- 0:58Speaker 1: Oh, my God. I've only had one cup of coffee
- 1:05Speaker 1: this morning, but it feels like, for some reason, so
- 1:09Speaker 1: much more than that. Holy crap. I'm busy. I'm happy.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Frankly, I.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Don't think I've, you know, and I was thinking this morning,
- 1:22Speaker 1: I don't know, dude. I said to myself, I don't know, dude.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Except for saying, dude, if I've ever been busier in
- 1:34Speaker 1: my life, there is so much happening right now. There's
- 1:40Speaker 1: so much going on. Oh, my goodness. Jimsville, right here,
- 1:47Speaker 1: just this alone, is picking up so much steam. This
- 1:53Speaker 1: is going to be unbelievable. Unbelievable. October 15th through November 1st. Jimsville.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Everybody knows where this is. And if you don't, just
- 2:06Speaker 1: watch the page. We'll give you all the information that
- 2:10Speaker 1: you need to know about it. But it is going
- 2:12Speaker 1: to be fantastic. I cannot wait. For the month of October.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm so excited. September has never been.
- 2:25Speaker 1: The most amazing month for me.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'm just glad that it's October, and I'll say that.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yesterday was so beautiful, and this morning almost had a
- 2:43Speaker 1: tear in the eye coming in this morning because the fog,
- 2:47Speaker 1: the sun pushing through the fog with the foliage backdrop
- 2:53Speaker 1: and the pond... On 302. And there were people. Everybody
- 3:00Speaker 1: was going like 25. Maybe 30. It was just so beautiful.
- 3:07Speaker 1: My drive in this morning. And I almost pulled over.
- 3:15Speaker 1: To get a shot. I got some pictures yesterday. On
- 3:17Speaker 1: my drive. On the 20 stores in 20 days store.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I got several pictures, and I was just so blown
- 3:29Speaker 1: away by how beautiful it is out there. Listen, we
- 3:34Speaker 1: all know Vermont foliage is incredible. I don't know if
- 3:38Speaker 1: the last years, the last couple of years have, you know,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I don't know, drought, whatever, too much rain, not enough rain.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I don't know. But the last couple of years, it
- 3:50Speaker 1: seems like nowhere near as good as this year. It
- 3:56Speaker 1: is just spectacular. Listen, thanks for sharing your morning with me.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You've got the Aired Out podcast from Fly on the
- 4:03Speaker 1: Wall Productions live on North Main Street in Barrie. And
- 4:06Speaker 1: I'll show you what's happening out there in Barrie right now.
- 4:11Speaker 1: That's a live shot of North Main Street. There it is,
- 4:14Speaker 1: Nelson's Ace Hardware right across the street. They've got the
- 4:16Speaker 1: pumpkins right out front. And you can't really see too well,
- 4:22Speaker 1: but the window above Nelson right there, There's a kitty
- 4:27Speaker 1: cat in that window that stalks me almost every morning,
- 4:33Speaker 1: just sits there and stares at me right through, right
- 4:37Speaker 1: across North Main Street. I don't know the cat's name.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I'm going to need to find out at some point.
- 4:42Speaker 1: We're going to have to have a discussion about this.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Here is your Vermont road construction report this morning. And
- 4:50Speaker 1: we got some really exciting things to talk about this morning.
- 4:53Speaker 1: We also have some pretty heavy stuff that happened. absolutely
- 4:56Speaker 1: has to be said it will be said and it
- 4:59Speaker 1: will be said this morning uh on the air uh
- 5:02Speaker 1: Rex Thompson's going to be coming in too we're going
- 5:04Speaker 1: to be talking about the kingdom come MMA event is
- 5:09Speaker 1: that next not this coming weekend next it is it's
- 5:12Speaker 1: next weekend in Burlington uh road construction report um This morning,
- 5:19Speaker 1: I-89 continues to be a work zone from Bethel to Brookfield.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Barry has ongoing work on Route 14 and Hill Street.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Northfield has got a lane closure on Route 12. I
- 5:31Speaker 1: think most of you know that by now. I know
- 5:33Speaker 1: it's been a pain in the ass. And Route 100
- 5:36Speaker 1: in Bridgewater is back open but still has daily lane closures.
- 5:42Speaker 1: If you're headed toward Bennington, Route 7 closed until October 3rd.
- 5:48Speaker 1: for culvert work, just, you know, and the list goes on.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I mean, I'm hardly scratching the surface here. Just slow down,
- 5:56Speaker 1: watch the flaggers, give those highway crews plenty of room.
- 6:02Speaker 1: It is National Homemade Cookies Day today. Also National Pumpkin
- 6:09Speaker 1: Spice Day. One of, geez, most favorite holidays of all
- 6:15Speaker 1: of them today. And if you're into that, that's wonderful. Personally,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I'd rather have the cookies. I had some pumpkin spice
- 6:24Speaker 1: yesterday that there was something off about it, and I
- 6:31Speaker 1: don't know what it was. But, yeah, we've got 30
- 6:35Speaker 1: days until Halloween.
- 6:37Speaker 2: 30 days.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And at some point, and it might be tomorrow with G.,
- 6:44Speaker 1: I have to have a discussion with some of my
- 6:49Speaker 1: close friends about the dilemma that I'm dealing with. I
- 6:53Speaker 1: have a Halloween costume that I've purchased, I've picked out.
- 6:58Speaker 1: It's ready to go. And I put it on a
- 7:06Speaker 1: few days ago to show Sherilyn, my wife. And she
- 7:14Speaker 1: was not impressed at all. Didn't even crack a smile
- 7:19Speaker 1: and shook her head, closed her eyes and shook her head.
- 7:23Speaker 1: When you get the combination of both the eyes and
- 7:26Speaker 1: the shake, that's not good. This is what it was.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Dead serious. Words like, um, words like inappropriate were said
- 7:40Speaker 1: to me. Um, Words like absolutely not were said to me.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I don't know what to do. Do I just throw
- 7:55Speaker 1: it in the trash? I need to think and then
- 7:58Speaker 1: rethink this. And I'm going to ask G's advice tomorrow,
- 8:03Speaker 1: and I'll ask your advice too. I don't know. I
- 8:08Speaker 1: even said to Sherilyn, I'm like, you know what, I'm
- 8:10Speaker 1: going to put it on and go in the air.
- 8:11Speaker 1: And she's like, don't do that. You're really going to
- 8:15Speaker 1: upset people. Really? I need to talk with some folks
- 8:22Speaker 1: about this. I'm going to consult with some of the
- 8:27Speaker 1: top-tier friends that I have about whether or not I
- 8:30Speaker 1: can do this, whether or not it's fun, funny, light,
- 8:36Speaker 1: or totally inappropriate and offensive. But yeah, 30 days to Halloween.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Birthdays today, October 1st. And I've got some birthdays. But first,
- 8:50Speaker 1: before I even get into the birthdays, I want to
- 8:55Speaker 1: apologize to some great friends that celebrated birthdays yesterday. And
- 9:02Speaker 1: I forgot about them. I mean, I just completely skipped
- 9:06Speaker 1: over the birthdays yesterday. Rex Thompson. Rex Thompson was one
- 9:14Speaker 1: of them. I don't know how old Rex is, but
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm very disappointed in myself that I allowed that one
- 9:23Speaker 1: to slip by me. And Sherilyn says to me last night,
- 9:27Speaker 1: sitting on the couch, she's like, are you serious? It
- 9:30Speaker 1: was Rex's birthday? And you forgot to talk about it
- 9:33Speaker 1: on the air? And I'm I'm like, babe, sorry, busy.
- 9:39Speaker 1: And she's like, no excuse. That's Rex. You might get punched.
- 9:44Speaker 1: And it was already B's birthday yesterday. Forgot that one too.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I mean, these are two guys who could really put,
- 9:54Speaker 1: the beating on me bad. And I just want to apologize.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Birthdays today, we have Katie Bug, who's on the list today.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Carol Chase. Shirley Houghton. Cody LaPlante. David Hurley. Chris Hood.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Linda Kelly with an EY. Phillip Hyde. Karen Ring, all
- 10:19Speaker 1: celebrating birthdays today. Randy Quaid is 76. That's Dennis's crazy brother.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Julie Andrews, 91 years old today. Mark McGuire, 63. Those
- 10:32Speaker 1: are all the birthdays. We're at 55 right now. We
- 10:34Speaker 1: have clouds and 75 degrees today. It's going to be
- 10:37Speaker 1: really nice. I'll take that. Get out and snap some
- 10:40Speaker 1: pictures of the foliage. Watch out for the Massachusetts license plates.
- 10:44Speaker 1: They're everywhere. Tonight, cloudy, 65. Friday, tomorrow, rain, but near 70.
- 10:52Speaker 1: So real nice. Saturday, sunshine at 62. Great weather no
- 10:57Speaker 1: matter where you are, what you're doing. Craft fairs, Thunder Road,
- 11:00Speaker 1: Milk Bowl, whatever. Sunday, for the Milk Bowl, sun and
- 11:04Speaker 1: clouds and 65 degrees.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Sorry, Rex.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I'm really, no, I'm serious.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Dude, I forgot my birthday, too. My wife woke me
- 11:12Speaker 2: up and reminded me.
- 11:13Speaker 1: No, you didn't.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Dude, I date, like, my days just go into each other.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I just, I couldn't believe it. Last night, I'm like, oh,
- 11:20Speaker 1: my God. It was Rex's birthday. Did you do anything
- 11:25Speaker 1: special for the birthday? Run around the backyard naked or
- 11:29Speaker 1: anything like that? No.
- 11:31Speaker 4: No?
- 11:31Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Made myself a cake.
- 11:34Speaker 1: You did?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, dude. You know, I get into those. Was it
- 11:38Speaker 2: gluten free? Uh, no, most of the time I do
- 11:41Speaker 2: eat gluten free cause gluten really fucks my stomach up.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Um, so you have gas, but I do, I do the, uh, no,
- 11:48Speaker 2: I don't.
- 11:48Speaker 1: All right.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Um, but I do, what is it like a pound
- 11:53Speaker 2: cake or whatever they call it that you put to
- 11:55Speaker 2: do in a crock pot. So I tried a lemon
- 11:57Speaker 2: cake and cherry and little, uh, And cherries.
- 12:01Speaker 1: How'd that come out?
- 12:02Speaker 2: Pretty good, man.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Really?
- 12:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I experiment with apple. Well, apple and spice
- 12:08Speaker 2: cake is how we started it.
- 12:09Speaker 1: You experiment with a lot of things.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Now I do blueberries. I do cherries. I love them.
- 12:13Speaker 2: They're easy, easy. You put them in the crock pot.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 2: You dump your filling in there. Dump your cake mix
- 12:18Speaker 2: on top. Put little slices of butter all over it.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Put it on low for four hours. Put a paper
- 12:23Speaker 2: towel in there.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:25Speaker 2: So that it catches the condensation from the top of the.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Oh.
