- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happen to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning.
- 0:29If you hear some water running off in the distance, it's
- 0:31because that represents the project over the weekend, which
- 0:35was installing a fountain on the porch.
- 0:40And it's actually a little turtle pond that has a fountain
- 0:44in it. And it's because one of our
- 0:46little pets is coming outside. It's an albino snapping turtle,
- 0:50and he's going to live on the porch in a pond that we made for
- 0:54him. But it's dark and it's early and
- 0:56I'm sitting out on the porch and I want to talk to you about
- 1:00drought. So physically, we are in the
- 1:04middle of an exceptional drought here.
- 1:08I've never seen it this dry here.
- 1:11It's unprecedented. I From what I hear, it's very
- 1:14rare and normally we're dealing with too much rain this time of
- 1:18year and this time we're dealing with not enough.
- 1:21And that just made me think about how things flow in our
- 1:26lives too. We will want something and want
- 1:29something and want something and want something and want
- 1:31something and keep obsessing on the fact that we don't have it.
- 1:34And I am obsessing on the fact that we don't have the rain I
- 1:38want because everything has to be watered.
- 1:40And when they're brand new and you're putting them out, which
- 1:43has been going on for the last month, month and a half, where
- 1:47I'm bringing things out and planting them, we're still
- 1:50considered in spring. So they're little.
- 1:53And I can't just turn on big sprinklers or water systems to
- 1:57irrigate them without running risk of ruining things.
- 2:01So it forced my hand in changing a plan and it made me think
- 2:07differently. I look at the soil and when I
- 2:09water the top of the soil, it's it's dust.
- 2:12It just moves around like soft baby powder is what my son
- 2:16described it like yesterday when he was helping me.
- 2:18He's like look if the the water hits it and you don't use the
- 2:21sprinkler like the the soft shower spray first on the nozzle
- 2:26head it. If you hit it with just the
- 2:28flow. It just moves it like soft baby
- 2:31powder. And I thought, wow, he's
- 2:33absolutely accurate. That's exactly what it looks
- 2:35like. And this is what happens in our
- 2:38minds as well. Like we have to do things gently
- 2:43when we're in these quote UN quote droughts.
- 2:46So some of us might be in a drought for financial stuff.
- 2:50Some of us might be in a drought for emotional stuff.
- 2:52Maybe it's looking for love, trying to find a partner.
- 2:56Or even if you're with a partner and you feel like that you guys
- 3:00just aren't clicking and you feel like you're in a drought.
- 3:04And all of a sudden that drought starts to dictate so much in
- 3:08your life. I mean, it really starts to
- 3:10dictate a lot in our lives. So the question is, what do you
- 3:14do when you're in a drought and you feel a certain way?
- 3:17How do you handle that drought? And most of us would want a
- 3:20flood because we feel like, OK, I've got to go in there and just
- 3:24have it all. But the reality is it would, it
- 3:28would move us just like that big stream of water would move the
- 3:31baby powder. It just pushes it to the side
- 3:33and it never actually satiates it.
- 3:36And that's we, we start to act that way ourselves, like we
- 3:39can't get anything from it. It's actually quite disturbing
- 3:43when you think about it the right way.
- 3:45So the truth of the matter is that we need to focus our
- 3:50attention and intention on being able to take the sprinkles, turn
- 3:55things on, just sprinkle stuff on.
- 3:58So if you, if you're in a drought of any kind, think about
- 4:02what is, what are the small things that would matter.
- 4:04Now I know this sounds crazy, but I've had clients in the past
- 4:08do this, especially if it's a financial drought and you're
- 4:10trying to attract more money. When you find a penny on the
- 4:13ground or change on the ground, celebrate it.
- 4:16It doesn't matter if it's a penny, it's cash flowing to you.
- 4:19Celebrate it. Just be like, oh moneys flowing
- 4:21to me. And I I honestly believe that
- 4:25abundance flows like that. So you have to celebrate every
- 4:28little tiny win. And it also works when you're
- 4:31looking and saying, what am I spending on that I don't really
- 4:35need? And those subscriptions that's
- 4:37like the sprinkle you go in and you look at what are those $10
- 4:41ticks, those $12.00 ticks that we all get hit with.
- 4:45We all say, I want to watch that movie.
- 4:47Let me sign up for Disney Plus or let me sign up for a
- 4:50Paramount Plus or all this stuff.
- 4:52And all of a sudden you forget it.
- 4:54And that's why I don't like subscriptions personally,
- 4:58because you forget about them. And before you know it, what's
- 5:01happening, Oh my goodness, you're, you're tapped out.
- 5:05So you clean up your subscriptions.
- 5:08If you're looking for love and you're trying to find more
- 5:11friendship or more love, go and do something really small.
- 5:15Celebrate something really small.
- 5:16If someone smiles at you, celebrate that.
- 5:18Say, oh, that look, that's that coming my way because it changes
- 5:22the flow of your enemies and it turns the drought around.
- 5:25Because just like the weatherman said this morning, very early,
- 5:284:00 AM forecast, he said, you know, when you're in a drought,
- 5:32it kind of puts you in this place where we keep having the
- 5:35drought, we keep having the drought, the conditions that
- 5:37cause the drought keep sticking around more and more and they
- 5:40cause more of those conditions. Boy is that isn't the best
- 5:43metaphor. I don't know what is.
- 5:45So change the small conditions and we'll start to see things
- 5:48change. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:50you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:53Bye.
