- 0:00Welcome, welcome, welcome. It is a Friday evening and yes, you are absolutely in the
- 0:14right place. Welcome to the regulars. I'm Cody Decker. I'm Tanya Ray Fox and we are,
- 0:19this is a Friday to beat all Fridays. We are in full Friday mode. I feel like this show
- 0:24is going to reflect Friday mode right now. To be quite honest, we're both, we got a lot
- 0:28going on. Um, we also, as we were, you know, go as we always do, we go through the rundown
- 0:33ahead of time and there were a couple of things, I don't know if you've seen it cause you've
- 0:36been working really hard breaking new stuff that we're not getting to in the show that
- 0:40we might as well just kind of, um, I want to tell you about off the top. Well, I, can
- 0:44I take a guess at what are one of the things on? Oh boy. Oh boy. I think it's time we take
- 0:48away a tiger woods is, uh, his license. I don't know. I just think there's a menace
- 0:54to himself, others in society. He does not have Elan to blame chasing him down the road.
- 0:59This go around. Does it really doesn't? Yeah. She's got free on this one. It's genuinely
- 1:04a little concerning. Like, uh, you know, I am by no means a person who's a Stan of athletes
- 1:11very often. So I like, I don't need tiger woods to be like an incredible person to be
- 1:16like, Oh, he was a great golfer. I also feel perfectly comfortable to critique a professional
- 1:22athletes, even if they are goats, he's not well, no, like this is a, it's, it's, it's
- 1:27sad. Um, it's scary. Like this man kind of has put himself in situations where it's not
- 1:33only is he risking his own life, but other lives, another car crash, um, and a dangerous
- 1:38one at that. So we're not going to be talking about that, but just off the top tiger woods,
- 1:42um, was about to debut too. He was about, he was preparing to, well, that's the rumor
- 1:47depending on who you ask, because there was the, uh, wonderful thing that was put out
- 1:52by the president of the United States where he went on the FOC of the five on Fox. Cause
- 1:57the guy just loves him some TV and wanted to break some news. Like, ah, yes, yes. I'm
- 2:00going to be there, but, uh, I don't know. I was a big fan of tiger, but he's not going
- 2:06to be playing. He's going to be there, but he's not going to be playing. And, uh, that's
- 2:10what he said. So I'm like, wow. Apparently the president doesn't know what's, I mean,
- 2:14he's so honest all the time. So did you see the pen, the pen thing? He went on like a,
- 2:20like a four to five minute rant about pens that like just did not end the gold thousand
- 2:25dollar pens. The man does and says goes on forever and have nothing to make a damn lick
- 2:30of sets. I don't know if you heard, we have been in a war that isn't a war that we won,
- 2:35but need help, but don't need help, but need the straight or her moose open, but it doesn't
- 2:39need to be open because we don't use their gas, but we need help from our allies, but
- 2:43our allies don't need to give us help. So thus we don't need them anyways. And it doesn't
- 2:47matter because we already won the war. I'm literally quoting his entire tweet thread
- 2:54on whatever the hell that stupid app he has is. Yeah. And it all makes total sense. The
- 2:59other thing that we aren't hitting, but did break just before the show is that the Connecticut
- 3:04sun were reportedly, this is what I read from my report on my update that they were sold
- 3:10and will be relocated to Houston and become the comments. Okay. Which is pretty wild.
- 3:16I feel really, really tough for any fan base that loses a team, especially right now with
- 3:21the WNBA catching the way they are for the, for Connecticut to lose a team is pretty brutal.
- 3:28So obviously always happy for Houston sports fans are a good group of fans down there,
- 3:34but that's a, you know, getting a team back after losing a team, it's a whole thing. Yeah.
- 3:39So we're not going to be hitting on that. We will be talking about, um, you know, uh,
- 3:43some less, some more serious kind of subjects today, but I didn't want to get into the show
- 3:49because that those are two pretty big stories that are pretty big. And you know, the tiger
- 3:52one was breaking. It started as a, you know, an overturned vehicle. And I know what my
- 3:55thought was. And I was live on the air at the time when it happened. My thought process
- 4:00was, okay, I could say what I think it's going to be, but I'm like, I just want to make sure
- 4:03everybody's okay. First. I want to make sure we got all the headlines. We just gave the
- 4:06information that we got live and then finding out that there were no injuries. So I felt
- 4:11a little more confident and comfortable going like, you know what it looks like, dude, you
- 4:15know what it looks like. What do you mean? Uh, that it looks like if tiger got involved
- 4:19in a two car accident on a very small lane highway in Florida, there's an overturn. My
- 4:24first thought was somebody was drinking and I'm hoping it wasn't tiger. Oh, he was. I
- 4:29know he was. No, no. And then later on, later on about 5.00 PM, they came out and put out
- 4:34the statement. No, no. He was arrested. Yes. He blew triple zeros. And we're, we're back
- 4:40at where we were about what? Five, six years ago. It's been, it's where I don't know that
- 4:43he's ever like fully gone. It's it sucks. We know why tiger where and how a tiger may
- 4:50have developed, um, some pretty severe. And so it's, it's a touchy thing. It's not, it's
- 4:56certainly not anything that other people haven't dealt with before. Lots of people have dealt
- 5:00with dependence issues, uh, after going through surgeries and getting on pain pills and whatever
- 5:04else. So it's, there's no, not to make light of it, but I mean, you, this is several times
- 5:12now at this point where it's like you are now, there's no reason this man should be
- 5:15behind a wheel. It needs to be done. It needs to be done. And I'm sorry to say it. Um, completely,
- 5:21but uh, we'll go ahead and get into our stories. And I gotta say right out the gate, we are
- 5:24not starting at a happier place. I can't stress that enough. It's getting worse right off
- 5:28the top. I don't know what to say other than I will never ever, ever understand the grift
- 5:38that has been perpetrated on the world of sports the way it has in the last couple of
- 5:44years. Thus headline number one, Tanya, take it away. The Olympic committee, the IOC has
- 5:52banned trans athletes from winning women's events. This is something they've been threatening.
- 5:58They've been planning to do for awhile. Um, it's something that required a very specific
- 6:05way to decide how they were going to ban these trans athletes. Let's make it very clear.
- 6:12They are banning trans women from women's events. This is not banning trans men from
- 6:18competing in men's events. As far as we know, that has not happened. Um, for the record,
- 6:23there is, uh, there was a weightlifter named Laurel Hubbard who made history as the first
- 6:28openly transgender woman to, to be at the Olympics. That was in Tokyo of 2021. She did
- 6:32not medal and she is the only known open trans woman to have ever competed at the Olympics.
- 6:37Uh, since then, nothing in either winter or summer. And I want to make it abundantly clear,
- 6:43uh, the last time we dealt with specifically with the Olympics and the transgender panic
- 6:50that this, uh, specifically we're in a space focused on this country. Um, again, I'll never
- 6:56do what should be noted. We have a very outsized influence on the IOCs, um, whole process,
- 7:00especially because we have the next Olympics. So while this feels like a very us based conversation
- 7:06we're going to have, it kind of is, it is absolutely a us based conversation. And how
- 7:10did this conversation get so big? Well, if you remember in 2024, we had a very specific
- 7:16Olympic boxing match that led to maybe me losing every last ounce of respect I had for,
- 7:26for multiple people in this industry because they are either ill-informed absolute fucking
- 7:33morons or just evil bigoted little bastards. Um, and I'll never forget it. Sometimes all
- 7:41of the above. And I don't know if one guy already SPN is any of those things, but I
- 7:45do know, I remember a tweet protect our daughters. I'll never fucking forget it. Dan Orlovsky
- 7:52Dan Orlovsky who's having a great week by the way. Um, yeah, it didn't even, we're not
- 7:57even talking about him. We're not even getting to that. It's so stupid that, yeah. Um, here's
- 8:02the thing that's happening is they have decided that they are going to test every single woman
- 8:07who will deign to enter the Olympics. Um, they are going to run a D a gene test on a
- 8:13gene called the SRY gene. Now the scientist who discovered the SRY gene, Andrew Sinclair
- 8:20has in a few years ago, there was a sports organization that started using this type
- 8:25of SRY gene testing for this reason. He wrote an entire op-ed, an entire piece say explaining
- 8:32and laying out why this specific gene should not be used for testing for this specific
- 8:38thing. Because this gene can be present in women without having their testosterone levels,
- 8:45um, meeting any sort of, uh, standard male biological, you know, level they, there is,
- 8:54it is not a gene that can test for, uh, athletic level levels of testosterone. It is essentially
- 9:01like he has said, this is simply like not a way to do this. And there are also all the
- 9:08ramifications of reintroducing, uh, any sort of testing on this front, sort of genetic
- 9:15testing on this front for all women. They are not going to just be cherry picking women
- 9:20to test. They will be testing every single woman. Now we know this has already affected
- 9:26intersex people like castor seminar Naya. We know this has affected Amani Khalif who
- 9:31is just a woman, just a woman, um, regular, you know, whatever, again, like you are who
- 9:38you say you are to me. So if you're, if you say you're a woman, you're a woman, I don't
- 9:41fucking care.
