• 1:53
Speaker 4: we're gonna check in with Stormtracker thirteen meteorologist Brian Hughes
• 1:57
Speaker 4: about that coming up a little bit later on. Looks
• 1:59
Speaker 4: like you think about this weather system, it looks like
• 2:01
Speaker 4: there's going to be a few rounds of it. The
• 2:04
Speaker 4: most severe is going to be overnight tonight. It looks
• 2:07
Speaker 4: like maybe after ten eleven o'clock or so. That's the
• 2:10
Speaker 4: way it looks right now. This is an ever changing thing.
• 2:13
Speaker 4: If you've been watching, Brian, I been following the weather.
• 2:15
Speaker 4: You know, it's kind of kind of a working progress
• 2:18
Speaker 4: right now. Brian will join us talk about that a
• 2:20
Speaker 4: little bit later on. Now everything should be cleared up
• 2:22
Speaker 4: for tomorrow for the Armed Forces parade in South Charleston,
• 2:26
Speaker 4: and Vicky Vaughan from the City of South charles looking
• 2:29
Speaker 4: to join us and talk about that. Our stations will

Speaker 4: I'll be there representing w CCHS tomorrow. Looking forward to
• 2:41
Speaker 4: seeing you there for that. Let's forget some things in
• 2:43
Speaker 4: the news as last night the Canaw County Board of Education. There,
• 2:47
Speaker 4: like a lot of counties around the state, the county
• 2:49
Speaker 4: boards are kind of struggling with what to do over
• 2:51
Speaker 4: what the law says and what the governor's executive order
• 2:55
Speaker 4: says when it comes to vaccines. We'll kind of get
• 2:58
Speaker 4: in that story a little bit later on. Also another
• 3:00
Speaker 4: story in the news, but a lot of folks were
• 3:02
Speaker 4: following and it has to do with smoking at Marty Gracassino.
• 3:05
Speaker 4: There were some folks out there that had put a
• 3:08
Speaker 4: I guess a request for to at least be looked
• 3:10
Speaker 4: at to have an amendment to the Indoor Air Act
• 3:14
Speaker 4: that would allow for smoking at Marty Garcasino. That went
• 3:16
Speaker 4: before the Canal Board of Health and they voted it
• 3:19
Speaker 4: down by a vote to forty two. So we'll talk
• 3:21
Speaker 4: about that coming up a little bit later on. Plus

