- 2:57Speaker 2: Defensive lineman out of Tech was ejected. Napier said today
- 3:04Speaker 2: we spent quite a bit with him yesterday. I think

- 3:16Speaker 2: usf Napier's job is getting hotter. Brian Kelly at LSU,
- 3:24Speaker 2: who hosts Florida this week, says, it's craziness. He's a

- 3:32Speaker 2: what his strengths and weaknesses are.
- 3:34Speaker 1: You can see it on film.
- 3:35Speaker 2: He's building a culture that is fit to his eye
- 3:38Speaker 2: in terms of what he wants to do.
- 3:41Speaker 1: He's doing it his way. That's awesome.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Of course, Kelly is just hoping Florida is bad on

- 4:33Speaker 2: Sarksian cut him off. According to who Arch said that
- 4:38Speaker 2: to you, The reporter told sark he hadn't spoken to Manning,
- 4:42Speaker 2: adding that videos on social media appeared to show the
- 4:47Speaker 2: quarterback grimacing in pain. Sarkesian's answer, I've never filmed any
- 4:54Speaker 2: of you guys when you're using the bathroom, so I
- 4:57Speaker 2: don't know what faces you make when you're doing that.

- 6:20Speaker 1: He won as a player with the Orioles.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Thomas Boswell of The Washington Post, on his last job
- 6:29Speaker 2: as manager of the Nationals, wrote of Davy Johnson, he
- 6:33Speaker 2: was one of the most He was one of the
- 6:35Speaker 2: smartest and most stubborn, loyal and insubordinate, independent and opinionated,
- 6:43Speaker 2: honest and funny, patient and multifaceted.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Men that baseball has ever seen.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Tomorrow, on the program, I will replay an interview when
- 6:56Speaker 2: Davy Johnson was given the Letterman's Associate Jation Award three
- 7:01Speaker 2: years ago.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It is terrific. He was terrific.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I've talked to him on several occasions. Davy Johnson was,
- 7:11Speaker 2: in fact unique and passed away over the weekend. Again,
- 7:18Speaker 2: I will replay that interview that we did with him
- 7:22Speaker 2: on the program tomorrow. So phone the neighbors and wake
- 7:27Speaker 2: the kids. Also, tomorrow we'll have a high school report.
- 7:33Speaker 2: We'll have Mallory with us. On Wednesday. Bill O'Reilly will

- 7:48Speaker 1: book out. We will visit with Bill.
- 7:50Speaker 2: O'Reilly on the show on Wednesday, So that's a little
- 7:55Speaker 2: bit about what's ahead.
- 7:58Speaker 1: We're gonna kick all of that off. We're going to
- 8:00Speaker 1: get all of that started.
- 8:02Speaker 2: We are going to give away a terrific prize to
- 8:07Speaker 2: our week, to Friday's fearless winner when we come back
- 8:12Speaker 2: after the final lap. Brought to you today by Chad

- 8:50Speaker 6: NASCAR Cup Series Race recap from Worldwide Technology Raceway at Gateway.
- 8:55Speaker 7: I'm Kerrie Murphy.
- 8:56Speaker 6: Denny Hamlin wins it from the poll for his fifth
- 8:59Speaker 6: win this season, fifty ninth career win, putting him one
- 9:02Speaker 6: win away from Kevin Harvick.
- 9:04Speaker 8: Yeah, we were able to, you know, very similar last week,
- 9:06Speaker 8: made some great adjustments from kind of where we were
- 9:09Speaker 8: in practice, and again that you know, there's so much
- 9:12Speaker 8: that's different from practice to qualifying.
- 9:15Speaker 9: When you when you're going for one.
- 9:17Speaker 8: Lap, air pressures at a track like this is dramatically different. Certainly,
- 9:20Speaker 8: the intensity in which I drive is a lot different
- 9:24Speaker 8: in practice than what I do in qualifying. So they
- 9:26Speaker 8: gave me all the all the adjustments that I needed
- 9:28Speaker 8: to have a really good handling car there, and you
- 9:30Speaker 8: know we're able to capitalize on it.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it wasn't a ton different, truthfully.
- 9:34Speaker 8: Obviously the stagger was the biggest thing that changed in
- 9:38Speaker 8: this tire or this combination coming to this track. But truthfully,
- 9:42Speaker 8: over last year, the teams, you know, offset that difference
- 9:46Speaker 8: with their setups, and I feel as though I couldn't
- 9:49Speaker 8: have told you one way or another.
- 9:50Speaker 7: It certainly was.
- 9:51Speaker 8: Not as dramatic as some other tire changes that we've
- 9:53Speaker 8: had at other racetracks.
- 9:55Speaker 6: Joe Gibbs Racing has now won the first two races
- 9:57Speaker 6: of the twenty twenty five playoffs. Pace brisco was second,
- 10:01Speaker 6: followed by Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, and Joey Logano rounds
- 10:04Speaker 6: out the top five. Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin are
- 10:07Speaker 6: locked into the next round of the playoffs as the
- 10:09Speaker 6: NASCAR Cup Series heads to Bristol Motor Speedway. Check it
- 10:12Speaker 6: out Saturday night under the Lights, seven thirty pm Eastern
- 10:15Speaker 6: on USA.

- 11:43Speaker 2: He won nine out of ten this last week. He
- 11:48Speaker 2: was the closest in the tiebreaker and he was the winner.
- 11:56Speaker 1: What did he win? Oh, it was his lucky day.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I'm just going to tell you.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Lucas wins two tickets to the first presentation of Opus
- 12:07Speaker 2: of the Year Writers in the Sky at Rutger Theater
- 12:11Speaker 2: Wednesday night. Wednesday night, there's still a few tickets left Wednesday,
- 12:18Speaker 2: a very few tickets left for Thursday. But congratulations, congratulations
- 12:23Speaker 2: to Lucas Soship for being the week two winner. Now
- 12:29Speaker 2: listen to me and tell your friends and neighbors, because
- 12:34Speaker 2: it looked like a lot of you do what I do.
- 12:37Speaker 2: When you get your email of the morning reminding you
- 12:40Speaker 2: that the picks are up, you make your picks.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Well, I screwed up.
- 12:44Speaker 2: It was pointed out by an alert listener that on
- 12:47Speaker 2: game eight I had Florida at Ole Miss.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Now Florida's at LSU.
- 12:52Speaker 2: The game eight game is Arkansas at Ole Miss.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Okay, you feel me?