- 12:28Speaker 3: And.
- 12:30Speaker 2: In four hours, you'll have a cake.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Now, is this like typical male, cut corners, do it
- 12:35Speaker 1: quick and easy type stuff, lazy?
- 12:37Speaker 2: No, that's just fat kid really wants a dessert that's
- 12:40Speaker 2: not hard to make. I can't bake. Okay. I don't
- 12:42Speaker 2: bake worth shit.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:44Speaker 2: But I can throw that in a crock pot.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Dude, we have a lot to get to this morning.
- 12:54Speaker 1: At around 930 or so, 930, 940, somewhere in there,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I've got a student from Montpelier High School who's supposed
- 13:01Speaker 1: to be calling in.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Oh, nice.
- 13:03Speaker 1: To talk about the Montpelier Festival. A fall festival coming up.
- 13:06Speaker 2: You do know that Montpeliers are rivals, right?
- 13:12Speaker 1: It's a fall festival, Rex.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Yeah, but we're Barry. We're Barry, bro. The Montpelierites.
- 13:18Speaker 1: It's a fall festival, Rex.
- 13:20Speaker 2: No, you're a traitor, man. You're a traitor to your community.
- 13:24Speaker 1: 2,000 people there last year.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Reaching out to people in Montpelier. That would have got
- 13:28Speaker 2: your ass beat back in the day. It was a
- 13:30Speaker 2: big deal last year, man. And now they've got the students.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Remember the M & M gang? Were you ever around
- 13:37Speaker 2: for them?
- 13:38Speaker 3: No.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, they used to hang out at M &
- 13:40Speaker 2: M Beverage up in Montpelier, the M & M gang.
- 13:45Speaker 1: You talking 80s here?
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I am, actually.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I forget how long ago that was. Let me pull
- 13:51Speaker 1: out my glasses. We have to talk about Kingdom Come.
- 13:53Speaker 1: It's almost here. Fight fans are ready for it. October 10th,
- 13:57Speaker 1: Doubletree Hotel in South Burlington. Get your tickets, Donnybrookfightpromotions.com.
- 14:02Speaker 2: A lot of big things going on.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Big fight card VIP tables available?
- 14:08Speaker 4: Yep.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and so they have that PayPal option. They don't
- 14:12Speaker 2: have to pay for it all up front. PayPal allows
- 14:14Speaker 2: them to make payments on their VIP tables and stuff.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Wow.
- 14:18Speaker 2: So people can get in there, and they don't have
- 14:20Speaker 2: to have the whole $ 600 up front.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but if you get a bunch of friends together.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, it ain't bad. It's $ 100 each.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right up close. I mean, right up.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Ringside.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Ringside.
- 14:31Speaker 2: When I say ringside, because we do all of our
- 14:33Speaker 2: fights inside of a five-rope rig.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Crazy.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Well, it's not crazy, because Scott Coker, who used to
- 14:40Speaker 2: own Bellator and Strikeforce, just started a new promotion called
- 14:44Speaker 2: K1 MMA.
- 14:45Speaker 1: All right.
- 14:46Speaker 2: And they're doing... hybrid cards, just like us, inside of
- 14:51Speaker 2: a boxing ring. So the cool thing is, is we
- 14:53Speaker 2: use the Sanctioning Body International Sports Karate Association, ISKA. That's
- 14:58Speaker 2: where UFC ref Kevin McDonald, Dan Mergliotti, all of those
- 15:03Speaker 2: guys come from. So ISKA did all the sanctioning for
- 15:08Speaker 2: Scott Coker when he owned Bellator and Strikeforce. So Corey Schaefer,
- 15:13Speaker 2: the head of ISKA, went down to New York City
- 15:17Speaker 2: when he announced the promotion. So you're like, well, why
- 15:21Speaker 2: the fuck are you talking about Scott Coker and his promotion.
- 15:25Speaker 1: When we're Donnybrook?
- 15:27Speaker 2: Well, the reason is because that opened up opportunities for
- 15:31Speaker 2: our fighters to be feeders from our promotion to Scott
- 15:38Speaker 2: Coker's new professional promotion. That's going to rival one in
- 15:41Speaker 2: the UFC. Okay.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Yep.
- 15:44Speaker 2: So there'll be another big platform for people, for fighters
- 15:47Speaker 2: to have that access for a professional.
- 15:49Speaker 1: This is sweeping New England, man. I mean, this is really.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Yeah, we've been looking at other states again because our
- 15:56Speaker 2: lawsuit in New York is coming to the end. I
- 15:59Speaker 2: think we're going to settle on that one. So we're
- 16:02Speaker 2: looking into other states and adding more cards. We just
- 16:07Speaker 2: hired a professional matchmaker out of Canada. We hired a
- 16:10Speaker 2: professional matchmaker out of, New England, actually the East Coast.
- 16:14Speaker 2: So as long as we can have fight cards, you know,
- 16:17Speaker 2: we have anywhere from seven to ten fights, we can
- 16:19Speaker 2: do fight cards in any area. We have a professional
- 16:22Speaker 2: ring crew now. It was a huge, like, moving to
- 16:26Speaker 2: Burlington was a big, big, big jump for us.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I was just About to say that.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Bigger sponsors, more fans. You got the Army National Guard involved.
- 16:39Speaker 2: We have the Army National Guard, the Air National Guard. So.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Burlington's a big population, man. I mean, and you guys
- 16:47Speaker 1: are it in Burlington.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah, we're right at the Doubletree in Burlington.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I mean, you guys are it in Chittenden County. I mean, that's.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Vermont.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yes. Vermont. I shouldn't say Chittenden County. The whole state.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I mean, that's it right there.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Yeah, 100%.
- 17:07Speaker 1: So you're pulling in fighters from where now? New York.
- 17:10Speaker 2: New Hampshire, Maine, New York, Montreal.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Mass.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Mass.
- 17:16Speaker 2: We've flown in fighters from Texas before. Yeah, we get
- 17:20Speaker 2: fighters from all over the place. The other thing that
- 17:23Speaker 2: we're adding on to our January card that's going to
- 17:27Speaker 2: be at the Doubletree.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Is going to feature a professional bare-knuckle kickboxing fight. Oh, shit. Yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 2: we've already got the opponents. We'll probably announce it at
- 17:36Speaker 2: this show.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Wow.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Wow.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Fantastic.
- 17:41Speaker 2: We're going to do it for this show, but we
- 17:42Speaker 2: want to be able to advertise the shit out of it.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Well, listen, we're going to talk more about that this morning.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Oh, and those people that want to get onto there,
- 17:52Speaker 2: the rooms, I know you're going to make your phone call. No, no, no.
- 17:57Speaker 2: If you want to come from Barry... And go up there.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Go ahead. Call ahead. Get a room. And the Doubletree
- 18:04Speaker 2: is doing a deal of $ 144 a night. That's tax title, everything. Okay.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Instead of $ 500. It's a beautiful place.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Wow.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 1: So you can get up there, relax, have a couple
- 18:17Speaker 1: of bevs.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's inside of a hotel. So you can
- 18:20Speaker 2: walk around with your drinks. You can bring your drinks
- 18:22Speaker 2: to your room. Everything.
- 18:24Speaker 3: What?
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:25Speaker 1: You can walk around with an open market. Right.
- 18:29Speaker 2: I know, like, Jesus. Oh, my God, an adult having
- 18:32Speaker 2: an adult beverage.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And you can have an adult beverage in your hand
- 18:38Speaker 1: and scream, punch him in the face!
- 18:42Speaker 2: That you can. That you can.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Just don't spill it on you.
- 18:45Speaker 2: That's right.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Remember when I spilled the coffee all over that?
- 18:48Speaker 2: I was just watching that video the other day. It
- 18:50Speaker 2: popped up on my timeline as a past memory. It
- 18:54Speaker 2: was a lot of fun.
- 18:55Speaker 1: It was a lot of fun.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:58Speaker 1: You know, and I've had people say to me, J.D.,
- 19:00Speaker 1: did you burn yourself?
- 19:03Speaker 2: Hey, I want to give a shout out to the
- 19:07Speaker 2: drug dealers on Brooklyn Street. They just got a new
- 19:09Speaker 2: shipment of Fetty in. Really? Yeah, they call it Fetty.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I'm trying to get with the lingo. So it's pure
- 19:15Speaker 2: raw fentanyl they're smoking now. It's really cool because they're
- 19:20Speaker 2: delivering down the road to the other guy, the single dad.
- 19:22Speaker 2: This is a shout out to the single dad. We
- 19:24Speaker 2: saw you get the delivery. Hey, make sure your son's
- 19:26Speaker 2: not around when you overdose. The single dad that got
- 19:30Speaker 2: the delivery of the fentanyl just down the road. We
- 19:32Speaker 2: see everything.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Did you say Brooklyn Street?
- 19:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Brooklyn Street. They just got a huge pile of fentanyl.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Is that Brooklyn Street in Barrie?
- 19:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Brooklyn Street. Yep.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Brooklyn Street. Yeah, you just go down the road there.
- 19:46Speaker 2: You'll find it.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Brooklyn?
- 19:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a nice little trap house. Matter of fact,
- 19:50Speaker 2: the landlord knows all about it, and she still won't
- 19:53Speaker 2: do anything about it.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Brooklyn Street?
- 19:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Maybe she's watching.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Have you guys reached out?
- 20:03Speaker 2: I should have got some for my birthday.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Smoking a little fentanyl, running through the woods, screaming, being crazy.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Looks like good times. Not everybody can understand that.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Sarcasm?
- 20:21Speaker 1: You're being sarcastic. I want to... Have you reached out
- 20:31Speaker 1: to the police?
- 20:32Speaker 2: I have nothing to do with nothing. I'm not in
- 20:35Speaker 2: Berry City. We got a cease and desist letter from
- 20:37Speaker 2: the city of Barry about our nonprofit. So we're really
- 20:41Speaker 2: trying to just stay away from Barry. Barry doesn't want
- 20:44Speaker 2: things like that around here. So we, you know, whatever
- 20:48Speaker 2: the people on Brooklyn street, I go down there and I, I,
- 20:51Speaker 2: I spar and train with Ed Collins being him. Sometimes
- 20:54Speaker 2: we have the kids down there and we train and stuff,
- 20:56Speaker 2: but now I really, you know, that whole thing with
- 21:00Speaker 2: how they, you know, Nick Coppings, the building inspector, uh,
- 21:04Speaker 2: who's already been in trouble once. I mean, the city
- 21:07Speaker 2: got sued once for $ 250, 000 because he was doing shitty things.
- 21:11Speaker 2: The lady went and complained. And the city did nothing
- 21:14Speaker 2: about it. And this is kind of a similar situation.
