Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: You're listening. Are you listening to Movie Meltdown? I'm Amanda Burse.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I hope so.
- 0:20Speaker 3: This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right,
- 0:23Speaker 3: this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced
- 0:25Speaker 3: with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable
- 0:29Speaker 3: with this level of profanity... perhaps this isn't the episode
- 0:31Speaker 3: for you. But we have many other episodes to choose
- 0:34Speaker 3: from that do not feature Misty and will probably be
- 0:36Speaker 3: far less offensive. Okay, maybe. That having been said, on
- 0:41Speaker 3: with the show.
- 0:41Speaker 4: It's showtime, folks.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Enjoy the show.
- 0:57Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Five more cooling in the containment chambers.
- 1:29Speaker 3: To your stations, we have a movie meltdown.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Why, Marianne!
- 1:33Speaker 6: What are you doing out here?
- 1:34Speaker 7: Marianne!
- 1:35Speaker 6: Don't just do something standard!
- 1:46Speaker 8: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I'm Misty.
- 1:49Speaker 8: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:52Speaker 8: Fanboy Expo in Nashville. How's it going, Misty?
- 1:57Speaker 1: It's a nice day outside.
- 1:58Speaker 3: It is nice.
- 1:59Speaker 8: Nice breeze. We're loitering about the festival grounds. It is
- 2:03Speaker 8: a very different layout than we're used to in most
- 2:05Speaker 8: of these. We hit a lot of conventions. I'm sure
- 2:07Speaker 8: you guys are familiar with that. But yeah, this is
- 2:09Speaker 8: a very different setup here. It's kind of cool. Again,
- 2:14Speaker 8: I said earlier, I was really excited when the place
- 2:16Speaker 8: where we got our tickets had flashing lights and it
- 2:18Speaker 8: said tickets, and it looked like we were at a carnival.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Which, by the way, there is a carnival right across
- 2:22Speaker 1: the parking lot, but they want like $ 5, and I
- 2:24Speaker 1: spent all my money on Donalds.
- 2:26Speaker 8: That's true. You were buying comic books and whatnot.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I did.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I bought like 43 comic books today.
- 2:31Speaker 3: You were out of control.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I can't tell, but they were cool.
- 2:33Speaker 8: They are awesome horror comics, and if you didn't buy them,
- 2:36Speaker 8: I might have stolen most of them.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Nope.
- 2:38Speaker 1: All for me.
- 2:39Speaker 8: Ah, damn it.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I know, right?
- 2:41Speaker 8: Other than that... Dawn Wells touched my hair. We've been
- 2:44Speaker 8: hanging out with Dawn Wells.
- 2:47Speaker 1: She was pretty into it.
- 2:48Speaker 8: She kind of was.
- 2:49Speaker 1: There was questions asked. There was touchy-feely. I was okay
- 2:53Speaker 1: with it, really. If it had been anybody other than Marianne,
- 2:55Speaker 1: I might have been like, whoa, whoa, whoa. But it's Marianne.
- 2:58Speaker 1: You can't tell her no. She's just too damn cute.
- 3:01Speaker 8: You can't, yeah. I mean, it's Marianne for God's sakes.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I know, right? She's just so nice.
- 3:07Speaker 8: She's shaped our lives. Many a childhood has been shaped
- 3:11Speaker 8: and changed and certain people moved into a new area
- 3:15Speaker 8: in their life as a result of Marianne. Probably Ginger too,
- 3:19Speaker 8: but not in my case.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Like they said during the Q & A, there are
- 3:23Speaker 1: two types of people in the world. There are Marianne
- 3:25Speaker 1: people and there are Ginger people. It's never really been
- 3:28Speaker 1: a question to me. It's always been Marianne.
- 3:31Speaker 8: I never even got it. I guess now as I've
- 3:35Speaker 8: gotten older and I look at it more of the again,
- 3:38Speaker 8: they're drawing from a very specific type of movie star.
- 3:41Speaker 8: She was very glamorous.
- 3:42Speaker 1: She was beautiful but she's no goddamn Marianne. I'll tell
- 3:45Speaker 1: you that right now.
- 3:46Speaker 8: They were going for a very movie star bombshell kind
- 3:48Speaker 8: of thing so it i mean she did play that
- 3:50Speaker 8: she did do it relatively well on screen but again
- 3:54Speaker 8: i think i just even as a kid like it
- 3:56Speaker 8: never it never clicked any other way it was always
- 3:58Speaker 8: like wow marianne's.
- 4:00Speaker 9: Pretty and she makes coconut cream pies and the pigtails
- 4:05Speaker 9: and pigtails and she's just awesome i don't know that
- 4:09Speaker 9: was always kind of my take on it but i'm
- 4:12Speaker 9: sure there's somebody out there that that you know That's
- 4:14Speaker 9: a weird ginger thing.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I don't know who they are.
- 4:15Speaker 8: I don't know if I've ever met anyone.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I can tell you one thing right now, and it
- 4:18Speaker 1: comes to who has aged better.
- 4:21Speaker 8: Well, I can't argue with you.
- 4:22Speaker 1: No.
- 4:23Speaker 8: I've seen Deanna Louise in the past, and it was
- 4:25Speaker 8: not all that recently. It's been years now that she
- 4:27Speaker 8: was touring with her book. I'm using quotes. It's a
- 4:31Speaker 8: children's book. There's not all the words.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Hey, that's right up my alley then. Is it a
- 4:33Speaker 1: pop-up book?
- 4:34Speaker 10: No.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Oh, never mind.
- 4:35Speaker 8: No, there was artwork, but no pop-ups.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Oh, never mind.
- 4:39Speaker 8: As someone who doesn't read, I do prefer that it's
- 4:41Speaker 8: a children's book because there's less words, and I process
- 4:43Speaker 8: things like a child, but yeah, I don't know. She
- 4:45Speaker 8: was just so weird and standoffish in her little Q
- 4:49Speaker 8: & A thing, and it was specifically laid out beforehand.
- 4:52Speaker 8: You could not ask anything about Gilligan's Island. You could
- 4:55Speaker 8: not bring Gilligan's Island things for her to sign. Again,
- 4:59Speaker 8: much like Marianne said earlier, her name's Dawn, I realize that,
- 5:02Speaker 8: but in my mind, she's Marianne.
- 5:05Speaker 1: We caught part of it right when we walked in.
- 5:07Speaker 1: She was right smack dab in the middle of her
- 5:09Speaker 1: Q & A, and we got to hear some interesting stories,
- 5:11Speaker 1: which are not on this episode but she seems so
- 5:16Speaker 1: nice and just friendly and fun you know and just
- 5:19Speaker 1: she seemed to enjoy her time on Gilligan's Island as
- 5:23Speaker 1: opposed to some people and.
- 5:24Speaker 8: She yeah again she's like realizes it's part of my
- 5:27Speaker 8: career and it's something that you know millions of people
- 5:30Speaker 8: love it's like you know it is such a beloved
- 5:32Speaker 8: show that like why would you deny them that like
- 5:35Speaker 8: just kind of go along with it and you have
- 5:37Speaker 8: fun too and like that seems like it's always been
- 5:39Speaker 8: her take on it and Now that she's moved into
- 5:43Speaker 8: specifically promoting it and promoting MeTV and all this stuff.
- 5:47Speaker 8: She's got a cookbook. She's got her new book that
- 5:50Speaker 8: she did.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Is it just 50 billion ways on how to make
- 5:52Speaker 1: coconut cream pies?
- 5:53Speaker 8: I would hope so. No, I think one of them,
- 5:55Speaker 8: I was looking earlier, one of them was actually contributed
- 5:59Speaker 8: by Alan Hale Jr. She had a contribution from another
- 6:03Speaker 8: cast that was his grandmother's recipe or something. It really
- 6:05Speaker 8: was part of his life growing up.
- 6:07Speaker 1: If anybody knew how to eat, it was Russell Johnson.
- 6:12Speaker 8: I think he caught up. He was trying to catch
- 6:13Speaker 8: up with Skipper.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I think he surpassed.
- 6:16Speaker 8: Well, he just had longer days.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. During the run of the show,
- 6:19Speaker 1: god damn, the professor was hot. He was on the
- 6:23Speaker 1: Twilight Zone a couple episodes. He was gorgeous.
- 6:26Speaker 8: I can't argue because as a kid, I guess now
- 6:28Speaker 8: it's no surprise because I've grown up to want to
- 6:30Speaker 8: be a mad scientist. But again, my two were the rest. Mine, too,
- 6:35Speaker 8: where I thought Marianne was super cool and, like, the
- 6:37Speaker 8: professor was just awesome. Like, I just wanted to hang
- 6:40Speaker 8: out in his hut and play with the radio and
- 6:42Speaker 8: take it apart and build things, build an atom bomb.
- 6:45Speaker 1: He can't take apart his radio.
- 6:46Speaker 8: He did every week. What are you talking about? That's
- 6:48Speaker 8: how they built a car. But he did it. Banana tree.
- 6:51Speaker 8: I don't know. He built something crazy out of it
- 6:53Speaker 8: every week and then put it back together and it
- 6:55Speaker 8: worked again at the end of the episode. And I'm
- 6:56Speaker 8: not really sure how you get new diodes and whatnot
- 6:58Speaker 8: on our island.
- 7:00Speaker 1: They grow on trees. Probably.
- 7:02Speaker 8: Probably.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I was going to say pine trees, but there was
- 7:04Speaker 1: no pine trees on the island.
- 7:06Speaker 8: On this tropical island of pine trees. But yeah, I
- 7:10Speaker 8: thought he was super cool growing up. And it's sad
- 7:13Speaker 8: now when I look at him because it's so not
- 7:15Speaker 8: my style, if I have any style whatsoever. But I specifically,
- 7:19Speaker 8: when I was a little kid, it was time to like, okay,
- 7:21Speaker 8: your shoes are worn out. Time to go buy new
- 7:22Speaker 8: tennis shoes. I bought the professor's tennis shoes. Like at
- 7:25Speaker 8: that end shot when they're all sitting on the beach.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Did you think that those shoes would somehow bring you
- 7:30Speaker 1: closer to Marianne?
- 7:31Speaker 8: Maybe.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 7:32Speaker 8: And it did. See, it took a lot of years,
- 7:36Speaker 8: but my plan worked. It all came together, hanging out
- 7:40Speaker 8: with Marianne. But yeah, that's my level of geekdom is
- 7:43Speaker 8: I bought the professor's shoes because I thought he was
- 7:46Speaker 8: super cool. I mean, a few years later, I did
- 7:48Speaker 8: it with Marty McFly, too. That's where my footwear choices
- 7:52Speaker 8: were back in the day.
- 7:53Speaker 1: You didn't have those shoes available until like last year,
- 7:55Speaker 1: didn't you?
- 7:56Speaker 8: No, the original ones. Oh, the original shoes.
- 7:58Speaker 1: The original, like, 85, 90s. You don't have the lace-up
- 8:00Speaker 1: ones yet?
- 8:01Speaker 8: Those were pricey.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Not gonna lie, when I was probably 12, I bought
- 8:05Speaker 1: a pair of shoes just because of the slashes from
- 8:06Speaker 1: Guns N' Roses.
- 8:08Speaker 8: That also does not surprise me.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And they didn't actually fit me because they didn't actually
- 8:10Speaker 1: make them in my size, so they were like three
- 8:12Speaker 1: sizes too big. So I had like these jumbo size, like,
- 8:14Speaker 1: Nikes that were like, just like slashes. I still have them.
- 8:18Speaker 8: You should show them the slash. We need to hang on.
- 8:21Speaker 1: The Avengers just walked past. The Avengers and Daredevil and
- 8:24Speaker 1: some green chick just walked past.
- 8:26Speaker 8: She-Hulk, we'll say? We'll go with She-Hulk. Or maybe she's
- 8:31Speaker 8: Gamora from Guardians. There's too many green superheroes, obviously, because
- 8:37Speaker 8: we don't know who this is.
- 8:39Speaker 1: She's still just green. I can't figure that one out.
- 8:43Speaker 8: Is Daredevil's helmet the wrong color?
- 8:46Speaker 1: He was mostly in the dark. We don't know. Oh,
- 8:48Speaker 1: the cape. Oh my god, the cape in the wind
- 8:49Speaker 1: is majestic.
- 8:52Speaker 8: It's a Thor. You sure you don't want to get
- 8:53Speaker 8: a picture of him?
- 8:54Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure. If it was a Loki, maybe. If
- 8:57Speaker 1: he had a Loki with him. Ew. And we all
- 9:01Speaker 1: know I don't like Hawkeye, so he's kind of a
- 9:03Speaker 1: chunky Hawkeye.
