- 2:56Speaker 3: where I'm your host Trevita Harris, and you know, each
- 2:59Speaker 3: and every time we come to do this show, we
- 3:01Speaker 3: cannot get started without going to God first. But I
- 3:05Speaker 3: want to tell you a little bit about my guests
- 3:06Speaker 3: who I'm going to have tonight, and that is mister
- 3:09Speaker 3: Thomas Rooker, and we're going to talk to him about
- 3:11Speaker 3: balancing it all being a husband, a father, and an entrepreneur.
- 3:16Speaker 3: These are things that really takes a lot of planning,
- 3:20Speaker 3: time management, and things of that nature to get all
- 3:23Speaker 3: of these things done at one time and do it
- 3:26Speaker 3: with ease. I don't know how well you guys are
- 3:30Speaker 3: able to do that, but he makes it look very easy.
- 3:33Speaker 3: But before we do anything, let's go to God in prayer.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing us together each
- 3:39Speaker 3: as you do each and every time we are here
- 3:41Speaker 3: in front of you. Let the words of my mouth
- 3:44Speaker 3: hit the ears that need to hear. Let the eyes
- 3:47Speaker 3: who are watching, let them take from what we do tonight.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Let it bless them in the ways that you see fit.
- 3:54Speaker 3: We always come to you because you give us the
- 3:57Speaker 3: direction that we need to go. If anything that we
- 4:00Speaker 3: say is impactful to the ears that are listening, let
- 4:04Speaker 3: them take it and follow your path and your precious
- 4:07Speaker 3: and holy name, Jesus.
- 4:08Speaker 5: We pray. Amen. Please bring up.
- 4:11Speaker 3: My guest, mister Thomas, and let's get this conversation started.
- 4:19Speaker 2: How you doing for vida?
- 4:21Speaker 5: I am good? How are you who?
- 4:25Speaker 2: I'm good? I'm here.
- 4:27Speaker 5: You had to take that little.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Breath, but I'm doing good, you know, and I'm I'm blessed.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Put it like that.
- 4:39Speaker 3: That's the best way to be anytime we're on this side,
- 4:42Speaker 3: We're always blessed to be in the space because he
- 4:45Speaker 3: granted us another day, another opportunity to make the bettest
- 4:49Speaker 3: judgments that we can and the best choices that we can.
- 4:52Speaker 3: So I want to say thank you for having the
- 4:55Speaker 3: time to spend with me tonight as we talk about
- 4:58Speaker 3: how you balance being a husband, being a father of three,
- 5:05Speaker 3: co owner and host of One Nation eight six four.
- 5:12Speaker 5: Like, listen, I'm wrapping my shirt today.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I see that. I'm glad. I'm glad.
- 5:18Speaker 6: I see that it brings joy to me when I
- 5:20Speaker 6: see somebody wearing the.
- 5:22Speaker 2: You know, wearing your brand and everything.
- 5:24Speaker 6: But I can honestly say this is a great topic
- 5:28Speaker 6: because I could dive deep into it, and we're gonna
- 5:32Speaker 6: have some fun with it, y'all.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna bring y'all into my life for a minute, and.
- 5:37Speaker 6: I'm glad to be against I'm glad you thought enough
- 5:40Speaker 6: of me to have, you know, have me on tonight
- 5:42Speaker 6: and let's do it.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Of course.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Of course, now the first question I'm gonna ask, and
- 5:49Speaker 3: that is how has been a husband changed you in
- 5:55Speaker 3: a way as it was when you were single, because
- 5:58Speaker 3: there are some changes that you go through as you know,
- 6:01Speaker 3: you make that decision to have a partner.
- 6:05Speaker 6: Right right, I can definitely say this, it's it's a
- 6:08Speaker 6: big change. It's it's different because when you when you're single.
- 6:13Speaker 6: Where I can speak for myself. When I was singer,
- 6:17Speaker 6: I could do whatever I wanted to do, go wherever
- 6:20Speaker 6: I wanted to go, do it however I wanted to
- 6:22Speaker 6: do it. But when I decided to, Okay, I'm gonna
- 6:27Speaker 6: make this next step in my life and ask this
- 6:30Speaker 6: young lady to marry me, I can honestly say that
- 6:35Speaker 6: part was easy. Where it got tricky, Where it got
- 6:39Speaker 6: hard at was you you got to know somebody before
- 6:43Speaker 6: you Actually I think you should know somebody before you
- 6:46Speaker 6: actually married. You know, you should spend time with them.
- 6:48Speaker 6: And I've known my wife my whole life. But what
- 6:53Speaker 6: was so funny about it once we got married. It
- 6:57Speaker 6: was certain things we didn't know about each other. And
- 7:01Speaker 6: she was looking at me out like I didn't know
- 7:04Speaker 6: that about you. I'm like, I ain't know that about
- 7:06Speaker 6: you either, you know what I'm saying. So it was
- 7:08Speaker 6: it took something getting used to so I'm gonna say
- 7:12Speaker 6: those spurs two years. It was a lot of balancing out.
- 7:16Speaker 6: We had to do a lot of things to get
- 7:18Speaker 6: you know, get where we need to be. And it's
- 7:21Speaker 6: changed me to the point where, you know, I think
- 7:26Speaker 6: I couldn't have done this without her, you know what
- 7:28Speaker 6: I mean. And if I was single trying to do this,
- 7:31Speaker 6: I'm not gonna lie, I would have fell off the
- 7:33Speaker 6: wagon a long time ago.
- 7:34Speaker 2: But with her in my corner, I'm kind of.
- 7:37Speaker 6: You know, you know, women kind of beat the backbone
- 7:40Speaker 6: and give you that little that push you need, and
- 7:42Speaker 6: you know, she know how to hit that.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Button to make me do what I gotta do.
- 7:48Speaker 6: So I owe a lot of my I guess you said,
- 7:51Speaker 6: a lot of my time and a lot of the
- 7:54Speaker 6: success that I do have to her.
- 7:56Speaker 2: So it was a big joint for me to trust
- 7:58Speaker 2: me it was it was something else.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Well listen, I definitely know and understand that because when
- 8:06Speaker 3: my kids, father and I, when we first moved in together,
- 8:09Speaker 3: Like the thing with my dad, my parents and most
- 8:13Speaker 3: of them, they were like, you know, I don't need
- 8:15Speaker 3: to get to move in together and until you get married.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Now that's the old fashioned way. But my idea was,
- 8:23Speaker 3: if I can't live with them, then I can't marry them.
- 8:27Speaker 5: And it was simply based upon this. He lived with
- 8:30Speaker 5: his parents, I lived with my funds, and so.
- 8:35Speaker 3: When he went home at night, I didn't know what
- 8:37Speaker 3: type of person he was. And so that's what it
- 8:40Speaker 3: comes down to. You don't know what a person is
- 8:42Speaker 3: like at night when they go home, and then when
- 8:45Speaker 3: they wake up. That's a whole different ballgame. And when
- 8:47Speaker 3: you're doing this every set a single day, day in,
- 8:50Speaker 3: day out, three hundred and sixty five days a year,
- 8:53Speaker 3: and if that's a leapier, you know you got that
- 8:55Speaker 3: extra day in there. And so it's like you went
- 8:58Speaker 3: to bed this way, you don't walk up a whole
- 9:01Speaker 3: different way.
- 9:01Speaker 5: And I didn't do nothing. What the problem is? You know,
- 9:06Speaker 5: That's one of those things that I understand.
- 9:11Speaker 2: It was something else. Man. We we we made it through.
- 9:14Speaker 6: But we I'm gonna tell you what, we learned a
- 9:17Speaker 6: lot about each other.
- 9:18Speaker 2: And I'm gonna say this too.
- 9:21Speaker 6: It was one of those things where she could accept
- 9:24Speaker 6: some of my flaws and I could accept some of her.
