- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be rotating back and forth.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: But Jag wars.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's right here.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: The regular season is right here.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen told me today that he has confidence in his team.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: And another person who had a lot of confidence in the Jacksonville Jag wars appears to be Bill Barnwell of ESPN.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to take a look at what Bill Barnwell has to say about your Jacksonville Jag wars right here and right now.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate you being here.

- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: We are also going to be having a couple of nine oh four day drops tomorrow.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: Thursday, September, fourths to be on the lookout for that.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Bill Barnwell, VSPN.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: What is his official title at ESPN?
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see here.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: doesn't say.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's okay though.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: He's I would say one of their lead analysts for pro football, right?
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: He has the Jacksonville Jaguars winning the AFC South.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: He has the Houston Texans not making the playoffs.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: and we're gonna read what Bill has to say here, analyze it, talk about it, have a good time.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here, y'all.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: So picking the Jaguars to win the FC South.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: He says, I'm running my twenty twenty four prediction back in the FC South with the Jags taking over first place from Houston.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: They were off by only six games last season.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: I expect that to be tongue and cheek common.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: So it's hard to figure that much could go.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: So it's hard to figure that could go
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: much worse in twenty twenty five.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: In the likely to improve column, I wrote about how the twenty twenty four jackores were one of the more unlucky teams in the league.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: They went three and ten and one score games becoming the first team in NFL history to lose ten games by seven points or less in a single season.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: They also were the second team in NFL history to reduce only one multiple turnover game all season and the first to do that with the benefit of a seventeen game campaign.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: They will win more one score games and create more takeaways in twenty twenty five, especially with Travis Hunter joining the secondary.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like the Jaguars are running into the our new coach is obviously a major upgrade on our old coach, cycle, more than any other team.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: But after Trevor Lawrence endured a static and frustrating offense when healthy in twenty twenty four, the hope has to be that he gets back to his old form
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: with Liam Cohen at the helm and a more modern offensive attack.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: We're not that far removed from the midway point of twenty twenty three when the Jaguar is wearing position to claim the top seed in the AFC in November before a Lawrence injury set them into a tail spin.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: Then again, we were even closer to that moment twelve months ago and the Jaguar certainly did not look like a one seed at any point in twenty twenty four still.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: Bill Barnwell has the Jacksonville Jaguars winning the AFC South.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: And he's not alone.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: I've heard a number of analysts that I respect, including Bill, some folks over at Yahoo, Matt Harmon, not necessarily all of these people picking the Jaguars to win the AFC South, but there's a lot of sentiment that the Jaguars could potentially make the playoffs.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's a strong chance they make the playoffs.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I predicted them to make the playoffs at nine and eight.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: And you haven't seen a lot of nine and eight teams making it lately outside of division winners in the AFC South, but I think that you look at the problems with the Texans.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's mostly just looking at their offensive line situation.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: And that's fair to criticize.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: There's no question about it.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think Barnwell hits on a lot of, a lot of good points.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: And this is such a hotly debated argument year to year.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: Teams that were close to winning it, and you can make the argument.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: Every team is close to winning every game almost every single week.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yes, it's the NFL.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's the League of Parity.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Most games are close.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: But Bill Barnwell highlights an excellent point.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars were the first team in NFL history to lose ten games by seven points or less in a single season.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: And they were that close in that many games with horrible coaching, with myriad injuries.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: Lots of poor execution.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: A team that was disjointed from the top down.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: Now you have a team that has a unified vision at the top.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: Tony Picelli, Liam Cohen, James Gladstone, all coming in at the same time.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: This entire coaching staff outside of Heath Farwell, all coming in at the exact same time.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Heath Farwell being a holdover is an issue in any way shape or form.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: That was a wonderful decision by this organization to keep Heath Farwell as the special teams coordinator.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: You have talent at some of the most important positions in the sport.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: You have, in my opinion, an elite edge duo, a elite duo of talents at receiver.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: You might want to hold off on calling them elite until we see Travis Hunter doing it in a game, but I believe he's going to be elite.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: But Travis Hunter, Brian Thomas Jr., you have a quarterback with the best situation of his career who has made due with really bad situations throughout his career and is still doing a good job outside of being injured.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: You have upside on defense in a lot of ways.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Interior that defense of line, there is upside for it to be very good.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Armstrong, Mason Smith, Tyson Campbell, can he stay healthy, even if he can't.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: You have better options on defense now at corner, Travis Hunter, Jarion Jones, Jordan Lewis, Buster Brown when he gets healthy.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: You have a defense that appears to have the pieces in place to force more turnovers than they did in, twenty, twenty-four.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: They were the second team in NFL history to produce only one multiple turnover game all season.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: And the only team to do that in a seventeen game schedule.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: Regression, even if everything stayed exactly the same as it was last year, regression would likely be coming in a positive way for the Jack Wars.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: But they did not bank on regression.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: They got rid of everybody.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: They got rid of their GM.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: They got rid of their staff, you know, front office staff.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: They got rid of the coaching staff.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: They brought in new innovative, young, hungry minds to run this thing.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: And Tony Bicelli, who there's not not really anyone on this planet more passionate about the Jaguars being a good organization than Tony Bicelli.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think the Jaguars do have a good chance to win the AFC South.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not picking them to win the AFC South yet because I simply do have a lot of faith in the Texans ability to figure things out a little bit better on the offensive line than they did last year.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: Even if I don't think the talent is better than it was last year, I think it's worse.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: I also believe with better protection rules, better offensive line coaching, they will get more out of that group.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: I believe in CJ Straud's ability to take over more at the line of scrimmage, which they're implementing that this year.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I believe in their receiving core, and I think that they're going to have the best defensive football.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be close between those two teams.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Jack Wars and Texans to me are at the top of this division.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: I have the Texans winning it because I think they will have the most dominant unit defense or offense.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to have a dominant defense in the division.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I've got the Texans winning the division still, but I would not be surprised at all if the Jaguar is winning.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: I won't be surprised if it ends up being the culture of the Titans.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: The Colts, I just can't see winning this division with the competitiveness and this division out, you know, not having a quarterback, you know, Daniel Jones.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, maybe Shane Stecken can work some magic again and get another bottom feeder starting, you know, back up level quarterback to actually look like a competent starter, wouldn't put a past Shane Stecken, but it's a dangerous way to live here every year.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: So Bill Barnwell, a lot of folks around the league have a lot of excitement about the Jacksonville Jack Wars this year, and we're going to start finding out this Sunday
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: September seventh, one PM against the Carolina Panthers in Jacksonville, exactly where the Jack Wars are at right now.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: Now, you should know, week one can be flookie, but there will be no excuses if the Jack Wars can not handle business against the Panthers.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: No excuses.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