- 9:04Speaker 8: Is that the accurate Hawkeye outfit? I'm trying to figure
- 9:06Speaker 8: out what Hawkeye he's going with, because I don't remember
- 9:08Speaker 8: it being like that in either of the movies. Or
- 9:10Speaker 8: the new movie. Or side movies, or side appearances.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Yeah, Daredevil's hat, his helmet doesn't match his outfit.
- 9:17Speaker 8: Yeah, the rest of him is kind of, it's still
- 9:19Speaker 8: a little brighter red, but whatever, I'll let that slide.
- 9:21Speaker 8: But the fact that the helmet's black?
- 9:23Speaker 1: It's a dark burgundy.
- 9:25Speaker 8: It's pretty damn close to black.
- 9:27Speaker 1: He ran around in the dark a lot, that's okay.
- 9:29Speaker 1: He's there, but he can't see.
- 9:31Speaker 8: He didn't know what color it was.
- 9:32Speaker 1: They told him it was red. He couldn't feel the
- 9:35Speaker 1: red of it.
- 9:36Speaker 8: Damn it, Stick. Somehow Stick knew it was wrong. He
- 9:39Speaker 8: also couldn't see, but he knew it was wrong, and
- 9:40Speaker 8: he just waited until he left and laughed and laughed. Probably, yeah,
- 9:44Speaker 8: it's kind of what Stick does.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Uh-oh, Ant-Man.
- 9:48Speaker 8: That's a pretty decent Ant-Man.
- 9:51Speaker 1: He's walking all like he's looking somebody's eyes, too.
- 9:53Speaker 8: He thinks he's super cool.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I liked the dude as a Ghostbuster. That was pretty good.
- 9:57Speaker 8: The dude.
- 9:58Speaker 1: He actually looked like a really good dude.
- 10:02Speaker 8: The dude as a Ghostbuster is currently talking to Ant-Man.
- 10:05Speaker 8: It's pretty exciting.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Are they taking a picture of that at any point?
- 10:07Speaker 8: Oh, they shook hands.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Wow.
- 10:10Speaker 8: It's a momentous moment here at the old Fanboy Expo.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Not something you see every day.
- 10:14Speaker 8: Ghostbusting dude hanging out with Ant-Man. Regular size Ant-Man. Not
- 10:19Speaker 8: super tiny, not super big. Just sort of human-sized. Maybe
- 10:22Speaker 8: slightly shorter than Paul Rudd, but probably not much.
- 10:25Speaker 1: How did you see he canceled at the other convention, like,
- 10:27Speaker 1: a day and a half after he was announced?
- 10:28Speaker 8: Because he has, like, a real career, you know. He's
- 10:29Speaker 8: got to go make Marvel movies and stuff.
- 10:31Speaker 1: He literally canceled, like, the day after I found out
- 10:33Speaker 1: he was supposed to be there.
- 10:34Speaker 8: As soon as I saw it, I was like, wow,
- 10:35Speaker 8: Paul Rudd's coming. That's pretty impressive.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Oh, wait.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Oh, no, wait.
- 10:37Speaker 8: He's actually got movies to make.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Here comes Taylor, Taylor Mayne. Is that his name? Tyler. Tyler, sorry.
- 10:43Speaker 8: Tyler Mayne is hanging out over here.
- 10:44Speaker 1: He's really tall.
- 10:45Speaker 8: He is very tall. He was Sabre King. I guess
- 10:49Speaker 8: that makes you really tall.
- 10:50Speaker 1: He's found a bit of other things other than Sabretooth. He's... No,
- 10:54Speaker 1: he's just Sabretooth. He's one of the.
- 10:55Speaker 8: He's Michael Myers.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Anyways, back to fanboyexpo.com. Yeah, I was... I don't think
- 11:03Speaker 1: they play this one that often, so I didn't know
- 11:05Speaker 1: what to expect. I know that the one in Knoxville,
- 11:08Speaker 1: they usually have a more expanded... Authorian of the Court.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Roster?
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah, roster. It seems like the one in... I guess
- 11:17Speaker 1: because Knoxville has been going on longer... So if you
- 11:20Speaker 1: live in the area, I would check it out because
- 11:21Speaker 1: they are very well run from what I can tell
- 11:23Speaker 1: from this one experience, which is obvious enough to judge
- 11:26Speaker 1: everything by. They seem very well organized, well put together.
- 11:31Speaker 1: No hassles, no pain in the ass bullshit. It wasn't,
- 11:36Speaker 1: which some of them have been.
- 11:37Speaker 8: There were signs on the doors. It had arrows. Believe me,
- 11:39Speaker 8: there's many a convention I've been to where I'm like,
- 11:41Speaker 8: where are we supposed to go? How hard is it
- 11:44Speaker 8: to just make sign on a door or an arrow
- 11:46Speaker 8: that says hey if you're looking for this thing it's
- 11:47Speaker 8: this way.
- 11:48Speaker 1: There are maps they warned you there was going to
- 11:50Speaker 1: be runners runners.
- 11:52Speaker 8: There was a a race of some sort some sort
- 11:55Speaker 8: of a marathon if you will marathon going on which
- 11:58Speaker 8: again has happened we we yell at lexington every time
- 12:01Speaker 8: we go there because they put four other events on.
- 12:03Speaker 1: While we're there at the exact same place at the.
- 12:05Speaker 8: Exact well they only have one place i mean come
- 12:07Speaker 8: on That little downtown area.
- 12:08Speaker 1: They usually have, like, the running marathon or the biking marathon,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and it's right through the middle of fucking downtown, and
- 12:13Speaker 1: it's a pain in the ass, and I'm sorry, Lexington,
- 12:15Speaker 1: I like you dearly, but calm that shit down. Spread
- 12:18Speaker 1: it out a little bit. Do something one day, do
- 12:19Speaker 1: something the next day, or at least stagger the times
- 12:22Speaker 1: or something so not everybody's trying to go in and
- 12:24Speaker 1: go out at the same time, you know? Just a
- 12:26Speaker 1: little bit courtesy for everybody else.
- 12:27Speaker 8: We don't have that here. They have a carnival going
- 12:29Speaker 8: on at the same time. It's way over there. It's
- 12:30Speaker 8: not interrupting this situation at all.
- 12:33Speaker 1: But the fact that they warned you on the website,
- 12:34Speaker 1: on their Facebook page, they were like, hey, whoa, guys.
- 12:38Speaker 1: there's something going on if you go the wrong road
- 12:41Speaker 1: you will and there was no profanities because everything in
- 12:45Speaker 1: my head involves profanities in my head it was like
- 12:47Speaker 1: you will get fucked.
- 12:51Speaker 8: That is a very specific warning.
- 12:53Speaker 1: But anyway so it's like we we paid attention to
- 12:55Speaker 1: the warnings we came in close to the right entrance
- 13:00Speaker 1: we were.
- 13:00Speaker 8: In the vicinity of the right entrance we were just
- 13:02Speaker 8: surprised because we were like look There's a Ferris wheel.
- 13:05Speaker 8: And we got all excited.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I don't do Ferris wheel carnivals. If they had a
- 13:08Speaker 1: freak show, you know I'd be over there right now.
- 13:10Speaker 8: Freak shows and corn dogs. You eat the corn off
- 13:12Speaker 8: my dog all the time.
- 13:13Speaker 1: That sounded way gross.
- 13:15Speaker 8: I'm just saying. It's happened many a festival.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Anytime anybody gets a corn dog, I'm like, hey, can
- 13:21Speaker 1: I get a piece of that corn? I hate hot dogs.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Hot dogs are disgusting.
- 13:25Speaker 8: Love cornbread. I love corn.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Dude, if they could just dip the stick in the cornbread.
- 13:30Speaker 8: If you could just dip your hand in the breading.
- 13:34Speaker 1: No, they take the stick and dip it in the
- 13:36Speaker 1: corn batter like 40 times until it's like the size
- 13:40Speaker 1: and shape of a corn dog, but just corn bread.
- 13:42Speaker 8: Then it's just going to get hard in the middle, though.
- 13:45Speaker 8: What is it that you want instead of that? Maybe
- 13:47Speaker 8: like a banana dipped in corn bread?
- 13:49Speaker 1: I don't like bananas either.
- 13:50Speaker 8: They have more texture. What else can we put on
- 13:51Speaker 8: a stick for you that you can then deep fry
- 13:53Speaker 8: with the batter so you can experience the corn?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Piece of steak. I like meat.
- 13:59Speaker 8: God bless America.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I like meat, but not hot dog meat.
- 14:03Speaker 8: Well, it's not really meat.
- 14:05Speaker 1: It's a very, very odd combination of things that.
- 14:08Speaker 8: Are probably not at all edible. It's not of this universe.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't think of anything that would actually be okay.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I like corn. Edith Corn.
- 14:16Speaker 8: Corn dipped in corn with extra corn sprinkled on top.
- 14:20Speaker 1: I love fairies. If they weren't five bucks to walk
- 14:22Speaker 1: over there. I think all they have is rides, and
- 14:25Speaker 1: that's just... Whatever.
- 14:27Speaker 8: Shoddy rides that may or may not kill you.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I love amusement parks. I love plug holiday world,
- 14:35Speaker 1: but amusement parks like fairs or any kind of shoddily
- 14:40Speaker 1: thrown together.
- 14:40Speaker 8: Up for a weekend kind of amusement.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yes. I'm always like, oh my God. How has nobody
- 14:46Speaker 1: else died on this? Somebody's going to die this weekend
- 14:47Speaker 1: and it sure as shit ain't going.
- 14:48Speaker 11: To be me.
- 14:49Speaker 8: I mean, they probably have, but that's why they move
- 14:51Speaker 8: from town to town. So you can't track them down
- 14:53Speaker 8: or the news story goes far enough away that you
- 14:56Speaker 8: don't know and you get suckered right in to be
- 14:58Speaker 8: the next victim.
- 14:59Speaker 1: And I doubt that this one has the carny who
- 15:00Speaker 1: sounds like Tom Waits.
- 15:01Speaker 8: Probably not. I don't know if he tours extensively with different.
- 15:05Speaker 8: He probably has that one group that he goes with.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I don't know. We don't know who's over there. It
- 15:08Speaker 1: could be him.
- 15:09Speaker 8: You better go investigate.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It could be that one guy that found me and
- 15:12Speaker 1: Jay at the... At the fair last time, the one
- 15:13Speaker 1: time that I dragged Jay to the fair, which he
- 15:15Speaker 1: was absolutely miserable, let me tell you. We were sitting
- 15:19Speaker 1: there enjoying whatever fair food was going to internally kill
- 15:23Speaker 1: us later. So you guys like to party? By party,
- 15:28Speaker 1: I mean get high.
- 15:28Speaker 8: Alright, so he's smooth is what you're saying. Not just subtle,
- 15:34Speaker 8: but smooth.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Smooth as broken glass. The fact that he clarified. It
- 15:41Speaker 1: wasn't even like I put that in there. It was
- 15:43Speaker 1: just that pause. And by party, I mean get high.
- 15:46Speaker 8: Joey Tribbiani. The subtle smoothness of Joey Tribbiani.
- 15:52Speaker 1: But all in all, I would highly recommend this. Two
- 15:54Speaker 1: thumbs up.
- 15:55Speaker 8: For Handboy Expo. We did come here specifically pretty much
- 15:59Speaker 8: for one purpose. I mean, really. I kind of saw
- 16:03Speaker 8: some other people.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I have been waiting all week. I'm like, if she cancels,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I'm not fucking going. If she cancels, I'm out. If
- 16:08Speaker 1: she pulls a fucking Mark Singer on me.
- 16:10Speaker 8: We're still... We're not over it, Mark. And you really
- 16:14Speaker 8: need to put this together with us. Like, just get
- 16:15Speaker 8: a hold of us. We both have Beastmaster one-sheets waiting
- 16:20Speaker 8: for you to sign.
- 16:21Speaker 1: If I had a Beastmaster onesie, that would be the
- 16:23Speaker 1: most amazing thing in all the land.
- 16:25Speaker 8: Sadly, I can see you wearing it probably out to
- 16:28Speaker 8: a convention.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Dude!
- 16:31Speaker 8: You'd be like, what?
- 16:32Speaker 3: It's comfortable.
- 16:35Speaker 8: You'd sit over in the corner reading comic books in
- 16:37Speaker 8: your Beastmaster onesie.