- 9:26Speaker 2: So you know, we're all not perfect, you know what
- 9:28Speaker 2: I mean?
- 9:29Speaker 6: But where you draw the line that is where when
- 9:32Speaker 6: it gets like disrespectful, we don't play that, we don't.
- 9:35Speaker 2: We don't do that. Now I can. I can tolerate
- 9:39Speaker 2: her Texas and she do TEXI me a hundred times
- 9:43Speaker 2: during the day. I'm like, God, Land.
- 9:45Speaker 6: You supposed to be working, won't you just let me be?
- 9:47Speaker 6: Or she could tolerate me when I need something done?
- 9:50Speaker 6: Or hey, how you do this? Because she's very computer sad.
- 9:54Speaker 6: I am too, but not on the lefl like her.
- 9:56Speaker 6: And like I tell you, in a minute, if I'm
- 9:58Speaker 6: doing something, I'll call.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Hey, what is it not? Hey, come over here, help
- 10:03Speaker 2: me do this? You already know I can't you just
- 10:05Speaker 2: waiting for me to ask you? You know what I mean?
- 10:07Speaker 5: So it's you, y'all.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Men are so headstrong when it comes to that, and
- 10:13Speaker 3: it's like, no, I'm gonna figure it out myself. But
- 10:16Speaker 3: then we're sitting over there, were watching y'all because we
- 10:19Speaker 3: know you struggling.
- 10:20Speaker 5: We see it. We sitting over there in your corner
- 10:23Speaker 5: looking at.
- 10:23Speaker 3: You like he don't know what he doing, but he
- 10:27Speaker 3: gonna wait till he get it. So messed up to
- 10:30Speaker 3: where now I had to come over there and be like,
- 10:32Speaker 3: have you just asked me in the first place.
- 10:34Speaker 5: We want to be doing all of this, and yet we're.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Gonna complain the whole time we're fixing it because all
- 10:40Speaker 3: you had to do was let's a little ego, go
- 10:43Speaker 3: for just a moment, and let us help you get
- 10:46Speaker 3: it done a whole lot faster.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you. I'm gonna tell you a funny story.
- 10:51Speaker 6: When I first started using my streaming service, I looked
- 10:55Speaker 6: at it, you know, pick what package I want. I've
- 10:58Speaker 6: done it off. It's the first day of the live stream.
- 11:02Speaker 6: I'm going live to something like seven thirty PM, you know,
- 11:06Speaker 6: and I'm over here trying to get something right. I
- 11:08Speaker 6: forgot what well, I wait, all wait the seven five.
- 11:13Speaker 6: If you hadn't just told me, I would have came
- 11:15Speaker 6: over here done it for you. She came too, clicks
- 11:18Speaker 6: and I'm just thank you, you know. But yeah, it's
- 11:23Speaker 6: a lot of things that you know. We are headstrong.
- 11:25Speaker 6: I'm not gonna lie about that, fellas. We are women, y'all,
- 11:28Speaker 6: y'all have our back, and.
- 11:29Speaker 2: We appreciate y'all for that, We really do.
- 11:34Speaker 3: It's just one of those things that I know that
- 11:37Speaker 3: to be true from my dad, my brothers, my cousins,
- 11:42Speaker 3: and it's just like one of those things where it's
- 11:44Speaker 3: just like y'all gonna try to do with y'all selves.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Until you get stuck and be like, well, can you
- 11:49Speaker 5: just come?
- 11:50Speaker 3: I mean, I know I could have asked you like
- 11:53Speaker 3: twenty minutes ago, but I figured I could do it myself.
- 11:56Speaker 3: But that's neither here another y'all eventually don't get it.
- 12:00Speaker 3: I think I'm not quite sure, but I'm hopeful, you know,
- 12:05Speaker 3: I'm really hopeful.
- 12:06Speaker 6: You know, eventually we I say, we may get it,
- 12:09Speaker 6: and you know, probably I ain't gonna lie nine times
- 12:12Speaker 6: our team with me.
- 12:14Speaker 2: If it's I put it like this, If it's come.
- 12:16Speaker 6: To building something hands on, it ain't a problem, I
- 12:19Speaker 6: got it. But when it comes to okay, I know
- 12:22Speaker 6: my Microsoft, I know this, I know that, but the
- 12:25Speaker 6: new computer skills, he't come on over here and get
- 12:28Speaker 6: this put me.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I can't. I can't do it. But yeah, it's it's been.
- 12:33Speaker 2: It's been fun. It really has real. Yeah, I can
- 12:37Speaker 2: definitely say that you.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Seem like you have it all.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Like I know there's gonna be hiccups here and there,
- 12:44Speaker 3: but from watching you and watching your podcast and things
- 12:49Speaker 3: of that nature. It seems as if the hiccups are
- 12:53Speaker 3: not so many hiccups anymore, and that's a good thing.
- 12:56Speaker 5: That's definitely a plus.
- 12:58Speaker 6: Right Right when I first started, like I said, you
- 13:02Speaker 6: followed me, and it was originally supposed to be three.
- 13:08Speaker 2: It's supposed to be three of us.
- 13:09Speaker 6: But some of my friends they kind of backed out
- 13:14Speaker 6: on it, and that was cool, and I understood why.
- 13:16Speaker 6: Then me and my partner wanted another one. My partners
- 13:19Speaker 6: wanted to do it, but we couldn't get on the
- 13:20Speaker 6: same page.
- 13:21Speaker 2: So I was.
- 13:22Speaker 6: Looking at this little five year old son of mine
- 13:25Speaker 6: and I'm like, you know what, let's.
- 13:27Speaker 2: See if we can do this.
- 13:29Speaker 6: And you know, we went live on Facebook here and there,
- 13:32Speaker 6: but Trebda, you know, like I know, a five year
- 13:35Speaker 6: old attention span is not where it needs.
- 13:39Speaker 2: To be, you know that. So I remember Vivily.
- 13:44Speaker 6: I remember we was doing the live one day and
- 13:47Speaker 6: he answered the question, just got up and walked off,
- 13:49Speaker 6: and I asked him, you know, trying not for the
- 13:51Speaker 6: people to see me. I was like, hey, well you
- 13:53Speaker 6: go bathroom. Never seen him again. It was over. So
- 13:58Speaker 6: I went from that to you know, just pumping it
- 14:01Speaker 6: as much as I could on Facebook. The one thing
- 14:04Speaker 6: I can say when it comes to topics, I like
- 14:08Speaker 6: the way you do yours, Like you say, we're just talking.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I want to let people know this, if you're doing.
- 14:12Speaker 6: A podcast, don't overwhelm yourself with a million things, a
- 14:17Speaker 6: million idea. I mean, just think about it. Because I
- 14:20Speaker 6: tell my friends all the time, say, look if we
- 14:23Speaker 6: had to had a camera in front of us from
- 14:26Speaker 6: back in the day, so now I said, the conversations
- 14:29Speaker 6: we had, I mean, people wouldn't believe. I mean, yeah,
- 14:32Speaker 6: we can get silly and we'll cut up sometimes, but
- 14:35Speaker 6: we've had some deep conversations. And that's what I try
- 14:39Speaker 6: to tell everybody with this podcast. I'm like, look, when
- 14:41Speaker 6: I get on here, I just let it flow. I
- 14:43Speaker 6: don't really come up with a topic now talk that
- 14:46Speaker 6: talk Thursdays I do.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I let fellas know what we may talk about.
- 14:50Speaker 6: But when it comes to motivational Monday we do or
- 14:52Speaker 6: anything else, I just let it flow. But I can't
- 14:56Speaker 6: say it's not it don't test me sometimes because.
- 14:59Speaker 2: It do, you know. But I managed to kind of
- 15:04Speaker 2: kind of make it a little easier.
