- 0:08Speaker 1: And I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. When you're a guest to my home, you
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty. And I said, no, guest,
- 0:27Speaker 1: You're own presences. Presence and.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I already had too much stuff, So how do you
- 0:36Speaker 2: dare to surbey me?
- 0:49Speaker 3: Welcome to I said, no gifts, I'm Pritchard Wineger. We're
- 0:54Speaker 3: here in the studio. I've had a surprisingly efficient morning.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I went to Costco, got in, got out, got exactly
- 1:03Speaker 3: what I needed, some breakfast bars because Jim has been
- 1:06Speaker 3: eating mine because he overinvested in his type of bars,
- 1:09Speaker 3: and those are the Robert Irving or something. Irvine, the
- 1:13Speaker 3: guy who did the restaurant Impossible, has now started making
- 1:17Speaker 3: bars and they're disgusting. So now Jim's eating mine. And
- 1:22Speaker 3: I had to go to Costco. And then I put
- 1:24Speaker 3: my bars on the conveyor belt and the person behind
- 1:26Speaker 3: me corrected the way I put them on the conveyor belt.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I didn't say anything to him, and he had grazed
- 1:31Speaker 3: my ankle with his cart, so I guess I saved
- 1:34Speaker 3: it all just to talk about on the podcast rather
- 1:37Speaker 3: than confront him. He was bald, I was wearing I
- 1:40Speaker 3: had a gold chain, so keep your eye out for him.
- 1:44Speaker 3: What else is going on? I've been watching The Mortician.
- 1:48Speaker 3: This is a documentary on HBO. If you haven't heard
- 1:51Speaker 3: of this, it's kind of about a mortician who runs
- 1:53Speaker 3: a crematory where he this isn't giving anything away. He
- 1:58Speaker 3: put a lot of bodies into the friar at once
- 2:02Speaker 3: and was you know, I don't see that much wrong
- 2:07Speaker 3: with it, very efficient. He was doing like forty thousand
- 2:09Speaker 3: bodies a year. Maybe there were some suspicious deaths around him,
- 2:15Speaker 3: don't I can't speak to that. I also, look, if
- 2:20Speaker 3: my body gets thrown into the fryar with a bunch
- 2:22Speaker 3: more and it's not a friar, it's an oven. Sure,
- 2:26Speaker 3: if my ashes get mixed up, my family gets somebody else,
- 2:29Speaker 3: maybe look at somebody with a better personality. I don't know.
- 2:32Speaker 3: I don't think it's that big of a deal. I'm
- 2:35Speaker 3: on his side. And if, truly, if anyone in my
- 2:39Speaker 3: family spends more than fifty dollars on my funeral, I'm
- 2:41Speaker 3: coming back and I will make your lives a living hell.
- 2:46Speaker 3: What else Patreon continues to exist. I think by the
- 2:49Speaker 3: time this is out will be kind of wrapping up
- 2:52Speaker 3: season two of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. It's been
- 2:54Speaker 3: quite a journey, and it's been explosive, absolutely explosive. So
- 2:59Speaker 3: get on there, join us for bonus episodes, whatever, let's
- 3:03Speaker 3: get into the show. I adore today's guest. He's fantastic.
- 3:08Speaker 3: It's Beck Bennett.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Oh god, it's so nice to be here.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I'm so happy you could be here.
- 3:13Speaker 4: I really, it's really a pleasure to be in your
- 3:15Speaker 4: you know, in your what's the word, I don't have
- 3:18Speaker 4: the word, not your studio, but you're like or in
- 3:22Speaker 4: your orbit. Yeah, you're comforting, like I feel very taking
- 3:25Speaker 4: care of him. I hope, I feel like I could.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Like we talked a little bit before, we said we
- 3:29Speaker 4: can say anything to go anywhere, and it really feels
- 3:32Speaker 4: that way. It feels like there are no judgments here.
- 3:34Speaker 3: There will be no judgments. I'm only asking questions.
- 3:36Speaker 4: It's great to be here in a judgment for his own,
- 3:38Speaker 4: you know, because most places these days, you're gonna you
- 3:41Speaker 4: say the wrong thing, you do the wrong thing, You're
- 3:43Speaker 4: gonna get a look.
- 3:44Speaker 3: You can't be funny anymore.
- 3:45Speaker 4: You can't be funny.
- 3:48Speaker 3: People are so icy, they're so sensitive.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Yes, they really are but I you know, I gotta
- 3:54Speaker 4: I'm I'm blown away by your Costco story. There's so
- 3:57Speaker 4: many things there that I really want to jump on.
- 4:00Speaker 4: First of all, the bar. What's your bar?
- 4:03Speaker 3: My bar is a it's called a think bar.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Oh, yes, the think bar. The twenty grams approach, no sugar,
- 4:10Speaker 4: no sugar. Absolutely, so I I've always done those. Oh
- 4:13Speaker 4: I did the peanut butter ones.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Yes, sure, And they started to have a little bit.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Of a like a funk smell to them. And I'm like,
- 4:19Speaker 4: is this because they've been sitting on the shelves for
- 4:21Speaker 4: two years, three years? Or is it the flavor? And
- 4:23Speaker 4: I switched over to a chocolate okay, flavor and it
- 4:27Speaker 4: doesn't have the same smell.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Now they have the Variety pack, which is a chocolate
- 4:31Speaker 3: and a peanut butter okay. And I think the problem
- 4:34Speaker 3: is if you eat too many at like in a row,
- 4:37Speaker 3: if you.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Have like a ten pack a day, then.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I don't get it. No, you have to every other
- 4:45Speaker 3: day or you start to recognize, oh, this is a
- 4:47Speaker 3: bad tasting thing.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Yeah, this is this is fake. This is not good. Right.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Science has created a thing that, like your brain can
- 4:53Speaker 3: be tricked momentarily but then it starts to catch on. Yeah,
- 4:56Speaker 3: so if you alternate, it's fine.
- 4:59Speaker 4: It's fine.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Are you eating these for breakfast?
- 5:01Speaker 4: No? These are These are snacks and like that. Bring
- 5:04Speaker 4: them with me when I don't have time for a meal,
- 5:05Speaker 4: you know, in between type of thing.
- 5:07Speaker 3: I'll put them in my backpack if I'm going on
- 5:09Speaker 3: a flight. This kind of it's nice.
- 5:12Speaker 4: At the same time, they are they are covered in
- 5:15Speaker 4: some sort of sugar free chocolate that will melt.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yeah, so that was a little bit of a hiccup.
- 5:21Speaker 4: I would like a non chocolate cover so they're impervious
- 5:24Speaker 4: to the melting situation and I don't make a mess
- 5:26Speaker 4: when I open it.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I do have five currently five boxes in my car
- 5:30Speaker 3: and it's about eighty five degrees.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Yeah, they're cooked. They are just one big blob. And
- 5:34Speaker 4: you can put them in the freezer and pull them off.
- 5:36Speaker 4: You know, they've got that weird shape to it. You know,
- 5:39Speaker 4: you can bring the shape back.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yeah. The chocolate and the peanut butter will mix together
- 5:42Speaker 3: a little bit. It'll be a new type and I
- 5:44Speaker 3: need to mix up.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, that's a good way to mix up your bars.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Just put them in your car and melt them away
- 5:49Speaker 4: and just give them a new form.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And I mean the chemicals every day. Yeah, for probably
- 5:55Speaker 3: the last four years.
- 5:56Speaker 4: I think they're the most effective power bar.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Yeah, protein bar, because I've tried to others. You know,
- 6:01Speaker 3: there's the guy that my boyfriend has been eating them.
- 6:04Speaker 4: I'm surprised he went with his bars. I mean, like
- 6:06Speaker 4: you're talking about the restaurant.
- 6:07Speaker 3: The rescue guy has a bar, the guy that's like
- 6:10Speaker 3: super jazz.
- 6:11Speaker 4: And that's like definitely is emotional problems.
- 6:14Speaker 3: And I don't think any of the skills required to
- 6:16Speaker 3: do the show he's doing.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I don't think, like what expertise is he bringing to
- 6:21Speaker 3: the bars, to the restaurants or the bars.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Yeah, he's not. It's not It doesn't seem helpful to me.
- 6:27Speaker 2: No.
- 6:27Speaker 3: I feel like he was like probably part of Seal
- 6:29Speaker 3: Team six or something and he's like, now I'm going
- 6:31Speaker 3: to save Dumpy restaurant in Nebraska. And I don't think
- 6:35Speaker 3: anyone should trust anything he's doing.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Absolutely not. I'm not surprised that the bars.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Were bars are revolting. They are the sweetest. They look
- 6:43Speaker 3: like they are appealing. It looks like a candy bar
- 6:46Speaker 3: has kind of you would think maybe these are candy
- 6:49Speaker 3: bar ingredients. Yeah, you bite into that thing and that's sugar,
- 6:52Speaker 3: alcohol all the way.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Really crazy, the variety of bars out there. You don't
- 6:56Speaker 4: know what is a candy bar, what's going to be
- 6:58Speaker 4: sort of good for you?
- 6:59Speaker 3: And at Costco you get into that aisle.
- 7:01Speaker 4: It's I haven't made it yet. I'm a member of Costco.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Here's the other thing. Haven't even made it in yet. No.
- 7:07Speaker 4: I joined for my son's third birthday.
- 7:11Speaker 3: He begged you.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Yeah, he was like. I was like, okay, I'm going
- 7:14Speaker 4: to go get all the juice boxes and everything for
- 7:16Speaker 4: the birthday party, and which he he threw up an
- 7:20Speaker 4: hour into the birthday party and it was just it
- 7:22Speaker 4: was all wasted. Basically, everybody went home and everybody was scared.
- 7:26Speaker 4: But I went to Costco to get a membership for
- 7:28Speaker 4: me and my wife. I was like, I'm going out
- 7:32Speaker 4: of town or something. I was getting it so she
- 7:34Speaker 4: could go shopping when I was getting out of town
- 7:36Speaker 4: or something. And there was this whole thing where they
- 7:38Speaker 4: were like, no, she has to come here and show.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Her idea and she will serious about it.
- 7:44Speaker 4: It was so intense.
- 7:45Speaker 3: They do they don't play games.
- 7:46Speaker 4: They do not play games. It was so it was yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 4: it was very intense. And then the last thing I
- 7:53Speaker 4: want to say about that opening story is the guy
- 7:55Speaker 4: who he rearranged your.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Bars, yes, without my permission.
- 8:00Speaker 4: That is that is so I would. I mean, of
- 8:03Speaker 4: course you have this place to just unload and be
- 8:06Speaker 4: like the guy with the chain costco, be careful. He's
- 8:09Speaker 4: going to go over your heels.
- 8:10Speaker 3: That is just we got him.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Yeah, the other and the other. Just yesterday, I was
- 8:14Speaker 4: at a farmer's market with my son in a in
- 8:17Speaker 4: a what's it called a wagon, that's what it's called,
- 8:22Speaker 4: like a red wagon. Yeah, no, but it's like black
- 8:25Speaker 4: and it like folds off. It's kind of like an
- 8:27Speaker 4: escalade of wagons, which is why I like don't think
- 8:30Speaker 4: of burgage. Yeah. Basically, and I'm going through and there's
- 8:34Speaker 4: just when you have a child and like older guys
- 8:38Speaker 4: typically or like just like standing there and not getting
- 8:41Speaker 4: out of the way. I basically ran over him and
- 8:45Speaker 4: I was like I walked by and I was like,
- 8:49Speaker 4: excuse me, excuse me, and he like I just went
- 8:52Speaker 4: I was going forward, went over his foot a little bit.
- 8:55Speaker 4: He was pulling back, you know, and as he was
- 8:57Speaker 4: pulling back. I said, you can do it. Oh excuse me, sorry, anyway,
- 9:02Speaker 4: that to me, the relating things that I have.
- 9:05Speaker 3: It's a big issue for me in my life. Something
- 9:07Speaker 3: that nothing will send me off, like someone not being
- 9:09Speaker 3: aware of how much space the bottle is taking up.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Yeah. Meanwhile, my wife was in line for uh, I
- 9:14Speaker 4: forget what it was. She was getting like these like
- 9:16Speaker 4: rice ball things at the farmer's market, right, and a
- 9:19Speaker 4: woman was hovering over her shoulder, and she was like,
- 9:21Speaker 4: this woman has been hovering over me. She's been like
- 9:24Speaker 4: right up against my back. Every time I move forward,
- 9:26Speaker 4: she like almost almost bumps into me. And she was
- 9:28Speaker 4: at the point of like I'm about to say something,
- 9:31Speaker 4: of course, and then she went to get her food
- 9:32Speaker 4: and the woman was hovering over her again. I'm like,
- 9:35Speaker 4: I have to say something. I have to. I'm the
- 9:39Speaker 4: person who says something.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Did you say something?
- 9:40Speaker 4: Oh not not in that, you know. To the guy,
- 9:42Speaker 4: I said, you can do it, and I ran over
- 9:44Speaker 4: his foot.
- 9:45Speaker 3: But usually these people are like if you do say something,
- 9:47Speaker 3: then suddenly you become the villain. You're the one that
- 9:50Speaker 3: was too sensitive.
- 9:51Speaker 4: It is, yeah, because they are if they're displaying that
- 9:53Speaker 4: sort of you know, that sort of behavior. They're off
- 9:56Speaker 4: and you don't know what you're messing with.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you have no idea of what rules they're following.
- 10:00Speaker 4: That's true, that's true. That's I subscribe to that for sure.
- 10:02Speaker 4: With any sort of sports thing. You know, a guy
- 10:06Speaker 4: weren't like people at sports bars and sports events or
- 10:09Speaker 4: road rage. You know, I'm like, never confrontation because but
- 10:13Speaker 4: in a supermarket, a farmer's market, I feel a little
- 10:16Speaker 4: maybe even maybe even the airport, I'm a little emboldened
- 10:21Speaker 4: because that's another lines hovering people being awful.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Right, and the airport there's enough security around. Nobody crosses
- 10:28Speaker 3: a line. You know they're going to be taken care of.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Yes, yes, And honestly, that's actually kind of a good idea.