- 16:38Speaker 1: That would be amazing. If anybody out there has some
- 16:41Speaker 1: strings to pull, my birthday is in October. Beastmaster onesie.
- 16:45Speaker 8: Get on it, people.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Fucking A.
- 16:47Speaker 8: But, yes, we've had a few times that people have canceled,
- 16:51Speaker 8: and it's just broken our hearts.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I did have to tell one girl. I had to
- 16:54Speaker 1: break some girl's heart in there.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Uh-oh.
- 16:56Speaker 1: She was like, have you seen Taylor Scout Compton? And
- 16:59Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, she canceled. She's like, oh. The death
- 17:03Speaker 1: girl who was diagnosed with, not death, but death. She
- 17:05Speaker 1: was dressed as death.
- 17:06Speaker 8: Dressed as death.
- 17:07Speaker 1: All right.
- 17:07Speaker 8: Clarify.
- 17:07Speaker 1: The one who was waiting to get Taylor, Tyler, whatever the, Taylor.
- 17:11Speaker 8: Tyler Mayne.
- 17:13Speaker 10: Tyler Mayne.
- 17:13Speaker 1: She was waiting to get his autograph. He was really
- 17:14Speaker 1: nice to her.
- 17:15Speaker 8: He was very nice. The few times that, again, I
- 17:18Speaker 8: followed him to a film screening once.
- 17:20Speaker 1: But yeah, she was very, she seemed very disappointed. And
- 17:22Speaker 1: I'm just like, it was on their website in tiny print.
- 17:26Speaker 1: But yeah, she was kind of sad. But I mean,
- 17:28Speaker 1: other than that, I mean, I don't think they had.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I guess because they didn't have as big a lineup
- 17:32Speaker 1: as a lot of places do, that there weren't as
- 17:34Speaker 1: many cancellations. I think as far as I'm concerned, this
- 17:38Speaker 1: is very small compared to Horror Hound or.
- 17:43Speaker 8: Wizard World.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Wizard World.
- 17:45Speaker 8: Any of the huge operations.
- 17:47Speaker 1: That's not knocking it. It's still well-organized. It's still friendly.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I can see it growing, so... I guess they didn't
- 17:55Speaker 1: have as many chances for as many to cancel. When
- 17:57Speaker 1: you get a whorehound and it's like a cancellation every week,
- 18:00Speaker 1: people are cursing at it. I'm like, it's not their fault.
- 18:03Speaker 8: This is all business. That's how this works.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Paul Rudd.
- 18:08Speaker 8: He has Marvel movies to make, damn it.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I know.
- 18:11Speaker 8: It's going to be in Ragnarok or something.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Is Loki going to be in that one? Because I
- 18:15Speaker 1: might actually watch it. He is.
- 18:15Speaker 8: I checked it out.
- 18:16Speaker 1: He's his last one. Is it? He's going to be
- 18:18Speaker 1: Loki in one more movie. And that's going to be it.
- 18:20Speaker 8: How is there not a Loki spinoff movie for all
- 18:23Speaker 8: you crazy fangirls?
- 18:24Speaker 1: Oh my god. It would be on constant rotation in
- 18:26Speaker 1: our house. Boyfriend probably wrote them a letter.
- 18:29Speaker 8: He would be like, oh, I hate that guy.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Boyfriend has probably written them a letter. Like, if you
- 18:32Speaker 1: make this movie, I will hunt you all down.
- 18:34Speaker 8: He's like, I will stop making knives and pick up
- 18:37Speaker 8: some of my finished knives and come after you all.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Hock-a-nay. But yeah, I like this. Like I said, it
- 18:42Speaker 1: was easy to get to. That's a big thing for me.
- 18:44Speaker 1: It's easy to get to. There was lots of parking.
- 18:46Speaker 8: That is a plus, actually. I can't argue.
- 18:49Speaker 1: There are some where it's just like, when you get
- 18:51Speaker 1: to the bigger ones, and it's like everybody and their
- 18:54Speaker 1: grandparents are there. Because their name is just their mother.
- 18:56Speaker 1: It's their whole family. And it's just, there's parking. You
- 18:58Speaker 1: have to park like five miles away by some Palestinian
- 19:02Speaker 1: strip club.
- 19:03Speaker 8: Hey, that's where we parked last night. I know, exactly.
- 19:06Speaker 8: I was like, that was kind of how I described
- 19:08Speaker 8: it all day.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I was not even sure what it was. I probably
- 19:10Speaker 1: just offended a whole bunch of people.
- 19:13Speaker 8: They're not strippers? I don't know how this works. Let's
- 19:15Speaker 8: just move on.
- 19:18Speaker 11: Oh, Mary, can I take you home tonight?
- 19:23Speaker 4: Oh, baby, can I take you home tonight?
- 19:31Speaker 11: If you let me be, I'll make everything all right.
- 19:42Speaker 11: .
- 19:45Speaker 1: I got a feeling.
- 19:41Speaker 11: Good evening.

- 20:16Speaker 7: to get out to the movies.
- 20:22Speaker 12: While parked on a lonely country road on March 3, 1946,
- 20:26Speaker 12: Samuel Fuller, age 24, and Linda Mae Jenkins, 19, were
- 20:30Speaker 12: attacked by a man wearing a white hood over his head.
- 20:33Speaker 12: They were dragged from their car and beaten, but both survived.
- 20:37Speaker 12: Then on March 24, 1946, he struck again. This time,
- 20:41Speaker 12: his victims were found dead. Only 21 days later, April 14, 1946,
- 20:46Speaker 12: he killed Roy Allen, 17, and Peggy Loomis, only 15,
- 20:49Speaker 12: in a city park. Yet he was to strike again
- 20:53Speaker 12: and again. He was called the Phantom Killer. Now, 30
- 20:57Speaker 12: years later, most believe he still walks the streets of Texarkana, Arkansas.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Charles B.
- 21:02Speaker 12: Pierce brings to the giant screen one of the most
- 21:04Speaker 12: incredible true stories ever filmed. The Town That Dreaded Sundown.

- 22:31Speaker 3: enough movies.
- 22:32Speaker 9: All of life's riddles are.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Answered in the movies.
- 22:36Speaker 7: And now, on with the show.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Even little children love Miriam.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Down by the seaside sits a son.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Oh, Miriam, oh, Miriam, won't you marry me?
- 23:07Speaker 1: We can settle down.
- 23:09Speaker 2: And have some brandy in our tea.
- 23:12Speaker 7: So, Dawn Wells.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Adorable.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Adorable.
- 23:14Speaker 4: Delightful.
- 23:16Speaker 1: And Those earrings were ridiculous, though. I think it hurt
- 23:45Speaker 1: me just looking at them. They were like door knockers.
- 23:47Speaker 8: I don't know. I think that every time girls are
- 23:49Speaker 8: wearing giant or just dangly earrings, I'm like, that seems
- 23:53Speaker 8: like trouble.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I'm not knocking door knockers.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Oh, get out.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I'm not knocking her in any way. I swear. They
- 24:01Speaker 1: hurt me to look at them.
- 24:03Speaker 8: Super girly girl that you are. You didn't want to
- 24:05Speaker 8: wear her earrings.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I could have probably. She probably didn't let me. She
- 24:08Speaker 1: took them off.
- 24:08Speaker 8: She was like, oh, these are heavy. She probably would have.
- 24:13Speaker 8: We can go back and see if you want to.
- 24:14Speaker 1: They're pretty awesome. They do kind of remind me of
- 24:16Speaker 1: the knockers from Labyrinth.
- 24:20Speaker 8: Do you think Muppets would have sprung up if we
- 24:22Speaker 8: would have been like.
- 24:23Speaker 10: Can we touch those earrings?
- 24:24Speaker 1: They might very well have.
- 24:25Speaker 8: Actually, we would have been escorted from these premises.
- 24:27Speaker 3: They would.
- 24:29Speaker 8: But we weren't, and we talked to her.
- 24:31Speaker 1: We haven't left the premises yet. The day is not done.
- 24:33Speaker 8: That's true. We could still be forcefully escorted off. We
- 24:35Speaker 8: will be taken out of the carnival by the time
- 24:37Speaker 8: we're done.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Is Marianne specifically going to kick us out? Is she
- 24:41Speaker 1: going to grab us by our ears? Because I can
- 24:42Speaker 1: picture her grabbing us by our ears and dragging us out.
- 24:46Speaker 8: What did I tell you to? Stop it. Get out
- 24:48Speaker 8: of here.
- 24:51Speaker 1: She was delightful.
- 24:53Speaker 8: She was.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Like I said, that was the reason. Like I said,
- 24:55Speaker 1: I was watching the page all week. I'm like, I
- 24:57Speaker 1: hear one worry about it.
- 25:00Speaker 8: As we've said many a time, as many of these
- 25:03Speaker 8: things as I've gone to over the years, I've never
- 25:06Speaker 8: seen her. I think she's done appearances, but just not
- 25:09Speaker 8: this far in, I guess.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I think she'll be at the Knoxville one if anybody
- 25:12Speaker 1: in that area can check it out. Encouraging her to
- 25:16Speaker 1: come back more frequently.
- 25:17Speaker 8: If you're listening going, damn, why didn't I get to
- 25:19Speaker 8: talk to Dawn Wells? Well, you know, you just need
- 25:21Speaker 8: to get on the ball and get yourself there at
- 25:23Speaker 8: the Knoxville location. And probably many other future upcoming shows
- 25:28Speaker 8: but we definitely know knoxville is next on the list
- 25:31Speaker 8: but since we talked to her i think we should
- 25:33Speaker 8: let you guys listen to our conversation yes if they
- 25:38Speaker 8: can keep the music down it's the pain of my
- 25:42Speaker 8: existence at this point is just fighting with you just
- 25:45Speaker 8: need to bring.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Your own personal sound.
- 25:47Speaker 8: Booth with you and just tone of silence okay that's
- 25:49Speaker 8: what i want i want Well, they didn't work so
- 25:51Speaker 8: well on the show, but to reference another show of
- 25:55Speaker 8: that era, I want a cone of silence for all
- 25:57Speaker 8: of my interviews. I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 25:59Speaker 8: You kids and your crazy records and bubblegum. Back in
- 26:03Speaker 8: the day, we had a show called Get Smart, and
- 26:06Speaker 8: when they had to tell secrets, they went in the
- 26:09Speaker 8: cone of silence, which was a giant dome that would
- 26:11Speaker 8: come down over their heads, and then they couldn't hear
- 26:14Speaker 8: each other.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Sounds dumb.
- 26:16Speaker 8: Damn you. Don't talk smack about Get Smart. But now,
- 26:22Speaker 8: we're actually going to talk to someone who is not...
- 26:24Speaker 8: I don't think she was on Get Smart.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I don't think she was ever on the Twilight Zone either.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Which I was surprised. Everybody was on the Twilight Zone.
- 26:30Speaker 8: You would think. At some point, she would have crossed over. But, yes.
- 26:34Speaker 8: Let's go talk to Dawn Wells.
- 26:45Speaker 2: It's fun girls fate would have her shipwrecked.
- 26:50Speaker 4: On an island gladly.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Lending domestic skills making fields and surf and land with
- 27:01Speaker 2: a smile she's that wholesome best friend the all-american.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Girl the millionaires and the best sweetheart the.
- 27:13Speaker 11: Girl with.
- 27:34Speaker 8: So uh you were born in reno were you.
- 27:37Speaker 10: Fourth generation reno nevada my great-great-grandfather drove stagecoach during the
- 27:42Speaker 10: gold rush that goes back a ways i'm a western
- 27:45Speaker 10: girl well.
- 27:47Speaker 8: And then i i usually try to get a handle
- 27:49Speaker 8: for people like early on when you were young were
- 27:51Speaker 8: you really into like the arts or did.
- 27:54Speaker 10: It come later Well, I originally wanted to be a ballerina.
- 27:57Speaker 10: I love dance. I'd rather be a ballerina than anything.
- 28:00Speaker 10: I was doing a rangete and my knee dislocated and
- 28:03Speaker 10: I landed on my face.
- 28:05Speaker 8: That's not good.
- 28:06Speaker 10: I've never played a sport. I've never been able to
- 28:08Speaker 10: because my knee's dislocated. Now I probably could have knee replacements.
- 28:11Speaker 10: You know, you didn't have that then. But I was
- 28:13Speaker 10: a debater. I was public speaking. And I really wasn't
- 28:17Speaker 10: interested in theater at all. And as I've written a
- 28:19Speaker 10: book and as I was putting, you know, who I
- 28:22Speaker 10: am and what together, I thought, Why do I analyze
- 28:25Speaker 10: the way I analyze life? And I really think, now
- 28:28Speaker 10: I don't have children, but I really think those formative
- 28:30Speaker 10: years in your life, you start forming what you are.