Speaker 4: A seventy on X And you made me promise when
• 3:54
Speaker 4: we talked last night that you would not let me
• 3:57
Speaker 4: make fun of the name, since you're the one that
• 3:59
Speaker 4: named this dog. The dog's name is Mom Jeans.
• 4:04
Speaker 6: Her name is Mom Jeans. She is if you look
• 4:08
Speaker 6: at the profile that we wrote up for her yesterday
• 4:11
Speaker 6: on Facebook. That would be me that wrote that lots
• 4:14
Speaker 6: of Jean puns, lots of mom puns, so please check
• 4:17
  Speaker 6: that out.
• 4:18
Speaker 4: And mom jeans is a is a name. That's because
• 4:23
Speaker 4: I'll be honest with you, Angie. Sometimes when you come
• 4:25
Speaker 4: up with the animal the names for these animals, I
• 4:27
Speaker 4: don't know what you're talking about, and I have to Usually,
• 4:30
Speaker 4: you know, if Ryan Nicholson is producing the show on Fridays,
• 4:33
Speaker 4: I have to go to Ryan to ask him, Okay,
• 4:34
Speaker 4: what exactly does this mean? And usually it's something to
• 4:37
Speaker 4: do with a video game or something like that. And
• 4:39
Speaker 4: you it's like you and Ryan know what you're talking about.
• 4:41
  Speaker 4: I don't mom jeans.
• 4:42
  Speaker 5: I do know.
• 4:43
Speaker 4: This is a term that just came out, I guess
• 4:44
Speaker 4: within the last ten years or so, to describe jeans
• 4:48
Speaker 4: that somebody who's a mother would wear, like maybe a
• 4:50
Speaker 4: little bit older style. Is that is that right?
• 4:53
Speaker 6: Correct? Like we're thinking like high waisted, acid washed type.
• 4:57
Speaker 4: Of gen So why would you name a dog mom jeans?
• 5:00
Speaker 4: Or do I really want to know?
• 5:02
Speaker 6: So she came in, she had some pub she looked
• 5:06
Speaker 6: like a mother, to put it lightly so so too.
• 5:11
Speaker 6: I was like, she's got to be named something mommy,
• 5:13
Speaker 6: And then the first thing that came in my head
• 5:14
Speaker 6: was mom Jeans and naming her babies after different types
• 5:17
  Speaker 6: of pants.
• 5:18
Speaker 4: Oh wow, oh wow. Okay, so leave it to leave
• 5:21
Speaker 4: it to creative mind of Angie Gillenwater. Okay, so Mom
• 5:24
Speaker 4: Jean's picture is posted as always on my social media.
• 5:27
Speaker 4: You can check out the picture Dave alland Radio and
• 5:29
Speaker 4: Facebook or at Dave a seventy on X. Mom Jeans
• 5:32
Speaker 4: is two years old, sixty two pounds, great with other dogs,
• 5:36
Speaker 4: great with kids, very mannerly, very sweet, young lady. What
• 5:39
Speaker 4: else can you tell us about Mom Jeans?
• 5:42
Speaker 6: She's very playful with other dogs. She's not one of
• 5:45
Speaker 6: those dogs that like is just going to coexist with
• 5:47
Speaker 6: another dog. If you have a dog at home that's
• 5:50
Speaker 6: board or just needs a little buddy, you might want
• 5:53
Speaker 6: to consider fostering or possibly adopting Mom Jeans. She loves
• 5:56
Speaker 6: to play and has a moderate amount of energy. She
• 5:59
Speaker 6: knows when to settle down for a good nap.
• 6:01
Speaker 4: And what kind of dog is she?
• 6:04
  Speaker 6: I would say she's probably like a Lab mix. She's
• 6:07
Speaker 6: pretty large like a lab. She's got like the face
• 6:11
Speaker 6: shape and coloring of a lab. But you know, who
• 6:13
Speaker 6: really knows. She might be a hound husky mix for
• 6:15
  Speaker 6: all weeds.
• 6:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of hard to tell sometimes. Again, we're
• 6:18
Speaker 4: talking with Angie Gillenwater from the Canal Trust and Humane Association,
• 6:21
Speaker 4: with mom jeans our adopt me please, Pet of the Week,
• 6:25
Speaker 4: vax Spade, all that stuff crossed off.
• 6:28
Speaker 6: She has not stayed yet, but we are staying everybody
• 6:31
Speaker 6: in the building before they head out to their forever home.
• 6:34
Speaker 6: So she has caught up on vaccines. She just needs
• 6:36
  Speaker 6: to be stayed.
• 6:38
Speaker 4: Yeah. Coop just said to me in my ear here
• 6:42
Speaker 4: he's producing the show today. They're Spain. Everybody, please please
• 6:46
Speaker 4: make note that you are Spain the animals, not the people.
• 6:48
Speaker 6: Oh, absolutely, absolutely, all right.
• 6:50
Speaker 4: I just want to make sure. I just want to
• 6:52
Speaker 4: make sure, all right. So you folks are going to
• 6:55
Speaker 4: be out about Capital Flea Market. I understand tomorrow, Rank.
• 6:58
Speaker 6: You have Capital Flea Market tomorrow from noon to three
• 7:01
Speaker 6: with adoptable puppies and kittens if we have them.
• 7:04
Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think it's very important because a lot
• 7:07
Speaker 4: of times people will reach out and they'll say, well,
• 7:09
Speaker 4: you know, can they go to this event and go
• 7:10
Speaker 4: to that event? Sometimes all you gotta do is you
• 7:12
Speaker 4: just got to be asked and but sometimes space is
• 7:16
Speaker 4: an issue. But I'm glad to see that. In the weather.
• 7:18
Speaker 4: By the way, we're expecting some severe weather today tonight,
• 7:21
Speaker 4: but by tomorrow it should be fine. So it should
• 7:23
Speaker 4: be great for the Capital flea market and great for
• 7:26
Speaker 4: you to have the pets out there tomorrow.
• 7:29
Speaker 6: Yes, correct, And even if you can't adopt an animal,
• 7:32
Speaker 6: you can still buy and see us talk with us
• 7:35
Speaker 6: about these puppies and kittens. We'd love to have your
• 7:37
  Speaker 6: company tomorrow.
• 7:39
  Speaker 2: All right.
• 7:39
Speaker 4: There is definitely Angie's you well know, a need for
• 7:42
Speaker 4: people to adopt pets, but also a need for people
• 7:45
Speaker 4: to agree to become fosters, as you mentioned that when
• 7:47
Speaker 4: we were talking about Mom Jeans a little bit earlier.
• 7:49
Speaker 4: And you've put some of the foster stories, the actual
• 7:54
Speaker 4: pet fosters on your Facebook page, some great stories on there.
• 8:00
Speaker 6: Yes, a lot of our fosters. We actually have a
• 8:02
Speaker 6: Facebook group for our fosters. We reached out for anyone
• 8:06
Speaker 6: that wanted to, you know, give their testimony to fostering,
• 8:09
Speaker 6: and hopefully it will encourage people that have been thinking
• 8:12
Speaker 6: about it to actually do that and experience the love
• 8:16
Speaker 6: of a foster pet.
• 8:17
Speaker 4: Yeah, because, as we talk about every Weekendsie, sometimes people
• 8:21
Speaker 4: love animals, they're just not in a position to take
• 8:23
Speaker 4: them in on a permanent basis. But there's so many
• 8:25
Speaker 4: opportunities for you be able to be able to help
• 8:28
Speaker 4: out the shelter, whether it's through fostering, whether it's just
• 8:31
Speaker 4: taking the pets out for a walk, you know, taking
• 8:34
Speaker 4: them to the dog park, take them to your home
• 8:36
Speaker 4: just for a little bit and get them out of
• 8:37
Speaker 4: that environment. I know you have all sorts of pets
• 8:40
Speaker 4: available for adoption, but sometimes people like smaller dogs. People
• 8:45
Speaker 4: I know it will reach out to you. They'll reach
