- 0:14Well, I was hoping that today would be a, let's get back to
- 0:18normal day. Didn't work out that way, who
- 0:25will break Christmas break was supposed to end yesterday.
- 0:29And it sort of dead took that the schools ended up on a
- 0:32two-hour delay. Because we have bad weather
- 0:35here, snow ice. So instead of going to school at
- 0:407:00 in the morning, the boys went to school at 9:00 in the
- 0:43morning which kind of screwed up our day because in our other
- 0:48granddaughter who goes Elementary School for buses,
- 0:50Supposed to go at 9:00 and ended up being at 11 and well, then
- 0:57you turn around and you're it's time for me to come home or
- 1:01Wednesday is our what they call early release days to get out of
- 1:04our early anyway. So late, last night, they put
- 1:09the schools on another two-hour delay and then this morning, I
- 1:12thought well okay, I can sleep in a little bit and so I started
- 1:17to sleep in a little bit and then came and woke me up and
- 1:20said, Can you make me breakfast? At 6:30 in the morning, so I
- 1:25didn't get to sleep in and then 15 minutes later, they canceled
- 1:31school for the day. So all the kids are home again,
- 1:34like the Christmas break that never ends.
- 1:36It just keeps going on. And, of course, the weather here
- 1:38is just crap as those of you watching the video can see.
- 1:43It's very cold, it rained all night.
- 1:46So the roads are a little icy in spots, not everywhere, but
- 1:50especially out in the rural areas, pretty bad and the kids
- 1:54are home. I am so ready for Christmas
- 1:59break to be over. I thought I would have time to
- 2:02sit down here and put together some cogent thoughts but
- 2:05obviously that's not going to happen today.
- 2:09We try to get through the rest of the week.
- 2:12But it's been a weird morning. My text machine hasn't stopped
- 2:17dinging every 5 Seconds. And multiple conversations going
- 2:23on with people, particularly the mill surpriser and Bill and Rod
- 2:27others as well. I finally had to turn off the
- 2:31news. I tell you this, normally, I
- 2:33watch the news in the morning. I watch the local news just
- 2:36because it's, you know, it's brain candy.
- 2:40It's just chatter in the background, but it, but every
- 2:43now and then something comes up and, you know, I want to know
- 2:46about it. This morning I finally just had
- 2:48enough of it. I just had to turn it off and
- 2:51I'm literally watching the webcams that I have a program on
- 2:56my my Kindle Fire. That does webcams from around
- 3:01the world called Earth cam earthkam tv.com, I highly
- 3:05recommend it and it just play some music.
- 3:09It takes me around the world. And right now, I'm in San Diego,
- 3:13Believe It or Not few minutes ago, I was in Jackson Hole
- 3:15Wyoming before that, I was in Gibraltar Spain and watching
- 3:20that. So anyway it's just a little
- 3:23more relaxing because this morning.
- 3:25Let's see, what have we seen? Just in headlines this morning.
- 3:31No, that was yesterday. Sorry covid, cases covid, cases,
- 3:35million covid cases. Yesterday, if you know, this and
- 3:38other everybody's having everybody is having a conniption
- 3:42fit about. The fact we had a million covid
- 3:44cases yesterday and for the first time ever, we've reported
- 3:48a million cases in one day. And of course, everybody's
- 3:50wetting themselves over this. of course, the drawback to this is
- 3:56we go back to, I can't believe it's been What was it?
- 4:00March of 2020, we were talking about this.
- 4:01Hey, the more tests you do, the more cases you're going to have.
- 4:05And if you seen I don't know about where you live but here in
- 4:09Washington state. It's this whole testing thing
- 4:11has become a huge issue. Right now, there are lines that
- 4:17are literally hours. People are waiting six, seven
- 4:20eight hours, to get a covid test.
- 4:24And I'm, I think these people are delusional.
- 4:27I don't see any point in doing that, but I guess there must be
- 4:30some motivational factor to get this covid test and I can't
- 4:35think of anything important enough for me to do.