- 28:33Speaker 10: And I always take both sides of something. If you'll
- 28:35Speaker 10: say something, I'll take the opposite opinion. And just to
- 28:38Speaker 10: clarify where we are, not necessarily passionately, but I think
- 28:41Speaker 10: that's because I was a debater. So when I went
- 28:44Speaker 10: away to college, I couldn't take PE other than canoeing
- 28:47Speaker 10: and swimming and golf. I couldn't do much. So I
- 28:50Speaker 10: took a theater course. And I went to Stevens, which
- 28:53Speaker 10: is all women. And my professor said, you're really good.
- 28:56Speaker 10: You ought to major in this. It was a two-year
- 28:58Speaker 10: school at the time. I went, are you kidding me?
- 29:00Speaker 10: An out-of-work actor?
- 29:01Speaker 1: No.
- 29:02Speaker 10: But I went to the University of Washington because it
- 29:03Speaker 10: had a great med school and a great theater department.
- 29:06Speaker 10: So I double majored. And when I graduated, I gave
- 29:09Speaker 10: myself about, I said, two years. Couldn't go to New
- 29:13Speaker 10: York because I don't sing. So I went to L.A.,
- 29:14Speaker 10: didn't want to be a movie star. I wanted to work. Instead,
- 29:16Speaker 10: I'll give myself two years. And if I don't work,
- 29:18Speaker 10: I'll go back to med school. And I went to
- 29:20Speaker 10: work right away. So I was well-trained and I was
- 29:22Speaker 10: a perfect type.
- 29:24Speaker 8: And then you ended up in the beauty pageants. Was
- 29:27Speaker 8: that something that started early on for you?
- 29:29Speaker 10: Well, I was in college at Washington, and the Soroptimus
- 29:33Speaker 10: Club in Reno said they wanted me to run for
- 29:35Speaker 10: Miss Nevada.
- 29:36Speaker 8: I went, what?
- 29:37Speaker 10: I'm short? What do you mean? Well, just do it.
- 29:39Speaker 10: And I thought, whatever. a scholarship to college. Miss America
- 29:41Speaker 10: is a scholarship. And I thought, okay, I'm majoring in drama.
- 29:44Speaker 10: Can I get up in front of a bunch of
- 29:45Speaker 10: people and do a scene from, I don't know what
- 29:47Speaker 10: the play was. And so I entered, having no idea
- 29:51Speaker 10: that I'd win. And then going to the Miss America
- 29:53Speaker 10: pageant was quite an experience. It was compared to the
- 29:57Speaker 10: pageants today. I mean, everything had to be real. Couldn't
- 29:59Speaker 10: dye hair, no implants, not allowed to talk to a man.
- 30:03Speaker 10: We couldn't say thank you to the elevator operator. It
- 30:05Speaker 10: was so strict. And now you see them all there
- 30:08Speaker 10: in bikinis and all that stuff. But I got a scholarship.
- 30:10Speaker 10: I mean, I didn't win it, of course, but I
- 30:12Speaker 10: got a scholarship. It was good training.
- 30:14Speaker 8: Well, and you're still kind of active. Aren't you judging
- 30:17Speaker 8: on certain ones over the years now?
- 30:19Speaker 10: Judging pageants? Yeah, I have.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I have.
- 30:24Speaker 8: Again, with all the changes, it still seems like a
- 30:26Speaker 8: good entryway for girls and women to get into, I guess,
- 30:31Speaker 8: getting the scholarship?
- 30:33Speaker 10: I don't even know if the Miss America pageant is
- 30:35Speaker 10: the same anymore. The beauty contests have gotten all out
- 30:37Speaker 10: of hand. It is beauty, yes, that is true, and
- 30:40Speaker 10: there are some gorgeous people. Is there much talent? I
- 30:43Speaker 10: don't know. I can't criticize. I'm not into it anymore.
- 30:47Speaker 8: I mean, again, with the scholarships, it's nice when they
- 30:50Speaker 8: sort of put more emphasis on the education part of
- 30:54Speaker 8: it and ask smart questions, which it would be nice
- 30:56Speaker 8: if it gets more to that. It feels like it's
- 30:59Speaker 8: kind of lost its way over the years.
- 31:00Speaker 10: I think because it's kind of international. And when you
- 31:03Speaker 10: get the international, each country has a different perspective. If
- 31:06Speaker 10: you just talk to America about, wouldn't you like to
- 31:08Speaker 10: see what's going on right now for the Miss America budget?
- 31:10Speaker 10: How do you think of the election?
- 31:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 31:13Speaker 10: It's a different thing now.
- 31:14Speaker 8: Let's not talk about that.
- 31:15Speaker 10: No, no, let's not. What elections?
- 31:17Speaker 8: My question. Well, then I guess as you get into,
- 31:20Speaker 8: you start getting into acting, is it, because talking to
- 31:24Speaker 8: people over the years, it is interesting how people sort
- 31:26Speaker 8: of gravitate toward, I guess, what they want to do
- 31:30Speaker 8: or sometimes what the work will provide. I mean, versus film, TV, theater.
- 31:36Speaker 8: Is it one of those, as you went into it,
- 31:37Speaker 8: was it just sort of what presented itself or did
- 31:39Speaker 8: you have a specific direction of where you wanted to go?
- 31:42Speaker 10: Well, first of all, you try to find an agent,
- 31:45Speaker 10: and how does that happen? And you sort of learn
- 31:46Speaker 10: what the ropes are. I auditioned for a play, because
- 31:50Speaker 10: that was my training, with Mercedes McCambridge, who's an incredible actress,
- 31:53Speaker 10: and Leon Ames, and I got the lead, the young lead.
- 31:56Speaker 10: So then agents came to see me. So I was acting,
- 31:59Speaker 10: not just getting my picture taken. And I had a
- 32:02Speaker 10: very small little agent, and he sent me to Warner
- 32:05Speaker 10: Brothers with an interview with Jack Warner. And Jack Warner
- 32:09Speaker 10: called him the next day, and he said, I just
- 32:12Speaker 10: want to say, This is the first time I've ever
- 32:14Speaker 10: had an intelligent conversation with an actress. And I've always...
- 32:18Speaker 10: Because I wasn't having to be in the movies at all.
- 32:20Speaker 10: We got talking about, not politics particularly, but my training
- 32:23Speaker 10: or something. And they put me under option for contract,
- 32:26Speaker 10: meaning they had contract players then. But I was under
- 32:28Speaker 10: option for about six months. They didn't pick up the option,
- 32:31Speaker 10: but I did every show. And in that day and age,
- 32:33Speaker 10: you never knew what you were like on camera until
- 32:35Speaker 10: six weeks it came on air. So I had a
- 32:38Speaker 10: really good training where that was concerned.
- 32:40Speaker 8: Yeah, that is impressive that you... And goes to show
- 32:43Speaker 8: up-and-coming actors, you know, it's better to not just be pretty,
- 32:46Speaker 8: but have a little something on the ball. You can
- 32:48Speaker 8: actually have a conversation with the producer.
- 32:50Speaker 10: Well, and I ran a film actress boot camp, as
- 32:53Speaker 10: I said. It's called show business. Read your contracts. What
- 32:57Speaker 10: does it take? Yes, okay, we've all got talent, but
- 32:59Speaker 10: what makes you successful? What makes you stick to it?
- 33:02Speaker 10: What makes you... I know a lot of artists are
- 33:04Speaker 10: kind of crazy. You can't be very crazy in film.
- 33:06Speaker 10: It's very tiring. It's very specific. I mean, I remember
- 33:10Speaker 10: my first thing I did was a 77 Sunset Strip.
- 33:13Speaker 10: And Louis Quinn was the race tout or whatever you
- 33:16Speaker 10: call him. And it was a scene in a coffee shop.
- 33:19Speaker 10: And he said to me, there were six of us
- 33:20Speaker 10: at a table or something. And as an actor on stage,
- 33:23Speaker 10: you kind of feel it, you know. And I pick
- 33:26Speaker 10: up my coffee cup and drink it. And he said
- 33:27Speaker 10: to me, now, when they come in for a close-up,
- 33:29Speaker 10: you've got to pick up the coffee cup at the
- 33:31Speaker 10: exact same moment and swallow it. And I said, why?
- 33:33Speaker 10: He said, because they've got to edit it. I didn't
- 33:35Speaker 10: know that. He said, if you did that two or
- 33:37Speaker 10: three times wrong, you cost a lot of money. So
- 33:39Speaker 10: it's technique in addition to talent. I mean, I look at, like,
- 33:42Speaker 10: Leonard DiCaprio with all that ice and all that stuff
- 33:46Speaker 10: or Sandra Bullock and that. You know, that's also physical.
- 33:49Speaker 10: It isn't just the talent. It's a lot to it,
- 33:51Speaker 10: a lot more than you think.
- 33:52Speaker 8: On the whole thing, like you said, the business end
- 33:54Speaker 8: of it, it's also learning your medium. And, like, again,
- 33:57Speaker 8: if you're a stage actor, you don't understand that. what's
- 34:00Speaker 8: expected of you as you get into television or film.
- 34:03Speaker 8: Each one kind of has its own specific little thing.
- 34:05Speaker 8: So it is what you have to learn.
- 34:07Speaker 10: Well, it's sort of the rules, but the essence of
- 34:09Speaker 10: the talent and how you approach the character is the same.
- 34:12Speaker 10: It's just that you're driving a truck or a Studebaker.
- 34:14Speaker 10: You know, you don't know.
- 34:15Speaker 8: Well, occasionally you're given those amazing characters. I guess, how
- 34:19Speaker 8: did you first get introduced to Marianne?
- 34:22Speaker 10: That was kind of a natural almost. I was an
- 34:24Speaker 10: ingenue and doing all the shows, whatever they were. And
- 34:28Speaker 10: every girl in the world, when they replaced the three
- 34:30Speaker 10: original characters that were all schoolteachers and rewrote, every ingenue
- 34:34Speaker 10: in the world was auditioning. So I just went in,
- 34:37Speaker 10: you know, with probably 200 girls, and they keep eliminating
- 34:40Speaker 10: and eliminating. They want a chemistry between the people. The
- 34:44Speaker 10: professor and I were cast in Los Angeles, and Ginger
- 34:46Speaker 10: was cast in New York City.
- 34:48Speaker 8: And then, I guess... How quickly did you take to her?
- 34:52Speaker 8: Did you feel like you brought a lot of you
- 34:54Speaker 8: to that role, or was she already written as something
- 34:57Speaker 8: you could kind of latch on to?
- 34:59Speaker 10: Well, I don't think there was any exceptional writing with
- 35:02Speaker 10: any of it. I mean, there wasn't a great deal
- 35:05Speaker 10: of wit. There wasn't a great deal of... Now, you know,
- 35:07Speaker 10: a lot of the stuff is really funny. I mean,
- 35:09Speaker 10: two and a half minutes, one joke after the other,
- 35:11Speaker 10: and if the audience doesn't laugh, the writers are down there,
- 35:15Speaker 10: and they try it again with the audience, and they
- 35:17Speaker 10: try it again. That's on your feet. With what we
- 35:20Speaker 10: were doing, it was all scripted. The essence of who
- 35:23Speaker 10: you are, you know that character. I mean, it isn't
- 35:25Speaker 10: anything really dramatic. There's no real breakdowns. It's comedy. And
- 35:29Speaker 10: you can't... Some people can't be funny. You can't have
- 35:33Speaker 10: that timing or you don't.
- 35:34Speaker 8: And it was one of those, like, going back and
- 35:36Speaker 8: re-watching it now, some of the stuff is written so
- 35:38Speaker 8: smartly that, like, I don't think people remember. Like, you
- 35:41Speaker 8: remember the funny gags and the physical bits, but, like,
- 35:44Speaker 8: there's some jokes that they snuck in there that I'm like, that's...
- 35:47Speaker 8: kind of racy for its time and like they're just
- 35:50Speaker 8: moments when I'm just like that's you can tell like
- 35:52Speaker 8: there's smart writing going on that they're kind of like
- 35:55Speaker 8: sneaking in under underneath the crazy stuff going on every week.
