0:43
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
0:45
SPEAKER_00: A lot to hit thirty-four to thirty-one.
0:51
SPEAKER_01: Another garbage touchdown to make it look closer.
0:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
0:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because completely up 21 14 and a half.
1:02
SPEAKER_00: Just completely outmatched in the second half.
1:04
SPEAKER_00: What's going on in halftime?
1:06
SPEAKER_00: Oh.
1:07
SPEAKER_00: No adjustment.
1:08
SPEAKER_01: Same thing that's going on in practice every week.
1:10
SPEAKER_01: Nothing.
1:13
SPEAKER_00: Fourth eight goes to 0 and 3.
1:16
SPEAKER_00: 8 and 1 an HTTP game and over a year.
1:23
SPEAKER_00: And the game they did when they should.
1:38
SPEAKER_00: I managed to avoid losing one in the game of contract that goes.
1:44
SPEAKER_00: Based on that.
3:02
SPEAKER_00: You've been getting beat by better better teams, better players, and better coaches.
3:07
SPEAKER_00: That's what you've been doing.
3:09
SPEAKER_00: Because Pat Narduzi, or whatever the fuck, just came in and outcoached you.
3:18
SPEAKER_02: Oh, I mean he didn't get out of here.
3:19
SPEAKER_00: You got outcoached by Shannon Dawson.
3:21
SPEAKER_00: You were laughing in it up where he's just making comments to the press about you.
3:26
SPEAKER_00: You got outcoached by Tony Elliott in Virginia.
3:30
SPEAKER_01: Right, everybody.
3:31
SPEAKER_01: Everybody.
3:32
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like it you managed to spring a surprise.
3:36
SPEAKER_00: But you won a game against Calen DeBoer who's outcoaching everybody.
3:40
SPEAKER_00: But like, yeah, but like game film.
3:43
SPEAKER_00: There's this perception thing of like, oh, Calen De Boer, and he's not that good.
3:48
SPEAKER_00: But no, look at the records.
3:50
SPEAKER_00: He's doing pretty good.
3:51
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's doing great.
3:53
SPEAKER_00: If he had to play Florida State in week two or three, he would have kicked the shit out of him.
3:56
SPEAKER_00: No, but it looks like when it's terms of like coaching and making adjustments, you have to make adjustments.
4:06
SPEAKER_01: Oh, these these coaches don't do that.
4:09
SPEAKER_01: And Tony White has not made an adjustment since he got to Florida State.
4:14
SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe the adjustments are more, you can say they don't have the players.
4:19
SPEAKER_01: No, I don't give a shit, man.
4:21
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
4:21
SPEAKER_01: This is three weeks in a row where nobody's been able to cover the running back.
4:26
SPEAKER_01: Three weeks in a row where the quarterback can just run for 20 yards at a chunk.
4:31
SPEAKER_00: The running back at receiving numbers were Hall of Fame numbers.
4:36
SPEAKER_01: Right.
4:37
SPEAKER_01: Because they saw what happened in Virginia and against Miami.
4:42
SPEAKER_00: So it's like, oh, we gotta make a we we might want to watch out for the wheel route, you know?
4:48
SPEAKER_01: Right.
4:49
SPEAKER_01: That's probably the most versatile player that they've played against at this point, Desmond Reed.
4:54
SPEAKER_01: And he like he saw what happened.
4:57
SPEAKER_00: Dude, dude, I'm just gonna burn the shit out of your back seven because he had 12 carries for 45 yards, but that was not where he he beat the Knowles.
5:07
SPEAKER_00: He beat him in the in the in the air attack.
5:10
SPEAKER_00: He had eight catches, 155 yards, and two touchdowns for Desmond Reed.
5:17
SPEAKER_00: And then the freshman had 16 carries for 64 yards, and that's the Heichnell.
5:24
SPEAKER_00: Heichel, whatever the hell.
5:27
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
5:28
SPEAKER_00: 21 to 29, 321 yards, two touchdowns, two picks.
5:33
SPEAKER_00: Had two picks in the first in the second quarter, but you know what?
5:36
SPEAKER_00: He went into the half and got coached.
5:38
SPEAKER_00: Got coached up and didn't throw any picks in the second half.
5:43
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
5:44
SPEAKER_01: You know, you're up 21-14 at halftime.
5:47
SPEAKER_01: Have the ball on the 43 to start the second half and get shit out of it.
5:54
SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, you just look at like what the other team did and what their coaches did with what the players they have.
6:02
SPEAKER_00: You know?
6:03
SPEAKER_00: And look at this kid Heichnell or whatever, you know?
6:07
SPEAKER_00: He's coming out, he's balling out, he he comes out, he throws two picks.
6:11
SPEAKER_00: Hey, calm down, buddy.
6:14
SPEAKER_00: We're gonna we're gonna here's what we're gonna do.
6:15
SPEAKER_00: And they did it.
6:18
SPEAKER_00: And that and you don't see that shit.
6:22
SPEAKER_00: Where's Florida State with any of that?
6:24
SPEAKER_00: Now this game changed on the fumble because right here it just no, it it it it looked like Florida State was taking control, honestly.
6:38
SPEAKER_00: The defense was actually making stops.
