- 1:20Speaker 2: All right, Welcome back to earlier Nicha l A Aditions
- 1:23Speaker 2: and the very special edition on Man.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It's the first time we've actually covered somebody on our
- 1:29Speaker 3: podcast at the same person be on the podcast.
- 1:33Speaker 2: This is very special. Yeah, it's dope. It's dope, so
- 1:35Speaker 2: you know, give the introduction.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Al Harrington started as a basketball legend in our area
- 1:42Speaker 4: in Trackstate area, right change out of high school to
- 1:45Speaker 4: the to the league and had a great NBA career
- 1:48Speaker 4: and then is having even more success now in the
- 1:51Speaker 4: entrepreneurial realm.
- 1:52Speaker 2: So he's a perfect guest for us because our show is, uh,
- 1:56Speaker 2: you know, the.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Backstories of financial aspects of sports and entertainment for the
- 1:59Speaker 5: most of our business, but sports entertainment, right, a lot
- 2:01Speaker 5: of time people they look at NBA players, NFL plays, actors,
- 2:04Speaker 5: but they don't really know what goes on behind the
- 2:05Speaker 5: scenes on the financial side, right, and financial literacy is
- 2:08Speaker 5: something that you know is in the season right now,
- 2:10Speaker 5: especially in our culture. So it's encouraging to see our
- 2:14Speaker 5: growth sure as far as you know, being one of
- 2:16Speaker 5: the top financial podcasts on icenes and a short period
- 2:19Speaker 5: of time. And one of the reasons why we're doing
- 2:22Speaker 5: that is because people are interested in sports entertainment, right.
- 2:25Speaker 3: The reason the success is really testament to how much
- 2:28Speaker 3: people needed in our posture. So that's why we delivered
- 2:31Speaker 3: the content at there we are We're gonna keep delivering.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah, not for sure.
- 2:34Speaker 5: So yeah, so we wrote about I remember about our
- 2:38Speaker 5: early in our Instagram, like early on stages of Instagram,
- 2:41Speaker 5: and it was about you know, him starting a company
- 2:44Speaker 5: right called Bola, and it talked about him putting five
- 2:48Speaker 5: million dollars into it and the company.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Blew up and you tell the story. But he he
- 2:55Speaker 2: liked the.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Posts and he started following us, right, So that's so
- 3:00Speaker 5: we appreciate it. And then we spoke about him on
- 3:03Speaker 5: another podcast when we spoke about marijuana industry, and now
- 3:06Speaker 5: we got in here, so's it's it's full cerviuce, So
- 3:09Speaker 5: thank you for coming on.
- 3:09Speaker 6: Appreciate thanks for having me, Fellows. I appreciate it. We
- 3:12Speaker 6: appreciate you.
- 3:13Speaker 5: So all right, can you just give the people a
- 3:14Speaker 5: quick backstory I wrote, but I think it's a really
- 3:16Speaker 5: dope story as far as to how you got into
- 3:20Speaker 5: the marijuana cannabis industry, as far as you know, starting
- 3:23Speaker 5: out with the seed money.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I believe it currently come wrong.
- 3:26Speaker 5: But you couldn't even do it in your names and
- 3:27Speaker 5: your cousin's name, right, correct, because you didn't want to
- 3:29Speaker 5: like cross those lines.
- 3:31Speaker 6: Yeah, man, I didn't want to lose my contract. But
- 3:34Speaker 6: I saw an opportunity that made a lot of sense.
- 3:37Speaker 6: And you know, For me, it was all about being
- 3:39Speaker 6: able to help you.
- 3:39Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. It wasn't about just the
- 3:41Speaker 2: financial game.
- 3:42Speaker 6: It was like wow, you know, so like you said,
- 3:44Speaker 6: just to touch on the backstory, you know, we're from
- 3:47Speaker 6: the same area, so you already know like the old
- 3:49Speaker 6: War on drugs and it was explained to us, and
- 3:53Speaker 6: you know, we was taught that, you know, cannabis is
- 3:55Speaker 6: a gateway drug. We saw people getting locked up for
- 3:58Speaker 6: having weed and all that. So you know, I know,
- 4:02Speaker 6: I ain't want to never get locked up, you know
- 4:03Speaker 6: what I'm saying. My mom who my ayes, you know
- 4:07Speaker 6: what I'm saying. And in the fact, and I didn't
- 4:09Speaker 6: want to be a crackhead either, you know what I'm saying.
- 4:11Speaker 6: For me, I stayed away from it, you know, as
- 4:13Speaker 6: far away from it as I could. But when I
- 4:15Speaker 6: got to the NBA, it was the first time and
- 4:17Speaker 6: I saw like active players that was actually like killing
- 4:20Speaker 6: on a nightling basis, smoking heavy tree, you know what
- 4:23Speaker 6: I'm saying. That's when I first realized that, yo, we
- 4:27Speaker 6: was being lied to. But it's still you know, it
- 4:29Speaker 6: still wasn't for me, you know what I'm saying. Just
- 4:30Speaker 6: can you see somebody do something. I mean, it's for you,
- 4:33Speaker 6: you know what I mean. I always felt that smoking
- 4:35Speaker 6: was just bad for you in general, you know what
- 4:37Speaker 6: I'm saying. So I stayed away from it. So throughout
- 4:40Speaker 6: my career, like I said, I had teammates that you
- 4:42Speaker 6: used to smoke heavy. Stephen Jackson's one that I could
- 4:44Speaker 6: throw out there, Matt Barnes and some of the guys
- 4:47Speaker 6: that I won't mention now, but you know, I.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Had teammates that actually huld to smoke.
- 4:53Speaker 6: So you know, I would ask a little questions and
- 4:55Speaker 6: all that, and they would tell me, like, yo, I
- 4:57Speaker 6: smoke because of this. I smoke because of that, And
- 4:59Speaker 6: like I said, it was productive. So it changed the
- 5:01Speaker 6: way I thought about cannabis. So, you know, fast forward
- 5:04Speaker 6: to when I signed with the Denver Nuggets in two
- 5:06Speaker 6: thousand and nine or ten, when I left the Knicks.
- 5:09Speaker 6: You know, when I got there, they had just started
- 5:10Speaker 6: in medical program or whatever. So you know, I want
- 5:13Speaker 6: him do this to always read the newspaper, especially with
- 5:16Speaker 6: being George Carby and my coach. And you see, he's
- 5:18Speaker 6: definitely exposed himself since he's stopped coaching the type of
- 5:22Speaker 6: asshole that he was. He was the type of coach
- 5:26Speaker 6: that when we won the game, it was because of him.
- 5:27Speaker 6: When we lost, it was our fault. So I used
- 5:29Speaker 6: always read the paper just to see what he was saying.
- 5:31Speaker 6: But at the same time, I was picking up the
- 5:33Speaker 6: newspaper every morning and it was always something about the
- 5:36Speaker 6: benefits of cannabis. So my grandmother come to see me
- 5:39Speaker 6: play towards the end of my first season there in twenty.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Eleven, and you know, she got there.
- 5:44Speaker 6: She had me put this pillow box up on her
- 5:46Speaker 6: counter and she saw taking all this medication and the
- 5:49Speaker 6: athlete and he said, Grandma, like taking so many vitamins.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And she's like, boy, he's.
- 5:53Speaker 6: Not vitamin She's like, I got eye, blood pressure, diabetes,
- 5:56Speaker 6: gla cooma. And I was like, Grandma, I was just
- 5:58Speaker 6: reading the paper the other day that cannabis help with glacoma.
- 6:01Speaker 6: And I was telling everything I was reading, and finally
- 6:04Speaker 6: she said, well, what is cannabis? And I was like,
- 6:06Speaker 6: you know, marijuana weed. She's like, reefuck, ain't no way,
- 6:11Speaker 6: no reef going to help me out composition. And she's
- 6:14Speaker 6: seventy nine years old this time at the time, right,
- 6:16Speaker 6: and I'm you know, so I'm starting to educate up,
- 6:19Speaker 6: but she shuts me down. So the next day I
- 6:21Speaker 6: come home and out the games, I come home and
- 6:22Speaker 6: shoot around and she's sitting in my kitchen and you know,
- 6:24Speaker 6: she's sitting with her hands in them, facing her hands,
- 6:27Speaker 6: and I'm like, Grandma, what's up? And she look up
- 6:29Speaker 6: and she's squating and she's like, that's your baby doll.
- 6:31Speaker 6: She's like, my eyes are so bad that I could
- 6:33Speaker 6: barely see. So I say, Grandma, you tell me you
- 6:34Speaker 6: saying all that medication and you're still in pain, like
- 6:37Speaker 6: it's not working at all, and she's like it's hit
- 6:39Speaker 6: and miss I was like, look, this would be our secret,
- 6:41Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I was like, just try it. And you know, and
- 6:45Speaker 2: I believe in.
- 6:46Speaker 6: God, right, you know, I grew up in church and everything,
- 6:48Speaker 6: and you know, as we all know, like old people
- 6:50Speaker 6: are hard.
- 6:51Speaker 2: To change their beliefs and then they waves, you know what,
- 6:53Speaker 2: I know what I'm saying. And my grandmother, I was time,
- 6:56Speaker 2: like she's not going to heaven. We're all going to
- 7:00Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying.
- 7:01Speaker 6: And not only that, like she was a back going
- 7:03Speaker 6: to my family back and going to the church. So
- 7:05Speaker 6: like I mean she's so straight and narrow, and for
- 7:07Speaker 6: her to say, okay, I'll try it, that was God
- 7:10Speaker 6: to me, you know what I'm saying.
- 7:11Speaker 2: He was helping me pick what was next.
- 7:13Speaker 6: For me, which I was blessed because a lot of
- 7:15Speaker 6: players where you know, we talk about the financial literacy
- 7:18Speaker 6: and stuff like that, which sucks. And a lot of
- 7:20Speaker 6: guys when they get done playing on the what's next?