- 10:32Speaker 4: I know, I kind of provoke it, kind of like
- 10:34Speaker 4: you can get rid of these people pretty clearly, like oh,
- 10:37Speaker 4: you know, and then back off all one of those
- 10:38Speaker 4: things sort of instigate, but then they come at you
- 10:41Speaker 4: and like, oh, sorry, you gotta go man like because
- 10:44Speaker 4: you cannot no mess around.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Their trip might be over right there. Yeah, you can
- 10:48Speaker 3: report them to SA immediately. I feel threatened. This person
- 10:51Speaker 3: said something in my ear.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's a little fake tattletale situation. Absolutely bade
- 10:57Speaker 4: people at the.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Heard the word bomb come out of his mouth. I
- 11:00Speaker 3: don't know, but take.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Care of him. I'm definitely gonna do that anytime somebody
- 11:05Speaker 4: does something to me at the airport.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Have you ever had a TSA your bag disassembled and
- 11:10Speaker 3: then take look through everything.
- 11:13Speaker 4: You know? I haven't had a while ago. It hasn't
- 11:17Speaker 4: been a long time, but recently, if anything, it's been
- 11:20Speaker 4: like they've gone through and they've I haven't really found anything.
- 11:24Speaker 4: They've been like pulled something out and been like, oh, yeah,
- 11:26Speaker 4: this is what it was. I'm like, okay, great. But
- 11:28Speaker 4: but the last time I flew, I was was coming
- 11:32Speaker 4: I was coming from New Orleans and the I went through,
- 11:38Speaker 4: everything was fine with the bag. But he's like a
- 11:41Speaker 4: little beeper went off right by my crotch. I was
- 11:43Speaker 4: wearing jeans with metal buttons.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Oh no, the worst kind of fly.
- 11:47Speaker 4: And he yeah, we're's absolutely the worst kind of fly.
- 11:50Speaker 4: I rarely, it's rarely. It's usually open.
- 11:52Speaker 3: It's a job.
- 11:53Speaker 4: It's a whole you gotta thing. And with these fingers,
- 11:58Speaker 4: these are sausages. These are not for you know, rock climbing. No,
- 12:02Speaker 4: these are cannot They saw me as a kid, and
- 12:05Speaker 4: they were like he's not going to be a will no, no, no, no,
- 12:09Speaker 4: not with these sausage fingers. But they were they didn't
- 12:12Speaker 4: take the wand out like it had been so long
- 12:14Speaker 4: since I was checked. And he was like, I'm gonna
- 12:16Speaker 4: need to check you, and he like, I was like, okay, sure,
- 12:19Speaker 4: and he went up my leg, you know, like fully just.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Kind of slithered up your ead.
- 12:24Speaker 4: Yeah, like really like kind of like like he was
- 12:26Speaker 4: climbing a tree, just kind of like choking up. You know.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I don't know if that's how you climbing, but yeah,
- 12:32Speaker 4: I have big thighs. You know you probably wanted to.
- 12:35Speaker 4: But he was really bumping, bumping my junk and then
- 12:37Speaker 4: on the other side and then he took the back
- 12:39Speaker 4: of his hand and went across my crotch like that,
- 12:42Speaker 4: and I was like and I and again, you know,
- 12:45Speaker 4: I I was this is you know, I could have
- 12:48Speaker 4: been a little more patient, but I was like what
- 12:49Speaker 4: I was like, do you want me to take my
- 12:51Speaker 4: pants off? And he was like, sir, sir, when I
- 12:54Speaker 4: need to check. I was like, okay, I just I
- 12:57Speaker 4: I wear these vans all the time. Okay, and but
- 12:59Speaker 4: it was like he was all over my penis.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that feels like a second permission needs to be asked.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Yeah, He's like I'm gonna touch you, and now I'm
- 13:06Speaker 3: going to touch further. Did you like that?
- 13:08Speaker 2: Right?
- 13:08Speaker 3: Right?
- 13:09Speaker 4: Right? Is that? Okay? You did ask me if I
- 13:11Speaker 4: wanted to go to a private room? Oh, and I
- 13:13Speaker 4: was like absolutely not no, because then you're gonna get
- 13:15Speaker 4: away with a lot more and then take my pants off,
- 13:19Speaker 4: and then like you bring some other people in and
- 13:22Speaker 4: you never want to go into the private room.
- 13:24Speaker 3: No, no, no, no no. Well then everyone's looking at you
- 13:26Speaker 3: and they're like now you like even after you leave
- 13:28Speaker 3: the private room, they're like what happened with him?
- 13:30Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah yeah, And I come out like totally white,
- 13:32Speaker 4: you know, eyes wide, and they're like, m everything's fine.
- 13:38Speaker 3: People looking at you at the airport. In that situation,
- 13:40Speaker 3: you have to kind of explain. It's like, yeah, this
- 13:42Speaker 3: is another thing like if I go if I'm at
- 13:44Speaker 3: a restaurant and I go to the bathroom and it's occupied, yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 3: and I just need to pee, But then I'm like
- 13:49Speaker 3: I'm standing there for a while. The amount of explaining
- 13:52Speaker 3: I'm doing when I get back to the table, like, oh,
- 13:55Speaker 3: the way I.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Was standing there, the way it was, it was a
- 13:58Speaker 4: long wait. I didn't have to poop.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Who I should take a card of video of me
- 14:04Speaker 3: waiting or something.
- 14:04Speaker 4: That's a good idea.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Yeah, just be like if you're all wondering.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah you could. You could almost like, well I
- 14:10Speaker 4: was gonna say, live live, go.
- 14:12Speaker 3: To twitch, go to twitch my twitch channel.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Yeah, and then invite your friends at the table to
- 14:18Speaker 4: go on your Twitch channel.
- 14:19Speaker 3: So queens are watching me.
- 14:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it could be a whole channel called bridger Waiting
- 14:25Speaker 4: for a public bathroom to open up.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Truly only needed to be.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Yeah, truly only needed to be.
- 14:31Speaker 3: But that happens almost any time at a restaurant because
- 14:34Speaker 3: usually it's a one person thing.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Now, how do you feel about there's a there's a
- 14:38Speaker 4: men's and women's and it's you know, it still says
- 14:43Speaker 4: men's and women right right, and there's you're waiting. Say,
- 14:47Speaker 4: you're waiting for the men's and the women's opens up,
- 14:52Speaker 4: no line.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Oh and there's nobody else that needs them.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Yeah, and you're waiting for the men's. You've been waiting forever.
- 14:57Speaker 4: This person you can, you amos, You could almost getarantee
- 15:00Speaker 4: it's somebody that works at the restaurant just taking a
- 15:02Speaker 4: little break, right, right, you know what I mean. They're
- 15:04Speaker 4: sitting in there for a long time, and the doors.
- 15:06Speaker 4: I mean, of course you're going to go for.
- 15:07Speaker 3: It, right, it's just absolutely always there.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Yes, And I think it's totally I think it's totally fine.
- 15:12Speaker 4: But what happens is you come out there's a woman
- 15:15Speaker 4: waiting there and she's like.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I've always prepared in my mind. You say, get over it,
- 15:21Speaker 3: don't take it so seriously, come on, this is all
- 15:26Speaker 3: made up.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Get over your This is all bullshit. This is just
- 15:29Speaker 4: an idea, This is a suggestion. Maybe split it up
- 15:34Speaker 4: based on whatever.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Yes, come on, it was two minutes.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Yeah. It drives me nuts when I get a look
- 15:40Speaker 4: after coming out of the women's bathroom, and they should
- 15:43Speaker 4: all be just genderless.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah, we don't need to sign on events anymore.
- 15:47Speaker 4: It's just one or the other two up.
- 15:49Speaker 3: On the bathrooms. Yeah, especially, I mean the one thing
- 15:52Speaker 3: I'll say is the women's bathroom, the line does tend
- 15:56Speaker 3: to pile up more, that's true, And so I'm like,
- 15:59Speaker 3: am I getting in the way?
- 16:00Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 16:00Speaker 3: But sometimes you need it, and sometimes you're worried your
- 16:03Speaker 3: friends think you are suddenly having the worst night of
- 16:06Speaker 3: your life.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I was thinking maybe anything you could do
- 16:10Speaker 4: to prepare for that moment, like have a little card,
- 16:13Speaker 4: like like you know, a little card that's like pre
- 16:15Speaker 4: written plastic, right, something that says like, I'm using this
- 16:19Speaker 4: bathroom because there was no line, and I don't want
- 16:23Speaker 4: my friends to think I'm taking a huge poop and
- 16:25Speaker 4: having the worst time in my life. I'm just peeing.
- 16:27Speaker 4: I'll be right out.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Please find it in your heart.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Don't look at me weird when I come out. Everything's
- 16:32Speaker 4: totally normal.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Everything I'm doing in here is legal.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Yes, I think, yeah on the doorknob. And then somebody
- 16:38Speaker 4: will go, oh okay. You know they're not going to
- 16:40Speaker 4: be like what the hell.
- 16:42Speaker 3: And while you're in there, maybe you call a friend
- 16:44Speaker 3: from the table to just let them know that you're peeing.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, have them come and check on you. Have
- 16:47Speaker 4: them talk to the person outside the door, if.
- 16:49Speaker 3: You wouldn't mind telling everybody in the restaurant that things
- 16:51Speaker 3: are fine.
- 16:52Speaker 4: They are fine.
- 16:52Speaker 3: I am peeing. It's a long pee, So speculating about
- 16:58Speaker 3: what I'm doing in here. Why does everyone care so
- 17:01Speaker 3: much about what I'm doing in the bathroom.
- 17:02Speaker 4: I don't know, but they do. I've heard people talk
- 17:04Speaker 4: about caring about what you do in the back.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Very loudly, specifically industry rumors. Oh yeah, the industry is
- 17:11Speaker 3: a buzz.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Oh my god, what is he doing in there? What
- 17:14Speaker 4: is he doing over so long?
- 17:17Speaker 3: If there's somebody in the bathroom, come back to the
- 17:19Speaker 3: table and go back.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it's ridiculous. Its ridiculous. Yeah, I you know, I'm yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 4: I don't know if I have that quite as much.
- 17:26Speaker 4: I think I'm okay with like sitting in there.
- 17:28Speaker 3: I've just stood being okay with the weight.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm okay. Like if people come back and they're like,
- 17:32Speaker 4: that's ook a while, I'm like, something's wrong with you. Okay,
- 17:37Speaker 4: there's nothing wrong with me. There's something wrong with your
- 17:39Speaker 4: brain and the fact that you decided to bring this
- 17:42Speaker 4: up in front of all of our friends. I was
- 17:44Speaker 4: actually in a situation like that one really where it
- 17:47Speaker 4: was shooting a movie and there are people whose names
- 17:49Speaker 4: I don't want to shoot it out there, but but somebody,
- 17:52Speaker 4: somebody very funny, Okay. A woman went to the bathroom.
- 17:56Speaker 4: She was there for a while, and then another woman
- 18:00Speaker 4: that doesn't matter, It doesn't matter. Two women, two women.
- 18:05Speaker 4: One goes to the bathroom. She's funny, the other one
- 18:07Speaker 4: isn't funny. And she's there and she's going, oh my god,
- 18:11Speaker 4: what are they doing in there? And the funny one
- 18:13Speaker 4: comes back and she would and the non funny one.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Two women, and she goes in front of everybody, Oh
- 18:21Speaker 4: my god, that took so long. What were you doing
- 18:24Speaker 4: wo And the funny woman goes, I was taking a
- 18:27Speaker 4: big fat ship and then just like totally was totally
- 18:32Speaker 4: comfortable with it, you know, diffuse the situation and good
- 18:36Speaker 4: for her. Yeah, yeah, that's how I feel. That's how
- 18:39Speaker 4: I feel. I'm like, I'm taking a big fat ship.
- 18:41Speaker 4: I'm just like, I don't need the little thing to
- 18:43Speaker 4: put on the door.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Wow, that's confidence you need to get to that.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Lit's you know, it's it's not the best kind of confidence.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I would definitely rather have other kinds of confidence, but
- 18:53Speaker 4: I'll take it. I'll take what I can get.
- 18:55Speaker 3: And I think, actually, I'm going to defend myself a
- 18:57Speaker 3: little bit here. It's a little bit also of I
- 18:59Speaker 3: don't want everyone the table having to think about poop
- 19:01Speaker 3: while the reader.
- 19:02Speaker 4: Oh, that's considered. So you're considering a little more considerate
- 19:06Speaker 4: than embarrassed.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Yes, I'm like, I don't want them sick to their stomachs,
- 19:10Speaker 3: gagging down each bite waiting for me.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Right, yeah, so look, yeah, that's that's what you're on
- 19:16Speaker 4: the right side. And for me, I'm kind of like,
- 19:19Speaker 4: you don't give a ship. I'm like, let me put
- 19:20Speaker 4: it in your head. If it's right there at the edge,
- 19:23Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna push it all the way in.
- 19:24Speaker 4: I'm just gonna how dare you? Or I'll describe my
- 19:30Speaker 4: ship in detail. Right when you're taking your first bite
- 19:34Speaker 4: of your beef stroging off, you picked the wrong meal,
- 19:38Speaker 4: the wrong meal today, buster.
- 19:41Speaker 3: And yet you still haven't mend to Costco.
- 19:42Speaker 4: That's really yeah, not as a member with other people.
- 19:46Speaker 4: As a member, still haven't gone in yet.
- 19:48Speaker 3: It's a weird experience. As a non member, I always
- 19:50Speaker 3: feel like, what should I be doing?
