Latest / Fandomonium! A Fandom Comedy Game Show / Bonus Round - Not a Leap Day
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: So I think this is the episode that comes out
- 0:02Speaker 1: closest to when leap day should be, should.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Being the key word. This is a year without a
- 0:08Speaker 2: leap day. I think that's honestly barbaric. I think it's barbaric,
- 0:13Speaker 2: and I think that it might be a government conspiracy
- 0:17Speaker 2: against us.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Hey, everything is these days.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Everything is these days. It's just another thing that they're
- 0:22Speaker 2: trying to take away.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I love the years where we get a leap day,
- 0:26Speaker 1: not because this podcast is called Gates Leapers so it's
- 0:29Speaker 1: a great opportunity to talk about it, but because it
- 0:32Speaker 1: feels like we get an extra day, bonus time, bonus time.
- 0:37Speaker 1: It's like the.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Days where you Daylight Savings, where it comes back and
- 0:42Speaker 2: you get like an extra hour of sleep, and you
- 0:44Speaker 2: wake up and you're like, ah, this is the only
- 0:47Speaker 2: good thing about daylight Savings. It's that twenty four times better.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Yes, every time we reach February twenty ninth, I go, wow,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I'm feeling twenty four time better than on any Daylight
- 1:02Speaker 1: Savings day.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Oh gosh. You can do so many activities on a
- 1:06Speaker 2: leap day.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Twenty four hours worth of book okay, realistically eight hours
- 1:10Speaker 1: probably sleeping if you're.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Weak if you don't celebrate the holiday appropriately.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Sure, sure, let's say.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Eight hours of it are going to be wasted, but.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Still about sixteen hours to be playing with. That's you
- 1:23Speaker 1: can do a lot of leap in.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Oh and I plan to. If there was going to
- 1:28Speaker 2: be a leap day this year, you guys couldn't stop
- 1:31Speaker 2: me from leaping the leapin that would ensue.
- 1:35Speaker 1: But that's not what we've got this year. This year
- 1:37Speaker 1: is a boring, lame year in twenty twenty five, So
- 1:41Speaker 1: it was last year, wasn't it was a I think
- 1:43Speaker 1: it was last year. Just twenty twenty eight until the
- 1:45Speaker 1: next leap year.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna need to I need to raise my spirits.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Let's let's leap into an episode of Bonus Round.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yes, let's do it.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to Bonus Round the gate Leapers grab Bag. Okay,
- 2:08Speaker 2: I will, I do have to acknowledge here as I said,
- 2:10Speaker 2: Gate Leapers grab Bag. It wasn't that bad. But I
- 2:16Speaker 2: am a little sick. I have a little bit of
- 2:19Speaker 2: a cult.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Oh no, but.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I'm having so much fun with these episodes. I think
- 2:24Speaker 2: it's going to raise my spirits.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Okay, you're good to power through.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I'm so good to power through.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Well until you said Gateleapers grab bag, I didn't notice.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I was hoping I could get away with that, and
- 2:36Speaker 2: then I heard it in my headphones and I was like, oh,
- 2:39Speaker 2: there's no way.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Also, the reality about you being sick is that I'm
- 2:44Speaker 1: twenty four to forty eight hours away from also being sick.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So being sick, I've got that to look forward to. Well,
- 2:51Speaker 1: we'll raise your spirits ahead of it. Bit of general
- 2:55Speaker 1: admin up top. Of course, you can follow us on
- 2:58Speaker 1: Patreon if you want to see videos.

- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, Patreon dot com forward slash gate Leapers really appreciate
- 3:09Speaker 1: everyone who's signed up since we launched the free tier.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I think the free tier had always been there as
- 3:15Speaker 1: an option, but we just never really put anything on it.
- 3:19Speaker 1: But now just our regular ad free audio episodes are
- 3:22Speaker 1: right there. Like, sure, you got to pay a bit
- 3:25Speaker 1: extra for the cheeky video. There's not much cheeky.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna say it's the video is not cheeky.
- 3:30Speaker 1: That's the twenty dollars tier.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 3:34Speaker 2: You can also follow us on Instagram like and comment
- 3:37Speaker 2: on our clips. It's so much fun.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yeah. At gateleapers pod on Insta, it's pretty much the
- 3:43Speaker 1: only social media we're using because we kind of figure
- 3:47Speaker 1: with our audio feed and Patreon and Insta that's kind
- 3:51Speaker 1: of enough. That's all you need from us. You don't
- 3:53Speaker 1: need anything more. Triple threat. Yeah, triple threat. That's what
- 3:56Speaker 1: they mean by that.
- 3:57Speaker 2: That's what they mean by a triple threat.
- 3:59Speaker 1: At Gateleapers on Insta, we post video clips on there
- 4:03Speaker 1: that are examples of what you get the full versions
- 4:05Speaker 1: of on the Patreon, But we also are going to
- 4:09Speaker 1: start posting more stuff on there. Is what every podcast
- 4:13Speaker 1: says they will do and then never does. But you know,
- 4:16Speaker 1: stay tuned this spring.
- 4:17Speaker 2: We're in good company. And also coming up, we have
- 4:23Speaker 2: our live show at the Peak Improv Theater. Yes, May
- 4:26Speaker 2: the twenty fourth be with you, May.
- 4:28Speaker 1: The twenty fourth be with you. We are doing a
- 4:30Speaker 1: Star Wars Pandemonium live at the Peak Improv Theater in
- 4:33Speaker 1: Colorado Springs, Colorado, on obviously May the twenty fourth. There'll
- 4:38Speaker 1: be a link to get tickets very soon, definitely by
- 4:44Speaker 1: the beginning of April, or keep an eye on socials.
- 4:47Speaker 2: You can follow us on our Instagram. We'll have it listed.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Yeah. I appreciate that most people won't live anywhere near
- 4:54Speaker 1: Colorado Springs and won't be able to join us. But
- 4:56Speaker 1: if you know anyone in Colorado Springs, my goodness, spam
- 5:00Speaker 1: them the ticket link as soon as it's available.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Absolutely. Now, enough of this, admin, Yes, onto our mail bag. Yes,
- 5:08Speaker 2: do we have a male bag jingle? I feel like
- 5:10Speaker 2: we should have a mail bag jingle because we've got
- 5:12Speaker 2: one for Matt versus Audra. We do. I was going
- 5:15Speaker 2: to sing a little ditty there, but I am scared
- 5:18Speaker 2: that it will be used in perpetuity.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Hey, if you sing a ditty, I will use it.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I know that's a threat.
- 5:28Speaker 1: The mail bag.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I immediately think of the mail from Blues Clues. Okay,
- 5:35Speaker 2: we just got a lid, We just got a Oh
- 5:38Speaker 2: that's right.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Okay, okay, that's.
- 5:41Speaker 2: What I think of immediately from mail bag. But I
- 5:44Speaker 2: think that that puts a time stamp on my youth.
- 5:48Speaker 1: That's true. So it's good to know you were allowed
- 5:50Speaker 1: to watch Blues Clues.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Briefly.
- 5:54Speaker 1: That dog is of Satan. Magenta was a.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Boy dog, so things were a little touch and go
- 6:01Speaker 2: there for a second.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Oh, dear, well, we could say, uh, let's look in
- 6:07Speaker 1: the mail bag. Let's look in the mail bag. Let's
- 6:10Speaker 1: look in the mail bag.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I wonder who it's from. Drew, that's what it's from.
- 6:16Speaker 1: We'll wat shop it, We'll watchhop it.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah, so I have three muses. Yes for the episode today,
- 6:25Speaker 2: my heart is overflowing with joy.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Now mailbag is overthrowing with emails.
- 6:30Speaker 2: It's honestly, it's brought me enough joy to do an
- 6:33Speaker 2: episode while ill. This is the true this is the
- 6:36Speaker 2: true joy. We have one from Drew.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yes, oh that wasn't just a joke. It's not Drew beautiful.
- 6:42Speaker 2: The first one is from that Drew, and Drew did
- 6:46Speaker 2: provide me with a stage direction, yes, delivered while fighting
- 6:49Speaker 2: off a gang of evil henchmen who only attacked me
- 6:52Speaker 2: one at a time. So I do have to stand
- 6:56Speaker 2: for this.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Sure, Yeah, use the full range of motion. The boo
- 7:00Speaker 1: mom exists for a reason.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely. I have so many fond memories of Jackie
- 7:07Speaker 2: chan Adventures cartoon, so hearing it referenced so early in
- 7:10Speaker 2: the episode was a bonus. I just loved the show,
- 7:15Speaker 2: and while I was always a bit bummed that Jackie
- 7:17Speaker 2: didn't voice his own animated self, it still found itself
- 7:22Speaker 2: loaded with great talent. I'm looking at you, John DiMaggio.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, John Debajo just came at you then, yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's fighting me and getting the little classic
- 7:33Speaker 2: PSA style messages at the end of every episode from
- 7:37Speaker 2: Jackie was a good cherry on top. I got punched
- 7:41Speaker 2: there at the end. So thank you Drew for sending
- 7:46Speaker 2: you in a muse. I think there's a couple times
- 7:49Speaker 2: when I got a little invested in the fighting ad was.
- 7:53Speaker 1: A little amiss. Yeah that's commitment, but that's yeah, commitment. Yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I'm glad it wasn't just me whose only youth connection
- 8:02Speaker 1: was to the Jackie Chan Adventures. I didn't really watch
- 8:04Speaker 1: many of his films growing up, like Around the World
- 8:07Speaker 1: in Eighty Days, because it had Steve Coogan in it,
- 8:09Speaker 1: of course, of course, but it was mostly just the
- 8:12Speaker 1: Jackie Chan Adventures. And I'll be honest, I was today
- 8:16Speaker 1: years old when I realized Jackie Chan didn't actually voice
- 8:19Speaker 1: Jackie Chan. I figured because he was there alive for
- 8:22Speaker 1: the opening credits, he could have at least sat in
- 8:24Speaker 1: a voice recording booth.