- 9:42I'm telling you right now, I, I, Khalif specifically, when I say the amount of arguments that I
- 9:46got into with people who I barely family members, I had an actual, this was the actual exchange.
- 9:53I saw a post by a family member. I texted him like, take that down. You have no idea
- 9:57what you're talking about. So the response back to me was, so you think it's okay for
- 10:01men to beat up women? And I just said, once again, your entire lining of questioning
- 10:07is based on something that isn't happening. So once again, shut the fuck up. And then
- 10:13he responded with the same thing. And I just responded, my God, I, I always thought you
- 10:18were, were an idiot, but this is off the charts and I, I will not engage with you anymore.
- 10:25I haven't really engaged with this person all that much since just because I was so
- 10:30angry about that particular rhetoric, because I was really scared that Khalif was going
- 10:35to end up going home to Algeria where they really are not good to transgender people
- 10:40and going to get her killed. I was horrified that that's what the future we were about
- 10:44to watch.
- 10:45Well, that's the thing is because a lot of there, there's also the openness of being
- 10:48transgender. There's an openness of being intersex or like, I mean, we're talking about
- 10:52like we're, we're really in invading, um, people's health and, and their bodies in this
- 11:00way. Now the, from the, from the 1960s to the 1990s. So up until 1999, there were various
- 11:07levels of incredibly invasive testing on women's bodies, um, invasive gynecological exams,
- 11:13really traumatizing shit. And then they did eventually start using chromosomal testing
- 11:17on women to do the same thing that they're doing now. They have, they moved from chromosomal
- 11:22testing to SRY. And then that was banned in 1999 because of the outcry from women athletes
- 11:27and scientists, there is no scientific, um, uh, consensus on any sort of gene testing
- 11:37or testing that would tell you specifically whether or not someone is too biologically
- 11:45male to compete as a woman.
- 11:49So there's that aspect of it. If you want to be really, really technical, which a lot
- 11:52of people do, they want to be really technical. So there it is. There's no way to fucking
- 11:55do it. They, they aren't, and this is not certainly not the way, not to mention, even
- 11:58if it was like, even if it was the way, what's the actual barometer, what's the number that
- 12:03makes you enough of a woman to actually perceive. And that's where things get incredibly tricky.
- 12:07And the other part that's incredibly, um, so here's the, like the central question is
- 12:14we know everybody's transphobic. This is the, this is the way they're in road that they
- 12:18It's so embarrassing. It's an inroad that they've taken. They're like, not only can
- 12:22we start to eliminate trans people, which is horrifying. This is like an attempt to
- 12:27genocide trans people by marginalizing them to the point of not being able to exist. There's
- 12:32also, when you start introducing this level of testing, when you try to start solving
- 12:36for a problem that doesn't exist. And by the way, trans women in professional and collegiate
- 12:41level sports is quite literally a problem that does not exist. They can be counted on
- 12:46two hands across all of college and professional sports. That's it. That, and that is on the
- 12:51high end. There are just not a lot of trans women competing in high athletics right now.
- 12:56So we're solving a lot of trans people in the world. So we're going through very, very
- 13:01extreme measures to solve for a non-existent problem. Why would we take such drastic measures
- 13:07as the, you know, the IOC who are, who are now influencing the NCAA who now want to introduce
- 13:11this testing into the NCAA, the right-wing advocates on that front. What is their end
- 13:16game? Their end game is that this gives them an opportunity to invade and test and, and
- 13:23dictate women's bodies across the board. Yep. Right. So this is where, this is really what
- 13:30it comes down to is not only can they be transphobic, not only can they come for the trans community,
- 13:34not only can they lean into the moral panic of that whole thing, but now on top of, you
- 13:39know, losing abortion rights and medical care on top of the lack of maternity healthcare
- 13:44on top of everything else. Now your body is up for scrutiny. If you want to enter professional
- 13:50sports at the Olympic level. And, and I mean, I think we can understand that this is probably
- 13:55going to be spread more widely. That is what people are looking to do. Anytime something
- 14:01like this is going on where you're solving for a non-existent problem, you should be
- 14:04always looking for what exactly their end game is. So then where does it go from there?
- 14:08Who are the women who actually are most likely to be scrutinized and pegged as trans or intersex
- 14:16or whatever else? This is something that happens to black women a lot. High muscle mass women,
- 14:22women who are more masculine presenting just in gender appearance. There's a history in
- 14:27this country and other countries of using this kind of testing against black women and
- 14:32women of color. That's who they'll come for as well. So this is, it's misogyny, it's sexist,
- 14:38it's patriarchy, it's racism. It is fascism. This is, these are not, this is not like a
- 14:43tiny little drop in the bucket decision. It is going to have massive, massive consequences.
- 14:48And this is like, there's a, we, we have now gone back 27 years in time. We, we, we got
- 14:55rid of this in 1999 for a reason. The scientists have not reached consensus since then. It's
- 15:00it's like, this is a horrifying situation. No, no, it is. And what, you know, I forget
- 15:04the horrifying. How about this frustrating aspect of the nature? You know why we're doing
- 15:08any of this? Why any of this is happening? Because one fucking girl tied for fucking
- 15:12fifth. You know, I would love to give Riley Gaines all the credit for B for starting transphobia,
- 15:20but unfortunately transphobia has already existed, but the way it's actually been in
- 15:23the mainstream for the last five years, I mean, that's the thing is there was always
- 15:26going to be the boogeyman. They chose transphobia. They chose their their face of it. And she
- 15:33is certainly a, like a hellish loser who I truly hope nothing but shitty things for.
- 15:40Yep. But like, this is, this is across the board, a very, like an extremely obvious tactic
- 15:48and one that has that too many people have fallen incredibly easily into without understanding
- 15:55the full ramifications. And the reality is of course they don't, because if you are a
- 15:59bigot, you will only see as far as your bigotry will let you see. So it doesn't matter if
- 16:03you're a woman who, whose kid might be, um, be getting a gynecological exams at 12 years
- 16:08old so they can play fucking travel soccer. Because if you think that sounds crazy, no,
- 16:13no, that's fucking stupid. That's what we're currently talking about. That's what, that's,
- 16:19that's what's driving me absolutely nuts. That's what we're talking about. These are
- 16:21all, these are the same people that are constantly talking. Whoa. Yeah. I really want the Epstein
- 16:26files released until of course they're not releasing like, well, there's a reason they're
- 16:29not releasing the Epstein file. All of you are just so full of shit and drives me nuts.
- 16:37Think about what happens. One of you ever, and I mean, we're both like learn it enough.
- 16:42One of you ever heard about a situation where they want to test you for a certain gene to
- 16:47exclude you from something that has gone well, 0.0 that's eugenics straight up. Yep. So
- 16:56that's it. There's no like good, there's no like time where you're like, well, we tested you for
- 17:00this gene to exclude you from this thing and it's going to go really well for everybody involved.