- 7:22Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying, they so used to be
- 7:24Speaker 6: chasing after room. When that's over, it's just like it's
- 7:26Speaker 6: such a brude awakening. It's just like you don't know
- 7:28Speaker 6: what they're doing a lot of times you start to
- 7:31Speaker 6: spend money to be relevant, you know what I'm saying,
- 7:33Speaker 6: and that's how they run through the bag, you know.
- 7:35Speaker 2: What I'm saying.
- 7:36Speaker 6: So, you know, so I talked to her about it
- 7:39Speaker 6: or whatever, and she's just like, you know what, I'm
- 7:40Speaker 6: in so much pain they I'll try and think. So
- 7:42Speaker 6: I called my boy. I was like, yo, you got
- 7:44Speaker 6: a little dispensary. Fine, gets something for you know, for glackoma.
- 7:47Speaker 6: And I'm not a smoke at the time, So I
- 7:48Speaker 6: don't know what to recommend. No indecoods of TV. I
- 7:51Speaker 6: don't know nothing. So he bring back Vietnam cushion and
- 7:56Speaker 6: and it's how we Vavee rose in front of a baby,
- 7:58Speaker 6: you know, and that's harsh. So taking the garage and
- 8:01Speaker 6: she starts smoking it and like she's like blowing it
- 8:03Speaker 6: in and blowing it out her nose like perfect. I'm
- 8:06Speaker 6: looking at it like like, well, I spoke a cigarette
- 8:11Speaker 6: one time, and a long story short, you know, she smoked.
- 8:15Speaker 6: I took it downstairs. I went to the nap. I
- 8:18Speaker 6: woke up an hour and a half later, and before
- 8:20Speaker 6: I got dressed, I said, we'll go check on to
- 8:22Speaker 6: make sure she cool. And I went downstairs and uh
- 8:26Speaker 6: knocked on the door. Back to the door, and she
- 8:28Speaker 6: was looking down. I was like, Grandma, you're good. And
- 8:29Speaker 6: then she turned around. She was crying to and she
- 8:32Speaker 6: was like I'm here. She's like, you know how the
- 8:33Speaker 6: big read the words of my wife went over three years.
- 8:36Speaker 5: Wow.
- 8:36Speaker 6: So that's my inspiration. That's my story. That's how I
- 8:40Speaker 6: got into cannabis. And you know, we decided, you know,
- 8:43Speaker 6: me and my cousin who was my business partner, we
- 8:45Speaker 6: designed to name of the company after her name is Bayo.
- 8:48Speaker 2: So that's how we got out. You know that's our
- 8:49Speaker 2: origin story and how we start. Yeah, now that's dope.
- 8:51Speaker 5: We could just talk about the the league for a
- 8:53Speaker 5: little bit, because yeah, you know, we do write a
- 8:54Speaker 5: lot of stories and important. It's unfortunate, right with a
- 8:56Speaker 5: lot of guys. I even Kochie had spoken when he
- 8:58Speaker 5: was saying the past. The problem that a lot of
- 9:01Speaker 5: guys have it that they don't know that passion after right,
- 9:03Speaker 5: and even if you have a long career thirty five
- 9:06Speaker 5: thirty seven, that's still relatively young in life, right.
- 9:09Speaker 2: So and then I also shout to Sebastian. You know,
- 9:12Speaker 2: he fell on some hard times. He just you got convicted,
- 9:15Speaker 2: so you know, we're praying for him.
- 9:16Speaker 5: But he he had a good clip too where he said,
- 9:20Speaker 5: you know, he kind of explained how a lot of
- 9:22Speaker 5: guys fall into financial hardship because when you get paid,
- 9:25Speaker 5: it's not like you get fifty million dollars all at once.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Right, we know that there's a jock tax. Like every
- 9:29Speaker 2: state that you go in, you pay the state tax,
- 9:31Speaker 2: and then you know, you get.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Paid twice a month, then you have to pay everybody else,
- 9:35Speaker 5: and then a lot of times you you don't have
- 9:37Speaker 5: the financial literacy when you're coming into the league, so
- 9:40Speaker 5: you know, you all of your stuff is kind of
- 9:42Speaker 5: like out front.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Now you got to kind of pay it back, right,
- 9:45Speaker 2: So can you.
- 9:45Speaker 5: Just talk about that briefly as far as like because
- 9:47Speaker 5: you you are you weren't inside, so you know, as
- 9:50Speaker 5: far as like.
- 9:50Speaker 6: That, and you played for multiple teams for a few states, Yeah,
- 9:54Speaker 6: I mean obviously the text stuff and you know, that
- 9:56Speaker 6: is what it is. And you know, I got a
- 9:57Speaker 6: story of my rookie year, you know, they they sent
- 10:01Speaker 6: me and then they sent me my taxes to sign
- 10:04Speaker 6: or whatever, and you know it was like all these books,
- 10:07Speaker 6: you know, yay high And I looked at it and
- 10:10Speaker 6: I ain't know what it was.
- 10:12Speaker 2: So I took in, I put up in my closet.
- 10:14Speaker 6: I was singing Antonio Davis as a ripper, And like
- 10:17Speaker 6: two weeks later, I came home and he was sitting
- 10:20Speaker 6: there and he was signing those same books. One day
- 10:23Speaker 6: and when I came in, I'm like, what's up, big fellay,
- 10:25Speaker 6: like chilling, like what you're doing. He's like, I'm signing,
- 10:28Speaker 6: you know, paying taxes. He's like, you got yours. I
- 10:31Speaker 6: was like, I got some books like that. A couple
- 10:33Speaker 6: of weeks ago, on the day of my closet. He's like,
- 10:35Speaker 6: go get them, So I go get them. Bring me
- 10:37Speaker 6: he like smack me behind my head, like those your
- 10:40Speaker 6: taxi at that time, you're eighteen eighteen years old, right,
- 10:45Speaker 6: I remember I just turned nineteen because I remember that.
- 10:48Speaker 2: The challenges this man, it's like we first generation money exactly.
- 10:53Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. That's the thing is like
- 10:55Speaker 2: we didn't learn how to make that money. You understand
- 10:57Speaker 2: what I'm saying. We didn't.
- 10:58Speaker 6: Really I'm not gonna say we didn't earn it. Definitely
- 11:00Speaker 6: earned it, but we didn't learn how to make it.
- 11:01Speaker 6: We didn't run a business. We didn't learn how to
- 11:03Speaker 6: balance books and the running the p and ls and
- 11:06Speaker 6: all that type of stuff.
- 11:07Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 11:07Speaker 6: That's kind of after the fact that a lot of
- 11:09Speaker 6: times what happened with the players, which sucks, is that
- 11:12Speaker 6: we had financial advisors and agents and all that that
- 11:15Speaker 6: discourage us to learn how to do that. They just like,
- 11:18Speaker 6: pay me, I'll take care of keep to the blood,
- 11:20Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. And that's the issue that
- 11:22Speaker 6: we had. It's like, no, like and I learned that
- 11:25Speaker 6: after I turned twenty eight, is when I started taking
- 11:28Speaker 6: a that's say, interest in where my money was going
- 11:31Speaker 6: in taxes I was paying, how I was paying taxes,
- 11:33Speaker 6: where my.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Money was actually going up.
- 11:35Speaker 6: Until that point, I was just having fun and I
- 11:37Speaker 6: was just trusting that they had my back, you know
- 11:39Speaker 6: what I'm saying. So that responsibility of first money is
- 11:43Speaker 6: just is very tough man, because you know, it's nobody
- 11:46Speaker 6: in your family you can really go to. You know
- 11:48Speaker 6: what I'm saying, They don't know. The mothers, you know,
- 11:50Speaker 6: have credit bad, Dad, credit bad, Grandma, credit bad. They
- 11:54Speaker 6: don't know, you know what I'm saying. So you end
- 11:55Speaker 6: up having to trust somebody that you don't know, and
- 11:58Speaker 6: you just got to pray to God it right. You
- 12:00Speaker 6: know what I'm saying. Where I was lucky was that
- 12:02Speaker 6: I had a financial guy. You know, I ain't gonna
- 12:05Speaker 6: lie my first my rookie deal. When I got done
- 12:08Speaker 6: with my rookie deal, so I probably made just something
- 12:10Speaker 6: two million bucks right over four years span. Because I
- 12:13Speaker 6: was a twenty fifth PIX, I ain't make as much bread,
- 12:15Speaker 6: but like I had like thirty thousand dollars in my
- 12:17Speaker 6: name after that. You know what I'm saying, I ain't
- 12:19Speaker 6: know about my mother, Alexis, I bought two benses, I
- 12:21Speaker 6: bought a crib. I ain't know, you know what I'm saying.
- 12:25Speaker 6: But after that, once that happened, that's when I moved
- 12:28Speaker 6: to my new financial advisors and they started teaching me
- 12:30Speaker 6: there like look, you buy this, or they even took
- 12:32Speaker 6: a little stuff with like you know, if I can't
- 12:34Speaker 6: wait for something with cash, I can't afford it.
- 12:36Speaker 2: And that was a great mindset to give me.
- 12:38Speaker 6: So now I'm not gonna go and buy five five
- 12:41Speaker 6: hundred thousand dollars cars now two point five million. I oh,
- 12:45Speaker 6: you understand what I'm saying that, Like, Okay, if I'm
- 12:47Speaker 6: gonna spend five on I gotta get what I can
- 12:49Speaker 6: get you for that.
- 12:49Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying. So little things like that
- 12:52Speaker 2: is what helped me, you know what I'm saying.
- 12:53Speaker 6: And you know the players I just say, you know,
- 12:56Speaker 6: it takes some time, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 12:58Speaker 6: you kind of got to get your feet in then
- 13:00Speaker 6: start figuring it out or whatever. But I will always
- 13:02Speaker 6: tell these guys like, you know, take the time to
- 13:05Speaker 6: learn about your money and learn like how you spending
- 13:08Speaker 6: it and who's spending it, where it's going and finding
- 13:11Speaker 6: out tax breaks and starting now for profits and if
- 13:14Speaker 6: you're gonna pay take care of your mom, do it
- 13:15Speaker 6: this way. You're gonna take care of your family, do
- 13:17Speaker 6: it this way. And uh, you know, it's very challenging,
- 13:20Speaker 6: you know, you know what I'm saying, because you know,
- 13:22Speaker 6: like I said, being first generation money and you know,
- 13:25Speaker 6: a lot of people make you feel.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Like they like you own. I want you, I want
- 13:30Speaker 2: you to want you will.