- 8:26Speaker 2: No, No, he couldn't have.
- 8:28Speaker 1: That's because he couldn't do what you just did. He
- 8:31Speaker 1: felt like he wouldn't be able to fight off henchman
- 8:33Speaker 1: in a recording studio, But you just proved it's possible.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I proved that it's possible, and I challenged Jackie Chan.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Our second one is from Aiden, my sibling, your sibling.
- 8:48Speaker 2: They did not provide a stage direction, so I will
- 8:50Speaker 2: be doing it as someone who is ill, who just
- 8:53Speaker 2: pretended to fight again your henchman in the previous muse.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Yeah, really haven't stretch to find that acting performance.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna it's really pushing me beyond my limits,
- 9:05Speaker 2: but I think I'm up for the challenge.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I believe in you.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Hello Leapers, longtime contestant, first time mailer. I'm someone who's
- 9:12Speaker 2: usually said romantic comedies quote aren't for me, But after
- 9:16Speaker 2: listening to the rom com episode, I realized there's a
- 9:19Speaker 2: particular niche that I really love. Time loop rom coms. Ah. Yes,
- 9:26Speaker 2: the only two I can think of off the top
- 9:28Speaker 2: of my head are Groundhog Day and Palm Springs. But
- 9:31Speaker 2: those are my two favorite rom coms and two of
- 9:35Speaker 2: my favorite films in general. So I feel there's something
- 9:38Speaker 2: to be explored in why the sci fi fantasy elements
- 9:42Speaker 2: gel so well with romantic.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Oh you said you're doing it while say.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you all this is commitment to the bit gel
- 9:51Speaker 2: so well with comedy slash romantic comedy films. Would love
- 9:55Speaker 2: to hear your thoughts on it, all the best Aiden parentheses, guzzlrd,
- 10:00Speaker 2: Guardian of the Galaxy, shrek Head, etc.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, yes, Oh, thank you Aidan for sending
- 10:06Speaker 1: that in. First of all, I didn't know that Palm
- 10:09Speaker 1: Springs was a time loop film, so I would love
- 10:14Speaker 1: to watch that because I also love groundtok day, so
- 10:17Speaker 1: thank you for the recommendation. First and foremost.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I think there is something definitely in the like
- 10:23Speaker 2: sci fi fantasy, like bringing in one of those like
- 10:27Speaker 2: larger than reality elements into rom coms. The romantic comedy
- 10:34Speaker 2: is already a little over the top with what we're doing,
- 10:37Speaker 2: and so there's something about a time loop or something
- 10:41Speaker 2: like that that makes it feel more grounded.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. And you know, most rom coms are kind of,
- 10:49Speaker 1: as you suggested, fantastical that it's not really how romance
- 10:53Speaker 1: goes exactly. No, it's kind of like an idealized version
- 10:58Speaker 1: of that.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 11:00Speaker 1: So if something's already a bit fantasy. Doesn't it make
- 11:03Speaker 1: it more grounded and human if fantasy is then thrown
- 11:06Speaker 1: on top of.
- 11:07Speaker 2: It, Yeah, it's more real within the world. Yeah, and
- 11:10Speaker 2: therefore is more fun. I completely agree. I love the hypothesis.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I support it entirely.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to see the thesis. Mm hmm.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I'm not writing it, but someone out there probably will.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Aiden if you find more time loop romantic comedies, maybe
- 11:27Speaker 1: there's a a solid essay in it.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Absolutely, someday I'm going to find a word other than
- 11:34Speaker 2: absolutely to express that I that I fuleheartedly agree.
- 11:39Speaker 1: It's just you know, it's a good word. It's your word,
- 11:42Speaker 1: and you know if you keep if you say it
- 11:44Speaker 1: twice as much, we could make much.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Honestly, the amount that I try and actively stop myself
- 11:51Speaker 2: from saying it Audre in pure raw form would just
- 11:56Speaker 2: be punctuated with absolutely. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely, absolutely I would.
- 12:04Speaker 2: It's a miracle that any other words come out of
- 12:07Speaker 2: my mouth. Absolutely, and why it's irritating. And our third muse,
- 12:15Speaker 2: yes is from Jason.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Yay, Jason, see look this, anyone can send an amuse
- 12:20Speaker 1: uh huh. Even our most trusted and closest ally on
- 12:23Speaker 1: this podcast can send an amuse, and I can send
- 12:26Speaker 1: an amuse.
- 12:27Speaker 2: You can send an amuse, Matt, Why haven't you sent
- 12:29Speaker 2: an amuse?
- 12:29Speaker 1: Excellent point. I'll send one in next month.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Good so, Jason says, hello, the rom com episode was amazing.
- 12:37Speaker 2: After the episode aired, as friends, we all got to
- 12:40Speaker 2: enjoy a couple of rom coms mentioned in the episode. Yes,
- 12:43Speaker 2: as a tribute to both the episode and our own
- 12:45Speaker 2: time together, could matt and address say the following memorable
- 12:49Speaker 2: rom com quotes and her best Matthew McConaughey impression. I
- 12:53Speaker 2: will also take Jennifer Coolidge.
- 12:58Speaker 1: All right, well I'm not doing Jennifer Coolidge, so that
- 13:00Speaker 1: one might be yours, that one might be mine.
- 13:02Speaker 2: We'll see how my cold impacts my Jennifer Coolidge.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, alright. Well, hey, they're sweetheart. No,
- 13:11Speaker 1: it's just kind of genier. Hmmm. He's kind of like
- 13:14Speaker 1: a cowboy. It's more like that he's got like a
- 13:17Speaker 1: long drawl the things.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Uh huh, oh, you're hitting it.
- 13:21Speaker 1: That's kind of the McConaughey. Well, they're sweetheart, slowed down,
- 13:25Speaker 1: trying to lose a guy in ten days here.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, okay, identifiable.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Alright, alright, alright.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I may have to throw in a couple I'm taking
- 13:35Speaker 2: that dog, dumb ass. I might have to throw that
- 13:38Speaker 2: in a couple times just to just to get the vibe, right.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Okay, So should we each do these quotes in the
- 13:44Speaker 1: voices that we've been assigned?
- 13:46Speaker 2: Mm hmm okay, do we want to each do all
- 13:48Speaker 2: of them? Or do we want to go back and forth?
- 13:51Speaker 2: Let's let's do all of them because they quite short quotes.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Something agreed. Okay, So this first one's from Pride and Prejudice.
- 13:57Speaker 4: You have bewitched me body and soul, and I love,
- 14:02Speaker 4: I Love, I love you.
- 14:05Speaker 2: This is Jennifer cool. It just hard to do when
- 14:07Speaker 2: you're laughing. No, it's it's great, that's fantastic. My McConaughey
- 14:12Speaker 2: is not going to be anywhere near as good. He's
- 14:14Speaker 2: got kind of a drawl. The things you have bewitched
- 14:17Speaker 2: me body and soul, and I love love, I love you.
- 14:25Speaker 2: It would a bit more like Forrest Gump. Thay, it
- 14:28Speaker 2: did it got a little Gumpy's from Pride and Prejudice.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Next one's from Broke Back Mountain.
- 14:34Speaker 2: I wish I knew how to quit you.
- 14:37Speaker 1: I wish I knew how to quit you. It's just
- 14:40Speaker 1: it's just Forrest Gump.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Now, okay, well you were practicing this, you're it genuinely
- 14:47Speaker 2: was a good McConaughey.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Alright, alright, alright, well hold on a second. There, we
- 14:54Speaker 1: got to elongate the words.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I think that was a big element to it.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Go down low in the draw, stay low. Can I
- 15:02Speaker 1: lead with this next one? While I'm staying in this voice?
- 15:05Speaker 1: What film is it from?
- 15:07Speaker 2: When Harry met Sally?
- 15:08Speaker 1: I came here tonight because when you realize you want
- 15:11Speaker 1: to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you
- 15:15Speaker 1: want the rest of your life to start as soon
- 15:18Speaker 1: as possible.
- 15:20Speaker 4: I'm taking the dog, dumb ass. I came here tonight
- 15:25Speaker 4: because when you realize you want to spend the rest
- 15:27Speaker 4: of your life with somebody, you want the rest of
- 15:30Speaker 4: your life to start as soon as possible.
- 15:33Speaker 1: It's so much better than my McConaughey.
- 15:38Speaker 2: What, oh my god.
- 15:39Speaker 1: No, it's like Jennifer Coolidge's here in the room and
- 15:43Speaker 1: she's taking the dog.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Alright, alright, all right, next one, you've got mail.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I wanted it to be you. I'm going back to Jenny,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I wanted it to be you. I wanted it to
- 15:58Speaker 1: be you so bad I.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Wanted it to be you. I wanted it to.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Be you so badly.
- 16:06Speaker 1: But then you took the dog.
- 16:08Speaker 2: But then you took the dog.
- 16:11Speaker 1: And this last quote is just from Matthew McConaughey.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I didn't read the full email before doing this, just
- 16:17Speaker 2: because I hoped there would be a little surprise nugget
- 16:21Speaker 2: at the end.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Oh classic gate leapers twist. Here it is. I have
- 16:25Speaker 1: my own vocabulary. I love linguistics that surprises people.
- 16:31Speaker 2: That might be your best one. I think it's because
- 16:33Speaker 2: it was written in Matthew McConaughey's voice.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, yeah, so it's easy as to match. And
- 16:38Speaker 1: now what if what would Jennifer Coolidge sound like saying
- 16:40Speaker 1: that Matthew McConaughey line.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Of course, I love linguistics. I have my own vocabulary.
- 16:47Speaker 4: I love linguistics that surprises people.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Nice.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Oh gosh, I've just stayed standing up for all of these.
- 16:58Speaker 2: There were no henchmen, no a single henchman in sight
- 17:01Speaker 2: for the rest of those muses. But it felt right.