- 21:17Speaker 2: We went to the city. We complained to the city
- 21:19Speaker 2: about Nick Coppings doing this shit. I know for a
- 21:22Speaker 2: fact he has a bunch of complaints that never got filed.
- 21:26Speaker 2: And now he's in the running to be the assistant
- 21:30Speaker 2: fire chief. That's all the city does. They never address
- 21:33Speaker 2: their problems. And they sweep them under the table. And
- 21:36Speaker 2: I'm not going to go away. I'm telling you that
- 21:38Speaker 2: right now. So, I mean, we just became federally recognized.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And it's just the city of Barry, they can say
- 21:49Speaker 2: whatever they want. But I think they need the drugs
- 21:53Speaker 2: in this town in order to continue their funding. When
- 21:57Speaker 2: you've got a lot of big drug problems, that's a
- 21:59Speaker 2: lot of federal money, man. Why would you want to
- 22:01Speaker 2: take that federal money away? Why would you? You know,
- 22:04Speaker 2: everybody talks about big pharmaceutical. Why would you cure the
- 22:07Speaker 2: problem when you got all this money flowing in?
- 22:10Speaker 1: Right? Well, you're on fire this morning.
- 22:12Speaker 3: I am.
- 22:12Speaker 2: That really irked me.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Wow.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Because I was talking with city council members, and city
- 22:17Speaker 2: council members promised me, said that guy resigned, and that
- 22:21Speaker 2: he was forced to resign. They lied to me to
- 22:24Speaker 2: get me to stop that fucking complaint. Hmm.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Are you going to shut your ringer off or am
- 22:30Speaker 1: I going to have to come over there and put
- 22:33Speaker 1: you in an ankle lock?
- 22:34Speaker 2: And it's a telemarketer. So what they did is I
- 22:39Speaker 2: filed a complaint. They ignored the complaints. I've asked for
- 22:43Speaker 2: several things. I've asked for a complaint in his jacket.
- 22:46Speaker 2: And instead of that, they're looking to promote him to
- 22:50Speaker 2: assistant fire chief. Once again, this is a very similar
- 22:55Speaker 2: situation to what they did with Rachel Wyatt.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:58Speaker 2: And I mean, I guess the city didn't learn their
- 23:00Speaker 2: lesson the first time. So they want to keep these
- 23:03Speaker 2: people around. They want to drive things out of the city.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I mean, look at the city. What do you have
- 23:08Speaker 2: going on?
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Drugs.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Got a lot of federal funds for homeless and money
- 23:14Speaker 2: to fight drugs, right? And how do I know about
- 23:16Speaker 2: the drug war? Because I was fighting the drug war
- 23:18Speaker 2: in Central America in 1993. And guess what's changed? More
- 23:23Speaker 2: federal money to fight the drugs.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:26Speaker 2: You can wonder why we're never going to solve that problem.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You're, you're, you're, you're, you're being very, very sarcastic.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Very sarcastic.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I don't, you're like, you're not meaning this literally that,
- 23:46Speaker 1: that the city wants. No, no, no.
- 23:50Speaker 2: But I mean, what, what is the motivation to solve
- 23:53Speaker 2: the problem?
- 23:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Are they going to get more money if they solve
- 23:57Speaker 2: the problem? If they solve the problem and the streets
- 23:59Speaker 2: were clean, how many officers would we need? All right.
- 24:03Speaker 2: You'd have to cut the force. I mean, think about it, though.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:08Speaker 2: What is the motivation to stop it?
- 24:11Speaker 1: Listen, I got a lot of stuff that I need
- 24:14Speaker 1: to get to. Go ahead.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I just came in here just out of shits and giggles.
- 24:19Speaker 2: I was going by me and Athena.
- 24:21Speaker 1: How's Athena today?
- 24:22Speaker 2: Athena's doing... She's a little nervous.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Wound up. Look at her. Plainfield Fire and Rescue is
- 24:33Speaker 1: wanting to let everyone know that they're doing a hazmat
- 24:37Speaker 1: training drill October 3rd. That's Saturday at the rec field
- 24:43Speaker 1: in Plainfield. There's going to be a very large... presence
- 24:49Speaker 1: of firefighters, fire trucks, emergency personnel, due to all hazards
- 24:57Speaker 1: on our roads. This is a must training. I'm reading
- 25:02Speaker 1: here from the Plainfield People Facebook page. So we can
- 25:07Speaker 1: keep our community safe. Feel free to come and observe,
- 25:13Speaker 1: but everyone will have to stay in the upper parking
- 25:16Speaker 1: lot so that we can complete our exercise. I'm going
- 25:20Speaker 1: to show you the graphic that has really popped everywhere
- 25:31Speaker 1: on social media. I'm sure you've seen this. If you haven't,
- 25:37Speaker 1: you are now. But there it is. Plainfield Fire and
- 25:42Speaker 1: Rescue doing this, along with Fast Squad, Berlin Fire Department, Marshfield, Cabot, Woodbury,
- 25:50Speaker 1: Woodbury Fast Squad, Vermont Hazmat Team, Cabot, East Montpelier Plainfield,
- 25:56Speaker 1: Vermont State Police, Washington County Sheriff's Office. They're all going
- 26:02Speaker 1: to be there. Saturday, this coming Saturday. Now, listen, don't
- 26:12Speaker 1: get too ticked off by what I'm about to say.
- 26:16Speaker 1: But man, this is like peak foliage, root two, tons
- 26:25Speaker 1: of leaf peepers, craft fairs, autumn festivals, pumpkin patches, apple picking, parades,
- 26:34Speaker 1: the list goes on. I mean, there's a ton of
- 26:37Speaker 1: stuff that's happening. I'm not sure if it had to
- 26:43Speaker 1: be Saturday the 3rd, but.
- 26:47Speaker 2: It is.
- 26:49Speaker 1: And this is a really busy time of year where
- 26:53Speaker 1: things can get pretty, uh, congested on the roads. We
- 26:59Speaker 1: got construction going on. We got, Oh my God. But anyway,
- 27:03Speaker 1: it's happening. So there it is. Don't panic when you see, um,
- 27:10Speaker 1: all of the chaos that's unfolding there. It's all part
- 27:12Speaker 1: of their training. So I wanted to say that. We're
- 27:19Speaker 1: also going to be, at some point, I promise you,
- 27:23Speaker 1: going to be talking about the... Well, let's do it
- 27:26Speaker 1: right now, Rex. Yeah. The 20 Stores in 20 Days Tour,
- 27:31Speaker 1: which is.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Let's get positive here this morning. This thing has... kicked
- 27:39Speaker 1: my ass. It has taken off. I'm visiting 20 Vermont
- 27:44Speaker 1: country stores in 20 days.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Oh, no shit.
- 27:50Speaker 1: And putting on an insane amount of mileage under the
- 27:56Speaker 1: tires at whatever it is per gallon right now. So
- 28:00Speaker 1: this is not... I'm traveling. This is not going to
- 28:03Speaker 1: be a cheap endeavor. I'm moving. I'm going from way
- 28:07Speaker 1: up north to I'm not sure how far south I'm
- 28:11Speaker 1: going to go.
- 28:11Speaker 2: I've gone to some really cool old country stores in Vermont.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Oh, hell yeah, man. I mean, it is really incredible.
- 28:20Speaker 2: And I mean, you go to other states, they try
- 28:22Speaker 2: to mimic that with like commercial old town, whatever. Yeah.
- 28:27Speaker 2: But it's cool to go to a real, like the Plainfield.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Plainfield.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Plainfield. I'm sad that they stopped making sandwiches.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 1: You know, a few of them have, um, Willie's is
- 28:43Speaker 1: another one. They're just, I mean, they're.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Selling country stores have the best deli.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I know man, huge grinder. Some, some of them have
- 28:52Speaker 1: are just selling meat. Um, and have not stopped making sandwiches.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Some of these, a lot of these stores, I would
- 29:00Speaker 1: say most of them have really adapted to the times. Um,
- 29:06Speaker 1: since covid but also just a sign of the the
- 29:11Speaker 1: current economy i mean can you imagine owning any country
- 29:15Speaker 1: store anywhere in new england it's it's a big deal
- 29:20Speaker 1: man it's it's a tall order there's uh there's no
- 29:24Speaker 1: one that owns these stores who's filthy rich i'll say that.
- 29:28Speaker 2: No i just remember like the little store the graniteville
- 29:32Speaker 2: general store next to us and um I remember when
- 29:34Speaker 2: old Lyle owned that store and he never wanted to sell,
- 29:37Speaker 2: never wanted to sell. yeah and then um look it
- 29:41Speaker 2: might have been the subprime market or something but these
- 29:44Speaker 2: people came in they're like will you sell he's like
- 29:46Speaker 2: no i you know i got upstairs i live they're
- 29:48Speaker 2: like we'll give you 700 000 he's like sold he's
- 29:52Speaker 2: like i'll sell it to you right now and they
- 29:54Speaker 2: overpriced they overpaid for it ended up foreclosing And all
- 29:58Speaker 2: that stuff. Because Lyle did good. He did meat cutting.
- 30:04Speaker 2: He lived upstairs. He owned everything. He didn't owe anybody anything.
- 30:09Speaker 2: So it's hard to start a business with a nut
- 30:12Speaker 2: that big. Those country stores are country stores because somebody's
- 30:16Speaker 2: family worked years to pay off all the debt so
- 30:19Speaker 2: they could start actually making something.
- 30:21Speaker 1: That's exactly it, man. Not the case for every store.
- 30:26Speaker 1: But certainly the case is.
- 30:27Speaker 2: You're not walking in and investing a million dollars into
- 30:31Speaker 2: a country store and hoping to pay that debt off
- 30:36Speaker 2: before you die.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 30:38Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Because as soon as you
- 30:40Speaker 2: buy it, That's when your cooler is going to shit
- 30:42Speaker 2: the bed. Right. That's when the old floors are going
- 30:47Speaker 2: to cave in. There's always upkeep to old country stores.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Or the fire marshal is going to come in for.
- 30:52Speaker 2: A cup of coffee. Oh, yeah, new building. Yeah. Oh,
- 30:55Speaker 2: I notice you don't have a handicap ramp out there.
- 30:58Speaker 2: We need one of them in place.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Well, there's a $ 15, 000 add-on.
- 31:02Speaker 1: You know, these families, so many stores have had families
- 31:08Speaker 1: that it is– The store has stayed in the family
- 31:10Speaker 1: for several generations.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Like the Paxman store on Corey Hill. Now it's Harrington's.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Used to be Paxman's for years. Keith Paxman and his family.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Great creamies.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and then Dwayne Tucker's family owned it after the Paxman's.