- 13:31Speaker 6: Cook, you know what I'm saying, And you feel bad.
- 13:33Speaker 6: Next thing, you know, you're gonna spend some bread, you
- 13:36Speaker 6: know what I'm saying.
- 13:36Speaker 2: So it's tough. But you know the good thing about
- 13:39Speaker 2: these guys making so much money down I think they.
- 13:42Speaker 6: Definitely more of a window to kind of make some
- 13:45Speaker 6: mistakes and still be okay that.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Keep getting better. To absolutely that's a game.
- 13:54Speaker 5: And it's important too because so I'm a financial or
- 13:56Speaker 5: choice of teacher and educat, so yeah, I see it firsthand.
- 14:02Speaker 2: As far as like a right, they're not a lot
- 14:05Speaker 2: of financial advisors that.
- 14:05Speaker 5: Look like me, right, So a lot of this Some
- 14:08Speaker 5: guys offers they might work with athletes things that nature,
- 14:10Speaker 5: and I can just tell they're not looking at them
- 14:13Speaker 5: as the peers, because they're at the peers, right, and
- 14:15Speaker 5: they're looking at them as I mean, took it, and
- 14:18Speaker 5: it's like, Okay, when you're done playing, it's over right. Like,
- 14:20Speaker 5: so I think that it's important, like you said that
- 14:23Speaker 5: the athletes have to start empowering themselves or work with
- 14:26Speaker 5: people that are interested in empowering them right. And I
- 14:29Speaker 5: think that's one of the good things even with our platform,
- 14:31Speaker 5: is that there's so much information available now and that's
- 14:33Speaker 5: why we definitely want to sit.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Down with you and we'll talk about you know, your
- 14:36Speaker 2: business now in the next segment.
- 14:38Speaker 5: But you really have to You can't the days of
- 14:41Speaker 5: just letting somebody do with whatever they want and being
- 14:44Speaker 5: blind and over right. We can't afford that to happen
- 14:47Speaker 5: because we've seen it happen every generation.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Right. We want the article page about Chris Bobs R. Yeah,
- 14:53Speaker 3: twenty five million dollars said you know nothing.
- 14:55Speaker 2: About finance or telling you so do you never walked?
- 14:59Speaker 2: I'm uncle exactly. It's like how possible his state was?
- 15:04Speaker 3: Like back to Chris Bosher's like his main focus is
- 15:07Speaker 3: I have to train, I have to perform and to
- 15:09Speaker 3: keep my body up.
- 15:10Speaker 2: That's the only thing in folks. And it's like, but
- 15:12Speaker 2: you're getting paid to do this, like that's.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Almost as equally as important, right, like to say you
- 15:16Speaker 3: have you don't know anything about finance, you just sign
- 15:18Speaker 3: one hundred and twenty five like it's mind body, right.
- 15:22Speaker 5: Well it's it's really, it's reality and put the thing
- 15:24Speaker 5: about it, not even not even the put because nobody
- 15:27Speaker 5: really do anything about finance.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I know a lot of doctors don't anything about find
- 15:30Speaker 2: the difference that their career is. Don't be forty years exactly.
- 15:33Speaker 5: You you were fortunate when you had a second contract, right,
- 15:35Speaker 5: but what if you didn't have that second contractor you
- 15:37Speaker 5: say you have thirty thousands not out the league.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Now you're now you're really screwed and you're what twenty
- 15:40Speaker 2: four at that time, maybe twenty two?
- 15:44Speaker 5: Right?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, so all right, my whole life in front of me. Yeah, disasterous.
- 15:49Speaker 5: All right.
- 15:49Speaker 2: So now we're going to go into the business side
- 15:51Speaker 2: of things. All right, So now we're gonna talk about
- 15:55Speaker 2: you know, you you you built an empire. This is
- 15:58Speaker 2: an impact band person, so you.
- 16:02Speaker 5: Know, especially like you said, in our community, right, Unfortunately
- 16:05Speaker 5: there's countless people during ten, fifteen, twenty years, thirty years,
- 16:10Speaker 5: fed time, stay time for marijuana.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Right, for marijuana.
- 16:15Speaker 5: So now we're in a position where you can actually
- 16:16Speaker 5: make money legally off of marijuana. Right. So it's one thing,
- 16:20Speaker 5: all right, because I get this question a lot Instagram
- 16:23Speaker 5: and people just in general, they're like, how do I
- 16:25Speaker 5: get involved in the marijuana business? So you can buy stock,
- 16:27Speaker 5: we'll talk about that. But you actually built a company, right,
- 16:32Speaker 5: so can you just talk about that because I'm sure
- 16:33Speaker 5: that there's a lot of people. I know for a
- 16:35Speaker 5: fact that there's a lot of people that want to
- 16:37Speaker 5: get involved in but they don't know how to go about.
- 16:39Speaker 5: They don't know licenses you have to do, they don't know,
- 16:41Speaker 5: like you know, it's just like that's the problem with
- 16:44Speaker 5: our community.
- 16:44Speaker 2: A lot of times we don't have mentors. We figured
- 16:47Speaker 2: out as we go, you know what I mean.
- 16:48Speaker 5: That's why we make so many mistakes exactly because there's
- 16:51Speaker 5: no mentorship. They don't there's no blueprint to follow. So
- 16:54Speaker 5: it's like, Okay, I'm just gonna go out there.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I think one of the things you like and what
- 16:58Speaker 3: you've done is like you've kind of the blueprint for
- 17:00Speaker 3: people from what you're the.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Saying, like I remember watching the HBO Sports special and.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I was like, wow, this guy literally created a farm
- 17:09Speaker 3: and went and played the seed to himself.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I think that was dope. I was like one of
- 17:15Speaker 2: the best posts.
- 17:16Speaker 3: I was like, you said, make sure you're an expert
- 17:18Speaker 3: of what you're asking people to do, right, So if
- 17:20Speaker 3: I'm gonna hire you, trust it, I know what I'm doing.
- 17:23Speaker 2: We'll talk about the Harrington group.
- 17:25Speaker 6: Yeah. Man, it's funny, bro like like you' said. Man, Like,
- 17:28Speaker 6: I don't really have like a financial background or any
- 17:31Speaker 6: of that. Like it was literally like I just took
- 17:34Speaker 6: my work ethic that I took from how I got
- 17:37Speaker 6: into the NBA and played sixteen years. Like you know
- 17:39Speaker 6: my background. I saw who was a freshman iceed to
- 17:42Speaker 6: really really. I never that my mom used to beat
- 17:47Speaker 6: me on the one all the time.
- 17:49Speaker 2: That's hard. That's even as a freshman, I was hard.
- 17:53Speaker 6: I was the worst player on the team as a freshman,
- 17:54Speaker 6: and I probably was like the eighth best player as
- 17:57Speaker 6: a sophomore.
- 17:58Speaker 2: He went from that to then the play like in
- 18:01Speaker 2: two years. But it was I lived in the gym.
- 18:04Speaker 6: It was work that they learned like and and thank
- 18:06Speaker 6: god I was able to get the results because it
- 18:09Speaker 6: showed me what all wor can do for you. You
- 18:10Speaker 6: know what I'm saying, and what I've done is I
- 18:12Speaker 6: was just taking that same approach into the Cannibis centry.
- 18:15Speaker 6: So like you go back there, tell my office you
- 18:16Speaker 6: see it. I got a big plaque on my wall
- 18:18Speaker 6: and say, nobody with our workers. You know what I'm saying.
- 18:20Speaker 6: Like the reason why I played sixteen year was because
- 18:23Speaker 6: I swear every year because I remember my mindset as
- 18:26Speaker 6: a rookie. My mind said as a rookie was I
- 18:28Speaker 6: was looking at the older dudes and I'm like, I'm
- 18:30Speaker 6: taking hib getting that spot, like I gotta play. So
- 18:33Speaker 6: I always remember I was always in the back of
- 18:35Speaker 6: my mind as I got older in the league that
- 18:37Speaker 6: these rookies that's coming in and just trying to.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Take my minute, you know what I'm saying. So and
- 18:41Speaker 2: I take that same thing with cannabis.
- 18:43Speaker 6: I'm like, yeah, Vayola may be popping or whatever, but
- 18:46Speaker 6: like I don't sleep, you know, I don't sleep any
- 18:48Speaker 6: better at like you know what I'm saying, Like, I'm
- 18:50Speaker 6: still constantly thinking there's another black company coming behind me
- 18:53Speaker 6: that's gonna try to claim the things that I've done it,
- 18:56Speaker 6: or either just regular companies, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:58Speaker 2: So that's always my age. You know what I'm saying.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I always can constantly do that.
- 19:02Speaker 6: But to answer a question like what they've done, and
- 19:07Speaker 6: I mean the lawmakers and stuff like that, because they
- 19:09Speaker 6: have so many.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Different people influencing their decisions.
- 19:14Speaker 6: Because the issue that we have in cannabis right now
- 19:16Speaker 6: is that the people that are actually writing the laws
- 19:18Speaker 6: don't have any business acting.
- 19:20Speaker 2: They're just politicians.
- 19:22Speaker 6: So they writing these laws and putting these taxes and
- 19:25Speaker 6: all these different things, and they're killing the industry. You
- 19:27Speaker 6: know what I'm saying, What I think they should have
- 19:29Speaker 6: did it. They should have went to some of the
- 19:31Speaker 6: people that were successful in the black market and used them.
- 19:33Speaker 6: That's consulting, because there was a thriving industry until y'all
- 19:38Speaker 6: stepped in, You understand what I'm saying.
- 19:39Speaker 2: So that's that piece. But why it's tough is this.
- 19:44Speaker 6: They're trying to monopolize the process, right And like what
- 19:46Speaker 6: you said, you know, our communities was you know, most
- 19:49Speaker 6: impacting on drugs, eighty five percent are all black men.