- 4:37That would necessitate me standing in line for six, seven
- 4:41eight hours, to get it covid. Test it covid test, which is
- 4:45almost guaranteed to be positive because The likelihood is, as I
- 4:53said already, I'm 99% certain that I had covid in late
- 4:58January, late December, early January of 2012 to December
- 5:032019, January 2020. And I did get the first
- 5:11vaccination, so of course it's going to be positive, what a
- 5:16shocker there would be but then they're going to report that as
- 5:19a positive case, I can't imagine anything worth with these lines.
- 5:25We went out the other day, remember, what day?
- 5:27It was a couple of days ago. We went down to get coffee.
- 5:32And as we were driving through Silverdale, Silverdale way,
- 5:35right by the mall, there's a McDonald's.
- 5:38And behind the McDonald's is a Kaiser Permanente.
- 5:44Clinic area, I guess. And they were doing mobile
- 5:46testing and the line was all the way down.
- 5:49Silver do is at least a mile down Silverdale way is
- 5:52ridiculous. It's insane.
- 5:53I don't know why people are doing that.
- 5:56So, that's got people upset. Things that have got me a little
- 6:00on edge this morning. I don't know if you've heard
- 6:03this yet or not, but there's been a major attack on American
- 6:07forces, in Western Iraq this morning, artillery attack and
- 6:12assault. And it's like, how many of you
- 6:16even knew we still had ground troops in Iraq?
- 6:19Well, we do, and they're under attack this morning and it seems
- 6:26Coordinated. Because there's a lot of unrest
- 6:27in the world today. Kazakhstan is going on.
- 6:30You've got the whole thing in Ukraine which is a complete lie,
- 6:34boy. That's you've got, you've got
- 6:36Belarus kind of not allied with but certainly not hindering
- 6:45Russia, and its actions against Ukraine.
- 6:47You've got all these threats from Iran today and yesterday to
- 6:52attack the United States to Ang that General that we killed so
- 6:58forth and so on. And so it's just it seems like
- 7:02all these unconnected dots all over the place but there seems
- 7:05to be some coordination to it which has me a little concerned
- 7:07watching that as well. The middle of all this Chuck
- 7:10Schumer yesterday threatened to Delete and change permanently,
- 7:17change the rules in the United States.
- 7:18Senate to, delete the filibuster.
- 7:21Now, this is a little. This is one of those cases where
- 7:26I think he has the right idea. I personally wouldn't bother me
- 7:28if they deleted the filibuster or the filibuster is one of
- 7:31those things that I'm not sure, I'm not sure it's in the best
- 7:36interest of the people of the United States.
- 7:39However, common or am I certain that the party that's trying to
- 7:42eliminate the filibuster. Is doing so, so that they can
- 7:46get rid of theirs that they can do things in the, in the best
- 7:49interest of the United States. Some years ago, if you recall,
- 7:52Harry Reid killed, the the cloture rule for judicial
- 8:02nominations. Now, the plan here was they were
- 8:05trying to get the DC Circuit Court, judges seated and the
- 8:10Republicans are filibustering this and so they did away with
- 8:12the cloture rule for that and It ended up biting him in the butt
- 8:15because all of a sudden Hillary Clinton didn't win the election
- 8:20and the judicial nominees that no longer needed to the cloture.
- 8:24Rule were Republican nominee. It's kind of bit them in the but
- 8:29I'm not sure that eliminating the filibuster right now for
- 8:32Chuck Schumer would be that great of an idea but they are
- 8:36absolutely determined to get build back better through.
- 8:40And so this is the only way they're going to do it and so
- 8:42he's going to continue to threaten to do this.
- 8:44Now the Problem with that, is that one of the things that is
- 8:47currently being debated in the United States.
- 8:50Senate is a sanction on Russia, not particularly Russia,
- 8:55specifically, but I Russian company that you may or may not
- 8:59have heard of. And over the past few days, I've
- 9:02been doing a lot of reading, a lot of research, a lot of
- 9:05discussion. and, It's eye-opening.