- 19:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't. I don't know the way in, really
- 19:55Speaker 4: I don't, because I feel like there are certain things
- 19:57Speaker 4: like we got like a big thing of macaroni and
- 20:00Speaker 4: cheese son, which I would imagine is like the smallest
- 20:03Speaker 4: thing you can get right and and I'm like, I
- 20:07Speaker 4: see this thing in our pantry and it's like, I
- 20:10Speaker 4: don't know, it's like forty things.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Not going to eat all of that, and it's.
- 20:14Speaker 4: All the same type. I like to go to the
- 20:16Speaker 4: grocery store and maybe try a different waxed up, try
- 20:19Speaker 4: a different brand, try a different noodle, different cheese, sauce.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Of course, you know, it's another thing where I think
- 20:25Speaker 3: they think bar kind of encompasses it, where that's small
- 20:29Speaker 3: enough that you can kind of just get used to
- 20:30Speaker 3: it being I don't care for this flavor, but who cares? Yes,
- 20:33Speaker 3: but a meal of artificial.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Official cheese and noodles.
- 20:37Speaker 3: You Yeah, Oh, it's upsetting.
- 20:42Speaker 4: It's really upsetting, really upsetting. Yeah, I'm not I'm not
- 20:45Speaker 4: quite there yet with Costco. You'll get there at some point,
- 20:48Speaker 4: maybe when I'm having more parties, birthday parties for my son.
- 20:51Speaker 3: You know, but did you how did your Costco card
- 20:54Speaker 3: photo turnout? Mine? Not a good situation.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Oh my god, I don't even know. I don't even
- 20:59Speaker 4: know if I feel like I don't even know if
- 21:01Speaker 4: I have it.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Oh, I'm never going to get back into this place.
- 21:04Speaker 4: I in my in my memory I took a photo
- 21:08Speaker 4: and it was like a temporary thing.
- 21:10Speaker 3: They oh, yeah, like a paper license idea.
- 21:13Speaker 4: It was yeah, or like I was going to pick
- 21:15Speaker 4: it up later or something. I don't know, maybe because
- 21:18Speaker 4: I was so.
- 21:19Speaker 3: You're never getting back I'm.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Never getting back in there.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Let me. I'm actually going to show you my Costco
- 21:23Speaker 3: card because I think it's worth seeing the image they
- 21:26Speaker 3: picked for me.
- 21:27Speaker 4: I would love to and I'm going to look at
- 21:28Speaker 4: my wallet to see if I happen to have one.
- 21:30Speaker 4: But look at uh this, Oh my god.
- 21:37Speaker 3: There's not a single distinguishable feature on this What I
- 21:41Speaker 3: look like a ghost? That is it's like a white silhouette,
- 21:46Speaker 3: almost not there. It's like you only have the features
- 21:49Speaker 3: that could be anybody. Tip of the nose, mouth that
- 21:52Speaker 3: is wild.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Yeah did you get that in the moment? Were you like, oh,
- 21:56Speaker 4: thank you?
- 21:57Speaker 3: Yes? This was Yeah. I looked at it. I was like,
- 22:00Speaker 3: I think it was right before closing, so I couldn't
- 22:02Speaker 3: demand a reshoot.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Yeah, you weren't like, can we play with the lighting here?
- 22:05Speaker 4: This is a little harsh, but.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Yeah, you see nostrils and eyes. That's all so Costco?
- 22:10Speaker 4: Could they did you dirty?
- 22:11Speaker 3: I don't think that they didn't even need to take
- 22:12Speaker 3: a photo.
- 22:13Speaker 4: No, they're not taking serious when it's washing it out.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Like ooh, get some nice lighting on me.
- 22:19Speaker 4: There's no way.
- 22:19Speaker 3: No, oh oh, have you got it?
- 22:22Speaker 4: Oh yeah, let's see this. A little washed out too.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Oh, a little washed out. But you look deeply unhappy.
- 22:27Speaker 4: They very unhappy. I've already told stories of being unhappy
- 22:32Speaker 4: at Costco getting my my license my and then what else?
- 22:37Speaker 4: What was the other one with the farmer's market. Yeah,
- 22:40Speaker 4: I'm just I'm going nuts crazy. I'm going crazy over
- 22:43Speaker 4: I'm fully well.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I feel like I should redirect the conversation until you
- 22:47Speaker 3: get before you get in some sort of trouble.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Okay, sure, yeah, yeah, redirect.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I mean this could just lead to more problems on
- 22:54Speaker 3: the podcast. And but I don't know where to go
- 22:56Speaker 3: from here.
- 22:56Speaker 4: I mean, problems are fund you know, it's it's marketable,
- 22:59Speaker 4: it's viral.
- 23:00Speaker 3: It's conflict. Their sparks, sparks fly. People love to see these.
- 23:05Speaker 3: It's essentially one of these debates. Yeah, and so we'll
- 23:10Speaker 3: see what happens, see what happens. I was excited to
- 23:12Speaker 3: have you here on the podcast today. I thought, certainly
- 23:16Speaker 3: Beck has manners he's been in the industry for a minute,
- 23:21Speaker 3: knows how these things work. Absolutely has some sort of decency.
- 23:26Speaker 3: The podcast is called I said no gifts, and I
- 23:30Speaker 3: imagine you received the famous phone call phone calls. We
- 23:34Speaker 3: have an Allie's kind of call and leave messages, just
- 23:38Speaker 3: making sure sending letters emails with the name of the podcast.
- 23:42Speaker 3: So I was a little surprised. I was a little
- 23:46Speaker 3: floored when you walked into the studio today holding an
- 23:51Speaker 3: absolutely gorgeous gift.
- 23:52Speaker 4: You You're so welcome, Thank you so much. I appreciate you. Yeah, well,
- 24:01Speaker 4: you know, I I, of course I wasn't going to
- 24:05Speaker 4: bring a gift because that was the name of the show,
- 24:07Speaker 4: and I know I don't want the gifts, but I
- 24:11Speaker 4: just I really couldn't help myself because I was I
- 24:15Speaker 4: just I was like, maybe this is the gift that
- 24:18Speaker 4: changes the podcast, maybe changes the name of the podcast,
- 24:21Speaker 4: changes your attitude, you know. And and so I brought
- 24:25Speaker 4: a gift. I'm not somebody. I'm usually somebody to be like,
- 24:27Speaker 4: we don't need to bring a gift, Like somebody's having
- 24:30Speaker 4: you over for dinner and like, oh you got to
- 24:31Speaker 4: bring some wine or something. It's like like a kid's
- 24:35Speaker 4: birthday party. They don't want another thing.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Birthday is not happening.
- 24:38Speaker 4: As a parent of a child. Too many gifts.
- 24:41Speaker 3: It's just if the child's related to me.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Yeah sure.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Otherwise, how many kids birthdays am I going to?
- 24:48Speaker 4: I don't know, I mean only you know, I could
- 24:51Speaker 4: see a lot.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I'm a magician. I'm a magician.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Well but yeah, I brought a gift. You know.
- 24:58Speaker 3: It kind of comes down to a lack of control.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I am out of control, as we've found out
- 25:02Speaker 4: from the first start of this pod.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yes, right, so should we open it here on the podcast?
- 25:07Speaker 4: I would love to. I cannot wait.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Okay, sure, are you ready?
- 25:10Speaker 4: Well?
- 25:10Speaker 3: Why not?
- 25:14Speaker 4: There it is.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Oh and it's in the sleek black bag.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I found the sexiest bag.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Yeah, this was really this was a night time bagh. Huh,
- 25:23Speaker 3: this is we're out on the town.
- 25:24Speaker 4: It might have you know, it might have come with
- 25:26Speaker 4: a bottle of champagne, you know. Now it's in my
- 25:30Speaker 4: my gift wrap.
- 25:32Speaker 3: And it's got kind of a gold tissue.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Yeah, some brown and a little gold or yeah, look
- 25:37Speaker 4: at that that's been used before.
- 25:39Speaker 3: That one was fresh, but this one was fresh.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Got it? But so the crinkle is fresh. That other
- 25:45Speaker 4: one was was already used. Yeah, look at that. That's
- 25:49Speaker 4: a nice sound.
- 25:49Speaker 3: I know it's nice. Yeah, Okay, then we're reaching you
- 25:53Speaker 3: guys will take out all the tissue.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Why not get the stick, get it all out. Let's
- 25:58Speaker 4: see the tip of it poking out.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Okay, now I'm reaching in.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Oh there it is, Yay, a wooden spoon for Bridger,
- 26:08Speaker 4: A huge, huge This is actually a walk spoon. Oh walk,
- 26:14Speaker 4: do you have a walk?
- 26:15Speaker 3: I don't have a walk.
- 26:16Speaker 4: Okay, Well, you can use it for anything. You could. Honestly,
- 26:20Speaker 4: I immediately think of this gift, and you could use it
- 26:22Speaker 4: for the same purpose. Probably you could leave it in
- 26:24Speaker 4: the bathroom and use the scoop out the toilet.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Yeah, you're pointing to if the listeners want now seeing this,
- 26:29Speaker 3: he's pointing to the Redneck plunger that we received from
- 26:32Speaker 3: Rob Hubel at one point, which is a gun or
- 26:35Speaker 3: a toilet plunger shaped like a gun.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Yeah, like a big old shotgun that Beck was.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Kind of threatening to use before the episode.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:41Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, I was gonna.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Yeah, destroy the studio bathroom.
- 26:45Speaker 4: And then use the shotgun plunger. But I didn't do
- 26:48Speaker 4: that yet. It's tempting. It's there, but this is this
- 26:52Speaker 4: is a wooden uh walk spoon, right, created by Kenji J.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Lopez Alt.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Do you know who he is.
- 27:01Speaker 4: He's a chef. He's like an internet chef personality or guy.
- 27:06Speaker 4: He's created two James Beard Award winning cookbooks. One's called
- 27:10Speaker 4: The Food Lab. I may have seen it. It's like
- 27:12Speaker 4: a big It's like an encyclopedia book of cooking, like
- 27:16Speaker 4: basically all the principles that one could.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Want to just lay it all out, Yeah.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Like chopping, so like vegetables, meat, like every different major
- 27:27Speaker 4: category of sharing food. I mean, there's some specific recipes,
- 27:31Speaker 4: but it's all the basics. And then this other book
- 27:34Speaker 4: he came out with is called It's basically about only
- 27:38Speaker 4: recipes to be cooked.
- 27:41Speaker 3: With a Walk And do you have both of these books?
- 27:43Speaker 4: I have both of these books, and I follow him
- 27:45Speaker 4: online and anytime I'm going to cook something, I will
- 27:48Speaker 4: look up the thing I want to cook and his name,
- 27:51Speaker 4: and so The Food Lab his book. What he kind
- 27:54Speaker 4: of became famous for is it breaks down everything to
- 27:57Speaker 4: the science of the cooking, so you can under stand.
- 28:01Speaker 4: He'll be like, this is what's happening with the oil
- 28:03Speaker 4: and how it's interacting with this pan or this meat,
- 28:05Speaker 4: or this is why you let it sit or this
- 28:07Speaker 4: is He'll do experiments like salting a piece of meat,
- 28:11Speaker 4: like sure, ten minutes before, thirty minutes before a day before,
- 28:15Speaker 4: like I'm seeing how it like breaks things down, and
- 28:18Speaker 4: so you like you really it becomes a sort of
- 28:21Speaker 4: like science experiment. Like I've only gotten a little bit
- 28:24Speaker 4: into he has so many things online, but like it
- 28:28Speaker 4: has been it's I love him and he's The way
- 28:30Speaker 4: he talks about food is just so interesting and exciting,
- 28:35Speaker 4: and it's like the stuff he makes. So this he
- 28:38Speaker 4: made he made this specific spoon because it's like the
- 28:42Speaker 4: perfect shape or cooking.
- 28:44Speaker 3: You kind of invented this spoon.
- 28:46Speaker 4: Yeah, because a lot of spoons are more like rounded
- 28:48Speaker 4: and so this this is basically go right down. Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Can I see this?
- 28:53Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 28:53Speaker 4: And it's mine. It's right handed.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Yeah, this is so be careful.
- 28:57Speaker 4: I do I do want it. I would like to
- 28:59Speaker 4: take it back. This Also it's like where the bowl
- 29:02Speaker 4: is rounded, like it gets a lot of surface area,
- 29:06Speaker 4: like it's perfect. Oh right, But it's also I find
- 29:10Speaker 4: it to be just a good cooking utensil. And it
- 29:13Speaker 4: is large.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Are you using it to like with regular pans?
- 29:17Speaker 4: Yes? Yeah, And I'm doing like some some fried rice
- 29:20Speaker 4: with this. I just got my own. So and I
- 29:23Speaker 4: got my own and I thought of you, so were you?
- 29:26Speaker 3: Did he get you into cooking?
- 29:28Speaker 4: Or I was already into cooking? But he was really
- 29:32Speaker 4: like he he really helped just make it all accessible,
- 29:37Speaker 4: because you know, your typical cookbook. I mean like there
- 29:40Speaker 4: was the an Alison Roman phase and then she kind of,
- 29:44Speaker 4: you know, fell apart completely emotionally.
- 29:47Speaker 3: The career got the career, got this gonna come back.
- 29:51Speaker 4: I mean, she's got her own thing going, I think,
- 29:53Speaker 4: and she's fine, but she's not the household name anymore.
- 29:57Speaker 3: And we wish her luck do we wish.
- 29:59Speaker 4: Her all the best here? But it was it was
- 30:04Speaker 4: like people like the two of them, like making things
- 30:06Speaker 4: accessible and like breaking down like fun, interesting sort of
- 30:13Speaker 4: complex things and just breaking them down in easy ways.
- 30:17Speaker 3: So what sort of stuff have you made from him?
- 30:19Speaker 3: What does he tell you to make?
- 30:22Speaker 4: I have made a let's see, a reverse seared tender loin.