- 17:06Speaker 2: H I think we got a better performance.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you for that. Jason Thank you Aidan, Thank
- 17:11Speaker 1: you Drew, Thank you for sending in your muses. This
- 17:13Speaker 1: was wonderful. I love this so much. Please continue to
- 17:15Speaker 1: send you muses into Audra Gateleapers at gmail dot com.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Whatever inspires you about any of the fandoms we've covered,
- 17:23Speaker 1: or just if you have an anecdote or a story
- 17:26Speaker 1: or a thought or a theory about any of the
- 17:28Speaker 1: fandoms we've covered, gateleapers at gmail dot com.
- 17:31Speaker 2: This has brought me so much joy. Please send in more.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Last episode, we named the segment tentatively the lily Pad
- 17:42Speaker 2: of Irrelevancy.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Yes, I like it.
- 17:45Speaker 4: I do too.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I think we gave it some shit in the last
- 17:48Speaker 2: episode as a potential title for it.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Well I like it now.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I've come back around. So on our lily Pad
- 17:55Speaker 2: of irrelevancy, we have the two episodes we released this month, yes,
- 17:59Speaker 2: Jackie Chan and a new type of episode. Yeah, Fandominium.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Well, how about we talk about that first, because we
- 18:06Speaker 1: did a fandominium this month, which ah, the branding.
- 18:10Speaker 2: The branding, Oh my gosh, I wish I could say
- 18:15Speaker 2: that Fandominium was part of the conversation when we had
- 18:19Speaker 2: the name fandemonium I wish I could say that was
- 18:22Speaker 2: part of the conversation, but it's just the universe. Yeah,
- 18:26Speaker 2: just the universe.
- 18:27Speaker 1: It's fate. We're not that smart. We just thought of
- 18:30Speaker 1: it as we saw it. As you know. I coupled
- 18:33Speaker 1: this episode together due to my poor planning and scheduling
- 18:37Speaker 1: and just time getting away from me. But that's because
- 18:41Speaker 1: we've been doing so many exciting things. So I kind
- 18:44Speaker 1: of just like to talk casually about where we're at
- 18:48Speaker 1: in podcasting that kind of thing.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yes, we love podcasting, oh yeah, and we loved trying
- 18:55Speaker 2: to create more things within the podcasting space this year.
- 19:00Speaker 2: We've got press Play, we've got so many Pandemonium episodes,
- 19:03Speaker 2: we've got Bonus Round, and we've got a couple other
- 19:05Speaker 2: projects that we've got as well.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Definitely, I probably have mentioned it on this feed before
- 19:12Speaker 1: at some point, but I've started producing a podcast for
- 19:15Speaker 1: the Peak Improv Theater. Yes, so we get to record
- 19:19Speaker 1: live improvised musicals, live improvised Dungeons and Dragons play throughs,
- 19:24Speaker 1: and put them up on the Peak Improv Theater podcast feed. So,
- 19:28Speaker 1: because I've been able to sort of live produce some
- 19:33Speaker 1: comedy content outside of gate Leapers, I feel like a
- 19:36Speaker 1: proper person now, Oh, I feel like I'm just producing
- 19:40Speaker 1: some comedy things and helping more people to hear very
- 19:45Speaker 1: funny people I find very very funny.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Yeah, through podcasting and just through the comedy sphere in general,
- 19:52Speaker 2: we've been so blessed by finding so many people who
- 19:57Speaker 2: no insult to us, are so much funnier.
- 20:01Speaker 1: They're hilarious, like Tune Titans. The improvised musical is just
- 20:07Speaker 1: I feel so lucky that we have a show like
- 20:09Speaker 1: that in a town like ours that doesn't necessarily fund
- 20:14Speaker 1: the arts very well. No, so to have such talented improvisers,
- 20:19Speaker 1: such talented musicians, be able to put together an improvised
- 20:23Speaker 1: musical every month from scratch that you can now hear
- 20:27Speaker 1: by listening to the link that's in the show notes
- 20:30Speaker 1: right here.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Yeah, there's one episode that's coming up in the next
- 20:35Speaker 2: month or so. In the theater, I had to adopt
- 20:38Speaker 2: the brace position because I was laughing so hard, like
- 20:43Speaker 2: it was hurting me.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good thing.
- 20:46Speaker 2: That, Yeah, it's a good thing. God, the world would
- 20:49Speaker 2: be so much better if we listened to more things
- 20:52Speaker 2: that made us laugh that hard.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, So, just all these opportunities to produce like
- 20:56Speaker 1: live comedy entertainment shows. I really feel like everything we've
- 21:01Speaker 1: done here at gate Leapers, which isn't going anywhere, it
- 21:05Speaker 1: just means there might be a fandominium every now and
- 21:08Speaker 1: then when time escapes. But we've got like four or
- 21:12Speaker 1: five pandemoniums in the works, so I don't expect it
- 21:16Speaker 1: will happen very often. But when it does, it's a
- 21:19Speaker 1: cool place to try out some new games, for sure.
- 21:22Speaker 2: And it's been such a cool experience because the people
- 21:25Speaker 2: we've met through podcasting have made me laugh that hard,
- 21:28Speaker 2: oh yeah, And so it's so cool to be able
- 21:31Speaker 2: to find that both out in the podcasting world and
- 21:35Speaker 2: in the physical space around us and see both of
- 21:39Speaker 2: those bring such joy and I'm so happy for it.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's not all. We also have a couple
- 21:46Speaker 1: of other projects in place from some talented improvisers who
- 21:50Speaker 1: approached us about helping them start a TTRPG actual play
- 21:55Speaker 1: podcast made from a game that they themselves have developed.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Yes, so incredibly varied talents that I'm so happy that
- 22:07Speaker 2: from doing Gateleepers and working with all of these incredible people,
- 22:12Speaker 2: we have the skills to kind of bolster some cool
- 22:15Speaker 2: projects that are happening here.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a lot of fun. I'm sure towards the
- 22:20Speaker 1: end of this year, beginning of twenty twenty six, we'll
- 22:23Speaker 1: be able to share more information about that. But it's
- 22:26Speaker 1: very exciting and there's lots of very cool and talented
- 22:30Speaker 1: people involved. So about a year ago, I remember thinking that,
- 22:34Speaker 1: like what we do here with gate leapers on this
- 22:37Speaker 1: feed and the comedy entertainment shows we make, I just
- 22:40Speaker 1: want to be doing that all the time. But I
- 22:42Speaker 1: don't have the energy to make more things from scratch myself, huh.
- 22:47Speaker 1: And so it takes a lot. It does take a lot.
- 22:49Speaker 1: And so to be in contact with people who have
- 22:52Speaker 1: such interesting ideas in developing comedy and entertainment for people
- 22:58Speaker 1: to listen to and enjoy is it's just wonderful. Like
- 23:01Speaker 1: you said, Blessed Earlia, it's I know, it's like it
- 23:04Speaker 1: got some sort of religious coding, but it feels like
- 23:08Speaker 1: there's some magic in the air and I can't wait
- 23:11Speaker 1: to share more.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Same. So that is Fandominium.
- 23:16Speaker 1: That was Fandominium.
- 23:17Speaker 2: That's Fandominium, just so you have a little peak behind
- 23:21Speaker 2: the curtain. But we also had a standard episode of fandemonium,
- 23:25Speaker 2: and by standard I mean so hilarious and enjoyable.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it was mad.
- 23:30Speaker 2: It was mad.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Jackie Chan was so much fun. The game that
- 23:37Speaker 1: we will probably never play again, with gathering crops and
- 23:41Speaker 1: using them in a guide died choose your own adventure
- 23:44Speaker 1: style fight the.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Games that you come up with for like specific fandoms.
- 23:49Speaker 2: There's some games that we can play across multiple fandoms,
- 23:53Speaker 2: but sometimes those one off games are the most fun.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Just having Jason come into the office carrying our ironing board, yeah,
- 24:04Speaker 2: and being like, whatever this game is that we have
- 24:06Speaker 2: brought all these items for, It's gonna be wild.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Yeah, this is This is improv and it's absolute raw,
- 24:15Speaker 1: forced form grabbing items from around the house and then
- 24:19Speaker 1: justifying them in a Jackie Chan fight choreography sequence.
- 24:23Speaker 2: That's what all those classes have been there, all right.
- 24:26Speaker 1: So what peaud my interest about Jackie Chan? When I
- 24:30Speaker 1: was writing the Jackie Chan episode, I promise this is
- 24:33Speaker 1: going to eventually be about Jackie Chan.
- 24:37Speaker 2: But I trust you.
- 24:38Speaker 1: You tried. Okay, thanks thanks for trusting.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I'm along for the ride.
- 24:41Speaker 1: This is genuinely the thing that sparked my interest, and
- 24:43Speaker 1: I want to make some people always talk about being
- 24:46Speaker 1: edgy comedians saying edgy things. What I'm going to discuss
- 24:51Speaker 1: in the next five to ten minutes is genuinely edgy
- 24:54Speaker 1: in that then there may be legal repercussions. Do it
- 24:58Speaker 1: because today I would like to talk about the Panama Papers.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Do you remember the Panama Papers?
- 25:04Speaker 2: I remember the concept of the Panama Papers. Okay, I
- 25:08Speaker 2: remember the name of the Panama Papers. Tax evasion.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Tax that's it. Tax evasion is the name of the game.
- 25:16Speaker 1: That's the headline. Yeah. They were a series of leaked
- 25:19Speaker 1: documents leaked back in twenty sixteen that revealed evidence of
- 25:23Speaker 1: tax evasion, fraud, and other illegal financial activities that were
- 25:27Speaker 1: being carried out by the global elite. There's no other
- 25:31Speaker 1: way to categorize them. It was just they were people
- 25:33Speaker 1: from different political spectrums, different types of businesses, all walks
- 25:39Speaker 1: of life. The only thing they have in common is
- 25:41Speaker 1: that they're in like the top zero point five zero
- 25:43Speaker 1: point two percent richest people on the planet, the global elite.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Yeah, the worst what.