6:41
SPEAKER_00: Um, they had the field goal, then they had the ball um going in at the end of the third quarter, but they run the ball again, they keep running the ball like you eventually you might want to play action or throw the defense off and they run it again, and they get a fumble.
7:00
SPEAKER_00: They get a fumble.
7:01
SPEAKER_00: That was that man, the game changed after that fumble.
7:05
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was all downhill after that.
7:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, situation they go down and tie the game, and the defense still holds them to a field goal, but the offense was done after that.
7:19
SPEAKER_01: Right, because it's very limited to begin with.
7:22
SPEAKER_01: It was done after the bigger thing.
7:23
SPEAKER_01: There's only so many things.
7:26
SPEAKER_00: That was it.
7:28
SPEAKER_00: You lost the game right there because I would I would say, I mean, you're on your way.
7:32
SPEAKER_00: I mean, they had the ball, it was 94-yard drive possibly.
7:37
SPEAKER_00: It was they started at their own five, and they were driving, and they were racking up three or four yards of carry, and they were just tying it, and it was just ugly, and it was going.
7:48
SPEAKER_00: I was like, yes, this is exactly what we need.
7:51
SPEAKER_00: And then he just fumbles.
7:55
SPEAKER_01: You know, it's it's it's always something like that.
7:58
SPEAKER_00: Right.
7:59
SPEAKER_00: And then they came down and they kicked the field goal to tie it up, and then that was it for the offense.
8:05
SPEAKER_00: They got stopped three and out.
8:07
SPEAKER_00: They got they went down and kicked another field goal.
8:12
SPEAKER_00: Offense wasn't able to do anything again, gave them the ball back and they went down and scored a touchdown.
8:18
SPEAKER_00: And that ball game.
8:20
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
8:22
SPEAKER_01: That's that's how you lose when you're not a good team.
8:25
SPEAKER_00: Right.
8:25
SPEAKER_00: You can't afford to fumble in those situations.
8:29
SPEAKER_00: You don't have the players, you can't.
8:31
SPEAKER_00: You don't have the depth, and a team like Pitt whoop your ass.
8:37
SPEAKER_01: Right.
8:38
SPEAKER_01: And you know, you turn the ball over every single week this year in the season.
8:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you turn the ball over every game.
8:44
SPEAKER_01: You got very lucky that Catalanos got back on top of his fumble early in the first half.
8:52
SPEAKER_00: Um then you got bullied because it looked like you had you should have got the ball, honestly, after you fumbled it, Holmes.
9:00
SPEAKER_00: Based on the replay that I saw, it looked like you should have had that ball, and he must have bullied it from you because you're soft.
9:07
SPEAKER_00: And you fumbled.
9:08
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, it's just, you know, they're not they're not a well-prepared team week in, week out.
9:14
SPEAKER_00: They just need months and months to prepare for you.
9:18
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, months and months, and and the element of surprise.
9:21
SPEAKER_01: Right.
9:22
SPEAKER_01: For the other teams and not having any idea like what your players are capable or incapable of.
9:27
SPEAKER_00: Well, they know what like what's the there's no adjustments?
9:31
SPEAKER_00: No, it's just no adjustments, man.
9:34
SPEAKER_00: Where's the halftime adjustments?
9:36
SPEAKER_01: Well, that that's it.
9:37
SPEAKER_01: The halftime we run is it was bullish.
9:39
SPEAKER_01: What we run is the only thing that that they can do.
9:43
SPEAKER_01: Like it there are no adjustments to be made.
9:46
SPEAKER_01: Tony Tony White's defense is what it is.
9:48
SPEAKER_00: Like well, I think that's be and then that goes back to because you have to do this.
9:53
SPEAKER_00: Because you don't have the you don't have the roster.
9:56
SPEAKER_01: You don't have any players.
9:57
SPEAKER_01: You don't have the roster.
9:58
SPEAKER_00: You don't have it because you've been recruited whooped on the recruiting trail.
10:03
SPEAKER_00: You can't just line up and lean on people.
10:07
SPEAKER_00: You know, so you have to like scheme it, and then you can't scheme it.
10:17
SPEAKER_01: That's it.
10:18
SPEAKER_01: But then you hired you hired a guy that that doesn't do any in-game adjustments, man.
10:25
SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't I don't see anything.
10:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
10:29
SPEAKER_00: So Yeah, that was startling.
10:32
SPEAKER_00: The second half was completely just dominated by Pitt.
10:38
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it looked it looked for a second there, but it's like once they fumbled, it was it was just that was it.
10:46
SPEAKER_00: There was no response.
10:47
SPEAKER_00: So it was just the offense completely shut down.
10:50
SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, it's and they had no receivers.
10:53
SPEAKER_00: No, they have no depth at receiver.
10:55
SPEAKER_00: So you lost Deuce, Deuce was out, and then you see that you're relying on I mean, you're relying on Danzi.
11:06
SPEAKER_00: Danzi is the only thing you got having good stats because he got that last late one.
11:12
SPEAKER_00: That kid hasn't played receiver until this season.
11:14
SPEAKER_00: No, because you don't have the dudes.
11:18
SPEAKER_01: So you you you know.
11:20
SPEAKER_00: So the transfer guy got hurt.