• 8:46
Speaker 4: out to this show and say, well, you know, I
• 8:48
Speaker 4: live in a small space. What I'd really love to
• 8:50
Speaker 4: have a smaller pet. And you actually did a little
• 8:53
Speaker 4: post this week about having a bunch of smaller dogs available.
• 8:58
Speaker 6: Yes, we tried to really target what people are looking
• 9:02
Speaker 6: for and what we hear the most at the shelter.
• 9:04
Speaker 6: So we'll try to do those posts that you know,
• 9:06
Speaker 6: I'm looking for housebroken or good with cats, small dogs.
• 9:10
Speaker 6: But we do have quite a bit of small dogs
• 9:12
Speaker 6: available now. They're all in our kennels that say big dogs.
• 9:16
Speaker 6: Even though they're not.
• 9:17
Speaker 4: Don't let that sound for you. You always have a
• 9:21
Speaker 4: good selection there. And speaking of which, how are the
• 9:23
Speaker 4: numbers looking right now, Angie, because I know last week
• 9:25
Speaker 4: you were kind of pushing the panic button as far
• 9:29
Speaker 4: as the numbers go. As a matter of fact, you
• 9:30
Speaker 4: told us last week that the shelter at least as
• 9:33
Speaker 4: of then, could not take any pets in. That we're
• 9:36
Speaker 4: just picked up astrays unless they were sick or had
• 9:38
Speaker 4: some other health issues. Where are we now, So we.
• 9:41
Speaker 6: Are still We're not quite to the point where we
• 9:44
Speaker 6: can't take anybody in. We're still kind of bouncing between
• 9:48
Speaker 6: anywhere from four seventy to five hundred animals in our care.
• 9:51
Speaker 6: We just kind of keep going back and forth and
• 9:53
Speaker 6: back and forth. But we are in a more comfortable
• 9:57
Speaker 6: area now. That does not mean that we a are
• 10:00
Speaker 6: empty or at the numbers that we.
• 10:02
Speaker 4: Should be at exactly. Hey, we had a text here
• 10:05
Speaker 4: and this is actually a good idea. Someone asked about
• 10:08
Speaker 4: West Virginia having a license plate showing support of the
• 10:12
Speaker 4: statewide humane societies, and the text goes on to say, yes,
• 10:16
Speaker 4: we do have one just for wildlife conservation efforts, but
• 10:18
Speaker 4: shelter animals need focus with a portion of those sales
• 10:21
Speaker 4: going to each county shelters. That's a pretty pretty dang
• 10:24
  Speaker 4: good idea, Angie.
• 10:25
Speaker 6: Yeah, I love that idea.
• 10:27
Speaker 4: So I would urge that texture to reach out to
• 10:31
Speaker 4: your local representatives. And you know, I'm not sure where
• 10:35
Speaker 4: their texture is coming from, but to reach out to
• 10:36
Speaker 4: your local legislators, reach out to your elected officials. Maybe
• 10:40
Speaker 4: we can get that done. That's actually a good idea.
• 10:41
Speaker 4: I know I would buy one. I would sign up
• 10:43
Speaker 4: for a definitely, especially especially if we knew that the
• 10:46
Speaker 4: shelter's got a portion of what's going on there. Hey, Angie,
• 10:50
Speaker 4: I appreciate you joining us today. How are the cat
• 10:53
Speaker 4: How are the cat situation looking like up there?
• 10:56
Speaker 6: So cats are The good thing about our cats is
• 10:59
Speaker 6: they are getting all did quickly. As soon as they
• 11:01
Speaker 6: come in, they're pretty much leaving. So that's the good news.
• 11:05
Speaker 6: But we are still just taking in new cats every
• 11:07
Speaker 6: single day. And I will say to give everyone an
• 11:10
Speaker 6: update on the forty two from that one situation where
• 11:14
Speaker 6: the man lifted a palette. Those guys are starting to
• 11:17
Speaker 6: trickle in and be available for adoption. They're all doing great.
• 11:21
Speaker 6: So if you see a kitten named after one of
• 11:23
Speaker 6: the fifty states that is part of that group, if
• 11:26
Speaker 6: you'd like to add them to your hold.
• 11:28
Speaker 4: That was a story we told you. I guess what
• 11:30
Speaker 4: two or three weeks ago or so, where a gentleman
• 11:32
Speaker 4: was doing some work on a construction site and he
• 11:36
Speaker 4: found a palette and he opened up or he I
• 11:38
Speaker 4: guess he pulled up the palette and there were how
• 11:41
Speaker 4: many kittens in there?
• 11:43
Speaker 6: Thirty eight kittens and four mama cats.
• 11:45
Speaker 4: Yeah, they were all like living there, and it's good
• 11:47
Speaker 4: to know that we're able to get those cats adopted.
• 11:50
Speaker 4: All right, So I have another question here where you're
• 11:52
Speaker 4: popular today, Angie. It says I would love to volunteer
• 11:56
Speaker 4: to clean up there, But I have to ask, how
• 11:57
Speaker 4: do you all keep from breaking down crying when you
• 12:00
Speaker 4: see these sweet animals or hear their stories. That's what
• 12:03
Speaker 4: I may have trouble with.
• 12:05
Speaker 6: So's there's more difficult stories than others. Some of them
• 12:11
Speaker 6: might bring you to tears. But when you walk into
• 12:14
Speaker 6: that building, you can feel the love from all of
• 12:16
Speaker 6: our volunteers, all of our staff members, and from the
• 12:18
Speaker 6: animals themselves. So that's one thing that kind of keeps
• 12:21
Speaker 6: me going back every day. Is just the environment itself.
• 12:26
Speaker 6: It might be sad to see them behind kennels, and
• 12:28
Speaker 6: might be sad to see them barking, but knowing that
• 12:31
Speaker 6: you're making a difference in this part of their life
• 12:33
Speaker 6: is something that just kind of warms your heart and
• 12:35
Speaker 6: makes it something that you can do every day.
• 12:38
Speaker 4: Well, what I read into that text is you got
• 12:40
Speaker 4: somebody volunteering to come up there and clean. So I
• 12:43
Speaker 4: would say here's what I would do. To the text,
• 12:45
Speaker 4: I would say, get in touch with Angie and she'll
• 12:48
Speaker 4: start you yesterday. Is that right as a volunteer?
• 12:50
Speaker 6: Absolutely? Yeah, yeah, Or you can just shove up to
• 12:53
Speaker 6: the shelter. If I'm not there, we can still put
• 12:55
  Speaker 6: you to work.
• 12:56
Speaker 4: All right. Hey, Angie, I appreciate you being here. We
• 12:59
Speaker 4: will talk again next week. Thanks a lot.
• 13:01
  Speaker 6: Sounds great.
• 13:01
Speaker 4: I have a good one you as well, Angie Gillawater
• 13:03
Speaker 4: knaw Charleston Humaine Association. Mom Jeans is our pet this week.
• 13:08
Speaker 4: Two years old, sixty two pounds, great with other dogs
• 13:11
Speaker 4: and kids, very mannerly, sweet young lady. Not spade yet
• 13:15
Speaker 4: but will be before she is able to go. So
• 13:18
Speaker 4: don't let that hold you back. And if you want
• 13:19
Speaker 4: to see Mom Jean's picture. I've got it posted over
• 13:22
Speaker 4: on Dave Island Radio on Facebook and at Dave A
• 13:25
Speaker 4: seventy on X And to that texture that reached out
• 13:27
Speaker 4: there about possibly volunteering to clean, I mean, as I said,
• 13:32
Speaker 4: Angie will put you to work. Just call up the
• 13:34
Speaker 4: shelter or just show up at the shelter. That probably
• 13:36
Speaker 4: would be the thing to do. And for you know,

