- 0:02Speaker 1: FT Live off-season mode.
- 0:05Speaker 2: They did it.
- 0:05Speaker 1: The Milwaukee Brewers.
- 0:07Speaker 3: I got my Brewers territory, Brewer territory shirt on today.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Brewers Uni for Kratz. We did a post-game show last
- 0:13Speaker 3: night that was great, so I encourage anyone that wants
- 0:15Speaker 3: more on the instant reaction last night.
- 0:18Speaker 1: To check it out. So we'll, of course, start with AJ.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Actually, AJ, before we get into the game, the team,
- 0:23Speaker 3: the whole thing, I feel like this one would hit
- 0:26Speaker 3: home with you since you work for Fox, too. The
- 0:29Speaker 3: way that they constructed the Bob Euchre calls, was chills
- 0:33Speaker 3: that was really really well done it can be tricky
- 0:37Speaker 3: to do that with someone that passed away and they
- 0:39Speaker 3: just nailed it.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Yeah I mean everyone everyone around the Brewers crowd you
- 0:46Speaker 4: know you I was around you a little bit whenever
- 0:48Speaker 4: I'd go to Milwaukee and do a game and he
- 0:50Speaker 4: was the best and to be able to have him
- 0:53Speaker 4: be a small piece of this for the Brewers was
- 0:55Speaker 4: huge for the Brewers community the Brewers fan base the
- 0:58Speaker 4: Brewers announcers the Fox announcers Pat Murphy and Everyone was
- 1:03Speaker 4: involved in this, and it was really, really special to
- 1:05Speaker 4: see them do that. And if you're a Brewers fan,
- 1:07Speaker 4: you couldn't be any prouder than the way they handled this.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 3: And we're going to do a lot of Brewers talk
- 1:12Speaker 3: today on FT. So before we start, trivia question, and
- 1:17Speaker 3: anyone listening right now can play along. I'll give you
- 1:19Speaker 3: a few seconds to react. There are now four teams
- 1:23Speaker 3: in Major League Baseball out of 30 that have never
- 1:26Speaker 3: experienced a World Series title.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Four franchises.
- 1:30Speaker 2: So.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Let's count to five so everyone else can think. That's
- 1:33Speaker 1: from home. One, two, three, four, five. All right, let's
- 1:38Speaker 1: go back and forth. AJ, you're up first.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Well, the easiest one is the Rays. They just played
- 1:43Speaker 4: in it.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Boom. Kratz.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Mariners.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:48Speaker 6: AJ.
- 1:49Speaker 4: I'm going to leave Kratz the simple one. I'm going
- 1:53Speaker 4: to go Padres have never won one.
- 1:55Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:57Speaker 1: What's the simple one?
- 1:59Speaker 2: The simple one is the team that doesn't even– Want
- 2:01Speaker 2: to win one. All he wants is a salary cap.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Old Dick Monfort and the Rockies. Sorry, Rockies fans. That
- 2:07Speaker 2: is not a knock on Rockies fans. We love you.
- 2:10Speaker 2: You come out. Maybe the org needs to shift their
- 2:15Speaker 2: focus and stop whining and complaining.
- 2:19Speaker 3: There should be no more whining and complaining when you
- 2:20Speaker 3: see what the Brewers just did. They just steamrolled the
- 2:24Speaker 3: entire league all year and all season long.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It's so tough. We can't pitch. We can't recover.
- 2:34Speaker 1: They've been to the World Series, too. It's not like
- 2:37Speaker 1: they've never won. There's one team.
- 2:40Speaker 4: It's never been.
- 2:41Speaker 1: To the World Series?
- 2:44Speaker 2: The Seaman.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 1: The Mariners.
- 2:47Speaker 3: They were close last year. Damn, last year had so
- 2:49Speaker 3: many close moments. This year, the Brewers never made it close.
- 2:54Speaker 3: The last two rounds just now, there were some close games,
- 2:58Speaker 3: but they were not close series results last year, the
- 3:01Speaker 3: amount of moments that could have literally swayed who won
- 3:04Speaker 3: the world series with the world series. And then even
- 3:08Speaker 3: the ALCS wild. So congrats to the brewers. Let's get
- 3:12Speaker 3: into the brewers right now. Full count is fueled by marathon.
- 3:24Speaker 3: So what did we think about this one? AJ game five.
- 3:28Speaker 3: We were like, how are the Rays going to piece
- 3:29Speaker 3: this together? Well, Drew Rasmussen kept them in the game
- 3:32Speaker 3: for four innings.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Didn't matter how they pieced the pitching together. They still
- 3:36Speaker 4: can't hit. That has been the biggest flaw. They couldn't
- 3:38Speaker 4: hit the Brewers. They never hit the Brewers. Even the
- 3:40Speaker 4: game they won, they needed errors to score four runs.
- 3:43Speaker 4: They never, ever were able to figure out the Brewers
- 3:45Speaker 4: pitching step. Listen, piecing it together was great. I mean,
- 3:48Speaker 4: you know, to hold them to four runs, Rasmussen pitched
- 3:52Speaker 4: fairly well. Kelly came in. I mean, all the same
- 3:56Speaker 4: kind of Clevenger, who was kind of nonexistent. He did fine.
- 3:59Speaker 4: The problem is they couldn't score any runs. So the
- 4:01Speaker 4: pitching was fine. It was just they couldn't score. And
- 4:04Speaker 4: Miz came out and Miz was just chucking heaters at them. Heater, heater, heater, heater, heater,
- 4:09Speaker 4: and nobody could hit it. So it was fun to watch.
- 4:12Speaker 4: If you're a Brewers fan with the race, it's kind
- 4:14Speaker 4: of the story of the whole World Series. They couldn't hit.
- 4:17Speaker 4: They couldn't figure out a way to score any runs.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I was so impressed with Rasmussen coming out there throwing
- 4:22Speaker 2: like he did. And as much as I said it
- 4:26Speaker 2: before game one, I didn't think they should have gone
- 4:28Speaker 2: the route that they did. But the fact that Nick
- 4:31Speaker 2: Martinez came back in the game they won in game
- 4:33Speaker 2: four and gave them those two solid innings. The fact
- 4:37Speaker 2: that Rasmussen came out and like, I just, I have
- 4:42Speaker 2: ultra respect for dudes that are put in uncomfortable situations.
- 4:46Speaker 2: He's had injuries, and for him to come out and say,
- 4:50Speaker 2: you know what, I got it. Give me the ball.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Don't take it away. At some point, he had to
- 4:54Speaker 2: take it away, but....
- 5:00Speaker 3: You don't need homers to win a World Series title.
- 5:04Speaker 3: There were four in the entire fall classic.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Four.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Three from Milwaukee, although none from their one through six hitters.
- 5:14Speaker 4: You know what you need, Scott? You need dudes who
- 5:17Speaker 4: have whatever you want to call them, guts that know
- 5:22Speaker 4: how to get hits in big situations. That know how
- 5:25Speaker 4: to get hits in big situations. That's it for me.
- 5:28Speaker 4: You got to have guys that aren't afraid of the moment.
- 5:30Speaker 4: They stick to their game plan in the moment. They
- 5:32Speaker 4: don't get outside of themselves and they are what they
- 5:35Speaker 4: are and they know what they are and they're doing
- 5:37Speaker 4: it to the best of their ability. So I, I,
- 5:40Speaker 4: I love the way that the Milwaukee Brewers played. I
- 5:43Speaker 4: love the way the Rays played. But the Brewers are
- 5:46Speaker 4: unbelievable at knowing what they're good at and being not
- 5:49Speaker 4: only great at it, but amazing at it.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Sarah Langs posted how it was the fewest home
- 5:57Speaker 3: runs that we'd seen in a while.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I'm looking for it on the fly here. I had it,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and then I lost. Oh, here it is. Jorge Castillo, actually,
- 6:05Speaker 1: from ESPN. The four combined home runs in this World
- 6:07Speaker 1: Series were the fewest in a World Series since 1985
- 6:11Speaker 1: when the Royals and Cardinals combined for four home runs.
- 6:16Speaker 2: So do we think that the teams that just build
- 6:19Speaker 2: all-around power are at home like, oh, if we had
- 6:22Speaker 2: a shot at that series, we could have beaten them?
- 6:25Speaker 2: Do you think they're so entrenched in their thought process
- 6:30Speaker 2: of what a home run means and they missed the
- 6:33Speaker 2: entire series?
- 6:36Speaker 1: You know what? It's funny.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I actually think some teams are bonkers enough to believe
- 6:42Speaker 3: that their process would have beaten the Brewers' process.
- 6:46Speaker 7: Yes.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yep.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I agree.
- 6:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 1: It's stupid, but good for them. And guess what?
- 6:54Speaker 3: Milwaukee is hoping, AJ, that they continue to think that way.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Nobody's saying home runs don't matter. But some of the
- 7:02Speaker 3: obsessions that have grown in the sport have certainly– caused
- 7:05Speaker 3: problems for teams and have allowed other teams to take
- 7:09Speaker 3: pure advantage of what's going on here. Can we show,
- 7:12Speaker 3: and then we'll get to Murph and all his fun.
- 7:14Speaker 3: The David Adler tweet, a third of the Brewers hits
- 7:17Speaker 3: in the world series went to the opposite field. It's
- 7:20Speaker 3: the highest percentage of any team in the pitch tracking era.
- 7:23Speaker 3: And that started in 2008.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:27Speaker 4: A third.
- 7:28Speaker 3: And this is, this is perfect timing to AJ. Cause
- 7:31Speaker 3: around that time period, maybe a little bit later than that,
- 7:34Speaker 3: is when the obsession began, right? Pulled fly ball contact
- 7:39Speaker 3: is the only way to win.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Really? Three true outcomes, Scott. That was the thing, right?
- 7:44Speaker 4: That was the money ball. Walk and hit home runs.