11:23
SPEAKER_00: That was a legacy that didn't didn't come here.
11:28
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
11:29
SPEAKER_01: I mean it all just boils down to the fact that this is what Florida State is gonna be under Mike Mobile.
11:40
SPEAKER_00: 36 and 30 is his record.
11:43
SPEAKER_01: Five out of six seasons, two and three games in a row.
11:46
SPEAKER_00: Five out of six seasons, he's lost.
11:48
SPEAKER_01: Even in twenty-two when he went nine and three and everything was celebrated, like he lost three games in a row.
11:54
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know.
11:55
SPEAKER_00: I remember those games.
11:56
SPEAKER_00: Wake, NC State, and uh that that's exactly what I was like.
12:01
SPEAKER_00: The optimist here was like, all right, well, you gotta just win out.
12:05
SPEAKER_00: And so, all right, you can beat Stanford, Wake, but you got to you're not winning out.
12:14
SPEAKER_00: You got to try.
12:15
SPEAKER_00: I mean, if you're Mike, you got to.
12:16
SPEAKER_00: You gotta win out.
12:17
SPEAKER_00: Well, sure.
12:18
SPEAKER_00: You gotta show that you're a streaky coach and you can win out.
12:22
SPEAKER_00: And if you win out, you'd be like, hey, we're gonna win undefeated next year.
12:26
SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
12:28
SPEAKER_01: That's that's yeah, sure.
12:30
SPEAKER_00: I mean, that I find my if I'm Mike Norvell, that's what you know.
12:33
SPEAKER_00: If I'm if I'm any, I mean, honestly, FSU can't afford it.
12:37
SPEAKER_00: It's done, but can't afford it.
12:41
SPEAKER_01: No, I mean he he doesn't have to win out.
12:43
SPEAKER_01: That's the thing.
12:44
SPEAKER_01: Like, y'all can't fire me until after.
12:46
SPEAKER_01: I know, but why not win out?
12:48
SPEAKER_00: Why not win out?
12:49
SPEAKER_01: Well, why not?
12:50
SPEAKER_01: Is because you don't have the players that you had in 2022.
12:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
12:55
SPEAKER_01: You don't have any pass rush.
12:57
SPEAKER_01: You don't have linebackers that have that are actually good players, but just need to keep, you know, keep working, need time in the system.
13:05
SPEAKER_01: You got a bunch of expendables from other programs.
13:08
SPEAKER_00: I mean, this is a game where Castellanos actually played 16 to 23, 250, three touchdowns, zero picks.
13:18
SPEAKER_01: Um that's about as good as you can can hope for from that guy.
13:23
SPEAKER_00: 21-29 for Heichnell uh for 321, two touchdowns and two picks for him.
13:30
SPEAKER_00: But just uh they had three guys with over 40 yards rushing.
13:37
SPEAKER_01: Um the opportunity when you're up 21 to 14, getting the ball in the second half.
13:42
SPEAKER_01: You start the ball almost at midfield.
13:44
SPEAKER_00: And you didn't do it.
13:45
SPEAKER_01: Not only do you fail to get points, but they drive the ball right down the fucking field at tie the game.
13:51
SPEAKER_00: Three and out, and they went down.
13:52
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
13:53
SPEAKER_00: That's it.
13:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you had the ball.
13:55
SPEAKER_00: You it was second half, you had the ball at the 43.
13:58
SPEAKER_00: That's a good point.
13:59
SPEAKER_00: After the penalty that they had at the end of the half, the and then you had you made a good return and you couldn't do anything.
14:08
SPEAKER_00: And then not, and then you had a great punt.
14:11
SPEAKER_00: Great punt.
14:12
SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, great punt.
14:13
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, starting at their own 15 and 10.
14:15
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but they went 85 yards right down the field.
14:17
SPEAKER_01: Right, easy, easy.
14:19
SPEAKER_01: You know, quarterback runs for 10 yards.
14:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they tied that game up easy.
14:24
SPEAKER_00: And then all of a sudden you're in a you're in a dog fight.
14:28
SPEAKER_00: And then it's just like a bunch of field goals and turn the ball up.
14:37
SPEAKER_00: Turn the ball over.
14:38
SPEAKER_00: Once that once you get him in a close, like you turn the ball over and just yeah.
14:45
SPEAKER_01: That's it.
14:46
SPEAKER_01: That's that's that's just the way that it looks the exact same that it did in his first season here.
14:55
SPEAKER_01: The exact fucking same.
14:56
SPEAKER_00: That was the only turnover they had.
14:59
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
14:59
SPEAKER_01: It was just like I said, Casalanos coughed it up and got back to the show.
15:03
SPEAKER_00: He had more turnovers than they did.
15:06
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
15:07
SPEAKER_01: And that's what he took both of those turnovers and and turned turned the momentum.
15:12
SPEAKER_01: Got the lead to go into half.
15:15
SPEAKER_01: You know, like that's you were actually playing well at the end of the first half and had things going your way and managed to fuck it up in like five minutes of game time.
15:27
SPEAKER_00: Right.
15:28
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
15:29
SPEAKER_00: And that's been a recurring theme.
15:33
SPEAKER_00: They've been getting out they the Virginia game.
