- 2:09Speaker 3: in this thing. It's going to be happening tomorrow on
- 2:11Speaker 3: our parking lot seven am till six pm. Like we've
- 2:14Speaker 3: done in the past with the Turkey Drop and the
- 2:16Speaker 3: Sock Drop, it is a drive through will our crews
- 2:19Speaker 3: will be out there seven am tomorrow morning till six pm.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Don't even have to get out of your car, although
- 2:24Speaker 3: attempts in the mid sixties. Tomorrow, unlike when we did
- 2:27Speaker 3: the Sock Drop, you may want to get out of
- 2:29Speaker 3: your car. It was kind of funny. We were working
- 2:31Speaker 3: out the scheduling for all of us yesterday and one
- 2:34Speaker 3: of the people in the building said, at the Sock Drop,
- 2:36Speaker 3: we had a hard time getting people wanting to go
- 2:38Speaker 3: out there.
- 2:39Speaker 5: With this thing.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Tomorrow, we're going to have a hard time getting people
- 2:41Speaker 3: wanting to come.
- 2:42Speaker 1: In the building.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Everybody's going to want to be out there tomorrow, but
- 2:45Speaker 3: again it's all in our parking lot tomorrow eleven eleven
- 2:48Speaker 3: Virginia Street East and Charleston seven am until six pm.
- 2:50Speaker 3: We'll talk to Jason Quintrail and Steve Animal about that
- 2:53Speaker 3: coming up a little bit later on Also, I want
- 2:55Speaker 3: to spend a little bit of time talking about certificate
- 2:57Speaker 3: of need. This is been a hot button topic so
- 3:02Speaker 3: far in the early days of the legislature. Well, last
- 3:04Speaker 3: night a big bomb was dropped on this thing because
- 3:07Speaker 3: it failed in committee in the House. It's not dead yet,
- 3:11Speaker 3: though it could still possibly pop up in the Senate.
- 3:14Speaker 3: David Goldberg is with Vandelia Health and also Mond Health.
- 3:18Speaker 3: He's going to join us to talk about that a
- 3:19Speaker 3: little bit later on. But your calls and text are

- 3:30Speaker 3: Want to start the show though, but talking a little
- 3:31Speaker 3: real estate. Our good friend Rich the realtor is with
- 3:35Speaker 3: us of Meeks Realty. Good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
- 3:38Speaker 3: It's good to see you.
- 3:39Speaker 1: It's been a little bit.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Yeah, you have been on the show in a while.
- 3:41Speaker 1: That's all right, though, I mean I need more Dave
- 3:43Speaker 1: thou than though not let no said no one ever.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I can tell you that right now. So I got
- 3:50Speaker 3: several things I want to talk to you about. And
- 3:52Speaker 3: if you have a question about real estate rich as
- 3:54Speaker 3: a guy. You can call us up again the Biggley
- 3:57Speaker 3: Pickli Wiggly hotline three zero four three four five fifty
- 4:00Speaker 3: at fifty eight, or you can textas courtesy of Tony
- 4:02Speaker 3: the Taylor three zero four nine three five five zero
- 4:04Speaker 3: zero weight. But before we get started the things I
- 4:07Speaker 3: wanted to talk about, you wanted to talk about a
- 4:08Speaker 3: specific listing you have in Poka.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Do yes?
- 4:11Speaker 1: So, I just have a listing in Pok three twenty
- 4:14Speaker 1: two Laurel Avenue in Pok. It's and that very desirable
- 4:17Speaker 1: Poka neighborhood, the Poka subdivision. Actually it's on a flat
- 4:21Speaker 1: half an acre of property, all fenced in a completely
- 4:25Speaker 1: restored home done by hometown builders here, locally high quality work.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Everything in this thing is new. It has the primary
- 4:33Speaker 1: bedroom suite as giant. It has two other bedrooms on
- 4:39Speaker 1: the main floor, has a has a giant loft upstairs
- 4:42Speaker 1: that has its own heating and cooling opportunity up there,
- 4:45Speaker 1: has its full bathroom. It's just a masterpiece, low over
- 4:49Speaker 1: three thousand square feet. It's back on the market, just dude.
- 4:52Speaker 1: On some unforeseen circumstances, something suddenly came up, As they
- 4:56Speaker 1: said on the Brady Bus, So we'd like to get
- 4:58Speaker 1: that back, get somebody in there. It's definitely worth your
- 5:01Speaker 1: time to go and see it. So trust me to
- 5:02Speaker 1: go look at this home. It's listed at three ninety
- 5:05Speaker 1: ninety nine and we've already been through inspections, we've been
- 5:08Speaker 1: through the appraisal. Everything's pretty buttoned up on this. We
- 5:11Speaker 1: could get it to a fast close if the if
- 5:14Speaker 1: the loan type or the purchase is ready to go.
- 5:18Speaker 3: So where can people take a look at that? Is
- 5:20Speaker 3: it's still on the website? Because I know you said
- 5:21Speaker 3: this it was like, you know, under contract or something
- 5:23Speaker 3: and that it didn't happen. So is it's still Yeah,
- 5:25Speaker 3: so it goes back on.
- 5:26Speaker 1: You can find that any of your local sites that
- 5:28Speaker 1: you like to go to, and certainly any of your
- 5:31Speaker 1: real real estate agents can find it for you only
- 5:33Speaker 1: MLS and get it to you. And certainly I can
- 5:35Speaker 1: as well. Oh yeah, you can do that.
- 5:38Speaker 3: So it has, as you said, been a while since
- 5:40Speaker 3: you've been on with this. How's the market over on
- 5:42Speaker 3: the valley right now?
- 5:43Speaker 1: You know it's it's it's pretty slow, but it's still moving.
- 5:47Speaker 1: People will always buy and sell homes. The inventory has
- 5:50Speaker 1: just dropped and dropped, and you know, people are hesitant
- 5:53Speaker 1: to sell, and we get it. It's also that time
- 5:55Speaker 1: of the years, you know, real estate has evan flows,
- 5:57Speaker 1: so you know this the winter is a little tough.
- 6:00Speaker 1: But we're coming into the spring selling season, so it's
- 6:03Speaker 1: about to pick up some. But I looked yesterday. They're
- 6:06Speaker 1: total of our board, our Connall Valleyboard of Real Tours
- 6:10Speaker 1: covers eleven counties and in those eleven counties there were
- 6:13Speaker 1: a total of five hundred and thirty five active listings,
- 6:17Speaker 1: but probably fifty of those are above five hundred thousand
- 6:21Speaker 1: dollars and one hundred and twenty of those are less
- 6:24Speaker 1: than one hundred thousand. So the primary price point for
- 6:28Speaker 1: that is pretty small. So we you know, we need
- 6:31Speaker 1: more listings. The buyers a little hesitant right now, just
- 6:34Speaker 1: kind of waiting for the spring to settle in and
- 6:36Speaker 1: that kind of thing there. We want the winner that
- 6:38Speaker 1: would not end to come in. Yeah, we're back to
- 6:41Speaker 1: what I feel like used to be how I grew
- 6:43Speaker 1: up here in West Virginia. These winners, this is how
- 6:45Speaker 1: we used to grow up. But it haven't been like
- 6:46Speaker 1: this in a while, back in the day. But yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 1: so the market's tight. There's not a lot happening, but
- 6:53Speaker 1: it is about to happen.