- 7:47Speaker 4: We don't bunt. We don't steal bases. Now the team
- 7:50Speaker 4: that won just showed you that, listen, home runs are
- 7:54Speaker 4: always going to be important. But if you have nine
- 7:57Speaker 4: guys that are just trying to hit home runs and
- 7:58Speaker 4: not doing other things, we've seen it with some teams.
- 8:00Speaker 4: It's hard to String together offense, and here you go.
- 8:04Speaker 4: I mean, the Brewers, wow, the Brewers are just good.
- 8:08Speaker 4: The Brewers were the best team. I mean, we can't
- 8:10Speaker 4: say it enough. The Brewers were just the best team.
- 8:13Speaker 4: And to go the other way, again, this goes back
- 8:15Speaker 4: to what I just said. They knew what they were
- 8:17Speaker 4: good at, and they just became great at it. And
- 8:20Speaker 4: they knew their role from Murph to every coach on
- 8:24Speaker 4: that staff just drilled in them, hey, do what you
- 8:26Speaker 4: do and do it really well. And that's what the
- 8:28Speaker 4: Brewers have done from defense to pitching to offensively hey
- 8:32Speaker 4: you're not a home run hitter you it's okay you
- 8:35Speaker 4: know cooper pratt to not be a 30 you don't
- 8:38Speaker 4: have to be like i'm going to use this example
- 8:40Speaker 4: and i and i we talked about this a million
- 8:42Speaker 4: times anthony volpe okay that yankees like anthony volpe's got
- 8:46Speaker 4: to be a 30 home run guy how about being
- 8:48Speaker 4: a 15 home run guy and hitting 300 and getting
- 8:50Speaker 4: on base and stealing 30 to 40 bases a year
- 8:53Speaker 4: doing it that way but because certain teams and i'm
- 8:56Speaker 4: just using that because we've talked about anthony volpe so
- 8:58Speaker 4: many times not just picking on the yankees but You've
- 9:01Speaker 4: got to figure out what you are. I mean, look
- 9:03Speaker 4: at the Rays. Chandler Simpson's not going to hit a
- 9:04Speaker 4: home run, but he was really good in this series.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Why?
- 9:06Speaker 4: Because he hit the ball from line to line. He
- 9:08Speaker 4: got on base, and he caused pressure when he got
- 9:10Speaker 4: on base. That's what the Brewers have done. They figured out, like,
- 9:13Speaker 4: Christian Yelich, he was hitting third for a lot of
- 9:15Speaker 4: the series. I don't know if he could hit a
- 9:16Speaker 4: home run to left center, especially in the trot. But
- 9:20Speaker 4: you know what he did? He got his hits. He
- 9:21Speaker 4: went to the other way. He drove in runs. They
- 9:23Speaker 4: just knew what they were good at, and they were
- 9:25Speaker 4: great at it.
- 9:27Speaker 6: Okay, Kratzy, here we are again, man. How many times
- 9:29Speaker 6: do we have to tell people to get the best
- 9:31Speaker 6: tickets in the house? Where do we got to go?
- 9:33Speaker 6: We got to go to SeatGeek. It's been worth it
- 9:36Speaker 6: so many times, so many years. The green light will
- 9:39Speaker 6: let you know when it is time to go and
- 9:42Speaker 6: the best seats available. The red will let you know
- 9:44Speaker 6: if it's not the best. Kratzy, tell them how easy
- 9:46Speaker 6: it is.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Todd, I know it's easy, but I'm looking for the
- 9:49Speaker 2: deals because that's what I do. Even so much, like
- 9:53Speaker 2: we're getting such a good deal. I want you to
- 9:55Speaker 2: come across the river. and we'll go to a Sixers
- 9:57Speaker 2: game together. I don't know where to sit in the stadium.
- 10:00Speaker 2: but it'll let me know that it's a perfect view
- 10:03Speaker 2: because I'm not a big NBA fan, but I got
- 10:06Speaker 2: to go see the Sixers play with LeBron and the boys.
- 10:09Speaker 4: And of course I have a code for you all.
- 10:10Speaker 6: You can use code TERRITORY10 for 10% off your next
- 10:13Speaker 6: set of tickets at SeatGeek. That's 10% of all tickets
- 10:17Speaker 6: with promo code TERRITORY10. Make sure you click the link
- 10:20Speaker 6: in the description to download the app and have the
- 10:23Speaker 6: code automatically added to your account so you can use
- 10:26Speaker 6: it later.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Hey, that's a good segue for me because Pat Murphy
- 10:31Speaker 3: had a little chat with Jake Bowers on the fields.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And here's the quote that was caught. You're posting it.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You're going to be a rich bleeper. But just remember,
- 10:44Speaker 1: when you were on.
- 10:45Speaker 3: That horse bleep Yankees team and you guys were all
- 10:48Speaker 3: playing for yourself, Just remember, this is the way we
- 10:51Speaker 3: used to do it.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah. That's good.
- 11:00Speaker 3: When you win a World Series, yeah, you shoot your
- 11:02Speaker 3: shots like that after, right? A lot of people hold
- 11:05Speaker 3: a lot of things back, and then when one team
- 11:06Speaker 3: wins a World Series, that's when you hear it. That's
- 11:09Speaker 3: when you hear, I don't know if you saw McGill
- 11:11Speaker 3: telling someone, I think it was Ben Berlander on his interview, like, hey,
- 11:16Speaker 3: now we just get to rub it in Chicago's face.
- 11:18Speaker 3: But in this case, this is organizational organization, Murph feeling
- 11:22Speaker 3: as if the Yankees did not do it right with
- 11:25Speaker 3: Bowers and with their philosophy in general.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I mean, that is about as direct of a shot
- 11:30Speaker 1: as you can make.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Why is everyone picking on the Yankees, Kratz? Why is
- 11:36Speaker 4: everyone picking on the Yankees? Remember the Dodgers won? They
- 11:39Speaker 4: picked on the Yankees. Now Murph wins. He picks on
- 11:41Speaker 4: the Yankees.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Why is everyone.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Picking on the Yankees?
- 11:44Speaker 2: I know why.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Because I think in our sport right now, there are
- 11:47Speaker 3: parts of the Yankees over the last five years at least,
- 11:51Speaker 3: maybe 10, where the rest of the sport gets mad.
- 11:55Speaker 3: And it's coaches, it's players, et cetera, right? Two years ago,
- 11:59Speaker 3: they're looking and they're like, a team that's this clunky
- 12:02Speaker 3: defensively and needs more athleticism and all of that is
- 12:05Speaker 3: just not what should be a winning baseball team. In
- 12:07Speaker 3: this particular case, yeah, the Yankees are one of many
- 12:11Speaker 3: teams that are fly ball power, all of that obsessed.
- 12:17Speaker 3: And I mean, Murph was also talking about some other
- 12:20Speaker 3: things within that quote, but.
- 12:22Speaker 1: They're, they're an easy target and crats. You know what?
- 12:24Speaker 1: The Yankees have won a ton.
- 12:26Speaker 3: They were the team that, and the franchise that everyone
- 12:28Speaker 3: was jealous of for a long time. And then they
- 12:33Speaker 3: became this version of the Yankees. So I think that's fair, right?
- 12:38Speaker 3: You got to beat the best. And now they're not
- 12:40Speaker 3: the best anymore for like 20 years. And yeah, They're
- 12:43Speaker 3: going to kick them because they also are not doing what.
- 12:45Speaker 1: The Brewers are doing.
- 12:46Speaker 3: The Brewers and the Yankees could not be more opposite
- 12:49Speaker 3: right now in terms of what they look like on
- 12:51Speaker 3: a baseball field.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I know the people in the upper tier that are
- 12:56Speaker 2: making those decisions. I know they're having those conversations. It's
- 13:00Speaker 2: a matter of how much are they willing to shift
- 13:04Speaker 2: or make the players help shift that focus. They are
- 13:10Speaker 2: You just said it, Scott. Even since 24, I think
- 13:12Speaker 2: the team has gotten more athletic. They're moving around on
- 13:16Speaker 2: the bases a little bit better. Yes, they still make mistakes,
- 13:20Speaker 2: but they're more athletic. How do they make the next step?
- 13:24Speaker 2: They do not need to be the Brewers, but you
- 13:27Speaker 2: can be a version of the Brewers with that immense
- 13:30Speaker 2: power that you have.
- 13:33Speaker 3: And one more shout out here, and then we'll show Murph.
- 13:35Speaker 3: I mean, also part of this equation is just having
- 13:38Speaker 3: one of the nastiest bullpens that I can remember, and
- 13:41Speaker 3: it goes beyond just two or three guys. We went
- 13:43Speaker 3: over this a lot on the post-game show, so I
- 13:45Speaker 3: won't spend a ton of time on it. I want
- 13:46Speaker 3: people to check that out since it was still all
- 13:48Speaker 3: very relevant. But a guy like Ashby had one of
- 13:51Speaker 3: the best performances we've ever seen from a reliever, if
- 13:53Speaker 3: not the best. Nine appearances, 18 shutout innings. Just incredible
- 13:58Speaker 3: from their bullpen. Abner Uribe, D.L. Hall, McGill certainly was fine.
- 14:03Speaker 1: He got the job done. JoJo Romero, yep.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Dustin May gave him some big innings too. Like Dustin
- 14:09Speaker 4: May has taken some heat for not being very good
- 14:11Speaker 4: since he came over there. He gave him some really
- 14:13Speaker 4: big innings.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Oh, the Dustin May that currently holds the most World
- 14:16Speaker 3: Series rings among active players tied with Mookie Betts.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Dustin May. Yeah, he's got some rings. He's trying to
- 14:21Speaker 1: fill up his hand and he's still got career left
- 14:23Speaker 1: to go. He might do it. He might fill one
- 14:25Speaker 1: hand with five rings. Pretty impressive.