- 25:51Speaker 1: And it should have been the biggest scandal of our
- 25:53Speaker 1: lifetime and one that pointed the finger directly at where
- 25:57Speaker 1: the corruption lay. But it was basically every government, and
- 26:01Speaker 1: as I said, every political persuasion and every billionaire. So
- 26:05Speaker 1: they all just worked together to bury the story and
- 26:08Speaker 1: stop any justice from happening, because if you're all committing
- 26:13Speaker 1: the crimes, why would you prosecute each other and yourselves?
- 26:17Speaker 1: So the worst, Yeah, the absolute worst. And as a
- 26:22Speaker 1: little cherry on top, lifelong tax dodgers like Elon Musk
- 26:26Speaker 1: and Donald Trump suddenly became very interested in wrestling power
- 26:30Speaker 1: back from politics. After in the nineteen eighties they kind
- 26:34Speaker 1: of went, ah, you know what, We'll let business and
- 26:37Speaker 1: the banks take care of politics. But just as they
- 26:41Speaker 1: started to potentially get into some legal trouble, they were like, oh,
- 26:44Speaker 1: we need to be the ones in power.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Oh wait, maybe I should own.
- 26:47Speaker 1: The government exactly so they can control the checks and balances.
- 26:52Speaker 1: And obviously, as we see now give themselves massive tax
- 26:54Speaker 1: breaks while increasing taxes and passing the burden on to
- 26:58Speaker 1: working people. Now Jackie Chan, now onto Jackie Chan. Jackie
- 27:02Speaker 1: Chan was named in the Panama Papers. Okay, I should
- 27:07Speaker 1: also not at this point that Jackie Chan was never
- 27:09Speaker 1: found guilty of any crime for legal reasons. For legal reasons,
- 27:13Speaker 1: but as a separate note, people who engage in offshore
- 27:17Speaker 1: accounts who actively avoid tax are stealing money from working people,
- 27:23Speaker 1: citizens around the world, and families who fall below the
- 27:26Speaker 1: poverty line. If the elites and corporations paid their legal
- 27:29Speaker 1: share of taxes, we'd all live in a utopia with
- 27:33Speaker 1: universal health care, free education until age twenty one, and
- 27:36Speaker 1: a high speed rail network across this great country that
- 27:39Speaker 1: you would not believe.
- 27:41Speaker 2: A high speed railway that we can tie the billionaires too. Yes,
- 27:45Speaker 2: what I never said anything.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Look, they're trying to return us to the old times.
- 27:49Speaker 1: May as well return them to the old times of
- 27:50Speaker 1: tying them to railroad tracks.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Just a CPA filter on TikTok.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Make it happen. Yes, not just the guillotines. Oh, we'd
- 28:00Speaker 1: also be on Mars by now because NASA, when it
- 28:03Speaker 1: was fully funded, got more done than SpaceX. But we don't,
- 28:06Speaker 1: and it's because of the actions of people like Jackie Chan.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Jackie Chan, we could have been on Mars.
- 28:12Speaker 1: And it's your fault, Jackie, that we're not on Mars. Okay,
- 28:15Speaker 1: we could have done a film with you on Mars.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You could have done well. It could have worked to
- 28:20Speaker 1: lease Story five on Mars.
- 28:22Speaker 2: This could have worked for both of us. But no,
- 28:25Speaker 2: you made your choices.
- 28:28Speaker 1: So let's just name some other pop culture figures and
- 28:32Speaker 1: see who should join Jackie chan on a list of
- 28:34Speaker 1: threats and enemies to the public. Number three might shock you.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Oh okay, coming in at number one, Simon Cowell, Simon,
- 28:46Speaker 1: does that surprise you?
- 28:48Speaker 2: Honestly, it doesn't. Funding all of these boy bands, it
- 28:53Speaker 2: takes a lot of money. He has to He's gotta
- 28:56Speaker 2: protect his money so that he cannot protect these youths.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Oh so you're saying that he had he had no
- 29:03Speaker 1: choice but to avoid text, Yes, so that he could
- 29:06Speaker 1: successfully provide us all with boy bands.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yes, that is a that is a public service. The
- 29:12Speaker 2: creation of boy bands is a public service to not
- 29:16Speaker 2: only our nation, but all all nations.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, manufactured pop is illegal, right.
- 29:23Speaker 2: That's that's a civil service. I don't believe this.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hard to tell when you're ill if it's
- 29:29Speaker 1: sarcasm or not. Yeah, yes, so, Simon, Simon Cowell, judge
- 29:34Speaker 1: On like America's Got Talent or The Got Talent Shows,
- 29:36Speaker 1: the X Factor Shows. Yes, the guy behind all of
- 29:39Speaker 1: those arguably one of the worst genres of entertainment to
- 29:45Speaker 1: ever grace the human race and so it kind of
- 29:48Speaker 1: checks out that he's, you know, robbing families of money.
- 29:53Speaker 2: He's robbing families of time when I have to watch
- 29:55Speaker 2: him on the television, and he's robbing families of money
- 29:59Speaker 2: in their real, real lives, in.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Their actual real bank accounts.
- 30:02Speaker 2: And time is money, And so it all comes back around.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Get out of here, Simon.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Coming in at number two, we have David Geffen. Do
- 30:13Speaker 1: you know who David Geffen is?
- 30:14Speaker 2: Yes, But for the listeners who don't know who David
- 30:19Speaker 2: Geffen is, could you please give us a little description.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Absolutely. So, he's a huge music mogul, founded Geffen Records
- 30:27Speaker 1: that signed some of the biggest artists of the twentieth century,
- 30:31Speaker 1: not so popular in the twenty first century, I don't
- 30:33Speaker 1: think as far as pop music, but did found dream
- 30:38Speaker 1: Works Animation Studio and broad production company. Now I guess yeah,
- 30:46Speaker 1: so I guess My question is was Shrek avoiding tax?
- 30:50Speaker 2: Yes, I'd say so. He didn't want anything on his land.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Definitely not refugees.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Okay, so just broadly yeah, broadly far.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, David Geffen and him told the irs to
- 31:03Speaker 2: get shrecked.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Do you think that was his first statement from the
- 31:08Speaker 1: lawyer uh huh is hey, if you come for us,
- 31:10Speaker 1: you're gonna get shrecked.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Uh huh. I think so. I think if they would
- 31:14Speaker 2: have done a deposition, they would have had him and
- 31:17Speaker 2: be like, would you do you have any opening statements
- 31:20Speaker 2: before the court? I do? And he picks up a
- 31:23Speaker 2: piece of paper, he unfolds it and he reads get shrecked. Yeah,
- 31:28Speaker 2: and then he folds it back up and he sits down.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I don't know who this man is, but I'm making
- 31:32Speaker 2: a lot of decisions about who he is.
- 31:34Speaker 1: And yeah, probably he said drain the swamp as well.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Oh, of course the swamp joke that because of Shrek,
- 31:41Speaker 2: Because of Shrek, draine my swamp.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I'm so glad we didn't get asked to read these
- 31:48Speaker 1: in the style of Mike Maya's.
- 31:49Speaker 2: No, I could not, under any circumstance make that work.
- 31:54Speaker 1: You know what to do? Listeners. No, And finally coming
- 31:59Speaker 1: in at number three, Hermione Granger, herself, Emma Watson, Emma,
- 32:05Speaker 1: does number three shock you?
- 32:07Speaker 2: Emma? Oh, number three does shock me?
- 32:11Speaker 1: The article title didn't lie.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Gosh was her giving the house elves clothes just charitable
- 32:18Speaker 2: donations that she could write off on her taxes.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, they were tax right offs. I bet
- 32:24Speaker 1: Emma Watson because she's like probably the youngest person on
- 32:27Speaker 1: this list. She probably wishes she could access hermione's time
- 32:30Speaker 1: turner to not allow this to happen to not so.
- 32:35Speaker 2: She could go back and not get caught.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yeah. I was, you know, I was gonna give her
- 32:40Speaker 1: the benefit of the doubt and say not take the
- 32:42Speaker 1: advice from her sort of financial advisor. But you know,
- 32:46Speaker 1: you might be right. It might be to not get caught.
- 32:48Speaker 1: I'll choose the Cayman Islands next time.
- 32:51Speaker 2: She was in a film called The Bling Ring where
- 32:54Speaker 2: it was like youths breaking into rich people's houses and.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Stealing and like, you know what to do listeners.
- 33:01Speaker 2: You I don't remember if there was like a redistribution
- 33:04Speaker 2: of wealth, but this was a cover up.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely a.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Cover up for tax evasion.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Because that's what she was doing by evading paying her
- 33:12Speaker 1: share of tax, her reasonable share of tax based on
- 33:15Speaker 1: the amount of wealth she has, like people died in poverty.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Mm hmm, crazy, amma. So it should be noted that
- 33:22Speaker 1: the people listed on the public Wikipedia are generally the
- 33:25Speaker 1: people who accepted some level of accountability for what they did,
- 33:30Speaker 1: So the above names and Jackie Chan as well, either
- 33:34Speaker 1: by stopping their actions altogether or at least having the
- 33:37Speaker 1: common decency to choose a country other than Panama and
- 33:41Speaker 1: find new loopholes and things.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Like that change their behavior, whether it was for the
- 33:46Speaker 2: better or sideways. Yes, they had the common decency to
- 33:50Speaker 2: say yes, I did that and make a change of
- 33:53Speaker 2: some kind.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Which is something. But there were thousands of people named
- 33:58Speaker 1: in the original document League who can't even be named
- 34:02Speaker 1: on Wikipedia or in many public news outlets for fear
- 34:07Speaker 1: of legal retribution. And I can't even say their names
- 34:11Speaker 1: now because otherwise I'd be suggesting that they are criminals
- 34:13Speaker 1: who rob the public of money, wealth, opportunity, affluence, those
- 34:18Speaker 1: kinds of things, and if I do mention their names,
- 34:20Speaker 1: we could face legal action. However, on a separate note,
- 34:24Speaker 1: I will say that I've been enjoying these fun rhymes lately.