- 19:52Speaker 6: Drug arrests on cannabis related You know what I'm saying,
- 19:55Speaker 6: and we have no representation in the industry right now,
- 19:58Speaker 6: with me doing what I'm doing in a couple other people,
- 20:00Speaker 6: you represent one percent in the enagry. Like that's ridiculous,
- 20:03Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. And it's tough for me
- 20:06Speaker 6: to sit here and tell somebody like, go do this
- 20:10Speaker 6: to create ownership, because it's tough. It's like, you know,
- 20:13Speaker 6: you look in New Jersey, someplace that we're very familiar with,
- 20:15Speaker 6: or even New York. You know, some of the requirements
- 20:17Speaker 6: was like in New York, it was like we gotta
- 20:19Speaker 6: have like twenty twenty five years of experiencing farming or agriculture.
- 20:24Speaker 2: I look, black person own land, not understand what I'm saying.
- 20:33Speaker 6: New Jersey was you know, you had to show fifteen
- 20:36Speaker 6: to twenty million dollars in a workable capital part of
- 20:40Speaker 6: your application process.
- 20:41Speaker 2: You understand what I'm saying. So what black person can
- 20:43Speaker 2: do that?
- 20:44Speaker 6: I'm like, even I struggle getting people to put up
- 20:46Speaker 6: money to have twenty in the account. You undertand what
- 20:48Speaker 6: I'm saying, that's what all the resources I had. So
- 20:50Speaker 6: just imagine somebody off the block. And I'm not saying
- 20:52Speaker 6: this is discouragure what I'm just trying to give you
- 20:54Speaker 6: is just like what's going on, right, So how I
- 20:57Speaker 6: look at it is like, you know, one of the
- 20:58Speaker 6: things I want to do is I want to start
- 21:00Speaker 6: incubating or whatever for the for the black communities. Right.
- 21:04Speaker 6: So what I want to do is I want to
- 21:06Speaker 6: get licensed in every state and I want to build
- 21:08Speaker 6: facilities that are big enough that I can allow other
- 21:11Speaker 6: black entrepreneurs that want to get into the space of
- 21:13Speaker 6: an opportunity to come in perfect the crafts, whether they
- 21:17Speaker 6: want to make cbity, THAC waters, where they want to wait,
- 21:20Speaker 6: THAC mints, whatever it is. I want to give them
- 21:23Speaker 6: a platform and licenses allow them to be created and
- 21:26Speaker 6: create products.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Right. That's one way that I feel like I can
- 21:29Speaker 2: include more black people, right. Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 6: The other way is this and this is real because
- 21:34Speaker 6: my company right now, right, you know, I would like
- 21:36Speaker 6: to I wish I hired, I wish I had more
- 21:38Speaker 6: black employees, right.
- 21:40Speaker 2: But I promise you when I put out these job opportunities.
- 21:44Speaker 6: Online through uh you know all those yeah, all that stuff,
- 21:51Speaker 6: they don't apply. It's nobody applying, you know what I'm saying.
- 21:55Speaker 6: So and I can't figure out what jobs, like what
- 21:58Speaker 6: jobs are, whether it's you know, whether it's working in
- 22:01Speaker 6: the front or in the grow being a grower, being
- 22:05Speaker 6: a packager. And this is this is gonna be my point.
- 22:08Speaker 6: You got to start somewhere. You got to put your
- 22:11Speaker 6: ego aside if you want to get into this industry.
- 22:13Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying. I know so many people
- 22:15Speaker 6: bro I problem. So many people that have started off
- 22:18Speaker 6: as packagers that now own dispensaries.
- 22:21Speaker 2: They're not black, you understand what I'm saying.
- 22:23Speaker 6: Like they went through that, They went through the whole process,
- 22:26Speaker 6: learn every part of the business, you know what I'm saying,
- 22:28Speaker 6: and then figure it out because at the end of
- 22:30Speaker 6: the day, what I will tell you is that if
- 22:32Speaker 6: you do through that, you're gonna be valued with somebody.
- 22:34Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 22:35Speaker 6: I wish I could run to somebody that say, I packaged,
- 22:37Speaker 6: I'll grow out this, that and the third, Like I'm.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Hiring you a set.
- 22:41Speaker 6: That's all the experience I need because what because of
- 22:43Speaker 6: the way my company is kind of set up, you
- 22:46Speaker 6: wear multiple hats. You know what I'm saying, we kind
- 22:48Speaker 6: of eye attitude is like everybody do a little bit
- 22:50Speaker 6: of everything.
- 22:51Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, I don't have no problem
- 22:53Speaker 2: going to clean the.
- 22:53Speaker 6: Bathroom dead ass, you know what I'm saying, Like, that's
- 22:56Speaker 6: just how I operate when they see me going. Everybody know,
- 22:59Speaker 6: it's not been anybody to going that to operate like that,
- 23:01Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. So, you know, so one
- 23:03Speaker 6: of the things is just I would just say, you know,
- 23:06Speaker 6: look at applying to get into the industry. Maybe you
- 23:08Speaker 6: can't get ownership right now out the gate, you know,
- 23:10Speaker 6: I would say that this industry is going to be.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Like liquor, where liquor has over forty thousand brands. You
- 23:17Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. It's gonna be the same thing
- 23:18Speaker 2: in cannabis.
- 23:19Speaker 6: So maybe right now in twenty nineteen or twenty twenty,
- 23:22Speaker 6: you don't get your ownership and something, But twenty twenty one,
- 23:24Speaker 6: it's always going to be opportunity because it's just gonna
- 23:26Speaker 6: be just like the liquor industry, have craft beers or
- 23:29Speaker 6: have all these different things. So I would just tell,
- 23:31Speaker 6: you know, all the entrepreneurs or people that want to
- 23:34Speaker 6: try to figure out how to get in, it's just
- 23:36Speaker 6: go get a job, man, get a job in the space.
- 23:38Speaker 3: You know what, I'm saying, you guys are File Extracts
- 23:41Speaker 3: operates from four states, right, California, Oregon, Michigan, and Colorado.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:45Speaker 3: So when you say like people are applying to do jobs,
- 23:48Speaker 3: like the farming would be in Oregon.
- 23:50Speaker 6: Farm, it would be in Oregon. So like, you know,
- 23:52Speaker 6: so my farm is like where it's at. I don't
- 23:54Speaker 6: think a lot of black people there. Yeah, that's just
- 23:58Speaker 6: because of the jar Recraft location, you know what I mean.
- 24:01Speaker 6: But in Colorado, yes, California for sure, Michigan one thousand.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Percent is that's your newest one missions on the It's
- 24:09Speaker 2: place or whatever.
- 24:10Speaker 6: So we opened up our retail in the next fifteen days,
- 24:13Speaker 6: so exit about that's our first retail operation. And it
- 24:16Speaker 6: goes back to what I was telling you, was like
- 24:18Speaker 6: I'm learning every part of the business. You know what
- 24:20Speaker 6: I'm saying. So I know all the cultivation, greenhouse, outdoor, indoor,
- 24:23Speaker 6: I know all the manufacturing methods.
- 24:25Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Now we're going to dive
- 24:27Speaker 2: into the retail part.
- 24:28Speaker 6: And you know and like and to my point that
- 24:30Speaker 6: I was just saying, like I wanted to do retail
- 24:33Speaker 6: five years ago, I wasn't ready.
- 24:35Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, but I built up, built
- 24:37Speaker 2: up to the.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Point where now we're ready and now we're opening up
- 24:39Speaker 6: the spot, you know what I'm saying, and it's going.
- 24:42Speaker 2: So how all right?
- 24:43Speaker 5: So as far as scaling the business right, because you
- 24:45Speaker 5: you started, I don't know exactly, like if you started
- 24:48Speaker 5: with a dispensard, like, what was what was the first
- 24:50Speaker 5: thing you actually started with.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I was just I was a caregiverer.
- 24:52Speaker 6: So what that means is, you know, if we're all
- 24:55Speaker 6: patients in Colorado or whatever, you would give me your
- 24:58Speaker 6: paperwork and I would grow when you were from twelve
- 25:00Speaker 6: to sixteen dollars for you, right, And when we first started,
- 25:04Speaker 6: we only had forty likes and it was in a
- 25:07Speaker 6: twelve thousand square foot building and all of our patients
- 25:10Speaker 6: either had HIV or cancer or whatever.
- 25:12Speaker 2: So we grew in them.
- 25:13Speaker 6: So we do you grow it, we will give them
- 25:16Speaker 6: a portion of it and the rest of them would
- 25:18Speaker 6: sell to the dispensers.
- 25:19Speaker 2: So what's your business model?
- 25:20Speaker 5: As far as sale to thee we had a restaurant
- 25:22Speaker 5: on on and he actually was a great interview. And
- 25:25Speaker 5: the thing is everybody might not be in the restaurant business,
- 25:27Speaker 5: but in my personal opinion. Business is business, So no
- 25:30Speaker 5: matter what, the key principles of scaling a business can
- 25:34Speaker 5: you apply to anything, right, And obviously you've you've been able.
- 25:37Speaker 5: That's what one of the things I'm really impressed about
- 25:39Speaker 5: is that you've been able to scale your business in
- 25:40Speaker 5: a very short period of time.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:41Speaker 2: And like you said, like you didn't have a business background,
- 25:44Speaker 2: so a how were you able to do that?
- 25:47Speaker 5: And like what's your kind of business business model like
- 25:50Speaker 5: broad brains as far as like you know, looking at
- 25:52Speaker 5: opportunities scaling.
- 25:53Speaker 6: Like you know, yeah, So my biggest thing is, like
- 25:56Speaker 6: you know, my number one thing is to build a
- 25:58Speaker 6: good brand. You know what I'm saying. I feel like
- 26:00Speaker 6: once the brand is strong enough, you can take the
- 26:03Speaker 6: brand any you know what I'm saying. There's a couple
- 26:05Speaker 6: of examples of other brands that have sold to Canadian
- 26:08Speaker 6: LPs and different things like that that don't on any
- 26:10Speaker 6: of the supply chain. All they do is have a brand,
- 26:13Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. But what I'm trying to
- 26:14Speaker 6: do a vertically integrate my brand. It gives them more value,
- 26:18Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. What I've learned is that
- 26:20Speaker 6: you know, nobody is you know, like, ain't nobody gonna
- 26:23Speaker 6: treat your car the way you treat your partisans your car.