- 14:27Speaker 2: All right.
- 14:27Speaker 3: So Pat Murphy is a star. And he has been
- 14:31Speaker 3: manager of the year the last two years. Now he
- 14:33Speaker 3: gets a World Series title. He might get another manager
- 14:35Speaker 3: of the year. Not that he really cares as much
- 14:37Speaker 3: about that, but it does speak to how he's able
- 14:40Speaker 3: to take a team that has expectations publicly that are
- 14:42Speaker 3: not as high as they should be. And here's just
- 14:45Speaker 3: one of the many quotes that he said last night
- 14:47Speaker 3: after winning.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Listen up, guys.
- 14:50Speaker 8: It goes without saying how grateful I am. I'm grateful
- 14:57Speaker 8: to have a group like you guys.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I really am. All of you.
- 15:01Speaker 8: And it starts with Mark and his group. Gotta remember
- 15:04Speaker 8: guys like Bud Seeley who got.
- 15:05Speaker 2: This thing started. And of course, you.
- 15:09Speaker 8: I got a little message from you. Matt Arnold and
- 15:16Speaker 8: his front office, the Ivory Tower, putting all this together.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Incredible. You know what I mean?
- 15:21Speaker 8: And we set out. We set out and we talked
- 15:25Speaker 8: about Uncommon Mindset. We said in spring training, you might
- 15:29Speaker 8: be shocked.
- 15:31Speaker 4: We really did.
- 15:33Speaker 8: Then we had people, we had leadership that committed to that.
- 15:37Speaker 8: They committed to that uncommon mindset, being undaunted. And it starts, guys,
- 15:42Speaker 8: you gotta connect this. It starts back when Robin played
- 15:45Speaker 8: and the way he played the game. That set the
- 15:47Speaker 8: tone for the Milwaukee Brewers. 20-some plus years, Hall of Fame.
- 15:51Speaker 8: And he's still here celebrating with you guys and he
- 15:53Speaker 8: comes all the time because this is a connection you'll
- 15:56Speaker 8: remember for life. So you sent me a text today.
- 16:03Speaker 8: You said, look, I helped you against the Padres. And
- 16:10Speaker 8: I messed with the Dodgers a little bit. And then
- 16:14Speaker 8: you came here on your own because we had a
- 16:16Speaker 8: doubleheader and they actually let me catch the last three
- 16:19Speaker 8: innings of the game.
- 16:22Speaker 4: But you did it for the city.
- 16:24Speaker 2: You did it for the state.
- 16:27Speaker 8: And you boys ought to be awfully proud to know
- 16:29Speaker 8: that you're the first ever Milwaukee Brewer team.
- 16:34Speaker 2: To be world champs. Awesome.
- 16:39Speaker 3: I love hearing the champagne bottles getting all prepped and
- 16:42Speaker 3: popped as they get ready to spread and go crazy.
- 16:46Speaker 1: That was cool.
- 16:46Speaker 3: And that plays to one of the conversations we had yesterday, too,
- 16:49Speaker 3: when you connect the franchise back. You always want to
- 16:51Speaker 3: do that. And he gave Robin Yount a shout out
- 16:53Speaker 3: and Bob Euchre when you're having a speech like that.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Right?
- 16:56Speaker 1: It's not just about this year. It's about the entire
- 16:58Speaker 1: history of the franchise. Super, super cool. We're going to
- 17:02Speaker 1: do a lot more on this, so we'll save more thoughts.
- 17:04Speaker 1: We'll let everyone. Yep.
- 17:06Speaker 4: You know, the best part of that whole video, Mark Antonacio,
- 17:09Speaker 4: the owner having flip-flops on and getting ready to get
- 17:11Speaker 4: down some champagne. He was right behind Murph, right over
- 17:14Speaker 4: his shoulder, standing there and flip-flops and, you know, just
- 17:18Speaker 4: waiting to get down. So you don't see owners get
- 17:20Speaker 4: to get to do that or involved in that that often.
- 17:22Speaker 4: So that was pretty, pretty awesome to see him like,
- 17:26Speaker 4: He couldn't wait. He's like, oh, you kept messing with
- 17:29Speaker 4: his hat. He's like, what do I do? He had
- 17:30Speaker 4: the Brewers World Champion. He has flip-flops on his shower shoes.
- 17:33Speaker 4: He was ready to get doused.
- 17:35Speaker 3: It's going to be a new generation of owners, AJ.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Did you see the Padres owners were like dancing with
- 17:39Speaker 3: the players. They were having a good time. I'm all
- 17:40Speaker 3: about it.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I love it.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Hey, you're in on this, right?
- 17:43Speaker 3: You're making the decisions on transactions. Get in on the party.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I'm with you. That's why you're on a team.
- 17:50Speaker 2: That's why you're on a team. Yep. To be there
- 17:53Speaker 2: in that moment.
- 17:54Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Could not agree more. You don't have to stand in
- 17:56Speaker 3: the back. You're part of this thing. You run the operation.
- 17:59Speaker 3: All right, good stuff. First off, full count, fueled by Marathon,
- 18:04Speaker 3: where fun runs on full. Save up to $ 1 a
- 18:07Speaker 3: gallon with Marathon rewards. Thanks to Marathon for being a
- 18:10Speaker 3: big part of FT's postseason ride, fueling us all postseason long.
- 18:17Speaker 3: And for Milwaukee Brewers fans, we'll show this a few
- 18:19Speaker 3: times throughout the show. There is just a wide, wide
- 18:22Speaker 3: array of options for you on FoulTerritoryShop.com, or as Todd
- 18:26Speaker 3: Father would say, a plethora. I think that's his favorite word,
- 18:29Speaker 3: of options for you on FoulTerritoryShop.com. Kevin Cash and Pat
- 18:35Speaker 3: Murphy sharing a moment. Postgame, always cool.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Does this always happen? I feel like we usually get
- 18:42Speaker 1: the photos like this, AJ, but I wonder. I think
- 18:45Speaker 1: it happens a lot.
- 18:46Speaker 4: I think sometimes it's private, though, Scott.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I think it's private.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I think it's more private than this. Someone just happened
- 18:51Speaker 4: to catch this, but a lot of times they do
- 18:54Speaker 4: do this and the manager will meet the other manager.
- 18:59Speaker 4: Usually you can sneak around into a clubhouse and just
- 19:01Speaker 4: see the guy for a minute and say congratulations. But
- 19:03Speaker 4: a classy move by Kevin Cash. He didn't have to
- 19:05Speaker 4: do this, but he walked over and said, hey Murph,
- 19:08Speaker 4: congratulations and congratulations to your organization, especially coming from Kevin Cash,
- 19:12Speaker 4: who's played against Murph a few times. So we showed
- 19:14Speaker 4: him the other day in the College World Series. Classy
- 19:16Speaker 4: move by Kevin Cash.
- 19:18Speaker 3: And did you guys see how certain Rays, Cash, Rasmussen,
- 19:22Speaker 3: and others were pointing out not only how dominant the
- 19:24Speaker 3: team was, how ridiculous the bullpen was, right? There was
- 19:26Speaker 3: praise where, like Cashy, for example, he's been around the
- 19:29Speaker 3: sport for a while now, Kratz. And I don't remember
- 19:32Speaker 3: if you said the bullpen, the team, or both, but
- 19:34Speaker 3: about as impressive as he's seen.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, Rasmussen even said the same thing. Like,
- 19:40Speaker 2: it's one of the most impressive teams he's seen in
- 19:43Speaker 2: Major League Baseball, if not the best. I'm not sure
- 19:45Speaker 2: exactly what he said, but You're all using the same
- 19:48Speaker 2: corridor to leave and, like, all that stuff. And guys
- 19:51Speaker 2: come out. They're drinking. And the other team has to
- 19:54Speaker 2: walk by that locker room usually. Like, you have those interactions.
- 19:58Speaker 2: And none of them feel any more awkward if you
- 20:02Speaker 2: have won or you lost. But they're all always filled
- 20:06Speaker 2: with just mutual respect like you see from that picture.
- 20:09Speaker 9: Mm-hmm.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Yeah, cool sportsmanship, respectful, all of that. And I know
- 20:15Speaker 3: we talked a lot about it over the past week,
- 20:17Speaker 3: but it's not easy to see another team invade your territory.
- 20:25Speaker 1: At least it was Brewers fans. I will say this.
- 20:26Speaker 1: As someone who grew up in the Northeast, it could
- 20:29Speaker 1: be much worse.
- 20:30Speaker 3: If you have New York, Philly, or Boston invading your.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Area, it's probably not as Midwest nice.
- 20:38Speaker 3: I can say that. I grew up in an area that.
- 20:42Speaker 2: If this is how filled it was, if this is
- 20:44Speaker 2: how filled it was with the brewers, there's not a
- 20:46Speaker 2: lot of people from Milwaukee like transplant down there. Imagine
- 20:50Speaker 2: if it were one of the other East Coast cities
- 20:54Speaker 2: that transplant down there. What it was, you know, yeah.
- 20:58Speaker 2: It could have been worse. Maybe.
- 21:08Speaker 4: That's what she said.
- 21:10Speaker 3: We have great sound from the World Series clincher, so
- 21:13Speaker 3: let's keep running that. That's what he said is presented
- 21:15Speaker 3: by Lorraine Coe. We're going to start with the Miz.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I mean, he's going to win the Cy Young Award soon, officially.
- 21:21Speaker 3: He's got it locked already. Spoiler alert. But then he
- 21:25Speaker 3: also gets to pitch in the clinching game and pitch
- 21:28Speaker 3: well and pitch differently. We'll get AJ's thoughts on how
- 21:31Speaker 3: he pitched, but let's get Miz postgame on the field first.
- 21:35Speaker 7: What did you learn about yourself this year?