- 6:54Speaker 3: So, you know, Rich I had and again we're talking
- 6:57Speaker 3: with rich the realtor client of Mee's realty. I had
- 7:00Speaker 3: Cheryl Ellison a couple of weeks ago, maybe a month
- 7:02Speaker 3: or so ago, talking about this housing survey that Advantage
- 7:05Speaker 3: Valley had done. And one of the things that they
- 7:07Speaker 3: found in this survey was that there was a need
- 7:12Speaker 3: for more homes, more single family homes.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And of about fifteen hundred I believe, yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I mean, and that and a lot of that has
- 7:20Speaker 3: to do with people coming in a lot of times,
- 7:22Speaker 3: and you know this, I mean, it's not there's a
- 7:25Speaker 3: variety of factors. You know, maybe some folks get a
- 7:27Speaker 3: little bit older, getting a little bit up in years,
- 7:30Speaker 3: and they think, well, I've got this big two story
- 7:32Speaker 3: thing with this big old yard to take care of.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I can't not as easy for me to do that.
- 7:36Speaker 3: I want a smaller place. There is a need for
- 7:38Speaker 3: more homes.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Oh for sure. And you know part of the you know,
- 7:41Speaker 1: part of the story has been, you know, when rates
- 7:44Speaker 1: dropped so low and so many people were financed, and
- 7:46Speaker 1: I don't have this stat exactly right that at some
- 7:49Speaker 1: point I think prior to twenty twenty two, I think
- 7:52Speaker 1: some like seventy percent of all loans were sub three
- 7:56Speaker 1: percent or sub four percent. Rather, so if you have
- 7:59Speaker 1: somebody those homes are you know, even if they're twenty
- 8:01Speaker 1: your mortgages, they don't they're not really interested in trading out,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you know, to a six point eight five, Like that's
- 8:07Speaker 1: the current rate right now with good credit. Talk to
- 8:10Speaker 1: our good friend Eric Smith at Gateway Mortgage yesterday six
- 8:12Speaker 1: point eighty five. It is the is what he is
- 8:15Speaker 1: quoting six point seventy five on government loans. But who
- 8:19Speaker 1: wants to trade from a three and a half or
- 8:21Speaker 1: three percent loan into a six five even if you're downsizing,
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know, it's significant more money.
- 8:27Speaker 3: So talking to Rich the realchir cline, and it's clined
- 8:30Speaker 3: with a K, as I say every day to Dave
- 8:32Speaker 3: Allix Show on five eighty line presented in part by
- 8:34Speaker 3: Husband's Pizza. This month, get a large eten inch Pepperoni
- 8:37Speaker 3: pizza and a Pepperoni col zone twenty one ninety nine
- 8:39Speaker 3: eat end pick up or get delivery. Find your closest
- 8:42Speaker 3: husbands a husbands Pizza dot com and I mentioned earlier
- 8:44Speaker 3: about the weather, and I know spring is coming. We
- 8:46Speaker 3: change the time I think in like a couple of
- 8:48Speaker 3: weeks or something like that. Do you typically during the
- 8:51Speaker 3: spring season see more people that want to want to
- 8:56Speaker 3: look at a different place to live, they want to
- 8:58Speaker 3: sell their home. How does it change with the change
- 9:01Speaker 3: of the season.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. Well I think sometimes the people who
- 9:05Speaker 1: are inevitably going to move over the summer, they need
- 9:07Speaker 1: to get wrapped up into the spring, or they have
- 9:10Speaker 1: to start thinking about the spring, getting things wrapped up
- 9:12Speaker 1: so they can move into the summer if they're changing
- 9:14Speaker 1: school districts and changing jobs or whatever that is. So
- 9:16Speaker 1: the spring selling season is, and it typically starts about
- 9:19Speaker 1: the middle or the end of February and it starts
- 9:21Speaker 1: ramping up in March. So and I would just you know,
- 9:24Speaker 1: encourage people that if you're going to do that, that
- 9:26Speaker 1: there are some ways to make your house more desirable.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And first impressions are everything. We all know that, so
- 9:32Speaker 1: it are some of those things right well, you know,
- 9:35Speaker 1: particularly now after we've had a rough winter, I would
- 9:38Speaker 1: get into your landscaping as quickly as I could. You
- 9:40Speaker 1: can't make the flowers bloom, but you can get rid
- 9:42Speaker 1: of all the sticks and the and the dirt, and
- 9:44Speaker 1: clean your windows and your shutters and you know, get
- 9:47Speaker 1: all of the just get your bushes as ready to
- 9:51Speaker 1: go for spring as possible, power washer sidewalks, get all
- 9:54Speaker 1: that junk off there, because it really it is an
- 9:57Speaker 1: impactful first impression when someone pulls up to your house.
- 10:00Speaker 1: And we know that most buyers are driving by your
- 10:03Speaker 1: home before they even contact you know, a realtor an
- 10:05Speaker 1: agent or any of that kind of stuff. They're staking
- 10:08Speaker 1: they are I can look at and I've joked about
- 10:10Speaker 1: this with you before.
- 10:11Speaker 3: I can tell you that living in Tays Valley, somebody
- 10:13Speaker 3: takes down their curtains to wash them or take down
- 10:17Speaker 3: their blinds, and immediately somebody's knocking on the door saying,
- 10:19Speaker 3: are you selling your home?
- 10:20Speaker 1: That's right now, we're just cleaning the curtains man, right,
- 10:23Speaker 1: But in this case for sellers, if you're going to
- 10:25Speaker 1: do it, you really should clean your curtains. And maybe not,
- 10:29Speaker 1: but you want to have somebody come in and give
- 10:32Speaker 1: you some you know, professional advice of what you need
- 10:34Speaker 1: to do and not do. You know, some some things
- 10:36Speaker 1: aren't necessary. People. You have to go in and you know,
- 10:39Speaker 1: paint everything and remodel the bathroom. And that's not necessarily
- 10:43Speaker 1: the case, particularly in this market, but a fresh look
- 10:46Speaker 1: is always important. And you know, declutter the home, get
- 10:49Speaker 1: rid of all of the ex if you got extra furniture,
- 10:51Speaker 1: you know, sitting in rooms that are just making it
- 10:53Speaker 1: look smaller. You know, that's a mistake for a buyer
- 10:56Speaker 1: comes in. They want to be able to visualize as
- 10:58Speaker 1: much as their stuff in there as possible. So just
- 11:01Speaker 1: declutter and clean the heck out of it. It's you
- 11:03Speaker 1: know the winter, you know. Yeah, my mom used to
- 11:06Speaker 1: say spring clean all the time. We got a spring clean. Well,
- 11:08Speaker 1: that's you know, you got to spring clean the house
- 11:10Speaker 1: for the spring selling season.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Give me before we close. Rich you know, in the
- 11:14Speaker 3: era of the of the interwebs. Now people use them
- 11:17Speaker 3: for everything. They use it for.
- 11:19Speaker 1: If they're going to buy a car, they go online.