- 34:28Speaker 1: So here are just some out of context fun rhymes.
- 34:31Speaker 1: See if you can see who they sound like. Melon
- 34:35Speaker 1: Husk was listed on the original Panama Papers. Swaddled Lump
- 34:42Speaker 1: does that one work?
- 34:43Speaker 2: Swaddled Lump. It's a little bit of a thinker, but
- 34:45Speaker 2: I think it is evocative.
- 34:47Speaker 1: If you say it's like swaddled swaddled lump, it kind
- 34:52Speaker 1: of sounds like the name of the person who originally
- 34:55Speaker 1: appeared on the Panama Papers. Cheetah feel Ah, Cheetah feel
- 35:01Speaker 1: We all know who I'm talking about. Mm hmm, suicide
- 35:04Speaker 1: or barrage. That's a British one there. And finally, this
- 35:10Speaker 1: one's the I think the biggest stretch chandelier. Rasp poutin. Actually,
- 35:16Speaker 1: you know, raspootin sounds too similar to pootin dang okay.
- 35:21Speaker 1: And those are those are just some of the names.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Those are just some random rhymes, just some random rhymes
- 35:27Speaker 2: that we have inserted for no reason.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Who are some of the biggest criminals of our age?
- 35:33Speaker 1: And there's nothing we can do about it. Sorry if
- 35:36Speaker 1: this wasn't fun, I had fun, But it's genuinely all
- 35:40Speaker 1: I could think about as soon as I saw that
- 35:42Speaker 1: Jackie Chan's name was on the Panama Papers. It's a
- 35:46Speaker 1: reminder about how quick our history can be forgotten or
- 35:49Speaker 1: distorted and please in these times of economic inequality and instability,
- 35:56Speaker 1: during these times of massive layoffs and job losses, during
- 35:59Speaker 1: the times of intentional divisions and diversions via manufactured culture wars.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Remember this universal truth that our forefathers used to topple
- 36:08Speaker 1: tyranny for centuries. There are more of us than there
- 36:13Speaker 1: are of them.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Do you hear that?
- 36:15Speaker 2: Be the song of angreenment?
- 36:21Speaker 1: Okay, now let that let's have some fun.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Let's have some fun. Our good friend, Aaron Randolph of
- 36:27Speaker 2: bfy tw he has prepared a game for us. Yes,
- 36:31Speaker 2: let's get to it.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Matt versus older baby, watch out for my villain Era.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Don't mess with the games Master Captain power up. I'm
- 36:41Speaker 1: going to score all the points.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Passing knowledge was enough.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to your doom.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I just hope we have a lot of fun.
- 36:50Speaker 1: And ignore this sentence. If you're a goddamn loser, you're
- 36:54Speaker 1: going down.
- 36:56Speaker 2: I want to fight. We are joined by Aaron Randolph
- 37:03Speaker 2: of bfytw.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Hello, Aaron Hellollo, Hello, lovely to be here for another
- 37:09Speaker 3: bonus round. I'm super stupid excited about this one.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Oh what have you got planned for us to play today?
- 37:18Speaker 3: It's one of my favorite breen Burner games. Absolute mind
- 37:24Speaker 3: melting puzzler of a show. It has no fabulous prize,
- 37:29Speaker 3: it is simply it is simply for the challenge and
- 37:33Speaker 3: the intellectual rigor of besting it. Yes, and the few
- 37:39Speaker 3: times when I managed to reach the conclusion before the
- 37:43Speaker 3: players is always so delightful. So we are playing a
- 37:47Speaker 3: legally distinct version of Only Connect that I've chosen to
- 37:52Speaker 3: call just correlate. We're safe, We're safe, yeah, Oudre and Matt,
- 38:01Speaker 3: you guys are going to play obviously on opposite teams,
- 38:03Speaker 3: as we've done all along so far, and you'll continue
- 38:06Speaker 3: to do so. It is one all tied up. It
- 38:08Speaker 3: is so whoever wins this game, I guess, is going
- 38:12Speaker 3: to take the lead and we'll see what happens from there.
- 38:16Speaker 3: You are, unfortunately going to be on your own and
- 38:20Speaker 3: for our first round here, I'm going to give you
- 38:24Speaker 3: the choice of six possible hieroglyphs to choose from. Each
- 38:28Speaker 3: hieroglyph contains four possible clues, and you have to figure
- 38:31Speaker 3: out what connects them. If you can figure out on
- 38:35Speaker 3: the first clue, by some miracle, what the connection is,
- 38:39Speaker 3: you may buzz in. And to make things simple, we're
- 38:43Speaker 3: not using a buzzer system or anything like that this time.
- 38:45Speaker 3: When you were ready to buzz in, just like on BFYTW,
- 38:48Speaker 3: I just want you to shout your own name.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Perfect easy.
- 38:52Speaker 3: So here, you guys can handle that. So when you're
- 38:54Speaker 3: ready to buzz in, just shout your own name. If
- 38:57Speaker 3: you're close enough, I'm not going to cut you off
- 38:59Speaker 3: of your after because internet lag is a real thing.
- 39:02Speaker 3: If you're after the timer, I'm not going to cut
- 39:03Speaker 3: you off unless you're like a full couple of seconds
- 39:06Speaker 3: after then sorry, too late. That's but I'll give you
- 39:09Speaker 3: a little bit of wiggle room because, like I said,
- 39:11Speaker 3: internet lag is real. But if I hear you shout
- 39:13Speaker 3: your own name, that means I know you're ready to
- 39:15Speaker 3: give me an answer. You get one shot at it.
- 39:17Speaker 3: If you fail, the other player will get to see
- 39:19Speaker 3: the remainder of the clues and they'll have a chance
- 39:21Speaker 3: to steal for one point. But if you get it
- 39:23Speaker 3: on the first clue, it's five points, second clue three points,
- 39:26Speaker 3: third clue two points, and if you get it after
- 39:29Speaker 3: all four clues, it's one point. But if you've seen
- 39:32Speaker 3: the show at all, you know any points at all
- 39:34Speaker 3: are pretty hard to come by.
- 39:35Speaker 1: So, oh yeah, we are both big fans of the show.
- 39:39Speaker 1: We have watched it together for a long time, but
- 39:41Speaker 1: we rarely get questions right.
- 39:42Speaker 3: All right, So Matt, you lost the last game, so
- 39:46Speaker 3: I'm going to give you the choice. Do you want
- 39:48Speaker 3: to go first or do you want to put Audra
- 39:50Speaker 3: in first? That bearing in mind that whoever goes first
- 39:54Speaker 3: now will go second in the third and final round.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I'm still gonna go first. I'm gonna go first.
- 40:00Speaker 3: You're gonna go first in that case, Matt. Pick a hieroglyph.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Oh well, I've got to go with the name of Aca.
- 40:06Speaker 1: You got We've We've named Oca after one of these hieroglyphs.
- 40:09Speaker 1: It's twisted flax.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Uh.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Your first clue for five points ungowned. Your time starts now, okay,
- 40:18Speaker 3: next for three points, ringtail.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I think possibly something to do with birds, but I'm
- 40:24Speaker 1: not one hundred percent confidence. I'm gonna say.
- 40:26Speaker 3: Next for two points encoded.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Ah, maybe not.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Next for one point pow wowed four seconds Matt. Matt
- 40:39Speaker 3: buzzes in. What do you say, sir?
- 40:41Speaker 1: Uh? Yeah, I'm gonna say these are caveats you would
- 40:45Speaker 1: give to birds, like types of buds.
- 40:49Speaker 3: I like it, but it's wrong, so I'm gonna throw
- 40:53Speaker 3: it over to Adra outer you can steal for one point.
- 40:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna say these are They're not all lemurs, but
- 40:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna say lemurs.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Ha I love it. It's also wrong. This is kind
- 41:07Speaker 3: of a word one but also a fandom.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I might know it.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Do you see it now? Well?
- 41:15Speaker 1: Pow Wowed has wow in the middle, and encoded has
- 41:17Speaker 1: called in the middle. So I wonder if it's some
- 41:19Speaker 1: kind of game related like acronym thing.
- 41:22Speaker 3: And ungowned has GW in it and Ringtail has GTA
- 41:27Speaker 3: in the middle. The does video game acronyms g OW,
- 41:31Speaker 3: God of war, GTA, GRANDT, auto, cod, Call of Duty, Wow,
- 41:36Speaker 3: World of Warcraft. Oh, that's all these words hide video
- 41:40Speaker 3: game acronyms.
- 41:41Speaker 1: That's a good question.
- 41:42Speaker 3: That's a good no point to anybody. But we're gonna
- 41:46Speaker 3: go back to the hieroglyphs and Audrey, you get your
- 41:49Speaker 3: choice of the five remaining two reads Lion, horned Viper,
- 41:52Speaker 3: water or Eye of Horus.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Let's go Lion Lion. It is also in honor of
- 41:58Speaker 2: Twisted Flat.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Also twisted Blacks. Okay, ouder once again, your time will
- 42:04Speaker 3: start after I give you the first clue for five points.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Leverage next for three points, the Blacklist.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Black List, Leverage the Blacklist.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Next for two points. The Raid.
- 42:21Speaker 2: The Raid I have time. I have time here, I
- 42:24Speaker 2: can I can leverage. No, I want the next.
- 42:28Speaker 3: One for one point. Red dead, Uh, Audra, what do
- 42:34Speaker 3: you say?
- 42:35Speaker 2: I'm just gonna say. They are all linked by redemption.
- 42:39Speaker 3: That's exactly right. They're all followed by redemption, leverage, redemption,
- 42:44Speaker 3: the blacklist redemption, the raid redemption, and of course red
- 42:47Speaker 3: dead redemption. Well done, yes, right good. That is our
- 42:51Speaker 3: first point on the board, and it goes to Oder.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Well done. We're gonna pop back over to Matt. Matt,
- 42:58Speaker 3: you get the choice of the remaining higher glyph. Would
- 43:00Speaker 3: you like two reeds, Hornet Viper, water or Ie of Horace.