- 31:25Speaker 2: And they got, I think they've got Mr. Z's Pizza
- 31:27Speaker 2: up there, don't they? Yeah, they do. Yeah. Yeah, they do. Oh, no,
- 31:33Speaker 2: you got to order them. You got to call ahead
- 31:35Speaker 2: and order them. I forgot about that.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:37Speaker 1: That's definitely going to be pizza night. I, you know, I,
- 31:39Speaker 1: I basically said to my followers, Hey, I want to
- 31:44Speaker 1: go visit some country stores. Which ones should I visit?
- 31:49Speaker 1: And right away I had 50. And then I was like,
- 31:52Speaker 1: I got to trim this down to 20 if I can. Yeah.
- 31:56Speaker 1: And even that is. It's crazy.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Even going like I've traveled. Cause I train at United
- 32:01Speaker 2: fighting arts Institute up in Burlington. And so, um, Even that,
- 32:06Speaker 2: because I had tried a one-ton truck. So I ride
- 32:09Speaker 2: with Caitlin O'Neill. We try to carpool.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Because she's got a small car, so, you know, 20,
- 32:16Speaker 2: 30 bucks, we could fill her car. She's badass, by
- 32:18Speaker 2: the way. Versus 100, you know. Yeah, she's cool as shit, man.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Badass.
- 32:23Speaker 2: She really, really is. She's just the... most awkward, dry
- 32:28Speaker 2: sense of humor make you laugh your ass off?
- 32:31Speaker 1: So listen, I got my list trimmed down to 20.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Some of them are pretty far south. Some of them
- 32:40Speaker 1: are pretty into the Northeast Kingdom. But I got to
- 32:45Speaker 1: tell you, and I've heard.
- 32:51Speaker 1: You got to go to this story. You got to
- 32:53Speaker 1: go to that story. You got to go to this story.
- 32:54Speaker 1: You got to go... I mean, how could you skip
- 32:58Speaker 1: this one? Right. So basically what I'm doing is I'm
- 33:03Speaker 1: going to hit them all. I'm going to hit 20,
- 33:07Speaker 1: and then every day is going to be a surprise
- 33:10Speaker 1: store that's going to land on the Aired Out page.
- 33:14Speaker 1: So I'm not going to tell you ahead of time
- 33:16Speaker 1: what store it's going to be. You just got to
- 33:18Speaker 1: tune in and see what store it is.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Dudley's.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Could be on the list. I had a lot of
- 33:25Speaker 1: people say, you've got to go to Dudley's.
- 33:28Speaker 2: It's too close to home.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Gramps.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Is it called Gramps?
- 33:32Speaker 1: Gramps. Up on Route 25.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:34Speaker 1: There's Waits River.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:36Speaker 1: There's East Corinth General.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Yeah, there's Groton down the other.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Groton.
- 33:40Speaker 2: The other way.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Groton, the grill.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Great place, man.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that's a good little, what is it,
- 33:47Speaker 2: that little diner there.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Yeah, the Groton.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I like eating there.
- 33:52Speaker 1: What is it, Upper Valley Grill?
- 33:53Speaker 2: That's not really a country store. You want to go
- 33:55Speaker 2: to a country store where you walk down one aisle,
- 33:58Speaker 2: there's winter boots, cowboy boots. The next aisle is groceries.
- 34:03Speaker 2: The next aisle is fish and tackle.
- 34:05Speaker 1: But those boots, they have to have a little tiny
- 34:11Speaker 1: bit of dust on them.
- 34:13Speaker 4: Yes.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, absolutely. They were bought on sale in the 1950s,
- 34:19Speaker 2: and they're still sitting there. It's the same thing with
- 34:21Speaker 2: the fishing supplies.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Yes!
- 34:24Speaker 2: It's the same thing. You grab an old dusty bobber
- 34:27Speaker 2: because you forgot yours.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Dusty bobber. Oh, my God. You know, here's the thing.
- 34:37Speaker 1: You know, when you walk through the doors of these.
- 34:44Speaker 2: The crooked doors with the floor that's leaning all the
- 34:48Speaker 2: way to one side.
- 34:49Speaker 1: The floor is crooked. The floor is old. It's original.
- 34:54Speaker 1: The little bell rings on the door. The little bell
- 34:57Speaker 1: rings on the door when you walk in.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Yeah, because Grandpa's in the back probably reading a comic
- 35:02Speaker 2: book or something.
- 35:03Speaker 1: And when you walk through the doors, people look up.
- 35:06Speaker 1: They look and see who's coming in right now. Do
- 35:09Speaker 1: I know this guy?
- 35:09Speaker 2: They take their nose out of the paper just long
- 35:12Speaker 2: enough to see who's coming in.
- 35:15Speaker 1: The thing I love so much about visiting these stores, Rex,
- 35:20Speaker 1: is that, you know, Nine out of ten country stores
- 35:26Speaker 1: that you go to, there's no cell service. No. The
- 35:31Speaker 1: way that you communicate with people is this way.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Face-to-face, yep.
- 35:38Speaker 1: You don't see a lot of heads-down texting when you're
- 35:42Speaker 1: in country stores.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Nope.
- 35:44Speaker 1: You see... People looking at each other, talking to each other. Hey,
- 35:48Speaker 1: did you hear about... Yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 2: The country store is where you get all the information
- 35:53Speaker 2: of the town.
- 35:54Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 35:54Speaker 2: All the rumors. Who's sleeping with who? Who beat up who?
- 35:59Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 35:59Speaker 1: It's everything.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Oh, do you hear so-and-so's roof's leaking?
- 36:02Speaker 1: Did you hear that they wrecked their truck last night?
- 36:04Speaker 2: Yes. Yeah.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Went right over the bank. Is he all right? Yeah,
- 36:07Speaker 1: he's all right. Did you call the police? No. Right.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Was he drinking?
- 36:11Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Yeah. That's a good old.
- 36:15Speaker 1: You OK, though? Yeah, he's all right. Walked home, stumbled, stumbled,
- 36:19Speaker 1: stumbled home. I mean, but you get the gossip, but
- 36:22Speaker 1: you also get a lot of old guys sitting around
- 36:25Speaker 1: the wood stove or whatever, sipping coffee, trying to solve
- 36:28Speaker 1: the world's problems.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to watch out for them guys in
- 36:31Speaker 2: the politics. You got to watch out, especially if you're
- 36:33Speaker 2: in a hurry. You cannot because they're.
- 36:38Speaker 1: How many times have you walked into a country store?
- 36:41Speaker 1: You're late. You've got to move.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Well, you know I'm a social butterfly anyway.
- 36:45Speaker 1: But you were late before you walked into the country store,
- 36:49Speaker 1: and now you're much later because you haven't seen this
- 36:53Speaker 1: neighbor or this friend for a long time, and you're
- 36:55Speaker 1: getting caught up.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Well, that's like I was with Caitlyn Tuesday night. I've
- 37:00Speaker 2: got to tell you a funny story. And so Caitlyn...
- 37:04Speaker 2: She's like, I haven't eaten today. Do you mind if
- 37:06Speaker 2: we go to McDonald's after we get, I said, all right,
- 37:09Speaker 2: long as this is the only time, you know, once
- 37:10Speaker 2: a week is fine. If you want to go, I'm
- 37:13Speaker 2: not a huge McDonald's fan because it, it really messes
- 37:16Speaker 2: with my stomach. But anyway, so we go to McDonald's
- 37:20Speaker 2: after training up at UFA. I hopefully crew and Deb
- 37:23Speaker 2: didn't hear me say that. Um, but we went to
- 37:26Speaker 2: McDonald's afterwards.
- 37:28Speaker 1: There's the soundbite. Taylor clipped that out right there. Rex
- 37:33Speaker 1: Thompson saying, We went to McDonald's after training at UFAI.
- 37:38Speaker 2: So we were in there, and my wife's sending me messages,
- 37:42Speaker 2: and she's like, well, why didn't you go through the drive-thru?
- 37:44Speaker 2: I was like, well, I'm blind. It's at night. I
- 37:47Speaker 2: can't see at night, and I'm not going to eat
- 37:48Speaker 2: a meal and try to drive home. Just not going
- 37:51Speaker 2: to do it. Yeah, yeah. So she goes, okay, well,
- 37:54Speaker 2: what's taking so long? I was like, you don't understand.
- 37:58Speaker 2: We were getting ready to leave.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:00Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, Humpty Dumpty's wife... started
- 38:05Speaker 2: screaming at the manager. I mean, you cannot leave McDonald's
- 38:11Speaker 2: with a patron screaming at the, I mean, everybody that
- 38:15Speaker 2: was getting ready to leave just slowly sat down.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Yeah, especially if Humpty Dumpty's involved.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, when she finally got all done her tantrum,
- 38:25Speaker 2: and I'm thinking to myself, like, what's the most expensive
- 38:29Speaker 2: thing in here?
- 38:29Speaker 1: A $ 9 hamburger?
- 38:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:31Speaker 2: This is what you're losing your mind over.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Is a hamburger.
- 38:35Speaker 2: And they gave you all your money back and let
- 38:36Speaker 2: you keep the food. Now you've screamed. You've asked the
- 38:39Speaker 2: district manager. They called the district manager. Everybody told you
- 38:43Speaker 2: to get the F out of the store.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 2: So she finally leaves. And I walked up there and
- 38:50Speaker 2: I laughed and I said, well, you guys really pissed
- 38:52Speaker 2: off that egg with legs, didn't you? Humpty Dumpty's wife
- 38:58Speaker 2: is pissed. Oh, she was mad. And I don't know
- 39:01Speaker 2: what it was. I don't know. Forgot the pickles or something.
- 39:04Speaker 2: But she was absolutely irate in that place. So, yeah.
- 39:10Speaker 1: You think I look like an egg with legs? No.
- 39:13Speaker 3: No.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 39:14Speaker 1: You're more round from top to bottom.
- 39:20Speaker 2: You ever see them people, the egg people? They got
- 39:23Speaker 2: the big body and the little tiny skinny fucking legs.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Like a cartoon. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Wow.
- 39:29Speaker 2: They look like an egg with legs. legs.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Man, we have so much to get to. Tomorrow morning,
- 39:36Speaker 1: we're going to be talking about the 200-pound weed bust from.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Lax to Orlando that was intercepted on commercial flights. It's
- 39:49Speaker 1: a big story. We're going to talk about the cruise
- 39:51Speaker 1: mom who's making headlines this morning.
- 39:53Speaker 2: That takes some balls to put 200 pounds on a plane.
- 39:56Speaker 2: We're going to talk about the big Fiji tomorrow. I'm
- 40:00Speaker 2: going to save it for tomorrow. We're going to talk
- 40:02Speaker 2: about the big Fiji cocaine swap for flour. 88 pounds
- 40:09Speaker 2: of cocaine seized from a Fiji Canadian national. that was
- 40:15Speaker 2: being stored at a courtroom for evidence. And they were like,
- 40:20Speaker 2: you know, it's been a long, long time since this cocaine,
- 40:24Speaker 2: 88 pounds of it, has been sitting here. We ought
- 40:28Speaker 2: to just randomly test it.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Flower. Someone swapped it out.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Yep. That's awesome. Yeah. 88 pounds is just for personal use.