- 30:28Speaker 4: I got to make every Christmas.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Oh what does that even mean? Reverse seared?
- 30:33Speaker 4: It means that you put it in the oven first
- 30:35Speaker 4: at about two hundred and twenty degrees for about depending
- 30:40Speaker 4: on the size of the piece of meat, like two hours,
- 30:43Speaker 4: and you get it to a certain temperature and then
- 30:45Speaker 4: you take it out and then you you what's it called?
- 30:51Speaker 4: You see it afterwards in like butter and rosemary and stuff,
- 30:56Speaker 4: and the slow cooking it at first it to get
- 31:00Speaker 4: to be the perfect perfect temperature from edge tadj So
- 31:04Speaker 4: it's like if you want medium rare, it's perfectly medium
- 31:06Speaker 4: rare all the way through, as opposed to just in
- 31:09Speaker 4: the middle and sort of well done on the outside.
- 31:12Speaker 4: It's sort of like a what is that when you
- 31:14Speaker 4: put when you put when you put something in a
- 31:16Speaker 4: single water souv.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Yes, it's kind of like it's just like suviede without
- 31:22Speaker 3: the suvide machine.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't need a big tangish. Yeah, I've never
- 31:26Speaker 4: done that. But the idea of putting the meat in
- 31:28Speaker 4: a bag and then putting it in some water, and.
- 31:30Speaker 3: It's very odd odd.
- 31:32Speaker 4: It's just kind of doesn't really feel like the cooking
- 31:35Speaker 4: that I you know, right.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Like there's not like the it's not like you want
- 31:39Speaker 3: some level of tactile or like, yeah, just a thing
- 31:43Speaker 3: floating around in water. Slowly getting hot is kind of gross. Yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 3: it's no, I mean outside of like a noodle.
- 31:49Speaker 4: Yeah, noodles.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Fine, that's for noodles.
- 31:51Speaker 4: That's for noodles, not meat. I don't want my meat
- 31:54Speaker 4: floating around in water kind.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Of swimming through a hot slow cooker essentially.
- 31:59Speaker 4: Yeah. No, I've also done some very nice oven like
- 32:04Speaker 4: crispy potatoes. You know, you kind of gotta like get
- 32:08Speaker 4: it into a little bath of baking soda and a
- 32:11Speaker 4: lot of salt when you boil it to I don't know,
- 32:15Speaker 4: he breaks his headten it to extract all the moisture
- 32:19Speaker 4: so that one you put him in the oven, they're
- 32:21Speaker 4: like really crunching right right.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of chrispy potatoes. People don't cook the
- 32:25Speaker 3: potato long enough and then it's like crispy or you.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Go like you try to chart too much and then
- 32:31Speaker 4: it's all dried.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Out, disgusting.
- 32:33Speaker 4: It's disgusting. You have to we have to figure out.
- 32:37Speaker 4: We have to make it normal. We all have to
- 32:40Speaker 4: learn how to do it.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Enough is enough?
- 32:43Speaker 4: Enough is enough. He also got me really into uh
- 32:49Speaker 4: like a what you might call it like a BLT,
- 32:51Speaker 4: just like talking about how to.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Do was he doing new with the BLT.
- 32:54Speaker 4: He's just talking about He's talking about the bread that
- 32:58Speaker 4: toasts best bread. It's like a potato Okay, I love
- 33:03Speaker 4: a potato potato bread. And then like the type of
- 33:07Speaker 4: bacon or like, you know, make your own mayonnaise tomorrow
- 33:13Speaker 4: is like, yeah, that's a little too, but it's because
- 33:15Speaker 4: I've done it, and it's I don't know if it's
- 33:16Speaker 4: worth it. QP mayonnaise is fantastic, right, That's that's the
- 33:21Speaker 4: little the cornerstone.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Some things you just find a good one.
- 33:25Speaker 4: And you don't need to make it yourself, right.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Belt you can. I mean every one of those things
- 33:29Speaker 3: can go wrong in a big way. Bad tomato, uncooked bacon.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Uh huh yeah, I couldn't agree.
- 33:35Speaker 3: More crummy bread, yeah, I will say with BLT, I've
- 33:38Speaker 3: kind of gotten to a point where it doesn't feel
- 33:39Speaker 3: like a full sandwich to me. I feel like I
- 33:41Speaker 3: need a club. You have bacon and.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Turkey, and you need some turkey in there.
- 33:46Speaker 3: I need some or avocado in there. You have to
- 33:48Speaker 3: there has to be a second thing that's substantial.
- 33:52Speaker 4: I understand that, But what about just having to Blt's
- 33:56Speaker 4: and just like going back, going back to well, it's not.
- 34:00Speaker 3: It feels like an incomplete sandwich.
- 34:02Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I understand.
- 34:03Speaker 3: And I feel like if you put enough bacon in
- 34:04Speaker 3: it to be complete, then it becomes a health concern.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, And then you're like, this is not a
- 34:10Speaker 4: light summer sandwich that this is.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Now some thing's gone wrong in my life. I'm going
- 34:15Speaker 3: through something difficult.
- 34:17Speaker 4: See I hear that. But I feel like the turkey
- 34:19Speaker 4: just messes with about the crunch, salt balance, creaminess thing
- 34:25Speaker 4: that's happening. Let me ask you this, have you do
- 34:27Speaker 4: you ever? Do you ever have a tomato toast?
- 34:29Speaker 3: I've never had a tomato toast.
- 34:31Speaker 4: Okay, so all the listeners, tomato toast is something very simple,
- 34:35Speaker 4: but it's incredible. So you just take a piece of
- 34:38Speaker 4: really any bread. But I would say sour dough. This
- 34:41Speaker 4: is kind of my saying, like I would say my
- 34:44Speaker 4: light lunch of the summer. Okay, this is okay, this
- 34:47Speaker 4: is summertime.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Tomatoes, summer.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Yeah, and you put some you could even you could.
- 34:51Speaker 4: I'll even do a platter, okay, big platter, tomatoes, bacon,
- 34:56Speaker 4: some lettuce, some cheese, some excuse me, a little indigestion here,
- 35:02Speaker 4: something was coming up. But nothing popped that for a clip.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Cut it out.
- 35:07Speaker 4: That's going on there, that's gonna be viral, and so
- 35:11Speaker 4: I'll put it all out on a board. But so
- 35:13Speaker 4: the tomato toast is like a toasted piece of sour dough.
- 35:17Speaker 4: So something's a little crunchy, it's spongy. And you take
- 35:20Speaker 4: some some mayonnaise, hopefully Qpy mayonnaise, a little lemon, salt
- 35:23Speaker 4: and pepper, and just whip that all up together and
- 35:27Speaker 4: then put that on the bread and some tomatoes with
- 35:30Speaker 4: some salt and pepper. You need the salt and pepper
- 35:32Speaker 4: on the tomato to bring out the flavor. Otherwise you're
- 35:35Speaker 4: just you're absolutely blowing and you're totally fucked.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Why did you bother?
- 35:38Speaker 4: Yeah, why did you bother? You might as well not
- 35:40Speaker 4: have the tomato la And it's that it's simple and
- 35:43Speaker 4: you put it on there and the mayonnaise combination, you know,
- 35:47Speaker 4: with a little lemon salt. Incredible, It's incredible. It's honestly,
- 35:52Speaker 4: it's honestly better than a belt.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Wow.
- 35:54Speaker 4: Yes, yes, And like like to go back to Kenji,
- 35:57Speaker 4: he'll do something like here's a tomatoes sandwich, two pieces
- 36:01Speaker 4: of I don't know exactly what it's called but it's
- 36:03Speaker 4: like Japanese milk toast.
- 36:05Speaker 3: I think, yes, delicious bread.
- 36:08Speaker 4: And he's like, he'll do something where he like takes
- 36:10Speaker 4: the two of them sawtaise, the two pieces right, takes
- 36:13Speaker 4: the sautee side, puts some mayonnaise and tomato and puts
- 36:16Speaker 4: them on the inside. So the outside is fluffy, but
- 36:19Speaker 4: the inside you have a seared buttery crunch that goes
- 36:23Speaker 4: along with the tomato. And it's like, so simple, right,
- 36:27Speaker 4: he does these. He does a lot of things that
- 36:28Speaker 4: are just very simple, but like, my so good.
- 36:31Speaker 3: It feels like it's just reversing a lot of things.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Yeahs stuff around, things around.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Yeah. So that's why, you know. And I didn't want
- 36:38Speaker 4: to bring you the cookbook as well because I didn't
- 36:40Speaker 4: want it to look like product placement. I wanted to
- 36:42Speaker 4: be natural. I wanted to set you on your journey
- 36:44Speaker 4: and wherever it can go. You know. I didn't want
- 36:46Speaker 4: to like, I didn't want you to have the pressure
- 36:49Speaker 4: of like, oh now I have to cook all these
- 36:53Speaker 4: the worst. You don't want to give somebody a job.
- 36:54Speaker 3: As a gift, no, no, no, no no no no.
- 36:56Speaker 4: So that could be displayed, that can be used in
- 36:58Speaker 4: any fashion you want.
- 36:59Speaker 3: But you I mean last night I needed a I
- 37:02Speaker 3: mean a baked a pie and I didn't. I kind
- 37:05Speaker 3: of revealed myself as someone who didn't have a pie.
- 37:08Speaker 3: What is this thing? The piper? A pie serving tool?
- 37:15Speaker 4: Yeah? Is it the same for cake? Because I have
- 37:17Speaker 4: one and.
- 37:17Speaker 3: We got the same for cake. It's kind of a
- 37:20Speaker 3: triangle to get in the slice.
- 37:22Speaker 4: There a pie server.
- 37:23Speaker 3: And I learned my lesson in the worst way.
- 37:25Speaker 4: What did you have? Did you have like a just
- 37:27Speaker 4: a big just a chopping You.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Want to know what I used as a cheese slicer,
- 37:31Speaker 3: You know the thing that's like, what are you talking about?
- 37:34Speaker 3: A handheld cheese slicer. That's that kind of a big
- 37:36Speaker 3: spoon humiliate.
- 37:38Speaker 4: With the little shamy device on it. When you said
- 37:41Speaker 4: a cheese slicer, I thought of the old school like
- 37:43Speaker 4: piece of marble with the wire thing on the hinge.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Was like, what were you doing you your hand?
- 37:50Speaker 4: That seems so problematic, so challenging.
- 37:54Speaker 3: No, I don't know. I guess that cheese slicer has
- 37:56Speaker 3: its place, But no serving pie.
- 37:58Speaker 4: No, No, it's too rounded.
- 38:00Speaker 3: It's like it's half the size of a slice of pie. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:03Speaker 3: so now you're just I should have just use my hand.
- 38:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I would use a chef's chef's knife.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Chef's Oh that's very stylish and it's very kind of
- 38:12Speaker 3: edgy and dangerous.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Yeah, and it may not bend as well get into
- 38:15Speaker 4: the pan as well, right.
- 38:16Speaker 3: But at least it's covering the whole bottom thing.
- 38:19Speaker 4: What kind of pie was it?
- 38:20Speaker 3: It was a smore pie.
- 38:22Speaker 4: Wow.
- 38:22Speaker 3: About once a year around this time, I start thinking,
- 38:24Speaker 3: I need a s'more, but I'm not going to build a.
- 38:27Speaker 4: Fire, and it's not it's not right.
- 38:30Speaker 3: So I made this small pie that was delicious, but
- 38:33Speaker 3: it was a reminder that like amore is about two
- 38:36Speaker 3: by two of those ingredients, and a small pie is
- 38:40Speaker 3: like a half pound of chocolate, a lot you're eating.
- 38:44Speaker 3: So by the time you're done with it, you're like, oh,
- 38:45Speaker 3: I've done something wrong.
- 38:47Speaker 4: Well, the whole pie, Yeah, I done something wrong. Is
- 38:52Speaker 4: a natural feeling.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I should reveal that I was alone.
- 38:56Speaker 4: I was alone.
- 38:56Speaker 3: I was crying the whole time, and.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Well that sounds about right, that sounds like the right.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Just one small slice was oh what's this? But it
- 39:05Speaker 3: was it was delicious. I made him meringue for the
- 39:07Speaker 3: first time, also realized, oh I don't own a blow torch,
- 39:11Speaker 3: which is a nice kitchen thing to have.
- 39:12Speaker 4: I have a blow torch.
- 39:13Speaker 3: That's you know, you don't use it often, but when
- 39:15Speaker 3: it comes time i've never used it, you're going to
- 39:17Speaker 3: and when you do, you're going to be like, thank
- 39:19Speaker 3: god I have this around.
- 39:21Speaker 4: Thank god I have this torch.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Because last night I had to use I had to
- 39:24Speaker 3: broil in the oven. That's dangerous and the dish was glass.
- 39:29Speaker 3: The fear I had because as a kid, we had
- 39:33Speaker 3: a we had a glass thing left on the stovetop
- 39:35Speaker 3: and an explode in the kitchen. It felt like a
- 39:37Speaker 3: pipe Bombit blown.
- 39:38Speaker 4: Yeah, that's so dangerous and glass everywhere. So it was
- 39:41Speaker 4: sitting on a burner and it was it was heating on.
- 39:44Speaker 3: My mom really screwed up that day.
- 39:46Speaker 4: My mom really fucking blew it. What was your mom thinking?
- 39:51Speaker 4: She just put it on.
- 39:53Speaker 3: A burner like he was a mess?
- 39:55Speaker 4: What's wrong with your mother?
- 39:57Speaker 3: It's time that somebody says the truth about dead. Yeah,
- 40:01Speaker 3: she was a disaster as a parent.
- 40:02Speaker 4: Thank god somebody finally said.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Putting your children in danger every morning?
- 40:07Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 40:07Speaker 3: Wild, But it was genuinely it was like a traumatic
- 40:10Speaker 3: experience with glass blowing up. So last night I put
- 40:13Speaker 3: this thing in the broiler, absolute panic the entire time,
- 40:16Speaker 3: but then a perfectly toasted marat that's amazing.