• 16:31
Speaker 4: should start this whole segment over again. Vicky Vaughan from

Speaker 4: the CVB, the Visitors Center here to talk about a Vicky,
• 16:37
Speaker 4: Welcome to the show. Thank you very much, thank you
• 16:39
Speaker 4: for being here. Welcome to our our new studio.
• 16:41
  Speaker 11: Oh it's beautiful.
• 16:42
Speaker 4: I like to say this to people because you's the
• 16:44
Speaker 4: first time you've been in this particular studio.
• 16:46
Speaker 11: I really like it.
• 16:47
Speaker 4: How many years is this big event going on in.
• 16:49
Speaker 12: South sixth annual Armed Forces Day Parade, the Herbert J.
• 16:53
  Speaker 11: Thomas Memorial.
• 16:54
Speaker 12: Yeah, as you know, the hospital in town w Medisine
• 16:58
Speaker 12: Herbert or Thomas Maan Memorial is named after Herbert J. Thomas,
• 17:02
Speaker 12: and this parade is a memorial to him also.
• 17:06
Speaker 4: And you got a special Grand Marshall. I understand, Yes,
• 17:08
  Speaker 4: we do.
• 17:09
Speaker 12: This year, we are going to have Brigadier General Michael Cadle.
• 17:13
Speaker 4: And who is Michael Cadle for people that man.
• 17:15
Speaker 12: He is the director of the Joint Staff of the
• 17:18
Speaker 12: West Virginia National Guard.
• 17:19
Speaker 4: It's quite an honor to have him there. It is,
• 17:22
Speaker 4: it is, it is. So give us the times, the
• 17:24
Speaker 4: details on everything, and then we'll break it down from there.
• 17:27
Speaker 12: Well, tomorrow's Saturday, May seventeenth. We're going to have all
• 17:31
Speaker 12: of our participants in the parade start lining up at
• 17:34
Speaker 12: eleven o'clock and the parade will go off exactly at noon.
• 17:38
Speaker 12: So we want all the people to come down to
• 17:41
Speaker 12: South Charleston plan on parking.
• 17:43
Speaker 11: There's lots of parking lots on C Street and East Street.
• 17:47
Speaker 12: Come down to South Charleston Park, bring the kids, come
• 17:51
Speaker 12: and help us honor the military. We have over fifty
• 17:54
Speaker 12: five units in the parade. So it will start, like
• 17:57
Speaker 12: I said, at exactly twelve.
• 17:58
Speaker 4: And let me just tell you, I've been in a
• 18:00
Speaker 4: lot of parades, Christmas parades and so on and so forth.
• 18:03
Speaker 4: When you say that you folks start at twelve, you
• 18:06
Speaker 4: don't mean twelve on one.
• 18:07
Speaker 11: We started twelve. I want to watch and it's like okay, twelve.
• 18:11
Speaker 4: That's one of the things I like about that, especially
• 18:13
Speaker 4: when we get into because you know when the Christmas
• 18:16
Speaker 4: parades are held, so many of them are held on
• 18:18
Speaker 4: the same day, and our station vehicles are usually in
• 18:21
Speaker 4: those and you know, you wouldn't think that ten or
• 18:23
Speaker 4: fifteen minutes here makes a big difference, but when you're
• 18:26
Speaker 4: doing let's say South Charleston, then you're doing Saint Albans
• 18:29
Speaker 4: and then you're doing Nitro, it does make a big difference.
• 18:31
Speaker 4: So on behalf of a parade, attendees everywhere or parade
• 18:37
Speaker 4: what did you call him? Participants? We thank you for
• 18:41
Speaker 4: your promptness is very important.
• 18:43
Speaker 12: Yes, our mayor is a stickler about the parade starting exactly.
• 18:47
Speaker 4: Oh, I know he is.
• 18:50
Speaker 11: We're always on time.
• 18:51
  Speaker 6: I got you.
• 18:52
Speaker 4: But Dave Allen showing five any Live is brought to