- 26:26Speaker 6: They getting they drop some. It ain't the same you're
- 26:28Speaker 6: getting it, you know what I'm saying. It's just that's
- 26:30Speaker 6: just life. That's just how I just realized that people
- 26:33Speaker 6: do things. So, you know, for us, the reason why
- 26:35Speaker 6: we get cultivation in every sea is because we have
- 26:38Speaker 6: a valuel away that we do things the way that
- 26:40Speaker 6: we grow the way the end product, you know what
- 26:43Speaker 6: I'm saying.
- 26:43Speaker 2: So that's the reason why.
- 26:45Speaker 6: For me, why you know, we continue to go stay
- 26:48Speaker 6: by state and acquirity licenses so that every time someone
- 26:52Speaker 6: opens up a BODYO package, they get an experience. You
- 26:55Speaker 6: know what I'm saying that we control the experience because
- 26:57Speaker 6: we control the you know, the supply chain.
- 26:59Speaker 3: So Harrington Group, right, it has three things under the umbrella.
- 27:03Speaker 3: You have violas you got, uh is a baby butters
- 27:06Speaker 3: just viola yea uh butter baby baby, I'm sorry. And
- 27:11Speaker 3: then Harrington Wellness, which is our replay.
- 27:15Speaker 2: This is like a difference on the butter baby is
- 27:17Speaker 2: the edible they just walked into.
- 27:21Speaker 6: Yeah they yeah, so they make so they make butters
- 27:24Speaker 6: and coconut oil, they make olive oil. They all kind
- 27:27Speaker 6: of stuff that you can cook with and they have
- 27:28Speaker 6: vision and their messages that you know, a lot of
- 27:31Speaker 6: sick people can't eat edibles, you know what I'm saying,

- 30:24Speaker 8: Coach, the energy out there felt different. What changed for
- 30:27Speaker 8: the team today?
- 30:28Speaker 6: It was the new game day, scratches from the California
- 30:30Speaker 6: Lottery players, everything.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Those games sent the team's energy through the roof.
- 30:34Speaker 8: Are you saying it was the off field play that
- 30:36Speaker 8: made the difference on the field.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Hey, little play makes your day, and today it made
- 30:40Speaker 2: the game. That's all for now, Coach.
- 30:42Speaker 8: One more question play than New Los Angeles Chargers San
- 30:45Speaker 8: Francisco forty nine ers and Los Angeles Rams scratchers from
- 30:48Speaker 8: the California Lottery. A little play can make your day.
- 30:51Speaker 8: Peace May Responsibility must be eighteen years or older to
- 30:53Speaker 8: purchase plate or claim.
- 30:54Speaker 6: And then we also have a program where it was
- 30:58Speaker 6: like the Mary Kay whatever. So we allow on people
- 31:01Speaker 6: from the community and opportunity to be a part of
- 31:03Speaker 6: the brand.
- 31:03Speaker 2: To be able to sell products.
- 31:05Speaker 3: So I was reading when I think twenty twelve you
- 31:09Speaker 3: had the surgery on you need correct and the staff
- 31:12Speaker 3: infection and then trying to treat you like everything wasn't
- 31:15Speaker 3: working right and you were using a cream.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I was like, huh.
- 31:19Speaker 3: And then when I kept reading, I'm like, oh, okay.
- 31:22Speaker 3: And then from there then you start getting more guys.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Steve Kerr right, I'm gonna start using it. And then
- 31:27Speaker 3: you had this meeting with David Stern that churns. That's
- 31:31Speaker 3: a game changer.
- 31:32Speaker 2: It was a game changing man.
- 31:33Speaker 6: That that was crazy man, Like, I mean, I seen
- 31:36Speaker 6: him at this thing called a Milking Conference, which is
- 31:38Speaker 6: a conference they hold here in LA I think it's
- 31:40Speaker 6: like forty five hundred ticket just to come for three
- 31:43Speaker 6: days and just kind of learn about all different Industries
- 31:47Speaker 6: or whatever, and he was on He was on a
- 31:50Speaker 6: pay talking about the effect of esports on like the NBA,
- 31:56Speaker 6: NFL because the esports guys were saying like it's gonna
- 31:59Speaker 6: trump love sports, you know what I'm saying.
- 32:01Speaker 2: And he was on there and he was just talking,
- 32:03Speaker 2: you know, they was very witty, you know what I'm saying.
- 32:06Speaker 6: So he was up there talking circles around a lot
- 32:08Speaker 6: of people up there, him Robber Kraft was up there
- 32:11Speaker 6: that got from Univision or whatever. So after after they
- 32:13Speaker 6: got done, I just went up to him like, heaby,
- 32:15Speaker 6: what's up man? And uh, you know, his mind is crazy,
- 32:18Speaker 6: remembers everything, bro, Like you gotta think about. He's seen
- 32:21Speaker 6: over you know, two thousand players the least.
- 32:24Speaker 2: But when he sold me, its not like I was
- 32:26Speaker 2: Lebron or somebody. First thing, he said, how's your knee?
- 32:29Speaker 1: Wow?
- 32:29Speaker 5: My knie?
- 32:30Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying. I never ever sat and
- 32:32Speaker 6: talked with him about it ever, you know what I'm saying.
- 32:34Speaker 2: He just shocked like that. So we started talking.
- 32:36Speaker 6: I think that was my way of telling him like, yeah,
- 32:38Speaker 6: actually okay, I actually was caim blah blah blah blah
- 32:41Speaker 6: his face and I started telling him what I was doing,
- 32:44Speaker 6: and he was just saying, you know, we don't smoke
- 32:46Speaker 6: all the product. It's real funny about it. I was like, hey,
- 32:49Speaker 6: you know, you get a chance. I want to sit
- 32:50Speaker 6: and talk with you about a couple of things. And
- 32:52Speaker 6: it took me like seven months to set up my
- 32:54Speaker 6: first menion with whatever. But he's so busy. I had
- 32:58Speaker 6: like a thirty minute times like talk to him right
- 33:01Speaker 6: like the lady from that was running the Sacramento Kings
- 33:03Speaker 6: was meeting after and he was in there for an
- 33:05Speaker 6: hour and a half. It was that interested in everything
- 33:08Speaker 6: that I was telling, you know what I'm saying, and
- 33:09Speaker 6: he's like, let's have another meeting Madigan. And then the
- 33:12Speaker 6: third time I met with him, I just asked him
- 33:13Speaker 6: and said, you mind if I just like interview you
- 33:15Speaker 6: on TV talking about that, and he said yes, and
- 33:19Speaker 6: you know what I had that It was so funny
- 33:21Speaker 6: because you know, he's an attorney, so it's kind of
- 33:22Speaker 6: hard trying to like trick him right, and you know
- 33:25Speaker 6: he's very calculated. He's not gonna say now, you know mean,
- 33:28Speaker 6: So when I was going through all the questions with
- 33:30Speaker 6: Mavick Carter or whatever, is you know, interrupted and helped
- 33:33Speaker 6: me put that together. We was trying to figure out
- 33:35Speaker 6: ways to kind of walk him down the road to say,
- 33:38Speaker 6: like the leak should just considered Yeah, the bitshoes and
- 33:42Speaker 6: literally my second question, bro, he said that. He was
- 33:45Speaker 6: just like, yeah, I have to talk to you. I
- 33:46Speaker 6: think they really should re evaluate the policies and this,
- 33:49Speaker 6: that and there. So I'm looking at everybody off camera
- 33:51Speaker 6: like what else you want?
- 33:55Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 33:56Speaker 6: But now I was cool man, and a lot of
- 33:58Speaker 6: people always say how much ownership did you give them
- 34:01Speaker 6: in your company?
- 34:02Speaker 2: Gave him nothing, you know what I'm saying.
- 34:04Speaker 3: He believe that that conversation could change, Like the way
- 34:07Speaker 3: Lee's look at it now like that, I feel like
- 34:09Speaker 3: that's super imployant.
- 34:10Speaker 2: I think I think it's uphill you.
- 34:12Speaker 5: You kind of know, like, Okay, the tide is turning, right,
- 34:15Speaker 5: So anybody that is intelligent, it's a fight that's not
- 34:19Speaker 5: worth fighting, right, even if you're not.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Pro marijuana, And you don't have to be pro marijuana
- 34:23Speaker 2: or eight or use it yourself, but.
- 34:26Speaker 5: It's really hard to be totally against it at this
- 34:30Speaker 5: point because it's a battle that eventually you're not gonna
- 34:34Speaker 5: win that back, right, So I think that when you
- 34:36Speaker 5: see David Sterning and you know the guys who go
- 34:38Speaker 5: there and tell that obviously intelligent people and they want
- 34:40Speaker 5: to be on the right side of history.
- 34:41Speaker 6: You gotta remember, man, I swear bro like you know,
- 34:44Speaker 6: it was so funny I first got done that. I
- 34:46Speaker 6: was so scared to tell you what I was doing, right,
- 34:48Speaker 6: just thinking of like how people do say yea. And
- 34:52Speaker 6: I mean since I was retired, I've been offered the
- 34:54Speaker 6: NBA jobs, don't coach, you know what I'm saying, I've
- 34:57Speaker 6: been offered TV jobs like nothing.
- 35:00Speaker 2: I'm not saying that they don't care, but it's like they're.
- 35:03Speaker 6: Starting to come around to realize and like all the
- 35:06Speaker 6: pharmaceutical stuff we're using, dog, like that's the real dangerous stuff.