- 12:59Speaker 2: So you should have gotten those of you had already
- 13:02Speaker 2: made your picks a second email saying now your picks
- 13:06Speaker 2: are ready. So if you made your picks before eleven
- 13:09Speaker 2: thirty this morning, you got to go back and make
- 13:12Speaker 2: your picks. You hear what I'm saying, and don't be
- 13:15Speaker 2: calling me because I'm going to tell you this all
- 13:18Speaker 2: week long that you have to repick if you picked
- 13:24Speaker 2: before eleven thirty this morning, I went in. I repicked
- 13:29Speaker 2: anm Notre Dame's a tiebreaker Flugerville Connolly at Rutter College
- 13:35Speaker 2: Station at Anderson, Georgia at Tennessee, Clemson at Georgia Tech,
- 13:42Speaker 2: Colorado at Houston, USC at Purdue, Arkansas at Ole, Miss,
- 13:49Speaker 2: South Florida at Miami, and the Giants and the Cowboys.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I didn't put the Texans on because they're Monday night.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Okay, so they didn't go on.
- 14:02Speaker 2: The Cowboys didn't go on last week because they were
- 14:04Speaker 2: Thursday night.
- 14:05Speaker 1: We have a Monday to Friday game.
- 14:08Speaker 2: You have until five o'clock Friday afternoon to make your picks.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Friday afternoon at five o'clock. Okay, make your ten picks
- 14:19Speaker 2: and you can win valuable prizes, just like Lucasosha did.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Today.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest is a division of Sports Talk.
- 14:31Speaker 2: It is America's most loved football pick them contest, and
- 14:34Speaker 2: it has brought to you by Chad Jones Law and
- 14:37Speaker 2: Swerdemann Flooring. All Right, I just figured out that there's
- 14:46Speaker 2: probably a few of you younger people out there. Well,
- 14:52Speaker 2: you know, mission impossible because of Tom Cruise, right. I mean,
- 14:55Speaker 2: he's done about seven of those, but you and I
- 14:58Speaker 2: haven't seen the latest one, and I need to.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Because I liked him. It's pretty good. Yeah, lots of action.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Tom does crazy stuff, you know, diving out of planes
- 15:09Speaker 2: and stuff like that, jumping off cliffs.
- 15:13Speaker 1: But that was originally a TV show a long time ago.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I think it was in the sixties.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Actually, it was a pretty cool TV show. But that's
- 15:24Speaker 2: where the theme came from years ago. Your mission, should
- 15:29Speaker 2: you decide to accept it, really like the TV show.
- 15:32Speaker 2: But I know there's a lot of you that don't
- 15:34Speaker 2: know what I'm talking about.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Just think Tom Cruise and that's fine, Okay. I don't
- 15:39Speaker 1: know how I got there.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Mike Elko visited with the media of the day, as
- 15:43Speaker 2: he does every Monday of game week. We carry that
- 15:47Speaker 2: live here on the Zone at one thirty every Monday.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I've been told that a few of you still have
- 15:55Speaker 2: jobs out there and so you're not able to listen
- 16:00Speaker 2: to our live coverage on Monday afternoons. So as a
- 16:05Speaker 2: service to you, the listener, I'm going to replay not all,
- 16:10Speaker 2: but part of what Coach Elko had to say today a.
- 16:14Speaker 12: Little bit more down the field, which was good to see. Defensively,
- 16:18Speaker 12: we were off fishing on ten of thirteen drives, and
- 16:21Speaker 12: that's obviously a good number. You know, Obviously the two
- 16:27Speaker 12: drives that you give up, you're going to be very
- 16:28Speaker 12: critical of the mistakes that were made and do things
- 16:31Speaker 12: that you got to do to try to.
- 16:32Speaker 13: Get them cleaned up. But I thought by and large,
- 16:34Speaker 13: we took positive steps forward.
- 16:36Speaker 12: Defensively, We were really good on third down through the
- 16:39Speaker 12: majority of the game, which was another area that we
- 16:41Speaker 12: certainly wanted to improve and get better at. And you know,
- 16:44Speaker 12: in special teams we hit two big returns again in
- 16:47Speaker 12: the kickoff return game, and so I thought we took
- 16:49Speaker 12: strides across the board from a Player of the week
- 16:53Speaker 12: standpoint Defensive Scout team Player of the Week was not
- 16:56Speaker 12: a bo To Bodhia Wusu. Offensive Scout team was Braw
- 17:00Speaker 12: Special Teams was Lane Gurky, so happy for those guys.
- 17:04Speaker 12: Our Offensive Lineman of the Week was Mark Nebu. I
- 17:06Speaker 12: thought that was his most complete game, played three different
- 17:09Speaker 12: positions over the course of the game and really added
- 17:12Speaker 12: a lot of toughness and firmness in there.
- 17:15Speaker 13: Defensive Lineman of the Week was TJ Serci.
- 17:17Speaker 12: I thought he did a really really good job in
- 17:19Speaker 12: the run game physically holding the point of attack, which
- 17:22Speaker 12: was important for us. And then our Players of the
- 17:26Speaker 12: game offensively was Marcel Reid again another day where he
- 17:29Speaker 12: had over three hundred yards combined total offense, accounted for
- 17:34Speaker 12: another four touchdowns, didn't turn the football over, so we're
- 17:37Speaker 12: really happy with the way he played. Defensively, Cashius Hall,
- 17:41Speaker 12: who was also the SEC Defensive Lineman of the week
- 17:44Speaker 12: again we hit on three sacks in one game is
- 17:46Speaker 12: really impressive. Three sacks in one drive is even more impressive.
- 17:50Speaker 12: Consecutive plays is even another level.
- 17:52Speaker 13: And then Special Teams Player of.
- 17:54Speaker 12: The Week was Terry Bussey for the job that he
- 17:56Speaker 12: did returning kicks, and so excited for where we are
- 18:00Speaker 12: and now obviously turn our attention to the challenge that
- 18:03Speaker 12: we've kind of been waiting for and an opportunity to
- 18:05Speaker 12: go on the road and play a really, really good
- 18:08Speaker 12: Notre Dame team up in South Bend. And so we're
- 18:10Speaker 12: excited for the opportunity, excited for the stage, and certainly
- 18:14Speaker 12: looking forward to a great week of preparation and getting.
- 18:16Speaker 13: On the road.
- 18:17Speaker 12: And then before you guys ask, we'll be finding entry wise,
- 18:21Speaker 12: Mark and Marcell will be fine.
- 18:22Speaker 13: So that's where we're at.
- 18:23Speaker 12: So from there we'll open it up to questions.
- 18:30Speaker 13: How do he coach? Howdy?
- 18:33Speaker 14: So you can't talk about Notre Dame without talking about Rudy.
- 18:37Speaker 14: I watched it again last night, and coach Parsiging in
- 18:40Speaker 14: the movie says that sometimes he could put Rudy's heart
- 18:44Speaker 14: in some of his player's body. Have you during your
- 18:47Speaker 14: coaching career have you ever had kind of an undersize
- 18:51Speaker 14: guy that was just had a lot of heart and
- 18:53Speaker 14: you wish he could put his heart on some of
- 18:55Speaker 14: your player's body.