- 15:05Speaker 5: But it's not, it's not at all not I agree
- 15:11Speaker 5: with that one hundred percent.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Now my thing is this. You've known me for quite
- 15:15Speaker 3: some time. For me to do this is very outside
- 15:19Speaker 3: of my comfort.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Zone because I am not this.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Person, you know, and it's hard for people to believe
- 15:27Speaker 3: every time I say that, I'm really a very introverted
- 15:31Speaker 3: type of person. Like you know that I write poetry.
- 15:35Speaker 3: And every time you will have like an event or something,
- 15:38Speaker 3: you like, you're gonna do it, and I'm like, no,
- 15:41Speaker 3: I'm I'm gonna read it and share it with you.
- 15:44Speaker 3: But that's about as far as it's going. It's not
- 15:47Speaker 3: going outside of that.
- 15:49Speaker 6: Now.
- 15:49Speaker 3: I'm gonna show up and I'm gonna support everybody else
- 15:52Speaker 3: that's there but me at now, sir, that's not my face,
- 15:57Speaker 3: that my porte.
- 15:59Speaker 5: I can write it all today.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I'm grateful for my mentor because she's got me in
- 16:06Speaker 3: this space. And you know, every time this camera comes on,
- 16:10Speaker 3: it's a whole different person. Like there's a different personality
- 16:13Speaker 3: that shows up for me to do with this, and
- 16:16Speaker 3: so I'm like, God, dam she don't got me outside
- 16:20Speaker 3: and this this ain't my thing. But every person who
- 16:25Speaker 3: comes on the show, they say the same thing when
- 16:28Speaker 3: I tell them I'm really shy and they're like, Okay,
- 16:32Speaker 3: tell that somebody else because I don't see it right.
- 16:35Speaker 5: I tell you it is.
- 16:37Speaker 6: It's not that I understand you're right, I know you,
- 16:43Speaker 6: this is this is not this is new to me.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I'm looking at you opening up.
- 16:47Speaker 6: But that's a good thing because sometimes you got to
- 16:50Speaker 6: get out your comfort zone.
- 16:51Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 16:52Speaker 6: Once you get out your comfort zone, it opens your
- 16:54Speaker 6: mind up to a lot of things that.
- 16:56Speaker 2: You thought you couldn't do, but you can do, you
- 16:59Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 17:00Speaker 6: And that's one of the things I'll applaud you on
- 17:03Speaker 6: that because you're right. You brought up something with the
- 17:05Speaker 6: poetry thing, ladies and gentlemen. She's a great poet, but
- 17:10Speaker 6: I could not pull the life for me to get
- 17:11Speaker 6: her to get up and read and speak none of it.
- 17:16Speaker 6: And I can remember she came to an event we had,
- 17:21Speaker 6: and uh, I.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Was just I was just hoping that maybe, maybe, just
- 17:24Speaker 2: maybe the day she get up to say.
- 17:26Speaker 6: Said nothing showed up, show love and support love y'all
- 17:32Speaker 6: got up out of them.
- 17:36Speaker 3: That is today, Like, I will show up wherever you
- 17:39Speaker 3: need me to be.
- 17:40Speaker 5: I'm gonna be that. But if you need to be
- 17:44Speaker 5: outside in a state.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I don't know what it is when it comes to
- 17:57Speaker 3: being in front of people that it's like.
- 18:01Speaker 5: I clam up.
- 18:03Speaker 3: But if it's just and I can't even say that
- 18:06Speaker 3: because I'll speak to strangers and have a whole conversation
- 18:10Speaker 3: like I don't know them forever. My kids think it's
- 18:12Speaker 3: the weirdest thing in the world. But if you put
- 18:14Speaker 3: me on the spot.
- 18:15Speaker 5: Oh, now, I don't know how to function like that,
- 18:18Speaker 5: and I think it's weird. But I cannot do that.
- 18:22Speaker 5: And I'm like, don't put me on the spot.
- 18:24Speaker 3: If you just asked me and we're just generalized conversation
- 18:28Speaker 3: and what, I'm good. But if you put me on
- 18:30Speaker 3: the spot to do something, yeah, my knees get to
- 18:34Speaker 3: shake and my hands get to sweating and all kind
- 18:37Speaker 3: of stuff.
- 18:38Speaker 5: I'm like, you know, you don't want me to do that.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I understand what you're saying.
- 18:45Speaker 6: But let me ask you this though, How has it
- 18:48Speaker 6: been since you've been doing your podcast? Cause, like I said,
- 18:50Speaker 6: I'm looking at you now, I'm looking at two different people.
- 18:53Speaker 2: You know what I mean, You're doing your thing. So
- 18:56Speaker 2: how does that feel? Yeah?
- 18:59Speaker 3: We feel it was very good and I'm grateful to
- 19:02Speaker 3: be in this space, and you know, I never thought,
- 19:06Speaker 3: like my first show.
- 19:07Speaker 5: I'm gonna tell you.
- 19:08Speaker 3: I was like, Okay, God, look here, I don't know
- 19:13Speaker 3: what I'm supposed to be doing. I don't even know
- 19:16Speaker 3: if I'm capable of doing this, but my mentor had said,
- 19:21Speaker 3: you can do it, so come.
- 19:23Speaker 5: On, you gonna You're gonna get it done.
- 19:25Speaker 3: And the first show I was just I was absolutely terrified.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Second show, I don't think I had a guess. My
- 19:31Speaker 3: first show, I had my best friend, and then I
- 19:36Speaker 3: had mister Frederick baby for he's an author and a
- 19:40Speaker 3: radio host, and so had him. And then I think
- 19:44Speaker 3: the third show, I really didn't have a guest, and
- 19:46Speaker 3: so I was like, Oh my gosh, what am I
- 19:49Speaker 3: gonna do? Am I gonna you know, am I gonna talk?
- 19:52Speaker 3: And so I did, and I was like, oh my gosh.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I actually made it through a whole little like fifteen
- 19:58Speaker 3: twenty minutes of a conversation just talking about my experience,
- 20:02Speaker 3: my testimony, you know, me having a stroke and having
- 20:05Speaker 3: Kerii malformation in those things, and made it through that
- 20:08Speaker 3: because I was just talking about dealing with the hand
- 20:11Speaker 3: that you were dealt, the cars that you like in life.
- 20:15Speaker 3: We don't know what we're going to go through, and
- 20:18Speaker 3: in times it's like, Okay, I didn't know I was
- 20:21Speaker 3: going to have a stroke at thirty I didn't know
- 20:23Speaker 3: that I was going to be able to not be
- 20:25Speaker 3: able to walk. I didn't know at the age of
- 20:27Speaker 3: thirty four I was going to have a major flair
- 20:29Speaker 3: and lose my ability to speak. I didn't have any
- 20:32Speaker 3: clue on any of those things. And so now you're
- 20:35Speaker 3: putting me in a space not only to where I
- 20:38Speaker 3: can share my testimony, I can have other people come
- 20:41Speaker 3: through and share with me about what they've been going
- 20:44Speaker 3: through and what they experienced so they got to where
- 20:47Speaker 3: they are, because I think sometimes we miss the journey
- 20:52Speaker 3: of what we're going through. And that's why I titled
- 20:55Speaker 3: it Believe in the Journey, because you have to go
- 20:58Speaker 3: through and stuff and get to where you are. And
- 21:01Speaker 3: people don't want to acknowledge their past, but their past
- 21:05Speaker 3: is basically connected to everything that they got going on.
- 21:08Speaker 3: It's the pieces of their puzzle that creates the bigger
- 21:12Speaker 3: masterpiece that God has already designed a.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Long time ago.
- 21:16Speaker 3: And so me being in this space, it's like, Okay, God,
- 21:20Speaker 3: you had me take a public speaking class in college,
- 21:23Speaker 3: and I'm like, what am I taking public speaking for.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I'm not gonna need that. Look at it, look at this.
- 21:30Speaker 3: So I needed that. I didn't understand it.
- 21:33Speaker 5: It made but the connection has been made.