- 21:38Speaker 5: Just.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Just that I could do it. You know, I think
- 21:42Speaker 5: that was the biggest thing. And, you know, there's a
- 21:44Speaker 5: lot of self-doubt and everything. But, you know, at the
- 21:47Speaker 5: same time, having the support from family and, you know,
- 21:50Speaker 5: my teammates, it's been possible.
- 21:53Speaker 7: So it's been amazing. You mentioned the support from your
- 21:56Speaker 7: family and teammates. I'm assuming that's how you overcame a
- 21:58Speaker 7: lot of that. What does it mean to share this
- 22:00Speaker 7: moment with your family?
- 22:01Speaker 2: It's unreal.
- 22:02Speaker 5: You know, having my fiance here, it means the world. And,
- 22:06Speaker 5: you know, all support and, you know, hardship she's gone
- 22:09Speaker 5: through to get me here. It's really awesome.
- 22:12Speaker 7: And then last one for me, 10-year-old Jacob Mizorowski looks
- 22:14Speaker 7: at you now and thinks what?
- 22:17Speaker 5: In disbelief. You know, it's really, really cool. Just getting
- 22:23Speaker 5: to where I'm at and, you know, being in this opportunity,
- 22:27Speaker 5: it's amazing.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Great questions from our guy Michael on the field, talking
- 22:31Speaker 3: to the Miz.
- 22:32Speaker 1: So AJ, I wanted to tee you up in two ways.
- 22:34Speaker 3: One, the Brewers handled the Miz in the minor leagues
- 22:39Speaker 3: with a little bit of care, right?
- 22:41Speaker 1: It took him some time.
- 22:41Speaker 3: To get up to the show, and there were a
- 22:43Speaker 3: lot of people publicly saying, well, why don't they just
- 22:46Speaker 3: make this dude a reliever if he's not fine in
- 22:48Speaker 3: the zone? Well, it takes some patience with a guy
- 22:50Speaker 3: that's six foot million. And then two, what did you
- 22:52Speaker 3: think of... I'll start with this. What did you think
- 22:54Speaker 3: of his performance in game five? Because it wasn't the
- 22:58Speaker 3: Miz performance you would see in July, but it's also
- 23:01Speaker 3: the Rays. Actually, you were the one that thought maybe
- 23:02Speaker 3: he'd rack up the Ks, and the Rays just... They're
- 23:06Speaker 3: good on the contact front.
- 23:07Speaker 1: That's the one thing. They will not give in on
- 23:09Speaker 1: strikeouts there.
- 23:12Speaker 4: First of all, I hope no one shook Michael's hand
- 23:15Speaker 4: because we had this conversation yesterday. But the thing about Miz.
- 23:20Speaker 1: You can't just say that.
- 23:21Speaker 3: You're going to get all kinds of weird thoughts.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Let's just say Michael gets a little nervous sometimes around people,
- 23:29Speaker 4: so he might have a little bit of a clammy
- 23:32Speaker 4: hand syndrome. I don't know if that's a thing. But
- 23:35Speaker 4: we love Michael and good job, Michael. Killer suit. But
- 23:39Speaker 4: the Miz, here's the thing. I'm down at a golf
- 23:42Speaker 4: course and I'm playing golf and people are asking me today,
- 23:44Speaker 4: did the right team win?
- 23:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:46Speaker 4: And then they all, everyone wants to know about the Miz.
- 23:49Speaker 4: What is this guy? And I say, well, he's six
- 23:51Speaker 4: foot eight and he's like a 12 year old kid.
- 23:53Speaker 4: I mean, seriously, you talk to him, he's talking about
- 23:55Speaker 4: Pokemon and, and he's just a fun loving guy that
- 24:00Speaker 4: is living the best life ever. And, he does with
- 24:04Speaker 4: such extension. And he, we talked about it yesterday with, uh,
- 24:08Speaker 4: Kurt Ho about Adam Wainwright. It's like, why don't you
- 24:10Speaker 4: just throw your fastball? It's still 103. And that's basically
- 24:13Speaker 4: what he did in this game. He just went out
- 24:15Speaker 4: and was like, the race can't take me out of
- 24:16Speaker 4: the yard. So I'm just going to challenge him with fastballs.
- 24:18Speaker 4: The race swung early. They didn't strike out, but they
- 24:21Speaker 4: also didn't do any damage off of me. He had
- 24:23Speaker 4: a lot of weak fly balls, a lot of weak contact.
- 24:24Speaker 4: So this played perfectly into his hands. Uh, He did
- 24:29Speaker 4: what he needed to do. He threw the ball really well.
- 24:31Speaker 4: He threw it over the plate. I don't know what
- 24:33Speaker 4: happened from last year to this year, but he figured
- 24:35Speaker 4: out how to grow up and throw it over the plate.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Whoever developed him and whoever sat down with him this offseason,
- 24:42Speaker 4: I tip my cap to you because you did a
- 24:44Speaker 4: hell of a job.
- 24:46Speaker 2: That's a great point. His maturation from one year to
- 24:50Speaker 2: the next is really about just attacking the hitters and
- 24:53Speaker 2: throwing in the zone. There was times when You would
- 24:56Speaker 2: hear complaints from Milwaukee fans about, ah, too many cutters.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Too many cutters from William Contreras. They're calling too many
- 25:03Speaker 2: and giving hitters a chance. Like, you're nitpicking. You're like
- 25:09Speaker 2: splitting hairs when you're talking about the Cy Young award
- 25:11Speaker 2: winner going out in the clinching game of the World
- 25:16Speaker 2: Series and saying, you know what? He might not have
- 25:18Speaker 2: his best stuff. His foot might be slipping. He can't
- 25:21Speaker 2: get the good grip he wants on that mound. We're
- 25:24Speaker 2: just going to go and attack the zone. And I
- 25:26Speaker 2: think that confidence and maturity happened before this season. Talking
- 25:31Speaker 2: to Hooky gives him that confidence that, you know what,
- 25:35Speaker 2: your stuff plays. Maybe Adam Wainwright did help. Adam Wainwright's
- 25:39Speaker 2: not a big Chicago Cubs fan either, so maybe this
- 25:42Speaker 2: really was just to hurt the Chicago Cubs. But he
- 25:46Speaker 2: just said, you throw 105. Go and throw it. It
- 25:50Speaker 2: seems so easy. He throws 105 and he's closer. than
- 25:54Speaker 2: everybody else in baseball. So it's like, oh, maybe I
- 25:57Speaker 2: should just do that. Simplifying it with confidence. Mm-hmm. So
- 26:02Speaker 2: that's Mizz.
- 26:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Well, no, I've got two things. One, what Kratz said,
- 26:08Speaker 4: Wayno was Mizz's favorite player growing up, so they got
- 26:11Speaker 4: to talk in the DS, so that was why Wayno
- 26:13Speaker 4: helped him out or talked to him. And then two,
- 26:16Speaker 4: I mean, Mizz also has Carter Capps going. Remember Carter
- 26:19Speaker 4: Capps used to jump off the mound? I mean, Mizz,
- 26:21Speaker 4: when he throws the ball, his foot is like a
- 26:23Speaker 4: foot Off the rubber. I didn't know you could do that.
- 26:26Speaker 4: He's throwing, and his foot's landing, and he still has
- 26:28Speaker 4: the ball in his hand, and it comes off. And
- 26:30Speaker 4: his foot is– they kept showing it. I mean, it's
- 26:33Speaker 4: a good foot off the rubber. I thought you had
- 26:34Speaker 4: to remain in contact. I guess not in this case because, remember,
- 26:37Speaker 4: Carter captures to jump before he threw the ball, and
- 26:40Speaker 4: they made him work on it, and then he could
- 26:41Speaker 4: never pitch anymore. But Miz is the same way. I mean,
- 26:43Speaker 4: he's a good foot off the rubber from right over
- 26:46Speaker 4: the mound.
- 26:47Speaker 2: It's incredible. It's incredible, and it's something that, you know,
- 26:50Speaker 2: like the tush push, people are going to look at
- 26:51Speaker 2: it and be like, oh, we need to change this rule.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Do we.
- 26:59Speaker 1: No oh yeah i mean.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Look at ms in the prior two starts like look
- 27:07Speaker 3: at the padres and how they fouled off pitch after
- 27:11Speaker 3: pitch from the miss and the delivery hasn't changed so
- 27:15Speaker 3: unfair advantage i don't think so let's keep the sport
- 27:19Speaker 3: let's also play the sport next year but Jake Bowers
- 27:21Speaker 3: is a great story.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Let's hear from him, and then we'll talk about not.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Just his big plate appearances throughout the postseason, but also
- 27:29Speaker 3: I want to highlight his defense after we hear what
- 27:32Speaker 3: he said.
- 27:33Speaker 10: I just keep thinking about the city of Milwaukee and
- 27:35Speaker 10: how long they waited for this, and I'm so happy for.
- 27:38Speaker 2: The people back there.
- 27:39Speaker 7: Those last 10 seconds before the final out was made,
- 27:42Speaker 7: what's going through your mind?
- 27:44Speaker 10: Catch the ball.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Catch the ball, honestly. That's all I was thinking about.
- 27:48Speaker 10: I mean, you figure a ground ball's coming, and the
- 27:50Speaker 10: only thought was catch the ball.
- 27:52Speaker 7: What would 10-year-old Jake Bowers think of you now?
- 27:56Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 27:59Speaker 10: I'm not too sure, man.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I just know.
- 28:03Speaker 10: I kept going the whole way through, and that's something
- 28:06Speaker 10: that I'll always be proud of.
- 28:07Speaker 7: And then last one. I'm seeing a lot of you
- 28:09Speaker 7: guys wearing this chain with baseball cards on it. What's
- 28:12Speaker 7: the backstory behind this?