- 18:56Speaker 12: Oh gosh, Yeah, from the places I've been, we've had
- 18:59Speaker 12: a lot of them over the years.
- 19:01Speaker 13: And you know, just you know.
- 19:03Speaker 12: The blue collar kid who maybe doesn't have the god
- 19:07Speaker 12: given athleticism but kind of gets every ounce of energy out.
- 19:11Speaker 13: Of who he is.
- 19:13Speaker 12: I'd be remiss if I started running off names and
- 19:16Speaker 12: forget some. But you know, from Bowling Green to Wake Forest,
- 19:20Speaker 12: we were kind of a team built on those types
- 19:22Speaker 12: of guys. And so, yeah, there's been a lot of
- 19:24Speaker 12: those over my time in coaching, for sure.
- 19:26Speaker 15: Coach all the way in the coach.
- 19:30Speaker 2: I realize the teams are different, the players are different,
- 19:33Speaker 2: But what similarities do you see with this Notre Dame
- 19:38Speaker 2: team versus the one you played a year ago?
- 19:42Speaker 13: You know, obviously the schemes are similar.
- 19:45Speaker 12: You know, I think you know they're they're pretty well
- 19:48Speaker 12: entrenched and who they are and what they do.
- 19:50Speaker 13: We're pretty well entrenched and who we are and what
- 19:53Speaker 13: we do.
- 19:53Speaker 12: And so that's always an exciting chess match when you
- 19:56Speaker 12: go into a game like that and you know the
- 19:58Speaker 12: other team.
- 19:59Speaker 13: The last year there was a lot more unknown.
- 20:02Speaker 12: It was coach den Brock's first game there as an OC,
- 20:04Speaker 12: and we didn't know exactly what it would all look like.
- 20:06Speaker 13: It was our first game as.
- 20:08Speaker 12: A staff, and so I think there's a little bit
- 20:10Speaker 12: more of that chess match that will go on, and
- 20:13Speaker 12: that's always interesting, you know.
- 20:16Speaker 13: I think that's kind of where it starts. Coach second
- 20:19Speaker 13: Row all in.
- 20:21Speaker 16: Your coach, excuse me, obviously, you know we understand it's
- 20:27Speaker 16: not a conference game, it's only three games in. There's
- 20:30Speaker 16: still still big season go. But I wonder, just in
- 20:33Speaker 16: your opinion, how big for this program for ever this
- 20:36Speaker 16: season is this game? And are you the type of
- 20:39Speaker 16: coach that says, hey, every opponent's saying on nameless face
- 20:42Speaker 16: this or do you have an issue of saying, hey,
- 20:44Speaker 16: telling you guys, this is different?
- 20:46Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean.
- 20:49Speaker 12: It, it'd be naive to not think that our kids
- 20:53Speaker 12: understand the magnitude of a top ten matchup on the road.
- 20:56Speaker 12: You know, going to play a top ten opponent on
- 20:58Speaker 12: the road. So from that perspective, obviously this is a
- 21:01Speaker 12: big opportunity. How big is it relative to this season?
- 21:05Speaker 12: It's as big as every game we play, because you know,
- 21:10Speaker 12: win or lose, there's going to be more to play
- 21:12Speaker 12: and regardless of the outcome, the next one is going
- 21:14Speaker 12: to be just important and so is the next one.
- 21:16Speaker 12: So from that perspective, I don't see it different. But
- 21:19Speaker 12: from the standpoint of is this a big stage, big opportunity,
- 21:24Speaker 12: prime time, Yeah, for sure.
- 21:26Speaker 13: It'd be naive to say it isn't.
- 21:28Speaker 17: Coach to the.
- 21:29Speaker 12: Left Alex two questions.
- 21:31Speaker 18: First, just as Mario had any kind of like physical transformation,
- 21:36Speaker 18: and do with his weight or his gains over the offseason.
- 21:39Speaker 13: Yeah, a little bit.
- 21:40Speaker 12: I think he's certainly trained at a more consistent level,
- 21:44Speaker 12: and part of that is just his maturity, going from
- 21:48Speaker 12: being a true freshman, which he was last year to
- 21:51Speaker 12: now kind of understanding again we talked a lot about
- 21:54Speaker 12: with Marcel, but very similar for him too, Like I
- 21:56Speaker 12: think he took a pounding as a true freshman in
- 21:59Speaker 12: the SEC and I think has done some things to
- 22:02Speaker 12: physically improve his body to put a little bit more
- 22:04Speaker 12: strength and weight on there. I think he still has
- 22:07Speaker 12: got areas to grow and improve, for sure, but yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 12: I would think he has put some good weight on
- 22:11Speaker 12: and looks better than he did when he got.
- 22:13Speaker 17: Here, for sure.
- 22:14Speaker 18: And then you've talked about the good things that you've
- 22:15Speaker 18: seen from your passing game, Just what do you see
- 22:17Speaker 18: from Notre Dame secondary going into this matchup.
- 22:20Speaker 12: Yeah, it's one of the most talented groups in the
- 22:22Speaker 12: country for sure. Leonard Moore as a kid that we
- 22:25Speaker 12: were very familiar with. We tried really hard to get
- 22:27Speaker 12: him at Duke and wound up choosing Notre Dame and
- 22:30Speaker 12: obviously had a really really good true freshman year for
- 22:32Speaker 12: them last year. And Christian Gray is the kid on
- 22:35Speaker 12: the other side who we played against last year and
- 22:38Speaker 12: is another really really talented corner. And so you know,
- 22:41Speaker 12: they play a lot of man coverage, they play it
- 22:44Speaker 12: really really well and because they have really talented players there.
- 22:47Speaker 19: Coach front right, Travis Hey, coach, you know this game
- 22:51Speaker 19: was scheduled, this home and home was scheduled in twenty fourteen.
- 22:54Speaker 19: It's like the only sport in the world that schedules
- 22:56Speaker 19: that far out. What's the pros and cons of knowing
- 22:59Speaker 19: that a game like this is coming down the line.
- 23:04Speaker 12: I don't know as a coach if it means a
- 23:07Speaker 12: whole lot. To be honest with you, I think these
- 23:09Speaker 12: matchups are really good for us. They're good opportunities to
- 23:12Speaker 12: get on big stages early in the year. I enjoy
- 23:15Speaker 12: these matchups. I enjoyed the Clemson matchup back in eighteen
- 23:18Speaker 12: and nineteen when I was here, we were part of that.
- 23:22Speaker 13: I don't know. I don't know how much it helps
- 23:24Speaker 13: you as a coach to have them on.
- 23:26Speaker 12: I have no idea who we play four years from now,
- 23:29Speaker 12: so it's not like that gives me any like, you know,
- 23:32Speaker 12: excitement or anything like that. But I think you're great
- 23:35Speaker 12: for the fans, and obviously in order to get these
- 23:37Speaker 12: types of matchups, you've got a schedule. I'm very far
- 23:39Speaker 12: out in advance, and so I will hopefully continue to
- 23:42Speaker 12: do that as we move forward.