15:36
SPEAKER_00: They they gave up the touchdown, and then like the bit the middle eight is that Clemson and Virginia now like to talk about.
15:46
SPEAKER_00: And we've just been getting killed in that that time.
15:50
SPEAKER_01: You just don't you don't have good players, you have a really, really shitty coaching staff.
15:57
SPEAKER_01: Um whatever.
16:01
SPEAKER_01: Like I know like the investing emotion in Florida State football from this point on is only just asking to feel like this every Saturday.
16:11
SPEAKER_01: You know, I know it's famous.
16:12
SPEAKER_00: So the worst thing that the worst thing that could have happened was loot winning.
16:17
SPEAKER_00: Honestly, uh beating Alabama.
16:20
SPEAKER_00: And honestly, the worst thing that could have happened for the program in long term was going undefeated in the way that you did and having a drastic injury to Jordan Travis, where you would give this coach a contract like you did.
16:35
SPEAKER_00: Well, that's where you were just hampered by it.
16:38
SPEAKER_00: Where now you're stuck.
16:40
SPEAKER_01: It comes down to you know, an AD that is more seasoned and has been in a big school and has dealt with Jimmy Sexton and Jimmy Sexton clients, not a guy that's coming from central Michigan, probably has a little more savvy and negotiate tactic to not corner himself into a fully guaranteed fucking contract.
17:04
SPEAKER_01: I think I don't give a shit who reported to one of them as the next head coach.
17:09
SPEAKER_00: Like, listen, no, no, no, no.
17:10
SPEAKER_00: Jimbo one here, Jimbo one here, Bobby one here.
17:14
SPEAKER_00: Right, you can win, you can win here.
17:17
SPEAKER_00: We're not you can't what you can't do now in this kind of landscape, you can't bend over backwards.
17:23
SPEAKER_00: You have to try to like budget smartly, and you and if anything, you can't overpay for a coach ever.
17:30
SPEAKER_01: Well, you look at look at the schools that that have have given those fully guaranteed contracts out in recent memory.
17:36
SPEAKER_01: You start with Jimbo at Texas AM.
17:38
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
17:39
SPEAKER_01: And what what happened there?
17:40
SPEAKER_01: Now you look at what's happening at Penn State with James Franklin.
17:44
SPEAKER_01: And it when does it ever end well for the school?
17:47
SPEAKER_01: Well, why wouldn't it?
17:48
SPEAKER_01: It's a dream.
17:49
SPEAKER_01: It's a dream.
17:51
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's always gonna work out for the coach because he's gonna get fucking paid.
17:56
SPEAKER_01: But when, like, it just it's the dumbest thing you can do.
17:59
SPEAKER_01: He's gonna take the Alabama job.
18:01
SPEAKER_01: Take the Alabama job.
18:03
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
18:03
SPEAKER_01: If he would have taken the Alabama job, would we be worse off right now than we are?
18:08
SPEAKER_00: No.
18:10
SPEAKER_01: There you go.
18:11
SPEAKER_01: That's what you have to ask yourself as the athletic director.
18:14
SPEAKER_01: Right.
18:14
SPEAKER_01: Like, do I have enough confidence in myself to go and find another coach?
18:18
SPEAKER_01: And that's part of it.
18:19
SPEAKER_01: You know, we got really lucky that Link Jarrett is a really good baseball coach and he is an alum.
18:25
SPEAKER_01: We got really lucky that Luke Laux is an up-and-comer rising star in the NBA, and he really wanted a coach here at Florida State.
18:33
SPEAKER_00: Right.
18:33
SPEAKER_01: Like, those aren't those aren't goes out and sells the program type hires from Michael Alfred.
18:40
SPEAKER_01: He's done absolutely nothing in that regard except lock you into a loser fucking coach for a football program.
18:47
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he he blew it.
18:49
SPEAKER_00: I I didn't like it.
18:50
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was it was it was reactionary at the time.
18:55
SPEAKER_00: It was uh it was emotional at the time.
18:59
SPEAKER_00: It was like it was like, well, you know, we got screwed we got screwed, but we're we're gonna judge, yeah.
19:09
SPEAKER_01: So committed to the guy that that thought it was a good idea to play Jordan Travis for a quarter and a half against a team that you ended up blowing out with Tate Rodemaker anyway.
19:19
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
19:20
SPEAKER_01: Like a real AD would have been like, let's see.
19:23
SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's a tough break, but it's also your fault, Mike.
19:26
SPEAKER_00: Right.
19:26
SPEAKER_01: Like he kept that kid out there and it's a good one.
19:28
SPEAKER_01: Should have never played that game.
19:30
SPEAKER_00: Should have never played the game.
19:31
SPEAKER_01: No, you take one snap, you hand it off, you go sit on the bench.
19:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you go sit on the bench, you get a standing ovation, you like you hand it off, and then you literally like walk off, and you're like, now at quarterback, take Rotamaker.
19:43
SPEAKER_00: And they all cheer, and everybody goes to fucking, yep.
19:46
SPEAKER_00: It wasn't.
19:47
SPEAKER_01: What was the motivation behind it?
19:49
SPEAKER_01: Oh, we need him to win?
19:50
SPEAKER_01: No, no, you don't.