- 11:21Speaker 3: And my brother in law's in the car business and
- 11:23Speaker 3: frequently he says, you know, when people show up on
- 11:25Speaker 3: the on the on the lot that they say, I
- 11:28Speaker 3: want a twenty twenty four Chevy Silverado, and this is
- 11:31Speaker 3: what I want to you have a silver one, this
- 11:33Speaker 3: is the one I want. You know, it's it's totally changed.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I know, I know it's done that in real estate too,
- 11:38Speaker 3: but people use a variety of different ways to to
- 11:42Speaker 3: find homes or or find apartments or whatever the case
- 11:45Speaker 3: may be. Down that's it's all well and good. You
- 11:47Speaker 3: got to adapt with the times a little bit. But
- 11:49Speaker 3: there is something to be said though, for having a
- 11:52Speaker 3: real live human like you. You are a real life human, byeway,
- 11:56Speaker 3: the last time I checked, you are not a typically
- 11:58Speaker 3: I've got to have my second cup of coffine it,
- 12:00Speaker 3: but talk about that, talk about it. Yeah, so you know,
- 12:02Speaker 3: this typically happens for certainly, there's a lot of information
- 12:05Speaker 3: for buyers. They can do a ton of research and
- 12:07Speaker 3: not just find out about the house that's there, but
- 12:09Speaker 3: they can find out a ton just through you know,
- 12:12Speaker 3: what's involved in the community, and what's the crime rate
- 12:14Speaker 3: look like, what do the schools look like? And realtors
- 12:16Speaker 3: don't we shouldn't provide that kind of information, but we
- 12:19Speaker 3: should provide resources for those buyers to look into that.
- 12:21Speaker 3: And the internet, you know, is very wide open for
- 12:24Speaker 3: that kind of thing. But from a seller's point of view,
- 12:27Speaker 3: what I think happens. You know, there's a site out
- 12:30Speaker 3: there which will rhyme it with Willow that they believe
- 12:34Speaker 3: that that is the end all, and that's simply an
- 12:36Speaker 3: algorithm that until a human, a real life professional walks
- 12:40Speaker 3: into your house and evaluates the condition and helps establish
- 12:44Speaker 3: the price, you know, the recommended list price connected with
- 12:47Speaker 3: your condition, then that Willow site may not be your
- 12:52Speaker 3: end all.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So don't be surprised if you have an idea of
- 12:54Speaker 1: a price in mind and then your real estate professional
- 12:57Speaker 1: comes in and has a different point of view. I mean,
- 13:00Speaker 1: that's I love that the information is out there, but
- 13:03Speaker 1: it isn't everything. You've got to have somebody's eyes on it.
- 13:07Speaker 1: If you're looking to buy, you're looking to sell.
- 13:08Speaker 3: This is your guy Rich the real to give us

- 17:03Speaker 3: what are you talking about? Let's I want to I
- 17:06Speaker 3: want to get into this story. There's Undale. You've heard
- 17:09Speaker 3: a lot of the news, especially this legislative session, about
- 17:11Speaker 3: certificate of need. There are some that want it done
- 17:14Speaker 3: away with and others say it was a good thing
- 17:16Speaker 3: and needs to stay. Some developments happened with that last night,
- 17:20Speaker 3: so I got to kind of update my notes here
- 17:21Speaker 3: a little bit. I want to bring in David Goldberg,
- 17:23Speaker 3: who's the president and CEO of Mind Health Systems and
- 17:26Speaker 3: the executive vice president of Vandellia Health. Good morning, sir,
- 17:28Speaker 3: welcome to the show.
- 17:30Speaker 6: Good morning, Thanks for having me today, Thank you for
- 17:32Speaker 6: being here.
- 17:33Speaker 3: So there were some developments that happened last night in
- 17:36Speaker 3: the legislature. In the House, certificate of need died last night.
- 17:40Speaker 3: I know TJ and Dave were going to have more
- 17:42Speaker 3: on that coming up on talk line. There is still
- 17:43Speaker 3: possibility that it is in the Senate, that it may
- 17:48Speaker 3: it may pop back up again in the Senate. But
- 17:50Speaker 3: for those who may not know, David explain first what
- 17:54Speaker 3: exactly certificate.
- 17:55Speaker 12: Of need is.
- 17:57Speaker 6: So I'm also the vice chairman of the Virginia Hospital Association,
- 18:01Speaker 6: so that's kind of the role I'm serving this morning.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Got you gots.
- 18:04Speaker 6: But certificate certificate of Need is a public policy approach
- 18:07Speaker 6: to healthcare planning for health resources to be developed and
- 18:11Speaker 6: distributed across the state. We're one of nearly thirty five
- 18:15Speaker 6: to thirty eight states in the country who have this program,
- 18:18Speaker 6: and we have a healthcare Authority down in Charleston that
- 18:21Speaker 6: reviews applications that hospitals and healthcare providers that are eligible
- 18:26Speaker 6: for certificated need consideration. Filed to the state and then
- 18:31Speaker 6: look at the healthcare plan to make sure it's vital,
- 18:33Speaker 6: appropriate and means public health kind of approaches to make
- 18:38Speaker 6: sure we have good healthcare in place to serve our residents.
- 18:42Speaker 3: So, as I said, there have been those and this
- 18:44Speaker 3: has kind of popped up a couple of times. I
- 18:46Speaker 3: think in the sessions over the last couple of years.
- 18:48Speaker 3: There are those that wanted to do a way with
- 18:50Speaker 3: the certificate of need, and there are obviously those.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Who do not.
- 18:54Speaker 3: In your role, why do you see that it is
- 18:57Speaker 3: important to keep the certificate of need?
- 19:01Speaker 6: So first I want to share with you and the listeners.
- 19:03Speaker 6: I have worked in states with certificate the need and
- 19:06Speaker 6: without certificated needs, so I think I have a different perspective.
- 19:10Speaker 6: One of the things in West Virginia that makes it
- 19:12Speaker 6: different than other places I've worked before is that about
- 19:15Speaker 6: seventy five percent or so of the state receives healthcare
- 19:18Speaker 6: coverage for Medicare. Medicaid be a public employee insurance plan
- 19:24Speaker 6: that all pay less than what we would say as
- 19:26Speaker 6: commercial rates. So there's a big preponderance and support to
- 19:32Speaker 6: maintain certificated needs so we can keep access moving, keep
- 19:36Speaker 6: affordability and to be able to provide good healthcare. Planning
- 19:40Speaker 6: certificated need in other states work differently. Where states like
- 19:44Speaker 6: Virginia the Commonwealth where I worked before, on average is
- 19:47Speaker 6: about sixty percent commercial, which means the profitability of healthcare
- 19:51Speaker 6: is much different than states like ours that are more
- 19:53Speaker 6: rural and rely on Medicare, Medicaid and PEIA.
- 19:57Speaker 3: So I'm going to play Devil's advocate here for a moment, David,
- 20:00Speaker 3: if you don't mind, it's my job.
- 20:01Speaker 1: If I hope that's okay with you.
- 20:02Speaker 6: But sure.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Many would say, and I've had people on the show
- 20:07Speaker 3: that have spoken against Certificate of Need have said this
- 20:10Speaker 3: is just another example of governmental overreach and the government
- 20:14Speaker 3: telling private entities how to do business. I know you
- 20:17Speaker 3: get that statement thrown out there a lot. What is
- 20:20Speaker 3: your response to that?
- 20:22Speaker 6: So, first, I would say healthcare is not free market.