- 21:38Speaker 6: Right, I like, I like what you said when it
- 21:41Speaker 6: came to Uh, I'm gonna be honest. I never thought
- 21:45Speaker 6: about having a podcast. Oh that was a friend of
- 21:49Speaker 6: mine's idea. But I was like, you know, once things
- 21:53Speaker 6: went left, I was like, I can't let the dream die.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I gotta keep keep going, keep doing it. So it
- 22:00Speaker 2: was so funny.
- 22:00Speaker 6: I thought back to something my mother used to tell me,
- 22:03Speaker 6: and I used to be like, Mom, I mean, I
- 22:06Speaker 6: just don't get it, you know. She said, look, and
- 22:09Speaker 6: you're not understanding. She said, all you gotta do is
- 22:11Speaker 6: open your mouth and talk. I'm like, what does that mean?
- 22:13Speaker 6: You know sometime when your mom say things, you'd be like,
- 22:16Speaker 6: look here, I don't I'm lost, Mama, I don't know.
- 22:18Speaker 6: She said, you'll get it. So me and a partner
- 22:21Speaker 6: of mine we was I never forget. Was in greena
- 22:24Speaker 6: mom and there was a young lady and another guy
- 22:29Speaker 6: that was having a little situation, having an argument or whatever.
- 22:33Speaker 6: And for some reason, I stepped out the blue and
- 22:35Speaker 6: just started, you know, kind of calming the situation now,
- 22:38Speaker 6: and my homeboy said, bro, you can talk to anybody.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I did it. It hit me.
- 22:43Speaker 6: I say, am I gonna be nervous when I do
- 22:45Speaker 6: this podcast and read I'm not gonna lie? When I
- 22:48Speaker 6: got on, it just went like that, and I was
- 22:50Speaker 6: like and then I said, my mama always told me
- 22:53Speaker 6: if I opened my mouth, I would figure it out,
- 22:55Speaker 6: and she always would say, you got the gift. You
- 22:57Speaker 6: can just talk to anybody. I said, Now, yeah, I
- 22:59Speaker 6: got to have to talk to anybody, but I don't
- 23:01Speaker 6: know what I'm talking about, you know what I mean.
- 23:04Speaker 6: So that's where you got to find your I guess,
- 23:07Speaker 6: find your niche and find who you are, you know,
- 23:09Speaker 6: while you're on this journey, because like something you said,
- 23:12Speaker 6: you got to go through some things to get here,
- 23:14Speaker 6: you know what I mean. And I mean, I'm just
- 23:17Speaker 6: I'm blessed to, you know, be here man. And I
- 23:20Speaker 6: love to share my words and share my ability to
- 23:23Speaker 6: the world. I mean, it's just it's fun to see
- 23:26Speaker 6: people actually pay attention to what you're saying and actually apply.
- 23:32Speaker 2: To everyday life.
- 23:34Speaker 6: And then they hit you with a testimation like I
- 23:36Speaker 6: got a message the other day, Man, you just don't
- 23:38Speaker 6: know what you said really helped me out.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Thank you. That's all I'm you know what I mean,
- 23:43Speaker 2: That's what it's all about.
- 23:46Speaker 3: One person to hear what you're saying, and it changes
- 23:50Speaker 3: their perspective on and their outlook on many things. And
- 23:54Speaker 3: I don't think at times, I don't think we realize
- 23:57Speaker 3: the impact that we.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Have on people.
- 24:00Speaker 3: And it's our children who are close to us, and
- 24:02Speaker 3: our parents and our siblings or anything like that. We
- 24:05Speaker 3: don't understand that when it's somebody on the outside that.
- 24:09Speaker 5: You may not even know that has.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Clicked on something that you've posted or said, or seen
- 24:15Speaker 3: a little quote that you may have posted, or a
- 24:17Speaker 3: little video, a little something that you've posted, and it
- 24:21Speaker 3: changes how they view things. Now, I'm going to ask
- 24:25Speaker 3: you this question, Like you've entered into fatherhood, what was
- 24:30Speaker 3: that experience like with the first Because you got three
- 24:33Speaker 3: and you got two.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Girls, So I know.
- 24:38Speaker 3: That's a whole different ball game because I got one
- 24:41Speaker 3: girl and I got two boys.
- 24:44Speaker 5: So said.
- 24:45Speaker 3: We had a conversation with moms most of the time
- 24:49Speaker 3: about how they balance life being a wife, a mother,
- 24:53Speaker 3: and you know a nurse or you know, just their
- 24:57Speaker 3: work life. But it's different when we're talking to a
- 25:01Speaker 3: dad about how he balances it and how stepping into fatherhood,
- 25:07Speaker 3: how that has affected you in a way.
- 25:10Speaker 5: So go ahead, damn, We'll go back.
- 25:15Speaker 6: We'll go back to twenty fifteen when I had my
- 25:18Speaker 6: son February twenty first, twenty fifteen. By the way, that
- 25:22Speaker 6: was my mother's birthday too, So that's a big thing
- 25:26Speaker 6: to mean, you understand, you know I'm coming from that.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I was. I was scared.
- 25:32Speaker 6: I'm not gonna lie to you because he had some
- 25:35Speaker 6: complications when he was born, you know, and everything, and
- 25:39Speaker 6: I was for some reason, and they wanted her to
- 25:43Speaker 6: get her rest, of course, but I could be the
- 25:46Speaker 6: only the only person in the.
- 25:49Speaker 2: NICKI room with him.
- 25:50Speaker 6: So I actually went down there one night and beat,
- 25:53Speaker 6: I'm not gonna lie. You know when you had your
- 25:56Speaker 6: first child, and you know, I'm not thinking he's a way.
- 26:00Speaker 6: I stuck my you know how you can stick your
- 26:02Speaker 6: finger through the little like little people, and he reached
- 26:05Speaker 6: out and he grabbed it, and I kid you not,
- 26:08Speaker 6: something went all over me. I'm like, you know what
- 26:11Speaker 6: this is your child?
- 26:13Speaker 2: Like now?
- 26:13Speaker 6: Man, you got a big responsibility. It's over you now.
- 26:17Speaker 2: All that you. It's all about you. It's all about this.
- 26:21Speaker 6: No, no, no, no, no, you know, it's about that
- 26:24Speaker 6: wife at home and this one. So we're gonna we're
- 26:27Speaker 6: gonna travel down the road right quick. So I'm grawing
- 26:30Speaker 6: into being a father, you know, and he's turning.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I think it's just his second birthday and I'm learning things,
- 26:37Speaker 2: you know, whatever, and.
- 26:38Speaker 6: Boom, somebody tell me that pregnant again. Wait a minute,
- 26:43Speaker 6: hold of them now, it's just this ain't no, no,
- 26:46Speaker 6: you gotta be joking. So in my family, on my
- 26:50Speaker 6: dad's side, there's nothing but boys.
- 26:51Speaker 2: It's not for boys.
- 26:52Speaker 6: I'm like, okay, I can handle these little rastlers. I
- 26:55Speaker 6: can handle him, you know. I'm I'm learning, you know,
- 26:57Speaker 6: and I'm I'm thinking I'm doing a good job.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Which to find out it's a girl.
- 27:03Speaker 6: So now let's stash forward a little bit more. I'm learning,
- 27:10Speaker 6: you know, I don't know. I don't care what you say.
- 27:12Speaker 6: I love my son death. It's something about them little girls,
- 27:15Speaker 6: and it just it just tears your world up as
- 27:17Speaker 6: a father.
- 27:18Speaker 2: It's like certain things.
- 27:20Speaker 6: You try not to do that you can't do you know,
- 27:23Speaker 6: they just look at you and I'm like, oh, and
- 27:25Speaker 6: my son right now is at the age. Well, well,
- 27:28Speaker 6: you ain't say it to me like that. Why you
- 27:30Speaker 6: why you said to her like that? Man, It's one
- 27:33Speaker 6: of those things. So that's stashboard again. Two Thoy eighteen. Uh,
- 27:41Speaker 6: I'm pregnant, No way, Okay, you're joking again. And it's
- 27:45Speaker 6: the little girl and this is the baby, this is
- 27:48Speaker 6: the really just the leader out of the group, you.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Know what I mean.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, So.