19:51
SPEAKER_01: You blew him out with Rottermaker anyway.
19:54
SPEAKER_00: Right.
19:54
SPEAKER_00: It was it was yeah, that's a great fucking point.
19:58
SPEAKER_00: Like if he gets hurt against Florida or if he gets hurt against Louisville, nobody says he got hurt against a a team that was playing dirty and looking to do shit.
20:10
SPEAKER_00: He should have never been in that game.
20:13
SPEAKER_01: And that right there needs to tell you something about like he's old, like you you are out of your fucking element here.
20:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
20:23
SPEAKER_01: You do not belong to the time.
20:26
SPEAKER_00: Bobby wouldn't have played George.
20:28
SPEAKER_01: No, hell no, he wouldn't have played him.
20:29
SPEAKER_01: Jimbo would have played.
20:30
SPEAKER_00: That would have been a Danny Canaro game against Maryland.
20:33
SPEAKER_00: Like, remember the high the Heisman winning season, Charlie Ward didn't play against Maryland.
20:41
SPEAKER_01: Right.
20:41
SPEAKER_01: On the road against Maryland, just because he has sore ribs.
20:45
SPEAKER_01: Like, no, I'm not risking it, dude.
20:46
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
20:47
SPEAKER_01: I got this backup.
20:48
SPEAKER_01: If we're really that good, we'll go out here and win without him.
20:51
SPEAKER_01: But I'm gonna make sure that he's ready to go when we gotta go to South Bank.
20:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he bought into like, oh yeah, force the player.
20:57
SPEAKER_00: No, you sit that dude.
20:59
SPEAKER_01: No, yeah.
21:00
SPEAKER_01: You know, it's his senior night.
21:02
SPEAKER_01: He wants to come out one last time.
21:04
SPEAKER_01: I get that.
21:05
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
21:06
SPEAKER_01: Play one snap.
21:07
SPEAKER_01: Then you get your ass on the sideline.
21:08
SPEAKER_01: And tell you what, if we're losing in the fourth quarter to this shit ass team, then I'll put you back in and you can be a hero.
21:16
SPEAKER_01: But we're not gonna be.
21:18
SPEAKER_00: Right.
21:18
SPEAKER_00: Because we blew him the fuck out.
21:20
SPEAKER_00: Right.
21:20
SPEAKER_00: It was a bad call there, and it's been nothing but shit since.
21:26
SPEAKER_01: Right.
21:26
SPEAKER_01: And that's that's gonna be, and honestly, it just encompasses how out of his element and in over his head he is.
21:33
SPEAKER_01: You think that's what it is?
21:36
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's definitely what he is.
21:38
SPEAKER_00: He's just in over his head.
21:42
SPEAKER_01: Every week.
21:43
SPEAKER_01: If I don't have kids that go out there and work their asses off and self-motivate themselves, dudes that are gonna be future pros, right?
21:50
SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna win.
21:51
SPEAKER_00: Right.
21:52
SPEAKER_00: There's no, it's all sell it's from those diamonds in the rough he has.
21:56
SPEAKER_00: But it's all from those guys.
21:58
SPEAKER_01: Like there's no lightning in a fucking bottle.
22:01
SPEAKER_00: Right.
22:02
SPEAKER_01: Up and down that roster.
22:03
SPEAKER_01: You know, a guy like Johnny Wilson that's just been forgotten.
22:06
SPEAKER_01: Trey Benson, oh, I got hurt and just kind of lost in the shuffle.
22:10
SPEAKER_01: Jordan Travis, signed by a different coach, all of a sudden figures out, dude, I can be a really good quarterback.
22:16
SPEAKER_01: Jared Burst, a portal find before the portal bubble bursts, and everybody starts going to it.
22:23
SPEAKER_01: All of that shit.
22:24
SPEAKER_01: It all culminated in one really good season.
22:27
SPEAKER_00: And getting paid.
22:30
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and him getting paid.
22:32
SPEAKER_01: Like I said, it's like, you know, he he's got a few.
22:34
SPEAKER_00: By finding the right dudes that were self-motivated, I guess.
22:39
SPEAKER_01: Right.
22:39
SPEAKER_01: I got myself paid, they got to go to the NFL.
22:44
SPEAKER_01: Only people that got fucked over were the fans and Jordan Travis.
22:47
SPEAKER_01: And that's that's where we sit.
22:50
SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, if if if you're a Florida State fan, you can actually separate yourself from emotional investment right now.
22:57
SPEAKER_01: You need to be hoping for a loss every week.
23:02
SPEAKER_01: Because that's the only thing that could possibly get you know what?
23:07
SPEAKER_01: We'll find the fucking money.
23:08
SPEAKER_01: I don't care if we've got to mortgage the future of the athletic department to get it, but we gotta get this loser out right now.
23:16
SPEAKER_01: Because that's what's gonna happen.
23:18
SPEAKER_01: That's it.
23:19
SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's that's the only way they're saving it.
23:21
SPEAKER_00: Anything that can be anything that can be a life rap.
23:25
SPEAKER_00: He'll probably go on a little mini streak here.
23:28
SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
23:29
SPEAKER_00: No, I mean.
23:30
SPEAKER_00: Well, that's the thing.