- 20:25Speaker 6: We have significant regulations on us by the federal government,
- 20:28Speaker 6: the state government, insurance payers, and a host of things
- 20:33Speaker 6: on us. We're not like other businesses. First. Secondly, what
- 20:37Speaker 6: Certificate of Need is trying to do is to really
- 20:40Speaker 6: balance distribution of healthcare across our state. The third thing
- 20:45Speaker 6: I would say is private doctors, private physical therapists can
- 20:49Speaker 6: go ahead today and open up clinics all around the state. Now,
- 20:52Speaker 6: I'm one of the things I did when I testified
- 20:54Speaker 6: in front of the Joint Health Committee a little over
- 20:56Speaker 6: a week ago, to share generally qualified health centers, rural
- 21:00Speaker 6: health clinics, private pharmacies, clinics and hospitals owned and operated
- 21:06Speaker 6: by hospitals. We cover almost every corner of the state today,
- 21:10Speaker 6: so there is significant competition amongst providers in the state,
- 21:14Speaker 6: and organizations outside the state can apply to get a
- 21:18Speaker 6: certificate in need or operate. One of the examples I
- 21:21Speaker 6: use is UPMC, a health system out of Pittsburg, acquired
- 21:26Speaker 6: some of the assets of the Legacy net Express Well
- 21:29Speaker 6: they're going to own twenty some on clinics in the state.
- 21:32Speaker 6: So we have variable providers already competing in the state
- 21:35Speaker 6: to improve our outcomes and provide access.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Talking again with David Goldberg about certificate of need, it's
- 21:40Speaker 3: nine to twenty nine to Dave alland show and five

- 21:44Speaker 3: the Charleston Dirty Birds. Birds having a season kickoff party

- 21:58Speaker 3: their Facebook page dirty birds Baseball dot com. So I
- 22:02Speaker 3: guess you know. We set up this interview I think
- 22:05Speaker 3: late last week, and then there was some news, as
- 22:07Speaker 3: I mentioned at the top of the segment, that came
- 22:09Speaker 3: out of the Capitol last night, and I know that
- 22:12Speaker 3: we're going to talk about it more on talk line today,
- 22:14Speaker 3: but it did fail in committee in the House.
- 22:17Speaker 6: Your response to that, well, first, I want to thank
- 22:21Speaker 6: the legislature. We had some significant discussions over the last
- 22:25Speaker 6: couple of weeks about certificate and need to remind everyone
- 22:29Speaker 6: doesn't I seeing certificated need for the last couple of years.
- 22:32Speaker 6: Two years ago they made a significant change where hospitals
- 22:35Speaker 6: on their campuses lifted the cap of capital projects that
- 22:39Speaker 6: we can be able to expand, and we've seen projects
- 22:42Speaker 6: like expanded Open Heart in Charleston, new rehabilitation hospitals, billions
- 22:47Speaker 6: of dollars of healthcare that's been announced that is coming
- 22:50Speaker 6: across the state through all of your healthcare providers today.
- 22:54Speaker 6: We look forward to sitting down with the Governor, the
- 22:56Speaker 6: Department of Health and the Secretary of Health and the
- 22:58Speaker 6: Legislature to continue you to modernize and find ways to
- 23:02Speaker 6: evolve access. And we could do it together collaboratively because.
- 23:06Speaker 3: The Governor, I mean, it's pretty well documented that the
- 23:08Speaker 3: Governor was one of the ones that was really championing,
- 23:11Speaker 3: championing the repeal a certificate need and my sources tell
- 23:16Speaker 3: me I wasn't there. My sources tell me last night
- 23:18Speaker 3: that he was doing some campaign and you know, trying
- 23:20Speaker 3: to trying to get it repealed. It eventually failed in committee,
- 23:23Speaker 3: and so the fight on either side, David is not
- 23:27Speaker 3: over yet, because you're likely to see this in the Senate, I'm.
- 23:30Speaker 6: Told, Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't qualify it as a fight.
- 23:35Speaker 6: I think it's different perspective DISCUSSIONVO you the governor. Yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 6: I value the Governor in his perspective. I mean, he
- 23:41Speaker 6: is entitled to his opinion. I think together we could
- 23:44Speaker 6: start sitting down now, as the Hospital Association, the Nursing Holmes,
- 23:48Speaker 6: hostage agencies and all the providers to sit with the
- 23:52Speaker 6: Governor of the DHHR and the Legislature I mean, we
- 23:55Speaker 6: want to improve our outcome, we want to reduce costs,
- 23:57Speaker 6: we want to improve access. All of us are a lot.
- 24:00Speaker 6: We may have different thoughts of how to get there,
- 24:02Speaker 6: but we're all aligned to make healthcare better and outcomes
- 24:05Speaker 6: better for the patients we treat.
- 24:07Speaker 3: All right, interesting stuff, and I appre you, as you said,
- 24:10Speaker 3: you have an interesting perspective because you've been employed in
- 24:13Speaker 3: states that have certificate of need and those that don't.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I appreciate you taking time out of your you're a
- 24:17Speaker 3: busy guy. Appreciate you taking time out of your schedule
- 24:20Speaker 3: to be here with us, and we'll keep an eye
- 24:21Speaker 3: on what's going on. We'll talk soon.
- 24:22Speaker 6: Thanks a lot, Thanks, thanks for the opportunity, and we
- 24:25Speaker 6: appreciate it.
- 24:26Speaker 3: All right. That's David Goldberg again, really serving more on
- 24:31Speaker 3: the show today as as part of the Hospital Association,
- 24:34Speaker 3: so I appreciate him taking time out to be there.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I wasn't watching all of the doings at the Capitol
- 24:41Speaker 3: last night, but I did speak to some people earlier
- 24:43Speaker 3: this morning that were and it was kind of fascinating.
- 24:47Speaker 3: I guess to see what happened last night. This thing
- 24:49Speaker 3: basically died. From what I understand in committee and our boy,
- 24:55Speaker 3: my boy, Mike Pushkin, State Democratic Party Chair in delegate.
- 24:59Speaker 3: I think he's a procedural move to make sure that
- 25:02Speaker 3: it cannot be brought up again in the House. And again,
- 25:05Speaker 3: I am not a parliamentarian by any stretch of the imagination.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I'll leave that to TJ.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Meadows.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I mean, he's such a parliamentary and he practically wears
- 25:12Speaker 3: a powdered wig. So we'll talk to Wilson and Meadows
- 25:16Speaker 3: about that a little bit later on. They'll delve into
- 25:18Speaker 3: this a whole lot more deeply on talk line coming
- 25:20Speaker 3: up this morning at ten o six. Now, again, as
- 25:23Speaker 3: we said, it's not done. It's still likely at the
- 25:28Speaker 3: request of the governor, to come back up in the
- 25:30Speaker 3: Senate and we'll see what is happening there. I got
- 25:33Speaker 3: some text to get to and then we will go
- 25:36Speaker 3: to break. Let me see here. Texts says, Wow, Morrisey
- 25:44Speaker 3: got embarrassed last night, says the Texter. Well, you know,
- 25:47Speaker 3: it wasn't what he wanted. I don't know if embarrassed
- 25:51Speaker 3: would be the right word, but it was certainly wasn't
- 25:53Speaker 3: what he wanted. Text says a day federal disaster was
- 25:57Speaker 3: approved yesterday for southern West Virginia. Trump and his administration
- 26:01Speaker 3: again watching out for the United States citizens. I have
- 26:04Speaker 3: not seen that not saying it wasn't. But I peruse
- 26:08Speaker 3: a whole lot of news sites before I go on
- 26:11Speaker 3: the air, and I have not seen that not saying
- 26:15Speaker 3: it wasn't. We'll leave that up to the news department.