- 27:55Speaker 6: I kind of balance my time with them because we
- 27:59Speaker 6: all got jobs.
- 28:00Speaker 2: You know. I get up in the morning five o'clock.
- 28:04Speaker 6: I say a prayer for them before I go to work,
- 28:06Speaker 6: because most of the time before I go to work,
- 28:09Speaker 6: they're not even up there, you know.
- 28:10Speaker 2: What I mean.
- 28:10Speaker 6: So I say a prayer for them for I go
- 28:12Speaker 6: to work, prayer for me to get home and back
- 28:14Speaker 6: to them safe.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Okay.
- 28:15Speaker 6: Now, you know how most people when they get off,
- 28:18Speaker 6: they say they, oh, I'll be glad to get off.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I can relax. I can do this now.
- 28:22Speaker 6: It's not that it's when I get off I'm focusing
- 28:25Speaker 6: on Okay, I got to get him the football practice. Okay,
- 28:28Speaker 6: she's still at work. I gotta do this for that
- 28:30Speaker 6: when I got to take them with me, and it
- 28:32Speaker 6: can become challenging a lot, you know what I mean.
- 28:36Speaker 6: And somewhere along the line, I've I'm not gonna say,
- 28:42Speaker 6: mastered it, but now to a point where I'm comfortable
- 28:44Speaker 6: with it. You know, it's just like, Okay, I know
- 28:47Speaker 6: what to do, I know what to grab.
- 28:48Speaker 2: I know this.
- 28:49Speaker 6: But if you had to have me to do this
- 28:52Speaker 6: years ago, I would have been completely lost. I don't
- 28:54Speaker 6: I didn't know nothing about Like when I had my son,
- 28:57Speaker 6: I didn't know nothing about chaint no diafle I ain't
- 28:59Speaker 6: no nothing I did. He had a feeble stuff like that.
- 29:02Speaker 6: So I had to learn over the years of what
- 29:04Speaker 6: I did. I just sat back and I studied him.
- 29:07Speaker 6: Learn what you know, what kind of make them tick,
- 29:09Speaker 6: what make them top? If they if they like this,
- 29:11Speaker 6: if they like that. That way, they didn't have to
- 29:13Speaker 6: question me. I knew off the muscle, you see what
- 29:15Speaker 6: I'm saying. So balancing three with a job and a wife,
- 29:23Speaker 6: entrepreneur podcasts and doing shooting the skits and doing the
- 29:27Speaker 6: T shirts, yeah, I.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Need time every time.
- 29:36Speaker 6: But I asked God to give me the strength every
- 29:38Speaker 6: day and to keep me level headed. And I think
- 29:40Speaker 6: he you know, I know, he's a major part of
- 29:43Speaker 6: why I'm making this thing look so easy, because if
- 29:45Speaker 6: you don't stay prayed up, you know, things can just shift.
- 29:49Speaker 2: You know.
- 29:49Speaker 6: I'm a heavy believer in a man above, and I
- 29:52Speaker 6: asked him for his you know, for his for every
- 29:56Speaker 6: most importantly, I asked him for his help. I said God,
- 29:59Speaker 6: and I talked just like I would talk to all
- 30:01Speaker 6: my sons, because I speak life in my son too,
- 30:04Speaker 6: and I know beat Without him, I couldn't have I
- 30:07Speaker 6: couldn't have done this.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Look like I'm trying. Not.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm tired, I definitely know, and I will say,
- 30:19Speaker 3: I don't envy you for the three right now. I'm
- 30:23Speaker 3: grateful that my three are grown and I got the
- 30:25Speaker 3: grand now.
- 30:27Speaker 5: But having to figure.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Out, Okay, this one has orchestra, this one has these
- 30:33Speaker 3: two football, this one, these two have baseball. This one
- 30:37Speaker 3: like it was one point with my oldest son, Oh
- 30:40Speaker 3: my god, he was from football season to basket to baseball, basketball,
- 30:48Speaker 3: then he wanted to do the gardening club, and then
- 30:50Speaker 3: he wanted to do a play at school. I said,
- 30:52Speaker 3: look here, le boy, listen, go ahead and take something
- 30:56Speaker 3: I'm tired. We taking a season off because look here,
- 31:00Speaker 3: you got.
- 31:01Speaker 5: Me running from here to there.
- 31:03Speaker 6: I'm tied.
- 31:04Speaker 5: I ain't got no energy. I don't have anything left.
- 31:09Speaker 5: I don't care about.
- 31:10Speaker 3: You want to play in this dirt at this gardening
- 31:13Speaker 3: center at the school right now.
- 31:15Speaker 5: We're not doing none else.
- 31:17Speaker 3: You're gonna do this play right here, and were taking
- 31:19Speaker 3: a break.
- 31:20Speaker 5: We're not doing nothing ness. And he looked at me,
- 31:24Speaker 5: But Mom, I really want.
- 31:26Speaker 2: To go dream about it because we do next.
- 31:31Speaker 5: I told you, I'm tired. I ain't got no energy.
- 31:35Speaker 5: I got to get up and go to work tomorrow.
- 31:37Speaker 5: You're still talking about some other club you want to join.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Don't you fill out? And the permission slipt. Don't you
- 31:42Speaker 5: even ask them about the club they got? Because we're
- 31:44Speaker 5: not doing nothing else. I'm tired. So he was to
- 31:49Speaker 5: say he did something. I said, boy, look here, God,
- 31:56Speaker 5: I said, God, look here.
- 31:58Speaker 3: I don't want you to come and get him, but
- 31:59Speaker 3: I want you to sit him down for just a minute.
- 32:04Speaker 3: I'm tied, and I don't think he understands what it
- 32:07Speaker 3: means for me to be tied.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Right They don't, They don't, They don't, man, And then
- 32:13Speaker 6: I tell you this, you know. So I told a
- 32:16Speaker 6: partner of mine, I said, man, look I say, and
- 32:18Speaker 6: like you said, play Jayleen was in the play, right,
- 32:21Speaker 6: so he's done. He's done some good in the play.
- 32:24Speaker 6: Now the girls want to be in the play. So okay,
- 32:27Speaker 6: you know, so now they're saying they want to be
- 32:29Speaker 6: in a play.
- 32:30Speaker 2: But this the thing, and you know this. They're in
- 32:33Speaker 2: different age groups.
- 32:34Speaker 6: So one gonna have a practice this time, one got
- 32:38Speaker 6: to practice that time, and then the other one doing
- 32:41Speaker 6: this and like you said, one playing football, these two
- 32:44Speaker 6: one to cheer lead. I of looked at the schedule.
- 32:46Speaker 6: They're not on the same time, they're not the same age.
- 32:49Speaker 6: So I'm thinking in my head, okay, how we're gonna
- 32:53Speaker 6: do this? And I told my wife, I said, look
- 32:56Speaker 6: what we're gonna do with Jalen got.
- 32:57Speaker 2: To I said, football games? Of course you're going.
- 32:59Speaker 6: I said, yeah, but this one chill leading and this
- 33:01Speaker 6: one chill leading, we're gonna miss something, you know what
- 33:04Speaker 6: I mean. So I'm really trying to figure that out
- 33:07Speaker 6: right now, you know, like how we're gonna balance that.
- 33:10Speaker 2: But when it comes to just and when it.
- 33:12Speaker 6: Comes to just balancing them with everyday life, I think
- 33:15Speaker 6: It's one of those things that you know, you just
- 33:17Speaker 6: get used to and once you once you get it
- 33:20Speaker 6: is it's all good. So I've been doing good so far.
