32:30Legit, right? Right.
- 32:31I I leave that number contact. We own, we own the arena out in
- 32:36Ohio. We own basketball arena.
- 32:37I own 20% Echo. It's called Flight the Fight
- 32:40Academy in Dayton, OH. So I was like, I think I've
- 32:42heard of it. Yeah.
- 32:44It's owned by Chris Wright. He played NBA ball.
- 32:46And we own, we own, we own 20% of that.
- 32:48So our team do so the fantastic. So we we already look for
- 32:51something new out there. We definitely got to talk
- 32:53because I have clients all over and I'm trying to expand my
- 32:56network to the East Coast. That's doing.
- 33:00East Coast basketball and Midwest basketball so different
- 33:02from West. Coast.
- 33:05I actually, I like it better. Yeah, I like it.
- 33:08Better. When I was in New York for the
- 33:10NBA draft a couple years ago, I played some pickup ball out in
- 33:14Harlem and I was like, I love this game Over here.
- 33:18Everyone plays hard and aggressive over here.
- 33:21They cry about everything. I break the nail, break the
- 33:25slide. I broke up, yeah.
- 33:31Yeah, I. Know.
- 33:33Yeah, that's what, yeah, that's what I don't like about the
- 33:36game, man. Yeah.
- 33:38That's what I. Don't like about the game?
- 33:39What are you? Doing stop looking at the Revs,
- 33:41just hurry. Up and get a.
- 33:43New defense. What do you call him?
- 33:45I would joke him inside, joke in the background.
- 33:46What do they call NBA ball now? 3 pointer.
- 33:48Oh. My gosh.
- 33:50All they do exactly. That's it.
- 33:52Only three. Points and dunking.
- 33:54That's it. No one plays.
- 33:55Defense. No one boxing.
- 33:57Out no boxing. Out.
- 33:58No fundamentals. So here's a big question for
- 34:01you, Amanda. You're the female GOAT.
- 34:03Basketball history. Who to go, Who to go all time?
- 34:07Go basketball and you better not say LeBron James.
- 34:12Never you. Better not never.
- 34:15Never. Thank you.
- 34:17Who is who? Who is the go?
- 34:18I I'm tougher than LeBron for thank you.
- 34:21OK? For me, my personally, my go is
- 34:25Kobe, but MJ is the go and then Kobe's Black Mamba.
- 34:30But the way I played basketball and the way I I grew up studying
- 34:35basketball was Kobe mostly. So I would say thank you, That's
- 34:41that. Generation.
- 34:44That's why that's that generation.
- 34:47Hey, you know, hey, you know, we got.
- 34:50Hey, you know we got to stay in North Carolina, right?
- 34:56But you know what, though, I, I did have the luxury of growing
- 34:59up. I saw like, first I saw Doctor
- 35:02J, right? And I was like, it won't be
- 35:05nobody else. And then came Jordan and then
- 35:08I'm like, you know, then I said, well, there ain't going to be
- 35:10nobody. And then here comes Kobe.
- 35:12So, you know, I kind of go with that, you know, that arena like
- 35:15that. Thank you.
- 35:18That's not not I'm going to be tired, but my son got to play
- 35:21one season with me. Come on now, saying Ken Griffey
- 35:23and Chris Gibby senior. I got to play my no picking 1280
- 35:28fifth in the draft ball. I mean, I mean, come on, man.
- 35:33I know he's been disrespected Brownie, but he got him a.
- 35:35Job he got him a. Yeah, he got him a job, baby
- 35:38brother. Better than the older brother,
- 35:39so ain't no big deal, right? Yeah, that's what I.
- 35:42Think that's. What I think you know, I, I
- 35:45asked Jordan one time. We were smoking a cigar with
- 35:47Jordan and he was in Miami. I said man, how do you say a man
- 35:50he'd a goat When Kareem had four years of college at all time.
- 35:56He had no years of college all time.
- 35:58He should have had 50,000, but he shot the ball 100 times the
- 36:01game. He's supposed to have that.
- 36:03And you know, we know for a fact Kobe, the all time leading
- 36:05scorer now, Kobe's still alive. He would have still played.
- 36:07But he said every time he let it go, he wasn't selfish. 20 years,
- 36:10I'm out. But for me, for me and Lebron's
- 36:14defense, always not, not for real.
- 36:18I always said this right here. Kobe is the closest thing to
- 36:21Jordan. But LeBron?
- 36:23He's the more athletic Magic Johnson.
- 36:27Yeah, OK. But I think, but I think the
- 36:29reason why, I think the reason why a lot of people compare him
- 36:32and they put him and Jordan together against each other
- 36:34because you know, everybody growing up, you know, they
- 36:37wanted to wear that 23 and that's what LeBron, he wanted 23
- 36:41coming in high school and coming out right.
- 36:43But really, LeBron is is Magic Johnson.
- 36:45Yeah. Thank you.
- 36:46He'll pass it and he he decent on free throws, he'll pass it.
- 36:51He's a, he's a better shoot jump shooter than Magic was, you
- 36:55know, so I would have been in the arena with Magic.
- 36:57OK, Yeah. OK, yeah, that's a that's a
- 37:00fair. That's a big joke.
- 37:02But a lot of people, but a lot of people, they don't, a lot of
- 37:05people don't don't, They don't for some reason they don't do
- 37:07that. They always hit him against
- 37:10Jordan, right, Mike? But I would say Jordan, I would
- 37:12say Jordan, Kobe. And then I would take LeBron.
- 37:15I would say he's his game is more catered toward Magic, you
- 37:19know? What I mean because they.
- 37:21Don't really compare magic to anybody compared to magic.
- 37:26Nobody. That's a good point.
- 37:30Yeah. I pick OKC and then next to the
- 37:34finals I'll pick it. For some reason, I don't know
- 37:36why I have. I had to get a chance man, give
- 37:42a chance. 7273 How? Many years.
- 37:46They've been rebuilding long enough.
- 37:47They should be. Rebuilding for years.
- 37:57That's why I picked man in the finals.
- 38:03But I think I think going to win it all.
- 38:06I think, I don't think. I think Indiana.
- 38:09I think Indiana too. Lakers don't have a chance until
- 38:40they can find a coach that won't kiss Lebron's butt.
- 38:44Then they will. They will finally get where they
- 38:47need to be. But until they can achieve that,
- 38:49it's. I mean, look what's happened,
- 38:51you know? It's not true.
- 38:52What about an owner who won't speak with nobody?
- 38:54An owner who won't speak with all the guys.
- 38:56You know. I didn't say that on.
- 39:03That note, we're going to take a station identification break.
- 39:05This is the Ron Jose show Tricks Talk edition.
- 39:09Life choice, of course. Amanda, thank you so much for
- 39:12hanging out with us. You're more than welcome to stay
- 39:14and hang out as much as you can take.
- 39:15Yeah. I like it.
- 39:18We'll be right back. Some of us still carry the
- 39:21burden of battle. It threatens to drown us in our
- 39:25everyday lives. In battle, we had our weapons
- 39:28and combat gear to keep us safe, to keep us confident.
- 39:32But when we returned home, we were not armed with weapons and
- 39:36gear to cope with our own minds. I was lucky to find my combat
- 39:40gear, my mental weapon and it's called Kamago.
- 39:44Kamago is a drug free device that allows you to achieve calm
- 39:47in less than 3 minutes in moments of anxiety, stress,

- 42:57Don't sleep. Don't sleep with them.
- 42:59Exactly. Don't do it.
- 43:01Hey, Gary, I see you back there Gary, but your phone is if you
- 43:05can correct your phone before I bring you up, Gary, I just see
- 43:07your phone is sideways, but. Yeah, Amanda, I sent you my
- 43:10stuff in the comments for the audience I sent you everyday
- 43:14only. OK.
- 43:16You got. It I look forward to it.
- 43:18Definitely, definitely. So my my counterparts here on MB
- 43:24radio men talk gentlemen, please introduce yourself your.
- 43:29Brothers. Hey, I'm Shaw.
- 43:31And I'm Daryl. Yeah.
- 43:34Let's yeah great on bro. Give us some background of of of
- 43:37your show that's on the platform.
- 43:40Well, man, talk is kind of, it basically came from, we started
- 43:45with like Zoom. We wanted to have like a safe
- 43:47space for men to come in and just talk and they didn't accept
- 43:52it. So we went to the people.