- 43:03Speaker 1: I'll take that Horny Vipa please, Aaron Horny Viper.
- 43:06Speaker 3: It is for five points, Natalia Corda for three points,
- 43:13Speaker 3: Helena Harper next for two points, Moira Burton.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Oh okay, Matt.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Oh early buzz for two points.
- 43:25Speaker 1: And these all of the aliases of people who've been
- 43:29Speaker 1: catwoman like catwoman aliases.
- 43:32Speaker 3: I like it, but it's wrong, Sorry, Matt. I'm gonna
- 43:36Speaker 3: throw it over to Adra and give order the final clue,
- 43:39Speaker 3: and you can steal it for one point. The last
- 43:40Speaker 3: clue is Jill Valentine.
- 43:43Speaker 2: I do not know, but I'm gonna say maiden names
- 43:47Speaker 2: of Tim Burton's.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Why that's my guess.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I love it, but it's wrong. Matt, having seen the
- 43:57Speaker 3: last clue, do you have any idea?
- 44:00Speaker 1: Is it Resident Evil characters?
- 44:03Speaker 3: It's Resident Evil heroines playable characters in the Resident Evil franchise,
- 44:08Speaker 3: and they all are women. So just just for a
- 44:11Speaker 3: little bit of extra fun. No point there, But that's okay.
- 44:15Speaker 3: I kind of expected this.
- 44:18Speaker 1: It's these are very good questions.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Yeah, we're gonna go back.
- 44:21Speaker 2: We're accurate.
- 44:22Speaker 3: We're going to go back to Odre. For the remaining
- 44:24Speaker 3: three hieroglyphs. You have two reeds Water and I of Horace.
- 44:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Iye of Horace.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Eye of Horus. It is for five points. Matt Salinger,
- 44:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Next for three points, why at Russell?
- 44:39Speaker 2: Oh?
- 44:40Speaker 3: Next for two points, Anthony Mackie, I do not know this.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Next for one point, Chris Evans Oudra, what do you say?
- 44:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna say that they were all Captain America.
- 44:57Speaker 3: They were all Captain America. Exactly, well done. That's another
- 45:02Speaker 3: point for Andrey.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Yes, we roll.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Matt Salinger was Captain America in like the nineteen eighty
- 45:11Speaker 3: version of Captain America. Oh wow, and Whytt Russell played
- 45:15Speaker 3: him in the uh the Falcon in the Winter Soldier series,
- 45:20Speaker 3: who eventually became US agent.
- 45:23Speaker 1: That's Russell's son, right, Wyatt Russell.
- 45:26Speaker 3: I don't know, he could be I genuinely don't know.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Check check he could be right, I don't know. And
- 45:32Speaker 3: Chris Evans of course was the Captain America for most
- 45:35Speaker 3: of the MCU and Anthony Mackie is the Captain America. Now,
- 45:39Speaker 3: so well done, Andre, one point to you, and we
- 45:41Speaker 3: go back to Matt for the final two higherg glyphs
- 45:44Speaker 3: two reads or water.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Let's go two reads? Please, two reads?
- 45:48Speaker 3: It is for five points. Gena von Oi next for
- 45:54Speaker 3: three points. Aiden Gallagher next for two points. Your Ryan
- 46:02Speaker 3: next for one point. Millie Bobby Brown?
- 46:08Speaker 1: Okay, Matt, what do you say? They all played characters
- 46:13Speaker 1: that were numbers that were named number.
- 46:15Speaker 3: They all played characters named after number is exactly right?
- 46:18Speaker 3: Uh yeah, Millie Bobby Brown of course was twelve and
- 46:22Speaker 3: Stranger Things Jerry Ryan eleven or eleven? Sorry? Where did
- 46:28Speaker 3: I get twelve? From?
- 46:30Speaker 1: Going on?
- 46:31Speaker 3: I just added? Sorry? Sorry? Milly played eleven in Stranger
- 46:36Speaker 3: Things Jerry Ryan was seven of nine on Voyager and Picard,
- 46:39Speaker 3: although she began going after original human name Anika. Aiden
- 46:45Speaker 3: Gallagher played five in Umbrella Academy and Jenna played six
- 46:49Speaker 3: on the sitcom Blossom. Very very very well done. And
- 46:55Speaker 3: we are down to just our final hieroglyph, and this
- 46:59Speaker 3: one goes to Odra, and you have no choice.
- 47:02Speaker 1: I'm afraid, dang, I choose water.
- 47:06Speaker 2: I still choose.
- 47:06Speaker 3: It's a good choice. It's a really good choice. One.
- 47:09Speaker 3: I thoroughly, thoroughly endorse that choice. For five points. The
- 47:14Speaker 3: Pink Palace Apartments. Next for three points, Hawkins Indiana. One more,
- 47:22Speaker 3: next for two points, Silent Hill.
- 47:26Speaker 2: M Let's oh this okay? Do I risk it? No,
- 47:33Speaker 2: I'm gonna get one more. I'm not gonna risk it.
- 47:34Speaker 2: I'm not gonna risk it for.
- 47:35Speaker 3: One point high rule in multiple games. Four seconds. I
- 47:41Speaker 3: heard your name just in the nick of time.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Thank goodness. I'm gonna say that these are the settings
- 47:51Speaker 2: of Game of the Year winners.
- 47:55Speaker 3: I really like that, guess, but it's wrong. I'm afraidank,
- 47:59Speaker 3: so I'm gonna throw it over to Matt. You can
- 48:01Speaker 3: steal it from one point, sir, if you know the
- 48:03Speaker 3: connection to these four things.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna say that the like haunted places in video games.
- 48:11Speaker 3: That's not quite correct either. I'm afraid two of these
- 48:16Speaker 3: aren't in video games. For one thing, these all are
- 48:21Speaker 3: places that have dark alternate worlds.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Ah.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Yes, Silent Hill has a dark side that whenever the
- 48:31Speaker 3: sirens go off and your character mysteriously passes out, they
- 48:33Speaker 3: wake up and suddenly the place they were in is
- 48:35Speaker 3: now covered in gore. Hide Roll has a dark world
- 48:39Speaker 3: that link and flip back and forth to Hawkins, Indiana.
- 48:42Speaker 3: I believe is from is from Stranger Things, which has
- 48:48Speaker 3: the upside down, and the pink palace apartments are from Coraline,
- 48:54Speaker 3: where she finds the other world.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Ah, I was wondering where I reckick nice that one from.
- 49:01Speaker 3: So after all of our hieroglyphs are done, our first
- 49:05Speaker 3: round is over and Audre has two points and Matt
- 49:09Speaker 3: has one.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Hey, it's close.
- 49:11Speaker 2: This is this is pretty on par for when we
- 49:14Speaker 2: play Yeah, the actual TV show. So this is great.
- 49:19Speaker 3: I was genuinely so concerned that I'd made them too
- 49:22Speaker 3: hard and it was gonna be zero zero. So I'm thrilled.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Let's be glad that we can barely perform.
- 49:33Speaker 3: Let's move on to our next round. This is going
- 49:35Speaker 3: to be fandom sequences. I'm gonna give you the first
- 49:38Speaker 3: three things in a sequence. You just have to tell
- 49:41Speaker 3: me what comes forth in that sequence. Matt. You maintain
- 49:45Speaker 3: us going first, so you get the choice of the
- 49:48Speaker 3: six hieroglyphs. Where would you like to start?
- 49:50Speaker 1: I would like to start with twisted flax. I'm stealing
- 49:53Speaker 1: our boy, twisted flax. That's fair, Matt.
- 49:57Speaker 3: For your sequence? The for five points, Liberty City, San
- 50:02Speaker 3: Andreas and Vice City next for three points, anywhere USA
- 50:09Speaker 3: next for two points, Liberty City.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Okay, still possibly going backwards in rock Star releases, maybe
- 50:20Speaker 1: is what I'm thinking. So therefore, I'm gonna say, Matt,
- 50:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna buzz in and what do you say? I
- 50:29Speaker 1: Am going to say San Andreas.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Ah, that is incorrect, So I have to throw it
- 50:37Speaker 3: over to for a single point. Can you tell me
- 50:42Speaker 3: what the fourth item in the sequence should be?
- 50:45Speaker 2: Vice City is right?
- 50:48Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 50:51Speaker 2: Do say the first clue again, Matt.
- 50:55Speaker 3: I wonder if you were overthinking this a little bit.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Quite possibly.
- 50:58Speaker 3: So these are the settings for the first four Grand
- 51:01Speaker 3: Theft Auto games. Grand Theft Auto one takes place in
- 51:05Speaker 3: three areas named Liberty City, San Andreas, and Vice City.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Grand Theft Auto's two setting is called Anywhere USA. Grand
- 51:12Speaker 3: Theft Auto three takes place in just Liberty City, and
- 51:16Speaker 3: the game after that was Grand Theft Auto Vice City.
- 51:20Speaker 3: I would also have accepted Liberty City again, because you
- 51:25Speaker 3: could also make a sequence of Grand Theft Auto one, two, three,
- 51:28Speaker 3: and four. Sure, but San Andreas was not on that list.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Of the trio of answers that were already on the
- 51:37Speaker 1: screen in the first place, any of the other two.
- 51:41Speaker 1: I just got two points.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Okay, sad but true, Andres snaked a point from you,
- 51:47Speaker 3: and I'll tell you this. This question was almost harder.
- 51:50Speaker 3: I left out Grand Theft Auto London nineteen sixty nine
- 51:54Speaker 3: because it was technically an expansion pack. But there was
- 51:57Speaker 3: a harder version of this question, which included nineteen sixties
- 52:00Speaker 3: London as the second clue. But it didn't didn't happen,
- 52:05Speaker 3: doesn't matter, Aldre Oudre steals the point and it's now
- 52:09Speaker 3: her choice. Audre, which hieroglyph of the remaining would you like?