- 40:45Speaker 1: It's a huge story. A huge story. Also, Krista Pike,
- 40:50Speaker 1: who's now 50 years old, scheduled to die last night
- 40:55Speaker 1: at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Is that the female?
- 40:58Speaker 1: This is a huge story. First woman executed in Tennessee
- 41:04Speaker 1: in over 200 years.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but didn't they give her a stay?
- 41:07Speaker 1: No.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Oh.
- 41:09Speaker 1: The Supreme Court lifted that last minute stay.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Okay.
- 41:14Speaker 1: The state gave her not one lethal dose, but two.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Both failed. Witnesses said she was still alive and snoring.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 41:30Speaker 1: This is a huge story this morning. Two lethal doses.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Is she dead? No. The media was there watching. And
- 41:43Speaker 1: she's snoring, dude.
- 41:46Speaker 2: So she's done so many drugs in her life that
- 41:50Speaker 2: they couldn't give her a lethal dose.
- 41:52Speaker 1: I don't know. But they took her by ambulance to
- 41:55Speaker 1: a hospital. I think that there's a law. I honestly
- 41:59Speaker 1: think that there's a law. If you make it through that,
- 42:01Speaker 1: they have to let her go. Is that true or
- 42:03Speaker 1: is that just a myth? I don't know.
- 42:05Speaker 2: We've got to look that up. I always thought that
- 42:07Speaker 2: was like a double jeopardy. Once they try killing you once,
- 42:11Speaker 2: they can't.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Do it again. I'm just seeing here. Her condition this
- 42:13Speaker 1: morning hasn't been disclosed, but her lawyers say she survived.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Governor Bill Lee ordered a full third-party review of what
- 42:26Speaker 1: went wrong and paused all executions in Tennessee for the
- 42:31Speaker 1: rest of the year. The back story, at 18, she
- 42:36Speaker 1: and two friends lured her 19-year-old Job Corps classmate, Colleen Slemmer,
- 42:43Speaker 1: into the woods in Knoxville in 1995 and killed her.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Jealous rage. Pike was sentenced to death at 20. One
- 42:52Speaker 1: of the youngest women ever to be given the death
- 42:55Speaker 1: sentence in the modern era. So a huge, huge story here.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm telling you, when you're using drugs to
- 43:02Speaker 2: kill someone... It's probably, like, those people smoking the fentanyl?
- 43:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Good luck giving them a lethal dose.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Listen, I'm going to make a phone call here. Okay,
- 43:19Speaker 1: I'll be quiet. And, no, I don't know if I
- 43:23Speaker 1: necessarily want you to be quiet on this. But we're
- 43:31Speaker 1: going to get real serious here. Real fast. We have
- 43:38Speaker 1: a young lady who's on the air with us right
- 43:43Speaker 1: now who is going through unspeakable difficulty. You told me
- 43:52Speaker 1: a couple of days ago that someone just took their life.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Yep.
- 44:01Speaker 1: What do you... What do you know about this? We
- 44:04Speaker 1: have another suicide in central Vermont.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know a lot. I just know what
- 44:11Speaker 2: I've seen, like everybody else has seen on Facebook, that
- 44:14Speaker 2: she was being cyber-stalked and bullied and took her life.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Her sister, Eleni, is with us on the line, I believe.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Are you there?
- 44:27Speaker 3: Yes. Yes.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Thank you so much for joining us this morning. You know,
- 44:33Speaker 1: this was really, really hard for Central Vermont to process
- 44:41Speaker 1: this news. What happened?
- 44:45Speaker 4: It's really hard to say. For me, I feel like it's,
- 44:51Speaker 4: I think it's a lifetime of.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Things that built up to a point where she just
- 44:58Speaker 3: felt like she couldn't handle it. I think the cyberbullying
- 45:03Speaker 3: was the cherry on top in a moment of her
- 45:10Speaker 3: being at a low point and.
- 45:13Speaker 4: Being told what she was told by Cam.
- 45:18Speaker 3: It's hard for me to say exactly what she was thinking,
- 45:21Speaker 3: but I know that words stay with you and.
- 45:27Speaker 4: As people, I know.
- 45:28Speaker 3: That we believe what people say, even when they're negative, it,
- 45:33Speaker 3: it stays with you a lot more than physical things.
- 45:40Speaker 1: How long has this been, uh, how long has this
- 45:43Speaker 1: been going on? I mean, my God, I mean, there's,
- 45:46Speaker 1: you know, we hear about domestic stuff all the time. Um, we, we, we,
- 45:51Speaker 1: we see it on, on social media. We read about
- 45:54Speaker 1: it in the paper. We see it on the news.
- 45:57Speaker 1: And some of this stuff is, you know, it's... And Rex,
- 46:03Speaker 1: you and I have talked about this. This is private stuff,
- 46:07Speaker 1: but at some point, it gets beyond private and it
- 46:11Speaker 1: gets to be the responsibility of our community.
- 46:15Speaker 2: We have to take the taboo out of it.
- 46:17Speaker 1: We got to stand up and watch out for one
- 46:19Speaker 1: another and recognize when... we need to get involved. I mean,
- 46:25Speaker 1: so many of us turn our head and say, I'm
- 46:27Speaker 1: not getting involved in that shit.
- 46:29Speaker 2: It's more than that.
- 46:31Speaker 1: We got a real tragedy here, man.
- 46:33Speaker 3: 100%.
- 46:34Speaker 2: The biggest thing that.
- 46:35Speaker 1: How old was your sister?
- 46:37Speaker 3: She will be 24 or would have been 24 on
- 46:41Speaker 3: October 23rd.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Okay, so this is my belief between religion, science, everything.
- 46:47Speaker 2: And my belief is, and this is what stopped me
- 46:51Speaker 2: from My own personal. So I started with, I would
- 46:55Speaker 2: look for signs, like, not to do it. Anything. Just
- 46:59Speaker 2: give me any little sign not to do it. So
- 47:01Speaker 2: I started with that.
- 47:03Speaker 1: We're coming up. I want to interrupt you real quick
- 47:06Speaker 1: because we're coming off of, I mean, September was National
- 47:11Speaker 1: Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. Frankly, I think it should
- 47:16Speaker 1: be 12 months. It should be every month, man. But
- 47:19Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 47:20Speaker 2: The problem that the kids have today, like when I
- 47:23Speaker 2: was growing up and stuff in social media. So your algorithms,
- 47:28Speaker 2: if you're in a bad space already to start with,
- 47:32Speaker 2: as soon as you turn on Instagram, it's going to
- 47:34Speaker 2: feed that. If you have a bully, it's nonstop. You
- 47:38Speaker 2: could block them, but they'll find another profile. They'll come
- 47:42Speaker 2: through another. So you block them on Facebook. Now you've
- 47:45Speaker 2: got Instagram. You've got Snapchat. You can never get away
- 47:48Speaker 2: from it. So we have to somehow learn coping skills.
- 47:52Speaker 2: The other thing that we have to realize as friends,
- 47:56Speaker 2: when you have a friend that's depressed and you have
- 47:58Speaker 2: a friend that's a real Debbie Downer, what that does
- 48:01Speaker 2: is that negative energy is almost like taking a magnet
- 48:04Speaker 2: and turning it the other way. So now where all
- 48:06Speaker 2: your friends used to come together like this, that negative
- 48:09Speaker 2: vibe turns this way. Nobody wants to be around that.
- 48:12Speaker 2: They don't say nothing. They don't say nothing to you.
- 48:16Speaker 2: So a lot of times people end up dealing with
- 48:18Speaker 2: this stuff by themselves. And I'll be honest. it's sometimes
- 48:22Speaker 2: easier to talk to a stranger than it is your friends.
- 48:26Speaker 2: I don't want to tell my friends.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Any of my deep dark.
- 48:28Speaker 4: Can I jump in real quick?
- 48:29Speaker 1: Of course you can, and you should, and interrupt us
- 48:34Speaker 1: anytime you want. We're so blessed to have you on
- 48:38Speaker 1: the air with us this morning. Go right ahead, hon.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Thank you so much. I feel like most people, when
- 48:46Speaker 3: it comes to domestic violence, you know, situations like that,
- 48:49Speaker 3: you're right. And the way that they, like not a
- 48:52Speaker 3: lot of people know, not all the time, but with
- 48:56Speaker 3: this situation, a lot of people knew Cam, a lot
- 49:01Speaker 3: of people knew what was going on. I knew what
- 49:03Speaker 3: was going on. My brother knew what was going on.
- 49:08Speaker 3: We tried ourselves to get her away from there. We
- 49:11Speaker 3: flew her to Florida to live with us. And Cam
- 49:14Speaker 3: had called the cops to our house five different times
- 49:19Speaker 3: on Fay. It was never ending. She had a new
- 49:22Speaker 3: phone and still new accounts are being made under Cam
- 49:26Speaker 3: harassing her using, Cameron Ravelin was using her child to
- 49:33Speaker 3: get Faye to leave from Florida and go back to Vermont.
- 49:37Speaker 3: And that's ultimately what happened. And Cameron ultimately lost her child.
- 49:45Speaker 3: But it wasn't a secret. It wasn't a secret of
- 49:48Speaker 3: what was going on. You know, Faye was screaming for
- 49:51Speaker 3: help from her post, from her conversations with me.
- 49:56Speaker 4: You know, I just, part of.
- 49:58Speaker 3: Me feels like we all accept the love we think
- 50:01Speaker 3: we deserve.
- 50:03Speaker 4: And I.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Think that Cam made Faye feel like she didn't deserve much.
- 50:11Speaker 3: I just think that, I mean, I can remember conversations
- 50:15Speaker 3: being on the phone with both Cam and Faye and
- 50:18Speaker 3: just the stuff Cam would say is just not something
- 50:22Speaker 3: I would say to my worst enemy, you know? And
- 50:25Speaker 3: Cam claimed to love her. And Faye believed what she
- 50:29Speaker 3: was being told by Cam.
- 50:33Speaker 4: But it wasn't a secret.
- 50:37Speaker 2: That one's tough. So my, the only thing that I
- 50:43Speaker 2: can say to people that are in these relationships is
- 50:46Speaker 2: number one, when that's going on, your self-esteem gets beaten
- 50:50Speaker 2: down so bad.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:53Speaker 2: Yeah. It's sometimes it takes, I don't know.
- 50:58Speaker 1: It's something.
- 50:59Speaker 2: It's tough, especially when you love someone, when you love
- 51:03Speaker 2: someone and you believe they can change, they can, It's tough.