23:32
SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah, if you don't do that, I like I said, you gotta make a bowl.
23:36
SPEAKER_00: You gotta make a bowl.
23:38
SPEAKER_00: And you gotta take it back, take it back.
23:40
SPEAKER_01: All that is is a life rap for him.
23:42
SPEAKER_01: Well, that's not making your program any better.
23:44
SPEAKER_01: You're not building off that for next year because it's the same shit.
23:50
SPEAKER_02: Well, right, lowered expectations.
23:54
SPEAKER_01: But see, the thing is, is now you've allowed this guy, by being a loser, to reset the expectations of your entire program.
24:02
SPEAKER_01: Right.
24:03
SPEAKER_01: What fans should expect.
24:04
SPEAKER_00: Right.
24:04
SPEAKER_01: Because he went two and ten.
24:06
SPEAKER_01: Now we have to be happy with six and six.
24:09
SPEAKER_00: Right.
24:09
SPEAKER_01: And that's that that's just not how it fucking works.
24:12
SPEAKER_01: Well, no, no, no.
24:13
SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying now it's like I if you just want like look, dude, I don't want to ever fucking tank.
24:22
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
24:23
SPEAKER_00: I want to win every damn game.
24:25
SPEAKER_00: Because you're still emotionally invested in it.
24:27
SPEAKER_00: Right.
24:28
SPEAKER_00: I get what you're saying.
24:29
SPEAKER_00: I get what you're saying, but I want to make a band, I want to make a damn bowl.
24:33
SPEAKER_00: All right.
24:33
SPEAKER_00: And all of them.
24:34
SPEAKER_00: And they're not good, they can't fire them, man.
24:38
SPEAKER_00: They can't.
24:39
SPEAKER_01: I mean, they can't.
24:43
SPEAKER_01: Dude, let me tell you something.
24:45
SPEAKER_01: If this guy goes wins three, four games this year, and they miss another bowl.
24:51
SPEAKER_00: Like, they will.
24:52
SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm saying, man.
24:53
SPEAKER_00: Like if he that happens, yes.
24:57
SPEAKER_00: But I still think I still think that it looks really bad right now.
25:01
SPEAKER_00: But if you look at the schedule, I think he can get some wins.
25:05
SPEAKER_01: There aren't many more teams that are gonna come in with less on that roster than Pitt.
25:11
SPEAKER_01: Wake Forest easily can do to you what Pitt just did.
25:15
SPEAKER_01: You might get Virginia Tech.
25:18
SPEAKER_01: So now you gotta hope that you're gonna you're gonna be able to get away.
25:20
SPEAKER_00: You gotta be Stanford, you gotta be Wake.
25:24
SPEAKER_00: The weight game, the weight game's looking a little bit tougher.
25:28
unknown: Yeah.
25:29
SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna lie.
25:30
SPEAKER_00: The weight games look too much.
25:31
SPEAKER_01: They got a better head coach.
25:32
SPEAKER_01: They got a better head coach, the guy that won it, Washington State.
25:36
SPEAKER_01: Like there's no reason to expect that it's gonna be any different than the pit game.
25:42
SPEAKER_00: You know, Stanford looks horrible, but I'm really looking forward to that, actually.
25:46
SPEAKER_00: I'm looking forward to what we do against Wayforce.
25:52
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean that that's probably what Six Wins hinges on.
25:55
SPEAKER_01: Assuming that you can go out to Palo Alto on a late, yeah.
26:01
SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
26:06
SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
26:07
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
26:08
SPEAKER_02: But it's like for me, I'm you know, all I see six wins at is hey, we yeah, yeah.
26:17
SPEAKER_01: It's his life rap.
26:18
SPEAKER_00: It's a chance for him and Mike Alfred.
26:21
SPEAKER_00: Like, that's what I that's what I'm saying.
26:22
SPEAKER_00: It's like, dude, you gotta get like I because if you look at it at the end of the year, even if you if you win six, no matter how it happens, no matter how it happens, you'll be like, hey, look, we won two last year, we tripled our win total.
26:39
SPEAKER_00: Okay, right.
26:39
SPEAKER_00: So like our win total.
26:41
SPEAKER_00: So like if you're him, you have to get this team focused.
26:45
SPEAKER_00: You have to rally this team.
26:47
SPEAKER_00: You have to get six and do that.
26:50
SPEAKER_00: You have to get seven.
26:51
SPEAKER_00: You gotta go for seven.
26:53
SPEAKER_01: Right.
26:54
SPEAKER_01: But even if you did that.
26:56
SPEAKER_00: But what am I saying?
26:57
SPEAKER_00: They can't even win a damn conference game.
26:59
unknown: Right.
27:00
SPEAKER_00: Like, all this is assuming they can beat anybody in the ACC, which they won't.
27:06
SPEAKER_01: No, they won't.
27:08
SPEAKER_01: Like this was a freshman quarterback.
27:14
SPEAKER_01: A freshman quarterback just came and knifed you up.
27:17
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
27:18
SPEAKER_00: It was easy, man.
27:22
SPEAKER_00: It was too easy.
27:24
SPEAKER_00: They don't have any dudes, man.
27:26
SPEAKER_01: They got no dudes.