- 17:04Nope. That there, there is a 100% failure rate of that being a good fucking sign. Yep. So I talked
- 17:11about this on my own, on my own content over the weekend, but, um, this is one of the biggest
- 17:15stories in sports. It's one of the biggest stories in society right now. And, um, uh,
- 17:20while it's not going to be covered in mainstream media because God for fucking big, no, can't talk
- 17:25about this. I know it matters a lot. No, we, we have to create us. We have to create that. Cam
- 17:29Simpson is going to go before Fernando. Sorry. That's how little I give a shit about him. I don't
- 17:34even know his first name. I don't care. Like every mainstream sports media has become the biggest
- 17:43clown show. It's really bad humanly possible because there are really important stories out
- 17:48there right now that you will never know about unless you literally go so far out of your way
- 17:53to find them. And by the way, saying something like along the lines of like an ESPN that they
- 17:58don't have, they do like Pablo Torrey pops up in spots. He does some good work. Clinton Yates does
- 18:03some good work, except he's no longer at ESPN. I can't believe that. That sucks. Yeah. That really
- 18:08sucks. And the funny part is that actually takes us directly into headline two, because this is
- 18:12something that I saw, uh, got, you know, got sent the ESPN update immediately felt the smoke explode
- 18:20from my ears like a sociopath. And I thought, you know, let me turn on ESPN. Let me turn on
- 18:25Fox sports seat. Do you think they were talking about this? I didn't know about this until you
- 18:29sent me the article. And by the way, I'm plugged in every single day. I read every news line that
- 18:34I could possibly get my hands on to know things as much as I possibly can. I didn't even know
- 18:39about this until you sent it to me. And when I say, holy shit. Yeah. So, uh, the Florida attorney
- 18:47general who was nominated by, uh, Ron DeSantis and has worked for Ron DeSantis and tried to,
- 18:51and actually ran his presidential campaign. He is calling on the NFL to suspend the Rooney rule
- 19:00or face possible civil rights action. James Oothmeyer sent a letter to NFL commissioner
- 19:06Roger Goodell on Wednesday to express concern that the Rooney rule, which requires teams to
- 19:11interview an external minority candidates for specific positions is this is his quote, blatant
- 19:18race and sex discrimination, and that hiring should be based on merit only NFL fans in Florida.
- 19:24Don't care what color their coach's skin is. They care what color their coach is wearing and that
- 19:30those colors are winning on the football field. The Rooney rule and its offshoots are illegal in
- 19:35Florida. And he, the NFL responded that they acknowledged the letter and the league is
- 19:40reviewing the, the contents of the letter. They said, we believe our policies are consistent
- 19:46with the law and reflect our fairness. So yes, this is, this guy is threatening essentially to
- 19:53take action under the Florida civil rights law because we're interviewing too many African
- 19:59American candidates. That's why, because we're there. He's, he's saying it's racist against
- 20:04whites. That's right. Because the most discriminated against people in America,
- 20:10for some reason, a good amount of people have convinced themselves that it's white Christians.
- 20:14And by the way, percentage wise, how many, uh, how many white guys are the head or the head
- 20:19coaches of NFL teams? Uh, it's like over 90%. Cool. Discrimination against them.
- 20:26Them old whiteys. I am. So I am baffled that there were, we talked about this 10 openings,
- 20:32um, you know, record number of openings, zero black head coaches hired one with Robert Sala,
- 20:37who is a Lebanese American, very much not black, very much not from Africa, very much not
- 20:42the most marginalized group of people in the NFL, very much not the 75% of the players who are
- 20:48underrepresented in the coaching staffs love Robert Sala, but so do I, you know, at the end
- 20:53of the day, I love that there's minority representation. Black Americans are the ones
- 20:59who make up the majority of the fucking labor force. They should make up a much bigger,
- 21:04significant portion of portion of the, and that's why they put the Rooney rule in place was to say,
- 21:09we are clearly a bunch of racist white dudes. We're not getting dudes hired. Let's figure out
- 21:14a way they institute this rule. Now, whether it's performative or not has been a fucking conversation
- 21:19off and on across the course of the history of the Rooney rule existing. There are major issues
- 21:25with the Rooney rule being even enough to combat this because it's clearly not that they, there are
- 21:31sham interviews. There are sham, uh, hiring things that happen where it's like, well, everybody's
- 21:36interviewing, but are you actually interviewing into the faith? Are you actually considering
- 21:39these candidates for these positions? Are you actually doing the work to diversify your front
- 21:43office and your staff enough that these black coaches have an opportunity to make the impression
- 21:47that they need to make? There's all these fucking questions, but at the end of the day, what we know
- 21:50for sure is that there is definitely. And I don't know if there's a human being on in America who
- 21:57could argue this, not an issue with white men getting discriminated against in the NFL coaching
- 22:03ranks. I don't even think mega people think that first African-American head coach was hired two
- 22:10years after I was born in here in Los Angeles, California with my Raiders, our child two years
- 22:18after I was born, I don't know what to tell. Oh. And the number of African-American head coaches
- 22:24after this, I think at the very height at one time, I believe reached almost 20%. I believe
- 22:31there might've been a year or two where there's a slightly higher, but we're back in one season.
- 22:36Right. It it's, I think it's always the highest it got was about the, did it get higher on that?
- 22:41I think at the highest we got was no about the same percentage as it is in like the,
- 22:45in like the general population, not in the NFL. Yeah. So it never really got up. We were up to
- 22:50like eight black head coaches. We got somewhere, but now we're back down again. We, when we had
- 22:54two African-American head coaches, both of which one was fired, the other was stepped down in my
- 23:00Tomlin. Oh, by the way, I mean, are we pretending that my Tomlin shouldn't have been arguably the
- 23:05sexiest free agent available head coach. He doesn't currently have a job now. Maybe he didn't
- 23:09go after a ton of jobs. He did step down because of calls for his job, which again, that, you know,
- 23:16you can argue the merits of why people were even mad at him. But the reality is the one thing we
- 23:23know for sure about the NFL. There's if there is one thing we know for sure, it's that there's
- 23:28plenty of white men coaching. Oh yeah. There are more sets of brothers at the head coaching
- 23:34position right now than there are like black head coaches at this point, like brothers.
- 23:42Wow. So what our guy is saying is like, there's not enough DEI for the white man.
- 23:51It just happens that the Harbaugh's have two of the most qualified football coaches in the history
- 23:55amazing. Isn't that crazy? How that happened in all of America, the Kubiak family is just,
- 24:01they're just cranking out these guys in all of America. There are no other coaches that could
- 24:06possibly be as good. Yep. So no big deal. That's just, it just happens that like this, that an
- 24:13eighth of the NFL is related to each other. It's exhausted. I'm exhausted by it. It's just nausea.
- 24:19You know what? I'm actually mad at the NFL because if I'm Roger Goodell and it's not even that I
- 24:24think Roger Dell is all that good of a guy. I don't, I think he's probably, he's probably evil.
- 24:28He's the commissioner of the NFL for God's sake. Not a big fan of commissioners. Yeah. As far as
- 24:34like character. Yeah. That being said, Roger Goodell is a very powerful man and honestly could
- 24:39be one of the few that could do this. The fact that he didn't immediately make a video of said
- 24:44letter and tear it in front of the camera and sit and turn, send the video back is insane to me
- 24:50because that's what your response should have been. Well, he never will because there is a
- 24:52bunch of owners who he is ostensibly the representative of who would love to never
- 24:58have to have to interview another black. Oh boy. Oh boy. Is that true? You know? So, uh,
- 25:03they're, you know, do I think that the owners are clamoring to get rid of the Rooney rule?
- 25:08Um, not necessarily the word, but they won't be upset if it's gone, be upset if it's gone. The
- 25:14fact that the fact of the matter is what I don't think they like is attorneys general
- 25:20across the country telling them that they will take them to court over civil rights violations.
- 25:26If they tried to enact Florida, Florida, trying to enact anything civil rights is the most ass
- 25:34backwards sentence I've ever heard in my life. You're giving black people too many interviews.
- 25:40I've never seen more. It is so crazy to me how many mediocre white men who look like they didn't
- 25:47quite evolve past the Neanderthal stage are terrified at the idea of qualified black men
- 25:54being in the same room with them or qualified black women or qualified people who are not white
- 25:59and do not have a fucking dick. They're terrified of it because the only reason that they have any
- 26:05of the fucking opportunities that they do is because they are white men. They are underqualified
- 26:11losers across the board. I mean, genuinely, if you made me guess how many white men who have a
- 26:18job right now are underqualified or should not have been hired to the position, I'd be at like,
- 26:23I'd be at like 85%. I was going to say 50 and I might be generous. I would be at 85%. I'm not,
- 26:29I'm not even fucking kidding. And the people who are, they're like the good guys. They're like,
- 26:32you know, fucking nurses and teachers. Like those people probably they're probably, you know,
- 26:35it's just, but it's just insane to me. It's just insane to me that we have just gotten to this
- 26:40point where the people that try to talk about being tough and the people that want to talk
- 26:43about being like masculine are just the softest, thin skin, little baby dick people with just
- 26:50fleshy sacks of where balls should possibly be. Yet they're more concerned with whether or not
- 26:55a woman has balls. It's just, these people are fucking broken. And by the way, most women do
- 27:01have bigger balls than all of you. These are facts. Hopefully the SRY gene can find that out
- 27:06too. And you can all feel more, even more emasculated. You actual pieces of shit.