- 51:09Speaker 4: It's real tough.
- 51:10Speaker 2: We're not learning. Our grandparents aren't teaching us. Our parents
- 51:15Speaker 2: aren't teaching us. What real loving relationships should look like.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Eleni, go ahead.
- 51:21Speaker 4: What is love? I mean, what is it to you?
- 51:24Speaker 4: What is love? Because everyone has a different idea of it.
- 51:27Speaker 3: And for me, my definition of what is love is
- 51:32Speaker 3: Jesus Christ.
- 51:33Speaker 4: You know?
- 51:33Speaker 3: And....
- 51:36Speaker 4: But there's so many people in this.
- 51:37Speaker 3: World that that are taught that love is you know
- 51:41Speaker 3: this toxic thing that you just put up with whatever
- 51:46Speaker 3: it is and it's like ride or die you know
- 51:48Speaker 3: and and it's just not that it's that's not what
- 51:51Speaker 3: it is it's it's selflessness.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Is an equal relationship.
- 51:56Speaker 4: Right where you respect each.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Other you how you each both have boundaries that are
- 52:01Speaker 2: respected yeah.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 4: And you don't speak death over people you love. You
- 52:07Speaker 4: speak life. And that's not what happened in this situation.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Well said. So one thing I will give you a
- 52:18Speaker 2: heads up was she, was this cam sending messages while
- 52:22Speaker 2: Faye was out of state?
- 52:25Speaker 1: Yes.
- 52:26Speaker 2: Okay. So those are federal charges and I know this
- 52:29Speaker 2: for a fact and I can talk to you off air,
- 52:31Speaker 2: but I know for a fact a very close family
- 52:34Speaker 2: member of mine got in trouble for that for sending
- 52:37Speaker 2: messages to his ex-wife and just spent three years in
- 52:40Speaker 2: federal prison being bounced around.
- 52:42Speaker 3: There was a no contact order in place during that time.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Get all that stuff to the police and the feds.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 52:50Speaker 2: Because he went... So I've seen this in-state where they
- 52:54Speaker 2: harass the shit out of him in-state and the state
- 52:57Speaker 2: won't do anything because it's in-state. But as soon as
- 52:59Speaker 2: you cross... state lines it becomes a federal offense and
- 53:03Speaker 2: it's a cyber stalking charge it's a brand new charge
- 53:05Speaker 2: it came out with there's only been two people charged
- 53:07Speaker 2: with them one of them was one of my family
- 53:09Speaker 2: members and the other one was another guy.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Interesting yeah you know we we've had uh we've had
- 53:17Speaker 1: our run of some a lot of tragedy here in
- 53:21Speaker 1: central vermont.
- 53:23Speaker 2: We have tough i deal with this with the kids
- 53:25Speaker 2: all the time.
- 53:25Speaker 1: We've had motorcycle accidents we have car accidents we've we've
- 53:29Speaker 1: had fires we've had Young girls taking their lives. Just
- 53:33Speaker 1: last May, we had a young student at Berry City
- 53:38Speaker 1: Elementary School who took her life. We're just, man, it's like....
- 53:46Speaker 2: That's not the answer. It's a permanent solution for a
- 53:48Speaker 2: temporary problem. I'm going to tell you guys, if you
- 53:50Speaker 2: believe in religion or science, both of them connect, especially
- 53:57Speaker 2: with quantum physics. So we know now that there's multiple,
- 54:02Speaker 2: multiple universe. And my honest believing is if you commit suicide,
- 54:07Speaker 2: you're going to end up right back at another universe
- 54:10Speaker 2: in the same exact spot you were in before you
- 54:12Speaker 2: did it. And you're going to be left to deal
- 54:14Speaker 2: with that over and over again until you figure out
- 54:16Speaker 2: how to fix it. So you never really, you know
- 54:20Speaker 2: what I'm saying? You're going to end up, it's not
- 54:23Speaker 2: a solution. It's never, never a solution, please. That's, I've
- 54:28Speaker 2: been through that. cycle in my own head. And you're
- 54:33Speaker 2: not going to get the outcome you think.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Go ahead, Eleni.
- 54:37Speaker 3: I honestly think that you're right in saying that it
- 54:41Speaker 3: is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
- 54:46Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 54:46Speaker 3: I believe my sister is with God. I don't think
- 54:51Speaker 3: that she's trapped. I think she's with God. And I
- 54:53Speaker 3: think that love that she was looking for in all
- 54:56Speaker 3: the wrong people, she's found it where she is now.
- 55:00Speaker 4: You know, I think that's what I think. I don't, I, I,
- 55:04Speaker 4: I don't, I believe in God. I believe in the Bible.
- 55:08Speaker 4: I'm not religious.
- 55:09Speaker 3: I have a relationship with the person that created me
- 55:13Speaker 3: and my sister. And I know what love is because
- 55:18Speaker 3: I've experienced it through.
- 55:20Speaker 4: My heavenly father.
- 55:22Speaker 3: And I know that Faye's experiencing it now through hers.
- 55:25Speaker 3: And I, it's going to be too long of a
- 55:28Speaker 3: story to go into, but It's a lot more than Cam.
- 55:33Speaker 3: It's a lifetime of things that hit Faye.
- 55:38Speaker 4: All at once. That's what I believe. And I don't know.
- 55:42Speaker 3: I just think that all the pain that she was
- 55:45Speaker 3: carrying and holding onto and feeling like she had to
- 55:48Speaker 3: deal with by herself and maybe the words that she
- 55:52Speaker 3: was even believing from Cam, I think that all of
- 55:55Speaker 3: that is gone. now and nothing is going to bring
- 55:59Speaker 3: her back. Nothing's going to bring her back.
- 56:04Speaker 4: But for people that do feel like that, I've been
- 56:07Speaker 4: there myself. And I know there's probably.
- 56:11Speaker 3: Thousands and millions of people that have felt that way before.
- 56:15Speaker 3: And I think that every day we're here is because
- 56:18Speaker 3: God has a plan for our lives. And I trust
- 56:22Speaker 3: him with completely with my sister right now. I know
- 56:25Speaker 3: where she is. I know that she's safe. I know
- 56:29Speaker 3: that she's okay. And that's the only thing really getting
- 56:32Speaker 3: me through this. But it's hard because it's the people
- 56:39Speaker 3: that are left behind that really suffer.
- 56:41Speaker 4: I'll never hug my sister again. Not in this lifetime.
- 56:48Speaker 3: I'll never be able to talk to her through whatever
- 56:50Speaker 3: it is she's going through.
- 56:51Speaker 4: I can't help her from here.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I see... First of all, I can't imagine. I
- 57:01Speaker 1: see there's a lot of people. Are there brothers and
- 57:05Speaker 1: sisters here? I see Ashley and Michaela and.
- 57:11Speaker 3: Ashley is our sister. Michaela is a friend of Faye's.
- 57:17Speaker 3: Joseph is me and Joe and Faye. We've got the
- 57:22Speaker 3: same mom and dad, but that doesn't make any of
- 57:25Speaker 3: our other siblings.
- 57:26Speaker 4: Less of siblings, you know?
- 57:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:29Speaker 3: But yeah, she has a big family. We all kind
- 57:32Speaker 3: of grew up in foster care. Me and Faye were
- 57:36Speaker 3: in foster care together for a while.
- 57:38Speaker 4: We all got separated at one point.
- 57:41Speaker 3: It's a lifetime of things that have added up.
- 57:46Speaker 4: A lifetime of just holding on to anger.
- 57:53Speaker 1: You know?
- 57:54Speaker 2: Childhood trauma.
- 57:56Speaker 1: And you're dealing with... anger. You're also dealing with heartbreak
- 58:01Speaker 1: and extreme sadness. And I see the level of anger
- 58:08Speaker 1: in Joe's posts. I know you have two, Rex. And justice,
- 58:16Speaker 1: justice for faith.
- 58:21Speaker 3: I really think that The way I see it is
- 58:24Speaker 3: in the end that God will bring justice in his way.
- 58:28Speaker 3: But I do believe that where I'm coming from is
- 58:32Speaker 3: I want people to know and I want Cam to
- 58:37Speaker 3: be aired out, I guess, you know, so she can
- 58:40Speaker 3: learn from her mistakes. She can understand what the power
- 58:44Speaker 3: of her words has over people. We have the power
- 58:47Speaker 3: of life and death over the words we speak. And
- 58:49Speaker 3: I don't know if you've seen the messages from Cam,
- 58:53Speaker 3: but I can promise you it wasn't life she was
- 58:55Speaker 3: speaking over my sister.
- 58:58Speaker 1: You've seen the messages?
- 59:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Joe posted the messages and stuff with him telling
- 59:03Speaker 2: her to do it.
- 59:04Speaker 3: Telling her to hang herself, you know, and to succeed
- 59:09Speaker 3: this time. Wow.
- 59:13Speaker 1: What should be done with that?
- 59:16Speaker 3: I mean... I mean, I definitely feel like there should
- 59:19Speaker 3: be legal consequences for Kim. I don't think that people
- 59:22Speaker 3: should be able to get away... With saying those things,
- 59:25Speaker 3: I mean, if you threatened the president of the United States,
- 59:28Speaker 3: there would be consequences.
- 59:30Speaker 4: And he's a human just like my sister, just like
- 59:32Speaker 4: all of us.
- 59:33Speaker 3: Wow.
- 59:34Speaker 4: That's what I think.
- 59:37Speaker 1: What's going to happen now? I mean, is this going
- 59:38Speaker 1: to be a big hush-hush thing? Will this be swept
- 59:41Speaker 1: under the rug? Will this story fall through the cracks
- 59:44Speaker 1: like so many others? Or will it be brought to light?
- 59:49Speaker 4: I think in the end it's going to be brought
- 59:50Speaker 4: to light no matter what.
- 59:52Speaker 3: I think there's too many people that care now that
- 59:55Speaker 3: she's gone to let it just be swept under the rug.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: That's too bad that people care now.
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: Better late than never.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Comment here, press the federal charges.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Glenn's a former cop.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: I've had a lifetime of being let down by not
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: only DCF, not only the system, not only the police.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: I mean, it, it, it's, it's wrong. It's all wrong.