- 28:14Speaker 10: The backstory is we went back in the clubhouse and
- 28:16Speaker 10: these were all waiting for us in our locker. I'm
- 28:20Speaker 10: assuming Tops made it.
- 28:22Speaker 2: So shout out Tops. And, you know, yeah, pretty sick.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Pretty sick.
- 28:26Speaker 7: Will you be wearing that to the parade?
- 28:29Speaker 2: I'll be wearing this maybe for the rest of my life.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I might not ever take it off.
- 28:33Speaker 1: That's good stuff.
- 28:34Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 1: They made them some instant baseball cards, of course, the
- 28:38Speaker 1: World Series champs.
- 28:39Speaker 3: But actually I wanted to start with their defense or
- 28:41Speaker 3: with his defense. AJ and he was better in prior rounds,
- 28:46Speaker 3: probably at bat wise than he was in the world series.
- 28:50Speaker 3: But for Bowers, I mean, in game five, there were
- 28:52Speaker 3: a couple of plays that said out to me where
- 28:54Speaker 3: you're like, damn, he's getting it done. And there was
- 28:57Speaker 3: someone in a game, especially what was a game one
- 29:00Speaker 3: or game two, who really didn't get it done for
- 29:02Speaker 3: the race and Jonathan Ronda. He had a tough game.
- 29:04Speaker 3: It was game one or two. It's all stringing together.
- 29:06Speaker 3: But I mean, Bowers is a much better defender than him.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Bowers made some diving plays. he had some picks. I mean,
- 29:14Speaker 4: he missed a couple of picks. I guarantee you, he'll
- 29:16Speaker 4: tell you that he should have made, uh, on some
- 29:18Speaker 4: Cooper Pratt, one Cooper Pratt throw against the Padres and,
- 29:21Speaker 4: and the Ortiz throw in game four that he probably
- 29:24Speaker 4: thinks he should have made, but he really showed out.
- 29:26Speaker 4: Jake Bauer showed up from a guy who was quitting, retiring,
- 29:29Speaker 4: and just wanted insurance to a guy who now is
- 29:31Speaker 4: a world series champion. And listen, as we've talked about,
- 29:34Speaker 4: if you followed this show enough, Jake Bowers was kind
- 29:36Speaker 4: of the poster child for the three true outcomes. Remember, uh,
- 29:40Speaker 4: What's his name? Lance Brzozowski. We'd always talk about him
- 29:42Speaker 4: when he was with the Yankees. And now here he
- 29:45Speaker 4: is leading the team in home runs that just won
- 29:47Speaker 4: the World Series. So Jake Bowers made some adjustments and
- 29:49Speaker 4: did a great job.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I don't think Murph's wrong. I mean,
- 29:52Speaker 2: he's going to go get paid. He's on the older
- 29:54Speaker 2: side of free agents, but The fact that he's able
- 29:58Speaker 2: to be, he was third in the league in on-base percentage.
- 30:02Speaker 2: That's something that I remember when he was like 19
- 30:04Speaker 2: or 20 years old back in like 2017, 18 when
- 30:07Speaker 2: I played against him in Durham. I remember this dude would,
- 30:11Speaker 2: he would just take a lot of pitches and I
- 30:13Speaker 2: felt like he was walking or he was taking to
- 30:16Speaker 2: walk and it looked like now he was taking till
- 30:20Speaker 2: he got a pitch in the zone and do damage
- 30:23Speaker 2: on it. Is he going to be a marquee free agent?
- 30:25Speaker 5: No.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Has he turned his career around? Yes. And the fact
- 30:29Speaker 2: that the Brewers have gone through so many first basemen,
- 30:35Speaker 2: throughout the years. I mean, you're talking about before I
- 30:41Speaker 2: was even there. Carter, the big right-handed hitter. Then you
- 30:45Speaker 2: go like a Rowdy Tellez. You go Jesus Aguilar. You
- 30:49Speaker 2: go different guys. I mean, Travis Shaw played a little
- 30:52Speaker 2: bit of first base when he was there. They've cycled
- 30:56Speaker 2: through Reese Hoskins. They've cycled through guys. And the fact
- 31:00Speaker 2: that a guy was able to do what he did,
- 31:02Speaker 2: like Jake Bowers did this year, and then come through
- 31:05Speaker 2: in the earlier rounds of the postseason, and they still
- 31:07Speaker 2: didn't even need him in the World Series to do
- 31:10Speaker 2: what he did, incredible.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that was not a position that had a guy
- 31:14Speaker 3: there for a long time. You know, just to use
- 31:17Speaker 3: a comp, since the Reds are so jealous of the Brewers,
- 31:21Speaker 3: they had Votto there forever. But the Brewers did cycle
- 31:24Speaker 3: through a ton of first basemen over the years.
- 31:27Speaker 1: And some of them had success.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Some of them had– Rowdy Tellez was a
- 31:32Speaker 2: 30-home run guy there. Jesus Aguilar was an all-star when
- 31:36Speaker 2: I was there. I think Carter– why am I forgetting?
- 31:39Speaker 2: Chris Carter. Chris Carter was a three-true outcome guy. He had–
- 31:44Speaker 2: I think he had 40. I'd have to look it up.
- 31:47Speaker 2: He had a lot of homers, yes. They had a
- 31:50Speaker 2: lot of guys that had success at that position, and
- 31:54Speaker 2: none of them have been this long-term option at first base.
- 32:01Speaker 3: And Bowers might not be either. He's probably going to
- 32:03Speaker 3: go somewhere else in free agency.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Because they can find someone else.
- 32:08Speaker 1: They'll find someone else. They also have– They still have
- 32:10Speaker 1: Andrew Vaughn.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Right.
- 32:12Speaker 1: They have Vaughn. They also have a little bit of
- 32:13Speaker 1: a surplus that's going to begin here.
- 32:16Speaker 4: Andrew Fisher. What was it?
- 32:17Speaker 1: Andrew Fisher, I was going to say, is Fisher first
- 32:19Speaker 1: base or outfielder?
- 32:21Speaker 2: He's an outfielder. He's an outfielder right now.
- 32:24Speaker 1: But the outfield's getting full, too.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't crack this outfield right now, sorry, without athleticism.
- 32:30Speaker 2: I mean, Yelly's got DH locked down for another year.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Dude, Fisher's ready.
- 32:38Speaker 4: He might come up at first. Laura, Freelick, Mitchell, Churrio,
- 32:41Speaker 4: there's four.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Made's coming next year. This team's got it. They're not
- 32:46Speaker 3: going to do much in free agency, newsflash. They never do.
- 32:49Speaker 3: They're not going to do much.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Why?
- 32:50Speaker 1: Because they already have a surplus.
- 32:53Speaker 3: They might grab a pitcher or two that's on the cheap,
- 32:55Speaker 3: but position player-wise, there's a lot going on.
- 32:59Speaker 2: And now they proved they don't need it. They proved
- 33:01Speaker 2: it to me. They proved it to AJ. They proved
- 33:04Speaker 2: it to Scott. They don't need it. And that's vindication
- 33:08Speaker 2: for them. Possibly William Contreras is gone. Obviously, you're not
- 33:13Speaker 2: going to talk about that the day after. Just saying.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Just saying.
- 33:17Speaker 4: Mercy, you want to trade him?
- 33:19Speaker 3: Well, he's a free agent after next season. In my mind,
- 33:23Speaker 3: I actually do think they try and get something done
- 33:25Speaker 3: with him.
- 33:26Speaker 2: They already have tried.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I think they try again.
- 33:30Speaker 2: It just got a lot more expensive. Okay.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Maybe I'm wrong. But let's see. They're making some money.
- 33:37Speaker 3: I think if there's one guy that you circle that
- 33:40Speaker 3: you waited a little bit too long on to come
- 33:43Speaker 3: to his price, maybe you circle back to it.
- 33:45Speaker 2: They could go two more years with him because he
- 33:48Speaker 2: has next season.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Oh, it's 28?
- 33:50Speaker 2: No, no, no, no. He would have 27, and then
- 33:54Speaker 2: you can qualify. You can give him a qualifying offer.
- 33:57Speaker 2: I mean, they gave Big Woo a qualifying offer without
- 33:59Speaker 2: being healthy, so they wouldn't be afraid of it.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Take a step back.
- 34:06Speaker 3: They couldn't agree on terms right now, and you think
- 34:09Speaker 3: that he would accept a qualifying offer?
- 34:11Speaker 2: I'm just saying. No way.
- 34:14Speaker 1: If he looks the way he did, He's not accepting
- 34:17Speaker 1: a qualifying offer.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 34:19Speaker 3: If you delve in, maybe he really loves it there. Yeah,
- 34:23Speaker 3: if he loves it there, then he'll sign up long-term.
- 34:25Speaker 3: They'll be like, hey, let's look at Cal Raleigh's deal.
- 34:28Speaker 3: That's what they'll do.
- 34:29Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Catchers are not as expensive as some other players. I mean,
- 34:32Speaker 1: you guys know this.
- 34:33Speaker 3: It's undervalued, but the market doesn't pay catchers the way
- 34:36Speaker 3: they pay most other positions because you guys get beat up.
- 34:38Speaker 3: So he's not going to cost $ 250 million.
- 34:41Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. That's why I read an article
- 34:43Speaker 2: about it. We'll get into it another time. The fact
- 34:46Speaker 2: that the qualifying offer could be $ 22 million, he's not
- 34:49Speaker 2: making $ 22 million in a year. His brother knows that.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I don't even know if Cal Raleigh's making that. Will
- 34:57Speaker 2: Smith's not making that. So I'm just saying. I'm just saying.
- 35:01Speaker 2: It's a possibility.
- 35:03Speaker 5: Okay.
- 35:03Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 35:03Speaker 5: All right.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Well, that is what we will be talking about all offseason.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Don't tell Kratz possibilities. Kratz, don't tell Scott possibilities. He
- 35:11Speaker 4: doesn't believe it.