- 26:16Speaker 3: I'll check and see what I can find out during
- 26:18Speaker 3: their break. Tex says lawmakers don't take kindly to the
- 26:21Speaker 3: governor intruding in on their committee meetings and then the
- 26:26Speaker 3: first lady and an elected woman trying to strong arm them.
- 26:29Speaker 3: They have some hard lessons to learn, says a Texter.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Texas Doge closed the Social Security office in your hometown
- 26:40Speaker 3: of Logan last night. It was kept quiet of the
- 26:43Speaker 3: rules of building stability. Where our elected congressional delegation. Where
- 26:46Speaker 3: are our elected congressional delegations fighting for our jobs? Yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 3: I saw some chatter about that last night. I was
- 26:54Speaker 3: told and I know that I actually shared a story
- 26:56Speaker 3: over my Facebook page cheap Plug Dave aland Radio, and
- 27:00Speaker 3: I think it was WWKTV thirteen that reported that that
- 27:03Speaker 3: was already scheduled to be closed, that it was on
- 27:06Speaker 3: a list to be closed anyway.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Now I don't know.
- 27:09Speaker 3: I mean that's what they are reporting, but I I
- 27:14Speaker 3: think it was already scheduled to be closed. I can
- 27:16Speaker 3: tell you that there's a whole lot of people, including Republicans,
- 27:18Speaker 3: upset about the closure of a facility in Parkersburg. And
- 27:22Speaker 3: again they'll get into that a little bit more on

- 31:39Speaker 3: Bongino off the air. That says the text.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Texas Republicans upset the things they voted for.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Oh, it won't happen to us as they point the
- 31:47Speaker 3: gun at their foot and pull the trigger, says a Texter.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Texas says Hopefully, Americans for Prosperity and the Cardinal Institute
- 31:55Speaker 3: realized that West Virginia people realize that they may be right,
- 31:58Speaker 3: but having out of staters come to tell West Virginia
- 32:00Speaker 3: how they should operate isn't the best message, it says Texta, Texas,
- 32:04Speaker 3: says Dave. West Virginia has over one hundred hospitals and
- 32:07Speaker 3: health clinics closed since Republicans took over the legislature, most
- 32:10Speaker 3: in rural areas where healthcare is mostly needed. You've heard
- 32:14Speaker 3: us talking about it the last several days. The drive
- 32:17Speaker 3: we're doing tomorrow to eight flood victims in southern West Virginia.
- 32:20Speaker 3: We're teaming up with the folks at Charleston Dirty Birds
- 32:22Speaker 3: and of course Union Mission, and also big shout out
- 32:25Speaker 3: to the members Choice Federal Credit Union for sponsored it.
- 32:28Speaker 3: We're gonna be out on our lot starting at seven
- 32:29Speaker 3: am tomorrow morning and we will be there until six
- 32:32Speaker 3: pm tomorrow evening. All of our stations will be out there,
- 32:36Speaker 3: and I have with me this morning Steve Animal from
- 32:39Speaker 3: a ninety eight to seven of the Mountain Wild and
- 32:40Speaker 3: Wonderful classic rock.
- 32:42Speaker 14: How are you funds are a little tighty this morning?
- 32:44Speaker 3: Well, take your hand off the cord. I'm nuts.
- 32:47Speaker 14: That's a little bit all right.
- 32:48Speaker 3: All right. Also, Jason Contrel is here. How you doing, man,
- 32:51Speaker 3: I'm doing good man. It's funny because every time that
- 32:55Speaker 3: Jason is around either me an animal or me and
- 32:58Speaker 3: Rob Real, he constantly has this surprised look on his face. Yeah, yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 3: that's true because you've never I know, you know, you
- 33:07Speaker 3: ain't never seen a lot of radio people and how
- 33:09Speaker 3: we act.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Yeah, in our natural environment. But I'm coming to find out.
- 33:13Speaker 1: It's interesting though.
- 33:14Speaker 3: It's a documentary. Waiting, I'm starting, I'm taking notes. Actually,
- 33:18Speaker 3: I have said this before. My wife was a psychology major,
- 33:21Speaker 3: and I am convinced that.
- 33:23Speaker 1: And I've been in radio.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Next month will be thirty seven years. We've been married
- 33:28Speaker 3: for thirty two years. I'm convinced that the entire thing
- 33:32Speaker 3: is just a psychological experiment. That she's just taking notes.
- 33:35Speaker 3: At any time that she which was frequently, anytime that
- 33:38Speaker 3: she's around events with Steve or with Woody or with
- 33:43Speaker 3: Rob Reel, she always has a notebook out. I don't know,
- 33:45Speaker 3: I don't know what that's all about. She's always taken
- 33:47Speaker 3: notes on that.
- 33:48Speaker 14: I keep telling her, lower your expectations you'll be fine.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Well she married me. They can't get much lower than that.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Jason's with the Union mission. Thank you so much for
- 33:56Speaker 3: teaming up with this. I mean, let's get serious here
- 34:00Speaker 3: a moment. Jason. You've been in contact with people down there.
- 34:02Speaker 3: People are hurting down there, man.
- 34:04Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean we're talking roads, we're talking homes, schools,
- 34:08Speaker 15: businesses completely demolished.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Read a story in the paper this morning that in
- 34:14Speaker 3: Mingo County there was an entire community that was pretty
- 34:18Speaker 3: much wiped out. And as tends to be the case
- 34:20Speaker 3: where you know, in my part of the world, in
- 34:22Speaker 3: southern West Virginia, you have a lot of families that
- 34:23Speaker 3: live close to each other. Currently have sixteen people living
- 34:27Speaker 3: in one home in Mingo County because all the ones
- 34:29Speaker 3: around them were destroyed and they're all staying with you,
- 34:33Speaker 3: grandma or whatever. So they have sixteen people living in
- 34:35Speaker 3: one home.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Man.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Well, it's real stuff.
- 34:37Speaker 15: Huge shout out to first respond responders down there. I mean,
- 34:41Speaker 15: in two days they did over one hundred and thirty
- 34:42Speaker 15: water rescues.
- 34:44Speaker 3: That's insane, it is.
- 34:45Speaker 14: And I know some people from Charleston. Some of the
- 34:48Speaker 14: rescue units were sent from here and they went down
- 34:50Speaker 14: to help, which was pretty awesome.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, indeed, So here's what we're doing tomorrow.
- 34:55Speaker 3: And it was really kind of interesting because the way
- 34:57Speaker 3: this whole thing came about because we had a meeting
- 35:00Speaker 3: upstairs in a deal Cooper's office last week and different
- 35:03Speaker 3: different folks were in it. Animal wasn't there because there
- 35:07Speaker 3: wasn't food involved, so he wasn't.
- 35:09Speaker 1: There, but we were understanding, we were having we're having.