- 40:19Speaker 4: I mean the broiler, you leave it in there thirty
- 40:21Speaker 4: seconds too long, and you're dumb.
- 40:22Speaker 3: You cannot take your eye off of it.
- 40:24Speaker 4: You cannot any so you can look through you can
- 40:26Speaker 4: you look looking.
- 40:26Speaker 3: Through the oven, which is I closed the oven and
- 40:29Speaker 3: so we're looking through the glass with the which is
- 40:31Speaker 3: not an efficient. Why has the oven industry not figured
- 40:34Speaker 3: out how to make that glass perfect to look through?
- 40:37Speaker 4: Clear?
- 40:37Speaker 3: Why? Yeah? Why does it? I know, I don't know
- 40:41Speaker 3: what privacy are we protecting.
- 40:42Speaker 4: I mean I don't even I don't even have a
- 40:44Speaker 4: window because I moved into a house that had a
- 40:47Speaker 4: fancy stove. Oh no fancy.
- 40:49Speaker 3: You have no way of looking into the no way.
- 40:52Speaker 4: Of knowing what temperature the oven. I have to get
- 40:53Speaker 4: a little thing to hang. This is like a fancy
- 40:56Speaker 4: French stove. I don't want this. This is nobody. Like
- 41:01Speaker 4: the burners are on the stove are so hot. If
- 41:05Speaker 4: you leave the pan on for too long without the
- 41:08Speaker 4: proper oil or whatever, it's like it's torched. Oh it's
- 41:12Speaker 4: such a delicate thing. It's like I'm like Julia Child's
- 41:18Speaker 4: yeah yeah, and it's like, oh, look how rustic and
- 41:20Speaker 4: cool it is.
- 41:21Speaker 3: That was my first oven in La you know. I
- 41:23Speaker 3: was like, I'm putting this thing in the oven. I
- 41:25Speaker 3: have no idea what the temperature.
- 41:26Speaker 4: Is, and I can't see it.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Good luck to everybody.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Yeah, no way, I'm We moved into this house two
- 41:32Speaker 4: years ago and it was like wow, cool and I
- 41:35Speaker 4: had I've had to get just tuned into it, you know,
- 41:39Speaker 4: to know it. And now that I know it, I'm
- 41:41Speaker 4: ready to let it go.
- 41:42Speaker 3: It's going to tear your family apart.
- 41:44Speaker 4: It might it really might life ruin it. Yeah.
- 41:46Speaker 3: I need to be able to at least get a peak.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I needed a peak. Just give me. I just
- 41:52Speaker 4: want to know, you know, especially you want to know
- 41:53Speaker 4: if something's in there. Yeah, especially we get Yeah, this
- 41:58Speaker 4: oven is below the ways.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Oh it's absolutely it's accessible to children.
- 42:01Speaker 4: My child could come by. He can't get a peek.
- 42:03Speaker 4: He doesn't know that something's in there. He's going to
- 42:05Speaker 4: open that thing, but yeah, he's gonna climb right in
- 42:09Speaker 4: and he doesn't know it's four hundred degrees in there.
- 42:11Speaker 4: He's toast. Literally, it's it's a safety concern, it's a
- 42:16Speaker 4: real hazard. Wow.
- 42:17Speaker 3: That really for me. First thing, first appliance, I'd get
- 42:20Speaker 3: rid of. You're gonna get rid of that thing. At
- 42:23Speaker 3: some point, you're gonna say enough, exactly what I was thinking.
- 42:26Speaker 3: Who do you think you are?
- 42:27Speaker 4: Beck?
- 42:29Speaker 3: Yeah, get the oven that you can see that you're
- 42:31Speaker 3: not Ken J Lopez No, no, no, no, no no. I
- 42:35Speaker 3: think J Lopez alt would he wouldn't want this. No,
- 42:38Speaker 3: if he'll get in touch with you, can you reach out?
- 42:41Speaker 4: Can you reach out? I'm giving your spoons away on podcasts.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Little a little support would be nice.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Just let Beck know that it's okay to have glass
- 42:51Speaker 3: to see in for the baked products.
- 42:53Speaker 4: Thank you, Kenjy, Thank you, Kenjy, thank you Kenji.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Yeah, but ultimately I had to close the thing because
- 43:01Speaker 3: I was afraid of having glass blown into my face.
- 43:04Speaker 3: And it all worked out.
- 43:06Speaker 4: It all worked out, and you it all worked out.
- 43:09Speaker 4: You ate the pie crying by yourself and got a
- 43:12Speaker 4: stomach egg and everything was perfect. I like that you
- 43:16Speaker 4: cooked a s'mores pie. I've never cooked. I've only made
- 43:19Speaker 4: a strawberry rubar pie. Which my family did growing up
- 43:22Speaker 4: because my grandma would make it right. And I love
- 43:24Speaker 4: a fruit pie, but I mean more than a fruit pie.
- 43:26Speaker 4: I love like a French silk.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Oh, I love a chocolate poe.
- 43:33Speaker 4: Have you never heard of this? You see him at
- 43:35Speaker 4: you see him at the stores. I've never I've never
- 43:38Speaker 4: heard of anybody. I've never heard the of the idea
- 43:41Speaker 4: of somebody making one of these at home. Nobody. I
- 43:43Speaker 4: feel like they can't be homemade, but you see them
- 43:46Speaker 4: at bakeries, certain restaurants. They'll they'll have a Snicker's pie.
- 43:51Speaker 3: It'll be like a chocolate with caramel and peanuts.
- 43:53Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, some nugae. I don't know. I don't.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a lot of ingredients you're making. I need to, like,
- 43:58Speaker 3: I need to make one pie filling. Yeah, essentially, absolutely.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Then I can maybe make a topping, the meringue.
- 44:04Speaker 4: I could maybe do a peanut butter thing. I think
- 44:06Speaker 4: a salty, Oh, sort of whipped cream top.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Oh salty.
- 44:10Speaker 4: My mom my mom used to make ice cream pies
- 44:13Speaker 4: for our birthday. Oh with an oreo crust. Delicious, incredible.
- 44:17Speaker 3: I love a I won't do a regular pastry crust.
- 44:20Speaker 3: It's too much stress for.
- 44:22Speaker 4: Me, it's too much stress. Is it too hard to
- 44:24Speaker 4: get it right?
- 44:25Speaker 3: Yeah? Like the bar is so high. The every recipe
- 44:30Speaker 3: is always like fifty steps, you have to have ice cubes,
- 44:33Speaker 3: blah blah blah.
- 44:35Speaker 4: I haven't done the pie crust a lot, but from
- 44:37Speaker 4: being around the pie maker's Thanksgiving et cetera, it always
- 44:42Speaker 4: the marker is the crust. I feel, of course, never
- 44:44Speaker 4: the filling. It's like, did we get the crust right?
- 44:47Speaker 3: And if you screw up the crust then you just
- 44:48Speaker 3: have a bland like paste.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it's floppy on the bottom. To crust is crumbling apart.
- 44:54Speaker 3: It's very much like a sandwich if you use bad
- 44:56Speaker 3: bread for a sandwich. Yeah, it's half the thing.
- 44:59Speaker 4: It's half the thing about the bread.
- 45:00Speaker 3: It's all about the bread.
- 45:02Speaker 4: That's a famous a restaurant, great meatball, sup. Yeah, but
- 45:07Speaker 4: it's not about the meatballs. It's about the bread. At
- 45:08Speaker 4: that place, it's all about the bread. All about the
- 45:10Speaker 4: bread bakes fresh daily. Yeah, it's really important. I just
- 45:15Speaker 4: want it's important for more people to know that too.
- 45:17Speaker 4: You want to make a good sandwich, get some good bread.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Truly. I really feel like this is something that like
- 45:22Speaker 3: just as a society. In the last ten to fifteen years,
- 45:26Speaker 3: we've realized, oh right, that ingredient needs to be good too. Yes,
- 45:30Speaker 3: when you're making a burrito, the tortilla should be good
- 45:32Speaker 3: because that's something you're still eating.
- 45:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a foundation. Yes, I mean I kind of
- 45:36Speaker 4: felt this way. Well. Kenji helped me with this as well,
- 45:39Speaker 4: and not to just talk about meat products with Kenji
- 45:44Speaker 4: and whatever, but like I got into burgers because I
- 45:48Speaker 4: wash and I make a smash burger, which is very
- 45:50Speaker 4: popular now. But I was way ahead of the curve
- 45:53Speaker 4: and I was like very I was like, what are
- 45:58Speaker 4: these burgers that we're eating at home, like at people's houses,
- 46:01Speaker 4: These hockey pucks, these dried out hockey pucks with a
- 46:04Speaker 4: big like half melted piece of cheddar on it. Flavorless,
- 46:08Speaker 4: it's flavorless, and it's just like it's like a big
- 46:12Speaker 4: dry meatball. I was like, this is enough, Like we
- 46:15Speaker 4: can do. It's not that far.
- 46:17Speaker 3: It's one of the most simple foods.
- 46:19Speaker 4: It's really easy and all you need is some good meat. Sure,
- 46:24Speaker 4: may I like some onions, pickles, a sauce, some sort
- 46:28Speaker 4: of salt, some sort of salt. I think for me,
- 46:31Speaker 4: a melty American cheese doesn't have to be a craft single,
- 46:33Speaker 4: but they have sure all different variations now, and a
- 46:36Speaker 4: Martin's potato roll delicious, and it's just the good, simple ingredients.
- 46:41Speaker 4: And people have come over to my house and had
- 46:43Speaker 4: these burgers, been like, oh my god, how did you
- 46:46Speaker 4: do this?
- 46:46Speaker 3: Did it take you a minute to figure out how
- 46:48Speaker 3: to make them properly? Did you have to buy an
- 46:50Speaker 3: iron dispatch?
- 46:51Speaker 4: I got the iron, I got the right spatula and everything,
- 46:54Speaker 4: the right tools. Yeah, you need the right tools, yes,
- 46:58Speaker 4: but you know, I think that's one of the things
- 46:59Speaker 4: that got me into cooking, was like, you can make
- 47:03Speaker 4: like these nostalgic amaze, whether it's a grilled cheese, cheeseburger,
- 47:07Speaker 4: like just a good salad, like some good vegetable, like
- 47:10Speaker 4: a good just roasted chicken, these basic things, and you
- 47:14Speaker 4: can make at home very simply and have it tastes
- 47:17Speaker 4: better than anything you've ever happened. Right. I was like,
- 47:20Speaker 4: we need to know how to do these things.
- 47:21Speaker 3: And yet I've never cooked a single thing in my home.
- 47:23Speaker 4: Really.
- 47:24Speaker 3: I scrambled eggs, I bake, you bake, but I really don't.
- 47:27Speaker 3: I guess during the pandemic, I made meatballs a few.
- 47:31Speaker 3: This is going to change rice. I'm making pad tie.
- 47:35Speaker 4: Absolutely, I'm gonna be all over the place. You're going
- 47:37Speaker 4: to be scooping it all around. I mean, yeah, that's
- 47:40Speaker 4: They're going to find a lot of a lot of
- 47:42Speaker 4: good uses for that big old spin. Ye it's a
- 47:44Speaker 4: right hand just so you know, they come left end right.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Oh interesting, Oh, because yeah, I guess the curve of
- 47:50Speaker 3: this thing requires. I mean, a left handed person would
- 47:53Speaker 3: be absolutely right that what you're doing there.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it's very cute.
- 47:57Speaker 3: It's almost like it's like a kind of car tune
- 48:00Speaker 3: paint brush or something.
- 48:01Speaker 4: And you know, and there's actually something else in the back. Oh,
- 48:04Speaker 4: there is just a little bit, just a little bit
- 48:07Speaker 4: of something that is some oil. Yeah, I don't know
- 48:10Speaker 4: that I've ever heard of it. I didn't want to
- 48:12Speaker 4: leave you with that. And and now I'm giving you
- 48:14Speaker 4: a job, which is what And I thought about that
- 48:16Speaker 4: when I was putting it in here. I was like, no,
- 48:18Speaker 4: I'm giving them a whole job.
- 48:19Speaker 3: And I did that changing a lifestyle.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and you don't have to use the oil, but
- 48:24Speaker 4: if you use the spoon, you might want to put
- 48:26Speaker 4: some oil on it and rub it the spoon for the.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Spoon before you even use it the first time.
- 48:32Speaker 4: You don't know, No, you can. You can use this
- 48:33Speaker 4: for a while. Okay, you know you don't want to
- 48:35Speaker 4: put it in the dishwasher. You don't want to soak
- 48:37Speaker 4: in water. This the wooden spoon, right of course. But
- 48:40Speaker 4: when it starts to drow it a little bit, you
- 48:42Speaker 4: take the scratchy side of your little uh, your little
- 48:45Speaker 4: sponge there and you, uh, you rub some of that
- 48:47Speaker 4: in there.
- 48:47Speaker 3: And how do I wash this properly? Just with a
- 48:50Speaker 3: little bit of light soap and water. Absolutely, yeah, just
- 48:53Speaker 3: put this in the dishwasher. No, Bridger, No, you would
- 48:56Speaker 3: put wood in the dishwasher. Put whatever I want the dishware.
- 49:00Speaker 4: You'll ruin your woods.
- 49:02Speaker 3: My wedding dress in the dishwak.
- 49:04Speaker 4: Well, that of course, that actually does work.
- 49:06Speaker 3: That's a little secret people don't know about I do.
- 49:09Speaker 4: I do all my dresses in the in the dishwasher,
- 49:12Speaker 4: not my not my shorts and shirts.
- 49:13Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, that would be ridiculous. But you
- 49:16Speaker 3: drag a big dress out of the dishwasher, hot and wet.
- 49:19Speaker 4: It's perfect, It fits perfectly.