- 27:12I watched that fucking man. Oh, smear man, a spirit documentary. You guys are bitches. Headline
- 27:18number three. So the NBA is really obsessed with stopping tanking. Okay. This is like a weird new
- 27:27obsession to its credit. I do. You might giggle at it, but I agree with their, this obsession.
- 27:36I actually really do. I know, I know we disagree on this, but I do see a world where this tanking
- 27:42can only become a bigger problem than it currently is. Do you currently think there's a huge parody
- 27:48issue in the NBA? No. Okay. I do think there is an issue. However, when you do have roughly
- 27:5410 to 20% of the team of the league trying to tank to get a better spot,
- 28:00this is where we disagree and we can obviously talk about as we go on.
- 28:04I genuinely just wish people understood that like, there are going to be a certain percentage
- 28:09of teams in every single right. That are just bad. And we have to like relax about it. Like
- 28:15you are idea that every single team that is bad is tanking. That is fair. That is absolutely fair.
- 28:21No, no. I don't think every team is saying, but we can agree that some teams, I would say there's
- 28:26about three teams right now that are like, if, if you're going to tell me they're tanking, I'm just
- 28:31not going to argue with you. My issue is to this point is not necessarily that tanking is the end
- 28:37all be all evils of the world. I honestly see those teams plight and issue because what other
- 28:44recourse do they have other than the tank to try to rebuild their franchise. We just watched the
- 28:49San Antonio Spurs do it. We watched them do it again, 15 years earlier. I'm not saying it's right.
- 28:57I'm saying it's the recourse of what you can do to rebuild your franchise.
- 29:00And also like, I think tanking becomes an issue when you are, um, when I can look at your roster
- 29:09and be like, you guys should win more. Right? Like if I can look at your roster and be like,
- 29:12you guys are tanking. I'm not looking at the Charlotte Hornets. Like, wow. I can't believe
- 29:18you guys keep losing games. I understand why you're losing games. I'm kind of excited about
- 29:22the Charlotte Hornets future a little bit. Absolutely. But like, there's very few times
- 29:27where I'm like, if you guys weren't tanking, you'd be that much better. Like, I think a lot of times
- 29:35we're just looking at teams that are horrible, who aren't trying to win more than they're capable of
- 29:42on a regular day. And so the anti tanking, let's go through some of what they're trying to do here,
- 29:47because this is Adam Silver's new pet project. He is simply horrified by tanking now real quick.
- 29:54I don't know what these new measures are. These were announced today and I haven't had a chance
- 29:59to see any of them. Yes. Yes. So I'm going to read you each. There, there are three proposals.
- 30:05So I'll start with the first, keep in mind, this is a, this is a league that is currently
- 30:10planning to expand. Yes. Okay. By two teams. So they're worried on tanking. This is there.
- 30:16These are what we're looking at in the first proposal,
- 30:2118 teams. So the bottom 10 that missed the tournament and then the eight that qualify
- 30:27for it all will be part of the lottery. The draft lottery, the bottom 10 teams will all have an
- 30:33equal 8% chance of moving up in the lottery with the remaining 20% of the odds being split among
- 30:39the eight play in teams in descending order from 11th through 18th, all 18 spots would be drawn
- 30:46as part of the lottery in that format. Okay. So what, basically what they're saying is we're just
- 30:51expanding the lottery to more teams. Thus we're expanding the lottery to, to teams that make the
- 30:56play, make the play in tournaments. Thus we less odds for the teams that are quote tanking to get
- 31:01said pick and yeah. And incentivizing teams to make the tournament. Okay. Okay. Okay.
- 31:07Okay. A little bit, a little bit muddy, a little bit all over the place. To me, all it feels like
- 31:16is like, I still, so you tell me if, tell me if this is after this first proposal, all I keep
- 31:21thinking is like, so you just, you want bad teams to stay bad because again, you only think this
- 31:26might work if you believe eight teams are tanking. And I just don't eight teams are not tanking.
- 31:34Like they're just not like you're asking me if, if I look at a team right now, that's really bad.
- 31:40Right. And you say like, what's the most games you think they could have won if they were really,
- 31:45really trying. I I'd say they could have won four more games. Like what are we? They're not
- 31:52fucking suddenly playoff teams because they don't have, they don't, I don't know.
- 31:56I will freely listen. I understand. I understand the idea behind the proposal.
- 32:02I don't mind that. Yeah. I don't, I don't hate where they're trying. I see what they're trying
- 32:07to do, but it also to your point, but then Luca and the Lakers went up when the fucking
- 32:14play-in tournament get out and they get like the first overall pick. Watch what happens to NBA. Oh
- 32:18my God. People are going to lose their fucking mind. I will admit, I will admit the play-in
- 32:24tournament this last year, the first year really had me the second year completely didn't have me
- 32:29at all, but they're good teams. Generally they are, but I mean, winning the play-in tournament,
- 32:34getting you in the, it would add some, a little bit of extra Jewish to the play-in tournament to
- 32:40a little, not a ton. Certainly would. That's why I think they're doing it. So I don't hate it.
- 32:44I do think that when it suddenly goes to the fucking Boston Celtics, while they have Jason
- 32:50Tatum and Jalen Brown, suddenly people are a little more fucking upset by this cute little
- 32:57stunt there. Okay. No, see, here's the problem. There is going to be serious problems with each
- 33:03one of these. And I already, we've already found out three big problems with just the first one.
- 33:09Yeah. Even though we both can see the first one being like, I see it, but are we creating five
- 33:16more problems by just solving this problem? Because I think we are. I mean, imagine. All right,
- 33:23let's get to see, we'll go to the second proposal. I'm going to give that one a solid C plus. I'm
- 33:29going to give it a six out of 10. Okay. Yes. Okay. So you're giving more of a D. I'm giving a C.
- 33:35Second proposal, 22 teams, the bottom 10 teams that missed the play-in tournament,
- 33:41the eight that qualify for it, and the four playoff teams that lose in the first round
- 33:46will all be included in the lottery and will be ranked according to their record across
- 33:51two seasons. The last part, weighting teams by their record across the prior two seasons
- 33:58is how the WNBA weights its lottery system. Under that system, each team would need to reach a
- 34:03minimum win total floor in each season to mitigate the need to lose every game possible. For example,
- 34:09if the minimum floor for an individual season was 20 wins, a team that went 14 and 68 would be 20
- 34:15and 62 for lottery purposes. And if a team wins 40 games one season and 20 games the next season,
- 34:21it would go in as 30 wins for the lottery. In this system, the top four spots would be drawn
- 34:27as part of the lottery as it is currently. I quote Chevy Chase. I quote Chevy Chase on Saturday
- 34:33Night Live. I was to believe there was no math. Jesus Christ, that's just complicated for the
- 34:39sake of being complicated. Also, you're telling me a team that gets not, say the Celtics get
- 34:45knocked out in the first round and you're just out of, so now they are in the draft lottery.
- 34:49Give me a fucking break guys. And you're now you're, you've got, so you've got now, what is it?
- 34:5518 teams in the draft lottery. Come on. Just fuck it. How about this? Just put
- 35:01fucking everybody in the draft lottery. Like now we're problem solved, I guess.
- 35:07I actually genuinely at this, like after reading that one, I would say after that one,
- 35:12just get like, just, just hope the NBA finals champions. Don't get a fucking
- 35:17that's it. Like that's honestly based on that one, which is so fucking complicated.
- 35:22The fans will hate it because they won't understand it. I don't understand it now.
- 35:26And I kind of understand it, but what we're really getting is what, like roughly a few
- 35:30teams out from the playoffs. I get knocked out in the first round, which by the way,
- 35:32could just be lucky to draw. Maybe they have an injury happened or maybe they just somehow,
- 35:36what do you accidentally ran into a bus or a team of chance out of nowhere.
- 35:40And then you got the play in tournament, which is roughly going to be some of the same teams already.
- 35:44And then you got the worst teams in the, just fucking put everybody in it. Then like, that's,
- 35:48that's okay. That's stupid. I'm giving that one an F minus. Okay. I'm also giving it a zero out
- 35:54of 10. The third proposal is a five by five method. Sources told sham strata in this one,
- 36:03the same 18 teams from the first concept, the bottom eight, 10 that missed the play-in
- 36:07plus the eight that would make the plan would be entered into the lottery.
- 36:10The teams with the five worst records would then all have the same odds with them descending from
- 36:16there. And there would be a lottery drawing for each of the top five picks in the draft.