- 23:43Speaker 19: It's crazy think about that twenty fourteen, it was the
- 23:45Speaker 19: first year of the playoff. There wasn't transfer, But like
- 23:48Speaker 19: how much the sport has changed since. Maybe this game
- 23:51Speaker 19: was put on the schedule.
- 23:52Speaker 13: For sure, And the irony of it all is Chad Klunder.
- 23:55Speaker 12: Who is our chief of staff here was the chief
- 23:58Speaker 12: of staff at Notre Dame that scheduled the game. And
- 24:00Speaker 12: so yeah, a lot a lot changes in life and
- 24:03Speaker 12: that amount of time from the time the game is
- 24:05Speaker 12: scheduled to the time the game actually gets played.
- 24:08Speaker 15: And then we.
- 24:08Speaker 19: Mentioned you mentioned a couple of weeks ago, just never
- 24:11Speaker 19: having had gone back to a place that you coached.
- 24:12Speaker 19: What's the kind of the thoughts or emotions from your
- 24:15Speaker 19: perspective on heading back.
- 24:16Speaker 12: Yeah, I think in the role that I'm in, given
- 24:21Speaker 12: the magnitude of the game, I don't know how much
- 24:24Speaker 12: I'm thinking or contemplating that.
- 24:26Speaker 13: You know, obviously, the roster's difference, so.
- 24:28Speaker 12: There's not a lot of player carry over, and so
- 24:31Speaker 12: I think for me, obviously, I have a ton of
- 24:33Speaker 12: respect for the program, the tradition, the history that is
- 24:35Speaker 12: Notre Dame had a great year when I was there
- 24:39Speaker 12: last time, and it'll be it'll be exciting to go back,
- 24:43Speaker 12: for sure, but I don't know that the nostalgia is going.
- 24:45Speaker 20: To be there to the left Tony Coach when you
- 24:49Speaker 20: look at the film from week one to week two.
- 24:50Speaker 20: What were some of the differences you saw from your
- 24:52Speaker 20: run defense to let you be a little bit more
- 24:53Speaker 20: effective this week.
- 24:55Speaker 12: I just think we were a little bit more firm
- 24:59Speaker 12: and sound and what we were doing.
- 25:00Speaker 13: I thought we tackled better, you know.
- 25:03Speaker 12: I think they created some some misdirection trickery that was
- 25:08Speaker 12: was creative.
- 25:09Speaker 13: You know.
- 25:09Speaker 12: They hit some triple options, some different triple option looks,
- 25:12Speaker 12: and I thought those gave us a little bit of
- 25:13Speaker 12: trouble and we adjusted well to them. And so yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 12: I just thought we we looked a little bit more
- 25:19Speaker 12: solid and firm and how we played and how we tackled.
- 25:22Speaker 8: Coach to the right Christie.
- 25:25Speaker 21: Watching case play, it's easy to see why you like
- 25:27Speaker 21: him as a player, But I wonder are there what
- 25:29Speaker 21: are qualities about him as a person that you like
- 25:31Speaker 21: and that have allowed him to mesh so easily with
- 25:33Speaker 21: your team.
- 25:34Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 25:34Speaker 12: I think he's got a tremendous work ethic. I really
- 25:37Speaker 12: enjoy the way he competes day in and day out.
- 25:40Speaker 12: That really showed itself through the offseason as well. And
- 25:43Speaker 12: so there's a maturity about him that I really like.
- 25:47Speaker 12: He wants to be great that shows every day, which
- 25:50Speaker 12: is which is a really cool characteristic in a kid,
- 25:53Speaker 12: and I think he's a kid that that rises to moments,
- 25:56Speaker 12: and so, you know, his first time in Kyle Field,
- 25:59Speaker 12: his first big opportunities. I know this is going to
- 26:01Speaker 12: be his first big game for us, and so we're
- 26:04Speaker 12: excited to see him and see him go out there Saturday.
- 26:06Speaker 2: All right, that's part of what Coachelko had to say
- 26:10Speaker 2: and answering questions from the media today in advance of
- 26:15Speaker 2: the game on Saturday. We will spend quite a bit
- 26:19Speaker 2: of time in the second hour with Rusty and Cease
- 26:23Speaker 2: talking about the game coming up.
- 26:26Speaker 1: The game just passed.
- 26:28Speaker 2: I'm just looking at the stats and they're reminded me
- 26:30Speaker 2: because it was forty four to twenty two. You don't
- 26:32Speaker 2: really think about it, but Jared Zergel missed an extra
- 26:35Speaker 2: point on Saturday. Can't do that in close games. Randy
- 26:43Speaker 2: Bond missed a field goal. Now it was fifty yards.
- 26:46Speaker 2: They brought him in because it was a longer field goal.
- 26:53Speaker 2: But men kickers today, I mean, the rains used to
- 26:58Speaker 2: be fifty at the outside right and if you hit something.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Over fifty that was huge.
- 27:05Speaker 2: In the NFL, the range has gotten sixty and beyond
- 27:09Speaker 2: and in college football the range has gone from fifty
- 27:15Speaker 2: creeping up towards sixty. There are guys out there there
- 27:18Speaker 2: letting them try sixty yard field goals right. In fact,
- 27:24Speaker 2: I saw a game, I don't know which game it was.
- 27:27Speaker 2: It was right down the middle. It missed by about
- 27:29Speaker 2: two yards. It came up short.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I don't remember. I watched a lot of.
- 27:33Speaker 2: College football again this weekend, and I'm not sure which one,
- 27:37Speaker 2: but that they tried a sixty yard field goal.
- 27:39Speaker 13: You're going, that's sixty yards.