- 35:58Speaker 10: Well I don't think we were I don't think we
- 35:59Speaker 10: were edgy very edgy but imagine if you're a comedy
- 36:03Speaker 10: writer there's a real cute story about Sherwood Schwartz he
- 36:07Speaker 10: was he came to summer vacation or right after he
- 36:09Speaker 10: graduated from college and his brother was doing something there
- 36:12Speaker 10: and he said you want to be one of the
- 36:14Speaker 10: writers for Bob Hope 17 of them or something and
- 36:16Speaker 10: he said my and My chore the entire summer was
- 36:19Speaker 10: to bring in a pineapple milkshake to Bob Hope. He said,
- 36:22Speaker 10: I probably made one or two comments. And he said,
- 36:24Speaker 10: then he went to war, went back to the service
- 36:26Speaker 10: or something. And he said, it was two years later,
- 36:28Speaker 10: and I came back in, and I thought, I'm just
- 36:29Speaker 10: going to go into Mr. Hope with a pineapple milkshake.
- 36:32Speaker 10: And he said, I came up. Hope was sitting in
- 36:34Speaker 10: a chair. He said, I came up behind him, put
- 36:37Speaker 10: the pineapple milkshake, and he said, Hope didn't even turn around.
- 36:39Speaker 10: He said, what took you so long? Now, that's instant humor.
- 36:43Speaker 10: You've got to mind the thing. What took you long?
- 36:45Speaker 10: Two years later, here.
- 36:46Speaker 8: Comes the minute.
- 36:46Speaker 10: What took you so long?
- 36:48Speaker 8: I was Sherwood to work with. I mean, he's definitely
- 36:51Speaker 8: made his name in the industry. Like, what was he
- 36:53Speaker 8: like to work with early on? Oh, he was good.
- 36:56Speaker 10: He was good. He'd done a lot of I Married
- 36:58Speaker 10: Jones and stuff. It's a business, and he was a business.
- 37:01Speaker 10: I guess maybe if you're not in the room with
- 37:03Speaker 10: the writers. So he was more in charge of it
- 37:06Speaker 10: than creating it. He created it. Yes, I don't mean that.
- 37:09Speaker 10: But I don't know that he did much of the writing.
- 37:11Speaker 10: If you look at the storyboards, I don't know. I
- 37:14Speaker 10: don't know how many of the writers. But he was
- 37:15Speaker 10: very good to work with.
- 37:19Speaker 8: As far as the rest of that cast, as you're saying,
- 37:23Speaker 8: an up-and-coming actress, there's some pretty impressive criteria as you're
- 37:26Speaker 8: coming in with the older cast members. How intimidating is
- 37:30Speaker 8: it working with? Alan Hale Jr. I still think has
- 37:32Speaker 8: some of the best comedic timing and it just is
- 37:35Speaker 8: amazing to watch work.
- 37:37Speaker 10: What's kind of fun is Alan was a wonderful, wonderful man,
- 37:40Speaker 10: same size as my dad. But imagine growing up in
- 37:43Speaker 10: a household as a young boy with Errol Flynn and
- 37:46Speaker 10: all those heroes are now in your house, you know?
- 37:50Speaker 10: But he was the character of the Skipper. We all
- 37:53Speaker 10: were very good at what we did. We all were
- 37:55Speaker 10: very typecast, and it worked.
- 37:58Speaker 8: It is sort of timeless. I mean, I guess at
- 38:01Speaker 8: the time it was just, maybe because it's so removed
- 38:03Speaker 8: from society that it is its own weird little world
- 38:07Speaker 8: that seems like it always works, even today it holds
- 38:10Speaker 8: up the same as the first time it aired, I'm assuming.
- 38:13Speaker 10: Well, and I've written a book called What Would Marianne Do?
- 38:15Speaker 10: because because the world is in chaos. We were seven
- 38:19Speaker 10: people with nothing in common, except Bob and Alan. But
- 38:24Speaker 10: we were marooned like a Robinson Crusoe, and there was
- 38:27Speaker 10: never any angst. We never blamed Gillian. We could have
- 38:31Speaker 10: been bullying him because he got us there. Everybody pitched
- 38:33Speaker 10: in and did what they could do. It's a lesson
- 38:36Speaker 10: to the world.
- 38:36Speaker 1: It really is.
- 38:37Speaker 10: If you sit and look at the continents, why do
- 38:39Speaker 10: we have to possess it? Why can't we interact with
- 38:43Speaker 10: each other and i think that's one of the reasons
- 38:44Speaker 10: that it's an escape it's like a robinson crusoe but
- 38:47Speaker 10: it's it's a lesson and you don't know you're learning.
- 38:49Speaker 8: It it is it is strange as the years go
- 38:52Speaker 8: on because we we actually just went back on the
- 38:54Speaker 8: show and re-watched the the harlem ghost trotters movie.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Well that's a little far-fetched but that what was funny
- 39:00Speaker 5: is that's the last one in the run and you
- 39:03Speaker 5: feel the 80s creeping in you guys have like the
- 39:05Speaker 5: workout room on the in the hut And like there's
- 39:08Speaker 5: Jane Fonda leotards going on.
- 39:10Speaker 8: It's very strange seeing the 80s creeping into Gilligan's Isle.
- 39:13Speaker 10: Yeah, it really was. I think it was a waste
- 39:15Speaker 10: of time. I think it kind of broke the magic.
- 39:19Speaker 8: I mean, the more we read into it, it's like
- 39:21Speaker 8: the fact that it wasn't even meant for you guys.
- 39:23Speaker 8: Like it was, I think it was like the Dallas
- 39:25Speaker 8: cowboy cheerleader story that they then worked into the harlem
- 39:29Speaker 8: globetrotters and then somehow it just became a couple of.
- 39:32Speaker 10: Business surf off and surf off and don't know where
- 39:33Speaker 10: they are i mean so ridiculous.
- 39:37Speaker 8: Well then we we try to get into some i
- 39:39Speaker 8: i really love that 70s era of of movies and
- 39:42Speaker 8: you had a couple i wanted to touch on like
- 39:43Speaker 8: the the town that dreaded sound down i mean how
- 39:45Speaker 8: was that to work.
- 39:47Speaker 10: On at that i did a movie for the producer
- 39:50Speaker 10: called Winterhawk, which was one of the most beautiful films
- 39:52Speaker 10: ever done. Indians and missionaries and up in the snow
- 39:58Speaker 10: and Durango and all of that. And Charlie, I was
- 40:01Speaker 10: the first female that ever narrated a film, too, which
- 40:03Speaker 10: was wonderful. And I was narrating it because there wasn't
- 40:06Speaker 10: a story point. He needed some fill. And Lee Hazelwood
- 40:10Speaker 10: was composing the music behind it. So most of the
- 40:13Speaker 10: time you go in a recording booth separate, but the
- 40:16Speaker 10: music would swell and it would help me while I
- 40:17Speaker 10: was doing it. It was fascinating. So I don't know,
- 40:20Speaker 10: a year later, two years later, Charlie called me and said, Don,
- 40:23Speaker 10: I've got an actress. I've got a true story. I'm
- 40:25Speaker 10: doing it. I've got an actress that can't carry groceries
- 40:27Speaker 10: and talk at the same time. If I sing the
- 40:29Speaker 10: plane to you, will you just come and do a
- 40:30Speaker 10: day's work for me? I said, sure, I'll do it. Well,
- 40:32Speaker 10: it was a true story. And the town was very
- 40:34Speaker 10: scared about it all. But what a chore. I said,
- 40:38Speaker 10: you've got a minute. I can talk about it. He
- 40:40Speaker 10: flew me in and got me in this 1940s costume
- 40:41Speaker 10: and The woman that I played was still alive, but
- 40:46Speaker 10: she wouldn't talk to me on the phone. So we
- 40:47Speaker 10: did the shooting and all that kind of stuff. Now
- 40:49Speaker 10: we're local. They got blood running down my face, and
- 40:52Speaker 10: I'm supposed to be crawling through the cornfields, and that's
- 40:55Speaker 10: how she got away, and a dog barking awakened a house,
- 41:00Speaker 10: and that's why he didn't catch her. So he says
- 41:02Speaker 10: to me, now you're crawling through the cornfields. I have
- 41:06Speaker 10: to pay a dollar and a half for every corn
- 41:07Speaker 10: stalk that you break, so be careful not. Now it's
- 41:09Speaker 10: three o'clock in the morning, I've got fake blood, and
- 41:11Speaker 10: I'm trying not to break the break the corn and
- 41:13Speaker 10: there's a big field out there and the dog barking
- 41:16Speaker 10: was one of the crew's dog which was a pit
- 41:18Speaker 10: bull and he said to charlie he's very mean he's
- 41:21Speaker 10: very very mean and charlie says so what happens if
- 41:24Speaker 10: he gets loose he said if he gets loose shoot
- 41:25Speaker 10: him go ahead so now everybody's got guns and there's
- 41:28Speaker 10: a stake in the ground and i'm about 35 feet
- 41:31Speaker 10: from the farmhouse and the dog and i'm crawling and
- 41:35Speaker 10: i see the dog's lips curl you know you see
- 41:37Speaker 10: that and he's going like this and the stake comes
- 41:40Speaker 10: out of the ground So I'm thinking, okay. I put
- 41:42Speaker 10: my face in the grass. I put my hands on
- 41:44Speaker 10: the back of my head. I said, if he's going
- 41:45Speaker 10: to chew me, he's going to chew my back. Guns
- 41:47Speaker 10: went off everywhere trying to shoot the dog. They never
- 41:50Speaker 10: got the dog. The dog never got me. So we
- 41:53Speaker 10: finished the scene. It's about 3.30 or 4 in the morning.
- 41:56Speaker 10: And I go back to the motel. And I've got,
- 41:58Speaker 10: you know, fake blood. My hair is all matted. And
- 42:00Speaker 10: I walked in and the guy behind the counter fainted
- 42:02Speaker 10: dead away. So it was quite an experience.
- 42:06Speaker 8: Maybe more of a horror story off screen.
- 42:08Speaker 10: And they never caught the guy. They just remade the
- 42:10Speaker 10: movie this year.
- 42:10Speaker 8: Yeah have you seen it i have not seen the
- 42:12Speaker 8: new one now i.
- 42:13Speaker 10: Don't know i don't i can't imagine they caught him
- 42:15Speaker 10: because they never knew who did it i watched.
- 42:16Speaker 8: The trailer it looks like it was relatively well made
- 42:18Speaker 8: so i do want to check it out i'd like
- 42:19Speaker 8: to see it too i think we do have sort
- 42:22Speaker 8: of a sub-series running of bigfoot movies that we've watched
- 42:25Speaker 8: over the years the boggy creek itself the original was
- 42:29Speaker 8: was kind of an interesting mixture of stuff what was
- 42:32Speaker 8: it like coming into return to boggy.
- 42:33Speaker 10: Creek because i never saw the original one but It
- 42:36Speaker 10: was fun for me to play a mother. And we
- 42:38Speaker 10: did it in a location. And we were, I mean,
- 42:41Speaker 10: in the bayous. But it was real. And the people
- 42:43Speaker 10: in the bayou were bringing their children with pet rats on, like, leashes.
- 42:49Speaker 10: And they were cockfights. I wanted to go see. Nobody
- 42:50Speaker 10: would let me go see it. I mean, it was
- 42:52Speaker 10: really bayou stuff. It was a good experience. Kind of
- 42:54Speaker 10: a silly movie, but that's all right.
- 42:57Speaker 8: All right, Wano. You've got a lot of stuff in
- 42:59Speaker 8: the works, one of which is the book that you mentioned. What's...
- 43:02Speaker 8: I guess it is sort of life lessons from the
- 43:05Speaker 8: point of view of Marianne.
- 43:06Speaker 10: It's common sense. It's at dawnwells.com. Get the book. It's
- 43:09Speaker 10: great for if you're raising anybody under 16. It's a
- 43:12Speaker 10: book they should read, boys and girls. What would Marianne do?
- 43:15Speaker 10: It's common sense. If you start a job, finish it.
- 43:17Speaker 10: Do you have to be first in line? Anything wrong
- 43:19Speaker 10: with opening a door for an elderly lady? It's common sense.
- 43:22Speaker 10: There's so much with the Kardashians and the $ 500 purses.
- 43:25Speaker 10: Get off it. You're raising kids today. It's going to
- 43:27Speaker 10: be our future.
- 43:28Speaker 8: And you're the ambassador for MeTV?
- 43:30Speaker 10: Ambassador for MeTV. It's a fabulous channel because all the
- 43:33Speaker 10: shows that you really loved are still there.
- 43:35Speaker 8: Well, thank you for talking with us, man. That was
- 43:36Speaker 8: very good. Thank you.
- 43:37Speaker 11: Thank you.