27:27
SPEAKER_01: They're not getting any nothing coming in the in the pipeline.
27:31
SPEAKER_01: You know, there's not a bunch of elite transfers that he's gonna bring in.
27:34
SPEAKER_00: They got no dudes.
27:36
SPEAKER_00: It looks like that the game plan, the one game plan Tony White had, he worked on forever.
27:44
SPEAKER_00: And he had this game plan against Alabama, and that's it.
27:47
SPEAKER_00: Because ever since then, it's been shit.
27:50
SPEAKER_00: And then they went out, they went out and beat the shit out of nobody's and got their confidence really high, and they've been nothing.
27:59
SPEAKER_00: They've been just yeah, I mean, that's they've just been getting beat and outcoached by I would say subpar talent.
28:10
SPEAKER_01: Pitt lost to West Virginia.
28:12
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
28:12
SPEAKER_01: Rich Russell.
28:13
SPEAKER_00: They're getting beat by the worst players.
28:16
SPEAKER_00: They're getting beat by coaches that shouldn't be get beating them.
28:22
SPEAKER_01: Well, Marduzzi, a guy that's a seven and five career coach, coming in here and just making you look like shit.
28:29
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
28:30
SPEAKER_01: Like it's it's uh whatever.
28:36
SPEAKER_01: You know, if you if you can hold on and and and deal with a few more six wins at Max.
28:42
SPEAKER_01: Well, I had a feeling, man.
28:43
SPEAKER_01: Lower the biggest.
28:44
SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie.
28:45
SPEAKER_00: In the back of my head, even when they lost to Miami, I was like, I think they're gonna lose the pit.
28:50
SPEAKER_00: Like I in the back of my head, I was like, this is gonna go.
28:53
SPEAKER_00: And then they're gonna, I'm like, they're gonna have to keep fighting, and it's gonna have to be a season like 2022.
29:00
SPEAKER_00: If you're any kind of optimist, you have to hope for that.
29:04
SPEAKER_00: You gotta hope that Castellanos rallies and and and gets some sort of rhythm, and they can win some games, and they can be like, hey, we made a bowl.
29:15
SPEAKER_00: He's Castellanos is coming back next year.
29:19
SPEAKER_00: Maybe we can get some talent and get yeah, I know.
29:22
SPEAKER_00: It's pathetic.
29:24
SPEAKER_00: But that's the that's what you're that's what that's your best shot.
29:28
SPEAKER_01: Wait, what are you gonna what are you gonna do on defense?
29:30
SPEAKER_01: Like, how are you gonna stop anybody?
29:32
SPEAKER_00: No, you can't.
29:34
SPEAKER_01: You can't.
29:35
SPEAKER_01: You got no pass rush, you have no linebackers.
29:38
SPEAKER_00: There's no pass rush.
29:40
SPEAKER_01: The middle of the field is wide open all the time.
29:43
SPEAKER_00: Like we're not Yeah, there's no defense.
29:48
SPEAKER_01: There's no defense, man.
29:50
SPEAKER_01: And I feel bad for William Floyd that he's gotta sit up there and call these games.
29:55
SPEAKER_01: Because you can hear the disgust in his voice.
29:58
SPEAKER_01: Like, dude, what what What is this shit that we're trying out every week?
30:05
SPEAKER_01: Like I did not think that he would go out and bring somebody in and put a worse product in Adolder for half the time he was here.
30:15
SPEAKER_01: But dude that's what you're seeing the last three weeks.
30:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
30:23
SPEAKER_00: Right.
30:24
SPEAKER_00: It like hit it hit lightning in a bottle the first week.
30:27
SPEAKER_00: It's been shit since you gave him to prepare.
30:33
SPEAKER_01: That was a guessing game.
30:35
SPEAKER_01: They played really well.
30:36
SPEAKER_01: Alabama did not play well.
30:38
SPEAKER_00: Right.
30:39
SPEAKER_01: If they had to play again, the game wouldn't be close the way the two teams were playing.
30:43
SPEAKER_01: I mean it's it's a good thing.
30:44
SPEAKER_00: I think it was just like, yeah, I think Al I think Alabama wasn't ready.
30:49
SPEAKER_01: Alright, and you know, same thing on the other side of the ball, dude.
30:52
SPEAKER_01: Gus is not some from offensive savant.
30:56
SPEAKER_01: It's very basic offense.
30:59
SPEAKER_00: They didn't know, they didn't know who to watch out for.
31:03
SPEAKER_00: They didn't know because once they would have they would have done exactly what Miami did.
31:10
SPEAKER_00: They would have done the same thing.
31:11
SPEAKER_00: It would have been exactly what Miami did.
31:14
SPEAKER_00: Exactly what Pitt did.
31:20
SPEAKER_01: Right.
31:22
SPEAKER_01: It pretty much all boils down to is how bad is this season gonna be?
31:28
SPEAKER_01: If it's fucking really, really, really bad, then you just gotta hope that they go ahead and pull the plug.
31:34
SPEAKER_00: Well, that's the thing.
31:38
SPEAKER_01: He's definitely not getting fired if he makes a ball.
31:41
SPEAKER_00: Well that yeah.
31:42
SPEAKER_00: You can't fire him, but two and ten.