- 27:40Speaker 2: But when the kid hit it great, it was just
- 27:44Speaker 2: it was just a little bit short. So things have
- 27:48Speaker 2: changed a little bit. And I you know, I've got
- 27:52Speaker 2: other thoughts on the game, and again I think we'll
- 27:55Speaker 2: save those for the writers just a little bit, the
- 27:59Speaker 2: pluses and the minuses. I still have some questions. I
- 28:04Speaker 2: do believe that some of those questions will be answered
- 28:08Speaker 2: Saturday that you cannot answer playing UTSA Utah State. You
- 28:14Speaker 2: can answer them playing Notre Dame. I think, because I
- 28:17Speaker 2: think Notre Dame is still very good. I think the
- 28:21Speaker 2: lines of scrimmage are good. I think their running backs
- 28:26Speaker 2: are good, their cornerbacks are elite, and so it'll be
- 28:35Speaker 2: interesting to see Marcel Read operate in that sphere. He
- 28:42Speaker 2: hasn't been tested a lot, he hasn't had a lot
- 28:45Speaker 2: of pressure. And again you've got to give some credit
- 28:50Speaker 2: to the offensive line, and you probably have to say
- 28:54Speaker 2: maybe the first two teams weren't athletic enough to get
- 28:58Speaker 2: home right. So there's a little bit of both going
- 29:00Speaker 2: on there. I don't remember Notre Dame blitzing a lot
- 29:06Speaker 2: against Miami that was a line of scrimmage game, because
- 29:11Speaker 2: both lines of scrimmage on both of those teams I
- 29:14Speaker 2: thought were very good. I thought at times they pushed
- 29:18Speaker 2: each other around. I don't think either team dominated either
- 29:23Speaker 2: line of scrimmage. But I just think they're two real
- 29:26Speaker 2: good teams. And you know in the SEC their line
- 29:31Speaker 2: of scrimmage games, and in my mind, Saturday Night is
- 29:36Speaker 2: a line of scrimmage game. Last year, Notre Dame ran
- 29:41Speaker 2: for a lot of yards. Jeremiah Love ran for a
- 29:43Speaker 2: lot of yards. I asked coach Elko today about Jeremiah
- 29:46Speaker 2: Love because I still don't know why he got like
- 29:51Speaker 2: five carries against Miami. I don't understand that he's your
- 29:55Speaker 2: best player. You have to get the ball in his hands,
- 29:58Speaker 2: and Elko is like, yeah, we expect to see a
- 30:00Speaker 2: lot of him on Saturday, and why would you think otherwise.
- 30:05Speaker 2: I'm still mystified, you know. I think they Notre Dame
- 30:09Speaker 2: through the first six or seven plays against Miami, they
- 30:13Speaker 2: have a and I guess they're trying to get their
- 30:16Speaker 2: freshman quarterback comfortable, you know, in that situation and that environment.
- 30:25Speaker 2: But man, got to get the ball in your best
- 30:28Speaker 2: player's hands. And you lose the game. It's okay if
- 30:32Speaker 2: you lose the game, but don't lose the game. What
- 30:35Speaker 2: three bullets and it's still left in your gun. You know.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I didn't look at all the aftermath or read you know,
- 30:45Speaker 2: Freeman's comments. And I'm a big Marcus Freeman fan. By
- 30:48Speaker 2: the way, what he's done I think is remarkable. They
- 30:52Speaker 2: played for the National championship last year. I don't think
- 30:55Speaker 2: they're quite as good this year. First of all, they
- 30:58Speaker 2: had a fifth or sixth year quarterback last year that
- 31:01Speaker 2: was good and handled all the situations. They have a
- 31:05Speaker 2: freshman quarterback this year. They cannot be good at that position.
- 31:09Speaker 2: I don't care how much tallent he has, but places
- 31:14Speaker 2: like Notre Dame lose players of the NFL every year
- 31:17Speaker 2: and they replace them right, and I suspect they've replaced
- 31:22Speaker 2: most of the players they've lost from last year fairly well.
- 31:27Speaker 2: But there's no way the quarterback position can be what
- 31:30Speaker 2: it was when Riley Leonard came here last year the
- 31:34Speaker 2: first game and he just got better right as the
- 31:37Speaker 2: season went on, with the system with the players around him.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Sefcheck Service Center is open until six o'clock this afternoon.

- 32:14Speaker 2: of that area.
- 32:16Speaker 1: You can drive right up get your oil change.

- 35:44Speaker 2: We're gonna hear from Florida football coach Billy Napier coming up.
- 35:48Speaker 2: But right now we're gonna hear from Cassius Howell, who
- 35:53Speaker 2: today was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Had a seventy eight point nine pass rush grade according
- 36:05Speaker 2: to Pro Football Focus, three consecutive sacks for the first
- 36:10Speaker 2: time in basically almost ten years. Wisconsin did it in
- 36:15Speaker 2: the holiday Bowl Back in twenty fifteen, Cassius Howell visited
- 36:19Speaker 2: with the media after the game on Saturday.
- 36:23Speaker 19: Cassius walked those through the the three sacks in a row?
- 36:27Speaker 19: What looks for they giving you? Is it something different
- 36:29Speaker 19: or how did you kind of manage get those three
- 36:31Speaker 19: in a row?
- 36:32Speaker 26: You know, I was just, you know, after the first
- 36:35Speaker 26: one happened, you know, I was starting to get you know, confident,
- 36:38Speaker 26: you know, within my pass rush.
- 36:40Speaker 15: So you know, they threw it again.
- 36:42Speaker 26: He had kind of like oversetting me, so that that
- 36:45Speaker 26: gave me the inside lane to you know, just shoot
- 36:48Speaker 26: the inside lane, and that's how I got the second one.
- 36:50Speaker 26: And then after that it was just like the third one.
- 36:54Speaker 26: I was like, man, if they pass it, who knows.
- 36:57Speaker 26: I was just in like a flow state at that point. So, yeah,
- 37:00Speaker 26: they threw it, and yeah, it's his history.
- 37:03Speaker 15: For real.
- 37:03Speaker 19: What were you thinking when you were laying on the
- 37:05Speaker 19: ground after that third one?
- 37:06Speaker 26: It's tired, It's for real. Came pressing on my chest.
- 37:11Speaker 26: I'm like, hold on, bro let me get up. But yeah,
- 37:13Speaker 26: and I was. I was really just tired. But yeah,
- 37:15Speaker 26: and I was definitely happy at the players that I
- 37:17Speaker 26: made though, for sure.
- 37:18Speaker 17: Stay on the front Road right to Tony.
- 37:20Speaker 20: Similarly that that cash is some you know, three sacks
- 37:22Speaker 20: in a game, never mind like sometimes in the season
- 37:25Speaker 20: hard it actually get home to the quarterback. How rewarding
- 37:28Speaker 20: was that for you to kind of have it in
- 37:29Speaker 20: succession like that?
- 37:30Speaker 26: Uh, It's definitely a reward rewarding feeling for sure, you know,
- 37:35Speaker 26: just you know, after you know, not getting the sack
- 37:37Speaker 26: in the uh the first game, and just you know,
- 37:39Speaker 26: just just uh honestly, just you know, the whole offseason,
- 37:44Speaker 26: you know, my whole journey that you know, I've taken
- 37:47Speaker 26: up to this point, you know, so it it it
- 37:49Speaker 26: just felt really good to you know, have some uh
- 37:52Speaker 26: some of that hard work, you know, some of them tries,
- 37:54Speaker 26: those tribulations be able to pay off.
- 37:55Speaker 15: So so that's really how I was feelings.
- 37:57Speaker 21: Go to middle ride to Christy and then I wan,
- 38:01Speaker 21: sorry to put you on the spot, but do you
- 38:03Speaker 21: think there's like a cool name for having three sacks
- 38:06Speaker 21: in a row? Could you think of anything what to
- 38:07Speaker 21: call it?
- 38:08Speaker 17: Uh?