- 49:24Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I've never cleaned something or used wood oil
- 49:27Speaker 3: on anything.
- 49:28Speaker 4: And I don't expect you to.
- 49:29Speaker 3: This is a gift.
- 49:30Speaker 4: This I'm giving you this being like he'll never use it.
- 49:33Speaker 4: But I couldn't responsibly give you this beautifully crafted wooden
- 49:36Speaker 4: spoon without the proper right.
- 49:38Speaker 3: I mean, maybe I throw some of this on a
- 49:40Speaker 3: lather up and lay out in the backyard.
- 49:42Speaker 4: That's kind of what I was thinking a little bit.
- 49:44Speaker 3: I feel like my body, my skin could take that.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Like it works for the wood, why not? Why not
- 49:50Speaker 4: bridge it?
- 49:54Speaker 3: This is in the same territory as a What is
- 49:56Speaker 3: the other thing that's like a nightmare? You have to
- 49:58Speaker 3: season u iron?
- 50:00Speaker 4: Yes, a cast iron, cast iron. I have a cast
- 50:03Speaker 4: iron pan and it's it is very frustrating. I kind
- 50:08Speaker 4: of I kind of hate it. There are a lot
- 50:09Speaker 4: of recipes that are like you need a cast iron
- 50:11Speaker 4: for this.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Right, and it is in pet territory where it's like
- 50:15Speaker 3: you have to take care.
- 50:16Speaker 4: Of it, yes, and it can it can rust and.
- 50:19Speaker 3: H and you have to season it. What does that
- 50:21Speaker 3: even mean?
- 50:21Speaker 4: I don't I don't really know. It's misleading because I
- 50:24Speaker 4: thought when I was given my first cast iron pan,
- 50:27Speaker 4: they were like, you have to season it and like
- 50:29Speaker 4: and you also don't want to wash it because I
- 50:32Speaker 4: thought like seasoning it was like keeping the flavors in
- 50:34Speaker 4: it from the previous meals. You know, that's what it
- 50:37Speaker 4: seasons it, It flavors it or something. But I don't
- 50:40Speaker 4: think that's what it is. Isn't like you're like, you're
- 50:43Speaker 4: just creating a coating. So it's like oil, oh oil
- 50:48Speaker 4: that you're like kind of honestly, that's not a good explanation,
- 50:52Speaker 4: but it's like after you clean it, you're supposed to
- 50:55Speaker 4: put some oil in it and then put it in
- 50:57Speaker 4: the oven and it like bakes into it think and
- 51:00Speaker 4: like like fills in the pores or I don't really believe.
- 51:05Speaker 3: It any I'm not doing that at my house now.
- 51:07Speaker 4: I have just straight up what are they called metal pants,
- 51:14Speaker 4: the basic ones. All Clad is the brand, and it's
- 51:18Speaker 4: it's not easy, but it's it's not as challenging as
- 51:22Speaker 4: cast iron. And it's also, uh, it doesn't have the
- 51:26Speaker 4: anxiety of the the what you might call it the scratch,
- 51:29Speaker 4: the which did.
- 51:31Speaker 3: The scorcher rings?
- 51:34Speaker 4: NONI you never know what though, because you put one
- 51:37Speaker 4: of those in the oven above four hundred degrees, you
- 51:39Speaker 4: don't know what kind of chemicals you release.
- 51:41Speaker 3: I don't, right, it's a very like potential cancer issue, right.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Yeah, it is, but it's like that's something. It's like
- 51:47Speaker 4: you see that, you read about it online, and I'm like,
- 51:49Speaker 4: is it real?
- 51:50Speaker 3: Then I ignore ignoring.
- 51:52Speaker 4: I think, well, we're doing fine cancer all the things.
- 51:56Speaker 4: There's everything gives you cancer, and but also so many
- 52:00Speaker 4: more things used to give you cancer.
- 52:01Speaker 3: I think, oh, yeah, cut out some of those fumes.
- 52:04Speaker 4: At the factories we're putting out in the streets, you know,
- 52:06Speaker 4: and what the factories we're putting in the water, right,
- 52:10Speaker 4: all that stuff.
- 52:11Speaker 3: And maybe non sick pans are my smoking Yeah, it's
- 52:14Speaker 3: my dirty little habits.
- 52:15Speaker 4: And that's nothing compared to smoker.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's mommy's trees something.
- 52:21Speaker 4: Are nonstick. I'm so I'm just gonna burn that on
- 52:26Speaker 4: the stove and just smell it up.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Well, I'm very excited about potentially using the oil at
- 52:34Speaker 3: some point and then using the woodspoon for something.
- 52:38Speaker 4: For something. Who knows, Well, it's it's a I love.
- 52:40Speaker 3: A fried rice. Maybe it's time I tried it.
- 52:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so.
- 52:43Speaker 3: I love because good fried rice. The gap between good
- 52:47Speaker 3: and bad fried rice is massive. There really is if
- 52:51Speaker 3: you get a good one, unlike anything what you put
- 52:54Speaker 3: in yours leftovers.
- 52:57Speaker 4: It's like, honestly, my fried rice is like rappy, not
- 53:00Speaker 4: to be served to guests. It's often for my son,
- 53:04Speaker 4: for me, my wife, just kind of leftovers some like
- 53:07Speaker 4: some chopped up cabbage, some what else. We got some carrots,
- 53:13Speaker 4: maybe some peas. I don't I don't do that. I
- 53:15Speaker 4: don't do the piece. I don't know. I said that
- 53:17Speaker 4: some people don't many leftover piece to you, I know,
- 53:19Speaker 4: leftover piece. I don't like peas, don't need them. I'll
- 53:23Speaker 4: do some some cucumbers on top, and a little cilantro
- 53:28Speaker 4: with oh, absolutely, and maybe some avocado if we have it.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Avocado is wrong.
- 53:34Speaker 4: Avocado is wrong.
- 53:35Speaker 3: I feel like, where are you putting the avocado and
- 53:37Speaker 3: just kind of like on.
- 53:37Speaker 4: Top you kind of take a little scoop. This is
- 53:40Speaker 4: not this is not again, this is not how I
- 53:42Speaker 4: would serve it to guests.
- 53:43Speaker 3: You would serve it to a dog.
- 53:45Speaker 4: But yeah, but three and a half year old child dog.
- 53:49Speaker 4: That's a lot of the stuff I do cook at home.
- 53:52Speaker 4: I'm like, this is disgusting. This is not for other people,
- 53:55Speaker 4: you know what I mean. It's survival. Russ is healthy ish,
- 53:59Speaker 4: keeping things interesting for me and my family. It's different.
- 54:03Speaker 4: Oh my god, cooking cooking for a fam as a whole,
- 54:06Speaker 4: that's a lot. I do a lot of the cooking.
- 54:09Speaker 3: Are you cooking daily?
- 54:11Speaker 4: Eh? I try to. I try to every other.
- 54:13Speaker 3: Day, every other day. And is it like a plan
- 54:15Speaker 3: ahead or is it like this is what I'll make tonight?
- 54:18Speaker 4: A little bit of both. I try to keep it interesting,
- 54:20Speaker 4: do new stuff, but often it'll just be like a
- 54:22Speaker 4: go to like some pasta, a canned sauce or a
- 54:27Speaker 4: you know, jarred sauce. Sure, maybe some some turkey or
- 54:30Speaker 4: some spinach that I'm adding to it. Okay, okay, that
- 54:33Speaker 4: sort of thing.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Do you get complaints?
- 54:35Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh yeah no not complaints, just you know, well,
- 54:41Speaker 4: of course for my son, he'll be like, ah, yucky
- 54:43Speaker 4: like or whatever, and then my wife will Jesse, will
- 54:47Speaker 4: be kind of more like it's good. No, I mean
- 54:53Speaker 4: it's good. What do you want? Like, yeah, this is
- 54:56Speaker 4: like one of these classic things we have like once
- 54:58Speaker 4: a week, and like, but.
- 55:01Speaker 3: Do you have a big winner that you can count on?
- 55:03Speaker 4: It's really just the pasta. That's what's gonna make everybody
- 55:07Speaker 4: happy every single time. It's gonna be on the table
- 55:10Speaker 4: on time, you know, because it's not new, it's easy.
- 55:14Speaker 3: So yeah, the thing that will really set me off
- 55:16Speaker 3: and I met. I control myself, of course, but when
- 55:19Speaker 3: I bake something and my boyfriend says it was good,
- 55:21Speaker 3: you should do this with the next time.
- 55:22Speaker 4: Oh yeah, and it's like, well.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Just so you didn't like it, yeah, don't don't talk
- 55:28Speaker 3: to me.
- 55:28Speaker 4: Yeah, just I know. That's something that I've had to
- 55:30Speaker 4: adjust as an adult. It's like, you don't need to
- 55:32Speaker 4: give notes to your partner, you know. You can just
- 55:35Speaker 4: be like amazing and like you know, they'll figure it
- 55:38Speaker 4: out or they won't, doesn't matter. Like it's not worth it.
- 55:41Speaker 4: It's not worth the note.
- 55:42Speaker 3: If you have your little baking idea, why don't you
- 55:44Speaker 3: try to Yeah.
- 55:45Speaker 4: Yeah, so that would be worse. The next days he's
- 55:49Speaker 4: baking the same thing. See it's a little different, you know.
- 55:52Speaker 4: So it's a little different. I see, it's a little
- 55:54Speaker 4: not a song in the bottom. Yeah, relationship of relationship.
- 56:00Speaker 4: I was thinking the same thing my Jesse will she
- 56:04Speaker 4: won't give I mean, if anything would be like less salt,
- 56:07Speaker 4: which I have. That was an old note which I
- 56:09Speaker 4: really drawn back on it'll be Oh, it was so good.
- 56:14Speaker 4: You don't have to use every dish in the kitchen
- 56:19Speaker 4: and that or or another react to be like, I'm
- 56:21Speaker 4: only doing half of these dishes and I'm like, okay,
- 56:25Speaker 4: you know what you don't have. I mean, g that's
- 56:27Speaker 4: a constant, you know, dishes in the household're figuring out
- 56:29Speaker 4: the balance and everything. I would never expect her to
- 56:33Speaker 4: have to do all the dishes. Sometimes I use more
- 56:36Speaker 4: than I want, right, And.
- 56:37Speaker 3: It's a horrible job.
- 56:39Speaker 4: It's a horrible job. And like just and you know,
- 56:41Speaker 4: it's not as fulfilling as making something. And I like, yes,
- 56:45Speaker 4: this is delicious. You fed us, but the whole the
- 56:49Speaker 4: criticism of use. It was great, but you didn't do
- 56:52Speaker 4: it right. You didn't do it how I would like
- 56:55Speaker 4: for you to do it, or like can you clean
- 56:57Speaker 4: as you go? Oh? And I'm like yeah, I cannot.
- 57:01Speaker 4: I'm like I'm I'm full of just survival mode.
- 57:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I let's see. I am as clean as I go.
- 57:07Speaker 3: And it's very satisfying. It's uh, you know, by the end,
- 57:11Speaker 3: everything is done and you feel like, wow, look at me.
- 57:15Speaker 4: I just afterwards there's food is on the table, but
- 57:18Speaker 4: the kitchen is fucked.
- 57:20Speaker 3: It's totally It's just like to me, now, I'm like, oh,
- 57:24Speaker 3: I'm a psychopath, am I? Soone's going to get away
- 57:26Speaker 3: with murder because I cover my tracks. Oh yeah, that's
- 57:29Speaker 3: what's now clicking for me, And.
- 57:31Speaker 4: What's clicking for you now is you could get away
- 57:33Speaker 4: with it.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm now capable of the perfect crime just through
- 57:38Speaker 3: learning to bake and clean up after my Yeah.
- 57:41Speaker 4: That's a really good that's a nice It's kind of
- 57:43Speaker 4: like I'm thinking like Dexter style TV show baker or something.
- 57:48Speaker 3: And yeah, the cleaner upper after himself.
- 57:51Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's like and it's like a cherry pie
- 57:53Speaker 4: but it's blood and you've got the big knife and
- 57:55Speaker 4: you're like like eating the knife and you're like it's
- 57:58Speaker 4: yummy and it's blood. Is something that's a real cool show.
- 58:02Speaker 3: That's This is an ideas podcast first and foremost. Of course,
- 58:06Speaker 3: of course, you didn't see the movie Bring Her Back?
- 58:08Speaker 4: Did you? No? What movie is that?
- 58:12Speaker 3: It's a tough movie to watch?
- 58:14Speaker 4: Is it a new movie?
- 58:14Speaker 3: That's a horror movie? Bring Her Back about a woman
- 58:17Speaker 3: who's trying to bring her daughter back from the dead
- 58:19Speaker 3: using her foster children and it. Oh, it's a tough one.
- 58:24Speaker 4: That sounds complicated, but I.
- 58:26Speaker 3: Bring it up because of the putting a knife in
- 58:28Speaker 3: your mouth. There's a scene where you watch somebody essentially
- 58:30Speaker 3: eat a knife.
- 58:31Speaker 4: Oh no, I'm so sorry to everyone I wanted to
- 58:34Speaker 4: see that. That's not a good idea. Bring her back?
- 58:40Speaker 4: And was it bad? Was it rough? Because it was
- 58:42Speaker 4: not good?
- 58:43Speaker 3: Oh, it's a very good it's a very well effective movie.
- 58:45Speaker 4: Okay, it got you. Yeah, it's like tough in that way.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not like a crummy horror movie. It's like artful, yeah,
- 58:52Speaker 3: but also potentially the most disturbing thing I've ever watched.
- 58:58Speaker 3: But watching somebody essentially try to consume my butcher knife is.
- 59:02Speaker 4: I don't need it. I don't need it. Like the
- 59:06Speaker 4: what's the ariaster?
- 59:08Speaker 3: Oh yes, it's in that category.