- 35:11Speaker 6: Like we can sit here right now, came and smoke
- 35:15Speaker 6: for the next two weeks straight. I mean, back to back,
- 35:18Speaker 6: you edibles asleep. We gonna pass out, but I guarantee
- 35:22Speaker 6: you won't die. There's five pills. There's pills out here
- 35:26Speaker 6: in the world that they've given people that they give
- 35:28Speaker 6: a bottle of sixty and you could take five of
- 35:31Speaker 6: them and getting their hands on them, chot anything like that.
- 35:34Speaker 6: They take five in their death, So how do you
- 35:37Speaker 6: compare it to it?
- 35:38Speaker 2: Don't it makes sense? You know what I'm saying. And
- 35:40Speaker 2: I think that people are starting to really wake up, y'all.
- 35:42Speaker 6: We're not saying that, We're not saying that everybody should smoke,
- 35:45Speaker 6: We're not saying any of that.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Always saying is that it's an alternative way for people.
- 35:49Speaker 6: To medicate themselves without the highly addictive and the dangerous
- 35:53Speaker 6: from the suit and drugs that are being off.
- 35:55Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 35:55Speaker 6: You look at these commercials and it's like, you know,
- 35:58Speaker 6: people are skipping and the commercials like side of things, internal.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Beating, give it on the beach, and they're still skipping.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I'm like that, you know what I'm saying. So it's
- 36:11Speaker 2: just like, you know, my own things.
- 36:12Speaker 6: I just feel like, man, sometimes man, it's just like
- 36:14Speaker 6: commaisense is not always coming, you know. But you know
- 36:18Speaker 6: the reason why I like the platform that I have
- 36:21Speaker 6: is that, you know, when I go to these seminars
- 36:23Speaker 6: and it is these doctors up there talking about fidal commanding.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Or is it this that?
- 36:26Speaker 6: And the third like you're talking to people that have
- 36:29Speaker 6: no idea what you gotta talk to you know what
- 36:31Speaker 6: I'm saying. You got talking to their language. And that's
- 36:33Speaker 6: what I've been able to do with other athletes and
- 36:35Speaker 6: other entertainers that are stepping out and being advocates. I
- 36:39Speaker 6: think that we are starting to humanize the plant in
- 36:41Speaker 6: the whole process in general.
- 36:42Speaker 2: That's that's dope, that's nope virus. And now we're gonna
- 36:44Speaker 2: go into all last.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Second and talking about the future of the marijuana industry
- 36:48Speaker 5: and company as well. All right, so now we're gonna
- 36:50Speaker 5: go into the future. But before we go into that,
- 36:52Speaker 5: because we like to paint the real picture of entrepreneurship.
- 36:55Speaker 5: I don't know if you watch like YouTube a lot,
- 36:57Speaker 5: but I do. And there's a lot of entrepreneur all
- 37:00Speaker 5: guys on YouTube, and they always they talking circles for
- 37:03Speaker 5: that you don't really know what they said, and it's
- 37:05Speaker 5: all motivational.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Like if you don't wake up in five ahead, you
- 37:08Speaker 2: know what I mean. But it's like, okay, but what
- 37:10Speaker 2: does that mean? You know what I'm saying. What the
- 37:11Speaker 2: good thing I like about you is that you actually
- 37:14Speaker 2: started a few businesses right at that.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Yeah, So reading your portfolio was like, you've had businesses
- 37:20Speaker 3: that haven't succeeded though. Right at the date you at
- 37:23Speaker 3: the restaurant in Miami and you try a hotel in
- 37:28Speaker 3: New York City, upstate, upstate.
- 37:31Speaker 2: That way too far. You were talking about it's important
- 37:36Speaker 2: for people to understand that every business is not gone. Ye.
- 37:39Speaker 6: No, I mean most successful business people would tell you
- 37:42Speaker 6: they took hell a l before they were successful, you
- 37:44Speaker 6: know what I'm saying, Like, that's part of the process.
- 37:46Speaker 2: You just got to manage the loss. You understand what
- 37:49Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 37:49Speaker 6: So you know, in the beginning, like I used to
- 37:52Speaker 6: be so like you could sell me on any idea,
- 37:55Speaker 6: any idea, you was passionate about it. I'm like, how
- 37:59Speaker 6: much shit we could do well? And I learned that
- 38:03Speaker 6: that's not what we operate, you know what I'm saying. So,
- 38:04Speaker 6: like the one operation was fully in the city. So
- 38:07Speaker 6: you know, Felipo on fifty ninth Street has been over
- 38:11Speaker 6: ten years, ten twelve. I think basket might put some
- 38:17Speaker 6: money up. I think you know what I'm saying. And
- 38:20Speaker 6: you know we in there every week.
- 38:22Speaker 2: It's cracking.
- 38:23Speaker 6: I'm like, in Miami, I gotta go ahead. What I
- 38:27Speaker 6: learned about Miami, Miami seasonal, that's true, saying. What I'm
- 38:31Speaker 6: saying people go down there during the winter. They don't
- 38:33Speaker 6: go down there during the summers. You understand what I'm saying.
- 38:35Speaker 2: So I learned that. So now there's any Miami business
- 38:38Speaker 2: deals and it's food or all.
- 38:40Speaker 6: That kind of related or service I know now like
- 38:43Speaker 6: and now I know that about other places too, like
- 38:45Speaker 6: places it is a seasonal place.
- 38:46Speaker 2: You gotta know.
- 38:48Speaker 6: The hotel business. What happened with that I think was
- 38:52Speaker 6: more of just two thousand and eight happening is one
- 38:54Speaker 6: of the May investment. It's just everything that just crashed.
- 38:57Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying. I think the concept was good.
- 38:59Speaker 6: I don't know how far upstate New York maybe, but
- 39:02Speaker 6: you know they had, like Jack Nicholson had signed going
- 39:04Speaker 6: to do the golf course. They had a hotel bed,
- 39:08Speaker 6: the hotel was the anchor, and then they were gonna
- 39:10Speaker 6: build homes around the golf course.
- 39:12Speaker 2: So you know that that model has.
- 39:15Speaker 6: Worked a lot of places. You know what I'm saying is,
- 39:17Speaker 6: you know, I know a project right now growing up
- 39:19Speaker 6: in Vegas like that. You know that model has worked.
- 39:22Speaker 6: So I say that deal right there didn't come in fruition.
- 39:26Speaker 6: I think more just because of the time. You know
- 39:28Speaker 6: what I'm saying, I think the concept and everything was
- 39:30Speaker 6: actually right on. You know, Mariotte had just signed on
- 39:33Speaker 6: to manage the hotel, so you know, everything was coming
- 39:36Speaker 6: in place with that, but I took that out, you
- 39:39Speaker 6: know what I'm saying. And you know when I played
- 39:41Speaker 6: for the Knicks or right before when I was in
- 39:43Speaker 6: Golden State, I started the Protege, a sneaker line or
- 39:46Speaker 6: whatever that was going to be very successful, but I
- 39:49Speaker 6: had bad business partners, you know what I'm saying. So
- 39:51Speaker 6: that's when I started realizing I'm a bet on myself
- 39:54Speaker 6: and everything. So like a lot of times now, like
- 39:56Speaker 6: it's really tough for me to get to invest in
- 39:58Speaker 6: somebody else's idea. I got to fully understand it. Like
- 40:02Speaker 6: I mean, when I see you understand, I understand it
- 40:04Speaker 6: just like the person that's pitching it. And you know
- 40:06Speaker 6: what I'm saying, before I would actually make an investment.
- 40:09Speaker 6: And and I think that, you know, from taking all
- 40:12Speaker 6: those l's, I think that's what I learned. You know
- 40:14Speaker 6: what I'm saying is that you know, you can invest
- 40:16Speaker 6: in other people ideas or whatever, but you know, if
- 40:19Speaker 6: you're gonna make that investment, put.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Your heart own money into it.
- 40:21Speaker 6: You need to fully understand how you're gonna get your
- 40:23Speaker 6: money out, what all the risky involved, and what it's
- 40:26Speaker 6: gonna be the ROI, what's the true ROI, not just
- 40:28Speaker 6: something someone pitching. Because even in cannabis, I remember, like
- 40:34Speaker 6: someone pitching me, I'm in the business already. Like I'm
- 40:36Speaker 6: in it already. They came into my building in Colorado
- 40:40Speaker 6: and show me a facility they want to put up
- 40:41Speaker 6: in Nevada, and it was gonna make thirty million dollars
- 40:45Speaker 6: a year. And the one thing I can tell you
- 40:47Speaker 6: for sure, there's no businesses that you're starting a year
- 40:51Speaker 6: in cannabis.
- 40:51Speaker 2: It's just impossible, you know, because you got to remember.
- 40:53Speaker 2: And this is a gym for people to understand. It's like,
- 40:56Speaker 2: you know, when you're launching a new market.
- 40:58Speaker 6: It takes a while to get that cuts to my
- 41:00Speaker 6: acquisition because most people are going to the dispensary that
- 41:03Speaker 6: first time, and a lot of times those dispensaries aren't
- 41:05Speaker 6: gonna be carrying the fire fire either. So you're gonna
- 41:08Speaker 6: go in there, You're gonna spend sixty dollars for an
- 41:11Speaker 6: eighth smoke it, and remember your man got it on
- 41:14Speaker 6: the corner for twenty five, you know what I'm saying.
- 41:17Speaker 6: So it's gonna take you a while to realize that
- 41:20Speaker 6: your man stuff isn't tested, it's not as safe as.
- 41:22Speaker 2: What you actually smoke in the dispensary.
- 41:24Speaker 6: It takes people time to get you used to that
- 41:26Speaker 6: and realizing, like, this stuff out of this dispensary is
- 41:29Speaker 6: way safer for me and my family or my girl
- 41:32Speaker 6: or my own boy or whatever, you know what I'm saying.
- 41:34Speaker 6: And that's when people start going back to the dispensary
- 41:37Speaker 6: and realizing that smoking the other stuff is potentially dangerous,
- 41:41Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. So you know, they're sitting
- 41:43Speaker 6: there telling me, like we're gonna make all this money
- 41:45Speaker 6: in the year one of a market that's brand.
- 41:47Speaker 2: New, or like it's impossible, you know what I'm saying.