- 33:23Speaker 6: Pray for me, though, I.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Gave myself whiplash one time. Come my boys was playing
- 33:29Speaker 3: baseball and that dunk and park. Now they had games
- 33:34Speaker 3: at the same time, so you know, they got.
- 33:36Speaker 5: The two pills. So I'm sitting all the time.
- 33:41Speaker 3: I'm going from this side to that side, and they like,
- 33:44Speaker 3: what are you doing? I got two kids playing I
- 33:48Speaker 3: need to be at because you know they're gonna be like, Mama,
- 33:50Speaker 3: did you see me right?
- 33:52Speaker 2: Right right?
- 33:54Speaker 5: I saw what I could see.
- 33:56Speaker 3: I ain't see everything, so I got I would have
- 34:00Speaker 3: from my phone. Now I'm trying to if I'm not
- 34:03Speaker 3: looking with my eyes, I'm looky. I got the camera
- 34:05Speaker 3: over there, so I'm like, and then I have my
- 34:08Speaker 3: daughter with me. I'm like, listen, you gonna sit on
- 34:12Speaker 3: this side over here, you tell me what we're gonna
- 34:15Speaker 3: recap after the game, and were gonna go that way?
- 34:19Speaker 3: Because my head hurts, my neck hurts, I'm doing this
- 34:24Speaker 3: the whole time. This is too much, But I would
- 34:30Speaker 3: not trade those moments for anything, and to look back
- 34:35Speaker 3: over all of that, and I'm lying. And I told
- 34:36Speaker 3: my kids, I'm like, look and when my boys they
- 34:39Speaker 3: were on the traveling football team, and so if I
- 34:43Speaker 3: could make it, like if I was sick or something
- 34:45Speaker 3: like that, I called my dad and my brother. Look
- 34:48Speaker 3: they playing in rock Hill, y'all in Charlotte. Get down
- 34:51Speaker 3: enough to the pill, Send me a pictures, send me
- 34:54Speaker 3: whatever you got going on. And I really don't care
- 34:57Speaker 3: what it is, but somebody be there to support them
- 35:01Speaker 3: because Mama can't go, and they always want somebody, don't
- 35:05Speaker 3: care who it is, to know that they got that support.
- 35:09Speaker 3: And I'm grateful for the support system that I've had
- 35:11Speaker 3: with my kids, and that plays a major part in that,
- 35:15Speaker 3: having that support system, and not just your wife, you know,
- 35:19Speaker 3: because that's that's number one, but having the outside sources
- 35:24Speaker 3: like aunties, grands. I don't really have my mom anymore.
- 35:29Speaker 3: You don't have yours either, but you know when we
- 35:32Speaker 3: did have them, when I had mine, I could say,
- 35:37Speaker 3: my mama let my kids get away with too much,
- 35:39Speaker 3: and I'll just be like, look, mom, look here, I said.
- 35:42Speaker 5: No, she'd be like majo business. And I see now
- 35:45Speaker 5: I'm the same way with mine.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Because my daughter says, I need to show her the
- 35:51Speaker 3: version of me that they had when they were growing up.
- 35:54Speaker 3: And I'm like, I don't know what you talk about.
- 35:56Speaker 3: I have absolutely I did what you're talking about. You know, yeah,
- 36:02Speaker 3: I don't know what you're talking about. Like my daughter
- 36:04Speaker 3: was complaining about her daughter coming in the bathroom with her,
- 36:09Speaker 3: and I was like, you're grown now and you still
- 36:12Speaker 3: come in the bathroom with me, So what's the difference.
- 36:15Speaker 5: I said that half the time, both of y'all come
- 36:18Speaker 5: in the.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Bathroom with me, and she said, but that's different because
- 36:21Speaker 3: you my mama. I'm still trying to figure out her
- 36:27Speaker 3: logic to that statement, because you can figure.
- 36:30Speaker 6: Out what's going on with it.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Out yet because she said you my mama. I understand, but.
- 36:41Speaker 3: She you her mama, and both of y'all still come
- 36:45Speaker 3: in the bathroom with me, and I'll be wanting to
- 36:48Speaker 3: escape and have my peace and quiet time to.
- 36:51Speaker 2: They don't have to do it. It don't happen.
- 36:58Speaker 6: I can tell you this though, that that piece and
- 37:01Speaker 6: uh in the household with three kids.
- 37:04Speaker 2: That ain't happening.
- 37:06Speaker 6: That's why I tell people, they say, man, how do
- 37:08Speaker 6: you do it? I said, what you mean I said
- 37:10Speaker 6: I have my piece, but I just don't have my
- 37:11Speaker 6: piece in the household. These three kids like what you mean.
- 37:14Speaker 6: I'm like, man, look, it's something every five seconds. If
- 37:19Speaker 6: they want this, they want this, they want that, and
- 37:22Speaker 6: then they're on this thing. If one get it, the
- 37:25Speaker 6: other two gotta get it. And I'm just like, look here, man,
- 37:28Speaker 6: this is getting too much. So my my wife, she'll
- 37:31Speaker 6: try to talk to them. They listen, but then again
- 37:34Speaker 6: it's like they're gonna ask her something and she say no,
- 37:38Speaker 6: they'll come ask me, and then I say no, they're
- 37:41Speaker 6: gonna as something like wait, man, y'all playing both sides.
- 37:43Speaker 2: This, ain't you know? No means no.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Front on that in the United Front. That was one
- 37:54Speaker 3: thing when my kids father an hour together, Lord have
- 37:58Speaker 3: mercy when I say they will always they could get
- 38:02Speaker 3: over on him a lot more than they could get
- 38:04Speaker 3: away with it with me.
- 38:06Speaker 5: But he would always be.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Like, did I come and ask you such a such
- 38:10Speaker 3: because I don't want to give her no answer if
- 38:12Speaker 3: you already told her no, And I'm like, oh.
- 38:16Speaker 5: She already she already know the answer is no.
- 38:20Speaker 3: That's why you're calling you because you know you are
- 38:22Speaker 3: weakling for it. You gonna give it to her, So
- 38:25Speaker 3: she trying. I said, you know what, the kids would
- 38:31Speaker 3: do that, but y'all definitely got to be there on
- 38:34Speaker 3: their United Front. And they kids, oh my god, they're
- 38:37Speaker 3: so sneaky when it comes to this, because they try
- 38:39Speaker 3: to make sure that you're not within earshot of hearing
- 38:43Speaker 3: what we asked for the other parents because they want
- 38:46Speaker 3: to get that. Oh my gosh, they want to get
- 38:49Speaker 3: what they want. They don't care that No, they want
- 38:55Speaker 3: what they want and they gonna try to figure out
- 38:59Speaker 3: get daddy to say yeah. And if I get daddy
- 39:01Speaker 3: to say yeah, I ain't got worried about what mama saying, right.
- 39:04Speaker 6: I mean, I'm gonna tell you my baby girl, she
- 39:07Speaker 6: got this thing man, and I uncoughed. I'm picked up
- 39:11Speaker 6: on it. I'm not. I'm not going for it no more.
- 39:13Speaker 6: I shut it off last weekend.
- 39:14Speaker 2: It's not happy. So when she want something, when she
- 39:18Speaker 2: wants something, I tell her, I say no. She said, okay.
- 39:21Speaker 2: She dropped her shoulders, drop her head. She walk off.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Well be them. Five minutes later, you're here. Oh you
- 39:28Speaker 2: know what, I'm like, what's long?
- 39:29Speaker 6: I fell, you know, be limping and going on here
- 39:33Speaker 6: and then somewhere in't it? When she talked to me,
- 39:36Speaker 6: I said, you, okay, yeah, can I have what I done?
- 39:39Speaker 2: Told her she couldn't.
- 39:40Speaker 6: Can I have an icy? And I get the feeling
- 39:42Speaker 6: sorry for her? So yeah, you can go ahead and
- 39:45Speaker 6: have it. So I'm gonna tell you what was funny.