- 44:02Speaker 1: You're loved by women and men Lovely Marianne You.
- 44:04Speaker 4: Make our school break a sweet vibration Lovely Marianne The
- 44:06Speaker 4: joy you bring melts the desolation Marianne Marianne.
- 44:08Speaker 8: Ah So thank you once again to Dawn.
- 44:35Speaker 1: And check out her book. It had a lot of pictures.
- 44:38Speaker 8: She did. I was surprised actually. Sometimes there's just like
- 44:40Speaker 8: a couple in that little center section or something, but
- 44:42Speaker 8: she was flipping through and like she was trying to
- 44:44Speaker 8: show us a specific photo and then she had so
- 44:47Speaker 8: many photos she couldn't find it. She was like, wait,
- 44:49Speaker 8: where is it? Hold on.
- 44:50Speaker 1: And there were quite a lot in there.
- 44:52Speaker 8: But yep, she was awesome. So thank you once again
- 44:54Speaker 8: to Dawn for talking with us and for giving us
- 44:56Speaker 8: this whole trip. Like it was the whole reason for us.
- 44:59Speaker 1: It was the reason for me to go to the
- 45:00Speaker 1: Half Price Bookstore outlet. Woo!
- 45:01Speaker 8: But you also spent way too much money.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I spent less money than you did.
- 45:05Speaker 8: I spent a good amount of money.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I spent $ 14.
- 45:08Speaker 8: Mine was for show-related merchandise because they had CDs.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Half of mine were for Boyfriend.
- 45:15Speaker 8: He has a problem, too, but we know that. So, yeah.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Soundtracks.
- 45:19Speaker 8: I'm just loading up on soundtracks. I'm going to just
- 45:21Speaker 8: continue to make soundtrack episodes. I'm assuming other people like them.
- 45:25Speaker 8: I don't know. At this point, I just like putting
- 45:26Speaker 8: it together, so.
- 45:28Speaker 7: Soundtracks.
- 45:29Speaker 8: That's what I bought.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I bought books about Draculas.
- 45:32Speaker 8: I like those. You usually snatch all those up, though,
- 45:35Speaker 8: so I don't... And comic books. I like those, too.
- 45:40Speaker 8: I've backed off a little, but I was eyeballing this
- 45:43Speaker 8: Black Panther when it was in there. Some kid had
- 45:46Speaker 8: drawn it. Was it well-drawn, though? He was just kind
- 45:50Speaker 8: of helping him. He was coloring. He was giving some
- 45:53Speaker 8: extra color. Some flair. Put a little flair on his costume. But, um... Yeah.
- 45:59Speaker 8: I'm slowly edging my way back into Markham.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I've been trying to get more into, like, well, I'm
- 46:03Speaker 1: trying to get Amethyst, which I don't know why. She
- 46:05Speaker 1: just fascinates the fuck out of me. I think it
- 46:07Speaker 1: reminds me of She-Ra a little bit, but I've never
- 46:08Speaker 1: actually read any of her comic books, so she could
- 46:10Speaker 1: be totally nothing like her at all, but she has
- 46:11Speaker 1: a Pegasus, from what I understand, named Max.
- 46:14Speaker 8: So I don't know.
- 46:14Speaker 1: I'm all about that shit.
- 46:16Speaker 8: Is she a princess of power?
- 46:17Speaker 1: Oh, she is a princess of Gemworld.
- 46:19Speaker 8: Hmm.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Close enough.
- 46:20Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, that's pretty close.
- 46:22Speaker 1: And the Max, which I didn't find any of those today.
- 46:24Speaker 1: And any, like, old Like, I would say 60s, 70s
- 46:27Speaker 1: horror comics.
- 46:28Speaker 8: See, those are the ones I'm eventually going to have
- 46:29Speaker 8: to start wrestling with. Those are awesome. They are. Those
- 46:34Speaker 8: are badass.
- 46:34Speaker 1: I know, right? Like, Unexpected or The House of Mystery.
- 46:38Speaker 1: I bought several Twilight Zone, like the original run of
- 46:40Speaker 1: Twilight Zone. And please believe it or not, comic books
- 46:43Speaker 1: and House of Mystery, maybe?
- 46:46Speaker 8: I think there was some of those, yeah.
- 46:49Speaker 1: I love them.
- 46:49Speaker 8: I love the cover.
- 46:50Speaker 1: I love the artwork, you know. I love collecting things.
- 46:53Speaker 1: I like just having things to, like, I like having
- 46:55Speaker 1: a goal.
- 46:57Speaker 8: Objective.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I do. I like, I like, because I mean, for
- 47:00Speaker 1: a while, my main goal was like, I don't know,
- 47:02Speaker 1: like Fear Street books or along that same line or
- 47:05Speaker 1: certain like young, young adult horror books from like my youth.
- 47:07Speaker 1: But then I'm like, well, fuck, I've got them all.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Because I get so excited whenever I see like, whenever
- 47:12Speaker 1: I find like a Fear Street book anywhere or anything
- 47:13Speaker 1: by R.L. Stine or Christopher Pike or Ritchie Takersley Cusick
- 47:18Speaker 1: or either. I'm like, oh my God. And I'm like,
- 47:20Speaker 1: oh wait, I have it. Which doesn't necessarily stop me
- 47:23Speaker 1: from buying more, because I'm working on my second full
- 47:26Speaker 1: set of Fear Street books.
- 47:28Speaker 3: As I said, you have a problem.
- 47:29Speaker 1: No, this is specifically for a reason. That way, if
- 47:31Speaker 1: anybody asks to borrow them, I can be like, oh, okay.
- 47:33Speaker 8: This is my lending library, as opposed to my behind-glass library.
- 47:38Speaker 1: I'm like, you want to borrow my Fear Street book
- 47:40Speaker 1: that I've had since I was in fifth grade?
- 47:42Speaker 10: No.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Don't think so. I like you just fine, but you're
- 47:45Speaker 1: not getting my Fear Street books, so I will fight
- 47:47Speaker 1: to the death for these. My one friend whose name
- 47:50Speaker 1: I'm not going to mention, she has three kids. And
- 47:52Speaker 1: I'm like, mm-mm.
- 47:52Speaker 8: It's not a good place for a keepsake. No, no, no, no.
- 47:56Speaker 8: Of any sort.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Specifically paper-based. She has tried to bribe me with, like,
- 47:59Speaker 1: baked goods. And I'm like, mm-mm.
- 48:02Speaker 8: This does not seem like a good idea at all.
- 48:03Speaker 1: I know, right? So that's why I found them for cheap.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I bought them all up that way. And nobody has
- 48:07Speaker 1: asked me since then. Nobody has once since then said, hey,
- 48:09Speaker 1: can I borrow it?
- 48:10Speaker 8: I'm like, no.
- 48:11Speaker 1: See, I'm not that I'm all stocked up. You know,
- 48:13Speaker 1: but whenever I see them anywhere, I get, like, so excited.
- 48:16Speaker 1: So at least if I have something new to collect,
- 48:17Speaker 1: I've not read hardly any of the comic books I have.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I'm not even going to lie. Maybe when I get
- 48:21Speaker 1: them all, I'll I feel like I can't start reading
- 48:23Speaker 1: them until I have them all. Because then I'll miss something.
- 48:26Speaker 1: What if I have like one, five, and six? What
- 48:29Speaker 1: happened in two, three, and four?
- 48:32Speaker 8: You'll have to piece it together, I suppose.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Oh, see? Life is a journey.
- 48:38Speaker 8: That it is.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Not the destination.
- 48:40Speaker 8: As we've learned from Dawn. The journey that we all
- 48:43Speaker 8: go on.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Or something like that.
- 48:45Speaker 8: Since you were discussing processing things like a child, or
- 48:48Speaker 8: liking young adult things, You made that.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Sound creepy too.
- 48:51Speaker 8: It ties... Young adult things. No, I process things like
- 48:57Speaker 8: I'm 12 years old and that leads to my movie
- 48:59Speaker 8: viewing this past week. And again, it was one of
- 49:03Speaker 8: those I didn't set out to watch. I've stumbled upon
- 49:06Speaker 8: many a movie like this. I'm like, usually in the
- 49:07Speaker 8: middle of editing this wonderful show you're listening to now.
- 49:11Speaker 8: So it takes up most of my week just processing
- 49:14Speaker 8: files and editing things together. And occasionally I'll have something
- 49:17Speaker 8: just kind of on in the background. And then occasionally
- 49:19Speaker 8: I'll swap out and something new will start. And half
- 49:22Speaker 8: the time it's muted because I'm listening to stuff on
- 49:23Speaker 8: the headphones anyway. But at one point I got into
- 49:28Speaker 8: this movie and I'm just like, ugh, dumb kids movie.
- 49:31Speaker 8: And then it starts and I'm like, huh, so far
- 49:34Speaker 8: this isn't too bad. And then I got not very
- 49:36Speaker 8: far into it before I was like, wow, this is
- 49:38Speaker 8: kind of like a real movie and like relatively well made.
- 49:41Speaker 1: What is this movie?
- 49:44Speaker 8: Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Again, it feels like it
- 49:47Speaker 8: should be like way younger oriented. It's kind of not
- 49:50Speaker 8: like it's right at that, like maybe 11 to 12
- 49:54Speaker 8: year old. Like it's right at the almost heading into
- 49:57Speaker 8: weird high school era or at least starting to, you know,
- 50:00Speaker 8: worry about what girls think. This was right before that.
- 50:02Speaker 8: I think it's the next one, which is called Roderick Rules. Yeah,
- 50:05Speaker 8: I know what the sequel is called. He starts liking
- 50:07Speaker 8: the girl. But in this one, like, it is one
- 50:09Speaker 8: of those, like, I was surprised how well made it was.
- 50:12Speaker 8: And it has, like, a very homey feeling you can
- 50:16Speaker 8: kind of settle into. Maybe if you're an outcast kid,
- 50:19Speaker 8: maybe that works better. But I feel like it does
- 50:21Speaker 8: kind of tap into, like, the same thing that each
- 50:24Speaker 8: sort of generation, like, latches onto. Like, stand by me.
- 50:27Speaker 8: You know, like, you kind of love bees.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Which is, to this day, the reason I look for
- 50:30Speaker 1: dead bodies whenever I go in the woods.
- 50:32Speaker 8: That's right. See? Well, this has many, the cheese story
- 50:35Speaker 8: is equally as horrifying as finding the dead body. But
- 50:37Speaker 8: the or even like the Sandlot, like kids of that generation,
- 50:41Speaker 8: like latched on to the Sandlot. And I think it's
- 50:43Speaker 8: kind of that same feeling of like you're right at
- 50:45Speaker 8: that like turning point in your life. You're not really
- 50:48Speaker 8: a grown up, but you're starting to sort of process
- 50:50Speaker 8: your problems like a grown up and like you're starting
- 50:53Speaker 8: to deal with weird friend stuff and like. what do
- 50:55Speaker 8: you do if your friends are super dorky, but they're
- 50:57Speaker 8: still your friends and you still kind of, I deal
- 51:00Speaker 8: with this all the time. Your friends are.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Dorky, but you have to, you know, you have more friends.
- 51:06Speaker 8: Also is how it ties in. This kid only had
- 51:10Speaker 8: that one friend. So like he has to put up
- 51:12Speaker 8: with him because he's only got one friend and he
- 51:14Speaker 8: tries to make that other friend and he's really creepy.
- 51:16Speaker 8: And then, so yeah, I, there's all those little dynamics
- 51:19Speaker 8: that I'm just like, I did not expect it to
- 51:21Speaker 8: be this well put together. I expected a dumb kids movie.
- 51:24Speaker 8: I'm telling you, stick with it. It's pretty damn entertaining
- 51:27Speaker 8: if you're a juvenile like myself. If your brain processes
- 51:30Speaker 8: things like you're 11. Is a ghostbuster with a cone
- 51:33Speaker 8: on his head?
- 51:35Speaker 3: Yikes.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Speaking of things, people that process things like they're juveniles.
- 51:40Speaker 8: He's put a traffic cone on his head.
- 51:43Speaker 1: Oh, it's been on the ground for hours. There's so
- 51:45Speaker 1: much dirt. He's smoking a cigarette, so he obviously doesn't care.
- 51:50Speaker 8: So that was an odd turn that I did not
- 51:53Speaker 8: really plan for. I was just like, oh, okay, I'm
- 51:56Speaker 8: not watching anything right now.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Oh, shit.