31:47
SPEAKER_00: If you want four and eight fired, you need him to lose out.
31:52
SPEAKER_01: Pretty much.
31:54
SPEAKER_00: And that's not I'm not saying that's that's that could definitely happen.
31:58
SPEAKER_00: Which I never thought would happen.
32:00
SPEAKER_00: It's what's so sad.
32:02
SPEAKER_00: That's definitely possible.
32:04
SPEAKER_00: They could lose the worst at Stanford.
32:07
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they could definitely lose at Stanford.
32:10
SPEAKER_01: Right.
32:11
SPEAKER_01: Why not?
32:12
SPEAKER_01: I mean, you know, you can't.
32:13
SPEAKER_00: Is that the worst team they're gonna play?
32:15
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, probably from a roster standpoint.
32:18
SPEAKER_01: Is next week.
32:19
SPEAKER_00: So if you can't win next week, then you play as a head coach.
32:24
SPEAKER_00: Then you play Wake at home.
32:26
SPEAKER_00: Then you uh then you go on the road against Clemson, then you have Virginia.
32:31
SPEAKER_01: You got Wake at home with a with a mobile quarterback.
32:34
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, then you got Clemson with a mobile quarterback, Virginia Tech with a mobile quarterback, NC State on the road, and then down at Gainesville, like, dude, you're not first of all, you're not winning any road games against those teams.
32:48
SPEAKER_01: The only shot you got at a road win is next week.
32:52
SPEAKER_01: And playing home games doesn't mean shit.
32:56
SPEAKER_00: You know, like this this is a good one.
33:13
SPEAKER_00: I think we gotta go, man.
33:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
33:17
SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I honestly I think it should cost the athletic director his job as well.
33:24
SPEAKER_01: We had to go.
33:26
SPEAKER_01: Our rod was here.
33:27
SPEAKER_01: We gotta uh shuttle.
33:30
SPEAKER_00: Well, we gotta get on out of here.
33:32
SPEAKER_00: We gotta shuttle to get.
33:35
SPEAKER_00: But Jimmy says Alfred needs to be toast too.
33:39
SPEAKER_01: Well, I'd fucking shit can't come now.
33:41
SPEAKER_00: Well, I just I mean, it's all about money with him.
33:44
SPEAKER_00: He's just all about ratings and money and trying to like if anything, it's almost like special project.
33:49
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he makes you think we got some great team.
33:53
SPEAKER_00: That's but he's just shit.
33:56
SPEAKER_00: He just he all he does is put like fucking catch up on a turd, you know.
34:01
SPEAKER_01: It's just yeah, I mean, it's he's a baseball guy.
34:05
SPEAKER_00: Right.
34:06
SPEAKER_01: Again, like if we didn't have two alums that were you know thought highly of in coaching ranks, like would would we have coaches worth a shit in either one of those sports?
34:17
SPEAKER_01: I don't think so.
34:19
SPEAKER_00: No.
34:19
SPEAKER_01: Women's basketball has an alum.
34:22
SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, yeah, I mean that's yeah, you can't not that that that can't be a detriment to the code to the A B, but I I think what you're talking about here is what you just have to get to is right in front of your face.
34:42
SPEAKER_00: It's Mike Norvell and the contract he gave him after 2023.
34:46
SPEAKER_00: And it was like, hey man, you didn't have to give them that big of a contract, and it's almost like you still have to put that money down.
34:53
SPEAKER_00: Go ahead and let them walk.
34:55
SPEAKER_00: We're at Florida State, right?
34:58
SPEAKER_00: You can if you know what you're doing and you know how to fucking recruit and you know how to coach ball, you can win here.
35:07
SPEAKER_00: And we can find somebody that does that.
35:10
SPEAKER_00: And we're not gonna fucking bend over backwards for somebody that's from Texas.
35:16
SPEAKER_01: No, not somebody that's from the city.
35:18
SPEAKER_00: But that's what we did.
35:21
SPEAKER_00: We bent over backwards and we signed up for the rear and the steer.
35:27
SPEAKER_00: But you can give you a couple of years.
35:28
SPEAKER_01: You can give him a huge contract, man.
35:30
SPEAKER_01: $10 million a year.
35:32
SPEAKER_01: But that buyout money is.
35:34
SPEAKER_01: That's where I meant.
35:35
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's where he he got duped.
35:38
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
35:39
SPEAKER_00: He didn't want to read it.
35:40
SPEAKER_00: He didn't got lazy.
35:41
SPEAKER_00: He didn't want to read it.
35:42
SPEAKER_00: He just wanted to buy in.
35:44
SPEAKER_00: He won, he was like, Man, I he bought in.
35:48
SPEAKER_00: He got duped.
35:51
SPEAKER_00: He didn't go.
35:54
SPEAKER_00: He didn't he didn't treat Norvell like he treated the stock, the women's soccer coach.
35:58
SPEAKER_01: Oh, a woman's soccer coach left on his own.
36:01
SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying.
36:02
SPEAKER_00: All right, we'll watch it.
36:04
SPEAKER_01: He didn't want to work for Alfred.
36:06
SPEAKER_00: We'll react to it, and we'll talk to you next time.
36:09
SPEAKER_00: Right here on the North Florida Sports Network.