- 35:12Speaker 2: He wants facts. Facts.
- 35:13Speaker 4: Strictly facts.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a fact guy. I'm a fact guy.
- 35:16Speaker 3: I don't go on that Wikipedia page with AJ's check swings.
- 35:22Speaker 4: I want facts.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I want the dictionary.
- 35:24Speaker 4: That was checked, Scott. That junk was checked.
- 35:27Speaker 3: That was as check as check gets. Yes, I learned
- 35:30Speaker 3: a lot with that photo. All right, you see this?
- 35:33Speaker 3: This is Lorraine Co. This is my favorite flavor, by
- 35:36Speaker 3: the way. So props to them. Also one of our
- 35:38Speaker 3: sponsors during the postseason run.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I'm a cinnamon guy.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I'm a mango guy.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Kratz is a mango guy. So lock in. Remineralizing pouches
- 35:48Speaker 1: from Lorraine Co. are nicotine-free.
- 35:50Speaker 3: They're made with powerful nootropics to keep you mentally sharp
- 35:52Speaker 3: while supporting your teeth. Buylorraine.com is the site. For 10%
- 35:57Speaker 3: off at checkout, the code is FT10. First off, Bob
- 36:02Speaker 3: Nightingale tweeted this 20 minutes ago. He said, first trade
- 36:05Speaker 3: of the offseason, the Red Sox trade. Nate Eaton to
- 36:08Speaker 3: the A's. Let the hot stove begin. we're going to
- 36:13Speaker 3: cook a little extra this month too, or for the
- 36:16Speaker 3: next month before the lockout.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Thank goodness. Thank goodness. Cause I don't, I'm not looking
- 36:21Speaker 4: forward to the next once all this shuts down December 1st,
- 36:26Speaker 4: it's going to be a slow blog fest.
- 36:29Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 36:29Speaker 1: It's going to be a lot of business and legal talk. Yeah.
- 36:33Speaker 2: We'll have fun with it.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Yeah, we will. We're going to have fun with it, AJ.
- 36:37Speaker 1: We're going to make you smile.
- 36:37Speaker 4: I know we're going to have fun with it, but
- 36:39Speaker 4: there's only so many times I can say CBA before
- 36:41Speaker 4: I want to, Pull my hair out.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Better than saying NBA.
- 36:47Speaker 2: But it's also better than saying, oh, what's on Brewster's Million?
- 36:51Speaker 2: Like there's going to be only one place that's going
- 36:53Speaker 2: to be covering it, honestly.
- 36:55Speaker 4: And you can't watch Brewster's Million. I love Brewster's Million.
- 36:57Speaker 4: That's a great movie. Dude, don't make fun of Brewster's Millions.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Great movie. I'd rather talk about CBA and the future
- 37:03Speaker 2: of the game than watch that movie again and see
- 37:06Speaker 2: if he can spend a million dollars for the 33rd
- 37:09Speaker 2: straight day in a row.
- 37:11Speaker 1: That is a great line. Great movie, but a great
- 37:14Speaker 1: line by Kratz.
- 37:15Speaker 4: We're not going to run movies on this channel. The
- 37:18Speaker 4: mask that John Candy got, by the way, was so pimp.
- 37:21Speaker 4: So pimp.
- 37:23Speaker 3: There's some poaching going on, and there will be. When
- 37:25Speaker 3: a team is good, the rest of the league goes,
- 37:27Speaker 3: how are they good? Let's steal their people. Brewers executive
- 37:31Speaker 3: Matt Klein is the focus of the Astros GM search,
- 37:34Speaker 3: according to multiple sources, for Chandler Rome, who reports on
- 37:38Speaker 3: this team for The Athletic and, of course, hosts crushed
- 37:41Speaker 3: city territory, part of the FT network.
- 37:43Speaker 1: He said, no deal.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Finalized or agreed upon, but Klein is the Astros choice.
- 37:47Speaker 3: And AJ, there was a picture of him with Jim
- 37:50Speaker 3: crane on some like red carpet thing. So this has
- 37:53Speaker 3: been rumored for weeks where they're like, yeah, he's probably
- 37:56Speaker 3: just waiting until the world series is done.
- 37:58Speaker 1: And that's respectful.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Let him enjoy the ride here and then keep the
- 38:01Speaker 3: conversations going. So we'll see if the Astros end up
- 38:04Speaker 3: taking someone from the brain trust, the ivory tower of
- 38:08Speaker 3: the brewers.
- 38:08Speaker 4: And also did the brewers, the new raise, Are the
- 38:11Speaker 4: Brewers the new Rays?
- 38:13Speaker 2: Yeah, they're the new Brewers. The Rays don't have a
- 38:16Speaker 2: World Series.
- 38:19Speaker 1: True.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Matt Arnold also came from the Rays. But remember how
- 38:22Speaker 4: for so long everybody wanted to, oh, we need people
- 38:24Speaker 4: from the Rays. We've got to have a guy from
- 38:26Speaker 4: the Rays. We've got to have a coach, a manager,
- 38:28Speaker 4: a front office guy from the Rays. Well, the Brewers
- 38:29Speaker 4: become the new team that everybody goes to and says,
- 38:32Speaker 4: how did Matt Arnold, how did Mark Antonaccio, how did
- 38:35Speaker 4: Thad Levine, how did all these guys do this to
- 38:38Speaker 4: where they are today? now being poached left and right.
- 38:41Speaker 4: And it's just, if you get the Rays on you forever,
- 38:44Speaker 4: you could get a job. Now, if you get the
- 38:45Speaker 4: Brewers on you, can you just get a job automatically?
- 38:47Speaker 4: Kind of like driveline. If you went to driveline, it's like, Jared,
- 38:50Speaker 4: if you went to driveline, you get a job.
- 38:53Speaker 2: You get a job.
- 38:55Speaker 4: It helps.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Also, well, here's another one, AJ.
- 38:57Speaker 3: The White Sox hired Matt Roth, scouting director, coming over
- 39:02Speaker 3: from the Brewers, assistant director of domestic scouting.
- 39:06Speaker 2: There you go. There we go.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Everyone wants to be the Brewers. It's a copycat league.
- 39:10Speaker 4: What do the Brewers do? How do they draft so well?
- 39:11Speaker 4: How did they find this person? How did they do this?
- 39:14Speaker 4: It's smart. I can't believe the White Sox went outside
- 39:16Speaker 4: the organization, though. It's crazy that they would do such
- 39:18Speaker 4: a crazy thing like that.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Here's the problem.
- 39:21Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you the problem specifically with the
- 39:23Speaker 3: White Sox, because I looked at their list on how
- 39:26Speaker 3: big every staff was behind the scenes.
- 39:28Speaker 1: This guy's going to come over.
- 39:29Speaker 3: The first thing he is going to say and should
- 39:31Speaker 3: say is when they ask him, how do we be
- 39:32Speaker 3: the Brewers?
- 39:33Speaker 1: You need a much bigger staff. You need a.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Much bigger staff. You're not nearly as big as what
- 39:40Speaker 3: Milwaukee has. What's going to be the reaction there? He's
- 39:43Speaker 3: going to be like, yeah, our international scouting staff, we
- 39:45Speaker 3: need about 20 more.
- 39:48Speaker 4: People here but they signed they signed murakami so they
- 39:51Speaker 4: signed murakami they signed.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Murakami he was international by accident.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Thank you david keller.
- 40:05Speaker 3: In the weeds is presented by the fox one app
- 40:07Speaker 3: we've been putting teams to bed throughout october and the
- 40:12Speaker 3: final team we put to bed as the burrs are
- 40:15Speaker 3: the last one standing the race So let's talk about
- 40:18Speaker 3: the Rays from a roster construction standpoint and where they're at,
- 40:22Speaker 3: how they built, what they put together this year, some
- 40:25Speaker 3: of the promising pieces. It wasn't the best postseason for
- 40:28Speaker 3: Junior Caminero, but he's going to be a part of
- 40:30Speaker 3: this team for a while. There's some other young names
- 40:33Speaker 3: that are exciting that should be part of this team
- 40:35Speaker 3: for a while. Even Liam Hicks, actually, who had a
- 40:37Speaker 3: great regular season and a pretty good postseason, should be
- 40:41Speaker 3: part of this team for a while.
- 40:42Speaker 1: He's got a ton of team control.
- 40:43Speaker 3: AJ, on the other side, there are pitchers that could
- 40:46Speaker 3: move on. Freddy Peralta is going to be a free agent.
- 40:49Speaker 3: He wants to come back. He's not coming back unless
- 40:51Speaker 3: he takes a ridiculous discount. They're not going to pay
- 40:54Speaker 3: him what some other teams pay him. And then in
- 40:57Speaker 3: this article by Cody Stavenhagen in The Athletic, he even
- 41:01Speaker 3: mentioned someone like Drew Rasmussen. He said he's on a
- 41:03Speaker 3: club option for next year. So obviously that's going to
- 41:05Speaker 3: get picked up. But then he's a free agent after
- 41:08Speaker 3: next season. And next season also might be shortened. You
- 41:11Speaker 3: know what the Rays do well, just like the Brewers?