- 35:11Speaker 3: A conversation up there. Uh and somebody and somebody said,
- 35:14Speaker 3: you know, what what can we do? And I get
- 35:17Speaker 3: a text from Jason basically as if you know, the
- 35:22Speaker 3: Heaven's intervened here saying, hey, call me. I want to
- 35:26Speaker 3: talk about what we can do. I held the phone
- 35:27Speaker 3: up to the people in the office and go, well,
- 35:28Speaker 3: here you go. So what we're doing tomorrow We're going
- 35:31Speaker 3: to set up shop on our parking lot eleven eleven
- 35:34Speaker 3: Virginia Street East and Charleston seven am til six pm. Again,
- 35:37Speaker 3: all of our stations are going to be involved in this,
- 35:40Speaker 3: and I have if you go over to the Mountain
- 35:43Speaker 3: Facebook page, if you go over to any of the
- 35:44Speaker 3: station's Facebook page, just or my personal Day Island Radio,
- 35:47Speaker 3: I've got a list of what we are collected. Now
- 35:50Speaker 3: somebody said, well can I bring this or can I
- 35:52Speaker 3: bring that? You can bring whatever you want. We're just
- 35:55Speaker 3: asking these are the things that we most that are
- 35:58Speaker 3: most being requested by the people that are there.
- 36:02Speaker 1: But you can bring whatever you want. And you can
- 36:04Speaker 1: always bring cash.
- 36:05Speaker 15: To Yeah, we're not going to turn your way. And
- 36:07Speaker 15: absolutely we can. We can stretch that cash out. You
- 36:10Speaker 15: can go to we feed people dot Com give that
- 36:12Speaker 15: way as well. And it's awesome how West Virginia aplatch
- 36:15Speaker 15: and people come together in time of need. Let's do
- 36:17Speaker 15: it one more time, shall we?
- 36:19Speaker 14: Absolutely? And some of the items we're looking for five
- 36:22Speaker 14: gallon reusable buckets, gloves, masks, trash bags, household cleaners, hygiene products, Dave,
- 36:28Speaker 14: we'll get you some too, first aid supplies. And you
- 36:31Speaker 14: said stacks of cash and checks are just awesome. And
- 36:35Speaker 14: Uncle Vito will be there to receive the cash.
- 36:38Speaker 3: And I say all the time that we have the
- 36:40Speaker 3: greatest listeners in the world.
- 36:41Speaker 1: We see it when we did the sock drop with you,
- 36:43Speaker 1: when we've done the backpack attack and all these other
- 36:46Speaker 1: things that we do.
- 36:47Speaker 3: The veteran stuff. I know that animal does over on
- 36:49Speaker 3: the Mountain. I'm standing out front this morning, getting ready
- 36:53Speaker 3: to go on the show, talking to Rich the realtor,
- 36:55Speaker 3: who is my first guest this morning. Lady comes in says, hey,
- 36:58Speaker 3: Hurd it on the radio. Can't be here tomorrow, and
- 37:00Speaker 3: she gave us she brought in like two bags of stuff. Yes,
- 37:02Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, that's that's good stuff. That's why
- 37:05Speaker 3: I say we have the greatest listeners in that. That's amazing.
- 37:08Speaker 15: Yeah. When I first walked in, your your Tracy, Yeah,
- 37:12Speaker 15: she said, look at this, we're already getting There was
- 37:14Speaker 15: six seven, eight, nine, ten bags already at the front,
- 37:17Speaker 15: front desk and is awesome.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Indeed, it is sixteen minutes away from Tien. Today valland
- 37:21Speaker 3: showing five Any Life brought to you in part by
- 37:23Speaker 3: Bridge Valley there Win Academy can provide free college credit
- 37:26Speaker 3: and nursing and advanced manufacturing to students while they're still
- 37:28Speaker 3: in high school. But free college credit and nursing and
- 37:31Speaker 3: advanced manufacturing to students while they're still in high school.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Visit Bridge Valley dot dyu slash Win Academy for more information.
- 37:38Speaker 3: And again those items that we have that Steve just
- 37:40Speaker 3: read to you, that's just some of them, but we're
- 37:43Speaker 3: not limited to that. And I sold the story in
- 37:45Speaker 3: there yesterday. My wife is a shopper by sport. You
- 37:49Speaker 3: know that she loves to shop. And you give her
- 37:52Speaker 3: a well, it's her money, she makes it. She can
- 37:53Speaker 3: do what she wants to do with it. We give
- 37:55Speaker 3: her our project. We say, he goes. She got a
- 37:58Speaker 3: whole lot of stuff at Dollar Tree, I mean on
- 38:03Speaker 3: on over the weekend Sunday, I think it was, and
- 38:05Speaker 3: she and she brought this stuff. So we're not asking you,
- 38:08Speaker 3: you know, to go out and spend a whole lot
- 38:10Speaker 3: of money here. I mean you can get a lot
- 38:11Speaker 3: of stuff that that's on Steve's list that he just
- 38:14Speaker 3: read there at places like Dollar Tree or you know,
- 38:17Speaker 3: your local walies or whatever the care any of those.
- 38:21Speaker 14: Absolutely, and I mean the devastation down there. I just
- 38:25Speaker 14: saw the flood wall around the hospital. That was amazing,
- 38:29Speaker 14: like absolutely amazing that it functioned. It worked, but so
- 38:34Speaker 14: many people have lost. And it's not just you know,
- 38:37Speaker 14: household items are just the cleaning supplies. I mean they
- 38:39Speaker 14: lost clothing. I mean every every article of clothing, whatever
- 38:43Speaker 14: they had on their back is probably what they have
- 38:46Speaker 14: right now to to wear and something.
- 38:49Speaker 3: You know, I've been lucky in my life. I've only
- 38:53Speaker 3: really gone through one flood and then it was just
- 38:55Speaker 3: a building. But I do I've been I reported on
- 38:58Speaker 3: a whole lot of them in Southernwise Virginia. The stuff
- 39:00Speaker 3: that you can't replace, you know, the pictures and things
- 39:03Speaker 3: of that nature that you can't replace. And I will
- 39:06Speaker 3: mention a brief programming note that metroduced talk line with
- 39:09Speaker 3: the Dave Wilson TJ. Meadows. They are going to be
- 39:11Speaker 3: live at the Armory in Welch on Thursday, so you
- 39:15Speaker 3: may want to tune into that. And I presume Jason,
- 39:19Speaker 3: that you guys got a plan on how to distribute
- 39:21Speaker 3: whatever we collect to get to those people down there.
- 39:23Speaker 15: I have people in McDowell County right now assessing where
- 39:27Speaker 15: the best drop off point will be for McDowell County.
- 39:30Speaker 15: We've already got a couple places in Mingo ready to go.
- 39:34Speaker 15: But yeah, we'll be we'll take care of all.
- 39:36Speaker 14: That and again starting tomorrow at seven am in our
- 39:40Speaker 14: lot at eleven eleven Virginia Street, bring what you can
- 39:43Speaker 14: five gallon we usable buckets. I'm repeating it because it's important. Gloves, masks, trash, bags,
- 39:48Speaker 14: household cleaners, hygiene products for st aid supplies, and like
- 39:52Speaker 14: we said, cash and checks and they can go to
- 39:54Speaker 14: your website too to make a monetary donation.
- 39:56Speaker 6: Yea.