- 51:58Speaker 8: Next thing I knew, I'd seen the whole movie. I'm
- 52:00Speaker 8: just like, I'm surprised how much I like this.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Speaking of movies that are well made, let's talk about
- 52:05Speaker 1: one that I watched that was horrible and that I
- 52:07Speaker 1: wanted to punch the movie in the face.
- 52:08Speaker 8: You love this movie?
- 52:10Speaker 10: I do.
- 52:10Speaker 8: It's your new favorite movie?
- 52:11Speaker 1: It was horrible. Horrible. Halfway through, I was just hate-watching it. Wait,
- 52:15Speaker 1: I wanted to punch everybody in this movie in their faces.
- 52:17Speaker 1: I wanted to collect this entire movie, collect a face punch.
- 52:20Speaker 8: Now, this is crazy talk, because you know a well-made film,
- 52:25Speaker 8: possibly an arthouse cinema type of thing, is what we're
- 52:29Speaker 8: dealing with, would involve a hashtag in the title.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Hashtag horror. five out of five do not approve very uncool.
- 52:38Speaker 8: Very annoying four out of five dennis walked out on.
- 52:40Speaker 1: It oh shit the last one was unconscious boredom it
- 52:44Speaker 1: was so stupid this was like the worst movie ever
- 52:47Speaker 1: and i guess it's the point that you're supposed to
- 52:49Speaker 1: hate these kids because they are kind of disturbed these
- 52:51Speaker 1: like i forget how many preteen like like seven twelve
- 52:55Speaker 1: year olds it's maybe.
- 52:56Speaker 8: We're dealing with the same thing here a bunch of
- 52:58Speaker 8: kids at that turning point in their life Yours just
- 53:01Speaker 8: decided to be douchebags.
- 53:02Speaker 1: They were the douchiest of douchebags. They were all like.
- 53:05Speaker 8: My two kids were cool. Okay, they weren't cool. But
- 53:07Speaker 8: they were very nice. And you liked them. And you
- 53:09Speaker 8: wanted to root for them. And your kids, you wanted
- 53:11Speaker 8: to root for them to die.
- 53:12Speaker 1: These pre-teen girls, I wanted to punch them all in
- 53:14Speaker 1: their faces.
- 53:14Speaker 8: They were just.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 53:18Speaker 8: Online, I think you had to clarify for legal reasons
- 53:20Speaker 8: that you weren't actually going to attack these juveniles.
- 53:22Speaker 1: I want to punch their characters in the face, not
- 53:24Speaker 1: necessarily actresses.
- 53:26Speaker 8: That's safer.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Even the adult actors and actresses were absolutely horrible in
- 53:30Speaker 1: this movie. There was not one character in this movie
- 53:32Speaker 1: where I'm like, you know what? That person's okay. Even
- 53:35Speaker 1: the parents were douchebags.
- 53:37Speaker 8: That's how you get little kids that are douchebags.
- 53:39Speaker 1: The acting was atrocious. I think the young girl actresses
- 53:44Speaker 1: did better I mean, they were still, their characters were assholes,
- 53:47Speaker 1: but that was the point. But they did a very
- 53:50Speaker 1: convincing job. The parents, it was the most overacted, atrocious
- 53:55Speaker 1: sack of shit I have ever seen. And it's not
- 53:57Speaker 1: even like people that were like new timers. It was like,
- 54:00Speaker 1: I don't even know how to say her name, so
- 54:01Speaker 1: I'm going to slaughter it. Chloe Savigny?
- 54:04Speaker 8: Chloe Savigny?
- 54:06Speaker 1: Whatever the fuck her name is. She was horrible. But
- 54:08Speaker 1: I guess she's supposed to be too.
- 54:09Speaker 8: I normally like Carolyn. Again, starting super arthouse. Like, she
- 54:13Speaker 8: legitimately was.
- 54:14Speaker 1: I can't tell if she was just drunk in this movie,
- 54:16Speaker 1: because her character was supposed to be this drunk, like,
- 54:18Speaker 1: socialite-y kind of person who's married to an art collector.
- 54:20Speaker 8: Maybe that was the bonus side. She was like, not
- 54:22Speaker 8: only do I get paid, I get to drink on
- 54:24Speaker 8: set all day.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Oh my god, she was horrible. I think it's Timothy Hutton.
- 54:28Speaker 11: Perhaps.
- 54:29Speaker 8: Again, a former Oscar nominee? Like, this is a weird
- 54:33Speaker 8: place that all these actors have fallen.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Maybe I'm just pulling a name out of my ass
- 54:36Speaker 1: and it wasn't Timothy Hutton. Let me make sure real quick,
- 54:37Speaker 1: because I don't want to sully the name of an
- 54:39Speaker 1: actor who wasn't as horrible.
- 54:40Speaker 8: That's true. Timothy Hutton otherwise is a very good actor.
- 54:43Speaker 8: I've always been kind of impressed with him, so we
- 54:45Speaker 8: should at least clarify before we smirch his fine name.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Yep, that'd be Timothy Hutton, and he was an asshole,
- 54:51Speaker 1: and he was a horrible actor. Completely overacted and just,
- 54:54Speaker 1: although he at some point did threaten to slap them
- 54:57Speaker 1: all and murder them at some point.
- 54:59Speaker 8: He might be your hero in this movie.
- 55:01Speaker 1: But it was just so overacted and just, I'm just like, whoa,
- 55:05Speaker 1: dial it back, dude.
- 55:07Speaker 8: Whoa.
- 55:07Speaker 1: There's just a lot of stuff that's alluded to that
- 55:09Speaker 1: you have like, all right, if you're going to allude
- 55:11Speaker 1: to stuff that happened a year ago, fucking follow through
- 55:14Speaker 1: with it. They'll be like, oh wait, something happened a
- 55:17Speaker 1: year ago. But we're not going to actually tell you
- 55:18Speaker 1: what happened a year ago. We're just going to make
- 55:19Speaker 1: several allusions to it so that you're like, what happened?
- 55:21Speaker 1: Was it some big mystery? Did somebody, I mean, I
- 55:23Speaker 1: guess one of their moms killed themselves, supposedly?
- 55:26Speaker 8: I mean, there's a way to do that. I kind
- 55:28Speaker 8: of like when you can work something in subtly and
- 55:31Speaker 8: not hit people over the head with it, but there's
- 55:33Speaker 8: also a way to do it sloppily where you throw
- 55:37Speaker 8: it out there and then don't follow up on it.
- 55:39Speaker 1: And it was just very, like, because during several scenes
- 55:41Speaker 1: of the movie they would, like, flash to, like, this
- 55:44Speaker 1: game that they're all playing on their phones and it'd
- 55:46Speaker 1: be like this is just a scene. It wasn't like
- 55:47Speaker 1: a little snippet. It'd be like the entire screen would
- 55:49Speaker 1: be whatever this kind of game.
- 55:52Speaker 8: Were they selling this game? Is it an app you
- 55:53Speaker 8: can buy? Maybe that's what pushed this whole movie. Maybe
- 55:56Speaker 8: it was all just a ploy to get people to
- 55:57Speaker 8: go buy this new game.
- 55:58Speaker 1: And at some point it had like sort of like
- 56:00Speaker 1: scenes from Snapchat I guess where they would have like
- 56:03Speaker 1: a couple seconds of like each person getting killed or
- 56:06Speaker 1: something and like you'd get more points and it was
- 56:09Speaker 1: just it was the worst.
- 56:10Speaker 8: I think this is all just a marketing scheme to
- 56:12Speaker 8: get people to buy this new game.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Taron Manning was in it for like five seconds. Why
- 56:16Speaker 1: are you going to bother getting Taron Manning? And who
- 56:20Speaker 1: was the guy that killed like first thing off? Balthazar Getty.
- 56:25Speaker 8: Interesting.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Again, someone who.
- 56:26Speaker 8: Used to be in a lot of stuff and kind
- 56:28Speaker 8: of high profile.
- 56:29Speaker 1: He's kind of an asshole. Again, I don't think it
- 56:31Speaker 1: really ruined anything because he dies in like the first
- 56:32Speaker 1: five minutes.
- 56:33Speaker 8: He's the Drew Barrymore of this movie.
- 56:36Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, Balthazar Getty. Whoa, whoop, there he goes.
- 56:39Speaker 8: There he went.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Again straight up asshole sleeping with some random girl in
- 56:45Speaker 1: his car while he's talking to his wife on the
- 56:47Speaker 1: phone I'm like dude you got it coming.
- 56:51Speaker 8: That's kind of how these horror movies work.
- 56:53Speaker 1: It doesn't really line up because that's the first scene
- 56:56Speaker 1: and then later you see the person who apparently supposedly
- 57:00Speaker 1: did it is off doing something else I'm like wait
- 57:02Speaker 1: a second you are not lining up with your own
- 57:04Speaker 1: fucking movie don't make some flashback about how she did
- 57:07Speaker 1: it when I've just seen her doing something else Before
- 57:10Speaker 1: she had an opportunity.
- 57:10Speaker 8: To do it. So the killer has an alibi?
- 57:13Speaker 1: No, that's the thing. It's like they flashback as to...
- 57:17Speaker 1: It's just stupid.
- 57:18Speaker 8: This is too complicated. Superman! I might have to watch
- 57:22Speaker 8: this movie just to continue to make fun of it
- 57:25Speaker 8: with you.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I don't want to ever watch it again. You were like,
- 57:27Speaker 1: let's do it for the podcast. And I'm like, I'm
- 57:28Speaker 1: never watching this again. And I guarantee my boyfriend will
- 57:30Speaker 1: not sit through this because Jay will not put up
- 57:32Speaker 1: with this bullshit.
- 57:33Speaker 8: Well, this sounds like we definitely need to watch it again.
- 57:37Speaker 1: It was horrible. I will never watch it again. Jesus.
- 57:40Speaker 1: It's just like they are. The whole point of it
- 57:42Speaker 1: is they're just mean for the sake of being mean.
- 57:44Speaker 8: That's not fun for anyone.
- 57:46Speaker 1: They're just mean to their friends. One girl, they had
- 57:50Speaker 1: her crying because she's a fat girl. And I'm just like,
- 57:53Speaker 1: calm down.
- 57:54Speaker 8: With a PH?
- 57:55Speaker 1: No.
- 57:56Speaker 8: That girl was fat.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Making fun of some girl because her mom killed herself.
- 58:00Speaker 1: And then telling the fat girl to go kill herself.
- 58:04Speaker 1: I'm just like.
- 58:06Speaker 8: Heather's taught us nothing. Leave Martha Dump Truck.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Alone, damn it. It was horrible. Horrible, horrible, horrible. No
- 58:13Speaker 1: good things to say about this movie.
- 58:15Speaker 8: Have you watched anything else?
- 58:17Speaker 1: I watched... I got through all the seasons of American
- 58:20Speaker 1: Horror Story.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Alright.
- 58:22Speaker 8: Did the carnival pan out for you?
- 58:24Speaker 1: It ended up not being quite as bad, but still
- 58:26Speaker 1: not as good as the previous seasons. It was a
- 58:28Speaker 1: whole bunch of... It was okay. I didn't hate it.
- 58:32Speaker 1: And I mean, is it motel or hotel? Whatever the fuck...
- 58:36Speaker 1: hotel with Lady Gaga in her butt.
- 58:39Speaker 8: That's how the credits roll at the beginning. Starring Lady
- 58:44Speaker 8: Gaga with her butt.
- 58:46Speaker 1: It had the beautiful Matt Bomer. I don't know how
- 58:48Speaker 1: to say his name. Bomer?
- 58:49Speaker 8: Is that it?
- 58:50Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 58:50Speaker 8: Who is this person? What else is he in it?
- 58:54Speaker 1: He's the one that some girl on Facebook was like,
- 58:56Speaker 1: who is that? And I'm like, it's Matt Bomer.
- 58:58Speaker 8: This is quite a tale you're spinning for.
- 59:00Speaker 1: You posted a picture of a bunch of guys in
- 59:02Speaker 1: their suits. And she said that he gave her a
- 59:05Speaker 1: lady boner. I remember this conversation.
- 59:07Speaker 8: I do remember reading this, but I read a lot.
- 59:10Speaker 8: of crazy stuff on your wall.
- 59:11Speaker 1: I can't think of it. You posted it.
- 59:13Speaker 8: Which picture was that?
- 59:16Speaker 1: It was a picture of like four guys in their suits.
- 59:19Speaker 1: For the Oscars.
- 59:21Speaker 8: Oh, yeah, that tells you. I just picked random guys
- 59:24Speaker 8: in their suits. I didn't think I knew who any
- 59:26Speaker 8: of them were.