- 39:47Speaker 6: Last week. She falls, messes up her ankle. She say,
- 39:52Speaker 6: got it down packed. She lifted through the house and everything.
- 39:55Speaker 6: So I'm kind of looking at him. I say, which
- 39:57Speaker 6: ankle is? She said this one? I said, okay, but
- 40:01Speaker 6: I ain't gonna say that. She said what I said,
- 40:03Speaker 6: look at her? She limping like it's the other one.
- 40:05Speaker 6: I said, she ain't.
- 40:06Speaker 2: She ain't gonna get me this time. Can I have
- 40:08Speaker 2: an icy? I said, no?
- 40:09Speaker 6: Vedam them ankles turned better, stump to the ground, ran off.
- 40:14Speaker 6: I said, see what I'm saying. I said, Man, these
- 40:16Speaker 6: kids right here, you can't trust these days. Ain't nothing
- 40:19Speaker 6: even wrong with the ankle. She was trying to.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Get me the you know. I said, yes if I
- 40:23Speaker 2: feel sorry for it. No, I'm not going for it
- 40:25Speaker 2: no moment. And so.
- 40:29Speaker 5: Listen, these kids, I swell, these.
- 40:33Speaker 3: I don't even know if they pandemic babies or what.
- 40:35Speaker 3: But I'm gonna tell you something. Listen, grand daughter. Let
- 40:38Speaker 3: me tell you. Oh my god, Lisa. She was about
- 40:41Speaker 3: three months old. I was babysitting her. You know, she
- 40:44Speaker 3: just wandering and crying and I'm like, okay, so I'm
- 40:47Speaker 3: I get over the tool. I don't see not one
- 40:50Speaker 3: tear coming out of her eyes. And so I look
- 40:52Speaker 3: at her and I'm like, you, donet made all this noise,
- 40:56Speaker 3: and there is your eyes ry, there's no tears, I
- 41:00Speaker 3: tell you now, She's only three months at this time.
- 41:03Speaker 3: The next time she started to cry and scream. Do
- 41:06Speaker 3: you know she was squeezing them eyes so tight until
- 41:09Speaker 3: tears started to come out her eyes. I said, you
- 41:12Speaker 3: don't been here before that. You haven't been here before
- 41:15Speaker 3: because in the world, you know what I'm talking about,
- 41:19Speaker 3: what you even know what.
- 41:20Speaker 5: A till looked like like you do.
- 41:24Speaker 3: And so anytime she cries now and this is the funny.
- 41:27Speaker 3: She's a year old now, and she fries and she
- 41:31Speaker 3: makes a noise or she gets hurt or something like that,
- 41:34Speaker 3: she looks to see if you're looking, and if you're.
- 41:38Speaker 5: Looking, she does this and then she'll go and I'm like,
- 41:45Speaker 5: I'm not buying it.
- 41:48Speaker 3: And so she got yelling and caring on the head
- 41:51Speaker 3: the other day and she just started I said, okay, listen,
- 41:54Speaker 3: let me ask you a question. What's all this emotion for?
- 41:57Speaker 3: What's the problem?
- 41:59Speaker 5: She looking like, are you really asking?
- 42:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm asking you what's the matter, because I need
- 42:05Speaker 3: you to tell me what you're doing all of this for.
- 42:07Speaker 5: She's gonna look at me and be like, I said,
- 42:14Speaker 5: what did you cut out? In noise out? Because you
- 42:16Speaker 5: ain't got no reason for you to be doing that.
- 42:18Speaker 5: Ain't nobody getting that to you.
- 42:20Speaker 3: You was in with the little blocks, and all of
- 42:22Speaker 3: a sudden you don't want to play with the blocks
- 42:24Speaker 3: no more.
- 42:24Speaker 5: So you mad at everybody else in the house.
- 42:26Speaker 2: That what it is.
- 42:29Speaker 5: I'm like, you can't be doing all that no today.
- 42:34Speaker 6: I don't know, man, these kids is different. I'm just
- 42:37Speaker 6: I'm holding in the role. I ain't got no choice.
- 42:41Speaker 6: I let them know. Look, Daddy'll never I'll never just
- 42:46Speaker 6: not help you in any situation. I do all I can,
- 42:50Speaker 6: you know, and i'ma love you regardless, you know, from
- 42:52Speaker 6: here to the moon whatever.
- 42:54Speaker 2: But y'all gotta y y'all gotta work with me a
- 42:57Speaker 2: little bit. You know what.
- 42:58Speaker 6: I mean every times up. I'm gonna tell you this.
- 43:01Speaker 6: I was doing a podcast one night. Now my wife
- 43:04Speaker 6: was gone. I let you know, she go out with
- 43:06Speaker 6: her homegirls or whatever, So okay, cool me not thinking.
- 43:09Speaker 6: I'm like, okay, I'm gonna shoot this podcast. And I'm
- 43:12Speaker 6: shooting it. You know, I'm looking at it. What no guests,
- 43:14Speaker 6: I'm just shooting it. And all of a sudden, they
- 43:18Speaker 6: running behind me, back your phone, and I'm just like,
- 43:21Speaker 6: you know, I had to delete it.
- 43:22Speaker 2: You know, I'm saying, y'all gonna sit down, let me
- 43:24Speaker 2: finish this. Okay.
- 43:26Speaker 6: I started that. It's I Jayalen running behind me. I said,
- 43:29Speaker 6: you know what I told the audience. I said, you
- 43:30Speaker 6: know what, y'all, this ain't gonna get this ain't gonna
- 43:32Speaker 6: happen to night. I said, this is all while I
- 43:34Speaker 6: talked to y'all. Lady faul getting off. One of my
- 43:36Speaker 6: partners was looking at it.
- 43:37Speaker 2: He said, man, tell them kids to sit there.
- 43:40Speaker 6: I said, man, them kids or something else. Man, I
- 43:42Speaker 6: don't know what I was thinking. Knowing darn well, I
- 43:45Speaker 6: wasn't gonna get no peace while I was doing the
- 43:47Speaker 6: podcast with them around here. But hey, that's that's them.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Kids.
- 43:50Speaker 3: For you know, I understand that completely. My granddaughter like
- 43:56Speaker 3: her my daughter, and they just left. Anytime I get
- 44:00Speaker 3: ready to do a podcast and she's here, she has
- 44:03Speaker 3: to show her face. She she knows what I'm doing
- 44:06Speaker 3: and she has to be a part of And so
- 44:09Speaker 3: I told her. I said I'm gonna see you tomorrow.
- 44:12Speaker 3: And I was like, grandma gotta do her podcast. And
- 44:15Speaker 3: she I was like, so, I'm gonna see you tomorrow.
- 44:17Speaker 5: She's like, I said, no, you gotta go home right now.
- 44:21Speaker 5: I got my podcast to do, she said.
- 44:25Speaker 3: I said, man, listen, I'm gonna see you tomorrow.
- 44:29Speaker 5: And her mama sitting up there and.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Said, okay, you cannot be part of your your grandma's podcast.
- 44:35Speaker 5: She gotta work. She looked at her and said, mm hmmm, wow,
- 44:40Speaker 5: oh wow. You go home. You'll see me tomorrow. But
- 44:45Speaker 5: this is the thing I had told her when she
- 44:47Speaker 5: was probably about six months old.
- 44:48Speaker 3: I said, listen, you're gonna be my secretary for my
- 44:51Speaker 3: publishing business.
- 44:53Speaker 5: I said, so you're gonna help me do that.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Now.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Anytime I open up this laptop, she comes and try
- 45:00Speaker 3: to get her stuff done. She had her little paper,
- 45:03Speaker 3: she got her little pen. Honey, she is ready for
- 45:06Speaker 3: the job.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Get this. She is very smart to be a year old.
