- 2:55news, Massport has designated the owners of several
- 2:59Boston marinas to take over an aging working
- 3:02jetty in the seaport, according to the Boston
- 3:05Globe. This decision is significant as it will
- 3:08introduce a new use to one of the last empty
- 3:11parcels on the South Boston waterfront. Boston
- 3:15Marine Terminal Limited Liability Company, owned
- 3:18by Chuck and Anne Lagasse, will redevelop the
- 3:2116 -acre North Jetty site at the Raymond L. Flynn
- 3:25Marine Park. The Lagasse family, who own several
- 3:29Boston Harbor marinas, will manage ship repair
- 3:32and freight operations while rebuilding the deteriorating
- 3:351 ,000 -foot space. Massport will contribute
- 3:39$20 million in state money for these repairs,
- 3:43with the potential to add 400 jobs. Now onto
- 3:51sports. Christian McCaffrey gained 142 yards
- 3:57from scrimmage and scored a touchdown in his
- 3:59first game against Carolina since he was traded
- 4:02away three years ago, leading the San Francisco
- 4:0549ers to a 20 -9 victory over the Panthers on
- 4:09Monday night football. McCaffrey's big night
- 4:12helped the 49ers, with an overall record of eight
- 4:16wins and four losses, overcome three interceptions
- 4:20by Brock Purdy in the first half. Bryce Young
- 4:24and the Panthers, with a record of six wins and
- 4:27six losses, struggled to capitalize on opportunities.
- 4:31Young completed 169 passing yards with one touchdown
- 4:36and one interception. The 49ers went conservative
- 4:40in the second half, relying mostly on McCaffrey
- 4:43and short passes. In local sports, After avoiding
- 4:49the injury bug for most of the season, the Pats
- 4:52faced serious losses in their weak 12 -win against
- 4:55the Bengals. Starting lineman Jared Wilson was
- 5:00carted off after the first drive, followed by
- 5:03rookie left tackle Will Campbell later in the
- 5:05game. Fortunately, on Monday morning, updates
- 5:09about their injuries brought some good news.
- 5:12Campbell suffered an MCL sprain that should only
- 5:15sideline him for a few weeks. Well, Wilson is
- 5:18expected to recover from a high ankle sprain
- 5:21in time for the playoff. This news is crucial
- 5:25for the Patriots' playoff hopes. In top news,
- 5:31scientists searching for new ways to combat cancer
- 5:33may have uncovered a promising lead in the DNA
- 5:36of the bowhead whale. The findings published
- 5:40in the journal Nature highlight how long -lived
- 5:43animals like the bowhead manage to avoid cancer
- 5:46despite having more cells. Vera Gorbanova, a
- 5:50biologist at the University of Rochester, suggests
- 5:54these animals have evolved additional protections
- 5:56from cancer. The bowhead whale utilizes a protein
- 6:00that excels at repairing broken DNA, maintaining
- 6:04healthy cells and preventing mutations, rather
- 6:07than eliminating malignant ones. This research
- 6:10could ultimately benefit human health and provide
- 6:13insights into cancer resistance in various species.
- 6:18In business news, the S &P 493 reveals a very
- 6:24different United States economy. While a few
- 6:28trillion dollar companies are powering market
- 6:30gains, most other businesses are struggling.
- 6:33This year has been good for the stock market.
- 6:36But the S &P 500's gains are driven by a small
- 6:39number of artificial intelligence -focused companies.
- 6:43The magnificent seven includes Alphabet, Amazon,
- 6:47Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla. Economists
- 6:53express concerns about other companies not benefiting
- 6:56from this AI investment boom. The S &P 493 shows
- 7:02weaker performance among smaller firms. highlighting
- 7:05economic struggles outside the tech sector. In
- 7:09crypto movement, Bitcoin is up half a percent
- 7:12to about $88 ,000. Ethereum is up half a percent
- 7:18to just over $2 ,900. And XRP is up 8 % to $2
- 7:24.24. Moving on to a more local vibe. In our community

- 8:12now, back to the show. Let's talk science. Scientists
- 8:17observed a man move energy with his mind, leading
- 8:21to classified research. In a Stanford laboratory,
- 8:25an unexplained event triggered years of secret
- 8:28psychic studies during the Cold War. The concept
- 8:31suggests that the mind may manipulate the surrounding
- 8:34world. In 1972, an artist named Ingo Swan allegedly
- 8:39altered a magnetic field in a sealed vacuum chamber
- 8:43simply by thinking. This incident initiated Project
- 8:47Stargate, one of the most surreal programs in
- 8:50United States government history. The government
- 8:54aimed to train psychic spies who could see across
- 8:56time and space through remote viewing techniques.
- 9:03In entertainment news, Scarlett Johansson is
- 9:07set to star in Mike Flanagan's new Exorcist movie.
- 9:11Universal and Blumhouse hope to reboot the religious
- 9:15horror franchise after scrapping a trilogy planned
- 9:18around 2023's The Exorcist Believer. Flanagan
- 9:23stated, Scarlett is a brilliant actress whose
- 9:26captivating performances always feel grounded
- 9:29and real. The film, which will be the franchise's
- 9:32seventh from as many directors, is set to shoot
- 9:35in New York City. Flanagan's film will tell an
- 9:39all -new story set in the Exorcist universe.
- 9:43Despite a global gross of roughly $137 million,
- 9:47Believer faced financial underperformance and
- 9:50critical reviews. Flanagan describes his Exorcist
- 9:55movie as the scariest movie I've ever made. Well,
- 10:00alrighty folks, it's time for the quote of the
- 10:03day. And today our quote comes from the American
- 10:07author and historian David McCullough. And he
- 10:11said, history is who we are and why we are the
- 10:15way we are. And that's a wrap for this morning.