• 19:04

• 19:08
Speaker 4: many units do you say? You ahead?
• 19:09
  Speaker 3: Again?
• 19:10
Speaker 12: We have over fifty five units. And I found out
• 19:13
Speaker 12: yesterday that WVU Medicine Thomas Hospital, they have a coworker
• 19:18
Speaker 12: that is going to bring her horse. It was in
• 19:22
Speaker 12: the Christmas parade and it's awesome. It will stop around
• 19:25
Speaker 12: the kids and let the kids look at it. It's
• 19:28
Speaker 12: a beautiful horse. So we're excited about having that in
• 19:31
Speaker 12: the parade. And of course all the military units. We
• 19:34
Speaker 12: have vfw's Cold War veterans, we have plenty of junior
• 19:39
Speaker 12: ROTC groups, we have the Gold Star Mothers, which will
• 19:43
Speaker 12: put a tear in your eye when you see that.
• 19:45
Speaker 4: Absolutely, Parde, Absolutely, and again it's a salute to the
• 19:48
Speaker 4: military for everything that they've done. And we can again
• 19:52
Speaker 4: the listeners hear me say this over and over again.
• 19:54
Speaker 4: No state has ever done more for its military and
• 19:58
Speaker 4: has given more to this country that I mean. That's
• 20:01
Speaker 4: not that's not me just editorializing. That's a fact. You
• 20:04
Speaker 4: know that West Virginia has lost more people per capita
• 20:08
Speaker 4: than any other state.
• 20:10
Speaker 12: You're exactly right, So please everyone come out to the
• 20:14
Speaker 12: parade tomorrow to honor our military.
• 20:16
Speaker 4: And I know the weather's a concerned a lot of people,
• 20:20
Speaker 4: but it does look like but by by the time
• 20:22
Speaker 4: by twelve o'clock tomorrow, actually, well before then, things should
• 20:25
Speaker 4: be calmed down. There may be a little bit of
• 20:27
Speaker 4: wind tomorrow, but the severe weather and I'm gonna talk
• 20:29
Speaker 4: to Brian Hughes about that a little bit. The severe
• 20:32
Speaker 4: weather is supposed to be out of here by like
• 20:33
Speaker 4: two or three o'clock in the morning. Now, there could
• 20:36
Speaker 4: still be some some winds afterwards, but not no no thunder,
• 20:40
Speaker 4: no lightning, no hail or anything like that for the.
• 20:42
Speaker 12: Parade tomorrow, right, And I haven't had anyone canceled, so
• 20:45
  Speaker 12: that's good.
• 20:45
Speaker 4: That's good. Can people still sign up? Or are you
• 20:47
Speaker 4: all fulled up with this?
• 20:48
Speaker 12: Actually, if you want to be in the parade, if
• 20:51
Speaker 12: you want to give me a call at the South
• 20:54
Speaker 12: Charleston CBB at three oh four seven four six five
• 20:57
  Speaker 12: five five two.
• 20:58
Speaker 11: I'll be glad to put you in parde.
• 21:00
Speaker 4: Okay, because sometimes you know, you can only have so
• 21:02
Speaker 4: many exactly, And it's very easy. It's a very very
• 21:06
Speaker 4: one thing's al easy. It's a very very route, easy route,
• 21:09
Speaker 4: like you said, as far as I mean, you know,
• 21:11
Speaker 4: your lineup is very simple and for those who may
• 21:14
Speaker 4: be attending for the first time, as far as participants
• 21:16
Speaker 4: go explain, because that's that's always another big parade. You
• 21:19
Speaker 4: get there, you're like, okay, where do I Where do
• 21:21
Speaker 4: I go? You folks always do such a great job
• 21:24
Speaker 4: of having people. I mean, it's it's almost like the
• 21:26
Speaker 4: minute that you pass Bob Evans or something, you've got
• 21:29
Speaker 4: people going, okay, go this way, go left, go right
• 21:31
Speaker 4: along every step of the route.
• 21:32
Speaker 12: I have my board members of the Convention and Visitor
• 21:36
Speaker 12: Bureau are events staff, and so they help guide you
• 21:40
Speaker 12: to the places that you need to go.
• 21:42
Speaker 11: But the parade is very simple.
• 21:44
Speaker 12: It starts on Second Avenue, goes at Second Avenue in
• 21:48
Speaker 12: D Street, goes all the way down D Street, and
• 21:51
Speaker 12: at the mound, which is Seventh Avenue, the parade participants
• 21:55
Speaker 12: will turn the left and it will end on East Street.
• 21:58
Speaker 12: So it's real simple these Street, East Streets or D Street,
• 22:01
Speaker 12: Seventh Avenue, East Street.
• 22:03
Speaker 4: And it's easy out too for those of you that
• 22:07
Speaker 4: may have other things to do in the day. Those
• 22:08
Speaker 4: are the participants, because I mean, literally what we normally
• 22:11
Speaker 4: do in all of our stations except for one, are
• 22:14
Speaker 4: going to be there. And I'll explain why I here
• 22:15
Speaker 4: in a mat it. But I mean as soon as
• 22:18
Speaker 4: a participant. As soon as you're done, you get right
• 22:20
Speaker 4: to the end and you hang her right, hang and left.
• 22:22
Speaker 4: You're on sixty. You can just you can continue from there.
• 22:25
Speaker 4: All of our stations are going to be there except
• 22:27
Speaker 4: ninety eight seven A Mountain because we already had a
• 22:29
Speaker 4: prior commitment to do a live broadcast over a to
• 22:31
Speaker 4: Trojan Landing Marinea Power Sports. So Mountain Truck will not
• 22:35
Speaker 4: be there, but we're adding a new one this year.
• 22:38
  Speaker 4: The w c CHS vehicle will be there. That's a
• 22:41
  Speaker 4: that's a that's a new to us, a vehicle that
• 22:43
Speaker 4: we have here at the radio ranch. And I'm going
• 22:46
Speaker 4: to be driving that tomorrow. And also I have I
• 22:49
Speaker 4: got a commitment, at least a verbal commitment, Coop, you'll
• 22:52
Speaker 4: appreciate this from Dave Weekly to be there tomorrow. Weekly.
• 22:54
Speaker 4: And now we're talking about it, and Dave is a
• 22:56
Speaker 4: he's literally he told me he lives like half a
• 22:58
Speaker 4: mile or if even that. So mister Weekley, the host
• 23:02
Speaker 4: of Now, put him on the spot. He has to
• 23:03
Speaker 4: be there. The host of Hotline, which airs on this
• 23:07
Speaker 4: another Metro news station from three to six, Dave Weekly
• 23:09
Speaker 4: says he's going to come out and he's going to
• 23:10
  Speaker 4: ride with me.
• 23:11
Speaker 12: So, oh, that's wonderful. His wife used to take a
• 23:14
Speaker 12: lot of photographs for us.
• 23:15
  Speaker 4: Yeah, she's a wonderful photographer. Yeah, she's a wonderful Linda
• 23:18
Speaker 4: is a wonderful photographer. Tex said, any flyover tomorrow?
• 23:22
Speaker 12: No, No, we have Sean Zananinga who is the new
• 23:26
Speaker 12: marketing director for the city, has tried to get that
• 23:29
Speaker 12: and we have been unsuccessful.
• 23:31
Speaker 4: Maybe next maybe next year. It's something to work on
• 23:33
Speaker 4: for the future. Yeah. Now and again, I know part
• 23:36
Speaker 4: of the CVB there, the Convention Visitor Bureau in South Charleston.
• 23:40
Speaker 4: Give us a little bit about some other things going on.
• 23:42
Speaker 4: I'm going to give you the airtime while you're here.
• 23:43
Speaker 1: What else is going on?
• 23:45
Speaker 4: We just had Sean on the show actually, I think
• 23:47
Speaker 4: it was last week talking about talking about the farmers market.
• 23:50
Speaker 4: So what else is going on? In self?
• 23:52
Speaker 12: So excited about the farmers market. We've got a lot
• 23:55
Speaker 12: of visitation down there. It's so convenient for the people
• 23:58
Speaker 12: who live in South Charleston. And you know, of course
• 24:01
Speaker 12: South Charleston easy off the interstate to get there. But
• 24:05
Speaker 12: also we'll have Summer Fest coming up in August. You know,
• 24:08
Speaker 12: it's August, the week of August thirteenth, Wednesday through Saturday,
• 24:13
Speaker 12: and again, like last year, we will have the we'll
• 24:18
Speaker 12: have fireworks, but we'll also have a drone show, which
• 24:21
Speaker 12: was wildly popular last year, so we'll have that again
• 24:24
Speaker 12: this year. And there's two bands every evening, and so
• 24:28
Speaker 12: the entertainment schedule will be going out soon.
• 24:30
Speaker 11: We'll have posters out soon.
• 24:32
Speaker 12: But you can't beat free entertainment for four nights every
• 24:35
Speaker 12: evening and at the mound, it's wonderful.
• 24:38
Speaker 4: Well, don't worry. Somebody will complain about free entertainment. That
• 24:41
Speaker 4: don't get me started on that. Every year when we
• 24:43
Speaker 4: released the information for Live on the Levee or we
• 24:45
Speaker 4: release information for where God or whatever, people take to
• 24:48
Speaker 4: social media to complain about it. And I'm like, it's free. Yeah,
• 24:51
Speaker 4: you know, it's free. But I mean, here's the thing
• 24:55
Speaker 4: about it here in the Kanaw Valley. And I say
• 24:57
Speaker 4: this every Friday on the show. If you can't find
• 25:00
Speaker 4: something to do, that's on you. There is every community
• 25:04
Speaker 4: in the Canal Valley has something going on during the
• 25:07
Speaker 4: warm weather months. I mean, like tomorrow, I'll give you
• 25:10
Speaker 4: an example over in Elk City and I had those
• 25:13
Speaker 4: folks on the show yesterday. They're having their block party
• 25:15
Speaker 4: tomorrow starts, so I think it's going to be noon
• 25:17
Speaker 4: to six. So you could go to South Charleston taking
• 25:20
Speaker 4: the parade, then head over to Elk City. They've got bands,
• 25:23
Speaker 4: they got food trucks and everything except obviously if you
• 25:26
Speaker 4: want to buy the food, but all the entertainment is free, right,
• 25:29
Speaker 4: something for the entire family.
• 25:31
Speaker 12: And WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals said that they're going to
• 25:34
Speaker 12: have food trucks tomorrow also, so you know, if you
• 25:37
Speaker 12: if you don't want to go to Elk City, you
• 25:39
Speaker 12: have South Charleston and then of course all the restaurants
• 25:42
Speaker 12: we have in downtown South Charleston.
• 25:44
Speaker 11: You know, there'll be a lot of opportunities there.
• 25:47
Speaker 4: And your restaurant scene. You know, you got me as
• 25:49
Speaker 4: soon as you started talking about restaurants, because that's kind
• 25:51
Speaker 4: of my thing. You know, the in in South Charleston.
• 25:55
Speaker 4: You've got some really good restaurants, we really do.
• 25:57
  Speaker 13: You know.
• 25:57
Speaker 12: We have a lot of you know, mediterrane in Olive Tree,
• 26:01
Speaker 12: and then a lot of Asian restaurants that are really good.
• 26:04
Speaker 12: We have Yen's, which has been written up several times
• 26:08
Speaker 12: and foven long and then of course Elephant Tie, the
• 26:12
Speaker 12: newer restaurant that people are crazy about. And then there's
• 26:17
Speaker 12: Happy Days if you want burger fries and hot dogs,
• 26:20
Speaker 12: and there's Happy Days. So there's a lot of good
• 26:22
Speaker 12: food in South Charleston, so come and come and enjoy it,
• 26:25
  Speaker 12: come visit us.
• 26:26
Speaker 4: Yeah, and a lot of stuff at a lot of
• 26:28
Speaker 4: great things going on in South Charleston. Of course you
• 26:31
Speaker 4: got the new shopping complex. It's it's coming coming along exactly.
• 26:35
Speaker 12: And then don't forget at the Label Theater on Friday
• 26:38
Speaker 12: and Saturday evening they have free movies and and they're
• 26:42
Speaker 12: mainly children's movies, so families can really afford to take.
• 26:46
  Speaker 11: The kids out.
• 26:47
Speaker 12: All they have to do is buy some popcorn and
• 26:49
Speaker 12: a drink and maybe some candy and enjoy a free movie.
• 26:52
Speaker 4: So if somebody could take Ron Hughes, that's what you're saying, right,
• 26:55
Speaker 4: have him enjoy the have enjoyed the film, all right, Vicky,
• 26:58
Speaker 4: before we let you go, give us give us a
• 27:00
Speaker 4: all the particulars again, the time and so on.
• 27:02
Speaker 12: So the Pravee will start at twelve noon and it
• 27:05
Speaker 12: begins at Second Avenue in D Street. It will turn
• 27:10
Speaker 12: at the Mound, which is on Seventh Street, seventh Avenue,
• 27:14
Speaker 12: and it will go down and end at East Street.
• 27:16
Speaker 12: So it's very easy d Street, Seventh Avenue and.
• 27:19
Speaker 4: End on the E and you're done there.
• 27:21
Speaker 12: And lots of side parking lots on C Street and
• 27:24
Speaker 12: East Street that you can that you can park and
• 27:27
Speaker 12: then come find your spot, you know, bring your bag,
• 27:29