- 59:26Speaker 1: Matt Bomer, Bomber, Bomer, whatever the hell. He's gorgeous. Pretty
- 59:30Speaker 1: to watch. I don't like that other guy whose name
- 59:34Speaker 1: I just forgot. He's the guy from American Pie? No,
- 59:38Speaker 1: American Beauty.
- 59:40Speaker 8: Oh, the trash bag guy?
- 59:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, that's a beautiful piece of work. It's a
- 59:43Speaker 1: fucking grocery bag. Shut the fuck up.
- 59:46Speaker 8: That guy.
- 59:46Speaker 1: I didn't like him. Which it was very obvious with
- 59:48Speaker 1: everyone with that one from like the very beginning. Very predictable.
- 59:53Speaker 1: There's another pretty guy in there too but I can't
- 59:55Speaker 1: remember his name. He was a really obnoxious guy from
- 59:59Speaker 1: Freak Show. Dandy. That's his name in Freak Show, but
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: then he was in Motel, and he was kind of pretty.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I keep saying Motel. I'm pretty sure it's Hotel. Beautiful location.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I mean, it was filmed very well.
- 1:00:13Speaker 8: They seemed to have a decent budget for that show.
- 1:00:15Speaker 8: They did.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: A lot going on. Not as much going on as
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: the Asylum. Because there was just so much going on
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: in Asylum. They had aliens. They had Nazis. They had experiments.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: They had.
- 1:00:30Speaker 8: Just another week at the old asylum.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: There was demon possession. I loved asylum. Asylum was the best.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: There was so much shit going on. Serial killers. Oh, man.
- 1:00:43Speaker 8: This is out of control.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: It was, but then you get to, like, motel, and
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: where was Jessica Lange? Where'd she go?
- 1:00:51Speaker 8: She had, like, another job that week or something.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: She's not allowed to have another job. She is the
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: American Horror Story.
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: She is the American Horror Story.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: She's been in all the rest of them.
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: She's kind of throwing off the whole deal. I know.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: And then I watched Daredevil, finally. I got caught up
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: on what everybody's losing their shit about.
- 1:01:08Speaker 8: I've mentioned it almost weekly on this show. I am
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: sold on it. I think it's a lot of fun,
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: but at the same time really well structured. But then
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: I was totally down with Jessica Jones, too. I haven't
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: watched that one yet. I think all those series were
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: pretty well made.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I think I could have used a little bit more Punisher.
- 1:01:28Speaker 8: You just like shooting me.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: The parts the parts the fun he gets shit done.
- 1:01:32Speaker 8: He does i mean that's what i'm saying i like
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: that that whole dynamic of like you know him calling
- 1:01:38Speaker 8: out daredevil he's like we do the same thing i
- 1:01:40Speaker 8: just do it better like i finalize the deal i
- 1:01:43Speaker 8: make sure they're not going to do anything else evil
- 1:01:45Speaker 8: again i take care of business you fight a losing
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: battle of trying to like beat the hell out of
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: them and then like hopefully they'll go to prison Yeah,
- 1:01:53Speaker 8: like I.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Said, it could have used a lot more Punisher, a
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: lot less Daredevil crying about stuff. Because he seemed like
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: he was like, well, they're crying about their friendship, and
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: they're crying about this. And he just always seems like
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: he's just emo about everything, and he's just such a hypocrite.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: It could have used a little bit more.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Well, just more Punisher. Seriously. I don't like Vincent D'Onofrio.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: I like the way he looked in the part. He
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: looked good as a part, but I hate the way
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: he talked, because it seemed very stilted and forced.
- 1:02:20Speaker 8: How's it go?
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: I can't even do it right now. I am Wilson Fisk,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: and this is how I'm going to win this city.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: And I'm just like, dude. He shatnered half his lines,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: and I'm just like, it just seemed very stilted and forced.
- 1:02:34Speaker 8: I like him in that he is definitely going for
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: a very specific speech pattern there.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: But it's very forced, and it's just, I spit whenever
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: I talk like that, so your microphone's going to be
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: covered in slime.
- 1:02:44Speaker 8: Yeah, we'll wring it out before we go.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Dude, seriously, it just was very forced, and it just,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: it was aggravating. I said, he looked the part.
- 1:02:50Speaker 8: I think he does a good job in the acting, too,
- 1:02:52Speaker 8: because I like the very, like, he tries so hard
- 1:02:55Speaker 8: to be super cultured and, like, that he's above, you know,
- 1:02:59Speaker 8: beating the hell out of people until he snaps. Until you,
- 1:03:02Speaker 8: you know, involve some of the women in his life
- 1:03:05Speaker 8: or something weird and personal gets involved and then he's
- 1:03:07Speaker 8: just like a gorilla. He just beats the hell out
- 1:03:10Speaker 8: of everything in his sight.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: And half the time it looks like he's in physical
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: pain trying to talk, like somebody's shoving nails into his feet.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I'm just like, dude.
- 1:03:19Speaker 8: I won't totally go against that. He does seem like
- 1:03:21Speaker 8: he's in pain all the time, which kind of, again,
- 1:03:23Speaker 8: I'm assuming that maybe he is.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Maybe he's got a glandular disorder.
- 1:03:27Speaker 8: And you got an appearance from your friend William Forsythe.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Oh, I was pretty excited about William Forsythe. And, oh
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: my God, don't even get me started, Clancy Brown.
- 1:03:34Speaker 8: I told you. Before you started watching, I was like,
- 1:03:36Speaker 8: just wait until you get your special guest star. You
- 1:03:38Speaker 8: were like, just tell me who it is.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: I was going to look it up anyways, because you
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: know me. I can't not know.
- 1:03:42Speaker 8: I was like, it's Mr. Krabs.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Oh my God. I don't know what the deal is.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: He's on my list of the top five that if
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: I could see at a convention. Not that list.
- 1:03:55Speaker 8: Don't laminate that list, people.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: He's on my list of top five that I would
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: like to see at a convention. I don't know if
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: it's the way he talks.
- 1:04:03Speaker 8: He's very cool.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: He's a very handsome man for an older gentleman. He's
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: not like old.
- 1:04:08Speaker 8: I'm sure he appreciates it.
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: Well, no.
- 1:04:10Speaker 8: Yesterday, this was my favorite.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Um.
- 1:04:12Speaker 8: A person I was talking to. I was in the
- 1:04:15Speaker 8: middle of making fun of him. There's a big surprise.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Us making fun of people crazy, though.
- 1:04:20Speaker 8: We were saying something about somebody....
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: This guy's got a half-ass costume. What the hell?
- 1:04:28Speaker 8: He just likes carrying swords around. You know you do, too.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: These swords don't even match.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: He's got a ninja sword and a broadsword. And I'm
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: sure this says, trust me, I'm a ninja. Motherfucker, you're
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: a liar.
- 1:04:36Speaker 8: He likes many genres. I like Ninja Turtles. I like Braveheart. Alright.
- 1:04:44Speaker 8: I figured it was Game of Thrones at this point,
- 1:04:46Speaker 8: but maybe he's old school. He likes Brava.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: I can't tell.
- 1:04:52Speaker 8: Oh, these are the kind of people you meet at
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: a convention.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Carried swords, wearing khakis and white tennis shoes.
- 1:04:59Speaker 8: They are not cool Marty McFly shoes, by the way.
- 1:05:02Speaker 8: Just saying.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Us making fun of people. Oh.
- 1:05:05Speaker 8: No, I was talking to this girl, and she's, we'll say,
- 1:05:08Speaker 8: a little younger than you and I. And she referred
- 1:05:11Speaker 8: to someone as middle-aged, and I think she said, like, 25. Oh, man.
- 1:05:15Speaker 8: I was just like, wait, wait, I like that you
- 1:05:19Speaker 8: referred to that as middle-aged.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: I am way past middle-aged.
- 1:05:21Speaker 8: I was like, your perspective is way, she was like,
- 1:05:23Speaker 8: that's not what I meant. I'm like, whatever. I just
- 1:05:27Speaker 8: think it was funny that that was your knee-jerk reaction
- 1:05:30Speaker 8: was in describing this person we were talking about, they
- 1:05:32Speaker 8: were middle-aged.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: But back to Clancy Brown. I don't know what I'd do.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: I would watch anything.
- 1:05:38Speaker 8: Just about. He's pretty awesome. I'm not sure I totally
- 1:05:42Speaker 8: agree with the way it pans out with his appearance
- 1:05:45Speaker 8: in this Daredevil season 2. But, you know, as long
- 1:05:48Speaker 8: as we get more Clancy Brown.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: We're not going to get any more him in that show.
- 1:05:52Speaker 8: Spoiler alert.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: He could have went on vacation. Shush.
- 1:05:58Speaker 8: So, anything else interesting that's happened to you since last
- 1:06:02Speaker 8: you appeared on this here show?
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: I'm sure there has been, but I've probably forgotten it
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: because I have the memory of a span of like
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: a goldfish. That's true. I bought books since then.
- 1:06:09Speaker 8: I'm excited every time that castle comes back around.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: I know. What are you talking about?
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:06:19Speaker 8: I think we should just go out on that. So
- 1:06:22Speaker 8: with that, we did want to say thank you to
- 1:06:23Speaker 8: Fanboy Expo for letting us come hang out here and
- 1:06:26Speaker 8: be part of the show. Again, you can find out
- 1:06:29Speaker 8: more of what they have in the works, which coming up,
- 1:06:31Speaker 8: if you're listening in the near future, is Knoxville, so
- 1:06:34Speaker 8: get on that one.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: See when you pump this shit up before then, because
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: if it happens after that, they're screwed again.
- 1:06:39Speaker 8: But regardless, they have more shows coming in the future,
- 1:06:42Speaker 8: and you can find out about all of those at fanboyexpo.com.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: They have a Facebook page, too. I'm not really sure
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: what that is.
- 1:06:48Speaker 8: It was handy. That's what told you to go in
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: the right entrance, not the wrong entrance and get stuck
- 1:06:53Speaker 8: behind a bunch of runners.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Don't get fucked by the runners.
- 1:06:55Speaker 8: So instead, go like their Facebook page. And while you're
- 1:06:58Speaker 8: at it, go to Donwells.com. And why don't you get
- 1:07:01Speaker 8: that book?
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: And if you know Mark Singer, tell him to get
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: his ass out here. Please.
- 1:07:07Speaker 8: Yeah. I don't think it's too much to ask, Mark.
- 1:07:09Speaker 8: Just come on. Don't get sick anymore.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: I can sleep on my couch. I don't even care.
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: That could possibly be arranged.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: You can use my He-Man sleeping bag. It'll be okay.
- 1:07:17Speaker 8: That is a big thing.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: I don't want to see anybody use my He-Man sleeping bag.
- 1:07:20Speaker 8: Mark, you should feel very special if she's letting you
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: use the He-Man sleeping bag.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I'd let him wear my Beastman onesie if... Beastmaster, not Beastman.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: That would be a whole different thing.
- 1:07:30Speaker 8: Is this with you? You're both wearing it at this point?
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: One of those very special onesies? Yes. And then that
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: big winged creature swoops down and.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Those things are terrifying.
- 1:07:43Speaker 8: I'm still frightened by those.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:07:46Speaker 8: With that, I think we should get out of here. Otherwise,
- 1:07:49Speaker 8: that about does it. We will return next time at
- 1:07:50Speaker 8: Same Geek Feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Bye.
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: Pretty as a midsummer's moon They call her Dawn Good
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: for you Oh, don't stay with him He'll be good
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: to you Hang on Hang on Hang on to him Think,
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: think What a big man he'll be Think, think All
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: the faces you'll see Now think what the future would
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: be With a poor boy Don't go away, please go away. Oh, no,
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: I know I want you to stay. Don't cry, it's
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: better this way. Oh, God, go away back where you belong. Girl, we.
- 1:09:36Speaker 8: Can't change the places.
- 1:09:37Speaker 11: Where we were born.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: For you say that you want me. I want you
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: to think what your family would say.
- 1:09:52Speaker 10: Think what you're throwing away.
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: Now think what the future would be with a poor
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: boy like me.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: Bench is not comfortable at all that ass has splinters
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: that guy's shirt said bye felicia and i'm like why
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: is that such a big dno why is everybody like
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: bye felicia why is that a big meme now all
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: of a sudden apparently you have no idea what i'm
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: talking about.
- 1:10:42Speaker 8: I think i do but i think it's from friday Oh, yeah.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: Why is that making a big resurgence? Why is Bye
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Felicia a big thing now? I probably didn't say it
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: near sassy enough.
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