- 36:21After those five picks are selected, there would be another lottery drawing for the remaining 13
- 36:26teams. If any of the teams with the five worst records, didn't land one of those top five spots,
- 36:32but like last season, when the teams with the worst with the first, the Utah jazz second,
- 36:39wizards and fourth, New Orleans Pelicans, worst records all moved back to fifth,
- 36:43sixth and seventh respectively. The lowest they could end up in the second lottery drawing would
- 36:47be 10th preventing a bad team from falling too far down the draft board.
- 36:53F minus minus. I actually think this one makes more sense than number two, but I still don't
- 36:57like it, but neither are good. Like, no, how about this? You know what? How about this?
- 37:01How this, how we do it? I know how to solve the problem. We get a fucking turtle. We get a turtle.
- 37:06We put them in a room. We put logos throughout the room. Whatever he steps on first, that gets
- 37:10the first pick. Then know whatever he steps on second, second, but just make it fucking random.
- 37:15You want to solve it? Just make it random. What if we do like a maze runner situation for all the
- 37:20final T bottom four teams, maze runner, whoever makes it out alive, gets the first. Okay. I'm
- 37:28listening. Now I'm thinking owners. You put them in a hunger game situation, give them some bows
- 37:34and arrows. Whoever comes out alive gets the first one. It could be like a paintball nerf gun
- 37:40situation where nobody actually has to die, but replicating the sort of, you know, but if we want
- 37:46to make them bows and arrows, I'm not against it either. He dies. He dies. Listen, if it's good
- 37:51for Drago, it's good for me. Exactly. Everybody knows that I've been saying this as a child. I
- 37:54mean, at this point, let's, let's really ramp up the, the, the stakes because what we're,
- 38:02this feels like Adam Silver's having a mental break. No, this is not good. This sounds honestly,
- 38:07God, this sounds like Adam Silver is like, just quote, quoting the president's fucking
- 38:13truth social at this point. He's having a wall, a wolf of wall. Jesus Christ, dude. He's on the
- 38:19quaaludes. Like, are you fucking okay? Have we checked on Adam Silver? What the fuck is going on?
- 38:25I don't know. Okay, guys, it's very clear. We're not fixing the problem. All we've done,
- 38:32all I've heard now out of Shams's mouth is simply this. We don't know how to solve one problem
- 38:38without creating 20 more. We don't have, we don't know how to solve this problem without potentially
- 38:43giving the Celtics or the Knicks or the Lakers also a chance at a first overall pick, which is
- 38:50like good. Do it then you fucking idiots. Wow. You cause we've seen some crazy odds end up with
- 38:57the first overall pick and like, we saw it last year. That's what they were just saying. They're
- 39:02like, and this is how we prevent that from happening. No, you can't, you can't prevent
- 39:05it from happening. That's the whole point of odds. The lottery. It's a lottery. That's the
- 39:12fucking word. What if we opened it up to more teams to make it more confusing and less likely
- 39:17that a low team gets a good pick. So you're literally, they're like, what if we keep the bad
- 39:23teams bad and force them to be a little bit less bad, but not good. Cause that's all you're going
- 39:30to get. All you are going to get from these shitty teams is that they are maybe slightly
- 39:35less bad, still not good, still not winning anything, still not making the playoffs.
- 39:39And you're taking away their chance at getting better. That is fucking insane. It reminds me of
- 39:43that joke from Jim Jeffries, where he's talking about the second amendment and he was talking
- 39:48about, he's like, well, you know, you can't change the constitution. He's like, it's called an
- 39:53amendment. Do you know what that is? It's an amendment. You amend the constitution. A dictionary
- 40:03can solve some problems today. Fuck man. It's rough, man. Holy hell. Well, it's good to know
- 40:10that the people that are running sports are no smarter than any of you. I hope that's no,
- 40:14I don't, you know what we should do? We should come up with our own way to prevent taking and
- 40:18see if it matches up to, I'm telling you a turtle, just put a turtle on the ground.
- 40:23I watch all these, a dog that with a, with a, with a bouncing ball that goes into a basketball
- 40:29where they race. But I was saying, you know how, you know, you see these when they, when the people
- 40:32are trying to pick their brackets, they have a dog, like a Corgi at the top of the stairs hit
- 40:36and it lands in a basket. Fucking pick them like that. Or how the cats will,
- 40:40they'll swat whatever piece of paper is that. Yep. I'll, I'll watch that. I'll watch that.
- 40:46Watch a cat decide the future of an NBA franchise. I would kill to watch. I would much rather watch
- 40:51a cat determine the future of the NBA at this point that Adam silver. Oh, a hundred percent.
- 40:59Well, so that went about as well as I could have hoped. I'm glad I was able to break all those
- 41:04all those to you individually. Let's move on to media corner. Let's do it. It's time for a little
- 41:12bit of old man, young buck beef. Yeah. George Girvin, the hall of fame basketball player,
- 41:21four time NBA scoring champion told ESPN that he was caught off guard when he learned that
- 41:28bears quarterback, Caleb Williams had attempted to trademark the ice man nickname that Williams
- 41:35during the 2025 season for his late game performances, culminating with the bears,
- 41:39winning their first playoff game in 15 years. Now George Girvin said, I've been the ice man
- 41:43for 40 something years. I never thought anybody would try to trademark it. He kind of knocked me
- 41:49out of the box. Now on March 16th, Caleb Williams holding incorporated filed for trademarks
- 41:56applications with the United States patent and trademark office related to the ice man nickname.
- 42:00According to the trademark application, goods and services related to the name include athletic
- 42:03sporting goods and equipment, water bottles, t-shirts, et cetera. You know, the whole deal.
- 42:07And then on March 20th, George Girvin, after learning about this Girvin interest LLC filed
- 42:13two trademark applications for ice man and ice man 44, the latter of which references the Jersey
- 42:18number Girvin war threat is NBA career. Um, his, uh, 44 has been retired by the Spurs since 1987.
- 42:26Now, uh, before we get into the media part of this, uh, initial thoughts, just your personal
- 42:32thoughts on this very old man, having a beef with Caleb Williams. Now George Girvin, absolutely
- 42:40all time player. He is so old that I never, I don't even think I've seen a highlight. I'm not
- 42:44going to lie. George Girvin, uh, earned that nickname. I believe in the year 1985. Really?
- 42:49I believe so. Wait, he was playing in 85. Yes. He was playing in 85. If I remember correctly,
- 42:54if I remember, I thought he was older than that. Okay. But I might be wrong. I might,
- 42:57I might be very wrong on that year. I might be thinking he's older than he is. He might be,
- 43:02but I know I'm pretty sure he was the eighties, but do me a favor, please Google that. So I want
- 43:07to make sure I'm not speaking out of turn, um, but I believe it was the 1980s specifically.
- 43:13Um, he's currently 73 years old and he retired in from the NBA in 1986 and played in Europe after
- 43:23that. Okay. So he got this nickname in the eighties Iceman, but he was drafted like in like
- 43:29the early seventies. Yeah. But he didn't get the nickname Iceman at that time. I don't believe so.
- 43:33I believe he got, I believe he got it later on during when he was with the, so he was with the
- 43:38Spurs for 11 years. So maybe somewhere in there. I really, I don't want to speak out of turn because
- 43:43I cannot fully only play for the bulls for like a year. Well, here's the deal. Like, here's just
- 43:48the fact the nickname is Iceman. Um, 95 million fucking people have had this nickname. Um, for
- 43:58instance, did I spend, did you, did you call the writers of top gun and complain about Val
- 44:04Kilmer being Iceman? If so, he's probably the most famous Iceman that exists. Did you, did you,
- 44:10um, perhaps call a famous, famous, uncanny X-Men writer and illustrator? Um, I believe it was Jack
- 44:18Kirby who, uh, created Iceman Bobby Drake for the X-Men who has now been a member of the Marvel
- 44:24universe since 1963 does George Kirby, uh, get to come out and, uh, I'm sorry, Jack Kirby gets to
- 44:30come out and sue you all for this trademark. It's a fucking nickname. Yeah. Get the fuck over
- 44:37yourselves. And also you all gave yourselves the fucking nickname. Yeah. Goddamn clowns.
- 44:44I do love I, so I respect someone who gives themselves a nickname and it sticks. I think
- 44:50that that's really funny. I also think it's like way cooler if someone gives you the nickname,
- 44:54like obviously that's what you want. The best thing you want someone to give you a nickname,
- 44:57that's whatever. But like Kobe called himself the black Mamba stuck. Love it.