- 9:11And if you if you're not familiar with a company called
- 9:13Nord stream and their project Nord stream 2, You, you probably
- 9:21look at this whole Ukrainian situation and go, I don't
- 9:24understand it. When you see what's going on
- 9:27with Nord stream to all of a sudden you understand.
- 9:30It Nord stream to is a pipeline. It's a natural gas pipeline,
- 9:35that Russia is building to supply natural gas to the rest
- 9:38of Europe. Europe has laws that say you
- 9:42can't have a natural gas supplier.
- 9:46That actually owns The Delivery Systems.
- 9:49So, in other words, You can't have a Russian Pipeline
- 9:53supplying Russian gas. It has to be somebody else's
- 9:57pipeline. Well, this has led to arguments
- 10:01between Germany and the United States because Germany wants the
- 10:04pipeline. Germany wants to Natural Gas.
- 10:06They needed the United States has objected to this and if
- 10:10threatened sanctions and in fact has already sanctioned Nord
- 10:13stream once and this led to friction between Germany and the
- 10:17United States. Well of course Russia wants this
- 10:20because then they Troll. All the energy to Western
- 10:23Europe. I mean, you do what we say are
- 10:26we turn off your gas and you freeze in the freaking winner or
- 10:29you don't have electricity in the summertime whatever.
- 10:33So, of course, it makes sense now, much of that Natural Gas
- 10:37Pipe lining running through Ukraine as well and Russia wants
- 10:40to control all this. That's what they want.
- 10:42That's what their goal is here and the United States,
- 10:45sanctioning that creates economic problems for the
- 10:49Russians, it creates physical Problems for the Russians.
- 10:52And this is what it's really all about.
- 10:55Well, of course, part of this problem with Schumer and the
- 10:58filibuster is that Republicans want to sanction Nord stream to
- 11:03and Democrats want to as well. Some Democrats want to as well.
- 11:07The Biden Administration is kind of wofully kind of squishy on
- 11:12the whole thing. And at this point we're still up
- 11:16in an argument. We could literally yesterday,
- 11:19the Republicans made it. Clear that they are going to
- 11:21sanction Nord stream 2 and if they do so Russia has made it
- 11:25clear that that is a is an act of War.
- 11:29So we sanction Nord stream to, they invade Ukraine Europe,
- 11:36presumably Germany, puts pressure on us because we don't
- 11:39really want to fight in Ukraine. We don't want to fight Russia
- 11:42and Ukraine. And in the middle of all this,
- 11:44this Kazakhstan thing going on to distract attention.
- 11:46That way it's going to be a mess folks.
- 11:49And here I am. Stuck in my house in crappy
- 11:53weather with kids and a cat and I am just having a whale of a
- 11:57day and so so instead of sitting here and thinking through
- 12:01things, logically and thinking through things about where I
- 12:04want to go with all this stuff, I instead I'm having some coffee
- 12:07because that's what I do. In my brand, new Denver, Broncos
- 12:10cup that my wife got me for Christmas.
- 12:14Which I love. She also got me a stocking cap,
- 12:17Bronco stocking cap and a poster that I can't show.
- 12:21It's a wooden post or that can't show you because it's in the
- 12:24other room but it's pretty cool. Says Broncos on it and I'm
- 12:27pretty happy about that. In all of this, I'm waiting for
- 12:30the Broncos to decide what they're going to do about their
- 12:33head coach. And as if all that were not
- 12:36enough for a Wednesday, a crazy-ass Wednesday, Verizon
- 12:40informed me this morning that they're changing their terms of
- 12:42service and I don't need to do anything about it right now.
- 12:44Don't need to worry about it right now.
- 12:45But at some point you might want to read these because well, you
- 12:51know, we we need to we need to make sure that at the end of the
- 12:58day you understand that we have changed our terms of service and
- 13:02in doing so I don't know, maybe it's important, maybe it isn't,
- 13:09I don't know, but at the same time, it's for the stakes were
- 13:13Chase. Could you throw anything more at
- 13:16me today? Just about had enough.
- 13:21Fact, I'm gonna turn it all off right now.