- 43:54So we went to the men and we started on YouTube and Zoom and
- 43:59all of that. And now we on the radio show.
- 44:01So it's basically we just, we do a lot of different topics, you
- 44:05know? Like we.
- 44:07Fell in prison systems. And good ones pseudo good ones,
- 44:12pseudo child and. Force yeah they say Baba Baba
- 44:15shop talk you know for the. Yeah, basically, yeah, yeah.
- 44:19So kind of it kind of keeps some stuff going that's.
- 44:22All Yeah, yeah, You know, like I said, my name is Daryl.
- 44:25I'm glad y'all, you know, appreciate y'all, you know,
- 44:27inviting us on the platform. And like what my brother was
- 44:31saying, you know, we first started off, like I said, on
- 44:34Zoom in a safe space. We weren't going to record or
- 44:37anything. You know, who's just going to
- 44:38get a bunch of guys. You know, he didn't have a lot
- 44:40of guys in his area that want to join, right.
- 44:43And then I guess you know, guys, you know how they do, they fall
- 44:46away or whatever, you know, won't, won't tap any in or
- 44:48whatever. So my brother said, you know,
- 44:50hey, bro, hey man, the people won't come to us.
- 44:53Let's you know, let's he said God said, let's go to let's go
- 44:56to the people. So that's when we start zooming
- 44:59and recording. And then, yeah, we went from
- 45:02there, you know, and start doing on YouTube.
- 45:04So yeah, you know, took off from there.
- 45:07I. Appreciate that.
- 45:08I appreciate that because there's some conversations that
- 45:11you want to have without the cameras.
- 45:14So people you would think, you would think that would be the
- 45:17environment so they could have a the safe space to have a
- 45:20conversation. But some people, even in that,
- 45:22they still don't want to have those talks.
- 45:25You don't want it and that's the issue with some men.
- 45:27They don't want to open up and that that causes issues, you
- 45:32know, in their relationships. You know, even with the kids,
- 45:35you can't open up to your kids. So I mean, now the IT goes
- 45:39through this cycle now the kids don't open up.
- 45:42To their kids and now you got a bunch of angry people.
- 45:46That's the kind of way I look at it, you know, right.
- 45:48And the funny and the funny and The funny thing about that too,
- 45:51man, is like a lot of times we have, you know, whether may who
- 45:54guys my brother may work with us and guys I may know, a lot of
- 45:57times they they, they the ones want to come to the platform,
- 46:01but then when we form the platform, they don't show up.
- 46:04They kicking out or don't show up.
- 46:06So. You know what I got?
- 46:07I got you. I got you.
- 46:09Yeah. So.
- 46:09Basically just me and him. We just said we'll just go, you
- 46:12know, we just tag team and go, go for it, you know?
- 46:16Yeah. So this this is a military
- 46:19platform. What?
- 46:20Who's the service member or the? The oh, I'm an Air Force.
- 46:24Air Force, I'm a ring. Yeah, I'm a ring.
- 46:27Yeah. There you go.
- 46:32He the intelligent one, Air Force, intelligent people.
- 46:35Yeah. Yeah, say a part again.
- 46:38They didn't hurt you and he, he said.
- 46:39Nothing he ain't. Saying I said nothing.
- 46:45Man, and I always, I always shout out, shout my brother out.
- 46:48You know, he's the young, I'm the oldest, you know, of the
- 46:50family, brothers or whatever. But I shout him out because, you
- 46:54know, he asked me, you know, to come on board with him, right?
- 46:58And so I said, man, yeah, I'll do it with you, man.
- 47:00I'll come on and talk with, chop it up with you, you know, and
- 47:03and you know, he's the kind of like the, you know, the brains
- 47:06of it. He's he's more the tech savvy,
- 47:09you know, and I'm kind of the, you know, the, you know, I'll
- 47:11talk, but I'm just like, when it come to tech savvy, he kind of
- 47:14dabble in all of that, you know what I'm saying?
- 47:16So. So.
- 47:18I always call him the brains of the operation, but he always
- 47:21say, you know, was ours, you know, was ours together.
- 47:23But you know, but he pretty much, you know, it's the brains
- 47:27that you know that all of it. So I just joined in, tapped in
- 47:30with a man. And for me, man, you know, it's,
- 47:33it's therapeutic for me, you know, when I get to chop it up
- 47:35every week, you know, you know. No doubt that that's kind of why
- 47:38I got here, living in the future of those podcasts.
- 47:43Well, back then it was Internet radio, and in 2009 it wasn't
- 47:46podcast from 10 to the radio. Living until those next week
- 47:49episodes kept me alive, man. It was like, OK, you know, you
- 47:52interrupt that willingness to die.
- 47:55You know, there's a space that can be filled with.
- 47:56And when, you know, you got to find out what's next as us as
- 47:59veterans turned into a passion and, you know, to to be here.
- 48:05What had you joined the Marines? Well, I guess when I was coming
- 48:09out of high school, it was a lot of lot of guys around our way,
- 48:13you know, they was Army or either Navy and I wanted to do
- 48:16it. I was always, I wanted to do
- 48:17something different. Even back then I was a little
- 48:20smaller, but I wanted to do something different.
- 48:23So I saw the blue stripes. You know how the recruiters do,
- 48:27You know, they come out, see the blue stripes with the white hair
- 48:29on dress Blues or whatever. So they got.
- 48:32Yeah, they got. Me man.
- 48:33You a man? Yeah.
- 48:37Boy, they got me man. So that's why I joined man.
- 48:40So then, you know, I went to Pi Paris Island for basic.
- 48:44Then I, you know, then I went to School of Infantry at Camp
- 48:47Lejeune, Camp Geiger and and then after I left Giga, I went
- 48:52to, you know, Fast Company in Norfolk, VA.
- 48:54We're dealing with sea duty and all that stuff like that.
- 48:57Before I did 2 years of there at the Norfolk Naval Base.
- 49:00Then I came back to Camp Lejeune and finished up my last two
- 49:03years up up there. So I ain't do but four years,
- 49:06you know, they tried to get me the sign.
- 49:08I was like, no. Four and out.
- 49:11Four and out. Got out, got out the end of 91.
- 49:14Yeah, that's good. That's good, yeah.
- 49:17And. And and for you, Sir, the Air
- 49:19Force, you saw that, you saw this Marine experience was like,
- 49:22Nah, I'm good with that one. Well, let me say, let me tell.
- 49:24You this story. Like, Nah, we ain't going that
- 49:28way. I tried to tell the people that
- 49:32so men is OK to fail, right? I tried the Marine Corps.
- 49:36I couldn't swim. Oh.
- 49:39So then I went to the Air Force and that was, you know, where I
- 49:42found my spot. Yeah.
- 49:45That was my spot. So, you know.
- 49:47Yeah. Information Manager.
- 49:50We swim like each other. I swim like a Chevy truck, like
- 49:52a rock. Hey, hey, I told him.
- 50:06I told him, Brother, let it bother you, man.
- 50:07Come. Look, I want no bona fide swim
- 50:10either. I did like the least.
- 50:11The least qualification was like 5 minutes swimming on your back
- 50:15and that's all I did. Yeah, I rolled out on the.
- 50:18Pool what day I hate about the. Pool I would have had a heart
- 50:21attack. Yeah, boy.
- 50:24So I found my way in the Air Force and I went out to
- 50:27naturally Lackland, then up the teaser and then back down the
- 50:30pool. Yeah.
- 50:32Yeah. So that was my story, man.
- 50:34I'm AI was office Guy, which I enjoyed because when it's
- 50:38raining and cold and they're out there exercising, you know,
- 50:41always looking at them, I enjoyed that part of.
- 50:46Always telling, always telling. See, I was the crash dummy.
- 50:50I went out. They learned from me.
- 50:54Right that. Was a good thing.
- 50:57That was a good thing. You got it all out the way
- 50:59early. Yeah, because see what it was
- 51:01with me, my recruiter got me, You know what I mean?
- 51:03So and see, because I know back in the days when I was in
- 51:07school, high school students could drive a school bus.
- 51:09I don't know how they did it in Cali, but over here high school
- 51:13students could actually drive school buses.
- 51:14So when I got ready to go with my recruiter was like, yeah,
- 51:18man, I got you, come on in or whatever.
- 51:20So I said, listen, I said I wanted to go in, mow the tea
- 51:23because I was driving scuba or either supply.