- 38:09Speaker 19: Uh?
- 38:10Speaker 26: I mean a cool name? I I don't know the
- 38:14Speaker 26: triple sack game. I don't know, that's pretty bland, but
- 38:18Speaker 26: I mean I don't really.
- 38:18Speaker 21: Know honestly, Wait you you said you kind of were
- 38:21Speaker 21: kind of like in the zone, kind of like were
- 38:24Speaker 21: you were you at all able to think like, Hey,
- 38:26Speaker 21: I single handedly forced to punt. I mean that's so rare.
- 38:29Speaker 26: Uh you know, n not not necessarily, you know, I'm
- 38:32Speaker 26: just just how I'm just wired, you know, in my
- 38:35Speaker 26: brain when I'm on the field, is just you know,
- 38:37Speaker 26: next play, just make sure you know, uh, my alignment's
- 38:40Speaker 26: right assignment. Make sure I got my assignment, know what,
- 38:42Speaker 26: I what I got to do, my uh you know,
- 38:44Speaker 26: my job for the play, and just uh next play.
- 38:46Speaker 26: So I was really just you know, it didn't even
- 38:48Speaker 26: really hit me until you know, I was, you know,
- 38:51Speaker 26: on the sideline.
- 38:52Speaker 15: Everyone was typed me up. So yeah, that's really it.
- 38:55Speaker 17: There's the left side to Alex and then.
- 38:57Speaker 18: Mark Brad suggested triple jack Sack in the press spot
- 39:02Speaker 18: that I let that one. Anyway, what what did what'd
- 39:08Speaker 18: you think of the way you guys executed on H
- 39:10Speaker 18: run defense today?
- 39:11Speaker 13: After last week?
- 39:12Speaker 26: I feel like, you know, uh, after last week, you know,
- 39:14Speaker 26: they had had u we had gave up you know,
- 39:16Speaker 26: more more running yards than you know, we we felt
- 39:20Speaker 26: like we we should have gave up so uh, you know,
- 39:23Speaker 26: the emphasis coming into practice this week was you know,
- 39:25Speaker 26: to you know, just stop the run, you know, re
- 39:27Speaker 26: establish the line of scrimmage.
- 39:29Speaker 15: So I feel like.
- 39:30Speaker 26: This game against uh, compared to last game, I feel
- 39:33Speaker 26: like we, you know, we definitely took that next step.
- 39:35Speaker 26: You know, obviously, you know it wasn't perfect. You know,
- 39:37Speaker 26: obviously have areas for improvement, you know, in every aspect
- 39:41Speaker 26: as a defense, not just in the run, but uh,
- 39:43Speaker 26: every aspect.
- 39:44Speaker 15: But but I definitely feel.
- 39:45Speaker 26: Like we we we took that next step this week
- 39:48Speaker 26: as far as you know.
- 39:49Speaker 17: Run stopping say the left side with Mark.
- 39:53Speaker 13: Cashes.
- 39:54Speaker 14: Have you ever had three sacks in a row in
- 39:56Speaker 14: any game at any level including PlayStation.
- 40:00Speaker 26: The PlayStation maybe, uh, I don't know, maybe PlayStation, but
- 40:03Speaker 26: but in real life like me personally, nah, not not
- 40:06Speaker 26: that I can remember.
- 40:06Speaker 15: Maybe like a Little League game, but not not that
- 40:09Speaker 15: I can remember. No, that's probably the first time I
- 40:11Speaker 15: ever had that happen to me.
- 40:13Speaker 17: Alright, that's skill. The rights tide of hate sus.
- 40:15Speaker 27: Cash is what I what does it feel like to
- 40:18Speaker 27: get one sack? Much less to get two and then three?
- 40:22Speaker 19: Like?
- 40:22Speaker 27: Can you describe the emotion as kW it feels going
- 40:25Speaker 27: crazy for the first one, and it just gets.
- 40:27Speaker 13: Louder and louder. Yeah.
- 40:28Speaker 15: Uh, I mean, you know, at at after I got
- 40:31Speaker 15: the first one, you know, it was just kind of like,
- 40:33Speaker 15: you know, next play.
- 40:35Speaker 26: And then I got the second one, it was like, okay,
- 40:37Speaker 26: hold on, Like I kind of started to like feel
- 40:38Speaker 26: myself a little bit. Like I said before, I kind
- 40:40Speaker 26: of got a only way I could describe it as.
- 40:42Speaker 15: Like a f like a flow state.
- 40:44Speaker 26: So and I just told myself in my head like
- 40:47Speaker 26: if he throws it, like I'm.
- 40:49Speaker 15: Finna get home, like I gotta get home. So he
- 40:51Speaker 15: threw it. Then after I got home the third time,
- 40:54Speaker 15: it was just like.
- 40:55Speaker 26: I really I don't I don't wanna say I didn't
- 40:56Speaker 26: believe it, but it was like like dang, like damn,
- 40:59Speaker 26: I really just do that.
- 41:00Speaker 15: But uh, it was definitely a good feeling for sure.
- 41:02Speaker 28: Though.
- 41:03Speaker 17: Probably tell the front of Travis.
- 41:05Speaker 19: Is it is there one of the three that stands
- 41:06Speaker 19: at you as your your favorite or that you did
- 41:08Speaker 19: something impressive to yourself.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Uh?
- 41:10Speaker 15: Probably the second one. I feel like I'll just fry
- 41:13Speaker 15: 'em fried turkeys honestly, And and can you describe flow state?
- 41:18Speaker 15: What does that mean?
- 41:19Speaker 26: To you just kind of like were you not necessarily
- 41:22Speaker 26: like thinking about much. You just kind of you know,
- 41:25Speaker 26: letting your body, you know, do what your body does,
- 41:28Speaker 26: and you kind of just, I guess kind of like
- 41:30Speaker 26: go off, go off of just like pure instinct. So
- 41:33Speaker 26: that's just kind of how I felt like once I
- 41:34Speaker 26: got the play, it was.
- 41:35Speaker 15: Just like it's just let's go. You feel me, So
- 41:39Speaker 15: that that's kind of what flow state is.
- 41:41Speaker 17: Got a question right side middle.
- 41:43Speaker 26: When you're making big plays out there, what kind of
- 41:46Speaker 26: connection do you feel to the twelfth Man, to the
- 41:48Speaker 26: p to to the student body in the stance?
- 41:50Speaker 15: Yeah, definitely feel uh crazy connection.
- 41:53Speaker 13: You know.
- 41:54Speaker 26: Uh there's no other place you know, like the like
- 41:56Speaker 26: the twelfth Man in Coddle Field. So you know, I
- 41:58Speaker 26: a as I'm just making plays, you know, I just
- 42:00Speaker 26: I feel the energy you know, from from the twelfth
- 42:03Speaker 26: Man and the fans and stuff like that, and I
- 42:05Speaker 26: feel like, you know, I picked back off of their energy,
- 42:08Speaker 26: you know, which causes you know, I feel like allows
- 42:11Speaker 26: me to have a better chance at making more plays
- 42:14Speaker 26: and just kind of you know, it's kind of like
- 42:15Speaker 26: a positive domino effect, if that makes sense.
