Richmond’s schools are getting a major upgrade—potentially through a one percent sales tax hike, with voters deciding in November. Mayor Danny Avula and Superintendent Jason Kamras are pushing for this funding to build new schools and fix aging ones, many over 100 years old. If approved, the tax increase could bring in $47.5 million annually by 2028, totaling up to $850 million for school projects by 2034.
