- 20:22Speaker 8: Thank You Sammy. This song jump the Luck is one
- 20:26Speaker 8: of those songs that stands out right away because it
- 20:29Speaker 8: brings people back to that breezy, feel good energy that
- 20:34Speaker 8: people love in Tumhiho Bandu, but this time it leans
- 20:38Speaker 8: more romantic. The production feels polished and cinematic in a
- 20:43Speaker 8: way that flows so effortlessly, and it creates the perfect
- 20:47Speaker 8: space for dancing and also allowing the emotions of this
- 20:51Speaker 8: song to breathe. And then of course you have utgd sing,
- 20:55Speaker 8: who gives this song that depth that only he can bring.
- 21:00Speaker 8: His voice has that soft and sincere vibe that makes
- 21:04Speaker 8: the song feel very personal, and that hits even harder
- 21:08Speaker 8: now knowing that it may become more rare to hear
- 21:11Speaker 8: him in movie soundtracks. Going forward, so that alone makes
- 21:15Speaker 8: this song feel a little more special. It has that
- 21:18Speaker 8: mix of nostalgia and freshness at the same time where
- 21:22Speaker 8: it feels familiar enough to pull you in but still
- 21:25Speaker 8: emotionally keep you curious. It is a kind of song
- 21:29Speaker 8: that feels easy to listen to that still leaves something behind.
- 21:34Speaker 8: And ladies and gentlemen, this is Jump the left from
- 21:37Speaker 8: Cocktail to.

- 23:04Speaker 4: That song is like it reeks the Bollywood. It's got

- 23:10Speaker 4: going on in it.

- 30:22Speaker 4: Utah at the age of thirteen, and as I mentioned
- 30:24Speaker 4: to you, you'd been working in the industry for a
- 30:27Speaker 4: long time and you know you you're in this different
- 30:31Speaker 4: environment of course at such a young age, but it
- 30:34Speaker 4: seems like you found like a great direction and a
- 30:36Speaker 4: calling in life. And at what point in your teenage
- 30:41Speaker 4: life in Salt Lake City did you imagine yourself having
- 30:46Speaker 4: a film here at a film festival that is introducing
- 30:49Speaker 4: your brand of comedy and film to the world.
- 30:54Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 30:54Speaker 18: Well, I think the good thing is as an artist,
- 30:57Speaker 18: I never really taught too much ahead.
- 31:01Speaker 20: You know.
- 31:01Speaker 18: The first thing I ever made actually that was like
- 31:03Speaker 18: me directing, I guess, was a documentary, you know, very classically,
- 31:09Speaker 18: very like the South Asian thing was the partition that
- 31:14Speaker 18: happened in nineteen thirty seven. So and it was mostly
- 31:18Speaker 18: just to inform like my like white you know, classmates
- 31:24Speaker 18: about what that history was, because I remember coming to
- 31:27Speaker 18: America and nobody, like my teacher didn't even know where
- 31:31Speaker 18: Pakistan was on a map. And so I kind of
- 31:33Speaker 18: toast that very personally, and I was like, you know what,
- 31:35Speaker 18: if they don't know, I'm going to make something that's
- 31:38Speaker 18: gonna inform them. And so yeah, as silly as that is,
- 31:43Speaker 18: like as a teenager, I kind of just wanted to
- 31:47Speaker 18: bring people in and share the story of my country
- 31:51Speaker 18: and my background.
- 31:52Speaker 13: And like I have always loved film and feel like
- 31:54Speaker 13: it reaches people so easily that it just seems natural
- 31:59Speaker 13: to do that way, and an opportunity presented itself to
- 32:02Speaker 13: do that, and so from then on, I guess I
- 32:05Speaker 13: started to see it as like, oh.
- 32:07Speaker 18: I think I might want to continue it, but I
- 32:09Speaker 18: kind of left it on a back burner until I
- 32:11Speaker 18: really went to college and had to make decisions of
- 32:14Speaker 18: like what am I going to do for the rest.
- 32:15Speaker 30: Of my life?
- 32:18Speaker 18: But yeah, that college was when I firmly had a
- 32:20Speaker 18: grasp on Okay, I love writing scripts, and what I
- 32:24Speaker 18: know is if you want to be in control of
- 32:26Speaker 18: the scripture write, you going to go into directing. And
- 32:29Speaker 18: then once I started directing, I was like, oh, of course,
- 32:32Speaker 18: this makes so much sense because I'm such a visual
- 32:35Speaker 18: person and I love acting and like directing actors and productions.
- 32:42Speaker 18: Everything need to make sense.