- 42:18Speaker 17: To go back behind the lights to Donna and then.
- 42:20Speaker 29: Tyler Cash just on Sam and Penno's fumble recovery just
- 42:25Speaker 29: looks like the whole defense going out there to celebrate.
- 42:28Speaker 29: How cool is it to see some of the younger
- 42:29Speaker 29: guys get some opportunities like that.
- 42:31Speaker 15: Yeah, man, Sam, that's my guy.
- 42:32Speaker 26: It was crazy because like Sam, he was talking to
- 42:36Speaker 26: coach Fence and stuff like that.
- 42:37Speaker 15: He was just saying like, man, just keep being keep
- 42:39Speaker 15: me in and then.
- 42:41Speaker 26: Just you know, just you know, saying's my guy. So
- 42:43Speaker 26: I just I just know, you know, he really wanted it.
- 42:46Speaker 26: And so I looked at TJ. Sercy and I was like, man,
- 42:48Speaker 26: if they put him in, watch he go get home.
- 42:51Speaker 26: And then boom they put him in. I just see
- 42:54Speaker 26: the crowd go go crazy, and I just see I
- 42:56Speaker 26: just see someone wrong with the ball.
- 42:57Speaker 15: I'm like, I just know Sam. So that was that
- 42:59Speaker 15: was a that was.
- 43:00Speaker 26: Really cool to see my guy, you know, uh you know,
- 43:03Speaker 26: go out there and make make a good play like that.
- 43:04Speaker 17: For sure, his favorite Tyler.
- 43:08Speaker 16: It cashes uh with the you know, competition of the season,
- 43:11Speaker 16: you know, ramping up now just.
- 43:12Speaker 8: How much confidence does uh y you ha do you
- 43:15Speaker 8: have in the defense?
- 43:16Speaker 15: Now with with a performance like this.
- 43:18Speaker 30: Uh.
- 43:18Speaker 26: Like I said, uh, I feel like just from the
- 43:20Speaker 26: last week to this week, you know, we we definitely
- 43:22Speaker 26: took an uh you know, positive strides in the right direction.
- 43:26Speaker 15: But uh, you know, I obviously going into you know,
- 43:28Speaker 15: Notre Dame.
- 43:29Speaker 26: You know last year, uh you know, they came here
- 43:31Speaker 26: in our house and uh you know and beat us.
- 43:34Speaker 15: So you know, we're obviously feeling really confident.
- 43:36Speaker 26: But uh, you know it's kind of I feel like, uh,
- 43:39Speaker 26: the the overall message is kind of like, you know,
- 43:41Speaker 26: just this next game, you know, we got a big game,
- 43:43Speaker 26: uh to go and play with with Notre Dame, and uh,
- 43:46Speaker 26: you know, we just gotta gotta work on finishing.
- 43:48Speaker 15: So I just feel like it's a work.
- 43:50Speaker 26: We're confident, but at the same time, you know, we're
- 43:52Speaker 26: uh don't wanna you know, sit in the win for
- 43:56Speaker 26: too long.
- 43:57Speaker 15: Uh so that way we could focus on another dame.
- 44:00Speaker 1: All right.
- 44:00Speaker 2: That's cash is how after the game, man, I got
- 44:03Speaker 2: to get me in a flow state one of these days.
- 44:08Speaker 2: I mean, I guess the question is when you're in
- 44:11Speaker 2: the flow state, do you know it or is it
- 44:13Speaker 2: just after the fact that you go, hey, I was
- 44:16Speaker 2: in the flow state, all right, we've got the Astros report,
- 44:21Speaker 2: We'll see how they spend losing two out of three

- 45:44Speaker 31: series in Arlington against the Rangers, falling in the Sunday
- 45:47Speaker 31: Mattine by a score of four to two. From Rivaldez
- 45:50Speaker 31: went seven innings. He allowed three earned runs and suffered
- 45:53Speaker 31: the loss. Offensively, the Astros were shut down to the
- 45:56Speaker 31: tune of just the two runs on five hits. Jeremy
- 45:59Speaker 31: Pania hit an RBI single in the sixth to tie
- 46:01Speaker 31: the game at one after the Rangers went it had
- 46:04Speaker 31: four to one. The Astros mustard a run in the
- 46:06Speaker 31: seventh on the Yin er Das ground out, but that
- 46:08Speaker 31: would be it does. The Rangers take the game and

- 47:34Speaker 11: This is the Zone eleven and fifty AM and maybe
- 47:37Speaker 11: three point seven FM.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Hey, thanks for joining us on this Monday edition. We
- 47:47Speaker 2: got the writers coming up at five o'clock. We've got
- 47:53Speaker 2: Monday Night football tonight here on the Zone. Pstros baseball
- 47:58Speaker 2: from Toronto, Tuesday, Wednesday.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Okay, as promised, Billy.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Napier's seat was certainly warm when the season began, but
- 48:07Speaker 2: he had kind of cool things down. With the way
- 48:09Speaker 2: the team finished last year, there was high hopes this
- 48:12Speaker 2: year despite a horrible schedule, I mean a brutal schedule
- 48:16Speaker 2: in the SEC.
- 48:18Speaker 1: But they lost their home game to South Florida.
- 48:22Speaker 2: May turn out that, you know, that's not a horrible loss,
- 48:24Speaker 2: but you're not supposed to lose it on to any
- 48:27Speaker 2: directional team. Here's Billy Napier from earlier today.
- 48:34Speaker 34: As we keep his short and sweet here relative to
- 48:40Speaker 34: the game, I think the the emphasis with the players
- 48:43Speaker 34: is the first way we win is you don't beat yourself.
- 48:48Speaker 13: And I think that.
- 48:51Speaker 34: Not to discredit South Florida, but I think we contributed
- 48:54Speaker 34: to their efforts quite a bit, so.
- 48:58Speaker 17: You know, we recaped that after the game.
- 49:00Speaker 34: I think the red zone scoring early really caused us
- 49:05Speaker 34: to lose a momentum we had a chance to really
- 49:07Speaker 34: take control of the game.
- 49:08Speaker 13: I think that's an important lesson.
- 49:10Speaker 34: Obviously, over one hundred yards and penalties which has to
- 49:14Speaker 34: be addressed.
- 49:14Speaker 15: And then the safety.
- 49:17Speaker 34: Do think situationally got to play a little bit better
- 49:19Speaker 34: in two minutes on defense, and then the transitions there
- 49:24Speaker 34: in the second third quarter got to be a little
- 49:26Speaker 34: bit better. So there is a lot of good on
- 49:29Speaker 34: the tape. I didn't think we moved the ball well
- 49:33Speaker 34: at times, in particular in the first half, but missed opportunities.