• 27:45
  Speaker 11: So that's a great idea.
• 27:47

• 32:02
Speaker 4: and I learned this from watching your weather forecast this morning,
• 32:05
Speaker 4: other than just a little wind, we should be okay tomorrow.
• 32:09
Speaker 4: But it's getting there, Brian. That's going It's going to
• 32:12
Speaker 4: be the difficult part.
• 32:13
Speaker 3: Right It absolutely is going to be. And listen, it's
• 32:17
Speaker 3: one of those days that listen. We've rebooted every camera,
• 32:21
Speaker 3: we've rebooted every computer to make sure we're running tiptop
• 32:23
Speaker 3: shape because it's going to be very active. Listen as
• 32:26
Speaker 3: we go through the day today. You know, I'm watching
• 32:29
Speaker 3: the radar right now, and we've got showers in the
• 32:30
Speaker 3: storms that are off to the west of us that
• 32:33
Speaker 3: we continue to monitor. There's some showers. There are cross
• 32:37
Speaker 3: portions of southeast Kentucky rather preston Burg area some showers.
• 32:41
Speaker 3: There's even some showers in Lincoln County right now. And
• 32:44
Speaker 3: while these are all moving off to the east, what
• 32:47
Speaker 3: we're really watching is going to be the thunderstorms that
• 32:51
Speaker 3: develop as we go into the midday and afternoon hours,
• 32:54
Speaker 3: and some of those will be strong too severe. We
• 32:57
Speaker 3: are looking at gusty winds and frequent lightning, very heavy downpours,
• 33:02
Speaker 3: and we can't rule out an isolated tornado. But as
• 33:05
Speaker 3: we head into this evening, the early evening hours, we
• 33:09
Speaker 3: are going to get a hair bit of a break,
• 33:11
Speaker 3: and that break is going to be, you know, as
• 33:15
Speaker 3: we have about the three to four hour break sometime
• 33:18
Speaker 3: after about six or seven o'clock, and then we get
• 33:21
Speaker 3: into the late night hours and anywhere between nine and eleven,
• 33:26
Speaker 3: we've got a big line of storm that's going to
• 33:28
Speaker 3: move through and we'll be able to see this listen.
• 33:30
Speaker 3: It's going to be starting out there around Cincinnati, Louisville,
• 33:33
Speaker 3: it'll move through Lexington. We're gonna have a good heads
• 33:35
Speaker 3: up as to what damage it's doing power outages, and
• 33:40
Speaker 3: there's a good chance at Spencer, myself, the whole team
• 33:43
Speaker 3: that we might be on the air tonight nine o'clock
• 33:45
Speaker 3: through maybe midnight watching this entire line of storms do
• 33:49
Speaker 3: some damage, taking out some power lines, trees, things of
• 33:52
Speaker 3: that nature. And so we'll look at the power outage
• 33:56
Speaker 3: becoming an issue as we're going to the late night
• 33:58
Speaker 3: in overnight hours. So one thing we say is be prepared.
• 34:02
Speaker 3: Make sure you have everything charged ready to go to nine,
• 34:05
Speaker 3: because if you do is power. I mean, you want
• 34:07
Speaker 3: to be able to still call the other family, I member,
• 34:09
Speaker 3: say you're okay, everything's fine, or checking in or neighbors
• 34:12
Speaker 3: things like that. But if you do have a generator,
• 34:15
Speaker 3: hopefully you can double check it and test it. This
• 34:17
Speaker 3: s after in this evening before the storm move in.
• 34:19
Speaker 3: So just be prepared because of the late night hours,
• 34:22
Speaker 3: those wind speeds can be seventy five or higher.
• 34:25
Speaker 4: I mean when you talk about having wind speeds Brian
• 34:28
Speaker 4: of seventy five to eighty miles or even higher in
• 34:30
Speaker 4: an area like this, We're just really not used to
• 34:33
Speaker 4: that sort of thing.
• 34:35
Speaker 3: Right, And you know, I've had more people are who
• 34:39
Speaker 3: are concerned that this is you know, the ratio type stuff,
• 34:42
Speaker 3: and you know, are we going to get close to it?
• 34:45
Speaker 3: We might be flirting with stuff like that, But more
• 34:48
Speaker 3: than anything, you know, this is going to be just
• 34:51
Speaker 3: a storm system that is going to be stout. It's
• 34:53
Speaker 3: going to be one of those that we go, well,
• 34:55
Speaker 3: I'm going to remember that for a number of years.
• 34:58
Speaker 3: Some people will some people are going to be, you know,
• 35:01
Speaker 3: just dealing with some good old showers and storms, but
• 35:03
Speaker 3: that line of wind is going to be concerning right
• 35:06
Speaker 3: on the leading edge of it, and it might have
• 35:08
Speaker 3: an isolated tornado or two as we head into the
• 35:10
Speaker 3: nine time hours. So we're prepped, we've got extra staffing,
• 35:14
Speaker 3: we're ready to go for the sevening end tonight.
• 35:16
Speaker 4: I mean, it's going to be a serious situation. At
• 35:17
Speaker 4: least it has the potential to be. We're talking to
• 35:19
Speaker 4: media roligs Brian Huseman Storm Tracker thirteen and as you
• 35:22
Speaker 4: well know, it's kind of a running joke between between
• 35:25
Speaker 4: me and you and some other folks that everybody, when
• 35:27
Speaker 4: you guys put up a post on social media, everybody says,
• 35:30
Speaker 4: what's it going to be like? And they want to know,
• 35:32
Speaker 4: in you know, my particular one mile radio, what time
• 35:35
Speaker 4: is it going to hit you know this area or whatever,
• 35:38
Speaker 4: And it's it's very difficult to pinpoint those things because
• 35:42
Speaker 4: and I'll use a great example when what was a
• 35:45
Speaker 4: month or so ago when we had that massive hailstorm.
• 35:47
Speaker 4: I live in Tay's Valley. I was sending you guys
• 35:50
Speaker 4: videos from my front porch. We still haven't recovered from
• 35:52
Speaker 4: that or screens are still shattered. We're dealing with the
• 35:55
Speaker 4: insurance company and stuff right now. Five miles down the
• 35:59
Speaker 4: road they got basically nothing. So it's it's kind of
• 36:01
Speaker 4: hard to pinpoint what's going to happen in a particular.
• 36:05
Speaker 3: Area, right and that's and that's what we're looking at
• 36:08
Speaker 3: for the storms as we go through the midday and
• 36:11
Speaker 3: afternoon hours. Those are hard to pinpoint exactly where they're
• 36:14
Speaker 3: going to occur. We know they're going to be around
• 36:15
Speaker 3: I sixty four points south, but it's the nighttime storms.
• 36:19
Speaker 3: We're fairly confident in what's going to happen as we
• 36:22
Speaker 3: go into the late night hours, and that's going to
• 36:24
Speaker 3: be that line. It's called a mesoscale convective system if
• 36:27
Speaker 3: it if it is Durratio's style, that would be classified
• 36:30
Speaker 3: essentially after we get done. So that's a post analysis
• 36:34
Speaker 3: style event, where in the in the moment we might
• 36:37
Speaker 3: say it could be similar to it, but you know,
• 36:39
Speaker 3: that's how we determine it is after the event. But
• 36:42
Speaker 3: we definitely are watching, you know that, because that's going
• 36:45
Speaker 3: to be the main event. But the storms this afternoon
• 36:48
Speaker 3: into the early evening hours, those are going to be
• 36:50
Speaker 3: a little bit. They're going to test some people's patience
• 36:53
  Speaker 3: for sure.
• 36:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, and and you mentioned about the DU ratio, and
• 36:56
Speaker 4: I remember that well because I was in Logan at
• 36:59
Speaker 4: the time and we went a week and a day.
• 37:01
Speaker 4: I think it was a no power lost everything in
• 37:03
Speaker 4: the refrigerator. And that's what people want to know, they say,
• 37:06
Speaker 4: is this is going to be another do ratio. But
• 37:07
Speaker 4: I think it's important that you pointed that out. That's
• 37:09
Speaker 4: not something that you don't get that determination. They don't
• 37:12
Speaker 4: do a D ratio watch, for example. You don't get
• 37:15
Speaker 4: that until afterwards, right right.
• 37:18
Speaker 3: And that's something you know, we many times can look
• 37:21
Speaker 3: at it and go, okay, we know that they are
• 37:23
Speaker 3: the parameters there for it. But this is one of
• 37:26
Speaker 3: those things where you know it's going to be close,
• 37:29
Speaker 3: but probably not at that because what you really need
• 37:32
Speaker 3: for a duration, you need temperatures that are in the hundreds. Yeah,
• 37:35
Speaker 3: typically upper nineties, one hundreds ahead of that to get
• 37:39
Speaker 3: a good storm system. So this is what we call
• 37:41
Speaker 3: mesoscale convective system. And it's going to give us a
• 37:46
Speaker 3: run for our money this evening, for sure.

Speaker 4: let you go, Tex says, Does Brian happen to know
• 38:03
Speaker 4: why it seems that ticks are so bad this early
• 38:07
Speaker 4: in the year. I've pulled two off already.
• 38:09
  Speaker 5: Uh.
• 38:10
Speaker 4: Put away your meteorology uh degree, and let's go to techology.
• 38:13
Speaker 4: What do you know about ticks, mister Hughes.
• 38:16
Speaker 3: Well, the thing that we had last year was we
• 38:18
Speaker 3: were actually looking at you know, we had a dryer
• 38:22
Speaker 3: winter versus you know, and then we had spring became
• 38:26
  Speaker 3: fairly wet.
• 38:27
Speaker 4: So uh but spring was wet more in.
• 38:29
Speaker 3: The month of May than it was anytime before that,
• 38:32
Speaker 3: So you had you didn't have the moisture essentially, where
• 38:35
Speaker 3: these those ticks can bury in and and uh bury
• 38:38
Speaker 3: in the ground, burying, you know, in the plants and
• 38:41
Speaker 3: survive a little bit better. I mean, listen, I picked
• 38:44
Speaker 3: three of them off of my little dog as well,
• 38:46
  Speaker 3: so she's she doesn't like it when I grab a
• 38:48
Speaker 3: hold every now, Mike, let's check. But this year we've
• 38:52
Speaker 3: been fairly wet, and we all said a wet winter.
• 38:55
Speaker 3: While we did get very cold for a while, it's
• 38:57
Speaker 3: not like that's going to kill anything all particularly, but
• 39:00
Speaker 3: we've had a lot of moisture to deal with, and
• 39:02
Speaker 3: they thrive when it's a wetter winter going into a
• 39:05
  Speaker 3: relatively wet spring.
• 39:07
Speaker 4: All right, before we let you go, let's set the
• 39:09
Speaker 4: timeline again, because I know about it. When I came
• 39:11
Speaker 4: into work, it was humid this morning, about seven point
• 39:14
Speaker 4: thirty and it looked like into one of my coworkers
• 39:17
Speaker 4: kids said minutes skin, look as you were in to
• 39:18
Speaker 4: store my kech here where I am in the building,
• 39:20
  Speaker 4: I don't have a window, so I don't know whether
• 39:22
Speaker 4: it did or not. But let's kind of set the
• 39:25
Speaker 4: timeline for the Greater Kanau Valley for the rest of
• 39:29
Speaker 4: the day and into tonight.
• 39:31
Speaker 3: Thunderstorms are possible as we go through the midday into
• 39:35
Speaker 3: the early afternoon and late afternoon hours, and those will
• 39:38
Speaker 3: be isolated thunderstorms. One or two clusters could pass through,
• 39:43
Speaker 3: and those are the threats of severe thunderstorm winds as
• 39:46
Speaker 3: well as hail and also isolated tornadoes. Still you can
• 39:50
Speaker 3: get some heavy rainfall with that. But as we head
• 39:53
Speaker 3: into the late night hours for the Canal Valley, we're
• 39:55
Speaker 3: expecting sometime after nine closer to eleven o'clock, anywhere between
• 40:01
Speaker 3: ten and night, but more closer to eleven o'clock. We
• 40:03
Speaker 3: have a line of thunderstorms that'll move through and those
• 40:05
Speaker 3: will have significant wins Kible being seventy five or higher,
• 40:09
Speaker 3: Cable being higher than seventy five, and also an isolated
• 40:13
Speaker 3: tornado threats. After the wind dies, often we're going to
• 40:16
Speaker 3: have that heavy rain that sticks with us for a while,
• 40:18
Speaker 3: and our flood threat goes up at that point, so
• 40:22
Speaker 3: we could have some flash flood warnings immediately following that,
• 40:24
Speaker 3: and we do have a floodwatch that has already been
• 40:26
Speaker 3: issued for our area.
• 40:28
Speaker 4: It's going to be a rough twenty four hours. We'll
• 40:29
Speaker 4: get through it. O Brian, I appreciate you and a
• 40:31
Speaker 4: good opportunity to remind folks if you don't have that