- 51:27He was like, oh, man, you know, don't worry about it.
- 51:29You ain't, you ain't you're not decided yet, right?
- 51:32He said when he said when you get the basic training, he said
- 51:34they're going to get you. You'll be the major mind up.
- 51:40And he got me with the he got me with the open contract man.
- 51:44Oh. No.
- 51:47Make your. Mind up later, huh?
- 51:50Yeah, he tell me. Yeah, man, you can.
- 51:52You can. You can decide later wrong.
- 51:53You know, after basic training, they'll give you another chance.
- 51:56I was like, he got me because, you know, we had, you know, like
- 52:00me and Shaw, we always talk about it.
- 52:02You know, my dad, we, he wasn't in the home, but he was in our
- 52:05life. Yeah.
- 52:06So, so when by me being the oldest, I had to kind of grow up
- 52:09kind of quick, kind of fast or whatever.
- 52:12So when I got with the recruiter, you know, I didn't
- 52:15have nobody to guide me left or right.
- 52:17So I'm, I'm put my trust in this guy.
- 52:20Like, yeah, man, I'm in basic training.
- 52:22I'm like tell my buddies like yeah man, right out the base of
- 52:26training man, I get to go to supply either motor tea.
- 52:28I'm going to be watching y'all humping and next thing you know
- 52:32they, you know, watching me and. That's.
- 52:39What? And that's what Shaw, he learned
- 52:41there from me. Because I said, man, I said
- 52:43don't make sure you sign whatever you want to go in on.
- 52:46Don't let the recruiter get you. I learned from crash crash.
- 52:52I got a quarterly, about 15 men. Got it, Got it.
- 52:55Yeah, got it. So.
- 52:57Before before Amanda came on the the to speak today.
- 53:01Have have you gentlemen heard about lupus?
- 53:03You got any any. Yeah, we heard of.
- 53:04I heard of it. Yeah.
- 53:08I don't know anybody with it, but I heard of it.
- 53:11Is there a cause? Is it, is it and I was going to
- 53:14ask her or ask you, is it like is I'm pretty sure from what she
- 53:16was describing, is it kind of is that painful?
- 53:18You go through like moments like wake up daily or something like
- 53:23that or, you know, with pain or something or you know.
- 53:27Yeah, I haven't been pain free for about 20 years.
- 53:35Wow, Like just constant pain for 20 years.
- 53:37So I don't know what it's like to be pain free.
- 53:41I I actually forgot and I'm just so used to the pain.
- 53:45My tolerance is super high. Yes, it is.
- 53:48By the way, real quick, not to change the subject, but I used
- 53:52to be stationed in 29 Palms. Oh, OK.
- 53:58OK, I didn't make it out there, but I heard about it.
- 54:00I heard the story. You don't want to go there,
- 54:01I'll. Be at the way tomorrow my.
- 54:05Ex husband's a marine. He was what was he?
- 54:11He was a tanker. OK.
- 54:13Yeah, and. Thanks to him.
- 54:16We got stationed there. It was like either Pendleton or
- 54:1929 Palms. And we got.
- 54:21You always heard, I always heard him calling it 29 stomps and I
- 54:25live. In yeah, it's out there out
- 54:26there I'm. Out there, I'm going to the
- 54:31morning look. Up Lake Bandini.
- 54:35OK. Look up Lake Bandini, they would
- 54:37make him run PT every morning. It's like 110° out right by a
- 54:42lake of basically shit from the barracks.
- 54:45Like just straight from the barracks.
- 54:47I was like why? Why it's?
- 54:51For your country, girls, for your country all the time your.
- 54:56Country man. But I do.
- 54:58Miss Tricare, Tricare, it was great healthcare for me.
- 55:01And they, the naval doctors there, they were the ones that
- 55:04actually found a good treatment plan for my lupus.
- 55:08So shout out to them because the civilian doctors, they didn't
- 55:10know what they're doing. So yeah.
- 55:14University. Oops.
- 55:18University oops. What it is right?
- 55:22Gary, before we, before we move forward, Gary, introduce
- 55:24yourself, man. I know you've been here hanging
- 55:26out, listening to all the conversations.
- 55:27Oh, I'm loving it, man. You know I'm a listener.
- 55:30You know I'm loving you. You young folks talk that good
- 55:33stuff and bring back memories. I like the positive.
- 55:36Gestures and. Attitudes.
- 55:38I mean, that's where it's it. That's where it's at.
- 55:40You know, I was born in Indiana, basically.
- 55:43And my mom, rest her soul. Bess Taylor, she's a design, you
- 55:48know, and she designed clothes. And we moved to Detroit because
- 55:51a friend of hers, Harvey Fuqua, if you ever heard of that name,
- 55:55he discovered Marvin Gaye. He had a group called Harvey and
- 55:58the Moon Glow, Moon Glows. He was married to Gwendolyn
- 56:02Gordy, so we shared the same birthday.
- 56:04Even though my mom and him were good friends, he had my mom
- 56:07making clothes for the spinners. The main ingredients, Tavares,
- 56:11Al Green, Marvin Gaye, you name it.
- 56:14My mom, you know, she did it. And so Harvey, since we shared
- 56:20the same birthday, I was 9 running around Detroit and a guy
- 56:24named Gregory Peterson, one of our neighbors, he was a hustler.
- 56:27So we was, he had me out there shoveling people's snow out the
- 56:30driveway, carrying people's groceries when it was safe
- 56:33because as you know, ain't nobody letting you carry the
- 56:36groceries in our in our world today.
- 56:40I mean, the police, even in the snow, when me and my mom pushing
- 56:43the grocery cart to the house, they had stopped and pick us up
- 56:46and give us a ride like home. That's how cool, you know?
- 56:49And, and, and it wasn't the best neighborhood either, but we
- 56:52survived it. So when Motown moved down here
- 56:55in 70, Harvey had my mom move us all out to LA, to Hollywood in
- 57:0072. So that was interesting to come
- 57:04to Hollywood because Harvey asked me, he was on the 9th
- 57:07floor at the RCA building on Sunset.
- 57:09He said, Gary, what you want for your birthday, you want a record
- 57:11deal or you want money? And I'm like, I'm like, you
- 57:20know, he could have made me a star.
- 57:21Because a lot of people see you hear that stuff called industry
- 57:25plant. I don't believe in that because
- 57:28if somebody in the industry believes in you and they see
- 57:32that, they see a dollar sign in you, they know how to place you
- 57:35in the industry where you can make money, they can make money
- 57:38and everybody can be happy. So that industry plant stuff, I
- 57:42don't go for it. And, but I was fortunate enough
- 57:45to be out here and after high school, I, I mean, actually, I
- 57:50left high school, high school, 2 credits short and joined the
- 57:53Army. I went into the engineers.
- 57:56I went to Fort Leonard Wood for training in the.
- 57:59Woods. The Woods lost.
- 58:01In Living in the Woods. Right.
- 58:04So that experience alone in basic training, you know, 11
- 58:08particular task, I was scared to get up on that, that pole you
- 58:12climb and go across. The rope.
- 58:14Oh yeah, yeah. So we went to the rifle range
- 58:17and I was a guy on I'm carrying a flag and all these soldiers
- 58:19behind me, but I didn't know it. I had pneumonia.
- 58:23And oh wow. So it's a truck that follows us,
- 58:26as you all know in basic training, if you get on that
- 58:28truck running at 10 miles to the range, you going to have to do
- 58:32some major push ups when you get to the to the facility.
- 58:35So I got to the facility. I, I ended up not getting on the
- 58:38truck, but I was the last person to go in the gate.
- 58:41I qualified marksman at 49 shots out of the 50 and woke up in the
- 58:47hospital and with pneumonia. Now I got lost time there
- 58:51because my sister and I, we were looking for my records on the
- 58:56hospital that I was in, on Fort Meadowood property.
- 59:01And it's been 4 years and they haven't sent me any of those
- 59:03records. But to move on, I ended up going
- 59:07to Germany, Darmstadt, West Germany, near Frankfurt.
- 59:10I ended up, you know, combat engineer.
- 59:12I ended up working the captain like me.
- 59:15So he wanted me to drive and I didn't know how to drive.
- 59:20So a brother that was a Sergeant in the office, he looked at me
- 59:23and said OK. He took me out in a Jeep and I
- 59:26tore up the gears. But he taught me how to drive.