- 32:43Speaker 35: You know.
- 32:44Speaker 18: I have like a leader mentality, so you know, once
- 32:48Speaker 18: I got on the set and was like leading a team,
- 32:50Speaker 18: it just made sense. But you know, envisioning and planning,
- 32:54Speaker 18: I didn't. I didn't really You.
- 32:56Speaker 7: All of that.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Tell us about the the short.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Give us a general kind of synopsis of what the
- 33:05Speaker 4: short is about without giving away any of the you know,
- 33:08Speaker 4: the fun stuff in there.
- 33:10Speaker 20: Absolutely.
- 33:11Speaker 18: I'm strically against spoilers, so absolutely.
- 33:15Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 18: So yeah, the short is essentially about young South Asian female.
- 33:23Speaker 18: She has just entered college and she is going to
- 33:25Speaker 18: her first college party and she's very excited and she's
- 33:30Speaker 18: gonna find out really soon that she is going to
- 33:32Speaker 18: be one of the pretty much the only people of
- 33:35Speaker 18: color and this party, and you know that is scary
- 33:38Speaker 18: and vulnerable and isolating in and of itself, but then
- 33:41Speaker 18: some supernatural elements are going to unfold, and yeah, we're
- 33:45Speaker 18: going to see what's kind of behind that, and we're
- 33:50Speaker 18: also going to continue to see her interact with her classmates.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is really exciting.
- 33:57Speaker 7: All right.
- 33:57Speaker 4: So we have it now on the docket for the
- 34:00Speaker 4: Indian Film Festival of La tell Us when it's airing
- 34:03Speaker 4: and how do we come support you?
- 34:04Speaker 18: Here? Another great question. So it is airing on April
- 34:10Speaker 18: twenty fourth, that's a Friday at nine point fifteen at
- 34:13Speaker 18: Landmarks Theaters sunset, and that is going to be the
- 34:17Speaker 18: short program number one if you're looking.
- 34:19Speaker 6: At the festival schedule.
- 34:20Speaker 18: And yeah, I would love for people to come out
- 34:23Speaker 18: and watch it and you know, come say hi to
- 34:26Speaker 18: me afterwards. I would love to connect with more people
- 34:30Speaker 18: in the arts that people are interested in supporting and
- 34:36Speaker 18: in Fintley. I would say that I am excited to
- 34:41Speaker 18: meet other artists as well. So I've had some people
- 34:44Speaker 18: who are premiering as well reach out to me over Instagram.
- 34:48Speaker 7: Would love that.
- 34:51Speaker 35: Yeah, just you know, come support and.
- 34:52Speaker 18: If you're interested in learning more, reach out to as
- 34:55Speaker 18: well about any of the directors, any of the stories
- 34:57Speaker 18: that you've engaged with.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that's really exciting stuff. Listen.
- 35:02Speaker 4: One of my favorite things about the festival is how
- 35:05Speaker 4: they support their filmmakers and how they kind of create
- 35:08Speaker 4: this galvanizing environment around the festival itself. And how has
- 35:13Speaker 4: it been for you as a filmmaker and what seems
- 35:16Speaker 4: to be a very kind of lonely place at times.
- 35:20Speaker 4: Here you are in a community of folks that are
- 35:22Speaker 4: all growing in the same direction as you.
- 35:25Speaker 18: Yeah, I love that, growing in the same direction of view.
- 35:28Speaker 18: So I mean, not only am I so proud to
- 35:31Speaker 18: be part of this well, because you know, being South Asian,
- 35:34Speaker 18: being able to get support as seuth Asian is so
- 35:37Speaker 18: special and important and I think, you know, really emblematic
- 35:40Speaker 18: of the times that we're in that like communities feel
- 35:43Speaker 18: very strongly about building support systems that internally support us.
- 35:47Speaker 18: But also I think it's so exciting the specific opportunities
- 35:54Speaker 18: that are granted to us through the festival. I think,
- 35:56Speaker 18: you know, we have an industry day where we really
- 35:58Speaker 18: get to meet up industry professionals who are focused and
- 36:02Speaker 18: dedicated on helping rising talent. And I'm so excited about that,
- 36:06Speaker 18: right because I come in with a proof of concept,
- 36:09Speaker 18: I want funding for the future, So something like that
- 36:11Speaker 18: is so crucial, and I think some test will really
- 36:15Speaker 18: miss out on that, and I completely understand. But that's
- 36:18Speaker 18: what will make this festival so important and special is
- 36:21Speaker 18: it's really dedicated to helping us with the next steps
- 36:24Speaker 18: of whatever our career is. And so it's not amazing
- 36:28Speaker 18: not just an amazing opportunity to premiere your things, but
- 36:30Speaker 18: also to maybe see what your next steps are going
- 36:33Speaker 18: to be in from.