- 52:14Speaker 2: I'm gonna go for two reads?
- 52:17Speaker 3: Two reads? It is for five points nineteen eighty five. Ooh,
- 52:23Speaker 3: next for three points nineteen fifty five, Audre, Audra, buzz
- 52:32Speaker 3: is very early. Buzz for three.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Points eighteen eighty five.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Is incorrect, I'm afraid. So I'm going to show Matt
- 52:42Speaker 3: the third clue, which is nineteen eighty five. Yet again,
- 52:46Speaker 3: and Matt, you will get one point if you can
- 52:48Speaker 3: tell me what the fourth item should be.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Is it twenty fifteen?
- 52:53Speaker 3: It is twenty fifteen? Yeah, And Oudre knows exactly what
- 52:57Speaker 3: these are, don't you?
- 52:58Speaker 2: For Yeah? For how did I forget that they went
- 53:01Speaker 2: back to the future.
- 53:06Speaker 3: Yeah, these are the back to the future years. In sequence,
- 53:09Speaker 3: Marty starts in nineteen eighty five, he travels back to
- 53:12Speaker 3: nineteen fifty five, he goes back to nineteen eighty five,
- 53:15Speaker 3: and then Doc says, gotta do something about your kids,
- 53:18Speaker 3: and then they got it twenty fifteen. So well done
- 53:22Speaker 3: on stealing a point from water. There after she did
- 53:25Speaker 3: the same to you. Yep.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Just it's recipratory, reciprocal, reciprocal.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Sure, yeah, yeah, all right, Matt, what hieroglyph of the
- 53:35Speaker 3: remaining would you like? You've got lion, horned viper, water
- 53:38Speaker 3: and eye of Horace.
- 53:39Speaker 1: I would like the eye of Horace.
- 53:41Speaker 3: Please, you may have the eye of Horus for five points,
- 53:45Speaker 3: Blood next for three points, Chance next for two points.
- 53:53Speaker 3: The man You've got time.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm gonna have to leave. All these is
- 54:00Speaker 1: four seconds.
- 54:02Speaker 3: Buzzes in before the buzzer met. What do you got?
- 54:05Speaker 1: I don't know, so I'm going to say no, because
- 54:10Speaker 1: that would be two words. I'm gonna I'm gonna say,
- 54:12Speaker 1: uh pat.
- 54:14Speaker 3: No, I'm sorry, that is incorrect. So I'm gonna throw
- 54:17Speaker 3: it over to Audre for a chance to steal for
- 54:19Speaker 3: one point. Audre, what do you think the fourth thing
- 54:22Speaker 3: could be?
- 54:23Speaker 2: Let's say water.
- 54:29Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 54:32Speaker 3: Yeah, this is a tough one, and I'm gonna say yeah, no, no,
- 54:38Speaker 3: definitely not. Okay, sorry, so this this is a tough one.
- 54:45Speaker 3: But I'll just try and throw a few more hints
- 54:48Speaker 3: at you. You've you've heard of the first Rambo movie? Right?
- 54:54Speaker 1: Oh okay, So it's yes, First Blood, Second Chance, the
- 55:00Speaker 1: Third Man, and so it would be a movie with
- 55:02Speaker 1: fourth the title exactly right.
- 55:05Speaker 2: The CHNDS Police Strike four.
- 55:09Speaker 3: These are movie titles with their ordinal numbers removed. So
- 55:13Speaker 3: first first was taken away from First Blood, Second was
- 55:16Speaker 3: taken away from Second Chance, The Third Man, as an example,
- 55:19Speaker 3: our fourth answer was the Protocol, which there is a
- 55:22Speaker 3: movie called the Fourth Protocol.
- 55:24Speaker 1: But yes, this element.
- 55:26Speaker 3: Yeah, we could have kept going, could have kept going
- 55:33Speaker 3: the longest sequence, the eighth mass Wonder extinction. Let's move Okay,
- 55:45Speaker 3: so no points either side there, We're gonna go back
- 55:48Speaker 3: to utter order. You may have lion, horned viper or water.
- 55:52Speaker 2: Let's go horned viper, horned viper.
- 55:55Speaker 3: It is for five points, cyber.
- 55:59Speaker 2: Let's go for an other one for.
- 56:01Speaker 3: Three points and why cyber.
- 56:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take one more. I'm not gonna think
- 56:07Speaker 2: that I'm gonna get this.
- 56:08Speaker 3: For two points. It's Miami.
- 56:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah. And it's not just the connection ah ooh odra,
- 56:19Speaker 2: because I'm gonna give an answer obviously. You know, let's
- 56:25Speaker 2: say Denver.
- 56:28Speaker 3: Is incorrect, so I'm gonna throw it over to Matt
- 56:31Speaker 3: to steal.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Is it just crime scene investigation?
- 56:37Speaker 3: That is a correct answer, crime scene investigation, or I
- 56:41Speaker 3: would have accepted Las Vegas. Matt, do you know what
- 56:44Speaker 3: these are?
- 56:45Speaker 1: These are the subtitles of the CSI show is going backwards?
- 56:49Speaker 3: Is exactly right? These are the CSI shows in reverse orders.
- 56:53Speaker 3: So CSA cyber, Yes, is cyber yes, was killed. The
- 56:58Speaker 3: franchise apparently show that came out after CSI New York,
- 57:02Speaker 3: which came out after CSI Miami, which of course came
- 57:05Speaker 3: out after CSI crime scene investigations. But as it's known
- 57:10Speaker 3: sometimes on official things, it is crime CSI Las Vegas.
- 57:14Speaker 3: So I would have accepted either answer, but Matt was
- 57:16Speaker 3: exactly right. So well done Matt for stealing that point.
- 57:19Speaker 3: And we go back to the hieroglyphs and Matt, is
- 57:22Speaker 3: your turn to choose Lion or Water, Sir, Let's go
- 57:26Speaker 3: with the water. The water it is for five points.
- 57:30Speaker 3: Ion next for three points, Iron Patriot next for two points.
- 57:41Speaker 3: Infinity Man.
- 57:43Speaker 1: They sound like knock off superheroes. The all begin with
- 57:48Speaker 1: Eye and that's the all I've got to go off of,
- 57:51Speaker 1: So get ready for a real six superhero the beginning
- 57:54Speaker 1: four seconds. Matt, incredible, dude.
- 58:05Speaker 3: I love it. It is wrong. I'm afraid, so I'm
- 58:09Speaker 3: throw it over to Audre to steal a point. If
- 58:11Speaker 3: you can tell me what the fourth thing is.
- 58:13Speaker 2: I'm just gonna say, Iron Man, Are these pre iron Man?
- 58:18Speaker 3: Sadly no, pre Iron Man's I love that. Now this
- 58:23Speaker 3: one was kind of evil, and that's really on me.
- 58:27Speaker 3: But I'm wondering if you'll get it if I tell
- 58:30Speaker 3: you that the fourth one, there's no chance if I
- 58:33Speaker 3: tell you that the fourth one I chose was Invaders,
- 58:37Speaker 3: because there is a single eye in Ion, there are
- 58:40Speaker 3: two eyes in Iron, Patriots there are three eyes, and Infinity. Man,
- 58:44Speaker 3: these are Roman numerals in superheroes names. So I'm looking
- 58:48Speaker 3: for something with an I and a V in that order,
- 58:52Speaker 3: and Invaders.
- 58:54Speaker 1: That is very clever. I was never going to get
- 58:57Speaker 1: that one. But that is the exact kind of question
- 58:59Speaker 1: on the show Why.
- 59:01Speaker 3: Tough one?
- 59:03Speaker 2: This is you did the exact Victoria kran Mitchell thing
- 59:06Speaker 2: of stopping and being like, now, this one's devious. I
- 59:10Speaker 2: told the question writers, I learned from the best you
- 59:13Speaker 2: know an icon.
- 59:15Speaker 3: She's a queen. Oh yeah, all right, which one would
- 59:20Speaker 3: you like? Not that you have much choice. You may
- 59:22Speaker 3: have Lion.
- 59:23Speaker 2: I would love to have the Lion question.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Excellent choice for five points? Returns.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Oh, let's go next for three points forever returns forever. Oh,
- 59:42Speaker 2: I do the next one as well?
- 59:44Speaker 3: Yes for two points and Robin.
- 59:48Speaker 2: Robin, oh, oh ora, what do you got? Show show?
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: I love that. Sadly it is wrong. So I'm gonna
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: throw it over to Matt, who can steal a point
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: here if you can give me the fourth and the sequence, sir,
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: is it begins? It is begins, well done, Yes, and
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: you obviously know what these are.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: It is the Batman subtitles going forwards in time.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: Yes, exactly right, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: And of course the next Batman movie came out after that,
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: which was Batman Begins.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: I had no idea anything. I knew all of these
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: were Batman Batman. That there was I knew before me
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Lay three Batman, but I just had no idea. So
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: I was like the Batman show.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: Love the idea of the Batman Show. Well, that is
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: it for our sequences round. And so at the end
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: of our sequences on, Audrey has three points, but Matt
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: has climbed into the lead with four. All right, welcome
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: to our third and final round. And this round is
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: going to be more connections. However, up until this point,
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: all the connections have had something to do with various fandoms.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: This time they could be about anything, anything, absolutely anything.
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: So as it's going to be slightly harder, it's a
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: silly thing to say, considering how we got here, as
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: it is going to be slightly harder, these are now
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: worth double points. So if you managed to find the
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: connection on the first clue, it's worth wopping ten points.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: On the second clue, it'll be worth six, on the
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: third it'll be worth four, and if you get it
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: on the last clue, it'll be worth two points. So
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: bear that in mind. And since Matt went first in
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: rounds one and two, Audrey, you're going to get to
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: go first this time, and you once again have your
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: choice of the hieroglyphs. Where would you like to start?
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Twisted FLACs?
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: The flax it is she steals the flags for ten
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: points your first clue, Aaron Eckhart, let's go for next
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: for six points. Scott Wood God would oh?