- 45:01Good job. You gave yourself a nickname. You give yourself the right nickname and it works great,
- 45:04but good news. There were no other black Mambas. Iceman is like, and I will say I ran into an Ice
- 45:10man every three years. Well, and like, if you were going to be mad about this, you should have
- 45:14been mad yet in the 1980s when Maverick or when, um, when Top Gun was a thing. Now my personal
- 45:21issue with it is this, if you wanted to market yourself and, and merchandise Iceman as George
- 45:29Gervin in 2026, why wasn't it already patented? Are you, you weren't selling merch. You weren't
- 45:35selling that because if you had as a celebrity, you would have already had to obtain the patent
- 45:40that would have already happened. And if nothing else, you should be happy. So this is a fuck you
- 45:45bullshit. Like he's just being petty. Yes. And as far as I'm concerned, like you're 73 years old,
- 45:51you click, like nobody is buying George Gervin merch in 2026. Nobody knows that George Gervin is,
- 45:57I mean, like, I know who he is and like people over the age of 50 certainly do, but like,
- 46:04I don't that nobody's like out like buying door. I think you and I could sell more merch at this
- 46:09point than George Gervin. And so like, this is a petty fuck you move. And as soon as you become
- 46:15petty for the sake of being petty, because you're an old man trying to hold onto your legacy now,
- 46:19now I'm okay. Now I'm on Caleb. He's George Gervin. He's a hall of Famer. Cool. It's a
- 46:27basketball player from the 1970s. I don't care about any athletes from the 1970s. That is my
- 46:32point. Cody. I'm agreeing with you. No one gives a shit. It doesn't sound like you are.
- 46:36If you are somebody, I'm going to make this money. If you are somebody that mad dog,
- 46:42Christopher Russo will get on the air and actually named drop. It means no one gives
- 46:45a fuck about you. So yeah, if no one cares, if you're part of a Bill Simmons soliloquy and
- 46:52then no one gives it, no one gives a shit. It's 2026. No one remembers athletes from 10
- 46:58goddamn years ago, let alone 1976. And what your nickname was in the early 80s.
- 47:03And the crazy part is that Caleb Williams is going to find a way to patent and sell his merch.
- 47:12And he's going to make a lot of money from it because he's a superstar in the NFL. And he is
- 47:15actually famous right now. And what he could have done is actually gone to if George Gervin had gone
- 47:22to him and been like, Hey man, like, so this is, here's the deal. I've never merchandised this.
- 47:27I didn't patent it. Is there a way we could cut a deal here? Because like, I'd love to see you
- 47:31shine and succeed, do all that stuff. But also like, this is something I've kind of like, this
- 47:35is me kind of giving up a part of something that like means a lot to me, blah, blah, blah. Have a
- 47:38conversation with the young man. Believe it or not, Caleb Williams is a pretty good fucking kid.
- 47:42He's a really good dude. We've heard nothing, but like, he's a good kid. Why does this always
- 47:50have to turn into like the ownership? And that's how we get into the media part of this. Because
- 47:55the most insufferable old man outside of his own former partner in crime,
- 48:01Skip Bayless decided to take personal offense on behalf of George Gervin. And this is something
- 48:08that drives me nuts. I know you well enough to know there's no way you like this bullshit either.
- 48:13Skip Bayless tweets. I'm a Caleb Williams fan, but I was a much bigger Iceman Gervin fan and I'm
- 48:18offended. Caleb and co are trying to steal George's all-time great nickname. I unleash on today's
- 48:24arena gridiron and that's his podcast. So Caleb Williams responds and basically says like, yeah,
- 48:29also words matter, Skip. Steal, that's insane. So he, the reality is that I have seen this,
- 48:36the only time I see this and you can correct me if I'm wrong. The only time I see someone in media
- 48:42say that they are offended by something athletes are doing to each other like this, like offended
- 48:48on behalf of a professional athlete who doesn't give a fucking single fuck about them is old men.
- 48:54Like what is this whole thing about being offended on behalf? This has nothing to do with you. Why
- 49:01can't these motherfuckers just give their opinion? Say you think it's cheesy. Say you think it's not
- 49:06cool. Tell us what do you and I just did. We just had a whole conversation about what we think about
- 49:12the situation without giving a personal feeling about it because neither one of us knows George
- 49:18Gervin or Caleb Williams. For us to be offended on behalf of people we don't fucking know
- 49:23that in a situation that has nothing to do with us is bizarre. Why do they fucking do it? Cody,
- 49:28tell me, tell me about your old men brethren. I'm 39 years old. No, you're that's what I'm saying.
- 49:35The old men of your kind. Oh, okay. Sorry. Sorry. I am white. That is true. The old men of your,
- 49:41of your kind. Of course you are young and in your prime. I want to make this abundantly clear.
- 49:46Skip Bayless. You know, nothing. Fuck with
- 49:54look close. Stick to the things you're really good at, like your amazing takes on Iran, or,
- 50:01or something about, I don't know, a quarterback for the Cowboys being gay that made you fucking
- 50:08famous. You worthless, worthless fuck. I don't know how you're offended by someone trying to
- 50:14trademark the word Iceman. It's only because you are a petty little child who literally must
- 50:20have read the first, not even paragraph, just the first line of Eric Bischoff's book, where he said,
- 50:28controversy creates cash. You're so desperate to make yourself relevant in a world of your own
- 50:35relevance. You were irrelevant. When I was on the TV show right before you, you are irrelevant after
- 50:42your co-host left and you were made even more irrelevant. You're more irrelevant now than this
- 50:49fucking chair over here. Cause this chair serves a fucking purpose. You're an old man. Shut the
- 50:56fuck up. Also your plastic surgery looks like shit. You know, what's so funny too,
- 51:01trying to stay relevant by taking George Girvin's side, like in a 2026 beef, taking the side of a
- 51:091970s NBA player. That'll get the kids all the clicks. Genuinely insane. You are just stick to
- 51:17Iran. That was a real killer tank. My guy. I don't even know what his take on Iran was. I don't
- 51:23fucking care. Yeah. And it's really funny because both him and Stephen A. Smith are pissing us off.
- 51:29Stephen A. Smith always pisses me off, but this is actually interesting because here's the thing.
- 51:34I fucking can't stand Stephen A. Smith. He is a worthless, worthless, worthless, worthless person.
- 51:40That being said, the only person that has ever been in this industry that might be more worthless
- 51:45is like somehow living rent free in Stephen A. Smith's head and only his head because Jason
- 51:52Whitlock is such a fucking nothing. I don't know what to do with myself. That's the craziest part
- 51:58about this is as much as we all know, Stephen A. Smith at this point is like a shill. He provides
- 52:04absolutely nothing to the sports media landscape. There is nothing of value to pull from Stephen A.
- 52:10Smith and media anymore. However, there was a time for a while where I understood exactly where
- 52:16his importance in the industry was. I understood where he came from and how he like actually helped
- 52:21push sports media into a direction that became quite, you know, kind of like awful trailblazing,
- 52:27but like regardless of how you feel about it, there was, they ushered in the debate show era,
- 52:33all this stuff. Yes. The worst thing that's ever happened to all of us. And at one point it was a,
- 52:38he was a actual, you know, writer and porter as Skip was. Now here's the thing.
- 52:45Both as bad as we hate Stephen A. Smith, like Jason Whitlock is so much worse. It's like a,
- 52:52like a bad person. It's just a fat piece of shit. No, it's not. No, it's not just that. No,
- 52:58no. It's not just that he's unsettling to be around in a way that can only be described by
- 53:04people who've been in a room with him. I sadly have, um, as if I, it's not, and you are not a
- 53:10woman. And I will tell you right now, it's, it's different when you are a woman to be around someone
- 53:17like Jason Whitlock. And I'm not saying he even said anything specific to me. He doesn't need to,
- 53:24and everybody knows it. So, um, like when, when I'm sure you remember when cam Newton was on joy,
- 53:30Taylor's podcast, it went viral and there was a, uh, he asked her about Jason Whitlock, uh,
- 53:36they, or she was on his podcast, however it went, they were on each other's podcast in some capacity.
- 53:40And, um, cause he had made a comment about how joy was distracting to work with because she always
- 53:46had her boobs out and like, what was he supposed to do? And blah, blah, blah. Right. In fairness,
- 53:49I was always distracted by Jason Whitlock cause he always had his boobs out as well. So that was
- 53:54distracting. And I love joy. Like, like we are very friendly. Like that's a colleague that I
- 54:01really care. I've never met joy. And everyone that I know and trust that does know joy only
- 54:06says the nicest possible things about her. Yeah. But I truly don't know. But I know she's great.