- 49:39Speaker 34: And not to again discredits how Fard, I thought their
- 49:44Speaker 34: staff and their team did a really good job. They
- 49:45Speaker 34: played extremely hard in the game and made some plays
- 49:49Speaker 34: when they were presented there. So you guys know, much
- 49:53Speaker 34: like I do in our team knows that you got
- 49:55Speaker 34: to turn the page and that is physical, that's mental,
- 50:01Speaker 34: and that is emotional, and I think it's really important.
- 50:04Speaker 34: You know, what are we going to do with the
- 50:06Speaker 34: lessons that we learned and what are we going to
- 50:08Speaker 34: do with the emotions that we feel? And I think
- 50:10Speaker 34: that's really important that our team channels that in the
- 50:14Speaker 34: right direction. So when you get put in these situations,
- 50:17Speaker 34: you have to do the next right thing and you've
- 50:22Speaker 34: got to always make your decisions in the best interests
- 50:26Speaker 34: of the team, and I think our football team and
- 50:29Speaker 34: staff is prepared to do that. You know, still have
- 50:33Speaker 34: a lot of confidence in this group. It's important to know.
- 50:38Speaker 34: I do think that this group, when they do it right,
- 50:40Speaker 34: it is fun to watch, and we need to do
- 50:43Speaker 34: that more consistently going forward to put our team in
- 50:46Speaker 34: position to win. LSU has a really good football team
- 50:51Speaker 34: and veteran quarterback, really unique skill on offense, dynamic returners,
- 50:58Speaker 34: and a defense that's been retooled through the portal, some
- 51:03Speaker 34: younger players that are a year older, and obviously on
- 51:08Speaker 34: tape here just two games in, you can see there's
- 51:11Speaker 34: a ton of talent there. So coach Kelly has put
- 51:15Speaker 34: together a good football team. We know that going on
- 51:17Speaker 34: the road in this league is challenging and it's one
- 51:22Speaker 34: that you know, I think our players get excited about
- 51:26Speaker 34: going to play in these types of venues. There's something
- 51:30Speaker 34: about being a competitor and going into somebody else's house
- 51:35Speaker 34: and it being you versus them, And I think we're
- 51:40Speaker 34: building momentum towards that. We're excited about the challenge of
- 51:43Speaker 34: playing this team, so we're focused on our improvement this week. Obviously,
- 51:48Speaker 34: got a lot of things to clean up, but in general,
- 51:50Speaker 34: I know you got a lot of questions, so we
- 51:52Speaker 34: can get to it.
- 51:53Speaker 35: Offensive line was supposed to be like kind of the
- 51:56Speaker 35: strength of this offense potentially right right other night, I
- 52:00Speaker 35: think every position had a penalty against it. What do
- 52:04Speaker 35: you feel like's going on up there in LSU looking
- 52:07Speaker 35: at it? And then they're giving up less than two
- 52:08Speaker 35: yards to carry right now? So the offensive line is
- 52:11Speaker 35: obviously can be a huge fat Yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 13: No, I thought.
- 52:14Speaker 34: I thought they did a lot of good things in
- 52:16Speaker 34: the game. Obviously, the penalties you'd like to have back,
- 52:20Speaker 34: but the procedure penalties mainly, Okay, I can deal with
- 52:24Speaker 34: a holding on occasion, you know, I know we had
- 52:28Speaker 34: two of those, but I think the procedure issues are.
- 52:31Speaker 13: The ones that you'd like to have back.
- 52:34Speaker 34: But now that group's done a lot of really good
- 52:36Speaker 34: things as well, can they do better, absolutely, But we
- 52:41Speaker 34: also rushed the ball effectively at times the other night,
- 52:44Speaker 34: and I thought they did a nice job.
- 52:45Speaker 13: So look, I think.
- 52:49Speaker 34: Offensive football is a game of precision. You know, it's
- 52:53Speaker 34: it's a rhythm, it's a synergy, and I think the
- 52:56Speaker 34: issues you run into sometimes and when one player maybe
- 53:01Speaker 34: isn't quite right and it costs you a play. Right,
- 53:04Speaker 34: So we're still finding ourselves there a little bit at times.
- 53:08Speaker 34: We need more plays where we're going eleven for eleven
- 53:11Speaker 34: and that's every position contributing to that, right, So, and
- 53:16Speaker 34: I do think that that ultimately has led to some
- 53:18Speaker 34: of our inconsistencies. But there's also a lot of good
- 53:22Speaker 34: football on the tape, a lot of bright spots on
- 53:25Speaker 34: the tape.
- 53:26Speaker 2: Yeah, the people in Florida don't want to hear that
- 53:32Speaker 2: because you know they lost. It's going to be interesting
- 53:37Speaker 2: to see moving forward, because you do coming into the year.
- 53:40Speaker 2: You know, Florida ended the season strongly, they weren't bad,
- 53:43Speaker 2: and they've got you know, Lagway and he was like
- 53:46Speaker 2: six and one as a starter. He hasn't been great
- 53:48Speaker 2: so far, and you know that could be a lot
- 53:51Speaker 2: of things. I don't know about the offensive line. I
- 53:54Speaker 2: haven't studied enough with the receivers because I haven't watched
- 53:57Speaker 2: them closely enough. I did watch some of the game
- 54:01Speaker 2: against USF. I was flipping I had I had watched
- 54:05Speaker 2: USF the week before.
- 54:09Speaker 1: It's a big twelve team. They beat Neil it was
- 54:12Speaker 1: Boise State.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and they look pretty good, and they look pretty
- 54:17Speaker 2: good Saturday. They've got some dudes, and that coach has
- 54:21Speaker 2: done a terrific job. And I tell you, thanks sir, Miami,
- 54:29Speaker 2: they better be on alert because this is the kind
- 54:33Speaker 2: of game Mario loses. I'm just telling you historically, I'm
- 54:38Speaker 2: still not all in on them. I think they're good.
- 54:41Speaker 2: I like their both lines of scrimmage. I like everything
- 54:45Speaker 2: about Miami except the coach. And they they better be
- 54:52Speaker 2: on high alert on Saturday. And I'm sure they are, right.
- 54:58Speaker 2: I'm sure they are if they beat Florida. But Florida's schedule.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Let me let me.
- 55:02Speaker 2: Grab this real quickly before we have to break, because
- 55:07Speaker 2: it so. They're at LSU next week, They're at Miami
- 55:14Speaker 2: after an open date, they host Texas.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Then they're at A and M.
- 55:19Speaker 2: November one, the annual game with Georgia, They're at Ole Miss,
- 55:24Speaker 2: they host Tennessee and Florida State.
- 55:26Speaker 1: I mean, come on, that is brutal.
