- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, we are talking Jaguars 53 man roster.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: We've done this exercise at least once earlier in the spring.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: I just think now that training camp is basically on the precipice, less than a week away.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was a good time to refresh the thoughts on the 53-man roster.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: And do a prediction on where this will all land.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited to get into it, really appreciate y'all being here.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, all jags, all the time, please like and subscribe, you can also hit that high button.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: You can also check out jingjag.com, pick up some new Duval gear, help us out a ton.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of fun stuff still up on the site.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: Got a lot of fun stuff planned for this season as well.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I really appreciate y'all supporting us here.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: Could not be doing this without y'all.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: So we will go ahead and say Logan Cook, Cam Little, Ross Madison.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: Those are your three special teams players, exclusive special teams players, right?
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: So that takes you from 53 to 50.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: So offense and defense there needs to be 50.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: We will start on the defensive side of the ball at defensive line.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: We always start with offense.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: Let's start with defense.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's defense led by Anthony Campanilae should be a really, really good unit this year overall.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Heinz Allen, on the defensive line.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Heinz Allen, Trayvon Walker, Devon Hamilton, Eric Armstrong, Stead, those are your base down starters.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have backups for the edge spot.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Wesley Williams, Jaguar's drafted and the fourth round this year traded up to acquire.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think he is a big physical body that had some production, both from a past rushing and run defense standpoint and showed the ability to execute on games up front to align from multiple spots, including condensing down inside and rushing from the interior, doing a good job of that.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: And also being a really good special teams player, blocked a bunch of field goals, affected a lot of other field goals throughout his time in college,
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: You have obviously Danny Sturro, who I think just based on what we saw for him last year and how he's looked so far this year, he's going to be not just on the roster but competing for Edge 3 with Wesley Williams and then you've got B.J.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: Green, so that final, I think they're going to keep for five true Edge players.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: in Josh Hines Allen, Trevor Wilker.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: Contraven condensed down inside yes.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: But Josh Hines Allen, Trevor Wilker, Danny Strigo, Wesley Williams, and then BJ Green or Zactor Fee.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is drafted Zactor Fee and the seventh round this year.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: BJ at Green was an undrafted free agent.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, who wins that job?
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: Derfee, I think, has a lot of upside as an athlete,
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think BJ Green just wins the job for this year, for making an impact on the team this year.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think he has a better shot at that.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: So I think BJ Green there wins that one.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: That could really go either way.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's one of those coin flip type ones.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: for me.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: But I have more confidence in green because I've actually seen him play in the NFL and I've seen him do a pretty good job.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Then you get to the interior backup.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got Albert Regis who was the Jaguar's first defensive player drafted this year.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be a backup two to one.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: Hamilton and potentially a, uh,
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: versatile backup, they can align multiple spots on the defensive front, but you're projecting early on as the backup to Devon Hamilton, Rook Aurora, as the backup to Eric Armstead, and then you've got Matt Dickerson as well, who I think is just kind of your lunch pale, come to work, do your job,
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: do anything that the defense of coordinator that your defense of coaches ask you to do beyond that.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: There's not a lot of names that really stand out as somebody who probably is competing.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean Matt Dickerson was a player who not a lot of people really gave a lot of credence to last year who ended up having staying power so could somebody come in and
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the Jaguar is resigned in this all season.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: They've sung his praises every opportunity they've had, so I've got him still in the roster.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's 10 defensive linemen.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: At linebacker, I've got six players, two deep at each position.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: For a look in Jack Kaiser, Ventral Miller, Branson Combs, Dennis Gardeck, Jaila McCloud.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: McCloud is another one where he's coming off of a injury-plagged rookie season, and really to me, there's a competition there between him and you see your Abdullah,
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't know which way to lean.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: You've also got the fact that the Jack Wars did spend a 7th round pick on Parker Hughes.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he is definitely a practice squad candidate.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they could probably, you know, he was a 7th round pick for a reason.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Same thing with Zach Dürfie.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think those two guys may be
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: could stash away on the practice squad and develop them and get them going and try to have them as, you know, roster, rosterable guys in 2027.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: Again, those are coin flip type of decisions for me.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: When you come to safety, this is one where I would be surprised if there's any real
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Murray and Johnson year in trench starters, Ransal drafted to be a starter, missed his rookie year.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's come back and had a really good spring.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to carry that over into training camp.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: Jaylin Husky, third round pick this year, Raylin Lane, was he a six round pick in 2025?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see here.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, six round picking, 20, 25, and a special team's stud.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's difficult to see any changes here.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: You do have camera on someone Craig still in the building who I thought had some nice moments last year as a rookie safety out of Colorado.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Devin Neal has made some plays, but yeah, I think that those are your five safety's.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: and then I have six corners.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, Buster Brown, Jarian Jones, Jordan Lewis, those are your easy top four.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Braswell, Jabar Muhammad, I think both of those guys can have some inside-out side versatility.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: Jabar Muhammad has been a star, this spring.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: I expect his good play to carry over into training camp and make the roster there, which means Devon Marshall, a player who I think could very well make the team.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: is on the outside looking in.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: Braswell has the experience on Marshall.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: He has the athleticism on Marshall.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think Marshall is a really good zone corner though.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they can hold on to him on the practice squad.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Preston Hodge has made plays as well from the corner back spot so far in the in the off-season program so that those definitely back into the corner back room is one to watch.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I have Travis Hunter listed at corner got to put him at corner or wide receiver from a 53 man roster standpoint he doesn't count as two players which when you come to the 53 man roster that does give you the advantage but then you also have the issue of if there's an injury to Travis Hunter you're replacing two spots