- 54:12And, um, and her response was essentially like the best thing ever, which was like,
- 54:17yeah, I don't fucking, I would never give that man the time of day to even have this conversation.
- 54:22And that's because there is nothing to say other than like, he's a, he's an unsettling person to
- 54:26be around and, um, and him continue his, his he's remained in the level of relevance that he even
- 54:34clings onto because people feel the need to repeatedly disprove his bullshit. Right. Like,
- 54:41it's like him and Sage steel, they'd spout their MAGA bullshit. They spout their far right.
- 54:46Christian bullshit. They've fought, they spout there. And, and there's something about that,
- 54:50that irks people in the sports media space to the point where they engage with it. So Cam Newton,
- 54:56our, our beloved rocket scientist, Cam Newton, let's all calm down with that. Um,
- 55:00is, is gonna, is gonna engage with him. I'm gonna say you're Cam Newton on this one.
- 55:04This is, uh, this is really irking Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Clark specifically.
- 55:10And I, I'm sorry, before you get into it, please don't, we can't shit talk Ryan Clark. He's already
- 55:14yelled at me on threads before. Oh, I'm good. I'll shit talk Ryan Clark. But no, no, no. I just want
- 55:20to say to their credit, I understand why these two are irked by it. Oh yes. So I've actually,
- 55:30I can't believe I'm saying this. I actually might be on their side. Okay. Let's get to it. That's
- 55:35why we got to go through it. Right? No, I feel you. So, so Stephen A. Smith there, uh, and Ryan
- 55:40Clark, both beefing with Cam Newton over this decision to interview Whitlock. Um, who is the,
- 55:44apparently this is how they described it. They described it as the arch rival of, of Stephen
- 55:48A. Smith. Um, and, uh, for some reason Smith can't quit Jason Whitlock, uh, who, which keeps
- 55:56the largely forgotten man in the headlines and makes him relevant, which is like, this is the
- 55:59whole thing with Stephen A. Smith is like, if you just stop talking about Jason Whitlock, he would
- 56:03never like, no one fucking cares. So, uh, Ryan Clark also jumped on this as well. And, um, after,
- 56:09after Cam decided he was going to go ahead with this because, uh, Stephen A. Smith is taking
- 56:13personally because Cam Newton's on first take. Okay. Uh, Ryan Clark says, if someone shows you
- 56:17love has you on their show twice a week, at least you don't bring his known enemy on your show and
- 56:22allow your guests to talk shit about that person. That's not G at all. Loyalty is at a minimum these
- 56:28days. So, uh, Ryan Clark, uh, has had some of the like best, like, um, uh, NFL sort of live take
- 56:39moments in the last couple of years. And then also is genuinely like turning into this weird sort of
- 56:47threads, Twitter troll. I think he's insufferable as fuck. That's not what I said. We're not talking
- 56:53about his disposition. I'm telling you point blank. There was one human being on television
- 56:58that understood how to handle DeMar Hamlin. And it was Ryan Clark moment live. He was like the only
- 57:04person who understood the moment and like really handled it. He absolutely has a great connection
- 57:09with players and understanding of things. And he is also somebody who I've seen admit that they
- 57:13were wrong and apologize live on camera several times. He also seems to sort of continue to get
- 57:20himself into beefs. So I will always give someone credit when they are clearly willing to like call
- 57:25themselves to task. I also think he's like a lot lately and that's fine because people think I'm a
- 57:30lot sometimes. So it is what it is. Um, so cam in response to all of this said, I will always do me
- 57:37and continue to do me. And then everybody who tried to change me, it's not going to happen
- 57:40because I am very secure and understand who I want for me. He then, uh, addressed Clark directly.
- 57:46So you mean to tell me that you're going to tell me who I can and can't have on my platform. This
- 57:51was never about Jason Whitlock and Stephen, a Smith. The reason why I decided to bring Jason,
- 57:55Jason Whitlock on fourth and one was because Jason Whitlock has strong takes that I wanted to talk
- 57:59man to man about and what better way to ease all that than through conversation. It's my job as a
- 58:04creator to bring people together, to have an uncomfortable conversation. He shared his respect
- 58:08and appreciation for Clark as a fellow content creator and former athlete who opened doors for
- 58:13him and others. And he said, one thing that's not going to happen is to, uh, is a puppet string
- 58:19attached to my back. Every single coach player that I've ever played with do I don't know what
- 58:25that means. I'm going to do things out how I want to do them respectfully. So that's kind of where
- 58:30it ended, which is like, I respect you guys, but I'm going to do this. It is what it is. I don't
- 58:34know why you feel like you're going to control this. I appreciate the fact that you guys have
- 58:37ushered me into this and you've mentored me. I will say before you get into your opinion,
- 58:43I just want to remind people that Cam Newton's one of the most famous football players of the
- 58:4921st century. He did not need Ryan Clark and Stephen A. Smith to get him on television. So
- 58:56I, I do think having mentorship and people who are willing to take you under their wing is,
- 59:00is great. Okay. He could have gotten on TV at any single moment. He's Cam Newton.
- 59:04You're giving Brian Clark a lot of credit for his mentorship. Right. Uh, I am not,
- 59:10and it is, you do need some level of mentorship heading into television. I don't think so,
- 59:14but I also watch Ryan Clark on television and I, anyone that wants his mentorship, that's,
- 59:19that's on them. I actually disagree. I don't, you're a bar for, for TV, for TV athletes needs
- 59:26to lower. Like it just genuinely does. Like, who do you actually think does a good job breaking
- 59:30down the NFL? Just for, just for some, as a former athlete, just, um, I really do like
- 59:36work. I think he does a pretty good job. Like this is how I know you're fucking crazy. Just
- 59:39sure. It doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about for 10 years. Breakdown of the actual game
- 59:43play by play. He's fantastic. Uh, Schwartz does a good job, even though he's not in the mainstream
- 59:48very much these days, but we're going mainstream people simply out of, are we just looking at this
- 59:54pretty mainstream where he was for a while? He was, he's a little bit, a little taken aback,
- 59:56but he's more just doing more play by play right now. Yeah. Play by play is like one thing. Um,
- 1:00:00somebody who's just like yakking about the game because like realistically there's only so many
- 1:00:06count who has been put in front of me, unfortunately. And who's being put in front
- 1:00:09of me is Dan Orlovsky and, and, and Clark. Yeah. So I'm not getting as far as former
- 1:00:16players are concerned. Uh, like any of the quarterbacks you give us to talk about Ryan
- 1:00:19Fitzpatrick. Oh no, no. Ryan Fitzpatrick is doing the magic thing. It's not, it's not great.
- 1:00:25Sherman same thing. I'm actually going to go a step further here. I can't think of anyone. I
- 1:00:32actually starting to think of X players that are actually doing a really great job in the NFL side.
- 1:00:36And part of that is because of what we've talked about with media in general is that we're just
- 1:00:39whittling ourselves down to like hot take bullshit. And so if you're going to whittle,
- 1:00:44if you're going to whittle shit down to hot take bullshit, it's what you're going to end up feeding
- 1:00:47into. And that's where you lead at formerly thoughtful. Um, like, because if you go back
- 1:00:52a few years, Ryan Clark was somebody who was really good at breaking down the game and being
- 1:00:56thoughtful about the cultural stuff. He does, he does a lot of talking about like black culture
- 1:01:01and all that stuff, which I think is really important on his podcast. And so like, there's a,
- 1:01:05but like, realistically, there's just not a lot of people doing it any better. And Cam Newton
- 1:01:10is bombastic and over the top. No, but he's the same thing though. Everybody else is doing,
- 1:01:16but this is the thing, like, here's the ultimate thing. I don't give a shit about almost any of
- 1:01:21this because none of these people have any information about anything about sports or
- 1:01:26breakdowns that they even care to share with us all that much. Cam Newton has both Cam Newton and
- 1:01:31Ryan Clark will give you information about the game that you don't understand. Sure. If, if,
- 1:01:35if they're prompted to on something, that's not on any of these television shows, they just don't
- 1:01:39do that. I've watched, it's just the same shit. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's NFL season stuff. It's
- 1:01:46definitely not like on first take really very often, but like, if you see them doing the NFL,
- 1:01:49like the, the football actual segments on ESPN or whatever else during the season,
- 1:01:55they'll break down the game, which is interesting. But again, we don't get a lot of that. We get a
- 1:01:58lot of the hot take shit. We get all the other shit. That's the shit that this is the shit,
- 1:02:02this squabbling shit we're getting. Also I have, I do take umbrage on the Ryan Clark,
- 1:02:07the guy that's letting you on his show. Fuck off. Like, like, so you, so you're, you're moving away
- 1:02:12from taking Ryan Clark side. I've never really had his side. I just kind of, if I have to pick a side,
- 1:02:19if I have no fucking choice done to my head, I have to pick one of these dog shit.