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna need another one.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: For four points? Faith read?
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: Scott would faith read? Or last one.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: For two points? Eric belfour odra Oh, I was just
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: about to say four seconds. What do you got?
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: I think that hidden in all of these names are
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: sections of an orchestra.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: I love that, but it's wrong, so I'm gonna throw
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: it over to Matt. Matt, you can steal for two
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: points if you can tell me what the connection is.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: Maybe I'm wrong about this being Eric Balfour, and I
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: don't know enough about the others, but these like the
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: people who've been in the like have the most IMDb credits.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: No, I'm sorry, these are not the people in the most. Audrey,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: you were so close. I genuinely thought you were going
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: to say it. Hidden in these celebrity names are just numbers.
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: You can pick out one from Aaron et Hurt, you
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: can find two in Scott Wood, you can find three
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: in faith Read, and the Eric belfour. They're just numbers.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: They're just hidden numbers.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: That's all I was going for Wood and Read, but
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: I guess that those are kind of a reference to
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: the same thing.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Aaron Eckhart, Faith Read and Eric Balfour are all actors.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: Scott Wood is a famous basketball player. But they're just
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: celebrities who happen to have numbers just hiding there in
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: their names.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Sorry, it was a word thing.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you were, You were on the right track, and
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: I genuinely thought you were going to say it. In
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: any event, we gotta go back too. We're gonna go
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: back over to Matt. Matt, you have the choice of
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: the higher glyphs.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Where would you like to go that lion?
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: Please iroon that lion for ten points, Magic the gatherings
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: in the Veneral's disc o. Next for six points, Bill
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: and Ted's bogus journeys Denomalos.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Hmm, I need to secal points, and I say next.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: For four points green lanterns Snodge Matt for four points.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Is this items that they have that they that spin
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: that they have to blow on to make work? Ha ha.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: I love that it's wrong. That seems to be my
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: theme for this for this episode because I love that
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: it's wrong.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: It's fantastic.
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: Your guesses are so good. It's wrong. So I'm going
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: to give the fourth clue to Audra and Aure. You
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: can steal two points so you can tell me what
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: the connection.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Is Star Wars is?
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Who is.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Greeblips green Blips? I think that the the item listed
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: backwards says something.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: Could you be a little more specific? You're stealing the point.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: I have to get.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Specific references what it looks like in real life.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: No, I'm sorry, you're right there. It's about something. But
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: these are all named in honor of someone backwards. So
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: Greebolips backwards is Spielberg. Nodge is John's Ars, which is
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: the name of one of the artists for Green Lantern.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: One of the writers for Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: is Ed Solomon, So the villainin's name is Denomelos in
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: honor of him, and the Venerals Disc is named after
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: an item in a book written by Larry Niven, a
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: disc which actually destroys magic, so that in honor of him,
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: they called it in the Veneral's Disc, but it's actually
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Larry Niven.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: That's good.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: Gosh. I saw John's and so I was like, I
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: bet it's a bathroom. I was like that bathroom. They're
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: all backwards for toilets, they're alls for something.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: True story. Star Wars greenb Ellipse is the name of
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: the et that does a cameo, and I think Star
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: Wars the Phantom Menace. Oh that's what greeb Ellipse is,
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: I wondered.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I just thought the et thing was like, oh, yeah,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: let's reference this field bug stuff, but actually Greenblips as well.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good. All right. So we're back to Audra
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: and are you get to choose which of these higher
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: glyphs would you like to reads, horn viper water or
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: I of horse.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Let's go to reads who.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Reads it is once again for ten points. Knights Templar
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: grand Masters.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Let's go next.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: For six points.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Hilbert's problems, Hilbert's Hilbert's problems.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: Brand masters.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: Let's go one more for four points. Doctor Pepper flavors.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Let's audra.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: For four points.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Are there twenty three of these things?
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: There are twenty three of these things? Nice booh, yeah,
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: we have knights templar grandmasters. There are twenty three of those.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: Hilbert was a mathematician who submitted twenty three mathematical problems.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: Doctor Pepper has twenty three flavors, well worked out. The
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: final clue was pairs of chromosomes in the human cell,
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: all of which there are twenty three of Well done, Audra, Very.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Well, plads. You have leapfrogged me massively.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: Yeah, well I have, Matt. This is your chance to
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: bring it back. You have your choice of hornet, viper
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: water or I have horus.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Sir, Let's see that honey, hony snake.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Horny snake, come in see him all right, Matt, once
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: again for ten points. Your first clue. Meridian next for
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: six points Tianan Men next for four points. Brandenburg, Matt,
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: are they all squaz They are not all squares, I'm afraid.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: So I'm gonna throw it over to Adra and show
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: her the fourth clue. Golden for two points. Auder, can
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: you tell me what the connection is?
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Gates?
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: They are all gates.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: I would not have gotten it without Golden.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, if you'd just gone for that last blue mat,
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: I think you would have. You would have snaked it.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: But yeah, pro I certainly would have moved me away
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: from square.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: Yes, the Meridian and Tiananman gates are both in Beijing. Beijing,
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: Brandenburg Gate is in Berlin, and the Golden Gate is
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: in Jerusalem. Unless you like your gates made of water,
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: then you'll find it's the straight that the Golden Gate
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: bridge hangs over in San Francisco. But I felt it
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: was more appropriate to use an actual gait in there.
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: Any event, So we are going to swap back over
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: to Odre, who has the final choice between water and
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: I of Horace.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: Let's go I of Horace.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: I have Horace. It is all right. Odre for ten points.
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: Ion next for six points, Barren, Oh next for four points.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: Crew Crew next for two points Carolina, Uh.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: I have no idea, Odra. These are all regions of Arizona.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: I love the way your voice just kind of trembles
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: when you're bravely taking a stab at something but you're
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: incredibly unsure about. Oh yeah, it is immensely endearing.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: There's a certain additional timber that it takes on when
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: I know halfway through that I'm like, this isn't this
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: isn't a good answer or a funny answer.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Now, wouldn't it be amazing if you'd somehow stumbled onto
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: the right answer. You didn't, though, so don't worry about it, Matt.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: For two points you can steal if you can tell
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: me what these have in common.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: Baron and Crewe when they will appear together, they filming
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: some kind of link in my mind, but I can't
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: figure it out. So I'm just gonna say, sucks.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: I love that, but sadly it's wrong. This one's a
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: little bit closer to home. These are gate Labors cast
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: names with one letter changed. Oh John, Baron Drew in
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: care line. You could just change one letter, go.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Fuck yourself, Aaron. Yeah, there should be like second nature
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: to me and I should be like, oh yeah, these
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: are the best people in the world.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: I am just drinking and the hater so richly deserved. Matt,
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: you get the last, the last tied glyph, and it's
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: the water one once again for ten points, y m c.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: A okay, and these, yeah, these are double fucking I'm
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: gonna go next.
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: For six points baseball.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: If I'm gonna win, I'm gonna need to take it
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: on this clothes. So next, no no, no, no, no no
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: no no next, not next. Okay, we're gonna hang We're
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: gonna hang out right here until the last possible second.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: Okay, why am C a baseball? Four seconds?
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: I'm are these all goddamn American institutions?
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: Could you be more specific?
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: American institutions founded by precedents?
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: I love it. Guess what that means? Oh that's wrong.
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: I'm sorry. No, I'm going to show ouder the remaining clues,
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: which are the office and the melody of the Star
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: Spangled Banner and oder for two points? Can you steal.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: The melody of the Star Spangled Banner? I'm just gonna
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: say the all of these have music that sounds best
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: on a melodica.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: Ha, you guys are just the best. I just.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: The best of wrong answers.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: I have been having the absolute best time. Uh. No,
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: these are things like Matt Watson himself. Technically, these are
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: things America stole from Britain. No, the YMC was originally
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: a British idea which Americans co opted, much like baseball,
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: the office, and the melody of the stresspangled Banner, which,
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: interestingly enough, it's it's it's actually Francis scott Key did
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: write the lyrics, but it sung to the tune of
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: an eighteenth century English drinking song called the Anacreontic song,
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: which I don't know. I don't know what the hell
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: an anacreon is, but.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: It's probably like when you use a song to parody
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: the enemy. And so it started out as like, oh yeah,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: well mock the British song, but then it just became
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: the cinci or anthem of America.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: There's two others that I have examples of that. Yankee
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: Doodle Dandy was originally a song that the British wrote
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: to make fun of us, and we used it as
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: a marching song and said, yes, I am, I didn't
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: do what a dandy? And then the other one is
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: my Country tis of the it is just the UK
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: national anthem melody as well. Oh yeah by country. Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: that's the UK's national anthem.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I know what this means.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: Well, it does mean that if the end of our
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: third and final round Matt has four points, but Aud's
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: are winner with nine. Oh oh, congirl conditions, Odro, very well.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Done, thank you. I am so proud of my nine points.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: If I went on like standard only Connect and I
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: got sorry, just correlate, if I got nine points, I
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: would be ecstatic.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I would be so proud. These things
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: are typically, you know, very very hard, and that's why
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: the teams are made up of three people.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: Yes, there's three of me. We'd have eighteen points. Wait,
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: Matt's twenty seven. Oh this is a bust. Thank you
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: so much, Aared.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: This was a dream.
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: Pat had so much fun putting this together and I'm
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: just it's just always having a blast with you guys.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: So let's keep keep on carrying on, shall we. Yeah. Absolutely,
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: I wonder what I'm going to come up with next time.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I do too. I know we'll be revisiting Only Connect.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: I know that much of the line.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: This is definitely coming back. This was too much fun.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: Not to Absolutely, this was incredible, not just because I won,
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: but because it was incredible and we will see you
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: next time. Aaron us say, oh, we're making this nationalist, now,
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: are we? This is USA versus UK as well? No,
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: it just felt it just felt right, especially since yeah
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: it felt far right.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: How dare you.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: Fine? A unity of nations? But I happened to win that.