- 41:50Speaker 6: And it's shown if you look at the market out there,
- 41:52Speaker 6: people still kind of struggling in the body market and
- 41:55Speaker 6: it's been three.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Years now, you know what I'm saying.
- 41:57Speaker 6: So that's just you know, you know, like I said,
- 42:00Speaker 6: you just got to really educate yourself when you investment,
- 42:03Speaker 6: and you know it's not easy, and you know a
- 42:06Speaker 6: lot of times you know, especially depending on the industry,
- 42:08Speaker 6: like cannabis is so new, a lot of people getting tripped.
- 42:11Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I'm saying, because it's so crazy because
- 42:14Speaker 5: everybody's looking there like it's the gold rush.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Right you just go to La or Las Vegas and
- 42:20Speaker 2: open a dispens people believe are thinking like.
- 42:23Speaker 6: That, And it's not even that easy to open it, right,
- 42:27Speaker 6: Like you just can't go to any state and just
- 42:29Speaker 6: open up the dispension.
- 42:30Speaker 2: All these places right now, that's kind of that open
- 42:32Speaker 2: It's Oklahoma.
- 42:33Speaker 6: I would say that I know of right now that
- 42:35Speaker 6: it's pretty easy to go get a license and open
- 42:38Speaker 6: up you know what I'm saying. But a lot of
- 42:39Speaker 6: these markets, man, they're so regulated, and you know, the
- 42:43Speaker 6: markets that are smart to me, they make it somewhat
- 42:46Speaker 6: restricted just because you know that oversaturation, like a place
- 42:49Speaker 6: like you know, Washington and orel You know what I'm saying.
- 42:52Speaker 2: That's another thing I learned.
- 42:54Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying that you know, I'm not
- 42:55Speaker 6: really going to run and be so excited to run
- 42:57Speaker 6: into a state where it's unlimited licensing, you know what
- 43:01Speaker 6: I'm saying.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Where it's a place where it's undimit licenses. What I'm
- 43:03Speaker 2: gonna do is I'm.
- 43:04Speaker 6: Gonna go partner up waring those licenses producers come in,
- 43:08Speaker 6: give them my expertise, my SOPs, and just having to
- 43:11Speaker 6: feel of like ola job.
- 43:12Speaker 2: You know, I see what I'm saying.
- 43:13Speaker 6: It don't make sense for me to go spend all
- 43:15Speaker 6: the capex to go buy something to be competing, because
- 43:18Speaker 6: then it's just a race to the bubom.
- 43:19Speaker 2: You know. I use my example of like in Oregon.
- 43:22Speaker 6: In Oregon, when I went out there in twenty sixteen,
- 43:25Speaker 6: and outdoor pounds was being sold for any living too.
- 43:29Speaker 2: A Loanan nine hundred high end thirteen fourteen hundred.
- 43:33Speaker 6: By the time I harvested in twenty fourteen, the price
- 43:37Speaker 6: of pounds outdoor pounds was like three four hundred bucks.
- 43:41Speaker 2: But you know why because the market was oversaturated.
- 43:44Speaker 6: When I went out there in twenty sixteen, it was
- 43:45Speaker 6: only forty operators by the time I harvested it, and
- 43:49Speaker 6: the year later it was over four hundred producers. And
- 43:52Speaker 6: now you look at the market right now, they got
- 43:53Speaker 6: a million pounds of surplus in Oregon, you know what
- 43:56Speaker 6: I'm saying. So so these are the some of the
- 43:58Speaker 6: things people gotta learn. You just realizing, you know, and
- 44:02Speaker 6: you know, I gotta do a better job because I
- 44:03Speaker 6: wanted I want to get more of this access and
- 44:05Speaker 6: this and now even access with this information to other
- 44:10Speaker 6: entrepreneurs that's trying to figure it out. You know what
- 44:12Speaker 6: I'm saying, because these are like very valuable things that
- 44:14Speaker 6: they should know. It kind of help them instill in
- 44:17Speaker 6: the right direction so that they don't lose.
- 44:19Speaker 5: Not that's dope, and that was the dope when you
- 44:21Speaker 5: do that platform that you're speaking up too, because like
- 44:23Speaker 5: I said, there's so many I'm sure people hit you
- 44:25Speaker 5: up all the time, but there's so many people that
- 44:27Speaker 5: want to get involved in it, right, and it's like
- 44:30Speaker 5: it's not easy a and you know it's it's pitfall
- 44:33Speaker 5: for any other business. So you know, I think that
- 44:36Speaker 5: the more, like you said, the more you the more
- 44:38Speaker 5: you learn, right, you're gonna educate yourself.
- 44:40Speaker 2: And it also is important what you said before as
- 44:42Speaker 2: far as to say, Okay, a.
- 44:43Speaker 5: Lot of time people just want to come in and
- 44:45Speaker 5: open the dispense, Like nah, just work your way up,
- 44:47Speaker 5: like it takes time.
- 44:48Speaker 2: You know, you don't have to.
- 44:49Speaker 5: You're not gonna be over tomorrow. I think everybody's gonna
- 44:51Speaker 5: rush like I need to do this right now before
- 44:53Speaker 5: this blows up. I just wait, Like two years isn't
- 44:56Speaker 5: gonna kill it.
- 44:57Speaker 2: I said, you're right because you know, like know, and
- 45:00Speaker 2: I feel that pressure sometime.
- 45:02Speaker 6: There's a business owner too where you know, you see
- 45:04Speaker 6: all this consolidation happening around me, and it's like, damn man,
- 45:07Speaker 6: they got access to Marnie million. And I'm still trying,
- 45:11Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. But at the end of
- 45:12Speaker 6: the day, you know what I'm saying, I think that,
- 45:14Speaker 6: you know, being a little patient and I'm seeing move
- 45:17Speaker 6: too slow, be a little patient cause I'm at the table.
- 45:19Speaker 2: You know, that's all you can ask, is I'm a ask.
- 45:21Speaker 2: All I need is an opportunity.
- 45:23Speaker 6: So I'm at the tape. That's what am I gonna do?
- 45:25Speaker 6: What am I gonna do with this opportunity? And you know,
- 45:28Speaker 6: I feel like, you know, sticking to you to what
- 45:29Speaker 6: I'm doing and just building an unbelievable brand that everybody knows,
- 45:34Speaker 6: like I said, every time they pick up a package,
- 45:36Speaker 6: they have a great experience.
- 45:38Speaker 2: I think I'll be all right, you know what I'm saying.
- 45:39Speaker 2: I think I could be okay.
- 45:40Speaker 9: Yeah, So I read you know, you guys evaluation over
- 45:45Speaker 9: one hundred million, but you said billion's not off the question,
- 45:47Speaker 9: So you got what's the next market that you guys
- 45:50Speaker 9: are trying to tap it?
- 45:51Speaker 6: So you know I'm being honest, man, like, I never really,
- 45:54Speaker 6: I never came into this thing with a dollar mind
- 45:57Speaker 6: a dollar in mind.
- 45:58Speaker 2: You know I'm saying.
- 45:59Speaker 6: It was never about I'm gonna make a million a
- 46:01Speaker 6: billion dollars. You know a lot of times when I
- 46:03Speaker 6: do interviews, they kind of woke me down that road.
- 46:05Speaker 6: I fall for it every time. But one I think
- 46:09Speaker 6: that what I'm creating will be worth multi billion dollars,
- 46:14Speaker 6: not just one whatever.
- 46:15Speaker 2: One is too small, right.
- 46:17Speaker 6: But the reason why I think that is because the
- 46:20Speaker 6: good and how many people we're gonna help is the
- 46:22Speaker 6: reason why you're gonna have that kind of evaluation, as
- 46:25Speaker 6: you know, like with I, yo, like, I'm trying to
- 46:27Speaker 6: make this brand and brand of the people, you know
- 46:29Speaker 6: what I'm saying. And I got a couple of different
- 46:31Speaker 6: ideas of trying to figure out just how to get
- 46:33Speaker 6: regular people involved and investing in BODYO let them take ownership,
- 46:37Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying.
- 46:38Speaker 2: I think that's the kids like adding you know, adding customers.
- 46:42Speaker 6: Feel like they own the brand, you know what I'm saying,
- 46:44Speaker 6: Like like I always worference the Puffins sarat You know
- 46:47Speaker 6: what I'm saying. Puffers created the environment with Sarac where
- 46:51Speaker 6: people feel like they are part of that lifestyle. Right,
- 46:55Speaker 6: It's like you pick up that bottle like you win
- 46:56Speaker 6: in there looking got a suit like that out, you
- 47:03Speaker 6: know what I mean. So I learned that from him,
- 47:06Speaker 6: but I saw that, you know what I'm saying, And
- 47:08Speaker 6: you know, I think that he was able to do
- 47:10Speaker 6: that because he's very authentic in his message and he
- 47:13Speaker 6: was consistent, you know what I'm saying, And that's what
- 47:16Speaker 6: you know, That's what I'm working on. And like I said,
- 47:18Speaker 6: you know, with this incubator program, different things like that,
- 47:21Speaker 6: I think we're gonna be that brand and everybody's gonna
- 47:23Speaker 6: want to support because they're gonna be at a take
- 47:25Speaker 6: over the ship.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Then let me ask before we wrap it up. I
- 47:27Speaker 2: just had a question.
- 47:28Speaker 5: They just passed the Safe according and passed the past
- 47:31Speaker 5: the person that Safe Thinking Act. So if anybody coind
- 47:35Speaker 5: of familiar the it still is a major problem because
- 47:39Speaker 5: marijuana is not legal on the federal level.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Even though it's legal, it's on sustain levels.
- 47:43Speaker 5: Right, So a lot of things, most things don't really
- 47:45Speaker 5: want to do business with marijuana company because it's a
- 47:48Speaker 5: great line they can get in trouble from the FETs.
- 47:50Speaker 3: Right.
- 47:51Speaker 5: How have you dealt with that as far as like
- 47:54Speaker 5: and what do you think the future? How do you
- 47:55Speaker 5: foresee the future in that, because that plays a major
- 47:58Speaker 5: part in my opinion because once the thanks.