- 59:30I ended up driving for the major and, and his name was Major
- 59:34Ellis, but he likes to consider himself Little Caesar.
- 59:37So everywhere he went, I was right there.
- 59:40Terrain walks unit all over, all over Europe with the top brass
- 59:44and, and to, to jump a little bit further, you know, I used to
- 59:47go out to the, the clubs there and I used to go by myself
- 59:51walking through those parks to get, you know, Germany is kind
- 59:54of weird if you've been there. And so, yeah, I, I had a good
- 59:59experience in doing that. Then the polar side one time
- 1:00:01walking back through the neighborhood because Darmstadt
- 1:00:04is considered like a Beverly Hills.
- 1:00:06So I'm a black man, I'm dressed real nice and I'm walking back
- 1:00:08to the, to the place to the barracks and the, the polar side
- 1:00:12pull up on me as soon as I get in the gate.
- 1:00:16And then the, the gatekeeper, he called the captain.
- 1:00:20A few guys came out with their rifles and the polar side
- 1:00:22saying, well, this guy's tearing up.
- 1:00:24Post signs, somebody reported him tearing up signs.
- 1:00:27And I, I don't do such anything like that.
- 1:00:30But my, my, my unit had my back because the captain came out and
- 1:00:33they had they rifles ready against the Polizzo.
- 1:00:35And I used to have a lot of respect for the Polizzo because
- 1:00:39they do a lot of training more than regular police, you know,
- 1:00:41five years of training to be a Polizzo.
- 1:00:45But after that, you know, I went on to Fort Lewis, WA and I was a
- 1:00:51member, member of the Martin Luther King Singers.
- 1:00:53I sung baritone. I joined the choir in church
- 1:00:55because I was in church. And.
- 1:00:58And I had, and I had a gentleman, I'm not going to say
- 1:01:00his race or anything, but he, he, he was my platoon leader and
- 1:01:05he used to give me slack all the time.
- 1:01:07And this is a little bit about karma now.
- 1:01:09And I used to tell the captain and you know, you can't jump and
- 1:01:12you got to go through the chain of command.
- 1:01:14But I went to the captain and said, hey, man, you know, he's,
- 1:01:17he's drinking on duty and dah, dah, dah, dah.
- 1:01:20And for a punishment, actually they gave me his job because he
- 1:01:25went home on vacation and he was drunk and he ran into a fence
- 1:01:32and it put the pole in his eye and put his eye out and he
- 1:01:36couldn't come back to the military.
- 1:01:38So they gave me his job. He was AE6 communication
- 1:01:41specialist. So the captain assigned me to
- 1:01:43take that over. So I ended up, I'm young.
- 1:01:45I signed for $400,000 worth of commo equipment.
- 1:01:50Now I'm missing Mikes, I'm missing wires, I'm missing
- 1:01:54everything. But since I was well, white,
- 1:01:57because I was one of those guys were cool with the maintenance,
- 1:02:00everybody, they, you know, they gave me a Jeep and they sent me
- 1:02:04out in the woods and Fort and, and Fort Lewis and, and I was
- 1:02:09collecting hundreds of miles of camel wire with that teeth,
- 1:02:13hundreds of miles. Now, the reason I'm telling that
- 1:02:15part of the story because, you know, I believe in crypto
- 1:02:17creatures, you know, and I'm listening to a story last year,
- 1:02:23that same Fort Lewis in the Washington State, Mount Saint
- 1:02:27Helen erupted. We were practicing for desert
- 1:02:29storm and, and Mount Saint Helen volcano dust.
- 1:02:32We was out there 30 days at a time.
- 1:02:35So a lot of my medical problems come from being in that dust,
- 1:02:38that volcano dust eat cancer. But people don't know that
- 1:02:44because as you know, chemicals are in that that volcano rash.
- 1:02:47And so a plane went down with like maybe 17 to 20 something
- 1:02:52people on it on Fort Lewis property in the woods.
- 1:02:57And that plane went down the wreckage.
- 1:03:00When time they got to the wreckage, the bodies were torn
- 1:03:03apart, ripped apart, not from the crash from Bigfoot type
- 1:03:09creatures. They're saying, and I know a lot
- 1:03:11of people say, oh, you say Bigfoot, but you got to if you
- 1:03:13understand God, you understand God didn't start and stop with
- 1:03:16us. So it's a lot of crypto
- 1:03:19creatures. It's a lot of things we don't
- 1:03:20know about. Matter of fact, it's too many
- 1:03:23things we don't know about that we're we're woke.
- 1:03:25Matter of fact, if you see the chemtrail planes flying over and
- 1:03:28you think that's chemicals that they're putting on us and poison
- 1:03:31at us, no, it's blocking the sun because our frequencies are now
- 1:03:35open to receive the gift to allow us to be whoever we want
- 1:03:40to be and communicate on another level.
- 1:03:42So they're man is trying to block that.
- 1:03:45That's that chemtrail. So if you're seeing the sun
- 1:03:47getting blocked and it's affecting our crops, that's why
- 1:03:50we got a lot of GMO and having all these cancers and stuff, you
- 1:03:54got to be careful with your food because that GMO, they don't
- 1:03:57allow that in Europe from America.
- 1:03:59Trigger it, it will trigger it. Exactly.
- 1:04:01You don't lie in Germany, they don't lie in Europe.
- 1:04:03They were Eastern Europe. They allow it all.
- 1:04:05Exactly. So to make a quick story, you
- 1:04:08know, I ended up for 30 years, I've had this ideal of a movie.
- 1:04:13Harvey did give me a a deal with a rap group, the Gumby Boys at
- 1:04:18Capitol Records. I was one of the first, you
- 1:04:22know, man, black man, to have a rap group on Capitol Records,
- 1:04:25the Gumby boys. We changed our name to
- 1:04:27Uncontrollable Urge. I found them in a skating rink
- 1:04:30out here in the Valley, and they were sliding around in bikini,
- 1:04:34in bikini underwear. And the girls was going crazy.
- 1:04:37And I'm like, these fools need to be, they need to be on TV.
- 1:04:41What year was that? Oh God, that was in the early
- 1:04:4580s. That's like a Venice Beach game.
- 1:04:50Right, right, right. But see, I didn't know nothing
- 1:04:52about. The record business.
- 1:04:55So I ended up coaching football at the Sherman Oaks Park in
- 1:04:59Encino Park. And Denzel's son, I coached him,
- 1:05:02I coached Ice Cube son. He was, he was out there and I
- 1:05:07had a script me and some partners had written.
- 1:05:10And Denzel was cool. He was like, oh, Gary, man, when
- 1:05:12you ready, just give it to me. So we were at Granada Hills when
- 1:05:16I know I'm skipping over a lot, but it's it's a fun story.
- 1:05:19But Denzel and I were walking out of Granada Hills high after
- 1:05:22a game and he said what you got what you got.
- 1:05:26And see what I'm saying by this, I'm letting you know he's a
- 1:05:28brother and and Harvey Fuqua, these guys from the Motown era
- 1:05:33and other eras back there, they were giving brothers a chance if
- 1:05:36they had talent, you can present it.
- 1:05:39So Denzel said what you got. So as I'm handing him the
- 1:05:42package, 2 girls come screaming in the parking lot for Denzel.
- 1:05:46He looked at me and said, Gary, get it to my agent.
- 1:05:49That was like a hit in my stomach.
- 1:05:52And same thing with Damian Wayne's.
- 1:05:54I read when I work for the Prince.
- 1:05:55I drove see, I'm a driver at at best for the in the military.
- 1:05:58I drove the Jeep, as I told you, I drove for the current.
- 1:06:02I drove for the second in command of Europe when I was
- 1:06:03over there. So I have I have my driving.
- 1:06:06I Dre know me because I mean we've been together.
- 1:06:08He knows that we drove work for Playboy.
- 1:06:12So I drove for Hugh Hefner, the girls next door.
- 1:06:13I was on that TV show. So it's interesting.
- 1:06:19I'm with the Prince of Gabon. His his father was the king of
- 1:06:23Gabon. His grandfather is the president
- 1:06:27of of Congo, the Brazzaville side.
- 1:06:32So, so I'm with his security team.
- 1:06:35I'm on the I'm driving the Prince around.