- 41:13Speaker 3: They trade away assets while you've got a chance. So
- 41:16Speaker 3: I don't know how his value will look if teams
- 41:18Speaker 3: are worried about what next season looks like, but better
- 41:20Speaker 3: to get something because I think that's a possibility that
- 41:24Speaker 3: they look to shop him.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Absolutely, it's a possibility. Depending on what happens to the CBA,
- 41:31Speaker 4: he could be one of the most valuable pitchers out
- 41:33Speaker 4: there with a year or so, a year left on
- 41:35Speaker 4: his contract. And so I think the Rays do a
- 41:38Speaker 4: really good job of figuring out exactly when to move
- 41:40Speaker 4: a guy and getting a good package and getting what
- 41:42Speaker 4: they can for him. The Brewers do it also. So, yeah,
- 41:44Speaker 4: I think there's a real possibility Drew Rasmussen moves on
- 41:47Speaker 4: because he can get you some stuff now. He can
- 41:49Speaker 4: get you some stuff to keep you going. And, yes,
- 41:52Speaker 4: I will say this, Scott. One thing you did hit
- 41:53Speaker 4: on about the Rays, that some of their stars did
- 41:55Speaker 4: not perform. Yondi wasn't as Yondi. Aranda didn't have a
- 42:01Speaker 4: great postseason. Junior didn't have a great postseason. And, yeah,
- 42:04Speaker 4: Liam Hicks did okay. but their stars didn't show up
- 42:07Speaker 4: when they needed them to. For sure.
- 42:13Speaker 2: I don't know where else you can go with these conversations. Obviously,
- 42:19Speaker 2: you trade Rasmussen before the season starts. You have an
- 42:23Speaker 2: opportunity that the team that picks him up can't give
- 42:27Speaker 2: him a qualifying offer, so there's extra value there. All
- 42:29Speaker 2: that stuff is always– the Rays do a great job
- 42:33Speaker 2: of looking ahead and and getting that value out of there.
- 42:37Speaker 2: But from the outside, you go, what do they want
- 42:40Speaker 2: for Drew Rasmussen? Do they say, we love pitching, we're
- 42:43Speaker 2: going to continue to just hit on our pitching, and
- 42:46Speaker 2: that's what we're good at? Or do they roll the
- 42:49Speaker 2: dice for that one lineup piece? I'm not saying I
- 42:52Speaker 2: know who it is, but that one lineup piece that
- 42:55Speaker 2: would have helped them during this World Series? Because they
- 42:58Speaker 2: obviously didn't need it until then, because they were playing
- 43:00Speaker 2: against a team in the Yankees who they can shut down.
- 43:04Speaker 2: because their offense doesn't handle their pitching. A team in
- 43:07Speaker 2: the Guardians who never hit. And then they ran into
- 43:11Speaker 2: a good team in the Brewers, and they didn't hit. So,
- 43:15Speaker 2: who knows?
- 43:18Speaker 3: And I don't think anyone was matching up with the Brewers' bullpen,
- 43:22Speaker 3: but there was a pretty glaring difference between the Rays'
- 43:24Speaker 3: bullpen and the Brewers' bullpen. And surprisingly, I know the
- 43:27Speaker 3: Rays like to give you different looks and arm angles here,
- 43:30Speaker 3: there wasn't enough velocity in there for a team that,
- 43:33Speaker 3: you know, you figure would have more of that.
- 43:34Speaker 1: So you, it's not easy to find that.
- 43:37Speaker 3: And the Rays aren't buying high priced relievers in the
- 43:39Speaker 3: free agent market, but I'm sure they'll work on their
- 43:42Speaker 3: bullpen a little bit.
- 43:44Speaker 1: That's something that definitely could have been better in the post.
- 43:48Speaker 2: But they ran into something that they don't trade can work.
- 43:50Speaker 2: They ran into something that they don't see. Look what
- 43:53Speaker 2: the Rays face all year in the American league East
- 43:56Speaker 2: Homer Orioles, Homer, Red Sox, Homer, Yankees. They could pitch
- 44:02Speaker 2: to that because of all the different guys' angles. And
- 44:05Speaker 2: the Brewers came in with, I don't know, whatever that
- 44:08Speaker 2: one tweet said, you know, the shallowest bat path, taking
- 44:14Speaker 2: the ball to the opposite field. It kind of negates
- 44:17Speaker 2: what they did really well. If a guy can take
- 44:19Speaker 2: the ball to the opposite field and isn't pulling off
- 44:21Speaker 2: the ball, all of a sudden your league-leading change-ups don't
- 44:24Speaker 2: necessarily play to every batter.
- 44:26Speaker 3: That's a great point. the Brewers are nothing like the
- 44:30Speaker 3: rest of the American League East. And AJ, it's tricky.
- 44:33Speaker 3: If you're the Rays, you have to build your roster
- 44:36Speaker 3: to make the postseason in the best division. So they
- 44:40Speaker 3: clearly found a formula this year that worked to be
- 44:42Speaker 3: the best team in the AL East and the best
- 44:44Speaker 3: team in the American League. But it was not the
- 44:46Speaker 3: right fit against the Brewers.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Who was the right fit against the Brewers? Tell me,
- 44:51Speaker 4: because nobody seems to be able to figure them out.
- 44:54Speaker 3: I think I think they had the best chance. I
- 44:57Speaker 3: really feel that way. We watched the Padres at the
- 45:00Speaker 3: end of the year. They were clicking.
- 45:03Speaker 2: I was there.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I watched them play in the Brewers. Every game was great.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Every game was close. They had a chance, but the
- 45:08Speaker 4: Brewers figured it out because Ashby, McGill, Jojo Romero, and
- 45:12Speaker 4: the same guys, D.L. Hall, Uribe, it was a plethora
- 45:14Speaker 4: of riches. So where do the Rays go from here?
- 45:17Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 45:18Speaker 4: The Rays have always been it. an organization that seems
- 45:20Speaker 4: to figure it out. However they figure it out, I
- 45:23Speaker 4: don't know how sometimes they figure it out, but they
- 45:25Speaker 4: always seem to figure out something, and they seem to
- 45:27Speaker 4: be ahead of the curve. This year was the change-up
- 45:29Speaker 4: thing that they threw. They threw all these change-ups, and
- 45:31Speaker 4: everyone's like, oh, we don't see this many change-ups. But change-ups,
- 45:34Speaker 4: you were big back in the early 2000s, late 90s.
- 45:37Speaker 4: So I don't know what they go to next, but
- 45:40Speaker 4: they did prove one thing. If you play the game
- 45:43Speaker 4: right and you have Kevin Cash and you really pitch
- 45:45Speaker 4: and you really play defense, you can go really deep
- 45:47Speaker 4: into the game. You have a couple stars, Caminero, Yandy.
- 45:50Speaker 4: Whoever else you want to throw in that list, you
- 45:52Speaker 4: can be a really good baseball team. They're really good.
- 45:54Speaker 4: They just ran into the best team. Again, I'm at
- 45:57Speaker 4: a golf course, and I have people saying, did the
- 45:59Speaker 4: right team win? I said, the best team won. The
- 46:02Speaker 4: best team all year won the World Series. Isn't that
- 46:04Speaker 4: what it's supposed to be? The best team won.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Yep.
- 46:07Speaker 3: And they have Chandler Simpson, who is unique, and I'm
- 46:10Speaker 3: glad that they gave him the chance because he's been
- 46:13Speaker 3: great for them. His defense has improved significantly, and he
- 46:16Speaker 3: is a difference maker on offense.
- 46:17Speaker 2: He made some plays.
- 46:18Speaker 4: Man, he did make some plays. That play where he
- 46:21Speaker 4: ran into the wall was sick.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 46:24Speaker 2: It was. The one where he jumped?
- 46:25Speaker 4: The one where he jumped or the one where– yeah. No,
- 46:28Speaker 4: the one he jumped out and, like, faced in the wall.
- 46:31Speaker 4: That was sick play.
- 46:33Speaker 2: It was.
- 46:33Speaker 1: And Aranda's really good, too.
- 46:35Speaker 3: They've been on him for years just trying to figure
- 46:37Speaker 3: out the defensive fit a little bit more, but the
- 46:39Speaker 3: bat really plays.
- 46:40Speaker 4: He was a catcher. Did you know he was a catcher, Graz?
- 46:43Speaker 2: No.
- 46:44Speaker 4: Yeah. Aranda? They tried to make him a catcher.
- 46:48Speaker 2: With that swing, sheesh, no way you can catch him.
- 46:52Speaker 2: When you have a smooth swing like that, they're like, sorry,
- 46:55Speaker 2: no more, no more.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Bring him up, bring him up.
- 47:01Speaker 2: He made a jump offensively. Last year when he was
- 47:04Speaker 2: an all-star, it was like, whoa, this guy could win
- 47:06Speaker 2: a batting title. And then he added power and he
- 47:09Speaker 2: kept the same smooth bat path. He made a jump.
- 47:13Speaker 2: So it's not all bad. It's just bad today because
- 47:17Speaker 2: your team won.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 47:19Speaker 3: And I just want to mention Nick Martinez was the
- 47:21Speaker 3: heart and soul. They should try and get him back.
- 47:23Speaker 1: I know it'll be tough too, but he's 36.
- 47:25Speaker 3: He's probably racking one year deals at this point. They
- 47:27Speaker 3: did pay him, I think 13 and change, maybe some
- 47:30Speaker 3: incentives in there, but I would, I would have a
- 47:32Speaker 3: conversation with him and see if you can talk them
- 47:34Speaker 3: into coming back.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Some guys do want to live in, in that area.
- 47:36Speaker 1: It's beautiful.
- 47:37Speaker 3: And that is a selling point, just like Arizona, Charlie Moore.
- 47:41Speaker 3: There's a selling point with Florida, no, no income tax,
- 47:44Speaker 3: all that, you know, Arizona has some of that and
- 47:46Speaker 3: they do have a little bit of tax.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Florida has none of it. So that can help try
- 47:49Speaker 1: and grab a guy.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Two years, 30 million. They can easily do that for him.
- 47:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I totally agree. Martinez was the guy. He was
- 47:57Speaker 3: a leader in that clubhouse. I would try and bring
- 48:00Speaker 3: him back.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Props to Fox and Fox one covering the world series.