- 59:10Speaker 4: That the with the the one, the one where you
- 59:15Speaker 4: know the the guys are yes. Yeah, yeah, so I
- 59:22Speaker 4: was being very articulate. They're all the jump on off
- 59:26Speaker 4: the cliff, the head smash.
- 59:27Speaker 3: The head smashing like a watermelon.
- 59:29Speaker 4: Oh my god. Then it's still there, it's still fresh
- 59:33Speaker 4: in my my eyes.
- 59:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, they almost It's almost like a fair style
- 59:37Speaker 3: where you hit the bell, the thing to shoot up
- 59:40Speaker 3: to the bell, but instead we're hitting someone's head on
- 59:42Speaker 3: a rock.
- 59:42Speaker 4: Yeah. That movie. I could just feel the they can
- 59:45Speaker 4: just feel the flies buzzing around the carcasses that.
- 59:48Speaker 3: They're Yeah, I mean, I mean speaking of the first
- 59:52Speaker 3: one was Hereditary, where the head can hang off, stick
- 59:56Speaker 3: your head out the window.
- 59:57Speaker 4: Pop right off. What the hell?
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: And that's like in the first fifteen minutes, and then
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: you just have to live with that feeling.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: You see. I'm more of a I love a like
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: a get Out Oh sure, of course it doesn't love
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: a get Out classic. And then like Drag Me to Hell.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Oh, I love dragging in the woods.
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: Fun.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Drag Me to Hell has a tough, I believe stapler scene.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: Oh yeah, somebody put in like in the head. It's
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: like funny, it's the it's the witch lady, right, yes,
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: and she's she's in her car or something, and.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: She's a mad hag.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: She's a mad hag putting curses on people, blood shooting
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: out of her nose or whatever it happens.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: She's like, it's mad that somebody like doesn't buy something
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: from her.
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: Didn't get alone, she didn't get at the bank.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: The girls wanted to open her small business.
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I just wanted to open a little business.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: And our protagonist is like, no, I guess she no.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: I think her bosses like, just tell her no. If
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: you want to keep your job, you tough en up.
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: And she has to tell this side.
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: Of small business owners. Ultimately, that's what.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: It really is. Yeah, and that's why it works because
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: it's about something. Yes, that's just it about. Yeah, what's it?
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: What's it about?
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: It's about opening a small business. Yeah, about getting a
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: small business.
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: Loan exactly, and if not, what it actually feels like
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: to try to get one of them?
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Yes? Yeah, And ultimately you kind of have to drag
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: someone to hell and become something you didn't feel like doing.
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: Yeah, a little demon, a little demon, a little yeah.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Well, I feel like we should play a game. Great,
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: we're gonna play a game called Gift or a Curse.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: But I need a number between one and ten from you. Okay,
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: I need to do some light calculating with the number.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: So right now, you can promote, recommend, do whatever you
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: want while I leave.
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: Okay, great, and I'm going to promote and do this
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: by myself.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: You're doing it all alone.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: Wow. Okay, So just a reminder, I'm I'm Beck Bennett,
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: and let's see what's coming up. I'm in this this
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: movie Superman that's coming out on July eleventh. It's a
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: fantastic movie. I play Steve Lombard. He's a sports writer
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: at the Daily Planet. He's in the comic books. He
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: can go check him out. Check out as we get
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: pedia page if you want to learn more about him.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: Funny guy, kind of an obnoxious dude, makes fun of
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: Clark Kent, hits on the ladies. Really fun guy. Incredible movie.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: Uh if you want to believe in the world and
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: people again, go see Superman. Can I keep going? Of course? Yeah? Okay, great?
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: And I have a podcast coming, my own podcast.
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: All of this out, of course?
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: Would you say?
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: Everything you say from for the next thirty seconds will
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: be beep because now I didn't realize I had a competitor.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: Sneaky competitor. I'm pulling viewers. Yes, it's called what's our
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: Podcast with Kyle Mooney? Oh my god, on the head gum, Sorry,
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: another competitor. I didn't even know. I've never promoted a podcast,
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: my own podcast before. I don't know the rules. Maybe
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: I'm breaking all of them. But it's a podcast where
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: we don't know what our podcast is about, and we
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: have guests on to recommend something and then we give
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: it a shot with them in the moment.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Oh I love that, Thank you. Can you say give
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: us an example?
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: Yeah, let's see. We had Claudio Doordia.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: I love Claudia the old time.
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: She's the best, and she was like, your podcast should
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: be about jeans. And then so we switched studios. We
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: went to another studio across the hall, and we did
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: our podcast about jeans where we just talked about jeans
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: and our association with jeans and how we feel about jeans.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: And we had these like segments like sexiest jeans, like
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: coolest jeans, and we talk about those things and then
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: we kind of incredible, Yeah, we give it a shot
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: for like twenty minutes and we and then we kind
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: of afterwards go, how did that go? I think we
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: keep looking and keep looking for our podcast.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: I really liked that idea.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: Okay, but that will be beeped. So yeah, the listeners like, well,
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: what were they talking about? What was so racist that
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: Beck said, yeah that we had to just essent.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: We cut it you know, I try to go viral
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: and sometimes I miss the mark.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Yeah, you push the envelope. That's what you have to do. Okay,
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: everybody do whatever Beck just told you.
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: Yeah, just Superman, Superman.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: The other thing. Ignore. This is how we're gonna play
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: gift or a curse. I'm gonna name three things and
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: you're going to tell me if they're a gift or
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: a curse and why. Then I'll tell you if you're
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: right or wrong, because there are correct answers. Yes, okay.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: Number one and these are all from our Patreon listeners today.
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: This is from Aaron Gift or a curse, John Cougar
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: Mellencamp Gift.
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: Why you know the name alone Cougar Melon Camp. I
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: mean that's like three things, a cougar, a melon, and
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: a camp. It's Cougar Melon Camp. I mean, can you
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: just like think of the place, like welcome to Cougar
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: Melon Camp. Like that name alone has not even been
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: unpacked enough. It's fantastic. It's such a rock and roll name.
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: It's almost like it's kind of like makes me think
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: of Finn Wolfhart, like Wolfhart.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: That feels calculated.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it really does. His parents. It's tough, and but
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: John Cougar Mellencamp the name alone, I think is a gift.
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: And you know, I'm somebody who loves music.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: An interesting quality.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I also love food.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: We got stock from very interesting.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: I like clothes, what else? I like sleeping TV? Very interesting.
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: But I honestly couldn't name a song. But I know
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: I've rocked out to his music and it's kind of
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: like kind of makes him like it's it almost kind
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: of feels like a little old school Van Morrison, kind
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: of like something my parents would put on while they're
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: having a barbecue. But I really don't know. But I
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: feel like I like his music and it's more of
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: a gift. What is the right answer?
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: Unfortunately wrong curse, and I have to.
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: I think I don't know much about him as a
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: person though either, so.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: Well, yes, this is why it's a curse. I've been
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: very public about how much I hate the song Jack
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: and Diane.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: Oh see, I think I'm okay with it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: This may be my number one least favorite song of
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: all time?
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: Is it because of the way it sounds or the
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: lyrics both?
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: I think it's kind of little ditty about Jack one
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: of the all time worst pieces of music? Wow, maybe
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: my number one. I think it's a tie between that
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: and Red red Wine. They covered by ub forty.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: Oh my god. So this is this is a whole
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: category of my music that I listened to my parents
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: play growing up.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: Okay you for both of those songs.
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: What do you How do you feel about I am yes,
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: thank you for saying that. How do you feel about
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: Bruce Springsteen Love? Okay? Because I feel like a little
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: like the Jack and Diane. It feels a little spring.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Jack and Diane feels like a store brand version of
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Bruce Springs. Yeah, where it's like, let's do that. Yeah,
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: let's Americana Okay, yeah, chili dogs, let's go for it.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: And but this becomes a curse because maybe he's a
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: nice guy. Maybe he's got other music that I wouldn't hate,
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: but that you know, stop there, no, thank you, I'm
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: not entering that haunted house. Yeah, and I hope he's
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: not a nice guy. But if he is, my apologies
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: to And maybe it's an Oppenheimer situation where he's like,
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: what have I done?
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: Right? Right? Right? Right right? You know, he was a
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: good guy, good intention, but then he right created something
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: that he didn't know it was going to be that big.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Right open Pandora's Box and has now kind of ruined
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: my life.
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: Yeah, but on your to your point, I've never heard
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: anybody say I love John Cougar Mellon like doesn't never
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: I know, I've never heard that when people talking about
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: their favorite artists or albums. Cougar, Melon Camp.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: Do not know a single Mellon Camper. I don't know.
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: I can't imagine he's one that inspires a lot of
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: that sort of hardcore fandom. But I could be wrong.
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he's a copier. Yeah.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: Okay, so you've gotten one wrong so far. Good luck
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: with the rest of the game.
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: Hey, I'm okay with getting them wrong.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: Okay, we'll see next. This is from a Heidi gift
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: or a curse. Washing your hands next to someone in
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: a pub restroom and performatively lathering longer than usual. This
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: kind of goes back to a little bit what we
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: were talking about earlier.
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: Okay, I mean that specifically, the feeling I'm gonna break
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: this down, the feeling of, you know, needing to impress
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: somebody next to you, I think is a curse. But
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: the result of the actual washing your hands because of that,
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: and fully cleaning them is a gift.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: Okay, but you have to commit to one or the other.
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: I'm gonna say then it then, Neil, I'm gonna say
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: it's a curse.
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: Wrong, This is a gift, and you if you should
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: have you had the logic there.
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I had the logic.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: You get to be on stage for a minute, you
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: get to perform, and what happens the social pressure leads
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: to you cleaning your hands.
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: Yes, however, okay, but here's my thing. The reason I
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: switched to curse is because I don't think that you
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: need to perform the washing to actually wash your hands.
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: I bet if you're somebody who would succumb to the
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: pressures of you know, the virtue signaling of washing your
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: hands for the whole birthday song twice or whatever it is,
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: and really getting in all the crass. Isn't that what
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: it was? Happy Birthday twice.
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: I haven't washed my hands five years ago.
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: That was the whole thing. I don't want to wash
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: my hands enough. But you know, I just I just
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: think that you're probably going to clean them well enough,
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: you know what I mean, And what you really need
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: to do is get down to why you're doing what
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: you're doing and who you're doing it for. And if
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: you're doing it for some stranger next to you in
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: a bathroom, then you have some things to look at.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: Well, you don't get the point. I don't care.
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I know that this is cutthroat. I know
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: that this is not a debate. No no, no, no,
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: not a discussion. There's a right and wrong. We can
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: talk about it.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Course, there's a very high standard and you have
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: not met it yet.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: Of course. Now that is that. That is that goes
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: for the rest of my life. There's a there's a
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: standard that I don't meet and that's okay, and that
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: feels That feels good. So let's see what happens.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: Let's see what happens with the third one. This is
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: from Candace Gift or a curse when they say the
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: movie title.
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: In the movie, Oh my, that's a curse. Why because
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: it's you're stuck, you know, it's like you're boiling this
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: whole movie down. It's like you have the you have
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: the title, you're watching the movie, and then they say
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: it and you're like, oh, God, like couldn't you just
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: like So that's that's what I'm watching here is the
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: title drop? You know what I mean? Like, I can't
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: just be watching the movie and it's called something. You
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: have to be like, you know, I can't think of
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: a fake movie name and then say it. But or
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: like I guess, well, I guess Welcome to Jurassic Park
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: was pretty cool.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Oh, interesting, But that kind of isn't quite the title.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: It's it's not.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Which would be a great title of movie. Yeah, another
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: movie it would be.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: But yeah, can you think of an example where they
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: dropped the title in a way that's like.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Oh, do you know what I actually watched the other night?
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: It was a Mike Lee movie, Secrets and Lies. Yeah,
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: And at one point somebody says secrets.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: And Lies And how did you feel when you heard that?
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Well, are you done? Answering, Well you done? Do you
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: want to talk through your thing anymore?
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: No? No, no to curse, curse.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: You failed the game. You failed the game. God absolutely
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: totally struck out zero ow that's gotta sting ow OW.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: I was just hoping for one, for one right answer,
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: just to like now I'm going to walk away being
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: like me and Bridger did not connect.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: There was no clicking off balance like.
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: There was, and that's what I came for, was just
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: a nice connected time.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: And it's been very cold, and it's.
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: Been very cold. He doesn't cook. He's going to use
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: wood oil for his wood in his rock hard body
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: because wooden didn't quite work there. But he's gonna get
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: But that's okay as long as you use the oil. Right,
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: I'm happy.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: This episode is gonna labeled a missfire, huge miss fire,
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: and that's it's hard to hear, but you tried. I tried.
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I'm used to it. Like I said,
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: it's okay. You know, it's really just about having fun
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: and just kind of being yourself, trying your best, Yeah,
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: trying your best, not trying too hard, not trying too
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: hard for other people. Right. You know, now I'm not
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: sitting down here going like I'm just letting it out,
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: you know, I'm just being myself, and I hope that's okay.
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: I wasn't coming in here being like guns blazing or anything.
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: I was just just being the bee and.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: You kind of fell on your face and you'll learn
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: from that.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: And that's part of the process, absolutely, And that's in
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: this business.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: In this business, you've got to learn.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: You have to learn on camera. You have to learn
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: on camera in front of in front of your audiences.
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: That's what people love to see.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: Somebody just kind of making their way through the process.
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: Charlie Chaplin, Yes, left and right, coffy as hell, all
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: over the place.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: Well, it is a gift. Uh, you know, this is
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: a nice little it's a little wink to the observant viewer.