- 1:06:38I drove him to high school for four years here out in Sherman
- 1:06:40Oaks. He went to Buckley, he went on
- 1:06:42to Harvard. But at that time, the cancer
- 1:06:45caught up with me for the kidney cancer I had, I was on dialysis
- 1:06:49for 9 years as driving for this young man, his grandmother, the,
- 1:06:54the queen, she was here in Bel Air with him.
- 1:06:57So he's the real Prince of Bel Air.
- 1:06:58In other words, the real Prince. So when he was at school, I'm
- 1:07:03running his grandmama at the Costco to buy stuff for her
- 1:07:07hotel that's in Congo. And, and me and I took her to
- 1:07:11church. We always was in church, I mean
- 1:07:13with with her and so we had a good experience there.
- 1:07:16But other people were concerned with Gary driving for Junior and
- 1:07:20he's got he's on dialysis. And I had to tell her, I said
- 1:07:23Mommy Claire is her name. I said Mommy Claire.
- 1:07:25I don't drive with my kidney, I drive with my brain.
- 1:07:29So. She I remember the story too.
- 1:07:31We lived. Together, you remember that?
- 1:07:33So I went on to have a successful trip there and then I
- 1:07:36said, OK, it's time for me to downsize.
- 1:07:38Instead of going to Harvard with Junior, I stayed here and I
- 1:07:42downsized and said, OK, now it's time to fight for my life
- 1:07:45because I could have kept making that money for another five
- 1:07:47years and then poof, I would have been gone.
- 1:07:50So and then I didn't want to leave my son alone.
- 1:07:52So Dre know the story. So boom, that's how I ended up
- 1:07:56working with Dre and James Tony. James, when Dre was bodyguard
- 1:08:00for James Tony, he pulled me in and he gave me a place to live
- 1:08:06so me and my son can kick it, you know, because I have my son
- 1:08:10more than his mom. And so it was me, Dre and my son
- 1:08:13and a a a cool cat named Cato. So yeah.
- 1:08:17So we we were doing good. And how it works with your mind
- 1:08:21and and it's it's an interesting part of this.
- 1:08:23What I'm going to say is I had a old beat up car.
- 1:08:26You remember that red car hat? Yeah, I know toy.
- 1:08:29I don't know what it was, but it was breaking down all the time.
- 1:08:31But when Dre said, Gary, I got this place over here, you can,
- 1:08:34you can come and have this place.
- 1:08:36And I said, OK, I looked at the place and I said, oh, there's a
- 1:08:40limousine company right around the corner.
- 1:08:43I can walk to work. I put that in my mind and boom,
- 1:08:47I moved in with Drake. My car broke down.
- 1:08:49I walked down the street. The Russians on this place, the
- 1:08:53Russian right, they hired me on the spot.
- 1:09:01That's that's how I got the job with the Prince because they had
- 1:09:03to crime. The contract family had the
- 1:09:08contract too with the Russians. So I.
- 1:09:21Was. Caught between the Gambino
- 1:09:25family and the Russian mafia. And I always want, every time I
- 1:09:29go to the office, to pick up the car from the house.
- 1:09:32I was always nervous about, man, this guy, the boss going to come
- 1:09:36in here, put a gun in this guy throat.
- 1:09:38Sure enough, one day I go in the office and Demetrius came in
- 1:09:43from New York, one of the top Russian mobs.
- 1:09:46Sure enough, he had the guy in the office with a gun in his
- 1:09:49mouth. He pulled me outside and said,
- 1:09:52hey, I understand you work for Playboy and you know, da da, da
- 1:09:54da, can you introduce me to some girls?
- 1:09:58And I'm like, you're the Russian mafia.
- 1:10:00You get, you know he's. Got women everywhere.
- 1:10:06But we can do another show. Out of here, I want to spend
- 1:10:17these last, you know, 20 minutes or so around the men talk and
- 1:10:22and and the men. I'm thankful.
- 1:10:23I'm glad you stayed around because I want your input from a
- 1:10:27woman's perspective. I know you, I don't want you to
- 1:10:29speak for all women, but maybe from your perspective of the men
- 1:10:33talk, right, Because for for me, what I'm learning as as I've
- 1:10:37done like 15 years of just my own healing process, right?
- 1:10:43Men, we are responsible. We are the ones biblically
- 1:10:46responsible for our families. We are the foundation.
- 1:10:49We're not the roof. We're the foundation of the
- 1:10:51family, right? And if you understand the
- 1:10:53foundation of the family, I tell men, have you ever gone home and
- 1:10:57said, thank you foundation for holding up the house?
- 1:11:00Like we don't we, we discount the foundation of that home, But
- 1:11:04what happens if that foundation is cracked?
- 1:11:06That whole house can be condemned, no matter how
- 1:11:09expensive it is, no matter how much is, you know, beautiful.
- 1:11:12It is for for the men talk that you gentlemen do and I've I've
- 1:11:15I've listened to some of your episodes and and Amanda for you
- 1:11:20for for you, Amanda for for a male from a from a woman to a
- 1:11:27male. What is what is the the most
- 1:11:30important thing for you looking for that person?
- 1:11:34Is it their character? Is it with the stuff like what
- 1:11:37what what is the we know that the eyes, of course, is the
- 1:11:40first thing we see the beauty. But past that, once you get past
- 1:11:44all that, what what are the things that from your view, a
- 1:11:48woman looks for? She's smiling and and and the
- 1:11:53male. Well, it's refreshing to be
- 1:11:56asked that because, you know, I, I am a 35 year old woman that's
- 1:12:02been single ever since my divorce, you know, and reading
- 1:12:07the Bible has helped me keep my standards high for what I look
- 1:12:11for in a man. And also the try and error.
- 1:12:14I've dated a lot of men in the past that I've looking back now
- 1:12:18I've, I've noticed they were broken men and they just were
- 1:12:23very emotionally immature. Like whenever we'd have a
- 1:12:27disagreement argument, I would always remind them like, look,
- 1:12:30it's you and I versus a problem, not me versus you.
- 1:12:34But they automatically would feel attacked.
- 1:12:36They would abandoned me, just walk out on me.
- 1:12:39I've been a stepmom and I got burnt out because I learned
- 1:12:43quickly from that experience. You never pour out an empty cup.
- 1:12:47So I learned from all of those experiences that like now I know
- 1:12:53at 35 years old that I need to. Like in the Bible it says the
- 1:12:58partner you should choose is someone you can go to war with.
- 1:13:02And I think nowadays it's very hard to date because masculinity
- 1:13:08is very rare now. And I've been hit on with guys
- 1:13:13with nail Polish and like, you know, they act very feminine.
- 1:13:17And I'm very traditional. I was raised to be feminine.
- 1:13:20I was raised to cook and clean and take care of the husband,
- 1:13:24take care of the kids, you know, and I've noticed that's been
- 1:13:28vanishing as well with women. So you have it's both sides.
- 1:13:31It's not just one side. And I think masculinity is
- 1:13:35lacking because we don't have a lot of strong male role models
- 1:13:39that are teaching young. And then this is how you treat a
- 1:13:42woman and this is how you get through issues and adversity.
- 1:13:45You know, and because that's why they're acting so emotional.
- 1:13:48Like, you know, the basketball players they coach, if they get
- 1:13:52a call that doesn't go their way or a confrontation in the game,
- 1:13:55they just freak out and fall apart.
- 1:13:57You know, they don't stay focused.
- 1:13:58And they don't have those tools to problem solve.
- 1:14:01They don't have any resilience. They don't know how to, you
- 1:14:05know, problem solve on their own and how to hold on to their
- 1:14:08integrity. And it's, it's really sad
- 1:14:11because that's lacking now. And, and as a woman, that's just
- 1:14:15the bare minimum, Just a man that can be masculine.
- 1:14:18He can keep his word, he can be stable and protect me and he can
- 1:14:23open the door for me, like just stuff like that.
- 1:14:25But it's sad because men don't even know how to talk to me as a
- 1:14:30woman, like the stuff they say to me.
- 1:14:32It's just like, like, who do you think I am?
- 1:14:35Like, why are you talking to me like that?
- 1:14:37And it's just sad. And but then I also look at
- 1:14:39young women and I'm just like, why are you dressing like that?
- 1:14:43You know, like, why are you so desperate for attention?
- 1:14:46And then they they're the same woman that go and complain
- 1:14:48there's no good men, but you're sitting there and you're
- 1:14:51bragging about how you use men for their money.