- 39:57Speaker 1: And again, and I want to also give a big
- 39:58Speaker 1: shout out to the folks at Chick fil Tom Minturning
- 40:01Speaker 1: those folks.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Anytime we do an event like this, they provide lunch
- 40:06Speaker 3: for us, which is important, but that's not as important
- 40:10Speaker 3: as I mean what they do for the community. They
- 40:13Speaker 3: will frequently and if Tom's listening right now, I don't
- 40:17Speaker 3: know if he's done at this time. He always has
- 40:18Speaker 3: in the past, not putting any pressure on him, but
- 40:21Speaker 3: they've always given us certificates. And so we just pick
- 40:23Speaker 3: random cars out and say here, go go over to
- 40:26Speaker 3: Chick fil A, get some get some of the Lord's chicken.
- 40:28Speaker 1: There you go.
- 40:29Speaker 15: Yeah, Tom's on our board and he does a great
- 40:31Speaker 15: job for us. But man, he is in the community everywhere.
- 40:34Speaker 15: It's pretty awesome to see.
- 40:35Speaker 1: That's very important.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Yeah. And the great thing when we do these is
- 40:38Speaker 3: that you don't even have to get out of your car.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:40Speaker 3: And again, So it's seven am to six pm tomorrow,
- 40:43Speaker 3: And unlike as we mentioned earlier, the last time when
- 40:45Speaker 3: we were all freezing to death out there trying to
- 40:48Speaker 3: collect the socks for the sock drop. This is going
- 40:50Speaker 3: to be a lot better because it's going to be
- 40:52Speaker 3: sixty five degrees. And Ashley, who's kind of putting this
- 40:55Speaker 3: thing together for us upstairs yesterday said I couldn't get
- 40:57Speaker 3: people out of their offices for the sock drop.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Out tomorrow, nobody will get any work done.
- 41:02Speaker 3: All these sales, weasels and whatever, they're all gonna want
- 41:04Speaker 3: to be out there because the weather is going to
- 41:05Speaker 3: be so nice. And again with our stations, with the
- 41:08Speaker 3: power that we have with all of us here. We
- 41:10Speaker 3: have w CCHS, we have Charleston, ESPN Radio, we have
- 41:13Speaker 3: the Mountain, we have kws V one hundred of the
- 41:16Speaker 3: beat KAZ, We've got all these stations, all these personalities.
- 41:19Speaker 3: We're all going to be out there together tomorrow. And
- 41:22Speaker 3: you don't even have to get out of your car, man,
- 41:24Speaker 3: You just make that whatever the it's.
- 41:26Speaker 14: Not going to be like your car jacking. We're going
- 41:28Speaker 14: to be taking stuff from me.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Well, I will say this, if you pulled on the
- 41:31Speaker 1: parking lot and you see Steve Animal approaching your car,
- 41:34Speaker 1: you might roll the windows up and lock the doors.
- 41:36Speaker 1: But it's this time.
- 41:37Speaker 14: I'll also have like your family four pack to the
- 41:41Speaker 14: tough Man tough Man thank you at Millwood tomorrow or
- 41:45Speaker 14: Friday night. Yeah, but I will be giving away a
- 41:47Speaker 14: family four pack tomorrow.
- 41:48Speaker 3: That's for the tough Man contest in Jackson County at Millwood.
- 41:51Speaker 3: We have a text here for you, mister Quintrail. It says,
- 41:55Speaker 3: who do we make checks?
- 41:56Speaker 1: Two? Union Mission?
- 41:57Speaker 3: Okay, Union mission. So if you want to drop off
- 42:00Speaker 3: the check and look, if you can't make it tomorrow,
- 42:02Speaker 3: we'd love to have you seven am to six pm tomorrow.
- 42:05Speaker 3: But if you can't make it tomorrow and you need
- 42:06Speaker 3: to drop them off today, that's fine. Tracy will make
- 42:09Speaker 3: sure she takes care of that out front. But yeah,
- 42:11Speaker 3: you make your checks out to Union Mission, and you
- 42:14Speaker 3: folks will make sure that they get in the right hands.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Yes, sir, absolutely all.
- 42:17Speaker 14: Right, which is awesome. All right, any extra checks you
- 42:20Speaker 14: can go to Steve an all right.
- 42:21Speaker 1: This is why he always takes it too far until
- 42:24Speaker 1: you ask to buy it by Steve a new liver campaign.
- 42:28Speaker 1: All right, animal, I will see you out on the
- 42:30Speaker 1: lot tomorrow and again as an added bonus, we are
- 42:33Speaker 1: going to be doing very all the stations can be
- 42:35Speaker 1: doing giveaways out there tomorrow. Dirty birds are going to
- 42:37Speaker 1: be here.
- 42:38Speaker 3: They're gonna come with some We just kind of pick
- 42:40Speaker 3: random people and say, okay, next, next five cars that
- 42:43Speaker 3: come in, we'll do this, next thing.
- 42:44Speaker 1: You know, we'll do that.
- 42:45Speaker 3: It's awesome.
- 42:46Speaker 14: Yes, I think they'll be washing cars too. And if
- 42:48Speaker 14: they don't know that they are.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Now if you talked to Joe Parsons about the water
- 42:53Speaker 3: bill here, I don't know if that's gonna work. Shut
- 42:57Speaker 3: Steve Animal ninety eight seven A Mountain Wild a wonderful
- 42:59Speaker 3: classic rock and Jason Quittrell appreciate you being here, guys.

- 46:19Speaker 12: the show talking about the flood drive, as you just
- 46:22Speaker 12: heard us talking about that we're doing for the people
- 46:24Speaker 12: of southern West Virginia. Teaming up with the Charleston Dirty
- 46:26Speaker 12: Birds Union Mission and members Choice Federal Credit Union for
- 46:30Speaker 12: that event tomorrow on our parking lot eleven eleven Virginia Street, Dascent, Charleston,
- 46:34Speaker 12: seven am till six pm. Lists of items we need
- 46:37Speaker 12: are posted on all of our station social media pages,
- 46:40Speaker 12: including mine Dave Allen Radio.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Also on tomorrow's show, not the only thing we're going
- 46:44Speaker 3: to talk about. Big event that actually kicks off tomorrow
- 46:47Speaker 3: and runs through the weekend here at Charleston. It is
- 46:49Speaker 3: the annual Celtic Calling Events. We'll spend some time talking
- 46:53Speaker 3: about that on the show as well. Bigley Pickley Wiggly
- 46:57Speaker 3: Hotline three zero four three four five fifth if Tony
- 47:00Speaker 3: the Taylor texts three zero four nine three five five
- 47:03Speaker 3: zero zero eight. I do want to pass this along quickly.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Then we're going to go live to the Capitol. The
- 47:08Speaker 3: Division of Highways is set to host an informational meeting
- 47:11Speaker 3: this evening concerning a road widening proposal in Tayes Valley.
- 47:15Speaker 3: Now this is an area from Great Tayes Boulevard to
- 47:17Speaker 3: Apple Lane. Story posted about at WCS network dot com.
- 47:22Speaker 3: This meeting will run from four intill seven at tays
- 47:25Speaker 3: Valley Christian School in Scott Depot. I love this stuff
- 47:28Speaker 3: because it means progress is happening. People are moving into
- 47:31Speaker 3: my home and my adopted home County.