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: You know, somebody's gonna say, oh, I remember the title
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: of the movie, and now they're oh, what an interesting
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: easter egg. Yeah, I got to hear the title of
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: the movie that I know. It also might be a
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: nice like maybe you forgot the title of the movie
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: and for the last hour and a half you've been
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: kind of sweating trying to remember. You're like, this is
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: ruining them a really good Yeah, I wish I could
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: enjoy this, And then you get it and you're like, Okay,
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: at least the next twenty minutes or so will be
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: if I can unpack and figure it out, and then
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: when I see the movie again, hopefully I won't forget.
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's a nice reminder. It's good riding of
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: what you're watching, Yes, bringing you in, Yes, what if
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: it's the last thing.
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: What if it's like the ending.
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: Oh interesting.
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: I don't know why I'm thinking Gothica. I don't know
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: if I've never seen that movie. At the end, at
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: the end, seeing is that halle Berry, I think.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: Hallie turns to camera and goes Gothica.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: Yeah, now that's a Gothica. That was a big old Gothica.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Credits roll. Yeah, that was the one mistake they made
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: with that movie.
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: I know, I know, it's like, it's just you got
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: everything's got to be just right. Make one mistake in
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: the movie's crap.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: But she kind of demanded in contract, I get to say.
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: I get to say Gothica.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: At the end, she was thinking about the audience. Yeah,
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: thinking I need.
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: To kind of sounds like, well, it kind of sounds
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: like Gotcha. It's a new prank show Gothica.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of a god show. The hosts and black
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: lipstick and platform boots and.
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: They're like Gothica and they're right, that's what they say
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: at the end when they gotcha.
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: They turned into a cloud of bats and fly away.
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: Yeah, so many ideas.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: We have a TV show, Yes, we got a TV show.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Two TV shows, and I can't remember either of them.
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: Well that was that was one and then there was
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: the baker. Oh yeah, of course they could be a
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: movie too.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: Yes, I feel like but let's you know, let's do
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: at least three seasons.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: Yes, of course, let's make some money. Yeah, you've got
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: to make a little indication. Yes, make a little dough.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: Okay, you failed the game. That's a gift.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: Failed the game.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: Now Anals needs to atleast does a gift a curse
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: which we both have to speak to. And this is
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: probably Look, this is one chance for you to outdo me. Okay, correct,
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: you might finally get a foot up on me. This
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: is the most important part, Analis. What are we doing?
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: Gift or a curse? Watching a movie you've already seen
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: with someone who's never seen it?
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: Do you want to speak to this or should I?
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: Well, you know, there's we don't need an answer to this,
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: but it's is it a movie you like?
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: And I'm gonna say it is because you're watching it
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: again with something right hasn't seen it. I do you
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: have a thought? Do you have something?
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: I have a thought?
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: You go ahead, I have a thought too.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: I think that this is a gift. This is a
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: little for the next one ninety minutes to three hours,
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: you are going to be You're gonna be the smartest
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: person in the room. The person next to you has
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: no idea what's going on, and you're you're thinking yourself,
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: this naive idiot.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: Gothica, I gotica there, I got to go there, And
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: you're about the about the Gothica right here.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: And they're just dumb as rocks for at least the
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: next few.
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: Minutes, and they're going and you're yep, yes, it's such.
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: The power dynamics is so luxurious. You get to just
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: bathe in that absolutely, and I think that's a gift.
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: I completely agree. I was going to say a gift
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: as well. You know, if it was a curse, you
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: wouldn't be sitting down to watch the movie that you
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: watch and being like, I've seen this already. Yeah, it's fun.
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: You're in the driver's seat in a different way. You
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: get to feel it's almost like, you know, with the
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: with the wrong person, I wouldn't be this person, of course,
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: but it's almost like you made the.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: Movie part of the filmmaker.
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: You're like, I showed this to you and I've seen it,
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: and I'm I am the expert on it. You know,
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: somebody could. I've definitely been in the position where people
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: would basically go as far as to like take full
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: control of the experience.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: It's a personality.
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good personality talking about the behind the
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: scenes of it and everything, how the shot was done,
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: whatever it may be. But yeah, I think that for
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: the person who's already seen it. Yeah, it's definitely a
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: gift on a lease.
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: You're right, it's a gift. Oh, thank god, it's a
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: gift getting to have that kind of power over anybody.
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: Oh how delicious. Like you said, you get to see
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: into a future that they don't know exists yet. And also,
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: this is to me a little insight. So if it
- 1:17:48Speaker 5: is a movie that you do like and you're with
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: somebody who doesn't like it, then well maybe you just
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: learn something about them that you need to kind of
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: stow away for for later.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: Maybe the last movie you watch with them.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: This is maybe you're gonna break up with them now
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: if you're more aligned with the movie than the person.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: That's right, Yes, exactly, And we always side with the movie.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: Always side with the movies in this in this business.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: Do you know, do you know what This is a
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: brief thing. But something that feels longer than watching a
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: movie with another person to me is showing another person
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: a song. The agony of the three to four minutes
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: of being like, oh, try this, and they're if they're
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: in the room.
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: With you, especially if you're it's not if you're like
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: maybe putting on a record and it's in the background,
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: but if you're like, here's listen to this song, it
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: is a lot, and you're looking at them and they're.
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: Kind of like, you're getting closer and closer.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: I couldn't agree more. It is so much more intense.
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: Oh and then because the the reaction is because I
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: think with a with a song, you can after you
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: listen to a song, like you like a song, you
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: listen to it five six times, you're like, it gets
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: better every time in it you can feel it. But
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: if you listen to a great song first time with
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: somebody who's having that experience, you're like, yeah, it's good. Yeah,
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: you can't get to that lee, Yeah, yeah, yeah you can.
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: It's never going to be as gratifying as as the
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: movie Torture. Torture. Of course, that could be a curse.
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: You won the game of the second game. I want it,
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: we all want, we all want.
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: We're all winners, which is great.
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: And on a lise, Now we need to answer a
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: question people are writing in or sending voice notes to.
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: I said, no gifts Gmail dot com with some sort
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: of requirements for the voice note.
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: They should be under sixty seconds and please record them
- 1:19:30Speaker 5: in a quiet room.
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: Okay. So they should be an hour long, recorded in
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: a busy grocery store okay, or on the back of
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: your motorcycle. Should we do a voice note?
- 1:19:41Speaker 6: Hi, Bridger, Onalise and guest, I have a question about
- 1:19:45Speaker 6: how to respond to a friend who insists on referring
- 1:19:51Speaker 6: to my normal life as a lifestyle. I'm in my
- 1:19:56Speaker 6: mid thirties, single, no kids, and she married, has kids,
- 1:20:01Speaker 6: stay at home mom and will frequently say things like,
- 1:20:06Speaker 6: well with your lifestyle, x y z am. I wrong
- 1:20:10Speaker 6: to not like my normal life being referred to as
- 1:20:13Speaker 6: a lifestyle. How should I respond to this?
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: Thank you?
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: Mm hmm okay. So I have at least one listener
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: whose life is a mess. They're out of control. Ah,
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: and they have this lifestyle that I don't approve of,
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: and now they're asking me for advice. Yeah, that's an
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: interesting one. And she's got this friend who's trying to
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: kind of set her straight, right, And instead of you know,
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: conforming to whatever the friend wants, she's turning to a podcast. Yeah,
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: how do you deal with that friend who has this lovely,
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: gorgeous life. She's made all of the right choices.
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: Absolutely, not she's in a hellhole.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: Yeah, she's in a hellhole, a downward spiral. Absolutely, And
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: she obviously doesn't see anything wrong with him.
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: No, No, she's stuck. When you're in hell, you don't
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: know you're in hell. No, it's only when you get
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: out of hell that you know you were in hell.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: Yes, you all know that. And her friend is panicking,
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: she's she's saying, how do I help?
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: Right? Right?
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: Why don't I just kind of subtly pass aggressive nature,
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: call it a life stay. Maybe she'll pick up on
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: this friend is so dense, This.
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: Friend is so dense. Maybe I'll just have a little
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: pause in between life and style. Well, you know, with
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: your life style, say it in a different way, and
- 1:21:28Speaker 4: maybe I'll help her that way.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: This friend is approaching air quotes, you know, lifestyle.
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: Lifestyle, A little handwave of your lifestyle. That's all a
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: little dance, move your lifestyle.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: Purely in the service of trying to help her mess of.
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: A light right, and she's turning to us. She doesn't
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: even know who I am. I know too, it's very risky. Now,
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: now do you what do you? What do you have
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: to say to this?
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know that this person should continue
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: listening to the podcast. I need to cut these people
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: out of the podcast. We have a kind of you know,
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: everybody that listens to this podcast is on the straight
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: and arrow has at least two children, a loving husband, god,
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: and a gorgeous car and backyard.
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: You got to have a backyard for the kids to
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: run around. Yeah, and maybe a driveway to wash that
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: car on the weekends.
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: When you're feeling like washing the car.
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: Yeah, No, you don't have to.
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: You don't have to. You could just go to the
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: place you know your detailer.
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: But to do it at home, it's it's when you,
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: it's when you kind of it's an intimate action.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: That's right. You throw your bikini on, you're.
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: Really giving your car some tender, loving care. You're slipping
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: a spider loving car. Great car wash, yeah, yeah.
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: And ideas podcast, Yeah.
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: An ideas podcast. Left and right, I mean, you know, do.
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: You wanna I mean, do you have any advice for
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: this person? The lifestyle?
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: You know, she's saying lifestyle because she's she's jealous.
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: Yeah, because her life sucks.
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: She can't. She can't have a lifestyle when you have kids?
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: She did she say two kids?
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: Two kids who she's thinking to put up for adoption.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: Of course she is.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: She can't.
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: People, are you kidding me? Who wants a life when
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: you can have a lifestyle. I mean so, I think
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: in a way it is actually a compliment. It's like, oh,
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: you get to have a lifestyle. You get to choose
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: what you do in the morning or at night or
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: any time you are not like, fully, I only have
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: one child, and like that was such a life style chance.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: And then now you talk to I talked to parents
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: who have two kids, and they're like, one is an accessory,
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: that's what they say. Two is a lifestyle. I'm like,
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: this is this is not a lifestyle change. So two kids,
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: it's a lot, you know. That's she's probably not even
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: seeing her.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: Husband increasingly distant.
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: Yeah, they partner off. Kid one takes the other kid.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: They're not seeing each other. So she is my advice
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: for you to be able to handle it is she's
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: she's jealous, she wishes she had a style.
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: And you make her nervous.
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: Yes, absolutely, she she's like, oh, that must be nice
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: with your lifestyle. You can just go have a glass
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: of wine with a friend at five pm or whatever.
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: You can just sit in just watch TV in bed
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: and go to a yoga class whenever or whatever. So
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: you know, that's that's to our to the listener. That's
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: how you do. That's deck might help you deal with that.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: Sure, Maybe start using the word yourself.
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: Yeah and mean yeah, I would say, start talking about
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: her life as a lifestyle, right, because that was a
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: lifestyle choice. She decided to have tea.
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: She has a lifestyle as well.
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: I would say, though, like having kids is kind of
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: like reaching some level of fame through at least through acting.
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: Like people with acting people say, well, you chose this.
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: It's like I didn't want to be famous. I was like,
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: I wanted to do theater.
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: You chose.
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: It was like, I was, you chose it. You didn't
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: want to be an actor. You wanted to be famous, and.
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: I wanted to be bothered.
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I wanted to be I didn't want to You
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: wanted to walk down the street and have people scream
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: at you.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: That was ultimately your childhood's dream was how can I
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: be bothered? Nonsense?
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: Yes, and have people just like wanting to take photos
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: with me with these phones that don't exist yet, and
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: it's being like capturing my every move. Yeah, it's kind
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: of like having a kid. It's like, oh, I want
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: to have a family, and then you have a family
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: and you're like, well I didn't want this. No, it's
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: it is fantastic having a family, but it is like
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: one of those things where you're like, oh, it's a
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: lot zoom. But you should start calling her lifestyle.
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: Start throwing it around about everybody in your life.
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: Absolutely, Yeah, make it, just throw it around.
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: Become somebody that they write in about you to the podcast.
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: Absolutely, and let her have a problem with the lifestyle,
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: right choice of words, and then you can be like, well,
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: that's what you say about my life.
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: And that's a big friendship ending fight.
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: That's when you fight. That's when you grab your big
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: spoon and yeah, finish her off, get the spoon, finish
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: her off. God damn it.
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: Well we answered the question perfect.
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: I think it was perfect. I think we gave her
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: some inner piece and also some action.
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: You know, an actionable item item?
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: Is that a thing that people say.
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: I think an actual item is a thing, right, It's
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: like a thing you can maybe is it a therapy
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: thing where it's like, this is something that you can
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: do to correct whatever's going on.
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: It feels like a therapy thing.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: Yeah, because I don't feel like if a boss was like,
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: here's an actionable item, here's something you can do, that's
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: I'm leaving the office. Yeah, I don't want to be here.
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: But it is an actionable item, and hopefully this is
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: the first step to getting out of her disgusting lifestyle.
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: Absolutely good luck, good having some direction and purpose and
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: then creating a person and something.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: Well, beck, I have my spoon, I have my oil.
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: I'm so thrilled.
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: What a what a given? Now I'm looking at the
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: other ones and yeah, what a what? It's going to
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: go perfectly if you want to put it here.
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: Occasionally an item comes to the podcast that I do
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: just take home and it becomes part of my life style.
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: And this is one that's going to go in a
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: kitchen drawer. How could I not use this? Yeah, you know,
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: a gorgeous spoon.
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: Honestly, you could that could it could just be a
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: decoration the wall. Nail it to the wall, ye, nail
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: that just put a couple of nails in it, right
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: into the wall, so you can't even take it off
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: and just be like that. That's my cookings and it's
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: locked into the wall.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: I'm saving it for a special occation.
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: It's for Christmas. Take it down on Christmas.
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: I've had a wonderful time with you.
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: I have as well. Thank you so much. Thank you here.
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: What a wonderful space you've created for guys to come
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: in and just be themselves, judgment free, let.