- 36:34Speaker 4: Careers, right and hear the latest from within people that,
- 36:37Speaker 4: as we talked about, are growing in the same direction
- 36:40Speaker 4: as you.
- 36:40Speaker 1: So that's very exciting. Fatima, thank you so much for
- 36:44Speaker 1: hanging out with us here today. It's been an.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Absolute pleasure learning about your work and sharing the success
- 36:50Speaker 4: of this film here as it's making its way to
- 36:52Speaker 4: the Indian Film Festival.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Vala, thank you so much for joining us today. Fatima,
- 36:58Speaker 1: thank you so.
- 36:58Speaker 18: Much for this opportunity and all your kind of works.
- 37:01Speaker 18: They're so encouraging. Really, I feel like, like you said,
- 37:04Speaker 18: it can be kind of a lonely experience making things,
- 37:06Speaker 18: and just having this opportunity to talk to you and
- 37:09Speaker 18: having this platform I really really appreciate. So I can't
- 37:13Speaker 18: thank you enough.
- 37:14Speaker 4: We we're big supporters of your work and we'll all
- 37:17Speaker 4: be there on Friday to support the film.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Congratulations. We'll chat with you soon.
- 37:22Speaker 36: Yeah, all right, vid Katti dunde, everybody g everybody give

- 39:49Speaker 36: la Belle.
- 39:50Speaker 6: Faver numbers are the caring with the Katy. Don't jail everybody, everybody.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Delgito sons right there.
- 40:12Speaker 4: One of his latest songs, Ranja, his collaboration with Cia
- 40:16Speaker 4: and David Getta. Folks, everybody's talking about what went down
- 40:21Speaker 4: up there at the Nugget keating up in Vancouver, and
- 40:24Speaker 4: who better than to bring in e for the conversation.
- 40:27Speaker 1: What's up, brother, how you doing? I'm doing blass.
- 40:31Speaker 8: You know.
- 40:33Speaker 7: Happened in the hometown. I have a lot of opinion
- 40:35Speaker 7: from what happened. Yep, no, let's get into it.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Yeah, well, give us the synopsis of first for everybody
- 40:41Speaker 4: that does not know what happened, give us the quick
- 40:43Speaker 4: thirty thousand foot up view of everything that happened on.
- 40:46Speaker 7: So Neon is an international streamer at this point, I
- 40:52Speaker 7: guess yeah, she's probably like maybe one of the top
- 40:56Speaker 7: fifteen twenty streamers. I'm not really in the streaming world,
- 40:58Speaker 7: but he's famous. He's got a decent, big following. And
- 41:02Speaker 7: there's a character out here who makes content named Parmers
- 41:05Speaker 7: the World and Parmers the World UH invited Neon to
- 41:11Speaker 7: the Nudge Hitting UH the sixth Parade for basically content
- 41:18Speaker 7: getting right. They wanted to make content out of it,
- 41:21Speaker 7: and parm had done this last year if people check
- 41:24Speaker 7: out his YouTube, But then he did it again. He
- 41:26Speaker 7: was going again this year with Neon and he actually
- 41:29Speaker 7: told me about it and I and to me, like honest,
- 41:33Speaker 7: I was just like, yeah, that's cool, cool whatever, you know.
- 41:35Speaker 7: I was doing my own thing because I wasn't even
- 41:38Speaker 7: planning on going anyways. But basically the day goes, it starts,
- 41:43Speaker 7: Neon's there, Parm is there there streaming, and it just
- 41:46Speaker 7: became a massive fiasco. Basically, you know, the they're mobbing,
- 41:53Speaker 7: there's a lot of like disrespectful actions. They're you know,
- 41:57Speaker 7: just using this as like a clout, yeah, a moment
- 42:02Speaker 7: to get clout instead of showing it the reference reverence
- 42:04Speaker 7: and respect.
- 42:05Speaker 20: Right.
- 42:05Speaker 7: You know, Neon's doing his little like you know, streamer
- 42:08Speaker 7: spiel where he makes those weird faces and over exaggerates
- 42:12Speaker 7: and make scenes out of things that it's not. And
- 42:15Speaker 7: then also it was just embarrassing because Palm knows better,
- 42:18Speaker 7: you know, I know, I've known Parm since you're the kid.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna stay there for full disclosure. Here
- 42:23Speaker 1: E and Parm, all these guys they know each other.