- 1:14:54So it's just sad. Both sides are ruining the
- 1:14:57dating pool. And, and I'm a firm believer on
- 1:15:01the tradition of a man and a woman being married and like,
- 1:15:04the man being the provider and the protector and the woman, you
- 1:15:07know, taking care of the home and bringing him peace.
- 1:15:10But all I see now is young women just, they are yelling.
- 1:15:15They're acting so like they're acting masculine, you know, So
- 1:15:19it's like, it's just kind of embarrassing, you know?
- 1:15:23And yeah, so I see both sides. Like the tables have turned, the
- 1:15:28women act thick, masculine in the women.
- 1:15:31I mean, the men act feminine. That's what I'm saying the.
- 1:15:35The new men purse 'cause they wearing the new men purse.
- 1:15:38Yeah. And you know, that's what that's
- 1:15:41what yeah, that's what me and my brother, we kind of touch on
- 1:15:43stuff like that a lot because, you know, we see it or some guys
- 1:15:47want us to talk about it. But in a lot of times too.
- 1:15:51And I know my brother, he going to tap, tap in on there too.
- 1:15:53Like what we see is, I know I do around my area, you know, a lot
- 1:15:58of times we try to talk to the people is that a lot of the
- 1:16:01women they're raising the boys just like what you was talking
- 1:16:06about. And I've seen some instances
- 1:16:08where guys have came in to try to actually help raise their
- 1:16:12boys, whether it be step dads or it can be the blood dad or
- 1:16:16whatever, however you want to use it.
- 1:16:18And the parent, the mom would step in in between the dead.
- 1:16:24They keep from disciplining him. And so they raised these boys
- 1:16:29like the way they raised them. This is what they're getting.
- 1:16:31You know this was out there now. Yeah, I, I personally look at it
- 1:16:35like this. I think the roles have reversed.
- 1:16:39Like you, it's normally God the man and the woman now is God the
- 1:16:43woman and the man. The roles are reversed and the
- 1:16:46women have taken the spot of the man and the man has fell back
- 1:16:50into the woman spot. Whenever you mess up that order,
- 1:16:54you're going to have what you have.
- 1:16:56And what you have now is a bunch of, you know, a lot of women
- 1:17:00that are what they say, independent and that's where
- 1:17:03it's coming from instead of them just being submissive to the
- 1:17:07man. I mean, you're not going to find
- 1:17:09a perfect man. That's not going to happen, nor
- 1:17:11you're going to find a perfect woman.
- 1:17:12So if you have a piece of a man that's doing decent, he's
- 1:17:17protecting like she said, he's protecting how to talk to you,
- 1:17:19he's providing treat him like he's the man, like he's the
- 1:17:23head. Don't belittle him just because
- 1:17:26you make $10,000 more than him. You know, so I, I just think the
- 1:17:31roles have been. Reversed and that's some of the
- 1:17:33cases too yeah, that's some of the cases.
- 1:17:35Like what you saying like sometimes you can have women
- 1:17:38just because they make more than their husband, they'll, you
- 1:17:41know, kind of push them to the side or whatever.
- 1:17:44And also like, like Charles just said too, you know, with the
- 1:17:50with the, the, the one with the woman that's stepping in front
- 1:17:52of the man, you know when God ain't going to bless that.
- 1:17:56You. Know he's not going to bless
- 1:17:57that, you know, like she's stepping in front of the man and
- 1:18:00you know, and doing what a man should be doing, you know, so
- 1:18:04and you know, it's just, it's just it's it's tough out there.
- 1:18:06So we still, we still work on it and we still try to tap in with
- 1:18:10guys and talk to guys about it. But it like you said, though
- 1:18:14amount is it is tough because like I said, you got the social
- 1:18:17media, you got one guy right now, he might be like, he might
- 1:18:21look at you and say, oh, you're nice looking, he talking to you.
- 1:18:24And then soon as you get off the line with you, he looking at
- 1:18:27somebody else. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:18:29So see, back in the day, we didn't have to do that.
- 1:18:31We had to go out. You know when you know when you
- 1:18:34know. In person.
- 1:18:36In person. In person, yeah.
- 1:18:38Meet the father. Meet the father and everything.
- 1:18:40Yeah, well. That's how I, that's how I used
- 1:18:43to date too. And I also noticed that society,
- 1:18:47like modern society, treats men very badly.
- 1:18:50Now the whole like feminist movement, like we don't need a
- 1:18:54man. It's like we do need men.
- 1:18:57Like look at the place I live in.
- 1:18:59This was built by men, you know, And like, having masculinity is
- 1:19:03necessary, necessary for this world to turn, you know, And
- 1:19:06there's nothing wrong with that. Men have a role and women have a
- 1:19:09role and it's needed both of them and.
- 1:19:13What means, what women have to understand, too, is that when
- 1:19:16you step into that role as the man, you got to take those
- 1:19:19shots. As the man, right, You got to
- 1:19:21take those hits. If you want to be out front,
- 1:19:24you're going to get hit. Yeah, and I don't want that.
- 1:19:26Yeah, there you go. Yeah, I don't want, man.
- 1:19:29Be the man and you know a good man and.
- 1:19:32That's what we we take, We tell women, we tell women sometime
- 1:19:35too. They're tapping it.
- 1:19:36Like he said earlier about the submissiveness.
- 1:19:38A lot of them when you tell them to be submissive to your man or
- 1:19:43your husband, significant or whatever, they take that as get
- 1:19:48in there and cook my food or whatever.
- 1:19:49They take it, they take it to heart.
- 1:19:51But it's not, that's not the way.
- 1:19:53That's not submissive, you know, you just, you know, you working
- 1:19:57together with your husband as like the as you should as a
- 1:19:59helpmate, you know, But when they when you say, when you say
- 1:20:03submissive, you need to be a submissive woman.
- 1:20:06Hey, sometimes women look like they threw you threw some salt
- 1:20:10in their face. You know, but it don't mean.
- 1:20:14It don't mean that when they say, you know, women should be
- 1:20:17submissive to their man, it don't mean that you a slave or
- 1:20:20something. It don't mean that.
- 1:20:23Well, I can. I can vouch for my time.
- 1:20:25They agree an incredible queen and where I go she cater to me
- 1:20:29and I cater to her and she I call my alpha Rd. dog but just 5
- 1:20:34foot one truck driver and she's a builder in construction so she
- 1:20:38know how to her place of the alpha female and so I'm the go
- 1:20:41get her. She do what she got to do what
- 1:20:43you call it NBA you call it NBANBAOF.
- 1:20:46It's NBA for only fans. What for the color of that you?
- 1:20:52Mentioned you mentioned something my brother about the
- 1:20:55men being in front of taking the hit, right.
- 1:20:57And and I I've for myself as, as I've been, you know, working out
- 1:21:01for Ron. I I looked when I looked when I
- 1:21:04had the conversation about the foundation of the house, the
- 1:21:08meal being the foundation of the family.
- 1:21:11My conversation is, is what's my ingredients, right?
- 1:21:16So if you look at the foundation, it's concrete
- 1:21:18rebarb, it's gravel, it's stone, it's formwork, you know, it's
- 1:21:22anchor and bolts, moisture, Berry.
- 1:21:25Like all these things are at the in the in the ground of the
- 1:21:28Hostess house. Yeah.
- 1:21:30My conversation to men today is, well, what are you, what's your
- 1:21:33ingredients? Is it shame, embarrassment,
- 1:21:35disappointment, upset, frustration, all mixed with
- 1:21:39happiness. And like, we got to figure out
- 1:21:41as men, what is that? For what is it?
- 1:21:43Yeah, Whether it be pressed or whatever.
- 1:21:45Honor. Whatever.
- 1:21:47Yeah, said that that made me. That makes me think about these
- 1:21:51conversations moving forward. What's your ingredients as a
- 1:21:54man? Like what are you, what are you
- 1:21:56made of? Not what you do, but who are you
- 1:21:58as a your character? Yeah, a lot of times it's I.
- 1:22:02Would say a little, I would say a little shame is in there too.
- 1:22:05And the reason why I say that is because like a lot of guys, like
- 1:22:08that's coming up now, they are afraid to be out front and take
- 1:22:12the mantle. Like even in like, like being
- 1:22:15shy. You know, we both go to church.
- 1:22:17So, you know, you got guys, you know, we, we leaders in the
- 1:22:19church, our, our, you know, respect and respect the churches
- 1:22:22or whatever. And, you know, we take the lead.