• 41:12
Speaker 4: you're going to start to see some setups, as I said,
• 41:14
Speaker 4: and there will be delays and changes in your routine
• 41:17
Speaker 4: if you're navigating Charleston streets and neighborhoods. Now, the City
• 41:21
Speaker 4: of Charleston is doing a great job of giving out
• 41:24
Speaker 4: all the details way ahead of time. You can get
• 41:27
Speaker 4: it on their website, you can go to their social media.
• 41:29
Speaker 4: They've got it all lined out for you. It's you know,
• 41:35
Speaker 4: if you're navigating the city, the residential neighborhood's downtown, you
• 41:38
Speaker 4: know there's a little bit of a delay here and there.
• 41:40
Speaker 4: But for all these people that are coming into Charleston
• 41:42
Speaker 4: and all the money that they're spending. I mean, as
• 41:45
Speaker 4: I was talking to Tim Brady earlier, I said, you know,
• 41:47
Speaker 4: the city of Charleston basically triples its population over the
• 41:50
Speaker 4: next week. He said that was a little bit of
• 41:51
Speaker 4: an exaggeration. I'll say it doubles. How's that. So just
• 41:55
Speaker 4: as they say no, before you go, there's plenty of
• 41:57
Speaker 4: information out there that'll tell you whin streets are going
• 42:00
Speaker 4: to be closed, what areas to avoid, and on what days.
• 42:03
Speaker 4: Because it's a rolling thing, so it's not always going
• 42:06
Speaker 4: to be the same street at the same time. So
• 42:08
Speaker 4: just go to their Facebook page. That's the best way
• 42:11
Speaker 4: to get into that. Older adults should protect themselves against

Speaker 4: got lots to get to. We are going to talk

Speaker 4: to the Governor. Governor Patrick Morrissey is going to be
• 45:06
Speaker 4: on the show today. Mount to your baseball team. Of
• 45:08
Speaker 4: course they didn't win last night, but they still clinched

Speaker 4: following another team's loss. So we're going to talk with

Speaker 4: It's Friday, which means we'll be doing our lunch spot program.
• 45:30
Speaker 4: We have a different restaurant each week from somewhere around

• 45:40
Speaker 4: on the menu, and that is coming up on the
• 45:43
Speaker 4: show today. We'll get into that. Plus something I did
• 45:47
Speaker 4: on the local show you may remember a couple of
• 45:48
Speaker 4: years ago, and the demand was so great for me
• 45:51
Speaker 4: to do it on the state wide show. I say
• 45:52
Speaker 4: that tongue in cheek and that is graduation advice from me,
• 45:57
Speaker 4: Dave down. You remember I did that a couple of
• 45:59
Speaker 4: years ago. Still hearing about it, so I thought we'll
• 46:02
Speaker 4: give it a year so rast and bring it back.
• 46:04
Speaker 4: So yeah, during the two o'clock hour, I'm going to
• 46:06
Speaker 4: do graduation advice from me, Dave Allen for the class
• 46:09
Speaker 4: of twenty twenty five. He're not going to want to
• 46:12