- 45:12Speaker 5: And I'm like, look, I don't know where you done
- 45:14Speaker 5: came from.
- 45:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 45:16Speaker 5: I don't know nothing about where you came from.
- 45:18Speaker 3: But I got to be on my p's and q's
- 45:20Speaker 3: because this little girl will tell you what she needs
- 45:23Speaker 3: you to know.
- 45:24Speaker 5: She ain't got a few.
- 45:25Speaker 3: She knows, you know, a little bit of stuff her
- 45:27Speaker 3: kamlaying all the way there, but what she knows what
- 45:30Speaker 3: she want to tell you.
- 45:32Speaker 5: I get on the phone with her, and I swear
- 45:35Speaker 5: half of it. I don't know, but she'll come in
- 45:38Speaker 5: the house now. Like yesterday she came out and I
- 45:41Speaker 5: walked in. She was like, hey baby, right.
- 45:49Speaker 3: I see her Like if I'm coming home from work
- 45:51Speaker 3: or whatever, I'm like, hey baby, you do it.
- 45:54Speaker 2: So I walk.
- 45:57Speaker 5: Exactly what she said to me, Hey babe.
- 46:02Speaker 3: I was talking to one of my coworkers on the
- 46:04Speaker 3: phone and I was like, let me tell you about
- 46:07Speaker 3: what happened that work today, And so she was like, Sha.
- 46:14Speaker 2: You gotta you gotta to watch what you saying around them.
- 46:18Speaker 6: Oh goodness, because my kids, man, when they was like
- 46:23Speaker 6: when they was younger, you know, I tell people say,
- 46:27Speaker 6: he oh, don't don't do that.
- 46:29Speaker 2: They're like, what you mean? I said the same thing
- 46:31Speaker 2: you saying, They're gonna repeat it when you leave. You know.
- 46:34Speaker 2: I talked my son, my little girl, and my wife.
- 46:37Speaker 6: She'll she'll say something and then my middle child will
- 46:40Speaker 6: go right back and repeat it the same way.
- 46:42Speaker 2: I was like, no, no, no, don't say that like that.
- 46:44Speaker 6: You don't take that out of that and then put
- 46:46Speaker 6: it together, you know what I mean.
- 46:48Speaker 2: She's like, I'm sorry. I'm like, yeah, okay, but I
- 46:51Speaker 2: look at you like you just don't stop it.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Got They these kids are just like sponges. Whatever you
- 47:03Speaker 3: put down, they're gonna pick it up and absorb it.
- 47:07Speaker 3: And it's just a blessings that they're able to do that.
- 47:10Speaker 3: But at times it's like that ain't no. Because my granddaddy,
- 47:21Speaker 3: like she tries to help me. Was when I'm cooking
- 47:24Speaker 3: or whatever. And so I was at work earlier and
- 47:27Speaker 3: my daughter called me and they were here, and so
- 47:30Speaker 3: she was she.
- 47:31Speaker 5: Was crying about wanting one of her little way for
- 47:34Speaker 5: cookies off the.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Counter, and so I was like, well, why didn't you
- 47:38Speaker 3: give it to it? She was like I didn't know
- 47:39Speaker 3: what she was talking about she took me to the kitchen.
- 47:42Speaker 5: I said, well, she know what her slack said.
- 47:44Speaker 2: I said, so she told you.
- 47:45Speaker 5: Where it was.
- 47:46Speaker 3: And you getting mad at her cause she's telling you
- 47:48Speaker 3: to give you to give her what she asking for.
- 47:51Speaker 2: I can't do it. She's talking about.
- 47:55Speaker 3: She just doing too much, She doing too much, She
- 47:58Speaker 3: do too much over here at her t t house.
- 48:00Speaker 5: You just let her get away with ever.
- 48:02Speaker 3: What was the mama act that I had that we
- 48:04Speaker 3: couldn't get away with her? I said, no, ma'am, just
- 48:08Speaker 3: give her her little snacks, and said she got some
- 48:10Speaker 3: little pump things in there too.
- 48:12Speaker 5: Just get her a little plate and let her have
- 48:14Speaker 5: her little snacks. So she gave her. So I'm on
- 48:16Speaker 5: the plate.
- 48:17Speaker 3: So I'm sitting here while she's talking about now she's
- 48:19Speaker 3: mocking me.
- 48:20Speaker 5: She over there sitting in the floor doing like that.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Oh God, I said, she's nice.
- 48:26Speaker 3: So every time my daughter would put the camera on her,
- 48:29Speaker 3: she'd be still. But she said, you don't see her,
- 48:37Speaker 3: she said, because you know she's gonna be in trouble
- 48:39Speaker 3: if you see her.
- 48:39Speaker 6: Doing I said, today, kids is whatever. I'm just enjoying them,
- 48:48Speaker 6: every every every day, every second. They're growing up so fast,
- 48:53Speaker 6: and it's one thing, one thing you can't do. You
- 48:56Speaker 6: can't slow down time. And I tell you, man, if
- 49:00Speaker 6: I could, if I could, I would because my son, Man,
- 49:04Speaker 6: you know, it just seemed like yesterday he was the
- 49:06Speaker 6: same little kid that was in the hospital. Now he's
- 49:09Speaker 6: growing up, going out in the world, got his new
- 49:11Speaker 6: new little friends and stuff like that.
- 49:13Speaker 2: And I'm like, well, you know, I was the same way.
- 49:16Speaker 6: And then it's crazy when you sit back and look
- 49:18Speaker 6: at him and you get on him sometime, but you
- 49:21Speaker 6: gotta think, wait.
- 49:21Speaker 2: A minute, and he get that from me, you know
- 49:24Speaker 2: I was. I was like that.
- 49:26Speaker 6: So I tell him now, you know, I try to
- 49:28Speaker 6: get him express his emotions a little better.
- 49:30Speaker 2: I'm like, he's like, what I do wrong? Hold up,
- 49:33Speaker 2: that's not your father.
- 49:34Speaker 6: I was the same way, I said, So what I'm
- 49:37Speaker 6: gonna do now is show you how to get over
- 49:41Speaker 6: these hanks, over these her because think about it, Jaylen,
- 49:45Speaker 6: he said what I say, I've been through it. I
- 49:48Speaker 6: think I'm the originator of it because you you got
- 49:50Speaker 6: it from me. So yeah, just listen to me and
- 49:55Speaker 6: we'll get over it. And then he'll still keep doing
- 49:57Speaker 6: it that way.
- 49:58Speaker 2: But then he'll come back. He'll be like, you know,
- 50:00Speaker 2: but yeah, I thank you.
- 50:01Speaker 6: Was right, I know, but it's gonna take for you
- 50:05Speaker 6: to see it, and you know when you see it,
- 50:07Speaker 6: you'll get it right.
- 50:08Speaker 2: So it is what it is.
- 50:10Speaker 3: Well, I want to tell you how much I appreciate
- 50:13Speaker 3: you for being here tonight. So I want to tell
- 50:16Speaker 3: you how proud I am for you to just to
- 50:19Speaker 3: see you grow and blossom into the space in which
- 50:22Speaker 3: you are right now.
- 50:23Speaker 5: I am just honored and grateful to be a part
- 50:27Speaker 5: of your growth, you know, So.
- 50:30Speaker 3: Continue to do what you're doing, continue to inspire and
- 50:33Speaker 3: reach out in any kind of way that if I
- 50:36Speaker 3: can help, let me know, and vice versa.
- 50:40Speaker 5: I'm sure.
- 50:41Speaker 3: But tell the people who are watching, we've had some
- 50:44Speaker 3: comments in there, and I know they've been laughing at us,
- 50:46Speaker 3: but I can't couldn't read all of it, but we'll
- 50:50Speaker 3: go back and watch it in comment at the when
- 50:52Speaker 3: we look at it.
- 50:54Speaker 5: But how they can get in contact with you?
- 50:58Speaker 2: Okay?