- 1:22:25You know, what do we need to do or whatever.
- 1:22:27You know, you got a lot of guys who they just don't, they don't
- 1:22:31take the lead no more. It's just like they, they want
- 1:22:33to sit in the background, you know.
- 1:22:35So yeah, exactly. I see that every day that's
- 1:22:39turned off for a woman when a man can hold his own.
- 1:22:42That's the same. But the good news is there's
- 1:22:45somebody out there for everybody because it's too many of us.
- 1:22:48And. If.
- 1:22:50You ain't finding it. Yeah, you can.
- 1:22:51You can when I when you go around the world, you know, most
- 1:22:53of us been all over the world. You know how people are
- 1:22:56different in other countries? It's it's amazing what we have
- 1:23:01available. I got to the point where I said,
- 1:23:03hey, I'm just going to get me two robots from Japan next year.
- 1:23:07But then I had a nightmare and then I programmed them wrong and
- 1:23:09they beat the cramp out of me. So I'm scared of that part now.
- 1:23:16You know what about? The programming.
- 1:23:22Let me tell you all about the programming.
- 1:23:25This this is the beauty of today's show.
- 1:23:27Because again, that's why I made it here.
- 1:23:29And when YouTube Brothers hit me up about the show, imagine this
- 1:23:36is the ingredients of some of us.
- 1:23:39I feel like I don't have a right to exist.
- 1:23:45I feel like I have. Now imagine that's part of your
- 1:23:47ingredients. Imagine I bother people just by
- 1:23:51being alive. Imagine I wish I'd never been
- 1:23:55born. Imagine an ingredients of I'm a
- 1:23:59burden, I feel invisible, I'm nothing, I don't matter.
- 1:24:03I will never be enough. I'm all alone in this world.
- 1:24:07How can you have a relationship? You can't.
- 1:24:11With those kind of things. And that's what I'm saying is in
- 1:24:14the background, it's not even in the foreground in your
- 1:24:17conscience. I'll talk about in the
- 1:24:18subconscious mind of the person that you're living from that
- 1:24:24silently. Yeah.
- 1:24:26How, how, how? How can we?
- 1:24:29You can't. Well, they say that we were
- 1:24:30asked to be to have the parents that we have.
- 1:24:33We were asked at birth, you know, we chose our parents and
- 1:24:38and we got to remember and we're now learning, you know, burying
- 1:24:42people 6 feet you when you bury a loved one in that casket that
- 1:24:46that dissolves. The body dissolves.
- 1:24:48You're it's like you bearing you, you, you putting seeds in
- 1:24:52the grill. You're putting that body back
- 1:24:54into this earth and it's going to bloom again.
- 1:24:57And it's in a recycle, a caught recycle of being reborn here on
- 1:25:01earth without the memory of where you've been in the past.
- 1:25:04Now, if you get cremated, that's another story because your soul,
- 1:25:08from what I'm understanding, your soul is free now and you
- 1:25:11can go anywhere you want to go. But if you bury yourself, get
- 1:25:14buried in the ground, you're replanting yourself to grow here
- 1:25:19again. And you're stuck.
- 1:25:20And a lot of people don't understand that.
- 1:25:23But a lot of people are stuck here on this earth because
- 1:25:26they're reborn here, you know, reincarnated, what you call it,
- 1:25:30but you don't remember. You don't remember your past
- 1:25:33lives, but once you break that cycle, then you know, you know,
- 1:25:39hey, I'm free. Because God has given us the
- 1:25:41capability that the spiritual beings that we are, we're part
- 1:25:44of the universe and we can go anywhere in this this universe
- 1:25:50when we leave here. And this is not the best place,
- 1:25:53but we got to make it the best place.
- 1:25:55Why we here? And you can't be afraid of death
- 1:25:58because death, they say, from what I'm understanding, because
- 1:26:02you know, when I was in surgery and from emergencies and I
- 1:26:05figured out, you know, that white light they talk about, you
- 1:26:08see, I'm sitting there and when the doctors came in to cut them
- 1:26:11lights on them, surgical lights. And I'm thinking I'm dying right
- 1:26:14now. And I'm like, man, damn the
- 1:26:16white, that's the surgical lights.
- 1:26:18They know white lights. I'm serious, everything that you
- 1:26:25said, there's people that believe all those different
- 1:26:28things, right? But what my brother said about
- 1:26:30the shame is I, I, I just turned 55 in March at 54.
- 1:26:40I discovered for 52 years I've been living in avoiding shame,
- 1:26:46embarrassment, disappointment. And that was from a 2 year old
- 1:26:50child decision toward my mother before I really had language,
- 1:26:56right? And so when you understand that,
- 1:26:58and when you understand brain science and you understand how
- 1:27:02the brain functions, when you put those pieces together, man,
- 1:27:06it is amazing how powerful our mind is.
- 1:27:10Right. And the work that you've got to
- 1:27:12do to unravel, as he's saying for me, unravel all the
- 1:27:15decisions that you made-up about these conversations, as
- 1:27:19sometimes it's a natural survival state of mind that we
- 1:27:23make up the decision from our childhood that that that the
- 1:27:27brain creates these conversations already.
- 1:27:31And if you attach to one of those, you spend your life
- 1:27:36renewing your heart trying to get.
- 1:27:38Free from those things, right? That's right.
- 1:27:40And and, and and that's the part for me that coming back to
- 1:27:43church, it's like that's the work is you got to renew your
- 1:27:47mind. What, what, what principles,
- 1:27:49what tools, what conversations are you using that you believe
- 1:27:54in that you trust to unravel those?
- 1:27:57Because at 54, man, I'm like, you got to be kidding me. 52
- 1:28:01years and I and I have proof. I have evidence.
- 1:28:05I got body sensations like I got memories and all, all, all of
- 1:28:10it. I won't say all of it, but more
- 1:28:13than 70% of it was made-up. Made-up until I found something
- 1:28:21like The Word to challenge those thoughts up against those
- 1:28:25stories. Right, like you said, man, it's
- 1:28:28a, it's a like to back to Amanda, you know, it's a
- 1:28:31multitude of things, but always tell people like the guys, like
- 1:28:35she said she was, you know, I guess talking to or dealing with
- 1:28:37or whatever, you know, and he's not bashing Women's Day or
- 1:28:41whatever, nothing like that. But majority of the women now
- 1:28:44are raising boys, young boys and they are raising, they're
- 1:28:48raising young men. The you know the mean that they
- 1:28:52are raising, they ain't this, they are not the mean that they
- 1:28:55want to date themselves exactly. You know what I mean?
- 1:28:57So. Yeah.
- 1:28:59So right now like that, yes. But see.
- 1:29:01I think it's helped. Right.
- 1:29:03And like I I'm saying, I'm just I'm going to say that in my way
- 1:29:06before we end this show, the Bible speaks so of a man and a
- 1:29:10woman being by yourself. God wants us to be by yourself
- 1:29:13first to work on herself. I don't know why people rest
- 1:29:15into relationships. Singleness.
- 1:29:18Oh my God, run a nightclub. Are you here live.
- 1:29:21I'm going to find me a baller. And I know I would tell them
- 1:29:25I'll be walking down the line in the nightclub.
- 1:29:26I say, so you're going to follow a baller, huh?
- 1:29:28I say I guarantee you that ball will be a one shot caller
- 1:29:31tonight, right? Next week, you're back here mad.
- 1:29:35That motherfucker was just in that blame, blame, blame.
- 1:29:37I said, you just said you're going to find a baller.
- 1:29:40Well I take NBA stands for NBA stands for only fans.
- 1:29:45Everybody get only fan accounts now trying to catch these dudes
- 1:29:48and God telling you to wait because if you broken yourself
- 1:29:52and get successful he going to see that perfect man. 22 broken
- 1:29:55yolks is not going to work. That's.
- 1:29:58Why I tell people don't get a relationship until you're going
- 1:30:00to have sex. Me and my girl, I'm being real
- 1:30:01with you. We're not having no intercourse
- 1:30:03at all. We're not married.
- 1:30:03I'm not married to you. I'm not doing that because
- 1:30:06that's not if you want to go run your butt on somewhere and go
- 1:30:08out of here, I'm not going to hold you back.
- 1:30:11God bless you and I'm going to give my blessings.
- 1:30:14So and Gary, though I am I I don't try to 45678 women, man.
- 1:30:17I can't do all that. I can't balance my own business.