• 46:22
Speaker 4: in the news I wanted to mention Morgan Pemberton with
• 46:25
Speaker 4: the story this morning wv Metronews dot com. The Canal
• 46:29
Speaker 4: Charleston Board of Health has voted down emotion to amend
• 46:33
Speaker 4: the Clean Indoor Air regulation rules that would have allowed
• 46:37
Speaker 4: Marty Gros Casino and Resort to have designated areas for
• 46:41
Speaker 4: smoking now. The president of the Board, Jeremy Nelson, said,
• 46:45
Speaker 4: most of the comments that the board received during the
• 46:47
Speaker 4: public comment period were unfavorable toward allowing smoking there, and
• 46:52
Speaker 4: the folks at the casino, many of them have thought, well,
• 46:54
Speaker 4: if we have a designated smoking area, we're going to
• 46:56
Speaker 4: get more people in here, and can they let the
• 47:00
Speaker 4: public comment on it? And the public basically said no,
• 47:03
Speaker 4: and so ultimately the board had the ultimate decision, and
• 47:07
Speaker 4: so it's an og. The amendment in front of the
• 47:09
Speaker 4: board was voted down four to two and again Morgan
• 47:11
Speaker 4: Pemberton has the story posted about it. Over it to
• 47:14
Speaker 4: wv metronews dot com. Also the vaccination issue for school
• 47:17
Speaker 4: kids in light of what the law says versus what
• 47:22
Speaker 4: the governor's executive order says. Last night, the Kenaw County
• 47:25
Speaker 4: Board of Education said they want to move forward with
• 47:28
Speaker 4: legal help in determining exactly what to do now. You'll
• 47:32
Speaker 4: recall state law currently doesn't allow for religious exemptions to
• 47:36
Speaker 4: the vaccine mandate, and the legislature rejected a proposed bill
• 47:41
Speaker 4: that would have changed state code the governor has made
• 47:45
Speaker 4: it clear following his executive order, which he issued the
• 47:48
Speaker 4: executive order prior to the session. The Governor again, Chief
• 47:52
Speaker 4: Plug will be on Metro News midday to day. The
• 47:54
Speaker 4: Governor has made it plain that he wants folks to
• 47:57
Speaker 4: follow the executive order. Well, we'll see, because now county
• 48:03
Speaker 4: school systems started to ask questions about that. Ohio County
• 48:06
Speaker 4: was the first one that came out and said, look,
• 48:07
Speaker 4: we got to get legal clarification on this. Now it
• 48:10
Speaker 4: looks like, following what I what I read as part
• 48:13
Speaker 4: of Aaron's story wv Metro News dot com, that the
• 48:17
Speaker 4: Canawha County Board of Education is going to do the
• 48:19
Speaker 4: same thing. Uh, as far as having you know, at
• 48:22
Speaker 4: least some legal clarity, because you got these you have
• 48:25
Speaker 4: these two sides. You know, you don't you don't know,
• 48:31
Speaker 4: I mean, do you follow the law? Do you follow
• 48:32
Speaker 4: what the governor says? The governor says what he says
• 48:34
Speaker 4: in the executive order, Trump's law of the legislature voted
• 48:37
Speaker 4: in a different way. So uh, again, all it kind
• 48:40
Speaker 4: of leaves these school systems, uh and bit of a
• 48:43
Speaker 4: holding pattern here. So that's why many of them are
• 48:46
Speaker 4: going to do this. So far, Ohio and Canaha Counties
• 48:49
Speaker 4: have done that. Said, look, we got to you gotta
• 48:51
Speaker 4: have some some legal standing here, and so again. Go
• 48:55
Speaker 4: over to read Aaron Parker's story about it at WV
• 48:58
Speaker 4: Metro News dot com. Textays, Hey, Dave, please clarify what
• 49:00
Speaker 4: and when streets will be closed for bikes. If I
• 49:03
Speaker 4: did that, it would probably take up well into TJ
• 49:07
Speaker 4: and Dave's spots on talk line. So the best thing
• 49:11
Speaker 4: I could tell you to do. The City of Charleston
• 49:13
Speaker 4: has done a fantastic job of spelling it all out.
• 49:16
Speaker 4: If you're a Facebook person, go over to the City
• 49:19
Speaker 4: of Charleston's Facebook page. They've got everything. They're doing updates
• 49:22
Speaker 4: like a couple times a day to let people know
• 49:24
Speaker 4: what they need to know. I could. I could read
• 49:26
Speaker 4: the entire list here for you, but if I do,
• 49:28
Speaker 4: it's just going to confuse you simply because there's so
• 49:31
Speaker 4: many You can see it for yourself. Go over. Do
• 49:34
Speaker 4: what Grandpa here does. Go to the page and screenshot it.
• 49:36
Speaker 4: That's what I do, and that way I can easily
• 49:38
Speaker 4: pull it up on my phone. But go check out
• 49:40
Speaker 4: their Facebook page. I'm sure it's available on their website.
• 49:42
Speaker 4: As well, and again on Monday, we're going to pretty
• 49:44
Speaker 4: much devote the entire show to the biking events. I
• 49:47
Speaker 4: don't know exactly who's going to be here. I'm working
• 49:49
Speaker 4: with the City of Charleston on that. I'm going to
• 49:50
Speaker 4: say probably the mayor and others. Tim Brady, possibly from
• 49:54
Speaker 4: the CVB, and maybe even some of the bikers will
• 49:56
Speaker 4: be here on the show as well. It's coming up
• 49:58
Speaker 4: on Monday. TJ. Meadows is here. How you doing, man,
• 50:01
Speaker 4: good buddy? How are you you are really? Buddy? Taking
• 50:05
Speaker 4: this Friday golf shirt? What did you call it? It's
• 50:09
Speaker 4: fun golf shirt Friday? And to another level. I mean,
• 50:14
Speaker 4: I don't really know what to think about that. I
• 50:17
Speaker 4: wasn't a kid of the sixties, but I would think
• 50:20
Speaker 4: that if I saw that, I would have thought I'd
• 50:22
Speaker 4: dropped acid. And I've never dropped acid in my life.
• 50:25
Speaker 4: But I'm just saying, now I drop now, I drop
• 50:28
Speaker 4: an acid. That's what I dropped now. But uh, that's
• 50:31
  Speaker 4: a that's that's that's an interesting I'm not hating on it, brother,
• 50:34
Speaker 4: I'm just saying it's different. So all you got to
• 50:36
Speaker 4: do is were golf shirts.
• 50:37
Speaker 13: I have a few, and if I'm going to keep
• 50:40
Speaker 13: this up. Maybe I'll get a few more. I let
• 50:41
Speaker 13: my daughters pick them out. It's part of the persona.
• 50:45
  Speaker 14: You know.
• 50:45
Speaker 4: They come rocking the sunglasses this morning too. Have you
• 50:49
Speaker 4: have you looked outside?
• 50:50
  Speaker 3: Well?
• 50:50
Speaker 4: These are prescription if that tells you anything. And I
• 50:53
Speaker 4: had a pair of prescription sunglasses and one day my
• 50:55
Speaker 4: prescription ran out. It was it was horrible. Yeah, bumping
• 50:57
Speaker 4: into snunt. Nobody's ever laughed at that joke in history,
• 51:00
Speaker 4: but I keep trying. That's my dad's joke. You know,
• 51:03
Speaker 4: you talk about dad joke, that really is your dad's show.
• 51:05
Speaker 4: That really one of my dad's jokes. I'm really upset
• 51:08
Speaker 4: that you and I are not over at Sleepy Hollow
• 51:10
Speaker 4: right now because Steve Animal from her sister station ninety
• 51:12
Speaker 4: eight seven A mouth and over there broadcasting live from
• 51:15
Speaker 4: the golf tournament for the Dumont to Try County YMCA,
• 51:18
Speaker 4: You and I show. I was there last year, but
• 51:20
Speaker 4: then they gave me another job in the afternoon, so
• 51:22
  Speaker 4: I can't do that anymore.
• 51:23
Speaker 13: You wouldn't get anything out of me. I'd be trying to,
• 51:25
Speaker 13: you know, play in the range, and you know it
• 51:28
Speaker 13: happens to be a club.
• 51:29
  Speaker 4: I'm a quite a bit. All right, let's talk about
• 51:31
Speaker 4: to play. Let's talk about the show. What do you
• 51:32
  Speaker 4: got today?
• 51:33
  Speaker 3: Man?
• 51:33
Speaker 13: So coming up at ten oh six, we're going to
• 51:35
Speaker 13: talk with doctor Matthew Christiansen.
• 51:37
  Speaker 4: Uh.
• 51:38
Speaker 13: He appeared in an article quoted in the New York
• 51:40
Speaker 13: Times yesterday prescription drug deaths. Drug deaths overall are down,
• 51:45
Speaker 13: and that includes here in West Virginia. So we're going
• 51:48
Speaker 13: to dive into that, understand what's working, and talk about
• 51:52
Speaker 13: the points that he raised in that article. He's got
• 51:54
Speaker 13: very salient points about this issue, and one of them
• 51:57
Speaker 13: is some of the money may be running out, all
• 51:59
Speaker 13: right with a budget cuts. So special guest at ten forty.
• 52:02
Speaker 13: That's all I can tell you right now. You do
• 52:03
Speaker 13: not want to miss this show at ten forty.
• 52:06
Speaker 4: Well, if it's who I think it is, we've already
• 52:08
Speaker 4: talked about it. We have. You broke the news, broke
• 52:12
Speaker 4: the news yesterday that Marty Brandan was gonna be on
• 52:14
Speaker 4: the show today. Sorry you didn't tell me. I couldn't.
• 52:17
Speaker 4: Matter of fact, I got it.
• 52:18
Speaker 7: We didn't even break the news on earl.
• 52:20
Speaker 4: A matter of fact, I got a text here somebody say,
• 52:22
Speaker 4: what time is Marty? Brendaman gonna be on the show today.
• 52:24
  Speaker 4: Sorry you didn't tell me I couldn't. You're all right,
• 52:27
Speaker 4: Marty Brenneman coming up a ten forty. I'm talking. Hey, everybody,
• 52:31
Speaker 4: be safe out there with all this wicked weather coming in.
• 52:33
Speaker 4: Amanda Baron and I coming up at noontime today with
• 52:36
Speaker 4: Metro News Midday, powered by Selango Law. We'll see you then.
• 52:39
Speaker 4: Until then, have fun, love somebody sorry,