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: that's just, it is what it is, but that is 27 defensive players.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: Again, six corners, five safety, that's 11, six linebackers at 17, 10 defensive linemen, that is 27, now if you flip Travis Hunter and you said it was five cornerbacks, then you would be at 26 defensive players and 24 offensive players, but as it stands now, that's 27 defensive players and only 23 offensive players.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think when you look at offense, quarterback and running back are two positions where you just generally don't carry as many players at those two spots as you do from a traditional defensive position.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of as what it is.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: But I have two quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, Nick Mullins.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody wants to get rid of Nick Mullins.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a good guy to have in the room.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think he is.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: I somewhat capable backup, but really I think if there was a long-term injury to the starter, the Jaguars would be looking elsewhere to try to find somebody to come in.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe somebody who knows the system, maybe somebody who's just a veteran, that they can work with to really kind of study the ship.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: So that's my thought on, on, on.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: the jacks backup quarterback situation.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not in panic mode the same way a lot of people are around town.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: I just think like if they need to pivot they will.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not like an expensive pivot generally speaking to find a backup quarterback overall.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: If you need to just study the ship and let's be honest like you're probably not winning a whole lot in the playoffs for the backup quarterback.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: probably not.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: Running back, I've got three.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they are really, really, really complimentary.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: I would like to keep four, but I just think with all these other position groups and the fact that you have such good complimentary skill sets between Chris Rod Riga's who is well-versed in this offense, really good in between the tackles, good as a zone runner, physical, tough, breaks tackles,
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Does the job against stackboxes?
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: Basel Tutton, who is your explosive player, who also brings a little bit of that fight to him and Lee Quint Allen, the perfect third downback, who's an absolute dog out there.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: It just makes a lot of sense.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: And then, wide receiver, we have,
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr. Jacoby Myers, Parker Washington.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter is there, but he's not technically there, right, on the 53 Josh Cameron CJ Williams.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Two draft picks that I really like for the Jack Wars, that wide receiver this year.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think they find their way onto the roster.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: Both of them
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Have some nice traits.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Josh Cameron is a big, physical, yak type of guy who can go up and get the football down the field as well, who can break tackles in a big way, who can contribute as a returner.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: There's just a lot of value there in my mind.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: And then CJ Williams, I think kind of a,
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: Z slash slot, even though he's got pretty decent size.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: He's a good route runner, he's got sweet feet, his hands have been impressive so far.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: He had a bunch of really good practices in the spring.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: So those are my wide receiver, those five plus, obviously Travis Hunter.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: At tight end, I've got four, which,
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: I just think when you have Britain strained on an extension, you draft two tight ends, Nate Borgature, Tanner Coziel, and you extend or resign Morris, Quentin Morris, like those are my four.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hunter long, they signed last year.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think it could be a battle between Hunter Long and Quentin Morris for the fourth spot.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think for a team that wants to have two tie-dens on the field more in 2026 than they did in 2025 and be effective at that, they're going to keep four tie-dens.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then I have nine offensive linemen.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: would like to have 10, but I've got nine.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Colvin Lannon, Ezra Cleveland, Robert Hainesy, Patrick McCary, Anton Harris, and that's your starting five.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if Colvin Lannon, if the injury's taking a little bit longer for him to get back, then you potentially have him in a situation where he is,
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, short term I are, and then you have an extra offensive lineman, probably the guy who I don't have making it here, too, but I don't go probably still in the roster.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have too much doga making it because you have why at my lm.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: Jonah Monheim Emmanuel, Pregnant and Walker Little, and between those four, you have every position covered.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: Walker Little can play any tackle spot, any guard spot.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: Um, why at my home, I think can probably play tackle for you, but can play both guard spots.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you will pregnant on.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: We'll practice that both guards bots.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: Jonah Monheim should be able to play obviously center, but also potentially guard.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: And he does have tackle experience.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you want to ask him at his size to do that in the NFL however.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: So that's how it shakes out for me with this 53 man roster.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: I've got 27 on defense, 23 on offense.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Part of that is the Travis Hunter equation of it all.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: Part of it is I just think you need more numbers on the defensive side of the ball in certain areas
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: And part of that is the defenders and the way they compete on on special teams too, but yeah 27 offense 23 defense three core special teamers That'll do it really appreciate y'all tuned it in.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: We will continue to preview Jaguar's training camp for the next several days before we get out there next Wednesday Please like and subscribe if you enjoy the content you can also hit the high button y'all have a great one