- 1:30:19And if I balance 54 women right, I don't that part, you know,
- 1:30:23call you call you the wrong name maybe, but my car slice of my
- 1:30:28tires, I got tires right, No. Dre is a genuine man.
- 1:30:32This brother is, I mean, he, he's a guy that everybody loves
- 1:30:36here everywhere, you know? So, yeah, Dre's the guy.
- 1:30:39I. Appreciate that man.
- 1:30:41I tried to be a guy gave me that tell me I died at birth.
- 1:30:44My mom died. Give a birth, man.
- 1:30:45We both came back 22 minutes letters in my book.
- 1:30:48Well, I told Gary Gandy to write a book because I know Ferran
- 1:30:51should have about four or five best sellers right now, but we
- 1:30:55need to write a book Amanda. You definitely to write a book,
- 1:30:57everyone. Told me.
- 1:30:58That yeah, everyone that CBT will make you.
- 1:31:02I wrote my book 2 of them I do well, I do have the do do what
- 1:31:11you do, but God tell you our stories are who we are as human
- 1:31:14beings and we can help them out. Our stories something out with
- 1:31:17us as people all the time. Well, your testimony is
- 1:31:21important. Your testimony is important.
- 1:31:23When they get it. Thank you.
- 1:31:25Thank you. Sorry in my day, so I bless you.
- 1:31:27Appreciate you all man. I appreciate everybody this.
- 1:31:30Was exciting. Amanda Amanda what what do you
- 1:31:33want to say before we get out of here?
- 1:31:34What do you want to? I actually did almost cry when
- 1:31:46you Ferran opened up about the shame and like you feel like you
- 1:31:51don't deserve to be here. That actually almost made me cry
- 1:31:55because and then like, I instantly wanted to like,
- 1:31:59nurture you, you know, that's just how I am.
- 1:32:02If I see someone. Like if I just see someone, you
- 1:32:07know, in pain or something, I just feel naturally like, oh, I
- 1:32:10need to help them, you know? And I wanted to ask you men,
- 1:32:14since I'm the minority here, as a woman, what can I do to help
- 1:32:20support men with their mental health and be there for them?
- 1:32:24I think it's important for me to know, especially as a coach.
- 1:32:28Respect my mind's respect though. 1 for me.
- 1:32:33Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:32:34On a health tip tip for everybody, because I dealt with
- 1:32:37hypertension and that's a silent killer that took my kidney, that
- 1:32:42I got the cancer from all the things I told you in the
- 1:32:45military, but I could have saved my kidney, but I had to go
- 1:32:49through what I had to go through.
- 1:32:50I was on dialysis for nine years because my blood type is OOO
- 1:32:55positive. And so it's hard to find a
- 1:32:57donor. But the bottom line is once I
- 1:33:01got my kidney, I got a whole new life.
- 1:33:04So if you really want it, I mean, I told you a little bit
- 1:33:07about me, but I've actually created a franchise, a superhero
- 1:33:11franchise, but you'll be hearing about shortly.
- 1:33:13And the first one is Keeper Zagaya.
- 1:33:16And we're going to be dealing with with the Mother Gaia Earth
- 1:33:21and saving humanity and getting people to love and come
- 1:33:25together. And that's the first one, then
- 1:33:28the Kingdom of Gaia and then the Keeper.
- 1:33:30And I got some serious characters.
- 1:33:32So you're going to laugh, but I got Shaq coming in as Blackfoot.
- 1:33:36I got Bill Bellamy. He told me I was given the part
- 1:33:41of Wolfman Black to Kevin Hart because my buddy is close to
- 1:33:44Kevin Hart. But when I told Bill Bellamy
- 1:33:46about it, he said, Gee, that's a man.
- 1:33:49That's what condo on steroids. He said, give me Wolfman Black
- 1:33:52because Shaq is his cousin. So, I mean, so I got a cast of
- 1:33:58superheroes that we're about to put out.
- 1:34:01And so that's what I've been doing lately is creating what I
- 1:34:05started 30 years ago and now it's coming to par now.
- 1:34:08So I look forward to sharing more about that with you all.
- 1:34:12But God is good. Just keep the positive energy.
- 1:34:15All the. Time and you will get what you
- 1:34:18want out of this life. Yeah.
- 1:34:20You know, Amanda, you said, you know, for men it's it's, it's
- 1:34:26tough because some of those stuff, some of those things are
- 1:34:28layered, right? And so the best thing that I've
- 1:34:32learned so far for myself is we say that.
- 1:34:36We say that we are good listeners.
- 1:34:38Are we really, do we listen to react, to respond?
- 1:34:42And I tell my, I have three daughters.
- 1:34:44So I tell my daughters, you got to ask more questions.
- 1:34:47You got to listen to the what they say to you and, and, and
- 1:34:51give that back to them of what they said to see if that's what
- 1:34:54they really trying to say, because a lot of times we don't
- 1:34:56say what we're dealing with. We use words to describe life.
- 1:35:00And I'm struggling, you know, I could, I could be struggling for
- 1:35:03something that I, that you might have some resources to help me
- 1:35:06fix. But if I just say I'm
- 1:35:08struggling, then I'm not telling you what it is.
- 1:35:10And so I don't get a chance to say that, but because why as
- 1:35:15men, we, we, we, we suffer in silence and we don't want to be
- 1:35:18judged, right. And, and, and finding your
- 1:35:22partner, it's like, oh, shoot, if I tell you my deepest
- 1:35:25secrets, are you going to slander my name?
- 1:35:27Are you going to go tell my? And so men have a lot of things
- 1:35:31that we deal with that we don't know how to language or share
- 1:35:36because of with the fear of the repercussions of being open and
- 1:35:41vulnerable. So a lot of times that respect
- 1:35:44could just be having a conversation.
- 1:35:47So you said that this is what you're dealing with.
- 1:35:49You know, why did why did you use the word scared or struggle?
- 1:35:53Like, what's the struggle like? So hopefully that opened up that
- 1:35:56person to have the space to say, Oh well, this is what I'm
- 1:36:00dealing with. But a lot of times you.
- 1:36:03Describing it? Yeah, By the time we say that,
- 1:36:05we're describing it and it's like, well, it's a description.
- 1:36:09I can't help you if you don't say what it is.
- 1:36:12And a lot of times it's it's not even a real thing because our
- 1:36:15minds is making up these stories.
- 1:36:19I'm a nurturer, like she said, she knows.
- 1:36:20She said she wanted to nurture you earlier.
- 1:36:23That'll help. Yeah, that that helps too.
- 1:36:26Cause a lot of, a lot of women, they, they are, they thought,
- 1:36:29they don't think that men like we, we like to be nurtured too,
- 1:36:33even though we may not show it. But you know, we like to be, you
- 1:36:37know, pat on the back, rubbed on the head or whatever, you know,
- 1:36:41and talk to talk to like, like fairness said on a, you know,
- 1:36:45respectful way or whatever. You know, we, you know, we like
- 1:36:48that too. But like I said, like he said,
- 1:36:50we got layers where we going to, we going to, we going to be
- 1:36:53hard. But, you know, once we, you
- 1:36:57know, you got a woman that's they know that's going to
- 1:36:59nurture them like that and talk to them in a respectful manner,
- 1:37:03You know, the account, the account opened up.
- 1:37:06Yeah. They opened up.
- 1:37:07Yeah. I would say listen, the longer
- 1:37:10you listen to a person, the more they'll tell you who they are.
- 1:37:14That's right. So you just sit and listen.
- 1:37:16They'll tell you exactly what's going on.
- 1:37:18They can't help it as you think about it.
- 1:37:21Like us on this platform right here tonight.
- 1:37:24Everybody had a story. If.
- 1:37:27You let them talk. They'll talk and talk and talk
- 1:37:30and the longer you listen, just listen.
- 1:37:32All you got to do is just let them empty out and then you'll
- 1:37:35you'll know how to navigate or they talk, then you know how to
- 1:37:40sidestep. Well, I know this isn't a spot I
- 1:37:43might need to stay away from. You know, when you just like you
- 1:37:46said, you nurture them along the way, but just listen.
- 1:37:49That's it. It it definitely will.
- 1:37:52They definitely will tell you where they are.
- 1:37:54Anybody. Well I I thank y'all for hanging
- 1:37:59out for an hour and 37 minutes so I got to cut.
- 1:38:02Hey. There's a show Next up after