- 48:04Speaker 3: We're giving our thanks to some of our sponsors today,
- 48:06Speaker 3: capping off just a, an awesome run here just now
- 48:09Speaker 3: this month, Fox one had the world series and, They
- 48:13Speaker 3: also have college football, big game on Saturday that I
- 48:17Speaker 3: can talk for hours about, but I'll let the big new.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Kickoff handle it, Wisconsin and Iowa. And then NFL on Sunday. Florida, Georgia,
- 48:27Speaker 1: that's right. Are you going, AJ?
- 48:28Speaker 2: Duh. Oh, yeah. There you go.
- 48:33Speaker 1: So AJ's got Florida, Georgia, good NFL slate. So stream it.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Start your Fox One three-day free trial today at foxone.com.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Hey, we're back.
- 48:42Speaker 3: World Series champions with the best combined regular season and
- 48:46Speaker 3: postseason records in the wildcard era. Kyle Glazer posting this.
- 48:53Speaker 3: 98 Yankees, 125 and 50. But look at the Brewers
- 48:57Speaker 3: on this list, guys.
- 48:58Speaker 1: 114 and 61.
- 48:59Speaker 3: I mean, it's one of the more dominant seasons we've
- 49:04Speaker 3: seen from a team in the 21st century.
- 49:07Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 49:08Speaker 2: That's dominant. It is.
- 49:09Speaker 1: 103 wins.
- 49:14Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, the Yankees won 114 to 98. Red
- 49:17Speaker 3: Sox in 2018 won 108 games. Astros in 2022 won
- 49:21Speaker 3: 106 games. I also saw a stat about the bullpen.
- 49:24Speaker 3: It looked like this was basically the best bullpen performance
- 49:27Speaker 3: in World Series history besides the 2022 Astros.
- 49:33Speaker 1: The 2022 Astros bullpen. Damn.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Look at their numbers too, right? It was before our show.
- 49:38Speaker 3: It was right before our show existed, right? We started
- 49:40Speaker 3: existing in 23. So we didn't look at the game
- 49:44Speaker 3: the same.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Way before that. But, yeah, pretty crazy.
- 49:52Speaker 4: Nice.
- 49:52Speaker 2: 2005 White Sox, by the way. That was against the Phillies, too.
- 49:55Speaker 2: They didn't quite make the adjustment.
- 49:58Speaker 3: No, the Phillies did not adjust to Abreu. That's how
- 50:01Speaker 3: Montero got rich for life. Hadn't done much before. Had
- 50:05Speaker 3: the big little run. Presley was great.
- 50:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 50:10Speaker 2: No hitter.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Good little run.
- 50:12Speaker 3: No hitter for Christian Javier and company right on the
- 50:15Speaker 3: combined no, no.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:17Speaker 3: That was a special run for Houston in 2022.
- 50:20Speaker 1: And that was a redemption season for them.
- 50:23Speaker 3: In terms of, you know, you had a couple of
- 50:25Speaker 3: years before that, the scandal actually coming out and then
- 50:27Speaker 3: everyone's like, oh, they're just a phony.
- 50:29Speaker 1: And then they won in 22.
- 50:29Speaker 3: And it's like, all right, we don't have anything to
- 50:32Speaker 3: make fun of on this one. The world said, so
- 50:35Speaker 3: they just won.
- 50:40Speaker 1: I would say.
- 50:42Speaker 3: We have a system set up right now that's, besides
- 50:46Speaker 3: the reseeding, we can have a conversation about that.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Our system right now is pretty solid.
- 50:50Speaker 3: I mean, the two best teams, and really, what, the
- 50:52Speaker 3: four best teams, the bi-week, or the bi-round teams all
- 50:55Speaker 3: made it through. The system is set up to reward
- 50:58Speaker 3: you for your regular season performance to give you an
- 51:01Speaker 3: edge in the postseason.
- 51:03Speaker 1: It's working.
- 51:04Speaker 2: Crazy, right?
- 51:05Speaker 1: For one year, soon after that, it wasn't working, and
- 51:08Speaker 1: everyone freaked out.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 51:11Speaker 1: I want to play an extra round so I don't
- 51:13Speaker 1: stop screaming.
- 51:14Speaker 9: Not anymore. I like AJ Brzezinski.
- 51:32Speaker 4: Hands up if you do. If you don't, give him
- 51:34Speaker 4: the double bird. I think that's the double bird.
- 51:38Speaker 9: He hates you, AJ.
- 51:39Speaker 4: He hates you.
- 51:40Speaker 9: AJ, he hates you.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Oh, he loves you. He loves AJ. Dang it.
- 51:45Speaker 9: I don't think that's the sign language for it, but
- 51:47Speaker 9: thank you.
- 51:47Speaker 7: Nice.
- 51:49Speaker 3: That's DJ Kitty and his relationship with AJ continuing those
- 51:53Speaker 3: little lovable furries.
- 51:55Speaker 4: By the way, that was from Jay Spandalo, who's the
- 51:57Speaker 4: Fox PR guy. He ran into DJ Kitty again. He
- 52:00Speaker 4: was the one speaking in that. So he sent that
- 52:02Speaker 4: to me last night. I figured we could continue our
- 52:06Speaker 4: love affair.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Love affair?
- 52:07Speaker 9: Yes.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Does he even have five fingers to show the middle finger?
- 52:13Speaker 2: He doesn't, right?
- 52:14Speaker 1: He has four?
- 52:15Speaker 4: All you need is three, though, Scott.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Right, but if he has four, what's the middle one?
- 52:23Speaker 2: He doesn't have fingers, Scott. Let's keep the show paused.
- 52:28Speaker 1: That was cute. Thanks to everyone behind the scenes. We
- 52:36Speaker 1: were on the road in Milwaukee.
- 52:37Speaker 3: We had We had a little bit of action at
- 52:40Speaker 3: the Trop, so good work by everyone behind the scenes
- 52:42Speaker 3: with the FT fam.
- 52:43Speaker 1: For everyone wondering what changes, nothing. This month, if you're.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Watching us on TV, we're still on TV, 1 to
- 52:50Speaker 3: 3 Eastern. I will give one clue that we might
- 52:53Speaker 3: change a little bit of timing when we get to
- 52:56Speaker 3: the lockout, but we're still bringing shows to you every
- 52:58Speaker 3: single day.
- 53:00Speaker 1: That is a promise.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Every single day coverage, and there will be more moves.
- 53:05Speaker 3: I think that's a safe bet too, A.J., I don't
- 53:08Speaker 3: know how many, but there will be more moves than
- 53:10Speaker 3: you see in any other Novembers besides the November heading
- 53:13Speaker 3: into the last lockout. I can't speak to that one,
- 53:16Speaker 3: but there is more activity during this time period to
- 53:18Speaker 3: get stuff done.
- 53:20Speaker 1: More transaction moves. So there's two. One is Tatuya Mai.
- 53:25Speaker 1: John Heyman tweeted is opting in. Duh. That was probably
- 53:31Speaker 1: my biggest miss of the year. I thought he would
- 53:32Speaker 1: be better. I mean, Guys, for me, part of it.
- 53:35Speaker 3: Too, and he said it himself, he severely struggled to
- 53:39Speaker 3: even adjust to the American culture. And that's something that
- 53:45Speaker 3: gets overlooked sometimes. So we'll see how he looks in 2027.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Here's a big one.
- 53:50Speaker 3: This one coming in. I'm seeing this in the rundown
- 53:53Speaker 3: right now. Who tweeted this? Or maybe I can see
- 53:55Speaker 3: this on the fly here.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:58Speaker 3: Bob Nightingale, among others. Adam Jude just put it up.
- 54:01Speaker 3: The Mariners have declined Bryce Miller's option. Bryce Miller had
- 54:05Speaker 3: a $ 6 million option for 2027. Oh, it was an option,
- 54:10Speaker 3: though he remained under club control through 2029. He'll now
- 54:13Speaker 3: reenter the arbitration process. Okay, I misread that. They also
- 54:16Speaker 3: declined their $ 9 million option they held on Victor Robles.
- 54:20Speaker 3: I think Robles will be a free agent. Andres Munoz
- 54:24Speaker 3: has a $ 9 million option. They keep that.
- 54:27Speaker 1: So, yeah, I was going to say, they're cutting Miller?
- 54:32Speaker 1: No freaking way.
- 54:34Speaker 4: They don't think he's going to make $ 6 million, so
- 54:37Speaker 4: they're like, we'll take our chances in arbitration. So clearly
- 54:40Speaker 4: their number will be lower than $ 6 million when they
- 54:42Speaker 4: go to file.
- 54:44Speaker 9: Yes.
- 54:44Speaker 3: So Bryce Miller's staying, but he'll make less. Andres Munoz staying.
- 54:48Speaker 3: Victor Robles not staying. Remember, he was a good story.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Big prospect.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Big.
- 54:54Speaker 1: He was supposed to be a superstar. He was ranked
- 54:57Speaker 1: ahead of Acuna.
- 54:58Speaker 3: And then he actually had some success with the Mariners,
- 55:00Speaker 3: but he's had some injuries and all that, so he'll
- 55:02Speaker 3: hit free agency.
- 55:03Speaker 1: He'll still play next year, but he'll... He'll not make
- 55:05Speaker 1: $ 9 million.
- 55:06Speaker 2: He had like 100 at-bats, and DiPoto was like, extension.
- 55:11Speaker 2: He was like, me? Sure, I'll take it.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that one didn't really work. Yeah.
- 55:19Speaker 3: But we'll be doing that every day. Lots of transaction
- 55:21Speaker 3: news coming up. Dodgers territory is live.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Come on, AJ. Where did we get to see what
- 55:28Speaker 1: the Wilcox do?
- 55:29Speaker 3: Free agents.
- 55:30Speaker 4: Where will Victor go? Make the thing. Make the front end, producer.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Lady, please.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Where will Victor go?
- 55:37Speaker 2: Jerry Reinsdorf is on the clock.
- 55:44Speaker 3: And also, BetMGM players, you can get any sport parlay