- 42:26Speaker 7: So yeah, yeah, yeah we go back, We go real back, right,
- 42:29Speaker 7: Like I know Parm, I know his family, like really well,
- 42:33Speaker 7: I saw his parents like a couple of weeks ago.
- 42:35Speaker 7: Like but and so Palm knows better. But Palm turned
- 42:40Speaker 7: this into a fask himself with the comments he's making.
- 42:43Speaker 7: He kept calling it an Indian festival and like even
- 42:47Speaker 7: you just you know, pressed the nugger kits and like
- 42:49Speaker 7: people know right, like people like you you would know right,
- 42:55Speaker 7: But to call it an Indian festival, to play it down,
- 42:57Speaker 7: to not give it a significant not to explain, and
- 43:00Speaker 7: just the type of clips that they were getting you
- 43:02Speaker 7: could tell they're just making a mockery out of it.
- 43:04Speaker 7: And the fallout has been really intense. Like the community
- 43:07Speaker 7: here is just like a gas at everything. They're literally
- 43:10Speaker 7: like telling them to like become apologize that the girl daughter,
- 43:13Speaker 7: which is hilarious. I mean, I don't know if I
- 43:16Speaker 7: really agree with that part, but it's it's it's it
- 43:19Speaker 7: struck a nerve and a lot of people, I think,
- 43:22Speaker 7: like from Twitter I've talked about on the last episode
- 43:25Speaker 7: that I just dropped yesterday. You know, Twitter people are
- 43:30Speaker 7: talking about I think pieces all these influencers on Instagram
- 43:33Speaker 7: are talking about it, like he's become the talk of
- 43:35Speaker 7: this like the sick world, the Punjabi world, which he
- 43:39Speaker 7: kind of wanted. But it's kind of like the Monkey Spa.
- 43:43Speaker 7: You know, everyone will talk about you from this event,
- 43:47Speaker 7: but not in the way you want, you know what
- 43:50Speaker 7: I'm saying.
- 43:50Speaker 4: To totally, so you intended consequence of all this, right,
- 43:55Speaker 4: It's it's one of those things I think.
- 43:56Speaker 7: And and and I think this is just a bigger
- 43:59Speaker 7: issue of like kids really wanting same and kids wanting attention.
- 44:04Speaker 7: You know, there used to be when I remember, it
- 44:06Speaker 7: used to be like you create for the world and
- 44:09Speaker 7: in return, you get you know, if you're a comedian,
- 44:11Speaker 7: last if you're a musician, listens and fans. But now
- 44:15Speaker 7: it's these streamers. They want attention, but they don't have
- 44:20Speaker 7: anything that they're creating to give to the people. Really, Like,
- 44:23Speaker 7: let's be real honest, right, Like, yeah, you know these
- 44:26Speaker 7: streamers that I've seen some of their clips, like they
- 44:28Speaker 7: just they just make like animal they're.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Just like cats pretty much, you know whatever it might be.
- 44:33Speaker 7: Yeah, like they just they just the work. But everywhere
- 44:36Speaker 7: we loose, but they just make an embarrassment of themselves.
- 44:39Speaker 7: The word you know, it's nothing really that they're providing
- 44:43Speaker 7: that you're like, this is really good stuff. It's just
- 44:46Speaker 7: it's cheap, very cheap entertainment. And he wanted to cash
- 44:50Speaker 7: in on that.
- 44:51Speaker 18: And I mean.
- 44:54Speaker 4: You reap what you saw, right, Yeah, Well, we'll keep
- 44:58Speaker 4: our eyes on this situation. It's gonna be one that
- 45:01Speaker 4: and thanks for joining us. By the way, it's gonna
- 45:03Speaker 4: be one that we kind of, you know, I think
- 45:06Speaker 4: learn from. There's a lot of kids, I think in
- 45:08Speaker 4: this generation coming up that are going to look back
- 45:10Speaker 4: at this and say, you know what, let's not do
- 45:11Speaker 4: this that did this did not go well last time.
- 45:13Speaker 4: And and I think people are gonna be a little
- 45:15Speaker 4: bit more vigilant about it too, not to even allow
- 45:17Speaker 4: that to even establish and become a thing. So hopefully
- 45:20Speaker 4: this is a learning moment for everybody out there.
- 45:23Speaker 7: So definitely, I definitely hope.
- 45:25Speaker 1: So we'll see you next week, brother.
- 45:29Speaker 11: One.
- 45:29Speaker 4: All right, thanks he that's the great e the first