- 47:59Speaker 6: Legal, that's kind of like you know, right that people
- 48:02Speaker 6: can get a loans potentially get into the space, but
- 48:06Speaker 6: not black people once again, because you know, we got
- 48:08Speaker 6: student loans and why it's gonna be tough or whatever.
- 48:11Speaker 2: But you know, when I first started, I had no banking.
- 48:14Speaker 6: Obviously, credit unions have come around, so every state I
- 48:19Speaker 6: bank with the credit union and then there's also a
- 48:21Speaker 6: third party company that I hope with also made pay
- 48:25Speaker 6: quick that they're pretty much like the middle man between
- 48:29Speaker 6: the producers and the bank, and they have a whole
- 48:33Speaker 6: you know, due diligence and a process that you know,
- 48:36Speaker 6: the banks, the credit unions are.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Comfortable with being able to bank. But you know the
- 48:41Speaker 2: banking is smart, like the credit unions, they making a
- 48:44Speaker 2: lot of money.
- 48:45Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying they charging twenty five hundred
- 48:47Speaker 6: dollars a month just to hold the bank account. You
- 48:50Speaker 6: know what I'm saying it let alone the fees on
- 48:52Speaker 6: all the money that actually comes in. So banks realize
- 48:55Speaker 6: it's a billion dollar opportunity for them too.
- 48:57Speaker 2: But it's just that the federal government as it ends,
- 49:02Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, that they could Yeah, that's dope, man.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Now we want anything else you want to talk about
- 49:08Speaker 2: you now, we want to thank you for coming in.
- 49:10Speaker 5: Also before we wrap it up, it's important, I think
- 49:12Speaker 5: for people with aid to follow that passion right because you,
- 49:14Speaker 5: like you said, you're you're passionate about this.
- 49:18Speaker 2: It's not just about the money. It's not even about
- 49:20Speaker 2: the money.
- 49:20Speaker 5: It's to help people, right, And I think that's one
- 49:23Speaker 5: of the biggest mistakes that people and even we've made
- 49:25Speaker 5: that mistakes in the Bath with the other things that
- 49:27Speaker 5: we were successful now with the podcast because we actually
- 49:30Speaker 5: like doing it.
- 49:31Speaker 2: We're passionate, but but we've done.
- 49:32Speaker 5: Stuff in the Bath well honestly just different money, and
- 49:35Speaker 5: it didn't work.
- 49:35Speaker 6: It never.
- 49:39Speaker 5: It's hard to wake up everyone and do something if
- 49:42Speaker 5: you don't really care about what you're doing, right, So
- 49:43Speaker 5: I think that that's encouraging. And then also it's very
- 49:46Speaker 5: important first impressions and work act it too, So I
- 49:50Speaker 5: would be talking off camera.
- 49:51Speaker 2: So if anybody followed the podcast, you know.
- 49:54Speaker 5: That I went to like eight different high schools in
- 49:57Speaker 5: high school with basketball, but I went to school in
- 49:59Speaker 5: Florida for a little bit at im G Academy.
- 50:02Speaker 2: So when I first met Al, this was.
- 50:04Speaker 5: Years ago, and he probably doesn't remember, but one thing
- 50:07Speaker 5: I always remember because he was in IMG training. He
- 50:09Speaker 5: was a professional, so I everybody's not familiar. IMG is
- 50:11Speaker 5: one of the top prep schools in the country. Actually
- 50:14Speaker 5: just won so they have they have pros that come
- 50:19Speaker 5: in as well, like football and basketball.
- 50:21Speaker 2: At the time. Yeah, so he was.
- 50:23Speaker 6: He was there.
- 50:23Speaker 5: He's one of the pros that was working out, and
- 50:26Speaker 5: we used to run pick up games every once in
- 50:28Speaker 5: a while. So I can't say I had a lot
- 50:29Speaker 5: of interactions with him. I had some interactions with with
- 50:31Speaker 5: some other people. Harold Jamison real good, Oh my god,
- 50:35Speaker 5: Harold James.
- 50:36Speaker 2: He's different. I've never getting them stories. Jamison. He's the
- 50:45Speaker 2: first person. So I missed my school box one day, right,
- 50:48Speaker 2: somebody He's like, what's to school here?
- 50:50Speaker 6: You wrong?
- 50:50Speaker 2: He had a drop top lesus and he had the
- 50:53Speaker 2: air conditioner on full blast. Well he had the air conditionings.
- 50:57Speaker 2: We got to the top then because it's cold, he's
- 50:59Speaker 2: gotten colder.
- 51:00Speaker 5: So he's the first person I've ever seen to have
- 51:02Speaker 5: a footballing air conditioning in the drop.
- 51:07Speaker 6: Now you know anything about Al Jamison, So when you
- 51:10Speaker 6: like he's sweat at the dropping like yeah, like dropping
- 51:14Speaker 6: hat bro So Like he was the type dude where
- 51:16Speaker 6: we used to work out.
- 51:17Speaker 2: Bro Like during the workout, he's had to always wipe
- 51:19Speaker 2: the court.
- 51:20Speaker 6: That something he'll go through an our workout, bro, no
- 51:23Speaker 6: bs our workout, he go through four teen shirts.
- 51:27Speaker 2: I always had weight issues, like, bro, how you overweight?
- 51:31Speaker 6: That's what if he was playing but heat at that
- 51:33Speaker 6: time and that's when they want to don't play with
- 51:34Speaker 6: the body fat and all that type of stuff.
- 51:36Speaker 2: But you got to have issues with his weight and
- 51:38Speaker 2: he used to sweat. I'm guaranteed he was dropping shout
- 51:43Speaker 2: wherever you are in the world right now, man, shout
- 51:45Speaker 2: out to you. But I was saying that. You know,
- 51:48Speaker 2: one thing I never forget is that you know how
- 51:50Speaker 2: he always worked hard.
- 51:51Speaker 5: He was a hard worker. Like I'm never the job
- 51:53Speaker 5: so that the head basketballs. He used to always reference him, like,
- 51:55Speaker 5: you see how how how hard I works.
- 51:58Speaker 2: You gotta work like that. That's how hard.
- 52:00Speaker 5: He always worked hard. And he always smiled like he
- 52:02Speaker 5: was never in a bat I never saw him in
- 52:03Speaker 5: the bat. Move boy had smile his pace, right. So
- 52:05Speaker 5: it's funny when people remember because I was fifteen years
- 52:07Speaker 5: ago and I still remember that, right. So I say
- 52:09Speaker 5: that to say, you never know how it's come full
- 52:11Speaker 5: circle now he's on our podcast, right, So it's important
- 52:14Speaker 5: to just be a good person, right and to set
- 52:17Speaker 5: that exam.
- 52:17Speaker 2: You never know who's watching you, exactly like reality, and
- 52:22Speaker 2: you never know when it could come back.
- 52:24Speaker 3: Right.
- 52:24Speaker 6: So I just always tell people, man, it's just so
- 52:27Speaker 6: much easy to be cool. Like it's so like it
- 52:30Speaker 6: takes no effort to be cool. It takes no effort.
- 52:33Speaker 6: Somebody go up in the room and give him a
- 52:34Speaker 6: D nine, takes no effort. You ain't got to go
- 52:37Speaker 6: out your way or nothing. Just acknowledge people just be cool.
- 52:40Speaker 6: And that's what I'm saying. Like I've never had no
- 52:43Speaker 6: issues no where I've been. You know what I'm saying.
- 52:44Speaker 6: I live in LA and people getting rods here in
- 52:47Speaker 6: New York. I'll never as security nothing Atlanta. I am,
- 52:52Speaker 6: y'all go anywhere I go, any hood I got because
- 52:54Speaker 6: I'm cool. Like it's just it is what it is,
- 52:56Speaker 6: like what's up? You know what I'm saying, I'm approaching
- 52:59Speaker 6: and it's just is It's like it takes effort to
- 53:01Speaker 6: be a jerk, you know what I'm saying. And you know,
- 53:04Speaker 6: for me, like I've had a lot of success that way,
- 53:06Speaker 6: and I took a little of the time like when people,
- 53:08Speaker 6: you know, I always asked me about, you know, different
- 53:10Speaker 6: things and like betting me. I'm like, you could vet
- 53:13Speaker 6: me with anybody knows, nobody walking the earth right down
- 53:17Speaker 6: that got anything bad.
- 53:18Speaker 2: To say about regular fear And you know my word
- 53:22Speaker 2: is my bonds. I said, do something period, keep it
- 53:26Speaker 2: calling clean, right, you got to keep you another one too,
- 53:29Speaker 2: charging Billups.
- 53:30Speaker 5: So he was down there too, and enough to get
- 53:32Speaker 5: my dad. So when my dad he took it, took
- 53:33Speaker 5: me to school and everybody knows what he's talking.
- 53:36Speaker 2: Billups, you know he is.
- 53:37Speaker 5: So he walked up to my dad and he introduced himself.
- 53:41Speaker 5: He's like, you know, I'm charging Bill Up. So my
- 53:43Speaker 5: dad is always impressed to this day, because it's like
- 53:45Speaker 5: he took the time to walk up to a stranger
- 53:46Speaker 5: that obviously knew who he.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Was, but he treated everybody the same.
- 53:50Speaker 5: Right, So I say that to say in business and
- 53:53Speaker 5: just in life in general, it's I think he's completely underrated.
- 53:56Speaker 2: It's just to be a good purson.
- 53:58Speaker 3: In addition to that, it's like, look at this sets
- 54:00Speaker 3: that the two individuals are saying, have had post and
- 54:03Speaker 3: there's no, it's no, they've treated people with respect.
- 54:07Speaker 2: And look at this said they had posts. You're right, right,
- 54:12Speaker 2: you're right.
- 54:12Speaker 5: So yeah, so do you have any initiatives or how
- 54:16Speaker 5: can people contact how can people contact viola website?
- 54:20Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 54:20Speaker 6: Yeah, well, I mean so we're about to So we

- 55:50Speaker 3: business and in real estate that can help everyone. So