- 47:33Speaker 1: I love it.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Let's go to the capitol now and talk to Dave
- 47:38Speaker 3: Wilson and TJ. Meadows. Morning fellows, Morning, Dave, what are
- 47:42Speaker 3: you wrong about today? Not a dang thing, Duddy, Not
- 47:45Speaker 3: a dang thing.
- 47:47Speaker 1: So you guys, as I mentioned earlier, you guys are
- 47:49Speaker 1: going down to Welch on Thursday, right, Yeah, the plan
- 47:53Speaker 1: is to go to the Armory in Welch.
- 47:56Speaker 9: That show powered by our friends over at Huntington Bank,
- 47:59Speaker 9: and we're looking forward, Dave, the opportunity to just tell
- 48:03Speaker 9: the stories of the folks down there who have been
- 48:05Speaker 9: dealing with this flooding, how their lives have been impacted,
- 48:08Speaker 9: and how their businesses have been impacted, and how you
- 48:12Speaker 9: all can help out in that recovery effort. Look, Dave,
- 48:15Speaker 9: you know McDowell County used to have what one hundred
- 48:17Speaker 9: thousand people at one time. That population's down to around
- 48:20Speaker 9: three thousand, and they kind of feel forgotten down in
- 48:25Speaker 9: that part of the state.
- 48:26Speaker 5: So we're gonna go.
- 48:27Speaker 9: Down and hopefully share some stories and hopefully help some
- 48:30Speaker 9: folks out down in Wells later this week.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Let's talk about certificate of need. I had David Goldberg
- 48:35Speaker 3: on a little on the show a little bit earlier
- 48:37Speaker 3: talking about it.
- 48:37Speaker 1: It died in the House last night. It is going
- 48:41Speaker 1: to come back up, I'm told in the Senate. What's
- 48:43Speaker 1: your guys take on this?
- 48:45Speaker 9: Well, a couple of different things. One is this was
- 48:49Speaker 9: something that Governor Morrissey is pushing and pushing very hard for,
- 48:55Speaker 9: and so it is significant that the Republican superman Jordy
- 49:00Speaker 9: in the House said, no, excuse something that the governor's
- 49:03Speaker 9: pushing for. And you're right, there's a bill in the Senate.
- 49:06Speaker 9: This is not done by a long stretch, Dave, And
- 49:10Speaker 9: you know as well as anybody here at the Capitol,
- 49:13Speaker 9: it ain't over until it's over, and then it's still
- 49:15Speaker 9: not and it's still over at that Bright Lead's story
- 49:18Speaker 9: this morning at wv Metro News dot Com has to
- 49:21Speaker 9: do with vaccines, and you recall on Friday a bill
- 49:24Speaker 9: allowing for providing religious and philosophical exemptions to West Virginia
- 49:28Speaker 9: school vaccination requirements passed.
- 49:31Speaker 3: It passed in the Senate. Now delegates are going to
- 49:35Speaker 3: good to work out it. Yesterday afternoon, the House Health
- 49:38Speaker 3: Committee had a meeting lasted more than five hours. That
- 49:41Speaker 3: must have been fun to cover. Brad mcelhanny has the
- 49:44Speaker 3: story posted about it. SB for sixty would allow religious
- 49:48Speaker 3: exemptions if a parent or guarding them jacks. The adults
- 49:50Speaker 3: would have to submit an annual written statement requesting a
- 49:54Speaker 3: religious or philosophical exemption. And again you can read more
- 49:56Speaker 3: about it in Brad's story. What are you hearing there?
- 49:59Speaker 9: Actually, God, the same as it was that that bill
- 50:02Speaker 9: is going to I would anticipate that bill sailing through
- 50:05Speaker 9: the House of Delegates. That's just the temperature in the
- 50:08Speaker 9: room right now, Dave. Whether or not you agree with
- 50:11Speaker 9: that or you disagree with that, certainly a lot of
- 50:15Speaker 9: people have very strong takes on the matter. There was
- 50:18Speaker 9: actually some compelling testimony yesterday, Dave, of people who genuinely believe,
- 50:23Speaker 9: one hundred percent, without a doubt, their children suffered adverse
- 50:28Speaker 9: impacts due to vaccinations. Well, is that enough of a
- 50:33Speaker 9: reason to have a blanket, one size fits all policy.
- 50:37Speaker 9: I don't think so, but that seems to be the
- 50:40Speaker 9: direction we're moving here.
- 50:41Speaker 3: So what's on the schedule for today? Who you got
- 50:44Speaker 3: on the show today?
- 50:45Speaker 9: Joe Ellington, House Education Committee chairs going to joy us.
- 50:48Speaker 9: We're going to talk about student discipline a little bit later.
- 50:50Speaker 9: Gino Sharelli, who was on that House, is on that
- 50:53Speaker 9: House Health Committee. He's going to talk a certificate of
- 50:56Speaker 9: need as well as a Senate built for sixty brads.
- 51:00Speaker 9: Stops by and Amelia nicely, we'll hang out with us
- 51:02Speaker 9: as well. Oh, Ryan Cohen Kradick, excuse me, is going
- 51:06Speaker 9: to join us. His son was Cohen Kratick, the middle
- 51:10Speaker 9: school football player in Madison who tragically suffered a head
- 51:13Speaker 9: injury and passed away. There is a bill that has
- 51:16Speaker 9: been introduced to actually by Mike Stewart in the Senate.
- 51:19Speaker 9: It's the Cohen Cretic Student Athlete Safety Act. We'll talk
- 51:22Speaker 9: about that this morning at ten.
- 51:23Speaker 3: All right, can I give you one little friendly piece
- 51:26Speaker 3: of advice, as you and I have managed to get
- 51:27Speaker 3: through this entire segment without fighting, Just one little piece
- 51:30Speaker 3: of advice. Okay, I know it feels kind of weird.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Southern West Virginia. It's pronounced cradock, Cradock, Cradock. I was
- 51:37Speaker 3: going to have the producer ask now, because I'm from Dave,
- 51:41Speaker 3: we get both well anywhere south of Charlton it's pronounced
- 51:45Speaker 3: add a syllable to it. It's pronounced cradock.
- 51:48Speaker 9: Is that kind of like Douvall?
- 51:49Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly like douval. All right, gosh, all right, guys,
- 51:53Speaker 3: we'll be listening. Appreciate you man, thanks a lot.
- 51:55Speaker 9: All right, we'll fight tomorrow.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Wilson the Meadows coming up with talk line at ten
- 52:00Speaker 3: o six from their AARP location at the Capitol. A
- 52:04Speaker 3: couple of quick texts. Tex says Davis wanted to remind
- 52:06Speaker 3: MAGA voters. Gas is still high, food's still high, and
- 52:09Speaker 3: eggs off the chart. Starting to limit how many you
- 52:11Speaker 3: can buy. This is progress. Three thousand people in the
- 52:15Speaker 3: entire county, says a texture. Yeah, counties need consolidated. The
- 52:19Speaker 3: vaccine bill, says a TEXTA takes us back over one
- 52:21Speaker 3: hundred years.
- 52:22Speaker 5: Gotta go.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Thank you so much. All the guests on the show today.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Download the WVRC Media app in the Metro News television
- 52:28Speaker 1: app as well. My producer the A Train, Anthony Harmon
- 52:30Speaker 1: coming up tillmorrow, till then, have fun.
- 52:34Speaker 3: I love somebody