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: We live in a broken world for sure.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: We, we definitely do. I feel that system also. It
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: failed me as a kid, DCF. It failed me as
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: a kid with counselors. It was, it, it's weird that
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: the systems are in place, but there's just so much failure.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: You know, Rex, you and I are all with, first
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: of all, we goof around a lot, but we also
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: have some really serious conversations and some of them are
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: surrounding mental health. Some of them are surrounding advocating for yourself,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: learning how to protect yourself, learning how to stand up
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: and respect yourself. And, defend yourself in all of this,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: whether it's jiu-jitsu, whether it's whatever it is. You sit
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: down with all of the students that you train with
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: jiu-jitsu and have some really hard.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: We have what's called trauma talks.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Harder talks. Sometimes this is harder for your students than
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: their time on the mat.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Physically.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: To sit and work through some of their shit that's
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: going on.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: In their lives. They also need to know that somebody
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: other that cares about them. Other than... Other than just
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: the people that are legally required to care about them.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Right, right. Or a biological.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: They've never had another man tell them that they're loved.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Yes. That's like a huge... They need to hear this, man.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: We all need to hear this. We all need to
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: hear this. Every person should be loved. But it comes
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: back to... I mean, yesterday... with Loudon Granger, who was
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: on the air. I mean, if you haven't seen that episode,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: you ought to go back and listen to that one.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: I mean, at the end of the day, man, and
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I know Eleni and Joe, Michaela, probably agree here. At
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: the end of the day, it's, we have to take
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: care of ourselves, okay? We have to keep ourselves in check.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: We have to do what's best for ourselves, our mental health.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: That's really hard to do when you're depressed.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: I know. That's a real tough space to get out.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: Especially on your own.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: I know. But if you can, you've got to learn
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: to get out, get exercise, do whatever makes you feel good.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: Buy a motorcycle, whatever it is, okay?
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: For me, it's giving it to God. I don't know
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: what else to do.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: He's the only person that can bring things and make
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: things right and.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Absolutely, believing that God has a plan that you're right
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: where you're supposed to be, good, bad, or indifferent, if
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: you believe that God put you there for a reason,
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: like I was such an anger, I've had to deal
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: with my mental issues now that I'm older because I
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: stayed being a piece of shit for so long that
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: it kept my mind busy. And then once I became
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: older and I slowed down, I've had to deal with
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: all my childhood trauma.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: You know, for me, I never really dealt with, I
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: didn't have to deal with it. I don't know how
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: to explain it any other way than I took that
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: anger and that heaviness and everything bad I ever went
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: through and I gave it to God and he turned
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: it for good. My life is not what it used
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: to be. I have two beautiful kids.
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: I have everything I ever prayed for and more.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: And even though, you know, I am going through something that,
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: I mean, it's hard.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: It's... It's hard.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: The fact that I know my sister is safe doesn't
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: make it any less hard.
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: I don't miss her any less.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: And I probably won't ever stop missing her for the
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: rest of my life, but I know that I'm going
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: to see her again.
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: And the next time that I do, I'll never have
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: to say goodbye.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: Wow. Powerful.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: That's a good outlook. I, you know, I, I, I
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: just really powerful. My, my point is that in, My God, Rex,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: how many conversations have you and I have had about this,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: not just on the air, but on the phone, personally, privately,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: that at the end of the day, man, it's like
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: we have to stand up for those that maybe we're
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: kind of witnessing. Just be observant.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Be awake.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Be aware that, hey, maybe I got a friend or
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: a co-worker or maybe even my neighbor who's a freaking– We.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Are human beings. We are meant to be around people.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: If you notice one of your friends self-isolating, that's a problem.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: If they're telling you they're tired, that's a fucking problem.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Well, I mean, listen, Loudon Granger in here yesterday talking
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: about circle, which is the ancient practice of sitting in
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: a circle. I mean, the freaking cavemen did this. And all...
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: One person at a time go around the circle and
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: we're being quiet and we're listening. We can talk afterwards.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: It started in an urn. They do this all the time.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: You would sit around a fire inside of an urt
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: or an Indian. Then it became our dinner tables.
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: We no longer sit at our dinner tables.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: No, we don't. No, we don't. I mean, my family does,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: and Lily puts up a fight about it. She's got
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: to shut her tablet off to come and sit down
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: at the table. But we do. How was your day?
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Are you okay?
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Did you have a good day?
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: What was good about your day? Oh, it wasn't a
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: good day. What was bad about your day? We have
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: to do... We have to have these conversations with people
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: that we come across, whether it's a coworker, even a
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: coworker or someone that we don't like or, or a stranger,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: you know, it's, we've got to start watching out for
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: one another and, and not just internet has turned in
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: our cheek, man.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: The internet has made us so bold.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: And the truth, the truth is something that is, not
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: in everybody.
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: And it's really hard to find.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: And the truth is, and I think this is what
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: would have saved my sister is knowing this and not,
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: you know, it's you're, no one's going to know because
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: I say it, you know, and she didn't know it
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: because I told her either, but you are loved. You
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: both are loved. You are so loved. And that's why
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: you're here. And I think that, I think we all
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: battle with this thing and internally thinking that, you know, people,
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: are there, but they.
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: Really don't know you. They really don't love you. Like
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: we have this negative thing.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: That constantly tries to lie to us to make us
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: forget reality and what the truth is. And the truth
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: is that you are already so loved everything that you've
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: ever been through.
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: God went through it with you too. He's felt your pain,
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: you know? And, and.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: I think if they knew what that love was, which
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: she does now, I think that, she wouldn't have had
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: to look for it in the wrong people.
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: And I also think that you're right.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: When you say we got to take care of each other,
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: people are selfish. We're all guilty of being selfish. We
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: want what's best for us in the end. And it's
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: not how it's supposed to be. If we all took
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: more time worrying about other people than ourselves, then other
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: people would worry about us. We'd worry about other people
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: and everybody would be worried about each other and we
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: would live in a whole different world.
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: Agree.
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: Listen, we're praying for your family, your friends, anyone who
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: knew Faye, loved Faye. I see the level of just
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: folks right here in central Vermont. I see the level
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: of anger, of sadness, real pain. This is a small community, man.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: I think people are just sick of it.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: We're tired of it.
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: The only solution I know is you need to let
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: go of that anger and let go of that sadness
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: and turn it for good. Do something good with it,
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: not something bad. Don't continue the patterns.
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: Break it. Give it to God.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: Do what he says to do and love each other.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: just love each other the way Christ loved us. He
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: died for us. Elainey, should die for each other. We
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: should love each other that much. Cameron, I don't know,
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: but that's what Cameron did. That's not dying for someone
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: you love. That's not laying your life down for someone
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: you love. That's wanting someone else's life to be gone
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: because of hate. And anger and sadness and whatever trauma
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: that Cam has.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: You know, and at the end of the day, love
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: is what's going to change this world.
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: God loved us first.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: And that's what we need to do with each other
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: is just love each other. Turn that anger into something good.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: Do something good with it. Get justice and change your
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: own life. Look at yourself and see how you treat people.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: And don't let this keep happening.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Listen, you're doing this by.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Being willing to come on the air this morning, live,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: and say these things. I mean, you're doing that.
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: It needs to be said. It needs to be said.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: I'm tired of people not being too afraid to speak
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: the truth because all we hear is lies.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: Over social media, in music. We hear lies. We hear
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: that we.
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: Are a victim of life's cruelness and that God's responsible
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: for every bad thing that happened.
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: Do you know what's responsible? is the fact that God
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: loved us so much, he.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Gave us free will to choose to do what is
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: right and wrong, and we choose to do the wrong thing.
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: That's why bad things happen in this world.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: God wanted us to choose to love him, and in
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: doing so, we love each other.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: Laney, you've got some real powerful stuff that you're putting
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: on the air here this morning. You've got some stuff
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: that I think is going to resonate with folks for
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: a long time. We need to stop, pause, take a
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: deep breath, and reevaluate our lives, what's important to us,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: what maybe should be more important to us, and just
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: take some pause right now. No matter what that is,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: just take a deep breath. Shut your phone off. Get outside.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Rethink things in your life that are wrong.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: Think twice before you send that shitty message.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: Yeah. Everything you do, do out of love. Not out
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: of anger. Not out of sadness. Not out of revenge.
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: Do it out of love.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: That's how you break the cycle.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: I hope I get to meet you. I hope that
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I get to meet Joe. You know, he lives right
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: here in our community. You know him, Rex.
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: Joe lives five minutes away from home.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: I know a lot of do-sos. I don't know which
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: one Joe's. I'm older, so I'm more of probably their
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: grandparents' age.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: Listen.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: I know the family, though.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: We're going to pray for all of you. And we
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: hope that there's some resolve here in some way, shape,
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: or form. And maybe... you know, maybe this is what
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: it looks like right here, just having these conversations on
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: the air. But if there's, if there's any developments with,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: with things, please text me, please follow aired out, stay
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: in touch with me, DM me, DM me through the
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: aired out page and keep me up to speed on,
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: on what's happening. This is a local story, man. We're
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: not going to let it go. And I'm I'm not
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: going to push, but I'll sit back and kind of
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: wait for you and Joe and you guys. You guys
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: come to me. You got a microphone here if you
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: want it anytime.
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: And one thing before we get off is, I guess,
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: you know, the prayers are the best thing that I
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: could ever ask for.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: That's all we really need is prayers.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: And I also just want to get on and say,
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: you know, pray for your enemies, pray for Cam, pray
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: for Cam to change her heart and Be different, you know?
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: That's what we need. We need prayers.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: Cam needs prayers and everybody, especially our animals. They need
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: the most help.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Thanks, Eleni.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Boy. You know, I said this when I let off
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: this morning, that there's some serious stuff that needs to
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: be said. on the air. And I'm glad that this
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: isn't sitting and festering and waiting. I'm glad that we're
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: putting this out right now, here, today. You and I
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: are some of the biggest buffoons Around. And so is G.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: I mean, we really, truly know how to laugh and
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: be light and have a good time. But sometimes, man.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Oh, that's a telltale sign of depressed people. They're the
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: funniest motherfuckers. Robin Williams.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Robin Williams. Chris Farley. Chris Farley. The list is a
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: mile long.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: But.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Man, it's like we, the thing I love about you
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: guys and all my friends is that we can go
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: from being really silly and stupid to really serious.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: Yeah, knowing when to be serious.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: When to be serious. And my God, you know, the
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: purpose of this podcast is to goof around, to give
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: some entertainment, also some information, what the heck's going on
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: in our community. But also have the conversations that have
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: to be had. As uncomfortable as that.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: The ones that need to be aired out.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: The ones that need to be aired out.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Amazing stuff this morning.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: Yeah. She's got a super positive outlook. She does, yeah.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: I'm not as positive as her.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: You know, I'm going to be.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: It takes everything in my ability to, like, just not
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: take revenge when I've been wronged. It's so hard, man.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: You know, and I've been practicing this. I've been practicing it, like,
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: just doing posts. I want to say stuff, and I don't.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: I type it out. I erase it. I type it out.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: I erase it.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: I just, I end up never posting it.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: You and I are so, we're so similar.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: I just don't do it anymore. I don't. Big Ed
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: has helped me with that the most. Yeah.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: You are in charge.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: Of your own ship. 100%. If you want to have
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: a good day, don't rock the boat. Like, you see
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: a post you don't agree with, guess what? You can
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: scroll or you can slap that water and cause some
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: big fucking waves. You are in charge of your own chaos.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: No one else.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: You can choose to be chaotic today or not.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: We're so reactive, man. We just react so quickly. You know,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: call people keyboard warriors. Call them whatever you want to
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: call them. But, man, it's like we react here in
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: the mind before the fingertips.