- 1:02:28You're telling me I have to take Ryan Clark and Stephen A. Smith being upset at cam for interviews,
- 1:02:33viewing the most repulsive fuck in the world. Then I guess I'm on Ryan Clark's side,
- 1:02:39but that's not, that's like saying whose side were you on in world war II, Stalin or Hitler?
- 1:02:44Well, I had no real choice to be on Stalin side on this one. Italian. Oh no. Uh, Mussolini. That's
- 1:02:50my side. There was no winning. No, it's bad. It's bad news bears all around. I do. I do think that
- 1:02:58like, um, there is, I, I feel like I wish people would stop. I get tired of people just expecting
- 1:03:09Cam Newton to be anything but what he is. Cam doesn't like come for people. No, he just is cam.
- 1:03:17That being said, he's a kind of a joke. He's misogynistic. He's sexist as fuck. By the way,
- 1:03:22Ryan Clark SAS have no problem with him being misogynistic as all hell on his nose. No,
- 1:03:27no. Just as long as you don't say something bad about Stephen. But if he talks to Jason Whitlock,
- 1:03:33that's where they draw the line. Like camp saying some absurd shit to about in two women on his
- 1:03:38podcast regularly. And they're like, but why are you talking to Jason? Can we break this down
- 1:03:43quicker? Are we pretend, why is Ryan Clark pretending that Stephen A. Smith is respected
- 1:03:47by athletes? He's not like, that's the other thing. Like, I don't know anyone that respects
- 1:03:50Stephen A. Smith, but not only in the sports industry, but athletes, there's not one athlete
- 1:03:54I've ever met. Not one that even that's on television with him that has a single nice
- 1:03:59thing to say about him. So I don't know what the fuck we're talking about under the bus every
- 1:04:03single time. So I don't, I truly do not comprehend what the fuck Ryan Clark's talking about. That
- 1:04:10being said, fuck cam Newton for doing that. But also I don't like anyone in this situation. I
- 1:04:17hope you all fucking kill each other. I can't find it in my heart. And like, I don't know what it is.
- 1:04:22I cannot find it in my heart to give a fuck, to be, to, to feign, I guess, to feign anger that
- 1:04:31cam Newton's interviewing Jason Whitlock. It's like the least surprising thing to me. Like I, I,
- 1:04:36I have a standard of what I expect from cam Newton. And what are you expecting me to push back on?
- 1:04:42Like, that's the other thing. What, what are you expecting cam Newton? Like Ryan Clark? This is my
- 1:04:47question for Ryan Clark. Just realistically, not even like angry, you know, cam Newton, you, you,
- 1:04:52you're right now spouting up. He says sexist shit that you go along with. He says stupid shit that
- 1:04:56you go along with. What about cam Newton and your mentorship? You and SAS just amazing mentorship
- 1:05:05made you believe he was going to give an interview and push back on fucking anything.
- 1:05:11That's my question. Like I'm baffled by your guys's view of the world that you thought this
- 1:05:18was real. And I like appreciate that Ryan Clark himself on his podcast pushes back. I appreciate
- 1:05:24that he is capable of doing that. I am so impressed that Ryan Clark had the kind of
- 1:05:28fucking career that he had, where he took the amount of hits that he had and still works his
- 1:05:33ass off every single day. Like I genuinely respect for him as a football player, the same way I
- 1:05:37respect cam by the way, for pushing his body to an extreme in that game for like both of these guys
- 1:05:44kind of got, took an absolute beating in the league. And like, it's just like exhausting.
- 1:05:48I don't care. I think cam Newton got so much unnecessary hate as a football player,
- 1:05:56that I really have zero interest in aligning myself with Stephen a Smith to attack him at
- 1:06:01this point. Now, if he now, when cam's best ever, and this has been going back since I was a writer
- 1:06:07for USA today and all these, I will call cam Newton on his shit. Every time the misogyny,
- 1:06:13the bullshit, he, the shit he's, he went to like a school full of children and said misogynist
- 1:06:17shit. Like this guy is a real pain in my ass. When it comes to that, I also feel like at some
- 1:06:25point we need to just stop acting like we expect anything different from these people than what
- 1:06:33they're capable of giving us. I also would rather watch cam Newton talk about football
- 1:06:38than Ryan Fitzpatrick who played for 49 different NFL teams, then fucking, uh, one of the hassle
- 1:06:45backs, whatever, when they plan to hand me at any given fucking moment, like, no, we, the people
- 1:06:52you're rolling out, I don't give a fuck. Like, so if you're going to, if you're going to give me
- 1:06:56former quarterbacks talking about football, you got Tom Brady in the booth. You got paid Manning
- 1:07:00on the Manning cast. Let me hear from, let him talk about football. You guys are the ones who
- 1:07:06constantly have him talking about bullshit. He shouldn't be fucking talking about. So anyways,
- 1:07:12that's, that's, that, that is that in media corner, we decided that we are taking no one
- 1:07:18side. We hate everything involved. I took my side reluctantly. No, you did. You made me choose a
- 1:07:24side. You took a side and I took campsite again, which is horrifying because I did. I'm not going
- 1:07:30to lie to you based on this whole conversation. I had not outside of outside. I don't like Ryan
- 1:07:35Clark. I mean, I don't like Ryan Clark coming for him and Stephen Smith coming for him over
- 1:07:40something. That's like, that I agree with. That's like, we should just expect, but I hate
- 1:07:45loyalty is a fucking wild thing to say in print, by the way. And I hate Jason Whitlock and I hate
- 1:07:50that he gets these, these, I don't particularly like anyone involved. I hate two of them and I
- 1:07:58don't really care about the other two. And you can figure out who this is pretty easily. You hate
- 1:08:03SAS and Jason Whitlock. If they both, if, if, if I said this at the radio row sitting on stage
- 1:08:10with Michelle Beatle while we were doing our show and we looked over there and we saw mad dog
- 1:08:15at talking with Stephen A and we looked over there, we see just like other people throughout
- 1:08:19the industry. And I just said to Michelle on, I think it was even on the air, Mike, Michelle,
- 1:08:23just looking at this room of people, all these self-important nonsensical people who truly know
- 1:08:28nothing. If a comment hit this building right now, us as a society, we wouldn't lose much.
- 1:08:34We'd be better off. We might be better. Yeah. But who, who would debate about Iran on first take?
- 1:08:44Got me there. Let's get skip out here. Let's let's dust off that old fucking 79 year old,
- 1:08:49who knows so much someday we're going to, you know, this, by the way, I hate to break this to
- 1:08:54you, but someday we're going to get the insufferable skip Bayless SAS reunion. And it's,
- 1:09:01well, it's nice that you say that, you know, what I hope for is that the world ends first.
- 1:09:06Okay. Listen, I'm sorry. I know we said on Monday, we would get to the bloody sock. We'll
- 1:09:09get to the bloody sock on Monday. We do have a comprehensive breakdown. It's specifically me.
- 1:09:16I have DNA evidence that the bloody sock was indeed marinara. And I'm looking forward to
- 1:09:21presenting my point and we will get to that on Monday. I mean, I don't think we're going to get
- 1:09:26to it on Monday because I don't believe that you actually have this evidence. And I think you're
- 1:09:30going to continue stalling and I'm not going to lie. I like at this point, I'm starting to take
- 1:09:35it personally that you won't just take me on fully on this topic. I think you're afraid of this. I
- 1:09:40think you're afraid of, of me, of my expertise. I think, you know, how much I know about baseball
- 1:09:44in comparison to you as a professional baseball player, you don't want to get embarrassed by
- 1:09:48somebody who's just a fan. And I think you're afraid of that. We will discuss this on Monday,
- 1:09:53but until then, just so you can wet the palette, like share and subscribe right here to this show,
- 1:09:58wherever you get your podcasts. And of course, most importantly, right here on YouTube. And