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: We just need to just stop and take.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: A deep breath. But that's what social media has done
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: to us, has made us comfortable because you're not within
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: arm's reach of getting slapped in the face for saying
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: something stupid. Yeah. That's the reality. You know, we've become
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: way too comfortable with that. So that's why I don't engage.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: I just stopped.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Ed is great with this stuff, and so is Sherilyn.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: And you know what Ed and Sherilyn are great at is...
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: and you've done this too, you're starting to do this,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: is you'll stop and say, wow, yeah, you're right. God,
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: that sucks or whatever.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: I've never said you were right.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: But then you say, but how, and Tom Murphy does
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: this too, but how does it affect you? Does it affect,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: does that really matter to you?
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but drop it. But yes, but. So a
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: perfect example, like when I left, the gym or whatever.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: And there was so many, Oh, I got to tell
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: you this. I want you to go do this. Turn
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: them in for this. Go do that. And I, you know,
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: my first instinct, because I felt I was wronged was
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: to wrong them back. That's always your first instinct. Like, ah,
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: you did it to me. I got to do it
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: to you. And I thought now I was like, do I,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: I don't want to do that because once again, I'm
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: in charge of my own ship. I can, create those
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: waves or we can have a smooth sailing for the day.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: The choice is really yours.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: When you get up in the morning, you can choose
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: for an easy sailing day or you create a lot.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: I just had this with a conversation with one of
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: the kids. I actually had to throw one of the
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: kids out of my program. Um, he was going around
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: whacking people, punching people in the face. And his explanation was, well,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: they disrespected me.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Oh Jesus.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: Jesus.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: And this is why I'm not a counselor and I
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: can't be a counselor for kids because I'm a very
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: real person when it comes to that. And it really
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: pissed me off because I've heard... We specifically, I will
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: not teach a bully. I won't. I was a bully
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: when I was a kid because I got beat up
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: by my dad and I refused to train a bully.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: And the whole disrespect thing... that's a culture. That's a
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: jail mentality. I grew up with that. When you grow
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: up poor, you understand that. You have to be, you know,
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: don't you disrespect my family. You've got to stand up
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: for yourself. You know the other place that that is huge?
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: Jail.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: So I absolutely told the kid, I said, the best
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: advice I could give you at this point is to
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: go to Cumberland Farms, buy some Magnum XXXL condoms, stuff
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: five matchbox cars in that condom, and stuff it in
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: your ass. Because that's the only thing that's going to
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: save you when you're in jail, as long as you
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: keep that mentality. Wow. So.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Well, that's one way of looking at it.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: Well, but it's true.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: It's out. You're going to walk around. You think I'm
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: going to train you. We've been in there boxing and
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: teaching these kids combinations and shit. And he has been
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: lighting people up in Montpelier, Barry, Tombridge. Like, so what
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: happens when you are, you're no longer a hundred pound
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: 15 year old kid. Now you're a grown man and you,
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: and you whack somebody like that and they fall down
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: on the sidewalk, bust their head. You're going to jail
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: because that guy disrespected you, but he's dead, and now
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: you're in jail. But at least you got the respect
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: you deserve, right?
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: That respect was a big thing. But it's funny. He
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: never tries to whack me when I disrespect him.
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: So is it really about respect?
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Or just a power imbalance, maybe?
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: I don't know. Parents, when you act like this and
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: your kids see what you do, Your kids act out
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: the same way you do. If that's what you're talking
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: about on the phone in front of your kids is
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: how this one disrespected you and we're not going to
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: put up with this and stuff like that, your kids
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: hear you.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: They're listening.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: Your kids hear everything. If you are raising your voice
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: to your wife, you're screaming at them, you're hitting your kid,
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: they see that. You're not giving that you're... Hopefully your
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: kids see that and they can break that generational cycle,
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: but just know everything you do in front of your
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: kids all the way up through your, you're their mentor.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: I'm not, I only see kids, you know, one, two
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: hours a week. I'm definitely not their mentor. I tell
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: them how it is, but I'm not, you know, your parents,
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: your parents, your grandparents, those are your mentors. Those are
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: the people that are around you and parents. Seriously. You
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: want your kids to know what a loving relationship is?
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: Show them.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: You can't tell them.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: You have to show them.
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: If you scream at your wife and drink every single night,
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: what do you think your kids are going to do
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: when they grow up? Do you think they're going to
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: do anything different than you? You lead by example.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: We all need to be leading by example a little
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: bit more.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: If you don't want your kids to be shitty, don't
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: be a shitty parent.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: The thing that really gets under my skin about this
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: story of Faye is, and I called Tom Murphy. I
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: texted the whole group over at Sweethearts and Heroes.
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: Good guys. Great, great people. And I want to tell
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: everybody right now, if you haven't discovered Sweethearts and Heroes,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: you really need to. I'm going to put their webpage
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: right here in the comments. They're on the air with
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: me every single Wednesday. Have been for two years now.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: That's awesome. Over two years. Is that That this was preventable.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: And that's what I think bothers me more than anything else.
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: But how is it preventable?
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: It is preventable. Okay. It should have been nipped in
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: the ass. It should have been taken care of a
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: long time ago. Aggressively.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: Right. We say that now in hindsight.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: I know, buddy, but that's just....
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: You know the other thing that It's.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: How I feel.
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: I hear you, man. I hear you.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: We got to open our eyes to more things, man.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: We got to watch our friends. We got to pay
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: attention a little bit more.
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: There's got to be a better way to be able
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: to block people too, man. Yeah, right. Because I know
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: a girl that's dealing with a little junkie. And she
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: blocks him. And like a day later, he's got a
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: new phone number. He's got a way to send her
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: a nasty message. And he just sends the most vile
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: messages while he's smoking the fentanyl.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: And it's wild.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Really too bad. Yeah, it is.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: Oh, Resilient Defense. So you saw the letter, right? I did.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: We are federally recognized now. As a nonprofit. Okay. So
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: now we have that we are state and federally recognized.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: So now we are looking for a more permanent spot
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: in the Williamstown area. Right now we have a couple
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: places we can build, but that's going to take time.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: And I have kids right now that need mentorship. I
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: want to do free kids classes and free adult self-defense.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: And I want to mentor... Teenage kids.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: I just dropped your webpage.
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: Oh, that's awesome.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: So folks can look at it. Great stuff that you're doing.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: Yeah, because I've got the mats. I've got the rings.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: I've got the cages.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: I have everything to set up a gym right now.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: You go light years beyond the mats, Rex. You're changing lives.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: Look at what you do with Dante. Every Saturday morning, Dante,
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: who's autistic, you do private... Lessons with him and his
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: dad over at the wellness building on Summer Street. Every
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: Saturday morning, you're committed to this.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: I still don't get to the people that harass me
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: about him. It's wild to me. And they're always anonymous.
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: That's the best part.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: Haters are going to always hate me.
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: Well, someone came on. They were like, what's the point
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: of this? I said, well, it's awareness to autism. And
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: his response was, we already know what autism is. He goes,
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: you're just doing this to self-promote yourself.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: A D-bag.
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: I was like, wow, sweet, man. I said, but how
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: am I, like, I'm not making any money. I make
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: zero money.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: And I said, this is a.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: You volunteer your time.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: You're doing something called connecting with your community.
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: Okay. If I made a million dollars off Dante doing
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: Dante views, then I would be like, yeah, you're right, dude.
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: I made a million dollars. I mean, I wouldn't hide it,
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: but no, I make zero money doing that. And it's.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: It's more because Dante is my buddy, man. He's my friend.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: Has been for years.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: Yeah. So, but that's what I guess a lot of
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: people don't understand is that's his reward.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: He has always wanted to be a rock star, always
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: wanted to be on YouTube, wanted to be on TV.
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: You know, because he's that age.
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: He loves.
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: The social media, he loves his fans and followers. So
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: when he gets on there, that is the best for him.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: He thinks he's on TV.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. What they don't see is right before I
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: turn the cameras on, with him running around, flapping his wings,
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: flapping his arms, because he's so excited to get on live.
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: I know. So maybe I'll videotape that so people know.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: Why we're... Dude, you're doing great stuff, man.
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: But then again, I've gotten to the point where I don't.
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: try to justify myself to total strangers. I could care less.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Good for you. But that's hard.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: You have the same problem I do. I want everybody
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: to like me.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: I'm learning.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: Now I'm like, wait a minute, I don't know you.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: I don't give a fuck if you like.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: Me or not. I'm learning through you. You don't realize.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: And G too, man. He's the same way. He's like, yeah,
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: but do you really care? Yeah, I do. And he's like, yeah,
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: but really? Come on.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: Hey.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: Get a grip. And I'm like, well, you got a point. Oh,
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: my God.
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: Can we zoom in on Athena?
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: No. No?
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: Or we can see her. Really?
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: Shout out to 802 Paws. Thank you. Oh, that made
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: her mad.
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: They love Athena down there. I walked in. They took
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: her in on a special request.
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: And cleaned her all up, made her smell good. Now
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: she smells bad again.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: Timed her another.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: 164 South Main Street in Barrie. 802 Paws Dog Grooming
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: and Spa.
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: So I thought it was down on the Barrie Montpelier Road.
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: It is not. It's up by North Main Street across from.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: The car wash.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: Car wash. Yes. That's where it is.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: Great place.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: Great people.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Athena was super happy.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: There's three women in there.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: And they.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: They did it with G, which is a whole other thing.
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: Oh, shit. They can do it with him.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: Kim, Tanya, and Debbie, they've been doing it a long time.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: Great people. Yep. And one of our sponsors.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: No, they did a great job.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: Rex, thanks for coming in here this morning. We're all done?
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: And listen, big, big shout to Eleni, Joe, the rest
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: of the whole family. And all of their friends. I
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: hope they follow Aired Out. I hope that they continue
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: this conversation with me, with us, with other people that
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: I have on. Um, I'm not, if, if they're not,
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: if they're willing to stay in touch with me and
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: continue this conversation, I'm willing to have it. And I
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: think it should be have had on these bikes. Yep.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: I think you have the platform. I think they have the, uh,
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: They have the opportunity to get the message out on
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: such a large platform. I mean, I don't think a
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: lot of people realize that Aired Out gets close to
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: a million views a month just from Aired Out. So
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: you're reaching a ton of people from your little studio
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: here in Barry, Vermont.
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: The reach is incredible. Well, now look at that. You
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: were just talking to somebody on the phone from Florida.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: So, yeah.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: Amazing stuff.
